3:14Tim Gettys:Mikey you didn't fuck up I'm proud of you you did great in the intro

3:17Greg Miller:You know why it's because I'm not up right now You gotta catch me when I'm doing The mic you know what I mean I'm full 110%. It's Friday the 13th. We've had a long week. Greg's gone. Tim's gone. Nick Scarpino's at Starbucks. He's gone for most of the day. He will be here at noon. So Mike's energy is at like 92%. You got to catch him. I'll still run a marathon right now. I'll still go free to run if I wanted to. Do you really feel that way? Every day. There's never a doubt. There's never a moment. There's never a moment when the truth kicks in. Run a marathon any moment, right? Go one-on-one with Ant Edwards any moment.

4:00Greg Miller:Okay. I'll stuff that right back in his face. I get up. I'll get up. You know, you want me to do a one-on-one route against, you know, Darrell Revis? Easy. I'll do it right now. You know what I mean?

4:10Tim Gettys:What is the highest level player that you can't go 1v1 on? It could be basketball. It could be football. It could be football. Wherever you want to go. Oh, man. I mean, LeBron, of course. You can't go.

4:19Greg Miller:I will get one on LeBron. No, you can't. You put me in a game. No. I don't want to get LeBron. First to 11, I get one.

4:27Tim Gettys:That's gone from self-confidence to psychosis. I get one.

4:31Greg Miller:That's not a real thing that you can do. I want you to – and I mean it, Roger. I get one on any level. Guaranteed, I get one.

4:38Tim Gettys:How long are you getting the one? I get one point. But how long do you have to get that one point? Oh, I mean, give him 11.

4:46Greg Miller:Oh, wow. Give him 11. One to twos. Give him 11. I still get one. Holy shit. What can we do to put this to the test? I mean, that's the thing. It's like we got to probably get involved with like San Jose State, maybe SF State. Like, let's get on the hardwood there. Give me one of their best. I get two. I get two on them.

5:06Tim Gettys:Now, Chad, we have a huge audience of a lot of people from different levels in the world. If you know any professional or former professional basketball player, football player, soccer player, whatever. Yeah. Mike is challenging them right now. I'll give him one.

5:18Nick Scarpino:I became friends with Festus Azul. Fessiz Azili. There he is. I don't know his name. I don't know his name. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I can, however, text him right now.

5:29Greg Miller:He really much wanted to come. Fessiz Azili, former center for the Golden State Warriors. Oh. Put me in center field with Hunter Pence. I catch about four fly balls. I shag a couple balls. You know what I mean? That's easy, though. That's easy.

5:42Tim Gettys:This is worse.

5:44Greg Miller:Hold on. What is he doing in this scenario? Is he hitting the ball? He can hit him, or he can just be in the outfield with me shagging balls together. He's hanging out. Yeah, we're just catching pop flies. Yeah, that's easy. I mean, that's just a laid-back fun afternoon.

5:57Tim Gettys:That does seem a little bit easier than maybe going one-v-one, towing up LeBron James is what you're trying to get at. I've been preparing my whole entire life for that. What have you done to prepare? I'm wearing athletic shorts right now. That is quite literally like you can dress the part. That doesn't mean you can do the thing.

6:13Greg Miller:Well, you know, Roger, one day we'll find out. One day we will find out. Roger, it's Friday, February 13th. How are you feeling heading into the weekend? A little spooky, but then it gets romantic right afterwards. I love that. It gets romantic. It gets romantic. You have a loving fiance. What are you guys going to do this weekend? Anything?

6:29Tim Gettys:We're making some fresh pasta. I've never done that before. I've never actually made pasta by myself. So we're going to do that. We're going to have a nice little dinner, and then we're going to finish out the save the dates, start sending those out.

6:40Greg Miller:You're really grown, Roger. Oh. Woodworking, fresh pasta making. Okay. What will you do next? Wow. I love that.

6:48Tim Gettys:I like that those two are on the same levels. Yeah, that's pretty big. Okay, wow. I didn't expect that. I do a lot of things, maybe in this office, in life, whatever. Usually none of them get respect from you. I didn't expect me to say that I'm putting together some flour and some egg and some water. And we're making something nice. Okay, wow. What are you doing?

7:09Greg Miller:I got nothing.

7:14Greg Miller:I'll be playing my favorite games for a day of love.

7:17Tim Gettys:You know what I mean? Making love to the audience.

7:21Greg Miller:With your beautiful voice. I'm going to give it to you. And today we're going to give it to you with the kind of funny gaming news you need to know about. 7:53Greg Miller:Thank you, Carl Jacobs, Omega Buster, and Delaney the Psalm Twining. For now, let's begin the show with what is and forever will be the Roper Report. We have five stories today.

8:09Nick Scarpino:Oh, Baker's Dozer!

8:13Greg Miller:Story. A little toot. A little toot from that fog machine back behind me. Story number one, Sony's Santa Monica is developing more than just God of War Trilogy, it's claimed. Sam Sepiol at Insider Gaming. A new claim reveals that another title is in the works at Sony's Santa Monica alongside the God of War Trilogy remake, which could be Cory Barlog's game. There were many God of War titles rumored to be in development, including a multiplayer title and one set in Egyptian mythology. Out of all the rumored ones, the trilogy remake and Sons of Sparta got confirmed yesterday. However, there is one more title players have been curious about.

8:57Greg Miller:Cory Barlog's next game, for which we seem to have new details. During a discussion on Reset Era, Shinobi602 replied, nah, when asked, please, Shinobi, tell us that the God of War remake is not the Cory Barlark project. The insider then added that the game is, quote, not that far, bearing any delays, of course. He also added that the reveal of this project is expected to be this year. And given the quarter they're targeting, it's likely to reveal likely the reveal could be the May state of play or Jeff Keighley's Summer Game Fest. But Shinobi doesn't know for sure yet. Shinobi added that the reveal doesn't come.

9:46Greg Miller:Shinobi added the reveal if it doesn't come by then Sony Santa Monica may have either pushed the game's release or kept a shorter reveal to release window. That's all we know about the other Sony Santa Monica game at the moment. However, readers should take this information with a grain of salt.

10:04Tim Gettys:A little bit of salt.

10:05Greg Miller:Roger Yeah? We just got two God of War projects announced yesterday You're telling me there's more coming down the way?

10:12Tim Gettys:I am kind of I mean, I'm not baffled because we know that Corey Barlow has been working on something big that is a new, not a new IP, but feels like a new IP, which is what Jason Schreier said last time he was asked about this. So that could literally mean anything. But I'm a little bit surprised just because I did not expect the God of War remakes of all three of those games. Like that is a huge undertaking to remake three video games, right? From the ground up, you would, when you say the word remake, people start to think like, hey, you're thinking Resident Evil. You're thinking these massive games that are Silent Hill 2, right?

10:46Tim Gettys:These games that are going to take what we have, but just fully remake them from the ground up. We don't want a remaster. We don't want something that just looks a little prettier. We want you to fully rethink what you got going on there. So to remake all three of those games, which is not just one project, it's three projects in one, and then on top of that have their, you know, they wrote that game, but it's an other team making the 2D side-scrolling Sons of Sparta game. and then another project like that's they're kind of cooking over there I don't know how big that team is but it must be massive yeah it is

11:16Greg Miller:fun to see what they got going on there and you know what I really like Roger is more people playing in the God of War sandbox we always talk about these beloved franchises these eyes PIP and how much we want more of them how video games have been so big that it takes years upon years to create and now you're getting more out of that world which is always exciting right and of course the God of War trilogy remake has been announced way off, right? They were like, we're in very pre-production. So that is going to be sometime. And like you said, how big of a remake is this, right? Is this so from the ground up that it's going to be almost like a, oh, wow, it's a new game feel?

Read the full transcript

11:53Greg Miller:Or is it like, you know, a remake, but like a remaster? We'll see what the level is.

11:57Tim Gettys:Is it a deluxe remaster, like Dead Rising? How many years does that take, right?

12:02Greg Miller:And so, but on top of that, you get a shatter drop. Sons of Sparta drops yesterday. and yeah, when you have so many rumors of what could be Corey Barlog's game has always been out there. It's like, I saw that yesterday. I was like, is this Corey Barlog's game? No, it's not, right? So now we have more God of War games in there. When will it be announced? Well, Shinobi's is right. We're going to have a God of War year here, it seems like.

12:25Tim Gettys:Well, yeah, I mean, you would assume that what he's working on, Corey Barlog, is not a God of War thing. Oh, you think so? I mean, yeah, that's what Jason Schreier has been saying is that it's not a new IP, but it feels like one, right? So unless he's going, he's doing another basically God of War 2018 vibe within the God of War universe that is Atreus that feels so different from the God of War stuff. Maybe that's what he's hinting at, but I doubt it. This feels like this is something that is separate from the God of War universe that he's working on here. So I am interested, looking at Sony Santa Monica here, it's like, do they have another team outside of Corey and the remake team that is working on now another mainline God of War?

13:04Tim Gettys:Because he got to be working on them. you can't just have the remakes. We have to work on whatever Atreus' story is, whatever Kratos' story is. The third in that side. Yeah, exactly. We have to keep on working on that. So where is that in this pipeline? Like, I did not expect Sony Santa Monica to be this big. It's funny, because when you look at, like, the Pantheon, the Pantheon of PlayStation Studios, it's interesting because you have a Sucker Punch, right? Which is such a small studio in comparison to all these other studios that is working on one game at a time, working on one Tsushima, then Yotei, and they don't do any of this stuff.

13:37Tim Gettys:And then you have, you know, Sony Santa Maka, which is potentially working on, you know, three to four projects at one time. And it's really incredible what PlayStation is able to do here and the kind of different cultures that they're able to create. But, I mean, I am very, I think it would be kind of wild for the next, for us to do the remakes and not already be working on another God of War sequel in that Ragnarok era. Of course.

14:02Greg Miller:Have you jumped into Sons of Sparta yet? No, but you did. I did. I gave it about two hours. Had fun getting into it. I'm not the biggest Metroidvania fan. Sure. And this is an actual Metroidvania. Is it? Are you doubling back and stuff? I would call it a 2D side-scroller. It has a map very similar to a Metroidvania. I don't know if you're doubling back quite yet by unlocking things, but I'm going all around, Roger. And it feels like I'm in the maze, for sure. And I'm enjoying it so far. I thought at first... Go off, apparently. We should have played it together, is right. I thought at first it was kind of bland, but as I've gotten a little bit deeper into it, my engagement has grown.

14:41Greg Miller:My like and desire to play more of it has grown a lot, and I'm into it right now.

14:45Tim Gettys:Does it feel like a God of War game?

14:48Greg Miller:I mean, he's got the voice. He's telling the pre-Kratos story, right? So I'm into it. I think the first two hours in any Metroidvania is very early. Hey, you're learning the mechanics. You're getting lost in the maze.

15:01Tim Gettys:Does he feel like strong? Like he's kicking open chests and shit. He's ripping the tops off.

15:07Greg Miller:Okay. He's got a homie who's like, he's like, don't rip out that, that Cyclops's eyeball. We can just tell people. And he's like, nah, man, I'm doing this shit. He's kind of going crazy. He's kind of going crazy mode. Okay.

15:18Tim Gettys:Okay. I fuck with it.

15:18Greg Miller:There was a giant like metal bird that I fought too. Spears all up on its wings. Okay. It was die bombing me and stuff. It was pretty cool.

15:25Tim Gettys:Okay. Yeah. That's my thing is when I saw that whole trailer or whatever, I'm like, this doesn't look like God of War. Like when I think I got aware, I think about the blades. I'm thinking about like the frenetic action. I think you'll get the blades at the end. I'm sure you will. This is origins. Yeah. I'm sure we're going to have a flash forward or something where it's like, and then I had the blades and then I used the blades for a little bit in the end of game.

15:48Greg Miller:Aaron writes in and says, I think Bluepoint games will be involved with the trilogy by remake, allowing Santa Monica to do more.

15:56Tim Gettys:That makes sense. That would make sense. I'm interested as to why they wouldn't have said that. I mean, Bluepoint's in a weird, precarious position right now. They had a multiplayer game that was canceled. I don't know when. That seems like maybe last year, two years now. So yeah, they're in the ether. I don't know if they're working on their own thing, but that would be the perfect project for them if they were still doing remakes and stuff. But it seemed like for a little bit there, they're trying to do an original IP and work on something new. So I wonder if they're still doing that. But yeah, if that would be, I'm interested as to why, if that is true, why they wouldn't have said that yesterday.

16:29Tim Gettys:why that wouldn't be in a blog post why that wouldn't be in some type of hey this is what blue points also doing uh so that's why i'm a little bit on the fence about that okay and then

16:37Greg Miller:to wrap it all up here roger of course god of war we have new god of war of games but cory barlog the name it rings out people get excited what is your dream cory barlog project you kind of touched on some things that you want to see but like what is the dream that you would have

16:51Tim Gettys:cory barlog and a very talented team working that's a good call i don't i honestly don't know because i'm trying to think about we've been playing the game for the last few months of like What is that IP? Ever since Jason Schreier said that it is an IP, that it feels new or whatever. Yeah, I don't want... Honestly, if I were to just say general speaking, I would like him to do something that feels even more left field than a 2018 God of War. Doing that same vibe, but for a different franchise. Going through the Rolodex of PlayStation properties and picking one of them and being like, hey, I'm going to reinvent this for the next generation.

17:26Tim Gettys:I don't know what that is. Maybe it is a siphon filter. Genuinely, like maybe it is taking something that is a little bit more. Hey, this existed in this one sphere of time. People have fondness for it, but they don't really have that connection for it anymore. Let's make this into a, you know, Splinter Cell like let's actually go forward with it. Because Ubisoft's not doing it. Of course, every podcast I'm on, I have to talk about Splinter Cell. But something of that effect, maybe a medieval. Maybe he goes to medieval. Maybe he finally does it. I like that. Killzone.

17:54Greg Miller:Killzone would be a good one. Killzone is in there. Of course, we brought up Sly Cooper yesterday as well. but yeah you'd like him to revive revive something yeah yeah but it is interesting because it's sony

18:03Tim Gettys:santa monica right so they have their own legacy of games that they've made right with the god of war franchise and everything so it would be weird for sony santa monica to turn around and be like hey we're gonna take something from you know sucker punch and then now make our own version of it you know what i mean like that's never i don't think that's ever happened really uh within the the pantheon of i keep on saying more pantheon within the realm of playstation studios so that would be a fun little twist right there taking someone else's ip from another studio and trying it on their own. You can super chat away

18:31Greg Miller:and let us know what you want to see from Cory Barlog and the next Sony Santa Monica team. And also, are you playing Sons of Sparta? Yeah, congratulations to Blueprints, getting a lot of love. And Ghosts of Yote, congratulations to Erika Ishii, who, of course, absolutely killed it in that game and had a really awesome speech. So great job out there. Yeah. It was really nice.

20:55Tim Gettys:First was first. I love the way that they get super niche and specific with the awards categories. I always enjoy that. And it gives more love to different types of games, especially when you talk about technical achievement, Death Stranding 2, being able to hone in and focus on these very specific slices and parts of games. I think when you get a little too general, it's easy to be like, okay, well, When we get general, of course, Expedition is going to win everything. But when we get really niche, technical achievement, then Death Stranding can get a few wins, right? Because I think that is what's interesting about video games.

21:27Tim Gettys:It's so many different disciplines all in one. So it's very specific and nicher games awards when they're focused on these types of things. I really like. You watch the awards.

21:39Greg Miller:Yeah, I watch it every year, of course, to support Greg Miller, but also because we always talk about it, right? The game awards that Jeff Keighley puts on is for the fans, kind of, you know, by Jeff Keighley and his team for the fans, but like when you talk about awards and getting recognized and giving flowers and you always say, oh, well, I wish they got on the stage more and got to talk, right? This is the developers by the developers for the developers, right? And it is something special to watch. It's a fun show out in Las Vegas. Greg and Stella do a fantastic job hosting the show at the beginning, doing an awesome monologue about the state of the industry, and then you get right into the show, and it's fun, right?

22:16Greg Miller:I think in years past it goes till about 11 o 'clock it starts at 8 so it's about a three hour show this year they got it pretty tight it was like maybe two maybe two and a half so it felt good of like hey we're out of here at a decent time this is nice but i do love watching this i really love the ai as hall of fame every single year they pull out an incredible human being who does an awesome job with their team and in the video game development world and they shine a light on this person and they do a great job storytelling having a nice speech from one of their co-workers and then recognizing them and it's awesome to watch right like we got to learn all about evan wells and what he's done at naughty dog it's awesome stuff right working his way up then being one of the top dogs then retiring but still sticking around and helping neil druckman and being a mentor to him also playing the games and helping the team like it it's one of those where you're like you feel inspired watching and you're like this is really really awesome erica ishi stepping up and talking about corporations treating their employees fairly and taking care of people that make the games that we all love like you're like yeah hell yeah erica this is awesome get up on that stage like oh yeah it's a fun time for sure the vince sampella one was tough right it's sad it's saddening thing to see people come uh and then make an impact on your life and unfortunately go right and it's like that was a heartwarming touching speech there i think Todd Howard shows up.

23:42Greg Miller:Different people show up that maybe you know you don't know. Greg Miller acting a fool yelling at Troy Baker and Jeff Keighley is fun. Explain that. Why was he yelling to people? Well, you know, they came out and the room wasn't quite set and ready for the awards to begin. They were mixing and mingling. They were going table to table. Troy Baker, he's a good looking dude. He's a fun guy to talk to. He's snoozing. He's having a good time. And so when my main man, Greg Miller, and of course Stella Chung came out, it was time to go. People weren't ready. So Greg and Stella had to whip them in the shape, say, you know, let's go, you know.

24:17Tim Gettys:Great dream come true. Just yelling at everybody. Just sit down. Watch me. Watch me on stage, everybody. Incredible. Shout out that.

24:24Greg Miller:So, yeah, Roger, I really enjoyed it. I did like Ghost of Yote took home, I think, three, which is pretty cool to see. South of Midnight getting an achievement award in animation, I thought was special. They gave a really good speech about, you know, messing up the frame rate, right, and how we hold frame rates so important and special to video games. And then them being like, we're going to absolutely destroy that and do something different. I thought that was really, really cool on that one. Of course, Blueprint's getting two back-to-back, right? Like, that was really awesome. A lot of games that didn't get love at the Game Awards got love here, and that's usually how it goes.

24:58Greg Miller:It's like you see two different sides of the industry there, which is funny. You get to see a lot of faces come up and talk about their games and share their moment. I thought that was nice. Hell, yeah. I love that. Shout out to Dice Awards. Roger, we're going to talk about Legacy of Cain and how it's got a brand new game. Oh! But we're going to do it right after a word from our sponsors.

It's the easiest way to know you're doing it right. Well, other than going back to college and obtaining a bachelor's degree in accounting with a minor in finance, then interning somewhere and becoming fluent in all tax forms. But that might be hard to accomplish before tax day. So maybe just stick with Tax Act. Tax Act.

29:53Greg Miller:Let's get them over with. Welcome back, Roger. Before we kick start story number three, let's jump into some super chats over on YouTube. Aaron Lime writes in and says, writing in to tell Greg, wherever he is, I was right. We got MGS 4, Metal Gear Solid 4. I won. We won. We finally got it, Greg. I'm so pumped up about it. Fuck you, Greg. I'm so pumped up, Roger, because I've been waiting patiently for my turn to play him. And I'm excited to play Metal Gear Solid finally and be the ones on the sticks. Because I love Metal Gear Solid 4. I'm excited. 2, 4, 1, 3.

30:33Tim Gettys:That's your order right there? That's the rankings. I've only played one. Maybe they'll change when I play. I've only played one and I've played half of five. So I'm going to do it. I'm going to do the gauntlet. I'm going to do two this year. What if we stream it together? In your house? Split the controller in half.

30:47Greg Miller:we have steve-o writing in and says early birthday tax for tomorrow happy birthday born on the day of love that's beautiful that's beautiful i love that i love that and then uh oh norm chacho says somebody called brian scalabrini he's famously said i'm closer to lebron than you are to me wow now scalabrini a little bit out of my height you know my weight class but i'll still give him one. I'll give Scal one. Heard that, Scalabrini? I'll give him one. Because right now he's getting up there and the White Mamba's getting up there in age.

31:22Tim Gettys:White Mamba is what they call him?

31:23Greg Miller:Yeah. That's crazy. The White Mamba. What team did he play for? Boston. Boston. He was a journeyman. I think he played for a number of teams, but Boston is where you'd recognize him. Journeyman, that's what they call people that go around to multiple. You just keep going. That's nice. I like that. Get that check. I like that. And then finally, Dave Bro writes in and says, whatever happened to Roger and Andy 1v1? That's still in the works. You know what I mean? People are working on it. I had the gym. I had the gym ready to rock and roll.

31:53Tim Gettys:We were going to get Andy to do a three-point contest. Well, that was without anybody. Now it's going to be me and him. Now it's going to be focused on... I feel like I'm going to be shagging a lot of balls, a lot of misses. Yeah, especially from him, specifically. He says he can give me 50 points ahead of them to 100? I don't know. He said some crazy shit. I don't believe him. Don't believe him everybody. I'll work on your shot with you if you want. I would love that. Okay. I would also love a professional basketball player to teach me. Do we know? I mean, we know one.

32:21Greg Miller:Well, you have a connection with Red Bull. If you could get in touch with Red Bull, we could call up Lethal Shooter, the best shot in the game, and have Lethal Shooter come out and teach you how to shoot. But he would make you shoot like a Jolly Rancher into a water bottle. That probably wouldn't help you with your basketball stats. It would just be cool to do.

32:41Tim Gettys:Okay, so how about this? How about I just have a ringer? where I hurt myself and then I said, oh no, he will play in my stead and it's fucking, I don't know, Steph Curry.

32:50Greg Miller:We can set it up. We can set that up. Let's go to the local college. I'm sure we can holler at somebody. You know what I mean?

32:55Tim Gettys:Just stand outside the local college.

32:56Greg Miller:We go to the open gym. Mike plays a one-on-one. Because if I beat you, you got to do me a favor. You owe me a favor. Let's go to story number three. Is that how you've gotten so far in this world? I'm a mobster.

33:10Tim Gettys:You just pool hustle everybody you know?

33:13Greg Miller:Story number three, Legacy of Cain Ascendance. The first new Legacy of Cain game in over two decades is out next month. This is coming from Rebecca Valentine at IGN.com. Crystal Dynamics has revealed the first brand new Legacy of Cain game in over two decades. It's called Legacy of Cain Ascendance. And it's out sooner than you'd think on March 31st, 2026. Ascendance is admittedly a bit different in genre and viewpoint than the past Legacy of Cain games. It's a retro pixel side-scroller platformer starring four characters familiar to the Legacy of Cain fans. Cain himself, two different forms of Raziel, the vampire and human as a leader of, And then LLF, LLF, LLF, who thus far has only appeared in the graphic novels.

34:13Greg Miller:Players will spend roughly equal time playing as all four characters. In addition to the retro pixel art, Ascendance also includes hand-drawn anime-style cinematics and some sections of art intended to invoke the PS1-era 3D style of the original games. Ascendance will be scored by the electronic rock musician Cell Dweller, who recorded the companion soundtrack for the graphic novel Soul Reaver, The Dead Shall Rise. Crystal Dynamics has also confirmed that the original voice actors for Kane, Raziel, Ariel, and Mobius will be returning to their roles for the game. Upon its March 31st release, Legacy of Cana Descendants will launch on PS5, PS4, Switch, and Switch 2, Xbox, and PC via Steam.

35:04Greg Miller:GOG and Epic Games Store.

35:06Tim Gettys:Wild.

35:07Greg Miller:A random one.

35:08Tim Gettys:This is weird. I mean, I guess they didn't put this in a state of play because maybe they're like, oh, we don't want to compete with a God of War game that's a little bit similar to that. But that's just a weird one that this wasn't part of the state of play specifically. Very odd. Yeah, very odd.

35:23Greg Miller:So we got the remake announcement at State of Play yesterday.

35:26Tim Gettys:Yes, yes. Remaster, I think it was, of Legacy of K and Defiance. Okay. Defiance.

35:31Greg Miller:And then here we are now, Crystal Dynamics, low-key announcing, hey, we have a game coming out next month. Next month.

35:38Tim Gettys:Yeah, I like the way this looks. Can I see it again, Kevin? Yeah, yeah. I didn't get to see it. I was reading well. Yeah, I like the actual, the pixel art more than I think I like the God of War pixel art. something about it just kind of like reads a little bit like crispier and like more like like brutal like when you get into there like when you get to the blood blood effects i enjoy that like that yeah rip it out the fucking the neck that's great i love that i love yeah i enjoy this i like that it's a it's a little bit more dense i would say the pixel art uh i don't love that which is right now they're showing like the uh the what do you call that they're just the animated they're drawing out the characters when they're speaking portrait yeah the portraits uh something about it like i think maybe the animation that they're going for uh which is like they're trying to just like pin and and stretch and everything it just it didn't doesn't hit as much but i'm i'm down for it i i love the legacy of cane games as a kid i played them way too too young my aunt randy was just showing me them yeah like they were like i was way i was like maybe six seven and she was showing me these games i was like this is the scariest shit ever and i i love them soul reaver was so sick uh so the fact that we're having a kind of a comeback of all this hell yeah i love Defiance as a kid so I'm gonna play the fuck out of that I'm gonna try that out as an adult for the first time uh and then this I'm definitely gonna try out I think I'm a little like Metroidvania out but this does seem like it has enough of like the hey we have four different characters we're playing with enough of the fun stuff that I can maybe like keep on pushing through because I think it's like a traditional like hey I'm just playing as one person and I'm just trying to explore this Metroid uh this Metroidvania huge uh area for 15 to 20 hours maybe not my jam but it seems like we have enough fun little weird stuff going on there especially at the ending they show off that weird like ps1 first person viewpoint which i don't know where the ps1 air 3d style of the original games they write yeah i don't know where we're going with that one um but uh i don't know how much we're going to be doing that but it's cool and i like the look of that and i hope that this starts off like something where they're actually making another legacy of kane because they oh recently revealed or was it was revealed that they had canceled a legacy of kane game in the last few years so i don't know where that is or what how this would connect to another legacy of cane game but i'm sure if this one does gangbuster numbers they they would be like okay let's do another one of these and let's start cooking on an actual legacy of cane game retro pixel side scroller

37:58Greg Miller:platformer you'll spend equally uh roughly equal time playing as all four characters it's cool i

38:05Tim Gettys:like that i also like vampire shit i like being able to like suck the blood and then take you know it gets some more health in there. Yeah. It gets more health there. It's cool. I like, I'm down for it. And will I finish this game is the bigger question. That's such a huge like uphill battle. Yes. To finish a Metroidvania game that again, we'll probably be 15 to 20 hours. That's a lot of time.

38:21Greg Miller:Okay. Yeah. I don't have much connection to legacy of cane at all. Right. So this one is a major blind spot for me. I look at this one and I go, man, another side school or Metroidvania. I have a lot of those in my life right now, and it is tough to stand out. But if I was a legacy of cane fan, guess what i'd be eating good yeah got a lot of video games coming your way right now to enjoy the you know looking back on the nostalgia and looking forward to some new games that's pretty cool i

38:49Tim Gettys:mean it says pixel side scroller platformer doesn't say metrovania anywhere i don't think so if this is more of a traditional like you know ninja guide and rage bound as someone put in the chat like that's that's cool this is like a seven hour experience like fuck yeah i would love to get back into this universe and have something simple that i can that i can try out on top of the defines that I'm going to try for an afternoon or two. So yeah, I'm happy. I don't think that we're going to get another Legacy of King like actual traditional one. I don't think that this game is going to pop off to be the thing of like, oh fuck, this is the time to do it.

39:18Greg Miller:Okay, we'll see. Let's go to story number four. Sega plans to release four major new titles for mainstay IPs by the end of March 2027. This coming from Chris Scullion at VGC. Sega plans to reveal four new games for its most important IPs by the end of March, 2027 in its latest Q3 financial report, covering the period from October, 2025 to December, 2025 parent company, Sega Sammy also noted its invitations for initiatives for the next financial year, which runs from April 1st, 2026 to March 31st, 2027. According to Sega, the company plans quote, to release four major new titles for mainstay IPs, end quote.

40:08Greg Miller:It will also maximize title potential through enhancement of sales capabilities and continue to expand. That means microtransactions. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

40:18Tim Gettys:Sales opportunities.

40:20Greg Miller:And continue to expand its transmedia business by using the game IP to other mediums such as film, TV, and books. While Sega didn't give any further information on which series it's referring to, The term major new titles for mainstay IPs suggests it will likely be releases of high-budget Sonic game during this period. Sega also released Yakuza Kiwami 3 and Dark Ties on Tuesday. And the only confirmed upcoming release date on its schedule is the Switch 2 version of Virtua Fighter 5 Revo World Stage, which is coming on March 26th. Games that have been announced but don't yet have the release date also include Persona 4 Revival, Stranger Than Heaven, Total War Warhammer 40K, and Total War Medieval 3.

41:10Greg Miller:Sega also previously announced that it's working on numerous other games based on existing IPs. Its new financial reports reconfirmed that the new Virtua Fighter, Crazy Taxi, Golden Axe, Jet Set Radio, Streets of Rage, and Alien Isolation games are in development. How many of these titles could fall under the definition of, quote, major new titles for made-and-stay IPs, end quote, is unknown as how many of these previous confirmed titles will be released before March 2027. Roger, that's a lot of games, but also a lot of games won't make the cut if there's only four.

41:49Tim Gettys:Yeah, there's not that many, though. It's a weird one because I'm looking through and I'm trying to, like, make my prediction. I think Sonic's a lock. I think we're going to get a new Frontiers 2 or whatever the fuck you want to call that. We're going to get that one probably at Summer Game Fest and probably released not too far around there. Or maybe, honestly, a little bit sooner than that. The one that comes to mind for some reason, I think, out of the ones that they've already announced that I think could be this year, is Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio. Just because we've seen that for forever.

42:20Tim Gettys:Jetsuit Radio was included in I believe like a marketing thing that leaked when Persona 3 Reload was also leaked so like that game's already come and went right like that's already came out a few years ago so Jetsuit Radio seems to be deep into production right now so I wouldn't be surprised if that's coming out. Crazy Taxi to me that is like the most precarious one out of them all of like man like you guys need to create like they're trying to create like a live service out of this they're trying to make like a battle royale type deal It's Crazy Taxi 99. That's what it should be. Which is dope, and I fuck with it, but also I don't fuck with it.

42:51Tim Gettys:You know what I mean? I'll play that three times. What I want is I want Tetris 99 and the fact that Tetris 99 also had a way where you can spend, like, I forget how much money it was, and you just get Tetris as part of Tetris 99, right? So I can play single player, and I can play online. If you have that, I think I'm fine with that. So I could see that one coming out this year. What's the fourth one? Persona? Reload for me was, like, such a disappointing announcement this year of, like, it was such a small amount of the game, and it was the guy running down the street. It showed nothing else. And then it's like, Persona 4 Revival.

43:21Tim Gettys:And it's like, okay, this game is not coming out for a long time. Like, this game is not coming out. That one is, to me, is like a weird, like, it should be out this year. It feels like it's about time, but also, I don't know. Golden Axe, sure, whatever. Streets of Rage, I guess. Alienized. Whoa,

43:39Greg Miller:put a little, put a little,

43:41Tim Gettys:put a little respect on Streets of Rage. Sure, I guess we could throw that in there, yeah. I'm not anti-Street of Rage. Or hype. I'm not anti-Street of Rage, Mikey. I'm just saying. I'm just not excited about it. Also, I feel like we've had a Street of Rage recently-ish, right? When was the last one?

43:57Greg Miller:Streets of Rage 4 was 2020. Okay. And it was bomb.

44:00Tim Gettys:Six years? And it was bomb. Okay, fine. Let's put Street of Rage. Is that your 4? Is that what we think? I just like Streets of Rage. Do you really like Streets of Rage?

44:07Greg Miller:I do like Streets of Rage. Me and Kevin Asex had a great time with it. I mean, Streets of Rage, there's a lot of side-scrolling, beat-em-up games right now. They're kind of all the rage. So, yeah, I think Streets of Rage and also Rocking Soundtrack.

44:20Tim Gettys:Why'd you lean over to me? I want to let you know. Rocking Soundtrack. Okay. So Sonic, Crazy, Tacky, Taxi, Jet Set Radio, Streets of Rage. This feels like almost too beautiful. This feels a little bit too hopeful.

44:34Greg Miller:Let me rewind you really quick, right? Because, of course, they talk about four titles by the end of March 2027. So from April 1st, 2026 to March, 2027. What are the four? What are the big,

44:47Tim Gettys:that's what I'm saying. I, this seems about right. I think in terms of Yakuza, Oh, you put actually, nevermind. Throw Yakuza in there. Cause it's March, 2027. Yeah. Yeah. You probably get it around February, March. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. So yeah,

45:02Greg Miller:I'm going to remove jet set radio. And then also maximize titles, titles, potential through enhancement of sales capabilities. Where can I put a bunch of microtransactions In these games I mean crazy taxi easy

45:18Tim Gettys:Bunch of microtransactions

45:20Greg Miller:We deck out your taxi Sonic you can change his shoes

45:24Tim Gettys:We'll put some Nike collabs in there boom Streets of Rage Not really Yakuza they have microtransactions Are you thinking about

45:35Greg Miller:Total War Warhammer 40k Oh I would love that Remember we saw David Harbour come out there that one doesn't have a date we did see remember that because i wanted to draft that on my fantasy critic but that one doesn't have a date yet yeah that's a weird one because i feel like it should have had a date that would felt like it but also by the way one of the coolest trailers ever what

45:52Tim Gettys:a sick trailer like you like when you zoom out and you see it it's like i will never play this game because this looks way too complicated i love it but like just looking at it it's like

46:00Greg Miller:this is the coolest shit in the world guys mark that down as another snow bike mic initiative for 2026 okay one get into a gotcha game two find out what the fuck is going on with world of tanks and why it's so beloved and going down play warframe for a week with everyone and four seizing the means of production and four okay dive in and jump into the world of warhammer

46:25Tim Gettys:and become obsessed with it oh wow just all of warhammer those are my four yeah yeah oh you're

46:29Greg Miller:gonna go warhammer you're gonna go broke well i mean i i just want to learn you got to learn about

46:33Tim Gettys:Yeah, but then you're going to start buying the fucking figures and you're going to try to spray paint. It's not going to work out.

46:38Greg Miller:I'm sick with a brush. That's one thing you don't know about me.

46:42Tim Gettys:I'm sick with the paint. He's sick with the paint, bro. He's sick with the paint. Yeah, I don't know. If we're talking microtransactions, then like, yeah, Crazy Taxi. Yeah, I don't know.

46:51Greg Miller:I don't know, man. I mean, I love Crazy Taxi. I'm very excited for Alien Isolation Game. I don't know if that's this next calendar year, right? But like Alien is high right now. That Alien Romulus movie was fantastic. Alien is always in, right? It will never not be in. But the idea of making another Alien Isolation game is very big news. That's very exciting news. That will do well for them for sure, right? Streets of Rage. I think Streets of Rage will hit. Like I said, we're in a big side-scrolling beat-em-up. So, like, that's an easy one right there. But I don't know what they're really... Virtua Fighter.

47:23Tim Gettys:That's always in the ether. That's an easy one. I mean, well, I don't know how far in development that is.

47:28Greg Miller:So you got Sonic, Virtua Fighter, Yakuza. That's like two. And those are three easy locked in.

47:34Tim Gettys:Two of them is Studio RGG, which is hilarious. You know what I mean? Apparently, they're carrying Sega on their back. Yeah, interesting. They're rocking this, right. And then, you know, you have Stranger Than Heaven. That doesn't count. No? No, it's not a mainstay IP. It's a new IP. Okay. So we'll see. We will see. Chat, let us know what you want to see. Lessing says Persona 4 Arrival. Again, I don't believe that game is coming out this year. Again, for what we've seen, it was just such a small section of it. And I just don't, I just, it's, it doesn't, it didn't scream like, hey, this game is ready to go.

48:10Tim Gettys:This will be out by March, 2024.

48:12Greg Miller:Yeah. 2027.

48:13Tim Gettys:No, like this seems, this seems a little bit further down the road. I think we get a persona six announcement before we get a persona four coming out. Okay. Persona six doesn't come out beforehand, but you get what I'm saying.

48:23Greg Miller:Weird. Roger, if Crazy Taxi was to release, that would be big news. It would be. It would be huge news, Roger. But if I wanted something a little bit smaller, where would I go?
