For now, let's begin with what is, and forever will be, the Roper Report. It's time for some news! We have five stories today. A baker's desert! Starting with our number one, Ubisoft confirms Far Cry will more predominantly push multiplayer in the future.
3:08Blessing Adeoye Jr.:This is Andy Robinson at Video Games Chronicle. Ubisoft has confirmed it intends to more prominently integrate multiplayer into future installments of Far Cry. Speaking on stage at Saudi Arabia's new global sport conference covered by GameFile, CEO Yves Guillemot was asked about the future of the shooter series, which recently fell under the control of a new Tencent-backed subsidiary. According to Guillemot, the goal on Far Cry is really to bring the multiplayer aspects more predominantly pushed, really to bring the multiplayer aspects more predominantly pushed so that it can also be played for a long time by players the exec's comments potentially corroborate press reports from 2023 which claimed that Ubisoft was developing Far Cry 7 and a standalone Far Cry multiplayer game it was claimed at the time that Far Cry 7 was being made with Ubisoft's Snowdrop engine rather than the Dunia engine used for recent series entries the multiplayer game was described as an extraction-based shooter set in the Alaskan wilderness.
4:09Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Mike, Far Cry, multiplayer. Do you like the idea of more multiplayer integration into the Far Cry series? Yeah, but let's talk about it because at first, I was okay and excited with it, right? When I think Far Cry and I think of the past couple entries, I do think of a co-op shared experience in this giant open world, right? I've enjoyed the idea of I've really loved my solo experience with Far Cry 3 and beyond. I've had a great time bringing in friends and experiencing Far Cry 6 together, right? It's a giant open world. We get to cause mayhem and destruction together. And, like, that seems like a logical next step in Far Cry.
4:45It's like, I'm all right with people having their solo and also a fun co-op experience. I can even see them going as far as adding in four-player co-op, similar to a Ghost Recon, Wildlands, or Breakpoint. Have they not done that yet with Far Cry? I thought it was two still, but I could be wrong. That, I think, would be a really fun idea. I mean, in my mind, it's like when you bring up multiplayer in Far Cry, yeah, the next step is like make it four players. It's almost a looter shooter as is right now. But it's a giant open world. Plenty of Ubisoft checklist things to do. You and your friends can go get lost in this and create mayhem and have a good time.
5:20And so, yeah, that's the next logical step. Taking it further and going back to the comments above, right? It is all about, well, how do I get the player to spend more time in this? Right. Get them to pay that upfront cost. And then also let's make them buy microtransactions. Let's get them to spend a couple months, days, weeks in here. Maybe they'll spend more and more because it's all about player retention. And then that leads to the next one of like, oh, a extraction based shooter in Alaska. Oh, I see.
5:50Blessing Adeoye Jr.:And that's, I think, where the larger conversation exists. Because when we talk about more multiplayer in Far Cry, I'm with you that like Far Cry has had multiplayer. people from what i can gather like the multiplayer in far cry it was never when i played far cry was not necessarily my cup of tea but also like you know i think because of the type of game that far cry is there's so much potential there right you're going around an open world you're taking down these camps you're hunting you're hanging out you're looting you're doing all this stuff right i think all that stuff makes sense within a multiplayer framework and so if you wanted to push that further make it four player co-op right like find more of the modes i remember they had like the arcade modes and stuff that they would add with multiplayer as well that seemed like fun ideas i don't know if they ever took off in the way they wanted them to but i think that's where i zero in on the specific quote from yves gilmont where he says the goal on far cry is really to bring the multiplayer aspects more predominantly pushed so that it can also be played for a long time by players yes for a long time by players is the key part of this quote that i think really puts into context the thought process behind where we want to take this thing because when i read that i think of games as a service but even if i want to like stay away from the dirty words of games of the service i just think updates i think events i think um i might think battle pass i might think these different things you might think of ghost recon breakpoint adding raids yes and thinking hey what more can we do for the carrot on the stick yes that's ongoing for people that they're going to keep coming back to because they can play with friends and keep chasing whatever resource or whatever goal that is now come on a walk with me because Because now there's a different side of focusing on the multiplayer side, right?
7:28And now when we think of multiplayer, we think of these kind of add-on experiences. The Last of Us multiplayer, Tomb Raider, Uncharted, these team arena kind of multiplayer experiences within the video game. Far Cry could easily add that. They just had X to find. They could make a little mini mode with that. But we've seen over the years, people have grown kind of not tired of those, but they're not long-lasting enough that the execs want, right? This is more of like a, hey, that lasts for a little bit, and then people die off because they're not great. If it was great, people would stick around and become a Call of Duty situation, and we might like that.
8:02But they've learned that, like, hey, having that 5v5 team arena with multiple objectives and game modes isn't the lasting effect, right? So what can we do? And so that's why I asked you to take a walk with me because there is a positive here. I hear snow drop. I think of massive. I think of division. Yeah. I think of the dark zone. and I think to myself you know what I really enjoyed that extraction part to the division one I would jump in and play a little more of that extraction type vibes if it was set in the far cry world if it was done well I do think that there could be a little bit of traction there right it's not the division per se now all of a sudden we kind of have to build a looter shooter which isn't quite far cry it's more like unlock x y and z gun maybe upgraded but it isn't like borderlands or division where it's hey this is an exotic this is a rare this is a basic now you kind of have to start building that in but the idea of that from ubisoft they have a really good answer with the dark zone in the division how can you build on that make it standalone get back to
9:07Blessing Adeoye Jr.:it they had a winner back in the day i want to ask you a question yeah what does ubisoft do well and what does Ubisoft not do well? Because I think what I think when you're talking about what they had with Dark Zone, what they have with I think that potential of where they've been with Extraction, I don't think Ubisoft chases trends well, but every now and then, I think they do set a trend well. I look at, I think Division, Dark Zone is the example of them setting a trend pretty well. Not that that was the first Extraction thing ever, but I think that was one of the original, oh shit, Like this really works as an extraction thing.
9:44A little bit before their time.
9:45Blessing Adeoye Jr.:A little bit before their time, right? But I think even then, I don't know if we're calling Rainbow Six extraction an extraction shooter, but it has extraction in the title. But that feels like an example of like, okay, well, you guys wanted to run back the extraction idea and like weren't able to capture it here. Amar is the next Far Cry thing. If it is an extraction thing in the Alaskan wilderness, is that going to feel like another Rainbow Six extraction where it feels a little bit half-baked? What do they do well? Giant open worlds. Yes. Right? mayhem, destruction, and creativity for the player to do whatever they want.
10:14That's a check, right? You love running around a Ubisoft world and doing whatever you want. And now add that with friends and say, hey, here's a well-done carrot on the end of the stick for you to constantly chase, but I add in a bunch of other variables, which are other players and NPCs, and let's see what happens. There is something there that clearly they're in the room going, we've had some wins, We've had a lot of losses. If we found this, and that's what every team says, right? If we find this perfect diamond in the rough, we could really hone it and make it good. And I think the division right now with where that stands, we're not really there.
10:53Far Cry is a tentpole that's staying up. You could build off of Far Cry.
10:58Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Yeah. I also look at, you know, you talk about division, which like, man, we got to run back division. But I also think about Rainbow Six Siege. We've been playing that for the last few weeks. having such a blast with it that's another example of them like that didn't feel like a trend chase to me that felt like them going at the ip they have and going what makes sense for rainbow six how do we make a fucking excellent rainbow six game and they did it and supported over time and it turned into i think the thing that they keep chasing after now which is we want a multiplayer live service thing that people are going to come back to and we're going to be able to sell battle passes and all that stuff right like it's so interesting how they've been able to hit that before when it felt like they weren't even i don't want to say they weren't trying obviously they're trying but it felt like they weren't chasing after a trend felt natural felt natural that's the word i'm looking for thank you it felt natural when they were trying to do it with rainbow six siege right i think it felt natural when you know they presented us with the division and we went oh it looks pretty cool and it came out and it did what it did and people really liked it they were like check out this dark zone you're like i don't know i'm a little afraid of going in that and then you got the you got the taste of it you're like oh this is fun this is a good time some like really risk reward situations going on in this and so yeah when you read this your mind first goes to like yeah give me more co-op that's fine i prefer single player i think 80 percent of the audience will go no i just want to play my far cry game yeah that's totally cool i think there's a piece of it where you're like i'm acceptable with like me and my four friends running around that's no big deal to me i just don't think a add-on multiplayer experience like a traditional one which is arena with different game modes and it lasts for three to six months and then dies after a year.
12:33It does have to be something more. And it is that kind of live service-y, what is the trend right now? They could have easily said a Far Cry Battle Royale. We all would have rolled our eyes, but at the same time, you would have understood it, right? It's like, that's just PUBG.
12:49Blessing Adeoye Jr.:That's just any other Battle Royale we've seen. I think I'd be more excited for the idea of that if we hadn't seen them try and fail with Battle Royale stuff before, right? Like we talk about Hyperscape and how that really came away. and that felt like their major, like, hey, we're really trying with this thing, and it just didn't work. I think the problem is where we're at with modern Ubisoft, and where we're at with a lot of companies. It's not just Ubisoft. Yeah. Hey, what are the few IP that we just are going to hone in on because we got to make safe bets right now. And with Ubisoft, it is going to be Assassin's Creed.
13:19Blessing Adeoye Jr.:It's going to be Far Cry. It's probably going to be Tom Clancy, like whatever, like, you know, specific Tom Clancy thing that you can hone in on, focus on, and that might be it. Well, you kind of get three strikes, you're out, right? Because you had Hyper Scape, the Battle Royale. You had the recent one, X Defiant, the Team Marina shooter. The Team Marina, yes. And so now you move on to Extraction. And we see what the trends are. We see what sticks, you know? Yeah, but I think that's my thing where I understand being like Far Cry is a very popular IP. And we're able to hit the numbers that we're looking for whenever we put out a Far Cry.
13:50Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Does Far Cry fit for an Extraction thing or Battle Royale thing or any sort of like PvP thing? Or should Far Cry just be the open world? You're in the wilderness. You're hunting. You're like doing almost like immersive simish, but not really anymore because they kind of moved away from that. But we're doing traditional open world shit. And should you just save the extraction stuff for a Tom Clancy game? Well, now you're just attaching. So I think the thing is you're just attaching it to a different IP, right? It's so hard, but a more fitting IP. I mean, you can probably go back and forth on. Yeah.
14:20That's ghost recon break points. Then at that point, right? Like ghost recon had that moment. They tried that. You just did Tom Clancy's, Lancey's The Division, which is very similar to having aspects of that, right? And so you're just trying to attach it to IPs because I think bringing in the new IPs are so hard, like we talk about, right? Sure. Those unknown names, the eye roll of like Ubisoft is coming out with X or Extraction 5.5 or something dumb. And you're like, what is this? You're right. It really is the three strikes. I think they have to attach it to an IP, you know?
14:52Blessing Adeoye Jr.:It is funny because I think the way you're putting it, I didn't think about it this way, but it is like, all right, we're gonna try battle royale and written tom clancy oh that didn't work all right let's try it with fucking far cry oh that's not gonna work all right hey extraction we'll try it with rainbow six ah you know okay well let's try it with it really is like hey these genres we're just hopping around these like few ip the science screen is the one where it's like we don't know how to make it a fucking assassin's creed battle royale so we're not even gonna try it ubisoft is known for their big flagship titles that's what they're known for right they have the weird one-offs that some people celebrate riders republic right roller champions right there's like these odd one-offs that they do, but most of the time people come to Ubisoft for the Ubisoft games, right?
15:32We know what we're getting. We want to have that comfort food. Some of them are going to hit. Some of them are not going to hit. But like, at this point Ubisoft has to double down on the IPs and names that they're most recognized for. In a world of thousands of games releasing every single day they have to leverage their power of their known IPs to get above the rest, right? Extraction 404 versus is Far Cry extraction set in Alaska gets way more traction, right? So that's where they're at. And we'll see. I can see it. I can believe it. I might try it. I don't know if it's perfect, but it's clearly something of like, everyone is chasing a, how do I keep player retention?
16:13How do I get more money and garner more money than just the one initial price tag? What do we got to do?
16:18Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Not to keep going in circles, but I'm with you that I see it. But also, we got to ask the question, do the people that play far cry the far cry audience do they care about extraction the answer is no but you got to broaden it does the ubisoft audience does the gamer audience want this right i think that's a little bit different you can't just you got to broaden it because i i think when you're talking about like trying to fit something into an ip right and going hey we like far cry is one of our biggest why is far cry one of your biggest right how do you cater to that audience what does that audience look for i think when you then go we're gonna to fit for me it's the problem when we're looking at like the playstation side and we're talking about a god of war multiplayer game now we're asking questions of like does the god of war audience want a multiplayer game does the multiplayer audience want a god of war you know i mean like i feel like we're just trying to fit into things into places because you go you look at it and go there's guns there's guns so we can put extraction in it for sure it's like no i don't think i don't think there's a natural fit there even though you look at it and go ah but we can like make it work.
17:22Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Well, is the audience going to connect with this? Well, it's very interesting. It was going to be a fun future for all of games, but Ubisoft and some of their big flagship titles to see what they do, how they innovate, how do they capture the audience? Because right now they are known as the one and done. Yeah. Here's the game. You play it for as long as you want it. You're done with it, right? They don't have many rainbow six sieges where you're going to stick around and spend time for a long time with you and your friends. And so we'll see if they can capture that. Yeah. god let me tell you you made a rainbow six extraction game that seems like a fit and they did and they literally made rainbow six extraction i want to pull in a super chat real quick from kobe aren't who writes in and says glasses look great mike thanks big dog i saw a blessing wearing his glasses i wanted to read the chat today so i'm in it you know what i mean you saw a blessing wearing his glasses the glasses that i've worn every single day of my life you better take them off and just go i don't need those no because i do need them i say it all the i think you need yours too i don't need them uh foxy steve says to me the most interesting thing about far cry are the villains my question is do you think we'll get another celebrity like john carlo esposito oh 100 yeah i think so yeah the next far cry will have some sort of big tie-in uh for sure they're finding massive success with that the marketing buzz of having them go to different spots yeah they'll find somebody i'm gonna tell you right now rob mac come on i was gonna say you ready for mine what's that john ham oh that's a good one john ham bro what was the one i mentioned because i think because we've not had all of our far cry villains have been men right we've not had like a woman far cry villain a badass female yes no i feel like it's time there might be some lieutenants and stuff but nobody is the face i don't think i think it's time well you had the twins but that was kind of like a 4.5 remember the dawn oh yeah yeah yeah the twins the beyonce twins they call them i feel like there's i feel like there's somebody there okay i don't know who i remember joking with greg one time i said sydney sweeney just as a joke but greg was like oh actually i'm like oh um charlise theron okay their own uma thurman umma that's because i watched dexter i like that dexter chat right right in somebody says rhea ripley which would actually be kind of fantastic yeah i like that let's move on to story number two send it down in australia oh yeah oh have we not been to australia no far cry 5 was in america yeah we're in south america true outback no not like that'd be sick i guess i'm thinking of um forza forza horizon 3 what a good game story number two we talked about you let's talk about another publisher acclaim acclaim marks its return by announcing nine new games this is chris scolian at video games chronicle the resurrected acclaim has announced the first nine games it'll be publishing it was announced back in march that acclaimed which declared bankruptcy on september 1st 2004 had been resurrected led by ceo alex joseph the former founder and CEO of Graffiti Games.
20:29Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Also, our boy Double J is on the board, too. Come on. He taught me how to strut. Yeah? Yeah. That's something I still hold near and dear to my heart, learning how to strut with Double J. Remember when he hit Greg with a guitar? I could feel it. There was a power. There was a power, too. Now, in a presentation dubbed the Play Acclaim Showcase, the returning publisher revealed nine new titles by Indie Studios. Highlights from the lineup include, and this is what I'm going to do. I'm just going to go game by game. We can talk about each of these games. There's nine of them, and I have short synopsis on here.
21:02Blessing Adeoye Jr.:First one is Toss Down. It's coming to PC. It's from Developer Fear Factor. Run, jump, and dash through chaos, dodging hazards, and enemies as you deliver packages. Fight back with wacky power-ups and chaos from a variety of perks to improve your chances of survival. It's Crazy Taxi meets Jet Set Radio. Oh. Which you got me with that last description. Looking at it, I give it a... I'd try that. I like the look of this. Yeah, I'm looking at it now. Yeah. I mean, you had me at Crazy Taxi meets Jet Set Radio. The problem is I look at it, and my mind doesn't immediately connect with that description of it, but I see what you're saying, right?
21:36Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Because, like, it's fast-paced. It looks like he has some kind of, like, I don't know what those are on his feet, but it's some kind of, like, roller, gliding situation, fast movement. I'd try it. I'll give it a shot. I'll give it a shot. That's a positive. Next one is Ground Zero Hero. This is coming to PC from developer Rowan Edmondson. Ground Zero Hero is an action roguelike with light survival elements set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Battle-mutated freaks absorb their radioactive guts, mutate yourself to gain new powers, and eat a lot of candy. It would be like you're playing Vampire Survivors and the edible just kicked in and you're watching Cartoon Network.
22:16Blessing Adeoye Jr.:I was going to say, this gives CartoonNetwork.com back in 2004. I love that. Back in 2004, I'm playing Teen Titans Battle Blitz. okay where are we falling on this i mean i was never a vampire survivors person but i know a lot of people are it's a i'm gonna give it a not for me okay what about you i'm gonna give it i'm interested so like it's a little in the middle i don't know if i try this but man i do love bright colors i love wacky cool cartoony characters and i never have been great at the vampire survivor gameplay yeah so maybe this is the one for me yeah if you're audio listener just think vampire survivors but if it was on cartoon network.com i love it next one basketball classics this is coming to switch from developer namo gamo a five on five pro basketball game born from the golden era of sports games this spiritual successor to the eight-bit ballers bridges the gap between retro in today's simulation games yeah side scrolling sweaty arcade action with simplified three button gameplay and retro vibes galore oh what was the weird game oh man i like the look of this.
23:25I like the look. I don't know if I'll love it, but man, I'm going to full on try this. I would try this.
23:31Blessing Adeoye Jr.:This is one that I almost would want this in an arcade setting. You know what I mean? It's not a game that I would see myself playing for a very long time, but it is the kind of game where I'm like, I look at that and I'm like, let me pick that up real quick. I like a good simple basketball game. I will say the art style, it's going for low bit, like 8 bit style. Hold on. they might have some gas here they just had the tnt crew they got doors burke they got a season mode they got like marv albert they got cut scenes in here yeah this is a win this actually right here that's a double thumbs up we're gonna play that my interest is peaked i'll give it that yep next up pixel washer this is coming to pc from developer veladria step into the hooves of pixel that is p-i-g-x-e-l a plucky pig armed with a powerful power washer tasked with cleaning up a messy town wielding your trusty washer you'll spray your way through a variety of exciting challenges from hosing down stunning pixel art masterpieces in a filthy museum to transforming a muddy pigsty into a shimmering pixelated paradise and more it's power wash simulator but in a cool little top-down pixel art look yeah oh that's cute this is a not for me but i i appreciate it oh yeah i love zoning out to games like this this is a this is a try i'll try that next one the prisoning fletcher's quest is coming to pc from developer eldon pixels step into the mind of fletcher howie jr a game developer on the brink of physical and emotional burnout during the final stages of an intense project after a visit to the psychologist that goes horribly wrong you must escape your perilous mental prison in a metroidvania drenched in anxiety based on very true on a very true story i like how indie this is like all of these so far yeah i'm like damn okay these are giving like hey i'm a developer i really have a unique like niche idea that i want to see through but also there is a a genre that i know people love attached to it right whether it be power washer or metroidvania or vampire survivors kind of thing and a claim said let me help fund that a claim said i'm gonna fund me let me help you and i like the look at some of these bosses this looks fun okay okay i'll give it a it interests me i don't know if i'm gonna try it okay but i appreciate the direction i appreciate the arts yeah this is an andy you and barrett joint for sure if i was like hey you guys should try this this wouldn't be the one i'd recommend next next up grid beat is coming to pc okay from ridiculous games step behind the keyboard of a shadowy hacker and move to the beat as you infiltrate virtual dungeons teeming with traps to evade and evade and systems to hack featuring more than 50 neon saturated stages to explore an endless additional content in the form of user-generated stages grid beat will put your skills and your rhythm to the test i don't know got to hear the music i got to hear that's what It's all about it for following the beat.
26:31Blessing Adeoye Jr.:There it is.
26:35Blessing Adeoye Jr.:I do like a rhythm game. Okay. I was very big into this game called Clang. Mike, I don't know if you ever played Clang 2. Clang. Clang, yeah. Now, this is like Puzzle Poppy meets the Beat game. Yeah. I think this could be for you, Bless. This is one that I would check out purely because you're right. This is like very much a blessing-ass game, believe it or not. It's a good match right here. This looks fun to me. I'll give it a try. I like that. This is one that I'll say, I'll try this. I'll try this. You know what? So far, a little quick pause. I'm impressed. Yeah? Acclaim is bringing it. I really didn't think we'd have this many of like, I'm interested in that.
27:14Blessing Adeoye Jr.:I think I'm surprised by, and maybe this is, I should have just paid attention more. I'm surprised by like how indie everything is. I think I thought that they're going to go for like more like a - Space Marine, Double A. Yeah. Like I thought we were going to see more Double A stuff. I do like that they're like, hey, no, we got a direction. And it is, if you got pixel art, if you're 2D, if you're an indie, like we're making, we're like looking at more of like some of the niche products out there, but stuff that might have like good energy slash creative ideas to them, which I really appreciate.
27:42Blessing Adeoye Jr.:I do think that's a really cool vibe. Next up, Talaka. This is coming to PC from Potato Kid, a fast paced combat driven roguelite that brings Afro-Brazilian mythology to life in a vivid hand painted world. Unlike anything you've ever seen. I've not seen the gameplay yet. I'm already in. Go back really quick. I just want to highlight something. I love the Acclaim logo, and I've loved all of the logo treatment that they've done. Look at how badass this logo treatment is for this Acclaim one. Oh, this is nice. That's sick, man. It's going to bring something. Again, just from the description of it being a fast-paced, combat-driven roguelite that brings Afro-Brazilian mythology to life, I'm already in.
28:21Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Now that we're seeing gameplay, I'm even more in. I think this looks... So far, this is my favorite one. Okay. so far this is my favorite one yeah it has like a painted watercolor look to it a lot of style and like the character animations and how the characters look like you attack people and it looks like you have like paint splatter that comes out of them this looks fucking awesome so far that's my game of the show T-A-L-A-K-A and did they say it's a roguelite? yeah I'm fucking in i'm in next one hyper yuki this is coming to pc this is from yb sabi design inc a high speed trick-fueled snowboarding bonanza wrapped in a slick retro futurist y2k aesthetic i'm gonna pause there already i'm in stop yes right here it comes inspired by 90s legends like cool borders and ssx you'll shred through eight over-the-top courses packed with chances to pull off jaw-dropping tricks all set to an electrifying soundtrack featuring ymck trasto nueve vitus and more mike this is sick it's trying to speak to you is it's sick it's ssx tricky meets jet set radio vibes you know what i mean like this yep this looks great let's get this out right away i'm down to play this yeah we're seeing more gameplay here i love the direction i think the gameplay actually no we're seeing more gameplay gameplay actually looks kind of fine it looks exactly like ssx tricky it looks yeah it looks like ssx meets meets jesse radio like you said i mean i i'm in to try this oh he's doing the fucking he's doing the move that's i don't know if you could do that you might get sick for that one that is oh sick logo too it's one of those ones where you are flying close to the sun yeah like for both ssx and for jet set radio of like Like, I don't know, but I'm into it.

30:17Yeah, I love that. That's my game of the show. I thought it was the basketball one. I got it. I got a tie for tie for one.
30:24Blessing Adeoye Jr.:And then last one. This is funny enough. This is a game that I'm already familiar with. It's called Katana. I hope I'm pronouncing that right. Katana. This is coming to PC. It's from developer Voidmaw, an action roguelite set aboard a massive space station falling into cosmic chaos. with the station slowly spiraling out of control and it's once human inhabitants, inhabitants twisted into terrors. You're the luck. You're the unlucky one tasked with uncovering what is going on. Assuming you're able to survive the station's violent halls with souls like combat. This game looks fucking cool. I have this already on my steam in my steam library library ready to play it.
31:00If this game is like really good, bear will not stop talking about it for a year and a half. This is going to be like Katana zero. I was going to say it gives like, this is it right.
31:09Blessing Adeoye Jr.:It's like if Katana Zero and like Blasphemous had a baby. Yes. Yes. Give me some Hotline Miami ultra violence as well, too. Yeah. This is cool looking. I really want to try this one out. It looks fucking dope. Yeah. I think it's like definitely that vibe of me, Andy, and Barrett. Yeah. A hundred percent. And that's it for the showcase. Wow. That's good. Double J. Those last three games really brought it up for me. You and Acclaim. You brought it. You brought it. You delivered. Yeah. I give it a thumbs up. the first half I was like okay seems fine last three games those are ones I'm going to check out.
31:43I think there's a little bit of something for everybody in there. I give a double thumbs up. The pig power wash simulator game basketball SSX tricky the fun little crazy taxi one and we go.

Somebody in chat was asking, is this segment sponsored? No, it is not sponsored. Dougie Mount. We're just having a good time talking video games.
34:33Let's talk about Dougie.
34:34Blessing Adeoye Jr.:There's nine new games now. Nine new indie games announced. I figured it'd be fun for me and Mike to react to that. I think it was a fun one. And I found about three that I'm going to go wishlist right now. Hell yeah. Possibly four to five that I'm interested in. Hell yeah. Story number three. Bioshock movie is definitely based on the first game. As script work continues following Netflix budget cut. This is Tom Phillips at IGN. the long-awaited bioshock movie will adapt the series first game its producer has confirmed as work on the film's script continues netflix announced plans for a movie version of 2k games beloved franchise back in 2022 following earlier discarded plans for a bioshock movie that stretched back almost two decades but recent years have seen the project stall again as netflix cuts changed the scope of the movie something which has seen its script adapt accordingly now producer roy lee has confirmed the project is still in active development with the hunger games director francis lawrence remaining on board well netflix wants us to keep everything under wraps lee told the direct uh but it's definitely going to be based on the first bioshock game and whoa we talked about this yesterday are you surprised by that which part that i mean that it would be based on the first let's start there that feels like non-news that has to be where you would base this We're going to base this off of Bioshock 2.
35:49Like, no. We're going to start with Infinite. We're going to start with Infinite.
35:53Blessing Adeoye Jr.:No, you start with number one. Yeah. Again, if you're wondering if the last segment was sponsored, it's because, no, there wasn't really much other news. Yeah, I just, this one isn't wild to me. I guess maybe the scope and the size might be more of a talking point because, yeah, the logical step is, of course, we're doing Bioshock 1. We have to set the whole world, set the tone, and then go from there to build off of. I think more of the scope to me is like, well, what really is this? Because we're seeing, in my mind, such an influx of the animation style, the anime kind of adaptations of these.
36:26Is Netflix looking going, hey, maybe we don't want to fund a full live action anymore. Maybe this isn't going to hit the way it is. Why don't you just do the animation style? We'll fund that. And maybe they're having some push back and forth to see really where this will land when it hits the finishing line.
36:41Blessing Adeoye Jr.:I mean, I think that'd be a decent way to do it. right like i i i don't think this comes out i i don't think this sees the light of day i think hearing the news of it getting the but the budget cut i'm like oh well why are we doing this in the first place i'm also of the mind that like i just don't think a bioshock movie is necessary i don't really want it i like bioshock i love the story of bioshock forth of like yeah totally it it definitely is like video game history it's a great game yeah it's a cool one over there and at the same time it's like well i don't really need that and who's watching that in 2025 right Let alone when this finally comes out, let's say 2027, 2028.
37:17Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Like, Bioshock, we're talking about a game that came out in like 2008. Like, what are we doing here? I'm sure this is when they got the rights to and they got the opportunity to work with it a long time ago or a while back. And now it's like, hey, is this still relevant to us? Where do we really see this? Is it a movie? Is it a season? Is it a series? Where is this standing right now? And so I think there's working through that. because like you said is this either going to reach the finish line or it doesn't seem like yeah i think i said this on an episode a few weeks ago that i don't need bioshock to be a like a big franchise franchise right i think bioshock one came out and it was it came out as a classic fucking video game came out boo people away people loved it bioshock 2 came out followed up on that bioshock invita came out people also loved it but then also kind of divided people i think it's fine for things to have their moment be excellent and then for us to go let's not milk this let's not continue to milk a franchise milk an ip that people associate with quality because it's not like bioshock is it's not like bioshock's call of duty it's not like bioshock's fucking like 30 million seller like the most popular thing of all time it's a critically acclaimed respected fucking ip and video game and i don't think that's something that you need to like try and milk for a movie in 20 years.
38:36Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Almost 20 years later. That's where we fall back to. That's what we do. That's why they're making a game and they're struggling to figure out what this game is. Just don't make the game. You have Judas. It's crazy. You had a great run. You had a great run. We can move on to something new. But no. We just have to go back to the IP that people know and hope that they'll buy for nostalgia steak. Mike, you watch sports. I love sports. Are there athletes that you look at and you go, man I wish you were tired with dignity yeah it's called they're still getting that check and you go wow and now you're here and you're tarnishing your legacy I mean that's what this is good for them they're getting that check for that but yeah at the same time we'll see if this makes it if this five months from now we say hey it's not going anymore we'll just go yeah that seemed about right that's what I do hope I would fucking love it the new Bioshock game came out and was excellent I hope Rod Ferguson gets it to the place where it needs to be I'm not saying that I don't want another Bioshock, I'm just saying I don't need another Bioshock.
39:36He's a finisher, he's gonna get in there and he's gonna finish his job.
39:38Blessing Adeoye Jr.:But I need that shit to be at least a 9 out of 10 If it's a Bioshock game and it's fucking 8 keep it, alright? It's Bioshock That's all I'm saying Story number 4, Fortnite will soon let you play the exact amount or pay the exact amount for items rather than buying more V-Bucks than you need this is tom phillips at ign i know this is a main story because it's a big fucking deal finally that's why i added it thank you if this was me and greg this would be we news jump change 200 vc off an 1800 vc purchase what have we been doing this whole time epic games has announced it'll add exact amount purchasing to fortnite rocket league and fall guys next month meaning that players soon won't need to top up their wallets with any more in-game currency than needed Offering in-game credit in set amounts is a common practice within many video games, with microtransactions often requiring players purchase a bigger dollop of currency than is actually required to purchase a particular item.
40:35Blessing Adeoye Jr.:As of October 14th, however, Epic Games titles will let players choose the exact amount of currency they require on PC, Nintendo, and Xbox consoles, and Android devices, iPhones, and iPads. I don't know why they phrase it like that. As well as via the Fortnite web shop. one conspicuous absentee here is playstation and while epic does not state why sony's consoles will not initially support the feature it has said it's working to make the offer available everywhere so good news unless you're on playstation what do we do a playstation that's a weird one on board this is a consumer first thing the customers would appreciate this i need people doing people who play people who do microtransactions on playstation because i'm out here buying micro transactions that much.
41:19Blessing Adeoye Jr.:You know, I've like, I've held down the fort. I'm not paying extra shit. He's holding down the fort for you. But you have before and you understand the problem. I'm cheap. So I'm like, stop charging 800 V-Bucks where I can only buy a thousand V-Bucks. Now I'm getting stuck with 200 V-Bucks. But you know why they do that. I get it. Because now I'm in the red. Because now you're in the red. Now it's like, fuck, if I want to break even, I gotta buy more. Does PlayStation, has it always been like this in PlayStation? Chat, cut right in. You're wrong. whatever it is like this has playstation always been like no we need we need increments of five dollars whatever it is because that's weird it'd be interesting because i think call of duty is just straight up the price tag now on their shop on the war zone i could be wrong but i think call of duty is you see the price tag it's 24 bucks you pay 24 bucks so i wonder if that's happening on playstation as well over there yeah i don't know if they're still doing coins or not i black out whenever i buy stuff so i get so excited that's why you're the authority on this That's why I look at you as the microtransaction correspondent.
42:19Thank you. And I want you to know, Bless, I'm putting together a big report for you. Yeah. A big PowerPoint. I'm working through all my sports games. Okay. Me and Roger got a little too crazy on our last one. I had to shut everything down and just focus on the numbers. But I am running through every sports game right now and their microtransactions. Good. I'm getting deep into it, Bless. I can't wait for you. I like talking numbers. I'm interested in this. This is what I want, Mike.
42:41Blessing Adeoye Jr.:This is Mike. I want a video essay from you. Okay. I don't know if you've ever made a video essay. I never have, but this could be a good PowerPoint. I think this, I mean, listen, you can freestyle it. You don't have to write it. Okay. You make a PowerPoint and you make a video and you look at Roger and go, you edit. I'm going to bring back the turtleneck for this. That's how important this one is to me. Because I need this. I'm bringing back the turtleneck. Mike, Fortnite making this change. That's big news. That's huge. That's really big news. But if I wanted something smaller, say the tiniest news I need to know about, where would I go?
43:11Blessing Adeoye Jr.:I take you to our last story, the Wii News channel, where we cover all the small news items you need to know about. Story number five is Wii News. Pocket Pair Publishing will publish the Borg-developed retro-inspired adventure game, Normal Fishing. When it launches for PC via Steam, the company is announced. A release date was not announced. Pocket Pair. Normal Fishing. Normal Fishing is the name of the game. Okay. It looks like, I mean, it doesn't even, 8-bit, 4-bit, like a very low-fi, low-bit fishing game here. It looks like a game that would be on my play date. I was going to say the same thing.
43:48Blessing Adeoye Jr.:I was also going to say play date. When you said all this, it was like, oh, is this a play date game? Like, what is this? Okay. Yeah. Interesting. Next up, Easy Delivery Co. launches September 18th on PC. This is one that I think looks a little bit cool. Easy Delivery Co. is a relaxing driving game with strange secrets. Chill out, make deliveries, and get to know the mysterious residents of the scenic mountain town, all while earning well below minimum wage. It gives me if a short hike was a driving game, like a driving simulation game. None of that gave easy chill vibes as they were whipping 60 down a mountain path, side skirting on a switchback.
44:26Like, none of this is giving easy vibes. It's giving high thrill, hold on, because we might die. Yeah.
44:31Blessing Adeoye Jr.:But I fucking love the art style. I love it. Yeah, yeah. Like, I love that, you know, I think we went from the indie NES, indie 16-bit style, indie, like, a lot of 2D stuff. And, like, we've been here for a while, right? This isn't the first fucking, you know, polygonal game. But I like that we're getting more takes on the polygonal game. Because this looks like it, specifically PS1 is what this gives me. I love it. And I think it looks great for emulating that style. More we can use for you. PS Plus Premium slash Extra Games for September 2025 have been announced. On Extra, you're getting WWE 2K25.
45:07Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Is that part of your list for microtransactions? Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. You're also getting Persona 5 Tactica, Green Hell, Fate slash Samurai Revenant, Crow Country? I think it's Crow County. I thought it was County, too. Yeah, I think that's a typo. Which also has another great PS1-inspired art style. The Invincible and Conscript. and then for premium you're getting legacy of cane defiance you taking advantage of any of these no i don't have premium or extra okay mike here's the thing thing that tell me about this here's the thing about me i'm the opposite of you i'm cheap as fuck mike after the initial like um when when ps plus premium and extra first like made that switch when it first came out they gave us codes or whatever for three months so we can cover it and review it or whatever and like ps plus i pay for my own like you know base um what's the first thing called ps plus essential i pay for my essential every month after that three month period like after it finished i was like i'm not paying for this shit no i'm not touching the shit what are we doing here okay no premium you on nso though i am on nso yes i do pay for nso because i use that more yeah i use that more than ps plus probably actually no i play online on playstation but yeah no i'm paying for for nso and i pay actually game pass they're pretty generous with like the game pass stuff but i think i pay for it for the most part okay but every now and then we get like game pass codes or whatever which makes it easier but i am paying for extra premium i'm sorry no i think i'm at like almost 20 years bless of having an xbox live account paying month Wow I think I'm at almost 20 years I want a badge Hey Xbox Let's talk for a minute I've been noticing some cool cats Out in the Xbox world have these fun profiles And when I go to them They got badges They're highlighting cool milestones On their Xbox stuff I don't have any badges I'm 20 years deep This means a veteran Where's my badge You know what I mean?
47:18Someone explain the badges to me on Xbox profiles. Let me know.
47:21Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Somebody in the chat said, Bless isn't supporting the industry. I don't think so. No, he's supporting the industry. He's buying games. I don't know if Sony needs all that. I'm on here on Steam. I'm buying indie games on Steam. Don't get me wrong. These repeated memberships? Because here's the other thing, right? It's not just video games. I can't. Every month I look at my streaming services, and I'm like, all right, HBO, cut that. Netflix cut that. I just finished Squid Game. I can't wait to cut the Netflix off. Wow. I said to myself, I can't cut these. I could never. I have about seven, and I'm using one.
47:57And I'm like, I could never get rid of Hulu. Why would I get rid of Hulu? Oh, my God. Peacock? Of course I got to have Peacock. And then you're like, Mike, have you watched anything? And I'm like, of course not.
48:05Blessing Adeoye Jr.:That's my thing. I'm like, I'm not watching anything. They canceled Mythic Quest. Why am I paying for that? Severance is finished for the last season. Get rid of my Apple. I'm providing it to my family. and like what would they think if I canceled it? You know what I mean? They'd be out. You're providing it to your family? I got to be the provider. Okay, well, that's fair. Netflix did the thing where I was leeching off of my family's Netflix and then they started cracking down on the location thing. Can we talk about that? Yeah. Because every now and then, because I've moved, right? Yeah. And it still thinks home is up there.
48:36It's like, well, no, technically home is here, but home is there. You know what I mean? And every now and then it'll be like, you're clearly not on the home Wi-Fi. Like, we're going to send you a code. They send me a code on the email and I keep watching I've never had it say like
48:49Blessing Adeoye Jr.:No more So like have people gotten the no more? Yeah I got the no more Also like if Netflix tried to check me I'd be like sir I'm giving you a lot of money You're gonna let me fucking watch Wherever in the world I'm watching You just change your home location I don't know how to do that Whenever it checks you just be like this is my home Oh then I gotta talk with the name I bought I'm not doing that I think it's just a button but then your family's not going to be able to watch it. That's the problem. It's like your family who's elsewhere, they're going to be struggling watching whatever. Or look into it.
49:22Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Because that's what happened to me, is I'm like, oh, well, I'm not going to change my home because my sister's paying for this. And so guess what? I'm only paying for Netflix when Squid Game is out. And then I watched the last season of Squid Game. Let the world heal. Help us Netflix. When the last season of Stranger Things happens next Christmas in November. Do you think you're going to be interested in that? Yeah, I love Stranger Things. I fell off pretty hard at the end there. Yeah. I'm just like man it's been a long time you know what I mean so I'm worried that like they're gonna be like hey staggered release three different times and it's like I don't know if I got the gusto yeah but like that's like only like a month and a half that's just two months of Netflix you know what I mean like that's what Thanksgiving Christmas and New Year I'm in I like some new things help me out more weird news for you they just want to get three months out of you they do remember that well that's why they're doing that one and a half but yeah that is why they're doing that for sure they're trying to get they're trying to get three out of you playstation's family app is launching today speaking of everything we just talked about uh lego voyagers adds a switch 2 version and finally rematch physical xbox series uh ps5 and pc versions launch on november 14th got a nice little game case that could be cool to put up i like that and that is it for we news uh before we get out of here let's take a look at some super chats uh shashwami shashwami shash no i got it right the first time shashwami shashwami says stopping by for a birthday tax love y 'all happy birthday shashwami my friend have a wonderful day have a great weekend mike fletcher says give bioshock to fallout 76 treatment what make it a online live service game yeah an mmo essentially i think they're just joking but okay i was thinking they're saying launch it trash and then try to build it up over the course of six years okay that's crazy i like that aaron line right sitting and says playstation gets a chunk of every digital purchase it's why they don't allow uh game code sales on third parties read that back one more time playstation gets a chunk of every digital purchase it's why they don't it's why they also don't allow code sales on third parties i think we know that it's in the conversation of why chunk but they're still getting the chunk of fortnite's purchases anyways yeah like if you're paying i guess a reduced chunk i think it must be a back-end thing slash like but that's why i want to know if other games have the same issue yeah because then it's like oh okay if this is consistent then it's this playstation being greedy well we just made up made up money so long ago in the game world yeah like it's hard to switch and like we love the made up money because then i get more money out of you the consumer and so it's just like why switch now they're probably saying yeah why switch now we're living uh we're living that's it uh for super actually no there's one more super chat uh nightlife writes in and says paramount is buying warner brothers the whole kit and caboodle breaking news stocks are over 30 is that true you think the world blew up here because we're showing borderlands and like the ac also kicked off at the exact same moment okay we're back i i assume whatever we see we see that stuff i assume is kevin's preview on the back end okay yeah sorry yeah it's me just prepping stuff for later because everything is exploding and i'm scared warner i'm tapping in warner bros paramount barrett in the background says yeah it's happening whoo huh oh what are we what everything's going everything's dark everything world's ending stay safe everybody hug your loved ones you know chill relax drink some coffee i don't know do do something that brings you comfort is what i'm I like that because things are weird out here.
