In short
The hosts debate right-wing politics and culture-war claims, focusing on homeschooling (“trickle-down stupidity”), Stephen Miller’s “left-wing terrorism” rhetoric, Trump administration incompetence (including the Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool repair), and Trump’s trans-related remarks tied (by the host) to the CHIPS Act. They also discuss Mike Lindell’s Minnesota governor run, Mitch McConnell media scrutiny, and the investigation into the death of Nolan Wells (a Black man) in Mississippi, alleging unequal treatment and lack of transparency.
Guests (hosts)
Jennifer Welch (podcaster/host; describes herself as a civil-rights ally and discusses media coverage gaps) and Don Lemon (TV journalist; co-host).
Key claims

Notable examples
DeSantis’s children at a Tallahassee faith-based school; New York Post and U.S. Department of Education tweets defending homeschooling; FBI visiting the reflecting pool; CHIPS Act “transistors” claim; Lindell’s “14.88” pillow price framed as a Nazi dog whistle; Wells family alleging delayed victim-statement and missing outreach.

Automatic transcript. May contain errors.0:04All right, it's Friday fun day. You know what it is. It's Welch's Lemonade. I got Don Lemon here. Don Lemon. Yes. How are you? I'm great. Even better because I'm about to share with you, I have really gotten under Magaskin. It is Trigger City. Snowflake galore. It is like a damn blizzard of snowflakes. So on I've had it. pumps and I were talking about homeschooling, particularly the Duggars, and they have these home packets where they teach about creationism and dinosaurs and man, all of these lies. And I said, homeschooling is trickle down stupidity. It's like the person at the top says I'm dumb, and I'm going to make my kids dumb too.
44I stand by my statement. Unequivocally, I still believe that. Well, MAGA, because they don't want to talk about the pedophile in chief, are losing their minds pop up here's ron desantis weighing in on this so no the new york post no the new york post tweets far left podcaster jennifer welch blasts homeschooling is trickle down stupidity and a fundamental crazy christian problem ron desantis says not true also in my experience homeschool students tend to be noticeably well behaved so we did a little research on ron desantis's educational choices for his children. And they go to an elite private school, faith-based school in Tallahassee.
28The next tweet, and I want to get your take on this, the Department of Education tweeted about me, same New York Post article, U.S. Department of Education homeschoolers, like the winner of the President's 1776 award, have demonstrated their ability to succeed at the highest level time and time again. The proven value of homeschooling should never be dismissed as trickle-down stupidity. The only thing that is stupid is your ignorance. And I want to also point out here that Linda McMahon's children both attended public high school. They were not homeschooled. Don.
12Okay. Okay. Number one, I think it is a badge of honor to piss off the MAGAs and Ron DeSantis. I can't take anything seriously that they do, honestly, because as I have said to you before, people who are intelligent, when they gain new information, they change their minds. If it's something that's different from what they believe, no matter how much information you give a MAGA person, they don't change their minds. It is cult-like. And I consider Ron DeSantis to be a MAGA person. Here's the thing though, it's so funny that you mentioned that. If you'll just let me tell this little story. The interactions that I've had with most children or most people who have been homeschooled, I'm talking about adults, not children, I should say that.
00When they're adults, they have been so sheltered that they have no idea of what the real world is like. So I just happened to be at a concert and I sat next to someone who was from my own hometown in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He lived there until he was, I think, 17 years old or 18, from high school years. And I was talking to him about landmarks, things that were part of Baton Rouge. Like when you go to Baton Rouge, you go to Tony's Seafood and you do this. Everybody knows what that is. Everybody. I said, and did you know about this? Did you know about that? Oh my gosh, do you remember that? He remembered nothing because his parents homeschooled him.
42And he told me, hand to God, he wishes he had not been homeschooled because it sheltered him so much that he had no idea about the real world. He thought, he happens to be a gay man, that he was an abomination. His parents took him out of school because they thought that the public schools were teaching them that and teaching them about integration and racism and all of that. And he did, his parents did not want him to learn about that. And they were evangelical Christians in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. And he said, he feels like he was so unprepared to be an adult and so afraid to be himself. He wishes his parents had made a different choice.
21He knew nothing. He moved away. But when he was 17 or 18, he knew nothing about major landmarks, major places in his own hometown where he was born and grew up. And now he wishes his parents had done something differently. That's my experience. And that's a true story. I think that's very telling. And the people that I've met that are adults now that have been homeschooled echo the very same sentiment that your friend does. And I think it's important for us to know that this is a part of the fascist playbook. They want a stupid electorate because a stupid electorate that doesn't critically think is easier to plunder.
59We know that Donald Trump has told Linda McMahon that her job is to close the Department of Education. An educated electorate has been a problem for the Republican Party for quite some time. If you throw in black people getting educated in there. That's a real, real problem for the Republican Party. Here's Fox News' meltdown on this. Pop this up. Far-left podcaster Jennifer Welch calls homeschooling, trickle-down stupidity, a huge problem. And I just want to reemphasize here, I grew up in Oklahoma, a very, very deeply evangelical state. And the homeschooling is because they think that schools are evil.
42They think that the teaching of evolution is evil. And they promote this type of schooling where it's creationism, it's biblical. This is a part of not just the fascist project, but the Christian nationalist project. And this is why they're melting down because this is what they want for every American. Well, I want to tell you something. Why do they usually send their kids to, don't send their kids to school. There's a reason that they don't send their kids to school. And I'm glad you said that. And it's because of everything that you said, it's because of everything that you said that they don't send their kids to public schools or even private schools.
26So, I mean, it's a little odd to me. Can I show you something? Come here. This is someone that I will never, I hope never goes to, never is homeschooled and is sheltered like that. This is my little niece who's visiting me from Louisiana, and I hope that she is exposed to things and she's not sheltered and that she doesn't end up becoming unaware of what life is like. Right, Ashley? What is her name? Tell her your name. Say hi. Hi. Say hi. Hi, Ms. Jen. Hi. Hi, Sugar Plum. How are you? She said, how are you? two how old she thought i said she's two she's going out with her mom my whole family's visiting go have a great day okay say bye miss jen bye darling i love that don i was like can i show you something and you the last thing on the planet i thought you were about to pull out was an adorable toddler so that shocked the out of me and i hope to god she gets a rigorous robust education Let's also point out that these fascist Christian nationalists that are taking over our federal government have been trying to dismantle universities, higher education and ridicule people that have higher education.
46But I have to let you in on a little tidbit, Don. Yes, ma 'am. Two days ago, Hunter Biden came right here to this very studio and we did a one on one. The episode is going to drop Sunday. But I'm sorry, Saturday. Thank you, Kylie. It's going to drop Saturday, but I want to show you a little snippet from my interview and get your take. Play the clip. I know for certain, and I'm not kidding now, is that there is, and everybody in D.C. knows this. I mean, I lived there for 20 years. My dad was a senator, you know, or vice president, president, my whole life, for 54 years of my life. And everybody knows there is like this closeted gay mafia, largely Republican, that exists in Washington, D.C.
37And everybody knows every single one of them who's gay. He called it a closetocracy. Closetocracy. How brilliant is that? Hunter Biden is having a moment and he's right. Look, and he's lived there his entire life. He's an open-minded person. I never understood the guff that he's gotten. I've always been a supporter, but he's right. It is an open secret in Washington, DC, who the closeted gays are. Because when you're out and you need what you need and you want what you want and you can't help it, right? Sometimes that urge, you just have to have it. People find out. You get drunk and you hit on people.
23Speaking of closet cases, Kylie, find that headline about Lindsey Graham. I got to show you this. They've been after me all week, MAGA. By the way, can I let you in a little bit of a tidbit as well? Yeah. So I have Hunter coming up too. Yeah, I'll let your Hunter drop before mine drop. But oh.
44For those of you listening, it is a media headline and it says He liked cock and he liked killing. Jennifer Welch mocks Lindsey Graham after his death in shock rant. Are you proud of me, Don? I'm so proud of you. I mean, you are the truth and you don't hold back. Jen, wow. They are obviously watching you. They've got their eyes and ears on you and they are wound up. You have become the target of their ire. for telling the truth. Okay. Now I want to get your take on, of course, little, little Stephen Miller, and he makes another Nazi-esque speech about alleged, which we all know is a lie, left-wing terrorism.
36I apologize to you and the viewer and the listener that we have to watch this clip, but we must in order to fight fascism. Play the clip. left-wing terrorism always ends in bloodshed misery and suffering it only can travel in one direction there's no point at which the left-wing terrorist is satisfied with his gains and ceases progressing inevitably left to run its course it always becomes a gulag Don. Do I have to? You know what I mean? I mean, I know I have to, but I mean, do we really have to? I'm like, when is this going to be over? And when is he going to stop with the rhetoric about left wing and all of that?
25Stephen Miller has been the most destructive force behind in our society in recent history, behind all of the ICE things and all of the policies that's happening with deportation. and he can't understand it. I've known Stephen Miller, not personally, but peripherally. And I told you he used to be on my show and CNN all the time. He is unhinged. His ideas are so extreme. And I used to wonder if he was what you said about Lindsey Graham, because I told you this, I got that vibe. Not that I would want that, not that the community would want it because the community would be like, nope, we don't want him.
00You can keep him over there. But I got that vibe. Now, I have to tell you, you let me in on a little tidbit. I wish I had the soundbite for you. But there's also an influencer on the left who is very popular. He's as popular as you and me. And he said he wishes, he's a former boxer. He says he wishes that they would set up another UFC ring on the White House and he can take on Stephen Miller. And I said, if you do that, then I'm going for the Dons, both of them. I would do Don Jr. and I'll do Don Sr., but I'd be afraid that Don Sr., I might, you know, the poopoo diaper thing may be a little bit too much for me to take, but I would go in the ring with Don Jr.
42and we could, but this guy, this, he says he wants to, you have to watch and see who it is coming up soon, shortly, but he wants to take on Stephen Miller in the ring. Cause he said, I guess he thinks he has a punchable face. Well, he does. When Stephen Miller was standing there with that face and that those mannerisms and that demeanor and that voice talking about terrorism. I'm like, you have to look in the mirror every single day and watching you feels like I'm watching an active bout of terrorism in full motion. I mean, just his, the mere speak, his, him speaking feels like an act of terrorism.
14So I think that's why it's on the mind all the time. Cause he's so incredibly off-putting and unlikable and unfuckable and everything about this man. You know, I mean, he couldn't get it. You know, I mean, we, we all know in the relationship with he and Katie, he's the bottom, you know, it, Don. It might be a side. We talked about that before top, bottom, inside, but everyone, did you say it should be called the middle? You know, the side is, it's like, you're kind of on your side you're kind of yeah I don't think even a little spooning yeah I knew you'd know all the jab yeah okay he is probably one of the most unattractive people that I have visually that I've also you know policy-wise and the way he thinks the most unattractive people that I've met which is really shocking when you think about how Donald Trump is so into aesthetics he's into attractive people he's into i mean he has terrible taste obviously in interior design but he's very into he thinks he's a man of taste and he's very into that if you look at both stephen miller and stephen chung both objectively incredibly unattractive and both incredibly loyal to donald trump and have been by his side for such a long time and i'm surprised just on the basis of appearance because Donald Trump is that petty that he hasn't fired him because of that.
45And what I think we should do on the left is we should start talking about how unattractive they are all the time and make sure it gets to like regrammed on right wing media, makes its way to Fox because Donald Trump would be like, you know what? They are unattractive. Look at these guys. Do you know what? Okay. So that in that picture, okay. Okay. So one of them is pants really low and the other one is high. This one looks normal, but I will tell, let me tell you this, this is true story. When I, when I knew Stephen Miller, I don't, I haven't seen him in a long time. He was rail thin, like, you know, like he was, you know, malnourished that thin.
20Uh, he had the little short thing and then wore the powder and he was actually very well dressed. That's sort of what set off my gaydar possibly. Right. And, but he used to wear his pants so high and jacked up. It was bizarre. I was like, why is he, you know, that sort of thing. So that is fun fact that people don't know. Really skinny, very well-dressed, but high pants. And the other guy was, yeah, but yeah, high waters, but he would hike them up like above the waist. So maybe someone taught him that your pants should be like, it should be worn off your hip and on your waist. Either that, or is this, is this a form of like self-sadism that he likes to hike them up and feel pain in his testicles, like making my camel toe?
05Because this man likes pain. He traffics in pain. I know, but I'm just, that's where my brain went. Shit, I don't want that picture in my head. I know, I know, of course. We've gone off the rails already. All right. Let's talk about the reflecting pool. Okay, so according to a new report, Kylie popped this up. The New York Times is reporting that FBI evidence team visits the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. Officials survey the newly drained pool where the floor began peeling soon after the$16 million repair job. President Trump has blamed vandals. He sent the FBI to investigate the shitty job that his shitty friend, who was way over his skis on doing this style of project, did.
53And according to the reporting from Washington from the Washington Post the lining of the Lincoln Memorial's reflecting pool peeled in at least seven places along seams that were created when the material applied indicating likely problems and how it was installed according to the experts that viewed all of this so think about all of the stuff going on in the world oh god and all of the investigations that need to happen like the murder of Alex Preddy that the murder of Renegade the murder of the person that was just killed in Maine, the other murder that happened this week. The killing and or the death of the boy that you're covering down in Mississippi, the young man in Mississippi.
36Dr. Justin Marchegiani Nolan Wells. Dr. Amy Quinton, Yeah. Dr. Amy Quinton, Nolan Wells. And he's got the FBI over here investigating what we all know was a shitty repair job. And this is basically Donald Trump's America. This everybody just bends to the whims of a nut job. This is on the level for me of the election of 2020 was stolen, delusional. And we all know the election wasn't stolen. We all know that nobody damaged the reflecting pool, that it was a bad repair job, that he gave a no-bid contract to someone who was incompetent. Not surprising in the MAGA administration because Donald Trump is incompetent.
14J.D. Vance is incompetent. Pete Hexeth is incompetent. Duffy is incompetent. They're all the way on down. Todd Blanche, all of them are incompetent. All of them are there according to their definition, DEI hires. They were just handed these positions because that's what Donald Trump wants. Even that idiot that he is nominating for director of national intelligence, Jay whatever, I forget what his name is, Clayton or something like that, who can't even answer the question about the election. So in order to make up for his blunder, once again, he has gone overboard to pretend something else is happening.
52If you want to, I would encourage you on your own property, I have a pool and go out there with an exacto knife and try to damage your pool and see how quickly the blade gets destroyed from the concrete that's on your pool. The reflecting pool is concrete and see what happens. Okay. Just, you don't have to do it, but you get my point. Perhaps that reflecting pool was damaged because your dumb ass drove your motorcade across it as soon as they finished it with vehicles that weigh a couple of tons. Maybe that's the problem. You're the problem. You should arrest yourself, put yourself in jail, and do us all a favor.
34It's absolutely ridiculous. Instead, he's arresting the very people who helped to pay for that reflecting pool with their tax money. outrageous and I'm tired. This man is cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs and they're going along with it. It makes whoever's going along with it at the FBI, Cash Patel, incompetent. It makes them seem like idiots as well. Come on. The reflecting pool was fine before. If you wanted to repair it, you should have just repaired it the way it was, left it, put the water back in it and go about your business. Very well said, darling Don. All right. I want to now play a dementia rant that Trump went on yesterday about trans people.
17Now I'm going to give you some analysis about why we think he's linking trans people to this particular subject. Play the clip. We had this ridiculous chips act where you give billions of dollars to a company and they didn't even know what the hell to do with it. You give them billions of dollars, they say they're going build nobody knew what to do with it and of course the standards were so high if you weren't transgender as an example uh you didn't qualify so they get the money that hired they look all over for transgender people to run the company large portions they couldn't find them they weren't into the chip making business i guess right oh my god okay here's where this comes from Wait, here's where this comes from really quick.
00Here's this analysis from Melanie DiRaggio. She says, the CHIPS Act funds the production of chips using leading edge transistors. And now you can probably figure out why he thinks these companies needed transgender people to qualify. This is where this comes from. Transistors. I'm out. I can't. I'm just saying. Transistors. It's like, remember the transgenic mice? Yes. He said there were transgender mice and it's like, no, that's not what it means. And also, do they do transponders too or something? I know they do transistors, but it's the same thing. I'm telling you, that's why this man is cuckoo and he's dumb.
45He loves a poorly educated and he loves himself because he is the poorly educated. When he said about – he thinks that asylum, when people come over seeking asylum, he thinks that it's from asylum, like insane asylum. And then he goes to Hannibal Lecter. Yes. And so he thinks that's what it is. And the evidence is like, and then Hannibal Lecter and the insane asylum, they're letting people out. It's like, no, they're seeking asylum, you dumbass. And then now it's like, no, it's not transgender. But also, Jen, think about the contradiction in that, where he's talking about transgender people. And he said they're taking over everything.
28Now, how are the transgender people taking over everything yet and still they can't find enough of them to fill jobs? For the Chips Act. For the Chips Act. I mean, does he think the Chips Act is about potato chips? Like what? Trans potato chips. Trans potato chips. At this point, I think you should sit down at the Resolute desk and just say, my administration is going to put an end to trans potato chips and sign an executive order. I mean, because that's basically what we're dealing with. And then now he's endorsed. Jen, hold on before you go to that, please. I think, honestly, that we should propose some legislation, perhaps.
09I don't know if this is feasible or not. To give, if there are people who are part of MAGA who want to know if they're in a cult, to give them some sort of deprogramming, to put some sort of deprogramming program that they can go to to sort of help them to figure that out. Because you don't come out of it unless you are deprogrammed. And I think that like someone who is addicted, they need help. Someone who's in a cult, they need help. And maybe if we, when people say you really want to reach across the aisle or you want to give someone an olive branch, perhaps that's where we start with an olive branch.
45I mean, do you think that's a terrible idea? No, I have a great idea. So you run for president. You went. You appoint me as a secretary of education. and at the department of education, I teach a class where people can homeschool their friends and neighbors on how to get deprogrammed from the cult in a full circle moment for myself. I think that's a good idea. People keep asking me if I'm running for president and I'm like, you know what? Maybe I should do it. You think so? All right. Fuck it. Why not? You know, why not i'll be around right let's just do it let's see what let's see how far we can take it we could be co-presidents you know no you'll be the president i'm fine being veep i want to be like i want to channel part kamala part uh julia louis dreyfus from the sitcom veep and i i'll also take over the interior design projects i was just gonna say the things we could do with that white house to restore it back to its former glory.
50We could make it gorgeous. Oh my gosh. Fabulous. Speaking of horrible things, you may remember Mike Lindell, the MyPillow guy. The pillow dude, yeah. Yeah. Who's like lost his money, lost his mind, everything all for Donald Trump. Well, he's running for governor. And of course, Trump has endorsed him. Pop this up. Mike Lindell, the pillow man and one of America's greatest and most hardworking patriots is running to be governor of Minnesota, replacing one of the worst and most incompetent governors in the history of the USA. Early primary voting has begun, and if given the chance, Mike will be spectacular.
33He truly loves Minnesota, as do I, and wants to bring it back from oblivion and embarrassment. He can do it. Nobody has sacrificed more than Mike Lindell in fighting for our country, especially when it comes to election integrity, which is bullshit. He will make Minnesota great again. Mike Lindell has my complete and total endorsement. We switched to caps lock for those of you that are listening, not watching. He will not let you down. Good luck, Mike. Lindell prices his pillows at$14.88. sense. And this is considered a common Nazi dog whistle. 14. Oh, oh, that's an interesting number. That's very specific.
21Like it's as specific as the, I spoke to Mitch McConnell for 17 minutes, right? Oh my God. We need to talk about that. Okay. Okay. But let me just say this. I'm going to say something and then I'll, I'm going to say something after that. So Donald Trump needs to grab one of those pillows or a bunch of those pillows. He needs to have a seat and he needs to give some of those pillows to the closeted bottoms in the Republican party to sit on in a chair. Because obviously they're getting a lot of work out if you check the grinder. I'm just allegedly. The other thing is, Jen, it may surprise you that I'm all about this idea.
59I think he should run. I think whoever wants to run for president, fine, but I'm all about this idea because I think this would all but guarantee a democratic win in Minnesota. And I think that's what we need right now instead of some crazy MAGA right-wing nut running Minnesota. It would guarantee a win. Yeah, go ahead. Mike Pillow. Yes. Donald Trump, go ahead and run in Minnesota for governor. Hand out a bunch of pillows for your party for a lot of people who are in the MAGA party who need to take a damn seat and they can sit on those pillows or just go take a nap because they're tired. D for D. A real dick for lots of decades. If he, if the situation were reversed, I think Bershear just needs to go ahead and run the special election. Just that we haven't heard from him. I don't have this photograph, this proof of life hostage photograph doesn't work. I haven't heard from him. I don't know that he's all there. And so he hasn't called me to prove this.
32He hasn't made anything available to me to prove this. I'm going to go ahead and run the special election. That's what Mitch would do. Yeah. I mean, and look, last time we were on, I think we ran the video of the last time we saw Mitch McConnell, he was falling, he fell over and then a reporter and then he's like, just sort of this and can barely talk. That's why I don't understand why the people are like, I spoke to him for 17 minutes. I spoke to him for 20 minutes. It's like, did he, did you, did you talk? Did he talk? Right. Because we all know that that's a bunch of bullshit. The other thing is Jen, And now I've had family members recently who were in hospitals and I went to visit them.

08When was the last time you saw someone in a hospital with a completely pressed and ironed shirt looking perfect? Mitch McConnell has not looked like that since 1987. And so either it's a major Photoshop that they're doing or come on. Yeah. Yeah. Come on. Do you usually sit around like this? Jeans at the hospital. And who puts their paper like that? Do you think Mitch McConnell is reading a paper like that? With my eyes, I used to love to read the paper. Now, you know, I have to read the paper this with some light on it because I get, come on now, come on. You know, I'm not, I'm not believing it, but hey, that's just me in my opinion, allegedly.
51Do you think, you know, but I agree with you. I think that they should just go ahead and do this. I think he just moved forward. That's what he would do. move forward and put some fire under them so they have to give some proof and if mitch mcconnell is speaking to people for 17 minutes and 20 minutes why can't he speak to someone in the media press why can't they do a facetime why can't they go and send a camera there even if he wants to talk to fox news or john hannity or whatever go talk to him let us see him the people deserve to know The people of Kentucky deserve to know. He's their representative.
26We need to hear from our leaders. Okay, you have done an exceptional job covering the death of Nolan Wells. And, of course, we spoke about this on our podcast. Last week was on your channel. This week it's on my channel. We spoke about this. But corporate media tends to, and this has been proven, data will ferret out what I'm about to say, tends to undercover and doesn't report on issues when a black person goes missing or a black person dies unexpectedly. But if this boy were blonde hair, blue eyed, this would be a lead story on CNN, MS Now, ABC, CBS, et cetera. And so you've done an incredible job covering this each and every night.
10So kudos to you for that, Dawn. But here is Jasmine Crockett reacting to the Nolan Wells investigation. Play the clip. To investigate. So what do you think? Well, I mean, you know, I'm a civil rights lawyer. I mean, I'm looking at it. I'm looking at the fact that these white kids deleted their social media accounts. It's not like they sat down and talked to law enforcement. It's not even like law enforcement decided that they wanted to sit down and talk to them. They decided, oh, the little black boy ended up dead without his cell phone, without his friends going and telling his parents, oh, yeah, we got the cell phone.
43They got to go and track down the phone to find the phone. It looks like a racial thing to me, but hey, maybe we'll find out that it wasn't. Don, this is how the Black community very much feels when they see this, correct? Yeah. Yeah. Yes. And look, there, of course, there's suspicion. Look at the history of this country. Let's just be honest. And so for people to get all the, you know, the racist and all them to get all riled up and say, how do we don't know it's about race? Of course we don't know. We don't know that right now. But judging history is a great teacher of how black people and especially black men are treated in this society.
22So let's just say, right, to Jasmine Crockett's point and to my point, let's just say it was an accident, right? Let's just say it was an accident. Here's the racial part that, and I'm not sure, I don't believe that it was, but if it is, I will accept that and we will move on from there. Here's the thing. Look at what the sheriff did days, just a day or so after it happened, came to the conclusion basically that it was an accident. Now, do you think if the roles were reversed that they would have come to a conclusion that soon? There must be an investigation. Also, why is the mom, why is the family, why are friends out doing the investigation that the investigators, the sheriff's department should be doing.
11Why are they retrieving cell phones? Why are they retrieving keys? Why hasn't anyone been questioned? I don't know, I guess questioned, but why, I guess, questioned or arrested for allowing minors to drink? He's 18 years old. They shouldn't be drinking. They're pictures that got beers in their hand. Who allowed that? Who bought them that liquor? How did that happen? Whose boat were they on? And why is an underage person on your boat being allowed to drink? You're aiding and abetting. That has not been investigated. Also, why have you not reached out to the mother of the person who has died to the victim at this point to ask to just talk to her, give her some transparency?
56Why is she having to text you on the Tuesday after her son died on the, I believe it was a Saturday that the 4th of July was on? She said in the press conference that she has not spoken to the investigators for over a week. She said in her quote was since last Tuesday. She gave the press conference on Wednesday. She reached out to them via text message and says, I haven't heard from investigators then. This is what, and so I'm concerned about transparency. I'm also concerned that they have not given a press conference since the initial one. They have not updated the public. They're not reaching out to the family.
33If you are the sheriff, if you are somebody who has a degree of humanity, you know what you do, Jen? You say, hello, Ms. Wells. This is Sheriff Ledbetter. I just wanted to contact you and tell you that I'm so sorry for what happened to your son. And if you need me, I am here for you at any time. Here's the phone number where you can reach me. And if you can't, you can reach out to this person and they will get me on the line. And I want to assure you that there is going to be a thorough investigation. Don't you worry. You just worry about, you know, taking care of your son and taking care of your son's arrangements and taking care of yourself.
04I just want you to know that. Thank you. That takes 30 seconds. He hasn't done that. And there are so many missed opportunities of people that they have not asked questions to, evidence that they reportedly have not collected. And it has been, as we tape this, 12 days since he died. Why do you think there is a show called The First 48? is because it is crucial that you start collecting evidence no matter what it is, if it's real or not. You start chasing it and you ask questions. Everybody's seen Law & Order. I know that's not 100 % real, but I know that for investigations like this, you start collecting information as soon as possible.
45And it doesn't seem like that has been done. Otherwise, they would not be reaching out to the DA to have a meeting with the DA to make sure that there's some communication now between the family and the investigators and the attorneys and all of that. That has finally happened. And why did, according to the lawyer in Mississippi, you are required to give the victim a victim statement within 72 hours that tells them what their rights are and what they can do. It hadn't happened 11 days after he had died. So, you know, don't give me that bullshit that it's not race involved, that every investigation is treated the same.
27It is not. I completely agree with you. I'm sorry to go on, but I think it's an important story. No, I think this is a very important story and you have been leading the charge in covering this every night on the Don Lemon Show. And I think that it's important that we discuss it But just so we know, you can let us know, you know, has there been a determination of the cause of death or anything like that yet? Not so far. They have not, as we are taping this, Jen, and it could happen any moment, right? No, there's been nothing. And the body is with someone in a medical expert in Washington, DC. Now it was delayed a bit because of rain and, you know, issues with the plane and all of that, that they explained at the, at the press conference.
13No, not at all. And here's the thing too, because you're asking questions about that. I think that there should be a cadence to the investigators of someone addressing the press, because where there is a lack of information, a vacuum, people fill in the gap with speculation and with rumors. And we have found out that some of the things that have been put out there are not true. The best way to combat that misinformation is to say every day at this time or whatever, you set the cadence, we are going to give you an update rather than you guys calling every single minute to get overwhelming the phone lines to say every day at 10 a.m.
54and 5 p.m. we're going to update you on this. We're going to have a 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., whatever it is that you're going to have. We're going to give you information and even if there's nothing to update you, we'll let you know that we're working on it. Some days you give a press conference, most days you try to. That doesn't take any effort. And other days you just put out a press release saying, hey, today there was information on a photograph. That photograph is not true. That was taken weeks before. He was at another party. And so do not put any credence in that photograph. But other than that, we have nothing else to report.
29We are working on this diligently. Thank you for your interest. That's not happening. That's easy to do. yeah it's it's uh to my viewers that tune in every uh friday make sure you go over to the don lemon show and like and subscribe over there because it's not his evening show he does live and he has had everybody in talking about this and is covering it the way it should be covered that when somebody perfectly healthy and young dies and was with a large group of people and photographs of everybody together that day and suddenly everybody's gone and that person's body is found and they're dead it's fishy as hell and so a story like this if this boy looked like he were my son and not Don's son would be getting completely different coverage and so it's important as we are allies and supportive of each other in this country whether we're in the throws of fascism or not, this issue has been ubiquitous in the United States.
28It's important that we embrace one another and each other's suffering, and we show interest and concern, and we want to shine a light that this investigation gets the diligence and the work that it would be for a white young man. Dawn, I hate to shift gears, but I've got to go soon. But I know that you're at the beach and I just want to say there is an outbreak of diarrhea from a parasite that is expanding from multiple states. And I just wanted to say, don't have any salads. This is courtesy of RFK and Elon Musk. They cut the funding where they monitor the bacteria that causes explosive diarrhea.
16They cut it, cut the funding, because as I always say, MAGA is a death cult. And now MAGA is a diarrhea cult. And so in more ways than one, literally and figuratively, MAGA is explosive diarrhea cult. A shit cult. Is that what you're saying? Explosive shit, to be exact. No one should be surprised. Remember what happened with Pete Hegseth when he took away the flu vaccine, right? Or the flu shot that they had to have. And then people started getting the flu and they had to give it back. They do it because, you know, vaccines, they don't work. None of that works in the MAGA world until people start getting sick.
56So, no, I don't want that, but, you know, I could stand to lose a few pounds. Get you right back to your goal weight. That's for sure. Maybe you do want to go through Taco Bell and get you a big lettuce bowl. All right, listener. Jen, thank you. I just want to say, this is what you said about me and Nolan Wells, that story. That is what it is to be an ally. That is what it's like to be open-minded about our country and learning about other people who are different than us, who may not look like us. So thank you for that. Thank you for your coverage, Don. You're the only one who's really covering this every night.
34And so continue to do so because people, you need to help shine a light on this. And you are a real journalist that can keep probing and keep your eye on this and keep shining a light on whatever happened because there needs to be justice and explanation surrounding this. And so for those of you that don't know, this week was on my channel. Next week will be on Don's channel. And every Friday we're dropping these Welch's Lemonade, the weekend read. We do. The weekend, we're dropping them. And no matter where, when I was away overseas, I'm like, I got to get to my girl, Jen. Next week, I'll be in Italy.
14You can take time off. You can take time. If you want to take time off, Jen, I'm totally fine with that. Seriously. I can't do it because you already said that you were in France and you still did it. And then you were in Greece and you still did it. And then I'm going to Italy. I'm going to be in Italy next week. And I don't want to look like the loser deadbeat asshole member of the team because you're an over when do you leave we can take before i leave next wednesday maybe we tape before i want you to have a good vacation i do too but i'll tell you what i'm not going to be outshined or outworked by don lemon come hell or high water it is not happening okay i know because we're both tired jen get us one of those my pillow pillows and you know bring me you're tired you're poor you're sick you're hungry we'll get our our my pillows and goes have a little sleep over at the Statue of Liberty.
59Don, I love you. Have fun at the beach. Give Tim my love. And we'll thank you. Bye. Bye.
