In short
Episode 665 is a chaotic Happy Hour-style chat with DRUNK STEVIE, mixing a medical ad, personal stories, and a “things we’ve changed our minds on” segment. Topic highlights: Crohn’s/ulcerative colitis treatment ad for Tremphaya (self-injection or IV infusion every four weeks; then injections every four or eight weeks), plus discussion of changing opinions over time. Key claims in the ad: Tremphaya is prescription for moderately to severely active Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis; risks include serious allergic reactions, infections/TB, and liver problems; patients should be checked for infections and tuberculosis and report infections/flu-like symptoms or vaccine needs. Notable examples from the hosts: Stevie describes a cyst behind his ear drained after fear-spiraling; Jack recounts winning a local football cup and a humiliating “tiny willy” urinal encounter; they discuss “super hooch” 8% drinks; one host reviews a YouTube quest for Europe’s cheapest pint, including a visit to Transnistria (unrecognized breakaway region near Ukraine).

1:41Jackmates happy hour hey now you're a rock star get your game on go play it's me the rock star Jack Dean next to the alpha male Stevie White and the sex god that is Robbie Knox. How are you? You're looking good, actually. Actually? That's mental. Thank you for that veiled compliment. Maybe it's just because you've sat back a bit. Yeah, it could be. The camera's out of focus or something. That's what Fiona just said. She said, oh, you're looking really small. But she meant perspective-wise because you are back from the camera. Yeah, look at that. I don't think I want to look small. Do you not? I don't know.
2:22I don't think she was saying normally you're a fat cunt, but you look a bit slimmer. I think she was saying I look smaller in the frame. Yeah, true, true. How are you? Feeling good? Yeah, I feel all right, thank you. Yes, better than Stevie. I've heard he's ill. Well, I don't know. No, he is. He told me. Oh, oh, oh, yeah. I'm not feeling amazing. Are you going to be doing that all the way through the park? I'm trying not to. Right. I am not in a good way. Why is he here? Yeah, why are you here? You said we needed to film. I literally said to you this morning, do you fancy doing it? Yeah, and I said, I'll push through.
2:53And you said, you called me a trooper. And that got me excited. Did it? And then I said to you, I'm the type of man I used to write about in the war. Well, you said, yeah, I thought you were there. There's a nonce in our fucking trench.
3:07That's so pointlessly shit. I like it. I don't want to be in the movie. I feel like you're bringing the vibes. You said the car had no vibes. Yeah, well, you weren't in the car. No. No, so the car, Johnny, vibe-less. I've never seen so few vibes in the car. Struggler. That's bad. It must be more, because Steve doesn't bring loads of vibes in the car anyway, because he gets a bit car sick in that car. I get car sick, so imagine sick sick on top of car sick. He's not bringing the vibes in the car anyway, so what was the difference this time? He was in the back, Fee was driving, we were listening to a podcast, so we weren't really chatting.
3:39Every sort of 45 seconds, you'd hear Marge Simpson in the back going, all that. I sort of fell asleep for about two minutes kept waking up and just eating Pringles coming back to sleep kept eating Pringles that he said he didn't like they're horrible Pringles? no there's a new flavour you know the classic burger from Burger King which is the double bacon double bacon cheeseburger XL they've brought that out as a flavour they look nice it's way too cheesy but it's crazy because I should be a food reviewer because this would be I'd jump all over this shit I'm a scran that that's my cat food I'm not going to scran that what happens if you're not going to scram it you always scram it you have to scram it to try it and then after you're like I'm going to bin that okay and what if you like it you say I'll scram that next time again
4:31it's weird because you bite into them they taste cheesy and then all of a sudden it just tastes like the burger I don't know how they've done it fair play to the scientists behind that scientists yeah you're going to work on the cure for cancer nah I've got a better idea, mate. What have I been doing? I've had a cyst behind my ear. Have you? Yeah. I thought you were trying to tell us about your cup final. Just straight away. No, no, no. Got an cyst. Oh, no, I know. That must have been pretty traumatic for you because you worry a lot. I do worry, yeah. So how did you discover it? Well, I felt like there was a...
5:06Can you see something there, Stevie? Yeah, it's like a little lump. Right, but don't say that. You asked me if I see something there. I'm going to describe what it is. Benign. It looks like a benign lump. Okay, fine. What about the thing behind its ear? Well, I felt it when we was in Newcastle, because we went up to Newcastle last week. Yeah. We're in an Uber, and I was like, what the fuck's that? And then it felt like a bubble behind my ear. Yeah. I was like, that's weird. And then got home. Did you think just that's weird? Did you think I've got cancer? Yeah. I didn't speak for about eight hours.
5:36Yeah, you didn't tell me about it. That sounds about right. You didn't say anything to me about it. I can't be spiralling, would I? Yeah. Yeah. That's smelling quick. That explains the whole trip. Yeah. And then I got home. I said, Fee, fucking drain this for me, please. And then... What? Poor you, Fee, this. They're like, I've got to go to the doctor's. I want to be relaxed for the doctor. Hold on, what do you mean drain this for me? I had a bath, got it all soft, and then went Fee, and I gave her like a span... Not a span. I said, Fee, just bang. It was like a pin. I said, hey, are. Pop that in, pop that in there.
6:14She popped in there, loads of shit came out. Is this, had you got any medical advice or anything? No, I asked chat, he said, don't drain it yourself. But I thought, who are you? You're just a computer. Why ask it then? But did chat say this is just a cyst, don't worry about it? Yeah, well, what else? It can't be anything else, can it? No, but I, probably not, probably not. Is it not just a spot? Yeah, but I think it became a cyst, yeah. What's the difference? I don't know, but I did Google it and some bad shit come up and I went, oh, I can't be dealing with that. I'd maybe go to the doctor rather than chat.
6:46It'll go in a bit. How long's it been? Three days. But yesterday more came out and now it feels all right again. Oh, there you go then. You should be a doctor. I think it was a spot. I think it was a spot. But I think we're good now. We're good. I just thought I'd share that with you. There you go. If you want more of this, we're doing a live show in Sheffield in a few weeks. No, but yeah, thanks for asking. you're just getting a hooch what is that what is that I just got a super hooch 8 % is he doing a brandy or are you doing a brandy I wish I thought this you guys I was worried you thought I wasn't going to bring the vibes today this is going to help me bring the vibes what's happening I have no idea is there something set up I have no idea Robbie I'm really struggling to push through but I'm thinking if if I drink this maybe i'll be able to push through what's going on do you want me that's i feel like i've got a system of brain this is the most um alcoholic thing i've ever seen i've done pocket quiche i thought you were gonna say pocket keys i did pocket quiche back in pirate studios this is my pocket super hooch i saw it in the shop I saw it was 8%.
8:05I thought, I like hooch. 8 % might help me get through this. Robbie, I'll be honest. He came up to me in Snetty, right? Yeah. Snetty's in services for anyone who's not familiar. And he went, have you seen these before? And I said, yeah. I said, they get you fucked up. They're super, they're 8%. And then that was it. And then I went to Subway and I didn't know he'd gone and got them. Brilliant. Yeah. Do you want mine? No, I've obviously not, no. I mean, I'm sure it's lovely, but I'm a professional. I do a job. Go on, mate. Get involved. I'm all right, thank you. I'm not good That's yours Definitely doing a brand deal There you go Jack He's not Are you doing a brand deal I fucking wish Promise me you're not No I had to pay for him £3.80 You know That was decent Oh no it wasn't It was£7.60 It was£3.42 I do like the hooch There we go Enjoy I've never tried a super hooch Cherry cola I've never had a super hooch This genuinely not It does sound like a brand deal now You legally have to disclose it No it's 100 % not I saw him in the petrol station And I'm really struggling And I was like To show you how much of this is not a brand deal I've had one before when I was fucked and I thought it was fucking horrible I'll be honest it's stronger than I expected I'm struggling already It's 8 % mate I think you should drink all three of them Yeah please And then there'll be another Because we're doing two episodes today There's going to be another one where you'll be inexplicably shitfaced Throughout it Get fucked up Do three of them during this episode But we won't mention beforehand I'd be able to guess which episode you're shitfaced I feel so sick already How about this, right?
9:31So throughout this episode, you can either have like breaks of like five minutes or you can just neck loads, right? But the listeners won't know when you're drinking it. So they'll just hear you get a little bit more pissed. I'll keep drinking and we'll see how I am. All right, nice one. This is genuinely the best thing you've ever done. Yeah, this is Alpha Stevie at his absolute peak. No, because I'm feeling like a little bitch on the inside. So this is my way of fighting. Yeah, great. Normally you can have a cold and you'll look down at me and Robbie going to the pub. Like, oh, are you having some beers?
9:58Why do you do that when you do my voice? What? Where is this? No. He's a kid. He's a kid. He's a kid. No. What are you fucking saying about me, you cunts? Fucking doing my voice like that, you prick. Where is that? It's only been recent. Yeah, you're a bit like... No, no. No. No, it's since you said it about my dad having a nasally voice. Well, you said in the car, I'm so nasally I've got a cold. I was like, there's no different to how you normally sound. Because you are a little bit like, right there. I'm quite like that. I think I sound like Mr. Bean. Yeah. Do you know what I mean? that is bad no but you're like that is bad do you know what I mean that is how you say it oh ah fucking me fucking me that is you oh I'm not talking anyway lads yeah you're looking at a champ you're looking at a champ we like to bring our medals there oh that is a good medal little medal did you run a marathon no I can't I'm too mentally weak um Central and South Norfolk League they give me the wrong one though because that's the tournament we did not play in so what does it say whose medal is that then well it says on the back Stephen Boddy primary league cup winners.
11:00Primary school? Did you win a cup of kids? Yeah. I didn't win a cup of kids. That would be your ideal prize. A cup against kids? No, no, no. This is... They literally give us the wrong one. We won the Shoe Traders Cup. Oh, he's just said it's a good medal. What if the Shoe Traders Cup is a shit medal? Imagine if it was just like a big steaming shit on a plate. Sort of crayon. I don't know whether I should say something to someone and go and get my actual one or whether i just keep this now get your actual one you want to you want to have the thing you deserve i would like to hear what your notes say about that game well i didn't get a goal or an assist so i didn't put anything down that selfish that is why why even put down i won the cup that's quite big in it yeah surely that the team won the cup for any listeners that don't know jack plays saturday league football and sunday league football and has notes on his phone where he writes down a little mini report of the game.
11:56Only if I get a goal or assist, yeah. So only selfishly. You've won a cup and because you didn't get the stat pad, no note. What do you want me to do, right? Put a note saying cup winners. That's a big enough thing. You didn't have to get the accolades. That's true, actually, yeah. I am selfish. Having the medal is an accolade. Yeah, well, yeah, true. I'll put it down. I'll put one in the cup. Yeah. Yeah, write it down there. As a team. While you're doing that Stevie can have some more super hooch So funny you're doing that Yeah I don't know why I didn't write that down But it was It was at like a proper Proper ground Proper stadium With like seats How proper Five pound tickets Turnstiles All my family came So Fiona brought All our family I brought my nan and grandad And my sister And my cousin Sonny And his three kids came And they all paid a fiver They all paid a fiver That was cute Fiona told me That there was a bit Oh and it was so cute as well So you know Tugs he got my granddad some merch from our football team so my granddad sat there in a hat and the scarf loving it that is cute Fiona was like talking to her family and granddad was sat in front of her and he kept grabbing her leg going like Fiona Fiona because he's deaf he can't hear when you're in conversation so he just interrupts you every time and she was going one second Terry and he was going feet feet and she was going yeah I'm just and then she was like alright I'll have to just go to him now and she was like what's up and he went pointed up at the sky and went buzzards worth it then that's good yeah so I was hoping that could become a thing for us whenever we see buzzards now buzzards I don't really know what a buzzard looks like no I wouldn't be able to tell you yeah how was the game overall it was good mate so I actually got it wrong and a few local lads have been DMing me giving me a little bit of stick because I put that we beat a team that won our league yeah they're actually second in our league I didn't realise ah bottlers yeah yeah yeah but we were complete underdogs like no chance like they beat us 4-0 last time we played them The day was quality, actually.
13:49We met at McDonald's at eight in the morning. Felt like a proper team, all in our tracksuit. I'm a proper manager sitting me at McDonald's.
13:59We got to live like footballers of the day, really. Got there two hours early, pitch inspection, all that stuff. I was just booting balls into the field below, so we lost a couple of... The forest behind, so we lost a few balls. But we were underdogs. We weren't expected to win. We went one-nil down pretty early, and then five minutes before halftime got an equaliser direct from a free kick and then halfway through second half scored the winner and then just sat 10 men behind the ball as you do Parked the bus Parked the bus but the other team were good lads as well because I have to say that because I usually come on here and slag the other teams off You slag your own team off as well Yeah, true, true RSX the man as a bish at the full time went over, he was crying That was quite cute That was quite cute Obviously he got the piss ripped out of him for it Yeah, he's been fine for it He had to get fired Yeah, he had to remortgage his house to pay them fines.
14:48But no, it was nice. That was nice. After went out celebration, went into the LAM, packed, right? FA Cup final. Oh, yeah. Absolutely packed. You couldn't move for men, right? And went to the toilet and some... What? What does that mean? You couldn't move for men. Do you normally move for men? No, you couldn't move. Because of the number of men. It's weird that you said men rather than people. But is that a phrase? I've never heard that in my life. No one says you couldn't move for men. That's the first thing that's ever been said. What was it meant to mean? You couldn't move for the crowds. As in you couldn't get through all the people.
15:29You could just stop the sentence, it was so busy. I couldn't move. Yeah, but I couldn't move. For why, Jack? Men. Who's going for why, Jack? There were some women there, but it was mainly men. Okay. You could push the women out of the way, couldn't you? you could move for women yeah when we got in there we had our cup there and uh this old boy came over and asked why we had a cup and we told him we'd won the won the cup and uh you see we can't let we got the cup but no he he went in he came back with a four pint pitcher for us and put on the table there you go and you went as 15 of us mate yeah oh no but anyway i went to the toilet right and this i promise you this actually this genuinely happened there was one urinal free but there was about five blokes there right and the middle one was free and i was like oh no i'm not i just can't i don't want to go there because i've got dean willie right famous dean willie tiny and then um and then uh there was there was i was waiting for the cubicle and then this guy went do you want that one mate and i went nah like that and then And I went, I've got tiny willy.
16:36You didn't tell him. I did, right? I went, I've got a tiny willy, right? This guy. How much did you drink at this point? Two pints. I'd only just got there. Lad. Why are you telling him? I went, nah, mate. I've got a tiny willy. I can't be doing that. And this other guy who was at the cubicle, I wasn't even talking to. He went, you think yours is small? Look at this. Turn around and show me. Had a little button, willy. Oh. You could move for cock. You wouldn't have to. But I actually didn't know what to say because I'm happy self-deprecating. Yeah, you can't go, that is small. But I just went, that's all right.
17:11He must have then looked at you and thought, fucking hell, Eddie, that's not. If he thinks that's all right. But if you are listening, that is small. That was small. And it did make me feel like I had a bit of a swagger when I left that toilet. Yeah. Do you know what I mean? I've not got the smallest cock in Norwich. Yeah. And then the final thing, last night, went to bed, had a run-in with a cockchafer. With what? She's got a name. I was in bed at about midnight and then a cockchafer came in. I'm so confused what's happening. Frame this, cockchafer. What's happening? Do you know what a cockchafer is?
17:56No, is it bird? No, beetle. What? I'm laying there in bed watching Josh Peters have a new documentary out, so I was watching that and Fee was on our laptop and all of a sudden I thought it was a bird I thought it was a robin red breast but a little beetle very specific as a buzzard thank you for using the robin's full name a beetle flew in massive size of a tennis ball right poof like that hitting about the room I was like what the fuck's going on here orange as well right yeah hence the red breast it banged into the light behind my TV I've got these LED the colour changing lights, banged into it, knocked itself out, fell on the floor.
18:35I freaked out. I was going, pulled the duvet over me like that. So manly. He got out of bed, like grabbed it in her hands. She was like, that's weighty that. Threw it out, had a little look, see what it looked like. Threw it out the window, asked chat what it was, turns out Cockchafer. Cockchafer's a great name. Yeah, literally, that's how it's pronounced as well. So yeah, I'm Redraw, but that happened. You done much? Yeah, loads actually. Yeah, have you done any singing lessons? Yeah, I've been... So basically, yeah, I've been doing my singing. Right, I said at the start of the year, people don't know, I was going to try and learn to sing this year.
19:10And I signed up for some online singing thing. I've struggled a little. I've not done it as much as I thought it would be because it turns out it's like... It's quite hard to sing. Like, you have to sing... You can't just sing at any time. What do you mean? If I wake up early in the morning, I can't just sing. I wake up everywhere in the house. No, no, I wake up my wife. Do you have to do, like, vocal warm-ups? Well, this is the other thing. I don't know because it talks about warm, this is good for warm, but it never tells me what to do to warm up. I don't think the course is very good. Right.
19:39Do a lingo, innit? Do a sing-go. 30 Day Singer. Oh, okay. I don't think it's very good. So I think what I'll do... It's been well over 30 days, though. It's been 94. It was worrying more than that. Yeah, probably. I've completed my 30 days. I'm on a future follow-up course of it. Did you do it every day for 30 days? I did it every day for a bit and then I sort of got a little bit less. I probably did it the last lesson two days ago the last time I did this I'm still doing it but just less regularly because I've become a little bit disillusioned with the coach so what I think I need to do I can't read it now because I've got a bit of a sore throat I will in an episode soon I will do an update okay I'll sing yeah we've got to do the control song turns out it's quite a hard song to sing yeah I thought that at the time yeah didn't really mad choice yeah yeah but you can't just go do something really simple there's no yeah but there's like an in-between isn't there yeah there's an in-between doing Jason Mraz or Chapel Road yeah Well, yeah, yeah.
20:32But I didn't do that. I just... I rate it. Do you find that you... Because I have one. Do you find that you have a song that you think you just fucking nail it any time? I wish it was. Not really. I was singing it the other day. I was watching the darts on the sofa at home and I belted out this song out of nowhere and I was like, that was a bit good. So then I just started singing it on repeat. What is it? Oh, he's going to do it. I'm not actually going to do it. But... So obviously... You are doing it. Yeah, but like I was fucking going. No, go on, give it. She's out of my league. And I was just, I went for it big time.
21:03But that's my song. You know that song? No. McFly. You don't know McFly, obviously. Maybe, but not that much.
21:12So, yes, that's where we are with the singing. Yeah. In other news, I have been doing a video. I've been doing a video where I try to find Europe's cheapest pint. It should be out now. I went to Europe to a few places that I'd done some research on that seemed like things. First of all, while I was at the cheapest place in the EU, Bulgaria, because basically I wanted to get a pint that was cheaper than the Wetherspoons in Batley that I found in last year in Yorkshire. I got a 99 pence pint. Was it a shit pint as well? It was Worthington's Creamfow. It was perfectly fine. That's cheaper than the Super Hooch from Snatterton.
21:44Yeah. Turns out, even with going anywhere in Europe, it's quite hard to find a drink for less than 99 pence. Yeah. And so eventually I went to Moldova, which is the poorest country in Europe in terms of purchasing power. but also apparently has like the cheapest alcohol was cheap but then i found i still wasn't getting close to it i'm not gonna tell you whether i did do manage it or not because it's quite good finish the video but i thought what i need to do i need to get out of the capital because if you're in london yeah it's prices hike prices hike you could want to go to bradford i want to go to bradford or mordova yeah or something like that i mean no no shade i'm bradford yeah so i'm shade of bradford not alone um so i have to get out there so i thought where can i go so i went to not just normal town have you ever heard of transnistria no yeah i feel like you knew the answer to that did they used to be nistria until they changed gender good very good i was trying to work out a good joke for that couldn't do it you've done that very well okay um respectful as well yeah yeah all the way when i was thinking that won't come across well yeah don't want that to be my attention very good well done a little bit of feedback in the workplace um so transnistria is a breakaway country in moldova that no it's but it wants to be independent it's got its own border its own currency no country in the world recognizes it they speak russian there they want to join i think they've tried to join russian russia's gun going no we're not touching this um so and the only downside of it so i thought i could go there i was driving with my brother um the only downside of it is like the uk foreign office advises against all travel there oh that's quite a big downside yeah no it is because i always listen to that so i'm not i would suggest anyone watching to do your own research on that the reason being um it's five miles from the ukraine border where i was going to in trustable which i think is the capital of Transnistria I think um and it's like 50 miles from Odessa where there's quite a lot of war stuff going on so you're quite close to all that and it's the risk of the war spilling over into Transnistria right did you think a pint was worth that well my thinking was if it's not happened in four years and now the front line seems to have stalled quite a bit yeah and if I'd check before I go and I go for three hours I'd be pretty unlucky yeah but you've still got to be careful because like your travel you won't your travel insurance won't be valid if you're good if you go against foreign office advice oh right so it's something to take seriously um but yeah i went to this place mad place like it's like it's like a sort of soviet theme park like like it's everything's like cccp or uh ussr and all this stuff all these these things it looks like the eight like the 80s before soviet were you guys like the only tourists there people do go i don't think many i didn't see anyone else who seemed not to be um will see he's ever been there yeah i'm sure yeah yeah um but yeah but it's a weird it's a weird place but they got their money go on i brought some money back transnistrian money this is transition money so first of all this is moldovan money so normal moldova and this moldova so it's like a green normal note looks a bit like a dollar got a very sort of like chiseled guy with a mustache and a crown on it.
25:19Money is weird, isn't it? Here's some Transnistrian cash. Oh, that looks more like a dollar than the original one, I'd say. Are you saying that the Moldova you're picking is your favourite? Yeah. Is it Trans what? Transnistria is the area, but Taraspo was where I went. Great for Man United back in the day, weren't they? Well, Taraspo's got a football team. Has it? Yeah, like, because I knew I'd recognise the name. What, Transaport? I've seen that. Taraspo, I can't remember what they're called. They're Turkish, aren't they? Yeah. Yeah. They've got a team, they've got like a team in there. So they...
25:52Which one of those blokes would you most rather have a night out with? The bloke on the Moldovan one or the bloke on the trans... Oh, easily Moldovan one. Yeah, you're getting VIP tables. He's got like a hat, he's got like a crown. Yeah, he's got a table back, didn't he? Yeah. Phil's sorted him a table. Yeah. So, yeah, he says that what you think is the peak of what a king can get at a table with the murderers. Is that because you get one? You think you're the king? I used to, yeah. I've been in a while. There you go to me. But yes, it'd be like a wild, wild place. Very cheap. Yeah. Like that.
26:24What are the birds like? I mean, honestly, not awful.
26:34I'm just going to embrace these kind of questions from now on. Yeah, just do it. I mean, I'm giving you my honest. I'll ask any honest questions about Transistria, I will. Okay. You're going laddy? I'm not going laddy. And I don't like the phrase birds. but it was a bit of me that thought I wonder what the women there look like and I just wanted to embrace it so you just took it that step further you could have said what are the women like if I went what do the women look like that sounds a little bit creepy okay well let's ask would you move for women there no I'm married no but if you were single could you have a good time there yeah I think you probably could yeah right okay did you have a good time there I had a nice time in the three hours I was there but not with any women with your brother with my brother but not like the way it would happen if it was with me i could tell you um did you know that psoriatic arthritis may progress over time and could cause permanent joint damage if left untreated

29:19Shop now at palmolive.com. No, but yeah, everyone very nice there. It felt very safe. Yeah. I didn't feel dangerous at all in that sort of thing, but we were... What was they knocking about in? not the women like everyone mainly the women just like normal clothes but without a slight sort of Eastern European sort of vibe I imagine them in big sort of like fur coats no it's a similar temperature to here so not really maybe in the winter they do I don't know how much was the pint? well I'm not going to tell you you have to watch the video to find out the actual thing but I will say when I first got over at the pub I was thinking this is going to be so good and we're going to beat the 99p one and it was one pound and two pence i was like can't even get a cheap pint in the batteries you have to go to a country that doesn't even exist and you can't even get a cheaper pint but yeah it was a mad place it's i mean maybe wait till the war's over and that but well worth checking out so they're a country but they're not officially recognized as a country yeah so they they claim to be their own thing they're part of moldova yeah officially but no no other country you know some places like will recognise like whether it's these countries like Kosovo or whatever like that that other countries won't well this everyone's gone nah right but they don't have their own language they speak Russian but whereas the rest of Moldova speak Romanian they do speak so basically after the as I believe and historians will probably correct me I think when the Soviet Union collapsed Moldova's breaking away to its own country and then these guys were like oh we don't speak the same language we want to be our own country a little mini war yeah And then they just sort of settled into this situation.
30:57And they've got a footy team in that. And they've got a footy team, yeah. Any good as a football team? I think they're all right in terms of Moldovan football. Right. But we went past the stadium. But you can get a bus. So we just got like a local bus, like a little mini bus sort of thing for a couple of hours. And you stop off at the border and you go in and they check your passport and they give you like a visit. Did they ask what you were doing there? They didn't. I would have just said tourism. They would have said I'm making a YouTube video to try and get the cheapest part. I would have gone down well.

31:22But they do that and they say, how long are you staying for? I said, just for the day. I said, yeah. So they said, you can stay for... So they gave me a visa for 12 hours. They'll get papers saying you can stay for 12 hours and that. What happens if you stay for 13 and you get shot? I don't know, but I didn't really want to risk it. I thought I'd just go. So I was there. Well, I got shot. I'd watched it. It's not a good video. I'd watched it. I was like, has an history gone wrong and got shot? There's not one person out there who's not clicking on it. Yeah. I remember when Becky and I, before I went to Mexico, she was considering coming for it like that and we were discussing what would happen if she got beheaded by a cartel whether we'd be able to put it she said I'd be absolutely fine to use a thumbnail holding her head equality just blur it in the video yeah perfect that's the other place I've been to that's not there's more exciting than a Transnistria I went around to Becky and Neve and that's flat did you?
32:10yeah that's my Transnistria yeah good he's on a super yeah I'm all for it no one's safe now can I before when you're going to open the next super hooch Can I taste it before you do? Because I want to get your disease. I'd like to taste the sleeper hooch. He's in. Don't want to drink? No. You're having a whole can. I'm not having a whole can of sleep. Go on, open it. Because I've almost finished this one anyway. A legend in town. I am. There's not much left. Yeah, you've got about a fifth of that left. Oh, it smells interesting. I like cola. Can I smell it? Yeah. That one's cherry cola. That smells amazing.
32:45It smells like it's got a little bit of body in it. What is in it? Because it's strong. that's actually lovely is it go on Robbie you can have it who's doing the brown deal now because this one isn't nice put this here go on open it Jack Jack go on Jack's frigid maybe I'll give this one back to Stevie and have one more sip before I do we were all about to have fun for the next episode I've realised I've never tried that one Go on I've just tried the raspberry one This is not a brand deal guys It really isn't It's good isn't it It is good You made me get two of these It's a tiny tiny little bit medicinal But it is good Try that one No we can't drink it No no I will not No no no no I don't want it I'm not going to drink it This is definitely not a brand deal It feels 100 % not Because that blue one shit Imagine if you're the marketing guy for Hootsh You don't have your dick out.
33:51I 100 % would do a brand new with Hooch, though. Oh, I love normal Hooch. The lemon one. Yeah, I love normal. I just drink Hooch so much. Why are we all trying to get... I don't think I love Hooch more. I've got more of a... I've probably got more of a sort of link to Hooch, because when I'm in the 90s, I used to drink it quite a lot, really. Waterfront loved Southern Hooch. Yeah, just tastes like lemonade, doesn't it? So good. This episode is brought to you by Disclosure Day. Now, for those of you that don't know, Steven Spielberg has got a brand new film out. Yes, the goat himself. And it's called Disclosure Day.
34:25Oh, I love Spielberg. Love that man. Growing up, his films were such a huge part of my childhood. I'm talking Jaws. Weird to watch as a kid. Loved it. Jurassic Park. Incredible. E.T. What a movie. I love how his films combine curiosity with fear. So you don't really often see the shark in Jaws, but you feel it. It's so tense. That's exactly why Jaws is in my top Spielberg films. I'm going Jaws and Jurassic Park. Absolute classic. Okay, okay. I'm going The Terminal, where Tom Hanks has to live in an airport for a year. And I'm going Catch Me If You Can, another Tom Hanks classic. And now, of course, Spielberg is back with his favourite genre of sci-fi with Disclosure Day, a film that asks, what would we do if we found out we weren't alone?
35:13I'm excited to see how he handles that, Stevie. And let me tell you who's in the film. We've got Emily Blunt, Josh O 'Connor, Colin Firth and Coleman Domingo. It's a completely original story as well. Spielberg, at his best, has to be seen on the big screen. Disclosure Day is in cinemas Wednesday, June the 10th. So book your tickets now. Have you been to any Soviet Union countries? No. Should I have? No, I'm just wondering what the fuck you've been up to other than coffee. I've been ill. I've barely left the house. I'd made up Cake Day yesterday. Yeah. That was a thing. What's the thing on Animal Crossing?
35:47What? Cake Day. I didn't make it up then, did I? What's the point? That's on Reddit. Cake Day's on Reddit. What's Cake Day? It's your anniversary. Yeah, you get a little cake next to your name. Oh, well, basically, yesterday I was laying down and Isaac came and laid next to me and he was like, I really like birthday cake flavoured things. Right. And I was just in a mood, so I just went, let's just go get one. You were in a mood. Like in the mood to be like, oh, let's just go. I was fuming, so I went, let's go get a cake. I was like, throw your face in it. I was in the kind of mood to just be like, fuck it, let's just go.
36:15So we just left the house and went and bought a birthday cake. I bought candles. Isaac said we had to buy party hats. So we went home. I lit up all these candles on this big cake and took it through and was going, happy cake day. Then we had a slice of cake. Then I drove that cake around my mum's house and gave them some cake. That does sound like you're just spreading your illness between your family. Yeah. Sorry, mum. Everyone have a bit of flu. I didn't touch the cake you know that Ariane did it so you just said you did it so why are you taking the credit well I she stayed at home though I did all the driving and the buying right you're just sprain disease you're like that you know that patient that gave everyone AIDS like that you know the the air steward or something the Canadian air steward I think so I have no idea alright you're him isn't there a thing going on recently on a boat everyone's got a rap by the time they listened to this that was four months ago yeah yeah Hantavirus.
37:08Yeah. Really? Is that bad? I've not looked into it. Have you got that? Are you the rat boy? No, he's not. Hantavirus, they've isolated, I think. It's fine. Sure? Yeah. I wouldn't have got on the boat, but it's fine now. Play on. Because I heard that everyone was on this boat, and then the captain came out and said, everything's fine, don't need to worry. And then people just started dying. Because the captain said that? No, no, no. I've seen the video. He goes, don't worry, it's non-threatening. And non-contagious. And then suddenly people were just dropping down dead with rat flu. What, in the video?
37:38Not in the video, you don't. I was not saying you went, you said I've got proof I've seen the video. I think I'm pissed from Super H. It's so strong. It's really strong. That is it in my head. You've got to do all three. Yeah, you have to. I'm not feeling good after one. Before we sing the jingle, tell us more about this flat. Yeah, oh, but Becky's, yeah. So I went round. Niamh wasn't there. Oh, God. Message Niamh. Yeah. Say, are you around? I'm popping around today because I raised you with Becky. So I'm popping around today. Are you in? She'd have a quite long voice note about how angry she was and um about what that wasn't good that i'd picked a team when she wasn't there oh right okay um i bought them a pop plant yeah that's what you do when someone gets a house yeah you bought me a salt and pepper shaker that says coke and heroin on it yeah well you're different it was all poplar for you um the videos i've got of jack's micropenis would uh say otherwise No, so I put Niamh in charge of pot plant because Niamh's like the grown-up.
38:39So I thought, went round. And bear in mind, they've only had the pot plant for three weeks or something. This pot plant's fucked, mate. Pot plant dead? No, not dead. It's like, it's not in a good way. It looks like it's been on my salt and pepper shake. It looks like it's been on that quite a bit. First of all, it's an indoor pot plant. It's outside on their balcony. It's got the edges of the leaves have all gone. And I was like, And I said to Becky and I said, what the fuck's happened to pot plant? And they said, we were telling Niamh this. She said, Niamh's not done any research on pot plant.
39:14Niamh has fucked up the pot plant. And then I messaged her about this. Didn't take it well, the criticism. What, what'd she say? It was just a bit like, she got a bit defensive, if I'm honest. Niamh, if you're listening, you did get defensive. And then she was saying, I'll soak it in water. No, you're watering it too much. You're over watering the pot plant. You need to look up the instructions of the pop plant. There's a thing on it. You can scan it. QR code. Tell you about the pop plant. You weren't bothered watching Bolton probably in the playoffs. Well, probably, yeah. But I mean, it's... So, yeah.
39:41So, all I'll say is, Niamh is not the one to be in charge of the pop plant. I'm taking her off the pop plant. Right. Who's on it now, then? I think Lizzie. Okay. That seems quite sensible out of them. Did you bring it inside? Yeah, I brought it inside, yeah. Having that. But, yeah. Nice flat. Yeah. What did you get around there for? Just to see him? I was in London. Bev and I were staying down the night before and then I was meeting up with my brother later on to go to some talk event thing that he was going to. So I just had a few hours to kill while Bev had gone off to look at the Tracy Emin exhibition and I went to hang out with some idiots.
40:19Fair enough. Essentially, yeah. Fair enough, right. Well, I guess that's us all caught up, baby. You're all super hooched up. I like it. Now, we were on the way up today. we thought right let's pick an idea that the listeners have suggested um and we found a listener idea from reddit my favorite place the spiritual home of happy hour uh and we the idea was basically that the the post read something along the lines of the guys have changed so much over the years of doing happy hour i want to know if they've ever changed their mind on things which i thought was quite an interesting concept i will say we put it in the group chat said robbie you're already here we were like think of some things you change your mind on Stevie and I were hammering away our ideas and then we realised that the idea suggestion was four years ago okay yeah Lucy016 who I imagine is Lucy020 now good very good suggested this and we're going to do it so I've had a little think and I know you boys have and we're just going to riff off of each other's riff off of each other I like that you're explaining how to do the Yeah, what we're going to do is someone's going to speak and then other people are going to react to what they've said by saying things themselves.
41:36Kind of like in a conversational style. They've said episode idea, things we've changed our minds about. This Lucy probably doesn't listen to anyone. How did you find this? Did you just type in episode idea to Reddit? On the Reddit, yeah. Think it would be interesting to hear the opinions slash views that the boys have changed their minds about, whether it's funny, small opinions or serious life choices, ideas they now see differently. reckon it would be interesting to see the difference in opinions between someone in their 40s versus lads in their 20s we're no longer in our 20s he's almost 50 imagine if Lucy has then she's now an adult maybe she was a teenager at the time she's now an adult has recently been appointed the marketing director of Hooch what a day she's having or maybe it's got so meta that she's changed her mind and now no longer Lucy if you are out there Do let us know.
42:27Get in touch on the Reddit. If she's the marketing director for Hooch in Transnistria. Oh, cool. Right, that's a world I want to live in. Who wants to kick on? You kick us off then, little sick Hooch boy. So something I've changed. The Marge thing. I'm not well. Oh, I'm going to go in with something I've slagged off a lot on this podcast. London. I've changed my mind on London. No, you haven't. No way. i've changed my mind on london thanks to jack and i filmed a jack and stevie video which was good versus bad and the whole concept was that one of us we have to flip a coin and whoever gets the coin flip gets to go and do the good thing in london the other one has to go and do the bad thing so one of us would get the worst rated cafe for lunch and then one of us would get like a five star hotel but the first flip of the day was for where we had to go and we got a bad flip which meant we had to do the video in London.
43:23We picked Liverpool as good, London as bad. But that whole day we did multiple different things. I had to go to Madame Tussauds on my own. So little things like that I don't really class that as London but I had such a good day that day and I've realised it's not London I have the problem with it's the miserable cunts. You hate foreigners? No. You always say that? No. No. No. No, that's one of the things he changes his opinion. Oh right, he likes them now. If anything it's more the locals they're just miserable yeah it's the locals but the place if you come I'd hate to live here I would absolutely hate to live in London sounds like you hate it no but it's not it does nothing you've said has made you think you've changed your mind I hate the locals and the place I hate the people and the place I'd kill myself if I'd live here no because I don't hate the place there's so much to do here and you'd always find something to do if you could just if everyone was just happier it would be such a good place to be I didn't find when I lived here for quite a long time that everyone was unhappy.
44:24I think you might just be, it might just be the people that are in Madame Tussauds. No, people in Madame Tussauds happy. Were they? Because they wanted to be, they've chose, they didn't get the bad coin flip and had to be there. Yeah. They wanted to be in there. They got the bad coin flip of life. Not a Madame Tussauds brand deal. Well, I just think that London, I think driving in London is fucking horrific, isn't it? Yeah. It's terrible. And people, it does seem that the other drivers are cunts in London. Yeah, but that's because they're used to having no choice but to do that. It's cunt or be cunted, isn't it?
44:56They have to become the cunt, otherwise they get cunted on. Yeah. Right? But you can't move for cunts. Cyclists, no. Yeah, cyclists, cunts. They'll cut you up and they'll go over a red. Yeah. And then they'll get hit and wonder why they're hit. Red. Cyclists in Norwich, lovely. Legend. People in Norwich let you out, sort of do you handy when you go past. Like, honestly, it's that different. It feels that different. Yeah. The prices of London are mental. Yeah. What was it? £10.50 I paid for like a Budweiser. But people will be earning more money in London as well, probably, on average. Yeah, that's true.
45:30But can you justify£10.50 for a pint of Budweiser? I think that's an outlier, but yes, it is very expensive. Right. Yes. Yeah, okay. One of the good things about London, the pubs. So old school. I spent a week in Leicester Square recently, right? Which is not the best place in London, is it? It's a bit touristy, a bit. The prices are high. Like there's a pub just opposite Leicester Square, which I thought would be proper tourist trap. It was like going back to like the 90s, how I imagined pubs were in the 90s. They were playing like old school tunes. It was phenomenal. It was great. That made me like London.
46:01That's what I'm saying. You'll never struggle to find something to do here, albeit maybe expensive, but like you can also just find like a random little cafe that probably does some amazing food. And like you never, like sometimes when you're in like even Norwich, we're so used to being there, obviously it's struggled to find something new to do. Yeah. But no matter how long you stay in London, I think you'll always find something new. There's always things. I used to go, when I was in my 20s, I'd be going to gigs like three times a week. There's bands that will never go anywhere else in the country, the bands from America that come over.
46:31I've seen huge bands in tiny little venues and stuff like that. I saw Arcade Fire in this tiny little hall, a couple hundred people saw. Kanye West in a church, I think. Old Kanye. Not recently. Yeah, last week. in an alley yeah so so yeah you get to see some great things and like the theatre and stuff like that other things like in Norwich we've got good theatres in Norwich you'll see things that are touring around whereas you don't see as many of those little independent-y things yeah I've started a little theatre club have you? yeah you're very welcome to join if you want to come what does that mean?
47:10it's it's like a group of us we'll go to see like a get a play once a month yep So we've done one so far. I went to see my friend Kelly's play. Do you rate them? No, we just go along. But one was, we went, so it was the first one was, it was me, Becky, you know, Henry Calvert? Yeah. And Lizzie was there. And weirdly, Tim Lovejoy was there as well. It was a strange group. Henry and Tim have now become friends, weirdly. Oh, right. Just move on. So that happened. And then Kelly was in the play and then she was chatting to us afterwards and was like, that sounds really good, the theatre club. Can I join?
47:44And we went, yeah. So she's now in the theatre club. So now we're going to go and pick up one actor or one person from each theatre club. Here's how we go. So the next one we're going to see is the comedian Rosie Holt. We're going to see her. She's got a play called Churchill's Urinal that she wrote. Would you ever go and see the Gareth Southgate one? I've seen it. It's brilliant. Yeah, you have actually. Yeah. Have you seen it? No, I got an email inviting me to go see it. Oh, go. I was out of the country. It's so good. Yeah. Yeah. I don't really... I don't know what it is about me, but when I go to the theatre or the cinema, I always, always desperately want to fall asleep.
48:22Yeah. I mean, there's good and bad stuff. You might just be getting to the wrong theatre. No, no, I've seen stuff I've been loving, but I'm warm and cosy, and I just want to sleep, and there's music. You might be tired. Yeah, when we get on a matinees, it's the afternoon. Yeah, that's a good point. Good point. Best one I've ever seen, Squall of Rock. That was good. I loved that. I almost fell asleep. That's simple, aren't you? I'm happy. Yeah, I've seen Curious Case of the Dog in the Nighttime. Yeah. What's that? It's a play, isn't it? Curious Case of the Dog in the Nighttime. Yeah, it is good.
48:51Did you sleep? Yeah, I missed the ending, but I thought it was brilliant. It's weird that you brought that up as your number one, Stevie, because genuinely we haven't conferred on these, and my number one is, used to think Norwich was shit, and that I wanted to move to London. Now I really do not enjoy London at all, and think that Norwich is one of, if not the greatest city in the UK. I agree with that. And I've leaned to every city in England. You actually have, yeah. But we went to Newcastle last week, didn't we? Do you not think that walking around these cool sort of like uni cities like Newcastle, Bristol, Brighton, Norwich, I don't know, it feels more of a community than London?
49:28Yeah, obviously I adore Bristol, so that's a good example for it. But I've had this conversation with Robbie before because he does his good versus, not your good versus, you do your, is it good or rubbish? Yep. Series. The weather makes such a difference. We've been to Newcastle twice on tour. Yeah. And then this is the third time I've been to Newcastle. The weather we got was the weirdest weather I think I've ever experienced. Yeah. It would one hour piss down, hail. Next hour, fine. Then it would go like that all day. But it would be really sunny. This was last Tuesday. Yeah, because I had a day like that in Bulgaria.
50:01Right. And it was similar, yeah. It was so strange. It was like hail that hurt. like there were thick hailstones. Yeah, it was Tuesday actually, this happened a little bit. Yeah, painful and then suddenly sunny and bright and like you could see such a difference. You'd be in the same area looking at the same buildings and the sun comes out and you're like, that is gorgeous. But as soon as that hail's hitting, you're going, oh, I don't want to be there. Yeah, so it does affect the mood, Matt. Have you ever been to Aberdeen? Aberdeen's got all these like granite buildings and in the sun it sparkles and it looks like this stunning city and then as soon as it gets cloudy, it's like, oh, I want to get out.
50:33I think that's maybe one of the problems with London is it's quite a grey city anyway. Yeah. So if you don't catch it in the right weather, you are going to think more negatively of it. Is it grey? No, it can be. Big grey skyscrapers all in the centre, isn't it? It can be, yeah. There's not a lot of greenery. Canary Wharf. There's quite a lot of greenery. Only if you go to the right areas. There's enormous parks. Yeah. More than most cities in the world. The parks are incredible. Yeah, but if you're coming into London, you're very rarely just going, I'm just going to go to Hyde Park or Victoria.
51:02Well, you're not just going to... Weather and seasons make a massive difference, I think. If you go to, like, I don't know, if you go to, like, Westminster and, like, you've got Big Ben and the bridge and that, like, if you go and it's pissing down with rain, yeah, it looks grey and... If you go and it's, like, snowing or whatever and it's Christmas time and Oxford Street's got the lights up, there is a magic to that. Yeah, great Yarmouth can be nice in the sun. Can it? Too far, yeah. Yeah. Sorry. I will stop you there. I'm quite like Yarmouth. It is a shithole, though, isn't it? I go to Yarmouth on Wednesday.
51:31Are you? you went last week didn't you yeah I went yama for my own so I think in the right weather I go with Ellis' fiance is Ellis there always something it's a video that's an excuse it's my job you can pick anyone and they're always young women take Ellis I was with Matt Richardson the other way that's only so you can get to his wife what now she's in her 30s playing the long game. Have you asked Ellis? Do you know what? I genuinely feel bad about asking Ellis to do stuff because he's so busy all the time. Right. And he's like... So you went, don't worry. Your man's out of the country. You come with me.
52:16Yeah. He's out of the country. Now, we're going to see it. We're going to the UK's best cider pub. In Yarmouth? Yeah. Right. One of the four, one of the finalists, the last four of the best pubs in the country is in Yarmouth. I've been there before by chance. Is it on the seafront? No. Okay. Obviously not. End of my questions. So the thing you've changed your mind about is that Norwich is actually class. Norwich is, I think, the best at any given. Oh, it's amazing. Yeah. Robbie, what have you changed your mind on, mate? Great question. Not to tell you why Norwich thought that consistently from...
52:46Yeah, you have, to be fair. What were your first opinions when sort of like Churchill took over and that? What were you thinking? I was quite old. I can't remember.
52:57Okay. I have changed my opinion on American sports and how they're run I used to think all these like when they're like their drafts and the way they try and it's all like they try to make it all really fair and all that and I used to think I was just such bollocks do you know what I mean like that but as my enjoyment of football has decreased yeah and all that I have sort of looked to think do you know what everything they are doing is to make it better for the fans okay whereas watching football feels a bit like I'm in some abusive relationship where they're trying to make me unhappy. Whereas like with baseball, obviously I watch quite a lot.
53:38That's, it's all so focused. Everything they do in it is just a focus on the fans sort of thing. And I think I've changed that opinion where before I used to look at it and just think, this is sort of just commercial. Bit too clean? Yeah. But like, just like overly like pure businessy sort of thing. whereas now I'd sort of say yes obviously they are there as a business yeah but I think football is more that way than I was when I went to the end to watch the NFL a few years ago in Dallas I was struck by the whole tailgating stuff yeah the cookouts that they have before the game in the sense of community that the fans have you had we were there as Dallas Cowboy fans in quotations but it was a massive playoff game against the Packers and we were just walking past like the Packers fans, the cheeseheads they call them, and they were like, do you want a hot dog?
54:29And they could see us in our jerseys and still just inviting us over to their car to eat. I think football fans would hate that though, like English football fans. Yes, but one thing about English football fans is that they're cunts. Yeah. A lot of English football fans would love that. They wouldn't be willing to admit it on the day. Because like most English football fans, like Chelsea fans, will be at the pub with their mate who's a Spurs fan. Oh, yeah. They don't care. All week, but then the second the game's on, they suddenly think all Spurs fans are nob. So it's such a strange kind of...

And I do get if they're jumping up and down and being cunts about it, right?
56:14Then what are you doing? Going your own end sort of thing? but if there's just like like if I'm at a football game right and I see someone and I'm like oh I know that person they support whatever team I don't care do you know what I mean why do people care that much yeah and I think America does that really well yeah and it's yeah and it's like at Toronto they have like loony dog nights where like a loony a loony a loony's a loony's what they call um one dollar one Canadian dollar so that's what like 50p yeah and they'll have hot dogs for 50p wow imagine how much they are in trans yeah yeah they would have been good if you remember yeah um but then they will try and beat the record for how many to do and they broke it early this season they've got over like 90 000 hot dogs that's over like that's about two per person that's pretty good sold that in one night yeah loony dogs yeah wow and also they're going to be bottom tier sausages but they're the best oh yeah and you can buy you can buy like an 11 dog 11 hot dog at the same place yeah i'll have five loony dogs please that's good and you get that and also like the little giveaways they'll have for the first 50 000 people get a bobblehead and they're like ernie clement is a popular player with the team yeah and they're like ernie clement hockey jerseys and stuff like that they were giving away recently that's cool it's just brilliant it seems like it's a lot more for the fans yeah whereas ultimately your football team doesn't care about you they try and squeeze every penny they can out of you the fact that the new england football shirts coming up to the world cup are 120 quid fuck you that is insane fuck you no wonder people are going on dh gate and buying them yeah i mean you will they were the toronto ones are probably the same a lot of that's expensive as well sort of thing i just went to japan i watched fc tokyo and i got the jet of the official jersey from the club shop for like 30 quid right like so it's not always like no like yeah when i got um my uh kaiser chiefs Jersey, that was a similar surprise.
58:09Yeah. They say over here, don't they, that football is a game created by the poor but stolen by the rich. And it very much does feel like that. I remember when we had an interview with Ian, I think we might have said this on here before, we had Ian Holloway on Soccer Air. We did an interview. It was this thing called Things I Know About Football. And it was like statements. And it could be like, I know David Beckham's the best running field in the world. It could be whatever you want it to be. And he said this story, I'll never forget. He said, I know football's the most amazing thing in the world.
58:36It can bring people together. It's the most wonderful thing. And I'm so happy that it's been part of my life. He goes, but the people, it's just run by the worst people in the world. Yeah. And it's, and it is. It really is. So, so yeah. So my opinion on American sports has changed for the better. I think that's a good one. I agree. Some of the chants bit cringe, isn't they? Oh yeah. Oh, the atmosphere is better. Yeah. Yeah. The atmosphere is generally, there's more creativity from certainly American soccer fans English football fans have incredible chance. You have some shit ones like the Chelsea one to go like bum with a lump of celery or whatever Is that just American crowds in general though?
59:19Because like obviously I saw like all the Coachella stuff a couple of months ago. Any video I saw of that, I saw it and thought that is the last place I'd ever want to be It's a different vibe isn't it? It's a great atmosphere at Toronto Blue Jays is really good fun, but it's different. It's not the same. I guess you could argue, like, I've also seen, I've seen at, like, Reading and Leeds Festival where they're all fucking throwing bottles of piss over each other. Also gross. That's the other end of gross. There's good and bad in everything, isn't there? But, like, an English festival is just one of the best places to be.
59:52Yeah, yeah. Ignoring the people slitting open tents and stuff. But that's just a certain type of bellend. Other European festivals are great as well. Yeah, yeah, that's what I mean. But I think whenever I've seen videos of, like, Coachella, I just think that looks fucking good. Yeah, well, I went, didn't I? No one wants to be there other than Instagram people. You went to Coachella. I've been to Coachella, yeah. How was it? It was a festival. It was an influencer thing. And it felt like everyone was there just to take photos and to say they went. Right, okay. So when I went, and I don't think I'm misremembering this, but when I went, obviously you're not allowed to take your own alcohol in.
1:00:28Some festivals over here you are and some you're not. but you weren't allowed to drink your alcohol watching the axe so there was a pen at the back like a smoking area literally so we would go all the way back there and obviously being british we wanted to get pissed so we would just sit in this pen for like three hours feed don't even drink just sit there watching you get more and more habit and then and then we we would walk into the arena and just walk about and then just be sober within 45 minutes but i i think i remember But I was watching, I've told this on the pod years ago, but we was watching Eminem, right, in California, and he brought out Snoop Dogg and Dr.
1:01:06Dre and that. So it was unbelievable. And there was a group of, I think they're Americans, it could have been Canadian, but I'm assuming they're American. It went, California love. And they just went, no.
1:01:22What were they expecting? I don't know, I was like, this is one of the best. I haven't brought back T-Pack. shit yeah on the subject of those drinking areas I remember when Kitty was really young and you try and do loads of stuff at first before you just give up and so we took her to some like it was like a kids festival I don't mean music I mean there was like kids entertainers there was like Mr Tumble live on stage and we got there like 10 in the morning and there was like one little enclosure at the back like a bar at 10 in the morning and there were guys just sitting there drinking beers with their kids just sat on the floor like in this bar bit and I'm thinking why did you come mate?
1:02:06Imagine that all the other kids were out there having fun doing all this stuff and you'd have to sit on the floor in the bar I mean I don't know kids at the pub a bit but I'm not going to go to see like a kids festival and just get hammered in a tent in my home I mean that is bad I don't know I get what you're going for I don't know it did not look class Stevie should we have another one? I've got one that I kind of spoke about recently on the podcast. Okay, just rattle it off then. Just do another one then. But no, no, but like, but I want to go into more depth on it because it's something I 100 % changed my mind on.
1:02:40Yeah. I've written it down as fart humour is funny. Oh, I like your stance on this. So years ago, there was a friend of mine who would laugh at the, what I found at the time as the shittest form of comedy, not remotely, like you'd go and watch a film that's just slapstick, absolute crap but and i'd watch it thinking like and i'd describe my friend as oh he just likes fart he's an idiot is this chicken hit that you're talking yeah and i'd always think that but like as i've not been the live show that sounds and i'd always kind of i guess at the time i must have thought i was above that right and as like obviously as a podcast we are we lean into that quite a lot and we we do that stupid humor far here no no but like i'm not that's what i said I describe it as that.
1:03:27But what I am saying is like, why can't we just laugh at stupidity? Why can't we just laugh at anything? Why did I feel like I was better than a certain type of funny? Why did I think, oh, that's not good. I like this intellectual chat. Yeah, well, it's the kind of comedians that you grew up like. Are you saying that you're like too intellectual? You're on this fucking podcast? No, this is what I'm saying. This is something I changed my mind on, Robbie. Like the last few years of this. well this is like in like sick form up to like uni kind of times where i was like i'd love like i'd love bo burnham and stuff because i was like oh he's like he does the stupid humor but a lot of the time he does stuff that's a little bit down but did you still feel this when you started doing happy hour well maybe at the start but as we lent into you were going you were like what the fish is fucking awful i think at the start happy hour wasn't as silly as it is now but i love that that's what i mean i've grown up changed in that and i love leaning into the silly because i just don't care so much i think i wanted to be above it before but i never was i just wanted to be yeah so my my stance has changed in the sense that why can i not just enjoy and i don't care what if you want to laugh at farts cool yeah enjoy it you have fun i think that's a good point and i think i think we both grew up probably thinking that we were comedy snobs because we like oh we like bo burnham and stuff like that.
1:04:47Whereas like now, so like my favourite comedian is John Kearns, right? Yeah. So probably a comedian's comedian, right? Still probably a smart comedian, right? But I also really like watching clips of Harry Hill. Yeah. Do you know what I mean? I was watching some of his podcasts the other day. He did a song about there being a fox in his studio and then there's a big person come out dressed as a fox and I was like, comedy is obviously a mass perspective and I find all of it quite funny. But even John Kearns, he will do these quite smart jokes whilst wearing the most ridiculous teeth and stuff. Before, I would have probably looked down on stuff and just, but why did I think I was?
1:05:26I've never been above that. So now my thing is just cool. I like it. I laugh at stupid shit. When we do this, we've had phrases on here that people have like, they come in a wank and all shit like this, right? And it is a little bit silly. And I used to actually think, I'd watch the clips back and go, fucking hell what are we doing oh it's stupid however right last one laughing hosted by Jimmy Carr right one of the biggest comedy shows out at the moment right on prime some of the top comedy minds in the country you know when they get their wild card their joker and they have to go up and do a performance in front of the other comedians yeah some of them are literally up there like who's the Diane Morgan brilliant she's just doing farts yeah and the comedians are loving it and I thought maybe we're not so I don't know that's what I'm saying I've changed my mind we're the problem there and when I see comments going oh that's so immature it's like yeah yeah just enjoy like don't turn your nose up at this shit just let yourself enjoy shit yeah I was stopping myself from enjoying stuff because I thought I was better than it I'm not I'm so in there you're drinking super heaps yeah I'm smashed at 3pm on a Monday just drinking just so good I'm going to have to get a water that's a good one stevie that's a good one and and and i'm probably gonna go uh a little bit more serious here with this one but growing up i i similar to yours actually i used to think i was really above it right now i realize i'm not above it religion right okay so i i love that you thought you were above religion a little bit above one level up from god well in my head and still now Now, my stance is that I don't believe in any God or any religion.
1:07:09Yeah, which is fine. But I used to sort of like look down on people that were religious as if they're idiots, right? Yeah. And I still cannot comprehend how somebody can believe in a deity. That there's no proof of. Yeah, that there's no proof of. But what I can understand is why somebody would like to believe in it. Yeah. To give them the reassurance or that there's more to life than this. and I used to think that everybody that was religious must just be fucking stupid, right? And I think they're probably in the Venn diagram. There probably is a lot of stupid people that happen there. There's also a lot of stupid atheists.
1:07:51Yeah, of course, yeah. And like Fiona's dad's religious and he's also a very smart man. I so thought you were going to say he's also stupid. So I've kind of opened my eyes to it. I still have my beliefs, but I'm much more willing to hear someone tell me about theirs. Yeah. I think it's hard to really, you think faith is ridiculous, but then also I went to every Scotland home game for about 20 years and thought we were going to win. Yeah. Obviously you're going to qualify. Do you mean there's love? Yeah. Like these people, they go to church and they live by whoever their God is. And then I cried when Mark Noble retired.
1:08:30Do you know what I mean? who are you to judge yeah for like upton park was my church in a way yeah and and like unfrizzled bubbles was my hymn that's what it was like it'd be quite nice to believe in god like if you genuinely believed i think it'd be quite good like i'd like there to be a god i can get on board with yeah yeah i think faith is inherently a good thing like having faith in something that makes you believe in positive things can be a good thing religion obviously can lead down oh you've got your extremist in every in every sort of sort of um what am i trying to say like in every part of the world there's an extremist who ruins it for the rest of them but on the whole i think i guess religion can be a good thing most religious people are peaceful people yeah yeah my nan i was having a discussion with my nan maybe six months ago she's she's religious she's not religious but she believes in god she doesn't go to church she doesn't what do it well but she told me that she prays right and that was a shock to me and she said to me and we had a bit of a heated debate about it but she said to me that if ever i was like terminally ill like if when this cyst starts growing behind my ear right she said that um i'm gonna be what if if the shit hits the fan i will pray she said you will pray and i am i'm 99.9 % sure that I'm not because why would I if I genuinely don't believe that anyone would be there to listen to it but would the argument be it's like the candy man thing it's exactly what I was going to say, it's the opposite of that where you're saying there's 0.0001 % chance bloody Mary's going to kill me if I do this thing still not going to do it so if you're about to die, that 0.0001 % in your head might go, this is my only chance I may as well just ask you I need to repent sorry God, I've been slanging you off for years but can you make sure my sister's benign do you not do that sort of thing when you were younger though where you sort of make little deals in your head you sort of think like god I'm not really certain you're real but if you let if you let John Barnes score this penalty then I might go to church once if there is yeah well when my OCD was at its worst I used to literally have a mental prayer that I knew word for word that I would recite every single night I used to go in and kiss the photo of my grandad 13 times now who am I doing that for do you know what I mean obviously there's a mental health issue but I used to go like I used to go dear god blah blah blah blah blah and this was at the time when I was like I'm fucking militant atheist where I'd be online going blah blah blah and then I'd be at home on my own yeah shutting my eyes saying that so it is weird but and again not an original thought but just a regurgitation of um like Bo Burnham but because I don't believe in an afterlife I I feel like i am really i really appreciate how lucky i am to be alive now yeah does that make sense instead of just going well we'll play it safe and we'll see what happens in the next life in paradise this is the paradise that we're in now fuck me sat in here with this guy drinking super huge while he makes us ill this is paradise you're welcome well this is the closest version of it this is this is the closest we're ever gonna get i think a lot of that kind of boils down to just realising it doesn't matter.
1:11:52Like where before you were going, why the fuck are you religious? Like where you're going almost annoyed that people can feel this way or think this way because you don't get it. It gets to a point where you just go, why do I care what that person thinks? Your tongue's gone blue. Really blue. I'm agreeing with what you're saying. I'm listening, but I wasn't thinking, this guy's drinking 8 % beer. 8 % drinks. Talking about religion. And he's just getting really free. I love it. He's halfway through those three counts. So are you getting caught with some of a hammered alcoholic bloke in a pub who talks to you for a bit?
1:12:23That's exactly what I was thinking earlier. I said I'm going to lean into it. But I do just think, like, why have we... That fucking bloke I met the other day. But why do we care, like, about, like... I don't know. There's so many things where, like, I see, like, hate and stuff online, where when I see stuff, I just go, why are you so against this? Like, it cannot affect your life that much that you're this angry. I hate the people that try and... It works both sides of the coin, but I hate the people who do these viral clips where they go up to vegetarians and they eat meat. I was like, oh, what?
1:12:57Who do you? Why is that bothered? And the other way around, when vegetarians, they actually have more of a reason, to be fair, because their viewpoint is, why are we killing millions of animals? I was talking to Ishan Akbar, a comedian the other day, who's Muslim, and he said, I was chatting to him about faith or something like that, and I said to him, do you know my favourite bit of Islamophobia? And he went, weird stuff. I was like, What I was saying was, I like when they're like, oh, I've got bacon sandwich here. Like it's like, it's like kryptonite. And they go, yeah, okay mate, cool. I'm not going to eat it.
1:13:31Cheers. It's so weird. They did that at that Tommy Robinson thing the other day, didn't they? There was like a guy playing up on stage, like playing an instrument and he had bacon wrapped around him. Like there's got an old Muslim section, I want to watch this. No, they're not going to want to be there because they're all guns.
1:13:48Sorry on that, FU. Yeah, I think Stevie should have to drink two or three Super Hoots every ep. It's so good. Start the ep sober. Yeah. I can't for the next one. No, that's going to be good, yeah. I'm going to order you three more on delivery. I might just run down the shop and get us during the ep. If you run out, mate, let me know. I'll do a run for you. Before we finish on yours, Robbie, I just want to give you... So I think chocolate Aero's are way better than mint arrows now. Fair enough. Pure chocolate. Yeah. And I genuinely believe that's a good litmus test for are you mature now? I think kids like the mint ones.
1:14:22I like the orange one. Orange arrow? Yeah. The new release? Old dog that one. Six years ago, mate. It used to be when I was a kid. Really? Orange arrow? Oh, it did, didn't it? Yes, it did. Were you there when he was a kid? Well, now they do honeycomb, praline, all these mad ones. Do they? Yeah. but I think when you're a kid you go mint or you go orange when you get older you like the pure chocolate Isaac loves a mint aero yeah big fan when he's 19, 20, 23 he will 21 or 22 back to mint yeah yeah very sure he'll go back to mint yeah 24 and another real quick one that we don't really need to discuss is I think skinny jeans are crap right and that is the most I've ever changed my mind on anything I wrote that in mine did you but I don't know if it's because I'm really top heavy and I look back at some photos of myself and skinny jeans and I was thinking fucking hell I'm an upside down pyramid.
1:15:13Yeah. Like it's such a weird look. I'm so lanky that when I wear skinny jeans I look like I'm being drawn by like Tim Burton. Yeah. I have quite strong muscular thighs. Right. So it's really hard the skinny jeans thing to find trousers that fit. You have to find one and then just buy those trousers all the time. I will say the opposite though. I can't do wide leg jeans either. No. Because I find that that's too much for me. I'm just a straight leg now. Right. You're a straight leg. I'm a straight leg. See I like a wide leg. I used to I vividly remember thinking when I was like 19, 20, I used to think my feet were too big.
1:15:46So I used to be insecure about my feet. No, they are. Yeah, thank you. Okay, I've gone back there. Or just like that. Maybe she forgot about the cyst.
1:15:56I used to wear skinny jeans so tight, I used to buy them from the women's section in Primark. And I used to buy three pound Primark plimsolls because they sort of hug your foot a little bit and made it look neck big. As tight as possible, yeah. And I used to remember actually thinking, I will never not wear these. I was going, it will be skinny jeans and Primark plimsolls for life. And then I got to about 24 and things started to change. Yeah. So skinny jeans, get in the bin. They'll probably come back in fashion. And I'll be there on the front line, putting it back on. Right now. Trying to. Right now, enjoy the time when we don't have to wear them.
1:16:32Yeah. But freeing on the old package as well, isn't it? Not having to wear them. Not having to wear them. Yeah, when you're wearing them. everything's being right sucked in there, isn't it? Not in a good way. Actually, that's something that I've changed my mind on. What? On the subject. I'm expecting you to say like you're wearing speedos or Y-fronts now. I'm expecting you to say... Yeah, pretty much. Briefs. Oh! Like, I used to like... When I was a kid, you know, you have like Y-front type things like that. Then you go like, I'll get your boxer shorts. That's cool like that. Do you know what?
1:17:01There's a lot of comfort in the briefs. I think, yeah, that's quite nice. Really? It keeps everything packed. I thought it was going to be tight on the old V-line. You know? I'm a trunks man. Yeah, I used to use trunks, long-term trunks. What, baggy trunks? No, no. You know, because boxers are still quite close, aren't they? So I like boxers, but with a slightly longer leg, so it doesn't ride. I think it makes my thighs rash when I wear them. I don't have that issue, so I don't know what to tell you there. See a doctor, don't ask chat. No, but that's something I've gone, like these days I say, I'll actively look out.
1:17:36If I'm going to be running particularly, I'll be like, I want a brief rather than a trunk. We both need to try briefs and see if we can agree. Maybe I'll buy you a brief each and you can try it. What size are you? Christmas app. We'll put some briefs on. What size are you? Large? That was what we got as a gift for tour, wasn't it? I'm fucking small, mate. I'll see if they got a large but small penis. Extra large one on the back and smaller one on the front. I like it. Have you got one more, Robert, you want to finish? The TV show BoJack Horseman. I don't think I've seen it properly. So I watched the first episode of Sade, I thought, I'm into this.
1:18:15And then a couple of people said, it's really good. That feels like fart humor to me. My God, no, it's so intelligent. It's all drugs and shit, isn't it? Nah. Nah, that's Rick and Morty. Nah, it's all like depression and fame and stuff like that. It's quite dark. It's absolutely brilliant. Animated, isn't it? Animated. he's a horse imagine it wasn't a real horse every time it's a documentary it was at Will Arnett yeah I think so yeah but it's absolutely brilliant I mean it's finished now I mean you can still watch it obviously but it's not loads of series is it five or six series I think but just start at the beginning watch it through and it's one of the best shows I've ever seen is it really?
1:18:55really good and I think a lot of people like I know Bev would never watch it I've tried to get her to watch it because she'll discount it because it's a cartoon let's bring back Film Club so in touch but The Simpsons in my opinion is one of the best things ever made. Yeah, but have you heard a recent episode of The Simpsons, Homer's voice? Oh, mate, Marge's voice. Have you not heard them? Oh, it's so bad. It sounds like granddad. Yeah. Didn't need me to come back in for Marge. But honestly, Marge sounds about 94. Why? Have they changed the actors? No, but they're old. Just because they're so old.
1:19:21Change the actors then. Marge sounds like Patty and Selma now. Oh, no. Homer sounds like his dad. Yeah. Oh, yeah, Abe. Yeah. I think for this then, we bring back Film Club, but Series Club, we both have to watch all of BoJack so they'll hear our opinion on it in about eight months. The problem with that is I have made a deal with myself and no one else knows this, right? Not even Fiona. But by the time the year's out, right? I am watching from start to finish Sopranos. Okay. The Wire. Good. And Succession. Brilliant. What a year you've got. My God, you've got a good year. I've never seen any of them.
1:19:56I watched Succession because of Robbie. Right. Loved it. Did you? So good. Have you seen Sopranos? No, I haven't. And I haven't seen The Wire either. Shall we watch Sopranos at the same time? Yes. Yeah, you've seen it. I've seen all three of them. Rate them. Sopranos bottom of the three, but still brilliant. I've heard people say it changed their lives, the Sopranos. Apparently the first season is quite slow, isn't it? It's amazing. It's really good. But I mean, we're talking about probably my three favourite TV shows ever. And then... In at two. I think maybe two is the... Maybe The Wire or...
1:20:29Here's my issue if you say The Wire. I've seen Succession so you're asking me to go and watch two series worse than Succession yeah well it could go either way I'd say for me personally I prefer those two I'll go The Wire first no no have you started Eva yet? I have seen the first episode of The Sopranos four times because every six months I'm going to watch it and then I have to start it again okay let's do Sopranos alright alright deal so how many so do we have like a certain amount of episodes we have to watch a week do you know how many there are how long it is I think roughly At the top of my head There's something like 80 episodes All in Oh it's not too bad We can get through that Two or three a week By the end of the year Well you want to watch All three by the end of the year If I'm watching it with you now I won't like I'll just do it To match you Yeah I'll message you And be like I've just finished this Okay cool We're going to give you Full reviews on that Robbie Okay so Not Bojack and Horseman That's what I was talking about But cool Hey either way Okay well you tell us Where would Bojack Horseman Fit in that list Below those Well there we go there Either way, you've got a great TV ahead of you.
