It literally was because this is somebody who I knew in elementary school and hadn't really like talked to since elementary school.

Hold on. it's a whole thing it's a whole story why would you be surprised that he had the same area code if you knew him before no i it was i was i wasn't surprised but it was like refreshing okay this is somebody who i had like we'd follow each other on instagram forever because we went to the same school right and then weeks and weeks and weeks ago she reached out and she's like hey i also live in san francisco like i'm looking for friends oh shit yeah like let's be friends and so last night we go we hang out grab drinks and catch up on a bunch of shit and let me tell you i was telling barrett this of like we're having fun we're talking a few drinks in i'm like all right i gotta ask question and she's like what's up and i'm like do you remember 9 11

2:24Blessing Adeoye Jr.:and she was able to like confirm she was like yeah no they didn't make a big deal out of it in school but i needed to ask this question because i've had this question on my mind for a very long time and like tim like when he sets this up in my head i'm like oh man like maybe he was like starting to flirt or something like i don't know what like what the vibe was what the relationship is here the left swing to what the fuck i needed to i needed to ask what was it like in our school what happened that i love that this has been eating at you you know what i mean you had to keep this inside for so long because you're like i don't want to admit this to the world everybody has a 9-11 memory yeah and like i'm like i don't think unless i get you i don't think it was a thing and then she confirmed she was like yeah no they just it was a thing well no i mean It was a thing, obviously.

3:13Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Especially us in the Midwest, too, with the other plane. Because I was like, did they dismiss school? And she was like, no. But they must have. The one thing that I need to keep in mind, time zones. Sure. We were in central. I remember being picked up by my mom, and we walked home in the middle of the day. Or early in the day. I'm pretty sure they closed out every school. I can't imagine them. they're like i don't know about this because the way she described it because she definitely remembered him better than i did she was like yeah no they didn't they didn't close out school it was like nothing weird and then we came back the next day our teacher mr lash he was like do you guys know what happened yesterday and most of the class was like no and then like i think he like explained it very quickly and then just moved on something about this i don't but it's also like we're second graders though yeah and i was a first grader like i didn't understand what was happening but i remember the day you know i think i remember coming home and my parents being locked into cnn and like vibes vibes were off and that's all i remember but i don't even remember why remember like even like everything like i think even like kids like uh uh channels were like it was all just yeah i remember my parents being like yeah there was a plane crash and me being like damn it's crazy or i didn't say damn because i was six years old but that was the thought i was oh that's why that's crazy i i am yeah man for us it happened so early in the morning was before school oh so it was just think of like school was canceled before before you even got even got there but like there was no getting away from it like anywhere you went any channel you had on it was just it on repeats i didn't mean to start this off on a night alone discussion by the way it was just one of those things where i was thinking back this is why you can't this is why you can't give me too much to drink because i will ask the real questions oh man anyway it was a really fun time but that's why we like when you drink because that's when that's when fun bless comes out i do get fun oh my lord let me tell you i can't believe greg miller hasn't approached the stage and now you know what i'm kind of happy he has no idea yeah enough about all that let's talk about video game news remember if you're watching live you can be a part of the show super chat in over on youtube.com slash kind of funny games remember we couldn't do this do this without our producers over on patreon.com slash kind of funny.

Of course. You got to remember. Yeah, you're like 20 years old when it happened. I was six. Holy crap. For now, let's begin with what is, and forever will be, the Roper Report. It's time for some news. We have six stories today. A Baker's Dozen! Starting with our number one. The next God of War features multiple mythologies. This comes from a report I'm pulling from Tom Phillips at IGN. history buffs can reportedly look forward to multiple mythologies appearing in the next god of war from sony santa monica the unannounced game will feature elements from various mythologies rather than solely focusing on a single setting such as the greek and norse sagas seen previously that's according to a new report by mp first which specifically mentions chinese and japanese elements being in development that same report also references online scuttlebutt over mayan elements too, though does not go on to verify this particular claim.

7:25Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Still, it sounds like there will be plenty going on in the next chapter of the God of War universe, which Sony is expected to unveil in the near future. Last month, notorious video game leaker NateTheHate claimed that the game would center on the character of Fae, Kratos' deceased wife, played by Daredevil's Deborah Ann Wohl in God of War Ragnarok. IGN also understands this to be accurate. The leaker claimed that sony's current plan is to unveil the game this year ahead of a launch in 2027 interesting previous whispers of the project have described it as more of an action-focused take on the veteran franchise with a tease by bloomberg reporter uh jason schreier that the studio's next project was quote not a new ip but it might feel like one end quote tim you've been gone for a few months yeah i believe parts of this story happened in the few in those few months yeah the jason shrier jason shrier uh bit and then yeah the fey uh leading this game wasn't that like last week i still wasn't here i think it was like last month yeah but like where are you at with all this news i mean this sounds great every single thing i'm hearing here i'm like i like it i like it a lot i do think that my only hesitation and it's more of a question mark than a hesitation is Bay over Kratos like I would just kind of assume I want more Kratos you know sure shaking it up a bit though I trust him I'm not concerned about that but I love the different mythologies I love them talking about the Chinese Japanese elements being in development like that could be freaking rad we already got like kind of teases at the different mythologies and stuff in both the last game so yeah when we talked about this before like my argument here for like moving on from kratos is that like ragnarok feels like that's the end of his story yeah and so like i don't if we to to continue on with him would feel excess in a way that i i don't think i would love so i i do personally enjoy that we're maybe moving on to someone else i definitely i agree with you 100 i just have concern that another character that fey can lead the game See, I have the opposite thing.

9:35Blessing Adeoye Jr.:I think God of War Ragnarok was so rich with really good characters that I could have pointed to four different characters that could have led their own game. I'm actually surprised we're getting a Fae game before an Atreus game. You could maybe make the argument that God of War Ragnarok was an Atreus game because you have those segments of the game where you are playing as Atreus. And that I can accept. But I feel like, not to get spoilery, where we end Ragnarok with feels like a launchpad for... A couple different stories. yeah well launchpad for a couple of different stories i would think that atreus would have been one of them of course this doesn't count out an eventual atreus game another one that i've always pitched was thru'd thor's daughter yeah the fact that you don't you never wield mjolnir in the game made me think oh i feel like she would be such a great character to take control of and maybe use mjolnir and do all these things right that's a potential one there is also uh anger boda who maybe could be the companion in an atreus story i feel like that's what they would do there are so many different ways you can go with it fey i think is fascinating for the kind of game that they're pitching because i i i like the idea of playing as fey the way they're presenting it as or not presenting it the way that has been reported as far as being a more actiony focused thing has me really interested in like oh that's not how i would have coupled that i guess i associate fey with like more magic and sorcery which you could do action with for sure but wouldn't necessarily be my first jump to but also could be cool yeah i'm right there with you you have to remember who uh who was the axe's original owner that's a good that's a good call i mean there you go i i i guess for me my hesitation comes from what's the game called like how do they present this i bet you it's not called god of war i think it's called something else like that's this comes back to jason schreier saying this is it's not a new ip but it's gonna feel like one i think you presented as i don't know what you call it but you don't call it god of war yeah i am interested yeah 2027 that sounds awesome being announced this year hell yeah like if we can get back to having multiple playstation projects that we're excited about and kind of seeing some type of roadmap oh that's gonna feel good yeah and it feels like we're kind of close right like we have sorrows imminently right we have wolverine if we have this if we have intergalactic and then add more things in between i'm like hey that's like exciting for my playstation 5 how different do you think they could get with it because part of me i don't think this is where they're going but i'm almost like i can almost picture a hades style top down game which i know is not there this is not what we'd expect from them but when i when i think of this kind of game that's kind of what i think of a little bit but yeah but that that to me is my head the hesitation of like what's it called and is this the right direction where it's like i feel like i want sony santa monica making a big third person triple a game yeah right like them making a hades like game the game could be awesome but i i mean we just got sons of sparta is that the name of it yes yeah yes and like i don't want another thing like that i know that wasn't sony santa monica necessarily but i'm kind of caught up in it where it's just like i want a big triple a game from them because they make very big triple a games very very well yeah you know and like i am of the mind of like yeah let devs do what they want i get that i get it the art and all that stuff that is all true i also know i really like these games and we don't get them that much yeah i really want more of them i saw bear pop up i'm looking at my youtube that's why um yeah i'm really fascinated by even things like how far is the camera gonna be pulled out yeah like i know that's such a weird thing but when you talk about a more action focused thing and when we talk about what god of war was back in the day and what it is now like that kind of stuff matters because we are in these latest iterations of god of war we're close we're up on the um not up on the shoulder but we're closer to kratos it feels like a more grounded more real god of war type title to the point where like some of that is a little bit of a hindrance on combat for me when i'm playing really yeah like i love the combat overall and i think the dlc valhalla really cemented the combat of like okay i really really like this but i've never been all the way sold on god the modern god of war combat wow and i think part of it is like i just don't like how close we are to kratos it's hard to manage space i know they deal with that by like having the mere call out like behind you kratos all the shit right but something about it has never fully resonated with me that's that's interesting because it really hits for me i love the switching between the weapons and i feel like the pace of it is a little deceiving like i do feel like the like i would describe god of war 2018 and ragnarok as action games like there's other elements to them for sure but like i think that they really excel in the combat in the action and uh this the idea of this one being even more action not impossible like it could be more bayonetta like right yeah Because that is a lot more, a more platinum game type game, more action there.

14:29But also the original God of War trilogy was more action even, right? Very zoomed out camera for the most part, more cinematic camera following you as well. But like overall, it's like, you know, you're smaller on the screen. That could be interesting for what they're doing, especially if they're doing different mythologies. So we're getting multiple, very different looking settings.

14:49Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Like that could be pretty cool. And that's something I'm really excited about is what you can do with the mythology stuff. because that's something that has been talked about as far as God of War 2018 into Ragnarok. Okay, we're in Norse. Where else are we going to take Kratos? Are we going to get Kratos versus Jesus Christ? What does this look like? That's what we've been waiting for. And the fact that they're taking that idea and going, what if we did this with Fae? Does this make more sense with this character? How do we go crazy with this? I really like that. I think that a lot of it has to do, too, with Deborah Ann Woll.

15:16Right? Yeah. Like, people really like her. She's a star. And she is a star. There's star power there. and she's also a fucking nerd by all accounts. So it's like having her, someone that's genuinely passionate about video games, I think that that does go a long way. Think about Ben Star.

15:32Blessing Adeoye Jr.:And passionate about fantasy as well. Yeah, exactly. All of it's done. And people are fans of hers, not just for her acting, but also for her fandom, right? And so all that stuff. But I think a lot about Ben Star and the power that he has because him being an authentic, genuine video game fan, as well as an incredibly talented actor, you combine those things and you have a built-in marketing plan, right? Yeah. For your video game and for video games in general. And I feel like her being the face of this thing is different than what we've seen before with Kratos, right? And that's no disrespect to anybody that has acted in any of the God of War games.

16:06But Debra Ann Wohl has a different level of celebrity to her that she is not afraid to mix in with our nerd shit. And I think that there is an incredible value to that that I'm sure PlayStation is looking at. and then you start thinking about movies oh yeah shows and all that stuff and to your point the

16:22Blessing Adeoye Jr.:press run is going to be very fun like she will you will see her appear on podcasts you will see her like be on stage i mean i can see her on like jimmy fallon you know what i mean it's like that's the there's like a level up that you get from that which i think playstation clearly would want 100 uh science dog official writes in the super chat and says maybe it's titled um blank a god of war story or something like that i saw people in chat were throwing out goddess of war i don't think you need to get cute with it like maybe you put in a god of war story but really i think you could name it something new i almost want them to present it like a new ip again that's what they want to do this is what i'm getting so caught up on i'm just like don't do that like you have one of the biggest gaming ips period definitely one of your bigger ips that you own playstation make a god of war game i but like do you want to be and maybe the answer is yes but do you want to be the studio that only does god of war i think i think they're working on multiple projects I think the other project they're working on is a God of War game.

17:20Blessing Adeoye Jr.:I think it's the God of War trilogy that they announced. I think they're only doing God of War related things. And it's also like, if you title it God of War, does it come with the expectation, even with trailers and presenting it with a different character and all that stuff, does it come with this expectation of where is Kratos? I think it does, but I think that that's the challenge. To me, I feel like the God of War IP means so much. They've reinvented it before. It meant something different than it did now. and that was Kratos, but it's a very different Kratos. I think that like they need to rise to the challenge of being like, it's God of War and we're going to prove to you that it deserves that title.

17:55That's my opinion. I'm talking about a studio that I believe can pull that off. There will always be detractors. There will always be the, I won't play as a girl. Go get fucked. I don't care.

18:05Blessing Adeoye Jr.:You know what I mean? I think I'm thinking of it with, I think it was Barnell in chat that says they're going to call it God of War. That's marketing 101. I also think an important part of building out a studio and building out a portfolio is going let's have multiple weapons in the chamber like let's have multiple weapons let's have multiple things we can go back to as far as with with naughty dog you have uncharted and you have last of us right like with rockstar you have red dead and you have gta i think even if even though it is in the god of war universe if you can brand the fey game as something that can stand by itself and something that can like have an a name that lives up to oh now we have a different ip even though it's in the same ip but a different brand that is not equal to god of war i think that amplifies your power as a studio yeah i think you can have your cake eat it too i agree with you the problem is god of war is so big that i'm just like it's got a war if it was like something lesser than and i'd be like okay yeah you can have multiple things it's like dude you have such power here that i do think that you don't get double return having two different things yeah you get triple return having it be the fucking god of war yeah you know but we'll see i'm excited i again i like everything that i'm hearing here i feel like this uh i want to believe i want to believe what we're getting here i i 100 believe it uh samson xp also writes and says goddess of war new mateo says the god of time and space can transport kratos to different mythologies or timelines could be sick um and then we got some of their 9-11 related leijing dragon writes it and says same blessing same i don't remember it at all um christian says they are jumping the shark by branching too much which i disagree with i think you want to branch i think it's okay to branch i don't think you need to be stuck as a studio that's making the same thing over and over and over again and that's not even to like the naming part of it because you could call it god of war but i like that it's something different regardless you know what i mean like i like that it starts a different character i think you need that in your catalog otherwise people are gonna get tired granted we're talking about a time where games take five years that's my thing is it's just like yeah we've gotten two of these games two and a half i guess with valhalla if you want to count that as half sure of like god of war games yeah like the modern i feel that these games because the other games are different games i was gonna say because we've gotten like six games we've gotten even more if we're like counting the entire god of war but i don't those they feel like a different franchise yeah but it's still like this is what sony santa monica has been doing for 20 years yeah they also did kinetica never forget they did do kinetica and i think didn't they publish like flower and stuff like that no no they published some stuff like that maybe during the ps3 era i think they published some maybe even co-developed on some like indie-ish artsy i mean that game company did flower and all those but like maybe they they helped publish i i don't know chat they external development games they helped with flow flow which was before and also flower oh okay um yeah oh so i got it yeah well interesting didn't know that um joshy frog says blessing forgot never forget my school uh didn't close there you go uh and then samson also says i'm the same age as blessed i thought it was a movie okay well that's crazy i didn't i never thought those things didn't happen that's crazy this is all crazy that yeah wow let's move on to story number two rockstar hackers actually made Take-Two's stock increase after leaking how much GTA Online is making.

21:34Blessing Adeoye Jr.:This is Jordan Midler at Video Games Chronicle. Following the release of information that reportedly revealed how much money GTA Online is making, Take-Two's stock price enjoyed one of its strongest days so far this year. Earlier this week, the hacker group Shiny Hunters threatened the GTA maker, saying it would release confidential data about the series if its demands weren't met. According to the leaked data, Rockstar is making more than a million dollars a day from GTA Online and around$500 million annually. Following the revelations surrounding how much money the game is still making in 2026, Take-Two's stock shot up when trading opened on Tuesday morning.

22:11Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Opening around$202 a share, it then rose to almost$208 a share. This surge added around$1 billion to the mega-publisher's market cap. Hey, Shiny Hunters, do you want to be the headline? That's good, Tom. That's good. I'm not coming for you though don't come for me okay I'm just making jokes it's all jokes we're just making jokes shiny hunters please don't hack me what I'll say is with enemies like this who needs friends yeah you know what I mean if this is how your enemies are coming at you I need more enemies for myself dang you know that's crazy that is crazy and it's nuts that we're talking about money at this scale yeah but like when you're talking about a casual billy it really is like when you open gta and like you look at your money that you have in the game that's how much money rockstar that's rockstar money and let me tell you i got a lot of money in the game oh my lord i was hacking the uh the stock market in gta 5 we're not hacking it but you know there's just like are you one of them in gta 5 for sure i'm one of the shiny hunters my bank account in gta 5 looks fake like it looks crazy i i was having a very interesting conversation we don't have much more to say about this right let's just move on to gta i was having a fun conversation yesterday with someone um you know i guess i could say it was troy baker uh which is fun you should definitely watch the kf podcast maybe my favorite kf podcast i've ever been on loved it um we were talking about gta and how massive of a hit six is going to be he was bringing up the not devil's advocate but a point against gta six of like for the people that have invested so much in five are they going to all move on to six and we kind of started talking about like well even for the ones that don't they're still there it's still going to rockstar like does it really matter but like that that is a factor that i i haven't really thought about i don't feel like we've discussed is like i think the answer is yes is that is that they'll move on or they'll move on both or they'll move on i i think here's what's gonna happen gta 6 is gonna launch the online will come out probably weeks or maybe a month later the online is gonna struggle at launch because billions of people, not billions, millions of people are going to try and log in at the same time.

24:21Blessing Adeoye Jr.:It's going to be a mess. It's going to be missing heists and some key features. It's not going to work all the way. And so a lot of people... It's just going to be a repeat. It's going to be a repeat of 5, but 5 is still going to exist. So they can be there. Exactly. And so those people are going to hop into 6 and go, damn, this shit's broken. They're going to come back to 5. And then about a year later, they're going to fix all that shit. And 6 is going to eat up so much of the player base of 5 because 5 is also broken in so many ways. Like... And broken might be too much of a word. Five is just so antiquated.

24:50Blessing Adeoye Jr.:You got to remember that this game came out on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. And so it has 2013 levels of online infrastructure. And that shit, I can't, I love GTA 5. GTA 5, one of my favorite gaming experiences of all time. I spent hundreds and hundreds of hours in online. Funny enough, I booted up GTA Online, I want to say either last week or the week before, just to hang out a little bit. be there and i just i i looked around and went i don't know what to do with this it's just so old and so yeah i do think i i do think a lot of those people will be excited for a modern version of that as long as it lives up to being a modern now here's a question coming from a place of a bit of ignorance having not really dived too deep into the online besides just some fun multiplayer stuff we did here is there any way that they can come up with some type of literal transfer system of like your progress from five moving to six or some like the things that you own or your currency or whatever or does that not even fucking matter i don't think it matters i i think maybe there'll be a small amount of people that are like damn i i'm a fucking billion trillionaire in this game and i own all the properties or whatever i think people are ready to start fresh though i think people would be excited to start fresh i think if you really wanted to you could have people transfer their money or maybe you can give people a bonus of if you play gta online we'll give you $20 ,000 or some shit like that or a million dollars or something like that.

26:17Blessing Adeoye Jr.:I don't think it matters, though. I think people want to grind. I think people want to start from... It's been so long since ETA5. I guess my question is, what does the investment mean to them? Was the investment of the money just the time that they got from it already? Or is there something that they're going to be like, fuck, this sucks that I put this much into it and I'm not going to be able to continue with that? To steal a quote from Don metric there's a there's a game for people who have invested into into gta 5 that heavily it's called gta 5 yeah like it's just play more online and yeah there we go play more of that game to continue yeah yeah but i think that's such a small amount of people that wouldn't want to transfer over because they've put it in that much i don't i'd be curious if there are people in chat that like identify with what you're talking about as far as being that far into gta 5 and not wanting to let go because i can't i i just can't imagine it yeah no yeah i would imagine you're ready to let go yeah and especially with what the reports of them hiring like uh like some of the rp people as well like you have to imagine the features that they're going to try to build for gta 6 online are going to be just like tantalizing of get it wanting to get people to move over to play with the new toys in a new online infrastructure that's the thing is the new toys oh man i hope the new toys are so good it's i think gta 6 is going to look a lot different from gta 5 online i think that's the other thing it'll still have those elements of buy a property and do missions to make money and all these things but i think you're gonna have you're gonna lean a lot more into user generated content in some ways it might look like fortnite or roblox in some of like what it introduces as far as user generated content and stuff like that i'm equally scared of what gta 6 online is gonna be as much as i'm excited about it yeah because i think they're gonna learn a lot of lessons there's gonna be a battle pass like it's there's gonna be a lot of stuff a lot of stuff there's gonna be a lot of stuff that i'm gonna be like oh you know it's gonna be one of them ones but i'm excited to see what it is yeah tim we're gonna move on to story number three and talk about spider-man but before we do i want to tell you about patreon.com slash kind of funny and youtube.com slash kind of funny games where you can go and get the kind of funny membership which allows you to get shows ad-free.

The likeness model behind Insomniac's Spider-Man games has seemingly revealed he's working on new content for a potential future game. In an Instagram post published on Monday, Ben Jordan posted an image of himself gearing up for a performance session. The post was accompanied by the message IYKYK, a.k.a. If you know, you know, and a spider emoji. The post was soon deleted, but not before it was archived on Reddit. Jordan typically works as a model and is only acting credits so far or for the R4 PlayStation's Marvel Spider-Man games.

32:46Blessing Adeoye Jr.:It's been speculated that the capture could be for Insomniac's upcoming Wolverine game, but with the title due to release this September, that seems unlikely. The boss of Marvel Games has implied that Wolverine won't be its last collaboration with Insomniac, and earlier leaks have indicated that Insomniac has plans for further games in the Spider-Man universe. I don't think that last part surprises us at all. The idea that Insomniac is going to make more Spider-Man games. But what do you think of this post? Well, I mean, my first thought was like, something's weird about this angle. There's no way this man is this long.
