In short

Kinda Funny Games Daily (June 18, 2026) discusses new video game “cover art” and other industry news, focusing heavily on GTA 6’s revealed key art and pre-order rollout, plus rumors about Bungie layoffs and a Star Fox poster.

Guests/hosts

Hosts are Blessing (A.A. Jr), Tim “Little Croc” (Little Croix), Poppy, Morgan (Poppy Tim Morgan Gettys mentioned), and guest/regular co-hosts contribute commentary. No external guests are interviewed in this transcript segment.

Guest backgrounds (as described in-show)

They’re long-running games media personalities at Kinda Funny Games Daily, with prior coverage and reactions to major game trailers and Nintendo/Switch 2 news.

Key claims

  • Rockstar revealed GTA 6 cover art; pre-orders start June 25; teaser video is not a full trailer.
  • The next GTA 6 trailer likely drops around the pre-order date and should be cinematic, not a long gameplay showcase.
  • Price debate: hosts lean toward $70 (or argue $80 is plausible but $70 “makes sense”).
  • Bungie layoffs are rumored: Insider claims up to ~400 staff (about 50% of ~800) could be affected.

Notable examples

  • GTA 6 cover art is compared to Vice City references (helicopter, 80s Miami palette, pink motorcycle vibe).
  • Bungie example context: Destiny 2 sunsetting and Marathon’s underperformance.
  • Disney extraction-shooter speculation (Epic + Disney) as a “predictable” trend.

2:52Blessing Adeoye Jr.:yo what's up welcome to kind of funny games daily for thursday june 18th 2026 i'm one of your hosts blessing at a.a jr join me is little croix poppy tim mo morgan gettys nintendo unveiling a new

3:06Nick Scarpino:poster for starfox when i said it through definitely didn't mean it for it to be a whole story but you know what any excuse to talk about starfox any excuse to get some fun news to the Yeah, let's get some of that. Let's get some good energy in there. There's a theme, too. New art today. That's what we're talking about. New art in video games. Cover art. Cover art. Which is always great for an audio podcast. But hey, Spotify has the video features. You can turn that on if you want to look alongside with us. Tim, how are you doing? I'm doing pretty good. You know, it's been a week for sure. There's been a lot of downs, I would say.

3:38Nick Scarpino:It feels like they're not stopping. And there's just a lot of annoying roadblocks. Like, for example, yesterday, new Spider-Man trailer drops. so damn exciting of course can't wait for this greg and i sit down record a reaction to it immediately just blocked on youtube and it's just like so that was an hour of our lives you know an already busy day i already had so much to do and it's just like sometimes you just got to move on and just smile just be like you just got to take the hits sometimes so that's what happened door spider-man trailer reaction everyone you can find it in some places i don't know where it's where it is and where it's not it's not on youtube i can tell you that okay i think you could probably watch it on Spotify I don't know I don't know tough it's tough well Tim I've had a good week yes you have I took the first couple of days of the week off because summer game fest season was very busy and in my time off you know what I did oh played video games yes you did what'd you play I played Xenoblade Chronicles I can't believe it every time I turn on my switch I just see Blessie Gay playing Xenoblade Chronicles and it feels surreal it feels like like this shouldn't be happening something's not right here yeah this doesn't seem like it's actually happening i was curious on how much i'd get into it because during the direct of course they announced the switch 2 editions i like the staggered release thing that they're doing where they have the first game coming out now and then two two and three coming out later we might be talking about a story are we talking about the final fantasy stuff later at all um in wii news okay okay well i'll just say it now um i i do think it's brilliant like especially after like hot off the heels of Final Fantasy 7 remake and rebirth doing the same strategy and it really paying off for them on the switch so I feel like yeah there's something something to be learned there about you know the switch 2 being this popular new system of re-releasing series on it like definitive editions or just hey they actually can work on Nintendo hardware for the first time editions um Devil May Cry is another example of Devil May Cry 5 I think is going to sell incredibly well on the switch 2 and I don't know if we're talking about it if we've already talked about sometime of the week i don't know at some point yeah uh devil may cry or copcom revealed sales numbers they were like through the roof like really dmc5 sold more last year than it sold its first year i did see this actually pop up and it's because of the anime on netflix wow good for them yeah good cool stuff so yeah now and so dmc5 just got announced coming to switch too so it's like it couldn't do really well could it do that well they're like i don't know excited uh kev heads up for you i know there's a lot of tech stuff going on our monitor computer that shows chat or the the monitor i should say that shows chat went black and then it came up and now we're on like the screensaver thing before you log in and so he can get that fixed at some point that'd be sick but yes xenoblade chronicles i so going into it was not expecting to enjoy it as much as i am i'm loving it i'm about 12 hours in i can't stop playing it i'm like gung-ho on i want to finish this game see this thing i'm so happy for this i want to be an evangelist of this game yeah until you you'd be the first one barrett and andy probably mike as well yeah of course our entire audience has to play this game i think there's a handful of people kind of funny that would really dig xenoblade crime it's so daunting but i mean i i love i was telling andy this yesterday there's two franchises that i have never played i played i guess a little bit of each but i've never really really given a try xenoblade and octopath traveler and they're two franchises that every time a new game comes out i download the soundtrack dude the soundtrack is insane in xenoblade chronicle insane yeah i've like i've been very surprised it's so interesting because soundtrack is probably the the main thing where i'm like oh they popped off on this every single new song that pops up in this game is incredible yoko shimimura and like a team of really good composers are working on this thing and it very i didn't realize that yeah i'm pretty sure somebody correct me because i'm pretty sure they have not like she's not like a main okay but she's on the soundtrack i think i'm pretty sure mitsuda as well yeah is contributing to the soundtrack so it's like a lot of just legendary composers that are working on this thing um so you have that and like that's my main thing where i'm like okay that shines other individual parts of the game i'm kind of like all right combat pretty fun story really good world i think is really well realized but how it all comes together i'm blown away by it is very much more than the some of his parts where you're playing this game and i'm like i can't believe this game is this good and it's it came out on the week and can you believe that you've watched trailers for one of the entries in its franchise no less than a thousand times and i've always just been yeah that's just that just shows like you don't know until you know you don't know until you know like this showcase that they just showed could have been one of your favorite showcases of all time i could have been have you gone back and re-watched the direct i did i well i always re-watch the uh nintendo direct usually i re-watch it with other people's reactions i i right after maybe not right it was like a couple days after i watched the whole direct again liked it way more the second time i was surprised by how well it hit the second time i think the that first time having expectations and like also it just being yeah xenoblade and environment games that i'm not already into maybe made it so that i wasn't as hyped during the moment but as i re-watched it I think it bumped my score up from like I forget what I gave it maybe like a five to a seven yeah yeah I was very impressed when I went back to it yeah I ended up I gave it a 6.5 and I was very clear that was presentation I think that the stuff that they had in it we got Kingdom Hearts 4 we got Ocarina of Time Final Fantasy 7 and like all of the ports and stuff which I not to go over this a bazillion times but it's like I I love that we're at a point that the Switch 2 is catching up to just all right we can move forward to the future we don't need to be doing all of the ports because everything's ported yeah and it's like we're the ports are now becoming evidence that those teams are going to support the switch to day and date in the future and we're seeing that happen so i'm i'm very happy with where nintendo is at oh yeah same but last thing i want to say about this because i we'll have to i'm sure we'll do a xenoblade review at some point when you get to it or whatever but we'll talk about that a lot i'm so sad you dropped final fantasy time i know i'm so sad and i know it's not the game's fault yeah it's it's it's a mixture of a bunch of things right i think part of it is it being an old game there's kind of a start and stop and like it's not as ux friendly with when i'm getting into battles and i'm doing everything like it's very start and stop for me whereas i'm playing xenoblade and it's just smooth as butter yeah i get into combat i'm loving the combat and i'm i get out of it and i'm like i never feel like i'm being stopped and it's also not random encounters which i prefer i don't like having yeah having random encounters like that yeah um but i want to get back to it because also it's just other games coming out a whole bunch of circumstances but i was enjoying it but yeah xenoblade chronicles has me hooked in a different kind of way yeah i got it special you know what's special talking about video game news with you tim it's true remember if you're watching live

10:30Blessing Adeoye Jr.:you can be part of the show by super chatting in over on youtube.com slash kind of funny games We couldn't do this without our producers on Patreon.com slash kindoffunny. So thank you to Carl Jacobs, Omega Buster, Delaney, the Psalm, Twining, and Lax Nomad. For now, let's begin with what is and forever will be the Roper Report. It's time for some news. We have six stories today. A baker's dozen! starting with our number one gta 6 cover art has been revealed pre-orders begin june 25th i'm going to read pretty quickly from tom phillips at i hold on what's up there's a video yes i've not seen this kevin can you put on sound let tim just bask in it

11:28that's all they had to do come on that's all they had to do come on

11:36Nick Scarpino:those colors are hot if this is the theme song that is gonna play every single time you turn the game on oh yeah I want I want that song to play once I hover over the tile on PlayStation god that's good start off with yeah that's a good call that's a good call too Rockstar has

11:51Blessing Adeoye Jr.:just revealed the cover artwork for gta 6 and announced that pre-orders for the long-awaited blockbuster will finally begin on june 25th the game's artwork was revealed this morning in a brief 30 second teaser video that's now live on rockstar's youtube channel to be clear this is not the game's next trailer we're still waiting for that to land at some point i sure do wonder when

12:11Nick Scarpino:that point will be i do wonder what day what month and day when could we get a new trailer for gta 6 uh i mean so let's start there real quick are you excited for a gta 6 trailer probably one week from today on june 25th i mean i hope i hope it happens right i expect it to happen i expect it to happen what why they didn't do it now right like they just announced that it's happening we're gonna be getting something new it's not just pre-orders going up it's not just like a web page is just gonna go up they're gonna want to get that mainstream attention pointing at like Yo, you can buy it now, y 'all.

12:50That's a good point. Actually, that's a really good point. I was going to say the thing of Rockstar's Rockstar's GTA. They can do whatever they want. But there's nothing that's going to drive more pre-orders in a moment than dropping a trailer. And a GTA trailer especially.

13:02Nick Scarpino:GTA 6's trailer broke records on video sites. YouTube, Twitter, across the internet, it broke records of most viewed, all that stuff, most shared, all of that. I think they're going to do that again with their next trailer. And yeah, you need that call to action. what do you think the trailer is going to be is it just going to be more of what we've seen just random clips of action or do you do you think we get something more focused and specific i think it's gonna be similar to what we got last time like i'm trying to think back and i know that we've years ago before we did a getting hype for gta 6 video that was like probably four or five years ago real talk at this point um and we watched the old uh gta trailers and it's like they all have a style to them they're like they're not really a let's show gameplay type um like it's all in game but it's like presented very cinematically yeah you know what i mean i expect i do expect that similar type of vibe and i think and i think that's fine i i one of the reasons i was leaning towards almost being like no we don't because i i feel like we've seen what we've needed to see and for the next one or two trailers i kind of i do want a gameplay overview you don't need to do that for a pre-order trailer no no no that's i expect at some point we get a gameplay overview welcome to the vice city and we walk through like all the cool shit that you can do just give me eight to ten minutes of just goodness now we're getting some more information here right yeah june 25th means pre-order dates are coming out that means that within a week we will know the price of gta 6 we will no longer be speculating and having all of this conversation about the price of gta 6 without knowing we will then turn to having conversation with knowing yeah which will be more annoying i don't know who knows but it really does depend it really does depend um but then it's like we expect them to drop a trailer that's rockstar fashion that would make sense i think it'd be very stupid for them not to own that moment but could they do something different is there something bigger could they do a showcase should they do a showcase i don't think so i think they're less more i agree that less is more it's the weird balance because i i i feel two ways i know i just said give me a gameplay overview thing 10 minutes like i i want that at some point i also think you don't need to show too much yeah you know what i mean like gameplay overview is great if you want to get into an online gameplay overview once we get even closer to the game that's great but i don't want to sit here for 30 minutes talking about GTA and watching GTA clips and doing all these things.

15:34I want the surprises to come in the moment as I'm playing the game. So I'll lean towards no, don't do a showcase. And I think because you don't need to do a showcase. You're GTA. Like you mentioned, a trailer will break records on its own.

15:47Nick Scarpino:Yeah. I think that's fine to do. I think you want to minimize ways that you can bring in criticism. Okay. So I feel like doing a showcase on stage or not, i do think kind of like welcomes more conversation than just like hey here's the game yeah you know what it is because we're doing a lot of the we're making the content for them yeah me you i jim everyone every entire world every gaming youtuber out there they put up a two-minute trailer and we make thousands and thousands of hours of content around that trailer yeah we're the showcase for them so yeah i love that there's just a gator running i know let's talk about this cover of course do you like it i mean it looks like every other gta trailer i do like it though i think colors are great i would go as far as saying i love it i feel like this is exactly what i would want from a gta cover and i feel like they could have strayed from this path i think they always would have had this kind of like look to it but i liked it they're really going into this like key art uh vibe that we've had for gta so far like that top middle image right that looks very similar if it's not the exact same as we've yeah i'm pretty sure we've seen thumbnails for like the last like five years but um do you have any thoughts as we see as we see all this of course a lot of stuff you'd expect from gta but with more that vice city vibe right where you look at the top right you have the dude doing a wheel in the motorcycle you have the helicopter on the top left which i want to say every gta cover has a helicopter in the top left yeah somebody double check out we did uh oh we did do we had to like draw the cover from memory and like i remember some of us getting that wrong it might have been me too but um one thing i just want to of like why i love this is i'm a vice city kid like i know that there's a lot of that the conversation about like what is the best and what's the favorite of the trilogy yeah but like vice city kind of hit different because three came out of nowhere it blew all over my minds and we're just little like i was a little kid and all of us were just like oh my god you know what i mean like who can survive with six stars the longest like we're doing some bad shit as an 11 year old right but then that allowed us to be hype for the release of Vice City so it was like we were caught up in that hype cycle and then it being there midnight release playing it like oh my god and then San Andreas was two years after that and I love San Andreas because 90s and hip-hop like that was like oh my god but I think that uh my age group hit the point of just like I think that inarguably San Andreas is probably the highest quality video game but Vice City just hit me at a point that i'm like it will never not be my favorite yeah and i look at this and when i think vice city of course you think the blue and pink i love that they're adding that yellow though i like some of that bad boys miami heat action going on um but i think about that car in the bottom left right vice city 80s yeah we're still getting 80s vibes from this but it is modernized we're getting the pink motorcycle motorcycles introduced in vice city yeah and i very much associate them with that right um being able to fly the helicopter could you in three oh in three i don't remember i think you would maybe only the dodo was in three and then the helicopter uh was introduced in um vice city it's been a long time i might begin this wrong but i look at this and i very much think they're making references to the original vice city i love that yeah no i mean i'm i'm right there with you as far as like this being a very gta ass cover and it kind of rocks for that i love that they're staying staying the course and yeah like it it's i i guess i look at this in the read i get is like oh yeah miami like we're still like i the from the crocodile to like the uh the boat on the bottom right to the baddie on the left to the dude on the right like yeah like this is giving me all the vibes that i would expect from this setting and i am more of a san andreas dude but also i do think that there's something iconic and very lovable about vice city you know like i all three games were games that i played at addison's house san andreas i eventually owned and that was like my gta was san andreas but i remember my first time playing vice city at addison's and we had played three before that he had owned three and it's similar to what you're talking about where we're driving around you know my mind's kind of blown of like oh man i can drive anywhere in the city and blow stuff up that's cool but that it kind of stopped at that once we got to vice city there was a flavor introduced to gta that was like oh snap the 80s this is dude like this is potent like there is something special here now i think that we take it for granted now that like vice city was the thing that introduced a generation to the 80s you know like my generation we learned so much about the music and the colors and just the cocaine energy of it all through vice city through the performances of uh of the actors through tommy versetti you know what i mean like his hawaiian shirt like there's just so much there that like i feel made that game special that wasn't just oh it's more gta you know and miami as a setting was like incredible like such a refreshing step from uh what we had in gta3 with liberty city which awesome but like i love that it felt so different you know yeah now is this good enough confirmation for you that this thing is actually happening at the end of november i do love that that wasn't said here and i love it just for the chaos of it like i am like my gut instinct would be oh this means that this is coming uh in november for sure yeah but then why wouldn't they at least put the date in here i get you don't want to put two dates on the thing but like yeah don't confuse people but like i don't know maybe just let people know pre-order is coming the biggest thing let me just take a step back i do think it's coming november 19th i do think that this is confirmation that that that is it's happening i also think that this marketing beat that they had right now it's for us it's for us to get the word out it's for the the media the games media it's for the people that are locked in and tapped in i don't think that this this june 25th pre-order date confirmation and cover art is necessarily their pitch to the world right and that's why i think the trailer isn't here and And that's why I think it's like the trailer drops with the pre-order date and all the information like price and things like that.

22:03Nick Scarpino:But what do you think? Oh, this makes me more confident. This feels like, OK, we are actually beginning our marketing rollout in a bigger way. Right. I think this will this is the baton pass to the actual pre-order day, which will probably come with the trailer, which will baton pass to a couple months from now getting another trailer, which will baton pass to the launch of this thing. right i for me this is the start of the wave it has me very excited for it yeah me too me too i think it's a good step i'm very curious about this price do you have any any thoughts and we've gone back and forth on this so much i'm sure i've like hopped back and forth on it i'm of the mind of 70 don't ruin a don't ruin a good thing yeah i think being able to say hey this is the same price as all the other games that you're getting right now makes a strong case for why you need to pick this game up i think once you increase it to 80 90 100 again i think they can get away with it but i think it's an i don't think you need to do it i think you have so many other avenues for revenue that like i don't think the box copies of gta 6 is where it ends it is getting gta 6 into your hands and then you being like i should get shark cards because i'm playing online and i want to get x y i want to get all the money for my gta character and all this stuff right i think that becomes most important so i i think don't fuck that up 70 even and then they'll get more money from us down the road i do think statements that they've made recently lean towards me for the first time believing that the game might be 70 um but i i think it's 80 and i think it makes as a from the perspective of business i think 80 makes the most sense in the world because I don't think that's going to affect their sales in any reasonable way and I think that everything you're saying about it's a long game that's all true.

23:55Nick Scarpino:I don't think it's going to affect the install base which is what you're talking about for a long term thing. I also do think that extra$10 for millions of people is going to add up more and more and more for them to build the story that they care so much about which is being the biggest entertainment launch in history. How many records can they break? How much can they get in that first weekend and that includes unit sales but it also is money right oh sure yeah um and we just need to be realistic about what this game is the most expensive game ever made oh 100 like the longest development time a game's ever had like is that true probably i imagine how long did it take him to make duke nukem forever that's a good question i don't think this long i actually don't think this long well here's the thing because we're saying longest development cycle because i'm looking at it since red dead redemption 2 right i mean however you want to look at it i feel like by any metric because then yeah we're talking about from 2018 here's the thing right we're talking about from 2018 to 2026 by that metric that might be true naughty dog is probably gonna beat it by the time it gets intergalactic yeah in like two years or whatever it is yeah that's interesting i mean i imagine gta was being worked on before red dead released i'm sure to some extent to some extent yeah um either way point is this game is astronomically expensive oh yes so if mario kart had the gall fucking mario kart world the game that that is and i love that game but like i to my deathbed will resent that game being 80 there have been what two games that have come out or tried to come out at$80.

25:35Mario Kart World, which did come out at$80. And Outer Worlds 2. Which was fucking insane. Which, having played that game, that is super insane.

25:42Nick Scarpino:Everything about that is insane. Whoever even thought to float, that's insane. Someone thinking to float GTA 6 at$80 is not insane. Sure. I'm not saying I want this. I'm just saying it's like, I can't understand. If they release this at$70, I can't even imagine the fight of whoever won that in that room would have to put up. because it just makes too much sense not to do that literal sense we will see in about a week

26:09Blessing Adeoye Jr.:uh let's bring in some super chats for you kobe art says so with the gta pre-order going live on the 25th can we assume the next actual game trailer goes live then will it be gameplay oriented we already talked about that i'm still wondering what that trailer looks like you know what i mean like again it could be just more if you can find i guess if you're gonna do a trailer like the last couple that we've seen you just have to isolate some more cool shit you know what i mean like what are the other cool shit that we haven't shown yet in that cinematic way that we can make people go oh man that's cool and make people like me and you make content we've had two trailers two trailers yeah yeah and i would have to like re-watch trailer too to remind myself oh it's all there i mean i feel like it's just a bunch of clips of the city yeah we should definitely kevin if you can go to the rockstar site link that i have if you can scroll down one thing that i i don't know if you've seen this um on their website here keep scrolling down try refreshing the website because they do have an overlooking view of vice city that's moving oh yeah yeah i showed that oh you showed that yeah this yes this is new as well incredible

27:22Nick Scarpino:no that's an apple tv screensaver this is new on the on the rockstar website man that's that's awesome yeah wow sorry i almost started to feel real bless that's what i'm saying it's starting to feel real this game is coming out in november wow it kind of does give roku city a little bit

27:43Blessing Adeoye Jr.:um let's bring us to roku city that's so such good content there let's bring in eco is matt 1992 says thanks to the daily content and enjoyment uh have a baby on the way in six to eight weeks any advice from the newly crowned timmy g or papa timmy g dude just listen and

28:00Nick Scarpino:take it in man like because i i the one big thing i'll say is everything anyone says about it is real second to second everything changes but it is the greatest thing of all time and as annoying as that sounds it's true yeah just like let it wash over you take every second in and listen to your partner just be there for your partner that's the the biggest thing and everything will then just kind of work out even if it's hard it'll work out um zach halford writes in and says do you

28:27Blessing Adeoye Jr.:think gta6 pre-orders will have a version with early access or do they want everything everyone playing on the same day it better not have that early access that's my thing is like i won't be

28:38Nick Scarpino:mad if it's 80 i'll just be like i expected that if it's a hundred dollars or 90 then i'm gonna be like you motherfuckers like i do think that there is a breaking point for like my level of i understand what's happening here and i don't like it but i understand it if they have a hundred dollar collector's edition that comes with fucking shark money or fucking statues or whatever the hell posters yeah i don't care yeah that's totally fine will it come with the game maybe not because people are stupid and collector's editions most of the time are stupid um if they offer like a weak early access or something i'm gonna be pissed i'm gonna be and i know i know like i know that standard i don't like that practice i really really don't like it i don't i don't love the practice i for certain games i don't care gta 6 i'm with you too i'm with you yeah like it happens sometimes where i'm like i don't care if somebody's playing ufc three days early play ufc i'll get to it but like gta 6 is different i think gta 6 should be one of those experiences and i think the people who make gta 6 know this yep this is an experience that everybody should be experiencing together day one like that i think that's important to the launch of this product so i don't expect that aaron lime writes in and says that cover art sure is cover art yeah that's i mean not the tough thing like i think if you're a super fan of gta there's stuff to like appreciate and pick apart and look at when it comes to the cover art but if you're somebody who's like not that engaged with it yeah the cover it's another gta cover art which i think is fine i think that's what you'd expect if anything i mean i think it looks good for that is there a couple yeah that's what i'm saying it's like like there there was more art put into this than like what what would a vice city or a gta 6 cover art be that gets people excited

30:23Blessing Adeoye Jr.:you know what i mean they nailed it um let's see here raptiface says with this insane world we live in how crazy would it be if this just did average it's a millennial callback in gen z and alpha just don't care i think this might be a hot take of mine i don't think there's as much

30:44Nick Scarpino:difference between the generations as we act like there is okay like i love that we can just make arguments oh that's such a millennial thing that's such a gen z thing and it's like if we really just take a step back we're talking about the same things like i i understand to a level there will be people that don't care about gta that's gonna change when people see gta because gta is good it is that fun and it is that special so yeah yeah i don't i don't see gta as a franchise that benefits off of nostalgia i think gta benefits off of i think content and shareability and being able to go to your friends yo i did this thing and i drove under yo i found bigfoot over here and they're like bigfoot and it's like yeah over on mount chilead yeah there's bigfoot and i'm like I gotta go check other aliens.

31:31Nick Scarpino:We still don't are there aliens, right? Like I think GTA is more about how it impacts in the moment, as opposed to being like, Oh, you remember GTA five, come check out GTA six. Like, I don't think I think gameplay wise and what it offers actually is way more universal than it being just a millennial thing. And I think I even think to your Gen Z, Gen alpha thing, what are they playing a lot? Games like Fortnite, games like Roblox. I think GTA six will take a lot of cues from the, I already in GTA five, there is that shared world that people use as a third space that they're living in and there is the custom content part of gta 5 that's very important it's all it's actually honestly always been important for gta i remember watching gta san andreas videos on youtube and being hooked watching people do stunts in gta san andreas like that's the type of shit that makes gta pop off that's the type of shit that i think gen z and gen alpha actually fuck with and so and i think

32:24Blessing Adeoye Jr.:they're going to lean more into that with this one um let's see we'll do one more i got time for one more let's do this one from el capitan 2293 who says i originally oh this isn't gta related but i started i originally thought andy and bless hadn't been around because they were testing out the steam machine now i just think andy hasn't stopped crying after the spurs lost yeah andy's not been in a good place guys yeah he's not been in a good place um i'll do this one that is all

32:54Nick Scarpino:i'll say because i know there's been some speculation and people have been hitting me up i i don't want to speak for kind of funny but i can to some extent i have not heard anything about the steam machine i know there's rumors about it coming out in the neck they're being announced the next week wait no was it june 25th that the rumors were i think it was that's crazy coincidence yeah yeah uh and then for release on june 30th which i only remember because it's my birthday but um i i've heard nothing i've seen no emails greg hasn't talked to me so i don't i got something to show you in the lab yeah no i'm just kidding yeah no i've also heard nothing i was reading uh because of the way things sometimes work works here where i feel like greg contains so much knowledge that like and he'll share it randomly at a meeting and i'm like oh shit i didn't know you're doing that that's crazy um i was reading some of the rumors about steam machines and people having review stuff and i was like man that's crazy i don't think we got it and i thought more about it i was like what if greg's been keeping the secret that's where i'm at yeah i don't think that's what i wouldn't i wouldn't think i would think you would know i would think i would know but you never know with greg you never know you never fucking know

34:04Blessing Adeoye Jr.:with greg tim we got some more show here to talk about so let's move on to story number two but before we do i want to tell you about patreon.com slash kind of funny and youtube.com slash kind of funny games where you can go and get the kind of funny membership which allows you to get shows ad free speaking of ads let us tell you about our sponsors this episode's brought to you

38:43Blessing Adeoye Jr.:And we're back. With story number two, Bungie is set to lose roughly 400 staff in summer layoffs, it is claimed. This is from Charlie Champion at Insider Gaming. following the sunsetting of destiny 2 and the generally underwhelming performance of marathon it seems that bungie is set for a wave of layoffs this summer with at least 50 of its workforce on the chopping block the percentage is significant enough as is but when you consider the size and scope of bungie which has around 800 staff members that would mean at least 400 employees are at risk of losing their jobs the news comes from french journalist sylvain on x who shared in a recent tweet that bungee should expect man i'm only laughing because they went from calling it x to calling it a tweet we still haven't figured it out we still haven't we haven't figured it out expect massive layoffs in the uh this summer he went on to elaborate that based on what he's hearing at least 50 percent of bungee staff could be affected this is one that i believe popped yesterday i was waiting on more news outlets to report it i still don't see that many talking about it so i'd say take this with a big grain of salt but i at least wanted to feed it in there and have the conversation about it because damn damn i mean well i mean i i believe it

Read the full transcript

39:55Nick Scarpino:i believe it all and it fucking sucks 400 people half the people half the people at bungie yeah so what'd you pay for what'd you pay for sony he paid to get swindled you know because like it's fucking wild like what horrible management what disastrous forecasting you would have to have to be where we're at right now. And I understand there's a lot of factors at play. They squandered Destiny. We're talking about Bungie. We're talking about half of one of what I would say is one of the more talented developers in existence in history. I'm trying to find, because this is a story we talked about last year about when Sony acquired Bungie, it seems like Bungie had misrepresented like how well certain things or how not well certain things were going um i can't find it as i'm doing my my in real time scrolling but like no matter how it shakes out it just sucks for everything involved because no matter what destiny i think is a valuable ip that is a valuable game with a hardcore fan base and i think there's more that you can do with destiny that would keep you afloat as a studio right if you made destiny 3 if you found something there i also think marathon even though i really like that game and for as far as i can see the people who play marathon fucking love marathon and i test that game is great it sucks to see that it was a swing that just didn't work as far as finding an audience and finding money and continuing to sustain a developer like bungie where you have 800 developers i just wanted to take a step back with that right yeah that's whose problem it's not the problem of the gamers it's the problem of the people designing the systems in place for the product like there needs to be a level of expectations for what success looks like and if those aren't realistic you can't expect them to happen that then results in half your team getting let go oh sure you know it's like it's just so boneheaded and i i don't understand how they could have looked at marathon and been like, all right, well, we needed to do this.

42:13Nick Scarpino:What is this? Have they said what this is? Do we know? I'm not sure. But we could all look at it and be like, well, it's not hidden. This is not hidden where it needs to. And it's like, but people like it. But the people playing it like people are happy with the game. It's like, I'm with you. That does feel like the sentiment towards the game from people that play the game are into it. Yeah. So there's a check of success. Where are things going wrong? Y 'all didn't come up with a good way to monetize this game the way you need to for it to be a success of the way you're looking. Because it's not the critical reception.

42:49Nick Scarpino:It's not the like people playing the game actually liking it or not reception. It's the financial business of it all. Y 'all fucked up the business. Yep. And another thing I'll throw in there too is the extraction shooter of it all. When you zoom out and just look at that genre, right? obviously we're seeing many publishers many studios chase after the extraction shooter in the same way that they chased after the battle royale in the same way that they chased after the hero shooter right you see these trends in multiplayer you see these money-making opportunities and it is all right how do we get in on that how do we make something out of that and i think you know video games are such it's the combination of business and art and i do think that there's art there as far as oh the extraction shooter genre is cool though like i'm playing marathon i'm like damn y 'all are actually doing cool shit with this but also when we're talking about the business side of it i feel like for extraction shooters you are either the biggest thing ever or you just fucking trip and fall you're either um arc raiders or i forget the name of the one that started that is super popular tarkov tarkov thank you you're either escaping tarkov or your arc raiders or we don't hear from you yeah like and for i think for a studio like bungie or have the space to be in between exactly or you have a small audience you made a small game a small game they're enjoying it you checked where you needed to check but bungie following up destiny 2 yeah in a time when you were acquired by sony yeah it's like okay i i it just sucks man let me remind y 'all too that um epic is reportedly working on a disney extraction shooter yeah they are how well do we think that is going to do and when that doesn't hit those heights or if that doesn't hit those sites i don't want to count it out but if it doesn't hit those heights what is that going to do for those studios that are working on that right how much are they investing in i do think it's important to point out though bless yeah that you saying that like you know hey maybe it will whatever we sat here for years saying the same thing about marathon and here we are oh yeah it's like why we all we're doing is looking at patterns oh yeah and trying to point them out we're not rocket scientists okay we're just here what would make us think the disney thing is going to work i why are we giving it any space for like well maybe there was a clip i had posted or i i had clipped out from a kfgd way earlier in the year before they announced it where i mentioned i was talking to andy i was like we're gonna get within next year a disney extraction shooter that takes it from fortnight right and i absolutely nailed it the reason why i absolutely nailed it is because it's such a predictable boneheaded idea it's such a huh okay what's a big company epic disney disney oh they have a collaboration what's hot right now okay extraction they have a battle royale extraction shooters are the next big thing they're probably gonna make a disney extraction shooter it's that predictable everybody like yeah like the failure is also that predictable and i i want to give it the shot because i do i there is that little chance there's that smallest chance but it really is like a lottery ticket i i also i do want to say this is uh something i've been wanting to bring up right now it's kind of a weird time but we're just semi-time about disney games yeah i do want to give a shout out to disney in the gaming sphere and you know we are friends with john drake i don't know what john drake's actually doing at all he wouldn't tell me anything ever i want that very clear i'm so impressed and i don't know that he had anything to do with what i'm saying here when we think back about the last like couple years they're making calls that i'm like and Most of them are like, just let's go back to old games and stuff.

46:21Nick Scarpino:Yeah. But some are new things. Star Wars Galactic Racer. Oh, yeah. Like, what? Yeah. Who decided to do that? That's a good idea. You know, the Toy Story collection that they just announced. Did you watch that trailer? Yeah. Did you play Toy Story any of the games back in the day? Like on the N64 or PS1, whatever that 3D platformer was. The Toy Story games were surprise-like. We always talk about Lion King and specifically Aladdin from the SNES Genesis days. Yeah. But like the Toy Story games there were pretty good and like had a lot of sauce to them. Like they actually used the actual 3D renderings and animations of Woody provided by Pixar for their Super Nintendo game.

47:00Nick Scarpino:And like things like that are just like, wow, that's really cool. You get to N64 and I think it was Toy Story 2 people are a big fan of. But Toy Story 3 on the PS3. That I've heard really good things about. It's one of those like all time banger like cousin games. Yeah. But it's like, it is the cream of the crop. It's way better than you'd expect it to be. The game was awesome, and there was like a toy box mode, which you just got to play with toys. It was brilliant. And the way they put out that trailer last week, showing off all the games, and then building up to, like, here's the collection, and Toy Story 3 Remastered.

47:34Nick Scarpino:It's like they just know what they're doing, and I just feel like they're, like, making the right moves in video games, which to me means Simpsons Hit and Run is going to be announced sooner than later. Yeah, I hope so. I think we're building to it. I really do. Here's the thing, right? Because I think to the exact points you're making, man, we're not even talking about budget anymore, but it's fine. To the exact points you're making, those are decisions that are made by people who know what's up. Yep. When you have big money exchanged between Epic and Disney, I think it's out of those people's hands.

48:02It is more so about what does the money say? They put the dollar bills to their ears and the money whispers back, extraction, extraction. And you're like, oh, okay, well. Blow it all up. Blow it all up. the story remakes or remasters or whatever they're gonna make five cents you know it's gonna make a lot of money potentially i don't know you have like a two percent chance but it's the thing that you're gonna do extraction shooter and it's like okay thank you money i'm gonna do that i guess god anyway i hope the bungee story isn't true i'm with you that it probably is but

48:33Blessing Adeoye Jr.:fingers crossed that our friends at bungee are okay because we don't want to see anybody get laid off nowadays because it's happening a lot story number three let's talk about starfox let's talk about starfox nintendo has unveiled a new poster for starfox uh i'm pulling from a tweet from nintendo europe t minus one week until hashtag starfox launches on hashtag nintendo switch 2 as you can see it looks like a movie poster if you're an audio listener on the top they have the name names of the characters you can see the ship in the middle you have a planet you have the big starfox like logo which i love is this this is new for this game right uh yeah it's or like updated for this update i know this looks like how it's always yeah i mean the full

49:14Nick Scarpino:white like matte look that's all new yeah and there might be like swipe slight tweaks to the i like this version of it yeah it's great i love this yeah plus i prayed for times like this yeah i mean like i just i love starfox so nearly and dearly and it just i've just been fucked around for so long and i always try to find the fun in them and like look there's been ups and downs even just like the reactions to this game in particular but at the end of the day once the dust settled from my initial shock of how the characters looked and the fact that they were remaking 64 again i then got to sit there and go well i get to replay 64 again and there's not many things in life i want more than that because one of the things i love the most about 64 is how cinematic it was and still is one of the first video games ever specifically console games to have voice acting like full voice acting and specifically a nintendo game and it added the rumble pack there was the introduction of the rumble pack vibrations in video games like that level of immersion and you shoot something something blows up and it's shaking like now we're just like uh duh every game it was a novelty it was shipped in the box with star fox 64 and i just love how this remake seems to be trying to push that cinematic quality even more uh with the cut scenes that they're adding and just like the the looks of it all but this poster this poster tells me everything i want to know man that's titania in the back oh oh what's the name of that what's the name of their ship the great fox the great fox the great fox yeah that's pretty sick i love that they get their character names up there my boy falco getting love like that this is so great but the nintendo presents they don't bust that out that often every once in a while they put it on something when they're like yo we want you to pay attention look at this shit doesn't always pay off for them could you imagine if instead of kind of funny the company was called star tim and the studio instead of the spare bedroom was called the great tim is that not what fox is doing here it is it is interesting that his father you know what fox mcleod's father's name is it's james isn't it james mcleod yeah he named his son fox i'm gonna name my son human but here's the thing everyone brings this up as it's like how fucking crazy is that it's crazy have you heard of guy richie fuck shit it's crazy he's this guy and he's rich it's crazy crazy you hide for starfox dude what if i told you that last night i was playing xenoblade chronicles and I got to a point where I was like, okay, I can save and stop.

51:56And then I tabbed over to Nintendo Switch Online N64 and I booted up Star Fox just to play the first level. Just in anticipation for this game. Good. I am excited, actually. Good. Yeah.

52:06Nick Scarpino:I'm very excited.

52:08Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Straight away. Story number four, Black Ops 1 and 2 are coming to PS4 and PS5. This is Blair Marnell at GameSpot. While the older Call of Duty games have remained on Xbox through the console generations, PlayStation owners haven't seen the first two Black Ops games available on their hardware since the ps3 era that's going to change this summer as call of duty black ops and black ops 2 make their modern debut on ps4 and ps5 the black ops ports were rumored earlier this month but they've now been confirmed by developer treyark for our july release via social media per the announcement the ports were handled by iron galaxy however these are not remasters of the original games in other words don't expect dramatic visual upgrades here's the thing i think this is kind of bizarre but also i fuck with it i get it because i love

52:53Nick Scarpino:me black ops 1 and 2 man this is cool it's hilarious that this hasn't already been the case and when i when i read this yesterday i was like how is that not already a thing but then i was also like ps3 game am i really that surprised it's not a thing because it's like because of the type of game call of duty is like i don't know ever go back why would they go back and i know the answer for me would be campaigns because like the call of duty campaigns specifically during this era like they were standout awesome but people love these games for the multiplayer and i'm just like i i don't i don't think that they would be doing the full kit and caboodle like let's make this like a big thing that we're pushing because i i'm out of the call of duty ecosystem i could be totally wrong here but like don't a lot of the newer games just like remake a lot of the old maps and like yeah so i feel like all right that energy whether or not this to how people the fans want it will live on that way but then you think back to well xbox has always had these just because xbox has been so good about its kind of like cross generation uh backwards compatibility and these games have been active on xbox i remember it was either last year or the year before where we were talking about the player bases for these games spiking i forget the reason why i forget if it was like a if they just became backwards compatible or there was another reason chat remind me if uh there was like a specific detail there oh jack republic is playing russia and it's 1-1 tied at the end it's crazy or no yeah okay anyway um but yeah i'm excited because these games haven't been available on modern on ps4 and ps5 at least and like these are i have such nostalgia for black ops 1 and black ops 2 like playing sticks and stones on the ship map in black ops 2 with my friends four player split screen every single night in college oh bring me back that's awesome bring me back that's awesome i love it though like i think that this is that we always talk about the game preservation and it's like well i understand that like maybe they wouldn't want to do this because they just have new call of duty it's like i think about a franchise i love that was annualized tony hawk and i want all of the old specific games back you know what i mean it's like i don't just want like a new tony hawk that like kind of gives you some of the other stuff it's like no i want thug i want thug too you get what saying like so i like the idea of i like that they're bringing back black ops 1 and 2 the ps3 and 360 uh editions how well does this sell uh probably just fine yeah i mean i don't think it's because it's barely niche right yeah like i mean it's call of duty though and so like niche for call of duty i wonder though like i want a remaster of the old ass games like does that speak to a paying Call of Duty audience.

55:29If you give it a good enough promotional pick,

55:34Nick Scarpino:I think you can get a million. Oh, yeah. I think a million is pretty easy. Which is like, damn, goddamn Call of Duty. Also, I want to give a selfie you're wrong. I said Russia. I was confused because I was like, I don't know. South Africa is what it is. South Africa RSA. So that's on me.

55:51Blessing Adeoye Jr.:I apologize. I get that. Everybody's like, well, Jezak is going up against Russia. No. so start number five yakuza creators new game you're telling me rsa is not russia you would think so right no rsa yeah south africa yeah yeah well yakuza creators new game seems to have lost its director after net ease reportedly pulled funding this is rebecca valentine at kotaku negoshi studios the studio created by toshihiro negoshi and daisuke sato after the departure from the Yakuza developer Ryu Gagatoku Studio in 2021 has seemingly been dying a slow death over the last year. Today, another nail seems to have been driven into the coffin, with Sato now listing himself as ex-Negoshi Studio on his Twitter bio.

56:37Blessing Adeoye Jr.:We first heard about Negoshi Studio's troubles in February 2025. Then it was reported that NetEast, the company backing Negoshi Studio's debut game, gang of dragon was pulling out of its many of its recent gaming investments and would be paring back on the money it was willing to spend on marketing for the crime epic at the time it seemed like negoshi studios would still be able to keep gang of dragon going in spite of this and in fact we saw even a brand new trailer for the game at the game awards this past december but now things are looking sketchy again this past march reports came in that net ease would stop funding negoshi studios in May, but that the studio wanted an additional$44.4 million to finish and ship Gang of Dragon.

57:22Blessing Adeoye Jr.:It sounded like Negoshi Studios might look for funding elsewhere, but the months since have not provided any new reassurance. And now, today, studio co-founder and director Daisuke Sato has updated his Twitter slash ex-bio to say ex-Negoshi Studio Inc., suggesting that he is no longer employed there. Though it's possible the studio could continue without him, signs are not looking good for the continuation of either negoshi studios or gang of dragon what a mess what was that what a mess oh yeah just all of it yeah this has been an ongoing one that we've been covering but to get here i feel like this is the nail in the coffin yeah i think it was the little bit of hope that we had going into summer game fest and everything that like maybe a microsoft or somebody with a lot of money could uh would have stepped in to fund it but seeming that not yeah i mean it's it's a disaster out there and i i'm it's so

58:15Nick Scarpino:dark to think about the stories we've been covering just this week but like all of the signs that we've seen except for the one mike bought um all of the signs that we've seen all the things that we've heard it's like we were talking about jason schreier's uh xbox video earlier and i i need to keep saying this jason schreier's youtube channel go watch these videos oh yeah he's my favorite youtuber currently it's incredible he's so damn good anything you've ever heard about jason schreier and like why we love him it's like distilled into these just 20 minute videos that are like my god this guy's he's built different yep um but through all of that it's like the word bloodbath keeps coming up and it's like it it really does feel like right now nothing is safe no one should feel comfortable in the positions they're in and it doesn't seem like this week's even going to be the worst of the weeks at what point does it end does it end that makes me scared that makes me really scared for the upcoming weeks yeah i mean one of the things that jason mentions in that video he was talking about um you know why certain companies would be acquired by xbox because back then the strategy was there's a multi-pronged strategy one of the prongs being game pass and we need content on game pass and so you get in developers like double fine you get in developers like compulsion and and devs that you wouldn't associate with like the most triple of a's but they're gonna get games out and they're gonna help you get content that's good on your platform um and as i read through this story there was a part of my brain that's like man who wouldn't want a new game from the studio who brings you from a director who used to bring you yakuza who's making just another with the star with the star right like those games are so present those games have such a an audience to them but you know i think when we talk about the infrastructure that is rgg studios and how like how they operate how quickly they're able to churn out these games and their processes i wonder if other companies look at that and go oh we don't want something that's like a double a hit that's going that like it's going to require that sort of like consistency we want something that's going to be triple a quadruple a that's going to get us all the money now and i'm like man you have talent right in front of you yeah that you are just overlooking it's baffling to me that they can't just look at where the money is yeah instead of where the money might be yeah and i know i say that even though this is a new studio so i'm sure a lot of publishers would look at that and go well we don't know if the money is there yet which i totally understand and get but totally and yeah i mean just doing some simple math and making some assumptions here it's like all right well they have star power in this that cost money they were at multiple keely events that cost money yeah right like they said how

1:01:03Blessing Adeoye Jr.:much they were looking for i think they said what 40 something 44.4 million to how much have they

1:01:08Nick Scarpino:spent already you know yeah like that's that's crazy yeah tim we talked about a lot of big news today we sure did and if somebody could pick up gang of dragons that'll be even more big news but if i wanted something smaller say the tiniest news i needed to know about where would i go you'd go to our last story the we news channel where we talk about all the small news items that you

1:01:29Blessing Adeoye Jr.:need to know about story number six we news tim another game has been added to the september 24th bloodbath of video games garfield escape from monday kevin has a trailer pulled up greg says wait a second boys wait a second the gar if back is what he writes i love it i love it yep

1:01:50Nick Scarpino:couldn't have said it better myself um yeah this is the one this is the one that is gonna destroy everyone else on you musha control better back the fuck off silent hill townfall

1:02:01Blessing Adeoye Jr.:get the fuck away the garf is back here's what i'll say because right now we're seeing the trailer what have i told you that as we get into gameplay it looks like bubsey 4d it really does It looks just like Bubsy 4D.

1:02:12Nick Scarpino:This is weird. I get that it is an orange cat. So how else is he going to move? But it is a little weird that it has a very similar art style. The levels look like Bubsy 4D. Huh. Now, Buss, what if I told you I'm not mad at this? I'm not mad at it either. Here's the thing, right? You find me on a summer day in 2016 and hand me this, I'd play it. That's a great way to put it. That's a great way to put it. In 2016, there weren't that many games coming out.

1:02:41Blessing Adeoye Jr.:different time different time i had a lot more time on my hands um spider-man brand new day inspired suit is getting added to spider-man 2 on july 28th that's cool do you see it yeah it looks good it's good it looks damn i should have linked it here my bad um from game developer other side entertainment the studio spearheaded by veteran developers like war inspector and paul neerth has laid off staff in a statement in a statement sent to game developer a spokesperson said the following quote after the cancellation of a game under development codenamed argos other side entertainment had to sadly say goodbye to 17 team members effective end of may and quote super sad news there um arcs oh kevin's pulled up the suit looks real good oh yeah i always love when

1:03:27Nick Scarpino:they do this me too i mean i'm gonna tell you this i'm gonna boot this game up on july 28th yeah like why not i love this game i love just playing it even for five minutes of just swinging around i love what what fun you know i was i was um scrolling on social media i was on twitter and i don't know why i didn't want to say it but i saw i'm ashamed all right i hate the website so much but i still fucking use it uh and it was a clip of spider-man 2 somebody just swinging around spider-man 2 and i'm like man we we peaked at game mechanics was the clip just someone swinging through spider-man 2 or was it the clip that i saw that i'm pretty sure is the same one you saw of somebody like recreating what they should have done for the No Way Home ending, where it started off and it was Tom Holland's Spider-Man suit swinging through with his theme music playing and it transitions into Andrew Garfield's suit with his theme music playing and then transitions to Toad McGuire's and they remake moves that they each do in their big swing sequences.

1:04:24That's fucking cool.

1:04:25Nick Scarpino:It's fucking hot. No, I just saw somebody being like, oh man, this is where the spider swinging peaked or whatever. It's the thing where Twitter always takes, no matter what, it's always the craziest take um but i was watching the video and i'm like well i love spider-man 2 so i'm gonna watch the spider-man 2 video that's in front of me and yeah i think we peaked at like just swinging as a mechanic no matter the game like spider-man games and swinging whether it be the old spider-man 2 or the new spider-man 2 oh it just feels good every time every time there's something about the l2 and r2 the physical motion you as a person need to make to hit the buttons as he anchors to something to slingshot it's so satisfying i love it so much

1:05:05Blessing Adeoye Jr.:um arc system works showcase is set for june 24th where winds meet introduces homestead and dynamic pets and new update uh launching june 25th and then we have a psa from the director of the final fantasy 7 remakes uh this is a tweet that they put up uh user experience with final fantasy 7 remake and rebirth is gaining strong momentum across multiple platforms for those concerned about playtime the boost features make it possible to clear the games in a shorter time if you've been on the fence i highly encourage you to give them a try let's enjoy the journey to the conclusion

1:05:37Nick Scarpino:together uh and the i should have explained this better to you the reason i put this in was actually what it was quote tweeting uh which is final fantasy 7 remake and rebirth sales spike after revelation but then also it's because it's available on all consoles now so it's like they're building the excitement of like finish the story wherever you are on any platform uh and i the reason i included the quote tweet there is i've said this before but i really want to triple down on giving naoki hamaguchi the most flowers that the industry could possibly give him because he's been doing double triple quadruple duty the last couple years of not just maintaining a team together which another shout is jason schreier did you watch the final fantasy 7 video i've not should check it out uh the thesis of it is how are they able to make these three gigantic triple a games so close together yeah granted we are still talking about release from 2020 to 2027 so that's seven years but three games to this scale how'd they do it and it's like well the answer is we maintained the team like 90 of the team was able to stay together from iteration to iteration and like there was a lot of values watch jason's video for more on that but that was vision from tamaguchi it's on and that combined with actually needing to make the games combined with actually needing to go out and promote the games he's out here talking to anyone that'll talk to him about final fantasy 7 i love that you know what i'm saying what's up how did we get him here we got him here we got him here for rebirth oh we did get him here yeah i hope we do for revelation i want to give him so much props because like i am this is the model this is what we should be looking at like yeah i i guess if i have one ask i know i'm rambling here if i have one ask it is to read his interviews there's dozens of them at all times i was gonna i want

1:07:31Blessing Adeoye Jr.:to bring up the headline that published that was published eight hours ago from games radar final fantasy 7 revelations portrayal of an essential scene from the og jrpg made the game director naoki hamaguchi cry in each of his 40 playthroughs 40 playthroughs i know you're making game but like damn that's a long game revelation is playable from beginning to end oh man 40 playthroughs i just want to play through once and he's still crying at it man i'm excited i'm just like me for real i think when it all goes down that's that's it for we news we can get off music um when it all goes down i think by the time i finished i finished revelations say it it'll probably be up there as my favorite video game trilogy there we freaking go i don't i like it's granted i don't have that many trilogies i think about but like i mean this i think this

1:08:17Nick Scarpino:will be mine they're gonna pull it off i can't wait this game's unbelievable these games uh let's

1:08:25Blessing Adeoye Jr.:get into some super chats real quick before we get out of here um all these shoes right so when the birthday tax only now was able to start watching love you guys and thanks for everything thank you all these shoes anarchy 172 says excited for black ops 1 and 2 being ported but seriously where is the modern warfare 3 remaster this is what i want we don't have enough inner call of duty beef where we need black ops versus modern warfare beef because i'm i'm team black ops all the everyday when i read modern warfare i don't know man i start to try to dry heave a little bit oh i don't want to try to start it i don't want to play no warfare i'm on i'm on that black ops

1:09:05Nick Scarpino:tip you want to be the face of the black ops team i don't know that you want this uh i don't yeah I know I don't want to be the face of anything Call of Duty yeah I'm being honest but I just want to be the face of anything these days you know what I mean like I think about I'm just like what are we doing yeah we could just not do this we could just not subject ourselves to I think about it every anytime I read any social post him I'm like I can just leave it all I can just leave it all work in a dark room I don't know um but you know modern warfare gets all the love

1:09:33Blessing Adeoye Jr.:and i feel i'm like but black ops though uh jojo jojo jojo jojo writes in and says the design and quality of marathon does not suggest they were chasing a bag in any way can't blame bungie for making something they genuinely believed which here's the thing right i agree in theory video games are also a business and so you do have to make something that's going to sustain your business but i also i believe in what they made with marathon just artistically i think artistically and game design wise that shit is fucking fire i think they nailed it but it sucks that that's not always what catches fire in terms of sales and in um you know getting people in to support the product long term yep um sasquatch oni says if marathon were a story plus co-op game a la halo with challenges pvp etc it would have been gigantic was hyped until i heard its extraction just don't need and this is where i this is where i contradict myself because to that i say i don't want everything to be the same game and i don't know what the balance of that is it's difficult you

1:10:38Nick Scarpino:know i you don't want everything to be the same game but i think we just also need to be realistic about expectations of money does have to be made or else the art won't exist that's just how this has to work so that means that you need to be making specific types of art to be able to speak to a large enough audience to be able to support that art yeah so that other art can be made that is not going to make the money because it's not being made for money reasons it's being made for art reasons but if you don't do that first part you don't get that second part and that can you can have your feelings about that that's life yeah so i feel like there are certain developers where it's just like okay well you need to prove this before you can do anything else yeah and it should it should have been destiny proving that 100 but yeah you gotta figure out the house before

1:11:32Blessing Adeoye Jr.:you start putting up art uh let's see here aaron lion says activision let go of bungee for a reason pete parsons was selling some snake oil to buy more cars um austin austin rossborough says marathon is one of the highest quality fps experiences out there if the game is shut down it'll be so sad to see an amazing product not survive i agree with that austin we got that you're wrong from kebabs

1:11:59Nick Scarpino:a good one beyond good and evil 2 currently holds the record for the longest game development time beating metroid dread's record of 16 years do we count beyond good and evil 2 if it never comes out that's just a canceled video game it's not yet nobody is in an office typing in code that's in a beyond good and evil 2 document nobody nobody not one person at ubisoft is working on beyond good and evil 2 right now i can't believe it i don't know i don't believe it i don't know there's no like nobody's clocking into work every single day being like all right let's see how this fur on this character looks like in the game beyond good and evil 2 now let me let me let's be real about this like obviously i'd love these stats like it is fun to talk about like metro dread i will to this day and forever probably be my actual biggest surprise game announcement because it's like no way are we getting metroid dread after not seeing it for as many years and you know being on a different platform that was a different game though and beyond getting evil 2 the way you're talking about it when we saw that first announcement trailer that was a different game than the announcement trailer we saw for like whatever yeah i do think that the actual development of gta 6 it has been longer than active in a real active development for however you want to count that if you were to compare that exact same words and logic to other projects i do think it's the longest you bringing up intergalactic is interesting uh just because of like i do think at a certain point that might be true too but there's a difference between time between releases and time in active development because yeah not dog i believe it was not a dog they made last as part one if i remember correctly so like who knows when they actually started intergalactic but yeah if i'm just counting from time time since their last new game release it's gonna be a while between those two games gonna be a while gonna be a while how do where do we count um final fantasy 13 versus turning into final fantasy 15 is that what we're calling that one big development cycle well i mean even that wasn't that long no i guess not because that was what 2008 or 9 somewhere around there 2015 yeah okay yeah i guess that's not god it's crazy how that used to be like the most egregious thing of all time that was my entire like that was half of middle school into high school yeah right or like no that was like half of high school into finishing college for me i should say that is my second most watched trailer of all time

1:14:30Blessing Adeoye Jr.:number one smash ultimate everyone's here hell yeah i love that for you but man that that trailer

1:14:36Nick Scarpino:with noctis just freaking first time we saw blood in final fantasy he's just out there throwing his goddamn cool sword and teleporting fucking up all the soldiers come on that music playing

1:14:47Blessing Adeoye Jr.:uh we'll do one more super chat then get out of here that matt bowers writes in and says vice city was the first gta we owned after my brother and i tricked our parents into getting it for us definitely can't wait to see how much they make fun of florida as a whole i agree uh tim i'm gonna to peek into you're wrong real quick i know you did the one from kebabs do we have any other no no okay and then we're done here this is kind of funny games daily we did it if you love what we do support us with the kind of funny membership on patreon or youtube to get all our shows ad free and get a daily exclusive show enjoy the games cast next it's gonna be a good one yeah

1:15:21Nick Scarpino:oh yeah what's it about it's gonna be about everything that wasn't at summer game what were the games that weren't announced that we're like where's that can you believe expedition 33 still not on Switch? What's going on with Beyond Good and Evil 2? Let's find out. At least one person clocking into work every single day being like, I guess I'm going to keep working on Beyond Good and Evil 2, a game that's actually going to release someday. We still haven't done our What's Going On with Ubisoft video, but man. I mean, that's just a KFGD every three weeks. Every three weeks.
