In short

The hosts riff on travel annoyances (being banned from WhatsApp, bad airport etiquette, loud couples, seat allocation disputes, and “dad joke”/idle chit-chat behavior), then pivot to political commentary about MAGA propaganda, corporate Democrats vs progressives, and criticism of figures like Pete Hegseth and Caroline Levitt. They end with listener voice memos and a call for unity against fascism.

Guests (voice memo contributors)

Rory (Canadian gay triad; originally from England) complains about a standby couple repeatedly trying to change seats on a flight and holding hands through seatbacks. Jen R (blue dot in a red state) argues against giving testosterone to the military and criticizes MAGA hypocrisy; she also discusses Pete Hegseth and Caroline Levitt. Olivia (repeat caller) attacks “old white men” jokes after a hospital elevator remark about “kicking your wife” and his torn Achilles.

Key claims

Airports require basic social conformity; loud public behavior is obnoxious; MAGA/propagandists lie and target women; corporate Democrats are preferable to Republicans but may lack fight.

Notable examples

deodorant causing extreme BO on a short flight; a couple’s performative passport interrogation and “I’m going to kill you” banter; the hospital elevator “joke.”

0:02Angie Sullivan:So are we supposed to start the podcast? Ready? One, two, three. Patriots, gay triots, they triots, black triots, brown triots, any triots, any member of the Antifa, DEI, anti-Trump community, we love you. And anybody who is a part of the fascist MAGA aligned community can do what, pumps okay pumps did you hear while you were gone josh subbed for you okay he would go

0:39we should i haven't heard it we need to get together and he can do that like it's we can do a threesome and it'd be like i like it get a record out we might even have as many listeners on spotify as cash patel's girlfriend.

0:54Angie Sullivan:I like it. Okay. So I want to know what your grievance is and I'm hoping it's travel related since this is your first, I've had it since you came back from vacation. I have so many travel habits. I've had it. I was hoping. Okay. Number one, I got banned from WhatsApp. So I've had it with WhatsApp, the app. Banned. Banned from WhatsApp. How? Okay. So I haven't used it since November. I use it to communicate with people in foreign countries because that's how you do it over there. So I had gotten a couple texts between November and whenever I left August. And it was like, you need, if you don't use your thing, if you don't use your WhatsApp, it's going to be deactivated.

1:38And I'm like, I don't give a fuck if it's deactivated. I never use it. So I arrive, I immediately reset on WhatsApp and it says, well, we need to review your, you know, your request. So then I get a text from them the next day that says your phone number. And it says my phone number is banned from using WhatsApp. Please contact customer service for assistance. And I'm like, how does one get banned from WhatsApp? So now I am officially banned from WhatsApp. And I'm just like, number one, go fuck yourself. WhatsApp. Like, why am I banned just because I didn't use it for eight months, not deactivated, just banned.

2:19So, I mean, I've never been banned. So I feel like I'm some kind of like interloper in the criminal mind that I'm banned from something which is kind of cool in a lot of ways. I, with you, I know that

2:37Angie Sullivan:a lot of times, because we've been friends for a very, very, very long time, there's got to be more to the story. There's we're missing a component. The listener and I are missing some good details. I don't think you're privy to these details either. I just want to say that from the outset. But I do think we need to launch an investigation. Because this is the kind of stuff if you're not going to date, getting banned from apps is really good content. I applaud you for that. This is as close as I'm going to get. And I even thought like, remember my old email that I for everything like purchases and stuff got hacked.

3:12And I thought, is my phone number now in charge? Like, did I get hacked on my email? They've been using my phone number for some kind of weird fucked up shit. And so you think I should call WhatsApp and ask and just say, why'd I get banned?

3:26Angie Sullivan:Yes, a hundred percent. We need to know. I need for you to record it too. That's a big ask, but I'll try. You can figure it out. I, I, but, or just have, have your daughter record it with her phone next year is on speakerphone. But I think that, uh, there's some interesting tidbits there. I mean, hopefully it's not anticlimactic. Hopefully I like this whole theory that your phone, your email was hacked and that maybe they hacked into your WhatsApp too. Yeah. Maybe. I mean, who knows? I might be a transnational, you know, drug Lord and don't even know it. Exactly. Exactly. And that's exactly what I'm hoping for.

4:05Yeah. Yeah. And in fact, when I was going through Homeland Security on the way back in, I thought, oh God, here we go. If my WhatsApp reported me that I'm, you know, I mean, you just have that crazy theory. And then of course it was fine, but I just was like, what's going on with WhatsApp? And then I'll tell you another thing I've had it with on traveling. And you pointed this out. Okay. Not long ago. Do not, if you're going to be in an airport changing planes, riding in airplanes, which are very confined spaces, the natural deodorant has got to go. It is just, we had a guy behind us on a flight.

4:40Thank goodness it was just from Dallas to Oklahoma City, which is short. He reeked so bad that my daughter and I, our eyes were watering. And I'm just like, how do you not know? And it has to be the natural deodorant thing, which if you want to wear natural deodorant by, you know, when you're home alone or just around your family, suit yourself. I don't care. But when you're in a public space and you stink so badly that people that sitting a whole roll in front of you have tears in their eyes, that's fucking bad. I mean, that's bad. And you think, how do you not know it? But you know, sometimes you don't know when you smell, I guess.

5:22Angie Sullivan:Yeah. I, uh, I have experienced this quite a bit. I remember there was one particular incident that I brought up last summer when I brought this up, I was in Newark and we're standing in line TSA and there was a guy and it was so pungent. It was so overwhelming. And I just thought this is not acceptable. This is where we need to have armpit sniffers. Which I would be Yes. You know, the minute somebody says, do I have BO? I'm the first one that's like, I mean, just get right in their armpits. So I will volunteer. I'll do it. And just be like, you can't board this flight. We've got to have armpit sniffers because it's in that contained space.

6:07Angie Sullivan:All right. Mine is travel related as well. So I'm in Los Angeles right now. And I had to fly here from New York. And there was a couple that were in front of me in the boarding line. And then they sat right in front of me on the airplane. And then they were right next to me at the baggage claim. And this couple, they made their presence known. First of all, he had bright blue hair and she had bright purple hair, which I support. Right. So that in and of itself is like, oh, it's the people with the cool hair. They're probably around 60. So the bright hair with that age was another thing that makes them more noticeable.

6:54Angie Sullivan:And all of that is fine. And all of that is I support. I support every single bit of that. What I don't support regarding this couple is how loud they were. When we were standing in line to board the plane, they spoke to where somebody 20 people back behind in the line could hear. It was performative communication. There's no reason that they were talking at the volume they were speaking unless they wanted all eyes on them. and then we got on the plane and they are sitting one is sitting by the window on this side and one sitting by the window on that side and they are screaming back and forth to each other a lot of the flights i have to put on my earphones and then crank it all the way up and then when we get off i put my earphones up and then he starts looking at her and he goes do you have your passport she says yes he goes do you have your passport yes do you have your passport?

7:54Angie Sullivan:Yes. And she's like, I'm going to kill you. And he's saying it this led to you. Do you have your passport? And he's trying to irritate her. And it just goes on and on and on. And then we get down to baggage claim and they're right next to me. And the performative communication continues. You know how a toddler's really loud because they want everybody to look at them? Right. This is what these people were doing. And I could tell in the baggage carousel, they were very affectionate towards one another i could tell that like him doing do you have the passport do you have the passport and her saying i'm going to kill you that they loved the they love each other and that she loved him kind of needling her so then i went through this thing like are they the asshole or am i the asshole you know like am i just so bad about trump and all of this shit why do i care if they're loud but i kind of do it was really annoying like i I think they could have brought it down a little bit, but then also like, I could tell they really dick each other.

8:54Angie Sullivan:I mean, right. All of the performative communication they were doing, I could genuinely see the chemistry between them and like that they, I don't know if they were like video game designers or something. Cause they were talking about some project they had going on and like, yeah, we'll give, and it sounded like a character. We'll give her an extra. And then, so then, and then I'm like, my, I'm the one that's paying all this attention to them. Right. It's about me having a choice because they were so loud. You couldn't help, but pay any attention to them. But I'm just wondering, like, I guess people can be both annoying and kind of cute and sweet at the same time.

9:28Angie Sullivan:But anyway, long story short, I've had it with people that talk really loudly in public spaces. Crank it, dial it back a little bit. Not everybody needs to hear your conversation. To be fair, Jennifer, I have the thought all the time. Would this bother me if Kamala Harris were president and things were just normal? running the country or am I just ready to be mad at everybody? Which I will tell you, that was one super nice thing about being away. I turned off all my notifications and it was just like the weight of the world lifted off me. And then when I started, you know, getting back into it and reading and all that, I found the same thing.

10:07But in your defense, you have been on my ass about being loud in spaces because I am loud by nature for 20 years. So I think a part of it is people loud in public spaces are obnoxious. I'm obnoxious when I do it. I always welcome the correction because I didn't realize I'm doing it. But yeah, so I don't know. I just think there are certain rules in society everybody needs to conform to. I think when you go to an airport, that is the number one place that you need to conform to the general societal norms. And it seems to be the one place that people cannot do that consistently, like time after time after time.

10:49They just can't conform. And I get like, if you want to be a rebel, I'm all for it. But at the boarding gate, that's not the time. Yeah.

11:01Angie Sullivan:So I think in conclusion to the introduction of this podcast episode, wear deodorant and shut the fuck up at the airport. All right. Welcome to I've Had It. I'm Jennifer. I'm Angie. kylie hi hi um i have bad news i actually found out i accidentally bought natural deodorant and i've been using it for like a month and i didn't realize it and i just kept being like i kind of smell at the end of the day yourself i just i kind of smell and then i looked and it looked just like my old deodorant but it said aluminum free so i've been an offender for a month without knowing really did anna say anything that's what i was just gonna ask no she didn't say anything i think she likes me too much to like think i smell that bad you know yeah i don't think that's a possibility i don't think you can like somebody so much like even though you love your kids more than anything you know if they have a shitty diaper like you can smell it well i fixed the problem so did you get real deodorant i got real deodorant um i've got two reviews for you guys today five stars new kink unlocked and michael writes i'm a new listener and trigger warning also a man i've seen you in my algorithm but never actually listened to the pod after binging a few episodes i fear you may have unlocked a new kink in me who knew that quote intelligent women eviscerating maga men would do it for me not in a sexual way i'm no baby Moses Mike Grinder Johnson, but boy, does it scratch an itch.

12:32Angie Sullivan:I love this. I love, I love, there are good straight men out there. There are, and we have to remind each other and we need to elevate those voices as the antidote to these toxic manosphere bullshit men. Um, because there's a lot of them too. Yeah. They seem to be the loudest speaking of loud. And I will say, Jennifer, of all the people on planet earth, in my experience, you're the best at coming up with nicknames like immediately on the fly. Like you don't even know it's happening. It's not preplanned and you say something and it's fucking hilarious. So I'm going to call you the nickname queen of the world.

13:16Thank you.

13:16Angie Sullivan:Thank you. You're the star of the show, but I am the nickname queen. Right. Right. It's a good, it's a good trade-off. All right, listener, what is softer than cashmere and warmer than wool? That is not a riddle. It's an alpaca hoodie. And I had to check it out after hearing some of my favorite podcasters talking about how much she loved her pack a hoodie. Paka makes outdoor and lifestyle apparel from alpaca fiber, one of the world's most sustainable natural fibers. Their best selling hoodie is softer than cashmere, warmer than wool, but it's so, so breathable. Over 250 ,000 people have already picked up the Paka hoodie and that's what makes it even better.

14:02Angie Sullivan:I love my Paka hoodie. I got one in like this beautiful beige color and it's my airport hoodie because I'm always freezing on airplanes. If you've been thinking about leveling up your hoodie game, this is your sign to do it because you can grab your pack of hoodie by going to www.packapparel.com. That's www.pakaapparel.com. All right, listener, I've been dealing with this shaving my legs problem my entire life. Irritations, redness, and groans. I'm always cutting my leg, bleeding, Band-Aid. It's been a disaster. But recently, I made a switch to a new razor called Flamingo, and I am so surprised by how smooth and gentle the shave is.

14:50Angie Sullivan:Absolutely no bumps or irritation, and it was the closest shave I've ever had. Flamingo was born to give women shaving solutions to make their bodies feel better. Please support our show and let them know that we sent you. all right who's next okay we've got hb pop changing the world five stars and they write i started listening to ihip around 2024 and have been spreading the ihip agenda ever since it's gotten to a point where my mom is such a fan that i think she has watched more of the episodes than me as we know the important thing is that the fight against fascism is ongoing and we need all voices to yell about these issues as often and as loud as possible i so appreciate what you all do Lastly, some of the candidates you have brought on recently have helped guide my campaign donations.

16:31Whether it's El Sayed or Oliver Larkin, we can defeat MAGA and get these bought and paid for Dems out. Let the fight on her.

16:43Angie Sullivan:Yeah, I think that's excellent. You know, it's as we approach these midterms, it's it's I like probably a lot of you at home are experiencing what I'm about to say. Like, I desperately want progressive candidates that aren't bought and paid for now. And then in those progressive candidates, I'm looking for about an 85 percent agreement rate on 80 to 85 percent because no candidate I'm going to agree with everything on. But then this red state trauma that I have from living in Oklahoma for 50 years and seeing the harm reduction abilities of a corporate Democrat to not give rapists more rights than women.

17:32Angie Sullivan:And I can go on down the list. And so I've kind of, for the midterms, adopted this mindset that I want the most progressive candidate to win. And if that candidate cannot win, then if there's a corporate Democrat in there, I'm just all chips in on them. Right. Because living in a MAGA red state like Oklahoma, and you see that it is ranked 50th for women to live and that the politicians there and a lot of women go out and vote for women that look like pumps in me. They vote for their daughter's rapist to have more rights than their daughter. They vote for guns to have more rights than their elementary school aged children.

18:16And it's just for people that live in these red states that are marginalized, they don't have the luxury of deciding between a corporate DEM or a progressive DEM.

18:31Angie Sullivan:Although I agree with all of the conversations that corporate DEMs have incubated this situation. I agree with that. But I just want our list to be number one, defeat MAGA. Number two, you know, build a huge coalition. And I see on the Democratic side, a lot of, you know, tug of war and fighting going on. And I think some of that's good to an extent, I think disagreement in a party is good. But it's gotten to a point where like people are mad at us because we're not corporate Democrats. And that's fine. You know, I put my we put our names out here all the time. But I don't know, there's just, I wish that we could all unite fascism and defeating them.

19:16Angie Sullivan:That's the number one thing. And then under that, there's a lot of other things. It's I don't know. What do you think, Poms? I completely agree with that. I mean, you can't always get what you want, but sometimes you get what you need in the words of the great Mick Jagger. You know, I just don't, I would love for super progressive, everybody without, if you don't have corporate money automatically went. I'm all in on all that. But I would much rather have a corporate dim than a fascist and somebody who's just going to continue to allow Trump to ruin our country and take us down to the, you know, it's a race to the bottom right now.

19:56And, you know, my, I guess my concern is, I mean, I would always vote for a corporate dim over a Republican, But my concern is, will these corporate Dems have enough fight in them to take back our government? I mean, will they have enough fight? And I hope that they do. And I think some will. I mean, it's not everybody's the same on this. But I just, that's the only thing that worries me. But I'm with you. You have to just do it. You know, it stinks. You got to do it anyway.

20:30Angie Sullivan:And sadly, I think we know the answer to your question, which is a really valid one. They've proven to us that oftentimes they don't have the fight in them, which is why the Democratic approval rating is so low. But nonetheless, this is our fun podcast. So let's quit talking about that. And if you want to hear political podcasts, IHIP News, it's all on the same YouTube channel, but two different podcast feeds if you listen to, unlike Apple, Spotify, etc. They're charted out differently there. But let's go ahead and head into hearing from our listeners via voice memos. Kylie, who's first? Okay.

21:06Angie Sullivan:First, we've got someone very like-minded with you today. His name is Rory. Hi, Jennifer. Hi, Pumps. Hi, Kylie, the magic lesbian. It's Rory here, Canadian gay triad, originally from England, as you can probably tell by the accent. I know you've done a lot on airports. You may have done – I'm not sure if you've done this one specifically. but what I've had it with is seat allocation on aeroplanes. So we were coming back from Rome a few months ago, myself with my soon-to-be husband, and we sat and out allocated seats. We booked a seat, a window, an aisle with the hope that the middle one was free, but if it's taken, then fine.

21:45Planes about to leave, and then at the last minute, some standby people get on. Now, just sit in your seat, but especially if you're standby, sit in your seat. But no, this couple come on and the husband is trying to get the people next to him to move so he can sit next to his wife. That doesn't work. So then he says to me, and I said, well, my husband is like two seats away, but I don't need to sit next to him, but I want to stay on the same row. And then he tries to go in for a second line of argument. And I just look at him. I look down at my phone and let the awkward silence land. So then he finally gets the message and just sits in his allocated seat and his wife sits next to me.

22:21The whole flight, every 15 minutes, he's moving the seat in front of me. and looking back at his wife like she's about to disappear. And then, I'm not making this up, halfway through the flight, he puts his hand and arm through the seats so he can hold her hand during the flight. Really? They can't spend seven hours not sitting next to each other? I've had it with that.

22:47Totally agree. What the fuck is wrong with these people that they have to be? it's so first of all why would you i would be grateful if i got on standby you know what i mean it's like okay we got to see whoo we're going the the i the couples that have to touch all the time have to sit next to each other they have to put their hand through something's fucked up in that marriage one million percent there is something going on behind closed doors that they're both super insecure about it sounds like him more than her and that's my question because that's fucking weird as shit. What's going on behind closed doors that we have to touch each other all the time?

23:25Angie Sullivan:I don't know. Um, I do believe that, uh, airports bring out the worst in people. I also believe that some couples are just naturally a little more affectionate than others. and we have to allow for that space for loving couples. I think you and I have had such bad relationships. My lived experience. We get really triggered by that. And so I don't mind the affection, but the wanting to trade seats at the last minute is such an inconvenience to everybody on the flight. Yeah. And like you want to go from a minute, like he's going to give up his window so we can go sit in the middle? Who would do that?

24:12Nobody.

24:14Angie Sullivan:All right, Kylie, who's next? Okay, up next we've got Jen R. Hey, I have friends. My name is Jen. I'm a blue dot in a red state. And I was just calling because I think it's hysterical that Pete Hegseth wants to give testosterone to the military because this is just idiocracy. at its finest. Like, this is Darwinism, and it makes me laugh, because MAGA is all about, you know, creating families and blah, blah, blah, but guess what? Adding extra testosterone tanks the sperm counts, so, yeah, they're just going to take themselves out of the gene pool anyway when they overdo the testosterone. So let them have it.

Read the full transcript

25:09Angie Sullivan:Do it. Get them out of the gene pool. Be great. Could we get that lucky? Yeah. My favorite part about that is the party that opposes gender affirming care does more gender affirming care than progressives do. Like this whole giving people hormones is supposed to be the very thing that they're against. and then like they've all been browbeating AOC because she's videoing her like freezing her eggs and this is supposed to be the party of breeding and their argument against this well she's going to breed later and then she won't know her her grandkids that's so selfish of her and I'm like Trump was 95 when he had Barron all right so this just doesn't work and let's also talk about Caroline Levitt, the racist, insane former press secretary.

26:05Angie Sullivan:Her husband is 60. Right. So if you want to make that argument, that's fine. Just make it universally. And that's the problem with MAGA. They only apply these critiques and these standards to progressives while in their own house, they're throwing rocks. Yeah, I completely agree. Totally agree. Pete Hexeth triggers me more than anyone in this administration. I find him to be absolutely vile in every single way. I mean, soup to nuts. I cannot find one redeeming quality about that man. He is dumber than a box of hot rocks. And it could very well be a personal thing. Like he fucks around on his wives.

26:46He's an addict, you know, all the things. And that was my lived experience, you know, back to the couple thing. So it could be a personal deal, but objectively, when you look at him, he is incompetent. He is arrogant. He's a religious fucking nut. He obviously based on his church attendance hates women and all the shit he's done with women. You know, he's on his third wife. He's got a gazillion kids that they homeschool. I mean, he's everything I hate in a person. But I have to ask you, the one thing that I did see when I was coming back from vacation was, did you see the Caroline Levitt get ready with me video with her?

27:28Yeah. And I'm just like, this is a fucking clown show. Like, it's so unbelievable to me that somebody who is in the inner circle of the president of the United States gets on, does a get ready with me with their big hot roller talking about how, you know, she's really so fun and so funny other than when she's lying for fascists, for fascists, covering up crime after crime, covering up for fucking pedophiles in the situation room. Like it is so, and I just thought, Can you imagine if Jen Psaki got on social media with her hair all rolled up and talked about how funny she was? It's just these are not serious people.

28:15I know we overuse it, but it's just really there's just no thought to, you know, I'm in a public position representing the president of the United States. And so my behavior has to be different. I can't do get ready with me and do all this crazy shit. But they do. They like it.

28:32Angie Sullivan:I support the get ready with me. I just, I differ with you on this. If she wants to do a get ready with me, if AOC wants to video her freezing her eggs, these are things that are annoying to Gen Xers like you and me, but this is the way people in younger generations are communicating. This is something that's a part on the right and the left. I just simply don't support the diabolical lying, manipulating, gaslighting, and all of the shit she does at her real job. What she does on social media, I genuinely could give two shits about. If she wants to do a get ready with me, if she wants to pair her up in rollers, I don't give a shit.

29:09Angie Sullivan:That doesn't, I have zero, zero, zero judgment about that. I judge 100 % what she does all day, every day at her job while wearing her Christian cross, saying that the Epstein case was a hoax, which means that you're devalidating all of these victims of child rape. While at the same time talking about the Lord, I oppose her performative prayer before she goes out and goes on a lying spree. And so I am never one like the pettiness of the politics of the get ready with me or people on the left like Abdul Al-Sayed dance to a Taylor Swift video. that's just the way, like, that's the way the communication is going now.

29:55Angie Sullivan:And honestly, I think it's kind of smart of her to do it, to try to get people to like her, to try to be more relatable. I think we always just need to laser focus on what she did at her job, which was be a propagandist for a war criminal, which is Donald Trump and then all of the other people. I mean, and he's pretty much a pedophile. I mean, an accused pedophile, credibly accused pedophile and credibly accused rapist. That's where my problems with her are. You're just a bigger person than me. I just, I hate her. I can't stand her, but I mean, you can be objective. I can't be objective sometimes.

30:33I just can't. Okay.

30:36Angie Sullivan:There's nothing worse on the planet when you come home and you have like a leak or your air conditioners broke or your heaters broken or you have your dishwasher's not working etc so i have a solution for you it's called home serve because home serve is like a subscription for your home and for as little as four dollars and 99 cents a month they have completely got your back regular homeowners insurance usually doesn't cover a lot of that day-to-day wear and tear like plumbing failures, HVAC breakdowns, and electrical issues. It's super simple, listener. You choose a plan for your needs and budget.

31:14Angie Sullivan:And when something on your plan goes wrong, you just simply call their 24-7 hotline to start the repair process. Nearly 4.5 million customers use this, and it has a 4.7 out of 5 rating on Trustpilot and an A-plus BBB rating. They're really the real deal i recently came home on one of these super super hot days my ac wasn't working i got on the horn with home serve had it repaired absolutely cannot recommend this service enough listener your next costly home repair is already coming so act now and get protected with a plan through home serve for 50 less your first year go to homeserve.com had it to find the plan that's right for you.

32:01Angie Sullivan:That's homeserve.com slash had it for 50 % less savings compared to renewal price void in Florida. Okay, next, we've got a repeat offender that we love, Olivia. Hi, Jennifer. Hi, Pumps. This is Olivia from the Raw Dogging in Florida episode. I would like to shift the focus here a little bit from the horrible American mom culture to the horrible old white men joke culture. So my fiance and I went to the hospital because he was scheduled for a surgery for his torn Achilles. uh he limps into the elevator obviously and uh an old white man follows us we're in an elevator for a second and he looks at him and says well if you didn't kick your wife your leg would have been fine.

33:05What kind of stupid, unfunny fucking joke that is. We were both honestly stunned. I didn't know what to say, and it was a short elevator ride, but let's, as a society, start calling these people out because these jokes are not funny. If it was at least funny, I would laugh, but this is just fucking stupid. I've had it.

33:35Angie Sullivan:It's so true. So true. And I have some bad news, Josh. And I think there's just a certain age that people cross over where they start doing this. Josh is kind of doing these little kind of white man dad jokes from time to time with complete strangers. Like, and then we leave and he goes was I doing the corny like dad joke thing and the kids and I are like yeah we are like here's an example we go into a clothing store and everybody knows Josh and I love to go shopping together and so we go into a clothing store and he'll say yeah let me try on that shirt let me try it on a medium if I can get that over these big muscles here

34:23Angie Sullivan:and then he looks back at me and he like winks and I'm just sitting there going get a bat and hit me make it in make it in knock me over just knock me out and then and then he knows he can see like oh mama's getting irritated so then he just goes he goes in and he goes in which here's the thing I probably like it because I end up just dying laughing I've ever told you the story. So we were in Paris and the boys were much younger. Like I would say like late elementary school age. Your son was with me. Luke was on this trip with me. We're in Paris and we're walking the streets and Josh has his camera and I'm trying to get the kids back to the hotel because we have like, there's something we have to do.

35:07Angie Sullivan:And you know me, I run a tight ship. I'm in sheriff mode. The sightseeing photograph portion of the day had ended. We need to get back, shower, and we have something else to do. And I'm laser focused on that because I have my two sons and your son and Josh. So I'm the leader. So I cannot find Josh. And the kids are like, where's dad? And Luke's like, where's Josh? And so I go back down this block and I see him and he's just, you know, like taking pictures of everything. And he has this big camera, like his big Nikon with the big lens. And finally I go, I go, Josh, we've been waiting on you. You need to hurry.

35:48Angie Sullivan:Like I've got to get these kids back bubble and be very dramatic. And this is what's so good about our relationship. Cause I'm like at a nine or 10, like that, this is a crisis that Josh is not coming back because in my mind, we have to be laser focused on getting back to the hotel right that second right it's completely ridiculous i'm being a total fucking whack job right and so he takes his camera and he starts walking towards me almost like jod claude van damme remember how he would walk like a robot and then josh suddenly takes his camera up and he crosses the street and he just takes pictures of me the entire time and i'm like you and if you look at the pictures i'm like and then all of a sudden i just bend over dying laughing because he's just It's like, like, take this, you know, like, look at you with your schedule.

36:37Angie Sullivan:I'm going to photograph that now. Like, what's the deal? We're on vacation, you know, pipe down lady. And so I agree with Olivia. The dad jokes are really stupid and so annoying. Like a prime one is like, if you wear distressed jeans, then yes, somebody will come next to you. You got some worn out jeans there. You think maybe you need to get some new britches? you know that's always one that they really don't understand you got you think you had those jeans for 500 years or something why they got all those holes in them but these men are i think in their own way trying to make the little moments a little bit better although it's so annoying yeah it's so annoying but here's the thing i i got accused by my kids from kind of doing the same thing with the doing dad jokes, not dad jokes, but just kind of like my tell us.

37:33Okay. So I was like, uh, so the person at the hotel, we go to the second hotel. This is after I've been banned from WhatsApp and she's like, show me the QR code. Like, here's how you get in touch with the hotel, get on WhatsApp. And so I'm like, instead of just saying, okay, you know, my daughter got it on her phone and we'll do it through her phone or whatever. I go into the whole think, well, I got banned from WhatsApp. I don't know why, you know, just over, oversharing. It seems like you're oversharing. He like whispers it. So then I try to overcompensate with something like, you know, I'm glad my kids aren't little kids anymore.

38:11I'm glad they're adults, you know, sometimes you just have to shut up, just stop digging, just shut up. And I'm like, so I kind of see myself a little bit falling into that category.

38:25Angie Sullivan:Yeah, I'm probably heading there too. And I will say, I've been your kids in that situation with you many, many, many times. where we have made an agreement that we are going to minimize wording to get through, especially when we were on tour. Like we are going to minimize wording to get through this day. We are going to minimize. We're going to take all the conversations with people, whether it's the hotel front desk, the airline flight attendant, the waiter. We're going to be as friendly as all get out, smile and gracious, but we're going to ratchet back unnecessary words because we have to talk so much on this tour.

39:07Angie Sullivan:And we, you and I mutually agree on it. Most of the time you brought this up. It's your idea. It's your idea. Let's not talk that much anymore. I'm tired of talking. And I'm like, I totally agree. Let's not talk anymore. And then much to my surprise, we're life story in it with a lot of people. Um, and so I've been exactly your three kids in that hotel lobby so many times. And I'll be like, I thought we decided we weren't going to talk very much today. I know. I know. You just can't help it. Here's what it's like. And I know it's happening and I can't stop. It's like, there's no like, it's such a bad.

39:46Angie Sullivan:And then the more you think I need to stop, the more you go, I've seen it. I see the hamster running. Like I need to stop. Oh shit. Just keep going. Keep going. Cause then you'll get over faster. And then you can start talking a little bit faster. And it's a total fucking mess. Let me tell you something. I've talked about this before, but I want to talk about it a little bit more. I've had it when you check into a hotel and they ask, what are you doing? Like, what's the purpose of your trip? Because I don't, I don't want to get into it. I, a lot of times if it's like podcast related travel, I don't want to go cause I've done it before.

40:22Angie Sullivan:So what do you know? Oh, I'm here for work. What kind of work do you do? Yeah. I'm a podcaster. What's your podcast about? I'm just like, Oh, fuck my life politics. Oh, well, what's the name of it? Yeah. And then it's just, it, it, it go. It there's so much. And now the new one is if I see that front desk person again later and listen, no disrespect. These front desk people are being friendly. They're doing the jobs. I'm the problem here. I am the asshole. I want to say that, but I still have this grievance. Then I see them. What are your dinner plans for tonight? This happened to me more recently in London.

41:02Angie Sullivan:What are your dinner plans for tonight? And I just, I was like, Oh, I can't remember the name, but we're going somewhere. Well, what is it? Is it a good restaurant? I remember having addicted my phone to dig out the reservation. I think I just am an asshole. I don't want to have unnecessary conversations. Idle chit chat. I just, I am, I really despise it. Josh fucking loves it and you love it. And I have to sit. Yeah. Y 'all love it. You love it. You're getting the fray all the time on that. And here's the deal. I think I'm the asshole. Why do I care? Why don't I just engage in this idle chit chat?

41:39Angie Sullivan:Why don't I just watch you do it? Why do I get irritated by it? Why not just go? So here's the thing. Let me tell you one more thing. I think I'm turning a corner on this. Okay. I went to my gym a couple of weeks ago and there's this lady that's in there all the time and she's probably 65 and she exercises and like, she does like dances in the middle of the gym, in the middle of the weight room. She does like, and she spins around and then she does, she does all of these moves. And first time I saw her, I was like, to my trainer, I was like, what do we have going on right here? She's like, oh, she does it.

42:21Angie Sullivan:She's here every day. So I watched it and I thought, well, what's her fucking deal? I had this real negative take on. And we worked out for the same hour. She didn't have a trainer. I did. And I watched her the whole time. And I watched her doing little different eight counts and doing all these moves and shaking her butt, shimmying, doing all of this stuff, you know, like grapevines, jazz hands, five, six, seven, eights, the whole nine. Right. By the end of it, I had thought good for her. Yeah. What do I care? This is wildly entertaining. She has zero fucks to give. This is the way she likes to work out.

42:57Angie Sullivan:It does look a bit ridiculous, but also like she looks completely liberated. Like she's totally enjoying herself and maybe it's not a conventional way to work out, but it's her way to work out. Right. And I love it. And so now when I see her, I just kind of like smile and I'm like, you were such twat to judge her initially. And some people really are worthy of judgment at a gym. I don't want to act all sanctimonious, but I do think I need to just embrace more the lighter conversations in life and not get so irritated by them. But I really get irritated by them. I really do. I'm trying to be better.

43:33Well, that's all you can do is try. Do you think it's interesting that she's going to the gym and she's just doing the dance? First of all, I'm impressed that she's still able to do all the dance moves because I'm so uncoordinated. I find it hard when I go to these classes to do it. So I'm kind of impressed by that. But I'm the same way. I will immediately judge something. And then I'm like, I actually do it. Why do I care? Exactly. Right. Like, my first thing is judgment and hatefulness in my head. And then by the end, and I sit and analyze it, and I'm like, I'm kind of into it. Yeah. And then also, like, why do I care?

44:07Angie Sullivan:Exactly. like why yeah this looks fucking bananas this is crazy but you know what i'm into it i like it get on her be who she is knock yourself out yeah i don't know if kamala harris was president it probably wouldn't bug you i don't know we'll never know i agree we will probably now at some point we're going to know at some point we're going to know. And, uh, I do think living in this earth and sharing spaces with people can be a minefield and there are legitimate grievances that maybe they are petty. Maybe you are overreacting, but in this space to a friend, you share it, you get it off your chest.

44:49Angie Sullivan:And there's a normalcy to that type of shit talking about sharing spaces with other people like public restrooms, like airplanes, you know, like elevators and escalators, the people who hog the entire step and you can't go around them. And they just, you know, they've got their, you know, come on, wake up people. And, but I do think that if we had a culture that was a little bit kinder from the top, kindness trickling down, maybe we wouldn't be such cunts all the time. I don't know. Probably still would be bet. It's worth a shot. All right. I think that's all we have. Hey, listen, pre-order my book.
