4:17We are recording this on the hottest day of the year with one of the hottest guests. Yeah, and he doesn't mean in looks either. It's Simon Wilson, back for the hat trick. How about you, mate? Yeah, thanks so much for having me back. Really appreciate it. You're a Happy Hour classic at this point. I love it, I just can't get it up. To give you an idea, when he first walked in, Fiona went, has Simon been in the studio before? and went, yeah, the second time. And then instantly went, that first studio, how hot was that? So Simon's been here since pretty much very early on. First appearance, 12th of November, 2020.
4:53First two years of Happy Hour. No way. Yeah, 2020. Six years ago. Lockdown vibes. Mate, that is scary. It's gone so quick, hasn't it? Wait, it's time gone. I know. Second appearance, almost exactly two years ago. So 9th of May, 2024. Yeah. also he said about how hot the other studio was you were in the other studio in november and still come that's how bad it was honestly it was hotter in it's hotter in that studio than it is in dubai well we always say this but we had a guy called rafael rowe used to come on the podcast a couple of times and he's the guy i don't know if you've seen it on netflix there's a show called inside the world's toughest prisons and he was like the host of it and he reckons it was worse in our podcast studio than it was in like Columbia prison.
5:37But we're out of there now. We're in our new gab. Speaking of previous guests, Simon, we've got something to tell you, right? Okay. We recently had, I don't know how down with the kids you are on TikTok and all this stuff. Do you know who Bevo is? Bevo? I've heard of him. The guy that swallows potatoes whole. You've got your mates there. Do you boys know Bevo at all? Swallows potatoes whole? You winded me up. That was how we got big on TikTok. I need like a roast dinner. Like, I've only just said, like, obviously when you're scrolling, like some things will come up. Yeah. Because he, like, he goes out with an OnlyFans stand.
6:10He did, yeah. She started chagging about, so she left him. He got his mum on OnlyFans. Wow. Yeah. How did she do? That's not the follow-up question. Any subscribers? He's an interesting guy, right? He's an interesting guy. He splits opinion. anyway we had him on the show yeah to find out about his life and randomly out of everything he said he said um if he could be anyone else on the planet he would be you how does that make you feel great i feel like i need to get to know him a bit better well we was gonna ask if you could be anyone would you want to be be though i don't know enough about him to commit to that would you want to be able to swallow a potato hole i would rather do that than try and get my mum on OnlyFans, I'll be honest.
6:59They're not the only two options. But you actually make content with your mum. It's much more PG. That was a mad segue. Yeah, it is mad, isn't it? My sister, by the way, massive fan of yours, like, I'm a huge fan. And she said, she edits the YouTube clips and stuff now, and she said, I told her you were coming on, she said, tell Si that I love the videos with your mum. Oh, I appreciate that. That's me doing that. Because your mum's not like, I just imagine you're going to be from a family of people who have well-traveled, but your mum's not, is she? Not at all. So my mum never had a passport. There's a big backstory.
7:35I don't know how deep you want to go into it. But yeah, my mum literally got her first passport recently. Her and my dad got divorced after 27 years. We never went away as a family. Couldn't afford it, basically. Right. And then, yeah, when they got divorced and my mum met this new partner and she got her first passport at 60 years old. wow and yeah she's just started traveling but yeah she's she's got the eye for it now she wants to go everywhere i know we probably spoke to you about it in the in the first episode we did but where did you get the love for it then it's just for what traveling as a whole yeah so again like i took my first flight at 17 and it was like i never thought about traveling i was always really career focused and entrepreneurial and you know a big work ethic having a paper round at 13 and i don't No, like I just had jobs.
8:25I was grinding away and grinding away. And, you know, a lot doesn't work out. Your boss is a nightmare or the company takes a turn or something. I got to 25 and I was just like, I'm trying so hard to work. And I was sort of no better off in a way. Right. And I was like, I just want to go and see the world. And then, yeah, one trip to Thailand in literally 2015 just sort of changed. That's not even that long ago, really, is it? No, it's years ago, yeah. That's mad. Because I've done over 100 countries now. and the first fight I ever took was 17 years old. And between 17 and 24, I hadn't travelled that much.
8:58Wow. Holiday here and there. Yeah, that's sick. Could you ever see yourself travelling? I couldn't do it the way you do it. I love being at home as well, which is a bit of an issue for me. I don't like living out of a suitcase, and you put yourself in some awful situations. Yeah, I want to speak to you about the train journey in a bit. I mean, the only train I ever get is from Norwich to Liverpool Street, greater anglia and i fucking hate that enough that's two hours and you're doing 100 hours across america and stuff but you've got some big life news mate since you last came on i know you're a father mate congrats thank you so much mate honestly the biggest achievement the biggest yeah yeah how is it has it been tough because we we recently had danny aarons on the pod who yeah he didn't shy away from the fact that it's quite tough do you find it tough or yeah listen and obviously it's a massive change, isn't it, in general.
9:48And it's like, obviously, you grow up in a very different way and, you know, life's very different. But, you know, it is really hard. I think I've been blessed with one that isn't too hard. You know, he sleeps well, he doesn't cry too much, a really happy character and fun. And honestly, man, he's just the best thing in the world. That's amazing. How difficult does that make your job now? Because I imagine just leaving a... It's a weird one, to be fair. I would say like before, before we had him, it was like, you know, you're like, oh my God, I'm busy. There's no time in the day. Like da, da, da, da, da.
10:20And then he comes, I'm like, oh my God, I had so much time before. Yeah. I'm like, now I have no time at all. But then equally, you're like, you do initially think like, oh, flipping heck, like, you know, I'm not going to be able to travel. Like it's going to stop. I can't. Mate, like he's one years old. He's been to 14 countries and four continents. So yeah, he's not going to remember. Wow. But yeah, like honestly, he's done, well, we just did a lap of the world. We did 14 flights in total and he did all 14. The longest one was Dubai to Sydney, which was 15 hours. Absolutely loved it. Like, yeah, he's just a dream, but obviously it helps having a great partner as well.
11:00Right. Yeah, like help along with that. Does he get to fly for free? He does under two. Mate, we love a freebie, don't we? It doesn't get free Mackie, so does it? No. Well, he's got a free Big Mac, yeah. Wow, that's mad. So he's been to more countries than me. Are you keeping like a document of all the places? Yeah, it's one of them because people are like, oh, do you want him to visit all the countries? I'm like, listen, I'm not going to force anything, you know, just see where life takes us. Right. But it's amazing. Like he's been to Australia, he's been to Japan, he's to Hong Kong, Hawaii. Like, mate, it's mad.
11:32Was he born in England then? Yeah, he was born in England. Right, okay. But honestly, like super, super grateful. Yeah. You know, to think growing up in Wrexame, not being able to go abroad at all with my family because like going off topic but like i we always as kids like dreamt of going to disney world like disney world was the dream right like i loved disney films growing up and it was like and every year we were like oh we'll go next year and we just never went because we just didn't have the money to do it right and like dexter's been to every well i think there's six disney worlds as disney was packed yeah so he's been to everyone bar Shanghai and less than one years old.
12:10And like, you know, just to, like, mate, you're like stood like looking at the, I know it sounds very cheesy, but you're stood looking at the castle like in Orlando with your son. I'm like, oh my God, like the fact that we can do that when I could, honestly, mate, it's like, mate, seriously, like it's a lot like. What were them first few days like then of being a dad? It's mental. Is it? Oh, mate, your head got, that's the thing. I feel like there is an unspoken thing in men as well with it because like obviously you know flipping egg you have a completely new respect for women when you see what they go through oh mate honestly absolutely amazing right just me just getting any respect for women would be great because i have no respect for women
12:55there's a reason i say that i think our last 70 guests on here have been male and my reddit page just go he just must be sexist at this point read it just between us and steve you can back me up on this just a little side note from simon's amazing story about fatherhood we had two amazing women booked this month both of them cancelled me on the day didn't they they probably realized that we just keep making wank jokes they don't want to be here sorry i don't know where you were mate no but like um it's like i don't know you just have this whole new respect for women yeah see that whole process but equally you know it is i feel like it is hard for men as well do you know what i mean like there is you know it's a lot to take on there's a lot of changes a lot of responsibility and you know you don't like i never thought about this you're traveling around the world making videos and even though you have a mortgage and stuff but you haven't really got any responsibility in that respect and you know you do like i said you do grow up in a in a weird way and you look back and you think oh my god i knew nothing right i mean right listen it's hard it's a lot to take on but you quickly adapt to it and honestly it's the you know for every hard bit which it does have yeah it's 10x in the in the good bit that's what a lot of new parents say yeah but it's hard to explain it because like beforehand i'd be like seeing to my mates with what's it like what's it like and they're like oh i can't explain it but it's like it's the hardest but the best thing in the world and i'm like yeah but in what way and they're like it's hard to explain that's where i'm at right now yeah well being in being in the position that i'm in now i understand what they're saying and it's it's so true is it yeah so true yeah how has it affected your content creation side of things because so you're taking him to all these countries but before when you're alone you can just walk around and do whatever you want but obviously in the back of your mind you're probably constantly thinking oh i do need to also make sure they're all right yeah it like you said it's like it is extra things to think about and like logistically as well because, you know, again, I am quite a private person.
14:51I don't put a lot of stuff out there. And, you know, and I quite like that because I think when you bring personal and like, I don't necessarily want to call YouTube work, but like, you know, it's like, I don't know. I feel like there's, like, you know me, I'm exactly, well, I'd like to think I'm exactly the same in the video. It's not like that. But then equally, I feel like there needs to be a line where it's like, this is me traveling, making videos. and this is just me chilling at home with my family, right? So, yeah, so to answer your question, you know, there is more things to think about, but equally, you know, I do still like making the solo videos and, you know, that's how I started and I remember my roots, do you know what I mean?
15:33But listen, who knows in the future, who knows? Have you, like, so say your missus and Dexter's at home and you're away, has it made you lose a bit of love for the travelling because you just want to get back or is it a nice break to go out there and travel the world yeah i think it definitely hasn't made me lose the love for it if anything it's like it's that's a great question but i would say like obviously you know you don't want to leave them it's weird mate it's like and i think it's like a that's like a nature thing yeah and i'm like you're leaving you're like oh my god like i don't i don't want to leave but then ultimately you know the reason why i've been making travel videos for as long as i because I do love traveling I love meeting people do you know what I mean so yeah like I'd say a bit of both but I wouldn't say I've lost the love for it I'd say it's harder to leave the house but then again soon as you switch that camera on you're speaking to people and you're hearing people's stories do you know what I mean you realize how you love it and the fact that I can sort of combine it with taking him on the travels and you know even though he can't speak and he's gonna not remember a thing you know he is also you know taking a lot in you know visually and you know and when you travel, mate, people are so good and with him and like he's seeing different cultures and stuff and like you said, even though he can't talk and understand anything, like that has to be doing good for his growth and development as a kid.
16:51For sure. You know what I mean? I'm so intrigued what his accent will be because if you're taking him to... I hope he's not got mine at all. Oh, here's the thing. So is he going to be, are you going to make him a Liverpool fan? He's a Liverpool fan. Not a Wrexham fan? Well, obviously he's a Wrexham fan but he's a Liverpool, But like, so that's the thing with Wrexham and Liverpool, right? I used to watch Wrexham growing up, going to all the Wrexham Chester derbies, Tram here at home, all that type of stuff. But then my dad's a scouser and he's from Liverpool. Right. So that's where Liverpool comes from.
17:23Like I've been, like me, I had a Liverpool kit when I was one, do you know what I mean? And I've been, and my dad lives for Liverpool Football Club. Right. And it's just been drilled into me, do you know what I mean? So like, obviously I support my hometown, but then I am a Liverpool fan do you know what I mean yeah like was that Liverpool the last game of the season and stuff unreal yeah that's where my love for Liverpool comes because it's been since my childhood drilled into me it must be surreal though being from Wrexham and you probably get asked this all the time but seeing because like we're from Norwich the other side of the country and like we can't move for the Wrexham story so they're not the documentary it's just it's just mental isn't it like it's just hard to yeah it's just hard to sort of process in a way but it's one of them it's like obviously I've followed Wrexham but I've always been a big Liverpool fan obviously done a lot of content around Liverpool it's almost like I almost feel like if I was to say I was a Wrexham fan now solely I feel like I don't want to sound like I'm jumping on the bandwagon do you know what I mean so obviously I want them to do well obviously I follow them you know I'm always checking the results and stuff um and yeah it honestly it's an amazing thing for the town like for somewhere that I've grown up mate and you know seeing that ground go from I mean I remember being in a cop when you had to stand up.
18:35There was no seats in there. And now that's knocked down in the building and you stand. So honestly, it's amazing what they've done. Where would your head be at if next year now, Wrexham were to get promoted? Oh, you can't ask me that question, can you? Liverpool v Wrexham at Anfield. I just want a draw. Yeah, just a draw suit. What if it's a cop game? I'd say Wrexham. Would you? Yeah, if it's a cop. For the underdog. If it's a cop. Yeah, underdog story. Yeah, for a cup, I'd say, yeah. I'd say league, a draw. If any of them were in the position to win the Prem, obviously you'd want that team to win.
19:10Right. I think I've answered that. When you go... I'm going to make it one... Completely sat on the fence there. I'm going to give you a position that you can't. Last game of the season, Liverpool win, they win the league. But if Wrexham lose, they get relegated. I really used to like you, Steve.
19:30You can't ask him back, can you? Do you know what? I would say you wouldn't want to see anybody get relegated. So I think not being relegated would be better than winning. Well, Jack knows at the moment, don't you? Oh, mate, I was going to totally avoid that question. I know. He mentioned it as soon as we came in, but before you came in. How's Jack doing? Fee was telling him how in the car she said, why don't you just support someone else now? Yeah, literally five minutes ago. She was like, just pick someone else. like obviously not knowing too much about West Ham obviously I follow football and all the lineups and stuff but like what's the behind the scenes story there like why did they get relegated is it the ownership like everybody I speak to seems to think the ownership and stuff yeah the owners are dodgy mate they are dodgy in what way just no reinvestment they just so like David Sullivan he has to be in control of everything so he'll just throw money at stuff like he'll spend money but he'll almost be like a FIFA manager.
20:30He'll go, I'll go and get this player or this one. Falkrug, who's like 33. 33, scored like two goals last season because he's seen him play for Germany in the Euros. He's gone and he's got no clue and he doesn't let the managers put their thumbprint on it in a way. But yeah, it's just, it's toxic there. Are you going to lose like Bowen and stuff? That's a tough one, isn't it? I don't know. Because he's married into the club now. Do you know what I mean? He's with Danny Dier, like Danny Dier's daughter. Danny Dyer Danny Dyer so he absolutely loves the club but I think he'll go I think Matias Fernandes will go I think Matias Fernandes will go somewhere like Liverpool or Arsenal somewhere big because even Liverpool were after Bowen weren't they seeing some sort yeah to replace Salah you don't know what to believe these days unless Fabrizio's talking about it it's probably not going to happen is it yeah true but let's move on from football because at least I'll get to go and watch him next season all the West Ham fans go you don't bother going to watch him I was like well I will because he'll be playing Norwich next year so i'll be there simon your um your videos are popping off left right and center can't move from on youtube they're everywhere but i love them it's good to hear this this is his new saying i still don't i said this to you the other day never heard anyone in their lives say can't move from before and he said it twice on this episode already today like oh in norwich we can't move for exome and i still don't know what it means i don't know either um one of one of your big sort of content pieces at the moment is going on long train journeys we spoke about at the top of the show uh so you've done 100 hours through america 53 hours through australia yeah um you've done pakistan's most dangerous uh train yeah out of all those train journeys which one has been the hardest for you to complete it's gotta be the pakistan one i think yeah it's just like hell is it yeah you knew it was gonna be bad going into it um did i know it was bad i had a good idea like that one but i'll do that i think it's just like again you've got no because again as i've said in the past with loads of like the hardest thing is getting no sleep right yeah so if that train is an overnight train and you can't sleep on it it's just hell isn't it i mean the train's rocking from side to side feels like it's going to come off the track but is it boiling hot on there as well boiling hot and there's overcrowded the bed is like a gym mat those bully you know the blue gym match had in school like you just it's just horrendous how long were you on that one for i can't remember i was on it i was on it a while right it's on it for about 24 hours i think and you're just sharing your you're in like close quarters 100 you sat there and then you'll go to the toilet and there's some bloke just sat in your seat and obviously doesn't speak english and i'm oh mate it's a nightmare wow why do you do it do you know what it's an adventure isn't it it's a journey and it's like and again like to answer the question it wasn't you don't know what it's going to be like coming into it and then but then even like you know the mundane stuff you never remember right you always remember the stuff that was actually really good or really bad so it's it's a it's a story do you know what i mean like even like looking back and just to be able to do it I'm grateful to be able to do it.
23:40Do you know what I mean? So, yeah, why do I do it? Good question, but it's a good story, right? What's the benefit of these really long, like you're looking at something and going, I'm going to be on that train for 100 hours. Yeah. Why? Why is that even a thing anyway? Well, it's like it depends on the journey, right? So like the Australia one that I did that was 53 hours, you went from the most southern point to the northern point and you're going through the outback. Well, very few people go through the outback, right? And I'm like, what does the outback look like? what's out there what's the thing so you'd go to actually see the middle bit but you don't get off at any point i did on this one yeah so i got off for a town right in the middle of australia called alice springs really interesting place let's say um but then like you know the america one when it's like 100 hours you go in from again one the east coast right to the west coast so i don't know like it's just about the journey isn't it i mean and the people you meet and the stories you hear and obviously again you see the edited version but not everything can make the video but everything all the conversations you have like again it's a memorable one if you do like an hour and a half long video how many hours of footage do you normally have would you say obviously i don't edit myself but like yeah a lot like sometimes it can be a lot like the first edit can sometimes be like two hours or two and a half hours and that's the first edit right what i mean so and then you watch it back and you review it and say what exactly yeah and then because obviously you want to keep the best bits in do you know what i mean yeah then equally like how long can a video be right right um but yeah like we're talking obviously the longer if you're filming a day obviously there's only so many hours you film but then if you're filming like that 100 hour train that's filmed from monday to friday like geez i feel sorry for the editor yeah i bet i remember when you came on last time one thing that stuck with me was i asked you how you film the conversations with people so and they just never seem to look at the camera because since then we've been doing um a little travel series haven't we behind a paywall on jackandstevie.com and like we we're not as experienced as you so we feel a bit awkward about it like so we have our little osmo and even as i'm trying to i remember you said you just have it under your arm and now when i watch your videos if i see your reflection or something i'm really trying to like look to see Aidan but I'm like filming trying to be all subtle and it seems any time I do it they just look at the camera so I say to you how the fuck does Simon do this?
26:10I don't I have to like work myself up to be like okay I'm gonna go I'm gonna go and ask like the reception at a hotel but I want to film whilst I'm doing it I'm like okay I'm gonna go in I'll stand outside for like five minutes I'm like okay I'm gonna do it now you're just walking in going you're right we've got the little block cams that are like the like the GoPros because they're easier to sort of just, oh, just sell a TV. They'll never know what's that. Has anyone ever asked you to not film them or kick off at the camera? A couple of times people are like, are you filming? Right. And would you just say no?
26:41No. Like you pick your audience with it. Yeah, what I mean. But like the reason why I do it that way is because, you know, you want it to be natural. You want it to be authentic. Like if I was filming us now and we're having a conversation, right, where if I went, you know, the conversation would be very different if I turned around to you and went, excuse me, I'm just going to film this conversation. Do you mind? And even if you went, oh, yeah, absolutely. I'm like, so, how are you? Do you know what I mean? It's just you want it to be raw and authentic. And, you know, that's what I try and do.
27:10But, yeah, obviously, like, you respect people's privacy. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, fair enough. This episode is brought to you by Disclosure Day. Now, for those of you that don't know, Steven Spielberg has got a brand new film out. Yes, the goat himself. And it's called Disclosure Day. Oh, I love Spielberg. Love that man. Growing up, his films were such a huge part of my childhood. I'm talking Jaws. Weird to watch as a kid. Loved it. Jurassic Park. Incredible. E.T. What a movie. I love how his films combine curiosity with fear. So you don't really often see the shark in Jaws, but you feel it. It's so tense.
27:50That's exactly why Jaws is in my top Spielberg films. I'm going Jaws and Jurassic Park. Absolute classic. Okay, okay. I'm going The Terminal, where Tom Hanks has to live in an airport for a year. And I'm going Catch Me If You Can, another Tom Hanks classic. And now, of course, Spielberg is back with his favourite genre of sci-fi with Disclosure Day, a film that asks, what would we do if we found out we weren't alone? I'm excited to see how he handles that, Stevie. And let me tell you who's in the film. We've got Emily Blunt, Josh O 'Connor, Colin Firth and Coleman Domingo. It's a completely original story as well.
28:28Spielberg, at his best, has to be seen on the big screen. Disclosure Day is in cinemas Wednesday, June the 10th, so book your tickets now. Evening. Buyer's remorse. Buy a new car? I'll be moving in. Let's get started. Sorry, I think there's been a mistake. I bought it from Carvana. You what? Yeah, great price. I even have seven days to love it or return it. So there's no... No, no buyer's remorse. More like buyer's rejoice. I guess I'll let myself out. Congratulations. I mean it. Buyer's rejoice. Buy your car today on Carvana. Limitations and exclusions may apply. There's so much the public doesn't know. Watch the new season of the Hulu original series, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. Now streaming on Hulu and Hulu on Disney Plus for bundle subscribers. Terms apply. Right now, Simon, you've obviously got mad stories.
29:39You've been kind enough to come on here twice before and share them and they always do well for us. So thank you for that, mate. Now, because of that, I think, Stevie, you might have met your match today, right? So we play Would I Lie To You? We give it a little twist. We call it Would You Lie To Me? That way we can't get sued, although we pretty much can. Stevie, you have been beaten recently, right? Matt Richardson beat me. He was very good. He was good. Simon, are you a good liar? Yeah, we'll find out. See, here's my issue. I don't even know if it matters too much if he's a good liar. Anything he says, I'm going to go, Simon Wilson, he's probably done it, hasn't he?
30:16Yeah. He has done that. Well, the truths he sent me are mental. We did have to go back and forth because I thought I had to make sure you hadn't heard them before. Yeah. Because obviously when we have a repeat guest, you might have remembered that they told you that. Might have been from six years ago. It might be all right. Right. I know you used to get McDonald's for free. So you have to delete that one. Simon, are you ready for your first one? Yeah. I'm going to turn the laptop around. There's going to be a statement on there. You have to read it exactly. And then Stevie can quiz you. I'm going to ask some questions as well.
30:46Pretend that I don't know either way. Okay. Although the listeners have said that sometimes I can fuck it up. Yeah, I don't think you should get involved. I don't want anything from you. I'll just sit there and say nothing. That'd be lovely. Right, okay. You ready to get beat again? Oh, don't. Come on. Right, that's your first one, Simon. Okay. I travel everywhere with my favourite Pokemon card. It has been to over 100 countries. Okay. Well, obvious question to start. What Pokemon is it? Diglett. I think it's a lie. That has never been Nobody in the history No I'm joking It's a Charizard Okay OG Charizard Or a specific Um OG Are you a massive Pokemon fan?
31:30Massive You could quiz him you know Yeah but You're what You're slightly younger than us How old are you? Late 20s are you? Yeah No I'm 34 Are you? I thought you were younger than us Fresh faced isn't he Or we're just looking old 34 okay so you're you're around our you're you're a yeah you're a canto boy yeah i'm assuming you don't care too much about current pokemon as much as yeah can't get into it no i can't i want to get into it yeah i've tried yeah yeah it's because they ran up they ran out of stuff to do so there's just like cling film on and shit now yeah is the card that you own graded it's not it's just on its own do you have it in a protective that's mad what you're saying it's from the original the charizard the original the one that could be worth a lot of money if it was in good condition correct and you take that to over a hundred countries it's been everywhere with me is it still good condition now no horrendous it's not worth a penny you take it everywhere with you everywhere have you got it now do you know what it's actually in my bag in the hotel oh okay but it's not physically well apple pay now because it's in my wallet yeah and my wallet's in my bag and i've got apple pay so it's not with me now okay let's believe you don't take your wallet anywhere so i always find it weird because i take mine everywhere and the amount of times we go places and you've got i've not got my card with me no it's just apple pay do you use apple pay yeah but i still have my wallet everywhere i go i've got my id in it i've got other things okay okay see it's believable but when you first took it what was your reasoning so the reasoning i took this is because growing up pokemon was my life in school i loved it right you like you're of that yeah right yeah everything and i used to cry to my mom be like man please can you just buy me a pack for two pound 50 from walworth's and my mom used to like buy me as much as i could but obviously we couldn't buy a lot yeah and i always wanted the charizard and never had one so when i could get one i was like just to remind me of how much i wanted something as a kid i thought that's coming everywhere with me oh that's a brilliant story that's a lovely story and if it's a lie you're a bad human how much did you pay for it originally because you've just bought the card on its own you didn't pack it or anything no i can't remember but it wasn't ever in amazing condition or graded or anything?
33:59It was never graded, but I... Yeah, it was like in reasonable condition. Yeah. But I can't... Being honest, you know, as I am, I'm always truthful. I don't remember what I paid for it. Okay. Have you got any other Pokemon cards? A few, yeah. How many other ones have you got? A few. Do you have like a binder full of cards or do you have any graded cards? Yeah, I've got a couple of binders, yeah.
Read the full transcript
34:28That is weird So confident about all the Charizard stuff Then you ask about Yeah Do you reckon you could name all 151 We're not going to ask you to In order Probably not Not in order? No, not in order Name a few Do you actually like Diglett? Love Diglett No, actually I don't Was Charmander always your starter on the games Or was it just the card you liked of Charizard?
34:59I started it was either always Squirtle or Charmander but then the Charizard was just the daddy wasn't it it was just the daddy that was the one where you would just die for a Charizard Charmander makes Brock quite a hard first gym leader though doesn't he I'm not too sure about that games that, red or blue both
35:27Okay, no, I'm ready, I'm ready, I'm ready. Stevie, do you think it's true or false? Does Simon travel everywhere with his favourite Pokemon card? I'm, oh, it's just that nice story bit. Yeah. That bit alone, I'm going to have to say it's true. Is this where I tell you if you're right or wrong? Yeah, Simon, do you travel everywhere with a Pokemon card in your pocket? The answer is true. Yes! And on that note, so I saw in your story that you were playing Pokemon Blue and you were trying to complete it on a flight. Yeah. So obviously I knew you liked Pokemon and obviously seeing these Pokemon. I've actually brought something to me today that I want you to see.
36:09Be very careful with it. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Yeah, just be careful with it. I'm scared. I'm scared that worms are going to jump out or something. So it's a box. An empty box. Yeah, just you can pull that up. Oh, my God. Wow. Can I take it out? Yeah, yeah, of course. Wow. This is... Right, so this is a Gemminten Charizard edition, first edition. Wow. Wow. This isn't one you travel with all the time. No, that's not one of them. Yeah, so going... Now I can tell you the truth. Yeah. I probably could name you all 151. Yeah. But I've been collecting for years. Yeah. So I've got the full first edition set in a binder.
36:55I've got the full hollow set in a binder, the unlimited base set. I've got sealed boxes, first edition fossil, first edition jungle, first edition team rocket. I've got loads of the base set unlimited boxes, all factory sealed from 1999. Yeah. Fucking hell. Ten of them. Wow. You're sitting on a lot of money. Yeah. Yeah, honestly, that's obviously the grail. There's less than 200 of them in the world. Really? Yeah. And then just to go into a bit more nerdy, I was actually going to bring it with me, right? So the first ever Pokemon cards ever, right, come out of a Japanese comic book of November 1996.
37:34There's 23 of them known in the world with the cards unpeeled in the comic book. It's 23. Logan Paul, I think, owns about three of them. Right. And I've got one of the 23, yeah. What does it look like? It's like, well, I'll show you a picture. Yeah. How do you get hold of it? Again, a lot of research, a lot of speaking to people. It's mental. When you're getting cards like this, how do you know they're genuine? Like how, obviously that's graded, so that's... Yeah, so it's graded, so obviously you know the authenticity. And then, again, just being in a lot of Pokemon communities and speaking to some really good people, you just, yeah, you get there.
38:11But that's what this Coral Coral comic book looks like. A little Clefairy on the front. Yeah. So out of this comic comes the original Ivy Pikachu, the first ever TCG trading card ever. Wow. So the Ivy Pikachu and the Jigglypuff. I'm blown away by this card. It just feels like childhood. Can I ask how much you paid for it? I'll tell you how much it's worth. But it's, well, again, it depends. It's only worth how much someone's willing to pay. Yeah, right. It's six figures. Is it? Are you not worried like carrying out a belt? Oh, really worried. The commitment to the pod is unreal. I was going to say, I can't believe you brought it in for us to look at.
38:51Wow. That's worth more than a Ferrari. It's worth more than anything I've ever owned in my life. Yeah, that's worth more than your life. Yeah. If I had to choose between me or this, I'd pick that. Yeah, if you were falling off a cliff and I could save you all that card, I'd save the card and it's not even my card. That's sick. Cheers for bringing that in, mate. Yeah, no worries. To be fair, that particular card is the first and only 10 first edition Charizard I've ever seen. Right. So that's how, like, rare they are. Yeah, I've never seen one, yeah. That is unbelievable. I like the box it comes in and everything.
39:25That's, like, the most... I've only ever seen, like, the PSA-graded, like, normal slabs, and that's, like, an absolute unit of a slab. But that's what Logan Paul wore around his neck and stuff. Yeah, I'm sure. Like, I don't know exactly what Charizard... He's definitely got PSA 10 first edition. but obviously the most famous card he owned was the Pikachu Illustrator card, which he sold for$16.4 million, I think, like a couple of months ago. Is that how much it went for? Yeah, he bought it for$5.3 million and he sold it for over$16 million. It's the most expensive Pokemon card in history. Fucking hell.
40:00So the card you travel with is a cheap version of that Charizard? It's not first edition. It's the same design. It's the unlimited 1999 base set Charizard. I've even got a picture of it. I'll show you. I love that you just take it everywhere with you. It's just in your wallet? Yeah, it's just in my wallet. You must have one of the biggest sort of Pokemon card collections in the UK then. Yeah, one of them. Yeah. One of them. But like, obviously you don't know what's hiding in people's collections. Oh, that is battered. That isn't, yeah. That's not even getting a one, is it? If you're grading it.
40:31Oh, that's unreal. That's it. Right, so it's 1-0 to Stevie. I shouldn't have said that good story. You pulled on my heartstrings a bit. Do you know what? I'm just too honest. And I know you're a good guy. You would not have pulled on the heartstrings and lied. I can't do it too speedy. Well, I think we can say this. The last time we did one of these was with Daniel Sloss. Yeah. Lickid comedian. We love him, right? Famously wasn't very good at the game, was he? I think he'd admit that. Yeah. So after the first one, you could tell whether or not he was going to be good. How are you judging Simon's ability to lie at the moment?
41:04Well, the issue is he hasn't had to lie to me yet. Where Daniel Sloss played badly was that when it was a truth, he told everything and just gave the whole story. And then as soon as the lie came up, it was like you couldn't give the same amount of a story. So you need to commit to the lie is the advice I can give you before you get a lie. Maybe this is a lie. Maybe it's a truth. Simon? I once had a cameo in Justin Bieber's music video for Peaches. Peaches. I don't even know if I know that song Neither do I Okay, how did this come about? Obviously, travelling around done a lot of videos in America my management company is actually based in America so again, just from them knowing people that opportunity come up I thought it would be a good collab opportunity might boost my profile I might do a good bit of networking.
42:07And yeah, that's how it came about. And I got absolutely no subscribers from it. Did you meet Justin Bieber? Yeah, well, only briefly. It was like, how do I say? Yeah, like, listen, he seemed like a nice guy, but obviously you've got 100 people there trying to speak to him, so he wasn't having any of it. How long can you be seen in the video for? Not long. To be honest, you can see my hand in the background dancing. Dancing? Yeah, honestly, let's not go there. What was the concept of the music video? Well, just dancing. It didn't really make much sense. Do you know what I mean? It's him dancing.
42:42There's a bit of water coming out the ceiling. He's got a lake. Yeah. For you to make a cameo, how many other people were in the same scene you were in? Oh, mate, hundreds. There was hundreds there. So were you just like part of a crowd? Yeah, part of a crowd dancing in the back. What, in LA? Yeah, like I thought, yeah, it was in LA, But I thought I would have had a better sort of role than that. Did you get paid for it? No. No. Anything else you want to know, Stevie? Where's your head at? I did get paid for it. I'm just... Oh, this one's so difficult. I just think... I don't know. You say you had a cameo.
43:21You're an extra. Not to shoot you down. That's what it was. But being honest, I thought I was going to have a bigger part than I actually am. So what you're actually saying is your management have let you down now. Well, I don't want to publicly say that. Kind of. Kind of. Anything's possible with Simon. That's the thing, isn't it? Yeah. What I will say is, though, Hayley is really nice. Okay. Yeah, really nice. What, you managed to speak to her more than... Briefly. What made her so nice? She just brought some coffees in and she didn't have to do that. No, that is nice. 200 coffees not 200 but she brought a few right and you managed to nab one uh were there any directions and what kind of dancing you had to do in this crowd no not really but one thing they did this is a bit random but i had to only have my shoelaces tied once because i double knot my shoelaces and they were like just for branding because like i had dunks on and it was like i don't know like don't ask me why but that's what they said then your feet weren't even in the shot No, but if they were in the background, they couldn't.
44:25Because apparently Nike only like their shoes tied once. See, I was leaning towards lie, but that is the maddest thing I've ever heard anyone say, to be able to make up on the spot like that. You only... So someone's come over and got excused, mate. Someone's gone to me, someone's come over and they've gone, you've double-knotted your shoes, can you just do them once? And I was like, what? like in the same way you're applying yeah so then i was like can you do it so it looks right and then she literally bent down and did my shoe oh you made someone tie your lasers as well were your shoes shown in the final video no you were being a little diva on set yeah you you tie them okay right stevie i'm gonna push you for an answer is do you think this is true or false was simon once in the music video peaches by justin bever oh see it's with you you could i I could just say yes to everything.
45:21I'm going to say it is true. Simon, is it true? Did you once have a cameo in Justin Bieber's Peaches music video? It's a lie. What's that Nike shit? So I'll tell you the Nike thing. So I filmed for Liverpool Football Club for their Christmas party and I was dancing in the back of their shoots for Liverpool, right? And because obviously Nike do the shirt, you could only wear Nike stuff. So I put a pair of Jordans on and I double tie my shoelaces. And basically the producer from Nike came over and she was like, no, because they're Nike and we just want the shoelace tied once because it doesn't look right double knotted.
46:04Wow. So I was like, what? And then, yeah, and she did tie my shoelaces. But that wasn't for Peaches. That was for the Liverpool shoes. Oh, see what he's good. Now you know he's a good liar because he's extracted the truth from something else and spun it. Okay. I see your game now. Do you know what? I'll be honest on the next one. Okay, so what's going to happen if it's a lie? Well, we've got to keep it close. Like, I could win this easy. 1-1 and he's getting confident. I like this. I like this. It's a real battle. Right, Simon, this is your next one. Okay. I once won an ITV dating show, but turned the girl down in the end.
46:44Well, the obvious question error is which dating show is it? it was called just let me think about this no honestly it was that long ago I can't even remember it was oh what was it called if you can't remember the name what was the concept of the dating show the concept let me just give you a minute I feel like we might have run into a bit of trouble on this one the no the idea of the dating show So the idea of the dating show was that there was me and three other guys. I remember what it was called. It was called Dress to Impress. Okay, I've heard of that. I know the show. Yeah, so do I because I was on it.
47:34I think I've seen an episode of it before. It was called Dress to Impress and there was three guys. I was one of the three guys. And we all had to pick an outfit for the girl. yeah and then the girl picked the outfit that she least liked then one would get eliminated yeah and then we went shopping again to get another outfit for her she'd pick the one so there was two of us left yeah and she picked the outfit that she most liked and that was the winner then the winner goes on a date okay so this show the reason you know like you'll always say like Family Guy as a hotel TV show. Like, you'll never sit at home and watch Family Guy, but if you're in a hotel, it's always what's on at night.
48:17Dress to Impress is one of those shows that when you first check into the hotel and you're just putting your stuff away whilst you're chilling, you put the TV on, that's just always on. It's one of them. What's on at when? Like, yeah, like four or five, like a daytime kind of date. It's not one of those, because there's nothing like weird in it. What was the date you ended up going on? What do you mean? Well, you said you won. So firstly, your dress, first part of it, three guys all had to pick clothes for this girl to wear. Yes. What were the rules behind the clothes you had to pick for her? We just had a budget.
48:49Okay, and what did you pick for her? Do you remember? I don't. I picked a... I can't remember. But then you said the next one, she picked the best clothes, which were yours, for the final. For the final, yeah. And then you got to go on a date with her because of that. What was the date? Yeah, but the date, as in, like, what do you mean? What was the date? What date did you go on with her? What did you do? Oh, where did we go? Oh, we went to a park in London. What, for a walk? Yeah, just went for a walk. And she had to wear the clothes you picked for her? She had to wear the clothes I picked for her, yeah.
49:21Right, and did she look good in the clothes? She looked all right. How did you have experience of dressing fine ladies? Why can't you talk about women without a beer? This is why they're cancelling on the day. No, I just like, obviously, you know what looks nice and what doesn't look nice. And I was like, yeah, I thought that outfit looked nice for the choice that I had and I went for it. So why did you turn her down? It just wasn't for me. It just wasn't for me. Her clothes are like, shit. No, it was like, there was, yeah, she was nice enough. It just wasn't for me. Energy was off. Right. I really want to know.
50:07Every part of this was a lie. Yeah. But he's plucked a dating show out of the air and has a rough idea of the concept to be able to... Everybody knows Stress to Impress. It's on ITV2 every Sunday. And I keep coming up on it. The replays keep happening. That's something that makes me think it's a lie. I feel like I would... Like Pie Face on Deal or No Deal. You've seen it. You see it and it pops up randomly. I've never once seen a clip of Simon on Dressed to Impress and I feel like I would have seen that that would have been shared wouldn't it and I think it would have come up in one of the previous episodes we did have you seen me on Hotel of Armandad anywhere?
50:50yeah oh yeah it does come up a lot actually I've tried to write to BBC take it down right Stevie is it a truth or a lie was Simon once on a ITV dating clip? I was really, really going towards truth. He pulled it around, but the laugh he just did when I said, I've never seen it. I'm going to have to say it's a lie. Simon, were you once on an ITV dating show, but you turned the girl down at the end? Unfortunately, it was true. Fuck off! Fuck off! I need to see this. I'm surprised you haven't seen it. It's on every Sunday. It comes on Twitter every time. I'm like, why do they keep playing that show?
51:29How have I never seen this? I've never seen it. I've never seen it. We have to be able to, for the video, we have to. It was like one of the first ever episodes on the first season. How did it come to be that you were on the show? Honestly, I don't even remember. I'd like to think I didn't apply for it. Was it like pre-YouTube? Pre-YouTube, yeah. Wow. Pre-YouTube. Wow. Do you actually remember the clothes that you picked or not really? I think I picked a jumpsuit the first time round. and then I picked a dress for the second time but they don't tell you what the date's going to be but then they give you like a riddle and then I'm like, I was like oh, what's the date going to be?
52:08So I picked a dress because I thought, oh, are you going for a drink or something but it ended up being in the park in London and then yeah, she picked my dress and I went on a date and then at the end you've got cards where do you say yes, would you see her again or no? So we both just went no. Oh, she went no as well Yeah, we both went no. Makes it less awkward Yeah, but no, listen, she was nice enough I think it wasn't for me. That is ability. That's very good. The laugh was good because you're obviously laughing at the fact that you do see it and I've just never seen it. Yeah, because you were going, I've never seen it.
52:37It popped up. I'm thinking it pops up all the time. But as we got a few more of these left, it might be harder because he might use his tactics up. Do you know what I mean? Yeah. Right. We'll see. Okay, next one, Simon. 2-1 to Mr. Wilson. Okay. I once spent my birthday in North Korea and the North Korean government got me a birthday cake. Okay, so we spoke about you in North Korea on this podcast. But I never told you that Kim Jong-un personally got me a birthday cake. See, look, you can't say that. That was not the line. So I know that you've been to North Korea. Yeah, I've been to North Korea.

56:09How old were you, Tannen? Oh, God. How old was I? Probably 28, was I? Right. Yeah, sweet. Right. Okay, was the cake nice? Was it a good cake? I can't remember if I'm being completely honest. It was on the rice wines. Yeah. No, it looked nice. I can visualise it. What did it look like? Chocolate cake, cream on top, and it said, Happy Birthday, Simon, as if, you know, like that piping that people had written on it, Happy Birthday. That put some real effort in as well. Oh, mate, real effort in it. And it was mega, and I couldn't believe it. And it said it in English. It said it in English, yeah. I feel like you would remember what the cake tasted like.
56:46It was chocolate cake, wouldn't it? Chocolate, chocolate cake. Yeah, it would have been nice. The food there was horrendous, by the way. The what was? The food in North Korea. Was it? Oh, it was bad. What were we talking? Well, I'm sure I've told this story on the thing, on the podcast before, right? But one night I was like, oh, what's for tea? And they're like, dog soup. And I'm like, what? Then I was like, out of curiosity, what dog is it? And they were like, oh, don't worry, silly little street dog. I was like, what's the last dog you ever want? As you can imagine, I didn't try that. Yeah, right.
57:20But I did try the birthday cake, and it was very nice. See, this is, normally, the trap I run into on this game, which I try my best not to do, is I play around Jack occasionally, which I'm not doing this time. on that last one I would have never I would have thought that sounded like a lie Jack would have made up yeah yeah I'm trying not to do that my issue with this one which is a bit meta is that I can't imagine why you wouldn't have told us about the cake when we spoke about North Korea last time because that's quite a big thing is it which I wish I wasn't now thinking I see what you're doing and then there's laugh that laugh I'm too over though you got me with that last time yeah exactly Exactly.
58:04Trying to get you again. Yeah, but I don't know which way you're trying to get me to go. This could be a generational play from Simon today. Maybe it is true. How many of you are around this table? There's about 20 of us on the tour. Yeah, like Simon deserves a cake in front of everyone. Yeah, exactly. Did this make it into the video? Question, I'm not too sure. I don't think so. Right. Are you allowed to film whatever you want when you're over there or not? You can film whatever you want, but you can't film military, you can't film construction, and you can't film checkpoints. So they're the three no-nos.
58:43And if you accidentally caught a bit of that on there, would you have hell to pay? If they caught you, yeah. Right, right. Filmed a bit of it. Did you? Well, yeah, but only because you're driving along and stuff. No, I didn't really. Yeah. A little bit. Are you allowed back? I'd rather not go back. Yeah. I would love to go back, but I probably wouldn't, especially having a little one now as well. Yeah. Just because if they've seen the video and there was something they didn't like. And I did this TikTok that went super viral and got 50 million views of me. Because when you take a picture of the statues, you have to have the full statue in shot.
59:22It's against the law to crop it or anything like that. Right. And yeah, in the video, I just thought it was funny to zoom into it. so i was like um yeah so i probably wouldn't go back just in case they'd seen that yeah because that is a crime because there was that mad story weren't there that bloke the american that went over there yeah he took the poster off the wall yeah yeah but not about posters about birthday cake stevie did simon get a birthday cake from kim jong-un is that the sentence well he is the government mate everything goes through him big kim well you think they asked him first Because Simon on this tour, Kim.
1:00:01He's a massive fan of the YouTube vlogs. Nah, I'm going to have to say this. Not because he might be a fan, but I'm going to have to say it's a lie. Simon, did you once get a birthday cake in North Korea from the North Korean government? It is actually true. Oh, fuck off. Fuck off. Oh, mate. Do you know what? And the picture's actually on my Instagram. Is it? Yeah, so I don't think it made the video, but it's on my Instagram. Me holding the cake and going up. Wow. That's mad. See, this is the perfect person to play this game. I know the answers, but then once I spin it around, there's been a couple of times where I think I've forgotten the answer.
1:00:41You're going, did I make this up? Okay, next one, Simon. Okay. I spent a week delivering live chickens across Mexico and made a silly amount of money doing it. True. so you spent a week delivering chickens yeah where do we even start there why it was super random to be honest so um i was basically traveling across mexico doing a series yeah which which series was it uh with bald and harold i don't know if you said okay um so we started in mexico city we went to guadalajara then to mazatlan and then we went up to culiacan and we had a little Nissan Micra driving across Mexico. And yeah, long story short, we got to Guadalajara.
1:01:29Obviously the content's like speaking to different people and we pull up at the food vendors. And yeah, long story short, this food vendor's like, do you want to take some live chickens to Hazatlan? And he was like, I'll pay you for doing it. How far was that drive? Again, don't know, but it was definitely a few hours. In the car, you were already driving? they haven't given you like a so so basically i drove like it wasn't a truck but it was like it was almost the same size of like a camper van but but the chickens weren't inside with you they were on the they were in the back 100 i wouldn't have done it if that was the case how many how many chickens no idea but there was a lot i'd say 100 maybe 80 what made you say yes to doing it content.
1:02:18That's a fair reason. I was like, that'll be great for the video. Me driving a load of chickens to Mazatlan. But you did it for a week? A week? Yeah. I didn't do it for a week. Well, no, I travelled the whole of Mexico. Oh, right. Okay, right. I didn't do the chickens for a week. How many did, was it just one delivery you did? Just one delivery. But it gave me a lot of money for it. It was like, honestly, like I don't even know how we made any profit out of it. Does sound like you were convinced to do a drug run. Yeah, but... What are these chickens full of cocaine? Do you know what? Like, I'm not joking saying this.
1:02:50I didn't even think about that. It does sound like you've taken their truck, which is going to be full of stuff, other than chickens. Mate, I have actually never thought of that. He's paid you an obscene amount of money to drive chickens somewhere, and you've gone, yeah, cheers, mate. That's great content. Sounds like a drug run. Mate, honestly, I have never even thought of it like that. I just thought, oh my God, great content, driving across Mexico with a load of chickens. And I've always thought, that doesn't add up. I've always thought, that doesn't add up. Well, the footage didn't make it into Narcos Mexico on Netflix anyway.
1:03:31Wow. How much did he give you, do you remember? A grand. Well, it was about a thousand USD. For 80 chickens? Jesus, that's what I mean. I didn't think it added up. Because how much, what's that? How long was the drive? over 100 but i don't know if there was 80 chickens it might have been a bit more than that how long was the drive roughly about three hours that's why it was like an obscene amount of money i was like flipping out making content out of it and i'm getting made that paid for the flight back to manchester but did you drop the chickens off individually to people no right the whole truck one guy the whole truck which which adds up with the with the whole drug smuggling thing as well i think you might have accidentally smuggled we can change it i want smuggled drugs for the Mexican cartel.
1:04:12Oh my God, I've actually never thought of it like that. That doesn't actually make sense. There's someone as well-traveled as you. I know, but I wasn't thinking, I was like in video mode, so I'm like, that's a good video. Yeah, right, fair. Smuggling drugs is a great video. Yeah. Stevie, do you think it's true or false? Did Simon once deliver chickens across Mexico? I think it's a lie. Think it's a lie? Well, Stevie. Did you once deliver live chickens all across Mexico? The answer is a lie. It is a lie. Come on. How come you didn't go truth? The drug smuggling side of it. Right, why? I think he would have thought of that.
1:04:55I think that would put you off doing it. That's a lot of money to go that far. Yeah. And that's the first thing that came to my head, and I'm not well-traveled. Yeah, true. And I've been around a drug smuggler, so I know my stuff. Right. That was a hard one to pull off. You did well. You did well. As soon as the drugs thing went into my mind, I was like, no, he couldn't. He couldn't. You've got to be so careful with everything you do. 100%. Right. So it's three, two. Yeah. We'll do two more. So I need this to equalise. I need this. This is the last one. No, two more. If you get this, you win. Yeah, if you get this, you win.
1:05:31Okay.
1:05:34I have the president of Poland. as a friend on PlayStation, and we often play FIFA against each other. First question here is, what teams are you selecting? I'm always Liverpool. Like, I have to be. I can't. Who's he? For some reason, they are Barcelona.
1:06:02I know you want me to say Legio also, but he's Barcelona. I don't know what you want me to say. I want you to say the truth. Yeah, I'm telling you the truth. This is the most red you've gone this year. What have I said? And I can't tell. Hey, do you realise how much I want to win this? I can't tell if you've gone that red because you genuinely find it that funny that the president of Poland picks Barcelona or the fact that you've gone, what the fuck am I doing here? Okay, how did... Have you met the president of Poland? I know, I was going to say Barcelona. Once. What was the situation there? gonna get you a cake for your birthday mate you wouldn't believe me if i told it but i met them in krakow i was filming in krakow i was doing a hotel video five star hotel video they happened to be staying there didn't have a clue who it was started speaking to them and the rest history no security mate oh loads of security so how's he ended up talking to you me i didn't know it was so like obviously it's it's a quite a relaxed environment in a five-star hotel so i'm just chatting to everybody fucking you know with a with a camera or nothing and then i end up speaking and i didn't even know it was him were you filming whilst talking to him um i was i was but i but like obviously you know i like i did delete it because i was a bit worried because i didn't realize who it was yeah you wouldn't do that to a playstation friend no exactly but you've got to understand all these people are actually normal people who like to play on playstation how did you realize that because you're saying i've got to realize how did you while speaking to the present opponent go how would you feel about a game of fifa again you're not going to believe me but that's absolutely fine right um you know what connects everyone when i'm traveling is football everybody knows football when you go to south america north America and I think I had a Liverpool top on because I film a lot in a Liverpool top and then he asked me about Jersey Dudek obviously famous yeah and then we just started speaking about football and then I don't know how it got into FIFA but it did and he's a big Barcelona fan what a player what a player a double save final 2005 do you remember um the Poland guys gamer tag Obviously you don't need to say it on here.
1:08:21I don't. No? I don't. No. When's the last time you played with him? Not for a while to be fair. How many games would you say you've played with him? Or how many individual sessions? Not many. I'd say how many games? Four, I reckon? When you go online, and you're just at home and you're thinking, I fancy a couple of games with FIFA, you go on, you see he's online. Yeah. Are you waiting for him to message and go, do you fancy a game? are you going like honestly like because it's actually pretty cool right playing fifa with the president of a country yeah i just like obviously like i've got no means i've contacted him other than the playstation if i see he's online i'll just send him a request like a game request and to be honest he has been online a lot like not a lot but he's been online a few times when i've been online and i've sent him a game request and he's just blanked it but then on four or five occasions he's actually accepted it and I've gone Liverpool and he he's been I've just remembered he's been Barcelona three times but I've probably when was that time I played with him probably last August September and do you talk on headset or is it just no talking it's just a game quick game yeah I don't have the headset either to be honest well I don't know if he has the headset but I don't have the headset is he good?
1:09:40no I'm sure
1:09:44oh that's a tight I'm really hoping he's not watching it. No, he's been on FIFA. I'm on the Poland shit at FIFA. Oh, God. Yeah. Okay, no, I think I'm ready on this one. Right, okay. Stevie, do you think Simon Wilson plays the president of Poland on FIFA? I think that is a lie. It just cannot be true. Why can't it be true? What's his name then? What did he say on there? so anyway it's a lie but here it says Carol is that a bloke or a female? I don't know something that was quite funny in that the first four times he's throwing me under the bus he's getting like come on give me a break yeah but you are the believable person for that the first few times during that story you kept saying they and I was going I was trying to see if I could figure out whether it was a male or female whether he knew because then I don't know enough about the Polish president but if he wouldn't know that I didn't I'll let him know on head sense you don't have a head sense mate no I know got one in the Amazon right so it's 3-3 it's the last one so this sets up nine all to play for what I will do don't give him one about a president he's already had two Stevie so we actually have two left on here right could both be lies both be truths one lie one truth can I let Simon read both of them and he can decide which route he wants to take.
1:11:13Do you want the pressure of that? It's up to you. Like I said, I'm the one making a bit of a game of this. I could have cleaned up by now. So, yeah. Very kind of you. Right. So there's two there and you can read out whichever one you want to use. I'm not looking at him. I don't want a reaction to these bits yet. Tell me when you're ready. Oh, he's taking it seriously. I can see the cogs turning in his head. He's trying to think of a lie already. Which one? Just a few seconds, two seconds. He's trying to create a story before we even get a chance. Okay. Okay, you happy? Yeah. You happy? Go on, read one at your desire.
1:11:49I have been randomly sat next to three celebrities on three different flights in my life, all in the space of about three weeks. You've been on hundreds and hundreds of flights. And I don't know if you want to define what a celebrity is. I would say if they've got like a social media follow. Yeah, that's fine. That's fine. We can include influencers within this. But you're not booked to go on the flight with them. They're just there. No, I just like happen to be there. Right, okay. Okay, and are they in economy or are they a little bit more upmarket? Good question, actually. Two were economy and one was actually first class.
1:12:30Okay, so first class, was that the biggest leb of the three?
1:12:36Yes, I suppose so. Can you name said celebrities? All three or just one? Do you want to start with one? Let's start with the one you think is least famous. Least famous. Okay, so. Get a little dig in. Who would I say was the least famous? It depends how you look at it. No, I wonder how you look at it. Okay, so. I don't know if I want to say he's the least famous on a podcast, to be honest. So the least famous was Vladimir Smica, who plays for Liverpool. Say Putin, then. Okay, well that's big for you. Were you sat, when you say sat, was it near them or next to them? Next to them, I was next door to it.
1:13:19Literally in the seat next to Schmidt? Okay, he played many a years ago. He scored in the final in Istanbul. He did. I feel like he'd still be, I don't know if he'd fly economy though. He's used to team flights and then after that he's got enough money to fly. I've been on an economy flight with him. What are you going to just say I've been on an economy flight? That's what I thought he was going to do. With Vladimir Switzer? Mate, you're winding me up. I swear. What? You're not going to knock us out of Prague as well, are you? No, no. Where? When I went to Trinidad and Tobago. You remember that?
1:13:48Oh, okay, yeah. I went to Trinidad and Tobago with like 80, like, noughties footballers and nineties footballers. No way. That's mental. Why were you flying to Prague with him? I'm just doing a video. Did you speak to him? No, I didn't go with him. No. No, he was on the flight. Did you speak to him at all? Did I speak to him? Yeah, but obviously, like, you know where you get the vibe, and I didn't want a fanboy, and, you know, it was a bit of back and forth, but nothing like... Are you a big fan of his? Yeah, massively. Like, he scored in the Istanbul final. And, like, obviously, like, everybody's got a story, but the fact that he was from Liverpool and stuff.
1:14:24Like, I speak to strangers on a fight. You never mind Vladimir Smica, but I just, you know, he obviously gets peppered a lot, so I didn't want to pepper him. Did you tell him you were a Liverpool fan? um i did i tell him i was a liverpool fan i think i did but not like in a fanboy way okay uh second one next economy one so second one again was let me just think about this i can't tell he's good at doing that he's quite good at doing that where it is a truth yeah and he's acting like it's it's well what i like about it though he's done that on one truth and one lie so far. Exactly, so there's no way of actually knowing whether he's doing that to play the game or not.
1:15:06This is generational. A bit longer to think about it. I just really want to make you think about this. Okay, no, that's fair. No, it's a decision. I mean, they were within the same, what, three weeks of each other, so I could see how you could get. Mate, honestly, it's so hard to just think. This could be a bluff, double bluff, double bluff. And it's also not like you sent the truths to Jack, so you'd already have that information in your head before even coming into the studio. No, exactly. exactly yeah so are you ready for the answer yeah no I am no no we can keep going go on the second one no so the second one was KSI okay so that's yeah okay yeah again didn't want to pepper him he didn't have a clue who I was have you met KSI since um never since I met well I didn't meet him before but um I went to the first Logan Paul KSI fight yeah so I was sort of like I was sort of had the the YouTube pass or whatever it was to like there so the in and around but no, I'd never met him before.
1:16:04So I've only ever seen him twice, once on that flight and then once at that, but I've never met him since. How long ago was that? Oh, it was after COVID, but like not long. I'd say about three years ago. I can't picture KSI flying economy, but not for any reason other than the fact that he would be absolutely hounded. Would he? I think anywhere he goes, he's getting recognised. This was years ago. Yeah, well, not really. Well, to be fair, he was getting like, obviously people are asking for pictures, but he was pretty cool about it, to be honest. And the fact he was sat next to me again, I didn't want to pepper him, do you know what I mean?
1:16:40You were the one getting the most arrows, obviously. What do you mean, getting pep? No, like, no, but he had no idea, no idea who I was. Were any other people on the flight with him? No, just him. But like, obviously when I book Economy, it was a European flight. It was to Italy, it was to Rome. but obviously I book the front of the plane so it's not really, like there's no business on the flight is there, it's just the exit row so we were sat at the front so obviously he was sat at the front because of that he's on and off isn't he? Yeah, yeah, okay and then final one which is in first class The final one was so cool man it was so cool and it was basically Toto Wolff, Mercedes yeah, well would you say he's more famous than Keir's?
1:17:24I don't know who you're saying Toto Wolff, the CEO of Mercedes He's the big boss man. He's the big boss man. I've never seen an F1. Oh, yeah. You know, like, would you say total horse? Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's a billionaire. He owns, he's the CEO of the CEO. He's like, imagine if you're a UFC fan, he's like Dana White. Okay. So if you're a Barry Hearn of Dots. All through, like, Mercedes winning all them Constructed Championships, like he was the CEO. Like, through all Hamilton's... I don't know what Constructed Championship is. It's F1, basically. Every time Lewis Hamilton won one, like, he was the CEO.
1:17:56I'm going to keep talking down about it, see how excited he gets. I know. I've never seen him in my life. Okay. Sorry. Well, I was like... Hold on, what's his name? Toto Wolff. I thought you were saying Total Wolff, like he's a gladiator. I was thinking, oh, that was a cool name. But no, as you can see, I like F1. Yeah. And to just be satanic, honestly, I don't really, like I'm saying with the other two, I don't fanboy anybody. I don't really get really excited. But with this guy, it actually made me a bit nervous. Did you speak? Yeah, but again, like, he was, like, really nice. Yeah. First class as well, yeah.
1:18:32Yeah, but it was, like, it was just, like, a passing. I think I was coming out the, well, it was Emirates, so, like, you have a shower on the flight, don't you, on first class, and, yeah, that's it. He was coming out of the bathroom to go back to the seat, and I was just, I basically said, after you, and he was like, oh, thank you very much. And I know it sounds weird that I remember it, but it's, like, he was just, like, oh, I can't remember what he said. He was, like, what did he say? he said he was like oh that's very kind of you that's what he said he went oh that's very kind of you in this like real thick german accent okay oh so ksi toto wolf that was the best one and i'll tell we can go as much detail as you want it was from rio de janeiro to abu dhabi because i'd just been doing videos in brazil and i flew rio to abu dhabi um because i was going to the f1 in abu dhabi but i didn't even realize the last f1 race before abu dhabi was actually in brazil so all these like all these people were flying doing all yeah so they were flying to go to the next one but i just done videos i didn't even realize the last one was in rio so i was just really lucky it's a poor f1 fan that you're in rio and you don't realize it's on mate i don't well i was too busy making videos so okay some elements of that seem super true some seem super false that's the issue here because you've gone you can have all the information you want which just makes it really true yeah but then I can't tell if he's mixing Schmitzer KSI Toto Wolf and Total Wolf I just I just picture him as a gladiator and it's great um Stevie has Simon sat next to three random celebrities across three random flights in his life over the space of three weeks the three 3-3-3 makes it feel fake as well, doesn't it?
1:20:21But I'm going to say it's true. It's 3-3 at the moment. Simon, can you reveal, did you sit next to KSI, Vadim Ishmise and Toto Wolff across three flights in three weeks? What I can reveal is that I am the Wood I Lighty channel.
1:20:44He's gone. He's gone. That was a great performance, that. Yeah, he's going, it just feels weird, 3-3-3. I'm thinking, you've really thought me under the bus. All of them. That's what I mean, though. I normally go into that, and the 3-3-3 is the thing that made me think lie, but then that's me going into Jack rather than what you've done. I don't even know where Vladimir Smith had come from, to be honest. He just creeped into the back of my head. He's Croatian, isn't he? The fact that Jack's been on a flight with him, though. He's Czech. Oh, is he Czech? Yeah, that's where the Prague thing goes from.
1:21:13Oh, right. Have you actually been Czech? Yeah, I have. He's a cool guy. I went to Alex's him, but I was on the fly. And then I spoke to him in Trinidad. He was a cool guy. Yeah, he was a cool guy. Have you actually met any of the three people you've... So, well, funnily enough, right, I haven't met KSI, never met him. I've never met Vladimir Switzer, but Toto Wolff. I was in New York recently, and I stayed at a hotel. And basically, like, he's obviously a really cool guy. and when the lift opened I went after you and he went that's very kind of you so that's where that story came oh wow so I did actually meet him recently but yeah I didn't speak to him oh he's good he's good that's good Simon thanks for coming on again mate yeah no thanks so much thanks for having me thank you for bringing the card as well that was unreal to see that yeah no appreciate your time I always say like where can people go and see your stuff they've probably already seen you on this pod before so most people know you but plug your channel anyway perfect Simon Wilson YouTube Simon J Wills on Instagram Simon Wilson Facebook yeah it's on everything all over the gaff where are you off to next on your travels Greece I think okay Greece any ideas of the title no idea at the minute everything's last minute the flight's not booked either to be honest it could change but we'll see what's wrong there we go congrats on being a dad as well yeah thanks so much nice one there we go guys this has been Jack Make's Happy Hour with me Jack Make Stevie White and the would I lie to you new reigning champion Simon Wilson love it

Simon Wilson makes his Happy Hour hat trick, and this time he’s on for a game of ‘Would You Lie To Me?’! Simon has to read out a series of statements - some true and some completely made up - to see if reigning champion Stevie can separate the fact from the fiction.
Did Simon have a cameo in a Justin Bieber music video? Does he regularly play the president of Poland on Playstation? Did he win an ITV dating show and then reject his match? Is it true that he celebrated his birthday in North Korea with a cake from the government?
We also chat fatherhood (his 1 year old son has already been to more countries than us) and his latest travel adventures including a trip on Pakistan’s most dangerous sleeper train. Plus Simon brings in an item to show us that is without a doubt the most expensive thing that has ever been inside the Happy Hour studio…
