Four stories today. baker's dozen story number one fallout 5 is in pre-production fallout 3 and new vegas are coming and more uh we're gonna start off with just a little headline right here this is from wario 64 bethesda fallout 5 currently in pre-production in development on creation engine 3 fallout 3 and fallout new vegas remasters are in development uh there is so much more to break down but i kind I want you to get the top level.

3:39Tim Gettys:You guys have seen the news. You guys have talked about it all online. Mike, what do you think about this news? Oh, Roger. I have a lot of thoughts on this news. There's a lot to break down. But you know what? I got a phone in my hand. And I thought I'd call up my number one fan. Someone who loves Bethesda games and is excited for the future of Bethesda. Let me get him on the phone real quick.

4:11Snowbike, how are you? My good friend, Greg Miller. It's your boy, Snowbike Mike, here live on a Friday edition of Kind of Funny Games Daily. How are you doing today? I'm doing pretty good. All right, Mike. Here I am at my son's preschool graduation. You're doing great, Ben. You're doing great. But you're telling me, you're telling me that all the haters were wrong. You're telling me, Snowbike Mike, that Greg Miller once again was right. And Starfield continues. Go ahead. Booze. I've seen a lot of shocked faces in the chat this morning. A lot of shocked faces. But it's time you people understood.

4:46More than 17 million players, almost a billion hours. That's the power of Starfield, Mike. You believe it. They didn't think it was going to take it to the stars like that, Greg. Three years. Moving into year three of Starfield. And it's still alive. And then when they're talking, what do we got? New Starborn content next year? That's happening. I see you, Roger. That's a shocked face over there. I got the thing open. I'm looking. And that's the thing about this, all right? I appreciate you, Mike. Roger, you've never done a damn thing for me. Chat, you've never done a damn thing for me. Everybody, you know, who showed up for my Starfield birthday stream?

5:23Very few of you I'll have you know, all right? And so you don't even deserve to share the air with you. Mike, I need to put you on hold. I'm going to conference in Todd Howard. We need a victory. Can we get big Todd in here? Yeah, let's get him in.

5:35Tim Gettys:It's going to be Ben. Big deal right now. Big motion right now. No, he's calling Todd Howard. That's not happening.

5:47We're, of course, awaiting Todd to be joining the call right now with Greg Miller and I. Because, like, he's got motion like that.

5:56Hey, Todd Howard. Greg Miller. Todd Howard, what up, Big Cat? Good to hear your voice. This isn't about you, Mike. Okay, sorry. Hey, Todd. Todd Howard, you motorboating son of a gun, you did it more Starfield content. Can you believe it, sir? I figured that's why you were calling. Am I on the air? Yeah, sorry. You're live. This is Kyle. I'm already saving our recording your conversation. We did it. Can you believe it? We've been working on it, so it's good. And obviously a lot of news coming out today. I'm sure you guys are talking about it. Yeah, I mean, there's some news, but none more important than Starfield.

6:34Also, my son's graduating. He's walking across the stage right now. Good job, Ben. Great job. He's a grumble. Congrats, man. He doesn't understand how big it today is, though. He doesn't understand the Starfield day, Todd. It's across-the-board day. We just thought, hey, you know, in this moment, it'd be good to tell everybody what we've been working on, you know, much of this stuff for many years. and I usually, you know, I like to stay quiet. Hold the bottom of this. Yeah, last time I talked to you about this, you were like, you know, I want to say it. I want to get the game out. I don't want to be talking ahead of time, but here we are.

7:06Well, you know what? I think you see little bits of news and I think it's good to give all of our fans and everybody out there who loves this stuff, like the full context. You know, we're excited about it all and obviously some brand new developments recently also. Yeah, of course. Yeah, I mean, you know, to be serious, of course, Very cool to see Fallout 5 get announced. I love that. You know, I'm excited about that. I think I speak for a lot of Starfield fans when I say, you could probably just stop making the Elder Scrolls and just make more Starfields. I don't know. I mean, I'm never yucking anybody's yumps.

7:37You know what I mean? Mike likes swinging the sword and board out there, right? Yeah, I love Elder Scrolls. Maybe let's keep moving on that production, Todd. You're doing great with the team. Yeah, the Elder Scrolls fans have been a little hungry lately, so we're doing the hard work. Make sure they get fed. And then Obsidian stuff. That's super cool. yeah look awesome they're they're incredible and the chance to work together again um there's such a special group you know when we sort of you know i'm close with fergus and we're close with a lot of people there and and so many ways they're kind of like us right in terms of a core group of people that have made games together for decades go back to black isle the games we've loved so So that's just getting started.

8:23So really, you know, that's part of, I think, the newness of this announcement is really, hey, we're going to be working with Obsidian. We're going to be working with ZeniMax Online as well. So, hey, look, we're super excited about all that. You should be. I'm excited to hear what they have to say about their Fallout project. Yeah, I mean, shit, you called me. Hold on. What? I'm going to actually call Fergus. Oh, you steal my bit. you're gonna call hold on

9:05merging

9:08you're gonna announce it when you merge it I'm merging you're merging you're on the internet you're on kind of funny games daily with Todd Howard, Greg Miller, Mike Howard and Roger Picorni. How are you? I'm Jim. We're good. How are you guys doing? Good. I'm excited to have your phone number now. If you ever get a phone call from me, it means that you're on the air. I will remember that from here on out. Hey, congratulations. This is fucking cool. It is really cool. So now, Todd, before you got on, Todd said you could tell us everything about your Fallout game, so go ahead and tell us everything about your Fallout game.

9:44I'll tell you everything I can tell you. It's a Fallout game. leave that's a waste of quality let's see I think so so there's going to be a vault boy in it you're going to go into vaults and you might you might shoot some mole wraps fair enough I appreciate that I like that a lot does that help yeah that helps that helps good okay today for you fergus uh it's pretty cool i mean it's it's uh you know i started working on fallout uh i think in the way gone years of of 1996 i don't know i the fact that i can't even think back that far is pretty pretty wild um and so you know it's just i it's something kind of near to my heart it's part of my my history uh and just getting to work on a work on a fallout game again it's just amazing oh yeah i'm excited for that you guys do great work over that's gonna be super cool yeah no i mean it's yeah it's uh i mean we have such an amazing group of people making rpgs all you know all different kinds of stuff for so long um i always think back to it and you know i always have so many so many stories about it but like i think it's it's when i when i think about fallout because i'm a gen x guy right and so like bombs dropping and all that kind of stuff and i was always with like tim and leonard i i always i'm always been completely amazed at like how they working with tim and leonard is crazy because like leonard is like this kind of like dark guy who's just angry at the world and then tim is just this happy guy who's always making is always making jokes and i think when you now you look at fall on you think of that i mean that's kind of that's really kind of where the gestation came from is those two guys working together cool i'm glad you're getting a chance to do this i'm glad you're working closer with Bethesda.

11:39Now, you know, I like a lot of times I think of like, you know, Fallout in the game you're probably working on as like the minor leagues. And once you cut your teeth here, Fergus, and really prove yourself, I'd love to see what you could do with Starfield, the trick of the franchise. Okay, what is the obsession with Starfield? And I love Starfield, but what's the obsession with Starfield? That's what the obsession is. Why is that a question? Sorry, I should say, Greg, why is your obsession? That's probably a better question. Fergus, I'll tell you what. I gotta watch my son graduate here. You're gonna get a text message from me that will be a manifesto of watching Starfield.

12:16Congratulations, guys. This is so cool. All right. Thanks, man. Yeah, we're excited. All right. We'll talk to you guys later. Congratulations, everyone. Happy to be the vessel for this. Really enjoying it. All right. Love you guys. Thanks for having us. Super cool. We'll organize this better next time. Thanks, Todd. This is great. This is perfect. What a day. You did great, man. You did great. And congrats to you, Greg. I'm back. Thank you. It is really my day. You know what I mean? And Mike. The Starfield stuff. Of course. To my son graduating preschool, that's pretty cool.

12:47Thanks, Fergus. Thanks, Todd. Thanks, Greg. Greg, thanks, everybody. Bye. Fucking. I'm sorry, Roger. I became a vessel for about five and a half minutes, and I didn't know what to do with my hands. I didn't know what to do. Yeah, Mike just got all uptight.

13:03Tim Gettys:And also, first of all, like, just Greg Miller. Like, come on, man. Like, we had him on the phone. We're talking about Starfield. Yeah. I told Mike to tell Todd something. Very important. We want to let Todd know that we're celebrating the 15-year anniversary of Skyrim. by becoming the first two jabronis ever to beat Skyrim. Ever. No one's ever beaten Skyrim. Todd has confirmed to us that no one's ever beaten it. We're going to beat it. And Mike just became a vessel. You couldn't even. Did you not see? I became a vessel. They spoke for me. Couldn't just at the ending just be like, hey, by the way.

13:35You know what I mean?

13:35Tim Gettys:Couldn't do any of that. What am I supposed to do? So everybody, that's breaking news right there. That might have been the most important phone call I've ever been a part of. Also, by the way, did not know that technology advanced so much in the phone space that you could have a four-way merge call. That is impressive technology. I didn't know what the hell was going on there. I didn't realize you could merge and merge. I felt illegal right there. Well, that was amazing. That was amazing. That was good. Congratulations to everyone involved, of course, Ferguson and Obsidian. This is going to be really exciting to talk about them.

14:03Todd Howard and the team over at Bethesda Game Studios sharing a huge announcement. And, Roger, now is the final time for us to break down the news and talk about it. I mean, that was a really fun call. Yes. But let's get right into it. Let's talk about everything that there is.

14:17Tim Gettys:Absolutely. Let's read the entire note. It's pretty long, so bear with me. I think we're going to break it down, Mike. Is that how you want to do this? Let's go section by section. I want you to read it all to him, and then we're going to go back to the topic section by section. Let's let him know what's going on here. A note from Bethesda Game Studios is from Bethesda.net. We love making these worlds as much as you love playing in them. Today, we want to share what's next for Bethesda Game Studios and what you can expect from us in the years ahead. For 40 years, by the way, crazy, we've built games that have entertained almost half a billion players.

14:51Tim Gettys:More than just games, these are worlds. Worlds for you to explore, shape, and make your own. Worlds we return to together. That's what's driving us forward. We've invested more deeply in the world's players' love, giving creators a bigger role in shaping their experiences and bringing our teams closer together so we can get our games into your hands sooner, support them longer, and continue building them alongside you for decades to come. Starfield continues. With over 17 million players logging almost a billion hours to date, Starfield remains an important part of our future. As we enter year three, we'll continue expanding the settled systems with new stories, targeted gameplay improvements and additional updates while preparing for the launch of new starborne content next year more than 40 of players already customized their experience whoops sorry scroll down experience their experience through creations and will continue investing in creators and giving players new ways to make starfield their own created by players we've believed from the beginning that our worlds belong not only to the people who make them but also to the people who play them.

16:08Tim Gettys:That's why we've long provided players with the tools to create their own experiences, dating back to Morrowind Construction Set. This year marked another major milestone for creations with its expansion to Fallout 4, joining Skyrim and Starfield. We're proud to say creators have already earned more than$10 million in royalties from their work. The future of Fallout. Now, this is the big one, everybody. Fallout is one of our biggest priorities today. Fallout 5 remains our long-range destination, and we have multiple Fallout projects in active development right now. Fallout 76 continues to be home to millions of players exploring Appalachia together.

16:49Tim Gettys:With nearly 70 free updates released to date, the journey is far from over. In fact, we have a major Fallout 76 expansion planned for next year. Raven Rock, a prequel story to Fallout 3. Fallout 4, the most award-winning video game in the franchise, just celebrated its 10th anniversary and recently passed over 35 million copies sold, continuing to attract a new audience every year. We also know many players want to revisit previous Fallout experiences. While we're not announcing any dates today, we have been working on remasters for both Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas. Fallout Shelter continues to be the most popular way to experience Fallout on the go.

17:34Tim Gettys:With more than 250 million players, there's more ahead for Fallout Shelter, including new seasons. An unscripted Fallout Shelter television project is also in the works with our partners at Amazon Studios and Kilter Films. We'd like to congratulate Kilter Films and Amazon Studios on the 10 Emmy nominations for Fallout Season 2. Production on Season 3 is already underway. And while we won't have a traditional Fallout Day broadcast this year, we're already planning something special for Fallout's 30th anniversary in 2027, when Fallout Day will be celebrated live in Washington, D.C. Studio collaboration.

18:11Tim Gettys:The Wasteland continues to expand as we team up once again with our longtime friends at Obsidian Entertainment. We're happy to confirm they're working with us on a new Fallout project. We'll have more details. We'll have more to share in the future. We're also bringing our team closer together across Bethesda. ZeniMax Online Studios will partner closely with Bethesda Game Studios on the Elder Scrolls franchise, while continuing to deliver incredible new experiences for ESO. Season 1, the return of the Thieves Guild, recently launched, and the team has more planned for the future. By aligning more directly across the franchise, we can create even better experiences for players.

18:53Tim Gettys:Bringing our teams closer together is helping us build a stronger foundation for everything we can create next. The Elder Scrolls and beyond. The foundation extends beyond our teams to the technology, tools, and systems that will power the next generation of Bethesda's RPGs. Our teams are now developing The Elder Scrolls 6 and Fallout 5 on Creation Engine 3, a shared technology platform we've been building since Starfield's launch. It allows our team to support multiple projects simultaneously with new tools, rendering, and systems that define our games. Fallout 5 is currently in pre-production.

19:34Tim Gettys:The Elder Scrolls VI is our primary development focus today, with the majority of our team currently working on the next chapter of the franchise. With over 65 million copies, players are still exploring Skyrim 15 years later. But we know it's been a very long wait for the sequel. The next chapter is on its way. We're where we plan to be. Loving how it looks and playing it every day. The road ahead. Across Bethesda Game Studios, we're building the future of Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, and Starfield. We're investing in our technology, bringing teams closer together, supporting our live games, expanding into new forms of entertainment, and developing the next generation of Bethesda's RPGs.

20:19Tim Gettys:we couldn't be more excited for what's ahead and wanted to share as much as we could today we can't thank you enough for what you've what you've given uh to us all and these worlds we can't wait to continue them together signed bethesda game studios that was a lot mike where do you want to start roger that was a lot and of course i want to start we'll take it back up to the top but i want to start with hey this is a really exciting announcement there's a lot of things that we kind of already knew some things that we kind of assumed the road the path of bethesda game studios it's exciting as a player and a fan who loves these certain franchises right also it's really nice to see a lot of transparency come out here from xbox over the past couple of months with this new regime in place of like yeah it's been a lot of down news but it is nice to have the transparency of hey where do we really stand on this of course as of right now this news is awesome and great and it is exciting but in the world that we currently are in with the game industry and just the world at large, this sucks because the world is burning all around us.

21:24We've had 1600 layoffs, five studios spun out. Another 1600 or 1500 assumed layoffs will happen by the end of the year with no timeline for that. So it really does suck of like, this is a double-edged sword. As exciting as this announcement is, the reality of it is All of this sucks around everything that comes into this. And it's hard to celebrate this when at the same time, Obsidian has laid off employees. Zenimax has laid off a number of staff members. Bethesda as a whole and Zenimax, Microsoft and Xbox. It's like this all sucks right now to hear all that and still want to celebrate that. So I just want to get that out of the way early.

22:04Tim Gettys:Absolutely. Especially when you look at this website that Kevin's brought up right here, which is, you know, says a note from Bethesda Game Studios. and right below it, it says, Doom the Dark Ages Revelations, available now from a studio that was completely and utterly gutted, which leaves, I believe, one person on the id side making the software. Yeah, I mean, that one's tough. Hugo came out and he was on the live stream. Like, the team is now brought back to the size that they were in 2016. When they make Doom, id tech is still alive. They're still going to continue that. It just sucks that, like, we have to be at this point of, like, we are cutting and trimming the fat of all these studios and trying to get them down to a core team and hope that that's where it goes.

22:42And nobody wants to see all these jobs happen. Nobody wants to see these jobs go. Yeah, of course.

22:46Tim Gettys:Yeah, I don't know. I think both things can be true, right? Where I look at this and I am excited for the future of Bethesda, right? You can't be not excited about the idea of an Elder Scrolls VI, especially for me as somebody who is a huge Fallout New Vegas mark. Like having Obsidian back at the helm at a Fallout game, right? Whether that is a Fallout New Vegas 2, whether that's its own new thing like that is super exciting for me but then the other side of it is what's the timing of this like the timing of of the of the announcement and then talking about this i think is strategic of course uh like any pr it feels like jingling keys but it is it is the jingling keys it is the idea of hey we're going to talk about fallout because that is the thing that got most people excited out of all the resets all the layoffs everything was happening when the news broke that you know they're making obsidian is making a new follow game the internet kind of didn't forget about it but they focused on the positive of it so i think that this was a very strategic moment for xbox to try to get some goodwill and also to look forward in this uh future and kind of put it under asha's you know uh bag of like hey look she's fixing she's she the reason why they're all doing this is because of asha and it's like no it's not necessarily true i mean a lot of this has been in the works for a long time especially a new fallout game especially these remasters like this is phil spencer time right but it is a very strategic movie it reminds me of um going into the movie side of things when uh what's his name um david ellison uh brought over he he he bought out from skydance he bought out uh paramount and then he of course lays off a ton a ton of people like i'm talking like a lot of people thousands of people in the paramount um side of things and then comes out and says oh we're making top gun 3 it's like yeah we knew that yeah i mean it's cool it's exciting i'm excited for top gun 3 but also you just did that thing and you're saying that to kind of like try to push into the future right would you have to do as the new leader you have to kind of stamp your mark uh but to me i'm excited about a lot of this stuff i'm actually more excited for like the fact that the creation engine is still going on yeah and like let's talk about the exciting stuff but we got real and that's the right thing to do we got we talked about the reality of what's going on around this announcement but let's now dive in and let's celebrate the fun and the transparency of sure the roadmap ahead because there's a lot of news to break down in here yes yes and just talking about that really quick like i i enjoy that we are just say like i think this is the level of transparency that a company like this should have right i don't think that you should be necessarily doing the hey we're doing elder scrolls we're announcing elder scrolls 6 a decade before it's going to come out right like i think that's the level of transparency that gets you a kick in the ass but i think it's okay to come out and i think it's good to be like hey here's kind of like an update we haven't talked to you guys in a minute you guys been wondering what's going on with fallout it exists of course we're making it duh like because you're gonna have that second revamp of excitement when you announce Fallout 5 properly, right?

Read the full transcript

25:33Tim Gettys:When you announce the Fallout New Vegas and 3 remasters, I'm sure that's just going to be out. That game is just going to be out by the time they talk about it again. So I think it is good to just say the words and to kind of quell the oh, what are they doing? It's almost like when Rockstar announces GTA 6. It's like, yeah, duh. We knew it. I'm glad we have a logo. I'm glad we're talking about it. Well, let's just dive into the Fallout side of things right away since that's going to be the top of the news and then Elder Scrolls after that. But the exciting part is Fallout 5 being in pre-production, now being matched with an Obsidian, their own spinoff Fallout game in the universe, and, of course, the two remasters, right?

26:11This is all super exciting because the fans were now living on a, what, 15 years since Skyrim came out? We had the announcement eight years ago, right? And so we're kind of living in this world and this reality of, oh wow it's taking a long time to make these Bethesda games and when you look at the timeline and how far we still are away from Elder Scrolls then you start to add up the numbers of Fallout and go oh wow this is going to be decades right and so the announcement today to say hey we know Fallout is what you want Fallout 5 is going to be next after this but we're going to work with Obsidian to get you a spin-off earlier that's something we've been talking about a lot with the new Xbox vision.

26:55Go find your heavy hitters. Find a way to allow more of the development teams to play on the sandbox and get the games out faster. More games and more titles. More experiences. No better choice than to go over to Obsidian who finished with the Vowed. Did Outer Worlds 2. Had Grounded. They've been a great workhorse for you, but at the same time they're a super talented team that people want to see kind of make a Fallout game and it seems like a perfect match. It is out of like finally we got that but when you line up all the timelines of now we're done with the vow done without a worlds too it does seem like now is finally the time to do the fall and again like

27:31Tim Gettys:that that is the biggest i would say uh positive from the asha uh administration right now i never know the right word leadership that's the word right right right right right there um with her going in there and just being like hey like it's happening right like i think that phil gave them everyone a lot of leash and leeway to be like own your franchises it's your franchise and we didn't really have much cross-pollination i think this is the first step of like hey no we clearly have this thing over here people want this thing let's just make it official here like let's just put these two together let's have obsidian make this and i i see obsidian as uh xbox's insomniac right like they were able to pound a pound out push out a lot of amazing games really fast uh and i do think we're going to see this game way sooner than you get a Fallout 5.

28:18Tim Gettys:Yeah. Yeah. You're going to see this in four years. The timeline kind of feels remasters first, then Obsidian with their spinoff, and then we'll get to Fallout 5. Yeah. And then I guess you see Elder Scrolls before. Yeah. Somewhere. You see that, all that jazz. But of course, I think the exciting stuff is the remasters. That's kind of the secret. We all kind of knew a poorly kept secret, but exciting that, hey, we're finally saying this is happening. we're going to match up hopefully with the TV show, right? With season three being confirmed and ready to rock. This is going to be great. Yeah, I'm interested in that one because I think for so long we were just like, oh, this is happening next week, next, this year.

28:56Tim Gettys:When is this thing happening? Fallout day this year. Like we've, we've had assumed that this remaster, these remasters exist and are happening ASAP. So I wonder if this announcement shows that like, this is actually further out than we think it is. Like if this is like a two year situation, if this is when the next, like maybe it's already done and they're holding it out for the next season to finally do the thing that we've been wishing that they did, which is release a Fallout in conjunction with a new season of the show. So yeah, I think it is smart to get it out there as long as it is not coming out this year.

29:27Tim Gettys:Because I think if this game is coming out in the next like six months, seven months, then yeah, why would you announce this, right? So I do think that this is a little bit for me. Yeah, I don't see, I don't think you see this in 2026, especially without the Fallout day this year, but they're going to have a big blowout of a fallout day in DC next year. Hey, guess where that's at? That's where it's at. Fallout three, right? So that seems like the timeline will be a fallout three remastered then into new Vegas. And then we'll go from there. But yeah, I'm excited for that. Also, I want to highlight fallout 76, right?

29:58Like these live service games under the Bethesda game studios, right? ESO and fallout 76 are kind of the, I, it's an interesting way of putting it. Cause they're so good. there is a beloved fan base but then there is such a mass audience that does not fuck with these games at all and they're like i'm never going to do that but i hear fallout 76 is going to have a major expansion planned raven rock that's a prequel to the story of fallout 3 i really wonder if like that's a good way for people to try fallout 76 if that will win over some of the people who have stiff-armed that game for so long of being like hey we've made some moves here we've tied in with the tv series we've had a lot of great free updates and just expansions but now we're going to really get closer to those beloved titles like fallout 3 i wonder if that will get people on because for me that gets me excited yeah i love the idea it's a really cool

30:51Tim Gettys:idea especially if you know we're talking about it just now like if fallout 3 remaster comes out next year right we just have everyone has fallout 3 fever next year and this is the moment where it's like hey i want to get back into this oh a prequel to fallout 3 exists and it's in fallout 76 and the game is like 10 bucks on sale, right? Like I'm going to pick that up and try that out. So I do think that's a really, really smart idea. And to go into it, like talk about surprises, right? Like the Starfield stuff. Like I was really quick. I can't believe fallout shelter is still a thing. Oh yeah.

31:19That's like one of the longest segments. I did know fallout 70 or fallout shelter was still a thing, but that is a really fun game. I played it way back. Oh, I loved fall. I haven't played fallout shelters.

31:29Tim Gettys:I mean, there's never been a better time to jump into fall shelter, especially when you have an unscripted Amazon series where we're just going to put a bunch of people in the fallout you should have been I know I was a big Mike we when they came out and they announced it we all everyone in the company said Mike needs to be on this and he never replied I wish I was in that man I would have had it so much fun but yeah I I don't think about fallout shelter but of course that is one of those of like when we talked about the mobile push from Phil and Sarah and just the idea of like hey we're trying to break through and get these mobile gamers over or just a part of it we talk about candy crush right i don't think about fallout shelter that is still going on with 250 million players right that is experienced that that's crazy to think yeah yeah i do i i do wonder like the mobile side of it right because that is something that um asha brought in uh king uh to the actual like uh they were reporting out to her so i do wonder if there is like more of a play there and there's a reason why we're talking about shelter a little bit more of like hey like we're looking at we're maybe doing not a more successful version of what playstation's trying to do right now where they they did like the uncharted temple run type game they have a ratchet and clank mobile game that's coming out right like they're still trying their hardest to make something happen there and xbox has kind of been they had the doom one that came out that no one really played so i wonder if that is the future maybe a fall shelter 2 something like that pushing forward trying to do something different yeah i think it's just with this true transparent message here it's just like let's go over all of it let's everything that we got.

33:00And I mean, to wrap up the Fallout segment really quick, I mean, Fallout 5, exciting stuff. Obsidian, where are they going to go? I loved that the chat when we were on the phone and we had Todd and Fergus on there. People were like, Mike, ask if it's somewhere near Seattle or LA, maybe Vegas. Do they dare return to that? Where do they go? It would be so exciting to see Obsidian's take on like, hey, here's another opportunity after a decade of being away. Let's go have some fun.

33:28Tim Gettys:Yeah, I'm like so I'm such a piece of shit because it's like part of me is just like just do two like I know I don't even know if that works in the timeline I know just do it again let's just do it again let's just run it back one more time yeah but yeah I want them to do something completely different I want them to go out there and do something fun and as much as I loved Obsidian Remastered I can't wait for Fallout 3 Remastered and Fallout New Vegas Remastered just to get those games right like me jumping on the GTA definitive remastered trilogy right and I know that went through so much at launch but like to have these kind of games still alive and kicking in my life 10 years 20 years down the line it's like i want to hold on to these memories and these moments for so long and be able to jump back into the game and have them kind of brought to the new gen is a big deal to me and also oblivion wasn't like i didn't grow up with oblivion so like that didn't really mean much to me to see that like in such a beautiful hd 4k uh but to see new vegas and three in in that same fidelity and you assume it's it's vicarious over there vicarious right that's the team that's over there making that made the oblivion remake remaster either way i'm assuming it's that team that's working on you uh virtuous virtuous virtuous thank you um yeah starfield starfield i was oh what are you looking up i'm just gonna look at super chat see if anybody's got fallout keep going about starfield uh starfield yeah that was one that i think when we were kind of i was talking about like the future of um bethesda and what that would look like a few days ago and i was like oh like starfield's dead like Like, we're just like, that's the one that I would assume that Asha would have came in and just said, no, we're good.

34:56Tim Gettys:We did enough for that game. Like, it didn't work out. I mean, people still play it. But like, to the degree of these other games that we just talked about, those insane numbers, it's not going that way. So I assume that that was just going to be a cutting of the cord. So I'm actually kind of happy that it's continuing and people are like a Greg Miller can be happy and keep on having. Because like, these are the games that sell over time, especially like these Bethesda games, especially like a Starfield, which is their cyberpunk, right? which is a game that didn't do well in the beginning and is just slowly but surely finding more and more people every year you're gonna have those moments you're gonna have those viral moments a few years from now a few months from now people like oh starfield's not that bad anymore oh i actually have this experience with it and this is always going to be one that pays dividends especially when you are waiting for the bigger release so it is it does behoove them now that i'm thinking about it to continue starfield and to continue especially just came out on ps5 so yeah i mean i don't think there was ever a plan to stop it right i think maybe some players did not vibe with it but there's a dedicated fan base to this of course super chatter greg miller with the ten dollar super chat thank you starfield all caps right there is a audience for that and i think a big one as well on top of that to talk about is the user generated content right the creation engine there that is powering these you know players to create user generated content they had the little highlight right created by players how much money uh we are proud to say that creators have already earned more than$10 million in royalties from their work, right?

36:21That is something that we don't talk much about Bethesda games, but people know about it, especially with the mods that are put in it. But that user-generated content has been pushing Starfield slowly but surely, right? As this dev team tries to make back up the ground that players wanted to see in Starfield and are currently getting to, that user-generated content was the stuff that was like, hey, we're going to make sure that players are sticking around, and it seems to have paid off.

36:46Tim Gettys:Absolutely. and uh yeah talking about that 10 million dollars in royalties like how great is that i love seeing that stuff and i think that's super important uh to have for the ecosystem of these games is to get these people paid out and to continue to have the incentive now yeah i think that's something special that's been going on for a while you know i highlighted my notes it's like we don't talk much about that right like if you're a diehard fan you know about it but you know they don't really talk about the creation side of things user generated content and the payout as well Yeah, absolutely.

37:13Tim Gettys:Studio collaboration. This was an interesting thing for me. Of course, you talked about Obsidian Entertainment, but kind of bringing in ZeniMax Online Studios. I just want to kind of read this one just a little bit like again, because I'm trying to grab my head around it and let me know what your takes are on it. We're also bringing our teams closer together across Bethesda. ZeniMax Online Studios will partner closely with Bethesda Game Studios on the Elder Scrolls franchise while continuing to deliver incredible experiences on ESL. so does that mean like they're now a co-development team on elder scrolls 6 is that kind of what the vibe is there is this because because they say specifically they're working on elder scrolls online but in tandem now they're working on the elder scrolls franchise with uh bethesda and i think that that is a very interesting and smart call to kind of bring them closer especially since they are like the gatekeepers of this this lore right and like they understand the lore of this world, maybe deeper than a lot of people at Bethesda at this point, Bethesda Prime over there, Game Studios.

38:10Tim Gettys:So I do think it's really interesting to kind of bring them in and kind of potentially help out with the sequel, with the 6. What do you think that means? Yeah, Roger, my mind goes to the exact same thing, right? I think we talked about the goal of like more people playing in the sandbox, but also relying on your studios that are already doing a great job in the sandbox to say, hey, let's get some help, especially when it comes to Elder Scrolls 6 and how long we've waited since that announcement, right? It's been eight years right now. We're looking for this to be hopefully in the next two, but probably not, right?

38:42So it's like, hey, how do you lean on the people around you that are lore masters, as you brought up, Roger, probably know the tech and the engine are able to come over here. ESO right now is cooking. That is a engine that is already firing and moving down the track. How do you take some of that staff and say, hey, jump over here, assist us, and then go back to where you need to be. Also, a lot of layoffs over there, of course, losing a lot of senior staff, which is unfortunate, right? And this is kind of the conversation I always have with you and Bless in the other side of the studio of, let's talk about these live service games.

39:15Where are they at right now? And so we hear a lot of positive news with ESO and Fallout 76 continuing, but what are the numbers of the player base, the revenue being brought in? It seems like they're going to stay on track and keep going, But is there ever a time where it is time to start slowing those down, taking people from those teams and bringing them onto your main franchises? But I think sharing them between this is the right call. If it's Fallout and Skyrim or Fallout and Elder Scrolls are your big, heavy hitters here from this team, we got to focus on that and bring as many people into that to make these franchises go.

39:50Tim Gettys:Yeah, I completely agree with you. I don't know if this spells the end days for ESO, but I think this probably spells the slowing down of that. You might not get the big content once a year, like you got. I mean, we'll see the shakeup, right? We have no idea where Elder Scrolls Online will be right now, but I do anticipate seeing the senior staff go, seeing so many layoffs, of course, the protests that happened last week, right? It's like this is something where, hey, I assume we're probably going to see a slowdown in the major content release, but I don't think we're going to see a slowdown in the game quite yet.

40:24Tim Gettys:Absolutely. and anything I missed here I don't think so I mean of course Elder Scrolls 6 right being in main production here we're hitting the spots that we want to be three years from now I'm crossing my fingers Roger sooner than later but we will see but either way that is the big moment of hey we know you're waiting for this we know you want this we're moving towards it we're moving towards it I am cautiously very excited for that game I just again it's not real until I see the date unless I see the actual gameplay of what this thing is but I'm very I'm excited for what the future is and we have some breaking news that we'll get to after the ad but any last yeah I want to read a couple quick super chats really fast.

41:08I love that. Prime writes in with the$5 super chat says I was 19 when Skyrim came out. Fallout fans don't have to wait so long for a new game and neither does neither do we for Elder Scrolls 6. It's a win-win. Also Elder Scrolls over Fallout. Okay, Prime likes Elder Scrolls. I like that. I think you're going to see a lot more push, especially from Asha and her new leadership team of, here's the big dogs. Let's get them going right away. This is all positive news on that one. On the flip side, of course, we do have people like Gerald of Rivia writing in and says, please don't let these announcements overshadow the employees who protested this week for better working conditions.

41:46And then, of course, as well, we have one more that says, here we go. Emo Ethan says, nobody wants to see these jobs go, but oh boy, give me these remastered slop. We've got to get better, guys. Of course, me and Roger talked about the reality at the top of this, right? Like there are two ways to talk about this news. Of course, it is a celebration. We are fans of these worlds. We want to play these games. We are gamers at the core. And of course, we're going to celebrate our Bravest franchises coming out. But on the flip side, Mike Roger, the whole team at Kind of Funny, all of you watching and listening, we know the reality of the video game industry right now.

42:24We've seen the layoffs, the job cuts, the studio closures, the studio spinoffs from Xbox. Nobody's giving them that walk away. Of course, it is dangling keys trying to get in front of you, but we're going to have the hard conversations. We're going to talk about the reality, and at the same time, we're also going to celebrate the things we love and the people that make them, because that's what we have to do. It's a double-sided coin that you've got to go on both sides with.

42:45Tim Gettys:And also, like this is just i think two things can be true at the same time right like we can talk about as we talked about the beginning of this of like hey like people lost their jobs like this is clearly a pr moment for them but also the game if we this is the thing that they should have been doing for years right we should have been hearing these updates quarterly yearly whatever it is from bethesda we shouldn't have taken 10 years for them to be like hey also we're working on fallout 5 okay well it's been a little bit too late right now so this i am going to celebrate that of like hey at least we have a little bit more transparency in like the development pipeline of this you don't have to give me the fucking logo or anything but like just tell me like hey what are you guys working on what are you guys doing here so that i'm not you don't have the internet screaming at you all the time you're like where's just just say it just it's fine to say it and it's okay to have this type of transparency and it just it sucks that this is the reason why we're having this transparency is because of all the layoffs and i was trying to kind of forget about that and that's the reason why xbox is saying this right now um so yeah again i understand the internet is very binary right now.

43:43Tim Gettys:The internet always will be, but both things can be true. We can celebrate and talk about the thing that we're excited about, but also have to talk about, like, hey, like, you know, all the things that are happening. As of right now, you want Xbox to be more transparent. That's what we want from them, who are trying to figure out the messaging and the clear, this is our directive, right? And Asha and her leadership team have come in, like I talked about at the top of the show, and have been pretty transparent with the good and the bad, right? And I expect more of this from other studios of like hey here's kind of the roadmap here's what you can expect from us we all kind of know they have to lean on their flagship titles to try to push forward to say gamers want this they want they want that we have to do this and again like i have issues with this i have issues with the way that xbox is restructuring because i do think it is leaving them kind of blind in a lot of places where they don't have these new ips they don't have these sequels we're never going to get that avowed sequel right and i understand about one didn't do great but i also think that the reason why we have so many amazing franchises is because we allow good games to have great sequels yes and avowed will never that will never happen apparently it's still in the works whatever but like i have it i have huge doubts that asha sharma is going to be like hey we're going to release another fantasy rpg around the same time as like no that's not happening right so it's like it's these issues that are going to compound in the next seven ten years where we're going to have a lot of the same franchises.

45:07Tim Gettys:We're going to get a lot of remasters. We're not going to have the breadth of new IP or sequels. That's a hard course correction that this team wants to take after the decade of what they did with Phil and Sarah and that goal of game pass, more titles, the freedom from the developers, new IPs. Now it is, hey, that didn't work. We're going to shift this ship to the left. And then I think it's a little bit of an overcorrection. And I think that that is all to say that this is good stuff. I have issues with this. But we'll continue talking about this every day, every week on Kind of Funny Games daily.

46:50Tim Gettys:And we are back with some breaking news. Joe Ziegler, Marathon Game Director, is leaving Bungie. This is his Twitter post over here. I'm going to read it verbatim. Hey, everyone. I've got a bit of announcement to make. Today, Friday, 717, will be my last day at Bungie, and I'll be passing the torch of game director to the very capable and amazing hands of Del Chafe III, who will guide the game forward alongside the creative director, Julia Narden. Both of them have been operating in a strong leadership capacity for the team and are ready to guide Marathon into the next chapter with an even better and brighter future.

47:30Tim Gettys:I'm proud of them and excited to see them helm the future of this crazy little world we've created together. As for me, I'll be heading to something new somewhere else, and we'll update you on where and what soon. I just wanted to say a deeply heartfelt thank you to all of you for supporting me and Marathon in our windy mission to bring a dark and terrifying space survival frontier to your screen. The mission will continue in new and surprising ways, so stay tuned for what this team has in store for you. It has been a pleasure seeing all of the stories you've created, all the clever ways you've found ways to murder robots and one another.

48:12Tim Gettys:Hopefully, as I move on to new things, you'll join me for those adventures as well. Much love to the Marathon community and all my friends and colleagues at Bungie. May we cross paths again. Keep it weird. Keep it real. heart emoticon. Wow. Surprising news right there. Yeah. Big surprising news to Joe. Most importantly, best of luck wherever you go, whatever you do next. Thank you for your contribute contributions. Hopefully it's been nothing but positive with all that, but that's a major shakeup. That is major news there. Of course, this is a game that is still continuing to find its voice, its place in the world right now.

48:50It has taken a lot of player feedback. It has taken the world's criticism and feedback. and tried to adjust and be malleable to the point where it is something a little bit different than it was first pitched as, right? We're talking about a PVE mode coming out around the corner here soon with a test trial. And then, of course, into season three when it should be planned to launch. And so I don't know what to take from Joe's departure besides, hey, it seems like Joe maybe has seen something different or they said you're done. And yeah, for something new for Joe, this is an interesting one.

49:23Tim Gettys:because I think if I was just read the headline, I would just assume that, you know, the game wasn't working out. He was let go or whatever, but it does seem like he has something lined up, like just from the way that he wrote that. Maybe those two things coincided, right? He had something, he was let go, whatever. You never know. But it seems like he has somewhere to go right there. So I'm going to give that the benefit of the doubt of, hey, he had a new opportunity, saw it, maybe saw the writing on the wall for what was going on there. So congratulations to him and his career over there on Bungie and best of luck to the next endeavors.

49:52Yeah, let's see where Marathon goes here in the next six months, right? As we talk about it at the top of the year into 2027, where's Marathon? Where's Bungie stand with Sony, with this game? What is the future, right? We've talked about it before. Those who have tried Marathon and really have given it its all love this game, right? There is something at its core that is very good. The general audience around it, though, did not love that. kind of which turned off by the extraction shooter game genre of itself we saw a big hit with arc raiders marathon didn't hit that same way bungie of course is in a whole lot of awkward places right now without destiny 3 uh where does this go where do we go we'll see we'll see really really

50:36Tim Gettys:concerning but shout out to joe and his time over there story number two properly this is a insane one god of war to recast lead kratos act kratos after ryan hearst suffers injury on set of prime video series is from nelly andreva over at deadline prime videos god of war will have a new actor playing kratos as the lead role in the high profile fantasy drama series is being recast deadline has learned the decision made after careful consideration by the studios on the show sony pictures television and amazon mgm studios comes after ryan hurst who had originally had been originally cast as kratos was seriously injured on the set of the playstation video game adaptation in late june this is a heartbreaking development for hurst who underwent a physical transformation after getting the role putting on 40 pounds of muscle out and worked hard for months on the vancouver set filming a physically demanding role until getting hurt during his getting hurt performing his duties.

51:41Tim Gettys:Hearst tore a bicep while doing a stunt on the show, as first reported by TMZ. According to the sources, he has since undergone surgery and is now recovering. God of War paused production immediately following the incident and remains on hiatus. Hearst's projected recovery time is unclear, but for serious bicep tear requiring surgery, it is typically four to six months, with a full-to-return strength taking up to a year given the physicality of the role it will likely not have been safe for to resume filming until 2027 according to sources while hearst's full recovery is a priority the period required for it was longer than the production shooting schedule could accommodate leading to the difficult decision to recast the role prep is expected to begin in to begin in mid-august for a mid-october production start according to sources four episodes have been fully completed at the time of this incident.

52:38Tim Gettys:Jesus Christ. We got to find someone who's absolutely yacked out of their mind ASAP, right? This guy adding 40 pounds of muscle for the role and then such an unfortunate injury here during this filming. I mean, we have to hustle and recast because we are working with a child actor, right? That is Atreus and this kid is growing fast as fast as possible. And so it's like, hey, we got to kind of make sure we got someone here because we can't. I mean, you are right. This kid's going to be 15 years old driving to set in two months from now. So, like, let's fucking hustle here. He's growing as fast as possible.

53:19This kid is 7 '4". Exactly. He's like group. This kid is fucking. He's hitting puberty. He's driving. He's at prom. He's got a girlfriend now. He's not on set. He's vaping. We don't know what's happening with this kid. The time Ryan came back, this kid would already be in college. So, yeah. I mean, truly an unfortunate situation, right? Absolutely. The reality of it is the bicep tear requiring surgery. This is a four to nine-month recovery time. We know that actors, we know that superstar athletes, they got the special recovery and post-surgery that us normal people don't get. We don't know what that looks like.

54:00Who knows? but like we can get back a little bit faster but the reality is this guy's going to be working that arm all the time and if we re-aggravated we restarted you're only going to push this out longer and longer it'll be wild of four episodes have already been in there they're going to clearly reshoot all that because you got to have a new face there i i always i still always think back to when we first saw that set photo and everybody said i don't know so maybe we'll find a little bit closer to what I'm envisioning, but I feel bad for the guy because that does suck. That's a major role that was clearly going to get some runtime here with the season two, probably, you would assume.

54:39That's too bad.

54:40Tim Gettys:Yeah, no, this sucks, especially like it was kind of a shocking one. I couldn't stop thinking about it last night because it is probably just a math issue, right? Like you have to do the math of you're the production team and this person who clearly is the guy, right? Like he's a great actor. he you know gained 40 pounds of muscle this is not a great photo the initial one but i'm sure he's great in the in the show um hurts himself right that's a whole pretty much year that you have to wait out right so that means you have to redo uh entire sets you have to deal with a kid getting older you have to deal with um you know all of these schedulings of uh all the other actors who probably have other responsibilities and things going on there you have to go around them and then you have to just think about okay well we have to eat four episodes now and that is probably just a pure math issue of like okay it's going to take x million dollars extra to redo all those four episodes and it's going to take us x million dollars to wait another year and also millions of dollars of you know marketing and all that stuff so really tough really sucks and yeah it is i am always fascinated when there's so many stories of movies that like have an actor that they start recording movies or a show with and then they're like this is not working out like the famous one is um back to the future of course that was a different situation the guy just wasn't working out he wasn't good he wasn't good for the role but it is like man i do want to see those four episodes right i do i do kind of i do kind of hope that they release the director's cut or just like honor him a little bit of like hey you put in the work like yeah we're going to release the four episodes but also that gets a little weird because you don't want people to the new actor to be compared to the old actor we rewrite the story yeah the first four episodes are with ryan yeah And then Atreus wakes up in the back rooms, okay?

56:21It's a different reality, a new Kratos, a new life form. We just ride episode five. Or Atreus gets bonked on the head with a coconut.

56:29Tim Gettys:He's like, oh, Dad, you look a little different. And it's me. It's me walking around. I'm like, hey, Sean, how are you doing? Where do you find somebody that yakked so quickly right there? How do you find a bald, young, bearded, mustachioed man? We'll shove so much steroids into Roger. I would love it. We'll do anything for you. I will put all of the peptides in my body. I don't care where it's for. I'll figure it out right here. You know what? They should get the mountain from Game of Thrones. I love the mountain. I mean, yeah. But he doesn't quite look like this. Also, Triple H cannot do this.

57:01Tim Gettys:Everybody say Triple H. No. Triple H is not like that. Back in his prime, though? Yeah. Shave that head? Get out there. Hilarious. When you ask, where can we get one? Someone in the chat said Grindr. I was like, that's actually true. Story number three. We're going to do a live reaction, everybody. to a wolverine trailer for the new game let's do it kevin are we ready for that with sound there it is let's watch it

57:39i've lived long enough i like his look it's all started to pour together

58:03Oh shit Sabertooth there with the outfit looked great Yeah, I did

58:12He's looking for this photo, Roger That's me and you Whenever I get a photo of you I gotta hold on to it, keep it close. Looks like the photo in the meme.

58:20Tim Gettys:The X-Men meme. He's laying in bed.

58:24Death, elitist, death strike, right?

58:29Okay, so we got a bad guy revealed. That's cool.

58:35Oh, no.

58:36Tim Gettys:Oh, shit, it's on fire. There won't be anything left except the rage.

58:49Tim Gettys:September 15th. And then it goes back to the fucking September 2nd or whatever Greg was saying. Yeah, that's the trailer, everybody. I actually, I've seen this before. So yeah, what do you think of that? That was my first time seeing it. That's nice. You know what I mean? Of course, we continue to reveal and reveal. It's nice to see another bad guy in the mix. That's cool. But yeah, that's fine. That's nice. I was watching this trailer in chat. Like, be cool. You're going to get real, Roger? Let's have a real conversation. Wow, Roger. I'm excited for this because I'm on the opposite side. Is there any hype for this game?

59:18Tim Gettys:Is there real hype for this game? I don't know. I don't feel it. I don't feel it like I felt for Spider-Man. I know it's a different type of game, but I don't feel the excitement in the air. I don't know if it's been too much Wolverine, too many Wolverine games specifically. I don't know what it is, but there isn't the hype that I feel I would expect to feel for once we saw that original reveal. We're like, man, this is going to be exciting. The game was re-revealed. We see these trailers. There's this awesome trailer, which is really cool but like i don't feel it i don't feel it in the air i don't feel it with any of my friends that like superhero games i have a friend that's a huge fucking x-men guy never talks about this like okay i feel like this would be number one thing that we're all talking about i don't know a couple of things maybe you're not feeling the hype because we are still two months out sure right but also yeah we're in the heat of summer we're not to september yet so like we are in the thick of things we're not quite there to build the super hype for it when we're a month two weeks out but on top of that maybe you're not feeling the hype because there's 9 ,000 games that have been released since January 1st to June.

1:00:19And then you're just getting pelted with too many games. But for me, I'm super hyped for this. I am excited for Wolverine. I'm excited to see what Insomniac does. I think there's a lot of expectations here, especially coming off of Spider-Man. Now the mix of, well, this isn't open world Spider-Man anymore, Mike. What can they do with this kind of linear, uncharted Wolverine that we're assuming that we'll look at, right? But I'm excited to play as Wolverine. And I'm excited for a new tale. I want to see where they can take this story, what the tie-ins can be, what the future with Insomniac and more Marvel games can be.

1:00:54Of course, I want more Spider-Man, but also it's kind of a breath of fresh air. Spider-Man 3 would have been a lot of Spider-Man. I'm not saying like,

1:01:01Tim Gettys:hey, I wish this was Spider-Man 3 specifically, right? We know that's happening. I'm just more of like, I think I'm Wolverined out. Like I've talked about this before, but like maybe it's my age, right? Because like, think about where I'm at, right? I'm 27 years old. the first x-men movie came out what when i was one years old right which like hugh jackman was the guy you weren't living and my entire life has been wolverine wolverine and i've seen this right like i've seen old man logan i've seen so many stories that are wolverine and he's getting fucked up and he's ripping people in half and like we have seen a video game that of course is not to this quality probably but you know wolverine x-men origins or whatever like that was that's a different game but wolverine origins the one on the 360 was great and it was bloody and it's like i've experienced this like experience before i am not necessarily interested in logan trying to figure out his past and doing all this stuff and trying to connect with things like i am more interested in x-men and i think that like x-men 97 has fully changed my perspective of the the hierarchy of power when it comes to where i watch x-men 97 and i adore that show because it doesn't focus on Wolverine, right?

1:02:09Tim Gettys:Because it has the balls to be like, hey, Cyclops is really interesting. Hey, like we're going to go around and like have everyone have their moment. And them as a team is really interesting. I think Wolverine to me is an interesting character after the first few times and the first few stories you've heard that story. After that, it kind of gets a little bit, I don't know, boring, especially when you have Spider-Man, which has the hook of swinging around, right? Even if you have a mid-ass fight. And the fun of the open world. It's so much fun. Yeah, so I am really interested to see if this can hook me because I want to play it.

1:02:41Tim Gettys:I'm excited to pick it up and I'm excited to feel it. But if it doesn't have that hook for the story, then I feel like it's just going to lose me a little bit. I mean, as Greg would always tell you, Roger, it's about the money, right? And we chose Wolverine because it's about the money. We can't go to a B-lister here from the X-Men squad. And we have to start with Wolverine to build up the X-Men. We have to start with the biggest dog because he will make us the money. and then we can stretch out just a little bit and give you what you want. Yeah, then we can get X-Men. Yeah, I totally get it, Roger.

1:03:13I get it.

1:03:14Tim Gettys:Yeah, but if they were to actually stretch out and give me X-Men, that'd be huge news. I'm tired of that. I think I'm crazy. What were you going to say? No, nothing, Roger. Say it. No, keep it going. Come on, stretching? I was going to stretch for you. Mike, tell me about the We News Channel. What's up with that? Roger, I take you to the We News Channel, our final news segment that covers all the small news stories you need to know about. Oh, a lot of things going on there. Wii News, ZA slash UM announced up to 32 layoffs after Zero Parade for Dead Spies commercially underperformed. That really sucks.

1:03:47Tim Gettys:That game, from what I've played, I'm maybe about eight hours, nine hours in. I need to go back to it. Very good. I had a great time with that. I think it's just weird timing of it all. I think it just didn't have great marketing. That was the team behind the really super loved Disco Elysium. Disco Elysium. And of course, that team split off. So there's multiple different factions making different games. Yes, but this is like the team, though. This was the one? I forget who broke off from it. But yeah, this was technically the team that did it. So yeah, that is unfortunate for sure. Do we know how that game did?

1:04:19It said commercially underperformed. No, but I mean like reviews-wise. I think it has like 83. Didn't resonate with people of like, yo, this bang?

1:04:25Tim Gettys:I think it just came after like how good Disco Elysium was. And everyone was like, yeah, it's great. It's good. You know what I mean? but it didn't hit like that. Grizzly and the Lemmings Crazy Party launches on Switch and Switch 2 August 7th, 2026. I don't... Who's Grizzly? Who's the crazy party's he going to? Who's Grizzly? Leaving the keys in the bowl? The Lemmings? Are the Lemmings from Rayman? Are there the little fuzzballs from Rayman? That's Ray... That's... Sorry, Rayman's. Jesus. You think of the... No, no. The little fuzzballs in Rayman are not the Rabbids. The Rabbids are the Rabbids.

1:04:59But there's Lemmings. The little fuzzballs, I think. These are the things that follow you, right?

1:05:02Tim Gettys:It's that game where you like, it's like Mario versus Donkey Kong. I don't know what you're talking about. The Lemmings, from the Lemmings. From Eurogamer. Battlefield 6 is getting an evolved carrier assault mode in season four. And the Top Gun collab brings more than cosmetics. Super sick, of course. The excitement for season four, the continuing of Battlefield 6 and the add-on content. This is exciting stuff. And Top Gun collab, hold up. Wait a minute. Hold up. From RPG site, Final Fantasy XIV mobile, I'm assuming. There you go. You nailed it. XIV mobile will end service on September 30th in China.

1:05:46Tim Gettys:Global version canceled. Oh. It's not happening anymore. Wow. Okay. Yeah, it's interesting. Like, you see that one. You see, what was it? Call of Duty Warzone mobile. Yes. You see these things where it's like, oh, this should be a billion-dollar franchise on mobile it's just not working out so i don't know what's going on there i mean that's a large game to put on mobile for me my mind to wrap around a final fantasy 14 mobile right like i don't see a world of warcraft mobile anywhere out there right but i mean that's coming up you wish but you try you try to expand and see if it works yeah yep and then final wii news over here marvel token fighting souls open beta is coming july 24th through the 26th or let's go and pc i mean he did build this so i think he knows 24 through 26 that's next weekend that's exciting i want to try this game uh weekend we can't play it on trim uh friday through it's friday through uh sunday you could put it on a friday we make it happen and that is you want to play rhythm heaven i do want to play rhythm heaven that is it for we news i want to play the rhythm heaven party mode that'd be really fun y 'all you got to play it i'm gonna tell everyone that i'm gonna tell everyone i hate wolverine yeah and then i love rhythm heaven i love that and that's just who i am everybody Let's get through you're wrong and some super chats to round out today's show.

1:06:59I got some super chats. I love that. I'll get you're wrong. Alex writes in, says that was awesome. That was regarding the four-way phone call that I was a part of. History will remember Snowbike Mike was a part of that phone call.

1:07:11Tim Gettys:History has its eyes on Mike. Shout out to Names Too Hard For You. So shout out to Snowbike Michael for the new number one games journalist over at Kind of Funny. It's because I held the cell phone. You wouldn't ask him any questions, though. You wouldn't say, hey, what's up with Skyrim? I didn't know if I was invited to ask questions or if I was just the guy holding this. My favorite thing is, that's what I wrote. I wrote, tell Todd we're finishing Skyrim. And then he looked at me and said, yep, yep. I didn't know about that. I'm trying to kick him across the thing. I hate him. Jack All Day writes in and says, here's a super chat for Mikey and the end of his sea hole journey was amazing to be a part of it and able to witness the end of it.

1:07:50Roger, we didn't get to talk at the top of the show because we wanted to get to the phone call, make sure we were mindful of Big Ben's graduation. Shout out to my guy over there. Why'd you point up? Because we're going to be playing some T-ball here soon enough, me and Ben. Okay, I like that. Coach Mike will be appearing here. Yeah, I like that. I like that. But, of course, I didn't get to talk about finishing the Z-hole. Roger, as you know, I took a journey. I opened up my heart. On March 8th, 2026, I said, I'm going to try The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time. Metacritic's highest rated game of all time.

1:08:24Yeah, but that was before that was when we had like five people making and so I said, I'm going to go out and give this a try. You don't remember Corey in the House? Oh yeah, that's not what I was referencing. I was saying it's an old

1:08:32Tim Gettys:game, so there's like five people making video games. Well, I gave it, I said, I'm going to give it a try. And now, on July 16, 2026, I'm excited and happy to say that I have completed five Legend of Zelda games from Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword full freaking motion controls game almost broke me but I broke it and I'll tell you what that game hits it's got some incredible lore a little bit slow in the middle the motion controls are a little bit of a headache they gotta really get around there's some slow parts in it but when we talk about the lore the music just Link, Zelda and the Dorf this game rocks dude now let me tell you this franchise rocks and i know you love this franchise so much i'm proud to announce that mike starting today will start playing breath of the wild he's going to he's non-stop uh he's going deep in the z hole he's got to go through it to get out of it uh and then that means that you will have to go through it and then backwards so you will have to start with the original legend of zelda and go up to minish cap and everything so thank you uh that is what mike thank you to jack all day on that one what's the name of the name jack all day Jacka all day?

1:09:46Yeah, that's what I call it. How do you spell it? J-A-Q-U-A

1:09:53Tim Gettys:Jacka all day. Yeah, I like to call it Jacka. Jacka all day. Jacka all day. Yeah, you know what I mean? I like that. I'll spread to the mic. Joey Radstone says the Fallout remasters most likely being in UE5, like Oblivion, makes me sad. Oblivion remastered still runs terribly. Okay. and that ends our super chats let's go to you're wrong everybody where we see everything that we did wrong today and guess what it's fucking empty nothing wrong Mike actually I see one right here it says Roger's Wolverine take is completely based and that's from Todd Howard himself he wrote that one and that's crazy no that is it we are completely free and we are completely goaded is what I'm hearing right now Mike it's been an amazing show great show Roger and a big Friday ahead.

1:10:41We have a great games cast coming up. Let me get you the title officially. You know what? Let me give you the official title right here, Roger. We are going with the most anticipated fall games, the kind of funny games cast. So we'll be talking about our most anticipated games for fall and beyond here as we look at 2026 to close out in the next six months. And then after that, Roger, we got a fun party mode. It's a double party mode week with Heave Ho 2. Andy, Tim, Bless, and Joey are playing the brand new release, Heave Ho. Can they work together? Will Joey break? We'll find out.
