In short

The episode discusses Hunter Biden’s Twitter responses to MAGA accusations about drug use, and uses that as a springboard to criticize Trump-aligned politics—especially Christian nationalism and far-right currents at events like CPAC and “Rededicate 250.” It also highlights what the hosts portray as normalization of extremist ideas.

Guest backgrounds

Jason Selvig of The Good Liars, who interviews MAGA supporters at Trump rallies and attends conservative events.

Key claims

Hunter Biden’s “unfiltered” posts are framed as calling out hypocrisy; MAGA fixation on Hunter’s drug details is treated as “minutia.” The episode argues younger conservatives at CPAC are increasingly aligned with white-nationalist ideas, and that Christian nationalist activism is becoming mainstream.

Notable examples

Hunter’s exchanges with “TeamTrump47” (Ashley) and a MAGA user (Mike Spirazza) about “snorting coke.” Jason distributing “Epstein files” at CPAC. Interviews about demons/Satan and Bible-as-science claims at “Rededicate 250.” A GOP candidate Victor Marks refusing to quantify killings.

04Hunter Biden is taking to Twitter. He's talking about the crack smoking. MAGA is arguing with him saying, no, you snorted it. It's great stuff. And here to discuss this with me is my good friend, Jason Selvig of The Good Liars. You can follow him at Jason Selvig on all platforms. Jason, I want you to take a look at this tweet here. A MAGA guy named Mike Spirazza tweeted this to Hunter. there's a video of you snorting coke off a hooker's ass hunter and hunter responds let me ask you a question mike if i'm telling you i smoked crack why in the world would i lie about snorting it there's plenty of pictures of me smoking crack doing all sorts of stupid things with all sorts of people and rarely with clothes on but not snorting cocaine facts matter facts matter It begs the question though, I mean, is he running?

00Is this happening? It seems like he's gearing up for a presidential run now by just coming after people on Twitter and being a troll on Twitter. But how great is it to see somebody who's completely untethered, who has said, I smoked crack. I smoked it with hookers. I smoked it butt ass naked. There's video evidence of it. Come at me. Yeah, exactly. And he's like, I've made it very clear that I've moved past the snorting phase. I needed to be smoking my cocaine at this point. Come at me with this. So I mean, it's kind of refreshing to see a Biden kind of unfiltered. During the election, it seemed like Joe Biden was, I mean, he wasn't talking to people.

42And now at least there's a Biden who's out there interacting with people. I don't know, was Joe Biden probably never wrote a tweet in his life? Do you think he wrote a tweet? I don't know. That's a great question. The tweets would always be like, folks, listen. So it sounds like him, but I just can't picture him being like, I got to fire. Listen up, wise guy. Yeah, listen up, wise guy. Hey, Jack, seriously, Jack. But, you know, it's kind of refreshing to see him going out there with the gloves off Hunter Biden. And I love that MAGA are so obsessed with Hunter that they still want to fight over the minutia of if it was snorted or smoked.

21Right, right, right. It's like that's the important part of it. And it's like they posted all these pictures. You know, there's a lot of embarrassing images of him out there. Obviously, these are dark times in his life when this was happening. But he's just kind of trying to own it. And it's also a little weird because it's like, why are you so still obsessed with me, man? Like, why are we still talking about Hunter Biden? Like, why is this still the obsession of MAGA, the Joe Biden, the Hunter Biden? And like, I found that at Trump rallies when we talk to people about Trump and ask him, ask people about stuff that Donald Trump's done.

54We always hear like, but Joe Biden. And it's like, but Hunter Biden. But why are we still even talking about like, why is it still like a point of interest for people, I guess? Okay. And then here, somebody saying, is he a MAGA whisperer? Look at this exchange. Ashley, TeamTrump47 says, what's on your laptop, Hunter? And Hunter says, go look for yourself, Ashley. it's been available to anyone and everyone since it was hacked and stolen years ago have you been living under a rock and she says i'd rather live under a rock than smoke it peace sign and he goes me too it was awful and she goes well damn hunter that makes me sad glad you're off that stuff hope you stay clean you deserve a better life than you were living good luck kill them with kindness i mean that was actually a kind of a beautiful exchange there have you ever had that thing happened the bot was malfunctioning the ai bot was malfunctioning being like i think i'm supposed to respond this way uh if somebody says something heartfelt it's like was that a real person i don't know wait can we bring that back up what was their name team trump 47 team trump 47 ashley okay all right well verified account okay well that means a lot these days okay let's watch some of your videos.

11So listener, finally, finally, Jason and his partner, DeVrom, they get of the good liars. They go to all these Trump rallies and they interview all these Trumpers. And you're known for interviewing MAGA supporters at Trump rallies. And this first clip is from the Matt Schlapp led CPAC conference. And listener, you all know my obsession with Matt Schlapp and his wife, Mercedes Schlapp, who has the Christian stuff in her Twitter profile. Matt Schlapp, every time he's at a CPAC conference, he gets all liquored up and starts grabbing penises. Guess who doesn't grab penises? Hunter Biden, but Matt Schlapp does.

47So here is Jason handing out Epstein files at a Trump rally. Handing out Epstein files to people. Oh, thank you. You guys want one as well? What is it? Other Epstein files. Let's see which one you got. You never know what you're gonna get. What is that? It's like a drawing of a naked woman. Note that Donald Trump wrote to Jeffrey Epstein for his birthday. That's Donald Trump and Jelaine Maxwell. He wished her well in 2020. He says, I want you to realize that the dog that has embarked is Trump, Jeffrey, Jeffrey Epstein, says, nor will I. Fake news? No, these are actually in the files. These were in the Epstein files.

17No, no, I want you to keep that. We don't want it. We don't want your propaganda. Go take it. Where's that? You know exactly where that is. In the dark somewhere, under a car that's parked. Tell me about, like, that whole experience. Well, CPAC is an interesting place. Have you ever been to CPAC? Well, of course not. Well, you say, of course not. I don't know. Maybe you've been to, I've been to several CPACs. So 50 % of this. I'm not as big of a masochist as you are. I guess not. I mean, CPAC is a really bizarre place because it's, it is, it's like a Comic-Con for Trump. And you've got like Trump bedazzled jackets that are being sold, like Trump Jesus imagery.

02Even before he put out his Jesus meme, there were people that have selling things that are saying Trump is close to God and things like that. So it's very, very bizarre. But handing out the Epstein files there, it struck me how many people were like, this is not real. This is fake. This is fake news. It's like, no, that note was in there. That's a note that Donald Trump said was fake news and not real and sued the Wall Street Journal about. But that was in the Epstein files. And these things exist. and there is a weird connection with Donald Trump. But CPAC as a whole, it was interesting this last time that I went, a lot of the people we talked to, the younger people, they were just there to see the death of CPAC.

44They were like, this is over. This might be the last year it happens. Because a lot of the younger people, which by the way, their belief system from the few people that I talked to there, for people under 30 or maybe you could say under 50 at CPAC, I don't know. Yeah. Their belief system, it's like they are much more raised on the Charlie Kirk and the turning point of it all. And a lot of the things that we heard basically sounded like white nationalism, like in that America is a Christian nation and it was founded by Europeans. And like all these things that if you were to say in like 2016, you know, the beginning of Trump would be like, this is like David Duke stuff you're saying right now.

28And now this is like kind of the mainstream for some of the younger people who are there in the conservative movement now. I think that's a little worrying for the future when you're like – I think a lot of people look at this and be like, oh my gosh, it's MAGA. MAGA. Trump is like the head of the snake with this. When Trump's out of office, this is all going to disappear. When I do think there's actually something that's like bubbling – I don't even know if it's under the surface – now that is a little more dangerous than Trump. It doesn't have that kind of narcissistic, whichever way the wind's blowing with him type of impulsivity, I guess.

05But it is, I think, a little bit more dangerous in its actual foundations of the viewpoints. Where Trump's viewpoints are, I'm important. He's going to say some terrible stuff around the way. But the most important thing with Trump is Trump. this is i think something that has a foundation that is a little more toxic than than even like the maga movement is now i agree with you i have been saying that uh you know like the tea party incubated maga and maga is incubating something worse yeah this is these are crack smokers and they're building a tolerance level these conservatives and they're going to have to take bigger hits and now so are we though like i'm not kidding like i i think like i'm not to say say you or me but like i think like the whole world the whole united states like we see the news come out we hear some of the things that people are saying and like it's become some really terrible things that are being said are being normalized in a way where you're you just don't have the reaction to them anymore and i think that's that's a scary part too where it's like a lot of kids are listening to nick fuentes and i've talked to a lot of like parents who say they're like kids are listening to nick fuentes this is just like on the road talking to people And I think we don't really understand maybe like what when that wave of people, when they become like the elected officials, like what that's going to mean.

25Because these are the people following. J.D. Vance refuses to condemn these Nazi group chats. Yeah. And what's so interesting about that is in the Nazi group chats, it's just racism, pro-white nationalist stuff. And he's married to a woman of Indian descent and he has a mixed race child. And he can't even condemn these Nazi chats. So that tells you that inside the Death Star, they know what their younger electorate is feasting on, which goes to your point of what you have experienced on the ground at CPAC. Yeah. Yeah. And look, I think it goes back to 2016 when Donald Trump was asked about disavowing David Duke.

03Oh my God, I forgot about that. You know, it's like there was a knowledge within that circle that you don't want to alienate these people. You need to give them a little bit of red meat every once in a while, or at least say things with a subtext of what they believe. And I found that from talking to people at Trump rallies too. People who have said some of the worst, some of the things we haven't even put out because they're so bad, they truly believe that that's what Donald Trump believes. They believe that Donald Trump is that racist. There's also people that don't think Donald Trump's racist and don't consider themselves racist and they support Donald Trump as well.

45But it's the fact that Donald Trump's giving a little bit of something for everyone that I think is a little worrying about the whole thing. It's really worrying. Let's look at one of your videos where you ask a Trump supporter about the war in Iran. Are demons real? Yes, absolutely. What are demons? Who do you think is behind hatred, violence, murder, spirits of suicide and all that? That's Satan. It's demons, demonic spirits. A school was destroyed. It's full of girls. It was bombed. Do you think Satan was behind that? Yes, absolutely. He's behind all the violence and hatred. So when the U.S.

24bombed the school in Iran, do you think Satan was the one behind that? No, I don't, because those young kids, a young child, will go to heaven if they die. That wasn't like moving the goalposts. That was just like moving to a totally different field in a different sport. It was like, that was a football game that ended up on a tennis court at the end of that. That was at the Rededicate 250, which was like the Christian nationalist gathering put on by the Trump administration. in Washington, D.C., I think two and a half weeks ago. And that was an interesting experience because a lot of the people we talked to there, number one, want the Bible taught in school.

09They want the Bible taught as historic fact in public schools. Like the earth is 6 ,000 years old. Noah was 900 years old. That is a fact. He was 900 years old. And that dinosaurs existed within the last 2 ,000 years. Those are things that should be taught in history and science class if all these people got their way. It was a very, very bizarre experience being there because number one is put on by the US government. Most of the people believed that, and I think it was put on by the US, it was definitely put on like Pete Hegseth and all them were speaking there. There were people there that believed that there should not be separation of church and state that is not an important part of the united states if anything it should be more connected and the church should be able to have more influence and that's what the separation of church and state means that the government won't influence the church not the church can't be directly involved with influencing the government so i know you haven't been to a cpac but maybe go to a rededicate well i'm i grew up in oklahoma in oklahoma so you've been you live I lived in CPAC.

19And so I'm abundantly aware of how much these Christian nationalists want to integrate religion into schools. Brian Walters. Yeah, the Ten Commandments, that he bought the Trump Bibles. And as a side hustle, he sat in his car all the time and filmed TikToks about trans woke ideology with his baby's car seat from behind. He just filed for divorce. It was just interesting for a traditional married guy. What does it say about that in the Bible? Are you supposed to do it? I think you're not supposed to do that. Oh, interesting. Yeah, I thought it was. And now he's not going to be in a traditional family anymore.

54Oh, my gosh. Well, what do you think God thinks about this? Which tells me I would think that God said you didn't pray hard enough. Well, he obviously didn't pray hard enough. He said put his phone down and start getting on his knees. I think he is getting on his knees. That's just my own personal take. I get a gay darping from Ryan Walters. No comment. I'm not going to be involved in whatever lawsuit is going to come. but i uh the christian nationalist stuff is something that i believe the democrats always treated as fringe and when i lived in oklahoma i knew how serious ambitious and wealthy these people were because i lived in i knew how organized they were trump's just a useful idiot for them and i saw how the democratic party you could argue that they're useful right and the democratic party just argues i mean just just oh that's french that's french that's french And now the fringe control the, you know, executive branch.

50Look at how nutty these Supreme Court justices are. I mean, they're as fringe as all get out. And Moses Mike Grindor Johnson, the Speaker of the House, this is a guy who says, this is on tape. He got up and he said, yeah, you know, I was praying and then God woke me up one night in the middle of the night. And he goes, hey, you're Moses. And Mike goes, me? and i'm just like this cannot be normalized this is a crazy person on the street corner yeah exactly he is sitting i have visions i have visions and he looks around as though god is talking to somebody else when he's in bed at night it's just the weirdest shit on the planet but these people are so serious one thing i think that you really get from these people that's really good is you you a thinker a person who critically thinks follows your thought immediately you're like, don't you disagree with murder?

46Absolutely. It's horrible. And so when God committed genocide in the flood, would you oppose that? And then they immediately don't get the cognitive dissonance. Yeah. Like God can do whatever he wants. That's the total, that's the difference of it. Yeah. It's like, is God pro-life? Yeah, he is, except for killing everyone on earth, except for six people, which we found out. This is like a sidebar from this, but we went to the Ark Encounter in Kentucky. There's a creation museum and an Ark Encounter. I mean, you're going to have to pay a lot to park. You're going to have to pay a lot to go inside.

22It's a racket. The whole thing's racket, but you go inside and it's a life-size recreation of Noah's Ark. There's dinosaurs inside, every single different type of dinosaur. I mean, they're not real life dinosaurs. They're just animatronic dinosaurs right uh and they then the really most the kind of the most interesting exhibit there are the people who go to the ark encounter because you're watching them look at all this and being like this is it i'm learning this is how it happened and then they're like the sad part is they're telling their kids like there you go you see they're smaller dinosaurs that's how they fit them on the ark that's how they that's how it happened um and man this just came into my head from the rededication somebody said the earth was around 2 000 years old too which kind of blew my mind because the everyone's believed that jesus was alive around 2 000 years ago so it's like was earth was created and then jesus was born or was jesus born before earth was created but anyway these are the those are the type of people and what's happened to my brain after talking to them for so long uh but if you have a chance to go to the ark encounter you should check it out i'll go with you again if you want to pay there yeah oh my god that shit is it's so insane i remember uh growing up around people that were so it's i i liken it to religious addiction these people are so addicted to the religion and this form of Christianity promotes a style of Christian narcissism where the Pope right now, and I'm an atheist.

57So for me to be a fan of the Pope is a big fucking deal, right? So the Pope is talking about social justice, about helping the poor, blah, blah. My friends in Oklahoma, their form of Christianity is they have this friend that does personal favors for them. Like I was, I was going to be late. And then all of a sudden, God turned the traffic light green, and I never even had to hit the brake. And I didn't know if I was going to make it in the door on time. And I'll be, you know, I'll be gosh darned, I pulled up and there was a spot, a parking spot right in the front. Praise be, you know, these little personal favors, and it feeds this narcissism.

31And I can't tell you how many friends I've had in Oklahoma, that will say things like, well, God just, you know, he really protected me and my family from this. And I'll say, well, what about, you know, the, the families in the Holocaust? What do you think he, did he not protect them? And they'll say, well, I just think God likes me a lot. He likes me a lot. They believe that there is a favorite. Oklahoma. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. More than, yeah. Did you get that from them that they, they were the chosen one, the favorites and God does personal favors for them? Yes. And there was like, it, this isn't true of all the people.

05But there's like a smugness to it a little bit where I was talking to people and like having a nice conversation for a little bit. And then I would ask them about the meme that Trump had posted where he basically said he's Jesus Christ and they had light coming out of his hands. What did they say? A couple of people immediately when I asked that were like, I'll pray for you without answering the question. For you? For me. and then they put their hands on me and started praying which is like admittedly i'd never like experienced that deflection before where it's like i'm not going to answer the question but i'll pray for you and like you better not interrupt this direct line i have with god right now because that would be pretty rude did you head down did you go i mean it was a lot of like looking around like okay this is happening thank you i appreciate that do you want to answer the question um but i think that happened four times and it wasn't always it was ever whenever i asked a follow-up to something they said like one time was separation of church and state but the jesus meme was a big one was like i'll pray for you like i feel sorry for you that i that i can't answer this question right now about this i feel sorry for you the sinner sinner yes donald trump yes not donald trump not the guy who's acting like he's jesus christ yes he was a doctor he was a doctor he was people that does this look like a doctor and they're like one guy at a trump rally said well if donald trump says it's a doctor it's a doctor it's just close you guys have got to follow him on it's it's fascinating the uh the when you interview these people i want to get your take on this my producers played this for me this morning this is so crazy so this is the wildest political story of the week.

52And that bar is so fucking low. So, all right, here we go. Here is a GOP gubernatorial candidate named Victor Marks being asked a very simple question, black or white, yes or no question. Play the clip. Your claim that your abusive stepfather forced you to kill a man when you were seven years old. Is that the only person you've ever killed?

24Well, I would say as a child, yes, without question. But I've been in other situations where possibly people or persons died as a result of me defending myself in other countries. Do you think that you've killed people as an adult? does it matter yeah I'd say so if someone's trying to kill you or you're in combat it's still it's still a weighty thing to take somebody else's life I mean it could be self-defense it could be justified but it's still a weighty thing so I'm just asking you how many people have you killed? Well, if I did, I wouldn't be telling a reporter sitting here, my training center.

22How about voters? Would you tell voters? There's no need. I don't think that's important. It's actually kind of. Okay. So Jason, let me ask you this. It would be amazing if he was just like, you know what? I'm going to pray for you. I'm going to pray for you. and just put it. Did you kill somebody? I'm going to pray for you. I feel sorry for you. I'm going to pray for you. Do you think murder is a big deal when you go to the voting booth? I don't know. I mean, define murder. Murder as a child, when you're a child or as an adult? I got to understand what the question is here. Is murdering someone a big deal?

06I would say that would be a big deal you know i would want to know the circumstances but it sounds like he was like list it was like being like stuff you drunk stuff you did in college like did i like go streaking last night or whatever that's a bad example i never went streaking i want to get that image out of your mind uh but like just like trying to remember stuff he did when he was drunk or something like did i do that did i have a shot of tequila i don't remember and then he's just like, it seems like there's more than one, I guess is my point. He was like, I don't know if that person survived.

42They could have, but I did see the body floating in the water face down, so maybe they didn't. Then another thing popped into his head like, oh, that guy. Well, he was on the train. Oh, yeah, the train ran him over.

59I've said this before, but I think everyone who's running for office should be hooked up to a lie detector. And that should be, instead of debates, it should be just everyone gets the same questions and they're hooked up to a lie detector. And I wouldn't have thought before this interview that have you ever killed someone should be one of the questions, but now I think it should. I do too. And then that brings us back to how we started the episode. Hunter Biden would be a great candidate in that regard, because in order to maintain sobriety, you have to live a life of daily rigorous honesty. And so he's just like on Twitter, yeah, smoked crack, did it.

36Fucked hookers, guilty as charged. Is that where the Democratic Party is now that we're like Hunter Biden is our answer for something? I don't know. No, I don't think Hunter should run. I do think that we are in a stage. Maybe VP. I think we're in a stage of politics where I like the fact, this is what I like about Hunter. I I don't think he should run. I like the fact that the Republicans went bananas for years over him, bananas. And then now you've got Ivanka, dumb, dumber, even Barron's getting in on enriching himself. And Hunter Biden is calling every single one of these motherfuckers out to their face.

15And he's actually taken a knife to a knife fight and calling out these fucking hypocrites. And I like that. i like seeing a democrat whether it's in the you know on the internet or on news shows or wherever fighting back and saying you sat around and lied about me you're still lying about me you you pussies he's told eric i'll fight you in the ufc match on the white house lawn and i just kind of like that i like somebody bullying these people back and that's what i like about hunter no i i mean i i agree i agree and i would pay good money to to see that fight i would say that fight i feel like you could take on both Don Jr.

51and Eric. Oh, I think he's scrappy. I don't know who would win, but it would be like, it would be an interesting fight. It would be an interesting fight. I put my money on Hunter. And we know that cage isn't going anywhere. That's staying there. So that might be a weekly occurrence. That might be what he does with his political enemies. You know, this is what the Roman empire did. I know this is it. They had the, they sent all of the, to the Coliseum and had the gladiators do more and more fights while Rome was burning. Yes. And he and Trump is going to be watching while the gas prices are$20 a gallon and he's going to be sitting from his perch in the White House.

24Eating a fish fillet. Eating a fish fillet, sipping a Diet Coke while two men beat the shit out of each other into a bloody pulp. And he'll probably turn him on based on all the stuff I've heard him say lately about men. And do you think that's a possibility at his advanced age? um i i don't think pumps always points out that she doesn't think the blood that's in the cankles could travel to the penis yeah and i think that's a really good point that's a great point but i do still think that trump is in his deathbed confession era okay and he just now he just can't quit talking about like people he thinks are hot and it always happens to be men yeah he's he's always saying how good looking everyone is and don't forget when he gave the microphone a blowjob on the campaign trail was striking familiarity.

10Remember that? I do remember that. I do remember that. And that was like one of his famous meltdowns at, to where he gets super mad at the people running tech and blames them for anything wrong. When you get mad, don't you simulate giving oral sex? Absolutely. Isn't that just a basic... I would do it right now, but I'm very happy right now.

32Jason Selving, thank you. I love having you on. Thank you for having me on. I will have DeBrom on it. I'm so excited for your book. Oh, yes. Thank you. I cannot believe - Have you pre-ordered yours? I just pre-ordered it this morning. Perfect. I'm excited about it. Here it is. Not Today Fascist. And we'll dedicate, I dedicate every time I promote the book to a fascist. Who should we dedicate today's commercial to? I wanted to, I feel like Stephen Miller, I asked a lot of people about him this weekend and some of the Trump supporters said they loved him and thought he was handsome and didn't creep them out at all and some of the other people this was at delaney hall and some of the anti-ice protesters had very mean things to say about stephen miller but he's been on my mind unfortunately stephen miller so i'm gonna dedicate it to him and i met him and i've touched him before and you live to tell and i live to tell that i haven't been the same since i noticed something different there's something different about the last time yeah stephen miller cooties.

31Yes, it's cooties. Well, I think it's more like in the blood. My blood is turning black. Anyway, talk to my doctor. They're going to put me on. Ivermectin. Ivermectin. Some other horse drugs. My veterinarian is my doctor. I should say that. But yes. Yes.

52All right. All right. We'll see you all later.

00Thank you.
