0:00Yes guys, welcome back to another guest episode. One of my favourite little sub-series that we do here. It's that game show, Stephen. It's called... Would I Lie to You? Would You Lie to Me? You idiot. I don't want to get sued. We're getting sued now. It's called Would You Lie to Me? And we bring back some of our favourite guests from years gone by on Happy Hour and we get them in the studio and play Would You Lie to Me? And this is our biggest ever gap between guests, I think. Yeah, the guest today was maybe in our first 20 ever. Yeah, I think 2019 we had this man on. It's Daniel Sloss, the Scottish comedian, the very funny, the very dry, the very honest Scottish comedian, Daniel Sloss.

0:42We don't only play the game though. Before we get into that, he tells us all about his new love for Ark Raiders. And his new love for his children. Mainly Ark Raiders. Not his new love. I think he's always had love for his children, but it's mainly Ark Raiders. It's Ark Raiders. and Would You Lie to Me with Daniel Sloss.

It was a lovely SUV, an inexplicably queenly offer. They're even coming to the castle to collect it.

2:33Tonight, we feast. An offer you can feast on. Sell your car today on Carvana. Pick up fees, may I buy. Hello, guys, and welcome back to Jackmates Happy Hour podcast. Now, we've got a full house here today. We've got Robbie Knox in a lovely jumper. Thank you, my mum. did your mom did that yeah i was gonna say because it does i i used to knit and it's yeah yeah me and my friend got into a very one night on a lot of cocaine we were like at new year we were like we should try and beat each other at something this year yeah but it's got to be something neither of us had done before so we got into knitting is it hard it's very hard yeah yeah yeah but like the goal was for like the end of the year to knit each other a christmas sweater and his was unbelievable Like he knitted an image into it, which he had to like work out the pattern using like Microsoft Excel and stuff.

3:21It was just a shitty cream one that looks a bit like the Grinch. Can you still do it now? I reckon nothing is, nothing is wonderful as what your mother has done. But like. Is your mum on cocaine? I think so, yeah. She normally is. Yeah, yeah. She does it really fast. She's fucking pegging them out. If I had to picture two guys sat in a room together doing cocaine, knitting is the last thing that would have come out of that. Well, so it was like literally the next day we had like a train to Manchester and like we'd watched a bunch of YouTube videos that I had before trying to fucking get it. We bought our wool and we're doing it on a train and we sit down and this like fucking big old Manchester pensioner looks over at us.

3:57She was like, never in my fucking life did I think I would see two hungover like people in their trains. Nick, what are you doing? So like we told her exactly what happened and she found the funniest thing in the world and she sat with us on that entire train journey just fucking teaching us how to... Because the YouTube videos were too fast for dumb men, right? Netting tutorials on YouTube. They're like, you do this, you do this. I'm like, I need you to do it. Like, this goes here, and then this goes here. Because I'm a dumb man. You need to explain it to me incrementally. And we couldn't do it.

4:28And then we're just this fucking angel in disguise. Sat with us for four. She was buzzing, man. I don't think she ever expected us to teach knitting. She found our calling. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We were just drinking tinnies and wine. She was like, this is great. It's Daniel Sluss, by the way. Dan, we just want to say, mate, thanks for coming back on. You were one of our first ever guests we ever had on the show. Yeah, that was a long time ago. 27th of May, 2019, so almost seven years ago. We'd only been going six months at the time. Yeah, Dan was episode number 35. And this one is likely to be around 650.

5:03Fucking hell. That's too many episodes. It fills it. Yeah, we run out of stuff to say a long time ago. That's why we just keep copying other formats. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Today we are doing... I'm recycling your guests. Has anything new happened? Well, you say that. Your life's pretty fucking different now, isn't it? Yes, yeah, yeah. You've been married. You got married. Been married, made it sound like... Still married, yes. Love of my life. And two children. Yes, boy and a girl. Wow, congrats. Is that the thing people say, congrats? I'm very... What? No, because I'm still very much like... What do you think?

5:37Oh, sorry, mate. My life is not... I'm still fucking hungover. so like what do you i'm trying to be i'm still hung over you'll be you'll be hung over as a dad um yeah man it's the best but like i was it i feel like it's different but i wanted to be a dad forever yeah yeah yeah yeah so it's everything i dreamed of and more like i i found the sacrifices a lot easier to make because i was because i've been thinking about them for 10 years i meet some parents the way they talk about their fucking kids it's like did you not do any research on what children want oh we literally we did an episode with a youtuber one of our mates called Danny Aaron's recently and he said that having a kid was like originally like the worst thing that ever happened to him.

6:13And there's just dumb people being like, well, I'm not getting any sleep. And you're like, yeah, famously. Yeah. Like you, you, you, you didn't read our book. Like you didn't speak to any other, you didn't speak to your parents, what you were like as a fucking baby. Like me and my wife went in with like, like being like, this is going to be a slog. This is going to be hard. This is going to be challenging. And then it was a fucking breeze and we loved it. Was it really? We had good babies. We had really good babies. they slept pretty fucking good straight also my wife chose to uh chose to and succeeded with breastfeeding right and that's a fucking what a dream that is because if they don't right which for there's a number of reasons why you wouldn't breastfeed obviously as a dad you're trying to get to 50 50 your job is like baby's crying in the middle of the night you wake up you go down you heat the milk up you start together none of that because i'm in bed baby wakes up crying this is right there this is right fucking there i can't i can't help i'd love to help you know i'll feed it into the mouth but no my wife was just able to just take the baby on so and then you know baby just fucking falls asleep put it back in the crib we they were tough nights of course yeah we you know yeah we loved it how old are your kids now uh boys four a girl is 18 months 18 months okay so that that's the hard part over now yeah like the worst bit is obviously the worst bit for the women is obviously the pregnancy and childbirth childbirth does not look fun it's a real fucking design flaw that's what you realize when you're in the room you're like fucking this this is proof that there is no god because like if there's there is a god that's not i don't know like how upset you were that eve ate a fucking apple but like your revenge your your sick twisted revenge for this one woman 3000 years ago is to make sure make all women push a human being out the smallest hole of their fucking body you insane you can't you sadistic um uh so that sucks childbirth sucks obviously and then like women have a sort of my wife my wife doesn't remember the trauma of childbirth because they have a chemical in their brain that like once they give birth, their brain was like, if women remembered childbirth fully, none of them would give birth again.

8:12I have thought that before. I've seen that really shitty argument that idiots use online where it's like, what's more painful, childbirth or getting kicked in the balls? And everyone goes, well, no one chooses to get kicked in the balls again. But what were you saying about the chemical? There's a chemical dumping. And sometimes women don't get this chemical dumping. They get a chemical dumping in the rain that basically erases and sort of reduces the trauma of the last however many hours. And when women don't get that, which is common, that's what PTSD is. That's like postpartum depression. That's where that comes from.

8:40It's like they're just remembering all. And obviously, like my wife, both times, I see her screaming, going through this pain, getting through it. I'm there. You know, as a man, as a father, during childbirth, you're the most impotent person in the world. There's nothing. You're the most useless person in the fucking room. Yeah, what do you do? Because your wife is there doing an unfathomable feat of strength. Yeah. and I encourage. And then there's these midwives who know everything that's going on and they're talking her through shit. And you're just there like this big dumb cunt. I'm proud of you.

9:14You're the best. And she's like, shut the fuck up. I'm like, I thought I should shut up. I feel like I felt like talking would be the wrong thing to do. And then they say, do you want to cut the cord? You're like, I'll give you that. No, no, Josh, you're the fucking doctor. What are you talking about? No, you do all of it. I don't want to do any of you. Do you want to come down and see? No. I want to stay up here with the love of my life and be like, this is terrifying that you're doing this. And then the baby comes out and yeah, she just completely, she was sitting there, she was like, that was so easy.

9:41And I'm like, I was with you. None of that was fucking easy. That was all, you hated all of that. He's like, no, don't be silly. It's like this instant fucking thing. And then it's like, obviously you're never allowed to complain about it as the dad because obviously women do all of it. But like, when I talk to other dads, it's we remember the war. Like you speak to other, like when mothers will rightfully be like, oh, fuck it. He's still traumatized from the birth. You're like, yeah, fuck. I don't have that chemical dump. I remember. You have this self-preservation thing in your brain that makes you forget.

10:14Whereas I just remember every second of them. It's terrifying. My wife lost a liter and a half of blood in seven minutes during childbirth. They take my son out. They cut the cord. They hand it to me. And they're like, hey, this isn't nothing to worry about. We just have to take her through to the other room immediately. And I'm like, aye. Fuck off out of this room. and just for 90 minutes, I'm just sat in a room with my son. Just feeling like, fucking. Wow. Is this, am I a widow? Is that what's happening? They come in and they give you toast. They're like, is everything okay? And I'm like, you tell me.

10:47Where's my wife? What's going on? Fucking hell. Was that your first kid? Yeah, yeah. And then my wife comes back in, drugged up to the fucking eyeball. She's like, where's that baby? This is a great day. This is an awful day. How did you feel going into the second one then? Remembering all of that? So like my wife rightfully making fun of me and laughing at me the whole time because like I was so much more, I was so much more nervous because like, you know, again, I know there's nothing I can do. The most, the best thing I can do is to be a present husband, right? Is to just, and to like feed off of her vibes.

11:19There'll be times when she wants me beside her, encouraging her, saying stuff. And then I got realized that when she tells me to fuck off, that just means fuck off. Like you can't take it personally. with the second one there was four hours where i was playing red dead redemption 2 on my steam deck and she was watching the olympics and because there was just like a really boring four hours and obviously before people get angry i was like can i play my game she was like yeah nothing's happening right and then um and then they well she got the she got the fucking epidural which sucks to get like it's mental that like is that the needle in the spot yeah so it's a painkiller and in order to get the painkiller they do it in the most painful way like it'd be like hey before we give you a vasectomy we're gonna numb the area but the way we're gonna numb the area is we're just gonna fucking punch it until it doesn't feel anymore and like that's the that's the medicine like oh we know childbirth sucks we know it's the worst pain in the world so what we've done is we've invented the second most painful thing in the fucking world do you want that ladies um it's a real fucked system um and then like with my second kid they woke us up for like for my daughter's birth like it got to like two in the morning my wife's contractions were miles apart and she looked at me she was like just close your eyes if you can get any sleep just get who knows how long this whole thing and then my wife fell asleep but apparently three hours later the midwife came in at the tap my wife was like cara the head is there and my wife was like oh should probably wake him up then.

12:46So I like wake up, they're like the heads there and I'm like, oh, okay. So we got like another fucking two hours. I'll probably like sneak a coffee at some point. Nine minutes later, I was holding my daughter. Fuck. Wow. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And same thing again, my fucking wife who's just gone through this war, this battle with her fucking body, just this chemical dump in her brain. She's like, I think I was easier than last time. I'm like, well, you lost less blood, but we were like, we've been in here for 16 hours. Like they had to numb the entire bottom half of your fucking body wow she said with the with the epidural she was like genuinely could not feel i think like it was literally like she knew when she was pushing yeah when she was contracting the muscles but in terms of like the page she was like that fucking thing fucking fell out and i was down there i can show you did not fall out that was a lot of fucking pushing wow wow you you delivered to your kitty, didn't you?

13:40Not intentionally. It just came really quickly. Fuck, what about? Well, we just got new carpet, so we put my wife in the upstairs bathroom. Yeah, of course. So we didn't make a mess. But we'd been given a couple of different car seats by friends in our first one. So, and I put them in the shed. We better go to the hospital because it seems to be going along quite quickly because they tell you not to go at first, don't they? You've got to wait for certain minutes. So I was in the shed going, oh, I wonder which one of these to get. that one's a bit cleaner but that one's got better safety features and then I'll go for this one I went back in my wife's going Robbie Robbie and running up the stage the baby's here there's a head sticking out died 999 and before the guy answered the phone this baby just popped out and called to it just delivered a baby but then for my wife she's got the problem is that everyone's going to me going oh it's amazing you delivered a baby like she had the baby I will be taking the blood yeah she gave birth to her own fucking hell that's wild did you have to so when you were holding Kitty did you have to cut the no they said three times on the phone do not cut the umbilical cord I don't know what bloke in the past has just got his Stanley knife out I know what you're going to say next he's fucking did it with his teeth just barely get the dog in did you now Dan we always start with the same question when you first came on we didn't have this question I think we spoke about meal deals or something you don't remember you think you did that was all you said about the first we want you to imagine a place called the Happy Hour Hall of Fame you could submit any item into that place something that means something to you can be a place a person a feeling a thing what would you like to put in i'll just put in something i'm hyped about right now go on just uh just in the moment obviously i hope i don't have to caveat this with my aunts would obviously be my wife and my children but uh when my wife and children go to sleep um i'm never more excited for that moment because it means i can finally log back onto arc raiders and go top site um arc raiders is this computer game has come out i've not been this addicted to a game since i was i don't know like 15 16 years old with like halo 2 or odst like i love my wife spending time with her and getting to know her is some of the most fulfilling moments i have as a husband the second of her head i'm like here we go do you know are you familiar with this i've not played it i've seen it though how many hours are you putting into it and this is as a father this is as like a full-time Present father.

16:02Present father, loves his kids, makes his sacrifices. In the space of two months I've sunk, I would say, no less than 48 hours. And that's me going from, I'm never doing it during the day. Of course I'm not doing it during the day. I'm doing it from any time from fucking 8pm to like two in the morning. And like really making deals with myself about like how much better of a father I need to be the next day. I'll be there like half past one being like, we'll go topside one more time. you'll get into bed call it quarter to two we'll brush our teeth in the morning it's fine let's and then the kids are going to wake up at half six and I'm going to have like a fucking caffeine drink beside the bed so that there's no me waking up grumpy or whatever because I can't I can't let these bad decisions are made like I could go to bed at 10pm what is the game what's the premise then the premise of the game right is it's 30 minute fucking rounds you either choose to go in with gear that you already have you go to the surface of a fucking planet there's a bunch of big robots called the ark there you're trying to kill them for the bits you're trying to loot buildings any gear that you get while you're topside you have to extract with that gear you have to get to a hatch and get out and if you get killed in the round any of your gear on you is completely lost right so sometimes you'll come in with like lots of guards you're going with your best stuff and you'll get fucked up and you'll be like i just lost fucking everything and then sometimes you'll go in with nothing and you'll loot so much stuff from either robots or other players and you'll leave massively in profit but it's like this big social experiment because it's all close comms and it's all like trust so it's like you'll be in a game and you'll see someone over there and you're like hey man are you friendly they'll be like yeah i'm friendly and you'll both have your guys and you're like well fucking i don't know how friendly are you like and like you can have anywhere from people who specifically go around the game resurrecting players bringing like helping them get out safely Why are they doing that?

17:53Just because they're good people. Okay. Just because this is a social experiment. And also we are all everything. I have had games where I will go in and like be very, I'll see somebody, some newbie taking down a big bit of arc. I'll help. I'll not want any of the little more. You guys have that. That's fine. And then there's other days when I'll be a extract with someone and there'll be a tingling in the back of my head. Like the voice of Gollum being like, he's got good look. He's got good look. Like fucking, I'd want to, Like it really like, it shows you who your true guy is. I've done some really fucked up things in this game.

18:25Really fucked up things. Like I once got to Extract and there was like a fucking guy there that had been taken down by Ark. But he was fine. He was just waiting for the train to come. He was going to crawl out and be safe. I run down. I kill the Ark that kills him. I'm like, hey man, I got your back. I'll cover you. Some other guy comes down the stairs, starts trying to fucking shoot him. I shoot that guy, finish him off. The guy behind me is just spamming like, thank you, thank you. I'm like, no worries, buddy, no worries, buddy. I get on the train. I'm like, come on, but I'll get us out here.

18:52And he doesn't crawl in. I'm like, hey, man, I've had your back. Come on, you're in. And he just fucking hesitates. And that hesitation, I was like, he's got something unbelievable on him. The fact that he's not immediately come to me with trust means that he thinks I'm a rat. And I fucking beat him to death with a hammer. Oh, my word. Did he have something good? So much stuff. So much stuff. Yeah, man, he had so many blueprints on him. and like a bunch of stuff I needed. And the whole time I was like, buddy, I'm not sorry for this. I've said some really, like if my wife heard the things I've said to people who've done the same to me, like the amount of times I've been ratted, right?

19:30Where like somebody, it's part of the fucking game. I extract with someone right at the end, they fucking shoot me in the back. I'm like, fuck, I mean, I was going to do that. So fair enough, you can't get too angry. I've said, and I regret this deeply and I understand how inappropriate this is. I caught myself saying this and the screen went blank because I just died and I saw my own reflection after I said these words. But in speaking to this guy for 20 minutes, I helped him take down a fucking bastion. I let him leave with all the fucking bastion cells. We extracted her together. He shoots me in the back of the head.

19:57And I said, hey, father to father, I hope your kid dies. Oh my. And then the screen went black and I saw my reflection. And I was like, I should probably not play this game for a couple of days. I'm trying to bend down. I think I'll just report myself. i've seen see i've seen clips of this yeah it seems to be everywhere and i just i don't know how you get how do you play how do you get it well you have to start playing it yeah you play fortnight it's on playstations xboxes yeah he's sold it well hasn't he yeah download it give yourself fucking three and also like you'll end up in friendly lobbies at the start right most people in this game are fucking good and it's like if you're friendly most of the time yeah it'll put you into fucking friendlier lobbies.

20:43But there's only one way to get into PvP lobbies, and that's to start fucking killing guys. Yeah. Does your voice get recognised? Have you ever had it when you're speaking? No. How famous do you think I am? You've got a fairly known voice. That's what I worry about. Take us the tour. Morgan Freeman over it. Yeah, no. No fucking voice. yeah I mean no I've never been recognised in an online game I just worry about it on Rocket League people because my name is just my name yeah you were spotting me with my name Stevie Little White it's just my name on there but last night someone wrote Jackmate to me on Rocket League when I was playing they just type in the chat and Rocket League's known to be really toxic and then he was just being really mean to me afterwards kept telling me I was rubbish that's really mean That's why I'm not willing to do any of this.

21:42Like everyone who plays this game, there's this understanding which is like, look, when you hurt my emotions, it's gonna be five seconds. Where like I'm not expecting a betrayal. And I get a betrayal, of course I'm gonna say horrific things during that time. And there's just like this real standard understanding amongst gamers where it's like, look, you know, don't, you know, don't hold what I say against me in my worst moments against me for life. It's like you're venting, you're letting it out. It does sound really good. It's the best game in the world. Move on from Fortnite. Yeah. No, I can never move on from Fortnite.

22:12I'm 33 now and I'm still bashing out. Do you play Fortnite? I used to back in the day. I loved Fortnite for a fucking bit, but this scratches an itch. Does it? The way that Fortnite never fucking did. What is the actual premise then? Do you level up? Yeah, you level up, you build up your benches. So obviously you're going in, if you want to go in with better gear, instead of starting with the shittiest weapons, you can build guns on the outside to take in. and in order to build better guns you need to have better benches and in order to get better benches you got to kill certain robots in there to get their parts so sometimes you're with your friends you're like we're going to go in with like big fucking i'm going to spend like a hundred thousand i'm going to pimp out my phone i'm going to and then you get fucked up instantly and they're gone forever then are they gone forever and it's it's gambling it's like this the man the feeling of the feeling of extracting with like heaps of stuff like when you're with two of your boys you're playing fucking trios and like you've ratted another you stabbed a group in the back you took all of their fucking gear you took down something big you've got a bunch of blueprints you've got a bunch of stuff that you fucking and you get to extract and you get out fucking man it's like leaving the casino a millionaire it's the fucking best what's it like on the other end of it though when you're leaving and you've lost everything oh and yeah man i've look i've said if you think what i say to strangers online is horrific it doesn't compare what i tell my friends who've let me down mid-game.

23:33One of my friends, he isn't even overweight, but we just make fun of him for being overweight. He's not at all. It's just, you know, we just want to be toxic to him. I told him that I was going to slit his throat and drink the chocolate milkshake out of his esophagus because he caused us to lose a game. 25:14It's a never-before-seen concept, bulletproof. So you're going to be playing against Stevie, ultimately. you're going to have nine statements nine prompts some of them will be true some of them will be lie and you have to convince Stevie of the opposite way if that makes sense now how many times have you been beaten Stevie? so I've got the so far you've played example Max Fosh Alex Zane Andy Goldstein Danny Aarons and Matt Richardson now six episodes how many times have you been beaten? we need to double check this really but we're pretty sure it's only Matt Richardson so far so the only comedian on the list yeah yeah yeah so that might mean today how good are you a good liar?

25:50I don't think so. I think for a while I thought I was better than I was, but my wife tells me that I have such resting bitch face. And she's like, if you hate someone, you don't even have to tell me. I'm no one from the way you look at them. So maybe I'm not as good at lying as I thought I was. But this could all be part of it. And Robbie is like, how do we say it? Countdown, you've got Susie Dent in the corner. And she adds a little bit of flair. I don't think I'm going to be like, I'm not about that. you've got the nitted job you're here to ultimately help Stevie but Stevie has the ultimate decision we were calling you little bitch or pussy bitch pussy bitch I'm his pussy bitch so sometimes I'll refer to pussy bitch if I need help cross interrogation are we ready to go then yeah I am worried now as I'm going to be asking Daniel questions that I might just be thinking he hates me I just said yes straight away so that's good you'll never know Right, so the first one is, if you can just read that please.

26:51Oh yeah, I helped set up the Floyd Mayweather Conor McGregor fight. Wow, wow. It's a strong start. Okay, yeah, where do we begin with that? How has this come across your desk? It's more like what part of the dominoes I set off. Okay. I was a big Conor McGregor fan back before all of the rapes. it's the right time to support him yeah yeah yeah look i before back when he was just a fucking like you know uh 20 year old who was knocking cunts out left right yeah talking a lot of shit i really liked that part of his career and then he became who he is now and i've not been a fan of him since then uh because i think he's a despicable human being um back in the hype fucking days i would watch all of his ufc fights um whenever i was over doing uh the conan ebrian show in america the booker of that show is one of my good friends and i would take him to ufc fights just to watch in bars and stuff all the time yeah and i would talk about how excited i was by the prospect of conan mcgregor just knocking everyone out left right and center and then i think it was before the chad mendez fight the booker from conan was like the UFC have asked if Conor McGregor will be on the Conan show do you think he would be good on the Conan show and I was like a hundred percent he's funny as fucking interviews you tell him not to swear he'll be fine you know he's manning for the camera and I was like okay a week later I wake up from my house I've got a phone call from uh I've got a voicemail from my friend who books Conan I answer it it's a voicemail from Conor McGregor thanking me for getting him on the Conan show and saying he's heard you know heard of my stuff he's heard of my big fan he hopes to meet one day that episode uh of coding is where he made fun of floyd mayweather for the first time started calling out talking shit floyd mayweather later said in an interview that was when he when he heard mcgregor saying all that shit about him that's when he mentally agreed to the fucking fight okay okay can i just say like i know if this is a truth or a lie and if this is a lie that is the best yeah that's incredible i mean that's i yeah just so much although he's now got in my head a bit you can't you can't pay attention to jack i'm the little minx here i was straight away well that's got to be true because that's the most convincing story i've ever heard yeah because the first sentence obviously isn't exactly that but you have created the beast essentially there then sometimes sometimes the lies are within other truths yeah but that's a little bit shittier yeah you can't it can't be too much there like it's just see my what was he doing when when was the mcgregor mayweather fight 18 no no no it was pre i hadn't done fucking netflix at this point fuck it might have been 2016 wow it was that long ago yeah okay so yeah that was pre it was a long current mcgregor fuck see normally i'd be able to ask more questions You're just giving me so much information there.

29:52It's just, if that's a lie, then I'm never going to trust another word you say. Bear in mind, there's also some important context to this either truth or lie. Back in my 20s, I was doing fucking heaps of cocaine, so I've learned to make up lies. You don't have any idea how many asses I've got. Would I just talk shit up? I believe you, because you ended up knitting jumpers. Have you got anything to add to that? I don't know if we can. I just think it's a very, very convincing story. It seems quite believable. It's not so much that he's gone, oh, I've tried out my hand at promoting. It's believable.

30:31You've put McGregor in a situation which caused him to talk shit, which led on to a massive fight. I think the only option is either that it's a lie within a truth or it's just completely true. I will say now, none of these are half truths. That is probably true. Yeah, true. We'll say true. Dan, is it true? Did you help set up the Conor McGregor fight? Well, I claim that I did. I think if I was to approach either McGregor or Mayweather with lawyers and be like, I believe you, I'm entitled to a cut. I think they would successfully sue me. That's a great story. And then also probably beat me up, rightfully.

31:07So Conor sent you a voice note, did he? He sent me a voice note, which obviously now, you know, I don't have to fucking delete that. There's no flex anymore, is there? Yeah, no, it sucks when your fucking humor is trying to be shit people. It's great, though. Right, okay, next one. See, yeah, because I thought the way you reeled that off was so good. I thought you might think it was a lie. Well, the only issue you've now given yourself is you've reeled off a truth so easily and well that if you now get a lie that you're stumbling over, but now he could double-blah and stumble over the next truth.

31:39And I also thought maybe comedians are better at the lies because they can take like a small thing that's happened to them and flesh it out for a bit in the story. But we'll see. This is the next one. Okay. I've performed on the pyramid stage at Glassbury with the band Biffy Clarnall. Okay, what year was this? Still back in my drug-taking year, so Jesus, anywhere between 2013 and 2017. Okay, and when we say performed? I mean, I was on stage with them. And like, I mean, you know, miming. At no point did they hand me the microphone to sing along with the songs. And also, like, I think when I walked out and there was such a little reaction, I think they were more happy to have me in the background.

32:20And we've laughed about that since because one of them is a big fan and was like, do you want to come on there? You know, because I was at Glassman performing, so they got comedy, that's there. Had you met Biffy Clara before that day? No, I'd only been, well, I'd been speaking to them on Twitter back in the day and X and stuff, because I think they'd seen me, I don't know, on some fucking Scottish thing. background they're Scottish yes yeah they are okay there's a link so that's good so would Jack have come up with that link I don't know do you see I think that would be I don't believe you I reckon I'm not playing the game mate yeah but you are in a way you are in a way we shouldn't say that though we've also got the album where the album cover is the jigsaw piece on the side of their thing and one of my most successful specials is jigsaw so you're saying you also helped them on that album well even though that album came out when I was 14 years old and I hadn't done stand-ups.

33:15I think my talent just is generational and I think they sort of got vibes from that. Okay so how did it come about that he's asked you to come up on stage? I messaged him being like Ewing Glassbury he went you were in the pyramid stage and I was like well I'm obviously doing a smaller stage and he was like do you want to change that and then it was just sort of like you know he was bluffing me out until i was like i'll come on i'll not sing because i you know i can't fucking sing um and i'll obviously not do any jokes because i can't imagine but he was like if we've got lots of scottish fans there surely if we like have other scottish people come out and we celebrate in this moment this will be exciting and when we go there there was nobody cared there was cheering but they were already cheering uh it's still on iplayer oh Oh, ooh.

34:04That's a good line. That's a good line if it's a lie. I cannot tell you how often whenever I post anything online, people have like clipped the fucking footage of like me walking out and there being almost no reaction. Oh, does it look really awkward on camera? Yes, of course. Of course it fucking does. They're not making up the audience. They're making up Davey fucking viral. I've got to ask you questions to get your reaction. That's all I'm going for. What are you thinking, Robbie? See, at first I was thinking, this is Jack just thinking of the only Scottish musicians you can think of yeah and put them together I've gone for Lewis Capaldi because I do know Lewis Capaldi I should have said that so yeah but so you don't know yeah so have you just given away we don't we all know them we all know each other how big do you think Scotland is there's like nine celebrities from there no but you've just said you should have gone for Lewis Capaldi which makes me think you're saying Jack when you wrote that sentence you should have Well, in the sense that for Lewis Capaldi's last, like not his big tour, for his last, after the documentary came out, when he was getting back into life before, he did a bunch of smaller dates around Bristol and Glasgow and Edinburgh, and I was the Q &A person for that.

35:12True. Okay, this one, I was thinking lie, and Jack's just said a Scottish band. It's just the iPlayer sentence has thrown me. That was good, but that's a little bit. That's a little gem. You're sticking on lie, are you? I'm sticking with lie. I've not been persuaded by his. I don't know if he was persuaded. I'm being swayed by the gem. By the what? By the little lie player. The iPlayer was good. And then everyone sends me the video. Could just be fluff though, couldn't it? Well, yeah, that's the whole point of lying, isn't it, mate? That's the whole episode. It's fluff that comes up in fucking therapy, Lord.

35:51Oh, now I feel bad if I say it's a lie. You say it's a lie. Stevie, what are you going for? I'm going to say it's a lie. Dan, have you performed on a pyramid stage at Glastonbury with the band Biffy Clyro? No, if you'd asked me any of their names, I would have been out. I don't know. Fucking. Yes. Did you know that I was Scottish? Yeah. Yeah, I did. Okay. He's a little weasel. I know, I'm trying not to get anything from Jack, but I feel like this is up to Daniel. Yeah. He's played his head too early now. We know he's untrustworthy. Right, I'm going to. I'm going to highlight. I was so close to saying true, the iPlayer.

36:26The highlighted one, Dan. Okay. I was once on Robo Wars. As a contestant? Not as a robot. I covered myself in tinfoil and I had an AK-47. And the BBC did not pass it. Were you asked to come on or were you a kid? I was a kid. My dad and his friends. made a robot and went on the show. You were actually, were you in the bit with them? Depends what season. Oh, were they on it multiple times? Yes. Oh, what was the robot called? Which one? Give me a second. We had one called All Torque. Instead of All Torque. Because my dad's theory you're only allowed 100 kilos on a robot. Okay. Right? And a lot of people put like 20, 30, sometimes 40 into the weapon.

37:27And my dad and his friends were like, if we just put all the fucking weight into the engines and the wheels and just make the... It doesn't matter what flamethrower you've got or axe you've got. If I hit you at 45 miles an hour, you're done. Yeah. It doesn't matter how big... Like, that's it, over. So that's what they did. They just made this big fucking robot with massive engines on it and made them really grippy wheels and just fucking smashed them through cunts. Did that have a good success rate? it had a very good success rate until we got to like in the original seasons of robot wars yeah um you had to do the what's the word the gauntlet when you had to like race through to the end yeah and then there's like a mini one where you had to like push one of the house robots off a sumo thing destroyed at that destroyed one of the house robots matilda good um and then we got knocked out in the uh uh the final for five because we don't have any weapons at that point we got flipped over um we also represented scotland in the international uh world wars and we got fucking mauled by you remember razor yeah yeah razor fucked that was up and that was all with all talk yes that was all with walt work who's the other one next one was called uh bought out of hell good good names for both and it was designed to look like a motorbike my dad and his friends were like well we put it all into the engine last time why don't we put it all into the weapon this time okay so they'd do you remember hypno disc yes yeah so they liked that idea so they were like but instead of just having like a fucking steel blade what we'll do is we'll get the diamond encrusted blades that they use on oil wrecks to cut through miles and miles of rock we'll stick that on the front of a robot we'll have it spinning vertically so that anything that hits it just gets fucking set up and we'll make it like 20 times more powerful than a hypnodesk and um that got knocked out straight away because turns out that that's illegal you're just not allowed to you're just not allowed to make that so why first of all you know they don't sell those My dad stole that from a friend that works on the record.

39:37You can't just have access to these plates. And then also, you know, the health and safety people saw us revving up backstage, and it was loud. It was super loud. And, you know, the BBC was like, hey, if this is designed to go through rock, it's going to go through four inches of bulletproof glass if it comes off. Oh, right. Yeah. Yeah. That makes complete sense. That's... I'm leaning towards true straight away, because if not, you've come up with all talk and bought out of hell so easily. He's a comedian. Puns. Yeah. He's also a very good comedian. So he can make stuff up. I know, but that's just...

40:12Where you at, pussy bitch, over there? If you like the opinion of pussy bitch, you'll happily give it only vast, because he's a pussy bitch. I was totally convinced with all talk. Yeah. Right, right. I'm a little bit more suspicious of the second robot. Bot out of hell. Bot out of hell, yeah. I think a diamond drill thing would be noticed if it got missing from an oil rig. He didn't say it wasn't. Was it? I mean, my dad's still around. Until this goes out. But, yeah, it's... I'm a little bit more suspicious than I was at the beginning. At first, I was thinking, this has got to be true, it's an exceptional knowledge of robot wars, if it is a lie.

40:52I mean, it was the greatest. Yeah, but it is a great show. I remember my children, hypnosis. Sir Killalock was the boy, wasn't he? Sir Killalock, yeah. Absolutely beast. Sergeant Bash. I used to Can you remember the old game That you can make your own robot And play on On the Playstation It was the fucking best Mate it was so good You could literally design Your own robots And then play Robot Wars Against Sir Killalot And everything Yeah yeah yeah I don't miss that Decide whether you got A blade or a flipper Yeah Fucking god it was so good So good Yeah yeah yeah And you could do like Little courses and stuff For fuck's sake I missed that Extreme destruction Get it Get on it Ignore art graders Get on that I think We have to go true well you see now he knows a lot about Robot Wars in general if he'd said no I've never heard of the game I'd be like okay maybe but now he's shown a lot of knowledge that could just be how many episodes are you in

41:49no more than sex okay I'm gonna say true you're gonna say true Dan were you once in Robot Wars yes he's hard to get one pass isn't he he's a crafty little sucker I'm also not a good liar no this is a what you've done is you've brought me into a situation where you're like you need to tell a very cool story and you are a storyteller and a narcissist I was on the line if it wasn't for Robbie I would have said true with the Biffy Clyro one so pussy bitches out there we've seen a generational comeback before so we might see another one so Dan here's another one for you I once spent a week in the Caribbean with Susan Boyle Is this him just naming Scottish people again?

42:37Okay Why did you meet Susan Boyle? I didn't mean we were on the same cruise boat Oh okay, by chance? I was performing And I think she was just having a holiday But I didn't get to ask her she was secreted to separate more exclusive parts of the boat that comedians weren't allowed to just fucking wander into was this was this like when she was in a pomp yes well yeah i mean i guess so no maybe not in her palm because i guess she was famous in around 2004 and i was about 21 at the times this would have been 2011 okay so people she was still known yeah i mean look they gave her entire sections of the boat to herself because she did not want to be and not in like a diva way i don't want to picture it's like uh she was screaming about it but like you know there were lots of people on this boat who americans and scots uh who absolutely knew who she was was she performing no no not at all she was on holiday what's 2004 when she popped off was it i think so i think it was like 2004 yeah i mean i was still in high school right yeah that sounds about right?

43:49Which is mad, isn't it? Yeah, my nan loves her. Any questions? Still? Yeah, I think she gets all her, when she does like new albums and shit. Can you remember when she did the album thing? Suze Adal Bum Party? Suze Adal Bum Party? That was prime Twitter. That was, hashtags. Any input over there, Mrs Dent? Not loads to ask on this, is it? You were performing on a cruise ship. Did you speak to her? No, but there was constant rumors that she was going to be in the like that she was going to turn up into the comedy club on the boat a bunch and i had a susan boyle joke in my fucking i was 21 i was young and fucking still got it no no and i can't even remember what it was but i remember it was i remember it wasn't a clever joke it was just like it was just a joke at the expense of i needed to name an ugly person and she was the one i went for and i remember like being in like every night before the show the other comedians when they came off stage were like she's in the crowd trying to get me to not do the bit or do it and just get fucking tetchy What do you think you would have done if you looked out and saw her?

44:54That's a good question I wouldn't have done it, I hope I wouldn't have you know maybe the fucking young narcissist that I don't give a fuck what anyone thinks of me might have done it to get a fucking reaction the adult in me now really hopes that I would have been like oh god making a fun of a national treasure while she's just gonna and enjoy the art and the particularly cunty thing to do. I think the art graders version of you would have done it. Absolutely, yeah. Man, if she'd ratted me an extract, I would have fucking, if I'd gone in with a free loader and I had a fucking blueprint not on my arse, oh God.

45:28There's not loads to ask on it, but I'd lean towards, see, my issue here is that this is nothing against Daniel. I'd lean towards it's true purely because I can't imagine Jack would have made up two lies with random scottish people in can't you you can't imagine jack half-arsing it you can't imagine jack half-arsing it i'm in the car down so you're thinking lie are you no i'm not i don't think i am but but also you see i wonder daniel's it's quite a simple story yeah i wonder if he'd have brought to the table a better story well you got me you got that you got the Floyd Mayweather out the fucking back he seems to be doing them in descending order yeah do you know what I mean he's like yeah so you're thinking Daniel wouldn't have even told this to Jack I yeah maybe because that's not quite offensive if it turns out it's true though yeah how is that offensive though well because what I've said is his stories are shit but I'm not meant to oh I thought you meant he was being No, no, I think it will come across that.

46:35That's my only thought. Well, to be fair, it was the coolest story I had. When I was fucking 21 years old, it was the coolest story I had for a very long time. Yeah. I was fucking calling it at that point.

46:46I'm leaning towards true, but you're thinking a lie. I don't, I'm unconvinced. Okay, let's go lie. You're going to go lie. We'll go lie. Sierra has all the best active and outdoor brands for the super athletic stuff, Like running gear for cruising up the trail. Woo! And the super athlete-ish stuff. Like fishing gear for chilling by the creek. Nice cast. Fitness apparel to push for higher reps. You got this. And golf balls priced so you can afford to lose one. Or a few. Head to Sierra or Sierra.com for the brands you want at the prices that let you do it all. From athletic to athletic-ish, Sierra's got it.

47:26Propel Fitness Water. With Gatorade electrolytes, zero sugar, and vitamins, Propel hydrates better than water to help you get the most out of your workout and get back to your best self. What propels you? Propel with Gatorade electrolytes. Fall has never looked or tasted this good. Sweet Greens Fall Harvest Menu is back with seasonal favorites dressed to impress and made to be devoured. Warm roasted sweet potatoes, crisp apples, maple glazed Brussels, and crave-worthy flavours in the Autumn Harvest Bowl, Maple Glazed Salmon Plate, and Roasted Bacon Brussels Side. The season's most desirable menu has returned to Sweetgreen, featuring Fall's best dressed.

48:09Make your move. Order on the Sweetgreen app. Is it a truth or is it a lie? It's false. It's false. Fucks. I actually feel bad for getting it. That's really good because that's a compliment now. He's got a much more interesting life than that. This is going to sound like bollocks, right? I swear on my life. Because the world's here. I genuinely forgot Susan Boyle was Scottish when I wrote that. I just picked the name out of my head. Like Biffy Kyra, I was like, yeah. And then I just thought, who's a random person? I feel bad. So he did half-ass it. Yeah, that's Jack's fault, not yours. This is 4-0.

48:39I was on the true on that one. This is 4-0. We have the potential to do nine of these. So Dan would need to get five on the bounce. It's doable. If this happens, this is the greatest moment in happy hour history. Okay. All right. So I need to be... It's putting pressure on me to get it wrong now. Right, okay.

48:59Right, let's go for this one then. Okay. I was at Trump's inauguration. Wow. By choice? And I don't even know what that word means. Yeah, performing, just a fan.

49:16Just a big, big fan. No, the first one, the first inauguration. Okay, when was that? back in 2016. What context were you there? I was doing a comedy club. I was just performing in a comedy club in Washington. And it just happened to be the fucking same weekend. And my friend was like, shall we go? And I was like, I don't know if we can go. And he was like, he might get shot. And I was like, no. That's a good enough reason. What was, what happens at inauguration? uh it's you know i in retrospect you know i wish we'd gone on like the women's march like like the the bit that looked fun yeah because like the actual inauguration was just very you know fucking it was weird do you just go do you just turn up in a huge crowd of people not a huge crowd at all famously not a huge there was there so this was when i first became aware of like just how much and how freely Donald Trump lies.

50:20Because like when we got there 20 minutes before his fucking speech and we get to the front, no fucking problem, right? I mean, there's maybe like, you know, I'd say maybe about five, six, there's the big front, which is like celebrities, politicians, fucking whatever. Yeah. And then there's like big gap and then there's like the public bit. Right. And we got to the fucking barriers 20 minutes before he was there. And then later on, somebody showed us a picture, an aerial shot of the Obama inauguration, and we saw how far it went back. And we could point literally where we were in the Trump one.

50:57We were like fucking one quarter of the way from the stage. And then that night, that was when he tweeted for the first time, record number, posted a false fucking picture about it. And me and my mayor were like, well, he's full of shit. Little did we know how foolish he was, but yeah. Well, did he actually post a completely incorrect photo? He posted the Obama ones and was like, this was my inauguration, this was there. And I was in that fucking ground. Because we couldn't believe. It was all the way up to whatever the big fucking pointy Washington monument. Yeah, right. Obama's was all the way up to there.

51:33And we were at the front. I also wanted to, because I'd been very sort of spoon fed, the information that all like Trump supporters were dumb, racist morons. I was like, well, that can't be true. Like there's got, like there's gotta be more to it. So I did want to go in there with an open mind and try and like find out why people did vote for them. Right. What were they like? They were great. They all hate. They all hate the Clintons. I've never experienced anything. Like Obama came out and like, I was expecting massive fucking booze, but like a lot of the Republicans that I was around were like, they were like, fair enough.

52:07Didn't like him, but we respect the president. we'll give it there and then trump came out and like all the people i was with fucking cheered so you could hear boos from the other part of the fucking city and then they panned to hillary clinton and i've never heard a boo like it in my life across across the board both sides most deafening roar i've ever heard in my fucking life true painting too rich a tapestry here he just might be very clued up on politics so yeah but that's that's a great detail though Obama getting a that's an unexpected Obama getting a cheer real head Obama was there yeah doesn't he like pass the mantle yeah the only the only the only president in the history of the United States that has not handed over the things was Trump to Biden really yeah for the for the after the January 6th well before January 6th see he was just being a little clued up I'm just massively into American politics clued up on politics so he would He might have watched it on TV and had all this information.

53:10He might have done, but that's... I don't think he'd get that... I felt like I was there when I was having a... I was picturing it. Wonderful, wonderful storytelling. Just as an aside. Did Trump not hand that over just because he's that little, like you're not having the ball sort of thing? Because he pretended that he still was peddling the conspiracy that the election was rigged and that the 2020 election was stolen from him, despite the fact that anyone who has said that on a news agency has been sued into oblivion. Brock's had to pay fucking$750 million in fines for this really horrible, factually provable lie that the Dominican...

53:49The voting machines. Machines, yeah, yeah. They were all fucking rigged, and they weren't. And he's still peddling that line. Now it's part of the fucking great Republican lie about this whole pushing out different reality on the world that's always been his tactic, and I've seen it in real time. true i was so true he's just so clued up on it which makes me think he'd know all of this stuff without being there yeah but i don't think you'd know i don't think you'd i think the it's the cheering of of abama i think you'd hear that on the tv and he clearly watches this stuff to get all the information are you saying you were actually on the barrier yeah i was actually actually on the barrier right on the fucking front um why is that not barrier a truck to be fair i didn't take i didn't take many photos no uh because i was obviously like i'm fucking telling no dude but i did buy i did buy a maga hat but only because uh when we walked in there was like a black guy selling MAGA hats and I was like, buddy, I gotta ask.

54:58Are you, do you like Trump? And he was like, fuck no, I'm just here to make money off of idiots. Well, I'm an idiot, here's 20 bucks, give me a fucking hat. That's a good bit. That's another good bit of, yeah, I'm going to have to lean with Robbie, I'm going to say it's true. You're going to say it's true. Dan, were you at Trump's first inauguration? What? That's a mental story, isn't it? That is a mad story. mental story 5-0 so I think we just do two more we'll do it for a little bit of flair I want you to get one Dan I'm backing it I'm backing it your truths are too true yeah because the storytelling is good as well it is so hard to then lie and I also think you're getting better at knowing what lies are right well Robbie's the one who called that I was completely on the other side on one of those so Daniel should have one really okay how about

55:52So if this is now a lie, by the way, before you even say it, if this is a lie, Jack's laughing at something he's written, which is pathetic. Just saying that in advance. Which Scottish celebrity will be involved in this show? I believe my invention, the slossy coffee, is miles better than actual coffee. And I've made it for most UK comedians that I am friends with. Okay, straight in recipe. it's so it's uh it's it's meant to be a pun on like a slushy so instead of like it just being like a regular like iced coffee if you make coffee and you stick it in a ninja slushy machine yeah with a bunch of uh either fucking cream or milk into the thing it comes out as like a frozen slush and if you put that in with like espresso martini stuff it's a boozy slushy coffee thing and because it's got coffee in it you're legally allowed to drink it at 10 in the morning and you call it you call it the slushy coffee so whenever oh i thought you said slossy coffee slossy coffee yeah yeah but it's my nickname in high school was slush because people were making fun of sloss so it's like a i'm look in the same way that black people who claim the n words i'm reclaiming slushy okay okay and that's your right i'm taking this word that was used against me and i'm redefining it okay um and i make it for comedians whenever i live in enra back in my fucking back in the original enra french days i was a fucking party head i'd be out every night getting fucking shit faced now i sort of uh like to assign myself the role of i'll occasionally get drinking but i like to uh you know remind comedians that there's stuff to do during the day and because i have kids whenever my comedians friends come to see me they're normally coming very fucking tired very fucking hungover and the best way I can make them fun for me and my kids is to get them slightly drunk and buzzed up on coffee at 10am in the morning How often would you say you have these coffees?

57:54When I'm with my kids, never, I'm not fucking drinking at 10am I take you know the fucking Stanley cups once it's made from that you pour it into that put a big fucking straw in it and I'll take my kids out for a walk and I'll tell whatever comedian and then I'm going for a walk and I'll give them the fucking Stanley thing. When did you come up with this? Only recently. The slushy machine's only been out for, like, fucking Ninja slushy came in last Christmas. That's good. What, was that what you were trying to catch? Yeah, because the Ninja, all these Ninja things are quite recent, aren't they?

58:26Are they? I don't even really know what... I think they did, like, the air fryer and stuff, like, a few years back. Yeah, which is just an oven. They've got the ice cream maker and stuff now. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's good. You can't put, you can't, for some reason it doesn't turn into ice cream as well. Would you do a little coffee ice cream one? Well, I really want to try and make a fucking double coffee ice cream slossy float. So it's like you make the boozy coffee with the fucking slushy and then I can put like coffee scoops of the coffee ice cream into the thing. But the consistency is just odd.

58:58Seems very excited by the idea, which is making me lean towards it being a real thing. He's as excited for this as he is for Ark Raiders. it's yeah yeah yeah look if you want to stay up till two in the morning to be fair i actually i i haven't done that but just because my tolerance to caffeine solo if i was to drink at 10 p.m i'm not sleeping till fucking six a.m what are you what are you thinking i think it's very believable i'm just thinking about having one to be honest it does sound good it does sound good it fits in with all the the recency and the dates all match up with the rise of ninja the secret is sweetener over sugar sugar is too grainy and doesn't work well unless it's fully dissolved it'll catch the crystallizing fucking ring in the middle whereas if you put sweetener in there it's much easier it's either true or you have so much mad knowledge about this ninja slush machine we must have a ninja slush machine but then what are the chances that he just happens to have one and jack's create oh no because i didn't mention that oh they're very popular.

1:00:02Okay. Very good as well, I should say. I've not got a ninja slushie, but... My wife's machine, I bought it for her Christmas. But you're using it more. I believe it. Yeah, I believe it. I'm going to say true. You're going to say true. Dan, did you invent the slothy coffee, which you believe is far better than normal coffee? No. Wow! He's got one on the board. How do you have that much information about the ninja machine? My wife does have one. My wife does have one. I'm just so clued up on it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And it is the best. It's gone. I love it as a machine. But you've created a fake drink that we've all just gone, I want to have one.

1:00:40Yeah. You can make it now. You can make, what I actually made with them, you can make a fucking protein thick shakes. Like, like if you're trying to fucking bulk up a McDonald's milkshake, if you put a protein shake in there with a bunch of protein powered there, some fucking egg white and oat milk, you can make this fucking thick and it's ridiculous it's like 90 grams of protein in a very thick drink and you will shit yourself no less than four hours after that this is a great ad for Ninja but it's all for games right we've got time for one more and I'm going to let you pick the keywords Stevie so we've got three more on here just so you don't think I'm picking a tree for a lot to end on do you want to do Oasis, Sat Nav or Obama I think we've already done a Trump one, so let's leave Obama.

1:01:31Okay. Do you want Oasis or Sat Nav? Oasis is going to be the maddest story in it, but that just makes me think it's going to be true straight away. Let's go Oasis, I think. Okay, we'll go Oasis. Okay, last one, Dan.

1:01:46Liam Gallagher has a very weird nickname that he's called me every time I've met him. How many times have you met Liam Gallagher? Twice. What's the nickname? Matt Fyfe.

1:01:58Who's Matt Fyfe? Matt Reif. You know who Matt Reif is? The comedian. He's a very famous American. Great nickname, actually, yeah. And I'm from Fyfe. Very good nickname. So he calls me Matt Fyfe. Okay. You've met Liam Gallagher numerous times, or be? A handful of times. Yeah, it does. I don't think he knows my actual name. He only knows me as Matt Fyfe. How did he call you that for the first time? Kevin Bridges is his friends with the Oasis boys Okay And he's just met you and started calling you that Well I could get Bridges Bought me tickets, well don't BOMB tickets but got me tickets For the Edinburgh shows Okay I was like do you want to come backstage and meet him afterwards And I was like yes And I went to two of the ones And the first one he introduced me And then he was talking about comedy because he's a big comedy fan That's why he likes Kevin Bridges And he was talking about on his fucking reels He's got this comedian called Matt Fyfe and then I was trying to fucking, you know, I was like, oh, I actually know Matt.

1:02:56He was like, you know, Matt, but you're from, where are you from? I was like, I'm from Fife. And he went, ha ha, Matt, Fife. Obviously, that's a very funny joke. And like, obviously I would have laughed even if it hadn't been funny. But like, Bridges laughed a lot. My fucking wife laughed a lot. And then obviously that fucking stayed in his head. And then like, the next night we went back to the fucking same show. I walk in and he gets to do the joke again in front of everyone. I'm like, hey, It's my fight. And I just have to fucking take it because it's, you know, it's fucking Oasis. You fucking do.

1:03:27It is a good nickname. I'm like, I'm going to fucking embarrass him in front of Kevin Pidgey. No. I'll take my goddamn medicine. Do you like Oasis? Do you like the music? Yes, absolutely. Yeah, yeah. What are you thinking, Robbie? You look inquisitive. Yeah, Robbie's on the fence here, I feel. I just, that's what I just said. I don't know.

1:03:46He managed to crack into my persona. I don't know. I don't think Robbie knew. where are you going are you is there a bit of you thinking the Matt Fyfe joke is from someone else and he's put this into this story how did it come about again so how did you get on talking about because he was on how do you know Kevin I'm a comedian and he's like well I've heard of you and I'm like well obviously not since we're having this fucking conversation and he was talking about just as before he goes on stage he just fucking scrolls his phone. He's like, most of my stuff is stand-up, which is unsurprising because lots of musicians and actors are really big stand-up fans.

1:04:26Brad Pitt is a massive stand-up comedy fan. There's lots of, Lewis Capaldi is a massive stand-up comedy fan. So he was talking, who he likes, but he likes a lot of American stuff. And he was, you know, I've got opinions on my wife. I was offering to him. And then he was talking, and he was like, you know, he's never fucking heard of me. Where are you from? Fife. I believe it. About Fife. works well but that is the only thing is the Matt Fyfe because if it's not true Matt Fyfe's come out very quickly but then also since he boomed there's a chance that's just been linked to you anyway nothing to do with Liam Gallagher so that was easy for you to go cool I can use that oh see he deeps it a lot doesn't he just melt over it okay true then don't care That is a true does Liam Gallagher have a weird nickname for you?

1:05:20No, I'm never meant to. That is fantastic. Where did Matt Fyfe come from? Well, that's a joke I have on stage. I make fun of Matt Rife on stage in a friendly way. And, you know, and it's a joke that only works in Scotland. Yeah. Because people in England, it's a joke I love doing in Scotland because it's the only place that it works. Because England and Ireland have obviously never fucking heard of Fyfe. Yeah, yeah. I like that way of going, Matt Phyfe's very good. So you're just like, thank you. Thank you very much. Thank you. It does deserve a lot more credit than it often gets. Dan, I thought you were good at that.

1:05:55I thought you were good. I should have. The problem was when you were like, tell me a bunch of like really cool, true things about you. I was like, I got fucking heaps of cool, true things about me. And then you just give me a chance to sell these stories. I should have gone and, you know, with the Sean Locke tactic of just less is more. Yeah. What's 2026 got in store for you, Dan? You got lots coming up or? My wife will try and get another baby out of me. Oh, do you think you'll have a third? Yeah, it's so hard to, you know, when the person who does all of the hard stuff, it's hard for you to be like, it's really difficult.

1:06:28I'm like, I don't know if I want a third. Me saying to my wife, I don't know if I want to go through you being pregnant again or you giving birth again. And her being like, well, I do it. And so like your opinion is, it's valid. You're allowed an opinion in this conversation. But from that particular angle, it's a you know your stock share is very low you're not getting the decided vote um but also like how many kids do you have i've got three it does it's great i think it was the other way around i had to persuade my wife yeah to have a third i've never met anyone who has three who went from the second to the third to the fourth that regrets it yeah i know someone who had two kids didn't want any more it's a friend of a friend didn't want any more and his wife was going come on come please and so one more then she went okay fine and then they had triplets oh and he was like he was like i've ruined my life he wasn't even funny he's going he's going to absolutely fuck my life up we can't ever go on holiday again can't do i've never heard that story probably wow yeah that is so i know the person uh you'll know the person whose friend is right oh wow that's brutal wow yeah how are they now i don't know i've not it was a more of a friend of a friend killed himself immediately well aside from a third potential kid how's the stand up going you got a big show coming up yes I'm doing I'm around the UK all year but I'm doing Wembley on the 28th of November not the football stadium but obviously the arena beside it lie

1:08:01so the show's called Bitter yeah yeah have you been touring that already or is that? Yeah, so I started writing, I guess at the Fringe, it was sort of almost done last year and I've been touring it properly this year and I'll tour it deep into next year because I'm spending a lot more time at home and actually enjoying stand-up rather than doing it every day and wanting to kill myself. Has your comedy changed a lot since becoming a dad, would you say, or not? Yeah, much worse. Much, much, much worse. You become softer as a parent, which is an objectively good thing. It makes you more empathetic.

1:08:40I feel like it makes you more compassionate. And it's sort of, you know, it ages you. Like you sort of become aware of how like small and short and fickle and random life is. So the sort of edge that you have when you're younger, when not caring about anything is such a fucking privilege that I think young people should fucking lean into it. But I feel like, you know, once you have kids, you're just like I'm a big soft fucking loser I'll still say horrific things but you know your heart's not in it no no no no I'm just doing it for the love of the game there we go this has been Jackmates Happy Hour podcast with me Jackmates Stevie White Robbie Knox and the brilliant Daniel Sloss Dan it's been seven years but I've enjoyed this just as much as the first one I'll see you in another seven see you in another seven thank you I don't remember in the first one where are we doing the end question can't imagine so like early on I might have asked you this last time, but we're going to spring it on you anyway.

1:09:31What's the meaning of life, Daniel Sloss? Oh, from a purely factual point, it is happiness. Life is meaningless. There is no meaning to life. So therefore, because it's all random and chaotic and it doesn't mean anything, to win at it, you just have to be happy the most. And it's not easy to be happy all the time. You shouldn't be happy all the time. But in the moments that you are happy, you should have gratitude in those moments. and in the moments that are shit, you should have gratitude for them as well because if you didn't have those shit moments, then the happy moments wouldn't be as good.

1:10:05It doesn't matter what you believe in. It doesn't matter what you think happens after we die. If you can live a happy life, which I do not, I threaten other men on our credits from stealing my gear. I will get banned from this game very shortly. I say horrific things that are unrepeatable. And when I get banned from that game, then I'll find inner peace. There we go. Matt Phyfe, everyone.

Comedian Daniel Sloss was one of our earliest guests and first came on nearly 7 years ago when Happy Hour was just a baby. Speaking of babies, Dan’s had two of them since! We chat to him about marriage, fatherhood, and how his wife started giving birth in her SLEEP. Dan has the most detailed answer ever to our Hall Of Fame question, and he tells us about his new hobby that originated from a drugged up bet.

We play a game of 'Would You Lie To Me?' in which Jaack feeds Dan a series of statements, and Robbie and Stevie have to decipher whether they're true facts or porky pies. Did Dan set up the Floyd Mayweather v Conor McGregor fight? Did he once spend a week in the Caribbean with Susan Boyle? Did he sneak into Trump's inauguration?
