Guests (backgrounds)
- Tom Garratt: UK football creator; wears an England shirt featuring Maradona’s “handball” motif; shares experiences attending major matches (including a World Cup final) and discusses football culture/atmosphere.

- Best live goal examples: Jason Koumash (Nottingham Forest, 2003) and Marcus Rashford vs Chelsea.
- Quiz examples: 1986 World Cup host (Mexico), Portuguese Golden Boot winner (Eusébio), last player to kick a ball in the World Cup (Montiel), and World Cup final scorers (Thomas Müller not scoring in a final).

Yes, guys, welcome back to Jack Makes Happy Hour podcast. The World Cup is upon us. Stevie, has it started yet? Yes. Started. And look, we've got two of the biggest football creators in the UK. It's Tom Garrett. Wow, big praise. And Zach Nobid. That's a joke that was off the park. Good callback. It's a great callback. Now, Tom, you got the memo, it seems. Oh, yeah, I've already had this out with him as I walked in. You got the England shirt on. It's a cool jumper.
3:20Is this not what's it called when you go against your country? Gims of a T. Treachery. Treason. Treason, yeah. You should have your head chopped off for treason. Let's do it. Do you want to explain what you've got on the jumper for the audio? It is a knitted jumper of the Maradona handball. I didn't even notice that. I just knew it was Argentina. That's the state of the world. That's what I thought you were taking a look about. Hey, look, I forgot that Jack asked me to wear an English shirt and then he was like... You've worn the opposite. Exactly, I did the complete opposite. Someone's got, otherwise we just, you know, we look like the EDL, don't we?
3:56There's still an England reference on there. Exactly. Yeah, very true. No name on mine, mate. I'm an adult. Is this England kid from back in the day where you could wear inside out? Actually, you're taking the piss. Oh, I love that shirt, man. That is a great shirt. I don't even remember that. Yeah, this is when we beat Argentina 1-0. Beckham scored the penalty. We went out to Brazil in the quarterfinals. And this will reverse with them. How old are you? 30. Do you remember the O2 then? Yeah, it's my first World Cup. Yeah. I was watching it at school. We used to watch it in assembly. They wheeled the big TV.
4:26Oh no, we had a projector. Modern. The Midlands are doing alright. Jesus. Yeah, Dudley. Dudley Borat. Zach, it's your first time on the show. It is, thank you. Yeah. The debut. We're going to ask you this question. We want you to imagine the Happy Hour Hall of Fame. You can put any item into the Hall of Fame. Something that means something to you. It can be silly, serious, whatever you want. What are you putting in there? Oh my God. I know. Yeah, I'll go with Tom Garrett's reversible England shirt. It's so good. It's a football related one. So it's gotta be a football related. Yeah, so we'll put that in there.
5:01I can't remember now. What did you say? I think I said my sign Kuma shirt. Yeah, you did. Yeah. And buzz balls, you said. I don't even like buzz balls. Do you like buzz balls? No. I said to him, if you've got drinks there, I meant actual sub drinks. He goes, pop out and get your buzz balls. He did not. I'm like, I knew he took that serious. I've got a big few weeks coming up, mate. I'm off the drink. Love it. For four days. Right, so we're going to do some quick fire questions. Football related. We'll alternate. So Tom, we'll go to you first, mate. What's the best football chant in the whole world?
5:34Oh, I've actually come prepped. Have you? Yeah, because you sent it all to me. Yeah, come on. What's the best chant in the world? I've got two. Because one's like me personally. Okay. One is objectively. Okay. Objectively, Spirit of the Blues, Evan. It is a very good song. Yeah. Is that better than You'll Never Walk Alone? That's not even Liverpool. Yeah. I mean, it's such a lot. Everyone's got that song Celtic, haven't they? Man United used to sing it in the 60s. Did they? Yeah. Everyone used to sing You'll Never Walk Alone. So how have Liverpool just... They just sang it longer. They just stuck with it and they've won everything.
6:05I don't know. Right. Fair enough. And then Shit on the Villa. Okay. Okay. Because there's loads... It's just... When it drops, when the beat drops on Shit on the Villa. It's unbelievable. because they're alone. Oh, sure. It makes sense as well in West Brom. it is technically the blues song. We copied it because we had Villa as well, but all the wool songs we have are boring because it's just like, yeah, we beat you five one. It's easy. What was the one with thingy setter back Ballamdor? Carl Bartley Ballamdor. Carl Bartley Ballamdor. It was good crack. Carl Bartley Ballamdor. Yeah, that was good crack.
6:36You must like that Chelsea one. Chelsea, Chelsea, Chelsea, Can I just say, that is a good joke. I agree. Thank you. That is like, I'll burn, I'll burn, I'll burn. Everyone else? Yeah, that's it. Yeah. Chelsea do it. I was fucking raging. I was thinking more about the chant where they're digging up that girl and then fucking the corpse and stuff. Yeah. What? That's a good Chelsea. I know celery, but I don't know that one. Ten men went tomorrow. That's a good one. Ten men went tomorrow. But that's just more like a hymn, isn't it? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Have you got it? I'm going to get it now. I do not know this one.
7:10It's fucking mental, mate. Or I could have gone the Lord's my shepherd, but again, I think it's... Yeah, you guys. You guys. We've got a few good ones, but what else is good? I mean... What about Harry Maguire? Drinks your vodka? That's a good fun one during the internationals, isn't it? If it was a song, I'd say... It's coming out. Three Lions. Oh. I heard that earlier. Excited. And I was like, we're going to win it. I genuinely got World Cup fever. I didn't have it in Qatar. I've got World Cup fever, man. It has hit me now, but I am obviously depressed because I can't go out. Yeah, what's going on there?
7:39Because the Pitchside boys are gone and you're staying at home. Did I speak on this the last time? I can't remember. I can't sort my visa out, not within time anyway. Basically, the documents, because I got arrested when I was over there as a student. Everything got dropped because I was innocent, guys. And then basically, because it was so long ago and it was such a small case and it got dropped so quickly, there's no online documents of it. It would still be a public case, but I've researched that they just get rid of it basically because it's nothing on the system, whatever. So to get the documents they needed, which was a police report of it.
8:14I have to go to the police station and get it myself with an ID to prove it's me. I can't get in the country to get it. Oh. So it's just a catch. And my mates are police officer over there who obviously I played with and he went to try and get it for me. And they were like, no, he has to call me himself. And he's like, he can't. He can't. Fuck. That's so weird. It's ridiculous that country, man. The presidents are rapists. That's why you can't get in there. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Mate, for the last six months, we've been so like, edit anything out of that. Yeah, be careful. Now, fuck up. We might need to edit out if we want to go.
8:46That African referee can't even get in. Yeah. Iran might not be able to get in. Iran could barely get in. Iran have had to move their base to Mexico. Iran, for games in America, have to be out of the country by that evening. I did not know that. It's ridiculous, mate. Wow. It's mental. The one Iraqi player got held for like seven hours, questioned. There's a Somalian referee who's the top referee in Africa who's meant to be reffing there. Can't get in. Yeah. What, because of where he's from? Probably. It's honestly... America, eh? Wow. They should have just given it Mexico. Yeah. But then again, everybody had it.
9:19Selfish. I want to go back to this awful chant. Okay. Oh, God. I don't know if I know it. So it's called Chelsea Ranger. Oh, maybe I do know this. So it goes, I want to be a Chelsea Ranger. I want to live a life of... Are you sure you've got the harmony right? Probably not. Probably not. It repeats. It repeats. So it goes, I want to be a Chelsea Ranger. I want to be a Chelsea Ranger. then carry on. Well I'm not going to repeat every last one. No no but then give it a little break. I want to live a life of danger I want to be every week chasing them up and down the street here's to the girl who I love best every night I suck her breasts shag her standing shag her lying if she had wings I'd shag her flying now she's dead but not forgotten dig her up and shag her rotten Yeah I didn't know that one.
10:05Can't see how I sang that one. Can't see how I sang that one at Sanford Bridge guys. Never heard that one. Yeah, not heard that one. There's a good video of it. I actually think I've heard the start of that. Yeah. Now I know why that probably doesn't get finished. What about the tickle in the bun with the celery? Yeah, that one I've heard a couple. Less so nowadays, actually. But Wembley a couple of times. And then people just chuck celery around the... The celery's banned, isn't it? Yeah, because of that song. But not banned in Wembley. Not always. Not always banned in Wembley. My dog loves celery.
10:31It's good for their breath as well. Just saying. What's the best jersey ever made? Oh, I've got... Again, I've got one person. Again, we're going back to this one, guys. I went with the Albion 96, 97 away kit. Chelsea yellow away kit, cause, brandy, sponsorship in the middle. Now, the best Chelsea one is the one they've remade this year. Is this the Menzies one? No, the Guests one. Guests, yellow with the light blue sleeves. Do you like that? I love it, yeah. I'm quite liking the kits at the moment without the sponsorships on them. Yeah, but then it's also embarrassing they've not got a sponsor.
11:05You're right. That's just because no gambling now, isn't it? In 20 years time, in 20 years time, when we look back and that'll be a really cool Chelsea retro era. But for now, it's just hard. I do, though, think club shirts need sponsors usually, but then I'm going to contradict myself. The actual best kit ever made is 98, 99, Barcelona away, the orange. And I've just got it with Rivaldo 11 on the back. He's unbelievable. Shout out, classy football shirts. With a blue strip. With a blue strip. Who? Yeah, orange with the blue strip. Yeah, that's nice. I always think, you know, Fulham, when they had that Dorito sponsorship, is quite a cool shirt.
11:37Now that's Pizza Hut. Pizza Hut when they're in film at the pizza. That is a pretty cool show. Is it when they had Nintendo? Was it right? Yeah, that was good. That was decent. That Fiorentina shirt generally has got really good kits as well. Right. Second best sport and why? Oh my God. Golf for me now. Fletty. Fletty. Yeah, shut up fucking hell. My ears popped. What was that? I can't hear anything. Honestly, my ass probably for the best. Yeah. Yeah. What was that? What was that? Did you sneeze? He sneezed but held his nose. And then instead, dropped his eardrums. I was trying to stop myself from sneezing.
12:18I can't hear anything. How good sneezing by the way. Yeah, come on. Not when you do that. Shit if you stop yourself. Have a sip of your drink. I'm good, I'm good, I'm good. What was the question? Second best sport. Golf is up there for me. To play as a watch. A bit of both. You can do both. To play golf for sure. Never played it. With me horse racing. You love your horse racing. Yeah, he does love his horse racing, yeah. I went to the cricket, actually, in the weekend. That's not too bad. I've started getting in. I've started getting into it. Went to watch it. It got rained off. It got rained off air as well.
12:48It's horse racing. What's fun about horse racing? What? If you take the alcohol out of it. Are you joking? What? If you take the event out of it. If you go purely on the sport. The storylines. What's actually good about it? What do you mean? You're not doing anything. Okay, what's good about 100 metre racing? Losing money. I don't think 100m racing is that exciting. You don't find the 100m race exciting? 10 seconds and it's done. You don't find any sort of race exciting? No, don't say that. Yeah, I hate F1. Racing is the dullest thing ever. All of those. Horse racing, unbelievable. Especially if you actually understand the sport.
13:22He does always say that he hates all races.
13:28You got it now, well done. Thank you. Good zinger. Yeah, no, horse racing, I'm going to say an ignorant thing. I know what you're going to say. But it's the horse. That's like saying it's just the car in F1. Yeah, it is. It's not. F1 is probably the hardest sport in the world. Like, they have to be some of the fittest people on earth. The G-force. Are you joking? People think they just sit there and just like you're going down the A4. No, no, no. It's not the hard sport in the world. But there is a massive benefit to the people who have the better car. It's 100%. One of the... And the horse racing's up there as well.
13:56The injuries they get. For the horses? What? No, they don't get injuries. They just get killed. Keep that out. Cut that out. Right, no. That's so ignorant. that's really ignorant yeah I went to a horse race actually recently the best horse doesn't always win what does the jockey what can the jockey actually do to make it go like to whip it whip it yeah they're not allowed to whip them and the whips now are like they're like foam are they yeah it's more it's more like they're not even called whips anymore they're called I can't remember what the PG term is now but it's more to keep the horse in line if it's some horse is via and it's to keep them straight or if they're going to go into another horse it's to move them away and keep them straight so they don't need to got a steering wheel then kind of but mate you're squatting on a half ton horse for like three miles jumping over fences and you think it's just the horse that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard I'd say it's 70 % the horse 70 % the horse it's more horse than man yeah yeah you can't win without a good horse no but some jockeys the difference in jockeys is like unbelievable who's the best jockey out there jumps or flat don't know jumps jumps is in my opinion Could be Jack.
15:06Oh no, Paul Townend or Jack Kennedy. You look at me like I know that. When he said jump some flat, did you think that was his answer? I thought he said jump some flat. And you were like, I don't know. I thought when you went, I don't know. I was like, well, you can pick. You know AP McCoy. I do know AP McCoy. AP McCoy's broken probably nearing off every bone in his body. I know Frankie Dottori. Frankie Dottori was a good flat jockey. Yeah, very good. I met him at a petrol garage once. And you went, all right, Frankie! Right, who's the most irritating footballer on my way? Gabriel. I bet you're loving it then, in a minute.
15:39Gabriel. Romero man's up there as well. Romero, as a Chelsea fan, he's really annoying me. Do you have more hatred towards Arsenal because you have to deal with Arsenal fans more? I don't, I mean, I'm going to break the fourth wall here. I don't actually hate Arsenal. I hate the way they, I don't like watching them play. I find them tedious, but I completely understand the way they play. They've had to do it to win. I get it what I don't like about Gabrielle is I don't mind it when it's I don't know arseving right flopping over but Gabrielle's 6 '4 brick shithouse and he gets and by the way he ragdolls people and when he gets touched he's flipping it and like and again it's more on the refs that but they should just start booking him or send him off I'm sick of it you see the one recently where Rhea touches him and he doesn't really and he goes flying no there's not a there's not a PS3 player It's just his keeper on his back touches him forward.
16:31He just goes. And he goes over and he's appealing to the ref. Honestly, it's embarrassing. But he's a great defender. So it is what it is. Yeah, but he's so good. He doesn't need that. That's what I mean. That also annoys. It's a bit like, that's why I think people love Messi. He's never done that. Whereas like the Ronaldo, he has got that in him. So it's a bit like, you're wank. Is this a little wink against Wayne Rooney? Is this World Cup going to be really weird with like all these new rules they've added to stop time wasting and stuff? Oh, don't. There's another one that's actually on my predictions for later.
17:01Okay. We'll save it. We'll save it. We'll save it. If you didn't support Chelsea, West Brom, you had to just pick another team now. And I know you're very for, like, to support your local. But you did just have to pick another team. See, this was I was going to ask you, is it now or who would I support if West Brom never existed? Yeah, that's a good point, actually. No, now, if you had to pick one now. Yeah, because I think you'd just pick your next closest place. Okay. That's the one quite next closest to you, right? and we don't they're like League 2 QPR you're just going geographical era nah my nan's a massive QPR fan ok and so maybe that would have kind of had the influence there most family are QPR fans so yeah it'd probably be worked out better if Albi never existed I'd be a Wolves fan yeah they'd have that whole space all my mates are Wolves and like we even talk about it now it's like I remember when they got into Europe and like they were they were all in like Braga on the piss and it's like oh god me and my mates some of my other mates like I wish we all supported the same team It would be so good Like doing that But Do you not think I'm a real West Ham fan?
18:02What do you mean? Because I'm from Norwich No because You're not glory hunting Are you? Right I'm guessing your dad Or someone Is a West Ham fan Yeah that's That's Completely valid You're not supporting Arsenal or Chelsea What about this man? Yeah he's 100 % The glory aren't he? Yeah sports man United Yeah yeah yeah Didn't even know Who was pointed No I do But Stevie I don't think you'd Claim otherwise No, well, no, I support him because my mum fancied David Beckham. I just did what my mum told me to do. And why does she fancy David Beckham? Because he's fit. Because he's fit and he played for the best team in the world.
18:35There's all entendres to it. Yeah, okay. You're welcome for that. I know. Thank you very much. How often do you get asked that now? Well, you got to remember, I'll mix with the real people. So they'll go, yeah, you're right about that. Right. If you could, if you could have been there to witness any sporting moment in the flesh, 66 probably yeah like seeing England win a world cup because we're doing it this year I thought you really liked the hand of God yeah well it was a really nice jumper that would be an amazing moment I think 66 or the actual hand of God or the gold oh yeah yeah it always happens in the same game so you'd be there wouldn't you it'd be insane but I think 66 just because that's the only world cup thing that we've like well only international thing that we've had really I was there for the Ronaldo wink were you?
19:20yeah my dad took me to the 06 world cup 6 year old 7 year old Garrett yeah it's the only game we went to. Wow. Were you fuming? Or did you not know about the winch? I think I was just upset. England were terrible that day though. We had the whole stadium and there was just one little corner of Portugal. They were just kicking us. And all the Germans there were supporting the English. It's a big myth about England and Germany. Why were they supporting the English then? Don't know. They just liked the English. When we was in Berlin, mate, they loved the English. That was my experience anyway. But me and my dad weren't singing 10 German bombers.
19:49I assume in the moment you don't know this winch's happening. No, no, no, no. We didn't even know what had happened. You'd just see the red card to Rooney. There was also no social media then. You wouldn't have found out until ages later. It was ages after the game. But I'd go for that Albion 68 Cup final. But for non-Albion, I'd go, I thought about this. And I tried to go, I was trying to think of like a rogue one. I was actually at the World Cup final most recently. That's what I was going to go. What a messy one. It's just like the best game ever. And you know what's so mad is I actually barely remember it.
20:22because of how amazing it was and like being in the moment. Like when I think back to it now, I can only really picture him celebrating and like them all celebrating. I can never really remember part. I remember the Martinez save and the Mbappe volley and then the last... Two big moments to remember. No, no, exactly. But I don't remember much else at all from it. But it was incredible. So like, I've just been to the Champions League final, right? And I don't see these events ever because of who I support. You were there for the Arsenal. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, and I just thought the game was pretty crap.
20:54Just the whole event and everything. It's sick, isn't it? It's like the best experience ever. And the game was crap. But the atmosphere from both supporters was so good. Was it good in Qatar? Well, for the final, the Argentina fans were a very insane man. And I always found it so funny that, you know, we were saying earlier about the Maguire song, right? Our song is like, Maguire, you know, drinks your vodka, his head's massive, whatever, whatever. Their song, I'd ask like an Argentinian guy, oh what is your song that you guys keep singing about like messi and they're like leonard messi this is his honor like he's been he's a gift from god like and he's something about maradona's now handing over his pattern yeah literally and i'm just like it's so funny that they did for comparisons but they were they were amazing man but it was i still prefer her i think to be honest i still prefer her but yeah no the argentina fans are amazing man they were They're the best fans I've ever seen.
21:50Ever, ever, ever. Well, I'll think that about PSG. Yeah, they are sick. They're unbelievable. Their ultras are crazy. But I do think there's a bit of a myth about this. I thought, not with PSG, but I see some German things, right? And they could concede a goal and nothing. They don't go, oh, they just continue bouncing. That's not an atmosphere to me. I like atmospheres that react. Yeah, you're bang on. Yeah, because to get that high, you need that low as well. Yeah. Or you can feel it's tense. Everyone's just jumping up and down, singing like... You know one of the best sounds in football I always find is when people are sat down watching and then it's like a moment.
22:25And they're like... It's so good, man. Little things like that. I think it's what you always hear people as well, like chat about like, there's such like little English things where it's like the gate smacking on like a goal. Yeah. No, the best is just before, if a player goes through, it's gone. And then there's a pause, everyone goes silent. And then you sit. It's the end of the breath. It's so good. Finally, what's the best goal you've ever seen? live in the flesh. Jason Koumash away at Nottingham Forest in 2003. He loves it. Google it, watch it right now and tell me that's not the best guy you've ever seen in your life.
22:57I'll be honest. Picks the ball up from the goalie, sticks someone on his arse, carries it 30 yards, sticks it top bins. Versus who? And the commentator goes, is there any limit to this boy's talent? I don't think there was. What is he playing against? Just type in Koumash versus Forest. Both his goals will come up that day. I think maybe one of the goals in the final. the occasion and like it's a joke I'd also seen a couple of messies in the semis and quarters and stuff like that didn't he score I saw his goal no the goal he scored it's Croatia yeah I saw that live and that was did he score that did he pass that off I think he passes it yeah I saw that live and that was a joke which one was that Messi against Croatia he switched it up Vardyol oh yeah that was a ridiculous goal that I've just seen this key mess go it's decent it's decent I've seen a goal from the halfway line at Crawley Town.
23:48Have you? Yeah. In maybe the craziest game ever. It was like 4-3 against, which is the Welsh team? Newport? Yeah. Yeah, Newport. 4-3, something like that, 5-4. It was a keeper of the line, obviously. Well, so there's two red cards in the game or a red card in the game. The referee is substituted for pulling his quad halfway through it as well. A goal from the halfway line. Crawley, I think, came back from losing to win. it was absolutely insane and then they had three different goals from outside the box as a joke what's yours? Pyatt's free kick against Palace oh because it just I know he's got a load he could put in I was there for the Borough one as well where he's ran it round everyone but the free I know it just sounds such an obvious thing to say it is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen what is the best goal you've seen against your team live I actually think mine might be Marcus Rashford Man United against Chelsea free kick yeah that's good and I was with Joe Tomlinson who's a Man United fan and he goes to me Rashford never scores these boom oh I actually I actually tried to think of one of that and I just can't I'm struggling to I'm struggling to think of it against against because we concede so many yeah I saw Yusuf Safri score a fucking worldie against Newcastle once for Norwich that was unreal do you remember the Moroccan Yusuf Safri the name rings a bell but I can't remember a goal yeah I remember Nasri scored one against we actually beat them at the Emirates 3-2 but Nasri scored one where it just seemed like he took on about eight players.
25:14He just kept chopping it and chopping it and then just tapped it in. But, yeah, against us, I don't know. It's hard. I block them out. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You do try to, 100%. Chris Brunsworth scored a few which are like ridiculous. For West Brom. Yeah, they scored a halfway line goal. The worst game I ever saw live, I went to watch West Ham v Wigan. I think it was at Upsham Park. And we got there, me and my mate had to get the Megabus from Norwich. We got there five minutes late. We're 1-0 up. So missed the goal. And then we lost 4-1. Oh, that's it. To me, that's not... The worst game I've ever watched is Blackburn a few months ago.
Read the full transcript
25:51Went to Blackburn away. We took nearly 8 ,000, right? One of the biggest away sports ever. Was this when you were still in the battle as well? Yeah, this is a radiation battle. We hit the bar and that was it. On either team. And it was like a party atmosphere. Everyone went down. We filled out Blackburn pubs, this and that. And before the game, I remember looking around with my dad and I was like, this is actually unbelievable. We're so shit. and look at all these people here. And 10 minutes into the game, it's just, this is so bad. It was one of the worst professional football I've ever watched.
26:22That Brazil game we went and watched was shit. Was it Brazil-Uruguay? When we were in Vegas, we went and watched that. Oh, the Copper America. The Copper America. Yeah, it was shit. Nil-nil. Uruguay won on pen. Nothing happened. Penalty. Oh, really? Just such a dull game. Yeah, what's the best and worst game you've ever seen at Old Trafford? What else have we got? Zach, congrats mate, 100k. Thank you mate, thank you very much. How's it going? It's good fun, yeah, it's really good fun. Doing some cool shoots, Tom calls people idiots a lot, which is great. Do you like doing the 20-day? Yeah, to be fair, Zach's kind of took over the space and it's very - Thank you, man.
27:03I know you've, like there's people be having a go at the midnight stuff that they do, copying you, but then you've kind of took that idea from, who was it from? Jubilee, obviously. But you've made it your own within this space and the guests you're getting on are just unbelievable. Trying. I mean, it's a weird one. I find, because obviously we did Football Daily for years and that was like with a group. You must have that with Pitchside. It's a group all the time and I love that. And now it's kind of weird when you're on your own. But I'm also not kind of on my own because like, you know, Garrett comes down a lot, like Ben Bowman.
27:30Yeah, you just get all of us to do the legwork. You guys are on the mark so everyone praises me. But no, it's good. I think we've got a really good thing going. Like, I'm really trying to hope we get some big, big guests next season. Yeah, I think you already have. Yeah, we've done all right, man. It is testament to how like everyone, like the amount of people who want to do the shoots and will travel to do it. Yeah. How do you go about contacting guests? Like the guests you've had, obviously already had some really big names. Well, because I've been in football now for like 10 years. I've managed to meet a bunch of like agents and like people, whatever.
28:01And so like there's normally a contact somewhere through someone to get someone. So yeah, that's like, I mean, Carragher obviously was probably the biggest one I've done so far would you say he's been the best for the content I was spoken about you the other day oh really I met him at the CBS party when he said that certain thing in the room yeah I said I'll miss John I said do you enjoy it he said I fucking loved it mate I saw me I fucking loved it but he's like he's the only maybe that's too harsh but he's probably one of the if not the guy who is so in with social media so taping He understands what it means, but also...
28:39He knows all the content creators. He'll message Bournemouth fans and ask them what the... But appreciate them as well. He genuinely wants to know the fan opinion. And he's so switched on with it. He was an amazing man. He was incredible. I was like, because you told me this before. And then when I met him, I brought it up. And he was like, yeah, of course. He said, I don't want to look stupid on telly. He's talking about Bournemouth. And I don't watch every Bournemouth game. So I'm going to ask... He said, I'd ask you the same if West Brom come up. I'd ask them, what's the feeling around the ground?
29:06That's clever. Yeah. What do you want to say? Yeah, it's just like, you can't expect people to watch every single game of every league. It's like, why would I not tap into the people who know? And match-going fans are the ones who know. What did he whisper to you? So I was with Liv, and she was talking to someone from Sky who she used to work with. And I've never met Richards or Carragher, but we follow each other on stuff. And they just come bouncing. I think they'd already been on the drink all day, so they were pissed, come bouncing. They're like, oh, you're right. And then Carragher grabs me, and he's like, hey.
29:36And then he whispers in where he goes, don't be wanking anyone off in here, mate. I'd actually already seen the clip. I just wanted to tell you. Get your own version. Get your own version. He is like, without a doubt, the best person in punditry right now. Really? Like, just gets it from all levels. But he's also respectful to you. Like, if you're having conversations with him about football, he's not going to be like, what the fuck? Oh, no, better than you. He genuinely, like, want to understand your point. He thinks you're wrong. He thinks you're wrong. Yeah. But like, he is, yeah, doesn't have an ego about it.
30:03The way he articulates it is so good as well. Because he actually analyses the games and actually breaks it down. He doesn't just go, well, back in my day, we did this. Well, it's not your day, is it? You dinosaur. What, Fee, can I say about your thing? This episode is brought to you by Palmolive. Family time isn't just the big moments. It's weeknight dinners. 31:25Honestly, he's great. And when he comes on telly, Fee loves everyone, but she's like, get him off the screen now. Why is it the accident?
31:35I think it's the spitting thing as well. You can't get over, can you? Yeah, I mean, we all have... We've all done shit. We've all made mistakes. We've all spat on a cut.
31:48Maybe that would have helped. Right, boys, you up for a little quiz? Yeah, if I have to whoop him, I'll whoop him. All right. You two were speaking before the pod started. You put that one, is that right? Yeah, we put 20. 20 quid? We put 20. Also, someone tried to call me out about our bet. And I wanted to bring this up. Yeah, I mentioned last time Tom was on, you guys made a bet about West Ham and I can't remember what it was, but you said you had a little note on your phone. I did, but then I remember voice noting him and he tried to mug me off. Did I? Yeah. How? I was like, I owe you money, mate, or something.
32:24So Jack won the bet. I can't remember what it was. Something about West Ham. Was it about them getting relegated? I can't actually. No, because it was before that. Was it about a manager getting sacked? I said Nuno would be... I can't remember. I won the bet. Was it about Potter? I'm pretty sure you won the bet. It might have been, because I think you'd won the bet before the episode even went out. I think it was. And now he's at the World Cup. Yeah. I'm pretty sure I deleted it because I remember messaging you and then you went, don't worry about it. Because I think we were doing a vlog or something and they said, oh, you owe Jack mate money.
32:55And I was like, look, I'll message him now. And you were like, don't worry about it. and then I replied being like, oh, it's all right, they're trying to mug me off and then you sent a voice note being like, yeah, you held me down and didn't like, it's somewhat weird. Not in a set, I don't know. I'm waffling here. I can't remember. We could just go and look but I can't be bothered. Right, so, 15 points up the grabs. All right. Why am I doing this? Yeah, it's going to be funny how bad you'll be. I think there's 13 questions. There's actually the answers. Why am I bothering? The last one's worth it.
33:23Never day. I am not in on the back. Some of them are multiple choice. Some of them are not. Right. So, question number one. Which of these four players have never won Player of the Tournament? At the World Cup. Is this all World Cup questions? All World Cup questions, yeah. Diego Forlan, Oliver Kahn, James Rodriguez, or Luka Modric? One of those has not won Player of the Tournament. Which one will it be? Which one will it be, boy? Keep in mind. Wait, say them again. Forlan. Diego Forlan. James Rodriguez yeah Oliver Kahn or Modric good thing I recorded a World Cup quiz two weeks ago oh gosh this did not feature in that quiz do you know this?
34:12no I don't know this I'm 100 % positive are you actually? I'm just going for the one that it feels like it shouldn't be well yeah that's the point no but like as in I'm going for it I think Hamas Rodriguez probably did the year that he scored the screamer Modric definitely did the year he won the Ballon d 'Or no no no you can't be doing this by the way like looking at it like Modric did he's not winning the Ballon d 'Or and not having that right number two which nation held the 1986 World Cup held it yeah I see that wasn't even born easy why do you need to know that information why do you need to know anything what kind of what kind of things I had to say that's before you're born means nothing yeah you know who John Lennon is yeah what an answer what an answer number three who is the only Portuguese player to have won the World Cup Golden Boot
35:12brains are ticking I don't know I'd be annoyed if that's not wrong how confident are you of this Stevie that one I've just changed from one to another and I'm hoping the change is the right decision If you don't say the first one, I'm going to be an elway. Okay. Well, how do you want to do it? Should we do three, three, three? So do the answers of the first three or do you want to just score them at the end? I don't care. Okay. Okay. Right. So this one is pretty much impossible. So I'm going to give the points to the person who's closest. So Brazil have the most points in World Cup history, but how many points have they got in their history?
35:47Closest. Three for a win, one for a draw. But do you get over every tournament? Are you getting points for if you win in the semifinal? Yeah. Yeah. If it was all a point system,
35:58I can't imagine anyone's going to know it, so I'll just give it to the closest. There's some maths going on in there, let me tell you.
36:15This is a long one, isn't it? I'll give you time, it's fine. Alright. Can I use my calculator? Yeah, I'll allow it. I'm not going to Google it, don't worry. I didn't think you were until you said that. Actually, show us the entire time. Do you get points? Are you working out? Yeah, you do. I was only trying to think about one more question before. Also, we've got a little... What are you doing? I think I'm going too high. I thought you were doing a spell. Can you please repeat number two for me, please? Yes, I can, mate. Number two is which nation held the 1986 World Cup?
36:58Quezzy number five come in. Which nation has taken part in the most World Cups without ever winning it?
37:12Number five, yeah? Yeah. So which nation has taken part in the most? Never won it. Never won it.
37:21Number six. Which nation has failed to get to a World Cup finals the most amount of times? So been knocked out of the semis? Nope. This is the World Cup in itself. So they don't even get three qualifications. Yeah, I've got multiple choice. Okay. So Greece, Lichtenstein, Moldova or Iceland?
37:48Shout out to Luke Pingu for this question I've recently done his World Cup quiz and this is a question I've stolen from him Shout out Pingu Which footballer was the last person to kick a ball in the World Cup? Please note that we are World Cup's not started yet How hot are we on like spelling? You were there Yeah he was there I don't know who took the last... I will be fair. I'm pretty sure I've got it. Even though Zach's got it, I did do a multiple choice for this. So I didn't have to. Yeah, do the multiple choice. Messi, McAllister, Mbappe or Montiel? The fact that he said I don't know how to spell it makes me think it might be Montiel.
38:30I'd be fuming if I was Zach. I'd be like, don't give him the... Don't give him it! That money is void now, Tom. Void. He just doesn't know how to spell Messi. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Is it with a Y or an I? Right, this is multiple choices. The next few are, to be fair. So if you know it, don't give away. Won't say anything. Which of these is not one of the three official World Cup mascots? Is it Clutch the Bald Eagle, Maple the Moose, Zayu the Jaguar, or Bobo the Bear? One of those is not a mascot. Clutch the Bald Eagle, Maple the Moose, Zayou the Jaguar, and Boba the Bear. Right, number nine. Another multiple choice.
39:16Which one of these players has not scored in a World Cup final? Ivan Perisic, Emmanuel Petit, Thomas Muller, or Paul Pogba? Paul Pogba? In the final of the World Cup? Mm-hmm. Have not scored? Yep. Perisic, Petit, Muller, or Pogba? You should know this, mate. Very easy question. Oh, sassy. The mind games. Yeah. Okay, similar question here for number 10. Which of these players did not score a goal for England in the last World Cup in 2021? Is it Jordan Henderson, Harry Maguire, Phil Foden or Raheem Sterling? I've not scored a goal at the World Cup ever. No, in the last one. Say them again. Jordan Henderson Harry Maguire Phil Foden Raheem Sterling Penalties do count if they're in the game but not a penalty shootout obviously I have not scored a goal in the World Cup last season Yeah in the last World Cup yeah 2022 Am I going fucking insane?
40:22The last World Cup for England who of them didn't score? And you said Jordan Pickford Henderson Henderson Oh that's why I was like hang on a minute what? So who was it? Henderson, Foden You know who was it? Pickford ever I was like In the final Hang on. Henderson, Foden, Maguire. Henderson, Foden, Maguire. We've got three more questions. And who was the other? Sterling. Yeah, Sterling. Raheem the Dream. I'm cooked. 11. Which of these four players have played the most amount of games for England at World Cup Finals? Raheem Sterling, Jude Bellingham, Michael Owen, or Frank Lampard? And I'll tell you now, I can't quite remember the numbers, but it's like 9876.
41:05or something like that. Surely. Say it again, sorry. Raheem Sterling, Jude Bellingham, Michael Owen, or Frank Lampard? Surely. And then this next question's a bit of a rogue one. So what is it that these four players have in common? Jude Bellingham, Owen Hargreaves, David Beckham, and Chris Waddle. Tom's pen's going straight away. Go again. Bellingham, Waddell. Hargreaves and Beckham. Bellingham, Owen, Hargreaves, David Beckham, Chris Waddell. Once you know it, it's obvious, obviously. Yeah, anything. Is it just going to be like they've scored against a certain country or something? Nah. Right, finally, this is the three-pointer.
41:58I need you to put these in order of the most goals scored at World Cup. So four players, I want the highest goal scorer to lowest goal scorer. David Villa, Neymar. All time? Yep. Goals at World Cups. Tim Cahill and Thierry Omri. A is Villa, B is Neymar, C is Tim Cahill, and D is Thierry Omri. I think that means there is 15 points up for grabs. Did you say Villa, Cahill, Omri? Yep. And who's the other one? David Veer, Neymar, Cahill and Henri.
42:39This has not gone well. Was it a tough quiz? I thought it was middling. I just don't remember. Cahill, Neymar. You've got Henri in there as well. And you've got David Veer. Is that it? Yep. That's all the questions? That's all the questions, yep. I'm not confident. No? No, so my name was tough. Right. I think he made that a bit. All right. Okay. Question number one. Which of these four players never won player of the tournament? Stevie, who have you put? I went Hannes Rodriguez. That's correct. I've got Oliver Kahn. Kahn won it in O2. It's Rodriguez. Yeah, he's won the Golden Boot. Never won player of the tournament.
43:16It was the whole myth of Adidas players. Because Ronaldo, our nine, should have won it in O2, shouldn't he? He scored like seven goals. Who won it then? Oliver Kahn won it. He's in Adidas. But they lost in the final to Brazil. And Ronaldo scored two in the final. and they give it calm. It was mental. Which nation held the 1986 World Cup, Zach? I don't know this, but I put Mexico. Oh, you jammy bastard. Maybe I did know it. I put Germany. It's Mexico, mate. Deep down. Who is the only Portuguese player to have won the Golden Boot? I think it's Eusebio. Yeah, I put that down. Oh, I put Figo. Eusebio.
43:53In 66? Not sure. Brazil, but he scored nine. I remember that. I think it was 66. Brazil have the most points in World Cup history but Stevie, how many points have they had? I've said 172 I've gone high I've got I've got if you've gone higher than Matt Yeah Maybe my Matty's terrible 390 Right I've gone 71 That can't be right They've won it five times They've won it five times, seven games With the groups as well You're the furthest away of that There's only three games in the group Round of 16 That's seven games total to win Is it over 200? Yeah Yeah, I was going to say. So do I win? 1-7-2. 3-90.
44:35Steve, you win. It's 2-4-7. Easy. Easy. I really over-egged that. Well, I just thought it's seven games. They wouldn't have played hardly any games. That's part of what I was thinking. They're not playing. I was thinking of this tournament for some reason. This is the first time. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's been loads. Which nation has taken part in the most World Cups without ever winning it? I said Portugal. Netherlands. Holland. Mexico. Is it really? Yeah. yep two answers from Mexico that's because they get to host it all the time yep which nation has failed to get to a World Cup the most amount of time Iceland Lichtenstein I've done this at home correct I saw that recently I heard it on Foxport yeah yeah which footballer was the last person to kick a ball in the World Cup I mean it's going to be mad if I got it wrong I put D Montel Montel yeah that's correct thanks for that one you're welcome Stevie which of the three mascots are not an actual mascot.
45:30I've thought two of the ones you've said are Canadian, the moose and the bear, so it's got to be between them and I'm saying maple moose isn't. Right, Tom? I went the Jaguar. I've put C, whatever that was. The Jaguar? Yeah. No, it was D, the bear. Because I thought Jaguar was Mexico, the eagle's America, so I knew it had to be one of the Canadian ones. And I thought maple moose is a shit name. So what did you say the Mexican one was? The Jaguar. Is it? Apparently, I didn't even know that was there. Well, my logic was that I know bears and moose are both Canadian. I actually think, believe it or not, clutch the bald eagle is Mexico.
46:05I thought that was American. Yeah, I know, but Mexico have the eagle on there. Yeah, they do. So America is bear? They do have a lot of bears. Yeah, well, maple moose has to be. No, no, sorry, bears aren't real. So it'd be the Jaguars. The Jaguars probably America then, yeah. Wow. Which of these players not scored in a World Cup final? Tom who was it? It's Muller. I've got Muller. B. What do you think was Muller? Maybe not. Petit. Oh no actually. Petit scored in 98 mate. No no I had meant to put Muller. Zach if I beat you you need to delete your YouTube channel. Very quickly I start going I've forgotten who's which letter so I start putting the names down.
46:45That's alright. Which of these did not score a goal for England in the last World Cup? Foden? I went Foden but I think it's Maguire now. I put Maguire. Maguire all I could think of was Maguire's penalty but that's why I obviously asked which of these four players have played the most amount of games for England at the World Cup I said Sterling I'd put Sterling and me points all round yeah he just it was a time where he'd play every single game he's got to more when he what when he shouldn't be playing he's still playing Tom what's the connection that connects Bellingham, Hargreaves, Beckham and Waddle I think they all scored the opening goal for England at the World Cup I think they've all taken the seven shirt incorrect Correct.
47:25Is it they were the youngest players to score for England at the World Cup? No. They've all got a red card at the World Cup. No. A good guess. At the time they played for England at the World Cup, they were playing overseas. A broad. Of course, yeah. Stinky question, really. I actually think mine could be right, though. What was yours? They scored the opening goal for England at a World Cup. The likelihood of that being true as well would be mad. Not the answer. Not the answer. There's 20 quid on this thing. And we already gave you one from earlier. Right, put these in order of the most goals scored at a World Cup.
48:01Oh, God. I went Neymar, Veer, Henri, Cahill. You get... Wait, have you gone first or fourth? Yeah. No point. I've gone Cahill. Yeah. First? Yeah. Cahill, Neymar, Henri, Veer. There's no way David Veer's last. What have you put? I've gone David Villa first Henri Cahill then Neymar Oh no one got it right No it was Villa Yeah Villa's got Cahill second I think he's got eight No he's got nine Neymar with eight Henri was six Oh I thought it was like I thought it was a tricky one So I just got my first two The wrong way round Cahill five Yeah you got the first two The wrong way round I thought you threw Cahill in there Because oh he actually has got like She has to get all four to get a point Yeah yeah yeah That's it then isn't it By the way Fiona's just told me that Clutch is the eagle, the mascot for the United States.
48:56So you're talking shit. I am, yeah. Say you the Jaguar represents Mexico and Maple. How shit was that then, boys? I got seven. Oh, and you gave him the fucking answer. I got six. How many did you get? Five. That's not bad. That's actually all right. They're tough. Football quizzes, I don't find football quizzes easy at all. I've never had a good match from them. I've got dead ball knowledge, so I would've never got any. Four really, because I would've never got that. would you not would you not have thought maybe because you gave the other names I can't remember his name I can picture him he had the number four on didn't he I remember the goal I just can't remember his name lads so we'll call it a draw are you calling it a draw I'll get you a beer because I wouldn't have got Montiel realistically nah now you've said it yeah I remember it and I'm pretty sure he won number four he had tape I remember it all yeah I got it right on pingies because the options he gave me were similar like Messi and Bappe and I remember the winning penalty not being one of the top top dogs so that was the only reason lads I want to chat a bit about the World Cup obviously can I get your predictions for each for each group game for England no all of them and also actually Argentina last time because we do one of these specials every tournament don't we and for the Euros 24 we had James Alcott and Ellis Platton yeah and good guests some of the predictions were fucking good Alcott's good, man.
50:20I was watching his earlier, actually. Little fanboy. Yeah. I love his stuff. He's very good. He is great, yeah. Is he like the carer of the YouTube world? He's really... He's not a bad footballer either. He's very good, yeah. Him and Smithy used to play in the same team for a long time. I'd say very good. That's right. He looks good. Someone coming for his crown, that's right. The best footballer on YouTube. He's definitely not. No, Alcott. He's all right. Alcott's good in the midfield. He's all right. I love James Alcott. I don't want to come across like a hatred. When did you play with him? We did that and we did the poker stars like five a side in Ireland with like, he's like pitch side against the club and he was playing.
50:59Do you think you're the best YouTube footballer? No. Who is? I can't say his name. What? Well, I can. I think Phil, he's the best I've seen. Oh, yeah. I don't know. He's a bit weird, isn't it? Other than that, yeah. In terms of an actual game playing, yeah, I'd put myself against anyone. Theo's good I like him People obviously crack jokes But he is good What about Chris MD Chris is good No Chris MD and that They can Chris is a good fighter They could don't shoot So like they can But I don't want to I'm going to sound like Such a novice But I don't think they understand The game properly What about Mini Minter He's never played at that level He's got a 10 on foot mob Or whatever it is Yeah I mean Not many people have that Yeah I mean yeah He's great in his garden What position were you I was thinking Winger Anyway I didn't have to defend and it's a winger.
51:48Yeah, a winger. No, no, no. More in the 10. I was a luxury player. Oh, yeah. And again, by that, I was a very average footballer. Like, there's a reason I went to America. There's a reason I didn't make it. But, yeah, like, Theo's the best of the rest, I think. Is he? Yeah, Theo's really good. Is he the closest to a footballer than, like, just doing free kick-ups? Closest to me. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
52:10I can't... Oh, no, sorry. P.K. Humble's the best. Oh, yeah. P.K. Humble's the best by far. but he's semi-pro isn't he? yeah but he's not pro so therefore he classes as is he the hashtag one? foster yeah he has played hashtag peak humble's quality he is really good what position does he play? I think he's like a centre mid but I think he can play anywhere but yeah he's class he's also another good player who's good on shoots as well I wouldn't believe on shoots it's such an obvious thing to say but like whenever I've played with actual footballers I cannot believe the level do you know you know who one of them still to this day surprised me how old he was was paul merson oh yeah oh my god man so paul merson now has had so many injuries yes um on his knees that he has operations that he finds it easier to pass the ball with the outside of the foot than the inside and we played football daily versus soccer am years ago now and he and bullard played in the same team yeah and merson was just pinging 60 yard pass outside the left foot 60 yard pass outside the right foot just constantly and just like making football look easy.
53:14We actually, we won the game in the end, but only because of our fitness. Right. Only because we could actually just run. Nothing to do with football ability. Him and Bullard was just like making easy things look so simple. Like a body faint. You've never fallen something so easily compared to Bullard. They're just, they're insane, man. It's up here. Yeah. They're like 10 steps, Eddie. Yeah, it's exactly. They know what they do. I remember when I was younger, my dad used to say to me like, oh, you should know what you want to do with the ball before you get the ball. And I was like, what? Yeah.
53:39What do you mean by that? Like, that doesn't make sense. I need the ball and then I need to see what it is. They know what they're doing, not the next, the three feet ahead of that, what they're doing. The likes of Xavi and that, like, I think unless, again, I sound like such a snob, unless you've actually played against pros or then to watch someone like Xavi, who is an obviously amazing, we had this issue last time, I think. I can't remember, yeah. I didn't think Xavi was that good. Or you said something like he didn't, when you actually understand, there's a reason he had 15 yards of space every time he got the ball.
54:08It's stuff that you do off the ball as well. that can make such a difference. Like Messi's the best thing. He stands still. I got taught this when I was quite young. The best thing you can do sometimes is stand still. Everyone's going bang, bang, bang. If you just stand still, but you've got to be brave to do that because you look lazy. If you just stand still, suddenly you've got to, like David Silva used to do it a lot. I went to watch Barca and Messi didn't do fuck all. He doesn't run. Yeah. Then he gets the ball, bang, bang, bang. Yeah. But he's a rare... Yeah. If you can't do that, then you're going to get happy snorted.
54:36Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's the only player I played a charity game on Saturday, just Norwich where I'm from, and we played against like ex-Norwich legends. Todd Cantwell was playing. Did Monmouth play? Who's your mate? Doherty. No, he didn't. No, he didn't. But obviously Todd Cantwell was like Blackburn captain, I think. Like still playing in the chat. I was going to say. It'd be on my shoulder one point. He's a Rangers, isn't he? Yeah, he wasn't a Rangers at one point. And then I'd look away, look back, and he would, it'd be gone. The fitness levels people don't appreciate either. like being able to run not just run on a proper football pitch but also be then running against other elite professionals whose fitness is ridiculous yeah and it's not even that it's when it's that's why in the 75th minute and you've then got a sprint like we can't do that when you're going you're lazy bastard you sign Mark in Rashford or like that is I think that is the biggest gap with obviously there's ability I think there's League 2 players right who are stability-wise, probably aren't that far off for Championship or Premier League players.
55:40It's the fitness levels. Right. The fitness... And you used to see it with... My old man, as you say this about, like Man United, when they used to draw like lower league teams and the lower league teams would go to Old Trafford and 70 minutes, it's nil-nil. And then the last 20, they just get buried. Three-nil. Yeah. Because they just can't... And it's up here as well. The mental side's massive. I was having this discussion at the game, at the Champions League, because Liv was obviously wanting Arsenal to lose. She's like, oh PSG, moving it too slow. And I said, trust me, after about an hour or so, they'll make a mistake, Arsenal, mentally or physically because when you're chasing that ball, when you don't have the ball for so long, it's so hard to stay switched on.
56:18You saw it with, was it Muscara? Yeah, it gives away the penalty. It's not a lazy, it's a tired challenge and then you win the penalty. It's so hard to do that for so long without the ball. That's a great point. The best player I've ever seen, which is weird to say, it's a player for like Roberto Carlos and shit, but Jamie O 'Hara, Oh man, he was a player. I can't believe how good he was. These are the levels where I think sometimes people will say these names and they're like, oh God. Failures? Yeah. What? And it's like, no, no, no. They're unreal, man. Like, even if they're defenders, they're so good.
56:49I played Gary Cahill just to get in like a seven-a-side match. And he's like the best player in the world by a mile. Just because even if they, like traditionally we know them as like a centre-back or whatever. Mate, we give footballers so much shit and it's all relative, of course. Yes. But like what we're calling them out for doing, nobody could be able to do. And as you said, especially that whole point of like in the 78th minute when you're one nil down and you've got to hit that perfect pass. And your legs are gone. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's really not as easy. I think sometimes we make it out.

58:39England-Croatia's first game, yeah. So it's Monday, this episode's going out Monday. So our first game, is it Wednesday? Yeah, yeah, yeah. So two days. We'll put this out as a clip, though, all of our predictions. England-Croatia. Croatia are old now, aren't they? Nah, that's a bit overhyped, that. Is it? Their main players from years gone by are aging. Modric is still doing it, though. Is Modric back from injury? I don't know. That's the one that no one's quite managed to find out yet. I haven't heard anything that he's out, but Kreischer have got tournament experience. They've got England dominance on us as well.
59:12What about how we were against New Zealand as well? I wouldn't worry about that. Irrelevant? It doesn't matter at all. Not really. All that was, that's like a training game to get used to the heat and the pitch. Exactly that. I wouldn't worry about that. You changed the whole team at half the time. That was all a little like, That was a training exercise. A glorified training exercise. I had Glenn Hoddle on a shoot today, and he made a really good point where it's a... One of the most important things about these tournaments is when you peak. You don't want to peak before. If you're peaking before, what does that mean?
59:43Which, by the way, England did under Southgate a lot. How bad were we in the group? We'd still get the win. And then, how good were we against Senegal, and then Sweden, and then even the Croatia game, we probably should have won that. Then it comes mentality side, experience. England were very good in that 28. You go look at that team. Every goal's a corner. Eric Dyer started. Ashley Young was still, it wasn't great. Lingard starts from the games. I think Dyer wore the armband for one game as well. Yeah. But to go back to your question, I think England will win every group game. Do you? Yeah. But...
1:00:17I think the theme of this World Cup is going to be, and you said something earlier about how boring the Brazil at Uruguay are going to see a lot of boring games because of the heat. Did you see all the rules that have come in for this one? Like time wastes and you've only got 10 seconds to take a throw in and subs. You only have 10 seconds to take a sub from the moment they're going. And if not, they don't have to wait a minute to come on. That's a red card, isn't it? You can't do that when talking. I've put, we're going to see, that's for a rogue prediction. I said we're going to see a few red cards with players covering their mouth.
1:00:49Yeah, because they're going to naturally just do it, aren't they, without thinking. They must be getting it drilled into them right now. That's what he says. Vinny Jr. and Benfica player, yeah. Because they could never prove what he said. Haven't they got a rule that they can put their hand up to say something, like he said something, they'll stop play. Wouldn't shock me. I mean, they've kind of always had that rule anyway. Well, supposedly they better stop a game if it's reported. It's going to take a brave ref to do it, though. in the World Cup to send someone off covering their mouth. I'm intrigued by the time-wasting one.
1:01:15And it depends how deep they want to take it because what if you do to your team, mate? Does it have to be reported? I don't know. Surely it's got to be a thing of like, oh no, he said something but he's covered it. And if you have, you know. I could see this becoming quite a controversial part of the World Cup. Can you? You can see that. Yeah. I think that's a good shout. Yeah. I think that's a good shout. But I think the heat's going to be a massive factor in this World Cup. That's why I think the time-wasting bits... I wouldn't be back in any like South American teams could be quite fun. I think the South Americans are going to really...
1:01:44Ecuador's an interesting one. Japan will deal with the heat. Japan are a real underdog. Spain and Portugal will be fine in the heat. The French should be. I think the English, the Germans, the Dutch will struggle. They'll go big time. Because, especially England, we aren't a team who keep the ball. No. A lot of running after it. Like I said about PSG, teams who dominate, Spain are just going to run teams ragged because when you're chasing the ball in 33 degree heat. They've mentioned it themselves. that's what the whole friendly was for like it was to get used to the heat Tuchel's mentioned it Harry Kane's mentioned it that's why he's picked the squad he's picked they're all athletes yeah yeah true right give me some scorelines then because if it comes off Croatia 2-0 England Croatia 2-0 England I think it'd be quite boring I think it'd be quite boring maybe nervy but I think they'll get it 2-0 I like 2-0 I'll be agreeing on it yeah you can I was gonna go 1-1 I'm going 1-0 England if we don't if we don't win that first game I think that could do some really like I think it would be you think 1-1's rogue?
1:02:39No, no, I said it's not right. Oh, right, okay. By the way, no, if we don't beat Croatia, I wouldn't worry one bit. Would you not? No. I think if we, no, no, I worry how it will be reacted to. As in like media and all that kind of stuff. But we drew to Tunisia the first in 2018. We won just about. Because that was one of the weird feelings. It was like, England don't normally do that. And then it got everyone. And that's the whole thing that started everything kind of going for England that tournament. I wouldn't worry one bit if we drew. If we lost, I would. but that's our hardest game of the group as well isn't it and the next two will win easy to be honest you've got to be really really bad to not make it through to the knockout stages this way yeah it's mad you only need to win one game literally so are we saying Croatia's the hardest game definitely yeah by far is it by far yeah I'm going 1-1 what are you saying 1-0 did you say yeah I'm going 1-0 England I think we'll score early and then that'll just be that I can't deal with those games I actually did I'm not going to plug it.
1:03:38I did a thing the other day where my prediction was a penalty awarded in this game. England always get penalties at major tournaments. And we've got wingers who are like getting the, and Croatia, I think two of their last four games have had penalties. Either four or against. And all this research. he knows his shit. All for a bet. Yeah. It was for a betting company. I've got to give my tips. England v Ghana. What's your score prediction, Tom? I'm going to go 2-0 again. 2-0 England. I think 2-1 maybe. in this one. That is one I'll be disappointed if we can see to them. They're obviously missing Kudus as well, who's one of the most important players.
1:04:16He has gone now, hasn't he? Or has he not? He's out injured, is he? He's ACL, isn't he? No, but isn't he... Hasn't he gone with the squad? What? Because he's just... Isn't he a bit like Neymar, where they've took him and he might be ready for the knockout? I don't think he'll play against England, but... Kudus... I might have made that up. Stevie, what's your score prediction on that? I'm going 3-0 England. 3-0 England? I think after if I'm going off the 1-1 I think if we draw 1-1 that next game is going to be like look we're good we can do this so I'm going 3-0 I'm going 0-0 oh my god you traitor that I'm not wearing the Maradona jumper I don't think he's gone no he hasn't I don't think he's gone but they've got Semenya they've got Anaki Williams as well they've got a few good players Jordan Ayer he's back god imagine Jordan Ayer he scores we won't we will beat them comfortably We should do.
1:05:07England-Panama last game should already be through. We should be looking to score more than we did last time. I disagree. Because he's going to... Oh, you think he rests them? We shouldn't play any player in that game. If we're already through. We will be already through. That is a good point. If we've won the first two games, I don't want to see Kane, Rice, any of them on that pitch. Give Watkins a run out. I think players like Watkins and stuff are still going to do a great job. Not in that game, no. What's the point? And also, let's be honest, the B team of England should be beating Panama.
1:05:37They will beat Panama. 4-0. Okay, 4-0. 4-0. Yeah. Have you seen Panama crap? I know, but you've just said that you don't want any of our main players out there. Yeah, our B team is... Not even matter if you start on the right wing, Rashford starting on the left, if it's not Gordon. Or Gordon, or Watkins. Rogers in the midfield. England will batter Panama. They should easily beat Panama. I just really struggle to be that, like, we're going to be amazing. It's Panama. I know. I don't think you understand how bad they are. I know, but... It's honestly, genuinely like... I think we'll win it. They're like a League Two team.
1:06:09We beat them 6-1 last time, didn't we? Yeah, Harry Kane scored that hat. Wasn't it 6-0? Did they score? I think they might have scored in the end, yeah. I remember in celebration, someone whilst doing that, hit my eye, not my contact. 6-1. Caught it midway, and then I hugged him as we'd like celebrate. He dropped it again. Yeah, he dropped it again. I can't see. Yeah, 6-1. Kane scored a hat trick, yeah. And the third one comes off of someone else shooting, and hits the back of his boot and chips the key. Yeah, it does. I'm going 3-0 on that one. 3-0. Again, so 1-1, 3-0, 3-0. I actually do agree with Tom, to be fair.
1:06:40If they're changing it, I'd still say at least 4-0. 4-0. 4-0 plus. 1-0 Panama. Jack? 0-0. I'm going to go 3-0. 3-0 England. There we go. Big question. Are England going to win the World Cup, Zach? Yeah. Yeah, 100%. We've got to believe. Even if I haven't got the top on, guys, we've got to believe. That's why I'm doing it. I'm trying to like counteract it essentially. I think that's the beauty of it. Even if we are shit, I'm going to say it. Like that's the fun of it. But do you believe it in your heart? I do. No. I would. I believed it more six months ago. I would. Yeah. I didn't even hate the squad that much.
1:07:22Like I don't necessarily think Palmer or Foden should have gone either. Like I just, I don't know. Like again, bits about the heat of the World Cup. stuff like that I know some people do like laugh at it and like Lies for instance like every time I bring it up basically laughing out of the room right but I do genuinely think it's a major factor it is it's a massive factor what I will say though the same was in 94 in USA they all said it was like unbearable we didn't obviously get to go be in England but like I do think the players obviously there's so many players that have won things this season Villa players winning it in Europe Arsenal Arsenal winning the Premier League Man City boys winning the domestic double Palace so a lot of these guys Palace exactly yeah winning trophies they've got that kind of winning mentality and I do maybe this is something we could differ on this Thomas Tuchel like having experience as a Chelsea fan knockout football is his fucking bread and butter yeah like this is what he lives for he analyses oppositions like to the nth degree finds out their weaknesses and does really well at making the players believe in him yeah I've seen all the little clips coming out they get me hyped he really he's amazing at making like a fan feel like oh my God, he's got them.
1:08:31And for also him to drop some of the plays he's dropped, I think they must make the likes of Morgan Rogers, like guys who kind of replaced them, feel like 10 feet tall. Oh my God, he's dropped him for me. I'm going in for this. We're doing this. I'm battling for him. Also with Tuchel, he's not English. So he actually, he's not wrapped in the whole love affair of, which maybe Southgate I think could have got drawn into. and I'll get he's just looking at it as a completely unbiased down the middle this is what I think this is my plan so that's where I think you could be right with Tuchel I just think I just think he won't we won't get past the heat that is generally because we don't play possession football I think a team who possesses the ball is going to win it that's just my it's good hearing two people that actually know about football because if comments might say otherwise yeah I was going to say because imagine if we tried to talk like that we just couldn't do it Seth's coming home mate I'd go Tuchel's good because he won with Chelsea that time, didn't he?
1:09:29He did. There's obviously, there's clearly a master plan in place with Tuchel with his squad. There's a clear, he's gone with, he's gone with players who can play multiple positions, players who are fit as a fiddle, athletes. He doesn't want your Palmers and your Fodens because that's not, in his opinion, what's going to, he knows we can't win the World Cup by out-possessing teams. We can't do that. We're going to be high tempo, overrun them. And to do that, you need Jed Spence who can replace Nico O 'Reilly in the 70th minute I've heard his justifications for bringing people like that and they all make sense it does make sense with Southgate trying to get too many stars into it we had it with Foden at the Euros playing him on the wing that left wing during the Euro just the amount of I'm still a little bit worried about the left wing to be fair the overlap there's no one overlapping really unless even O 'Reilly I don't think you'll need it though because the likes of if Rodgers is in the 10 he'll fill that left side because Kane's going to drop deep you'll have Gordon or Rashford and Saka going in behind and then Madweki and then whoever doesn't play.
1:10:32I think Gordon will start or we'll play majority of games because of his defensive work. And then Rashford's your magic man to come on and win your games. A lot of people, I think, especially in football now, there's a mentality of like, it's not about the starting 11. It's a team. It's also like the finishers. Bringing on Rashford on the 60th minute, if you can sell that to him, it's like, you might not be starting, but you are still so important. the squad is so important because of how many games there is as well yeah and I had this argument the other day about Madweki like I'm telling you now most fullbacks at the World Cup who in the 70th minute see him coming on will go oh god like because all he does is get the ball and run it yeah and like sound like a broken record but in that heat and your legs are gone it's like oh god give me a break and then you give away a foul whereas like Palmer or Foden they want to get the ball and they want to play they do they do honestly fullbacks would be more like breathing out because they're not going to just get the ball like Gordon Rashford all they're going to do is get the ball and run at you I'm team Bowen though I know I mean Bowen's just not that level is he unfortunately maybe when he moves to Liverpool Chelsea he's going to stay at West Ham do you think he'll stay should you have a bet yeah do you want to have a bet £100 I bet you Bowen stays okay so it doesn't matter where he goes you win either way there so it doesn't matter where he goes he won't go he'll just take West Ham back up and then it'll be supposedly they've they're going to pay him whatever anyway yeah which is quite a big thing you've seen that and then you've still Shrikazam how old is he what 30?
1:12:0429 right in modern football right look at Gordon he's just gone to Barcelona for what 80 million 70 million and people are going oh good because in the modern day your wingers need to be unbelievable athletes that's what they look for Boeing's not that that's why he'll never be a top and finish though can't he yeah but you've got to get in that position for the top teams he won't be there fair enough fair enough oh sorry bonus to stride for Liverpool predict the World Cup final if this comes off it'll be a bang so I think it is I'm trying to remember like how the brackets work I've got mine if you want I did it earlier Spain and yours Spain and I was it was Spain-Portugal but I just can't get out my head Martinez and Ronaldo people love Portugal Portugal's midfield is really good The midfield's really good.
1:12:55The defence aren't bad either. And the goalie's pretty good. Nuno Mendes is great. Diaz. Yeah. Diaz had an amazing season. Yeah, but there's not many better centre-halves at the World Cup than him. He's getting at him. By name, yes. Do you think there's a world in which Portugal win the World Cup? Yes. Do you? If there's no... No. Yes, if he doesn't play Ronaldo. He's going to play Ronaldo. Is Ronaldo that much of a hindrance now at his eyes? It's sad. Did you see his run in the friendly? The header. Yeah. And he's going to be on every set piece when they've got Bruno Fernandes, who should be taken.
1:13:32Yeah, yeah. He's going to be a detriment. He is actually going to be a detriment to them. He might not be in the group stages because he'll get chances and he'll finish them because that's what he does. Yeah. And to me, someone who grew up on Ronaldo, loving him, idolising him, copying his boots, the way he had his tape, to see him now where I'm just like, just hang the boots up, buddy. It's actually a bit sad to see. he'll never wreck his legacy because it's so but it is a bit like mate you're just hindering your legacy here just leave the football before the football leaves and you've got Ramos who's like a good striker he plays for PSG like last World Cup scored an act trick like I just think that could be and Roberto Martinez I just don't rate at the top there he's a bit like Southgate I think where he just wouldn't get him over the line I've gone Spain Argentina I think Argentina are still a good bet I think they'll be I think they'll beat us in the semis Spain's beat Argentina I think people might have a little slight I think because Messi's been in the MLS for a few years people have kind of been like oh he's done now I think quite easily he could end up shocking Alvarez is on fire Enzo Fernandes had a great season Nico Paz they can bring up Romero Martinez they've still got a good team it's also still a lot of the same team that won it in a few years and the pressure's off they've done it so it's kind of a free it but no team's ever retained it have they since 60 it was Brazil or Uruguay might have been Uruguay honestly it's been the original one 60s or something I don't know Zach who's your final if you're you know what to give us hope despite not wearing a shirt I'll say Spain England Euros repeat repeat yeah again I don't know if that's how it can work we both agree have you got France Spain and you're the semi yeah if that's how the brackets are you think Spain will be France yeah I think I actually think France might might end up kind of being a bit of a disappointment.
1:15:21They've always got it in them to blow up funds. I think Germany could end up being a disappointment again and they've done that in the last few years now. I think France could do it. Obviously, any team that's got Mbappe is going to... He could be a hindrance though. He has kind of missed the World Cup for them. No, 100%. But I mean in the sense of he's going to play down the middle which he's going to take away from Dembele. Not down the left? Do you think he put Dembele for the left? No, I think it's going to be Dembele, Elisa and then him. I can see them putting him back in the left. Cherky I think in the turn.
1:15:47maybe if he does that then yeah but I don't know and then yeah Germany I feel like a few people have rated them but they're my flops are they Germany right yeah let's get your quick quick answers so giant or flops Germany Germany Germany or France I think Germany yeah I mean Germany Germany's big one is like they've not been good for ages now like at tournaments and all their main players have had terrible seasons Havertz Musial has been injured all season and Wurtz has been off. Has Kimmich done much? No, Kimmich is always, yeah, he's always great. There's one youngster from Bayern, Carl, who's like, might be playing on the right wing.
1:16:24He's just been, he's out for the World Cup. He's injured now. Right. So he's not even there to kind of be a bit of a shining light. They're relying a lot on Kai Avertz and then Undav, the boy that was at Brighton for a long time. He's at Stuttgart. He's at Stuttgart. He's actually been pretty good this season. He's scored a lot of goals, I know, yeah. But whether he does that at the World Cup. Do you want to pick a flop? I didn't even. Did you do a bracket? Because my bracket that I did looked like it was wrong. Because one side was so heavy. Do you know what ruins it? Because you have to pick your third.
1:16:51The third kind of ruined it. But you don't know because that's going to go on goal score. Mine was quite weird, but it basically meant all the heavy hitters were on the right. So I knocked England out like before the quarters. Yeah, I did round a second. By Portugal, I think. England to Spain. You don't think England will win the group? I can't remember now If Spain and England have won the group they won't We're due to play Mexico in the round of 16 Oh no sorry round of 16 yeah you're right she was round of 32 now Yeah So you might be right actually But I think mine ended We're due if it goes the way people think we're due to play Mexico in Mexico That's a nerdy game That's a tough game England aren't bad shouts for flops by the way Yeah My final My final I'd put Spain-Brazil oh okay oh Brazil Brazil's up there for me for a flop oh I don't think Brazil was up there for a flop because of the thing I did Brazil had a fairly easy run compared like they had Germany and stuff which I don't think will do well yeah so yeah Brazil were my finalists France went out in the semis I think the one most have done is we have Mexico in the round of 16 and then Brazil in the quarters I'll buy backers to beat Brazil they're a funny old team Brazils it's not like terrible it's like got some fun players in there alright how about this who's going to shine for England pick a rogue Morgan Rodgers Morgan Rodgers O 'Reilly O 'Reilly at left back for us Morgan Rodgers he's already had a great year I think if England win it I've had a little bet on Morgan Rodgers golden ball 66 to 1 because Tuchel loves him he does love him loves him I think so but I don't know he's going to bench he may even play him off the left I think I think Rodgers starts regardless in the first game so your tip for player of the tournament is no no no Yamal will be playing the tournament but if if England win it I think Rodgers will be our main man.
1:18:38Just, it's a little fun. I'm not, I wouldn't, I wouldn't put my life on it, but I like it. Three pounder. Yeah. O 'Reilly, yeah, O 'Reilly for me. Great year, like England, I think the left back position has actually been a position that's kind of haunted England for a little while now. I think, yeah, he wouldn't shock me. And who's your player at a tournament, Zach? For England, if we win it? No, just, your man. Your man. We've all put Spain in the final. He's just like, a joke, man. And he's Adidas. Yeah Yeah And then finally Last question is What's one bizarre Thing that you can see happening Obviously we're never Going to get this right Senegal win it Senegal win it You said that there'll be A red card for the hand Over the mouth Yeah but I think Lukaku's going to get The golden boot Swear my life But where are you Putting Belgium to go out I think Belgium Will get to like the quarters But have you seen Belgium's group They've scored quite a few I guess Most players who win The golden boot Get all their goals in the groups and if he's look he's not been fit he's only just come back from injury but they don't really have any other option up front he'll take penalties I can see Belgium winning all their group games like 3-4-0 I can see them getting six goals five six goals in the group Doc who gets six assists Doc who's on fire Trossard's had a good season mate they've got New Zealand Iran and honestly it's shocking New Zealand's a hard game mate Egypt New Zealand Iran Wow Egypt, New Zealand around and Belgium Belgium's team's alright I thought Belgium were always the big flops weren't they they underperformed now they've kind of gone past that everyone's kind of forgetting about them they've got an easy group they've got players in form Tielemann's had a great season Docky a great season Trossau a great season they've still got Courtois in goal they've still got some good players I agree they're a little sneaky De Bruyne will be still yeah De Bruyne will be playing yeah I just think the obvious one I think is Mbappe but again I could see Belgium could as well to be fair but I just don't think they've got any other forwards I could see like Kane and Mbappe not playing the last group games to rest yeah yeah yeah okay that does make sense fair enough fair enough mine is I think if Portugal win I show speed will have something to do with the trophy he'll be on the pitch he'll be the salt bay he'll be the salt bay yeah yeah yeah boys it's been a pleasure thanks for coming on thank you mate thanks for having us hopefully England bring it home None of us said that they would.
1:21:05Did you? It's coming home, baby. Okay. We thought we put Spain to win it. The one guy who's not in England. Yeah, but he doesn't actually believe. Algeria to win the World Cup. Let's do it. Zach, if people want to check out your content who haven't seen it already, where can they go? Just my name, Zach Jellib, YouTube, TikTok, all that good stuff. And yeah, you can watch Tom Garrett call people out for their shit for football opinions. Yep. Or mine is shit as well. Love it. It's some of my favourite content to watch at the moment. Thank you, Matt. I appreciate that. Get you on one if you want.
1:21:28Yeah, I'd love to, mate. I just don't know enough about ball. You sit in the 20 and then just like whoever's there you can just come up and come rubbish. I'll do that. And Tom people already know you've been on before but Pitchside Yeah Pitchside teed off new golf channel get on that. Backside the lot yeah all of it there's a new channel coming as well EFL show on Pitchside for the new season. I like it. I like it. There we go guys this has been the World Cup 2026 special with Zach Tom me Jack mate and Stevie White we'll finish on the chant. I want to be a Chelsea Ray. I'm so ready to say it's coming home.
1:22:04I thought it was going to get Stevie. Why, why, why? Now, guys, what is this? This is a weird bit, isn't it? We never normally do this after the outro. You thought the episode was done. Zach and Tom have left. But we've got another lovely human with us. It's Harry Moulding, who you may recognise from Britain's Got Talent. You won it, mate. Thank you. It's great to be here. Thanks so much for having me. on by the way no mate pleasure now i do feel a bit bad because you did just tell us that you've come from blackpool blackpool yeah because i've come with a reason and we'll get into that in a second i'm not here empty-handed is all i'm gonna say love it now harry for anyone who doesn't know me he's a magician a brilliant magician and uh you emailed me recently and said look i've got this mad trick i want to do and you out of all the podcasts in all all of the land you chose our podcast to do it on yeah well you know exactly that yeah yeah that's making me think there was rejection from other podcasts now um you're gonna predict the world what are you gonna predict the world cup winner the world cup final well this is it right so basically i've been a massive fan of the pod for so long.
1:23:19And my career and the type of magic that I do is always predicting things. Right. So my time on Britain's Got Talent, I was predicting things that happen in the future, the time before that. And now, what actually happened was I saw a couple of guys chatting about the World Cup the other day and then it just came to me that this would be the perfect opportunity to make a prediction around the World Cup. Not just the World Cup, but who's going to win and more importantly, how it's going to happen. Wow. What? Okay. I'm going to just leave that one there for a minute. Because you're not going to tell us today, are you?
1:23:52No, I'm not going to tell you today. However, when it came to me, I wrote it down. I sealed it. I placed it inside of a bottle. Okay. I have brought this exact bottle with me. I like the look of it. Is that wax sealed as well? Boys, so that I can't get inside of it. More importantly, so that I can't change my mind, I have placed it in there and wax sealed it so it is sealed. I'm trying to see if I can have a little look because I want to put a bet on you. Try under the bottom. There's no way you're getting in there or seeing what it is. That is solid. And if it's okay, this is what I'd like to propose.
1:24:30Can this stay with you until the end of the World Cup? Of course it can. So the reason I say I feel bad that you've come all the way from Blackport is we're just doing a short little bit today talking about the prediction, but you will be back on the show, right? So after the World Cup final, you're going to return. We're going to have more of a chat about you and your life and your career, but probably most importantly, we are going to open this bottle. And see, did I get it right? Yeah. So you've dated it as well. Yes, I put today's date just so we know. But as I say, I am now not going to touch it for the next six weeks.
1:25:00It is going to live with you. I don't know if there's somewhere where you want to leave it, somewhere that not you can go. I think we put it on our set, so it's directly behind us. So for any viewers, the only thing we... It doesn't fall. Yeah, we don't. Your choice. Put it on there. Six weeks is quite a long time. Yeah. So for some of our usual watchers, listeners, we have recorded some guest episodes and main shows that are due to go out after this episode. So if that bottle disappears, it's not because we've done anything sneaky. It's just pre-recorded episodes. You have our word. From the moment I've just placed that on there, we will not touch it.
1:25:34We will not move it. If it disappears, it's pre-recorded it. And the second thing is today is the 8th of June. You're hearing this on the... Show them the proof, Jack.
1:25:54There we go 100 % This is real
1:26:05So you might be hearing this on the 15th I believe this episode's going out Yeah, you're listening to it while the World Cup has just started But the World Cup hasn't started for us. But because we filmed episode 666, we had to do it this way round. If you pull this off, this might be the greatest moment of the podcast ever. Genuinely, this is probably going to be the biggest moment of my career and my life. As I say... Britain's Got Talent! I know, and that, believe me, there were times during Britain's Got Talent when it all nearly went wrong. Right. Multiple times. So have you ever got a prediction wrong then?
1:26:39Yeah, so in summary, I'll give you a quick one just before I come back. So when I was making some of the predictions on Britain's Got Talent, my final performance involved me jumping out of a plane, doing a skydive and predicting choices that were going to happen in the future during the air while I was falling out of the sky. That's how I choose to make my predictions on football and stuff as well. Yeah, exactly. On the way to paddy power, you jump out of the plane. And in summary, what happened was we were meant to be filming it on the Thursday. So the show, the final was on the Saturday. I'd been in the last semifinal.
1:27:13So there was a week between. I was in week five of the semis on this Saturday. The final was the next Saturday. And we had until the Thursday to film it. We woke up on the Thursday morning and it was too windy that the skydive place wouldn't open and said it was too dangerous to fly. This is two days before the live final. Had you skydived before that? No, no. So it was all a first. It was all on a massive scale. And when we got to the Thursday morning, they said, no, we said, what are the options? and they said you can either try and wait until tomorrow, but it's a gamble because then it's show day and it's too late or you do something else.
1:27:48So I spent that whole Thursday trying to make different predictions. I was looking at doing a bullet boat on the River Thames, the Houses of Parliament, trying to do these big rock climbing swims, anything on a big stunt that could make it work. Thankfully, the Friday, it was safe enough for us to do it and we could go and do it. But that was a prediction that nearly went wrong on a massive scale. It was the biggest moment of my life at the time. Right. And there we go. Yeah. If that bottle smashes, that is the same sort of level of danger here as the wind incident. Are you a football fan then?
1:28:20I'll be honest. I've never really had a massive football background. I can't lie. I got to do some, you know, I've been lucky enough to do some really cool and meet some cool football players through magic. Right. But I don't know much about it, which is why. But I had to sign and seal that as soon as it came. That makes it more mental. Yeah. So has it just got a team? Has it got the final? All I'm going to say is, I'll leave this as a little teaser, a little exclusive. It has got who is going to win the World Cup and how it will happen. How it will happen? Or score more goals than the other team?
1:28:53Well, I'm going to leave it there. There's ways of winning the final, isn't there? Right. It's all mapped out. And it is in that bottle. I'm excited. Are you excited? Yeah, if that's right, that's making me think football scripted, though. that's going to ruin football for me. Yeah. Well, so we give our predictions as well and then we can compare them to... That's a good idea. Yeah, go on. But you can't give anything away if we say anything similar to yours. No, poker face. Yeah. Just cough when we say the team. France, Spain. I've already said I think Spain are going to win. Yeah. Do you know what?
1:29:24I agree, but I'm going to change it now for the sake of the pod and I'm going to say Argentina and they're going to win in extra time. In extra time. Doesn't even get to... I'm going to say Spain in 90 minutes. Right. Okay. so the World Cup finals on the 19th of July you'll be back in this studio on the 21st of July and listeners you will hear the episode you'll hear all about Harry's life and you will find out if the prediction is real on the 23rd of July so we'll see you then we'll see you then see you then thanks for coming in mate thanks guys nervous nervous for you
