In short
Terence Crawford reflects on retiring at 42-0, his upbringing and discipline, a near-fatal shooting two weeks before a fight, and his views on Boots Ennis (“hater” talk and “easy work” disrespect). He also discusses Claressa Shields’ future, the state of boxing matchups, and how Jake Paul changed YouTube boxing’s credibility.
Guests
The episode is hosted by Rob Markman, Tony Ayo, and Uncle Murda (Ledjet Liddy), with Crawford as the main guest. (No other named guest appears beyond the hosts.)
Guest background (Terence Crawford)
Former undisputed, multi-division world champion (“future Hall of Famer”), known for counterpunching power and a disciplined, investment-focused lifestyle; also runs a North Omaha youth sports/nonprofit program.

2:18He should have thanked me, to be honest. I feel like he's a hater. Okay, gotcha. If I'm going to be a 1000 % It's the real report show. It's all good. That's what we do in picture. Yes sir. Yes sir. I think he a hater. Mmm. He didn't get stabbed. Shut the up. Okay. Bro, bro. Who do you get movies with? Oh! Rebel! Yo, bro. Got my video. I don't guess I don't want you. What's up? I don't want you to watch out. I don't want you to watch out. I don't want you to watch out. I don't want you to watch out. I don't want you to watch out.
2:50Tony Yayo:Yeah, it's the talk of New York, Tony Ayo. Rob Markman, and this is the boy Uncle Murda, aka Ledjet Liddy. Rob Markman, and today we have the future Hall of Famer, the man with the hands, 42 and 0. Rob Markman, The legend. Rob Markman, The legend. Rob Markman, Make some noise for Terrence. Rob Markman, Crawford, the champ. Rob Markman, We call him Bud. Make some noise for him. Rob Markman, Yeah, yeah. Rob Markman, Whoa, whoa, whoa. Rob Markman, Yo, I didn't think you was going to show up. I ain't going to front this out. Biggest interview of the year, man. Rob Markman, Champ, Champ. Rob Markman, Appreciate you, Champ.
3:16Tony Yayo:Don't leave me hanging, Champ. Leave him hanging. Leave him hanging. Hey, shut up, nigga. So how does retirement feel? 42 and 0. You know, I see you. You're a sportscaster now too. Man, it's great. I'm living life. I'm traveling the world. And I'm just getting the opportunity to enjoy the fruits of my labor. Definitely. I see you with the kids a lot. Yeah. Always. Name some of the places y 'all went. We went to Tanzania. We went to Cairo, Egypt. I'm about to take my daughters to perish or wherever they want to go since the boys they did Africa. So I've just been enjoying them. Definitely, man.
3:57Tony Yayo:You see it. Your son wrestled, right? Yeah. Just wanted to stay there as a freshman. So he still, you know, got three more years to try to be a four-timer. Why wrestling and not boxing? What made him go that path instead of boxing? Well, I used to wrestle. My dad, he was a big wrestler and boxer. my grandpa, my uncles, they were state champions and things like that. Oh, okay, got you. So wrestling and boxing is in the blood. Okay. So me personally, I just didn't want him to box because of the head trauma and the magnitude of brain damage and things like that. So I told him you can do anything but football and boxing.
4:33Got you, okay, okay. Damn, that's real right there. Look at that, look at that.
4:37Tony Yayo:That is crazy. North Omaha, you like the humblest guy in boxing. I remember one day, I remember we was at, Rob Markman, He ain't humble in the ring, nigga. Rob Markman, Nah, but he's humble though. I remember we was in Shreveport and I was like, he doesn't spend any money. He's like 50. 50s doesn't spend any money. Rob Markman, Facts. Okay, okay. Rob Markman, So I'm like, yo, buy your lady a bag. He was like, yo, don't be putting stuff in my head, man. Rob Markman, I remember that. Rob Markman, I remember the knuckles was out to the air. I got kinda scared. Rob Markman, I was like... Rob Markman, So what makes you so fine and suavey?
5:08Tony Yayo:Because I've seen you on Joe Rogan and everybody talking about the Mayweather thing. How a lot of boxers spending money. you know, but you don't spend any money. Nothing. Because the stuff that nine times out of 10, a lot of people spending money on don't mean nothing when you get it. You know, I didn't bought cars, not crazy amount of cars, but just say if I spent$20 ,000 on a car, still drive the same. So why would I go spend$200 ,000,$300 ,000 to drive a car around that's gonna get me to the same place that this$20,$20 ,000 car. So you never wanted a Lambo forever? People say, cause you just made a hundred million.
5:52Nigga don't not. That's a waste. I'd rather spend that money on an asset, not a liability. Something that's gonna bring me money in, not just take money away. Got you, got you. You can't buy some things with Warren Buffett and all that too, man. I see you doing some things with Warren Buffett and all that. Rob Markman - Well, we had a couple of meetings and we chopped it up and stuff like that. You know, Warren Coole. Rob Markman - Facts.
6:20Tony Yayo:I think a lot of people admire him for that. Because it's like, yo, you know me, I'm like, yo, if I had that money, I could imagine the Rob Markman - He's buying everything. So it's just like, it's not normal. Like he's so humble. It's like, you know what I mean? You come from a small town, you know what I mean? You just humble. But you can make a hundred million like it's no problem. And you don't spend nothing. No Ferrari. I'm surprised you got a Louis shirt on right now. What kind of watch you got over there Murda? Because I know he's buying watches. I know he's - I don't buy nothing. He laid back with it.
6:50He chilling, man. My boy chilling right now, man. He chilling. You don't buy nothing?
6:53Tony Yayo:Why? I don't need to. It's crazy when you got money to buy anything you want when you at the pinnacle of your sport, a lot of things get given to you. People pay you to travel out of town and things like that. People gift you things and then you just look up and you be like, man, it's crazy because when I was broke, I couldn't get nothing and shit. But now that I got money to buy it on my own, it's gifted to me. So I'm going to be buying nothing. And you teaching your kids to be humble too. Cause I know it was like, dad, you got all this money. You're not spending that. They know. Cause if I was - They don't grow on trees.
7:41Tony Yayo:Your son's supposed to be asking you for a Lambo. Like, dad, get like two or three Lambos. Yeah. Get out there and get two or three jobs, my boy. Wifey get 10 Birkins. You could do that. I ain't married, so I ain't gotta get no Birkins. All right, well, Birkins for whoever you messing with. 10 Birkins. That's you. Rob Markman, No, I don't have it. I can't afford it. Rob Markman, That's you. Rob Markman, I wish I could. Rob Markman, I'll leave that all up too. Rob Markman, I'm making investments. I ain't thinking about that. I got investments to make, man. Rob Markman, I mean, he's with Warren Buffet and all these guys.
8:13Tony Yayo:And like I said, I seen you on Joe Rogan and I watched that whole episode, because the whole Floyd thing. Not saying he is broke, but he spent a lot of money. Rob Markman, You see him buy 20 cars, 20 watches. So, I mean, I think that's the seller for him, but the seller for you is, you don't buy shit. Because I spend money on the things that I enjoy spending money on, like taking trips, seeing my family happy, doing for the people that's in need. I gifted over$700 ,000 to Africa to build this learning center. Look at that. Just things like that. Like that makes me happy, you know, doing something that's going to leave an impact and an everlasting memory in not only my life, but my kids' life.
9:06That's where, you know, I get the most joy from.
9:09Tony Yayo:Rob Markman Right. Cause it's like you're a young guy with an old soul. Like, cause what you do in North Omaha? You be fishing? I know you wrestling. I fish all over. Rob Markman What you do? Give me a day in the life for you, man. I be chilling. The kids. You know, either I'm taking them somewhere, picking them up somewhere, you know, at the house playing a game with them, cooking, you know, riding the four wheelers, going in the gym, playing basketball, going to my mom's house, going to chill, going to the boxing gym and seeing what they got going on there. It's a day in the life. Same thing.
9:42You know what I wanted to ask you, Tim? Did you know you was going to retire, like, before the Canelo fight? Like what you were saying, however this turned out, this is over. For sure. Well, that's how you felt? I already knew it, you know, especially going through, I wanted to retire at 33. Okay. You know, but circumstances didn't line up with, you know, my decision at that age. I went to retire after the Spence fight and then it was like, uh. You felt like I still needed to get more respect on my name, like I still, like, yeah. So I just didn't feel like, you know, I'd done enough yet to retire.
10:20So when I moved up another weight division, it was like, all right, now you a four weight world champion. I was still with that Canelo fight, got the Canelo fight and then it was like, okay. After this, I think, you know, it'd be enough me becoming undisputed would be enough in three weight classes. And you knew you was gonna win? Of course. Rob Markman No doubt at all. It wasn't a little bit of like, damn, this gone. Did you feel like this was going to be the hardest fight for you though? J.R. I actually thought it was going to be the hardest fight. Being the size factor and things like that.
10:57And it's Canelo. He cold. I respect Canelo wholeheartedly. So I'm like, man, this is going to be a tough fight, but I'm going to come out on top because I know he can't handle my style.
11:10Tony Yayo:Rob Markman - But Spence you felt was easy for you? Because I remember you at Shreveport and you told Bertha, it was me, you and him, we was eating dinner or lunch at the F50 event and you showed your knuckles and you was like, you know what I do, you know your knuckles. You know what I do. And you beat the shit out that man. You know what I mean? I remember all that. And I'm like, yo, you felt like he was easy and Canelo was - Rob Markman - Listen, I just felt like Styles make fights. and me and Spence style was a clash course. You know, he was a come straight fighter. I'm a great counter puncher, boxer with power.
11:46So I already knew my style was totally wrong for his style of fighting. And when I told Berto, you know, when we fought, cause Berto was like, man, I fucks with you. I fucks with him. I don't know, man, it's going to be a good fight. And I'm like, Berto. There's a lot of people down on you on that one. I'm like, Birdo, watch what I do. You gonna see.
12:07Tony Yayo:Rob Markman, I remember you showed your knuckles at the table. I was like, man, he gonna fuck that guy up. Rob Markman, I want some good money, man. I bet a lot of people, I bet one of the Jeremiah people's, I said, what? Of course I forgot this, man. I want some good money. So thank you, my brother. I want some good money. Rob Markman, I mean, we seen him with the energy at Bowling flying down the court. He won MVP. This guy can ball, wrestle. He do it all. Rob Markman, you ain't lying. Rob Markman, what did I tell you? I said he's an all around athlete. That's the thing about him. He be in the boxing gym.
12:32Tony Yayo:He be wrestling with the kids. He be fishing. He's like the all around dude. So you lightweight, 2013, 2014, 135. That's one category. Junior weight, 2015 to 2017, 140 pounds. Welterweight, 147, 218 to 2022. And then 2023, 147, welterweight again. These are all the fucking... How do you go up and down with the weight? like how do you i never went i never went up and down i went up oh you know 135 140 147 so how do you how do you do that though how do you sustain like just within time you know when i was at 135 i was really struggling i shouldn't have been at 135 so i really was struggling to make weight so when i went up to 140 it was a real short stay i had to get everything real quick because I knew that five pounds was a short stay.
13:35Then I moved up to 47, then, you know, so forth. And as you get older, your body get more dense. You know, the weight, you can't lose it like you used to lose it when you was younger, and you just fell out more, especially when you're working out. So that's how I was able to keep progressing in the weight classes. You know what I want to do is ask you too, man, being that we got you here really like, what was your mindset too? Because I was watching it the other day, right? When you was fighting Porter and I seen them in the corner, it was like, yo, you losing or something. And they told you like, yo, you might be losing this fight right now.
14:14And then you came out like a fucking enemy. Like real talk, did you really think you was losing at that time though? No. If you watch the fight and I'm like - I don't even think you was losing at the time. I wasn't. Okay, copy. So when I heard that, I looked and I'm like, how? And then, you know what I mean? And then, Bomek like, hey, hey, pay attention, pay attention. I'm like, man, they say I'm down. He like, we gotta go, let's go. You know what I mean? Then I look and I said, he up? He up? Then it was like, they started pointing to him. I'm like, all right, all right, okay. So I took my last little deep breath, like relax, focus, and go out there and handle business.
15:01Tony Yayo:Rob Markman How do you do that though? Like the crowd, as I always say, you know what I'm saying, this is like major fights, the crowd is there, the lights, the camera, the action. What's your mindset coming in the ring? Because I know, I'm like, damn, how the fuck, so much stuff going on, how do you focus on the tasks ahead? Man, I always had the luxury of when chaos is all around me, only thing I'm focused on is the job at hand. I get that from my mom. You know, me and my mom and, you know, our trials and tribulations coming up to where you can't do nothing to knock me off of my game. So when I walk to that ring, I don't care about what nobody else saying.
15:47They can't fight for you. I don't care what they chanting. I don't hear them. I'm focused on eat, kill or be killed. That's exactly what it is. So I'm locked in and nothing that nobody can do can take me off of the person that's in front of me. Rob Markman - That's crazy.
16:09Tony Yayo:Yeah, because I seen something with you and your mom in North Omaha, and she was saying something like she'll make you fight some people sometimes like that. You got shot before too, right? Yeah. But it wasn't, it wasn't nothing like she'd make me fight. We had the gloves on. Right. You know, and she basically like, if you can, if you can whoop them, I'll give you five dollars. You know, that was the thing. Like I'm not about to lose in front of my mama. Got you. Got you. You going to beat my ass. Then I'm going to go in the house. She going to be laughing, and give you the little$5 and then she gonna beat my ass.
16:46That's something that a lot of people didn't know. She gonna beat my ass. Why is she out there? Then, you know, I didn't got my ass whooped in front of her. Now she whooping my ass for getting my ass whooped in my own yard with my own gloves. That's how Mama Love was looking. And making her lose money. If you lost a fight, Mama Love was gonna whip your ass. Oh yeah, don't. Of course, I seen it.
17:07Tony Yayo:She was like, yo, you can whip him. I seen that when she was talking about that. That was definitely some good footage. We lose in front of your mama at all. That's gangsta. That's gangsta. So I know you invested in the boxing gym with the kids. Talk about that. Cause you do a lot of giving back. Like you said, you have, I know you like over a hundred million dollars. I know you got that. Talk about giving back. Cause I'm saying just gave 700 ,000 to Africa. You know what I mean? Talk about the giving back. So we got a nonprofit organization, me and my coach, BOMAC. Shout out to BOMAC. B &B Boxing, well B &B Sports Academy.
17:47And it's a non-profit organization. It got boxing, it got wrestling, it got tutoring, things like that for the kids to come. It's free for the younger kids. The kids 18 and older, I think it's like$35 every month for them to come and train and boxing. They go on trips and they do little fights around. I got a girl, national champ, three-time national champion.
18:20Like it's beautiful for them to come to a facility that's a safe environment, that's in the neighborhood, like in the hood of North Omaha, that's keeping them out of trouble. Definitely, that's dope. And Hood love him. Of course, that's why I know that's dope, man. Cause they learn it from him. I'm learning finances. Nah, facts.
18:41Tony Yayo:When we meet these rich guys with 50, they'll have like an Apple Watch or no jewelry. I feel like that, he feels he's like the same as them, bro. The material thing is like out the window. It's more of what I'm doing for the community, what I'm doing with my kids, traveling. That's more of what he likes. Rob Markman - That stuff don't mean nothing for you at the end of the day. It may make you feel like you this type of person or that person. and make you feel good when you wake up in the morning to put on your jewelry and your clothes and whatnot. But at the end of the day, you still the same person.
19:16Tony Yayo:Rob Markman - You hear that these rappers? Y 'all hear that, right? Because y 'all always want to say, where's his chain? Or what does he have? Rob Markman - I seen the clip of yours go viral on Ryan Clark's show, when you told homie no amount of money can make you come back. And he was like, you sure? Nah, you a doody. Now I know what type of person you are. Rob Markman - Yeah, he said he sold a soul for what was it, 10 million? Rob Markman, So it's really no amount of money making you come back at all, right? Rob Markman, Nah. Rob Markman, We know that already. Rob Markman, Do you see any fighters though?
19:42Because I seen you was a little going back and forth with boots, right? Rob Markman, Yeah, that was entertaining. Rob Markman, Just the competitive in you. Like, don't nobody make you want to come back? Oh, you talking crazy. Oh, so you think it can't happen. You don't get that urge sometimes when you hear people talking a certain way? Like shit like that? Rob Markman, Nah. Rob Markman, I used to, but now I'm sorry. Rob Markman, I'm sorry. because knowing a fighter, oh, this nigga talking too much. Now I'm about to show him. That's just a fighter. You know what I mean? Because if you look at the history of my career, I always was, you know, moving like that.
20:17Like, man, I always had to feel like I had to prove a point. I fought like I had to prove a point. When somebody, you know, poked a bear, I felt like I got to bite him. Got you. You know, and that was one of my downfalls because I fought like it. When I get hit with a big shot, it's like, oh, now we fighting. You forget about the whole technique shit. Yeah, it's like, now we fighting. You ain't got me fucked up. But, you know, in life, like you got to be able to control your emotions, you know, at all times. And I felt like that was something that ever since I was a kid, I wasn't able to have a hold of because I always just get mad and be like, I want to do something to you.
21:06You know what I mean?
Read the full transcript
21:10Tony Yayo:How old was you when you got shot though? Like 21, 21. What happened? Shit just shooting dice and... You shoot dice, motherfucker?
21:26Just with the homies, you know what I mean? That shit big nigga, shit. Shooting dice, about to leave and you know, some niggas pulled up shooting. I got hit in the car, about to pull off.
21:39Tony Yayo:Who you got hit at? Arm or something? Nah, I got hit no where. You know where I got hit at. You know where you got hit at, arms. You can bite on the arm after that. I got hit in the back of the head though. Oh, for real? Yeah. Damn, nigga. Was you boxing at this time? That you got shot? I was supposed to fight in two weeks too. Wow. So I shouldn't have been out there in no way. Got you. You know what I mean? That was God like, slap me upside my head. Like you knew better. Yeah. Definitely. It changed my life though. Cause you know, I started seeing what God had in store for me. Like, man, you got another chance.
22:14Better make the best out of it. You know? So yeah, once I stopped hanging out with certain individuals and putting my time into my craft and having a son and things like that, that's just 360. Man, I got something to live for now. And I got another opportunity, you know, to do what I'm destined to do. So, you know, I think that was a good wake up call. Got you, got you.
22:43Tony Yayo:We glad you here, man. Definitely. Hall of Famer, you know, we appreciate what you do for the culture of boxing. Back to the boots thing, because I know on Twitter, you said something about his style, like he would never get close to me like that. What did you mean? Like what? What you mean? It was something on Twitter, like you said something and Boots said something like, well he's retired, but you said something about like his style of fighting. I think a lot of people always, like that's one thing that they always - Cause it went viral. Everybody wanted, Boots and Bud, we want to see that.
23:17Boots and Bud, like I feel like Boots, a whole motion is built off of terrence crawford he should thank me to be honest you know because if there was no terrence crawford at this pinnacle who would they be talking about who would they be comparing them with you know i remember when he was a couple of fights in and people were saying, hey man, it's this little kid. When he was an amateur in the Olympic trials, it was like, man, this dude fight like you, bud. This dude fight like you. When he was pro, this dude remind me of you, bud. So I just feel like I'ma let him have his air and wish him the best.
24:10But how's somebody like, y 'all don't even get cool, like eventually he looking like a little you and you like, oh. I feel like he's a hater. If I'm gonna be a 1000%. It's the real report show, it's all good. That's what we do in the picture. Yes sir. I think he a hater. You know, like a lot of people say, oh man, Bud always hating. Like what I had to hate on him for. You know, I didn't support him in Olympic trials. I didn't been in the locker room at his fights, you know, supporting him. So why would I need to hate on him? Got you. You know, like I said, I want to see him win. I want to see him go far as far as he can.
24:54But I think people do the same thing with Boos as they did with Spence.
25:01Tony Yayo:Right. You know, and it's our people, it's the urban community that does it. Oh, Boos this, Boos knock you out, Boos. And then, you know, the people that, you know, support me they man but it is but then some fighters fight a self getting caught up in that you know and then they asked about it oh man he easy work i ain't easy working
25:31that's just you know disrespectful you know like you just head over your yeah the height you know I don't look at no fighter as easy work that's a professional on that level I don't care who you is like I gotta prepare for you you know to a certain extent that you know you could possibly threaten to beat me or you wouldn't be in this position so for him to say I'm easy work is just like man you're disrespectful boy

You know Shakur is his guy. Javonte and Shakur. Say it. Go ahead. I want to know what the champ thinks. That's definitely number one. Okay. Told you. Shakur, Shakur is a beast. And Shakur and Devin, Keyshawn Devin.
29:11I actually want to see better be of Bivar again. They had two massive fights. They split one and one. Okay. I want to see Bam and Inouye.
29:28I think them like the big fights right now I actually want to see Tyson Fury and Joshua that's been a fight that's been that post that happened for so long definitely right now in their careers I think that'd be a good fight for both of them you know so I think them the big big fights I want to see Devin and Ryan again I was about to say I see that. For sure.
29:57Tony Yayo:You ever think about getting fighters? Or no, you just want to out the business, relax. You different. And I'm relaxing right now. I don't even know that right now. You know what it is about you? Like Nas said, people fear what they don't understand. Hey, what they can't come from. Yeah, definitely. Guess it's just a theory of being. Fear you. You had that second line. But they don't understand them. That's my story right there. You know, cause once I get my hundred mil, man, I'm gonna be different, man. You gonna be on the check. But that's why they want you to flash. They want to see the jury.
30:23They want to see you rocking what they will rock. That's why everybody always have an opinion. You know, because if you getting money and everybody say you getting money, why I can't see it? Why you not showing it? Man, they lying. They try to entice you. Like, where your jewelry? Where your cars? Where the clothes at? You know. You like them before you know it. Now you playing into their game and doing all that shit.
30:49Tony Yayo:Then when you're around a real rich, you know how it is, man. They don't have, we was Italy somewhere, I said murder, don't wear your chains. It's different. Tillman is there. Scott owns Houston Rockets or teams. DJ Rumpa's there. No jewelry. Apple watch. Rob Markman, Yeah. They spend money on watches. Yeah, watches they got. Rob Markman, Yeah, they like they spend some money on watches. You better believe me. Rob Markman, They spend they money on the watch. Rob Markman, He had an Apple watch on there. Rob Markman, He did though. Tell him he didn't have an Apple watch on there. Rob Markman, Wasn't no Richard Milley on his wrist.
31:16It was an Apple watch. Rob Markman, Then, then, then, but you put them in a suit. They got the collections, yeah. Put them in a suit. They got the collections. And then look at his watch.
31:24Tony Yayo:Definitely. And everybody's mad at him. The car dealerships mad at him. The jewelers are mad at him. Designer stores are mad at him. Like, y 'all, it's pretty bad. Sort of like Eminem. That's why when you, you brought him out one time, didn't you? Definitely, yeah. Yeah, I remember when you brought him out, I was like, oh, these are both the same guy. I never seen Eminem buy anything. Yeah. Like I probably seen one Rolex, probably 50 Rosenberg, Paul Rosenberg bought it for him. but I never seen it with anything, like comics in the big mansion. You don't need all that stuff. You know what I mean?
31:54Once you realize that that stuff don't mean nothing to you, it's just an experience, you be like, man, what I need this stuff for. You know, all they're doing is drawing unnecessary attention. You know, you got all these chains on, you walking around, now you got to, you know. Shut the fuck up. He ain't talking about me. Shut the fuck up. He got to be on defense. Damn, he got to be on defense. When you walk around the streets of New York, if you're not with a group of individuals, with your chain, do you be like, man, damn, man, I got to walk through this. I'm kind of relaxed. It depends on who you are as a person.
32:42You be relaxed, like I'm good, I'm cool. Rob Markman - Because you like man, people respect me and people know I'm right. Rob Markman - Yeah, so I'm not worried about shit like that. Rob Markman - But you still got to be on point, don't get it. Rob Markman - You still got to be on point. Rob Markman - It's still a risk, it's a high risk. Rob Markman - This is how I'm looking at it right now. Rob Markman - Yes, of course.
32:57Tony Yayo:Rob Markman - You know what got me bugging, Chimp, is that murder got on three chains and you got a quartz chain on. You have a half a billion. Rob Markman - Come on. Rob Markman - Niziel Ma, but he has a quartz chain on. Show them the jewelry. Show them the court shame, man. Man, listen, man. That's a sentimental piece of my brother. Nah, rich dudes, they don't buy nothing. Rich dudes, they'll get it for free or they just want the watch, the watches and stuff like that. They not buying nothing. I told you how surprised he had a Louis shirt on.
33:29Surprise. That's the champ. That's how he move, man. That's how he move.
33:33Tony Yayo:You know, I got to ask you, who's your top five dead or alive boxers of all time? I like that one, yeah. I like that. I like that. Like, okay. But when we talk about top five is - I give you top 10. Top five. A little while ago, so it's all good. He said, y 'all didn't know Egypt was in Africa. No, we didn't. We didn't. I just thought Egypt was Egypt. But hold on, back to my top five. Mike Tyson, Muhammad Ali, Mayweather, you of course, and what did I put there? Yeah. George Foreman. For real? George Foreman wasn't nice to you? Wasn't like, wasn't he? George Foreman was nice. Or Henry Armstrong, over Joe Louis.
34:21Tony Yayo:I mean, you know more boxing than me. I'm just. Now me, I would have had to go Mike Tyson, Muhammad Ali, Terrence Crawford, Mayweather, and just growing up how it was with me, Sugar Ray Linnock. That was, that was me. That's a nice life. I was really loved. That's my top. Yeah, Sugar Ray was my guy. He was tough. People always thought he couldn't pull it out, but he was tough. Sugar Ray was tough. Yeah. Now, you know, I remember you said you don't want your son to box and you don't want him to play football. What's the hardest time you've been punched? Like, what fight you feel like? Like, yeah, what was your hardest fight?
35:00Gamboa.
35:00Tony Yayo:Gamboa? Word? Yeah. He hit hard like that? Man, when he just caught me. being cocky. Boom. My leg got stiff. I got the, dragging it. Come here, let me hold you. Now we going back to wrestling. Look at that. You know what I mean? Come here, let me grab you up real quick. Gather my thoughts. You know what I mean? That's the only time I ever been hurt that bad in a fight. Damn, I would think Canelo hit the hardest. Nah, I'm just saying. He wasn't able to hit me with a clean shot like Gamboa did. Like Gamboa like really like rattled me. And that had a lot to do with the weight too. Losing all that weight and you know, not being able to get all the fluids back in my brain and things like that.
35:49So when he called me, it was like,
35:55bam, come here. Let me gather myself, now that I'm mad. Now, you know what happened after that. I saw something with Bradley too, saying like you kind of started with him, and he kinda took you in early, I think you and him were sparring. He kinda said like, damn, you was up and coming, and he was kinda already out there. He said, y 'all was sparring. He said, you kinda put the beats on him. They put a call in like, yo man, this Crawford kid is the truth. But they said you was hard to work with at the time, I guess, that was the word that he was saying. Speak a little bit about that. Nah, so me and Taren Bradley, we had the same promoter and the same manager so my coach called me up one day and said hey do you want to go spar Tim Bradley I'm not fighting at all right now so I'm definitely you know I need the money cause shit man I'm in the streets and oh it was a money play okay got you okay and I'm training got you so I'm always in the gym so I'm like shit man let's go so he like man And is Terrence big enough because Bradley sent a sparring partner's home, like he breaking ribs and he really beating these dudes up.
37:10And Bowden like, man, if he whooped Terrence's ass, then you can send him home if he can't handle it. So, but I assure you that he can handle it. So he like, all right, like my manager didn't want me to go out there. Your manager didn't want you to go? No, he didn't want me to go. because he thought that Bradley, Bradley was fighting at 140, I was fighting at 135. So he was just like, I wasn't big enough. I wasn't strong enough and blah, blah, blah. So I go out there, first day we spar, you know, boom, boom, boom, I dropped him, you know, and - You dropped him, I didn't hear that part. We going back and forth and he like, man, who the fuck up?
37:54He like, man, who the fuck is you? And I'm like, what? Like, I'm sitting to him talking, and we just sitting on the ring. He like, no, dog. Like, who the fuck is you? Like, where you come from? I'm like, Omaha, like Nebraska. He like, dog, you ain't no fucking sparring partner. And I'm like, I'm sitting there like, what? Like, fuck you mean by that? He's like, you a fucking world champion. Like, no blinking, look me dead in my eyes and was like, you're a fucking world champion. What is you doing? What is they doing with you? What is you doing? What's going on? And I'm like, shit, man. Don't nobody want to fight me.
38:37I said, I can't get no fights. I'm just sitting. He like, what? He like, hold the fuck up. You know, who? Cameron? He was like, hold up. So, get my phone. So, he called Cameron. He was just like, hey, Cameron. What you doing with this kid? And he was like, ah, man, why? What's up? Don't tell me you're sending him home to him. He was like, fuck no. He was like, this motherfucker just kicked my ass. Like, you know, if you're not doing nothing with him, let me buy his contract. Then you see a whole totally different tone. And he's like, ah, nah, nah, nah. He just, don't nobody want to fight him. It's hard to get a fight.
39:18We're going to do something with him. And Tim like, what shit? yeah, well, y 'all need to hurry up because you don't know what you got on your hands. And he like, yeah, I know he's a talented fighter. He was like, no, this motherfucker's a world champion. You don't even know it. So after I left training camp with Tim, that's when I got the opportunity to fight Bretis Prescott in short notice. What year was that? In 2012.
39:46Tony Yayo:That was like one of your biggest fights, first fights? On HBO. Put the world on notice right quick. Definitely. 42 and 0, man. Definitely. That was dope right there. So Bradley did a good thing, man. Shout out to him for that. That was dope. For real facts. That was dope, man. That was dope, man. That was crazy. Humble beginnings, man. He's still humble. Facts. But now he has billions. Get his shot, bro. Billions. He know he got about 500. Come on, man. He got about 500. Damn. Tucked up. He keep going up and up. He keep going up and up. You hear this nigga, right? You hear this nigga, right? You had clothes that I don't ever wear unless I go out of town.
40:25Tony Yayo:Was you excited when you got your ESPY? Yeah, it was cool. I was excited. It was cool, best fighter in the world. Cool. It was cool because I got all the awards out the door. You know, fighter of the year, ring fighter of the year, the ESPY, you know, I won all the awards. there is the way. Not too many people go out on top, pause like that. Like you really did it and went out the right way. Yeah. Like, and that don't really happen. That's why I said, you know, everything was great. I don't think there will be another fighter to go out like I went out. Like that, facts. You know, undisputed on top.
41:12And you want to do no exhibition shit or none of that neither, right? Nah, of course. The exhibition fights, like how we post to see, for instance, Mayweather versus Tyson. and crazy shit like that, right? Who's not doing that? You never know though. I'm about to say like, look, calm down, look, calm down, brother. My brother might do an exhibition fight. My boy is fishing and traveling the world, bro. He's different. I definitely do that. But do you look at an exhibition fight as a real fight or those - No, it's entertainment. Okay, copy. If you look back, you know, Muhammad Ali, he did exhibitions.
41:41Oh, okay. You know, Floyd, Tyson, like fighters do exhibitions, like, because the fans still want to see a part of it. A little something got you. You know, they want to have, you know, that moment. And then the younger fighters that was too young to, you know, take notice and follow your career. They just want to, they don't care what it is. They just want to see you in the ring because that's what you're known for. And then the people that was following you, that grew with you, you know, they just want to see you back in the ring. See a glimpse of the old fighter that they once fell in love with.
42:19So you might do it.
42:19Tony Yayo:I don't see him doing it because right now, like, the YouTube fight is popular. What you feel about that? Like, you got baddies fighting Big Lex and Tzatziki and Ray J's on the card with Orlando. You got Jake Paul and you got Blueface. No, no, no, no. You got DDG. How do you feel about these YouTube fighters? Jake Paul is on a different level than those people that you just named. You cannot, I repeat, you cannot put Jake Paul in the same category as those YouTubers. Got you. Because Jake Paul is considered a real fighter right now. Okay. Like he just fought Anthony Joshua. He got knocked out.
42:57So you got - It doesn't matter. He got - I feel you. Would you get in there? Who? With Jake Paul? No, no, no. Who? With Jake Paul or Anthony Joshua. You're not getting in there with either one of them. If the money's right. If the money's right. I was just saying. If the money's right. You gonna go in there and try to win? Or is you gonna be like, man, this dude hit me, it's just gonna be over. Yeah, you ain't going to. I'll fire fight Jake. He ain't going out there. No, we talking about Anthony Joshua so he can break your jaw.
43:21Tony Yayo:He'll kill me. Exactly. Jake Paul will kill me too, man. You know what I mean? He really dedicated his life to perfecting his boxing career. And over the years, we've seen him get better and better. you know that's why I respect Jake so much I'll put some respect on his name after he got the name of Andy Joshua no he just got to because you see him putting the work in you know he's not doing all the extra stuff outside of you know boxing you don't see him doing the little YouTube stuff no more he's boxing he's training like really trying to be a world champion so you gotta respect that we put him on another level what about the other YouTube fights What you put about that?
44:06I ain't seen none of it. You know, I know Big Leg's about to fight Tashiki.
44:12Tony Yayo:Yeah, I watched that. That's like, it'd be good. Good one. And Ray J's on the car with Orlando, so you know that's gonna be the crackdown. Oh my God. Orlando from Orlando? Orlando? The crazy kid. I don't even know. They really about to fight no ass time? Yeah, Ray J's back on it. You slapping him on me. I know, I know. It's entertainment. Oh man. You know what? You guys gotta fight more so we can have more entertainment. You think everybody's scared to fight Shakur? Yes. Why? Cause he great. He hit hard, right? It ain't that he hit hard, it's just that - He's hard to hit. And I think people don't like that.
44:45Yeah, they don't like that. They don't like that. He mastered the martial arts of hitting not get hit. If you master something in a sport that's one-on-one, And only a select few people is going to be crazy enough to be like, man, I want to fight him. I want to test him out. You know, just say if you master, you know, wrestling.
45:13Tony Yayo:Right. You know, and you is one of the coldest wrestlers ever. You know, it's going to be people that be like, ah. They're going to go in there like they used to go in there with Tyson. Like, man, I can't beat this dude. Like, man. They already lost in they mind. You know what I mean? And it's going to be some dudes like, man, he going to have to beat me. he's going to have to show me. Like, I'm just as good as him. You know, and I think that's what it comes down to with boxing. Like, people are scared to lose, and he's not scared to lose. You know, he's putting his talent and his craft on the line every time.
45:45Like, hey, show me that you can beat me. And the people that know that it's going to be a tough time, they're like, I don't even know if I want to go through that, you know, because I want to keep my O. I think that's what it come down to. But it's something with him and Devin Hayden, they're going back and forth right now, I think. Correct? They're supposed to be fighting. I feel like somebody like you would have made it happen at this point already. Meaning, you know what, fuck it, we're going to figure out. We're going to meet in the middle at the weight class. Because I know that's the fight everybody want to see.
46:19Fuck all this going back and forth. Let's meet in the middle and let's just make this shit happen. It's different in Shakur's situation because he just moved up to 140. Okay. He doesn't have two fights at 140. He had one fight and you telling him to move up again. Got you. You know, he's not a big dude. Okay, got you. You know, Shakur is little. That's like, you know, them telling me, oh, you need to go fight Benavidez. Like, dude, I had one fight at 154. I had one fight at 68 when I jumped up two ways. Five is cool. When we talking about top five, like... You mean weight classes? You about to say that?
47:00No, is we talking about like overall inside and outside the ring, or is we just talking about like boxing? Just the ring, because we know a lot of boxers made a fucked up, make bad decisions outside of the ring. Just the ring, just fighting, just the ring.
47:19I gotta put Ali up there. Facts. I gotta put... Sugar Ray Robinson. I got to put Roy Jones in his prime. Definitely got to put Floyd Mayweather. You can put yourself in there too champ because you can't deny what you did. I can't put myself in. Okay. Okay. All right. And I'll probably put Joe Lewis. That's my five right there.
47:51What's your five? Yeah, I would like to know.
47:54Tony Yayo:Mike Tyson is, I mean, Muhammad Ali will be on there. Mike Tyson. You had to put Tyson on there because you're from New York. Yeah, Tyson. Brooklyn. Brooklyn. Let's go, baby. Is Brownsville in Brooklyn? Yes, man. Okay. Brownsville is in Brooklyn. See how I know? I just asked. We just put you on. Yes, champ. It's all good because we didn't know, hold up, just because he like, people going to look like, damn, how the champ, how he ain't know Brownsville was in Brooklyn, right? We didn't know Egypt was in Africa. I about to say, we ain't know Egypt was in Africa too. He just put us on there. He's turning five.
48:23He's not spending nothing. 100, 200, 500, a billion. He's not spending nothing.
48:28Tony Yayo:Look at this chain, Murda. Look at your chains. I mean, it's all good, man. That's how you do it. I'm about to get a quartz. When you get that? That's how it be sometimes. I'm about to follow your financial advice, brother. I got this from Tanzania. But you know, see, I still make investments though. I still make my Bitcoin investments and stocks. I still do things. I do this. This is all good. I do this for sure, but you know that, yeah? I'm still investing in my Bitcoin. I'm still investing in all that, man. I'm getting the course change better for him. Nah, you can get one of those. I like it.
48:56That's good for the champ.
48:57Tony Yayo:I told you, I'm surprised he got a Louis shirt on. I've never seen that. I don't ever be getting dressed. I got a closet full of new classes, but now I got to go up and fight the monster. Come on, man. What y 'all doing here? Definitely. I see what y 'all trying to do, but Shakur can easily make 135. like he went up to 140 for the opportunity you know and Devin's a nice size 147 you know and Devin gonna be hard to be too like ain't nobody just going in there like no like those two those two fighters right there they gonna you know make each other great and it's gonna be a tough fight for both of them you know and throw Keyshawn in there and it's gonna be hell as well.
49:48You know, throw Tank in there is going to be hell as well. So, those guys right there is holding the keys to the 135 and 140. I even say Ryan Garcia too. I like him. Ryan Garcia. I know he had the drug problems though, so it's a little, that's the stain right there. Ryan Garcia ain't going to meet them guys. Okay, got you. You know, of course, him and Devin, he had they number, you know, with all the antics and stuff that went in in the fight, what they went in. What'd you think Devin was slipping because of all the antics? I just think Devin wasn't as focused because Ryan caught him sleeping.
50:28You know, if you watch the fight, he got hurt early and he was trying to get back. But, you know, credit to Ryan. He ain't letting that boy get back. You know what I mean? So, you know, that's what it mainly streamed on. like hitting him with the same punch. Like, nah, I know what got you the first time. So I just think that was a big part of that fight is him getting hurt so early and not being able to recover. And then when he did recover a little bit, he get cracked again. It's like, boom. Put him back in that space. Back in that space. Yeah, got you. Got you. But you seen his heart though.
51:09Because when he got dropped, he came. He ain't want to stop. He ain't want to stop. He got dropped, come right back. You know what I mean? And a lot of fighters, a lot of people, they'll talk stuff and say, oh, Devin, it's like, but man, you see the heart that boy showed. Right. Man, he bit down and like, man, come here, let's fight. You know, hey, that boy showed heart and guts. And you can't teach that. You can't teach that. So he's tested and, you know, a lot of other fighters that you see, they're going to have to show them that they can beat them.
51:45Tony Yayo:Got you. Got you. What's some good advice you would give some up-and-coming boxers? I tell them, you know, stay disciplined, stay dedicated, stay focused. Because, like, a lot of fighters, they get off their rocker when they start getting a little money. And, you know, they get a little money, then they start buying clothes and buying the cars. And got the girls, the women. Yeah, living a different lifestyle than they once was living before they was on the grind. And they ain't even scratched the surface yet. You know, they just, you know, hood rich. Got$100 ,000 and now they thinking that they rich, rich, rich.
52:29And they tend to lose focus on the mission. You always got to have that mission in your sight, like, all right, this is where I'm headed. All this shit going to be there when I get done. But I'm going right here, right now. I'm sacrificing now so after boxing, I can be straight or become a world champion or make the most money that I possibly can in the sport of boxing. and you start seeing people drinking, partying, and going out and hanging out with rappers when they get a little name. And they just start doing things that they never once was doing before. And then you start seeing them lose.
53:13And then it's like, damn man, that dude was talented. Why you started losing? It's because his focus got altered by everything around him. And not to throw no say like that, I think we watching it in the real time. You think my brother AB could come back? Cause he got caught up in all of that. Gadeon Broen. I feel like he got caught up in exactly what you just said, right? And now I see him like trying to make the comeback and all that shit. You think he can make that comeback? It's gonna be tough. Cause he beat his body up so long. It's gonna be real, real tough. Because now, like what division he coming in?
53:53if he come in at 140, 147, like he got them young killers that's holding the throne right there. You know, he come in at 54, he got them killers right there. So now it's going to be tough. Gotcha. It's going to be like, where can you fit in at to become another world champion? Right. It's like, I don't see him becoming a world champion at 154. or I don't see him at 147, I think that would be the idea of weight, 147. But if he could, I wish him the best. I'm cool with AB, but me just speaking them real terms, it's going to be real hard. It's going to be hard. I think he know that too. He know that shit too.
54:43He know that.
54:44Tony Yayo:When you in training, there's no sex for real though? Is that real? I fuck all the time. That shit's so bullshit. I thought everybody had no sex though. But it's different for different people. So you said some people do go like that. Some people, all right, copy. But you different. Yeah. I want to be relaxed. I don't want to be all uptight. I thought there was no sex at all. Maybe for them niggas, not for me. Not for me, heard you champ, heard you. Heard you. Nah, he stay focused man. Nah, that's dope man, that's dope. Stay focused man, gotta give it up to him man. Stay focused. So what's next up for the champ man?
55:28Life after boxing, what's next man? I told you man, I'm chilling man. Just chilling.
55:33Tony Yayo:He chilling, he fishing, traveling the world. He just went to Africa and Egypt and all that. Egypt and Africa is the same place. I mean, yeah, it's the same place. He figured that out today. He's chilling. Facts, no, facts. ESPN money, something like that. They gonna give him 100 million? We went to a dinner for you. Shout out to 50. I went to a little spot we got in the city. And 50 was like, yo, man, I'm about to go see Bud the champ. He had a little private dinner. He's like, man, in fact, pull up. You need to holler at him to get on the podcast. For sure, Murda, you made it happen. Biggest interview, buddy.
56:07You know what I'm saying? We pulled up and we made this shit happen. Who would you love to see Clarissa?
56:12Tony Yayo:She'll fight because I knew you got a good relationship with her. Mom and Ali do it though? No. No. That fight is too outdated. That fight is too outdated. Leave Layla alone. Layla paved the way for Clarissa to become who she is today. You know, you got to pay homage to those athletes and fighters that work, you know, tremendously hard to make a name for women, the sport of women boxing. You know, like you can't like Christina Martin. You can't you can't discredit them for fighting in the time and the air. Just like there's going to be another Clarissa Shields come after Clarissa and women boxing may be way bigger than it is now.
57:07But she going to have to respect what Clarissa Shields did and what Layla Ali did before Clarissa and shit like that. Yeah, because if you think, like back in the day, Layla was the highest paid female boxer. Facts. Right. You know, now Clarissa is the highest paid female boxer, but before Clarissa, it was Amanda Serrano. Serrano. You know, so these women, they making their stamp in the sport of boxing to keep, you know, progressing and putting the widespread on the sport itself. And who do I want to see her fight?
57:48Tony Yayo:I had to ask you that. I mean, listen, man, I'm cool with Mikayla. I want to see them fight. Her and Mikayla, man. Yeah, that'd be a good one. I want to see them fight. Mikayla want that fight. Facts. She want that fight. And every time we talk about boxing or we talk about her and Clarissa, she wants the fight. And I'm like, I want to see it then. I want to see it. I don't think Clarissa ducking the smoke though. I think they got to set that up. She ain't ducking the smoke at all. She ain't ducking no smoke. Facts. Just like Mikayla ain't either. Okay, copy. But I just want to see it. They know each other.
58:23They been around each other. Let's make it happen, boxing world. Let's make it happen.
58:27Tony Yayo:So y 'all know what it is. We got the biggest interview of the year with the champ. Make sure you like, share, and subscribe. And the champ is here. The champ is here.
