In short

Lil Rel Howery discusses wanting to be involved in a Fat Joe “Get Out” sequel, his experiences directing comedy, and stories from growing up in Chicago/working in Hollywood, including Wu-Tang Clan fandom and encounters with “AI” concierge robots in Dubai.

Guests

Lil Rel Howery (Chicago-born comedian/actor; known for real-life storytelling; also directs and executive produces). Karlous Miller (comedian; co-host/guest on the episode).

Key claims

Lil Rel says he was “in the Black Get Out” when he visited Kevin Lyles’ house—describing it as a surreal, creepy experience that he believes could inspire a sequel. He argues comedy directing is an “open lane” and wants to direct across comedy subgenres (horror, rom-com, action). He claims Hollywood gatekeeping can be bypassed by creating and licensing content via outlets like Tubi/Remy Network.

Notable examples

Meeting Ghostface in a Chicago All-Star Weekend lobby and hanging out with Wu-Tang; watching Wu-Tang’s “superhero” impact on him as a fan. Recounting Chicago neighborhood “tough” characters (jail workouts, “Rhino,” “Chagito” jumping from a four-floor window). Describing Dubai AI concierge robots that “don’t smile” and scare him.

0:00Foodies unite. This is Angie Martinez from IRL podcast here to tell you about something new and delicious from McDonald's. So they just released an all new Caesar sauce that is a creamy blend of rich Parmesan, zesty lemon and bold garlic flavors. The sauce on a chicken Caesar snack wrap or the Mc Crispy Strips delicious, which, by the way, the crispy strips are even crispier now. And that combination is perfect for McDonald's. And for a drink, I'll probably have a nice cold Sprite to go along with that perfectly. And I will be a happy girl. Don't take my word for it. Try it out for yourself for a limited time while supplies last at participating McDonald's.

2:49I couldn't believe it. I was walking around for like a week telling people, yo, I never seen this before. Like nowhere in the world. Now that you told this story to me, it's like Jordan Peele, you got to do this shit now. Because I always wonder what happened with all the people that they took over. Yeah, where they at? Where they at? It was in that house. In Kevin Law's house.

3:12In Kevin Law's house.

3:28Yeah, yeah, what up, y 'all? This is Joe Crack the Dong. You know who it is, your boy Jada. You know what it is, the Joe and Jada show. Every show legendary. Every show iconic. Mm-hmm. Got that Hermes shit on. You know what I mean? Don't try this shit at home, man. don't try that Hermes but anyway it's iconic, it's legendary when you think of today's guests we the bigs my brother said he got the numbers we the number one we slaying these we don't want to break it listen, empirical data we haven't even introduced them yet to start our shit I'm ready When you think of today's guest, you think about one of the most consistent voices in comedy over the last decade.

4:27From the stand-up stage to the big screen. He's built a career off real-life stories, sharp timing, and the ability to make almost anything funny. He's that rare comedian who can steal scenes in movies, headline his own specials, and now step behind the camera as a director and executive producer. I mean, Chicago bred industry respected. And always authentic. bringing that energy into a whole new lane with his latest project. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome Loro Rell to the bed. Damn. Sure. First of all, I'm playing that before all my shows, man. See what I'm saying? That's what it was meant to be.

5:23Like, you have Jada Kiss intro, and like, that is like, I'm over here cheesing, man. Call me for something, man. Fanny reunion, the cookout. Just let me intro. Hold on, hold on, hold on. Y 'all got to understand, the young nigga and me watching MTV and you on the rooftop doing We Gonna Make It and you just intro'd me is fucking incest. I'm trying to have to smile. You know what I told Jim Jones talked about me really good and I put it on the new single. He was like, no, no, he threw the scene. I'm talking about we took his voice and threw it on the scene. That's fine. You asked me about. Wow. You ever seen Fat Joe Big pointing to me?

6:06Like sometimes them intros, they go a long way. You know, I met Tyler Perry the other day. I was like, I did too much. What you do? I've been waiting to meet Tyler Perry forever. He had the Jay-Z show. I'm like, yo, my man, let's get money. What we talking about? Yo, when can I come down to Atlanta to the compound? Look at that motherfucker was spooked off. Yo, Fat Joe, get away from this motherfucker. I was doing too much. He was like, I will be right back. He didn't know you was on pace. Oh, Fat Joe, I'll be right back. That's what he said. I've been right back. He had two secret services. He had two secret services with him.

6:45He keeps security with him. He should. Oh, no, you gotta. And he keep like his, because he's a tall guy. So you gotta hire him. And they're his guys too. They was the same height as him. Yeah. Let me ask you a question. Is, no, I don't want to be disrespectful. I don't want to be disrespectful. But like, when you got security, like do you want smaller guys paws or bigger guys like how about this my daughter told me today yo we used the security for it she was like it got too little dad like I'm moving through the crowd she said I'm moving through the crowd I need a big boy to be like yo y 'all gotta move I don't know I don't have security but I would like a small aging lady with a special set of skills you said a small aging lady You don't even think she's...

7:32You think she's... Yo, they ain't give me no flags! You think she's my Nelson Line lady. Yo, I got no flags! She chop you right in her throat. Yo, I don't have no flags! You know what I'm saying? You think that's a flag? I have a... Yes! Small Asian lady with a special set of skills. You don't see her coming. I like that. You don't even know who she's with. You think she... Michael Jordan had, like... If you remember, his security was that old black guy. Like, dude was, like, super old. Yo, I don't have flags. He got Navy SEALs now. That's what I'm saying. I'd rather have an old black man. I ain't got Navy SEALs with him.

8:05Yo, y 'all got to find flags. This shit is disrespect. Y 'all can throw flags at me. I can't throw flags the one time I want to throw a flag. Small Asian. Small Asian ladies not a flag. With a special set of skills. Yeah, with a special set of skills. Now, if he would have just said small Asian lady and left it at that. Bro, when I went to jail, there was an older Chinese guy, old Asian man, right? He was doing push-ups with his fingertips. Push-ups, like real push-ups and burpees and all that shit. I just knew he would fuck somebody up if they ever fronted on him in there. They never fronted on him.

8:46One Asian dude doing push-ups with his fucking fingers. I said, yo, this guy, fuck a motherfucker up. Was that in a holding cell? No, no. jail. Like jail. He was in there. Every day he worked out with two fingers. He was smooth. He was doing push-ups with fingers on his fingers. They had another dude. He was like from the islands. That motherfucker looked like a ninja turtle. Old nigga. 70, 12, packed up. Motherfucker walked through. He don't talk to nobody. He just work out all day. Wait, what's the old rapper that's still swole? He's still having his shit up.

9:26That's my OG. Melly Bell's still like... Yeah, cock diesel. It don't look like he work out in no gym. It's like he outside just picking up shit. No, no, he working out. But not in the real gym, though. Cock diesel 60 years old. That's what I'm saying. That's not a regular, like, I'm going to the gym and being around other people. That's the outside gym. Years of lifting all kind of shit. Weight and accessories. He was lifting weights, barrels of cement. mattresses. We had a guy in our hood. He wasn't cock diesel, but he was big. His name was Rhino. Rhino smoked that angel dust, and we would gas him.

10:02He would pick up a car. No bullshit. The little cars, he'll pick up a Honda Accord. Like, come on, Rhino. Come on, Rhino. He off the dust. But no money. Nobody offered no money to do it? Money, nothing. I used to pay this dude. Yo, y 'all niggas, yo, let me see. I was pretty much the devil at one point. We had a guy named Chagito used to jump out the four-floor window. In the project, Chagito. And I'd be like, Chagito, I got a dollar. We thinking he gonna die. The nigga jumping out four floors. He laying down on his feet. Boom, Chagito would give him a dollar. We was trying to make him die, literally.

10:40Like, come on, jump out, Chagito. Jump out. He would jump out the four-floor window. He just weighed the dollar, he jumped out. Yeah, dollars big time in the hood. Trying to make him die. It's fat. What we wanted. What we wanted. What do you think we wanted? We was like gassing him to jump out the fourth floor window. What if he died? I'd have been fucked up. Because Chagito. I watched him get hit by a car one time. Car hit him. Boom. This is the only time I've seen a car hit somebody. Hit him. That nigga flew all the way in the air. It's so big. Everybody was like, Chagito. we thought he was dead he hit the floor everybody was like stay down that nigga got up brushed that shit off and ran off that's crazy everybody hood got that person we had a guy named Johnny Cash he had big ass calf muscles and he used to just walk around interrupting people's conversations so if you was having a call he'd just go ahem ahem just for no fucking reason you could be having a full blown conversation with somebody and he just interrupts that shit that was his thing to come in He do that shit and he'll make any like, like I remember Rhymstone Cowboy.

11:54I didn't know that was a country song because the way he sang it was real social. He had his own. He had his own. He had his own twisted. Rhymstone Cowboy. No, he's like, like a Rhymstone Cowboy, Cowboy. You know, it'd be like, damn, he's singing that R &B. I thought it was like, I didn't know it was that bitch on B, huh? It's like the Supremes was singing that shit when he was singing it. Man, let me tell you something. But you wouldn't know that Whitney Houston got that joint from Dolly Parton. Well, I will always love you, right? I will always love you. She got that shit from Dolly Parton, Whitney Houston.

12:27And so, you know, that music is, you know, you could flip it any which way. So I'm in Chicago, right? And the big movie comes out. And I happened to be at the radio station promoting one of my songs. Man, these people were so proud of you, bro. They were bragging about you live on that air. Like, I barely got to say, yo, I have a song out. Like, they were like, yo, Lil' Real, he's on fire out here. He's in the movie, this and this and that. I could never forget you're from Chicago. The way they put it down for you. What was it like growing up in Chicago? From New York, we assume a very dangerous place.

13:11Right. Like, what's it like? You don't have to assume. Chicago I mean I'm from the west side of Chicago you know most people always say about the south side but I'm from out west which is where's coming from south side and you from the west side west side the west side would be like you brought a Puerto Rican to the Mexicans oh Lupe he's telling us Lupe Fiasco's from the west side Crucial Conflict is from the west side of Chicago I think Do or Die is from out west I'm not sure but like yeah you wanna ride in the backseat in the backseat Damn, see? That shit was real back then, boy. You know, my shit, the Houston nigga, the nigga say, oh, what's the Houston, the big boy from Houston, he passed away.

13:56Well, how'd the song go? Oh, that shit, the Cadillac, right? Oh, me and Big Pump play that shit. Wanna be a baller. Shot caller, 20-inch days. Go to the road tonight. That shit, man. I'm in the highway. I'm in the highway. I just had a... I'm in the highway. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. See, that's funny. There's certain people who did not know how to sing and they could just be on a chorus. He's one of them. Oh, no, he put one out the park. That shit is a legendary Texas classic right there. That's crazy. Shaqola. 20 years later, we singing the words. That's legendary shit. You already know when it's a real moment, you need a real bottle.

14:46That's why we rock with 1800 Tequila. Y 'all heard me? These people been making tequila for 11 generations. That's right, 11. That's a legacy. That's OG status. OG. They were the first to introduce a Nejo. Set the standard before most of these brands even existed. And you could taste the difference for real. The 1800 Cristalino and Reposado is what we've been on lately. Smooth, clean, elevate. No burn, no rough edges. Just a premium pour that speaks for itself. You know when something is just built right? That's what this is. Real talk, that's just what it is. It's always around for the best nights, the wins, the celebrations, the remember that night story.

15:32Whether you're keeping it low-key with the crew or you're pulling up to a big event, 1 ,800 fits every setting. It ain't trying too hard. It's just that. 1 ,800 tequila, real legacy, real smooth. That's the move. True, true, true. One. I mean, it's funny because you brought up Do It. Like, Do It Die with Do You Want to Ride. Like, it was certain songs at that time was just good car riding song. You know what I'm saying? Like, people had the Astrovans and shit. You know what we need up here is 8-Ball MJG. Those was my guys. I was signed to the same record labels, though. Them dudes was hard, yeah.

16:07Oh. I was up because I got lucky. I'm on Relativity. They got Rashid. They got Common. Yeah. Right? They got Bone Thugs. So I got Cleveland. They got the Dayton family. You don't know about the Dayton family. Don't tell me the Dayton family. They from Dayton, Ohio. You don't know about them. They got A-Bone, MJG. They got Matt Dre. So I'm a Bronx kid and I'm listening to all this other shit. And I'm like, yo, these guys is putting this shit down out here. Like, but New York was so stuck on New York. They wouldn't think past all the shit I was, I was accessible to with just being on Relativity Records, man.

16:57You got Tony Suavehouse, Tony Draper. But you know something, Joe? It's funny you say, because it's Chicago, right? All of us that liked... I was a big Wu-Tang fan growing up. So in Chicago, they called us New York niggas. Oh, shit. For liking Wu-Tang. For liking New York hip-hop. Yeah, it was like, oh, yeah. Because at that time, Master P, Bone Thug, that's everything everybody's listening to. And it's like, you walking around, we had our book bags on and shit. I was a crazy, insane Wu-Tang fan, which is why by the time I got cool with these niggas, is still blue motherfucking. But I hung out with Ghostface in a lobby.

17:35All-Star Weekend was in Chicago that year. Me and this nigga hung out in the lobby and drank champagne for hours. Right. And nobody kicked us out. Like, we both had my little fur coat on. I was hanging out. I'm like, damn, I'm hanging out with Tony Starks with a fucking fur on. Drinking champagne in a lobby. It wasn't even a place you hang out in the lobby. Wu-Tang, Wu-Tang, even me, I started with Wu-Tang. So when I had my first song, Flojo, they had their first on out. And we was getting$500 a show. Like, I'm there watching the promoter give me$500, giving 13 niggas$500. They must have bought Chicken McNuggets after that shit, right?

18:13But even to this day, when I get around them, they feel like superheroes to me. I don't, there's something about Wu-Tang that they just can't do. No wrong to Fat Joe. Like, I look at each and every one of them as if they're superheroes. They're the greatest rap group to me of all time. Like, it's never... It was an all-star team. And no disrespect to nobody else's shit. You know what I mean? The locks was great. Yeah, it's hard to say, though. But Wu-Tang had... You got the locks, you got... But Wu-Tang had a bunch of people. It's like, it's hard to compare to anything. When you think about the song Triumph and all those verses on there, it's not too many times you've seen some shit like that outside of niggas making a Save the Neighborhood song in like same gang or something.

18:58They got real Wu-Tang fans. What you said, buddy? I didn't catch... No, I was saying Save a Neighborhood, so like we were like, we all in the same gang. Yeah, yeah. If it wasn't that type of shit, it was like Wu-Tang was the only group to consistently make several songs with all these niggas on there. Yeah. And they come out with the Cousins and all that shit. Master Priest, this one and that one. It was like a thousand Wu-Tang niggas. I mean... They had... Yo! No. Hey, buddy, Wu-Tang. The other day we did the... I'm going to tell you something that I'm guilty of. The other day we did the Knicks parade.

19:38So we won the chip. First parade in 53 years. And... Congrats. Congrats. Thank you, brother. So the Knicks gave me my own float. I don't know why. Right? Like, so I do not deserve it. Who was on your float? We had Wu-Tang, the last, Bob Deet, Mary J, Tiana Taylor, Young Mime. We had the world. I brought everybody with me. I only had one guy, rich player. Everybody else was just hip-hop royalty. And when they said, y 'all, Wu-Tang gotta come on the floor, I said, I would love for Wu-Tang to come, but it's not the cousins, right? It's the names of the guys. The real Wu-Tang. you know how many guys up there telling me they Wu-Tang I'm like oh it's a it's a it's a colony of them they had Killer Army they had like I was I was a Wu fan so I bought all that shit little Shaheem you know who did it too the Bone Thugs had Mo Thugs Ken Dog uh Felicia all the they Mo Thugs Mo Thugs Mo Thugs sold 5 million the boys so imagine the locks is poppin and you like yo these are my cousins 5 million like the cousins sold 5 million like Bone Thugs was so influential they was like oh shit Bone Thugs they gotta be good they didn't have them at their so I went to see the verses between 3-6 Mafia but I was actually there I was there too in LA man that shit was crazy I actually introduced that shit I had great seats but I saw all that shit and it was it was funny watching them was it intense it was because Busy Bone was kind of like, you know what I mean?

21:22Like, they had to bring out some little kid to stand next to him. I don't even know if that was his kid. That's probably his son. His son looked like Elder Barge. Maybe that's what it was. It was crazy. His son, beautiful. Got the long hair and looked like Elder Barge.

21:37His busy bone was losing his mind, man. He was like, oh, you know. What happened? Oh, oh. What did I do? He sends me a video the other day of his kids. They got a new puppy. I thought his kids was beautiful with the puppy. What's wrong with that? I don't like dogs. So how do I get a flag from saying Busy Bones' son is beautiful? I'm really confused right now. Do I just get a flag because of the current weather or some shit? It's going to rain today? Give him a flag? This shit out of control. But are you also calling Elder Bars beautiful too? Oh, that's where the flash came from.

22:26Elder Bars is like, I'm getting off of Elder Bars coming out of Secret Garden. That man had the game on. Can I ask him something? Yes. I was shooting Get Out. Get Out might be one of the best movies I've seen. One of the greatest fucking movies ever created. It makes me feel like that shit really happened. No, I was in Get Out. Very believable. No, no, I could tell you my version of Get Out, but get out. I'm telling you. Wait, hold on. It took you all. I want to hear this, though. But so we shot in Alabama, too. Wow. So like. I give it to more. We literally all, it felt like we. You went to the hotel that you hear the shit when you walk in it.

23:12Yeah. When I first met Daniel for the first time, He was coming down this long-ass hallway at the hotel. So we didn't even met yet. And I was scared of this nigga because he was like, what the fuck is this nigga with this workout shit on? Walking fast as fuck towards me, right? It felt like Jordan did that on purpose, put us up in this hotel that was creepy, and the city was creepy. So we all hung out with each other the whole time. Nobody wanted to go anywhere by ourselves. It was kind of crazy. That's it. In modern time. Yeah, it was scary to shoot the movie. It's like using a movie within the movie.

23:45Mm-hmm. My version of Get Out was my neighbor's Kevin Lyles. And Kevin Lyles, big music. Yeah, yeah. He announced he had just did a deal for like$400 million or something. And he calls me. I'm topless. I'm in my house topless and shit. Yeah, yeah. Puerto Rican. You know, Puerto Ricans, you call a Puerto Rican on the phone FaceTime. He topless right now. That nigga ain't got no shirt on in the house. He just ain't got one. I mean, you could say shirtless. I'm topless. I'm watching. I'm chilling. He's like, yo, bro, we celebrating. Come next door. So I'm like, yo, man, you know I'm topless and shit.

24:32I'm already good. He know I'm his neighbor. I can get butter from him. Salt, whatever. I'm like, yo, I'm good. Nah, come through. Russell Simmons, everybody's here. this. I said, all right. Put a shirt on. I go next door. I walk in this. Now you have to understand, not exaggerate. I grew up in a 90 % Black neighborhood. Then my grandmother lived in a 99 % Black neighborhood. 26:03Like, we would like go to the house that the white people took over the brains, and they all Yo, Kevin Lyle's house. That is crazy. They got the scar. I'm telling you, I went to the real one. I was walking around for like a week telling people, yo, I never seen this before.

26:42Like nowhere in the world. Now that you told this story for me, it's like Jordan Peele, you got to do this shit now. Because I always wonder what happened with all the people that they took over. Yeah, where they at? Where they at? It was in Kevin Law's house.

26:59It was Kevin Law's house. Yo, I'm telling you I was confused. I walk in there, I'm like, yo, this is my name. You know, Kevin Loud, you know. I wake up, he'll wake me up. He'll be in my pool with a fucking six-pack of beers. Like, yo, I'm in your pool. Like, we really neighbors. He'll be in that house. He's topless, right? He's topless. He's topless. He's in the pool.

27:29Was all the weird black people topless? No, no, no. They had, like, Phoebe Wallingford. Wallingford, they're eating this shit with, like, nah, this shit was Get Out, the black version, bro. I'm walking up in there, I'm confused. You just said the sequel, that is the sequel to it. I am confused. That's crazy. I walk up in there, I'm like, yo, where are these people? I don't know, I know every black version. I've been in Compton, Alabama, anywhere you could be in the world, the blackest of America, Africa, I've never seen people like this. In 2015, teenager Joy Morgan discovered strangely compelling YouTube sermons from the religious group Israel United in Christ, or IUIC. Her initial curiosity developed into devotion. She distanced herself from friends and family, embraced new identity, immersed herself in the IUIC, and believed she'd found the truth.

31:50IUIC is the best family that I've ever had. In fact, she had found what many called a cult. And on Boxing Day 2018, Joy disappeared forever. In the new six-part investigative podcast, The Missing Sister, Charlie Brinkhurst Cuff and Free Turn explore Joy's story, the family she left, and the religious group she found. 32:32Comedy, are you like funny all the time? Two things, a double question Just for all comedians It always feels like your life is dark in real life Right? These guys commit suicide They go through a lot of shit it just seems like the therapy is comedy. Right? And so with my history, and I like to laugh, so my history of studying comedians is like it comes from a dark place and the humor and is everybody like, are you working on us now? Because I feel like all the comedians, they practice their shit on me all the time. Everybody different, right? I know, like, y 'all know Mike Epps, right? Of course.

33:21Mike is always funny. Like, he always home. It's just what it is. And you got comics who's like that. And then, like, if you're around, like, a Chris Rock, who's super chill. You know what I'm saying? That's a great distinction right there. He always super chill. He's super chill. So I'm a lot, like, I don't do, I don't have to do my stand-up from a dark place, which is, you know, a little legend. You think about Richard Pryor, like, the things he went through is kind of what shaped him as a comic and humor. I tell you. But at the same time, like, I know, it's a balance of both. Like, I've used comedy, like, for instance, like, my dad passed in January.

33:58So I've been working on the next special just dedicated to him. So I went to Chicago maybe a couple months ago and headlined a club for the weekend and literally talked about putting my dad's funeral together, like, everything. And it was. So it's therapy at the same time, but you can find humor in the truth because the thing about it is at the end of the day, comedy always shows the fuck up. Like, I don't care what's going... Like, even when I was planning his funeral and I'm at the funeral home and something funny happened, I'm like, what the fuck, comedy? Even though my saddest shit, it just shows the fuck up.

34:31Well, you gotta have comedy. Even when you used to see the greatest mafia films where the motherfucker was like, do I look funny? What's funny like to you? This, this, this? Like, humor... I did this movie with Mac 10 out in L.A. was caught thicker than water back in the days. And he had this guy. And this guy had to be the funniest dude. He's one of the gangs, because you know there's the gang. And he was the funniest dude. And one day somebody tried him. He said, are you trying me? This was the funniest night. This guy said, you ain't never gang banging your life, nigga. Who you trying? He wound up pounding the dude out.

35:13Pause. Beating him up. middle of the street. And I was like, damn, this the funny guy. They took him for, they thought because he was funny, they took him for granted. That's also true too, Craig. Just because somebody do comedy, you still don't know where they're from. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. That don't mean they won't put hands and feet on you. Oh, he put super hands and feet on them. He said, oh, wait a minute. You think because I tell jokes, that was it. I'm telling you, I never forgot it in my life. He said, oh, you think because I tell jokes and I be laughing. He said, you ain't never gangbanging your life.

35:51Shit out of him. And did he stop? Did he just start joking around again, acting like he didn't do it? He was always just a funny dude, and everybody always needs a funny dude. Like, I don't know what every crew needs to do. Like, Big Pump was our, like, that's what I'm about to say. MCs, y 'all. like between the punchlines y 'all do and all that stuff, y 'all, like most of my friends has been rappers over the time. Like, they're some of the funniest people I know. Yeah. Like, for real. Because the best rappers use humor, like Biggie, black and ugly as ever. However, Coochie Down, you know, pun was witty.

36:28You know what I'm saying? Like, you know, the eye tub popping, but he's funny too. The best rappers are funny. They got some type of humor to it. He said, New York love me like when Mitch hit a free throw. Who the fuck thinking about that? Niggas don't. Mitch can't hit a free throw, but that's humorous. The greatest lyricists have always used Snoo Dogg. I have re-fell in love with the Chronic album. I keep saying this to everybody here. He just, ooh, easy. Oh, you don't know. I'm like, yo, this guy, how can I hear this three years, 30 years later and find it funny? They was like, all right, guess the game.

37:13He was like, this shit, yeah, yeah, 20 seconds. Thanks to fuck bitches. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I started laughing like it's brand new. Like I heard it for the first time. I might have heard it a million times. That's funny. You is funny. This Dave Chappelle show, right? I could never, let me ask you that question, right? Because it happens to me, right? So if I make music, so I create music, and in order to make music, make hits, you got to like it. Yeah. Right? So I'm playing like a record I made that I think is so dope, and I play this shit 20, 30 times a day. And at a point, it gets to the point where I can't even enjoy it no more.

37:59Because I heard it so much, and now I'm hearing it like I don't hear it the same way. Does that happen to you? it'll happen to anybody if you keep playing something two two two two two two that happens in like like when you like I mean not like that but like the my movie is the one I just directed like you I looked at it so many times to the point I'm not sure about certain things anymore you can't be in the moment no more right that's when you start sending it to people right you're like hey I need you to look at this cause I don't I'm too married to it now cause I never the point I'm trying to make is I never could enjoy the Dave Chappelle show because I was too busy thinking who the fuck wrote this shit.

38:44Like, it was so funny to me that I'd be like, this guy had to be on dope. Like, how did he think of this shit? Like, who's on the drugs? Like, this shit, the shit he was doing had me just bugging out like, yo, the fuck? Somebody's crazy to think about this shit. I mean, that's what I loved about the Charlie Murphy stories, man. Like, Charlie was just so, like, he was so real about it and you knew he was serious but he was like we were talking about the gangster guy like he was hysterical though that's who I think Charlie represented too more than anything like he represented those cats that was just funny that you knew like them tough niggas that was just the funniest dude you knew and that's who Charlie Murphy really was you know what I'm saying he wasn't a quote unquote professional comedian but he was a funny motherfucker from your crew yeah that uh man let me tell you something that shit fact without trying though like it was just like you know cause when you hear stories like man just being around Charlie like I have like it was certain stories he would just tell about just hanging out with Eddie it is like we didn't even get all the stories like if you ever hung out with him you like dude I remember one time he told me he told me he got high as fuck and went to the Bronx and started kicking niggas in the chest I'm like why the fuck was you doing that he's like man I was walking to him like bam BAM!

40:03The hours, nigga. I'm like, okay. And I don't even know why he was telling me this shit. Nah, he just said shit. His story, Charlie Murphy, was crazy. And I know a guy, I can't say the name. I can't do the who. No, no. I know a champion boxer who told me that he wears hoodies and a mask on, and he'll go to a local gas station for no reason and knock the nigga out that's pumping the gas. He said, yo, I love this shit, yo. I just pull up in the gas station with the pool, shiesty, hoodie on, nigga pumping gas. I just knock him out. Swear to my mother. Legendary boxer. Told me this shit. I don't know why they tell me stuff like this.

40:51I didn't ask him for it. How old is he now? This nigga hit you. It's like a truck hit you. You just abbreviate. You trying to figure this shit out. That motherfucker still knocked you out. It's crazy because he told me that. He said, yo, Joe, I just pull up in the gas station, hoodie mask some nights, and I just knock a nigga out. And this shit don't make the news or nothing. No. No, he never got caught, obviously. But it should be like a news story. Like, yo, it's a serial. Knock a nigga out, guy. At the gas station, be careful. We probably get it. Las Vegas, we on the lookout for a serial knocker nigga out guy.

41:31That shit crazy. Huh? Yo, I'm telling you. Man, so I ain't gonna wear this shit. How do you like being behind the camera? I love directing. Like, this is my thing now. You know what I'm saying? Like, I took advice from Ava DuVernay and Sean Levy, who I did Free Guy with and does Stranger Things. But Ava was like, yo, real, like, it's an opening in a way for comedy directors. Like, Most people are direct, they're direct comedies, but nobody's like saying like, I'm going to be a comedy director. And she like, it's actually an open lane for that. And I'm like, you know something, you're right. So that's where I'm at with it.

42:07I want to like keep direct, because comedy fit in so many categories. You got comedy horror, rom-coms, comedy action. It's just, you could throw comedy with so many different things. I want to like have my hand on all that shit. And then I got a chance to collab with, hello, he's a little too here? He left? No, he got a trip. we call that a trim fire break. Sky Rizzy, you went to go take a piss. Carlos, Carlos is one of my, like he's in a movie. So like put him, Carlos Billy, I had him up there. And man, he kills this movie. But I was happy. These guys don't miss. He's him and his crew. But that's why I was wondering why nobody put them in like a position to be on a big screen.

42:44They got this crazy following. They're fucking hysterical. They're super talented. And so that's why. Well, I don't know about a comedy. It always takes a real one. It always takes somebody like yourself and throw that out. I don't know if it's comedy, but I just feel like Hollywood got a whole bunch of gatekeeping. And it's like... I think that's overthought. You think what? I think the gatekeeping is... Because first of all, I think people over... When they talk about Hollywood, right? We almost talk about it like it's the Wizard of Oz. Where all of us are part of it anyway. All this shit is Hollywood.

43:17Whether you do an independent film or with a major studio, I just think you gotta be okay with not being a pick me all the time and just create this shit on your own. And so like getting, finding a way to get finessed and shit like that. But that's what made me do a movie with my friends. My thing is, I love outlets like the Remy Network, Tubi, all that. Because you got guys, you got talent, men and women that have talent and they wind up shooting it themselves and you don't need a kabillion dollars and this shit pop off. You know, everything in my life historically, has never been given to me.

43:55It's always been, you got to create it for yourself. Yeah. Everything. Like everything I've ever got, nobody ever gave it to me. It wasn't like I had a big homie. It wasn't like, it's always like, all right, you did it on your own. Congratulations, Joe. Successful. What else you're going to think of? Yeah. Because ain't nobody giving you shit. And so that's why I was telling Rich earlier, I said, you're rich. I got an idea about a series. And I said, I might as well fund this shit. Shoot it hood-wise or whatever. We already know it's going to be ill if we write this shit. You know what I mean?

44:31And then put it on Tubi or Remy Network or some shit like that. Well, anything, right? Even if you do Tubi, like learning just the licensing of things, right? You shoot it on your own. You can license that stuff forever to a bunch of different places. You can get Tubi a couple years and maybe Netflix. Like, it's just, it's like if you learn the business of show business, you'll stop waiting on somebody to give you some shit. I agree. You say no, but I say yes. You waiting for somebody to come put you in some shit, it's not going to happen. And the way it does happen is like, say, Drewski. I happen to know because we got the same barber.

45:07He stole my barber. What the heck? That motherfucker can't give me a cut no time soon. He after movie after movie, Drewski? Oh, no, he the new Kevin Hart. Like, he's just, he's disrespecting the bags. Like, he just got movie after movie after movie after. Next year, we're going to see him everywhere. He's going to be on every movie everywhere. He's just caking up legend. But I think once you get on that run that it's like you on fire, then, you know, everybody, oh, I got an idea. A little realm. Well, this thing about it, it's about consistency, though, right? And that's, I'm actually fascinating to see, like, what the, a lot of the internet guys, what their loan game is.

45:52You know what I'm saying? Because it's hard to stay consistent. You know what I'm saying? Like, it's the game of the game. It's consistency. I think Drewski, out of almost everybody, and King Batu's also. Yeah, because you can't, you can't knock him in the. No, I think they have an opportunity to do something very unique. Because Drewski, like, I think we was somebody outside. out there was somebody out of Living Color and he was able to do like a one man and Living Color what he's doing, right? It's kind of crazy. You know what I'm saying? Come on now. That's fact. No, for real. You want to got the organic coffee, man.

46:23That's why I tell you Dunkin' Donuts, man. Or Kiss Cafe. Kiss Cafe, baby. Give me some Kiss Cafe with some Splendor in there. Cold, bro. God, dang it. It's funny. I was like, yeah, because, you know, I was saying something deep. You was like, you had your French hat on with the little shit on top. What the fuck is this coffee, yo? With the green beret? You had your French shit on. You was like, oh. If you didn't, then I did that. I was like, because the industry needs to be like, what the fuck is this, yo? This shit is crazy. Yo, I hear you real, but what the fuck? No, no, it's nasty. Dunkin' Donuts.

46:58No, that shit was poison, bro. What was that? He just gave him some shit, some bullshit. Do you like iced coffee? Zewski really did a one-man living coffee. I think he's doing it. I think what he's doing is, and I'm proud of him because, you know, he's actually somebody that has respect too for the game. You know what I'm saying? He shows everybody love. He's not like, you know, I like the fact he's taking these pressure moments and he's showing up. And we'll see, like I said, like he ain't never going to blow up till he put the dick in his ear like the weighing guy. Jesus Christ. What the fuck?

47:32What's that shit? White girls or something? What was that shit? What they was? Scary movie? What's the shit? One of them shits, he had a dick in his ear in the bathroom through the hole. You know, I've been trying to get... You can't pay me for that. You can't. Too bad to put a dick. A dick in your ear in the bathroom. What's the shit? Glory hole, they call that shit or some shit. That nigga did it. The wands. It's not... I mean, look it up. Like, how much did they pay this man to do that? To even assume the position? I think he... I think they wrote it. Yeah, yeah. he wrote it he wrote it and said I want a dick in my ear in the yo you got it like what kind of drugs yo we talking about some of the edgiest stuff ever written this from them oh man them guys are fucking serious if it's the joke they gonna go through it was the first pro LGBT remember they had the character on Living Color Yeah, it's raining, man.

48:37It's raining, man. Hallelujah. What was the educated guy? Oh, he's the deep dude in jail. Oh, yeah, yeah. The 50-year-old man. I'm the hemoglobin. These guys. He's like the comedian. He was saying all types of crazy things. All types of shit. You know, we know smart dudes like, yo, let me tell you something. This guy was smart. Let me tell you. I had a guy in my hood. And I hope he don't kill me because he was really a gangster. Nah. Nah, I can't. he's really a gangster, really a killer. And if he sees this, he's probably going to be mad at me. But I remember back in the day, this shit was the 90s.

49:14He was showing me videos of guys saying there was going to be no more cash. There was going to be credit cards. The whole time, like, yo, what the fuck is wrong with this thing? Because he was saying no more cash. They're going to get credit card, Illuminati shit. I'm talking about the 90s. And all that shit start coming true. Now I'm like, yo, this motherfucker knew some shit 20 years ago. Like, that shit, you go to the barbershop, they play that shit. Yo, if you ever look at the dollar, you see the pyramid, the disc, but a lot of that shit they was talking about really fucking, it was going to be phones where you could talk to a guy with their face and this 20 years ago.

49:56I mean, that's a Star Trek episode. Like, if you watch Star Trek, they was FaceTiming first and all types of shit. I feel like all this shit existed way before they just gave it to us. Even with this AI shit. I feel like AI existed way longer than we think. I met AI niggas. You ever met them? I met AI. I'm in Dubai. You know, we use these concierge and they do like this. Shoulders moving. you don't smile, no emotion. I'm telling Rich and I'm like, yo, this guy, AI, this guy's a real robot, a real person. I promise you, I believe, I'm at, yo, get Rich Play over here. They using them in Dubai. They using them.

50:49These guys, when you look at them, they're not walking like human beings and all that. And they're not smiling. They're not nothing. I'm telling you, they got AI, concierge in Dubai. now when y 'all go out there look at the concierge you're gonna be like yo Fat Joe might not be fucking lying I'm gonna tell you something I bought my kids when they were maybe like 5, 6, 7 years ago remember those little robots pet things I promise you I turned that motherfucker off I know I switched it off because I was already kind of weird about this because I don't fucking trust robots. I wake up, this motherfucker was red eyes, just doing shit.

51:33I threw that bitch out my house. Rich player, never comes on the show. Rich, you can be the voice. Why Rich making that face? When we go to Dubai, the concierge guys at Dubai. Yeah. Straight AI. Robots? I'm telling them. No, like this, look. Helping you, grabbing your bags. Nah, this ain't... Why you ain't filming? they're filming them all day but they look like human beings with the way they moving and they move their head and all that you know Dubai's always ahead of time with everything I'm telling you they're working the guinea pigs right now in Dubai of the real guys walking through grabbing your bags they don't smile they don't do nothing they got no emotion we was killing them I don't know how to snapping on them calling them all type of shit he like he like yo look this Yo, this shit, you be killing them.

52:29Anybody would have either got mad or laughed. Did that scare you, though? Because everybody, you seeing this shit, that shit was frightening. That shit was scary as fuck. It's scary as fuck. I'm telling you, I had a guy that his shoulders go like the movies. What the fuck did you do? He looked like this, but he's human. He looks human, but he don't smile. We was destroying him. You even got to get angry or you got to smile. This guy was like... Should've smacked him. He probably fucked you up, this guy. He's AI. That's Robo. That scares me, though. I'm a scabber. No, it scared the shit out of me.

53:05I'm going to go take a bathroom break, too. You sure you don't? You're not our age yet, bro. Hey, I'm sitting here. I get it. Take a bathroom. We got to take a bathroom break right now. This is actually the greatest shit ever. Just a straight value moment.

56:38Come on, folks. Sit on the couch, get him a mic. So tell us about the movie. Hold on, we got to do the toast. Okay. Where my shit at? Keep it 18. Yo, get low. I never blasted. Get my nigga mug, man. I'm keeping it then. Yeah, I'm keeping it. That's my only condition. Listen to the movie, bro. Low, say something good about it. Let the people know what we doing. For all the real ones out there, we keeping it 1800. Talk about the movie, bro. First of all, my boy Real making his directorial debut. Let's make some noise for that. First and foremost. Let's go, Ralph. What the fuck are you talking about?

57:18I know y 'all can relate to this man. When I first met this man, we was putting together a$20 piece to get some ground turkey to make some burgers on the George Foreman. I love that. From the trenches, baby. Straight from the trenches. I watched him jump into the movie game. Super proud of him. He been putting it down and he got to get behind the camera. You ever see your boy do some shit you ain't know he could do? Like, I'm thinking he just, you know what I'm saying about the just talking little shit like y 'all do this right here but nah he got the monitors he like give me a 15 bring the lights up that's crazy little step to the left he know that shit he know that shit man so I'm super proud of him he called me I was like real it don't matter what it is man you've been a real one anytime you call me I'm going we put together a super dope project man we got special effects we got monsters we got we got drama we got laughing We got crime.

58:09We got comedy, man. So what's the name of the movie? We got on it. On it. On it. On it. Let's go. Yeah, man. Bad Joe, you funny as hell, man. I saw you didn't want the next series to end. You was like, Timothee Chalamet, he ain't calling me no more. Oh, no, he ain't calling me since. I'm realistic. No more. You know, Timothee hanging out with me every day, bro. Yeah, let's go. That motherfucker ain't calling me since, man. He call you next season. Next season. I'll see him next season. We season new friends. Yo, you know who did me like that? Who? It's Blake Griffin. Blake Griffin? Blake Griffin.

58:48He didn't look like everybody wanted to hang out with Blake. He wanted to hang out with Blake. Did he go to Chicago? He came to like the comedy festival in Montreal, the Just For Last Festival. All the comedians go, and he did stand-up. So he was all our friend for like the week. We was hanging out. I thought we was going to be friends. Man, we just felt. Y 'all embraced him? We embraced him. We had five in winter. and we partied together. And then when we got back to regular life, I saw him at the Soul House. I was like, what's up, Blake? He was like, hey. And then walked away. I'm like, damn.

59:14Oh, man. I was hurt by that. I was like, man, we was buddies. I was bragging about that, buddy. Hip-hop is the king of that. Especially your up-and-coming rapper is the king of that. You mean, yo, you know how many people be like, yo, I met DMX, like artists I had back in the day. Met DMX. He says when he do a whole album with me, this and this. I see your brother. DMX ain't never. What do you mean, yo, I met Pharrell? Pharrell said, Pharrell ain't never calling you back. When I met R. Kelly for the first time and the man said, yo, Fat Joe, I want to do a song with you. I gently put my hand on his shoulder because I was still 90 % hood, 10 % rapper.

59:58I said, yo, don't lie to me because I can't even believe you even know who I am. fuck out of here. I grew up with the Puerto Ricans. I love Fat Joe this. And we did the song. It was like, you know, he wasn't full of shit. Like, it was like, you find more full of shit people in this business than you find actually people with, it's just actually hard to believe their word. Like, now when you see somebody do that, society's so fucked up, that now when somebody give you their word or they a real one, it's like shocking that someone kept their word. You're like, oh, wow. This guy's a man of his word.

1:00:38It's not supposed to be like that with morals and principles. What I think about, it's like, it's also interesting when you like, and I think that's why the play Griffith hurts so much because I was like, man, because we saw a basketball player do what we do, right? We like, he came into our world. Like, we can't, I can't go, like, he could just jump in a school. It's cool that you go to Clippers and get a 10. Yeah, but it's cool that you even You're a good person, brother, because most of these comedians, to me, I feel like when somebody outside of a comedian tries to, they better be the funniest.

1:01:15They did not believe in it. You know how many comedian friends I got this big time that was like, y 'all, I just want to be a comedian. Not everybody don't embrace it. This is the scary part. When we all saw Blake on stage, he was so fucking funny. That's what really made us uncomfortable. And I remember laughing. Man, he was fucking hysterical. Wow. I don't even say that shit all the time. Maybe that's his calling. The motherfucker was, the shit he was doing and talking about the NBA, like it was like, it was like, yo, this, it's actually irritating. I remember I was laughing like, ha, ha. You can jump out the gym and tell jokes, motherfucker.

1:01:58His brother was cold too. Yeah. But I mean, Blake is funny on stage, though, Carlos. I'm not even lying. It was actually surprising. You could. But I'm just like very one-dimensional. No, he could. Why he can't pick me up, bro? Why he can't pick me up? I fucking hate it. I beat it. Why he can't pick me up? Man, look at Joe right, man. You see? I can get him right. I believe that. I believe. You believe that? Yeah, he can help you and get it with his expertise. You can get right. What you got a little bit of and what he got a lot of, he can help you. You don't get it, man. He got plenty of shit to talk about.

1:02:44You a storyteller. You just got to shorten it up. It's just you got to shorten it. It's about 80 niggas. No, keep the hell. No, Stephen A. Smith. Stephen A. Smith came in. I want to kick it with Joe one time. I just need to kick it with Fat Joe for like one weekend so we can have the premise, the setup every time is it's me and a hundred niggas. Every joke starts like, that's when the crowd know, oh shit about to get good. So it's me and a hundred Puerto Rican niggas. It's my grandmother's 77th birthday. We eating grilled cheese. I'm talking about some of the best cheeses. The softest bread. You niggas never seen bread this soft.

1:03:33You never seen cheese this right here, boy. Yo, that's it. Oh, my God.

1:03:45Yo, I didn't even tell you niggas about the soup. He been doing this all day. He been doing this all day? Man. Yo. They talk shit all day. I don't give a fuck. Yo. Anytime you start off a story, like, I want you to, even if it wasn't, I want you to say it was 100 niggas. Fuck a regular story, nigga. Who else get to travel with 100 niggas? Nigga, that's funny. I'm going to tell you, he been doing this shit. Like, you know what I'm saying? He been doing this all the day. 100 lobsters, 100 steaks, 100 Puerto Rican. He just started all the stories when it was 100 Puerto Rican. Let me ask you a question.

1:04:23This room ain't so big. 40 guys come in. Say 30. Wouldn't it feel like a hundred niggas? Everywhere you turn around, there's motherfuckers over you, this and that. You be like, yo, what's a hundred niggas? This shit is crazy. That's the funny part of it. Yo. Nobody ever questioned. If it was a hundred niggas. Nobody ever questioned. Nobody ever questioned. How about, you know where I got these motherfuckers? The Roots Picnic. Right? Now you want to hear comedy. Because I know the leader of your comedy, the whole cult. Who? Your whole Masonic thing. What the fuck? Hold up. Wait a minute. Listen.

1:05:02I ain't just doing all this shit. The leader of the cult is Dave Chappelle. Dave Chappelle. I'm at the Roots picnic, and I'm trying to figure out where to go. And I seen him walking. I said, follow him. He know. And everybody's Haleem, Kwaleem, all these fucking backpack rappers. Everybody walking with the nigga De La Soul. He's the leader. He's walking through like the Messiah. So I said, yo, we better follow Dane Chappelle. So we going up this thing. And I turned around and they're like, yo, Joe, what's up? I said, now y 'all wouldn't believe me if I told you I was with a hundred things. I believe you.

1:05:42I was with a hundred things. Only thing Dane Chappelle's running this show right now. There's a hundred of them. Niggas start dying laughing at the staircase. I'm like, yo, it is what it is. He got us in backstage. Security moved out the way for 100 guys. Backstage of Jay-Z, you know, Beyonce. Like, they just, they Chappelle come. Yeah. You got to go to - They move out the way. He do a big summer camp at his crib. He got a, he got like 100 acres. And he do a big comedy show, like on some - He got a comedy club there. Oh, I got, I hope I'm invited. Man, she gave me the sneakers. Because it's out in the middle of nowhere in Yellow Springs, Ohio.

1:06:25and like, he owned the whole fucking town. He even put a dispensary. No, that's what he said. Yeah, he got an on-dispensary. This nigga owned the pizza shop, the pharmacy. He did say he owned the whole shit. Did you ever see? He owned the whole town. He spoke at the city council. Like, I think there was something going on. Yo, need the roads over here. They wanted to build a new fire department. They had to ask him and make it do the shit. He bought the old one and turned it into a club. so after the show he take everybody to the fire department and this thing got it laid out it just looked fucked up outside Ricky you know you my girl man I gotta get invited to these things no Ricky she worked with them that's my manager Ricky's your manager I'm telling you yo Ricky what's up yo it's me and a hundred niggas

1:07:23you know I saw the coolest shit I posted in no he wasn't Dave Chappelle like you said Dave Chappelle is the top dog he would have y 'all perform too he would have y 'all perform listen I'm the only guy right so I go see Eddie Murphy's Raw with my whole project the whole projects 500 of us. It's 500 niggas. 500. Out of the whole 500 niggas, guess who gets thrown out the movie theater? This one nigga right here. I cannot, I will die of laughter. Like, if you're funny, I don't give a fuck. I'm laughing louder than life. There's nothing I can do. I just, I got a weakness. I will laugh. and so them niggas was like yo you gotta go you doing too much Eddie Murphy Raw they just smoking blood drinking 40 ounce I'm the only sober one they throw me out of the old movie theater like yo you gotta go my man you doing too much I love laughing so much I would die we gotta ask y 'all this cause we such big fans of rappers and it's like you do some shit like this and then you get around the niggas and then you leave you be singing y 'all shit all day you be leaving out of this bitch like what's love So my shit I always wanted to ask What was that moment for you Both of y 'all Let him go first Where you felt like Now the rap shit makes sense It's not just chasing the dream You mean money or what It's just that moment You felt like you was actually in the game And you weren't just chasing the dream You gotta go first You gotta go first Don't feed off of my fucking you want to fucking feed off my shit it's not me let the youth decide youth on the move I know mine I don't know I can't really say I mean you can't say when it's Benjamins maybe the Benjamins when the Benjamins came out because we didn't really like it we didn't think it was going to be what it was That was probably like the last song that we recorded.

1:09:46You ain't like Benjamin? We didn't like the beat. You could even rap to the Benjamin beat, but it don't matter. And then it was like the shit started changing after the Benjamin. On the Benjamin, you started wearing like white suits and shit. Kiss. Let me ask you this, though. Remember I brought the rooftop joint, right? That was at one of the award shows, right? That was an MTV, one of the MTV awards. That didn't feel like that? Because that was like your own album, too. And it was, I remember that moment was like, yo, this nigga's the best nigga in the world right now. That felt good because it was my solo.

1:10:23But, you know, being with Puff and writing for him and seeing all of the accolades and shit he was getting, it felt good to do you know get my own flowers cause I was getting they kicked me out of the garden for the other shit but this is the thing about it it's funny cause both of y 'all got hits that like that became the club play over again hits everybody don't get that like where they keep starting that motherfucking anthems we call them anthems everybody don't have them though I'm gonna tell you what it was for me and I was already big Pun was already double platinum. We already did a lot.

1:11:08I remember one year I was cold and I was in my mother and father's house, New Year's Eve. And for us, before rap, before anything, I don't know if it was a Puerto Rican thing or we celebrated. To this day, my birthday and New Year's Eve, guarantee Fat Joe is shit-faced drunk. Those are the two days I dedicate this whole year to like, it's New Year's Eve. I'm drunk. There's nothing you could do. My birthday, I'm walking out the room with a fucking 1800, like, nine in the morning. Yeah, I don't give a fuck. Those are the two days I'ma say. Do you, like, go to bed with it? No, no, no. When I wake up.

1:11:49How about for a nigga that don't drink? I got bars all over my crib, B. I got bars on every floor, nigga. I'm not lying to you. It's too much. So I go like this. But the point is, One New Year's Eve, I'm with my mother and father, and it's quiet. It's just quiet. I'm there with them, and we in the house in Miami. And I'm watching the rocking New Year's Eve, and I said to myself, I said, I'm going to be on that bitch next year. Fuck that. I'm going to New Year's Eve next year. I was in New Year's Eve performing New York, Lean Back. The next year, I was on a test. So it must have been 2003. I'm with my mother and them because 2004 is when Lean Back and New York and all that shit came out New Year's Eve I'll never forget I had the fucking velour suit on and that was fucking Times Square and I was like yeah I said I was gonna do this shit last year and I did that moment there it was like just think about it how many kids you know we watch all these shows when I was a kid in elementary I would watch Michael Jackson Moonwalk I watch fucking Boy George come up, come up, come up, win the every fucking award.

1:13:05Madonna they coming with little Michael Jackson coming with homeboys sitting him on his lap. What's my man? Emmanuel Lewis. So I'm looking at all this shit and I'm like yo, and you come the next day after that award show, there is no social studies currently. We're just talking about the award show. Like, that's... So, to actually get successful enough to where we perform and we actually won these awards, that was another moment for me where I went to jail, lost all my money. Remy went to jail for eight years, lost all her money. Hold up, you lost all your money? They took all my money. I never thought you lost the paper.

1:13:48Oh, no, I lost all my paper. I ain't never seen you fucked up. Oh, no, no, I ain't never gonna be... That told me the haircut, dirty shoes, or nothing. You ran this shit back up. You know how these people say, You see how these people say, yo, I was homeless. I robbed the bank. I sell big drugs. I'm never going to be broke. So they took all my money. I still had Cuban links on and ice and brand new. I'm not the one. When it comes to that, you ain't never seeing me like that. So I'm going to get to the back. I never even heard that. It's true. They took all my money, millions and millions of dollars.

1:14:22The point is, we make all the way up, and me and Remy is backstage, and Samuel L. Jackson is in the audience, and everybody. We made it back, and we just held each other's hands, like, real tight. And they said, all right, performing Fat Joe and Remy all the way up. You see that show there? That was the most energy I had in my life. I came out there with, I had some shit on. I must have had, like, some mermaids, a boat. I was like, come all the way up. nothing can stop me that was a moment for me too that was like a real like wow we're back we're getting to the bag you know we're back where we need to be you know what I'm saying that was a big moment for me big huge let me ask you because you're asking them this because we all I think everybody has this very specific moments you just don't forget you know what I'm saying where you're like oh shit I'm here what was yours shit Let me see.

1:15:22Hitting that Benz dealership for the first time. Because y 'all know it's different when they know you got it. When you just like working and you can afford this shit, you got to call the bank. You might have to go get it. You might have to run to the house and get another idea or something. But when they know you good for it, they'll throw you that bitch and be like, ah, come back tomorrow and fill out the paperwork. That was when. when they start trying to give me shit. When they stop asking, how you going to pay for it? You want to put this in the company name? Shit like that. I was like, yeah!

1:16:01Turn that bitch up. And then I took it to give some shit and looked at it. You know how you do your maintenance and shit. And then the lady brought the other shit around that I was looking at and she put a bow on it. How about when they bring shit that you know yourself, you can't afford it. They start bringing you shit. You're like, I don't think so right now. I'm like, I don't want the hydro plane. It only works on water.

1:16:28How's the Ben's truck? I really got my eye on this one. They start bringing out shit you can't even afford still. But you're like, nah, I'm good. They start bringing out electric Rolls Royces. This is the spectrum. You're not talking about shit. I jumped in that bitch and I was like, I had to hit him with the motherfucker paid in full. White niggas ain't even got this shit. Let me tell you something. I went, I went, one of the illest hustlers, get money dudes in the planet Earth in Harlem was my man, Von Zip, rest in peace. One day he picked me up and said, yo, come with me. I'm going to Benz's and his true story.

1:17:09And the man buy new Benz and pay with old money. Like the shit smell like the cemetery. The old little faces. He paid maybe$100 ,000 with like letting me know he pulled that shit out the wall. Like I'm like there, he's like yo Joe, old money bitch. This shit ain't, hey. I'm like looking at him, I said yo this the hell. For no reason he wanted to prove to me that he bought the car$100 ,000 or whatever with fucking the old shit look orange, buddy. He had this shit so long. Like yo, this nigga stunted on me. Crazy. What was your moment. Damn. Well, it's funny because you, it's like you got those moments, but then you have moments where you're like, all right, this is a big deal.

1:17:56It happened twice. It happened when Get Out came out. When I went into the, when I showed up, nobody knew who I was on the carpet. Nobody did no interviews with me and no shit like that. Wow. And we watched a movie and when it ended, me and my team came out and I was just like, oh, wow, I'm on a big screen. I was just happy to see myself on there. and you know they had a lower level with the people who are not the cast just coming to the premiere when I tell you those people bum rushed me and security had to walk me to my car and I remember going in the car talking to my team like what the fuck is gonna happen you know what I mean like it was just you just felt like it felt like it was a life changing it was just so cool right on the spot it was crazy and then the second time was I did one of my specials at the Chicago theater So that whole day was that.

1:18:45Like me looking at my name in lights, a little real live concert comedy film. It's like, oh shit. And then when I shot it, it was a great set. I had Crucial Conflict open up for me. I didn't even have no comic open. It was fucking crazy. But it was a moment where I was done and everybody was standing up. And my mom passed at 09, but for a brief second, I saw her sitting there. She was there. Just her spirit. Oh, her spirit. Yeah, it was kind of crazy. And so that was that moment where like... Well, you know that happens. Yeah. You know, just yesterday, my wife said, my mom's came in her dream and said, yo, why you don't even want flowers?

1:19:25I need flowers. My mother ain't here no more. She said she sent over the flowers to her. You know, we still got the house. I said, but nobody's there. And she's like, nah, nah. I sent over the flowers. She went flowers. You know, they send you the message. They pop up. They'll let you know what they think Check this out. This ain't that. That ain't this. It's Crack and Kiss. Make some noise for Rel and Los. Horned Heist, baby. Yes, sir. Yeah.

1:20:02Foodies, unite. This is Angie Martinez from IRL Podcast. Here to tell you about something new and delicious from McDonald's. So they just released an all-new Caesar sauce that is a creamy blend of rich Parmesan, zesty lemon, and bold garlic flavors. The sauce on a chicken Caesar snack wrap, ooh, or the McCrispy Strips, delicious. Which, by the way, the crispy strips are even crispier now. And that combination is perfect for McDonald's. And for a drink, I'll probably have a nice cold Sprite to go along with that perfectly, and I will be a happy girl. Don't take my word for it. Try it out for yourself.

And now I'm back to unpack more divas, more drama, more stories from the present and the past that I'm muy excited to tell you about. We're going to have fun.
