Key claims
Use two analytics metrics—top downloads (topic interest, influenced by big guests) and highest retention time (best engagement/completion). Build a list of top 10 by retention and top 10 by downloads (top 20). Repurpose by inviting top guests back, doing solo recaps with takeaways, and analyzing topic/title trends to potentially niche/pivot.
Notable examples
If “scaling strategies” drives traction, pivot to scaling-focused content; if “mindset” wins in life coaching, niche around mindset. CTA: Export hosting-platform data and build a 2026 content strategy; GetMoreListeners.com offers a free mini audit.

Welcome to How to Grow a Podcast that attracts high-ticket online coaching clients. The show helping coaches, consultants, and experts turn your slow-growth podcast into a profitable client attraction system. At the end of this episode, I'll share a little more about who I am and what we do at my company, GetMoreListeners.com. It might even shock you. But for now, let's dive into the episode. In today's episode, you'll discover how to use your most popular episodes from 2025 to grow your coaching podcast in 2026.
0:42The two metrics that reveal what's really working with your audience. And finally, three practical ways to repurpose your best content for faster client attraction. Let's dive in. Today we're covering how to use your most popular episodes from 2025 to grow your coaching podcast audience in 2026. Essentially, how the hell can we make sure that all the work you've been putting in, the long days, the late nights, the early mornings, grinding on the show, hosting amazing interviews, working long and hard consistently, how do we make the most out of all of that work moving into 2026? And it all starts with looking at your podcast analytics and spotting trends on specific topics or guests that seem to gain far more traction.
1:28Damn right. So look, let's kick this off with saying what to even look for to actually see these trends and see which episodes are best. There's two metrics, really. There is the most downloaded, and then there is also the highest retention time. We like to balance both because they both have different purposes. The retention time is really the better indicator of which episode was the best. But most popular is, of course, just downloads. The only thing is that can be influenced by big guests and other factors. So we like to have both. So what I would say to you right now is get your top 10 highest retention time episodes and also get your top 10 most downloaded episodes.
2:10Put them in a list and there we go. Now we can work with this. What's next? Awesome. So you've got all that information. How do you practically apply this when it comes to 2026? Well, your content strategy. The whole goal is to pinpoint what's working, what's not. The first thing we do is think about how do we repurpose some of the best performing episodes. So if you have top episodes that are absolutely smashing it, how to repurpose them either by literally just reposting them, or maybe exploring a different angle within that topic, within that subject. Yeah, exactly. So to kind of run through some quickfire ways, really quick wins that you can actually use to do more of what's working.
2:53Number one, any guest that comes up in this top 20 list that you've compiled, get them back on if you can. You can either get a guest on that could provide a different angle on that conversation, but a much easier and certain route is just to invite that guest back on and frame it as, look, your episode was a fan favorite episode because it was. So it'd be great to have a part two and we can talk about this, or maybe we can tackle this. It depends on the topic, but the point is it's a win-win for both, right? You get someone that resonated with your audience, and the guest knows that their episode did really well before, and they want to come back on.
3:31The next thing that you can do is simply recap those episodes and share your takeaways. This can be literally five, ten-minute solo episodes. Position yourself more as an authority. Create additional touchpoints with your listeners. But more importantly, knowing that this is a high and trending topic, you covering it, giving it your own take, and giving your own takeaways is a way to kind of piggyback off the popularity of this hot and trending topic. And some of your top episodes might already be solo episodes. And if that's the case, you can still do a solo episode recap on it. Maybe just share how your perspective has changed on this, or new things you've learned about this.
4:12And again, really, you could just still do your takeaways, right? So there's always ways that you can recap old episodes, no matter what the format of that episode was. Last way we can look at this list as a whole and make changes to get more growth in 2026. After you've compiled this information in terms of retention time, as well as top episodes, have a look at the topics. Is there a clear trend in terms of a specific topic that seems to get a ton more downloads? For example, if you have a relatively broader show that's about, let's say, business coaching, and you find out that the topics that specifically covered scaling strategies seems to get the most traction, maybe it's a sign to pivot the show to become more niche.
4:56Focus on scaling, diving deeper on scaling, exploring scaling more. If you have a show on life coaching and you realize that mindset seems to be a topic that your audience absolutely love, how can we become more niche? So this could actually be a sign. It might be shocking what you find, actually, to be honest. It usually is for people to go through this. Don't fight it. Kind of just be objective. Look at the numbers. And if you're trying to grow and attract more high-ticket clients, just follow what the numbers are telling you. Use that data-driven process to build out your content for 2026 and position your podcast to be the podcast covering this specific topic.
5:40That's what I would say when it comes to presenting yourself as more of an authority and driving more growth for your podcast, using the work you've done in 2025 to grow your podcast in 2026. Great. So to summarize, there's three main ways that you can look at your most popular episodes overall or your most successful episodes overall and repurpose them. Number one, you can do more solo episodes on those topics. Whether it's a new perspective, your takeaways from the initial episode, you can just do more related to that episode. Number two, you can invite the guest back on. If you did originally have a guest, frame it as a fan-favorite episode, and you know it's going to be hard for them to say no.
6:24And number three, you can look at the list as a whole and analyze the trends between the topics you discussed and decide whether you need to actually go in that direction as a whole with the show. Or maybe it's even commonalities between the titles. So maybe the episodes where it was like, five ways to do X, maybe a lot of your best performing episodes have trends in the way you title them. And that's also something you can take on board to improve. And to really reiterate, why is it that we use both retention time and most downloaded episodes as the overall best performers? The reason why is really this, how we like to view it.
7:04The highest downloaded episodes give us a clearer idea of the topics your audience are really attracted to and respond well to. Whereas the highest retention and completion rate episodes tells us the episodes that your audience were most engaged with, the ones they enjoyed the most. And those are two very different things, right? You can have an episode with a thousand downloads, but an average retention time of like 50, 60, 70 percent, because the content might not have been as engaging. So that's why you have to look at both of these metrics, because they tell us different things. So in terms of your call to action, because that was a lot there, if you need to revisit this episode, revisit this episode.
7:49But moving forward would be to pull up your hosting platform, export the data, filter out the highest retention and the most downloaded episodes, and build out your content strategy using the information we've shared with you in this episode for 2026. Because here's the thing. You've already done the work. You've already created content that resonates with your ideal high-ticket clients. The question is, are you going to let that work just sit there? Or are you going to use it strategically to attract more of the right people, establish yourself as the go-to authority in your niche, and convert more listeners into paying clients?
8:30The data is right there in your hosting platform. Use it. Double down on what's working. Stop guessing and start using what your audience is already telling you they want. That's it for today. We'll see you in the next episode. In this episode, we covered how to use your most popular episodes from 2025 to grow your coaching podcast in 2026, the two metrics that reveal what's really working with your audience, and finally, three practical ways to repurpose your best content for faster client attraction. Thank you for listening all the way to the end. At the start of this episode, I said I'd tell you a little bit about me.
