In short

Key Glock discusses his upcoming album Project X (June 19), describing it as a “party tape” lasting like 20–30 days of a movie’s vibe. He explains the title comes from his “X-ing” energy and that the project reflects his circle and the time period he recorded it. He talks about working with beats by reviewing them in-studio and using energy/reaction to judge what will hit. He credits Memphis upbringing for building resilience and says the city’s rough reality shaped his mentality. He mentions 3-6 Mafia as a major influence. He confirms a Sexyy Red collaboration on the current record and says he chose not to add features on Project X, planning that for later.

Notable examples

his “Acting” YouTube track; his Jordan-only sneaker philosophy (including a “one out of 50” pair); and his watch/vehicle collecting approach.

2:37Tony Yayo:Yeah, that's the Talk of New York. And this the boy Uncle Murda, AKA Ledjet Linden. And this the Real Report Show. Make sure y 'all like, share, subscribe. And we got one of the biggest artists out of Memphis. Make some noise for Key Glock. Whoa. Whoa. Yo Glock, appreciate you coming on the show, man. Definitely, man. I see the earrings, man. You looking real good over there. Stevie Wonder could see you with your. God damn. What's good with you, man? Nah, just life, life, life, life. You got the album coming, Project X. Tell us, talk about that. Project X. June 19th, Project X coming. It's really, it's like a, it's like a, it's an outside tape.

3:20It's a fun tape. It's like a party tape. Oh, I know what you're feeling to do, man.

3:24Tony Yayo:I mean, you know how to make hit records. Right. You know, your last one was Let's Go, right? And then you got the one with Sexy Red right now. Yeah, that's. With a bad bitch. And I said to you, I was like, yo, did you pick that beat? I know, because I was like, yo, that, I'm loving that record. Yeah, nah. You know? For sure. I had the beat, but it's crazy. When me and Sexy Link, she played the song and I was like, the beat sounds so damn familiar. And she just, you know what I'm saying? She wanted me to get on it. It just felt good. It just went right along with it. Definitely. So you ready to take over the summer, huh?

4:01Oh, yeah. It's already took. It took. That's right. I already took.

4:06Uncle Murda:What made you call the project Project X? I ain't going to lie, bro.

4:15Like I said, it's a fun tape. It was a party tape. So basically, it's somewhat of like how the movie was. You know what I'm saying? but instead of one night, this shit was going on for like, probably a good 20 to 30 days. Oh, okay. I ain't record the whole, like the entire tape during this band, but half of the songs, like, you know what I'm saying, inspired the tape, Project X, because, you know, I was X. I was X-ing. Gotcha.

4:47Uncle Murda:X-ing. Take it on the X, you know the vibe. Yeah, that's all. Got you.

4:52Tony Yayo:So when you in the studio, how do you find the beats? Because I feel like I'm from New York, and I'm like a big fan of your music, and I fuck with your beats and the flow and everything. How do you, who's your producer? What's the process? The process, I don't really like for people to send me beats. I'd rather have them in a room with me, so I'd rather go through the shit with them, because if I'm not with them, they'll send me some that they think they can hear me on. You know what I'm saying? So I just be like, hey, bro, mood switch up, energy's changed. I'm like, bro, you just got to send the shit you don't think I'll drop on.

5:33And it be like that. And shit just come out. Or sometimes I just sit back and just play beats. And I just watch the room. I just look at everybody's reaction and energy out the beat. If my homeboy's in the room with me and I'm just going through beats and they start trying to have their own rap battle, I know it's one of them, it's a good beat. You know what I'm saying? If you make the nicks motherfuckers wanna rap, they don't rap. It's starting to motivate niggas to rap. Yeah, exactly. They're like, okay, this one of them beats. Gotcha.

6:01Tony Yayo:How was life growing up in Memphis, man? Bang, bang city out there. Man, that shit, I ain't gonna lie. Whatever you see and hear about Memphis, like that shit true. Like ain't nothing really changed. Like it's fucked up. I hate to say how fucked up it is, but I'm glad I'm from there because it made me built for anything. Like anything. I don't care where it is, where I'm at on earth. It's like, by me being from Memphis, the mentality I got, I ain't too much worried about shit. And plus I know God got my back though. So I really ain't worried, you know? Definitely. Definitely. Yeah, and you're musically inclined out there too because there's a lot of good music coming out of Memphis for sure.

6:48Tony Yayo:and I know you a fan of 3-6 Mafia, everybody was telling me. I am too. I remember Buck bringing them around back in the days. Straight up. Straight up. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. That's your favorite group out of Memphis? One of them. Other than me and Dov, yeah. Of course, 3-6, they set the way for us. They set the way for basically everybody. Yeah, that's a fact. They set that way. When you started doing music though? When you started rapping with Dov? When I first started my ninth grade year, high school, but it wasn't serious serious. Just fucking around. I was just trying shit, but I put my first song on YouTube, I think it was my senior year.

7:31It's still on YouTube right now, it's called Acting. Just go to Key Glock, Acting. Yeah, yeah, that's a fact. It's still on YouTube right now. It's first shit, yeah. Break that up right quick. Like shit, ever since then I just kind of fell in love with it because of the people that was around me. And then everybody already knew who I was anyway. So it was like, by me rapping it just was like, you know what I'm saying? It just went together. Yup. Yup.

7:59Tony Yayo:Seemed like with you was no gimmicks, it's just straight hits, straight music, man. Yeah, that's all I try to, I just keep it, keep it simple. Like I don't try to let people in on too much. Like, if you know me, you know, but I'm not finna like, displace certain shit, you know what I'm saying? Cause to the world, I'm an artist and this is how you need to look at me.

8:19Uncle Murda:Definitely. You don't be on the internet doing too much of the shit like that. Yeah, ain't no reason. I be on your page, he posts like,

8:26Tony Yayo:just when the album's coming out or getting old.

8:29Uncle Murda:Nigga like a ghost.

8:30Tony Yayo:That's it, man. Nah, for real. Like, you don't know nothing about it. He think that's how I know. I was like, damn, I'm glad he pulled up. He fuck with us, you know what I'm saying? Real shit.

8:39Uncle Murda:Real shit. Like my guy. You got hit records.

8:42Tony Yayo:You know you from somewhere where it's rough and tough. It's not a game and you made it out. And you know, when I see the young dudes getting money, like I see the car collection because you know everything yellow. Got the yellow color. I done seen the Ferraris, the Lambos. He put the toys up on the gram. Don't worry. He do that. Okay. He got some... You see the boogers in the air. The boogers is crazy over there. He getting some money.

9:05Uncle Murda:All right. He do that. You know what I'm saying? I love that, man. He ain't a little something, son. Come on, man. He's a little something, son. You go block, there you go. He wanna know.

9:13Tony Yayo:And the thing with him is he keep himself relevant because it's like he's not on the gram. He ain't, it's no gimmicks with him. It's just straight music. He always serious. You know what I'm saying? He gonna show the cars in the jury, the videos. You know? Yeah. So it's like, on Project X, who's some of the producers you got on there? We got Honorable C Note. We got King Wonka. got Bankroll got it Kid Hazel and hell of Take Key I fuck with Take Key yeah and Ross you got some features

9:50Uncle Murda:on there I already know I know what he gonna do for the song so on this one you got features I thought about it but I just I was like it really ain't no it wasn't no reason to so I held back on it gotcha maybe on the next tape Got you. This was your experience. Project X was your experience with your people. So you ain't really need nobody else on there for this one. Yeah, you had to be around to understand. What was going on at that time. I got you. I suspect you.

10:17Tony Yayo:I suspect you. For sure. You hit Men's Fashion Week in Paris? Yeah, I've been before. Did I go to the last one? I don't think I went this year. Oh, it's coming up. I ain't gonna lie, I'm blowing right now.

10:30Uncle Murda:Come on, I said we know the vibe. You know what I'm saying? Schedules are everywhere. It's the real report, I see the drip. Like, you know what I'm saying?

10:36Tony Yayo:I see the drip, I see the Virgil's on with the acne. My man be on point with the drip. And keep it light, but it, yeah. It worked. Niggas get drippy, man. Nah, I see the Virgil's on, you know what I'm saying? Straight up. I definitely noticed the drip and your fashion style. And you know, where your fashion style come from? Cause how many Louis Vuitton stores is in Memphis, man? It ain't no high-end designer store in Memphis. So where the fuck you shop at? At all. That's what I'm saying, LaHalle. Know what I'm saying? You coming, I know, know what I'm saying? You... I'm talking about at all.

11:11Uncle Murda:Ain't no Louis stores in Memphis? No Louis, no Gucci, no Prada, no nothing. But niggas got all the shit on. How y 'all get fly? Where you gotta go? You gotta go to Nashville, Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, New York. You can go anywhere, but it ain't, yeah, but Memphis.

11:30Tony Yayo:That's crazy. That shit crazy. That's what I'm trying to say. Anywhere but in the butt Memphis. Yeah, we ain't got it. Damn, that's crazy. But you fly as a motherfucker, so you just got, you shop every, when you go on tour and shit. Yeah, I shop everywhere I go, even if it's like design or not. I don't even have to be like high-end design. If a nigga just like high-end. If it's the shit I like, man, I'm getting it, cause it's for me.

11:55Uncle Murda:Now, word is you only wear joints. Is that true? This is super true. Oh shit, man, what the fuck? Damn, that's it. What's going on with that? Like what's going on with that, man? It really, it really, it really some, some, some childhood shit. It really some, you know, some Memphis shit. So it was like, when I was young, I used to, like every Saturday or every other Saturday, like you know, Jordan's used to come out like probably four or five times a month, every Saturday. And like how we grew up was just like, that shit mattered. Like, you know what I'm saying? For some reason in the black community, That shit mattered.

12:31Like it's cool if you get one one week, but if you get them motherfuckers every week, it's like, okay, you somebody. You somebody for real. And that shit got into me in like middle school. So it just was, yeah. That shit is crazy how I was going on the same,

12:45Tony Yayo:cause that's what we used to hustle for. Sneakers back then. That's crazy. Niggas from Queens, we used to just hustle for sneakers. I don't know exactly what you saying. We older, but it's crazy to hear a younger dude say that. You know what I'm saying? Nah, for real. That shit crazy. When I started touching some real money, you know what I'm saying, play money, I experienced, you know, I still bought like designer shoes and shit, but after so long, it's like, like far as rappers, like my era and shit, niggas get to looking the same, and it's like, we just get to buying bullshit because of that name.

13:20You know what I'm saying? So I had to snap out that shit, I'm like, man, that shit ain't me. I'ma go back to, you know what I'm saying? I'ma rock some J's that cost the same as them designer shoes that probably you don't have on. Like you might go to a club, might go to an event, it might be four or five motherfuckers with the same shoe on. It might be the same color too. I'ma be the only nigga in that bitch with some J's on that's one of 50 and them bitches probably cost the same or more. It's just -

13:49Tony Yayo:Niggas said one of 50. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, I agree. So, alright, what's your favorite Jordan and what's your top five Jordan? Because I see you got the Virgil's on now and I know those. Damn, my favorite? I probably ain't got no favorite. I ain't gonna lie. Your most expensive Jordan? Most expensive? You said you got one that's one out of 50. That cost some racks, bro. What do you mean? That ain't cheap. It ain't, but I feel you. I feel you. That shit cost like over 10 racks for those. And you would wear those shits out? Like, I thought niggas box them shits like when you got the one out of 50 shits.

14:20Yeah, like certain shoes you don't even, you don't wear them. You don't wear them. Yeah, because one night in the club with you, nigga. And then because that shit be so old, it's like they ain't even wearable no more. So you just got to, if you a sneaker, you just get them for the collection. Yeah, for your own. Facts. Yep. I need to keep my shit.

14:40Tony Yayo:I only wear jewelry. That's crazy. For real. For real. I heard about that. I was like, let me ask you a little bit about that. That's really crazy, though. It's like, I'm gonna find a shoe for every fit, no matter how hard it is. I'm gonna get them Jordans, we gonna line that up. We gonna line that up. So no Air Force Ones, nothing, nigga? Nah. I fuck with everything else, but I just personally don't wear it no more. Got you.

15:06Uncle Murda:Got you. Yeah. Other than Jordans, I used to wear phone posits, forces, Hermes 95s, shit like that. Mm-hmm. Yeah, ain't fuck with the Jordans heavy, too, though.

15:18Tony Yayo:Nah, I fuck with the Jordans. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I got the Chinese New Years. I don't think I got a pair. I got those, the ones. Yeah, I got the Chinese New Years. What else I got? I got the, what's the ones we got? The fives? The fives. The fives. I got a couple pairs. I don't know. The Jordans is cool, but you know, we from New York, so we just be having like, we just kind of glow with the flow. So now niggas is wearing like New Balance, A6. Yeah. It be the comfort of the niggas. And I think this That came about Not y 'all But I think that came about From When the designer shoes Started making the little Running looking shoes You know what I'm saying So now people like They wearing the Balenci's That look like a An ASIC or something That is true It's cool to wear it now Cause think about like Back in our era Probably even y 'all era Nigga laugh at your ass You got some ASICs Or New Balance on Yeah for sure

What you think about the color in it? Cutting a great car. It's a great SUV, but it ain't for like.

19:11Everyday shit. It can be, but it's not like a, it's not like a sport, like SUV. It's like, it really depends on what type of person you are. Like, you know what I'm saying? Some people, some people rather have a Ferrari truck or some people might have a Cullinan. Like they cost the same, but it's like, it depends on how you move. You know what I'm saying?

19:36Tony Yayo:How do you like the Ferrari truck? I ain't gonna lie, it's probably my favorite car right now though. I ain't gonna lie. That shit's mean. Yeah, and it's V12. They did it right. Them shit's just crazy, man. Yeah, they did it right. The rubber truck with the doors come out like that. Yeah, they did it right. Like the Phantom. Just get crazy. 20:40Uncle Murda:I see you running around with the sports shit too, the Kansas City Chiefs, Grizzlies and all that shit. Yeah, for sure. What's your whole connection with that? Really just certain players that I genuinely get a relationship with, I foot with, and I just support them. But by being the Grizzlies, I just, by me being from that, yeah, I gotta support them, win or lose. Yeah, facts, facts. For sure. Y 'all probably inspired John Moran to be doing all that shit he be doing. Not Glock, but not me. Not me. I don't need to do all that. You ain't lying. That's a fact. That's a fact, nigga. He said, I don't even do that.

21:13Uncle Murda:He said, I don't know what's going on with my boy. That's a fact. Nigga laid back and said, I don't be doing that. That's a fact.

21:21Tony Yayo:So Glock, with the album, man, what are your expectations with the album dropping? I know you on the press run. You doing interviews. You fuck with us. We ain't doing interviews for y 'all. We appreciate it. We appreciate the love, nigga. We're a wrecking now. Yeah. Yeah, really I'm just, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just showing thanks basically to the fans. Basically, it really, I'm really not like, expecting nothing because I know what it's gonna do. Like it's gonna do what it's gonna do, but it's not like, you know, expectation. I just love making music and satisfying the fans. So this tape ain't really just like, I know, it's just appreciation to the fans.

21:57Like, huh, here goes some fun glop before I get back on my bully. For sure.

22:03Tony Yayo:Well, we already know you're going to come with the hits. That's what it's about. You make big records, you know what I'm saying? And we know you're going to come with it. And we feel like it's going to be a key Glock summer. Nah, for sure. You know what I'm saying? Most dear. What's next? You ever think about going into acting or anything else? I'm leaning into film right now. Oh, that's good. Writing, acting, producing, every aspect of it. You know what I'm saying? I'm freaking that shit out. It just take a little time, but I'm gonna get it done. You know, I'll tell 50, throw him in the movie, man.

22:36Tony Yayo:Get him, get him. I'm a better actor than that nigga. You heard me? Nah, I'm a better actor. Straight up.

22:40Uncle Murda:I'm way better actor than that nigga. Nah, I'm a better actor. You know what I'm saying? I ain't thinking about these niggas, man.

22:47Tony Yayo:You know what I'm saying? I'm a way better actor than this guy.

22:51Uncle Murda:Don't listen to that nigga. You know what I'm saying? Straight up.

22:53Tony Yayo:Don't worry, y 'all catch me on Netflix. I can't talk about it. Yeah, my boy got something coming. My boy got something to catch my boy on Netflix. He coming, he popping. It's hard. I'm executive producing some shit too, so I'm working. I mean, you know, when you be around 50, you know, to me, we hustlers. Like I look at you as a hustler. Yeah, for real. So I look at it as all as a hustle. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. Like I said, you a young nigga, you ain't coming with no gimmicks, real. You know what I'm saying? You just dropping music and doing what you want. Real. You know? More definitely.

23:22Tony Yayo:Get fly, get fresh. More definitely. Get money. How was the Sexy Red video? That video was crazy, bro. You had a good time. I ain't gonna lie. That was that video, man. Damn. Call me on set next time. Let me do some shit. How my life's been set up lately, I ain't gonna lie. It's like how that video was and how Loco and Go video was. Like my nights be like that every other night. Just so happen we put it on camera, basically. Got you. But like, it's the lifestyle that I've been on lately. Yeah. If you ain't seen that video, that's the lifestyle.

24:02Uncle Murda:Here, it ain't no cap. That's his lifestyle for real. Girl, that's the lifestyle. The lifestyle. He's a fool, man. That's right. That's right.

24:10Tony Yayo:You got to go to Memphis, man. I've been to Nashville. Nashville's cool. I want to go. Yeah, it ain't Memphis. It ain't Memphis. What's the difference? The people. It's the people. Yeah, that's all. The people. In a good way and a bad way, but it's the people. It's like everybody from Nashville want to go to Memphis. Like, Memphis is popping. Like, I want to go out there and chill. Is that true?

24:34Uncle Murda:I thought that's how it was.

24:36Tony Yayo:I don't know about that.

24:36Uncle Murda:Maybe niggas in Memphis want to go to Nashville, not Nashville want to go to Memphis. Really? It's like, I'm going to tell you if you don't know about everything. Memphis and Nashville, they really don't get along for some odd reason. I don't know. Not everybody, but it's like they both think they better than one another. Got you, got you. Know what I'm saying? It's just city shit. Like it ain't nothing too deep or nothing. It really ain't even no reason. No one even know where it started. That's the Memphis niggas. That's how it be. Yeah, that's how it be. You know how that be. You know how that be.

25:09Uncle Murda:Southside don't get along with Hollis, shit like that. You know what I mean? For sure.

25:13Tony Yayo:Yeah, you might not get along with this side of Brooklyn, but Brooklyn be different. Cause it be a nigga, you beefing with a nigga down the hallway type shit. You know what I mean? You be like, that nigga's kinda different. You know what I mean? Nigga beefing with a nigga on down the hallway. Burger and this shit shot up. It definitely be like that. Grandma beefing back in the day. It definitely be like that. Brooklyn's getting better though now. Yeah. They trying. Straight up. My grandma was doing something. He like, they trying. Yeah, they trying.

25:41Uncle Murda:I mean, they trying to gentrify a lot of shit in the hood. No, I don't know. It's expensive as Brooklyn than fucking Weston.

25:48Tony Yayo:What about the real estate tip? I know you buying a lot of houses out there because I know that's what people around do. Shout out to people around entertainment. I know y 'all buy a lot of real estate and cars. Yeah, but me personally, like the way my timing and shit be set up, like I treat my watches as real estate. You know what I'm saying? Like I got watches that I buy that I don't even display to the world versus me buying a house, paying for this service, paying for this service, this service, that service to get the house complete, waiting to sell, like, you know what I'm saying? Versus I could just buy this one thing and just, you know what I'm saying, let the value grow up over time as it sit, you know, look at it or have to touch it or have to put no more money into it to get it to a certain value.

26:39Tony Yayo:So you buying plain jeans and straight from Patatia, straight from Rolex? Most of the time, yeah. Right. But sometimes I have to buy Gray Martin, like, you know what I'm saying? not aftermarket but greatmarket, you know what I'm saying? Third party because certain watches you can't get from authorized dealer if you don't have a profile with them already. Right. You know what I'm saying? So you gots to pay a little extra. That's what Itha Vary does. He collects the watches that don't, they appreciate, they don't de-appreciate. What you think about the AP and Swatch collab? Man, I was fucking with it.

27:16I was fucking with it. I was happy for it. I was happy for some people. I wanna tell my nigga Keith Glock thinking about that. I ain't gonna lie.

27:27I thought it was a cool idea. You know what I'm saying? I fucked with it, but once they just came out with the real pictures, like, y 'all really just dropped the ball on, you know what I'm saying? Something that could have been so big for everybody in a way. Like, you know what I'm saying? Like, this shit would have been meaningful to some people. Like, you know what I'm saying? even though it's a couple hundred dollars, they're like, fuck the price, it's an AP. But they kinda, you know what makes them dumb? You know what I'm saying?

27:55Tony Yayo:People materialistic. The colorful APs, they could've sold them for like three, four bands. And niggas would've bought it, you know, five bands. Like, you could've put a nice price on it, 10 bands. And maybe slowly would've kept going, who knows? You might. You just, you really never know. So you think they fucked up with that? Yeah. Yeah. So you're getting rid of all APs. Now you're getting rid of all APs? Nah.

28:17Uncle Murda:Nah, I don't think a nigga that's what I'm saying. It don't gotta go that far. You can just be like, damn, I feel like they shouldn't have did that, but you still keep your AP, because I ain't getting rid of my shit. But I'm a little disappointed that they did do that. You know what I'm saying? I am disappointed. It's like you tampering with the brain. How many years AP been around?

28:35Tony Yayo:How many years AP been around? Because Richard Milley just came out. What you feel about Richard Milley? You feel like it's going to keep his value? I got more riches than anything I got. Nah. I got more Richards and Rolex than any other watches I got. Rob Markman - What's your favorite, Richard? Rob Markman - Probably my 035. RM 035. Yup. It's factory set. Rob Markman - Yeah, it's the talk of New York, Tony Ayo. Rob Markman - And this the boy Ledjet Lenny. Rob Markman - And right now we representing Baskin Lava, Black Own. One of my best products that I love to use is the Beard Grow, because I want to use, you know, pull a whole beard out.

29:13Uncle Murda:Rob Markman - I've been working on my wave, so I've I ain't gonna hold you. I'm gonna show the people how my waves is looking too on the next couple episodes. I'm gonna be like, oh, whoa.

29:59Tony Yayo:Whoa! Yeah! Yeah, because Richard Milley, you should get some cars that appreciate value. You know DJ Envy doing that too. The Cullinans, they say once you get a Cullinan, you pull off the lot and lose like$100 ,000. I don't know how true that is. That's why. I feel like certain cars, like, when it's like that, you shouldn't buy it if you don't just really like it or want it. Like, you know what I'm saying? Don't just get it just to say you got it. Because it's like, might as well lease the motherfucker. If it's going to depreciate, like, quit trying to just, you know what I'm saying? Don't lease the motherfucker then if you're going to sell it.

30:34Yeah, exactly. Exactly. Like every car I ever bought, I still have them, no matter how old it is, still got them motherfuckers. Every one. Because you really wanted that shit. Yeah, for sure. For sure. Even bought some of them twice. Dumb shit. Dumb shit.

30:56Uncle Murda:Well, we gonna come call some cars next time, man. I'm gonna come call some cars for you, man. I'm gonna learn how to drive one of my niggas on Keyglock cars. He don't know none about these cars. I don't even know what cullin' is, Keith. See, see, this is what I was talking about earlier. Like, you don't know how to drive, right? And the motherfucker gave you a free cullin' or a Ferrari truck, which one you take? And I'm gonna tell you which one I think you should take. A nigga gave me a free cullin' or a Ferrari truck? I might go to the Ferrari truck because it's so exclusive. All right, but look, you can get a driver for your cullin' because you can't drive the Ferrari truck and you don't want nobody else to drive that motherfucker.

31:34Say no more, you know what I'm saying? You know what I'm saying? Definitely, he definitely. Say no more. He gonna ask you which one is the best. And then, motherfucker, see, you hopped out the bag of the color, you ain't drive out, you gots to be somebody. Got you, say no more. You know what I'm saying? They can hate if you driving a Ferrari truck. Oh, this is a rental. Got you. Got you. You know how it go. So for a nigga like me, I should get the color in the car. Yeah, you bossed up, you, yeah. He ain't no, we ain't no why, yeah. Say no more. Say no more. Don't tell him to get that. He don't know how to drive.

31:59Get that motherfucker. Ain't no war. Ain't no war. Ain't no war. Ain't no war.

32:02Tony Yayo:He can't drive for shit, man. Yo, tell him when that album drop, man. We appreciate you coming through. We know you got a busy schedule, man. Man, we dropping the album June 19th.
