In short

Episode topic: T.I. promotes his new album Kill the King, discusses why he keeps working with Pharrell, and shares stories about his career—especially his relationship with Atlantic Records and the “poster” that got replaced. The hosts also trade anecdotes about hip-hop, sports, and touring.

Guests

T.I. (Atlanta trap pioneer; 12 studio albums; long-running major-label and independent career; operates the Trap Music Museum on The Bluff). Hosts are Joe and Jada (Joe Crack the Don / Joe and Jada show).

Key claims

  • T.I. says Pharrell warned him his first album might not immediately “blow,” and T.I. later went independent and then learned from Atlantic when his “shit is on fire” versus being treated differently after setbacks.
  • He claims he’s still “unrecoup” with Atlantic decades later.
  • He says his 12th and final studio album isn’t about money but about giving kids a chance and stepping aside.

Notable examples

  • Atlantic lobby poster story: T.I.’s giant poster was removed and replaced with “God” (later tied to Khalifa in his account).
  • Pharrell collaboration: recording “Let Him Know” on a yacht/boat in Miami/Bahamas; T.I. says it instantly sounded like a hit.
  • Mentions 21 Savage’s first introduction video and his “it factor,” plus shout-outs to Lotto and Max B.

We haven't let you down yet. When you think of today's guests, you think of a king who built his throne from the ground up. You feel me? You think Bankhead. Think Atlanta. You think of trap music before trap music had a name.

3:15Trap museum. You think of someone who turned every setback into a setup, every closed door into a grand hustle, 12 albums deep, Billboard, Indie Power Play. You hear me? Power. And he's going out on his own terms. He's a fucking pitcher. Unapologetically. And with his sons by his side. ladies and gentlemen please join us in welcoming to the Joe and Jada show the king of the south tip our guy T.I. makes up what's happening what's happening what's happening what's happening you know the comedians come up in I tell them listen tip funny as fuck I don't know what y 'all niggas say I seen him do this shit oh you gonna get kicked I'm sorry about that but he got Dolan in them calling them so you know you get it You know what I mean?

4:16Man, I remember we did. I said, you see, we ran into each other at a comedy club at what show? You did. I had the show on Stars, and I went over there. I interviewed you, and then you did the comedy at your bar, your lounge. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, we did. I went to the museum. Right, right, yeah. I went up in there to Trap Museum. That's crazy. So listen, guys, he has a museum based on trap music. But you in the trap. Yeah, it's the element. You been here yet? I haven't been. Yo, bro, it's the trap. So the whole shit is... That's appropriately proper for me. But the area where the Trap Music Museum exists right now, where it is, that's the bluff.

5:05That really, you know... That's the bluff. There weren't no other businesses. There weren't no other establishments over there before the Trap Music Museum. We made it a destination for tourists and shit. You know, I'm glad. They moved two blocks down to sell dope. I'm glad you said it. I'm glad you said The Bluff. Yeah. You ever seen that movie, The Bluff? It's on The Bluff. That shit was the best movie I've ever seen in my life. 52 years before that movie came up. Curtis Snow, that's the whole. I'm not saying that. I'm saying that. I honestly thought that was reality. Oh, The Bluff. I said, yo, these niggas are going to jail for 10 ,000 years.

5:40They shot a movie that was so real It was I thought it was real Like real This guy is crazy Yeah man The bluff was like the bluff Did you see the bluff Did you see what I'm talking about I've been in the bluff I've been in the bluff I'm talking about the real life That shit is real Hey the funny part is Both of y 'all niggas right though. Both of y 'all are right. Yo, that was the best movie ever, The Bluff. I was like, yo, I was like, I said, this nigga crazy, they had some shit once. What was that channel they made? 2 Chainz had a show on there, Vice TV. When they was with the Taliban all the time.

6:26You remember they used to shoot shit nobody dared go to? That's what the fuck The Bluff was. The Bluff, I thought it was real. It is, bro. It's crazy. It's totally authentic, man. Yo, I'm looking at that shit. I see you. These things just crazy right here. This shit is nuts. T.I., man, thanks for coming up, man, and blessing the Joe and Jadys show. You know, you took my—do you ever hear the story about how you took my poster off the wall in Atlantic Records? What the hell, man? What are you talking about? No. As many times as I don't want to hear this story again. You wish it had perfect time.

7:06This is the perfect time. Nah, listen to everybody, man. So for a couple of years, I had the biggest poster in the Atlantic Records, the giant size shit. And one day I came up in there and they took my shit out. And it was a TI poster. And they were like, yo, this is the young guy right now. He's the biggest guy. Man, they hurt my ego like a motherfucker. Damn, bro. I see, yo, what happened to this? I used to walk in there and beat my chest. I had the biggest poster. They said, yo, it's a new guy. His name is God. That motherfucker on fire. Hey, look, let me add on to the story. Okay, so that's your story.

7:48Okay, so Atlantic, man, Atlantic been great to me. We had a phenomenal run. You know what I'm saying? I count my cases. You know, they stood by me. I go to prison the second time. and I'm coming out and I'm looking for that poster. It's with him. It's with Khalifa. It's with Khalifa. It's with Khalifa. Come on, come on. That shit was with Khalifa. And that's some shit. Also, you know what I... Now that y 'all say that, and I go to the label, I gauge it by the pitch when you walk in you can kind of see where they're spinning the bread at when they first time the whole lobby when you get off the elevator it look like you quit all you see is you after years and few you should start looking like a passport I see niggas like alright I see where I see where they go you know I learned a lot from the major label I love that you independent you with my guys guys in your name, man, them guys over there, man.

9:00They the best guys in the fucking world. They helped me change my life and get my shit right. Equity and ownership and all that. But I learned a lot, man, in the major label, man, because I remember one minute I'm the hottest motherfucker in the world. The next minute they treated me like I had AIDS. Oh, shit. I had to adjust. God damn. God damn, bro. You say that. I can't say that. Oh, yeah, okay. Well, nah, man. I ain't going to waste my hand on that one. We got this bag. I ain't going to waste my hand on that one. Big one. Big bag I got to tell you about. Yo, but listen. I went the motherfucking way.

9:44I was at MTV Awards at BET. And I see, fuck it, I'll see it. I seen Craig Calment. Yeah. And I see yo Craig. I used to hang out in this office every day. I said, yo, Craig, nigga, ran away from me. like I had AIDS. You bullshit. Swear to God. He ran away from me like I had leprosy or something. That's when I learned. I see you. I see you. These niggas don't give up. But hold up, though. Fuck, my nigga. Like, yo. I remember they had us together, though. Like, we was like the Justice League or some shit. Yeah, yeah, yeah. They had me, you, fat. You was trick daddy. Huh, and trick. Trick daddy and fat.

10:21Lil' Kim. They had all those kid tours and shit. I'm telling you, the one time my shit didn't do, you know, it went gold, too, that nigga acting like I had some shit. Like, he just went, I said, oh, this guy's running away from me. He was like, joke. And, you know, this industry, it run like that. It run like if you hot, you can really think that everybody loves you. And you go through that little period, and you turn around, and you'll see what's what, who's who, and most likely nobody's who's who. You know, the good shit is I came in the game where I thought that, you know what I'm saying, I was that nigga Pharrell at the gate.

11:04I thought that. And Pharrell warned me when we were working on my first album. He said, yo, you dope. You so dope. It's going to take you a minute. Like, don't, you know, don't be surprised if this first motherfucker don't blow. I say, man, fuck that. You know what I'm saying? And then the first motherfucker dropping, it did nothing. You know what I'm saying? I had to get there and kind of pull it back together and work on my own shit hand to hand. Go independent, kind of got off my first label. Thank you, L.A. Reed. And then I went to Atlantic and learned what it was like when your shit is on fire and you had a building behind you.

11:43But I always knew what the shit could go back to. You know what I'm saying? I remember what it was like to have a building, but not really have a building. You know what I mean? You know, I was introduced into the game. You already know when it's a real moment, you need a real bottle. That's why we rock with 1800 Tequila. Y 'all heard me? These people been making tequila for 11 generations. That's right, 11. That's a legacy. That's OG status. OG. They were the first to introduce a Nejo. Set the standard before most of these brands even existed. And you could taste the difference for real. The 1800 Cristalino and Reposado is what we've been on lately.

12:26Smooth, clean, elevated. No burn, no rough edges. Just a premium pour that speaks for itself. You know when something is just built right? That's what this is. Real talk, that's just what it is. It's always around for the best nights, the wins, the celebrations, the remember that night story. Whether you're keeping it low-key with the crew or you're pulling up to a big event. 1 ,800 fits every setting. It ain't trying too hard. It's just that. 1 ,800 tequila. Real legacy. Real smooth. That's the move. True, true, true. One. Man, I turned around. They said to me one day, they said, man, you got to be like T.I.

13:08He just told two million records. I ain't told you. Just told two million records. They ain't told you no shit like that, Joe. I'm telling you what the fuck they told me. Nah, man, they ain't told you no shit. ain't nobody told you you gotta be like T.I. who told you that Joe? I don't hold it against you I'm telling you what the fuck happened you were not there who don't tell Joe he got to be like T.I. you know I got one witness man who's the dude I forgot his name he used to manage Lil' Kim you definitely Gene Nelson Gene fucking Nelson is my witness I got to bring him up to the show. He fought him.

13:51He fought. Thank God, Gene, that they ain't listened to him. Because I went in there. They told me, yo, man, you only went gold this time. You're a failure. I couldn't sleep that night. They tell you shit. I swear to God, right? And I said to myself, Atlantic Records. I don't remember who. And so I turned around and I'm like, I did the math. at the time, they were giving like$7 of fucking record independent. And I said, you know what? If I went gold, I'd be making three and a half million. I went back the next day. I said, you're right. I'm not like T.I. I'm underground now. Let me go, this, this, that.

14:29And they said, no problem. Let me go. And your man, matter of fact, fuck you, Gene Nelson. He's like, let me tell you something. He's trying to keep Keep me on slavery records, nigga. I say, yo. They were all like, let's leave. He got up like Fat Joe was the Patti LaBelle of the... This is the face of the label. How dare you? He started arguing with them. You're making a grave mistake. Don't let him go. Thanks. Shut the fuck up. Yo, yo, Gene. He was like, I thought he was defending me. I didn't realize he was trying to keep you on. put you in a 211 trip. 10 cents a record. So then I left. How you end up with 10 cents a record?

15:21No, I mean, that game. He's just exaggerating. I'm just exaggerating. You really mean 11.

15:30Listen, I'm still Unrecoup at Atlantic 30 years later, bro. I put out an album with Gazi, sell 100 ,000 records and make a couple of mil. Them niggas over there, we sold millions. I'm still unrecouped and shit. Slavery on tour for real. Like this forever. And so, but anyway, Gene Nelson, my brother, man. Thank you for fighting for me. The man wanted me. He was smart. I wanted to do that. Make it rain out there. So four million records. Independent on the motherfuckers. Somebody had to be tight at that one. Somebody had to be like, yo, you let them go. That nigga put one out the park right after.

16:09Yeah, that was like. I always felt like I was getting them mad and shit. I just was like, yo, every time I threw out another hit, I was like, yeah, these motherfuckers. You always had a song though, bro. I don't remember a time when you didn't have a bop, bro. You always had one. Yeah, but what I'm saying is I was trying to get them mad. I don't know if they gave a fuck. I don't know if they ever really, truly gave a fuck about me. You know, your man Jordan said, when you watched that last dance, Jordan said he looked at it. He used to look at dudes on the bench to do that. He said shit to me like, oh, you said that?

16:45You needed something to stop. I'm going to give you 45. So you got to have a hand in me. You got to ask somebody to motivate you. That's for real. 25-year run. 12th and final studio. Why 12th and final? I guess you got so much money you said fucking... You know what? It ain't got shit to do with the money. You know what I'm saying? Even though it's there, it ain't got nothing to do. It ain't got nothing to do with the money. You told me one time. You don't remember. He told me one time, yo, I don't need no money, Joe. I'm so good. I ain't got to do shit no more. One time I was talking, I said, damn, that must feel good.

17:25Yeah, I spent that money, though. You spent that shit. You spent that shit. I spent that money. You're like, yo, I ain't got to do shit. Yo, I said, damn, this motherfucker kicked the fuck up. Nah, man, but to be honest with you, bro, just going from where I came from, man, as a kid, just watching video music, Bop, and Rap City, and you're on TV, Rap, just looking and praying and hoping to be a part of this. Going from that kid to where I am now, you know, 25 years in, and I got everything I prayed for. You dig what I'm saying? I can't ask the game for nothing more. I feel the same way. You feel the same way, kids?

18:10No. I got a little bit more. And I feel like as a kid, I want to get a little, you know what I mean? I feel like as a kid, someone praying for his shot, just like I was praying for my shot. Now I don't want to be in his way. You know what I mean? You know, I know why. I think we gave the kids a big chance. They ran the game and they didn't really hold it down like they were supposed to. Hip hop is really in a crisis when you look at it. You watch. Youth wise, because you got to understand, regardless of old people get old, so then the youth got to take over. And boy, we gave them a chance. It's messing up the elements.

18:49We gave them a chance, and they painted their nails, and they did all type of weird shit going on out there. But that was our way happening, though. That was our way happening. That shit wasn't that new. No, I'm not talking about specifically. No, no. I'm just saying. What I'm saying is that shit was, it's been happening. But it ain't have the stand power. Back in the day, on some pimp shit. I can listen to T.I. I can listen to T.I. right now and fucking enjoy myself. Matter of fact, I want to shout out to Lovey. I got a guy, if you ever met him, okay, you wouldn't believe he's your fan. And he go to anywhere and say, you got whatever you like.

19:29Motherfuckers is looking like they can't believe we know hip hop. I mean, this guy that's dumb. He played your shit. You can have whatever. He's singing to his wife. Anything you want to. Everywhere. And the motherfucker, the mother motherfucker, yeah, show this nigga, no. But that's the shit. But what I'm saying to you is we have, like, staying power. I'm losing. To create a career. Listen, bro, I've never turned down the youth. I've never turned down the youth. I've always supported them. And I'm going to keep supporting them. Bro, I love the youth. I always encourage them to win. I've never been a hater.

20:06You ain't got no young kids out there that can say Fat Joe hated on them. What I'm saying is I love that Clips came back on some grass. Hard, hard, hard. That shit was hard. Well deserved. That shit was incredible. He came back, put some shit out the park. Sounded like T.I. too, by the way. It didn't sound like trying to be nothing. It definitely was. It sounded like, you know, people got to understand. I think we understand it as artists, as creatives, that when you go right now and you buy a motherfucking The Beatles 96 album, it sound like The Beatles. We ain't got to sound like something else.

20:47People want to get that T.I. And I think the reason why that record, beside it being super hot, was I think the record went because it was like, yo, that's fucking T.I. Like, we know this guy. We heard this shit a million times. We love this shit. You know what I'm saying? So you got it. French right now, they on number one and number two. That's hard. That's hard. After Max come home, 18 years. You know what I mean? That's a blessing. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Max is on the space shuttle to fucking Mars, right? Like, he think he the king of Bel-Air right now. He don't know what he said. Yo, when I went to jail, I was the hottest nigga.

21:24I came out, I'm the hottest nigga. I don't know what's going on. Imagine I was here 18 years. I would have had 65 of these shits. He don't even know. He's in a time capsule right now. That's what's up. He's having the best time in his life. Hey, man, I've never seen him have a bad time. I've never seen Max B without a smile on his face. Let me tell you something. Two days before he went to jail, he was in a club like we doing the Marquise shit. I looked and he had a bunch of white girls with him and he had a fucking sailor like a cat. when he was way when he was the guy motherfucker had like he was flying a plane in there this I see yo this nigga he different with this shit but that's good that he's winning

27:07Get yours now at topgolf.com slash fun pass. Summer hits different at Topgolf. Pharrell did production on your first album. What made you go back to him for the let him know? I've been working with Pharrell throughout my entire career. Every time I'm starting an album, I call Pharrell. It's just whether or not he feel like doing music at the time. Most of the time you do. You know what I'm saying? Man, me and Ferrer probably got 100 records over the year that, you know what I'm saying, that we ain't using. And I always felt like as many records as we've done together, we never had a hit. Like one out the park.

27:48Nah, we never had a hit. We had some dope shit. Not like this, though. Like this motherfucker's here. You know what I mean? This the exclamation point. That shit, let them know. It's like a red slick. Yeah. Yeah, because you let them know. like this.

28:04You fucking let him know. That shit came on. I knew that shit was that shit. That shit was... Everything you said about the song is right, though. It sounds like T.I. That's exactly how I felt as soon as he played it. So that's the second record we did. So KP hit P for real for me. And he told me to meet him in Miami. He live in Paris. He said, man, I'm going to be in Miami this day. So these days. So pull up on me. give me an address. I pull up to the address. It's a dock. It's a dock. You went in that studio flowing that shit there? But it's a little boat. It was a little boat. So I get in the little boat.

28:41So he take me and then the boat take me to a big boat. So then I get on the big boat and then he got a studio set up in the big boat. You know what I mean? This nigga shit. People been doing that for years. For real. People been going to Bahamas right now. They say you want me. That nigga be out in the middle of the ocean. That's where the vibes come from. Blue fucking waters. That's where the vibes come from. That motherfucker, that nigga. So you recorded that in the water? So the first one we did with Mr. Hill. Give it up for this shit. That shit crazy. That shit votes out. You didn't make a fucking hit on a yacht.

29:16The first one we did with Mr. Hill, we did that. And I love Mr. Hill. You know what I mean? But I was like, all right, P. I need, come on now, give me that shit. Like, give me, come on, where the rest of it at? This is good. And he was like, man, all right, cool. Come back. So we did about three records that day. He was like, man, just come back tomorrow. And so the next day, you know, I thought I would do it. I'm like, I'm going to get my own boat today. You know, so I went and got me a boat, thinking I'm going to pull up on his boat. Every time I get to the coordinates, he send me, he gone. You know what I'm saying?

29:45So he sent that little bitty boat again. He sent that little bitty boat to my boat, put me on there. And I go and we take off and get to his boat. So as soon as I got back, damn, Pete, man, as soon as I get, he's just like, nah, listen to this. and it was the let him know beat. And I was like, oh, this how you feel? He took some of that fentanyl. Yo, whoa. Whoa. He gave you that pure, that Bobby Bruno, that fentanyl. You hear that shit stick? That shit one stepped on. It was instant, though. I knew it as soon as I heard it. And then, you know what I'm saying, he already had the woo. You know, he already had the shit.

30:25I said, man, yeah, this the one. Well, you know, there's a thing that artists, because I don't get high, I barely drink. I get high off of being successful and having a hit out there. Like, that's really it's a drug. It gets me high. You've been gone for a minute. When you come back and that shit take off, how you feel when everybody telling you, yo, Tip, this shit, did you know you was ever going to have another smoker like that? What it felt like to you? I had indication. I mean, I didn't know it was going to, you can never, you can never tell or determine how big, how high it's going to fly or how far it's going to go.

31:07But you feel, you know what I mean? You get that feel. You know what I mean? Sometimes there's records that I put out that didn't go as far as I thought it did. I knew that it was because of them. You know what I'm saying? I know this motherfucker, it rocks. You know what I mean? There's something wrong with y 'all. It's true, though. No, that's a fact. Yeah, but this shit here, I feel like all the stars and the moon aligned, and this shit really did feel like, you know, motherfuckers just dropped that pack off back in the day. Like, you just got, you know what I'm saying? And the trapping. No, no.

31:40Hey, whoa. Hey, man, I'm an organic, grand speed kind of guy. You know what I'm saying? no GMO you know what I'm saying I try to tell your man Style Speed came up I try to tell him man that cocaine farm the table you feel me farm the table yes sir yes sir like a motherfucker farm the table yeah man but uh I'm not mad at Pharrell man the world is his man you know he did that fucking pushing him I'm mad at him you ain't getting no Louis shit yet oh no I ain't got no Louis shit We ain't got no Louis shit. We ain't got no Louis shit. At all. Not a fucking, a fucking, a shoestring. But, the man, the clip, recorded their album in some Paris.

32:33Louis Vuitton. We ain't Louis Vuitton. They recorded their shit in Louis. That nigga crazy. They had to get some. They had to get them. They like didn't say, I'm leaving here with something. You know what I'm saying? No, no, he got it. He got sick one day. He came up in because, you know, we like to dress on this show. You know, we throw that shit on. That way I can have one. You know what I mean? He went to Louis, came back. He was like, he looked like Jerry Lewis back in the day. Yo. Oh, man. I said, yo. I said, what happened? He said, man, I spent all this money Louis Vuitton, and they told me we just missed the clicks.

33:07They walk out with the shit free. They go in Louis Vuitton. At least let them go in the back. I'm using backdoor kids Yo, the motherfuckers work out with the free shit He said, yo, we over here blowing them bags The motherfuckers told me Them niggas just left with a whole boatload of free clothes Hey, man We all have our perks All of us get perks You know what I'm saying? Each and every last one of us sit on their couch It's something that you can go get that none of us can go get the way you do And same for kids And you know what I'm saying? Nah, we all lucky I'm blessed as well

33:46You got any movies coming? Yeah, I got a couple of them, man. So two films, both of which I co-wrote, produced, directed, one of which is a sequel. So my first, my directorial debut was a record, I mean, excuse me, a movie called Departments. It came out a couple of years ago, DC Unfly. Carlos Le Duval and a host of others you know drop dead funny comedian man and it's sitting in this apartment complex and you can catch it on Tubi right now the third one so I did a sequel to it and it's going to be coming out real soon I think in like July or something like that it's coming out on All Black and the second movie I did is one that I directed also but I starred in this one as well it's called Thought She Was The One It's a romantic comedy.

34:43And right now, we're doing that shit independent and figuring out how we're going to distribute. Awesome. Owning that. That's going to be easy. The distribution right now is going to be easy for you because there's so many different outlets to put your shit out to. Tell him you hit me. You feel me? You're already with 2B. You're already with... You know what I'm saying? Motherfuckers got lanes now. It ain't like back in the day where you didn't have a lane. You got a lane. You know what I'm saying? People got lanes now. It ain't as hard as it used to be back in the day to get your shit. When you had to go back and forth from the fucking studios to the networks and so on.

35:26This whole shit was a gatekeeping thing where I always like to describe it like when you was a kid and you had the kid who actually owned the ball when you're playing basketball and it was like, me, me, I want the ball. Mine, mine, mine, mine, mine. He don't get picked and he'd be like, I got to take my, I got to go home. A whole bunch of foolish shit. Hey, get with it though. That's why I can't play basketball to this day. You hear me? I can't play ball to this day. I grew up, you know, I grew up in the hood. I was the younger kid, the little kid. I was about six when everybody else was maybe 12, you know, 13.

36:04So I used to always want to play and nobody took time. Well, I was bad as hell too. I probably wouldn't listen. but you know I had to watch everybody you know what I'm saying play ball like man I want to play I want to play they played ball in my face all day this one day I remember this all day they played ball in my face knowing I wanted to play so when everybody went after the street light came on everybody went in the house I got on my bike I rode up there and I stabbed with my granddaddy screwdriver I stabbed every ball up there every ball up there I flattened every ball up there oh you ain't gonna play with me okay and I was on some psycho shit.

36:39I'm like, I'm just waiting till they see this. You know what I mean? And the next day, I got up early. I rode my bike. I'm just riding my bike. Now, this day, I ain't sitting there waiting to play. I'm riding my bike. Every day, I'm waiting on y 'all to come out and get ready to play. And then they getting out there. They's like, oh, y 'all ain't playing today? It's like, Tip, you little badass. That's why I got the name Little Badass Tip. And to that day, I can't play ball. Yeah, I mean, you know, not everybody can play Boy, Kiss think he can play. You got a shot, right? I think they're going to let me in this year.

37:15What's your name? What's that man from the NBA? Jeff Sanchez. Jeff Sanchez. He's going to get you on the show. This might be the year they let me in. I got a knee surgery. It's too bad to let me in. Hey, man, it's a good year for y 'all. Y 'all having y 'all way up here. Let me tell you something. I'm wearing the right colors, right? Y 'all having y 'all way up here, man. Oh, yeah, he got the right colors. Hey, got the right colors. I take it this way. Orange and blue. That was just swag. When we flew back, I swear to God, I'm not exaggerating in no way. When we flew back from San Antonio, shit was like, overnight, the sky was orange and blue.

38:00Like, no. No, I swear to God. I swear to God. Just like that, motherfucker. Don't get me wrong. Don't get me wrong. Right around sunrise. Right around sunrise, this shit was still dark. A little piece of fucking, I'm flying in. Little piece was orange and blue. You got anybody? I got vowsers. I'm going to get a video for you, man. I know you had the video, bro. We did. I got it somewhere. All right, cool. When I took that shit was orange and blue. For real. Tell Rich to find that video when we was landing from San Antonio. I swear to God, it's orange and blue. And, man, look, I haven't slept in five days.

38:52Jesus is a Knicks fan.

38:56Let me tell you something. Let me tell you something. There's no other way to explain the comeback from 30. he definitely was with us oh okay he was with us in the game I don't know about the I said when they asked me after that game Joe what you think I said God loves the Knicks and God loves Wu-Tang Clan you did say that you did say that you did say that because you know how hard it was to be there on 30 and perform at halftime yo I felt so bad for the motherfuckers I was like yo that was the night Wu-Tang performed what yeah they said Knicks in 5 That's cool. I'm talking about... They helped it.

39:37They brought it back. Yo, they was halftime. That's hard. And I said... I stood out there. I said, God loves Wu-Tang. I'm going to be honest with you. You can say what the fuck you want, J. I said, God loves Wu-Tang because he never lets Wu-Tang down. I don't know. I was looking at that shit. I was like, God loves Wu-Tang, man. We good. he loves the Knicks Wu-Tang this and man that motherfucker came back and one by one point I was like yo that shit it was crazy yeah that was record breaking that was record breaking we had a lot of record breaking that never happened in history I went down to the ATL when we played I was scared of the ATL young boys could ball I went out there you know what I'm saying and they treated me nice they treated me nice I went to Philly I almost got a 10 fight motherfucker tackled me in front Yo, they hockey checked them in.

40:36We walking out to the sprints. Fucking white dude about seven. Hillbilly Jim Jack saw Bill Duggan. That motherfucker. Hock saw Jim Duggan. What was the rest of the nigga? Yeah, that's the Bruno Sammartino nigga. Hell no, bro. Bro, I'm taking a fucking picture with a fan. We won and the motherfucker damn near clothesline me. Rich started. Yo, I was like, yo, Rich, chills. Too many cameras. Rich start trying to yoke this. Rich was going to probably put him to sleep. And he was like, because he really violated. Philly was bad. Then I went to the ATL and it was high. Man, we got love. We got love for Joe and Jada in the A, bro.

41:21Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know what I mean? I got love. The problem is Philly's my number one market, but they had fucked you and fucked the Knicks. Get the fuck out of here. It's a violent town, Philly. Yeah, Philly, bro. It's a violent town. You going on tour? Yeah, man. I'm going on tour, bro. The succession tour. Hold up, guys. Hold up, guys. Give this a... Look at the camera. If this ain't orange and blue, show it the tip. It looks like it is orange and blue. It's navy blue. You know they got AI. No, I was... Oh, shit. They got a Nick symbol. They do have a Nick symbol. They got a logo on it.

42:03You got this from the garden, bro. Nah, it look like a screensaver. I ain't bullshit. No, I'm telling you the truth. I swear to God. That was that morning. Out the plane. We landed. I'll tell you one thing. I felt like I played the game. I never... Yo, I was so stressed out, T.I. I did the flight back. They was popping so much champagne, right? We come back and I couldn't even move. They're probably like, Fat Joe's the biggest party. Yo, I was so stressed. It finally was over. Because I'm flying everywhere, every game, more than even rap. Like I'm over there like acting like I'm playing for the fucking team.

42:45I was stressed the fuck out. By the time we came back, I said, man, I came home. I slept till like seven at night. I never did that in my life. I was drained. Real talk. Nah, that was real talk. I ain't never felt like that about those sports. I ain't never felt that. You know what I'm saying? Even for instance, because that's basketball, right? The one time that we actually had some shit happening, nah, that was goddamn 2000, I think it's 16, 17 when motherfuckers went to the Super Bowl in Houston and got them and blew it against the Patriots. so you know that was just one game though so you know what I'm saying we was up you know for that game we were playing in the parade at halftime and shit you know what I'm saying me Andre 3000 Jeezy JD we was all in the spot we were all like yeah so shit what you gonna wear to the parade you know what I'm saying like we were really and then them motherfuckers came the fuck back in the second half I got my shit and got the fuck out of there man man fuck this shit you know what happened to me and I brought my sons like you know what I'm saying I brought all my sons I said, man, let's get the fuck out of here.

43:55You know what happened to me? You know what happened to me in the ATL? The one year they had the All-Star game, I fucking left early, and then Jordan and Kobe started lightening it up. It was the Jordan comeback, and they was, I'm outside. They won't let me back in. I'm looking on the screen like, fuck, I was in there. Yo, how do I, they was like, sir, once you leave, you leave. You can't go back in. That shit was crazy. Somebody got your seat, too. I don't know. I'm sure they did. Somebody split right there. They probably came from way up there and got right. You know, I did that shit in San Antonio.

44:31I ain't had a pass to get on the court when we fired. For real. I took Tiana Taylor with me and she said, and I said, stay with me. I'm going to bum rush. I'm going to bum rush. She let go. At some point, she just, she couldn't, she ain't know what the mission was. The mission was, we ain't got fucking passes and we got to get convinced. you know my man with the sombrero that let us in that but the cop nigga is in the sombrero you gotta tell him yo papi yo he let me go she's still behind I had to come back and get her but that shit was crazy and that wasn't guaranteed the Knicks win the chip and you getting on that court with the motherfuckers it wasn't guaranteed but you just said Andre 3000 you know I never forget one time I took my daughter to Disneyland and nigga just brushed my shoulder.

45:22Now look, it was Andre 3000 with high waters on and boots and shit. And Disneyland by himself. You get me to thinking about he went to the Met Gala with a piano on his back. Like this guy, very different. He's my guy. Born on the same day as me. Yeah. Same birthday, man. For real? I love it. Big boy, motherfucker, too. Big Boy motherfucker too. I actually get to see and talk to Big Boy more than Three Stacks. I think I'm more like Big Boy. You know, he throw them furs on and that shit on. He been in the drip world for years. No, no. He been out of the day.

46:11Furs, jerseys, knee kick. You know who I fuck with, man? I spoke to you yesterday. CeeLo. I fuck with him all the time. Man, that's one brother I see a lot of. He kickin' a lot. Yeah, C-Long. He been on a lot of shows together, a lot of stuff like that. C-Long, big nigga, too. You know what I'm sayin'? Yeah. That's the, that, that's... Like, no one would've heard niggas to embrace me. Like, when I was, you know, like, fresh out the trap and just didn't nobody know who the fuck I was in the industry. No one would've heard people to embrace me, wrapped their arms around me and made me like, you know what I'm sayin', they little niggas.

46:43You know what I mean? That's fine. But you wanna know what I noticed? What's that? rest in peace Biz Markie Biz Markie was a super legend he was already the biggest guy in the world and he was kind of my projects and fuck with me and I never found a way to pay him back or just feel like this is when I'm trying to rap like right very beginning right and um one day I called him in LA and I grabbed him I said yo yo let me ask you some your biz now I'm fat Joe you know I said your biz why you fucked with me You know what I'm saying? I'm 18 years old. I'm selling drugs. I'm in the street. You coming to fuck with me this night?

47:22He said, I knew. He said, I knew you was going to be a star. They knew you was going to be a star. Same thing with me and French. I fucked with French before he blew up. And I took his shit to Hot 97 to get it played. And six months later, he was a superstar. Right on. You know when somebody got that shit. That's true. You know what I'm saying? So they was fucking with you. And they was like, oh, no, he coming. That's true. So either way. I don't know if they knew that about me. but you know what I'm saying? They knew that about you. I know that feeling. I knew that because I felt like that by 21, by Savage.

47:52I will fuck up with Savage. The first video, I remember the first video that he dropped. Like, I was like, man, who is that kid with this damn, this sword on his forehead? You know what I'm saying? And I think we ended up at the same studio with some shit and the first thing he said to me, come on, man, give me a mic. You got it? I was like, man, get the fuck out of here, bro. That the first thing, no cap, That's the first thing you said to me. Off, hello. You know what I mean? Hey, man, give me a million, man. You got it? I was like, nah, I can't do that. But I'm going to show you. I'll get some paper with you.

48:26I'll show you how to get some paper. And, you know, we start got... And when I get a show, I got Em, you know, tell him if he can dry down, he'll pull up, open up for me and shit like that. I always knew he had that shit. That's him. You know. You know when people got that it factor. You know when they got that charisma. You know when they got that shit, you just know. It's a feeling. It's more about thought. I mean, less about thought, more about a feeling. You know what I'm saying? You can feel the energy coming off of them. That's a fact. And shout out to him and Lotto. They got the baby right now.

49:01Right on. Congrats. You know what I'm saying? Congrats. We knew Lotto since she was a little one. Her and my son, Damani, they used to, you know, be moving around, doing like talent shows and shit together. True cases. Yeah, that's true. Yeah, when they were teenagers, like middle school type shit. Little kids. Yeah, yeah. You know, shout out to, she invited me to her baby shower. Okay. But I had to show that I owe her a present. I owe her a gift. You know what I'm saying? For the baby. But I've always liked Lotto, man, just as an artist and as a person. Right up. You know what I'm saying? Since I met her, I was like, man, this girl, she had it.

49:36She had that it. You do it ahead of time. Like, yo, she got it. You know what I'm saying? She got that it factor. So you going on tour, huh? Yeah, man. Your knees are still working in the north. What you mean? I ain't got no aches and pains. No, I got a problem. I got my shit. It's Euro stuff. Yo, my shit. You ain't got no... Oh, yeah, you got to Jenny Smith. He can't... I got to... Jenny Smith. Nah, I ain't... Nah, I ain't never... You know what? Just the last show, so the root picnic, I fucked around and got them, you know what I'm saying? Took off too fast. Took off too fast. I popped my calf muscle, man.

50:14That's the first time I ever felt that. Get ready. You're going to have a couple more tweaks. I kept going throughout the show, man. You know, it took me about three, four days to get it back right. Yo, I ain't going to lie to you. I had a show with y 'all in Atlantic City, and that's when I first started losing weight. I lost weight. I was trying to body that shit. That shit to this day, that shit popped up. That ain't your way. What'd it say, Joe? It's a recurring role. What'd it do? What'd it do? That shit I said.

56:22Absolutely. You know, then other times they're not going, we got to go get the bag. We were just talking about that before we started the show. Your song got me through this. So, here, man, take this, man. You know what I mean? This is for you. You know loyalty. Yeah. So, as far as Fat Joe, right? I've been very loyal. I've been loyal to you. I've been loyal to you. I've been loyal to a lot of people.

56:56lately has come back. So if you ever wondered what the loyalty did, because for years it never came back. But lately it's been like, so say like, I was a fan of the Knicks when niggas were dead ass sitting next to me with bags over their face. Like they were ashamed to be Knicks fans. In the audience, right? So now, being that I've, you know, I've been a loyal fan, the Knicks organization is like, yo, fuck with us we got a hip hop float for the parade, first of all we ain't never had a parade in 53 years and we got it and they said Fat Joe, you in charge of hip hop you invite, who you invite you the ambassador yes, this is from a nigga from the project

This shit is just fabulous. We got fucking Melly Mel and Mr. Ness. It's like a jungle sometimes. We not stopping. This shit going to be bad. That shit. Yeah. Right? But you know, the hardest part is when they give you that job, you don't realize that motherfuckers want to bring their family.

59:20We ain't got no room. But look, yeah, that's what I was just about to say. Does the float have a capacity? It does. And we're at capacity. The first motherfucker you said, you said you got Wu-Tang. And you know what I'm saying? Like, it's a lot of Wu-Tang. You know what happened with Wu-Tang? It's a lot of Wu-Tang, man. You know what I mean? Man, it's a lot of Wu-Tang. The motherfucking got the whole float.
