In short
DJ SpinKing (DJ/producer) discusses his comeback to releasing music after a six-year gap, his rise from throwing parties to touring, and how major artists helped shape his career. He says he started DJing at 17 by hosting parties in NJ hotel ballrooms, then built an audience via Ustream/YouTube while grounded after a teen car crash (he took his older brother Celeb’s car, flipped near train tracks, and credits music with saving his life).
Key claims
he “plays one beat” at a time and sent a beat to Baby/DaBaby; Baby finished a verse in two days, and the video drops next week. He says 50 Cent cleared a Young Buck sample.
Notable examples
touring with Diggy Simmons for 3–4 years; meeting the Simmons family through a promoter; DJing for Cardi B (front stage at Madison Square Garden) and doing Pop Smoke tribute moments; making “Timeless” with A Boogie (recorded quickly at home).
Guests
none explicitly named as interview guests; the conversation is primarily with host Rob Markman and SpinKing.

5:32Tony Yayo:Oh, my boys. D &R. Yeah. Yo, man. So how'd the single come about, man? You got another one because you always come out with hits, bro. I appreciate that. I ain't gonna lie to you. I haven't dropped in six years. Okay. Damn. I ain't even realized. Pandemic was the last time. Yeah, I haven't dropped. You know how I go. one thing one of my mentors Big Up DJ and I told me I love the music industry. I love the music. I hate the music industry. So that's where I'm at with it. But the space I'm in right now I just want to put out music. Every genre. Everything. And I was in the studio and then I was like you know what?
6:02I hit up my man Vinyls. I hit up Boy Wanda. He sent that. And I ain't gonna lie. You can ask anybody I've been in the studio with. I don't play packs. I play one beat. Sent it to the baby. he said give me two days he finished his verse in two days I went to the studio Wop's in the studio Wop just came home I go in the studio he said load it up in 10 minutes that verse was done
6:27Tony Yayo:shout out to Fetty Wop shout out to the baby I think that was Fetty yeah I think that was one of Fetty best verses of the year right there bro 10 minutes 10 minutes and knocked it out and everybody in the studio just when you hear that beat alone it's just like yeah the beat gets you from the beginning yeah the beat is crazy talk about That's a young buck sample. Talk about that, man. That's the buck sample. Yeah, that's crazy. That beat is just... I didn't even realize that that was a young buck sample. Yeah, 50 cleared that. Yeah, baby.
6:59Oh, yeah. Well, video we wrapping up next week. And then we're going to drop that.
7:03Tony Yayo:The video dropping next week. Yeah, we're going crazy right now. On TikTok, Pot 105.1. The family just added it. We had 200 spins last week. That's dope, man. That's dope. And it's organic. There's no machine behind it right now. So once that video drop, that's when we going full force on it. Rob Markman, man, you stay working, man. Shout out to your brother, Star, too. Shout out to Star, of course. Rob Markman, and you know Star was texting us, right? And he was like, yo, make sure y 'all on time and shit, because this is my bro right here. You know how it is, bro. You know how he is with his time and everything.
7:30Gotta be coordinated.
7:31Tony Yayo:One thing about Star is he love his brothers. He love his family. Shout out to your old family. That's my brother, yeah, bro. Rob Markman, moms, pops, the kids, everything. Everybody, bro. Tell us about the beginning, man, because you was 17 years old. you couldn't even really DJ in the clubs. No, I couldn't. So how did you get known? So I first started throwing my own parties in hotel ballrooms in Jersey. Okay. But we were only there for one time. Got kicked out of every one. Damn. Those videos on YouTube. All those videos on YouTube. Why didn't kick you out? Because we ain't leave it the way we went in.
8:01Copy. So rental equipment, you know, wasn't allowed in clubs. And then I met the Simmons family. Shout out to JoJo. Shout out to Rev. Shout out to Diggy. Shout out to the whole family. And then I was blessed. I was blessed to go on tour with him, with him, with Diggy. He started rapping. Oh, you was on tour with Diggy? Yeah, with Scream tour. We did like four or five of them. We was on the road. I ain't come home - Hey, what's the big record Diggy had? I ain't come home for like two years. Look at that. I remember calling, I was like, bro, I want to come home. So I'm - And you were 17? 17. 17 on tour?
8:29I was on, I went to University of Phoenix online. I tried. Meet and greets, sound check, you know how that goes. I tried. I tried school three times. I just couldn't get it. I went to Institute of Auto Research in New York. They give me the work for the week. I finish it in a day because I learned it. Just being in the studio, why am I paying for something I already know? I was coming home with flight club bags. They had just opened a flight club across the street. My mom was like, where's your books? I'm coming home with sneakers. She said, you don't want to do it? You got to pay for it. It's all my money I had saved.
9:00I paid it off, and then I just.
9:02Tony Yayo:How'd you meet Diggy? How'd you meet the Simmons family? Starred with a promoter back in the day, and he used to throw parties. He had met Jojo in the mall and he booked him for hosting from Run's House. You know, Run's House was that show back in the day. Rob Markman - And then Jojo and him connected. He started being with him, handling his stuff. And then that's how me... I couldn't really go out because I got into accident when I was 16. I was grounded. Rob Markman - What you mean? Rob Markman - So when I was 16 - Rob Markman - You said I was grounded. Rob Markman - That's what I'm saying. Rob Markman - You took my car or something?
9:33Tony Yayo:What do you call you to? Rob Markman - I took Celeb's car, my older brother's car. Rob Markman - Oh shit. Shout to Celeb, man. Yeah, and I went. There's some dumb stuff that I regret to this day, but that's why you don't see me. I don't drive. You see black outside. Shout out to my guy, Black. I don't drink and drive. I'm with security. I'm with the team, and that's it. But I made a mistake when I was young, and I feel like it blessed me where I am today. You feel what I'm saying? Like, my parents, you know, West Indian, Guyanese. They said, Patee Dunn. You're not going nowhere. Patee Dunn. You're not going nowhere.
10:00Tony Yayo:Oh, so you was grounded in how that was in the weekend. So I took Celeb's car. I picked up some kids that were my friends at the time. on train tracks. Train, we had to get out the back of the car. Train came and hit the car so our kids do not drink and drive. There's Ubers, there's lifts. Your life is not worth it. Trust me. I don't drink and drive. I just drink and they drive. Drink my Branson and they drive. But yeah, so it was a whole thing and I couldn't go nowhere. And my older brother Celeb was a DJ at the time. Star Wars the promoter. They had their own thing going on. So the equipment was in the basement.
10:33So I used to always just watch BET and be in love with hip hop music. So I started messing around with equipment. I started going live on Ustream at the time back in the day. Rob Markman Wow. And then people from my local town would watch. I'd be hyped. There was eight people in there watching me. Rob Markman Facts. You don't care though. Yeah. And then I just started doing YouTube videos and putting myself DJing like that. And then that's how I got into it. I have no choice. Music saved my life. It's not being cliche, but it's true. Rob Markman How long you was on tour with Diggy? Four years.
10:59Three, four years, bro. Rob Markman Damn, look at that. 17. Yeah, we was on the road for a minute. Shout out to Diggy. Shout out to the whole Simmons family. Rob Markman, yeah, people can't act like Diggy wasn't it. I used to write to Diggy Simmons. I used to be a rest in peace, good lady, man. He had me working on Diggy Simmons. Oh, yeah, word. I'ma do you something. Shot to Red Run, that spot guy. Shot to Red Run. Yeah, shot to Perry, the whole team. Red Run told him to stay off the wrap up. He told him, he loved it. He always say that. Red Run, don't you? Look, he ain't even know. Look, Queens, Mr.
11:21Queens over here, right? He ain't even know Red Run. We had a spot, you know what I'm saying? Red Run pulled up, like, oh shit, murder my guy. Yeah, he looking like, get the fuck out of here. This nigga don't Red Bruh too. Nah, cause Murda be knowing everybody. I ain't no front. So Red Bruh come and be like, yo Murda, what's up nigga? He like, yo, you crazy for them fucking rappers, nigga. I just try to make sure I always stay out from shit, nigga. So shout out to Red Bruh, that's my brother. That's one of my mentors. He helped me with a lot of like, he put me in that position with Diggy, even like on tour, like the DJ, the artist, like he, the Jam Master Jay, like he even said it in an interview.
11:54Shout out to Red Bruh, man, that whole family. They definitely took me like one of my own. I really appreciate it. Shout out to my guy P over there too, definitely. Rob Markman Yeah, Perry, my son Perry. Perry, yeah, that's my dog. Perry was with us on the road the whole time holding it down, Uncle P. Perry my guy. That's my guy.
12:07Tony Yayo:Rob Markman So how do you meet all these people? Because sometimes in the game, right, in the business industry, people say it's not what you know, it's who you know. And then later on, what you know is a work for you if you handle a business right. How do you like, because you got a hit record with A Boogie. Talk about that. Well, A Boogie is my brother. I remember when they was coming to a club in Dykeman called Playroom, and I'm like, Like, who are these dudes from the Bronx? They doing a hundred bottles. Like, who are these guys? And you know, like people come up now, they're like, yo, I'll give you money to play a record respectfully.
12:35I don't take the money, but I'll listen to it and I'll play it. And then somebody asked me, why you never take the money? I'm like, because now I feel like I'm in a lifetime contract with this dude. Every time I see him, like, you remember that time I gave you a play? No, I'm gonna play out of love. Sometimes they give security. I'm like, that's on y 'all. Now you got a lifetime contract with them niggas. You don't got to not come with me. I don't like taking money for records, but these guys, they doing their thing. Like, I'm like, he got a buzz going on. I'll never forget Boogie shot my shit right there downstairs across from Cliff.
13:03And he's blowing up. And it's like, this kid is nice. And I see like, it's not just, you know, people come out the hood. I'm like, these kids are going crazy for him. Fast forward today, that's my brother. We was on the farm earlier. I was at Home Depot talking about power washers. And that's where we at now. We talk about our crib all the time. Yeah, but like Boogie, Bubba, you know what I'm saying? Free Double M, like the whole, That's just a whole hybrid, bro. Noon, Nooski, everybody, bro. QPM, everybody. It's just a team. You know what I'm saying? It's just everybody, it's different. When we together, it's like how y 'all together.
13:35It don't feel like work. We just hanging out, we just chilling. We mic, come up with a record in 20 minutes and then go back to, what we was doing the other day? Midnight till three in the morning playing pickleball. Right. Me, Bubba, and A. You know what I'm saying? Real rich nigga shit. Not basketball, pickleball. My man Bubba runs it out the gym. But I'm just saying, it's just cool shit. Big niggas is family, bro. We get money together along the way. So Boogie's my dog, that whole team. Like just been like that. And we working on another one right now. So we got something soon coming for y 'all.

Because that was his idol and that was the last time I seen him. That was in Miami and he was doing, we were doing at iHeart and he was like, Fifth, you want to meet you? Shout out to B-Boy. Right. And he was like, he said bring him. He's like, his last name Jackson? I'm like yeah, he's like, all right, bring him. Last name Jackson. And we brought him and it was just dope and there's a video on my page. Even when I watch, sometimes I get emotional watching it because it's me telling him, like, yo, you're going to be a star.
21:06Like, you got it. Pop was mad young. Damn, man. Hell yeah, man. And then the Powerhouse, you know, I brought out Baby, 4-1, Boogie, Fetty. Powerhouse every year is always a movie, man. So I'm thankful for that opportunity with Power. Like, people, I don't care what people say. People say radio don't matter. It matters. No matter where you go. Radio matters. Because you got a person, you got gentlemen, real men, like Envy and pro style. They play your record once. How many spins is this? Rob Markman - That's about 40, 50 spins across the country. Rob Markman - Yeah, Radio Matters. Shout to the Breakfast Club, shout to Andy, shout to everybody, shout to Clue, shout to Self, shout to everybody, man.
21:44Rob Markman - Talking about syndicated shows, my brother.
21:46Tony Yayo:Rob Markman - You know what I wanted to ask you? And this is a big question, right? Do you feel like social media presence and popularity also counts as much as talent? Because a lot of people, a lot of DJs can be talented, but their name will never really get out there, like other guys' names. Rob Markman So you talking about the TikTok DJs? Rob Markman I mean, would we say that? Rob Markman Yes. Rob Markman No, it's because there's people that you would say is push button DJs. They don't know what they're doing. They just presently doing it for content. And everybody get their money, how you feed your family is how you feed your family.
22:21Rob Markman Okay. Rob Markman But then you got people that are the go to this, that set the tone, like Kid Capri. And you got people like, I still to this day see him getting big fat fingers. like they be in Japan going crazy. Like there's people I respect. I watch Cast One, Big Ben, like it's just the art, right? And obviously it changes because I came up in a time. I wasn't carrying crates. It was turntables, but the vinyl was one vinyl, but then it became CDJs. So I came up like in between both eras, you know, I was born in the 90s, raised in 2000s. But social media matters because it matters on how you look, how you dress, what you wear, how you talk, the cars, all that stuff.
22:56It does matter. And I learned that from like Envy and Pro. and them niggas had cars for days, jewelry for days. Growing up, DJs, no disrespect, but DJs was big. They really wasn't on fly shit. So I wanted to bridge the culture with the music and that and put it all together. But it depends now, because you got a lot of girl DJs. There's some girl DJs that are dope as hell. And then they going overseas and they getting their money, not even getting it here. So it depends on what market you looking at. But that house market, y 'all seen when we was in Pasha's ass? That shit, no joke.
23:24Tony Yayo:Rob Markman, Talk about that, Pasha, Cardi B, man. How do you do it? Shout out to Cardi B. Shout out to Cardi B. How do you get on stage with Cardi B? You was on tour with Cardi B, man. Yeah, you was on tour with her. Yeah, talk about how do you get them calls, yo. I need Spin King. You want to know when Cardi called me? We was in my crib and we was watching Super Bowl. And B-Boy was there, Star was there, Biff was there. And she had just came off stage with Bad Bunny. Right. And she on the phone. She's like, yo, Spin. I'm like, what's up, sis? She's like, yo, I need you on this tour, bro. I'm like, all right, bet.
23:55Rob Markman, you thought that was industry talk at the time? Rob Markman, Cardi, there's two people that will never, four people that will never be industry talk. Cardi, Fifth, Flo Rada, and Rocky, and Boogie, five. Rob Markman, And shout to all of y 'all, no industry talk. Rob Markman, No industry talk. That's straight like, so the next day, Star calls me like, yo, Boston, Connecticut, Miami, Philly, MPA, you on that? So whatever, Yeah, we in there. You know why I respect Cardi from other artists with DJs? Shout out to Cardi B. Shout out to Lust, you heard? Shout out to Lust. Good old days in Brooklyn, man.
24:32Is that she's real genuine in a sense of she means it from her heart. She don't gotta... She changed my life the same way Fifth did in so many ways of things like I would never think I'm DJing the Met Gala after party. I'm in a booth and Billie Eilish is there chilling with me, drinking with me, telling jokes. like she makes that happen you know i'm saying she don't forget where she came from that makes sense and how much she does behind the door she puts on for her people her team is still where her from i remember back in the day it's a blessing to see that you know shout out to her whole team and i'm glad you put on for me a couple times repping me on instagram shout me out she's a real one she's definitely a real one then shout out to her sister too hendesse yeah hendesse hendesse's family yeah and this is what i talk about and i'm glad you brought up 50 because
25:16Tony Yayo:it's like niggas get at us for showing people love that show you love. When I say 50 did a lot for me, he not only did a lot for me and murder, but we can name other shit. I thought of so much shit, because Memph Bleak was talking, like right now, I'm trying to still figure out who's more relevant, Rick Ross with his record sales or Memphis Bleak on his rants. I'm trying to still figure out who's more relevant, right? But when you look at 5th, right? I thought about, that shit made me, beefing with these niggas made me think about shit he did for other people. K Slay, Straight Stunt Magazine, rest in peace, was about to be finished.
25:54Tony Yayo:50 came out of his pocket like 20 grand to help K Slay to keep going with that shit. EF Rivera, a nigga that was shooting videos. 50 call him, yo, shoot 12 videos. And then from there, everybody in the industry wanted to fuck with EF. The list goes on and on. Now he's doing movies. Now he's doing movies. Kid Kid Banks. Al Pacino. Fuck. You know what I'm saying? Ethan's doing Al Pacino. This is what I'm saying. So I just think about all the people when you say Fit also helped you and Cardi helped you. That shit count. That shit mean a lot to me. People don't even know even with the record. I'll never forget.
26:30I finished it. Y 'all go to him. Ask for advice. I'll ask y 'all for advice. Everybody that's around is people I generally fuck with and care about their opinion before it comes out. I'll never forget. We was chilling at the headquarters. And I played it for him. He said, all right, give me a second. Fifth A &R'd that record. When you hear the girl saying, you can't handle all that, that's fake. So he A &R'd the new record. Yeah, the new record with DaBaby and Fetty. He said it's Mitch or something. That's the fifth on there, look at that. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. What he do behind the scenes, people don't really be like knowing it, but it comes from a good heart and a good person.
27:00You know what I'm saying? And I didn't think about it. And when I went and added that part, it made the record complete. Now when you listen to Beko and you hear that girl saying, you can't handle all that? It's her answering the baby. He said, you want to have something for the girls? He ain't on the record, damn near. Look at that. Yeah. 50 doing money for me, for Star, for my family. Don't worry.
27:17Tony Yayo:We know you're going to sell more than Rick Ross. Let's get to it. Tory Lanez, made you think I was gone, earned 19 ,700 units the first week. Out selling Rick Ross that did 17 ,200 units. Ross, you need some help. You need the Drake stimulus package. That wasn't there for you. Beefing with 50, that wasn't good for you. It's just nothing been good for you, man. You know, just find a new career, man. Do something. Like Fifth said, the bum juice and the record sales ain't working for you in the wings, man. And I like American Deli wings, by the way, motherfucker. So just remember that. American Deli wings?
27:57Tony Yayo:Yeah, I like American Deli wings. I don't do Wingstop. And as for Memphis Bleak, that comeback on Twitter, that shit was whack. like, murder went fucking Ultimate Warrior on you, Hulk Hogan on you, know what I'm saying? For the Memphis Bleak too, man, cause you know I see a lot of comments and I'm called, right, about the whole Memphis Bleak thing, man, it's like people feel like, first of all, I'm not taking up for Yayo. Y 'all know, Yayo can talk for him. Fuck you then. Y 'all know, Y 'all know, Y 'all know, Y 'all know, Y 'all know, Y 'all know, Y 'all know, Y 'all know, Y 'all know, Y 'all know, Y 'all know, Y 'all know, Y 'all know one thing about my brother, Y 'all know, he don't need nobody to talk for him, right?
28:38At all. Yeah, yo, love to talk and he talk his shit whenever he wants to, right? So, people like, yo, that's people, I sent those in the comments, like, yo, you taking up this? No, no, no, no. When you say things in these interviews, like when Bleak was on the Breakfast Club, he's saying things like, if 50 stopped rocking with these dudes for a year, they'd be in the shelter. When you saying niggas, niggas, if 50 stop fucking with these niggas, they'd be in the shelter. Who's niggas? Niggas is yayo and murder in 2026 right now. So when you saying shit like that, niggas, you taking a shot at me.
29:21And I'm definitely going to shoot back if a nigga take a shot at me. So hold on. If he just was talking about me, you wasn't going to -
29:25Tony Yayo:You my brother, nigga. Shut up. You know how the fuck we rock, nigga. Fucking Brooklyn, niggas. Shut up, nigga. You know how the fuck we rock, nigga. But real shit though. Yeah, you see people talking, and I'm in the car with you, and you hear the call, and I'm like, what the fuck was I talking about? Murda, Murda, Murda, you know what it was? I've been with the unit for 10 years. Like, what the fuck is I talking about? Now, Murda, think about this, right? When you look at everybody Fifth Health, like I just named K. Slade and just named E. Favira, we could name Casanova. That was signed to him, too.
29:53Tony Yayo:Shout out to my brother, Casanova, man. Free Casanova, man. Free Casanova used to tell us, yo, y 'all niggas treat me good over here. Definitely. He was getting in clubs. He didn't have to, you had to sneak in a Jay-Z brunch. He would take, come on, you know, free Casanova, but it's the truth. That was your artist and 50 was looking out for him. And it ain't glazing. It's just the truth is the truth. Just like how you said Cardi B was looking out for you, but fuck these fuck niggas. Rob Markman Yeah, Cardi always looking out. Rob Markman What y 'all niggas think about LeBron James going to Philly, man?
30:23Tony Yayo:Come on, get out. Rob Markman LeBron James, that's going to be fine. Rob Markman Fuck Gillian Wilder on that one. Rob Markman Oh man, I'm not mad. Rob Markman They my boys. I'm a LeBron fan, man. So I'm rocking with Gilleen Wilder on that one, man. You know it's New York, it's the Knicks first. But I'm not mad at - What you think, Spin King? I'm not mad at LeBron going to Philly. I'm still trying to process Murda's rocking with Philly on this LeBron thing. I'm not mad because I rock with LeBron, so - So now I get it. So it's the Knicks first, you saying? Of course, it's always going to be New York first.
30:50And then Philly's your second team? I'm a LeBron fan, man. So wherever LeBron go - I'm a New York fan. I'm a New York fan. If you was on my Instagram, you seen that picture when I was a kid and I was sad in my passport picture, I've been a Knicks fan my whole life. Shout out to my pop, shout out to my mom. They do not play about the Knicks.
31:03Tony Yayo:Oh yeah, your dad is a diehard Knicks fan. And so did my mom. Shout out to your pops. I went to every playoff game this year. Knicks in five. I don't care what nobody talking about. You know what's another thing I did? What's that, man? A full circle moment for my pops and my mom. Being a Knicks fan, I DJ'd the Knicks Championship private party with the Knicks players. It was just me and 40 people in there. Damn. Rob Markman, it was me, Brunson, Cat, Clarkson, Deuce, shout out to my man Marquise. You know that's the fan, my boy Marquise. Yeah, that was a full circle moment for me. Rob Markman, Shout out to the champs.
31:33Rob Markman, I'm not gonna lie, I haven't been home since the Knicks one. It's Knicks to five. Rob Markman, Shout out to the Knicks, man. Rob Markman, Yeah, shout out to the Knicks. They got the city on fire, bro. Rob Markman, They definitely do, man. Rob Markman, We turned up in New York right now, man. Rob Markman, Let me ask you a question.
31:43Tony Yayo:When you were in the studio and you did a record like Timeless with A Boogie, are you in the studio with him or he just sends you the record or you prefer to be in the studio? I want to be in the studio because like I said, I like to play one beat, right? So we were in the crib and it was me, him, Starr and Bubba. We were playing 2K. I'm like, yo, I got this beat. I played it. We went to the studio tonight. He recorded it like that. Done deal. We put out a snippet of it on SoundCloud and it just went. And we're like, oh, this is going to be it. And then it is what it is today. Thank God. That's a blessing.
32:12Our record is literally timeless, bro. Shout out to C.P. Doug. Shout out to Jagan. Rob Markman, that record is. Rob Markman, it is. Yeah, that record. Definitely is, man. Yeah, definitely one of them ones. But that Cardi, Boogie, Fifth, that Cardi, that Pasha, but we was in Ibiza. Y 'all seen how that is. Full circle moment. A month later, I did Pasha in New York. That was crazy.
32:30Tony Yayo:How do you know what to play? Because Pasha's not playing hip hop. What are they playing? They playing EDM or? Yes, this is the first set I've ever done an hour and a half, no microphone. Straight. No, it's straight. House Afro beats, that's it. I had no microphone. It's just my laptop. And I ain't gonna lie to you, the equipment wasn't working. So if you were DJing and you watching this, I did my whole Pasha set internal. No CDJs. What do you mean internal? Explain that to me. I'm DJing on my laptop. The CDJs didn't have the CDs and the time. And the music was off for like three minutes. And I didn't want nothing to come back to Cardi.
33:05Like, I'm not ready. I'm not prepared when the music wasn't. It wasn't a mouthful. It happens. But being in the situations I've been in, I was able to. But the hardest thing to DJ internal is house music. And that was my first time doing that set. Why do you say that's the hardest thing to DJ? Because that music you have to blend. Like hip hop, I could talk, drop out, go in. You can't do that with house music. Especially I had no mic. I mean, yeah, absolutely. I mean, that's just his ears and... Oh, and I had no headphones. Oh, you had no headphones? Well, watch the videos. I just sent you. That's crazy.
33:33I had no headphones. And the video's going to be up there too. I ain't going to lie, bro. When you go to, you go to. Yeah. I'm going to be honest. I love what I do. I love music. I'm not cocky shit, but I've never used headphones. I don't own a pair of headphones. You know what's the latest thing I bought? Cause the Cardi tour was inner ears. That's the only headphones I got. I don't have headphones. In the club, none of that. You don't have headphones? None of that, I don't use headphones. That's crazy.
33:53Tony Yayo:He turned his punishment, being on punishment, crashing his bruv celeb car into a brand and a million dollar brand at that, man. And Cardi had me front state Madison Square Garden both nights sold out. Like that was a, and that's why I said - How that felt, man. Rob Markman, Because she didn't have the... When you see people concerts, not what we do with the artists, other artists, where's the DJ booth? On stage at concerts. Rob Markman, Yeah. Rob Markman, She had me front and center stage. And I did that whole Pop Smoke tribute. When you see it go around, I premiered the record there. Yeah, bro.
34:24Shout out to Cardi. Shout out to her whole team. Rob Markman, That's right. Rob Markman, It's a beautiful blessing, man. It's been a hell of a year. I ain't gonna lie. That's what made me want to get back in music. I'm doing all this with Fifth, Cardi, Boogie, Scylla, Rocky. I'm like, yeah, I got to get back in music. definitely running around being a Branson boy and all that. Yeah, of course. Shout out to the whole Branson DJ, the Branson crew. You know that. Shout out to Star, shout out to Steve. Definitely, man.
34:46Tony Yayo:Are we going to get A$AP Rocky on the album? Because I know y 'all like family. I ain't going to lie, I'm not doing an album. I'm just hitting in the head, pause, straight direct shots at singles, singles, singles, singles. I'm not talking about nobody, but as y 'all see, album sales ain't really selling right now. No, you can talk about it. It's not my, I'm not talking about that. No, I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about album sales right now isn't what they used to be, So I just want to put out singles. That's where I'm at. All that hating on Drake and his shit, fly. Yeah. Crazy. Shout to Boy 1, then shout to Vinyl, shout to the whole OVO team.
35:14Tony Yayo:Oh. Yo. Yeah. I like that. We back in the lab with it. So how do you manage? Because every time I look on your page, bro, it's like three parties a night. How do you manage that? Like, how do you manage the time slots? Day party? So I'm not going to lie. Like, when it was like, you know when it was heavy, heavy? Right before pandemic. I did 71 parties in a month that year. What the fuck? 71. 71 parties in the month. That's crazy. Who was the guy, the baseball player, I forgot his name. Was it the LA Dodgers? He had like a high number. I remember I put myself in his jersey on the calendar and that's how many parties I had.
35:51Yeah, but you know the market and the flyers, all that stuff. That's me and Star. There's no PR team. My role manager Noel, but other than that, it's just -
36:00Tony Yayo:And Star's his brother, y 'all. It's a family business. He loves his brother. Yeah, that's my dog. Rob Markman Yeah, but how do you, so give me an average night. Rob Markman Okay, so Saturday night, the Pasha night. Rob Markman Okay. Pasha was 12 to one. I had to do vibes in Queens, 1.30 to 2.30, and I had Icon and Dykeman 3 to 4. And while I'm out, I'm on the radio at the same time. Rob Markman Crazy. Rob Markman That's why there's Young Graveyard, there's Spin King, there's the GOAT, and there's S Spin King. We all gotta be somewhere at one point. Rob Markman Oh, so you could pre-record on radio and do Rob Markman, pre-recorded.
36:32Tony Yayo:Rob Markman, pre-recorded. That's DJ Spin King. I gotta find a house name for Pasha. But he was at Pasha, and then Young Graveyard was at Vibes, and then at Spin King was in Dykeman. It's four of me. And we all spread out. That's how I do it every night. Rob Markman, Yeah, cause you gotta know what to play. Say you in front of an old Spanish crowd, I wouldn't know. Rob Markman, But that night was that. I wish I had streamed that night. Cause it was an hour straight house, hour and a half. It was an hour straight hip hop and vibes, and then Uptown was an hour straight Spanish. That's three different cultures, three different crowds.
37:05And I'm blessed to say I could do that. And I got the West Indian community too. Shout out to my West Indian.
37:08Tony Yayo:But how do you know, I know when you in that, but how do you know, how do you find the best Spanish record or the best house record? How do you find it? How do you know? My son is Dominican, half Dominican. And then all my best friends are all Spanish damn near. So I've been in the culture. Like that Dykeman, they took me in as like one of their own. Like people think I'm Spanish. So I'm cool with the artists, some of the Spanish artists. Rob Markman Yeah, you be on Dykeman so much, I thought you was Dominican. Rob Markman Nah, I just, it's the culture, bro. Like it's just, they really got it.
37:38That culture, that dem bow right now is just in pocket, even the Afro beats. That's why I want to tap into everything. I want to put stuff together. You know what I'm saying? Like put a regular artist with a Spanish artist and mix the cultures. Like when I first started, I started out with hip house. I was trying to put hip hop niggas on house music. And what are you here today? And that was 13 years ago, 14 years ago. Rob Markman Doing that Pacha set, does that make you want to do more house sets? Rob Markman I've been wanting to do that. Like, that's what me and my man, that's what me, Vinyl is the star, me and listen to it.
38:05It's all house music. I'm in a crib playing house music. Like, you know what it is? There's no beef in that world. Rob Markman Why? Rob Markman There's no competition. Look at Diplo. Look at Deadmau5. Look at my man, A-Track. All of them, they - Rob Markman Shout out to A-Track. He was on the show. Rob Markman They don't even - Rob Markman But the biggest DJ is on this show. Rob Markman Yeah, my boy, A-Track. Shout out to A-Track. A-Track said he's doing a remix to Beko, a house remix. That's what's up, man. Shout out to A-Track. Shout out to A-Track. We need Kid Cudi on the show, man. So, like overseas, it's enough for everybody to eat.
38:37And they dance, they party. That's what made me enjoy Pascha. Bro, there's no VIPs besides behind, but the whole floor you see of all them people, they just did a party and dance. They at the bar, they having a good time. When we did Pascha overseas, what was that? It was Ibiza. Rob Markman, Ibiza. Yeah, Ibiza was a vibe, man. Rob Markman, I don't know why I kept thinking it was Italy. It was Ibiza. Rob Markman, Italy was when Michael Jackson. The airport. I never seen Murda push so many people in an airport in my life. That shit was crazy, man. Rob Markman, Yeah, that was pandemonium. That was a good time though.
39:09Rob Markman, It was.
39:09Tony Yayo:Rob Markman, So when is this video dropping with you and the baby? Is the baby directing this one? Rob Markman, The baby directing the video. Rob Markman, Oh man. Rob Markman, The baby's definitely directing the video. Rob Markman, You know he gonna have baby elephants in there, girls with fatties, all kinds of crazy shit. Shout out to my boy Ty, yeah. Baby definitely directed the video. It's 70 % done. We gotta shoot two more scenes. And then we gonna drop that and go crazy. Rob Markman Okay, look at that. Rob Markman And then we gonna keep dropping more music. I got studio tonight, Skillet Baby.
39:35Me and Rocky got studio this week. Me and Flo Rida working on something.
39:38Tony Yayo:Rob Markman Yeah, you stay consistent. What would you tell the young DJs out there that's trying to get on? Because I see, you know, you doing radio, then you three clubs at night, then you go home to the family, and then you got your kids, and you know, then you wake up and then you do it again and you might do a brunch and then you're on radio. It's like, what would you tell the kids? You gotta want it. You gotta be consistent. If you don't want it, don't come involved in this. Because this right now, and y 'all can tell me, y 'all craft is similar to my craft. It takes way more work now than it did back then to stay consistent.
40:09There's so many outlets. There's so many ways to do it. But if everybody's doing it, you gotta do something different to stand out from what everybody else is doing. Like when you walk in a club and no shade to no DJs and you see them and you see me, you know who you looking at, you know who you not looking at. And that's the honest truth, because I put a lot of money into these outfits, and these cards, and these jewelry.
40:27Tony Yayo:You can send to these outfits, that's my man. That's right, let them know. No, it's the truth. Tripp played a big part for the DJ. He said envy and you know. Not envy, you gotta promote yourself, you gotta invest in yourself. I told y 'all before the show started, half of what I got paid for that event went to my production for my video and my intro. I invested in myself. I don't look at the money then, look at the money's gonna bring me by everybody seeing what they saw then. because that was the moment. That was the look. So you got to invest in yourself. I'll tell you one thing. When I shot Adult Swim with Tiger, A$AP Ferg, and Jeremiah, the label said they got$5 ,000 for me.
40:59I cleared A$AP Ferg, Jeremiah, and Tiger for free. The video director, Tiger, can confirm. He said, yo, I want my man to shoot it. He said, we do it without permits. It's 15. We do it with permits. It's 30. I said, we going to do this, right? We going to do 30. I told Star. Star had an envelope when I was younger. He used to write every week what I put in and I saved all I had was 30 I went to LA with that 30 I came back with 100 dollars in my pocket that's all I had 30k all I had saved I put it all towards the video damn and that video got 150 million views that record went crazy overseas for me shot the velas shot the vinyls yeah of course it paid off so what I'm saying what I can tell anybody coming up you still invest in yourself you got to and that's all you gotta keep look at everybody you gotta be consistent these kids are streaming 24-7.
41:49Definitely, man. Definitely. I ain't gonna lie, I can't do that right now. You know, I'm the same here. Yeah, but that's how you have to stay consistent and stand out for everybody else. I'm gonna be doing the same thing. And that's just it.
41:59Tony Yayo:Definitely, I mean, what do you feel about New York nightlife? Like, cause I know you DJing Queens, you DJing Dykeman. What's the difference like in the crowds besides just, you know, nationalities, you know what I mean? I mean, it depends. Cause like there's a party right now, shout out to GQ, it's in Queens, it's called KISS. Shout out to my Guyanese, they own it. But that is 2 ,000 West Indians there every Saturday and they partying. But then like yesterday, it was the Dominican Day, Sunday was the Dominican Day Parade. You couldn't drive on the block. They had the flags out, they was wild.
42:33Big ass speakers you'd be seeing in DR, they had all them shit. Rob Markman - Bro, it was crazy. I'm kidding. Rob Markman - But that's what I love about my job is I never get tired because I'm involved in so many genres. I feel like if I was stuck to one place, I would get tired. Because I'm tired in and blessed to be where I'm at, I don't get tired. I'm more motivated now than ever. That's why I'm back to making music. Fifth, allowing me to come overseas, being on the jet, being with y 'all, seeing these people. They don't know English, but they know every single word to many men. It's insane to me.
43:02Facts. You ain't lying about fashion. That shit's not me. So it's like, yo, bro, music could really change your life. And it did for me. It saved my life. I didn't have a choice. But to anybody watching this that wants to get involved in music, DJing, producing, even Even if you don't like the camera, pen game, produce, be out there. Rob Markman - Facts.
43:19Tony Yayo:Yeah, because you got into an accident where you could have died and that shit changed your life. Changed my life. And why I am today, yeah. I turned to music. I had no choice. I didn't know what was going to be this. But hey, we blessed to be here. Rob Markman - Now you know, you know, I always murder say I ask this all the time. I ask this all the time. Rob Markman - He gonna try to say this on one of the episodes. I know that. He gonna try to say this. I think we should stop doing it. Like he don't always do it. But go ahead. I know what you're about to do. Go ahead. Tell me what I'm going to do.
43:46Why are you yelling at me like I'm Memphis Bleak right now, nigga? Oh my God. Here this guy go. You better chill out. Here this guy go. You better chill out. But you about to ask? I know exactly what you about to ask.
43:56Tony Yayo:Because Murda, I do my homework. I don't want to talk about... We saved that for another part. Okay. All right. All right. Yeah. But Memphis Bleak, you better chill. Oh shit. You better chill. I'm telling you. So I'm going to ask you, man. Who is your top five DJs? I got to ask him. DJ Spin King. I know he's gonna say Camelo. I always throw somebody out there, right? You ain't gonna do that. He always got his, so he wanna throw a name. Like that gotta be in there. He gonna throw Camelo in there. Which one do you wanna do? Do you wanna do DJs now or all time? I mean - Nah, I'm not doing DJs now.
44:28Just give me - He gotta be all time. He definitely ain't doing that, just all time DJs. Yeah, DJs now. He gotta be all time. He might be beefing with a nigga in - Nah, it's not even that. I might put myself like Dylon, Spin King, Spin King, Spin King. No, I'm not doing that. But listen, it's not in order. Got you. Before you try to flip this and yeah, all that.
44:44Tony Yayo:No, no order. Camillo. I know, told you. Camillo, Camillo, Camillo, Camillo. Envy. This is tough, bro. Five is tough. So give me 10. Fuck it. All right. Give me 10 DJs. We gonna stop doing the top 10. We gonna top 10. We doing some new shit. Top 10 on here, man. Top 10 because if I - Top 10. You know what it is? There's so many great DJs - That's what I'm saying. That if I put five - It's not enough. I gotta go see somebody else after them like, yo, I ain't - I ain't mean to do you like it's five. So no order. Rob Markman - That's good. Rob Markman - Top 10. Rob Markman - Camillo, Envy, Self, Pro Style.
45:19Rob Markman - Self. Rob Markman - Cast One. Rob Markman - Mr. C. Rob Markman - Mr. C, rest in peace. Rob Markman - Kid Capri. Rob Markman - Kid Capri, legend. Rob Markman - Oh man, this is gonna get a little tricky now. There's so many DJs. It could be any genre. Rob Markman - Yeah, any genre. Rob Markman - Oh, Diplo. Diplo got to go up there, has to, just because he's one of the reasons that I want to bridge like go into that world. Damn, who? Oh, Enough?
45:49Tony Yayo:DJ Enough, Heavy Headers. How many is that? That's nine? That's nine. Because I'm going to give you my 10. Murdy, you better have your 10 with me. All right. Jam Master J. I like that. You like that? You like that part? I like that. Can I give you my 10 now? I want your 10 at the end. I want Murdy to go. Rob Markman, I know DJ guy. Listen, I got, look, I got, I'm going to put Flex on there. I'm going to put DJ K Slay on there. I'm going to put Mr. C, Red Alert, Gym Master J, Terminator X. I don't care what nobody say. Rob Markman, Why you have to say that? Rob Markman, Nah, because some people might not know Public Enemy, Terminator X.
46:34Tony Yayo:because I'm talking about the DJs that, he's a little younger than us, so I'm like, yo. Speaking of tournament action. Nah, from Public Enemy, where was that? Six, right? Yeah. I got to put Camelo on there.
46:51Tony Yayo:My man, DJ Rough Hands. We not getting no more Yee Ruckers, please. Grandmaster Vic. Grandmaster Vic, and I ain't gonna lie, he changed the game, I got to put DJ Klu on there. Oh, damn, fuck. See what I mean bro? Rob Markman, Cause Klu changing from blending to tape. So I got to put DJ Klu on there. Rob Markman, Yo three I forgot. And then my guys bro. Funkmaster Flex, Cypher Sounds and DJ Klu. I forgot Klu. You see, that's why I don't like this 10 shit. But yeah, shout to those three. Those are goats right there. Rob Markman, That's why I'm not naming no 10 DJs. There's too many DJs out there.
47:20I love all of DJs. Rob Markman, Oh he's political now. Rob Markman, The rap up. Rob Markman, The rap up. Rob Markman, He just was going crazy. Bitcoin for Bitcoin.
47:27Tony Yayo:Bitcoin for Bitcoin. Money's in the safe. And now you political correct? Yo, ain't nothing in the safe. Fuck out of here, man. Ain't nothing in the safe. The wrap up. Whoa. Ain't nothing in the safe. What else going on in the news? Who had a fight? Anthony Joshua. Did you see that fight? Come on, bro. Who's the guy he's fighting? Look it up, man. He won, man. No, he won, but he came back. Yeah, he had to come back. It was like a fucking Rocky fight, man. He got knocked out in what? The second round, third round? Yeah, Christian Pringa. That was a gentleman. It was a second round knockout. Second round knockout?
47:59Tony Yayo:Yeah. Josh will knock him out. My guy Anthony Joshua, man. He used to be working out to my music and all that shit. That was in Saudi Arabia too. Crazy. Earl Spence had a fight too. He lost, man. Shout out to him though, man. I think he said he ain't fighting no more if I'm correct. He definitely said he's retiring. I think he said he's retiring, man. I mean, he made enough money, man. Yeah. Did we really get into LBJ going to Philly? Oh, LeBron James going to Philly. Listen. Talk about that shit, man. Listen, this is the way I look at it, right? I look at it like, if they don't make it to the finals and they stacked up like that, You got Jalen Brown, right?
48:31Tony Yayo:And you got LeBron, they're stacked. They got a team. You got Maxi. You got Embiid. You got Embiid. You got Embiid. I'm going to be honest though, with Knicks in five, I don't care. Nah, it's Knicks in five. I'm with the Knicks too. But what I'm saying is the way they're stacked up, if they don't make it to the finals, it's going to look crazy wild for Philly, man. I'm going to keep it real. They said he's staying in New York while he's playing. Yeah, I heard that. So he's staying in New York while he's playing. He's taking a helicopter to... Rob Markman, because my whole thing is, of course, LeBron want to stay in New York.
49:01Tony Yayo:He want to stay in the Hamptons and chill out there. Of course, we know that. He might be in the city. He might be in the city too. But what I'm saying is Jalen Brown and him, I don't know if they going to mesh together. Not saying they can't do it. It's LeBron James. But are they going to get along? LeBron power forward, Jalen Brown small forward, they good. They good. They going to get along. Rob Markman, Andre Drummond's on the Knicks. I like that. Rob Markman, yeah, drumming on the Knicks. We definitely got - Rob Markman, that's my guy right there. Rob Markman, we got somebody that can shoot at the foul line now.
49:30Tony Yayo:You know what I'm saying? Nick's. Rob Markman, see that's the whole thing. Murdo, what I'm saying to you is now, you seeing a lot of teams in the NBA, like I think Dallas just did it now, Eddie. Dallas. Rob Markman, what they did? They got college players that played together. I forgot, what's my man, the new kid on Dallas? Rob Markman, Cup. Cup, the kid, Cup, Cooper Cup. Rob Markman, yeah, they got two of his players, because he played for Duke, right? Right? They got two-est plays from Duke. You can look it up, Ed, because I'm trying to remember everything. They got two-est plays for Duke to play with him.
50:01Tony Yayo:It's like everybody's still in that. They're trying to find the Knick blueprint. Exactly. You talking about Flagg and Lively, right? Yeah, flag and Lively. Yeah, Cooper Flag. Cooper Flag. What the fuck? Cooper Cup? What we talking about? Yeah, Cooper Cup. We had too much branching. It was Cooper. Cooper said Cooper Cup. You know my football season's next. What? Cooper Flag. Shout out to Cooper Flag. It's the branching. My fault. Rob Markman, I'm worried about the Knicks. Rob Markman, Now he has two players that came from Duke to play with him, right? Rob Markman, Yeah, those guys are - Rob Markman, So it seems like that's the format.
50:29Tony Yayo:Rob Markman, Now we got Brunson - Rob Markman, Because they're trying to copy Villanova. Rob Markman, Right. Brunson, Hart, and - Rob Markman, And Mikael Bridges. Rob Markman, They all played in college together and won a chip, right? Rob Markman, Yeah. Rob Markman, It seems like that's what a lot of teams are doing. Rob Markman, Even when you've seen a draft, there's a lot of guys that played in college together that's going to the same team. Rob Markman, But it's like what he said. I'm not even being at it because a lot of people, especially New York, they think I'm biased because I'm a Knicks fan, but that's not the case.
50:48It depends on if you gel together, if they're going to pass the ball to each other. You see the Knicks, they not selfish. That's a fact. O.G. will give you 30 one night, but then he'll rebound and pass the ball. 14 out of the night. Yeah, there was some games where Brunson only had 15, but he had 12 assists. So it's like, everybody can say what they want. They said the Knicks ain't going to do it. We did it. I'm just saying, look, no hate towards Philly. I love Philly.
51:09Tony Yayo:I love Philly. You know what I'm saying? But if he couldn't do it with Luka, what makes you think he could do it with... I don't know why, because a Philly cheesesteak is not better than chopped cheese. Say that again? A Philly cheesesteak is not better than chopped cheese. So they can hold that. Oh no, definitely not. I put a chopped cheese first and then a Philly cheese second. So that's why it's Knicks over sixes. Knicks in five, baby. Yeah, definitely. He's a LeBron fan. Yo, don't wear a jersey on the garden. The LeBron jersey. Murda gonna have the half and half. He gonna have a Philly jersey.
51:38Tony Yayo:You might not make it out. There you go. You might not make it out. It's the Knicks all day, man. But what I'm saying, if the Knicks happen to slip up and don't make it, let's go LeBron. That's respectable. You're a LeBron fan. Let's go LeBron. Just don't play 2K with the Sixers. I'm definitely playing 2K with the Sixers. Yeah, don't do that. Don't have the kids. You're going to have the kids six it out, man. Have the kids six it out. They're going to play the Knicks too, because they love Brusser. My kids love Brusser right there. Yeah, definitely. Everybody loves the Knicks.
