In short

The hosts catch up and trade stories: near-mugging in Barcelona (including a “maple raper” Canadian), eating seafood and trying to overcome a seafood phobia, getting a wart on their hand, attending a motorbike meet-up, reacting to viral food videos (Coleman’s mustard; JJLA React; “Norwich” ghost/food content), and home maintenance chaos involving a bat box and a neighbor’s driveway. They also discuss niche passions and inclusivity in “metal” communities.

Guests

None. The episode is hosted by Robbie Knox, Stevie White, and Jack Mate (three-person panel).

Key claims

Barcelona locals can be hostile to tourists; pickpocket/mugging risk exists even mid-day; “white leathers” at biker meets signal attention-seeking; warts can “sprout up” as you age; Taylor Wimpy doesn’t respond; bat boxes are common on new builds and cement can fail.

Notable examples

A Canadian man allegedly spits on people and uses racist slurs (“maple raper”); two men appear to signal an attempted watch snatch; a motorbike meet includes Blues Brothers tribute cars; a viral mustard reaction video; granddad removes failing bat-box cement by swinging a stick like a baseball bat.

1:11jack mate's happy hour hello guys welcome back to jack mate's happy hour podcast it's the three of the best people on god's green earth coming in your ears right now it's robbie knox stevie white and me jack mate we are aren't we i just like that he laughed at coming in your ears that's a good start i didn't know if it was that you were laughing at or the fact that i called us three of the best people on God's green earth. It's a huge claim. It's a huge claim. I think it's a combination of the image of a bat and the ears. It is God's... They say God's green earth. It's not green, is it? Because 80 % of the world's water.

1:47Yeah, most of it. Maybe God doesn't want anything to do with that. Yeah, he hates the ocean. Yeah. He's scared of... That's why he didn't give fish legs. That's a good point. It's a good point. Now, boys, it's been a while since we've seen each other. It's been... What, has it been a few weeks? Yeah. Had it well, yeah. Looking well. Thank you. Yep. You still not had haircut? No. Well, so I thought today we'd just do a little all caught up, but just relax into it today. It's Monday. It's the start of the working week for many, so they can just hear us just ponder over what we've been up to. Have you done a lot?

2:19It has been a while. I've done a lot of sort of nothingness. Same. Yeah. You've been places, though. Where have I been? I've been to Japan, and we spoke about that weeks ago. You've been to Barcelona? Barcelona. Yeah. I went to Barcelona. That was good fun. Good. good gaffe innit one of the best gaffs I've never been oh why not I've never been Barca I'll take you one time I need to fly somewhere with Robbie at some point as well maybe we should all go to Barcelona I'd love that I just want to see the king of airports I can't go now we're already one minute into the airport I should be shut like that and we leave after a minute one day we should do that and then we should leave the podcast and then we should go somewhere and just make it up on the date vlog it and when people click on the podcast it just turns into a vlog and then they have the vlog to watch.

3:04They'd probably quite like that. Yeah. Weird as a podcast they'd have to watch it rather than listen. No, because we vlog it but we vlog it in describing what we're doing. Yeah. How are the prawns there, Stevie? Yeah, we have to have a little bit of production about it. Yeah, yeah. Okay. Have our thinking cap on it. Put your producer's brain on, Steve. Okay, I like it. Barcelona's cool. It is a shame that they fucking hate tourists. Well, the locals hate them. I don't know if they do. I think some people, there's stuff about it there but I think everyone I've met is like me. Everyone's polite, but there's a lot of graffiti, isn't there?

3:36There's like tourists, pig, go home. There's bits, but I don't know. Yeah, but we've said this before. You're ambiguous with, like, people will assume you're Spanish. You're racially ambiguous, aren't you? I'm an international comedian. Yeah. Yeah, so I think people... I can imagine you look like you're from Barcelona. I could be Spanish. I reckon you walk in places, order, and they go, he's good at English. Yeah. When I was in Moldova the other week, I was there for three days and every day I'd go to the thing and I would ask I'd just ask by saying the name of the thing and after three days the woman said to me Moldovan?

4:11I was like no she went oh I didn't know if you're from Moldovan I was like well you must know I'm not Moldovan after three days what you went to the same place every day? yeah actually two days it was I'm lying about three yeah yeah well this is what I mean ethnically ambiguous you could fit in anywhere yeah so he gets away with it but I've as I said I've never been to Barcelona I've been with friends who, like, Bev looks very not. She's very sort of blonde. Northern. White. Yeah, you look less Eastern European. You could never be from Ukraine. I could be from Ukraine. No, you've not got Scandinavian about you either, have you?

4:49That's what I meant. You've not got the blonde element. No, I don't look particularly Scandinavian. You're Western Europe. I could be Eastern Europe as well. If you said I was from Turkey, you could believe that. Right, let's do this. Greece as well. Yeah. I'm going to say countries. You've got to say whether Robbie fits it, right? Okay. Turkey. I like with the shirt and everything he's got going right now, a little bit of a tan as well. This is a perfect time to do it. Turkey? Yes. Greece? Yes. Colombia? Yes. Mexico? Yes. Uganda? No. Poland? No. Wales? Yeah. Yeah, Ian Rush. Let's go Slovenia.

5:29I couldn't. Yes. Yeah. Yes. Yeah. Hungary. Yeah. Budapest. Yeah. India. No. China. No. Japan. No. Most, a lot of them though. Yeah. South Africa. Yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. But go back to Barcelona. Genuinely, I almost got mugs. Almost got mugged for my ones. That does happen. Yeah. I'd been warned about it a few nights before by a very horrible rapey Canadian guy. He was going, I'm going to mug you. No, he was a twat, by the way. I went with my cousin Sonny and we just ate and drank for four days. And we were on the seafront at one point having a sangria. And this Canadian guy came past and was like, hey, can I sit with you guys?

6:21I was like, yeah, fine. Bring a bit of life to this party. and he sat there. No offence. Wow. And he... I don't know who you are. You look horrible. I'm not happy with the situation, but you're going to be better than what I've got. So you just sit then. So he came and sat down. Is it just you and Sonny there? Yeah. To be honest, like, I was open to a third at the start. I was like, come sit down. He sat down, right? And he was, how can I describe him? So he was like, fairly good looking guy, probably about 45, 50. and he was it transpired that where is it burning and he was he was Canadian he was wearing like chinos nice fitted shirt and um he told us that he was like half Italian so I know Canada's obviously different to America but imagine one of these like New York and Italians that's what he reminded me of like he thought he was a soprano yeah he started saying that he had family that were in the mafia and that and he was like sitting with fucking jay from the in-betweeners for two for two hours and he said I got mugs and he was using some quite racist words to describe the people that mugged him okay and I thought right fair enough it's not racism never good but he's obviously lashing out because he's angry but I'll let it slide and then um I'll because he got racist again at the end and I didn't let that slide but at first so he's sitting there and he's sort of like leaning back and um he was talking about uh he was talking about party do you remember MCAT like that was a drug yeah yeah he was talking about that right and he was saying about the mcat like we had everyone done mcat he said i never did mcat and i was like all right fair enough um and then and because he was running on 100 miles an hour i thought this guy's on coke he's on mcat yeah so i don't know i don't know what mcat makes you what is mcat i don't know it's like it was a synthetic drug that was legal and it's like meth i think but so so he goes i i never i never did mcat so i just go to him have you done cocaine right and he lent into me and he went i just fucking told you this is the fifth thing he said to me he goes i just fucking told you i ain't done no drugs and i went well you didn't know did you you said you've never done mcat and i've asked about cocaine and i was like straight away i'm like it was quite loud in this place where we were so every time he was talking because he was so rude and a bit racist i just kept calling him a twat under my breath so it's a bit immature but like just but he'd be talking and he'd be talking at you and i'd be going you're a twat you are a twat like that and he just couldn't hear me and then what were you getting out of that and just sat yeah i can see that yeah could sunny see you doing it yeah i was doing it for sunny i was playing to the crowd of one and then so sunny was going he is he is sunny is a bit more tolerant of him though right and then and then he's mcat yeah he's racist but then he sort of leaned back on his chair he was talking about the women that he'd shagged and it didn't always sound consensual if I'm being honest I'm going to call this guy Stevie

9:32do you remember his name? no I'm going to call I think he was a rapist the maple raper that's what I'm calling him The maple raper. So this maple raper. Sounds like an urban legend. He was leaning back on his chair, right? And he kept doing this weird thing where he would spit in the fucking street. He's the worst cunt I've ever seen. This guy sounds awful. Mate, he's a prick, right? I mean, the fact that he hasn't got any mates to hang out with that just comes to join your group. Yeah, he said, my wife had enough. She's got a bed. I'm just, I'm hanging around. I was like, yeah, she's fucking leaving you, mate.

10:06I hope she's shagging a Barcelona holiday rep. Anyway, he's going back and he keeps going. And it's like the spit's coming out like a jet stream. Not like a gob, more of a spray. It's like using his tongue to... Yeah, he's going... And he turns to me, he goes, Sorry, I'm a spitter. What the fuck? Who is this gun? Right? And then, so he's going on and he's going, Yeah, I got mugged last night by a bunch of racist slur, racist slur. I'm just like, fucking hell. And then after about half an hour... I'm glad he got mugged. Yeah, I'm fucking glad. and then people don't say about the good muggings enough do they?

10:40no fair play to have a mug this cunt the maple raper and then so then after a while this guy comes this other guy comes over just goes guys can I sit there he was from Birmingham right so he had the English accents he was a brown guy right so he sat down and then maple raper over here Canadian cunt he leans back on his chair and I'm sort of just watching him I'm not drunk by this point by the way and I'm just sort of watching him and he leans back and he goes and he's being really cold to this guy i'm like this fucking guy's a prick and he goes i don't know how i feel about you man so what he said so i've gone why because you were fine with me and sunny so why and he goes it was you it was you guys that took my watch and i went what that was that was actually him that took your watch and then he was like no no it was those guys and i was like what do you mean i was away from mate and he went birmingham so it was a bunch of birmingham lads that took your watch and he was going no brown guys and i was like oh fuck this guy like i can't be there so so the brown guy gets up and walks off and i'm like i actually cannot he didn't know who i was but i cannot bear the thought that he thinks i'm with this cunt yeah so i just got up straight away i called the guy a prick i said you're a fucking twat mate i said you've been fine with me and sunny but you're kicking off at him i went you're a fucking melt I've walked off I've gone to the mate I was then going to go brown guy yeah I was like give him his watch back and we're fine so I've called him back I've made mate come here come here I go I just want to let you know that I'm not with that racist cunt over there and he was like he's odd isn't he so yeah he is fucking odd yeah that's such a polite way of putting it yeah when you called him a cunt and that guy I was like he's been spitting one thing I didn't tell you as well at one point Sonny went to the toilet this was before the other fourth guy came so just me me and Canadian cunt and he spits, right?

12:29And he gets it on my fucking arm. I'm not making any of this up, right? And I'm looking at, and I'm already hating at this point. And he goes, sorry, dude, just spat on you there. Yeah, I know. I can see it. That's why I look like this. So I tell the guy, we're not part of that, whatever. So he goes, I go back to the hotel room, night done. Anyway, next day, I almost got my watch. I'm pretty sure I did anyway so we go to the market you know the amazing market they have in Barcelona the undercover one yeah it's as good as Norwich market oh it's massive it's different yeah not if you want to get your shoes re-healed I don't think there's a place there for it so no Norwich wins that one so we're leaving at about 4 o 'clock we want to go and watch the playoff final so we're stood in the middle of like just this cobbled street middle of the day and i've got sunglasses on um some ray-bans so you can't really see where i'm looking right and then there's these two guys that come walking par sorry i don't know why it tickled me that you needed to name the brand i've got sunglasses on some ray-bans no just like they're good they're dark right yeah and then they're really good at good value as well and the metal ones have a small camera so you can film and so i'm stood there I'm booking an Uber, waiting for an Uber.

13:53And these two guys come past and they looked a bit dodgy, to be honest, right? And I'm sort of looking... What made them look dodgy? They just looked a little bit chavvy, right? So they looked a little bit like... Did they look like they were from Birmingham? Yeah. And so they're walking and I'm looking at them out the corner of my eye, but I'm keeping my head straight so they can't tell that I'm looking at them. Is it constantly in your head that this guy's told you about his watch? Yeah, I'm now on high alert. Yeah, he got... Yeah. and so I've got my watch on and I can see the two guys and they are fixated on my watch to the point where I had my hand down by myself and I pick my phone up to look at my Uber and I can see them just looking like that and they look at each other and I'm like they can't see I'm clocking them so I'm just like fucking hell right okay this is weird.

14:40They walk up an alleyway and then I'm turning around and looking at them. I didn't know at this point Sonny's looking at them as well. I think I'm just seeing this in my head and then two other guys come the other way and they nod and they point at me and then the two guys come like that and just as they're coming they're walking quite fast down and they're looking at me pointing i get in the taxi and then they walk up to the taxi as i'm getting in the door and then they go like they do like the hand signals to be like no it's like towards the neck like no it's that it's done it's done and then i get in the taxi and i'm like i think i've just witnessed them gonna mug me yeah and yeah and sonny turned to me and this was completely separate and he just went think them two blokes were going to try and rob you.

15:20And I was like, mate, I literally just see it. And then I go away and they do this big whistle to the two others and they turn and come back. And then they've got this office, like a little set up going, ready for people waiting there. Yeah. Probably tourists. There is a big, there's not really a big problem of people nicking. Bev had a bag nicked there before she met me. Really? It's quite, the group she's with, a lot of them did get their bags nicked, particularly around the ramble of the big touristy areas. Wow. I don't know what the situation is now, but I think there used to be an issue where they'd target holiday makers because then they wouldn't be there to go to court if they got caught and stuff like this.

16:00I think they then started doing online things or something to try and deal with it. I can't remember. It's been a while. Wow. Yeah. But yeah, it's a big issue. And they'd do that in the middle of the day, would they? That was like 4 p.m. Yeah, people would just grab it and run it. What would he down and get a knife out or something, you reckon? I think probably just grab it and run off, I think. I imagine. I think it's a lot of that. With bag snatching, that's a lot of stuff. grab it and run off fair enough but you had a good time in Barcelona rather than almost getting mugged with the maple raper I think we've discussed it in a pod that's been or a pod that's coming up but I ate a mussel ate a prawn still hate mussels and prawns the prawn like I said meaty covered in garlic butter so it was fine but didn't like chopping the head off and the mussel I hated because like I was trying to swallow it but it was it was like eating like an actual mussel like so it was like all stringy It was really tough.

16:50And I was chewing it. And Sonny put loads of, like, chilli vinegar on it or something. So that taste was fine. But the swallowing of it was fucking good. I don't think they're in season at the minute, Muscles. I don't know if it's different in Spain. But certainly in the UK, I think it's like September onwards or something. I think they're in season. Oh, right. Yeah. I don't know. Yeah, weren't great. But that was, yeah. What else did you eat there? Because it's good food. I ate a burger that they set on fire. Were they meant to? Yeah. He came out and he went up in fire. I ate a lot of steaks.

17:18tried a little bit of crab but I've had crab before crab is probably why are you trying to push towards seafood so much at the moment because I've realised it's not a dislike for the seafood but it's more of a phobia so I want to overcome the phobia and if I can get to a point where I can eat seafood even if I don't like it I'm fine with that I just don't like that I'm scared of eating something so yeah that's where I'm at but yeah it's a great place isn't it Barcelona owner absolutely great yeah i've been back for a year or so like that i'm desperate to get back again soon it's funny because every time i've been i've been four times i literally stay about an hour from the casino and i would just walk from the hotel to the casino every day and maybe a little bit on the seafront but this time we walked to like the rambler and we'd like walk through and i was like there's a whole new world out here like did you go joe was lovely just off the ramblers um plaza real there's a square just if you're coming up from the beach on the right inside a little square there with loads of bars and that.

18:13Did you go there? Yeah. Lovely. I saw it. Love that place. I did text you because I wanted to find out where the Pinchot stuff was, the little cocktail places. Yeah. Didn't get there. Got too drunk. Sad scene. Next time. When we go, we'll do it. You'd love Barcelona. I'm sure I would. Yeah, let's do it. Let's do it. Let's do a Barcelona trip. Yeah. And we'll do it. Yeah. We'll invite Alfie, but he probably won't come. Alfie won't come. He's away for a month. Let's do it soon. Okay. Let's do it soon. We literally only need to do one or two nights, don't we? Yeah, two nights. Yeah, two nights. Let's do it.

18:41Let's do it. What have you been doing, Stevie? I think I've got a wart coming on my hand. Oh, mate, me too. Oh, that is a hench one. Look, it's really sore. I keep wanting to, like, rip it off. Did you accidentally just touch your dick or something? No, that's caked in them. That's some of the warts. But yeah, I think it is. Is that a wart? Because I thought it was just calluses at first, and then it's just growing and growing. I think I need to get is it a Veruca Bazooka that Veruca I need to get that yeah not a brand deal either mental that that's you're all caught up you said I'm sorry but when I said it you got well excited are we still recording here is it part of the episode yeah yeah yeah it's just sorry I'm just playing with it constantly it's really annoying me people like us don't play with your leave the wart where's yours isn't that how you transfer warts by touching yeah and he keeps tapping me on the shoulder you're gonna get different hands yeah but I don't care you've touched the wart I've got wart spores on the hand yeah you've no it has been there about Jack warts?

19:35No, it's been there about two weeks. It's not transferred anywhere. Except the thing I said. Gross. No, I don't have any warts. Like, I'm wart free. You literally said me too. No, no, no, no, no. Because what I do, right? Like, this is a thing, yeah? So, I've been like, I don't know if you can see that tiny little dot there. Yeah. Yeah, that, right? So, this is a thing. As I'm getting older, I find that I keep getting like new little warts sprout up, right? But, Why do you have so many warts? Bite them off. what bite them off no don't do it now when I get wart tongue yeah but that's warts on the tongue are fine but yeah I just I just sort of bite them off whenever I feel so is this one of those things where I've not been here and you've arranged to talk about warts for 20 minutes no no why I can't fake that Robbie I just think the listeners are like Monday morning whacking the ears they don't want to hear stories of fucking us going to a world cup final and hanging out with Jay-Z do you know what I mean they want to hear real things.

20:30That's because all the people who hang out with Tracy and that no one never interested in those things, are they? They always do. Okay, do you want me to tell you about something else? Yeah. I went to a motorbike meet-up. So long you had the water.

20:44I had it at the meet-up, actually. Did you? Right. Hang on, you were at a motorbike meet-up. Why don't you get a motorbike meet-up? Well, you've got to picture it, though. I am. I fit in, don't I? You're in chaps. Do I fit in? What are you wearing? What were you, the stripper? I was kind of dressed like this, to be honest. I looked like a nutter. Because I drove there. What was the reason you were there? Can I guess? Yeah. Did Ariane have a gig there or something? Okay. Did Isaac want to see some motorbikes? No, he couldn't give a shit. He actually hated it. All right, I give up. Why did you go?

21:15Can I have a random guess? Yeah. Your dad wanted to go. My dad. Is he into motorbikes? So my dad has a motorbike, Clive Cliff, and he goes to this meet pretty much every week. and he's been asking me to go for a while. Where is it, Loey? No, it's like north of, it's like almost as far as Yarmouth. It was like a 40 minute drive. Fuck me. But he's been asking me to go for ages and I've been unavailable, happy hour or whatever. And I just had this one free Thursday and I was like, you know what? Let's just do it. So Ariane, Isaac and I get in the car and drive 40 minutes. Don't drag them along, mate.

21:52Well, I thought that they do like a big, it's like a big barbecue and everything so it might be cool like not the i don't care about the motorbikes but it might just be quite a nice thing yeah i cannot believe how much of a big thing this was like you know like we've spoken about car meets before where they're all just in a car park and there's like eight cars all revving their engines hundreds hundreds upon hundreds of people queues massive to get like they did like a big smoke barbecue they had a blues brothers tribute act performing. He sent me a video. I sent Robbie a photo of the, because Robbie said on a previous podcast that Blues Brothers is one of his favourite films.

22:27They had the Blues Brothers car with the huge speaker on top of it and they had these old timey police cars and stuff. It's quite cool to see all these things they put on for it. It's a huge thing they do. Cars stuff's massive. People love cars. Yeah, I just didn't expect it to be as mental as it was. Like, completely packed. With everyone wearing leathers and shit. I get so many headaches every month. It could be chronic migraine, 15 or more headache days a month, each lasting four hours or more. Botox, on a botulinum toxin A, prevents headaches in adults with chronic migraine. It's not for those who have 14 or fewer headache days a month. Prescription Botox is injected by your doctor. Effects of Botox may spread hours to weeks after injection causing serious symptoms. Allerge your doctor right away as difficulty swallowing, speaking, breathing, eye problems or muscle weakness can be signs of a life-threatening condition.

24:00Patients with these conditions before injection are at highest risk. Side effects may include allergic reactions, neck and injection site pain, fatigue and headache. Allergic reactions can include rash, welts, asthma symptoms and dizziness. Don't receive Botox if there's a skin infection. Tell your doctor your medical history, muscle or nerve conditions, including ALS Lou Gehrig's disease, myasthenia gravis or Lambert-Eaton syndrome, and medications, including botulinum toxins, as these may increase the risk of serious side effects. Why wait? Ask your doctor. Visit BotoxChronicMigraine.com or call 1-800-44-BOTOX to learn more.

24:32Mate, I cannot tell you how much I did not fit in. Like, I was so, so the odd one out. But also... Oh, you had Ariana and Isaac. It is. But it's genuinely... Did Isaac fit in? yeah genuinely like when you picture all these bikers and stuff you're picturing these hard men and levers and stuff it's just so cute it's so cute all these proper hard leather men meeting up together and they're all just pointing at each other's bikes going oh that i really like that bit like when i was talking to dad a couple of men came and i was stood near dad's bike and a couple of men a couple of men just came and stood in front of dad's bike and they kept like pointing at parts of his bike whilst jack dad and i just spoke and dad didn't even acknowledge them because it's just normal they'll all go around i could hear them being like oh it's this engine it's got this it's got this and they're just talking about it then they just move on and start looking at someone else's bike i love that i love yeah i love that people have found their thing yeah and it's so cute but the things i will point out that i fucking hate is firstly any guy who wears white leathers you're doing it to stand out right out of hundreds of bikers there three people in white levels everyone else in black they're the racist ones the only the only reason you're wearing them is because you want to be looking different yeah is that bad to turn away from the crowd no they no because they were like they were they weren't your normal bikers the ones in the white levels were like pretty boy bikers i've got no bit clean shaven slicked back hair what and then the whites yeah but even before you said that i had a theory white leathers strikes me a little bit camp where they're gay bikers no i was thinking more not real bikers but they're they're like you're pretty boys who go to nightclubs who want to seem cool outside of that that's more that vibe it was like proper like what so they're a bit young and a bit in shape yeah yeah right yeah like young early 20s bikers and like you'd see them walking through the crowd like they know people are looking at yeah didn't like that right two other things i hated whilst i was there the people who yeah and the bikes there would be no no one the only time people have their bikes on is to get there and park up and rev up in it every now and then someone would rev up but no one would really pay any notice because you're doing it surrounded by other people who have the same thing as you right so you're just doing it and people are just going like even the bike someone else is going can i hear your engine but every other biker there is just like look you could see people just being like like it's quite annoying there's a band on playing live music and stuff and you're just going and it's like everyone has the same thing as you you're not cool here yeah you're all doing the same thing right it's like a footballer going up to another footballer and doing a few kick-ups i'm going look what i just did now go yeah i could do that as well yeah but if you were at a skills convention which i imagine the bikes like being at a bike convention if you went to a football skills convention there was a guy doing keep it up she'd go look at that guy it's cool yeah maybe i don't know i didn't get it it's less noisy yeah yeah yeah but i didn't get it especially when they had live music on yeah then that might be annoying but they had live music on and all these other things didn't like that and then the worst thing we saw which i actually spoke to another biker going what the fuck is he doing some guy another biker like your one that's been one of my fellow bikers i became one hello fellow bikers i um there was a guy who rather than revving was actually making his wheel turn whilst holding his brake smoke was going everywhere and like other bikers were just kind of like because he's like obviously revenant trying to wheel spin and the guy was just going he's just ruining his tire right now for the sake of showing people smoke but again you're doing it around every other person who owns a bike here can do what you're doing right now except they're not going to because they're not fucking idiots who were trying to ruin just to show off in front of other people who can do the same thing there's no smoke without tires as well is there very clever that's good very good so yeah i thought that that there's a few things that but other than that it's really wholesome and like like even though you picture like these scary bikers and stuff they're just the nicest people i went into the bar um because my dad fucking loved that whole thing and the the where the pub is it's like a proper like american diner style yeah which has got like a smokehouse the whole biking thing is like um it is kind of like an american thing like the harley oversons and stuff like that yeah and i think people will have that kind of thing in their mind that it is these like scary biker men but like when i went into the bar um there was like a huge sign on the wall saying we don't accept any discrimination all inclusivity and stuff and like lgbt stuff and stuff and i was like that's quite quite a nice place to be you do often find that like people who look a certain way like bikers and uh like truck drivers and stuff like this and punk rockers yeah people covered in tattoos covered in tattoos they're often the most accepting metal crowds are lovely yeah yeah yeah so i did think that was really nice and like i gave me like a although i didn't look like i fit in yeah no one like pointed it out or anything you'd see people being a bit like he clearly doesn't have a bike yeah but other than that yeah you just took like a barrel back yeah i was probably judging more than them saying that i was the prick it's it's don't doubt it right we're saying that's like this big twist that we didn't realize what yeah it's weird i think i spoke about this before on the pod but like being young and being like a judgy teen i used to look at people that were like so fascinated by things that i didn't like and think of it as a bad thing like like yucking their yums yeah that was yeah and yeah like i spoke about warhammer before and stuff like that but i think it's actually so cool to like unapologetically be yourself yeah and have that thing that you like i think young people can do it a lot more now yeah i think because there's the internet and stuff like that and and when i was younger every boy had to be into football really yeah really get a choice but now everyone's into all sorts of mad stuff yeah like car football yeah and rocket league rocket league yeah that is too far You're a fucking virgin if you like that shit.

30:31But there's the guy on there. You should have some bullying. A little bit. The guy on TikTok that I watch, he does the flight simulators. I don't know what the fuck he's going on about, but I like it. He'll sit and watch it. He'll do an actual 12-hour flight from LAX to Heathrow that's sat in a simulator. I can see the attraction. Can you? Yeah, you do it with trains. I like trains and farming and stuff like that. Mad, isn't it? See, I can't wrap my head around it. I'm not saying it's for me. It's not for me. But I'm fascinated that he likes it that way. Yeah. And because on TikTok, you do fall into these little sort of niches of society, don't you?

31:05Where you might see somebody who's like, whole thing is beekeeping or whole thing is painting pottery and shit like that. That's made me think. Okay, drinking with women in their 20s. It's all fine.

31:18That's made me think. I was scrolling through Twitter the other day and I saw a video that I just fucking love. And I don't even think I could show you on the podcast because I don't know how that works for a podcast. Can I interrupt? He's mentioned this to me about three separate times and I do not know what it is. I just wanted to send it to you and it's so shit and I don't even know why I'm telling you about it on a podcast, but I love it. I just really love this video. It sounds like it's going to be the greatest video in the world. I just watched it and sometimes you know how our brains are so fried now.

31:47It's a two minute video and normally I'd get like 20 seconds and I'd go, why am I watching this? I'll just turn it off because I'm like... I just sat for an old thing and I thought this is just so good because it's one of those things where you're watching it and you know what's coming, but the guy who's in it doesn't know what's coming and what it is it's an american guy trying coleman's mustard for the first time is it car i've seen it it's so good isn't it no it's not it's just this random american guy and he's got this hot dog and he has coleman's in front of him which is obviously not eccentric for us but he obviously doesn't know anything about mustard beyond american mustard and he just scoops it out and throws it on the hot dog scraping loads on and then he goes oh i need a bit more on the end and just him eating this mustard is just the best thing ever do you like the mustard or not he is shocked by just how intense it is doesn't he and then he really really reacts so badly to i need to show you he reacts so badly to it and i'm thinking you're watching it as an english person you're watching knowing what coleman's is like yeah it's nice with a small amount yeah but you know what's coming and oh my god his reaction's amazing and he starts to level out and then he goes oh i got it again and it's oh it's so good well we'll have to splice it into this episode but people like it when you don't know about their country but they do as well i've i you might have seen i did this because i've mentioned my close friend's story but i was in netherlands last week half time and we were well there's a nice beach there and i and i had to i had to do a real thing so i'll do a real here at the at the beach sort of things and i was just basically saying like why are you gatekeeping your beaches netherlands sort of thing joking like that um but what i remember but i remember i went to gronigan or something i was pronouncing gronigan when i did some video like this is wrong and loads of the comments were people going that's not how you spell it and all this stuff you know it's the pronunciation is rubbish that i think dutch is quite a hard language yeah but then i remembered when i was doing this real i remembered what when morgues was on here he said he deliberately gets things wrong yeah so i thought and i've read and when i was reading about the beach place i was staying at he said it's that one of the hardest places to pronounce i thought i'm gonna just lean into this and just do a minute i've got no idea how you do pronounce it yeah i'm just gonna go for the mental pronunciation yeah the dutch loved it oh my god they loved it or hated it they were like oh i've never heard anyone pronounce it i mean they love getting involved i'm not gonna tell them i did this deliberately something like that yeah But they had like over a million views.

34:14Like it's been shared. Like I reckon most people in Holland have seen it by this point. Fucking hell, wow. Why is that just for the majority of the comments she's calling out? It's a little bit like that. There's also some, there's also people saying that this is one of our shit beaches and all this. Oh, wow. Do you know what I was saying? It had like beach bars along the beach which we should literally get in this country. Yeah. What, in Holland? Yeah. Fucking hell. I don't know if it'll work for the podcast but I'll quickly show you, Jack, and then at least we can get your reaction even if we cut the video.

34:41So this is an American guy trying... I just up this a little bit. Oh, I love this guy. Me and Fee watch this guy. Oh, you're going to love it then. You're going to love it. This is the guy who does... He reacts to TikToks and shit. No idea. Yeah. Never seen him before. This is... JJLA React. JJLA React. Mate, this is so good.

35:02Look how much he's put on. Do you think he knew? No. No. He's treating it like American mustard. Are you sure to get a good bit? and y 'all i made bacon he's so excited because again i'd rather have turkey butts than pig butts but why bacon makes everything better so let's try it with that hot dog with bacon and corn mustard such a big bite that is a big bite

35:42You put a lot on.

35:57You put a lot on.

36:03That is good. Sorry, listeners. We're just watching a man eat mustard.

36:16It goes away and comes back. Oh my God. Oh.

36:28It goes away and then comes back. It hits you in the nose. Why is he licking his finger? That's good. I don't know if it's just because it's the Coleman's obviously a Norwich thing or just an English person watching that but I just it just really tickled me I love watching that Kalani ghost hunter guy now because he came to Norwich yeah have you seen him never heard of him and then I saw him everywhere because it was all Norwich stuff he's massive there's yeah there's a guy called Kalani ghost hunter I think he's British no American and I think he does um I think obviously he does ghost hunts but I've never seen one of them he now does like food reviews but he's really got his finger on English culture so he gets it yeah so he comes to England and he'll like bring like an american girl who he's seeing or something and then they'll try food and he'll he'll get it so he'll go like oh with the roast with the with the lamb you have to have some mint sauce and and these yorkshire puddings are better when they're like they're like he knows everything he says quid and he says more like english term but he'll just show like random americans and they'll just try our stuff for the first time and i'm fascinated watching people who have never had like monster munch like try monster munch and stuff so he's good i should try and get him on near at some point yeah well he went to norwich and he fucking loved it just every video i saw him talking about norwich he's so positive he he he loves it he goes everywhere but he he'll go to like random places so he'll go to like lancaster or like i don't know he'll go to cromer for example yeah but what he he said norwich is one of his favorite places in england and he said about how it's the got the most medieval buildings outside inside europe yeah something like that it's nuts but he's he's a pretty cool guy I emailed him the other day and just said like your stuff he said thanks did he reply he said thanks maybe if he's in we can get him in my grand had come around my house the other day have I told you about the problem that I've been having with bat boxes what's a bat box I've got a bat box on my house that I didn't even know I had is that for bats to sleep in yeah I didn't know that was a thing well you just nailed it mate well that's an assumption but I don't know why that's a thing but why you keep your cricket bats in why are you putting that on a house Well, apparently, one in, I think it's, I might be wrong, but one in two houses, new builds need it.

38:40So my neighbours don't have it, but they do the other side, because I went round and had a little look. In February, when we had the ice and the snow for a bit, apparently, so where the new builds are so badly built, they built this back box on the side of my house, I didn't even know it was there, and it froze, and then it defrosted, and the cement hadn't been my granddad reckons they hadn't they hadn't put something to like pop it in so the cement had fallen out yeah right around the side of his back but really high up and it happens to be on the side of the house that isn't my drive okay my neighbor's drive yeah and the guy knocked the neighbor knocked on my door and was like cement keeps falling out your house and my part my car there i'm worried it's going to hit my car so i was like all right cool i'll get it sorted and he was like soon as you can please so four months later i emailed them that's good of you and um we emailed like the housing insurance people whatever turns out they couldn't come and fix it because the damage wasn't more than three thousand pounds so i don't really get what that means uh email taylor wimpy of course they don't fucking reply because they're cunts um i back what kieran carlin was saying i know you're off for a brand deal they're cunts don't I've never heard a positive word about them.

39:52They're cunts, right? Maybe you could hear a positive word if you put the right influence to Taylor Wimpy. So my granddad's come round. We asked the window cleaner if he could do it. He couldn't get up there. So I asked my granddad. He said he'd hire a cherry picker. I was like, fucking hell, it's a bit long. Is there any cherries, granddad? We're just going to fix the back part. Good. Is there not just a big ladder to get up there? Stevie, it's fucking high up. Do you live in a skyscraper? Three stories, mate. It does have a lot of stories. It looks like a normal size house. But yeah, I get it.

40:25Can I show you a picture? Can I show you a picture of a scale? Oh, no. You can't really tell. But that's like, these are the bat boxes. See the cement there? Yeah, three bat boxes. See the cement there? That's how it should look. Cement between three of them. Yeah. So it's like, no ladder will get up there. Okay. So my grandad comes around one day and he's like, I'll fix it for you. And yeah, I said, I don't want to jerry pick her though cost too much to hire and he goes i'll sort it and he comes round and he has got three massive i'm talking about 10 for each these are bits of wood and he just nails them into each other to make this really fucking long bit of wood like that goes down the road he's not gonna be able to climb it no right and and i'm like how are you gonna do this and he's like i'll get it i'll get it and i'll knock it like that and i thought fucking hell how are you doing shit like this anyway you pick the neighbour's car is still there right so is he trying to twat the bat box off he's trying to twat the bat box but what's that going to achieve twat box we need the cement out so we need to make it fall so then it can't fall later on does he want the bat box to fall no he wants the cement that's wedged in the tiny gap between the bat boxes to fall but surely the cement is a part of the thing keeping the bat box there he reckons it needs to be refilled but you need to get that old cement out first so the problem number one either way you've got to go up yeah he's not getting a big stick with cement on it he said you don't need to fill that until the winter he said during the summer that'll be fine to have that gap there so he said let's just get it gone because the neighbours pressure me now because it has been four months and I have been doing very little so then he gets this stick and he goes right walk it he tells me to put my foot on one end and to walk it up like that but as I'm walking it up it's wobbling everywhere because there's only a small bit of timber and it's wobbling like this and I'm thinking fucking hell I can barely see the top of it.

42:18And then it just snaps halfway and it goes straight towards the neighbour's car, which is the main problem. I'm there and it is only a thin bit of wood, so it's not heavy, but I just grab it right at the last minute and I'm like, fucking hell. I'm like, Grandad, I don't think we should do this because the whole problem is him getting his car batted up. And he went, that'll be fine, that'll be fine. So I'm like, right. He puts it back down on top of the bit of wood, nails another nail into it. And I'm thinking, fucking hell, it's already weak now it's already broke when it was at its strongest and then and then he goes that's because you were standing on it I was like you asked me to put my foot on it but whatever so then he just picks it up I swear right he pulls it back and bear in mind it's right up there you can barely see it and he just swings this bit of wood like a baseball bat mate right he swings this bit of wood it flies it pings perfectly on the bit of cement bash come straight down.

43:17He goes, done. Snaps a bit of wood in half, puts it in his van, gone. Grandad's a mental. That's good. That is really good. I doubted him as well. I doubted him after that first little hiccup. He's not the cleanest of hits. He had a misplaced pass coming on in the 80th minute, but fuck me, did he head at home. I was so expecting him to hit the back box and the whole thing fall out. Yeah. I was in the car. No, Titch brought a bird in. Bird. Oh, upgraded. Life did. From Meister Bird. fluttering but last flutters fucked up fucked bird yeah I went there but Fiona showed me a video and also why does she keep filming it?

43:56She's sadistic yeah I know she's fucking odd mate but she she brought the cat brought a mouse in the other day and the mouse we have got this little box it's like a little decorative box that you can just put like trinkets in and stuff but we've had it on the floor because we've got these two bits of flour shit she brings them like a tit's bringing mice home but you bring a decorative flower home you bring back pokemon cards lovely house but it's like two bits of fern coming out of the decorative box feathers yeah two long feathers right on the floor she can't judge if she's nicking feathers out of an owl and tit had brought this mouse back and we don't know how it happened but the mouse got in the box Don't know how it happened.

44:45And Titch couldn't get in the box because it was too shallow for her head. So we came down and we could just hear this mouse squeaking for ages and couldn't work out where it was. And about an hour later, we just found a little mouse in the box. So we set it free. But bringing the bird in, that's the last straw. You listeners have followed me on this cat journey from not having it back. You hate cat now. I hate cat. Are you just not fond of Titch anymore? I will give her attention and I will be nice to her. but deep down it's like I don't like when I look in her eyes do you know what will clear out cat dream what dog dream I know what's the latest I was googling last night again I'm so tempted I just I'm just still I'm just still worried of the logistics of it I'm worried about the I'm worried for feet I I just went on a I am I'm serious I'm worried for feet I am not that the dog will attack her I'm worried that she will be left doing dog logistics yeah I just went on a stag in Bristol for my friend and they got a puppy a few months ago and their lives seem to kind of revolve around this.

45:49It's like having a kid. And they work from home and it still seems to be every single day they have to do something around making sure this dog's going to be okay. Even the stag revolved around making sure dog was going to be okay. And stuff, it feels like... I've got to get back to my dog. Yeah, exactly. So we couldn't just go Barcelona for pin check? No, you don't live... because fees at home that's the problem you just right yeah right it's a feed problem right but it's because of me because of dog i just don't think you live a life that caters to any dog of any kind no it's just everything revolves around this thing which is lovely but you'll get to i think you'll love it for a while and then it will get to a point where it grinds on you and it will become the new titch where you're going fuck why did we do this and you've done it by then titch every now and then i call her and just to put the boot in a little bit not physically obviously metaphorically I call her bitch wow that's an insult because you're calling her a dog as well I go bitch want some food there's a pouch still nice but there's malice in your voice and she never picks up on it no by the way the reason that's my only sentence about the stag is because it's just the least staggy group of guys ever.

47:08So there's not a single story worth telling. Not a single story you can tell, eh, player? Have you seen that video online? Oh, mate, you need to... Right, it's weird because this ties everything we've been talking about on the podcast. Two lads go to Barcelona for a staggy. Have you seen? No. And it's gone far. The comments on it are fucking brilliant. Right, now I understand some people don't drink, right? And sometimes when I go away and I just drink, I do come back and I think, bit of a wasted trip, right? I would like to see more culture and engage in that kind of stuff, right? I also don't think there's anything wrong if you are the party kind of.

47:39Yeah, yeah. What I hate is a bit like the Stephen Bartlett thing recently where they shove the sobriety down people's throats. These two lads have gone away on a stag do. And they drink. They do drink, but they only drink. And the guy was like, here's everything that happened on the stag do as two guys who just wanted to enjoy it. And it swipes lots of good food, museums, one drink just to enjoy it with meals right and they're talking like that and memories that will actually remember and stuff and all the comments are just like you the effort you've gone in to show your wife this is funny they've had the maddest time ever because because we we did like carry i've literally got age we have to make a reel Sierra has all the best active and outdoor brands For the super athletic stuff Like running gear for cruising up the trail Woo!

48:34And the super athletic-ish stuff Like fishing gear for chilling by the creek Nice cast Fitness apparel to push for higher reps You got this And golf balls priced so you can afford to lose one Or a few Head to Sierra or Sierra.com For the brands you want at the prices that let you do it all From athletic to athletic-ish, Sierra's got it. 49:18Botox, onabotulinum toxin A, prevents headaches in adults with chronic migraine. It's not for those with 14 or fewer headache days a month. It's the number one prescribed branded chronic migraine preventive treatment.

49:53If there's a skin infection, tell your doctor your medical history, muscle or nerve conditions, including ALS Lou Gehrig's disease, myasthenia gravis or Lambert-Eaton syndrome, and medications, including botulinum toxins, as these may increase the risk of serious side effects. Why wait? Ask your doctor, visit BotoxChronicMigraine.com, or call 1-800-44-BOTOX to learn more. The group of people we were with just aren't the type that make you dress up and all that kind of thing. So it was quite standard. We met at like 9 a.m. for breakfast. I had a beer there already. Did you? Yeah, it's not a beer.

50:21Were you the only one that had a beer? Yeah. Were you really? Yeah, I was. What the fuck are they doing? They all had a couple of beers. Which I like judging, but what the fuck were they doing? They all had a couple of beers the night before at poker. Were they feeling ropey then? Slightly at first. They got way better straight after. We then went and - A bit helps you out though, doesn't it? I don't know. But we went to a driving range. I'm shit at golf. I hate it. Just did not enjoy that. It's because you're not good at that. If you carried on being good at it, you used to hate running. True, true.

50:47But then we went and just did bowling and stuff. the only thing i do have is actually a story of someone else's stag is when we went to the bowling place um i wrote everyone's name on the thing and because matt it was matt stag but there was another one of his friends was called matt so when i wrote everyone's name to give to the people to put on the board rather than writing matt twice i just wrote stag just because that's an easy way to differentiate but when i handed it to the woman she went which one's the stag and i went oh matt over there and then she was like matt's on there's a matt on here and i was on a separate mats and then she went you lot don't look like a stag group and i was like yeah we're just we're just not the kind of people to force each other to dress up and stuff and she i was like do you get a lot of stags in and she went we had a weird one the other day and i was like what happened she went stag came in crawling on his hands and knees oh god collared and then it turned out they gave him a shock collar and they were making him crawl everywhere and the guys just throughout the day all had an app on their phone where they could just shock his fucking horrific as they're going on throughout the day and as she's telling me this jimmy savile walks in literally the next thing i see is a stag group walk in and jimmy is the main interest next thing i see is another stag group walk in and there's just a guy dressed as jimmy savile and all we made matt do is our friend got him a t-shirt of the university he went to in america just a t-shirt that has the logo of texas thing on it i think i'd rather go the savile one yeah i don't want to go in the dog one yeah i don't want to go to your one i want to go the savile one we drank loads and had fun went to flight club and all that i stayed out until like 4am that doesn't sound fun yeah bro i got you a fucking t-shirt oh no what's he gonna say mr raper I think even Matt was surprised even Matt was surprised he was like I thought this was going to be so much worse you've just given me you get a sharpie I go sorry Matt I'm just going to write Mr.

52:49Ray Ply Robbie what have you been up to mate I went to Netherlands as discussed earlier lovely I went to The Hague beautiful beautiful city I love the Netherlands this is one of my favourite countries lovely people love mispronunciations of names but yeah went there on the Hagel's we went to went to an art gallery nice so have you seen the girl with the pearl earring have you seen that I've heard of it that painting that was there so it's live quite good when you see a painting you know live how big is it the earring or the painting the painting because everyone always says Mona Lisa's tiny I've seen this that's about that size not TB yeah why is it a famous painting that's not the actual one it's a well good painting apparently can't really tell the difference that's like some AI enhanced one that is the painting i don't know if that's if that's a different version of it but yeah apparently he's like the master of light the guy i think or something like that so he's very good as the light great name oh well where where the light shines i think he was well good at painting light back in the day okay yeah um uh and also there's what else is there the goldfinch is there which i know because there's a book the goldfinch that was one of my favorite books by and that's the the whole plot of the books about a boy who is a terrorist attack and he takes the in the aftermath he takes this painting what and that painting's in the museum yeah so is it like a really famous museum like the louvre i think it's it's a i think it's a big paint it's a big museum for sort of that dutch golden age have you always been into museums or is this a thing that came with i think i don't think i was particularly when i was younger i think i started like i like going to to them a bit i'm not going to go to everything but particularly there's if i'm there i'll go and see one museum there's a few museums there particularly with the kitty and bev would have gone to more as well i would have done it but the boys weren't that keen on it so they like to look at a bit museums i feel like i've got getting into them a bit now i feel like when i was younger i'd hate the idea of going to one yeah but now my timeline of the museum is fiona will suggest going to one i think that i can't think of anything worse yeah i go because I have just been drinking for three days wherever we are, so I feel like we have to.

54:58And then my attention span's low, and then I see a few things I like, and my attention span goes way good. I'm high, riding a high of fuck, this isn't actually shit for an hour, and then falls off a cliff randomly, and I need to go to pub. Yeah, you need consistency when you're like... Yeah, an hour's plenty of time for me to spend in an art gallery. I wouldn't spend more than an hour, I don't think. What's the best museum you've ever been to? This goes to the floor. And the listeners, have a think. Are we including art galleries and museums? are talking about here museum art gallery let's bundle it all together i went a couple a year or two ago with bev to bilbao we went to the guggenheim there that was spectacular explaining dumb terms big museum yep man yep built museum right nice museum yep nice building yeah man called Frank.

55:48Ooh. Museum. Yeah. Rejuvenate city. City. Bad. Bit bad. Right. Museum. City better. Bring life. Me come. Yeah. Other people like me bring money. Yeah. Money makes city better. People happy. Yeah. Art nice. Yeah. The end. Okay, I get it. Nice. Okay. And that's the Guggenheim one. That's the Guggenheim in Bilbao, yeah. So that's, the building's incredible. That's your number one. What's yours? That's my favourite. I don't know if a museum in particular, but I quite liked, I said it on here before, but like Robbie just said, seeing something you know in real life, I really liked going to see the Last Supper painting.

56:33Oh, yeah. What, in the Pristine Chapel? Sistine, but it's a different thing as well. Sistine Chapel's the painted ceiling. Oh, yeah, that's banging. That's class. I did see... Do you know who painted that, by the way? How they got that high? That was my granddad with three pounds. Just a paintbrush on the end. That's the gig at home, by the way. That's what it looks like. It's class, isn't it? It looks like my sort of tray where I keep my pots and pans. I've not seen that, but I imagine it. Was it made by Frank Gehry? You could have just gone to Jack's. Yeah, I could have done. What's yours? 9-11 was class.

57:06Excuse me? Can I reword that? Yeah, but what about museums? The museum was shit. no the 9-11 museum was class obviously tragic and sad but that was pretty intense when you go in there you've been yeah when you go there they put you into like a theater room straight away curtains come back make you relive it uh and it's george w bush giving a talk to the to the to us actual george or like no and then a guy comes in it's on the screen no i know but like have they made him film no no it's the actual footage oh he's telling you that story oh like you've like it's just happened yeah and then the cia agent comes in yeah yeah yeah the plane has hit the tower yeah yeah yeah so that was that was a good one yeah uh robbie you might be proud of me i went on a pub crawl on my own the other day yeah hang on how do i feel about this i feel like alfie now he has to analyze himself am i proud um proud of you because you did something on your own and you would have normally have not done that or proud because you think i drink on my own all day you like norwich pubs i like the rich part i didn't let the fact that the people i was with going home put me off drinking okay yeah i like this yeah tell me through what tell me through how you ended up on this pub crawl i went to watch the champions league final with jack smith at uh riley stevie joined for the last part of it uh and my other friend jamie and then they weren't drinking they were all driving and i'd had about five pints and i had nothing on the next day and i thought let's go for it i'm enjoying this yeah and then everyone was going home and i thought sun was out we've had a heat wave recently and i had i had about an hour and 20 minute walk home yeah and i just i didn't plan on it but i just started walking i thought i'll just walk and see how far i go it was a little bit tiddly life was good walked past the stanley thought could do one could do one it's great yeah went in had one sat there just on the phone outside on the bench started to walk home again the brickmakers hello not really my scene that's not your vibe no went in that's like a biker place there was like a rock night on there was someone playing a couple of lads came up to me started speaking about the podcast that was good had a pint with them it's good that I like that I like a little solo pint occasionally that's how I became friends with Darren Huckabee he was bumping into a pub when I was for a pint on my own is it?

59:23yeah I'm not sure I knew that I'd met him once on a podcast in London and then after I moved to Norwich I'd been watching, as soon as I remember, it was Man U Wolves and the Murderers. I think I just went in. I think I was on my own there as well. I think I'd been out with the family during the day. And we were going back to the kids. I said, I'm actually going to watch the end of the football. I can't remember why I was particularly interested in Man U Wolves. So I went to watch the end of that. And I thought, I'll just walk back. I walked past a pub on Bank Road and just popped in. And then I just heard and go, oh, look who the cat, what the cat's dragged in.

59:55I said, I don't know, mate. It was a bird. I've been there once, and then, yeah, just drank me for a few hours. Drinking on your own is probably a good thing. Well, this is a thing, right? I think I'm doing the natural drinking progression as I get older. Yeah. So I've had my 20s, and I've had some wild nights. Yeah. And don't get me wrong, they still creep up from time to time. Oh, you can still do them for another few years. Yeah, yeah, yeah. There'll be a few festivals coming up this summer. You'll be getting a text. Text or voice note? How bad are we talking? Text. I'm not voice note here.

1:00:26Not voice note here. I'm liking four pints. Four pints is great. I'm liking four pints, and I kind of want four pints every day. I don't. Yeah. I don't. That bad. Famously do not. Famously do not do that, yeah. But we went last night at Half Yacht Planet, and I had two pints. Yeah. Fucking glorious. I used to not like beer. Now I love beer with my whole heart. That's what I love now. I don't like getting hammered. I'm like, no, no. Yeah. But like a little afternoon. Yeah. I think three or four points. It is nice when it doesn't ruin the next day. Well, you've always been a pioneer of the early start, early finish.

1:01:02I'm with you, brother. I'm with you. So two examples. One we spoke about on the pod a few weeks ago. Stevie and I randomly got hammered in Riley's about four, about six weeks ago. Bank Holiday Sunday. Bank Holiday Sunday. So much so. Sorry if it was you I was telling. No, it was Alfie. Yeah. But so much so that I didn't know how hammered I was. And then we were playing pool. And then I left, got a taxi home. The taxi driver was talking to me. And I got that really like wet mouth. where you're like, oh, this is bad. And the whole car was spinning, and I felt atrocious. Got home, went to have a bath.

1:01:33Bath too hot, almost throw up. Stumbled into bed at like 10 p.m. Fiona was like, you all right? I was like, I'm going to bed. Went to bed, had 12 hours sleep. Woke up. I promise you I did not have an ounce of hangover. Because I had 12 hours sleep. And then the other day, I was saying about my pub crawl. Probably had about eight pints, quite a considerable amount of pints, I'd say. got a fucking hench Mackey's order when I got home then the next day had a family barbecue around Fiona's sisters right as rain so I have conquered drinking there's times there's times when I'm like oh man if you hang over you think oh god maybe I should stop drinking that then the other day I just had a few pints it was like a daytime thing it was sunny a few minutes of the day and I was like this is unrivaled this is so nice and fun I kind of want a pint now isn't it mad that you can do that and it doesn't ruin your next three days of life.

1:02:26I'm going to have a pint at 4pm, I reckon. Oh, yeah. Yeah. I'm going to theatre tonight. Are you? Yeah. I'm going to theatre club. I, real quick, have we got time for one last little thing? Yeah, I've got a little thing as well I want to tell you, boys. Go on. I'm in a current dispute. Nope. Karen White. Karen White's back for now. Fuming. You can have Isaac on the weekends. Bad mood. Bad mood. Heat wave. Bad heat wave we had. Yeah, English homes, not good. Yeah. So fucking hot. Day one of it, I saw it was coming on the weather thing. So I was like, you know what? I'm biting the bullet. I said I'd do it last year.

1:03:03Thought it was too much money. I'm just going to go for it. Put£200 into a proper aircon unit. Right. That's a cheap one. I was going to say, I'll be honest. I know you were messing it up. £200 seems cheap. It is cheap for an aircon. I didn't know that was something you could get. Yeah, so it's like a pipe goes out your house and then you've got like this thing that you can, like out the window and then it comes with the things that seals the window still my dad's got one it's fucking amazing how much did you spend i think he got like 16 grand i think he got like a four or five hundred pound his is huge for some reason mine isn't as good his is huge but like improper you can you feel like you're in a fridge within a couple of minutes of it so i was like you know what i'm just gonna with this heat wave coming i'm gonna get it next day delivery b and q i was like i looked on amazon and i was like you know what i'll go to something i can trust it's nearby if i need to get it but they don't do them in store so i'll order it online next day delivery ordered it monday first day of heat wave i've got this sorted tuesday onwards fine tuesday bearing in mind this is half term yeah we spend the whole day in waiting for this thing because we're like i need to wait for this thing it just never comes for fuck's sake and i look at the uh thing dhl who's meant to be delivering it and it just says delayed and i was like okay i'll come tomorrow then wednesday of half term spend the whole day in doesn't come by saturday five days after i ordered a next day delivery thing it's still not come so i call b &q and they tell me oh that's actually through a secondary seller so we we have nothing to do with that now so i ordered it from your website it's on b &q website so yeah but we don't sell that it's a different company so you actually have to contact the seller you can go on your email and you can find a way to contact on the next day And then she went, oh, but they will take 48 hours to reply.

1:04:46It's the next day delivery. So on the Saturday, I message, I get a message on, and I say, cancel it, I'll order from someone else. This is stupid. Like the whole reason I went to B &Q was because I thought I was getting it from B &Q. So I just wrote, cancel the order. Don't care about it anymore. It still just says delayed on DHL. It doesn't say any other information. And they replied 48 hours later on the Monday saying, oh, the delivery people have it now. So if you don't want it, just turn it away at the door. That's it. No proper, like, blunt message. And I was like, you're fucked up here. And nothing else.

1:05:18No apology or anything. Just turn it away at the door if you don't want it. The person sending you that message doesn't give a shit that you know that. No, I know, which is frustrating. It starts pouring down now. It's a little bit warm, but pouring down. Take it back and bring me a heater. It's Wednesday today. Still on DHL. Just says nothing. Still says they don't have it. Contacted DHL this morning. And the hotel. they don't have it so she's messaged me saying they've got it now you'll get it delivered i don't i've spent 200 pound on nothing you'll get your money back yeah i don't know what's happened like i don't get why i can order free b &q it's someone else completely who will take two days to reply if i ever want anything for a next day delivery thing that i'm now on day 10 of will b &q be hosting other products on their website and then taking a commish i guess so i guess that's what they're doing but i literally scrolled through all the ones on amazon and was oh you know what it makes more sense for me to do one where i could actually go if because that's an awkward thing to post back to amazon but i could just take it to being cute if i need to turns out i fucking can't basically ordered for amazon anyway so he's told us about him ordering a thing that didn't come yeah warts yeah um bike me bike me you stag do this is like a reminder a little bit and all that very much more time to mustard what's everything mustard I think what I did that you'll like, Stevie is I went I got new glasses now which I put them on do you all see them?

1:06:43I see your bins I see your bins I'm only going to use them for driving but I brought them with you today because of theatre later where'd you go? is this theatre club day is it? when I got I went to Cecil Cecil Amy Amy yeah know it well but I went and how do you know it well? just know someone that works there okay well someone Cecil oh I only know Amy thoughts? don't mind can you push them down on your ears properly please good yeah don't mind them there you go yeah they fit your nose very well thank you yeah fit your nose very well um but i when i when i so i got in got them did my eye test and all this and ordered them then i had to phone them up to come in and collect them you don't have much of a prescription i knew this would happen no but like i'm wondering why why you got them like what why did they convince you to get them what do you mean why do you just don't have much of a prescription do i do i do i know not for reading a long distance so like with driving i find them easy with driving okay so i've had guys before um but my prescription changed not by much but a bit um but then so i found out spoke to a guy at the optician to um arrange to collect them and i said he said what's your name is probably nuts and he said oh um he said oh yeah that's fine you can coming this afternoon he said by the way love the podcast it's probably the guy i know is it the guy maybe yeah do you know his name no okay why are you gonna say no i just know a guy that works there okay yeah have you got any stories about this guy no so he said this and then i said um i said oh yeah don't worry now that i've you know it's a shame i'm getting and i said i've a bit banter with him i said shame i'm getting this because now when i wear them on the pod stevie's gonna talk loads of boring optician shit to which that just happened um but then i realise oh this guy can't take that the opticians and I'm calling it boring opticians which is cool by the way yeah that's funny yeah look good when um the reason I mentioned like the small prescription getting glasses because you're boring it was a big thing when you worked at the opticians that like people say all the time they got like upsold and did all these things you know I said I took Ariane and Isaac for their appointments recently Ariane had a small prescription that I said to her I was like you really don't need it but if you think your eyes get tired at the end of the day or whatever they they could be helpful she went back on her own and bought some and she came back with a 400 pound receipt and i looked at the lenses and everything and i just said cancel it now they have upsold you to the max it was mental they got they thinned her lenses and i was like she she has next to no prescription just enough to slightly sharpen things and just make her eyes like not have to work so hard throughout the day so she called them and contacted she called them and said i want to cancel it i've spoken to someone who knows about glasses and the manager called back the next day and was like my staff would never upsell you and i proper snappy and snarky did you go on the third no i just she just said okay but arian was just like killed her with kindness she was like okay no that's fine i still want to cancel because how it worked when i worked at the opticians is you've obviously got sales goals but not as a person but as a store that we didn't get commission or anything but if they made that 400 pound sale the day arian went in they'll get that 400 pound that day but the day she cancelled first thing in the morning that means they're going to start that day on minus 400 so the manager would have obviously been fuming for that but like she was like i've got new power yeah yeah well that's how it worked at our store but then it was like so like she was probably like we'd never upsell you and i was looking go fuck it you barely needed glasses yeah and she they sold her this plan that you pay off over two years and all this stuff and i was like you have completely rinsed her for these things so i was like there's a lot as well yeah yeah the frames were 100 with lenses so you've got to think she got two pairs the second pair was meant to be half price so you'd think that's 150 total somehow 400 with a discount it said pre-discount over 600 for someone who had the smallest prescription so I was just like just cancel it I don't even care how annoyed they are wow well my last thing I went to the O2 the other day to watch the Premier League final the darts fantastic hell of a final hell of a day every single leg of darts that could have been played could have been played yeah mad because both semifinals were 10-9-10-9 then the final was 11-10 uh and then afterwards really fucking cool especially me someone who loves darts i um went to the after party uh oh yeah so when i was watching the darts i was watching it with the family of um luke littler and luke humphries and luke littler's uh brother-in-law put his number in my phone and he said i'll text you where we're going to go after so i thought brilliant that'll be fun so um put put the number in found out where it was swanky hotel sky bar went in there humphries came in had a little chat with him he was obviously devastated but such a lovely bloke yeah um it was it was quite mad because he was going on about how and i spoke about this on double tops but he was going on about how heartbroken he was to lose it in that fashion to lose the title to luke now and then as he was talking he was really gutted luke littler's walked in with the trophy and the whole bar just stood up and clapped him and stuff and he's with all his family it was a nice moment and humphries was the first one over there to give him a hug and a hand shake and a lot of people says say on like twats online say that humphreys does it for the cameras but it's like there's no cameras here he's going over but it's weird that he went up to you and went talk about that on the podcast yeah yeah yeah but anyway the the reason i bring this up not not just to flex i was at cool pie was um at the end uh so i get on really well with luke's dad um littler's dad um bucky and like we met him when he came to do happy yeah stuff like that and he's just a normal bloke and um we we were chatting and then the bell rang at this bar for the final order and i said bucky let me get you a drink mate i've not got your drink before so i get him a drink i'm going over to get my drink and then i see littler sat there and i've not spoke to him yet so i was like buck it i'll get him a drink so i go over pat him on the back say congrats on that and he sat there with a whole circle of family i go luke let me get your drink mate and he goes all right mate nice one yeah i'll get um double malibu lemonade i was a bit odd fair enough whatever and i go what does your mum want so we go mum mum what do you want she goes double malibu lemonade i'm like i can see where you get it from fair enough and then because i've asked two and there's like eight other people there i'm kind of like i'm just gonna take them so i went around the whole group and i was like right what do you want what do you want what do you want only person i hadn't asked was luke's girlfriend faith because she wasn't there at this point yeah right so i go up to the bar relay the order and helping me as dad and then the total comes up i can't quite remember but he was it was over 100 pounds it was like 119 quid last ring spenny spenny round spenny but i like luke littler it's giving me a lot of moments come on this podcast at least i can do as i'm there at the bar this guy turns to me and he was just like uh i don't he wasn't even a he hadn't even been to the darts right not a darts man yeah and he goes are you with luke littler and i go no i'm not not with him but i'm i know him yeah he goes are you getting them drinks for him and i go yeah he's 19 that was the problem and then he goes i don't say that obviously i'm like yeah yeah and then he goes can i pay for him and i go nah mate it's honestly it's fine he goes i won't even go over there so i'm like nah honestly mate it's fine he goes i just want to tell my mates at work tomorrow that i bought luke littler a drink and i'm like mate like i really don't want you to pay because it's 119 quid or whatever and then as i'm saying in it um luke littler's girlfriend comes around and i promise you i did not intend for this to happen but i just turned around i was like faith what what do you what do you want she says what she wants as i turn back he's paid for it he's tapped his card and just walked off and just gone he hasn't even gone over to like littler and said they're from me oh littler must have been buzzing though that the guy did did you tell littler so i put them all on a tray and i just went over and I went, there you go, guys.

1:14:31Yeah. Sorry, I'm already paid you to get one. Call him back. Can you get her one too? But I was just like, because what do I say in that moment? By the way, this random guy that you've never, I don't even know his name. This random guy. So I genuinely wasn't just trying to pass it off as my own, but I just thought, I don't know what to say. Barely even exchanged words. Just gave the drinks, was the legend, and went off into the right. There we go. Give me the green light.
