18So thank you to Carl Jacobs, Omega Buster, Delaney the Som Twining, and Lax Nomad. I want to talk about the banner week we had last week before getting into the show. Okay, give me a couple highlights. Well, it was a banner week for pre-recorded content. We had Ray Narvaez here of twitch.tv forward slash Ray and youtube.com forward slash Ray Narvaez Jr. Or no, it's Ray LMAO. You can just find Ray Narvaez And we pre-recorded two episodes of Game Showdown with him Okay Amazing episodes Yes So damn entertaining And then we pre-recorded an episode of In Review Because we are starting Resident Evil, the movies, In Review One of my favorite movie franchises I'd never seen any of them We had to pre-record it because Greg's going to be gone Or Greg is gone And, uh, wow Just a You're about to go on a roller coaster Just a stunning experience.
13That movie was an epic rollercoaster ride. Holy cow. I just, I didn't know. Like I knew from a couple of clips and I would see stuff on the internet, the laser room scene. I'd already seen that. But wow. Just like they, they let anybody act back in the day. It's just really stunning. They got a, they got a cast. Michelle Rodriguez is in it. Mila Djokovic. She becomes the household name because of that. The Joker. You know, I think she, oh, that's Kate Beckinsale. who then does Underworld. Yeah, different movie, different franchise. We were going back and forth at that time. And Jovovich. Jovovich.
49Jovovich, yeah. Well, she was fantastic. She's not out there getting MVP many times. Her and, of course, Angelina Jolie, childhood icons of mine for playing those roles. Now, you named two actors. Yeah, but that's Tomb Raider and, of course, Resident Evil. Fantastic movies back in the day for childhood, Mike. So, Michelle Rodriguez, Mila Jovovich. oh then i don't know yeah they got a cast it's stunning it is quite the stunning cast and uh yeah i think it's one of the funniest in review episodes we've done in a long time there were plenty of moments of the really like everybody's stomachs are hurting and we're not we're not making sounds because the amount of laughing we're doing so get ready for resident evil in review i'm so stoked uh to see the rest of this movie franchise and tim had only ever seen part one Oh, my God.
37Then she does. She did Monster Hunter, too. It just came to me. She did Monster Hunter recently. Mila Jovovich. Was that also? Recently, but that was also, that was like seven years ago, I think. That was seven years ago? Oh, no, no. That was within five. 2020. Okay. That's close. I mean, that's close. Okay. Now, was that also directed by Paul W.S. Anderson? Because he did the Mortal Kombat movie. He did the Resident Evil movies. He's a director of it all. He's the husband. movie he's the husband to her andy if you were on a trivia show right now and that was a question for you you'd get it right wow look at that nice no you're thinking of wes anderson okay he did the fox movie he did the that's still that's all he's known for just the fox movie yeah just that's all he did mike that's all i know did that one guy do the fox movie uh for now let's begin with what is and forever will be the Roper Report.
32It's time for some news. We have five stories today. A Baker's Dozen! Story number one. Did you thank our Patreon producers? Yeah. Oh, nice. I got caught up in the Fox. Before I got into the week of last, you know, the week that we had prior. story number one God of War Laofay's release has been announced this comes from YWP Wesley Yenpool at IGN and it's my birthday happy birthday to me everybody you're going to spoil the story you haven't even said it yet starting off the year February 16th 2027 is God of War Laofay's release date confirmation comes from the God of War Laofay panel at San Diego Comic Con 2026 which IGN attended a 2027 release date was expected for God of War Laofay after Santa Monica confirmed it would ship on disc.
29The announcement came after Sony said it would stop production of PlayStation discs from 2028, sparking a backlash. And that's it. That's the news. That's it. Bam. Good story. Wesley and Poole. Well, let's start right off the rip. Of course, happy birthday, Andy. Thank you. Birthday present. That's exciting. That's special. And most importantly, if we rewind time. Wow. What an announcement of this. 20 minutes of gameplay. during the summer and then to turn around and be like, hey, eight months down the road, you're going to be playing this February 2027. That's awesome. That's great. I think it confirms what a lot of us had been thinking even before any of the Sony disc or it would chip on disc.
08Before any of that sort of calamity dropped on the planet, I would say it kind of confirms what a lot of us had assumed. Whenever you release a 20-minute gameplay preview and then when asked, they said, it's going to be releasing sooner than later and we go oh shit is this possibly a 2027 game you know with sony santa monica it kind of makes sense with god of war ragnarok coming out in 2022 or three i want to say three i want to say three as well but i'm looking it up right now when did when was 2022 november 2020 yeah because it was the same year we were in the studio for the first That's right.
51Yeah. So, I mean, we're kind of on track time-wise. Yeah. I just, I guess for me, I did think this would be the big holiday banger. Andy, so I did think, oh, maybe this could be a November game next year. But guess what? February is becoming the holiday banger of spring. That's where everybody puts their games is in February now. We forgot all the other months. No January. What else? What else is February? Fable? Oh, can I tell you some more February games? Please do. It starts off with Tomb Raider, Legacy of Atlantis. Then we go into Persona 4, Revival, and Fable. Persona 4, Revival, coming out on my sister's birthday.
28Wow. 17th, the day after this. Many birthdays to all. Yes. Many big birthdays to all. So, I mean, this is definitely still dropping sooner than I would have assumed. I would have assumed late 2027 and something like that. Maybe fall. So you're like me. Okay, yeah, yeah. Yeah. And when does the fall begin, Mike? August, always. When the kids return to school. I hate you. The moment the school bell rings. It's the hottest month of the year. Weather changes. It doesn't. As soon as the school bells hit, you see the leaves start to fall. Get your ass in the glass. It's over. The leaves start to fall, and it's still somehow 103 outside.
05This is all fantastic news, and I'm very, very stoked for God of War Lao Fae. Yeah, and we keep the God of War news going. Why don't you hit me with story number two? Absolutely, because story number two kind of keeps on talking about this franchise. And this comes from Wesleyanpool as well from IGN. Next Kratos-led God of War game is coming after Laufe and connects directly to her story. Santa Monica Studio Head of Creative Corey Barlog has announced that the next Kratos-led God of War game is coming after God of War Laufe and connects directly to her story. Confirmation comes from the God of War Laufe panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2026.
43which IGN reported on live here. No further details were offered at the panel, although God of War Laofay now has a confirmed release date of February 16, 2027. We have no indication yet when this Kratos-led God of War game will come out or which platform it is targeting, nor do we have confirmation of its title or setting. During the panel, Barlog said of God of War Laofay that he wanted to see an extension and expansion of the world where the characters we meet are unexpected. Quote, Quote, everything we do and everything we are doing in the Fae game is a continuation of what came before and to set up and expand what comes next, he explained.
21He continues the quote. Frank has been around and we know Frank is the cube played by Jack Quaid, Jack Quaid, who met the Rizzler, met the Rizzler. What a banner week for Jack Quaid. What a banner week. Good Lord. I mean, he had a Superman panel. He had the freaking the boys panel or he had the God of War panel. and now he gets to meet the Rizzler, God. Please just bless me like you've blessed him, God. To continue the quote, Frank has been around since the beginning. It's interesting to see how to build this world out. Everything in the game is setting up for something so amazing. End quote. In June, following the reveal of the Fae starring next chapter of God of War, Santa Monica Studio discussed Kratos' future as the figurehead of its flagship franchise.
07Speaking in an interview, uploaded to PlayStation's YouTube channel. Barlog said that there's always going to be Kratos games, a position backed up later by a post from the company's official social media account, which stated that the studio had, quote, many more stories to tell with him. Let the band rest. No, there's no resting for God of War. This is the God of War team. They will continue making God of Wars, right? Kratos is exhausted. He looks tired. Like, can we get a cozy sim garden garden tending game? You know, I mean, this is all awesome news to not only. Well, the worries of anybody out there going.
48Damn, they're making the Laofay game next. Is Kratos done? And Sony Santa Monica is here to say, no, of course not. He's our dude. There will always be Kratos led games. What does this do for you, Mike? Yeah, I mean, of course, it's exciting, right? This is a team that has really honed their skills and nailed the Kratos gameplay and story. And this is what I expect, right? I did not expect them to deviate hard left out of nowhere and go, oh, we're putting down Kratos for quite some time. I think I'm more interested in, like, how do you now take Faye's story and now maybe bring it together with Kratos' story at the end of this, right?
22What will the end of this God of War Lafay story tell us? And then where will we go next? That's really exciting stuff because they have a pretty awesome world that they're working with. They're introducing a whole new set of characters. And how do you kind of blur the lines and get everybody together? I think that's going to be pretty cool stuff. That's also now three God of War projects coming out with the God of War remasters, God of War Lafay. And now, of course, we know a Kratos-led game is in the works as well. So that's all exciting stuff. What I would love for them to kind of name for us is like what this saga is called.
58because if there's always going to be Kratos games, Kratos will always exist in every future property and product that they put out. The quote from Corey Barlog saying, everything in the game is setting up for something so amazing. That means that you are setting up for a possible ending, not to Kratos' story, but just an end to whatever this saga is. And maybe we'll come up with a name for it. You know, I think of like the Infinity Saga and all those things with the MCU. When we talk about God of War 2018, going into Ragnarok and then going into Valhalla, the tremendous roguelite. If you haven't played the Valhalla roguelite for God of War Ragnarok, the homie Eric McLovin on Twitch was playing, had just finished Ragnarok and was like, I'm ready to move on.
47And I was like, if you haven't played Valhalla, play it. Valhalla is not just a standalone roguelite, mindless, whatever. there's like so much cool story and okay and a great epilogue dude it is freaking fantastic and it's one of those where i'm like they should have charged at least 10 bucks for this because there's so much quality here but yeah so to go from 2018 to ragnarok to valhalla to now laufe in 2027 whatever the next god of war game is that will be continuing the laufe story and most likely have ties to a lot of past iterations and past entries to the game what is all of this going to be for where does it go to where are we headed story-wise game yeah what is your end game when do you expect a reboot let's just say when do you expect this end game andy do you think it's this next kratos sled story is it a couple down the road how long do you think you would really go with this team well we know that they aren't beholden to things need to be a trilogy right with god of war 2018 and then god of war ragground they're like no we're fine with this being a two a two entry story and that kind of like ends that little chapter or whatever but they know they by no means are like well you're gonna make something epic it has to be a three-parter or whatever they're like it doesn't really matter at this point so whatever the next god of war game is maybe one more and then this but it's like jesus will be 60 years old by then yeah yeah absolutely nuts let's flip it are you do you roll your eyes do you go ah more God of War and Kratos.
19I want Sony Santa Monica to branch out and try something different.
25I always want people to make other stuff, but then because they take so long to make, I get sad knowing, well, nobody else is going to be able to make this. And that means I'll go real long without getting these, right? If these were episodes of TV that could maybe happen annually or something like that, then I'd be like, oh, that's fine. And he took a year off to go do whatever. But it's like, realistically, we're talking when that, like, let's say Laufei wasn't coming out for another three years or something. I might feel a bit more of like, damn, once that comes out, then the next Kratos thing won't come out for another five years or four years or whatever.
05It's a long time without a Kratos game if you were really, like, champing at the bit to have Kratos lead your video game. I on one side I'm like I always want my artists to do stuff that they prefer and on the other side I'm like I love when my artists are employed and making money doing the popular thing and it's it's easy to roll your eyes and go man they're really just kind of shitting out sequels but we've seen what this team can do with sequels and it rarely ever feels like you're just kind of trying to you know just make that dollar you're going to be as creative You're going to be as good and creative as possible.
44And again, I love it when my games industry employees are employed. I love for them to have jobs. I love for that sort of safety net there of Kratos. But again, I felt that way. When there were some people kind of feeling that way about God of War Laufey going like, oh, they're doing another game like this. Why can't they do something else or whatever? And I totally understand that. And then when I watched the God of War Lafayette gameplay, I'm just thinking, damn, nobody else can do this. Nobody else can give us that. They could try, but like the action of the one shot camera move that never cuts, like that is so Sony Santa Monica by this point that I would.
30I didn't realize how much I was missing this until I saw the trailer. So like I am so pumped for whatever the next thing is going to be. I'm so pumped for God of War Lafayette. looks absolutely fantastic story number three microsoft says it's working to fix a major xbox outage affecting library sign in and game launch this comes from wesley inpool at ign wyp putting in the work at ign if you're having trouble with logging into xbox you're not alone it's suffering this sounds like a it sounds like a like some sort of mental health hotline or something Like that. Retile dysfunction. You're not alone.
1180 % of men go through this. It's suffering a major outage that's affecting account and profile sign-in, viewing games on the store and playing games. In a post on social media, Microsoft acknowledged the issue, which began earlier today, July 27th, and said its teams were working on it. Quote, just checking in on the game library sign-in and game launch issue, reads a tweet issued just before 1 p.m. UK time. We know this has been going on a while, and appreciate your patience while our teams keep working on it. End quote. Microsoft will want to sort this outage out sooner rather than later with Halo Campaign Evolved set to launch proper on July 28th and after three days of early access for premium edition owners.
51The Xbox outage comes less than a week after Sony's PlayStation Network went down in similar fashion. The timing couldn't have been worse for Sony, which is operating amid a backlash to its decision to kill physical disks for new PlayStation games in 2028. Critics said not being able to play some owned games because of online services going down was yet another reason why an all-digital future is unwelcome. Did you hear anything about this outage? Does it happen, Mike? Well, of course, it was happening while we were sleeping. Yeah. Right, so this is more on the UK side of things during their early afternoon.
25I was still sleeping at this point, but I am on my Xbox status right now in the big four, of course, accounts and profile, store and subscriptions games and gaming and apps and mobile are all experiencing major outages so we're still experiencing that right now as this team works to try to correct the issue and uh obviously i mean wesley infield makes a lot of great points you want to get this shit tight and get this shit ready before the big halo launch i mean this is a big one right it's going on to game pass now it's the official launch we had pre-release last week now you're putting it on Game Pass where a lot of people want to dive in.
03And so, yeah, your goal is to get on this as fast as possible. We've seen this many of times before between the big three, all experiencing outages and different issues here. And it's one of those of like, as we step closer and closer to that all digital future, these are the problems that we will face, right? Out of nowhere, you might go down for 10 to 12 hours, maybe a day or more. And that just really sucks because you can't access anything and you can't play. That's not what this is all about. When your gaming experience is beholden to the status of an online architecture, an online system, it creates a lot of problems for people.
41When the power goes out and you're like, get the candles out, I guess we're reading a book. Yeah, bust out the choose your adventure books. Yeah, quite a bummer. We hope that people are able to weather this storm. Yeah, it absolutely sucks. especially I mean we know there's a lot of people that whenever there's a large a release coming right there's some you know massive game coming out and we know the amount of people that will call off work for those three days or two days or whatever and say like man this is going to be a holiday for me I'm going to be playing the show with my homies and this is you know just throw away all the responsibilities and for an issue like this to kind of just throw a wrench into the whole process really sucks.
27There's only one day out of this calendar year that matters the most, that this shit can't happen. That's November 19th, when GTA 6 launches, okay? The world will be real uptight if there's any sort of disruption or outages. There will be fights in the streets. Andy, if there's any complications during this launch week slash weekend for GTA 6, that's when you would really hear the uproar people would be going crazy and you're i mean you're currently giving you know people ideas people are getting ideas of like when's the next thing we can plan one of these like big attacks or whatever um i have a super chat here from ultra hyper jdub who says with a five or sorry with a ten dollar super chat says birthday tax for my beautiful wife amber snowmike mike you are her favorite oh thank you happy birthday to amber shout out it's mike and andy in the morning bringing you a smile yeah happy birthday amber five dollars super chat from john hub says snow bike mike my mount rushmore of indie games are shadow complex mask or mark of the ninja yep and tunic and two okay you gave me three you get three where's the other one yeah you gotta give me one more but i do like that tunic up there tunic getting some love tunic so damn you like tunic a lot what an impressive game that record guy with a ten dollars super jazz is mike and andy looking clean as hell.
51He's got a great haircut right now. He's looking good. I showered this morning. Fantastic. It's a rarity for me. Oh, really? Yeah. Lately, I've been waking up. I get on the, I do the treadmill. Yeah. And then, you know, yesterday I had one of those, what if I just stayed in bed and slept all day? Hey, now. I noticed that. It's like, am I depressed? I mean, I don't know. I was worried you were sick. I was going to text you. I was going to be like, do you need some soup? It was one of those I was just in a hole. You know what I mean? I slept all day, slept all night, slept all morning. Legitimately like over 30 hours of sleep probably over the weekend.
29Like absolutely nuts. Woke up this morning, got on the treadmill. I love it. And usually I'm like, when I shower the prior night, I don't want to take a shower in the morning because it takes longer to do my hair because I'll have to like dry it and stuff like that. So in the morning, I usually what I do, I have these little small trash bags, put them on my head instead of like a shower cap. It's a little small trash bag. Oh, okay. Why don't you just get a shower cap? Because I have the small trash bag. You put the small trash bag on your hair. Yeah, on my head. So it doesn't get wet. Right. So you don't have to redo your hair.
59Yeah, correct. Oh, okay. So it's a lot easier to manage in the morning. Yeah, I like that. Because at that point, it's like, it's still dry. Okay. I don't have to worry about, like, doing a whole little thing. Yeah, I'm a twice a shower day guy. I mean, I'm starting to become more and more like that as I've been doing the morning treadmill walks. And I don't want to be sweaty and stinky going into work, you know? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Did you ever go to school stinky after you would work out and do athletics? No. Because I never showered at school because I was always just like, I don't want my wiener out there.
28Only one person showered at school. Shout out to Will P. Will P. He was also the biggest kid out of all of us. Was that a promise by him? Will P. Will wasn't afraid to step in there. Will was like the kid who was like 6 '5", 240, and everybody was like 5 '4". Okay. Okay, yeah, we don't want to step into this. Okay, gotcha. Will didn't give a shit. Yeah, there was a couple people who would do the morning showers, like, after athletics and go back to class. I was like, I'll be stinky. I don't want my wiener out there. No, we weren't working out that much like that. No, not at all. Okay, gotcha. Unique Technique says, oh, shit, did someone gift me a sub?
04If you did gift a sub, we appreciate your generosity. And if you got a gifted sub today, say thank you because you don't have to watch ads for 30 days. I have a super chat here from Mellow Fellow. Hello, an amazing indie I want to shout out, especially with Andy here, is Stone Machia. Stone Machia? Machia? It's an incredible Souls-like, focusing on pairing and has a killer soundtrack. I've never heard of that in my life. Have you heard about the new Souls-like game? Which one? Dino Blade. Oh, I've seen plenty of it. Have you played it yet? I mean, I haven't played it yet. You're our FromSoft guy.
35When are you going to play this? I don't know. I don't know. Dino Blade. Playing Red Dead Redemption 2, I'll tell you. I'll tell you what, I got that TB, started coughing a bit more. Oh, it's a cool little chess piece guy. We've seen this before. Have we? Yeah. I don't know. This is one of the showcases we saw. Might have been a PlayStation show. I don't think I've ever seen this in my life. It looks kind of funky. I don't know if I like it. How's Dino Blade, though? You haven't played it? I haven't played Dino Blade. I'm going to play it tomorrow night. Okay. Judge. Epic open world with a$5 super chat says, at KF Top 100.
13Will we be able to get a pick with Mike and the Xbox sign? Got tickets for every day. Super excited. You know what? I'll bring the Xbox sign in. That's a great idea. I love that. That's a solid idea. Will that be part of your giving shit away? Oh, the Snow Mike Mike Take My Shit Emporium. Yes. You know, I don't know if the Xbox sign at this moment will be part of the Take My Shit Emporium, but there will be other items. But it's not off the table. Yeah. But it has crossed my mind, Barrett. If Top 100 was next year in January, I would say higher chance. I don't regret many things. Okay? I might regret this purchase.
50Sometimes I look at it and I go, fuck. Damn it, Mike. Really wish I could take that one back. You know what? Really? You know, that's one. But, like, I am pumped about it. No, you're not. No, you're not. Stop lying. We'll take a bunch of kind of funny top 100 photos with it. It'll be fantastic. Stop trying to convince us. You're trying to convince yourself as well. I have a super chat here from Nicholas Turnberes who says, have y 'all seen the chat about massive crashes with Halo Combat Evolved on PC? I have not. I played all of it on PC so yeah, I didn't experience any of that. I haven't seen it.
Read the full transcript
29Yeah, I had no issues on PC either. My only issue was those long ass loading times. Longer than I would have assumed. What's going on here? There were some awkward moments where the cutscene would end and it would just go right to a black screen and it would just take long to load i'm like we got to get this moving yeah 100 um aaron lime with a five dollars super chat says shout out to the sony blackout people to the to the sony blackout people have planned for a whole week in august maybe just cancel your sub instead that'll hurt sony more lol sony blackout are you talking about the internet shutting down about their services yeah i don't know i'll need more your service in August?
08I'll need more uh Aaron Lime, dive us in I don't know about that one Story number 4 Final Fantasy 6, 8, or 9 remakes would need even more games than the Final Fantasy 7 trilogy Yoshi P warns This comes from Khan Saren at GamesRadar Careful what you wish for, Final Fantasy fans Potential future remakes of other games in the series would probably require even more individual parts than the Final Fantasy VII Remake Trilogy, at least if they were remade in that same style, according to Final Fantasy XIV's Naoki Yoshipi Yoshida. The MMORPG's director said as much during a panel at FanFest Berlin, with Final Fantasy VII Remake lead Naoki Hamaguchi also in attendance, warning folks that the wait for an entire remake of Final Fantasy VI, for example, would be even more painfully long than what we've become accustomed to.
08Quote, Of course I understand the feelings of the players, but you gotta think about it. Look at Final Fantasy VI. It's such an incredibly huge game. The scale is just immense. End quote. But the same argument is true for the other games in the series, like Final Fantasy VIII and Final Fantasy IX, he adds. Quote, So of course, now because you are working on the Final Fantasy VII series, I do get that people would be asking for remakes of other titles. But if we did remake those other titles, we'd probably end up having to release them in four or maybe five installments, end quote. Final Fantasy games used to be absolutely huge in their scope because the developers could render everything in excruciating detail as they can now.
47Or they couldn't render everything in excruciating detail as they can now. Nor did they need to. Final Fantasy 6 was able to fit 14 playable characters, a huge world map that dramatically changes throughout the adventure, and countless epic fights onto a humble SNES cartridge. You can now imagine how doing all that in a game with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's production value would be tricky. I mean, yeah. Could I have a counterpoint? Of course. Not every remake needs the production value of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. and i think if you you would still excite a lot of fans but i think if you came out at a lower bar for what the scale is then you're obviously going to disappoint a lot of people and that's my rebuttal to your rebuttal my rebuttal to that rebuttal is that not everything needs to be uh graphic fidelity pushing all of that and maybe like we used to back in the day with uh weaker hardware with hardware limitations.
48Maybe a fun thing to do with a remake is to do something more unique with art style and visual fidelity that isn't just what Final Fantasy VII Remake and Rebirth do. And my rebuttal to you because I heard your voice get a little louder there and you started talking a bit more angry than me. Okay, and then my rebuttal to that rebuttal is that I love you. My rebuttal to everybody's rebuttal. No more remakes. Okay, we're back. We're back on the normal train, okay? We're back to just getting the numbers going up. I mean, remakes get the numbers going up, though. We're not in Final Fantasy 20. I'm done.
19Oh, you want the number count of Final Fantasy, not the. But no, I mean, you're hearing it straight from the team, right? Hey, if we were to go back, it would take a lot of time. It would take a lot more games than what you're seeing with Final Fantasy 7, right? And so it'd be very interesting to see what they do next, right? Do they look at one of these older beloved Final Fantasy titles and go, hey, this is the one. Let's go for it, right? And now we set off on what could be a seven to 10 year, 12 year journey of four different parts of a game, five different parts of a beloved one. I think we saw with final fantasy seven, that was special.
56They did a great job with this. And I'm sure if you're a diehard final fantasy fan, and also if you like money, right as a corporate side of things, you're probably saying, okay, where do we go next with this? What is the right choice here? Cause as I just brought up, there's number, There's a bunch of titles here that maybe deserve that love, but which one's going to make the most money right off the bats? Yeah. I would, I'm seeing some people in the chat agree with you and saying like, make new games. And yes, you as the kind of funny audience feels that way. Yeah. But the general public does not put their money where their mouth is.
35Final Fantasy 16 did not sell as much as square would have hoped. Final Fantasy 7 remakes and things like that they see the money getting printed from that and that's what it comes down to newer iterations just aren't selling as much as going back to the old well and doing what's comfortable and seeing that making people get excited about their nostalgia is what is making more money than not and until more people I'm not saying people in the chat are not putting their money where their mouths are but the general public who I would say arguably aren't really angry about remakes because they're the ones spending money on a lot of you know these sort of grabs for nostalgia until that happens you're going to see a lot more people trying to do remakes and that's just kind of how it works yeah we talk about going back to the well the IP that is known the beloved games that people want to return to and they want to spend their money on because yeah i want to see my old nes game now look bright pretty and super awesome on my xbox whatever you know and so there's going to be that it's an interesting juggle on the business side of things right where is the new entry title where is the next remake what do we do we ever take this down and just do a simple turn-based old school style game right and make it a smaller scope and scale that's questions they're asking every single day in the room right now of like, where are we going to do next year?
07How do we use our time appropriately so we don't have a mega miss and cost ourselves millions of dollars and have to lay off half of the staff, right? That's a huge part of all of this. Now, what I love for them to do what Barrett said and not do, not need it to be a five-part, everything cutting edge. We've seen that, I mean, arguably things haven't been as cutting edge as they can because we've seen modders recently show how the game can really look like with amazing lighting and things like that. But if they were able to do a clear obscure style thing where the combat is still turn-based, but you have some more active parts of the combat, I think that could be fantastic.
48And if you also say, no, we're not going to just let you run everywhere. We're going to make these zones a lot smaller. We're not going to try to scale up these zones to go, wow, this is what I always imagined the next gen version of this game would be. I think it could just be, you know, I think it could just be a fairly closed off zone and have invisible walls and just say, yeah, but it looks really, really pretty. And you should take that and accept that. And no, we don't need as funny as I was watching cloud on a segue. We don't need the segue mini game. You read my mind. I was just going to say, we don't need cloud on a segue.
24We don't need to play that Rocket League soccer ball game with Red 13. We're all right. No, we needed that. That was pretty dominant, though. You know, we can skip that kind of stuff. That was a great mini game. Let us know what you all think in the Super Chats about what you would like to see from future Square remakes. Because remember, if you don't pay for the things you love, they go away forever. And because of that, I want to tell you all about a word from our sponsors.

51Such a great question from a lot of people in the chat asking, did Alex ever respond? Free Alex. Alex, where are you? These are very good questions. Because for the Gamescast next, um bless and oh snap that alex bless and tim will be doing a shit list where they rank um the the top influential games of all or they they react to a list at the top influential games of all time but part of that games cast is that i was going to be in the lab drawing the character art winner commission thing that we're doing for the games cast intro if you watch the videos live on youtube or if you just you know watch them live here on twitch or whatever and you've ever seen the intro for the games cast it's all of us in 8-bit form that i've drawn all of us and we had shout out to nick wozniak one of the animators for um for yacht club who's animated on shovel knight and mean of the hollower animated us and doing a little cool character intro well one of the ways that we were like how can we raise funds for our company i said you know what let's do one where i will draw a kind of funny community member based on however whatever it is that we you know gauge whoever wins it and i think the prize is like or the way they win whoever gives most patreon subs so person named alex won the giveaway so i'm theoretically going to be drawing alex as whatever video game character they want me to and then we put you into the gamescast uh intro for the month and you get to see your character up there with our squad and you're Kind of up there in the character select screen.
30You're going to put them as the big bottom one or just the top side? You will get selected down there. Yeah, you will pop up at the bottom and then you kind of go back up or whatever. But we have yet to get a response from that person. Well, maybe Alex saw it at the end of the month. Well, I mean, an email was sent out sometime maybe close to two weeks ago, maybe a week and a half ago or something like that. And so I'm at a point now where Joey Noel, if you're listening, we have to figure something out because I was supposed to be drawing somebody. The next episode of Gamescast, which is in about 20 minutes.
08OK, so either we find somebody else or Nick Scarpino said, I will become. Yeah, he will be a vessel. He said, I will like I will select something and which is like something I don't want to do. So we'll have to find. I bet you Alex is out there. Alex is listening right now Just didn't check the right email Alex if you're out there listening Please check your email Check your spam folder We want to draw you, we want to get you into this intro And then also If you're also listening, give me like Three different characters, because you might give me a character I'm like that won't work here, I don't think that's You know, that style of art Won't really fit there I want to be the Forza driver Just a dude Like a really bad rendered dude not looking great looking closer to 8-bit than like an actual real character Alex if you're out there please listen please respond and please let us know what you want me to draw you as I see a super chat from Alex Alvarado who is not the Alex we were talking about but says all I want is a remake of Infamous I think about a lot of those PS3 games that are just stuck I'm a prototype guy Man, I fucked with Prototype Heavy.
22No, you know what? I fucked with the Darkness Heavy. The Darkness. The Darkness was my shit. A Super Chat here from Griffin with a$5 Super Chat says, Mike, I'm celebrating my bachelor party in Tahoe this weekend. Any recos? Also, shout out to my brother Ryan, whose birthday is on Friday. Wow. Hey, happy birthday, Ryan, to the squad out there to go have a great time. Please do the following. Rent a boat. You're going to have a great time. Get out on the lake. Have a wonderful afternoon in the sun, swimming, just ripping the boat across the lake. Then do me a favor. Come on back. Head to the Lucky Beaver.
56Open 24-7. That's where you want to go eat. The Beaver. The Beaver. What's good about that? What are you getting at the Beaver? Oh, my God. The Beaver. I love the hamburgers. I love the tater tots. The ham beaver. They got great steaks. Yeah, I would say the Beaver's just got it all. Beaver's open 24-7. They do breakfast and, you know, lunch slash dinner. Americana. Yeah, yeah. Very like very sports bar. It's a sports bar. So it's that kind of vibe. Sports bar with breakfast? Well, yeah, of course, because it's at the casino, so it's open 24-7. And like, it's a solid breakfast. It's not bad. Blueberry pancakes?
31No, no, no, no. Why would you make that face in reaction to that? Why is that such a crazy thing to ask? I don't think they're doing blueberry. They might give you regular pancakes. Okay, gotcha. I just don't think they're expanding that far deep because you got to think like the The kitchen space of the Lucky Beaver, not that big. So you can't be having a bunch of add-ons that are only going to be one small window. Unless we have a blueberry something at dinner. Blueberry test, yeah. Yeah, I got to have a bunch of blueberries in there. You're a blueberry pancakes guy. I don't need the blueberries in the pancakes, but I love the...
05So you just like some fruit on top of your pancakes. I love the toppings. No, no, no. I love the... I don't want to just toss a dry fruit on top of the pancake. Yeah, yeah. People do that. I want the... What's it called? A jam? It's kind of like a jam, yeah. I would say it's closer to a jam than not. I'm a chocolate chip pancakes guy. Is it compote? Every time I say it, I want to say compote. I don't think it's that. But, yeah, I don't know exactly how to pronounce it. Yeah, I'm not a banana or blueberry pancakes guy. I don't like things in my pancakes. I'm very similar to you. But I like chocolate chip pancakes, so I'll do that.
39Okay. But I'll take some fruit on top. Some whole fruit. Some sliced up strawberries. A couple sliced up bananas Some blueberries to go on top of that Have you ever had the compote stuff? Yeah, oh yeah, I've tried that But I just don't, no I'm a syrup guy, basic Syrup? I do, but man I just like It quickly overstays its welcome Really? Okay After a couple of bites of a pancake I always think of The Mitch Hedberg joke, stand-up comedian, who said, stand-up comedian, you want to start strong, you want to end strong. You don't want to be like pancakes where, like, midway through, you're just fucking sick of them.
23And it's so true. Pancakes, I think, is the easiest to kind of just get really exhausted of and just be like, oh, man, I just feel like garbage already. Probably go with the short stack. I like waffles better, though. French toast, waffles, pancakes is my recommend. French toast, pancake. No, no, I'm sorry. Waffle, pancake, French toast. Bam. I like that. What about you, Bert? French toast. all the way. What kind of waffle? Ooh. Is it like the flat one that they have on like the little drop down or is it a bell and a waffle? It's a waffle. If it's flat? You've seen the waffle. You've gone to a diner and seen these kind of waffles.
58But it can't be flat if it's a waffle. Yeah, it can be. So with no pockets? It's got little baby pockets. But that's not flat. That's flat. No, but there are there's elevation in there. Yes, it's fine. There's elevation in it. No, that elevation is like that much. That's elevation. I'm talking about a Route 66 diner waffle. It's like popping up that much. If liquid can sit in a pocket, that's the elevation. All right? We cannot down talk about the elevation right now. If there's no elevation, it's not a waffle. Sometimes it doesn't feel like there's any elevation. Yeah. I can't believe this. I can't believe this.
46Technically no elevation, but you can still dig under, you know? Yeah. Think about that. Thank you, Born Again Gamer. If it has topography, it's a waffle. But usually just syrup. I don't need anything else on my waffle. Although that one time we, again, the infamous breakfast with James and Elise Williams and Chris Anka and Kevin A. Wasn't that special? What? How special that breakfast was. Oh, I thought you said it wasn't that special. I was about to slap you across the face. I was so offended right there. Um, the, the waffle that I had, had like some banana stuff in there with the syrup. It was a fucking amazing experience.
23North Hollywood. No ho. North Hollywood, man. It's cool. North Hollywood was the coolest man. We fit in there. Well, yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely. Uh, we're going to read a couple more super, it was a great episode of games daily. Cause honestly, we've been done with the stories for quite some time. Yeah. I'm just going to keep track. We read through those stories really fast. Yeah. I mean, you know, stories one and two were really just one story. I don't know how we and then story number five is actually we knew so it was just really two three and four that stories uh but hey better than layoffs chat better than layoff hey we'll take an xbox outage over layoff exactly felix in the super chat well don't say that you're gonna have the xbox fans coming after you you say something like that uh felix in the uh in the youtube chat says put it up on the poll waffles french toast pancakes now i'm worried about french toast stealing the votes from either or dude you get a nice crispy french toast piece it's the bomb man you're saying french toast is the third party of this uh duopoly system i it's the jill stein no constituents just tries to you know fundraise every four years to fill their pockets that's fucked up i can't believe you would i can't believe you bring french toast down to the level of jill stein and french toast that's fucked up gonna come out to me Juan Pedro with a$5 Superjust says, happy birthday to you.
39I don't care. I don't care. Good luck. That's a Dan Levitar. I don't care. Good luck. Is that a Stephen A. Stephen A. Smith. Yeah. Happy birthday to him. Going to Philadelphia. LeBron Brown. I'm going to talk about it. It's games daily. Come on. I didn't want him to go to Philly. It was one, not even on my radar. Two, of course, I'm a homer. I wanted him to play with Steph Curry here at Golden State. for the sign off, the send off. We're going to pick, we'll pick Philadelphia over Cleveland, over Miami, over just staying in LA. I would rather him go to Miami. Honestly, like go somewhere that makes sense for you to wrap up your career, go home or go to the place you left home for.
23But he chooses Philly. Philly. You want me to trust the process for the 15th year? It's, it's a weird one. I've been trusting the process since 2007. It's a weird, well, okay. Okay. Hold on. But the process has been that it worked out, but Embiid is never healthy. Like they got the thing, you know, they, they, the process was tank to get Embiid and they got Embiid and he's been hurt a lot of his group, but when he's not hurt, he's one of the best players on the planet. And he looks at that and he says, all right, I have, uh, I have Jalen Brown. JB. I like JB's game. I have Jalen Brown. Okay. I'm not mad at that.
00I have a fucking, uh, what's his face? Um, Tyrese Maxey. Yeah. Very, very good. But we see, we've seen Tyrese Maxey become a playoff riser. Yeah. Much like the homie Devin Vassell for the Tantoni Spurs playoff riser. How are you in the playoffs? And how do you go against like the, all of the, you know, the hate of the crowd. How do you deal with all of the, just the, the, the enormity of the moment. Tyrus Maxey is a playoff riser, I would say. And then you're adding LeBron to that mix, and you just got to hope that Embiid can stay healthy. Embiid missed 38 regular season games last year. A lot of games.
44That's a lot of games. Over the last several years, it's probably a lot. I bet. That's a lot of games, Andy. It's an AD situation again. If this guy gets hurt at the wrong time of the season, this is a bust. It's just crazy. the, like he, it's not quite AD because AD is all Anthony Davis is always a ligament issue. Yeah. I tore this. I broke this. This is sore. This is, you know, with MB the dude had, Oh my bad. He played 38 games. Oh, that's bad. That's really bad. Andy. He played 38. My apology. He played 38 games. Chat. What, what is that? That's not even close to half the season. What did Embiid go through like last season in the playoffs?
28Bell's palsy. Like he just sometimes has weird shit happening to his body. It's similar to Tyrese Halliburton. He's missed 490 games in his career. So much. 490 games. The first couple were a majority of that. The first couple seasons were a majority of that. And LeBron James, the king, the kid from Akron, Ohio, the man that went down to South Beach. The star of Space Jam 2. Came back to the city. Won him at the home court. Then went down to LA. Won there. He says, you know what? I'm going to finish this historic career in Philadelphia. And he's not even getting paid that much. To go up against the New York Knicks, the Indiana Pacers.
11He looks at the squad and says, we have the best chance here. The Boston Celtics. By the way, the poll ended on the Twitch chat. 42 % of the vote Winning the waffle Come on Elevators elevate right here Elevators fucking elevate French toast in second Wow that's a French toast in second Just fine
39Here's the deal I'm still buying a Philadelphia 76ers jersey Of course you are I'm rooting on the Sixers this year I'm a Philadelphia diehard for the next two years. Let's go. Okay. They already had me at Jared McCain before they traded him to okay. And we saw what happened there. I became okay. See fan. So LeBron there. I'm back. I've always loved Eric snow. I've always loved AI. Shout out people that played 30 years ago. You're the biggest fraud of all time. Loved Andre Iguodala. Such a fraud. I've always been a Philly fan. They know that about me. Holy shit. Philly fans embrace me. I'm coming up.
18God damn. Eric Snow. Eric Snow. Huge Eric Snow fan. No loyalty. Kyle Korver? No loyalty. Huge fan. Huge fan. How long did Korver play there for? Maybe two years. Yeah. Maybe. Maybe. DJ Kento with a$10 SuperJet says, y 'all check out the indie music production game Offbeat. It's a great introduction to beat making and it's super cozy. would be great for a greg music stream i yes i have this was in our pr boxes it came out in early access i believe and it's it's a little like hold on we're looking at the video right now whenever the character gets into the little beat making thing it's very very cute art style we've seen this yeah but it's i mean it really is just it's a beat maker with a lot of cute little ways to kind of gamify it and learn how to do things so that you could likely hop into any DAW and kind of understand what the heck you're doing.
19That's probably good for me and Greg. Shout out to Erickson and Raja Bell, man. Raja Bell is the guy. We were all Sixers fans when they played the Lakers, though. Yeah, of course. I was rooting so hard for AI and the Sixers against the Lakers. And we'll be Sixers fans this year. It's going to be a lot of fun for the next two years. Also, he did, you know, he's got two years and then it's over. So now's your time to buy tickets. If you want to see LeBron Brown one more time, which most likely you'll buy a ticket with you and your family. You'll show up and he won't be playing and he'll wave to you.
