In short
Rich the Kid discusses his rise from SoundCloud/mixtapes to major-label success, leaving QC for about $800K, and how he built business moves like Rich Forever. He also talks about creating hits (Freeza, Plug Walk), early connections with Migos before QC, and giving Migos the “Versace” beat. Later, he previews his French Riviera–inspired album “C’est la vie,” with international features, and shares stories about fashion, cars, and travel.

All my shit was on SoundCloud. But when he asked me for the$500 ,000, now I think I had like$4 ,500 in my pocket. He didn't get stabbed. Brian, shut the fuck up. Okay. Bro, bro. 3:41Tony Yayo:A lot of diamonds on your neck. A lot of diamonds on the wrist. What you wearing, man? I see you got the Vans on? You got to deal with Vans or something? Rob Markman, what up? Rob Markman, it's my boy, Amanda Vance. I think O3 2C jeans. I don't know what the fuck that shit is. Rob Markman, how'd you start going into fashion? Because I see you at Paris Fashion Week. You got all these big celebrity fashion shows with the biggest people. So how'd you get into fashion? Man, I feel like I always loved fashion. like coming up i always loved fashion so as i started progressing in music i just started reaching out to different fashion houses and different brands and trying to collaborate you know what i'm saying put that on some of your favorite brands rico what what you want now favorite brands sheesh um prototypes um my boy jaden smith just did the um collection with Christian Littleton.
4:44I like that collection.
4:46Tony Yayo:Definitely. Yeah, I seen that. He got some dope stuff going on. Yeah. I got a lot of brands that I like, so it's kind of hard for me to be like, oh yeah, that's my favorite one. Right. But, yeah. I fuck with Balenciaga too. Balenciaga, of course. I see you on a lot of - Celine. Oh, Celine, yeah. I fuck with Celine. It's a million brands you like. All right, cool. We got Plug Walk, three times platinum. Yeah, nah. They ain't updated. They gotta update it first before you down. Hold up, man. He said the numbers is off, nigga. He said that's - The numbers is off, man. I don't write this shit. I know, man.
5:21Tony Yayo:I know you went double platinum, because I know you was on. So it's probably what? What'd you say? Probably eight times platinum, man. It was three times platinum. Can you look it up? That was my joint right there, man. I fucked with Plug Walk. That was my joint, man. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Plug Walk was a very big record. Freeza. What'd Freeza do? Man, it's not updated either. Interscope. Come on, man. Rob Markman, let's go get them numbers right, man. Rob Markman, Yeah. It ain't been updated since 2019. Rob Markman, Dang. Rob Markman, Dang. Rob Markman, So they got some updating. Rob Markman, So tell us what it was like making these two big records, because you got plenty of big records.
5:54Tony Yayo:One thing we know you known for is making hits. Your new single out now is crazy too. Rob Markman, Appreciate it, bro. Rob Markman, But talk about what's the process in the studio, when you started making music, at what age? Because I know you blew up at like 18, 19. Rob Markman, Yeah. You got to go from the beginning, because a lot of people don't even know, you was with QC first, right? Rob Markman - Oh man. Rob Markman - And then you kind of like, branched off and really kind of did your own thing though, and was successful. Because a lot of that don't happen sometimes. Rob Markman - Yeah. Rob Markman - You being down with a label that's that big, and then the artists go do their own thing.
6:24Rob Markman - Yeah. Rob Markman - It don't always end the way you might want it to end, but it wasn't too crazy like that. But you went and did your own thing and was successful. Rob Markman - Yeah. Rob Markman - Really like turned that shit up, man. Talk about that - Rob Markman - I didn't even know he was on QC. Yeah, we were on QC, got away from them and turned them fucked up.
6:37Tony Yayo:Oh, so that's where the song with the Migos come from? Nah, nah, nah. I was with the Migos before QC was like a thing, type of thing, you know? We was collaborating on a couple of projects, like some mistakes we were doing. But yeah, I signed with QC. Like, well, actually, Migos signed with QC first. and they like they got a deal but I was at the crib with them like in the process so I was kind of like I was kind of hurt I was like y 'all nigga got a deal y 'all left me at the house that's messed up y 'all nigga that left a nigga at home heard you heard you but a couple like a week later I got a call from P like yo I'm trying to sign you but I hear you be finessing and shit you funny shelter P he said you be finessing He said you be finessing.
7:30Yeah, he said, oh, you be finessing shit. They told me you be finessing shit. But I'm trying to give you a deal. I'm like, oh, yeah? I need two things. I need a check right now. And I need my engineer to pull up with me. So, shout out to Tilly. Oh, look at that. Okay. So, that's how that went. So, I signed with QT. I was probably signed with them for like two years or something like that. But you know, I feel like at the time, their main priority was the Migos. So I was like, I want to get the same looks that they gained at the time, you know what I'm saying? So me and P, we kind of bump heads and I was like, you know, I just, I want to do my own thing.
8:15You know what I'm saying? So I packed up all my clothes from Atlanta and I got on a plane and I moved to LA.
8:21Tony Yayo:Rob Markman - So what makes you give you this thought process at a young age, like yo, all right, cool. I want to be the main priority on this label. Rob Markman - He right though, cause not even the main priority. Most artists, cause most artists would just stay like, damn, I'm gonna just wait my turns. But you would be so young to be like, yo, nah, this ain't working. Yeah, I would've just wait my turn. I feel you, right? Facts. Man, I feel like, honestly, it was like, okay, so before I signed to QC, or before QC came in the picture with Amigos or anything, it was like a team thing. Like we were working together.
8:54I had an account on live mixtapes and I would like act as a DJ and I put all my songs on the mixtape with Migo songs and Future or fucking whoever's the hottest artist. And I kept on dropping tapes like that. And all the DJs, you know what I'm saying, they were tapped in with me and shit like that. So I already knew what it would take to get there. You know what I'm saying? I already knew. I know what it takes. so the process is not moving with me. I was signed and I was like, okay. I see they shit taking off but you know, I need to do my thing. So I moved to LA and shit and then
9:38QC won like $500 ,000 for me to get out the deal. Damn. Did you even make them$500 ,000 at this time? Okay, no. I never dropped any music on any streaming platforms I think I dropped like two songs. I ain't dropped nothing. All my shit was on SoundCloud and shit. But when he asked me for the$500 ,000, I think I had like$4 ,500 in my pocket. Man, did you feel a little fucked up? Like, damn, that's what you want. You fucked a little fucked up. What you mean a little fucked up?
10:09Tony Yayo:You said you had$4 ,500. You want one and a half a million. Yeah, I was... So what the fuck did you do? Crazy story, man. It's a crazy story. Who did you borrow, my nigga? No, no, no. Who did you finesse? They called you the finesser, nigga. So, no, who did you finesse to get this fire to dance with? It's a crazy story. So, somehow, right? It says somehow. In my phone, I have the contacts. I had to, like, I don't know what happened, but I got locked up on time. And I think I plugged my phone somewhere or something, and I got somebody else's contacts in my phone. So, if you look at my phone, I got Miley Cyrus number, Frank Ocean, I had Kanye number before I even met him.
11:00I don't know how the fuck. That's fucking crazy.
11:03Tony Yayo:It's a crazy story. So you had all these people numbers in your phone? Yeah, in my phone. At the time, PX and put his half a million dollars contract. So what happened next? But I don't know how I got the contact but like last year I found out it was Cortez Bryant context but so at the time I ain't had no money so I got on the context and I just started calling labels I'm like Capitol Records yeah this Rich The Kid I'm trying to get a deal call them Universal yo this Rich The Kid I'm trying to get a deal just calling everybody that's crazy until shout out to Manny Smith Manny Smith answered my call he like he's like are you trying to get a deal come down to Interscope office I was like damn I got a meeting look at that you know what I'm saying so I went down to the office I played the album for somebody who I thought while I was meeting but it was like actually somebody else like his assistant or something so he come in the room and I'm like yeah I need half a million dollars these are the songs I got I played on the project he was like alright I'm gonna let you know give me two weeks alright So, damn, two weeks went by, and he was like, I got you the deal.
12:26Oh, shit. I got you the deal. And all you wanted was the half a million dollars to get out the contract? No, no, no. That was initially what, that's where I was like, I'm stuck in a contract for half a million dollars right now. Okay. So when he came and drew up the contract, and I told him, actually, I don't have any money either. So, yo, buddy. I ain't got no money either. Oh, half things have changed. Don't be on the top. He said, oh, half things have changed. That's true, man. So I'm like, yeah, I ain't got no bread. And so when he did some research, he said, I hope you know that you're actually signed to$300 also.
13:09so I was signed to 300 and I didn't know about it oh look at that so and they wanted $300 ,000 to get me paid god damn
13:19Tony Yayo:now we go from $500 ,000 to$800 ,000 damn this is a story go ahead yeah so then plus I had to get paid so they threw a little sound extra for me they put me in a crib in LA and then I recorded New Freezer like like the first week maybe inside yeah first look at that okay look at that look at that i know that's so it's probably seven eight million but yeah it was a monster record it's a it's a crazy journey though just to have to get some yeah to get some contacts and all that by accident and just to call and for it to work out like that that was god's work man yeah that's crazy crazy story bro i don't I still to this day don't know how I got contacts but I was trying to figure out whose contacts they were so I was like one day I was actually out here and I'm like how I found out I typed in mom and called the person's mom and then she was like I was like yo you got somebody in the music industry your son or something she was like yeah it's Cortez Bryant he managed Lil Wayne oh that's how I got it But I don't know how, cause I never met him right then.
14:41Tony Yayo:I've never heard of somebody get a deal like that. That's crazy right there. That is crazy. It's meant to be, it's meant to be. You can't, it was just meant, man. So when you dropped Freeza, it was a hit record. I know Interscope was obviously excited, cause oh shit, he has a hit. How did you feel? Man, I was ecstatic. It was crazy. It was, I think that was like the second song I dropped with Interscope. and like four weeks after I had the song out, I recorded Plug Walk. Well, I came to them. I was like, yo, I got the song Plug Walk and I would like to drop it. They're like, no, no, slow down.
15:19You just dropped the song, a hit record last month. I was like, yo, I feel strong about this record. Like, I fuck with this one. And they didn't want to drop it. So I kind of argued them down like, yo, let's drop it. And then they dropped it. and then I think it went platinum in like 27 days.
15:38Tony Yayo:Rob Markman, Jr.: Congratulations on that. Yeah, definitely. Plug Wolf. Preciate, man. Rob Markman, Jr.: Crazy. Got some boogers in there. Show that murder, that diamond in this here, man. You got another one too, man? The fuck? There's one over there too, yeah. Rob Markman, Jr.: Nigga blinding me with that motherfucker. How many carrots is that bitch, man? Preciate, man. I have no idea. Rob Markman, Jr.: Wish the kid got some fucking money, man. Shout out to Interscope and them platinum records. So it seemed like you was business minded. starting the game, cause you had your own label. Yeah. You talk about that, J.
16:09Tony Yayo:Critch and Famous Dex, right? Yeah, so actually before I signed to Interscope, I signed Famous Dex and I got with 300 and I did like a label deal with them. Wow. Yeah. So talk about that a little bit. What made you so - Oh, you wound up going back to 300. Yeah, I ended up going back to 300. Okay, look at that. because i ended up i met leor so then i ended up calling you i'm like you know the deal and i'm i'm trying to think i'm not sure if it was before or after i signed when let's go but i know i called leor and i was like yo i got an arson on the side and then um they instantly was like they was down to it that's dope and where'd you find j critch he's from brooklyn right yeah brooklyn Shout out to my boy, Grahams.
17:02My boy Grahams right here.
17:03Tony Yayo:All right, shout out to the Queen. Come on, Brooklyn. That's right, baby. Brooklyn in the building, baby. Queens in the building, too. Yeah, sir. I'm surprised my boy Thuggin' and Buckethead with you, man. My boy, Viking. It's a Queens native that wrote with wrist and kid, too. Queens, Far Rockaway. Shout out to my guy, Viking. Shout out to the Viking. So, we're famous. Any famous deck from somewhere else though? Yeah, he from Chicago, right? Yeah, yeah. I've just been seeing him on live. I see him online everywhere. At one point, I was like, man, this nigga on there entertaining as fuck. I DM him and then we FaceTime and I flew him out.
17:42You had a whole project with NBA Youngboy, right, man? How that came about, man? Man, just working a lot. You know what I'm saying? We were doing a lot of records. and then I think I already, he was locked up. He called me, he was locked up, he called me. He was like, yo bro, when I get out, we gotta drop this album. I was like fire. So when he got out, I flew to Baton Rouge and then I sat down for a couple weeks. We cooked up. We cooked up, I hooked him in Baton Rouge. Then when he was able to move, I think we finished the project in LA. I think it was Jason Derule got a studio that he had booked out to us.
18:32So we finished it over there. Yeah, that's my brother.
18:36Tony Yayo:How do you be business minded at such a young age? Usually when artists are getting the money, they're getting the females, they're driving the cars. You're not thinking about starting your own label like Rich Forever you did in 2016. It's like you was the head of the game to be a CEO, not just an artist. Where does that come from? Definitely from being a hustler, you know. But I also think seeing what P was doing, signing artists, you know what I'm saying, how I just left it. Like I just had to give this nigga 500 ,000. You know what I'm saying? So I was like, shit. So you was soaking in that game from P.
19:11Would you ever do that to an artist though, man? Huh? Would you ever do that to an artist? Ask him for 500 ,000? Yeah. You never know. Oh man, damn. Yo, Jay Critch, watch this nigga, man. Watch this nigga, man. Yo, Critch, you gotta watch this nigga, man.
19:24Tony Yayo:Yo, business is business, man. P is a genius for that, man. He's sitting up good with the millions, man. Yo, Brooklyn, we gotta watch this nigga, man. Nah, it's dope, so you soaked in that game from P. QC, I never knew you would sound to QC, that's crazy. I was like, mm-hmm. You know, he's a genius. He had fucking Migos, City Girls, Little Baby, the list goes on and on. You know what I mean? You know what I mean? So then you just started learning everything. You was watching them. You one of them niggas that soak in that game. That's what you telling me. Because you was young to have your own rich family.
20:01I was probably like, you know, inspired of course, watching what he was doing. You know what I'm saying? Even though we were bump heads, I was still, you know what I'm saying? Like nigga getting young niggas out the hood and making it happen. So that was dope. Mm-hmm. No, I gotta respect that.
20:17Tony Yayo:How was it like from artists to CEO? How was that like transitioning?
20:24I feel like just having a good team of my boys around me, Grahams, Ralph, Marshall. It's all my people. I think we just had to learn and adapt to the changes as it went. You feel what I'm saying? It was not like we sat there and we planned, okay, this is how we're gonna do it. We're gonna get a big label. You know what I'm saying? I feel like we just had to adapt like, oh you gonna sign this all right let's do it so yeah i wasn't working with lil wayne man you know he considered one of the goats in this hip-hop shout out to little wayne yeah he is a goat man man amazing bro i never thought i was like we doing an album with lil wayne when i was young listening to his music and listening to um mixtapes his albums like i was like that was the studio working together on the lottery system Yeah, it was in studio, we were getting together a lot of that shit.
21:18So yeah bro.

21:19Tony Yayo:Rob Markman - That's crazy because you're not just doing one off songs, you're doing whole albums. That's how you know they respect you. Rob Markman - Album with NBA Youngboy, Rob Markman - With Wayne. Rob Markman - Where the fuck does that come from? I know you got hits, but you know like, what the fuck? You never really hear artists doing that too much. But I know you had the one with NBA Youngboy, but I didn't realize you had one with Wayne too. Yeah, yeah. Man, I don't know, just having good relationships. Wayne, that's like big bro. He skateboard, I skateboard. It just made sense. Definitely.
21:56Tony Yayo:What you doing when you made your first million dollars and how old was you? I did a backflip.
22:08Tony Yayo:What the fuck? What did you do, man? What did you spend? I'm serious. I don't even know how to do that. I'm serious, nigga. I did a back flip, nigga. Fuck that, nigga. I know you did a back flip, but I'm saying. I believe that, nigga. After the back flip, what the fuck? I believe that, nigga. Cause you was what? 21? 20? I mean, fucking you had to pay P back 500. You had to pay fucking 300 back 300. That's 800 right there. But I know you was like, you was playing with money at that time, but. I think my first meeting was like when I did like a pub deal. It was like right after I signed Interscope.
22:42Then I dropped New Freezer. Then I dropped Plug Walk 27, like a month after. So they're like, oh yeah, this nigga not playing. Yeah, it's back. They're gonna snatch Buddy up. Them shit was like, you know,
22:55Tony Yayo:you heard Plug Walk and Freezer on the radio constantly. constantly, constantly, constantly. And that Interscope machine is a good machine to be behind. Then you came with your own label, so I always looked at you as like, yo, he's smart, he's getting a lot of fucking money, and he's keeping himself relevant for fucking, what, over 15 years now? Because you started your label in 2016? Damn. 15 years, yeah, yeah. Well, 10 years, whatever, 10 years. But he still had records before that. So we're talking about the B4. We're in Ibiza, Monaco. And you jump in the shower. The water is totally different. The water is different on the skin. It's harder on the skin. And like being in Paris, throughout my career, at my first tour, I was on tour with, I think it was, I think I was on tour with Future. So Future brought me on, shout out Future. He brought me on my first tour and being in Paris, I fell in love with Paris the first time I was there. And then. Sound like yeah, yeah with that shit, he loved Paris. I just started going out there all the time. So now I just started going to all the fashion weeks and shit like that, you know, tapping in with the fashion houses and shit um but then like as i was there some more i'm like they have some real creative people out here i gotta tap in with the directors like my last video it was shot in paris the directors are from france and stuff so i was just like i need to tap in with these people out here in france and you know work with them so i started working with them and the more I was out there I was like the album needs to be like French inspired like Moulin Rouge just C 'est la vie, it means that's life so you know anything you do is life, you know what I'm saying I like that you know what I'm saying What's some big features you got on there?
33:01I got Rima, you know Rima?

This nigga over there like, yo, you hear that? You got that? You just say, no, no, J Balvin, and Justin Bieber like it was nothing. This is crazy, man. That's crazy, bro. That's fire, though. You feeling the take over? That's just a few. You know how hard it is to get featured right here?
34:03Rob Markman, You said just a few. A few just to name a few. Rob Markman, Nah, it feels good. Listen, it feels good.
34:08Tony Yayo:Rob Markman, That's fire, my nigga. Rob Markman, You know why I'm like, I'm glad we had you on the show, because you're one of the artists that's definitely a GOAT, a legend. You became a CEO. You know what I'm saying? I'm learning stuff I didn't know. I didn't even know you learned from QCP. Shout out to him, one of the genius in the game. Rob Markman, Nah, for sure. Rob Markman, You know what I'm saying? And you've always had platinum records, been on billboard charts, signed Interscope. And I'm hearing your story. This is off a fucking phone. Like, that shit is crazy. The finessa. The finessa.
34:36Tony Yayo:Word. Yeah, the finessa. And you young and doing that shit. That might be the name of my movie. The finessa. The finessa. Word. The movie. The finessa and Lil Credit, man. Then he wasn't even no DJ. I think that's it right there. The finessa. Then he wasn't no DJ. The movie. And then it's like, every time we know what we're going to get from you is certified hits, bro. And like, you've been relevant for over 10 years now. Rob Markman, a lot of these artists are not, it's microwave music. Let's keep it real. You can go overseas and still make money off of Plug Walk. You can go overseas and make money off of Freezy.
35:10Tony Yayo:You got way more hits, but off of them two songs alone, he can go anywhere around the world. It's not microwave music. You're making music that's lasting forever. Now you're telling me you got the Celle V album, which I'm excited about, because the music game been a little dry now. You know what I'm saying? but you said Justin Bieber, J Balvin and Gunna, that's right there. I'm buying the album. Straight up, I'm going to buy the album. Not just because of the features, because I know he's going to fucking have hit records. Rob Markman, Ph.D.: Definitely. I appreciate that. Rob Markman, Ph.D.: The features did top it off, man.
35:44That topped it off.
35:44Tony Yayo:Rob Markman, Ph.D.: I mean, he didn't work with NBA Youngboy. Listen, he done work. Think about this. He's not going to have a problem with features ever in his life. You know, we on the New Yorkers, the grabber wave now. All right, cool. Rob Markman - What's your favorite Haitian dish? You fuck with the Haitian potato salad and all that? Yeah. I like lambi, and Gia sauce point. Of course. Rice sauce. Rob Markman - Oh, I was just, you know me, I was about to check you. What the fuck that mean, yeah? I was definitely about to check. Rob Markman - He got good Crayola though. It's Crayola's better way to think of it.
36:21Tony Yayo:Rob Markman - It's Crayola's better than yours, yeah? Rob Markman - So, you love him in Miami. Yeah, I didn't even know. I forgot how you say shit. No, they love him in Miami. Damn, man, you blessed, man. So how does it feel that like, yo, I'm dropping this album? When is the album dropping though, Rich? You ain't got that exact date yet? Good question. He said that's a good question. It don't even matter. You got J Balvin on that bitch and fucking, you know? You outta here. You know how hard it is to get features like that? You ain't lying, though. I appreciate it, bro. I appreciate that. You blessed, man.
36:53How do you even get those relationships with a J Balvin and a Justin Bieber, man?
36:58Tony Yayo:Man. Was that the phone, the finessa phone? The finessa, let me see the lights. The finessa phone? You finessing that lighter right now. Nigga caught J Balvin, yo, this was the kid. Bro, the song me and J Balvin, we did it like four years ago. Oh, okay, look at that. So me and J Balvin was in the studio. I think it was at Quad, actually. Quad, we did like three songs in one day. Okay, look at that. Shout out to Quad Studios. And Bieber, I've been cool with Bieber like forever. Forever, we've been cool for like five, six years. I seen him at Coachella one day, he came up to me, he said, yo Rich, you looking fresher than a degree stick.
37:42Pause Bieber. He said, yeah, man, we gotta work. I said, yeah, cool, but we didn't work right away, but we didn't work in like some years down. That's dope, that's dope, that's dope.
37:54Tony Yayo:So you excited for this album that's coming on? Yeah, for sure, for sure. Hell yeah. I know you got some hits on there. Ceylon B. I got a lot of hits on that. Wow. What? So you shot your new video in Paris. Talk about the single. Let's talk about the single. Yeah, Callin' My Line. Which was dope. I like how you had Jack Nicholson and all those crazy visions in your shit. In the video. He said, we saw the video before that shit came out. No, we did, but when I seen it, I watched it on YouTube again. Yeah, same here. We saw it early though, definitely. Yeah, I heard that shit before I came up. Yeah, man, I shot, bro.
38:31You know, the crazy thing about it, so I was planning to go to Paris to shoot my album cover, and I had somebody else that was going to shoot the video initially. But it kind of fall through with them. So when I got to Paris, I was kind of like scrambling to find somebody else to shoot the video but like i said there's a lot of a lot of um talented people in france and paris so i mean i just started searching sometimes i just search on my phone and i might go to somebody that somebody's following i just go through all their followers and look up the creatives and like that i spent a couple hours doing that So I founded this one page and I was like, I was like, oh yeah, these people are sick.
39:19So I reached out to them and we shot the video in 48 hours. After I sent them this on, they sent me the treatment. The visuals they put together, that shit was crazy. This shit was crazy. The visuals was crazy. Yeah, yeah.
39:33Tony Yayo:You ever think about buying some real estate in Paris? I love it out there. Man, I think I would actually. Paris, for sure. definitely like Europe. I just love, I love Europe. I love Europe. I know y 'all fuck with y 'all. Yeah, I fuck with Paris. Did you go see the Mona Lisa? Mona Lisa? Nah, I ain't seen it. You ain't come on. As much as you'll be out there fashion week and all that. You don't go see the Mona Lisa? You gotta go see the Mona Lisa. I'm gonna go see the Mona Lisa. Yeah. See the Mona Lisa. It's a good experience, man. You should shoot a video in the Eiffel Tower, your next video.
40:04Tony Yayo:That would be sick. That's a good idea. No, you can pay for it. I think it's probably, maybe like$50 ,000, $80 ,000 a night. Rob Markman, You can pay for it. Rob Markman, You got it, man. Rob Markman, You can pay for it. Rob Markman, You think you being in New York, Atlanta, and Cali, because it seems like you could make every kind of record. You could make a record with the Migos where it's going to bump in Atlanta, or Plug Walk, it does have a Southern feel, a Cali feel. Rob Markman, I mean, Plug Walk feels like it got a Cali feel, and then Freeza feels like it kind of got a New York feel me like all your music.
40:41Tony Yayo:I don't know. It's like you could sound like you just switch your style. No record sounds the same. Rob Markman I could adapt to anything, anywhere. You know what I'm saying? Rob Markman Mm-hmm. Rob Markman Because you was one of the first artists to work with the Migos. You and Drake, I believe. Rob Markman Yeah. So that's the funny thing. Like, so the pack that the song with Drake and Migos, I gave Migos the beats from Zaytoven. I gave Migos the beat from Zaytoven and then they did the Versace song with Drake. Rob Markman - Damn, I know you was tight. Rest in peace, take off. I wasn't tight, bro.
41:14Tony Yayo:Rob Markman - I wasn't tight, I gave them that beat. Like, damn. Took off. That Versace beat was crazy. Rob Markman - I feel like at the time - Rob Markman - You was happy for your day. Rob Markman - Yeah, I was happy for them. Rob Markman - I was just like, it's a team. Rob Markman - Nigga, you just said in the beginning you was the priority. Rob Markman - Yeah, yeah. Rob Markman - You said you wanted to be, hold on. You said you wanted to be priority and you felt like the Migos was getting all the shine. So why you give him the heat? This was before P even came in. This was before there was no QC.
41:41None of that. I mean, man, I was like, yo, let's work. I just got like seven to ten beats from Zaytoven. They're like, where? Where they at? Let's get it. We did a guy in the studio and then shit. You don't like the Versace beat? um they had it they had it and they did it by themselves so yeah i was not there that's just oh look at that okay rest in peace take off man that's a tough loss man yeah how you
42:10Tony Yayo:thought about that when that happened i know that was crazy man it's crazy legend legendary group migos is a definitely a legendary group man for sure migos damn broke records when that That shit came out with Drake, Versace, Versace. These niggas got it right now. Yeah. The whole label. Lil Yachty too. You work with Lil Yachty before too? Yeah, we got, I think we got like two songs. Yeah, Yachty be on his fashion shit. I know he be like, yo, dress better than niggas in New York. He do be on his fashion. That nigga got a lot of money though. See a nigga quit, he got some shit, man. He be doing his thing.
42:46Tony Yayo:I can't front on Lil Yachty, I fuck with him. I just seen that nigga in Hamptons like yesterday. Two years ago. He dress better than niggas in New York. Yeah, but he could dress though. I ain't gonna hold you. But you know New York, you know how we do out here, man. You know what I'm saying? But nah, little guy, he could dress though. He be done. He be done. He be done. He dress like Oprah, man.
43:06I'm just saying what I'm saying. I'm just saying what I'm saying. I ain't never doing saying niggas better. Yeah, we gotta find that for all. You gotta find that for me.
43:15Tony Yayo:I know I never see my nigga rich like that. I ain't got no shit like that. How you getting to the skateboarding? Fucking with Wayne, right? You like a command. You the finesse of my nigga. You the finesse of my nigga. You the finesse of. He getting money skateboarding too, my Merc, are you heard? He the finesse of for real. 43:46So, I started skateboarding and yeah, I started getting good at it over time, you know. It's not an easy sport.
43:57Tony Yayo:That's it at, man. Rob Markman - No, skateboarding is, I don't know, it's different. I think we break a bone. Rob Markman - I'm surprised Wayne is a skateboarder. Like that nigga's actually good. You good too though. There's a couple of niggas that's good at that skateboarding shit. Rob Markman - Yeah. Tyler created? I think Tyler. Rob Markman - Yeah, I think Tyler get busy too. I don't know. He don't like me. Who? Don't dis-tell him. Try this nigga. You don't fuck me. Yo, so let me ask you. You know I'm a car guy. 44:28Tony Yayo:What's the favorite? What's on the list of cars? You know I'ma ask you about the car. My favorite car? You can give me two or three. McLaren? Because I think I know you got one of those. My favorite car I got. Lamborghini? Ferrari truck? I like, no, you know what? I got a Mansory G-Wagon. Mansory? Mansory, yeah. So I got like a partnership with them. For real? You got a partnership with Mansory? Yo, tell them we need them interview, bro. That is fine. That's crazy. We was in London at the hotel, and you know, he don't know nothing about cars. I don't. So it was a fandom out there with the Mansory kid.
45:07and I'm like, yo, that kid could cost like an extra 500,
45:12Tony Yayo:600, you don't know the price. I was just looking at some on YouTube where they had all the Manzori cars in Dubai. Like the kid alone could cost you, you know. Remember he said the car was a million dollars. He said the kid was as much as the car. Yeah, the guy from London was like, he bought the whole car from Manzori just for a million. Damn. Yeah. Yeah, I bought my G-Wagon and I built it with Manzori. That's crazy, bro. How you thought of that? You a creative motherfucker.
45:41You a thinker.
45:42Tony Yayo:You just don't want a regular G-Wagon. You went to Mansour. I know that cost you what, three, four hundred to do that? Nah. Maybe five hundred? Nah, so I think, so I met with the Bravers. I met the Bravers people. So one of my PRs. That's another kid company murder you don't know about cause. Bravers. It's another kid. Robbers, Robbers. Costs a lot of money. You don't know nothing about cars. Go ahead, I understand. Go ahead, put me on. Scott, right here. You still learn how to drive. I am.
46:18So I was telling them, I was telling Robbers, like, I need to give me a deal. Cause I'm gonna turn that up. And they, they was like, okay. I was talking to them and then, like it did, it kind of like fell through. So I went to, I think I was in LA.
46:37Tony Yayo:Rob Markman - Where the fuck did you get this ego and confidence from? You're telling a multi-million dollar company, y 'all need to do this deal with me, I'll turn you up. It's promise. Everybody's going to buy every... It's established already. Where the fuck is that coming from? Rob Markman - From turning up other brands. You know, I feel like I'm turning a lot of - Rob Markman - I know my value and I know what I can do for y 'all shit. Rob Markman - Right. Rob Markman - Like Goyard. Rob Markman - Mm-hmm. Rob Markman - Stuff like that. Rob Markman - That's true. turn the folks up you turned them up that's a fair well back to Mansourian Roberts go ahead but yeah I was told I was speaking to Roberts and they the deal like fell through and I was in LA at a car shop and I was telling him like yeah I was talking to Roberts but it fell through and he was like you really need to tap in with Mansourine and I was like oh yeah I didn't know about Mansourine at the time he just told me about it I looked him up and I reached out to him It's like, yo, I'm trying to do something with y 'all.
47:34Yeah, what's good? So they hit me back. They was like, yeah, let's do it. What car would you like to do? Got on a car with them, set up a meeting, did a Zoom, put something together and then, shit, I was a Menzuri guy. You know what I mean?
47:52Tony Yayo:You gotta deal with Menzuri. So - You realize they got caviar and all kinds of shit too? I don't even know that. But this was, I think this was like a year ago, so I turned Mansoury up. I told Brabis I could've turned you up. Oh, he taking a shot at y 'all. Brabis, I want y 'all to know that's a shot. He just took a hit y 'all. No, I like Brabis, but Mansoury, it's Mansoury. Like, that's a big deal to me. If you look at when I start working with them until now, you'll be like, oh yeah. Everybody trying to go to Mansoury now. Y 'all was just trying to go Brabis before. So now they see me riding, I had the first Mansoury G-Wagon in America.
48:32Rob Markman - Now I believe you, because everybody used his shit to be back in the house. Rob Markman - I'm just saying now. Rob Markman - Who wasn't even this excited about Justin Bieber and J Balvin? Rob Markman - Who the fucker feature nigga? Nigga start talking about cars, he turned up that nigga like, fuck, I was the first nigga with this shit. 54:49Tony Yayo:Because it's like you got good music, but you in the good rooms too, like Travis Scott. playboy cardi kanye how the do you make deals like like how do you even get in a room with these niggas oh everybody obviously with you and your music officer so one of that time oh i think i had a show i had a show in dubai i was doing a show in dubai and i seen ty dollar sign post like he was in saudi arabia and i had a day off so i'm like you in saudi arabia you working on and the album went, yeah, album damn, just hop on a flight. So I hopped on a flight. I took a taxi to the resort. When I got there, they put me in the room.
55:38I was like, yeah, record some shit. So I called my producer who made Plug Walk and I was like, yo, I'm in the studio, about to fix some shit up, send me some beats. I made the song in like 15, 20 minutes. And then Ty got on there and then we actually did two songs that day.
56:02Tony Yayo:Rob Markman 1 - So you tell your producer, I'm in the studio with Playboy, Cardi, Kanye, or you just tell him I'm in the studio and he make a beat like that? Rob Markman 1 - No, at first I was just in the studio by myself. Ty wasn't there yet, it was just me just set up in the room. I was like, yo, just send me a bunch of shit. You know what I'm saying? And the Carnival beat sounded like some new age, like trap rock type of shit. Rob Markman 1 - It definitely was different. Rob Markman 1 - I was like, yeah, this beat sounds like something. You know what I'm saying? So I did it and then Ty came in, he put his part on there.
56:40And then we did two songs. Two weeks later, three weeks later, Ty called me like, yo, Yee said he wants you to be on the project. Which one of the two songs you think should be on there? And then I listened to both of them. I was like, oh yeah, it should be this one. So I told him kind of, and then like a week later, they sent me a version with Yee verse off. Yeah. I don't wanna get that. Damn, nigga.
57:10Tony Yayo:What the fuck? That was fire. Yeah. That shit crazy. But you take chances though. He said he was in Dubai. He could have been like, man, I'm chilling. Rob Markman, Sordy? Hold on, let me get that flight. Rob Markman, See, it's the power to pull up. This guy's just a smart guy. He's a hustler. He got the music. He got the hits. But one thing I'm realizing is he's a hustler, bro. That's crazy. He worked with every big artist. But just to be in these rooms and getting there, get a record with Kanye, Playboy Cardi, you know, Ty Dolla$ign. It's hard, bro. You know what I'm saying? And keep yourself relevant amongst the years.
57:47Tony Yayo:That's crazy man. Congratulations to you. I already - We know the album got J Balvin on it, Justin Beaver and Gunna. I see you got any more features of those? That's all he need. You ain't lying. I'm just asking. We need that. We need that to come out soon. We need to come that. That to come out real soon bro. You independent right now? You with a label or you independent, Rich? I got a partnership with a label called Remus. Remus? Choke and Remus. They from Puerto Rico. They got Bad Bunny over there. Okay, oh you went over there with some Bad Bunny, man. This guy skimmed with a finessa for real.
58:31Yo, man, this guy's the finessa, man. I'm done, I'm done. You see how he tried to say the label? He like, I know y 'all niggas might not know the name for the label, right? So I'ma say Bad Bunny after.
58:41Tony Yayo:This guy's the luckiest nigga in hip hop. Give me that fucking lighter bro. Like it's nothing, Bad Bunny's on my label. You better get him on the album too, what the fuck? He's on Mad Calm, man. What the fuck? That's my man. It's a label that Bad Bunny manager started. Okay. So I also got another project. Do you have a record with Bad Bunny? Do I have a record with Bad Bunny? All right, I'm gonna see you. Bad, you call them Babs, man. It's Bad Bunny, man. Bad Bunny, man. Yeah, man. You just wanna correct me, man. Shit, yo, damn, Rich, man. How the fuck do you make these moves? You got another project you said you working on too, man?
59:23Yeah, I got another project. So how I got the deal, I had a project that I was working on. Well, yeah, I'm working on. It was like all Latin artists. So it's like me rapping with Latin artists on every single track.
59:39Tony Yayo:Rob Markman - Oh now you're doing a Latin album too? Rob Markman - Trying to tap into that market. Tapping into that market over there. There's a lot of money over there right now. Rob Markman - You know Spanish? Cause you Haitian. We right next to DR. You know those Spanish? Rob Markman - No, my artist, my DJ from DR. So he been tapping, like having me tapping with different Latin artists. I just been doing a lot of songs. Rob Markman - Oh man, once you get in that lane, you already know what it is, man. Rob Markman - Yeah. I'm gonna drop that one right after this one. Right after, got you. I got it ready for you, man.
1:00:06You got it all planned out, man.
1:00:07Tony Yayo:That's right, that's right. One thing about him, you know he's a thinker, bro. Of course, man. You seen all the plays he made? Yeah, I'm just signed on the same labels. Badge Bunny. Ain't nothing. Yo, who you got on the album? You got to know. J Balvin and Justin Bieber. It ain't nothing. Something like... It ain't nothing. Thanks. That's crazy, man. Much success to you, man. Appreciate it. You ever think about signing more artists? I thought I dropped this album for sure. Yeah. Got to put it on for that. Just know if he signed y 'all niggas and if shit go low left, he gonna want 500 ,000 for y 'all niggas to get out that card track.
1:00:45Nah, he not gonna do that to him. He gonna do them niggas high. He got dead, man. I'm telling you, man. That's why he laughing like that. Man, you see that laugh, yeah?
1:00:53Tony Yayo:He might want 100 ,000. Maybe 100. Maybe 100. I mean, look what he did with Jay Critch and Famous Dex. He put him on the map. Shout out to Jay Critch, Brooklyn, and Dex, Chicago. Two different places. You know what I'm saying? Facts. Young CEO. You need to sign more artists. Don't worry. I'll get some more artists for you. I got you, man. Work on it, man. Because you a fucking small guy. I appreciate that, bro. So do you know when the album wants to drop? Or we just never worry. Just tell niggas never worry. We got the big things anyway. The album's going to drop. They're from this year. Rob Markman, what was it like working?
1:01:29Rob Markman, he said definitely this year. He's about to say it. The nigga said, well, the album's gonna drop, well, definitely this year.
