In short
Why a podcast lacks “urgency” and how to fix delivery urgency to attract high-ticket online coaching clients, using FOMO, timely relevance (newsjacking), and incentive-based calls to action.
Guest backgrounds
No guest; host is Tony, a “robot” persona created by Tig and Anthony, founders of GetMoreListeners.com.
Key claims
Low pacing/energy reduces listener retention (coach should check Apple/Spotify retention; target 65–70%+). Ignoring time-sensitive content kills relevance; use newsjacking with 5–10 minute episodes. Generic CTAs (“subscribe”) fail; use gain/loss incentive CTAs (e.g., free personalized podcast audit).
Notable examples
Business coach responding to social media algorithm shifts, tax law changes, or viral marketing trends; health coach covering new gut-health studies or celebrity wellness trends; community exclusivity via listener-submitted questions or monthly live “breakthrough” sessions.

Welcome to How to Grow a Podcast that attracts high-ticket online coaching clients. The show helping coaches, consultants, and experts turn your slow-growth podcast into a profitable client attraction system. At the end of this episode, I'll share a little more about who I am and what we do at my company, GetMoreListeners.com. It might even shock you, but for now, let's dive into the episode. In this episode, you'll discover how injecting urgency into your podcast can captivate new listeners and turn them into paying clients, how to leverage FOMO to create anticipation around your show, and finally, how to get your listeners taking action like never before.
0:50Now, if you haven't listened to the episode, 7 Reasons Online Coaches with Podcasts Struggle to Grow, Stop what you're doing and go listen to that first. Seriously, it sets the foundation for everything we're covering today. I'll wait. Okay, you back? Good. Because today we're diving deep into reason number one from that episode. Most online coaches with podcasts lack urgency. Let's fix that. First, let me clarify. There are two types of urgency when it comes to your podcast, and both are critical. Delivery urgency. The pacing, energy, and how your content is delivered within the episode itself.
1:32Targeting urgency. Whether the people you're targeting feel an urgent need to listen right now. In this episode, we're focusing on delivery urgency. How you show up, how you communicate, and how you create a sense of, I need to listen to this now within your content. In the next episode, we'll tackle targeting urgency, making sure you're speaking to people who have problems they need solved today, not someday. Picture this. You're watching a slow-motion race where all the participants are moving at a snail's pace. It's boring. Everyone's falling asleep. No one cares. That's what a monotonous, low-energy podcast feels like.
2:16Now, I know what you're thinking. My podcast isn't boring. I bring energy. I'm engaging. Here's how you know for sure. Go to your Apple Podcast Analytics or Spotify Analytics and check your retention rate, the average percentage of each episode your listeners are completing. If it's below 65 to 70 percent, your pacing is probably off. Your energy might be flat. Your delivery might not be creating the urgency you think it is. Be objective. Look at the data. Then come back and let's fix it. Mistake number one. Slow pacing and low energy. The most common mistake I see from online coaches with podcasts?
2:59Their pacing is way too slow. They're talking like they're reading a bedtime story instead of coaching someone through a breakthrough. There's no momentum, no excitement, no reason for the listener to stay engaged. Here's the truth. I've never heard someone complain that a podcast was too high energy or too fast-paced. But I've heard plenty of people say, I couldn't get through it. It was so slow and boring. If your podcast feels like a chore to listen to, your ideal clients will tune out. And if they tune out, they're definitely not booking a call with you. You need to inject energy and momentum into your delivery.
3:40Make your listeners feel like something important is happening right now. Make them feel like they can't afford to miss what you're saying. Mistake number two, ignoring time-sensitive content. Imagine discovering news about an event that happened six months ago. It doesn't feel relevant anymore, right? You don't care as much. It doesn't have the same impact. The same thing happens with your podcast if you're not staying current. To create urgency, you need to tap into what's happening right now in your industry. This is called newsjacking, covering current events, trending topics, or breaking news in your niche.
4:20Let's say you're a business coach. If there's a major shift in social media algorithms, a new tax law affecting entrepreneurs, or a viral trend that's impacting how coaches are marketing, that's your opportunity. Create a quick 5-10 minute episode addressing it. Or let's say you're a health coach. If there's a new study about gut health or a celebrity wellness trend that's all over the news, jump on it. Your ideal clients are already searching for information about it. Be the voice they find. When something current happens in your industry, there's a massive surge of interest. Your audience is actively looking for that content, so give it to them.
5:04Position yourself as the authority who's on top of what matters right now. And here's the bonus. It's easy content to create because the relevance is already built in. Mistake number three. Weak or non-existent call to action. Imagine a car without a steering wheel aimlessly moving through the desert. That's what a podcast without a clear, compelling call to action feels like. Directionless and ineffective. Most online coaches with podcasts end their episodes with something like, thanks for listening, be sure to subscribe. That's not a call to action. That's a formality. You need an incentive-based call to action, one that tells your listeners exactly what they'll gain by taking action or what they'll lose by not taking it.
5:55Here's an example. If you're tired of creating content that doesn't convert into clients, if you feel like you're guessing at what topics to cover and hoping something sticks, I want to help you. Head to the show notes and grab your free personalized podcast audit. I'll show you exactly what's holding your show back and how to turn it into a client generation machine. See the difference? You're not just asking them to do something. You're giving them a clear reason why it matters to them right now. That's how you create urgency. That's how you get people to take action. Now let's talk about practical ways you can inject urgency into your podcast today.
6:38Your tone, your pacing, your enthusiasm, it all matters. If you're doing a solo episode or interviewing a guest, bring high energy. It's a transfer of energy. If you sound bored, your listeners will be bored. If you sound excited, they'll feel excited. You want people thinking, this is engaging, this is valuable, I feel energized after listening to this, not, wow, that was a snooze fest. Secondly, create a sense of community and exclusivity around your podcast. Give your listeners a reason to stay engaged and feel like they're part of something special. For example, if you're interviewing a guest, have a segment where you ask them a question submitted by someone in your community.
7:27This creates FOMO. Listeners who aren't in the community will want to join so they don't miss out. Or, let's say you're a relationship coach. You could do a monthly client breakthrough session where you coach a community member live on the podcast. People will want to be part of that community so they can be featured, learn from others, and feel connected. Use Q &As, giveaways, and behind-the-scenes content to create buzz. Make your podcast feel like an event, not just another episode in their feed. An obvious way is to take measures to stay current and relevant. Set up Google Alerts or notifications for trending topics in your niche.
8:14When something big happens, create a quick episode about it. Don't wait. Don't overthink it. Just record a 5-10 minute take and get it out there. Your ideal clients are searching for that information right now. Be the voice they discover. And at the end of every episode, give your listeners a clear, compelling reason to take the next step. Tell them what they'll gain or what they'll lose. Make it specific. Make it urgent. I know you might be thinking, isn't this too pushy? Doesn't this feel salesy? Here's the thing. If you're genuinely offering value and packaging it in a way that serves your audience, you're not being pushy.
9:00You're being helpful. The coaches who stand out are the ones who go the extra mile. The ones who bring energy, stay current, create urgency, and give their listeners a clear path forward. Competition is fierce. Other coaches are chasing the same dreams you are. So what are you going to do to make your podcast the one that attracts high-ticket clients, builds authority, and creates a loyal audience? Here are your key takeaways. Avoid monotonous delivery. Bring high energy and fast pacing to keep your listeners engaged. Stay current. Use newsjacking to tap into trending topics and stay top of mind.
9:48Create FOMO. Build exclusivity and community around your podcast. Use incentive-based CTAs. Give your listeners a clear, compelling reason to take action. Stay organized. Be timely. relevant, and always deliver content when your audience needs it most. When you inject urgency into your podcast, you create content that excites your listeners and compels them to take action. And that's how you turn your podcast into a client attraction system. So, in this episode, we covered how injecting urgency into your podcast can captivate new listeners and turn them into paying clients, how to leverage FOMO to create anticipation around your show, and finally, how to get your listeners taking action like never before.
10:42Thank you for listening all the way to the end. At the start of this episode, I said I'd tell you a little bit about me.
