- Warren Spector retiring; Tech and 8 director Kohei Ikeda joins Harada’s SNK-owned studio.
Notable examples

- IWGB t-shirt proceeds for legal costs; 31 Rockstar workers fired for “gross misconduct.”

0:37What's up and welcome to Kind of Funny Games Daily for Tuesday, August 18th, 2026. Of course, I'm your host, Tim Geddes. I'm joined today by the Nitro Rifle, Andy Cortez. Good morning, Tim. How you doing? I feel like throwing up on the right end. Wow. I don't know why. Like just like out of nowhere, hit a nausea? I think it was probably like the final medicine that I took without eating. I took way too long to eat. I was like, I got to get something to my bed. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was unfortunate. But on the right hand, I was like, oh, this might happen. This might happen. Yeah, it got really scary.
1:11That's terrifying. Because I haven't had that feeling in, man, close to two decades, maybe? Yeah. Being nauseous in the car. No, just being nauseous, period. Period. To the point of wanting to vomit. like in a really no i guess i guess i got really sick like a couple years ago but anyway that's it's so rare or there it's so rare you know yeah yeah some people that haven't vomited like in their whole lives their whole lives yeah i don't know about that you can look it up yeah it's been it's been a very long time for me once in the last 25 years once just once wow it was a lot of times that one time 21st birthday no it was a food poisoning in japantown ramen 2016 oh wow yeah oh there was no so you weren't having an issue the one time that greg called a um person to your house to go sing for you that was from a different oh okay you know different exit a different exit yeah i'm so sorry through the gift i didn't mean to do this yeah i didn't mean to do this to anybody uh andy a lot of stuff's been happening in video games oh yeah so much stuff that we don't even have it all on the run of show yeah last night something happened what happened the phantom blade zero state of play at 7 p.m et it was lovely yeah i was like i got home and i was like all right you know i'm gonna play some mortal shell and i was like oh my god that's tonight sweet little treat very cool an extended look yeah we've already gotten a lot of this game but now they're just like they're they're treating this thing like it is their their holy grail yeah i mean this one was you know the gameplay deep dive and yeah it's like you know let's show off kind of what the map looks like let's show off different weapons and upgrading and things of that nature yeah in addition to one of the craziest boss fights multiple state of place though right that's not isn't didn't they just do one like last week um wrong it wasn't a state of play though oh was that just a trailer yeah kind of promoting that there was a state of play as well well it was an 11 minute like you know here's a big ass chunk of stuff yeah um but yeah this was a it was a good final like get them pre-orders out yeah donnie in the trailer so in this state of play going pre-order now and you're like i have i want to threaten you yeah yeah um yeah so cool and now he's in a video game boss fight near the end is just absolutely bonkers um the dancing lion boss fight the music the visuals all of it just going nuts and this was i wonder i don't know if this is the first time we've seen it like on ps5 pro because all the other times we've seen is just standard ps5 remember when you played this game a couple years ago yeah some yeah sgf and it's like we all didn't believe it was real yeah and it's like oh and he played it and it's cool to just see the the improvements and just how game development works because it was i mean for as cool as it felt it looked really you know early whenever you know it's like we're trying to keep this game up at 60 frames per second so let's do the dynamic resolution thing it's getting real blurry in some spots yeah because it just can't keep up uh you know it's trying to do as best as possible but um yeah the second time i played it was certainly a lot more impressive because it was that really cool puppet boss fight but i uh yeah i'm jealous for anybody who's going to get to play this at gamescom so you watched the state of play what are the highlights um for me was the very very end where playstation on whatever it happens that play has no limits blah blah blah and then there were some people in my chat being like i'm going to come over here because everybody over there saying like i'm not buying without a disc like i guess the playstation chat was just filled with that no buy yeah no disc no buy but the the highlight for me was the the 12 month console exclusivity very similar to wukong um seen there at the end it's like it was playstation 5 console exclusive also available on pc and then kind of like right below that 12 months of exclusivity or whatever so we'll likely go to xbox after the full year hits yeah maybe switch too maybe you know remember when there were a lot of like what's going on with wukong and then you know exactly 365 days later yeah it's not gross available on xbox uh i was just super impressed by it the it was really neat seeing the different maps and it not being an open world but you know having very large open zones i feel like open zone has been kind of the one of the big you know every year when mirian webster's like we're gonna add this to the dictionary i feel like open zone has become like one of the big terms it's a thing in the last like year or two and it was super fascinating seeing how they are working doing the map stuff i really enjoyed hearing about what the difficulties are you got your standard story mode for people that just you know want a frictionless experience you got normal difficulty you have like a hard mode and then if you beat the game on either normal or hard you unlock the 66 days mode the whole thing in the story is you're playing a dude who has a disease and you have to try to cure yourself in 66 days before you die you have to find the cure and the 66 days mode is the the sort of like extra hard mode you unlock if you beat the game on normal or hard and anytime you die to a boss you lose a day and it's kind of like that sifu sort of thing where anytime you do die you see the like day counter go and it loses a little tick or whatever which i think is super neat and it seems kind of like that's the most hardcore way to do it can you beat the game within that a lot of time so cool i love that really what difficulty are you playing that are you still a normal guy these days and then like maybe go back for a challenge are you putting yourself on hard um like when it hurts i don't know i mean i think hard would kind of be the standard way to play this like the thing that feels the most similar to what a you know again it's not a soul's like if you call this a soul's like then people will show up at your door you know did you see his name careful soul frame the director's name yeah yeah soul frame yeah fuck yeah fucking yeah yeah when i met him at gdc i was like excuse me it's fucking awesome awesome um the i i wonder if what they're if they will have the further customization stuff because when i played it at gdc that second time this was not this past gdc but the one last year they were talking about you know we want to have different ways to experience the difficulties and they talked about, you know, again, this is not a Souls-like.
8:05Enemies will not respawn whenever you rest at a, you know, checkpoint, bonfire, whatever you want to call it. But they did mention that there might be an option to allow that, to turn that on and have enemies respawn to give you that Souls experience. and if you do a boss fight and if you die in the second phase of the boss fight because the second phase happens and suddenly the normal humanoid man you're fighting turns into a demon hippopotamus or something. In that second phase, if you die, I believe on the normal difficulty, you start back off in the second phase. It doesn't push you back to the beginning.
8:50It's Tim mode. But they did mention, we want to have the option for you to go back to the first phase in that more traditional action RPG Souls-like experience. But I applaud them for saying, we don't want to frustrate anybody. You don't want frustration to be your reason that you dropped off of this experience. We want you to stick with it all the way through. So here's a lot of ways to maybe make that experience less of a pain in the ass. Dude, I'm hype, man. everything about it looks awesome but everything you just said i'm like yeah that's that's what i'm looking for yeah so i hope they pull it off dude october not that far away yeah some of the weapons that they showed off i really just want to i i don't remember exactly where i think if you if kevin fast forwards maybe a minute or two but there's you they end up showing a weapon where it's like these like disc blades like you know kind of they look like rings or whatever oh yeah I think it's like maybe right here, but you're ended up like you're, you swing at a dude and then like a green ghost phase version of you, like kind of pops up later on, like almost like it's a phantom version of you attacking the enemy as well.
10:02And then he ends up throwing all these like ghost green blades at the enemy. Like that move is super sick. Cool. For audio listeners, this is an awful experience. But yeah, fast forward, like maybe 30 more seconds, Kevin, 30 seconds to a minute where you look for green. Yeah, here we go. Yeah. If you see that green, right? Like this weapon looks so badass and I need to use it. Like it's one of those that like, this wasn't even the highlight, the highlight of the video, I would say arguably is the very, very end with the crazy dancing lion stuff. But the weapons being showcased here are all weapons that got me just so juiced.
10:38They said 30 different weapons are in this game. So sick. And you wonder how many of them are, you know, iterations of each other. Maybe that one. You know, I'm thinking of like how to relate this to Tim. What the fuck? I'm thinking of how to relate this to Tim. Like the sort of like, what do they call it? The copy characters in Smash Bros? Echoes. Yeah, the Echoes. Yeah. How many of them are like that? Are they all extremely unique? Who knows? But you do have these like gigantic fist weapons to break enemies armor, go in for the kill. stab him in the skull uh say some really inappropriate things to him here you just have like a rocket launcher on a on a lion's arm it looks awesome how much of the game do you feel is going to be boss fights versus like traversal stuff is the true also kind of just a means and then to get to the boss or is there maybe not platforming but um i like based on what i experienced there will be a decent amount of the traversal stuff because there are secret bosses so it isn't just the boss rush it seems to be more than what when we played like the onimusha demo oh this is the one i was talking about tim the this fuck everything visually here is just the coolest shit you've ever seen in your life but i love when he just starts throwing out all those like green fruit loops at the end of me right here let's check it out right there oh it's so badass um i i got to imagine that it's going to be a bit more than what we experienced when we played like the onimusha demos like even the open beta or whatever it is that they released recently where it's like the traversal and stuff felt just kind of eh it's there but whatever you get to the boss fight and that's the big moment this feels like it's going to be a bit more because they want to surprise you with surprise bosses and you know going down that one extra hallway or maybe knocking down that wall you didn't know was breakable will reveal a cool new encounter so i think it'll be i don't think it'll be like this minimized experience i hope that it's you know a lot of exploration a lot of trying to find the secret things in the game because i love secret bosses i think that's like the coolest shit that any of these souls games or action rpgs can offer it's always a freaking blast hell yeah man this looks freaking sick yeah uh but hey we're not even into the show yet everybody of course this is kind of funny games daily if you're watching live be part of the show by super chatting on youtube.com slash kind of funny games we couldn't do this without our producers on patreon.com slash kind of funny so thank you to carl jacobs omega buster deleting the psalm twining and lax nomad for now let's begin with what is and forever will be the roper report it's time for some news we got five stories today story number one control resident goes gold physical release delayed to october 15th that's my mom's birthday nice uh control since gone gold get ready to unleash dylan fade in pre-natural abilities in warped manhattan on september 24th the physical release date for the game has moved to october 15th we need just a little bit more time to deliver the physical version to you but rest assured nothing stays contained forever very exciting that's a big long it's gonna be a big long game yeah 35 they said yeah 35 ish you hyped on that does that sound right for a control sequel i i worry if it's gonna outstay its welcome that sounds that sounds a little heftier than i that's pretty damn hefty um and i i only feel that way because i am for as awesome of a time that i had with it i don't think like the combat is as deep to warrant that much time you know the the the combat doesn't have like alternating move sets where you're if you do square square triangle does something else then square triangle square like it's always is just like the three hit combo and then you follow up with the secondary moves and it doesn't have like a whole lot of variety the variety in the game is like the amount of shit that you got the amount of weapons and stuff in your arsenal and so that's where the depth comes from so there's like it's a shit ton of weapons and a shit ton of abilities that have kind of limited move sets and I wonder how that's gonna feel over 30-ish hours or whatever but I really enjoyed my time with it it's a stunner visually it's a lot of fun and yeah apparently I saw Simon Carty who's IGN's beginning a lot of IGN first stuff and Carty fought a newer boss that we didn't get to fight at the preview event, and it looked really freaking cool and fascinating, and I'm just, I'm stoked for the Remedy team because we've started to see kind of a bit more, like I think Alan Wake 2 hit 3 million recently sold or something like that.
15:56Either 2 or 3. But it was like enough, enough to where I'm like, oh, thank God. Yeah. That game is starting to get a bit more traction, and maybe that's kind of coinciding with the excitement for Control Resident, but I do think it's worth the amount of times that they have shown it. That was always a thing. Like, are you over-showing this too much? And I feel like every time they showed it, there was always cooler shit to show. And I think it's been to its benefit because it's not like everybody who watches these things has seen every time it gets shown. We do, because we watch most of these presentations and showcases, but I think it has gotten a lot of hype.
16:35and well-deserved type because I think the game should be a pretty special one yeah yeah going gold big deal you know especially right now with how crazy this release schedule is the next couple months like it's it's fun to see the devs you know be able to be proud of their work and stake their claim to a date even more so be like no no no this is happening um you're gonna give this one a shot Tim I here's the thing I think it's a boot up a bull that's for sure and that's my problem it's Like I am every time I've seen it, it's made me so interested that I'm like, I got to go back and play control.
17:07Like I got it. You always talk about this ashtray maze. I need to know. Oh, my God. But then the problem is there has never been more of a gaming moment than the ashtray maze for Tim Geddes. Like one day I'll know. Crazy. One day I'll know. It's just there's so much going on right now where I'm like, I'm looking at the run of games coming up. And I'm just like, there are other games that I know are going to take my time over something like Control Resonance. Yeah. And it's just like, that's just we have to pick. we have to it's like if uh it's like if somebody watched early tim getty's youtube videos and ig and stuff and they said dude imagine that and then now think about this that guy put on a big live show you're like whoa i can't imagine what that is it's like remedy then made like a musical fight sequel and it's just the coolest shit ever man god and that's my thing is i don't want to be spoiled on it i need to earn that you need to you know i don't want to just watch youtube video i don't want someone sending me and the game's so fucking cool and fun yeah like it it's it's so worth the journey to to beat that game it is a and it's not very long it's like maybe 15 hours yeah i like that um yeah it's a very very awesome video game and that's a really good uh i would say that's a really fun like shooter that plays really well on on controller i would say yeah and and the gunplay feels great and you're flying in the sky like and you're doing the you know you're launching back to the ground on the ground pound and you're putting up rocks and you're just a flying jedi with a gun it's the coolest game it's just the coolest game uh el capitan says feels like new remedy ceo trying to double dip we're five weeks away from release date they can't print the disc and ship them to stores in five weeks i've always i i don't think that that's the case i understand that that read and where that comes from i don't think that there's a reality where that is like the swaying factor in delaying a physical release like that it's pretty that would not be cool you know uh to try to incentivize people to double dip i also just think there's something going on with remedy with physical games that has always been an issue i feel like the last couple releases have had something whether they didn't have a physical release at all and that was like a big deal but i think that was alan wick too yeah um or there was some weird delay or like oh it'll come next year or something like that so i don't i don't know what's up with that but i don't think there's anything nefarious going on no um i mean shoot alan wick 2 was a i i think it's still like an epic exclusive like that was published by epic yeah so it's like they it's not the first time that they've done something like this yeah and it stinks but it does and you know it does i i feel you this isn't a recent like yeah i think with the the closeness to the ps5 sony issue debacle it feels kind of related but it's not i think that's just remnant yeah but even then it just sucks that five weeks out it's like for people that are looking forward to this and like i want the physical it's like well you have to wait five more weeks while everyone else is playing and talking about the game like that does sock but hold on everybody yeah these are the the twilight hours of our lives bless uh let's get to story number two here don't boycott grand theft auto 6 says workers fired by rockstar buy a t-shirt to help fund the legal battle instead this comes from conor mccarr at euro gamer the workers fired by rockstar games in an alleged union busting move last autumn have asked people concerned not to boycott the upcoming release instead the workers have asked for supporters to financially support the ongoing legal battle between rockstar games and their union they made it this clear in a new video and social media post from the iwgb union the independent workers union of great britain don't boycott gta 6 fight for justice for the people who made it read the post the union revealed they have created a new t-shirt which people can pre-order now and proceeds from their sale will go towards paying the legal costs of the laid-off rock star developers we spent years pouring our hard work skill and creativity making gta and we want people to experience the universe we help build the developers featured in the iwgb's video said but that doesn't mean we want you to let rockstar off the hook this all began when 31 members of rockstar games were fired last year for gross misconduct all impacted staff were members of the union at the company resulting in an employment tribunal between rockstar and the iwgb in the time since the union has grown in popularity while rockstar itself denies all allegations of union busting
21:35buy a t-shirt
21:41go get that t-shirt do you have anything else to add no do you no
21:51i love you so much i love you just like no like that that is it that is it yeah yeah yeah i mean real talk it is what it is right it's like hey go get them and uh that shit sucks that it happened this way what's the link i want to buy a t-shirt yeah where's the let us know where the t-shirt is yeah put the oh iw i'll look for iwgb iwgb t-shirts you can pre-order now and the proceeds will go to the legal costs all of that it's such a shit all i was thinking of that moment when you asked me i was like i mean you know i got games cast next you don't you talk i've been yapping yep yeah that's how it goes that's how it goes um it's all going to be interesting right like GTA is upon us we're not going to be able to stop talking about this game and the situations around it uh ever again you know what I mean so I feel like we will be talking about this uh lawsuit uh as it goes on and I'm sure that they will make some progress you know yeah thanks to the support of the shirt yeah it is it's one of those where it's like it's hard to even talk about because we there there hasn't been development on it.
23:05It's just like this is essentially just them saying you're not going to help us by not buying the game. So like buy the game if you want. We worked on it. Buy a fucking t-shirt. Rated PG-13. Story number three. Deus Ex creator Warren Spector is retiring from game development. This comes from Chris Scullion at VGC. Acclaimed game designer Warren Spector has announced his retirement from game development. After a number of years creating tabletop RPGs, Spector joined Origin Systems in 1989 and co-produced Ultima VI and Wing Commander. In the decades that followed, he created the Deus Ex series, was creative director of Epic Mickey, and worked on acclaimed titles such as System Shock, Crusader, No Remorse, and Thief, Deadly Shadows.
26:48In a post on his LinkedIn page, Spector stated that while he was proud of his career, he feels that he's accomplished what he started. Quote,
27:23that has influenced beyond what I or anyone else expected. I've run teams as small as a dozen and as big as 800. I've worked for big companies and done startups. I like to think I've helped some insanely talented people along in their careers. That last is the most important. With all that behind me and with age and health, my business catching up with me, I'm feeling like I've done what I set out to do. It's time to write some books, do a lot of reading, do some lecturing, maybe do some consulting. Feel free to get in touch about those last two. Also, there's a keyboard here just waiting for me to get my piano chops back.
27:53In recent years, Spectre's experience of frustration, particularly with his planned System Shock 3 game, which he implied in 2022, had essentially been killed off. His most recent game, the stealth heist adventure Thick as Thieves, was released in May. Weeks later, developer OtherSide confirmed it had laid off the majority of its staff and ended planned post-launch development on the game. Despite his claim that I've done what I set out to do, Spectre added that he wasn't entirely at ease with his decision to retire, and he had at least three ideas for games he wanted to do, but implied that this was no longer feasible with the current state of the game's industry.
28:23I definitely have mixed feelings about this I mean there are three games in particular I'd still like to make One's very big, one's very small And one I don't know how to make, which scares me But the game business has changed And it's not as much fun for me anymore Plus, there's a new generation of developers coming up Who deserve their time in the sun To all of you reading this, I want you to remember That games are not a solved problem yet There is, I hope, plenty of experimentation And innovation to come And to all of you young developers out there I've said it before and I'll say it again your job is to make people forget people like me never existed or ever existed will i come back never say never but i think it's time to ride off into the sunset now stop reading and make great games what a guy that's a sad one man it is man a legend in the industry i i met him at my first e3 i ever went to for epic mickey and he was just such and i was nobody that i was like just a dude that was there like i didn't work at ign had no ties and he treated me as if i was the most important person there like just talking to me i was just hyped to talk about mickey yeah and he was so into it like that was like such a nice welcoming early experience in the industry of like wow a dude whose name i know as a developer right yeah is this damn cool um and yeah you know he's done a lot of cool stuff over the years and unfortunately the last couple years has been you know more controversy not for the you know bad sake but more just like in terms of development and hell and a lot of issues there sad to see it go out that way but yeah i think what sucks the most is like we're gonna you know we saw this with glenn scofield we're gonna continue to see this with people that have been in the industry for a long time that if the industry weren't in the shitty state it was in like it's 100 that the state of the industry is a contributing factor Yeah.
30:13Like if we were in a healthier industry, these people would have five to ten more years under their belts and are ready to rock and they'd be working on the next two to three titles. But I mean, it's it's a lot like it's a lot like an old athlete who like still has some juice, but they look at their team and they're in a rebuild year and they're like, it's not worth it. I'd rather just retire. And that sucks so bad because you know that there's still magic there. There's still, like, art that can be made. And they look at their surroundings and they go, why bother right now? It is a disaster out there.
30:54I mean, it's more than why bother. It's such a risk. It's almost like a guaranteed failure. The stakes are so high. People's livelihoods are at play. Like, we're talking about the thickest thieves and, you know, the entire team just getting shuttered. like as it was coming out we all saw that game and we all looked at that game and what this game needs post-launch support it's the by design what it is and to rip that away it's like all right well yeah like was there any foresight going into this at all for making sure that well there was that there was that late game pivot from multiplayer to single player or sorry pvp to just you know team-based pve or whatever and when that happened it's like that's the smartest decision you could have made but is it too little but all of that is just you know reacting to the industry as opposed to trying to create something yeah because you believe in the vision of it it is you know it's that desperate like move to try to make this work because it's more difficult than ever to make these things work right now so yeah it sucks to be for this to be a bummer because again like it's we are at this crazy point where people are retiring and um it's it's not like this has been the case forever like we are hitting our first real round over the last couple years of this happening and it is just the beginning and a lot of people that we grew up playing the games of that we know their names are slowly going to be even less and less involved in games going forward and yeah there'll be new kids coming up and uh that's awesome but things need to change in order for those projects to be able to to light a day and there's even see the light of day right so yeah hopefully shout out to a legend yeah shout out to a goat like for real war inspector you are the man get a story number four tech and eight game director kohei ikeda has joined harada's snk owned versus studio this comes from chris scullion at vgc the tech and seven and eight director has joined versus studio the new snk owned developer run by former tekken series producer katsuhiro harada harada announced in may that he had formed a new studio with snk following his exit from bandai namco after more than 31 years versus studio is based in tokyo and is led by harada as president ceo also the designer director on the tekken series ever since 1999's tekken tag tournament as chief creative officer it was then announced in june that akeda who was the game director on seven tekken seven and eight was also leaving bandai namco after 20 years of the company now akeda has confirmed that he too has joined harada and yonamori at versus studio meaning three of the tekken series most notable names are now reunited and working together again at the s &k owned developer this is kind of crazy just old dogs it's like this is one of those i don't know that we've seen a situation quite like this one last ride it's like the so many of the core members that have been part of a franchise for so long that they are the dna of it and you know not just any franchise but like a fighting game franchise one of the big ones you know one that has really stood the test of time i'm so interested like there's this isn't a situation of like oh legendary developers kind of go off to do their own thing and best of luck they have all the right backing here with snk like this could be very interesting i and yet i still worry oh of course Of course, of course.
34:23And yet I still worry because I haven't really looked at numbers recently. I don't know how people are feeling about Tokon. I don't know how 2XKO is doing. Yeah, I still worry because we talked about this in the last couple of the games dailies. And almost every week now is like there's always the, you know, the big veterans getting back together. and from all the all-stars making an all-star team. And I think that that instills a lot of confidence in investors to say like, oh, this could be something fascinating. But I think we were kind of in those waters when the Avatar fighting game was created.
35:11And I think that studio just had layoffs, I believe. Yeah. But that was one of those where it's like, former Killer Instinct devs going, you know, and that it's always like, oh, that's a match made in heaven. Of course, this seems like pretty can't miss. So I know I sound like I'm poo-pooing this. No, you're right to think of it that way. I do think there's a difference between Killer Instinct and Tekken, though. Sure, sure. And it being Harada specifically, like such a personality that there's like, I think, built-in marketing to that name in a community that matters that will be looking for playing new experiences.
35:45And that's true in a very different way with like Avatar, having like a brand name obviously brings it or even invincible um for whatever those things are worth or maybe it was invincible i think i was maybe thinking laughs were invincible yeah that's i i think that's what i was talking about yeah but uh yeah i mean it's just again the the snk part of it too like i feel like they have a lot of money for the wrong reasons but um that hopefully can result in some good news with the hopefully we just keep people keep people employed you know yeah like at this point it's like the sources of the money questionable and you go oof i don't love people are employed fuck that's a w and i at this point it's like i want people to be employed and make money and get to feed their families doing the job that they've done their whole lives and have been training to do their whole lives and and it sucks that I'm at that place.
36:47Tough place, man. It's a really, really tough place.
36:54You have a super chat. I'm not going to read it. But, you know, all this stuff. It would be big news if we got a fighting game from Harada and the squad that rivaled Tekken. And if I want to know about something small, where would I look? You'd go to our last story, the Weed News Channel, where we cover all the small news items you need to know about. Order of the Sinking Star will be released on October 8th on Switch 2, PS5, and Windows PC. The Sony Pulse Elevate Wireless Speakers launching November 12th for$220. That's a lot of money. A little more than I expected. That's a lot of money. Yeah.
37:30I did the preview of them, and I was very impressed with them. But, yeah,$220. That's about$70 more than I was expecting. Where was this event? At PlayStation. Was it just you in a room? Me and Blast, yeah. it wasn't one of those situations where there's like seven other pods playing the same like no no it was just just those two yeah we did the we did the fight stick we did the speakers good bass in them yeah solid bass really good uh like soundstage so it's like an imaging so you know where sounds are coming from oh okay and it was like we we were playing um was it saros for a bit and like having the you know it's a desktop setup with the desktop speakers they have built-in rockers so that you can tilt them up towards your ears because that's the biggest problem that people use desktop speakers wrong you need the sound going straight to your ears or else it's just getting muffled right yeah so that's why they need to like have bookshelf like um stands right for for speakers for optimal placements but with these you don't need it because it just tilts up and it's tilted at you not the perfect setup but like pretty clean implementation on these things i was like i haven't seen that before so they're doing something But yeah, it was like very, very impressive playing the game where it's like I could have sworn dialogue was coming from the screen itself.
38:47Oh, shit. But it wasn't. I have these like$30 Amazon speakers for my computer. Hell yeah. They're about this. They're about the size of a fist. Both of them. Yeah. But I feel really cool and special whenever I realized that one of them had been tipped over probably weeks prior. And when I untip it over and put it back and then I spread them apart to be like, you know, stereo. I'm just like, wow. Like, I'm in it, dude. Like, I feel the surround sound. I just feel that stereo. It's really, really cool. Yep, yep, yep. You can experience it November 12th. Game Pass Wave 2 for August 2026. On the 19th, we're getting Vapor World Over the Mind.
39:26The 25th, Blood Dungeon. The 27th, Residence, A Plague Tale Legacy. September 1st, Shell Diver. And on Premium, we're getting BlazBlue Entropy Effect X. Star Sand Island. Relooted. Aerial Knights Dropshot. Hell yeah, that's awesome. And Young Sun. And codes for FromSoftware's The Duskbloods network test Have been sent out Whoa Who got in Who got in everyone There's some pretty big leaks For that shit Everybody be cool Is it good stuff? Bad stuff? I saw like some Like the classes The character classes Or whatever Everybody be cool Don't say anything Be cool man Be cool Don't spoil it for your friends Let's go to your wrong See what we got wrong today I didn't get an invite I didn't get accepted But I I must, you know, blessing did ask, you know, that we might get permission or, you know, acceptance into it.
40:16So it's like, yeah, get me in there. Get him in. Hard to find. This is from yesterday when we were talking about Simpson says it's pronounced Matt Groening. Tim, not Groening. Groening, yeah. Didn't know that. Didn't know that. Learned that now.
40:36Kebabs brings up something that I didn't want to say to you. I didn't want to have to put this on you, Andy, but open zone as a term was invented by Sonic team for Sonic frontiers. Should show respect.
40:50I disagree. You know, that's just because you don't have enough love in your heart. You see tall Sonic and Fortnite real long. He's real long. I love that. It's a different Sonic. Do you? I like that. They're like, no, that freak is different. Yeah. Well, I mean, I appreciate that. Like, you know, at least make sure that I like that the real Sonic could go. He looks weird because he's not me. No, he ain't me. Yeah. He's a, he's a just, he's my Navi. Yeah, exactly. Why does he have shoulder pads though? I don't know. To keep the long arms in there? Probably. I don't like him. I don't like it at all.
41:27Yeah. It's really upsetting to me. Cause it's like, cause he's not wearing a chest plate with the, it's just like these shoulder. How are they on there? I don't know. what are they attached bandicoot looks weird oh he's long too he's got to have long legs yeah and i it's like look it's okay if these characters you got fucking the most unbalanced shit happening in your game anyway who cares if a character isn't the exact same proportions of the other like who cares man people are flying around with goddamn naruto and dragon ball z like doing kamehameha like it doesn't matter lost yeah any sense of it just who cares yeah yeah have just a normal looking dude he's got a waistband too for what i don't like his lumbar or what it's giving little vibrations yeah what the fuck anytime i look at fortnite nothing's ever made me feel more out of touch we're like i watched that trailer the video game whatever the fuck it's called pixel blast or whatever overdrive over yeah overrun rifty bro override i don't know man override whatever the fuck it is i watch it and i can't even make sense of it i can't even understand like if i was holding a controller what am i doing for some of the shots you know what i mean yeah like some of it i'm like okay this is like a it's a battle royale it's a third person shooter look at things and all of a sudden i'm like huh like how how is that gameplay what is going on here like why is sonic long what are these sprites i think some i saw some people say he looks he looks fine he looks fine in 2d when he's in 3d form that's where it's like there's crashes long legs um and i don't know if he pops i don't know when he pops up in this trailer but it's it's mainly just like if he has the shoulder pads i'd rather him have like i don't know like a mechasonic suit or i don't know like it's just weird to just have shoulder pads connected to nothing yeah unless it's down his spine maybe they got like surgically implanted into like like cyberpunk kind of like you know cybernetics or whatever his arms are too thick there yeah there's just too many problems with this man his arms need to long shadow long shadow remember when you called tails a boy yeah he's a little boy i don't know what else to say i don't know man he's a little boy i don't know tails is tails talks like somebody who just got out of elementary school for the day you know what i mean yeah i mean i get what i get it i get it uh let's look at our super chats here christopher says gta leaks are hitting the timeline sir uh it's inevitable everybody be careful at some point gta stuff's gonna start happening it might be now so if you care stay away careful stay vigilant john fix says birthday tax thank you fellas for always being here i'm going to try and buy some pokemon cards while my boys are napping love y 'all nice birthday you have great polls that's who i sold my um my uh freaking ay and thor to yeah because i didn't like the purple one but he was like i'll buy it hell yeah um mike jurado jurado i don't know 20 super chat very very generous right there tim says i stepped away from my job just to say tim you got to use stars in the bank on greg do it for the content one huevos timothy love you guys dude long time first time this doomsday device don't like anything about that anytime greg does any arch and crafts at all i'm concerned I didn't know what it was because I missed that day back.
45:14I have no idea what it is, what's being talked about. Don't really want to know. Don't want to know. But it was really Ben kind of coming up to the desk to tell you, don't make my daddy hurt you. It's just the most unhinged thing. It's just insane. He's not even five. As we were all at our desk, I didn't really know what was happening. But when I finally took my headphones out, I turned to the left, and I saw you holding up the note and Greg sitting there just laughing maniacally on the couch watching it happen on the screen.
45:53Oh, my God. Carl Garcia says, please watch the Orbital's theme song. It's real good. I don't want to do that just because I don't want to get caught up on anything. But I am very excited. I saw that it's out. I haven't listened to it yet. Have you? oh just the song okay no i haven't i haven't yeah i'm so excited that game's in minute too it looks so beautiful close what a pretty game jbc jb cool says my group just beat big walk last night the end sequence is a top 10 gaming moment of all time oh that's so rad will we ever get to play that i hope i don't think so andy i'm gonna be honest with you i don't think so and that really bones me out because i do feel like if we committed and beat the game together that would be such a special moment but i was also thinking we don't that's just a moment whether or not it's a moment for other people we can do it whenever we want we don't have to do it right now it's not like the zeitgeist gives a shit about us but i'm worried that what i'm worried about is blessing and all his oakland friends i know it's a real problem it's a real and him going yeah, after we play volleyball and Dungeons & Dragons and Magic the Gathering, let's do a big one.
47:06Don't do that without us. Don't do it without us. And if you do it without us, there's going to be problems. I'll find you in Oakland. You're over there all the time. What's happening over there? What's happening in Oakland? Why are you there? We're here. We're ours. We're here. I love that you created Unaccount of Four Hours. I know. A lot of people always like assume that it was a Mike thing. And Mike picked up on it really, really well. He loved it. Yeah. It was a Tim thing. Yeah. And it was genuine. It came from a real place of like, not the, you know, insane Mike way of thinking of like wanting to know your every, every moment.
47:40Then when I think about it, I'm like, you know what, Tim? Yeah. It kind of is. There's not much of a difference. Mike in the YouTube chat says, so should I just play it with my Oakland friends? You don't have Oakland friends, but you have a lot happening in Palo Alto. And we got to get to the bottom of who's drawing on this notebook for you. there are questions far and wide and did you watch the end of that gamescast yes it was bewildering what the fuck but that was crazy i woke up in a cold sweat a couple nights ago like was that a dream bewildering moment right there uh obi bong says andy make your own briefcase that's what game showdown needs is more bits yeah you know what i mean more distractions yeah I need to distract myself less.

48:27I need to just try to focus on remembering, you know, some goddamn Crash Bandicoot question. I played the first one. You are so much better at Game Showdown than you think you are. That's what I genuinely believe. Feudy's my game. Because, yeah. Feudy's my game. You know the audience. Get me on Feudy. Get me on there. But all of them, it's like, you know, when first when we watch the Geo Blesser and all these fucking like castles are popping up, I'm like, well, fuck you. You know what I mean? Yeah. How the fuck am I supposed to know what the Witcher Castle looks like? I wish I was on that episode.
49:05I'm like, God damn it, dude. Yeah. There's fucking, you know, there's goddamn Stormvale, Elden Ring. Yeah. Damn. That would have been a good one to have been on. Yeah. Well. We finished the show early. Hey. That's pretty cool. Hey. well i guess we'll get into gamescast early we can get into gamescast early because hey we're going to be talking about mortal shell and you're excited for that i'm so stoked to talk about about mortal shell and also bless can finally talk about toko because when the review it was review time mike was here and he was just like i don't like he's like are we sure we want to do this one yeah yeah he did great of course um but blessing can finally you know the fighting game pop you can talk about it but i'm also yeah super stoked to talk about mortal shell a game that i don't you know i'll say i'll say my takes then but i'll just say like it's a it's a perfect look at what happens when you don't break up a team after the first game maybe isn't the most mind-blowing thing ever.
50:15Your team puts out a six and a half out of ten or a seven out of ten. That's a... That could be a fucking... a death wish nowadays. But you keep that team together and you cook and you work on something new and you try to... How do we make all these things better? Like, hey, they fucking... They did it. They did it. They made an awesome video game. I can't wait to talk all about it. And you're about to hear all about it on the Kinda Funny Games cast coming up right now here on Twitch.tv slash KindaFunnyGames and youtube.com slash kind of funny games. Thank you so much for hanging out with us today.
50:47Until next time, game daily.
