In short

Kinda Funny Games Daily discusses major GTA 6 news: confirmed $79.99 base price, $99.99 Ultimate Edition, no physical disc in the box (code only), and Rockstar’s phrasing that GTA 6 launches with a single-player experience. The hosts also debate whether $80 is justified, how it affects the industry, and what the Ultimate Edition bonuses mean for immersion and pre-order behavior.

Guest backgrounds

No guests appear in the transcript. Hosts are Greg Miller and Wes (with references to other Kinda Funny staff like Tim, Andy, and Barrett).

Botox, onabotulinum toxin A, prevents headaches in adults with chronic migraine. It's not for those with 14 or fewer headache days a month. It's the number one prescribed branded chronic migraine preventive treatment.

0:17Nick Scarpino:Prescription Botox is injected by your doctor. Effects of Botox may spread hours to weeks after injection causing serious symptoms. Allerge your doctor right away as difficulty swallowing, speaking, breathing, eye problems, or muscle weakness can be signs of a life-threatening condition. Patients with these conditions before injection are at highest risk. Side effects may include allergic reactions, neck and injection site pain, fatigue, and headache. Allergic reactions can include rash, welts, asthma symptoms, and dizziness. Don't receive Botox if there's a skin infection. Tell your doctor your medical history, muscle or nerve conditions, including ALS Lou Gehrig's disease, myasthenia gravis or Lambert-Eaton syndrome, and medications, including botulinum toxins, as these may increase the risk of serious side effects.

2:59What's up, everybody? Welcome to Kinda Funny Games Daily for Wednesday, June 24th, 2026. Bonjour, oui, allô, to everyone celebrating Saint Jean-Baptiste Day in Quebec. I'm one of your hosts, Greg Miller, alongside Forbes 30 under 30, a.k.a. New York Game Awards, nominated a.k.a. Bicep Poppy. It's a blessing at Aoye Junior.

3:27Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Bonjour, mon frère. Oh, look at that, my brother. That's what I like to hear out of you. How you doing, Wes? I'm doing well. I haven't sat on this show with you in a long time. Yeah, I feel like it's been a hot minute. How you been? Great. also weird not doing a games daily yesterday where i climbed in a car to drive home and i was like i need to listen i wasn't on games daily they actually listened to like oh right playing for their planet we raised a whole bunch of money thank you everybody for supporting the rainforest and the reefs yesterday with us a lot of support for the rainforest and the reefs which is really cool of course i got to produce the whole thing and my main concern was thank you so much my main concern was how do we get people to care about the rainforest and the reefs but turns out the kind of funny audience will show up for any cause they love the planet they love hanging out they love getting free games and hanging out with us all day of course we streamed for six hours yesterday a billion party mode games you can still check it out youtube.com slash kind of funny games and most importantly you can still donate at kind of funny.com slash rainforest or kind of funny.com slash reefs if you're enjoying the content worth catching up because we played a game called boat together that we hadn't played on content before that game is surprisingly really good yeah really really good i want to play it again for a party here's where i want to talk to you what's up well first off let's just say the elephant in the room thank god today's news was today oh yeah when we when you take that game boy you're like we're not going to do a games daily or a live games cast we're to do a stream like i hope nothing crazy happens and we're like hey we got out of it today all this gta news entire conversation but before we get into what you actually care about i want to ask you this uh-huh how do you feel about the friends slop the multiplayer, whatever you want to call it, games.

4:57We played a bunch yesterday. And I don't even mean slop because we played Overcooked, of course, which is a different caliber and older than all this. Yeah, exactly. But there was Peak. There was RV there. There was Boat Together. Playing those games, and I respect every video game. I can't help but feel like I'm wasting my time. I think it's just my... It's definitely... Those games, and especially streaming those games, definitely put me into the camp of who I am as a gamer slash who I am as a content creator.

5:27Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Yeah. Where I'm like, why am I not streaming a game I'm reviewing? Why am I not reviewing a game? Why? You know what I mean? There's such a lane here for a Gamescast series where we just do video game therapy because this, I think, is a therapy topic of why do you feel like you're wasting time hanging out with people and friends and having fun? Yeah. Isn't that the point of video games is to have fun? Do you always need to be progressing? Do you always need to be doing something so you can level up or why can't you just have fun and be in the moment? Yeah. there is a conversation we had much larger than this.

5:54And I like that. But yeah,

5:55Blessing Adeoye Jr.:to answer what I like friend slop games. Yeah. Yeah. And like, I know people get go, people get mad about the term friend slop. Yeah. And I wish there was a better way to describe it than slop. I understand that, but I think there is, there is something there as far as a cheaply made video game that is made to bring people together and have fun. I think that's a very valid type of video game. I agree. And I'm asking again, I'm not saying these don't deserve to exist. And that's not me talking to that against you. It's more so about the idea of like friend slop. Yeah. insulting yeah i agree it sounds like an insulting thing but i mean peak's a very quality video game peak's a very quality video and they made peak in a um what do they call it in a game jam right like that wasn't supposed to be one of their tentpole main titles yeah he just happened to blow up as a side project for them and i think that's really special and really cool and i like these games because they really are just here's a gameplay concept have fun with your friends and your homies with just climbing or just this whatever the thing is i think that's a really fun type of game but also yeah like it's not necessarily for everybody yeah that's okay that's video games fair enough we talk about those video games here each and every week down kind of funny games daily when we run you through the nerdy news you need to know about of course if you want to be part of this conversation right now say are you going to spend 80 for digital code inside a box for the biggest video game of all time let me know by super chatting on youtube.com slash kind of funny games to be part of the live show that is live on twitch youtube and of course podcast services And of course, no, we couldn't do this without our Patreon producers on patreon.com slash kind of funny.

7:22So thank you, Carl Jacobs, Omega Buster, Delaney, the Somp Twining and Lacks Nomad. For now, let's begin with what is and forever will be the Roper Report. Time for some news. Five items on the Roper Report. A Baker's Dozen. we of course are on the precipice of gta 6 pre-orders launching tomorrow which means rockstar eventually had a talk about how much this game cost what comes in it and so much more so let's dive deep into a story number one that will span many minutes gta 6 price finally confirmed features a single player experience at launch we go to ign to hear from wyp that's wesley in pool rockstar games has finally announced the price of gta 6 while confirming it features a single player experience at launch rockstar said gta 6 costs 79.99 across playstation 5 and xbox series x and s confirming a 10 jump from the standard 70 we've seen this generation the ultimate edition meanwhile is 20 more priced at 99.99 there's no word yet on any new version of gta online which suggests the existing experience will continue to operate as GTA 6 launches this November.

8:45Pre-orders for GTA 6 launch at midnight local time on June 25th, with the ultimate edition and pre-order bonuses already detailed. GTA 6 physical copies do not include a disc, Rockstar has confirmed. There is just a code in the box. There's so much to dig into here.

9:05Blessing Adeoye Jr.:But I feel like we just gotta toss the other part. toss it all in the pot i think the ultimate edition stuff because the deep those ultimate edition details i think will be a bit of a deep dive conversation okay i think the three biggest headlines here are gta 6 is 80 uh-huh gta 6 is not going to have a physical disc in the box at launch which i think is an important detail to talk about there because there's a lot we can talk about just about about that and then for me the biggest the biggest bullet point here in my opinion is gta 6 is a single player experience oh okay that's that's how they phrase it if you go to rockstargames.com they have the pre-order blog up where they talk about it went up today and at the start of the second paragraph they verbatim say grand theft auto 6 is a single player experience coming november 19th to ps5 and xbox series x i think that that is a bomb dropped right like i think so many publishers and so many business people in the games industry right now are talking to each other and they're going, ah, shit.

10:06Blessing Adeoye Jr.:There's two. There's two of them. There's the second plane. Exactly. I thought of that joke while I was at the gym this morning and I was like, I can't make that joke, but I'm glad you made that joke. Because literally, there's somebody at, I don't know, EA leaning into somebody else's ear and there's like a second. We could get out as long as we dodge November. Fuck. So now is it December? January? Don't be February. Is it next fall? Are we getting two falls of big GTAs? six drops essentially them saying this is the correct me if i'm wrong about this go back and see how they talked about red dead redemption 2 because i don't remember if they called i don't imagine they called it a single-player experience because it's not a single-player experience i thought they were very upfront about the multiplayer coming i would think so i thought what was it a month later what was it i remember it was like a month later three weeks yeah thanks barrett yeah yeah so this one to me says all right gta 6 is going to be a single-player game And then down the line, you're just going to have something called GTA Online that drops.

11:07Blessing Adeoye Jr.:GTA Online is going to be, I think GTA Online is going to be an equivalent drop to this as far as the hype, the amount of attention that is required for that. That's going to be a big event. It's going to bring up every piece of oxygen. And the problem there with GTA Online, I really feel, and the oxygen it's going to take, is that it's going to take more oxygen for a longer amount of time. Yes. I think that's the thing where IGN will continue to be flooded with the updates of what's in the store today. Here's what's going on. Here's the top tricks. Somebody else found this thing. There's this new rope.

11:40They've dropped a new gate. Like it just goes and goes and goes. Whereas GTA six, if you're another video game, another publisher, another developer, you weather this storm of November, which is the buildup where you think, even though the window is getting closer, there's previews. Then there's reviews that maybe are in advance. Maybe not. Maybe everyone's covering it at the same clip for the next two weeks. the crazy shit they're finding, what their opinions are, yada, yada, codes.

12:03Blessing Adeoye Jr.:This kicks open a whole door for what is GT Online? What is the scope of GT Online? Are we starting off in Vice City? I imagine we'll start off in Vice City. But we go back to discussions we had years ago as far as is GT Online something that grows into you start off in Vice City and then they add in a San Andreas patch. They add in a Liberty City patch. It becomes this ever-growing thing. That is a whole episode of Gamescast that I'm sure we'll do at some point as we approach GTA 6. But the other big thing, which is probably actually the biggest thing, if we're talking about just the headline of the show, it's$80.

12:39Blessing Adeoye Jr.:What does that do for you?

12:43Well, again, there's three different pieces. So let's get into the vacuum. We're in the soundproof room and we shut the door and we're just talking about being$80. Okay. I mean is this should game do I want games to be cheaper and more affordable for every of course guys of course that's not what I'm saying but we are how many times have we had this conversation of what would you pay for GTA online you know I'm GTA 6 would you pay$90$100 $150 like you know what I mean like that's a real question for the biggest game of all time $80 they've been working on it forever you look at the screenshots you look at the thing you think of what the expectations are, what I expect, I expect them to meet those expectations.

13:27I go, okay, $10 more than a real, again, I know it's the bad example, but like Mario Kart world, I do not feel is an$80 game period. End of statement. I do think GTA six has the possibility to be an$80 game, but then we're back to the conversation you've had on this show so many times of, Hey, there's a lot of games that you would pay a hundred dollars for right now, knowing how much you love knowing what it was, what was that game worth to you in hindsight? What was the experience worth? So we're shooting in the vacuum right now of like, maybe GTA six is about to be the most disappointing video game of all fucking time.

14:02Totally could happen. Could happen. That's a reality we live in, right? It's not what I expect to happen. And again, with the caliber of trailer and video game and dusk particles in the air, you look at it, you go, that seems like a game that a lot of money and technology was poured into. And I think that I can see that justifying an$80 price point. I currently today on June 24th am not mad at an$80 price point for it.

14:27Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Yeah. I think it's such a layered conversation because when we say GTA six is probably an$80 video game, when you're talking about what's, what that's worth to you and Mario cart world is not an$80 video game, right? Like we're very much talking about what is something personally worth to you? Would you pay? Like I probably wouldn't pay$80 for Mario cart world. now does it hold 80 value as a product right like when we look at how much how much how bigger how much higher fidelity wise video games have have gotten how much more people it takes to make video games like you can watch jason shire's youtube channel in those two videos he's put up you can easily make the argument that all triple a video games period should be at least 80 right if not more when you're talking when you're comparing it to how much video game costs in like 2007 right a 60 video game 2007 and what those budgets were versus where we're at in 2026 now that's where i get i look at the prices and it's hard for me to i guess not get mad because there are reasons to get mad i think those reasons are are less so about a video game costing 80 dollars and more so we all should be making enough money to wear 80 the reality we live in right how much everything costs more so it's more so how much we all get paid versus how much the video games are in my opinion sure that makes that 80 80 hurt when we see it right yeah um i when i see when i see the 80 price point for gta 6 for me i then think about the ripple effect that's going to have on triple a games going forward i think you're going to start seeing that more from other games i will be interested to see this is a conversation we've had before and now this reignites it, right?

16:09Of, okay, cool. Mario cart is$80 and everyone, Ooh, I guess. And then Xbox was like, shut the fuck up. No, it isn't like we actually had seven. So it's like people have touched the stove and even GTA six doing this, like whether it's, you know, the emperor's new clothes here and the, the, we're going to look around at this game isn't going to be nearly as good as everything it thinks it is. Right. Right now in the vacuum of what we know and don't know about rockstar the reputation the lineage of gta right no other video game can touch that no other video game has this amount of juice right to use a colloquialism so i think if it was that playstation went oh okay god of war luffy is gonna be 80 i think there would be a giant eye roll and there would be more vitriol and pushback on that now again that's not me shitting on a game i don't know much about why i actually i guess i know more about that game than i do gta 6 but it is the idea of like okay i i don't think you can try it for sure do you get away with it i don't know and that's the biggest question what is getting away with it look like well that i mean you go back to this right and we're talking about gta 6 you're talking about the biggest entertainment launch of all time you're talking about one of the most successful video game launches of all time this is all just fact yeah and so again your take two sitting there having these conversations it is the idea of like all right cool well yes by just sheer economics we would sell more at 70 but are we going to lose enough that at 80 that extra 10 dollars off the millions of people we're still getting yeah you know so we're gonna make more money off of 80 so that's when you get into the conversation of if you're a playstation if you're Xbox if you're whoever can we do this well we're going to lose a lot of people but we're going to get that off more then you get into the thing of GTA 6 and again we're talking about a unicorn in so many different ways but for this conversation is on two platforms right versus PlayStation being like well we're only on one now granted how many Xbox copies again this isn't apples to apples where it's like I don't know if it's in PlayStation's best interest to put an$80 version of God of War out or whatever the next game they want to do that with right Now you look at EA though and what they're doing and like, how much can you get away with Madden?

18:31But again, how much can you get away with whatever they're calling FIFA now? Yeah. FC, right. Like there's those kinds of conversations, but again, they have over time, we're all frogs in the pot and they haven't turning up the water where it is like, yeah, you can get it at 70 bucks or you could get it, you know, whatever it is, 10 days early for, you know, or seven days early with the, this edition, let alone this edition, let alone that, you know what I mean? Yeah. I mean, We're going to eventually get to get into what the ultimate edition of GTA is. Similar conversation there.

19:01Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Yeah. For me, man, there's so much to talk about. I love, I love a news day like this because I love working with you. I'm going to fork in the road of like, do I go option A or option B? I'm going to start with option A, work my way back to option B. Because like when I think about GTA six is price, right? One of the things that in going back and forth with you and Tim and Andy and whoever talking about what they can charge for this thing. GTA online has always been a factor for me. Sure. well you're going to want this game in as many people's hands because they're going to end up making that money off of gta online anyway so might as well charge 70 for it now that we know gta 6 is a single player experience we're charging 80 for this you might you might charge again for gta online when that comes out yeah that might come out as a 40 that might come out as a 60 70 game why not release that next fall release that two falls from now have it be a full price like Like, we are in uncharted territory as far as how much you're willing to pay to play GTA.

19:57Blessing Adeoye Jr.:So that was my option A conversation. My option B conversation that I also wanted to get to is talking about Outer Worlds 2. Yeah. Because Outer Worlds... Great game. Remember what you should play? Great game. I don't know if it's an$80 game. Oh, no. I barely know if it's a$70 game. But that's a game that there's a conversation around when you are putting that out, what the price is. and I think the conversation ends up being how much do we instead of being how much do we want to charge for it it's how much do we need to start charging for our games for sure and I think across the industry the 80 conversation is starting to become more of a need than a want and I think GTA 6 coming out at 80 it doesn't matter if you can get away with it it's a we have to do this well now you're really talking about like oh even though this wouldn't be it but kind of that back room you know every finger on the button kind of thing where if you could get playstation and xbox to back channel right and it is herman talking to asha it's like hey shit is grim we're not we with the boxes keep getting more expensive we need to make more money on the software are you in to go 80 are you you know i mean kind of move that you know suggested retail up to 80 and do that and push that cost down to the consumer which again are the business realities of what decisions they've made and then the tech and yada yada yada blah blah which all just goes back to shareholders need to have more money which sucks like that is a possibility but again like what would be so fascinating about this and where the conversation is just so diverse and it's got to be doctor strange about it is that i don't think and this is the scary part that gta going to 80 madden going to 80 playstation's biggest god of war last and maybe not even the next god of war but like hey god of war three you know what i mean going to 80 that doesn't stop people who only buy two games a year from buying those games yeah that's the thing with gta right is like we are prepping for a huge wave of people either turning on their systems for the first time in a year if not more also people who are going to have sticker shock and go what they raise the price of the playstation the xbox fuck well I'm not missing GTA I'm buying the new thing and the new TV and I'm this is my splurge because I know I'm only playing this for the next three years right there's that level of consumer that I think if you have that level of game genre of game whatever the game the call of duty yeah you have the ability to do that to then switch it back to us you the listener the viewer the hardcore gamer who buys multiple games a year that's where it gets interesting of I think outside of those what you would call tentpole mainstream franchises.

22:40If it was that, trying to think of something that's not a ridiculous statement. I was going to say Helldivers 3, but that's a bad one, right? Let's say Fable. They say Fable is going to be$80, which would be, of course, in a sea of bad Microsoft decisions, a horrible Microsoft decision, but let's say it was whatever. Whatever PlayStation AAA game you're excited about. Blood of the Dawnwalker. Oh, Jesus, God. No, Bandai Namco. No, that'll never work out for you. Sure. but it's like that's the idea any of the game you insert there that isn't attracting poe and my assassin's creed somebody from the outside world whatever i feel like that's when we would all look at each other be like fuck no i there's 9 000 games to play this year i don't need to spend 80 on this yeah eight 8.5 whatever i can go play all these other games that are amazing and on game pass or playstation plus or that i my backlog and that yeah so it's like such a i don't i think you could do it for the big games to where you're bringing in people that aren't us but when you get down to us i don't think you can sit there and be like yeah ghost of sushima three that's a terrible

23:43Blessing Adeoye Jr.:title you know what i mean is gonna be this you know the game is called the blood of dawn walker yes we keep saying blood of the dawn walker yeah yeah yeah yeah i only learned that because i was watching andy stream and he said it and i was like wait i had to look it up yeah no disc in the box the third point the third point yeah what's up with that can you barrett i put an assets matt Piscitella's blue sky. That's a BS Tim. If you can pull that one up, that cracked my shit up today. Because I think at first glance it's easy to go, cool, the box has a game code in it. That's happening all the time with Nintendo, right?

24:12And it's like, well, no. Nintendo's doing game key cards that when you're done, you can lend to a friend. You can fucking sell back. Matt Piscitella, BS today. That's a blue sky Tim. The game key card leans back in his chair. It glances at its cigarette, takes a deep drag, exhaling towards the ceiling. Its eyes look toward the viewer. A half smile appears. Quote, yes i ain't so bad now am i end quote it chuckles rises and leaves god no you're worse

24:38Nick Scarpino:because you're also still just a download code but you're wasting resources pretending to be

24:42Blessing Adeoye Jr.:a physical thing but at least i can let somebody borrow it like because i i know we live in a different world now when i first played gta gta 3 even this is another addison story right went over to addison's house we were playing gta 3 i was like this is really cool and he was like do you want to borrow it and i was like sure and i took it home and i played gta 3 yeah the next time i went he had he had vice city i was like let me borrow vice city like those days are just becoming over the further and further we get um in one of the jason schreier videos he was talking about the number that that uh has been given to him as far as that digital physical percentage is around 80 of players play digital nowadays or are buying digital nowadays and so that i'm sure is a very key factor in this i think another key factor is just leaks i don't think they want a a truck full of gta of course to get to fall over and they spill out and then people get it and start selling it sorry i mean yeah well andy just came back from new york right and one of the things he was talking about was going to some mom and pop video game shop and they had adventures of elliot back there he's like is that out yet the guy's like no we don't care like that shit happens and yeah that's a big part of it i'm sure for gta where it's like here you can have it on lock and have make sure nobody can access it i don't think that's the main reason that's part of the cornucopia of reasons this is happening obviously it's the money you're right of like yeah i don't want you uh we uh what what did jason say in his latest video it's something like 230 million copies of gta 5 have been sold yeah number two behind minecraft yeah so it's like guess what they want to beat that number with gta 6 and that it means that they don't want you selling it back they don't want you lending it to a friend they want your friend or whoever to see it and go this is fucking awesome can i borrow it no you can't unless that we do the whole you gets my psn yada yada which is a whole can of worms on its own but like you have to go buy this no you have to go buy it and i think you know even the thing of what was their exact phrasing right of at launch is how they describe it yeah yeah it's like how long how long until those discs come out who knows i don't Yeah, like a new special edition.

26:47Exactly. It's going to be whatever that disc version is going to be. It ain't going to be the basic one, brother. That's going to be that. We want you to buy it. You love this game. Yeah. Favorite game of all time. Here's another$100. Here's it. It comes with the shark card for GTA Online, and it does this thing, and it does that thing.

27:01Blessing Adeoye Jr.:This is going to be real. This is real bad news for pre-owned market GameStop. I mean, GameStop's been experiencing bad news forever. Of course, yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't know how much more bad news is really that bad. But hey, man, the fact that they're still here to say they have bad news is crazy. Yeah, right? we started this show i was like i won't see you by 2018 and here we are good news for the console manufacturers though yeah like xbox and playstation getting that 30 off of these sales you imagine right like not having to cut in a a game stop or best buy whatever it is so yeah it's an interesting one and i do worry chat like where are you at with it because on the this is one of those conversations that i feel is hard to have a full picture on you know there's always this push and pull of people who will occasionally say we're out of touch because we get so many of our games for free for review and stuff i still try to buy a lot of games and i do for me it would break down of the games i'm buying i'm still buying digital i said goodbye to physical so long ago yeah that these kind of conversations of oh man this is upset like i just don't even think about it i never i would never think to buy it and a collector's edition i know tim and even andy are so intent now on tim you know going to the nintendo store and buying the switch to copies even if he reviews the game like starfox here in a little bit uh you know he wants to have that collection andy wants that collection i'm not a collecting guy right so it's just okay it's a code it doesn't affect me but then i know i've seen so much scuttlebutt of people being mad about it today and so it's also hard then to separate the wheat from the chaff here of like okay cool so are people legitimately upset about this or is it just something to be upset about today i mean when we say the 80 80 percent thing right like that 20 is still millions and millions and millions of people yeah um but yeah like i think there's the reality of most people are buying and playing digital i'm somebody who even though because of what you mentioned right like we get codes i've been indoctrinated to the digital gaming before i worked here i bought everything physical yeah part of that was best buy is gamers club unlocked that they used to have which would mean you're getting a discount on buying new games yeah physical and so that kept me going and also i like the collection aspect all that stuff once i got into the convenience factor of buying digital i've not looked back yeah right like having to wanting to switch over a game and being like oh shit all right let me get up and get a disc and put it in like no i don't want to live that life anymore and i think that's becoming probably more of a normal thing it was even the thing you know when simon carty was in town and we watched casino royale he made sure he bought brought the blu-rays right or maybe the 4k's whatever they are maybe that's all the same and we put it on and i was watching like damn like I can see everything yeah usually when I'm streaming a movie like it's all so crushed I can't see the blacks and he's like all right cool so you're gonna go back I'm like oh fuck no like no the ability to just flip on Amazon I have I have Superman uh 25 2025 on downstairs because I wanted it in one of my super 8 collection but I'm not going down there to get it to watch it with Ben I'm clicking on Amazon Andy lent me Lord of the Rings the two towers for in review and like I had watched the first Fellowship of the Ring come on I know all the movies now Fellowship of the Ring via streaming and then watch two hours off his Blu-ray like 4K whatever night and day it's crazy how good that shit looks but yeah I'm like you I'm still gonna stream all this shit let me bring in a super chat for you alright KSOBRO super chat and says GTA 6 not getting a real disc edition is a turning point for the relationship between video games and physical retail physical game buyers are still a very dedicated bunch and I see this affecting other games in the future I think that kind of speaks to what you're talking about yeah where I think there have been so many holdouts to this that want the physical game collection now that you can't, but you're going to buy this game, right?

30:35They jump in, they do this, and maybe there is the convenience factor. Maybe there is the idea that they keep going with it that way. Yeah. There's a lot of chats. Thank you so much for this. There's one I wanted about Costco. I love Costco. You know that. There's too many coming. There it goes. Will Gordon Super Chats. I got the Costco PlayStation Store deal. $100 worth of PlayStation Store credit for$85. I'm ready to pre-order on PSN tonight. I love the people who are like, I am in no matter what. This is where I'm going. This is what's going. EJRPG says, I go digital on PC, but if I like the game enough, we'll get it physically for console for collection's sake and always have a backup in case something happens to my digital library.

31:16Blessing Adeoye Jr.:That's the other scary thing. Of course. I think that's why the option of physical is nice when we're talking about video game preservation because you never know what's going to happen with that digital library. Things go off sale all the time. I'm still mad that they remove old Forza games after like two years or after the next i guess two games have come out and i know it's all because of car licensing but even that is like oh man this is one of the best games i've ever played and people can't buy it anymore right and even sometimes if you own things some things go out of rotation where you can't even download it anymore and i don't think that's good yeah i was thinking about this the other day where i was uh man at least this weekend i think where i was like man i can go for again ultimate alliance and i was like man i haven't played ultimate alliance one or two in so long it's like you know those were review copies that i had at ign in the ign library and it's like man it'd be cool to have those i wouldn't because where the fuck am i keeping my san francisco bay area place you know what i mean it's like shoe boxes we all live in it wouldn't work but street shadow super chats let's be real physical is now bespoke digital is also much cheaper to produce and easier to user easier to use like look at the data do i want more physical yes but i'm not going to waste energy yelling at the sky of course yeah and this is the thing of like producing less fewer discs or no discs means more money for you because you're not paying for that yeah of course will you eventually yes but of course you'll be a juggernaut successful and a reason to upsell everybody on the next edition they want to go get but also at the same time if they're cheaper to

32:35Nick Scarpino:produce and we don't actually physically uh have these things how come price go up of course the

32:42Blessing Adeoye Jr.:funny thing is i was going to say the opposite of like hey we try to pay 90 for a disc like that i think that's the kind of conversations we get into when we're talking about what they're looking at for wanting to produce these things. Granted, again, it's Rockstar, so they're going to make so much money off of this. They want to make as much. I'm sure they could sell a$70 disc version, but... Ryan says, if not being physical, it not being physical is going to keep me from pre-ordering. What's the point if I can just do it the night before with more info slash gameplay? Sure, but pre-ordering the night before is also still pre-ordering.

33:13They just want to lock you in. They just want to get you the money. They just want to get in to do it. Speaking of locking you and getting your money, I'm ready to roll into the second part about the Ultimate Edition, But before then, let me lock you in and get some of your money. Still in story number one, but part two. Rockstar confirms Grand Theft Auto 6 Ultimate Edition and pre-order bonuses as well as price this is chris scullion at vgc.news rockstar has confirmed the pre-order and ultimate edition bonuses for grand theft auto 6 the ultimate edition will include quote an exclusive collection of premium vehicles weapons apparel and action threaded across all aspects of jason and lucia story according to the studio players who pre-order or buy the standard edition or ultimate edition before november 20th will also get the vintage Vice City pack, which features a collection of items that flash back to when the neon burned brightest.

38:54For that person who's like, I'm going to pre-order the day before the fuck you are. You're not going to miss out on free Vice City content, are you? Take two has also confirmed the standard edition of the game will cost$79.99. The Ultimate Edition will cost$99.99. Bless you have the details.

39:07Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Yeah, they have a full list of content included in the Ultimate Edition. I'm still reading from Video Games Chronicles, so you have a vehicle, the 95 Grotichita, signature mid-90s sports car and owed to Shore Drive. They go on and talk about it. They have weapons, Hawk and Little Morgan revolvers, his and hers versions of this powerful revolver with classic Vice City styling swords from Versetti Estate, including palm tree etched grips, engraved detailing in high performance scope. You also got more weapons, personalized variants, personalized sidearms with detailed engravings for Jason's Garrardy ES9 pistol and lucia's close k17 pistol you got looks by city specific style looks uh more vehicles jason's safe safe house vehicles you got a mod kit the ganado retro build inject some muscle and classic stylings into jason's well-worn vapid ganado low riding pickup with exclusive mods you have the mod shop ride out customs um you have a hair salon get his jacket hair salon sarah's unisex salon you got a watercraft shih tzu squallow you got a clothing school clothing store a stock 305 um another vehicle in garage the 67 dominator buggy it seems like it's just a lot of exclusive locations like yeah store garage shop stuff like that you have a tattoo shop here uh another mod shop another look shop uh gang compound and then you have a special commission the classic car collection track down a variety of abandoned classics and work in progress project cars and revitalize them to their former glory in the special commission from a centric collector and local fixer wyman i don't like it i don't like it there's a lot of content for it for to pay the hundred dollar version for yeah like in-game content but like well they showed a tattoo shop they're talking about a tattoo shop right so it's like that's gotta be there's gotta be lots of tattoo shops right yeah but like do you get no tattoos but think about it when you're playing GTA and it's like, okay, cool.

41:05Blessing Adeoye Jr.:I want to go to the tattoo shop. You don't have a thing that's like locked because you didn't pre-order it. Is it just grayed out? I'm with you. Then if it's grayed out or I walk up to the tattoo shop and be like, you didn't pay enough to get the fuck out of here. You didn't pay the$100, bitch. That sounds outrageous and stupid which is why I can't imagine like when you're the weapons, sure, whatever. The stupid cars, sure, whatever. or whatever it's like the that i want to see how it's implemented because that seems like it's when i read it it just seems bad for how i think of the way i played grand theft auto and how i don't want my i don't want any gaming experience interrupted by you didn't buy the pre-order right out yeah mod shop right out customs transform vanilla vehicles into magnificent works of art with detailed interiors exquisite rims and donk stylings only open for business with the ultimate an addition.

41:58Blessing Adeoye Jr.:That's weird. That's weird.

42:00Nick Scarpino:So it's just, it'll still be there. It won't be grayed out. It's it will be a door that won't be able to open. It would say closed. Yeah, probably.

42:08Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Closed because you didn't pre-order. Get your money on. Closed because you're a broke-ass bitch. It's not like broken here. That's what they say when you walk in the shop. Get out. That'd be better if they chased us out. Get out of here. Get the fuck out of here. With a golf club. Golden gun that kills you when you hit. That's weird. I don't like that at all. I don't like that either. they're the only open for business i don't like at all no no no that seems really bad honestly i don't like that that doesn't sit right i want yeah i wonder if there's an option maybe there's i mean i wonder if you walk up to the shops and like you can pay 199 right now to open this like in-game currency maybe they're real money real money to open this i was gonna say like maybe these are tied you know how in gta you oftentimes can own businesses and like you'll make money or whatever.

42:55Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Maybe these are tied to like, oh, you pay in real, in game, in real, you pay in game money to then open that business. Now you can attend it and then also you own this tattoo shop. And this is also the classic. That's really hopeful, I know. This is also the classic marketing shit of like, all right, so standard edition's$80. Oh, well, the ultimate edition's just$99. Yeah. I'll round it up the dollar and round it down the dollar. like it's basically 10 15 bucks like it's not that big of a deal i've already i've already come this far i've waited for this game for so and again you're talking about this audience that again i think is going to buy playstations tvs xboxes for this sure i've already waited this long what don't i want the fucking tattoo shop this weird ass vice city shirt that's just bad 80 for the cut edition 100 for the full edition think about that yeah i just hope i mean we're talking about a lot of precedents being set right$80 all this stuff i hope this isn't a precedent where other companies are like yeah we can lock our content behind paywalls i know we already live in that world yeah but in an open world game where you want you want to be immersed you don't want to be interrupted by 100 your own wallet your physical wallet ah that that doesn't that doesn't feel good just give me costumes like any other game you know this only comes around maybe every third generation.

44:19Blessing Adeoye Jr.:So at this point, they're like, fuck it. You'll swipe the card, Mike. Let me play as Tommy Versetti. People will pay for that. That doesn't interrupt my experience. Exactly. Cars, weapons. But it's an interesting argument because outsider Greg, looking at this, when it's just weapon skins, car skins, commemorative t-shirts, I don't care. I'm like, who gives a shit? But when it is like businesses, is that's when I think like you do get to this point like yeah it's only 20 more dollars I've come this far what are you gonna do that's not me yeah I'd still pay the 80 version I'd just be pissed the entire time playing I'm cheap like that I'm like I'm not paying you the 20 extra dollars I'm gonna be mad while I play this game this is what I was thinking about last night too with like the whole uh steam machine Jeremy tracks would stick with me where I was like you know we have one in the office Roger's streaming it today of course they're doing their steam machine review so far Greg way about it's gonna be great content and I've been you know like I'm like, I don't need it.

45:15All the stuff in the box. And then I remembered the 20th edition ROG ally, you know, with the OLED screen and the collide buttons as I was in bed last night. And Jen's like, I'm going to lay in your arm while you play. I'm like, all right. And I wrapped a wrap. She's like laying here. And I go click. Like, oh, God, it's the clicky one. I'm like, I'm sorry. And I was like, oh, I was like, all of a sudden I was like, oh, the 20th edition ROG is a must buy. Like, and it's bundled with X reels. I don't know a price tag. But I was like, the money I would even think about putting into the steam machine, I'm going to put in this thing instead.

45:45So I can shut the fuck up. Yeah, there you go. I digress. Let's see what the chat is saying over here.

45:55I mean, Exigent Midnight says exactly what Barrett was saying. 90 % of a game for$80, 100 % for the full 100%.

46:03Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Yeah. $100 for the 100%. Yeah, back to that conversation again of how much would you charge for this game? Where would you go? Interesting. On the positive side, they uploaded a bunch of new screenshots on their website. This game looks real good. It looks unreal. Have we seen any gameplay yet? Have we seen any gameplay yet? The first two trailers. I mean, in-engine, I guess.

46:24Nick Scarpino:Have we seen gameplay of this game that people are going to be pre-ordering for$80 to$100 tomorrow?

46:31Blessing Adeoye Jr.:I mean, are you worried about the gameplay? I don't know. It's just weird. This is GTA. It's just weird. i mean i would i would say the first two trailers with like the in-engine stuff kind of tell you it's also here's what i'll jump this is like a thing i've never heard of before that i'm with you but it's gta i can you know what the gameplay is going to be we have a whole day planned obviously of content tomorrow because that's what we do here do we think there's not going to be a trailer a something tomorrow for this i mean i would think that you would have dropped this today with all this news coming out today yeah you didn't drop the trailer today i feel like the news they're dropping today is the honestly the bad news you have to give people hey it's 80 bucks there's no fucking game in the box hey you're gonna spend a hundred dollars to get the full game okay i think you do all that and then it's like again i this sounds stupid but stick with me they give us the bad news because that's the news the beat for us they give the trailer with gameplay or the gameplay deep dive or whatever at midnight or in the morning tomorrow because that is for poe that is for usa today that is for hey everybody you can go pre-order the game right now go get the game right now you can go do it right now yeah you need that action item like we already know you already know right now if you're buying gta 6 or not probably the question is if you are what version you're buying right like tomorrow you want just all the bells and whistles that it's there i think they're you're going to get something tomorrow now will the gameplay again or just another stylized trailer who the fuck knows i think the only thing that goes against it is all of the screenshots they put like they posted so many screenshots and i don't think these would go up alongside a trailer but like you're right i always caught one of the conversations me and tim had is which is hey if you're putting up pre-order a pre-order page then like put that up and have it set up for the most success possible and the way you do that is by releasing a trailer alongside it trailer for gta is going to gain all the attention possible so i think there's still room for that to happen tomorrow i think you're right like damn this game looks good yeah but to Barry's point we're not playing it we don't know what it looks like are these just cut scenes not they're not using the same model same lightings etc but the game does look fantastic him in that knockoff the manatees jersey like the knockoff of the dolphins jersey I think my thing is I've played GTA 5 and I played I mean I played a lot of Red Dead Redemption 2 you and me are both on the same page I know what the game is going to look like and play like and feel like would like to see it would like to see it but also i don't know i'm somebody who like i kind of i like suspense uh i'll wait but will you pre-order tomorrow no okay that was mainly my point oh gotcha i mean i don't pre-order i mean i get

49:09Nick Scarpino:code so i'm not the right person i know but that's that that it it's not just one siloed with the other that the whole thing was you know barely seeing anything but asking for pre-orders tomorrow

49:20Blessing Adeoye Jr.:i don't know if i'd say we i disagree that we've barely seen anything we've had two whole trailers in the last two years we have all these two whole trailers in the last two years for gta all right like we know what gta is like i'd agree it'd be nice to have a gameplay trailer it'd be nice to see more but like i think as rockstar putting out gta 6 and having two trailers already and having all these screenshots and all these details it's like yeah pre-order up it's on you it's on the audience that they want to pre-order and then get disappointed if the game doesn't end up being what they want to do and i'm i'm of the mind of like don't pre-order like yeah of course you don't have nobody's forcing you to pre-order but as rockstar i think you have the right to be like yo you've seen our marketing material pre-order the game it's gta 6 you know that you want gta 6 yeah i'm with bus i think if i was on the outside and i wasn't expecting review codes for it i would pre-order because again i think it's a foregone conclusion that i'm going to play this game and again i've already forgot what because it's just a fucking goddamn flow chart of information but whatever the thing you get something by pre-ordering before whatever time before the 12th or whatever so it's like i mainly i my thing with pre-ordering it and being digital and night before whatever is whenever it's available for preload i just wanted to preload yeah be ready to go because i'm sure this thing's gonna be fucking a gajillion gigabytes i digress though let's leave gta land which is a game who knows if it'll be good or bad and move to hideo kojima land where the games are always great.

50:47Number two, Hideo Kojima teases new game system for OD. This is once again, Wesley in pool over at IGN. Hideo Kojima has announced, I'm sorry, has teased his upcoming Xbox horror game OD, revealing it includes a special system designed for people who are too scared to keep playing. Andy. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Kojima stopped short of explaining exactly how the new system works, saying doing so would get him in trouble. Quote, I wanted to go beyond the limit of the scariness that other games had reached, he said. It's a single-player game, and I wanted to make it as scary as possible.

51:20But for those that might stop playing when it gets too scary, I have thought of a system that will allow them to keep going. I can't say much more because it'll give too much of a hint on the system, and I could get in trouble for saying too much. OD, published by Xbox Game Studios in collaboration with Get Out director Jordan Peele, is still shrouded in mystery, but we do know something of what to expect. The original plan was for the game to feature three main actors uh sophia lillis hunter schaefer and the late udo kerr udo udo udo udo kerr kerr died in november aged 81 and while kojima productions has completed a scan of a legendary actor it didn't manage a shoot in time ew said kojima wouldn't discuss kerr's involvement with od or say if he's been recast but did confirm filming has now properly begun with the game's various actors.

52:12Quote, I wanted to do something new. I wanted to do something different. I had this OD concept since I was working on Death Stranding 1 and I was working on it just by myself. I can't reveal much detail, but it's something that no one has ever seen before. A new game system. I pitched to many people, to the big companies and also to the up and coming companies. All of them said the same thing. Kojima continued, they said that I'm crazy and that they really don't understand the concept. that they will not be able to do it end quote former xbox boss phil spencer did understand the concept however and signed the game spencer was replaced at the top of microsoft's gaming business earlier this year by asha sharma who told ew she's just as keen on it quote i've got great artists and creators that can pick a great game better than i can and so i want to give it space but most importantly i think it just represents another kind of game charma said there's also a new screenshot of the game here's what i'm gonna ask you and i know you're gonna inhale to say something yeah you're fine but just you and me playstation annapurna name it yeah kojima comes in pitches you i'm glad we're on the same wavelength pitches you fucking anything yes

53:25Blessing Adeoye Jr.:gone resign let's go now my question is because i was thinking the same exact thing do you think kojima has more cachet or less cachet um after putting out death training one and two

53:38oh which i know od was pitched way before i know i know i know i think less i don't and i don't think by much but i think the fact that death training one and death training two weren't 10 out of 10 universally acclaimed everybody loves this you can sit there and be a bean counter and go this is a game he's i think honestly if he's pitching this the thing that probably scared most people away would be the money that it would need to get these actors in these roles yeah i want hollywood a-listers i want talent i want people who are at the top of the industry right now you're like that's like that seems sticky i don't know if we'll get the return on that and maybe you don't work with jordan peele etc blah blah it's like i get it but also fucking kojima but again we're back to being...

54:24We're making... You and me, at the B-hole and G-Spot game company, we're making art. So we're not as worried about the business, I'm sure. But when you're making... Here's the thing, right? Phil Spencer's flying off flares.

54:35Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Because Kojima is in that weird place of like, hey, we're making art, but also, Kojima's art is the most expensive art. Yeah. You know? You're talking about all the hired actors and all this stuff. I'm trying... I don't have like a clear thing for how much Death Stranding sold, but what I'm seeing is like a track around five to six million copies. Although this is saying, I fucking hate AI overviews. I wish they would just go back to just tell me verbatim what these articles said. Never. I'm clicking into the Wikipedia link. Click into the Wikipedia link. Let's get in there. Go effing. Sorry, this is going to take me slightly longer because I'm trying to do due diligence, which I know Wikipedia isn't due diligence.

55:07Blessing Adeoye Jr.:All my teachers told me not to use Wikipedia, but guess what? I'm here. They say by April 2025, Death Stranding had reached over 20 million players worldwide. That saying reach those players doesn't necessarily say sales. And so I'm sure PS Plus, whatever promotions, I forget if Epic had it, but... Anyway, what I'm saying is Kojima post Metal Gear Solid 5 on top of the world. Hey, PlayStation approaches them immediately and goes, we'll throw whatever money at you. Please make a game exclusive to our platform. Yeah. Kojima post Death Stranding. Maybe you see a little bit more of like the, all right, Metal Gear Solid, that kind of success isn't easy to replicate, especially when you're on your weird Kojima shit.

55:44Blessing Adeoye Jr.:and so do we want a green light a game that's going to star hunter shaffer and all these different people when we think it's going to sell 5 million i mean again it's such an interesting thing on the other side of uh everything we know the fallout from xbox phil spencer leaving you know the idea that he was phil spencer was buying people and people buying studios and saying make things for game pass we need great art for game or we need things for game pass to play and so yeah i could see it being there of course like again it's you and me he comes in he's like yo i never got to make pt pt how good was pt i want to make some here's the fucking screenshot of a hallway you're like yep go here's your check here's your blank check the first thing i ask honestly is how much does it cost yeah and are we going to make that money back yeah yeah and i know that's the whole thing of where it all shakes out and i actually i'm actually surprised asha isn't like no we got to cut this in the same way that you're looking at double fine in all these studios and being like these were game pass booms but like that's not relevant to what our strategy is anymore get rid of those kojima especially being a third party partnership not even a first party thing like we've seen them cut their third party publishing agreements asha and xbox need goodwill and i know we can sit here and be like but ninja theory but double fun i understand all that none of those studios are Hideo Kojima.

57:09And so if you were to say to Hideo Kojima, we are killing your baby in the crib right now, the shit storm, it would stir up of him on Instagram, not being like petty about it, but being like, it's over. And I'm now I'm looking for partnerships. That's when PlayStation swoops in is like, let's fucking do something else. That's when he's on fucking Jeff Keighley stage, getting a standing ovation of like this thing he was going to do. This art was going to happen. It didn't going to happen. And again, I think it's important as Mike was next to me earlier this week, wearing his Xbox film and TV sweatshirt.

57:40Like they want to be bigger than games. And Kojima is the guy who's at the film festivals and hanging out with Robert De Niro now. And Timothy Chalamet is hanging. You know what I mean? Like there is a cache aid of him. That's bigger than games now. And so like, that's all in the mix where if I'm Ashton, like we got to cut some stuff, you're looking at double fine and keeper. And it's like, listen, we got one investment here with Kojima to get this game out. We got Jordan peeling it. It's going to look, we get through, like kill all these studios that aren't making the kind of games we want, get this out the door and then worry about what we do with it from there.

58:14Fair enough. Speaking of killing studios, number three, Mio memories in orbit developer. Oof. Do's Dixmes. Shutting down. That was not, how would you do it? I don't know the French pronunciation. Dixiem. I think that's an X, accent that's not an aegu the opposite yeah but i'm more of that i don't know how you do an x in in a digzm do they digzm is shut down this is mike strott insider gaming i'm never going to say the developer names again i'm sorry another independent game studio shutting down according to a new report from french outlet le figaro uh mio memories and orbit developer do they uh is closing its doors the news comes just five months after the studio released mio memories in orbit the studio released mio in january and while it received positive reviews critically the game failed to meet expectations on a commercial level after the game's launch publisher focus interactive ended its relationship with the developer leaving the small studio looking for uh towards what comes next according to a french journalist the co-founders uh brought bought back the shares from focus this allowed them to shut down the studio and lay off staff on their own terms rather than buy a studio which is one way to do it i mean it's sad either way

59:29Blessing Adeoye Jr.:yeah this is i mean i feel could be the next big indie oof i've yeah duh tough i said i meant tough tough yeah um yeah i feel two ways of it right where this is one that i think seemed really cool just from the trailers of it but upon the game coming out didn't seem to light the world on fire so like it kind of having that kind of like muted um presence since since then you know doesn't surprise me but i think the other side of that coin is it sucks that right now the state of the industry is so that you can't have something that's not the big biggest success and then continue existing as a studio yeah you know like that's not the way things should should be you should at least be able to have something that does moderately well or something that like is like okay cool we tried there and not immediately like two months later i have to go shut everything down.

1:00:20This is a conversation we've had a little bit on the shows and I keep having with developers, publishers, PR people when I'm talking about the industry at large is I'm going to be interested in the next five years of games because I feel like in many respects we've had this golden age of indies, of smaller teams, whatever, being able to say we've always dreamed of making this game and because of an Xbox Game Pass deal, PlayStation Plus deal, because of Outer Sloth, whatever, we're able to make it. And I feel like so many of those games are coming out now and failing to find an audience and being met with the real business realities.

1:00:59So even if you don't close your studio, right? Unfortunate for these folks. Do you now look at, okay, we got to make our next game. Cool, live this dream. No dream projects. Yeah. What is your dream project? Okay, great. Rather than do that, let's put a white male protagonist in the role you were talking about. let's do this let's let's make it appealing to every the the general audience a broader audience right of like how do we make something that's palatable and how much you know there was a question it might have been in the super chats that have come through so much thank you so much of like do you think gta 6's success is going to lead to more gta clones right probably right because i do see not on that scale but i do see it could easily be that like hey let's try to make games that are going to reach more people than us making our dream which we know would speak to a specific audience but we need to enlarge what the audiences are yeah i think the tough thing is

1:01:53Blessing Adeoye Jr.:if you're an indie studio what does that look like as far as creating something that we think is going to hit for people because then we're back to like what is it the definition of a hit yeah like you know how do i mean because like this is a metroidvania yeah you know you can't get a you can't get more this is well-worn territory like and even like a positive way of we know what a metroidvania is we know that people like metroidvanias they made a metroidvania yeah does that

1:02:17Nick Scarpino:A cartoony Metroidvania that came out months after Silksong.

1:02:20Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Sure. But does that mean that, like, hey, we just got to make Friendslop? Does that mean, hey, we got to make, like, the cheap games that we're seeing just, you know, funnel on to Steam? Does that just become the norm? Because, like, I know we're talking about a Metroidvania that came out after Silksong. But also, like, I don't think this will be that much better if it would be a 2D platformer or, like, I don't know, a Zelda-style game. I think that's just the tough thing of there are so many games that even when you make something that is in a genre that is defined and we know what it is and you know what a good one of those looks like.

1:02:54Blessing Adeoye Jr.:There's a million of those. And so, yeah, I don't envy anybody who's in the space trying to make something special. Everybody's trying to crack something. Yeah, because you're not a guaranteed success unless you are a Silksong or a Hades or even a Claire Obscure. That's not a guarantee.

1:03:09Nick Scarpino:And even Hades wasn't a guarantee before Hades came out. What do you think about this? What if there was a way, not a way, that's a stupid thing to say. But we talk about like, okay, let's talk about peak, right? We're talking about aggro crab. We're talking about people who made another crab's treasure and then going under, right? The roguelite that I liked a lot where you were in a shitty startup, right? And stick with me because it's going to sound insulting. Those first two games that I'm talking about were quote unquote real games, not friend slop, not we did a game jam and here's the thing where you climb a mountain.

1:03:38Everybody's like, I love that. It's like, I wonder if there's a future or a business model that is, hey, we made a turn-based RPG that is two hours. We game jammed on it. It's five bucks. It's the same thing, peak cost. For me, as a gamer who's always short on time, as a gamer who wants story and single-player experiences, I feel like I would snap those up. And I'm not saying this is a solution at all, But I wonder, again, as we talk about smaller teams, we talk about what is your metric for success. I would love it to be that we are giving you, here are these three$5 games that are 90 minutes.

1:04:19You know what I mean? We game jammed on it. It just, we wanted to tell a touching story and we did it. Like, because it's like, what is the puppy game where you're dead? The Corgi where you're the dead puppy. My puppy friend, my little puppy, I don't know what it is. The lost puppy. I started that on the flight down to get Chip, right? So I'm just sobbing while I'm playing this thing about a dog who smells his owner in heaven and then goes to chase him, right? I had a great flight with that game. That game is like seven to nine hours. No. No. No. You didn't. I personally don't believe you needed that much time to tell.

1:04:52I should have had one thing, found the owner, or not found the owner, or whatever. And I'm sure the game's great. There's a whole bunch of different stuff going on in there. That's fantastic. You know what I mean? Great. But, like, how long did it take you to make that game? if we would have scaled it back and you would and i don't even is it selling for 20 bucks probably on steam i'm not 100 sure like put that out for 2.99 for it yeah i know i'm i'm talking i have no skin in the game i'm just talking shit right now who knows if it would actually work but i do feel like in the same way you sit down and you want to rent a movie like give me that kind of experience

1:05:23Blessing Adeoye Jr.:that fast yeah i think a tough thing is like you're talking about yeah a movie right like you're talking about something that is a more contained experience for an hour and a half maybe you're to sell it for five dollars instead but yeah what is the i think they then have the conversation of what is the audience for an hour long uh dead dog game right yeah versus what if he just made mecha chameleon and sold sure millions and millions of copies and was one of the most successful games of the year which is also five dollars i think that's the thing probably something less effort than that you know barrett put in the twitch chat right of just like going for a wider audience also isn't a guaranteed success right in terms of what and so i think it's like i still think there's what i'm saying like let's take our specialized idea you know and broaden it i i don't know if that leads to success number one but i also don't mean go completely like it has no personality has no vision or whatever i just think of like if you have a special idea put it out in a way that people are actually going to consume i i think and i think especially right now if you are a video game developer listening and you like making stories in smaller games right like i do think that if you were like hey we game jammed on this thing and in six months made this two hour long game or one an hour long game and we're selling it for 399 i do think that would get headlines and i do think you would then have the the thing of so many people playing it and getting through it and i know there's all how you can quickly return a game on steam i don't know how that works yeah yeah oh sure there's i know there's problems to my own plan but if you're doing that with like because what you're describing is a game like and roger for example and people talking about roger florence which we loved and i don't know if i would say that's a game jam thing right like that is a lot of no no and i'm not and i know it's not what you're saying right but um but i bring that to say like if you did that with and roger where you played it in the return on steam you're a bad person yeah yeah yeah exactly but again i think the actual audience that would be buying that folks like us yeah you the listener viewer like we wouldn't do that right yeah right just so you wouldn't steal a greg way oh my god uh let's jump into story number four Marathon is getting a separate PvE mode, an FPS roguelike.

1:07:21This is Paul Tassi at Forbes. Marathon is struggling to attract and retain players. Who could have predicted it? Its hardcore extraction nature either isn't appealing enough for casuals or causing some amount of burnout among its current player base. While Marathon has tried a number of more casual, friendly modes for two seasons now, it's about to run its biggest experiment yet, a full-on PvE mode, almost entirely separate from the rest of the game. Bungie laid out the idea for the upcoming experimental mode coming out July 21st called Vault Breaker. There's a whole bunch of details on what it actually is.

1:07:52Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Yeah, it's just a, it's a game, it's a mode that you can play solos, duos, or three-player PVE. Essentially, it's a roguelike is what they describe where you go in, you fight bosses, you level up and have that kind of progression. Does it do anything for you? Yes. Oh, wow, okay. I mean, I like Marathon. You like Marathon, period. I like Marathon, period, and I like roguelikes and what they're describing. I'm like, that sounds fun for me. Is it going to save the game? I have no idea. Probably not, but I would play this. this would bring me back oh wow yeah okay it'll be interesting to see obviously shire reporting on layoffs eventually at bungee uh what's marathon doing how does that net out i don't see anything going positively do you think this is enough to bring a lot of people in not even bring people back bring people in it would need the word of mouth like i think probably i feel like part of the problem with marathon is that this is not marketed as strongly enough like if when you're doing cool shit like i know we had marathon in the state of play where they talked about free-to-play weekend or week or whatever it was we need to like push that out even more i need that on the front page of playstation i need y 'all to like treat marathon like it's a premiere thing if you want if you want to make it into a success because i feel like these updates happen but they're speaking to specifically to the marathon fan base i don't think they're speaking to a wider amount of people that might have interest interest in marathon but don't know that they're doing this shit okay well blessing millions upon millions of people playing marathon will be big news huge news some would say but if i wanted something smaller say the tiniest news items i need to know about where would i go you'd go to our last news story the we news channel where you cover all the small news items you need to know about number five we news lords of the fallen two has been delayed from fall 2026 to early 2027 i saw that come through and i'm like man lords of the fallen two is one of those titles that i would have told you came out six months ago oh yeah we got a problem with names and key art where I just look at that.

1:09:46I'm like, I think I don't even know from IGN. Amazon has revealed its latest Luna exclusive in AI powered party game in which Arnold Schwarzenegger plays all four roles. Courtroom chaos starring Arnold Schwarzenegger is the followup to the first in the series that launched in October, 2025 and featured legendary Raptor rapper Snoop Dogg. And remember that one? I remember announcing it and never hearing anyone ever talk about it. Fucking again. I think Roger played it. Of course he did. fucking tells you everything you want to play the arnold version ai powered party game i would bet not uh here's everything announced during sonic the hedgehog's 35th birthday blessing take it away

1:10:22Blessing Adeoye Jr.:oh yeah there was a whole bunch of stuff that happened sonic frontiers game definitive edition for switch 2 that got shadow dropped actually oh wow uh sonic racing crossroads is getting a patch update plus three characters uh sonic racing crossroad championships happening in 2026 sonic pico park showed new gameplay new characters you're getting shadow the hedgehog and sonic pico cat which is actually really exciting. We love Pico Park. We're excited for Sonic. And I did realize there's going to be more characters outside of the core four. So there's a chance that if they announce more, you can have a full squad of eight playing.

1:10:53Blessing Adeoye Jr.:We got to get cream. We got to get cream in there. Classic Sonic collection is happening. Modern Sonic collection is happening. Sonic Hedgehog 1 and 2 Legacy cartridge collection is happening. Sonic Steam franchise sale is happening. Sonic Forces working title will be available on NEX Playground consoles later this year. I have so many questions about that. You gotta go fast. You gotta go fast, but why is it a working title if it's just Sonic Forces? That's first of all. They're not committing to anything yet. That's why. It's a game that exists already. It has existed since 2017. I will bring my NEX Playground for you to play.

1:11:25Oh, thank you. No problem. I mean, I've already beat Sonic Forces. You have to beat it like this, where your body's the controller.

1:11:31Blessing Adeoye Jr.:That's right. It will be motions. Yeah. Oh, so they're probably going to call it Sonic Forces Move Your Body Edition. Probably, yeah. Or probably just Sonic Forces colon NX Playground Edition. Oh, sure. Maybe that, too. Sonic Forces also coming to mobile. And then there's more concerts being added for the Sonic live in concert thing. 30 more shows are happening. If that wasn't enough Sonic news for you on June 23rd, Jersey Jack Pinball and Sega will launch Sonic the Hedgehog Pinball in celebration of Sonic the Hedgehog's 35th anniversary. The table comes with a 27-inch LCD screen featuring art animation from Sonic Generations with iconic levels like Green Hill Zone and Chemical Plant.

1:12:08There's songs, there's stuff. We watched the video of it a couple weeks ago. Yeah. Looked pretty cool. Fellowship just announced its biggest update ever. The new season just started and it's 40 % off on Steam. The game is all about just blasting dungeons with your friends. Blizzard Entertainment announced Diablo 4 Season 14, Season of Death Awakening, and a free trial for the new Warlock class will arrive on June 30th. Capcom announced a Capcom Spotlight showcase for June 25th at 2 p.m. Pacific. and THQ Nordic Digital Showcase returns August 7th, 2026. Which do you think is going to be worse? We've been burned down the Capcom spotlights.

1:12:43Sometimes they are good. Most of the time they're not. So we're passing on that. THQ Nordic doing a digital showcase. I think it's going to be so bad. I'm like, we got a lot.

1:12:51Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Oh, no, I got Capcom's even worse. You think so? Because THQ, I think they've also been doing their digital showcases, but we see THQ Nordic and then we immediately tap out. I will say, I think the worst showcase we ever watched was, I want to say. Koch Media, Koch Media. Koch Media, which I think was involved. I forget the whole relationship. So they are in the lead, but Capcom has been so consistently bad that like, I don't know, man. We might be underrating Capcom's stank when it comes to the showcase. The head-to-head. I'm just going to read you the press release, okay? THQ Nordic's digital showcase is just around the corner, and this year's event is set to deliver a packed lineup of fresh updates and news across a wide range of our core IPs.

1:13:35From long-awaited reveals, release dates, to exciting new looks at fan-favorite franchises, there's plenty to look forward to for everyone following the THQ Nordic Universe. Expect this showcase to shine a spotlight on titles such as Titan Quest 2, Wreckfest 2, The Guild Europa 1410, Fatekeeper, Expedition Samurai, The Eternal Life of Goldman, and Way of the Hunter 2, with more to come as we count down to showtime. You gotta move Eternal Life up in that sentence. or close with it.

1:14:03Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Like, you can't just throw that in the middle of those games. Back to the other game that I didn't even know was out. Like, some of these are just like randomized, randomized, randomized title, randomized title. There's a chance we could get a Darksiders 3 trailer. Does that do anything for me or you? Probably not.
