Notable examples

Yeah, on today's Gregway, myself and Greg will talk about all things BlizzCon, our experience, the fun, the merch store, and of course the big announcements that I'm excited about.

1:10Of course, you guys did a Gamescast down there that people can check out that went up over the weekend. And so if you want to hear it live and in person with interviews from devs, they can go check out that previous Gamescast. What was your, give me your top two favorite things that happened over the weekend? starcraft open world shooter yeah yeah yeah okay i mean 2030 is a really far away time it's not a real year but the idea of starcraft coming back into our lives the idea that it's not an rts right like i love rts's but i don't think a lot of people do so the idea of like being able to jump into an open world shooter somehow create that with starcraft is going to be really really dope your imagination run wild on what it could be.

1:49Is it a destiny looter shooter? Is it an open world like a Far Cry or you know, any one of these other Rainbow Six Wildlands? Directed by a Far Cry guy, right? And so we'll see how it goes. How much fun is that? Also, what are the other groups in there? We saw the Zerg. Maybe there's going to be more. You know what I mean? So I'm very excited to check it all out. That one's high on my list. What's the other one? Just the people smiling. the cosplay the enjoyment of blizzcon like blizzcon is a a really special place and as someone who loves and appreciate all things blizzard entertainment and those games being swept up in like the worlds and the community that was really special to me oh yeah there's nothing like a con i love going to a convention man this one was sweet yo come to magic on atlanta with me oh you go back to it i'm going to magic on i'm going to magic on i love that uh now am i doing a trip to new york in the middle of magic con atlanta for a wedding maybe possibly am i being crazy about it uh yes but i can't wait you should come through you're the best enough about all that

2:53Blessing Adeoye Jr.:remember if you're watching live you can be a part of the show by super chatting in over on youtube.com slash kind of funny games we couldn't do this without our producers over on patreon.com slash kind of funny so thank you to omega buster delaney the psalm twining and michael pesavento for now let's be in with what is and forever will be the roper report it's time for some news we have six stories today uh bakers does it starting with our number one a very sad story that of course went up yesterday right broke yesterday um i want to bring to the stage the one and only greg miller who has experience with ign because we're talking about the ign layoffs that happened me and you mike of course we came up as fans of IGN.

3:41Greg Miller actually worked at IGN and knows Brian Altano personally. I know y 'all know Brian Altano, but Greg has more of a history with it, so he can speak to it

3:49Blessing Adeoye Jr.:with more authority and more about IGN in terms of somebody who's actually been there. Before we talk to Greg about it, though, let me read the story. IGN, and this is from Ethan Gotch at Kotaku. IGN's summer of gaming has become another summer of layoffs. Sources tell Kotaku that the top video game website is cutting loose even more of its top talent including some of its most public faces like longtime video host Seth Macy and Brian Altano. They and others impacted have since confirmed the news. The latter has worked at IGN since 2009 and has been on been one of the main hosts of its popular PlayStation podcast Beyond since the departures of Kind of Funny's Greg Miller and Last Stand's Colin Moriarty more than a decade ago.

4:32Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Macy was a senior commerce team editor at the site and frequent host on his popular nintendo voice chat podcast he confirmed his departure on x kotaku understands that today's layoffs have hit multiple departments across the video game website's business the scale of the layoffs is not yet clear although they may be influenced in some cases by employees remote status and whether they were willing to relocate quote my team had a huge content day today on ign covering the launch of valve's steam frame. So this seems like a good time as any to say that I was affected by today's layoffs. That's Beau Moore, senior manager of tech coverage he posted on Blue Sky.

5:11Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Well, my byline is only on one of the seven stories we posted this morning, but I edited every one, worked late last week, and logged on early this morning to make sure everything was on track for one of our biggest coverage days of the year, end quote. The latest round of cuts comes just months after a smaller group of employees, including engineers, were laid off just days after IGN Live, the site's annual LA event for Summer Game Fest wrapped up. The company had a, quote, a habit of doing layoffs right after a successful one, or a successful event, end quote, one IGN Creators Guild member told Aftermath at the time.

5:47Blessing Adeoye Jr.:In addition to IGN Live, the website recently put on its annual on-site coverage blitz of San Diego Comic-Con earlier in the summer with interviews hosted by Altano, among others. Ziff Davis, the site's owner, acquired a bunch of other video game websites back in 2024, including Eurogamer and Rock Paper Shotgun, and has been instituting sporadic editorial cuts ever since. IGN's previous publisher, John Davison, exited the company just over a year ago and was not formally replaced. There's a statement from the IGN Creators Guild that I'll read in a second, but first, I want to throw to Greg Miller.

6:22Greg, of course, this news breaks yesterday. You weren't in the office, but I'm sure your energy was similar, which is, what the fuck? Full stop. Brian Altano, Seth Macy, what's going on here?

6:31Andy Cortez:Full stop. So I come through the Slack and was in the bedroom unpacking from BlizzCon. What a good time, you know what I mean? I walked in there and I literally went, Ben, mommy and I need a minute and a half of you not talking. And then I just read the article you're reading to Jen in Slack-jawed amazement of, holy shit, Brian. And that's not a knock against Seth, obviously. But I mean, Brian's been there. I assume you're going to read this Instagram. I assume in a second, 17 and a half years, 17 and a half years at IGN gone. Like, holy shit.

7:05Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Yeah, of course, Kevin has it pulled up. I'm actually going to see if I can find it. I apologize.

7:09Andy Cortez:The Ethan that updated his article this morning with it. So I thought you were reading from that. I see. I see. But Mike, what were your first thoughts when you saw this new, this new story pop? I mean, just like Greg said, what the fuck? Heartbreaking, right? A lot of these faces and names I have watched, listened to looked up to throughout the years and have even had the pleasure of meeting some of these people and i know how hard they work i know the talent that they have and what they bring to the creativity side of ign and it is just heartbreaking to see a lot of these names let go at just seemingly a random day right it doesn't feel like anyone has done their job improperly or poorly it's just hey it's time to go and i don't it's hard to make sense of it all and that's the thing you know you talk about the ign's creators guild statement talking about there's a habit after a successful event or a big thing that you know this happens and it's crazy to think back to our me working at ign and when we covered the playstation 4 announcement and we had sent clements out there and a whole bunch of other people and they got laid off on the plane ride back from that event like they had covered it live and done it and so then you talk you know they read from bo's statement uh that he put out right and it's the same thing he had something like seven bylines yesterday talking about he made sure the entire site was decked out for uh steam or sort of the valve frame and then that's the day you get fucking cut you know what i mean like that's the reward of your hard work that's story number two is his byline like story number two is going to be us reading from a story from bowmore and for me i think the my reaction of course you see brian's name you see seth macy's name and i saw bow pop up and these are all people who I've met, who I've hung out with, obviously I know them to varying degrees.

8:47Bo throws a wonderful GDC party that I like to go to every year. And he's a really cool dude. You might not recognize him if you're somebody who's like listening to the podcast or whatever, because he's on the tech side. But he's such a cool dude.

8:59Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Brian, of course, is somebody who, you know, my first video game podcasts that I listened to, I think were you and Brian, right? Talking on GameScoop alongside Damon, Colin, whoever. And so to get here and to see somebody with such tenure at IGN be let go I think it signals it signals multiple things right I think it's a big shift in games media as far as where we're at in 2026 and a big shift in IGN in terms of how they're viewing things how they're viewing their own content Brian it's hard for me to think of people I guess front-facing people at IGN who I would say are more visible than Brian and Max I might be missing somebody of course I'm not Damon's still there obviously GameScoop and he

9:41Andy Cortez:He hosts a lot of the IGN live stuff too. McCaffrey on the editorial side. Yeah. Yeah. But like Brian and Max are definitely at that forefront of, yeah. Oh, these are when I think of IGN, I think of these people. So just say Brian let go. It's crazy. Yeah. A hundred percent. Yeah. It's monumental. It's insane. It's to everything you just said, what does it mean for IGN? What does it mean for their path forward? What does it mean? There's so many different ways and threads to pull on, right? For me, what it comes back to is both as an alum of IGN and then, a friend of Brian, of course, and then a business owner, right?

10:16Andy Cortez:The thing that, and this is always difficult because we aren't playing with the full deck. We don't know everything. We don't know every conversation. We don't know how long we don't know severance packages. We do. We don't know, but based on how this is being handled today and Seth Macy and Bo and Brian, yep, it's true. I'm gone. It doesn't sound like there was a lot of runway on this one in terms of like, you knew this was coming at a, and so where I'm left being the most angry. is just, I don't think this is how you treat a human being after 17 and a half years. You know what I think? You know, if we're sitting here and being objective and clinical about it, IGN closed at San Francisco office.

10:54Andy Cortez:They said LA is the home base. I've never been in those meetings either. But from what I understand, it wasn't, you had to move down here. You were encouraged, but you didn't have to. Perhaps it would look like that's changing, right? And then you talk to Brian who has a family and has a life up here and has built something, right? if I'm in that room and we get to that point with any of you which is doesn't make any sense but let's just say we moved everybody to the kind of funny la office and we said bless you can stay here we're gonna go down there trust me I would go to la but the conversation would be right of like hey we need you to move this is gonna become we have you have to we we've gotten to the point man you got to come down or not be here yeah and if you're like I'm not gonna come out I have a family and kids at home all this stuff then to me what it would become is cool we are sun setting bless everybody after how many years of 2020 was official right yeah after almost seven years right like bless has been a part of this company but we are moving the full operations to la he can't come or doesn't want to come we are saying goodbye to him over the next six months you know what i mean like it's the summer of altano or whatever i wouldn't it wouldn't that's that's what gets me And again, I'm not in any of these meetings.

12:06Andy Cortez:I don't have the full information on it, but that's how I would treat people. And so to have it then be tossed into, it is granted again, we don't have all the information, but for it to be tossed into, Oh, it's a bunch of layoffs. Then it's even more fucked up of like, you're laying off. Somebody who's been there 17 years. You know what I mean? 17 fucking years. And it's just like, all right, cool. Like, how do you inspire any loyalty from your audience? I'm sorry, not your audience, your audience for sure. But your employees, right? If they're seeing you not take care of one of your most tenured employees, why would anybody work these late nights?

12:41Andy Cortez:Why would they say that you all know from working here, like, you know, we're a mini IGN in many ways. And like, there's simply no way to do our job and not have it follow you home. I want you all to take as much time off of shows to play and review the game you need to play and review. But you all know it's going to follow you home at some point. Hopefully that's for the best. And again, we're we're the fun guys of like, I like the game. So of course I'm playing it or I only played seven hours of it. I hated it. I refuse to play it at home. That's an, that's a totally, you know, reasonable answer.

13:07Andy Cortez:But like when you're talking about like everything Bo just did for the frame, like he was playing that at home and I grant these work from home. Apparently, I don't know, but you know what I mean? Like it's not a great message. If I walked in one day and like, I hear Andy's gone tomorrow, like we're weird first, whatever reason it's not working out. Andy's we're laying off Andy, we're laying off roger they're gone tomorrow i all of a sudden go shit i gotta jump ship i gotta get out yeah right if it happens and again like that and i know we're playing with a lot of hypotheticals here sure but of course there's a big difference between employee x did something and they're not here tomorrow they fucked up and versus out of the blue and then it's like then i start getting mad to a degree about the creators guild like so what's the point of this union.

13:56Andy Cortez:I love unions. I've said a million different times, right? I am the product of a union. I would not be here if it wasn't for the local one 50 operating engineers in Chicago, Illinois. Thank you so much for my teeth. You know what I mean? Like, but it's like, they put out another statement and it's like, okay, but like when Stella got fired, let go, whatever that was, I don't know if that was a layoff or what it was, but there was a hullabaloo there too. And there was a statement from it. It's like when, when we were coming up on IGN live in LA this year and they went and they wrote stuff out on the chalk on the sidewalks, right?

14:26Andy Cortez:Of like, we demand better pay and all this different stuff. It's like, cool. But like, you can't be the anti-werewolf brigade. And every time the werewolves come to town, you go, man, somebody's got to stop these werewolves. It's like, no, you got to fucking, what are we doing? I don't know what we're doing. And again, I'm not in it. So it's just a confusing message from the outside. I want to see the people who get to go do this awesome job and career we have. I want to see them taken care of. And so that's why it's so frustrating now and again maybe it doesn't sound like it but maybe i'm missing some real information from the inside that is no no no there's a lot of conversations and this was the build-up but that's certainly not the temperature it seems from these posts yeah there are two

15:03Blessing Adeoye Jr.:two posts i want to read one from brian and i'll read the ign uh creators one and i want to not a correction but a clarification right i said brian and max i lump those two together like mario and luigi brian is the one that said he's being laid off i don't believe max is laid off but i don't it also seems like there's information that's still coming out so i have no idea creators guild

15:22Andy Cortez:statement in the most recent article i read from the update to ethan's thing makes it sound like someone else is still in the wind until november do you have that most up-to-date one um let me go to the this is the one from the kotaku article okay keep reading and see if this is the one does it look like the one it looks like it i can also go to a kotaku yeah go to kotaku their most update one updated one. Cause I saw Ethan put out today shocking when Ethan was like, his statement today was something like, Oh man, you know, I grew up on, all right. I, IGN podcasts are one of the main reasons I'm doing this.

15:54Andy Cortez:And it's like, I was like, Oh man, I think of Ethan is such an adult. And then I was like, well, actually I'm older. Shit. He probably wasn't even listening to your podcast when I was there. I ran it. I went to the IGN Reddit. I was like, Oh man, are they talking about this? Of course. And IGN Reddit's not very active, but one of the three ones down was like, I miss when they used to do up at noon. And I was like, hell yeah and i clicked on it everyone was talking about the max and brian version of up and you're like god damn i'm old i'm old as fucking shit yeah so the ign creators guild

16:20Blessing Adeoye Jr.:statement this is as of 1207 a.m on september 15th today was an awful day at ign we were blindsided by the layoff of four union members and many more people across the organizations who contributed years of their careers to making ign an unparalleled voice in games and entertainment with each successive layoff four parts of ign's operation continued to be stripped away Today, IHN has decided to do away with many of our talented producers, editors, hosts, and crucial roles both within and out of the union. How many laughs will occur before we no longer recognize the company we work for and the content that we make?

16:55Blessing Adeoye Jr.:While we recognize the challenges the media industry is facing as a whole, it is difficult to understand how laying off valuable employees better positions us to meet those challenges. in turn remaining employees bear additional workloads worsened by anxiety over the ever looming threat of another layoff we are devastated angry and heartbroken for our colleagues let me

17:15Andy Cortez:jump in here because i misspoke sorry this is luke plunkett over at aftermath who has the exact same statement but then this paragraph speaking to aftermath ign creators guild leadership say the union were not told about the layoffs in advance even though in previous rounds they had at least been given a courtesy heads up this meant it took the creators guild most of the day just to find out who exactly had been laid off both inside and outside of the union at the time of publishing they estimate four union employees were affected today with another pending a decision in november that worker status is pending because the unions say that the employee was given an ultimatum to either move to los angeles despite owning a home and having kids in school in their home city or be laid off gotcha the first thing i was like does michael haim have kids i gotta figure out my roommate situation i don't think he if he does i don't think he knows about him you know what i

18:03Blessing Adeoye Jr.:mean um i want to read this other statement from brian altano uh he posted on instagram about three hours ago the rumors are true after 17 and a half years at ijan.com friday october 2nd will be my last day working there it feels surreal even saying that but getting to work uh one of the coolest jobs on earth for roughly the same amount of time that i spent in first grade through college is just an insane run that I'll forever be immensely proud of. I traveled the world for this gig, got to meet so many of my heroes, work alongside some of the most talented writers, hosts, and producers on earth, and meet hundreds of awesome and wonderful fans.

18:39Blessing Adeoye Jr.:There really isn't any other way I can summarize this. I just feel so lucky I got to do this for so long. That wasn't a chapter. That was several books. For many of you, I've been in your podcast feeds every week talking about video games and more for years and years, and my first priority is to figure out how to keep doing that for you, ideally with some familiar voices you've heard me collaborate with many times before. I've got a few shoots left to do for IGN, and then I'm a free agent, and I'm honestly more excited than scared about what that's gonna look like. Until then, the outpouring of love I've received in the past 24 hours has both knocked me on my ass and fired me up like crazy to figure out what's next.

19:18Blessing Adeoye Jr.:I'm trying my best to get back to everyone. Thank you for being so kind. I've got nothing but love for the folks still working to make cool stuff at IGN, and I wish them all the success in the world. Thank you all for letting me be a part of your life, and I hope you'll join me for what's next. We're going to have fun. That's always what this was all about. Love, Brian.

19:37Andy Cortez:So well said.

19:38Blessing Adeoye Jr.:So well said. And Brian, I have no worry about as far as where he goes from here. I'm actually very excited to see what he does, right? Whether it is just freelance, going to be hosting a bunch of different events, or if he lands somewhere a bit more concrete. Like, either way, I think he has a bright future ahead of him, and I would say the same about Bo, I would say the same about Seth Macy. Seth Macy is somebody who again, like, if you listen to the podcast, you know Seth Macy from Nintendo Voice Chat. I've met Seth Macy at multiple things. He's such a cool dude. I like one. I forget which review it was, but like recently I saw one of his IGN reviews where he kind of like, instead of doing the regular scripted thing, he kind of did an off the cuff, I'm just going to talk about the game for 10 minutes and it's really lovely seeing his personality come through and seeing his expertise come through when he's talking about video games as well and so, you know, these are people that deserve your support these are people that are clearly not laid off because of a lack of talent or anything like that and so i hope this industry agrees and sees that and is able to pick them up uh in this moment okay i mean everything you just said and we've just said right i think

20:40Andy Cortez:it's a fascinating flashpoint for ign as what we know it and what ign actually is you know i think Like IGN has not struggled, but I think had an issue coming back from COVID. And I think this is the most recent sign of it. Again, closing the SF office, going remote. Like we've been so lucky to be able to have the studio and figure it out the way we have. Cause we're 11 people. We're not hundreds of people like IGN or GameSpot or whatever, where you can't, once you get that genie out of the bottle and you let people go, how do you bring them back? What do you do about that? And so here we are.

21:15Andy Cortez:And it is, what is IGN to people anymore? I don't know. Like, and it's not, for me, it's still, I go there and I read the reviews and I check the front page and I do that thing. But it's like, I don't know what this does to them. I don't know if that matters to them in terms of the optics for the audience. Because I do think, you know, a long, long time ago, I got super, super, super fucking bent out of shape at Justin McElroy. And this is long, long, long, long, long before I knew him. Like, this is before Oreration, where he was actually a bit then and always commenting and being fun about it right but it was uh uh he said something when he was at when polygon it started up maybe maybe it was even before polygon i forget it doesn't matter but the gist was pretty much a direct quote of like everybody was something that happened at ign and we were talking about it and his social media comment on it was listen if you're going to be the mcdonald's of games journalism you can't get mad when somebody insults the food or so it was i'm not but he called us McDonald's.

22:15Andy Cortez:Yeah. And I took such a fence to that, that I put them on my list of people that hated IGN. Cause I had a list of like people who would shoot their mouths off. Usually people telling me to go die. And I was like, then their bio was like, I'm a games journalist. I'm like, see if you ever work here. Uh, but it took me years to understand what he meant of like McDonald's is the biggest burger brand. It's millions of people served. Right. So it's like, even though me and Damon and Altano and Colin and Craig Harris, we were all trying to make this custom meal for somebody on a podcast, right? The millions were showing up to say, what was the score on the biggest game?

22:47Andy Cortez:I want to know what the score was. I want to, they didn't care about this. They're there for the Big Mac and you're trying to make a McRib. And so there's so many people who are still showing up to IGN every day just for the headlines, just for the thing. Not, they don't eat, they, IGN said it was X, Y, and Z. They don't pay attention that it was Travis Northup who said that. And he has a history and this is what he thought of Path of Exile. So it's like, there's so many people who consume it without knowing, that I don't know how much this affects them in the end. And also you get to like, I don't know.

23:16Andy Cortez:Like, I don't, it's, it's a bewildering decision to talk about Brian Altono leaving. And again, we're not there. We don't know. And yada, yada, but it's like, to your point, like when there is a sponsored op, it's Brian. When, when there's a, we have to send somebody to Germany to host the live show. It's Brian and Max and Damon. I'm not taking away from them, but it's like, okay, cool. So how are we paring that down? Are you using freelancers? Are you bringing in more people? But then the people who are already making it clearly aren't happy in general, it seems with what's going on and how they're being treated.

23:47Andy Cortez:I don't know. There's a lot for them to figure out and prove as we go forward. But then again, it doesn't matter to use hire some freelancer. We were at BlizzCon walked into that press room. This is not a knock against anybody. I swear to God. And everybody, like all the bigger outlets had like, Hey, here's the IGN space in the space over there. And I looked over at the IGN one and I recognized the cameraman from my time what up brian i didn't have a chance to say hey but i didn't recognize the host and i was like oh and i was like i don't know if she's full-time i don't know if that was a part-time i don't know if that was just she knows blizzard and they hired that person to do it but is that the answer and that's what i'm saying like do you just bring in outside talent on a show-to-show basis and do that kind of thing i don't know yeah so the glory days it's of having the sf office and we are all there playing rock band and this is the thing are gone and it's not only because igien has changed it's because the world has changed you know what i mean like that's the thing of like i was talking i obviously talked a lot about this last night and a lot of feelings last night right because i love ig and so much but i love my ign right and so i'll always that brand and that logo and the people and you know pair and like all these people will always matter so much to me but like i don't know what's happening over there anymore and so it's like crazy i was talking to jen about i'm like i i've thought about it obviously but we've done such an interesting thing a kind of funny of taking what we loved about IGN and bringing in here and protecting it where you know I mean I remember Damon and I leaving the old podcast room and being like man imagine if we could just do that all day long that's all we do now all we do now is just talk and hang out and play games and it's awesome but it's like that's a business model we figured out that that works for us and we're happy with our success whereas again IGN hundreds of employees owned by Ziff Davis you've got all these different people in different levels and different people shareholders like i don't know man it's a very very sad day very well said super sad day greg thank you so much for coming through talking to us about it thank you everybody thank you everybody brian you're always welcome come through brian seth macy you stay the fuck away now seth macy you come here also granted it's gonna be a long flight for you if you want to come here in person but we got videos we can make things happen

25:49Blessing Adeoye Jr.:mike we got a whole lot more to talk about yes we do show and so we're gonna transition over to story number two but before we do want to transition you over to some ads come one come all

27:35Blessing Adeoye Jr.:And we're back. And before we move on, actually, I'm going to bring to you some super chats. JVC writes in and says, Traded in my Wolverine pre-order for Tomodachi. Ask me anything. Come on. Okay. All right. All right. Hell yeah. I'll ask you something. Who are you going to create first? Yeah, what are you calling your island? Yeah, we're going to play the game. What are you going to make? What's the theme? Will you add Wolverine onto your island? Are you going to make Wolverine and play Wolverine on Tomodachi Live? Let us know. Age Atomic writes in and says, this IGN news sucks. I fail to point in having a union.

28:08Blessing Adeoye Jr.:I don't know what they're saying. I fail to point in having a union if there are no warning or consultation period. I fail to point in having a union. I see what they're trying to say. Yeah, I don't know. Matt Yu writes in and says, love the Gary Oak fit. Bless. You rocking it. I don't know if that's a diss or a compliment. That's better than Nigel Thornberry, so you'll take it. You know what? Honestly, Gary Oak was cool in the cartoon. Gary Oak was cool. Gary Oak was cool. Kevin, if you can find a picture of Gary Oak, I want to see the comparison. Stop calling him by his full name. I don't like it.

28:45Gary Oak? That's his full name. Yeah, but we call him Gary. Yeah, well, it's just Gary. Gary from Pokemon? Yeah. yeah but they wouldn't know you say gary from pokemon people wouldn't know you want to know

28:53Blessing Adeoye Jr.:yeah you gotta say gary oak been a long time that was 20 years ago come on gary okey uh eric metz writes and says brian and max were the reason i began listening to video game podcasts it's heartbreaking to hear the news i'll be there to support brian with whatever comes next agreed oh that's a good photo of him thank you i want to be mad but i see exactly what they're saying kind of messed up actually that they will do that to me actually that color that's actually really fucked up that you would call me gary oak i'm wearing the exact same fit crazy fit shit all right we're gonna end the show here i can't go on that's messed up so much more stories left all right let's do it story number two valve says ram crisis hasn't affected plans for the steam deck too this is from bowmore at ign it's no secret that valve is hard at work on steam deck 2.

29:42Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Its devs have said as much every time I've asked that question over the last several years, and their plans for a sequel have been clear from the start. The crux of the message has always been that Valve is waiting for the proper technology in order to present a true generational leap in performance. The unspoken part of that, of course, is that Valve is waiting for not just the right level of performance, but the correct performance to price ratio that would make Steam Deck 2 a viable product. In the time since the Steam Deck originally launched, a number of other more powerful handheld gaming PCs have come to market, all at moderate to significantly higher prices.

30:19Blessing Adeoye Jr.:In other words, the performance might be there now, but the price isn't. It might be a worry then that the RAM crisis that has driven up hardware prices, everything from graphic cards to gaming consoles to the Steam Deck itself, would impact Valve's plans for a device so sensitive to component costs like the Steam Deck 2. Thankfully, Valve says its plans haven't changed. My colleague Jackie recently sat down with Valve software developers Pierre-Loup Graffet and Jeff Lanebo, and they had a reassuring answer to her question about whether the ongoing RAM shortage has impacted Valve's plans. Quote, not really, said Graffet.

30:56Blessing Adeoye Jr.:We've talked about how we want to make sure there is a very delineated performance improvement for something like a future Steam Deck, and I think we're still looking at it in the same way. It's just a matter of looking at the current conditions and seeing how and when we can deliver something like that. But from what we're working on, as far as the user experience goes and what the product that we're trying to build goes, it's very similar goals, end quote. To me, that sounds like Valve's target hasn't changed, but the timeline might've. As I said before, it's all about finding the right price to performance ratio where a new Steam Deck would make sense.

31:34mike when do we get the steam deck to

31:422029 okay 2028 feels right but i bet you that's like announcement and roadmap 2029 feels about right 2029 2030 it's a very interesting story right because of course we saw the success in the steam deck we just saw steam and valve with their last two projects and what pricing has done to both of those of now people see the price they can go oh i'm not ready for that right and they were kind of the first to do this we've seen price increases for the series x and playstation 5 and of course the switch as well but we haven't gone to the next gen of consoles yet where it's going to be that initial sticker shock right and so for valve it's like hey we already have a successful steam deck out right now we're trying with our other products we don't really need to rush this we're looking for the right components and maybe let's let some other people, handhelds and consoles, they can announce their prices.

32:34Let's get the audience a little more. The higher prices, and then we can roll out and we'll kind of be right in the middle of it all. I don't expect us in 2029 to see a Steam Deck that is all of a sudden$400. I think we're past those days, unfortunately. I think we are going to be living in a$600 minimum to$1 ,200 world from this point forward, probably. It's tough right now to announce a Steam Deck 2 that's coming out for, let's say,$800 dollars yeah it gets easier to announce that after playstation 6 and xbox helix get announced in their 1100 1200 bucks or your competition handhelds are all now a thousand plus dollars yeah then we slide in and we look a little bit better or when you announce it for a thousand dollars the audience is already receptive the audience is like this is the pricing yeah exactly yeah but i want it i want it to be good too what are you looking for just a more performance like this i think performance i think they've nailed the user experience they've nailed what i want right i do appreciate the freedom of what the steam deck can do of course the xbox rgl i've been using a lot of and that has a lot of freedom as well but i like these handhelds and what they offer it's just a handheld pc essentially so they're nailing what i need can i tell you something that's revolutionizing the game and that'll continue to revolutionize the game it's cross save because i will always have reasons to buy new handhelds new pieces of hardware as long as my save can follow me from place to place i got my a way and a y and thor i got my steam games on there and the fact that my cloud save makes it so that all right i'm gonna play on steam deck now i'm gonna play on my laptop at work now i'm gonna play my desktop at home now i'm gonna pick pick up my a y and thor and continue my playthrough there that's pretty cool i didn't know it was going over to that that's oh yeah dude like it's i mean we're living in the best timeline right now as far as the functionality of making this shit work in the most dream like i'm living a dream way as possible i mean those are the things that we ask for right the cross saves and most importantly uh play anywhere the one-time purchase and that carries over to a number of pieces of hardware right it's like the dream reality that we're living in and also the freedom that you brought up that that console that you have in your pocket that i know you've running around with the freedom of that of being able to do so many things with it and valve is right there at the front of it with their steam deck right and i'm excited to see more what they can do i love the handheld and so yeah this is just a waiting game i think a lot of companies right now we all know are in the waiting game and when it comes to the steam deck 2 they probably have longer to wait than a xbox or playstation who are kind of next up and we will see them sooner than later.

35:16Listen, this is what I'll say. All right, you guys listen to a podcast. Use your ears. People in chat are saying, oh, you're saying it's the best timeline. Oh, it's a terrible timeline. Listen to the full sentence I said. It's the best timeline as far as the functionality of cross save because it's only getting better. Witcher 3 is coming out and that's going to have cross save between PC and consoles and Switch and I can play on whatever I want. That's what it's the best timeline for. Did I say it's the best timeline for politics? No. Did I say it's the best timeline for hardware prices? Absolutely not.

35:43Did I say it's the best timeline for the fucking New York Knicks? It is. Right now it is the best line for the New York Knicks. Use your fucking ears if you listen to a podcast chat.

35:52Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Story number three. Multiple music artists tease GTA 6 collaborations. This is Liam Croft at Push Square. Travis Scott has teased some kind of collaboration he has in the works with GTA 6 and Rockstar in an Instagram post. Scott has posted an image in the style of GTA 6 of a woman's feet in purple high heels that seem to be wrapped around a pole. The text accompanying the picture reads, phase one, now it's time. Oh, I meant to link this one, Kevin. I'm sorry. Kevin, if you can look up this story on Push Square, because that'll link all the Instagram posts within the news story. I will look for it.

36:28Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Thank you. But yeah, the post reads, phase one, now it's time. My return to game got to come with rage and a lot of dancing. Let's ride. J-O-H. To be continued. See y 'all at Rockstar Games. I don't know what part of that means. I don't know what J-O-H means. Yeah, I don't know what J-O-H is. Just hold on. Nope. Nope. Nope. Not at all. I don't know. Job. J-O-H. If you know what J-O-H is, let me know. Well, he's got dots after it, too, as if I should know the letters. J dot dot dot. Just out here? Just out. No, but it's only got one dot after the O. Just dot dot dot. Out here. And here's got a.

37:12Blessing Adeoye Jr.:it's a lot more dots oh yes this travis scott one this thing right here yeah but like scroll down to the actual post this is the so so people can see yeah this is the picture it's a gta joh in regards to that i mean obviously this is a stripper we're at a stripping establishment four letter word starts with j can i say stripper are we saying dancer now no we call them enthusiastic dancers now

37:45he's an enthusiastic dancer okay

37:48Blessing Adeoye Jr.:so when he says maybe he meant no he didn't he did not mean that chat he did not mean that all right moving on with the story Travis Scott is one of the biggest rappers in the world so the most obvious collaboration here would be to have some of his songs feature on the in-game radio stations some of his biggest hits include Sycamode, Fiend you guys know Travis Scott's his actually some of y 'all don't um highest in the room and would seem like obvious picks for a rap radio station in the game now in an update to this story it's not just travis scott teasing a gta 6 collaboration a couple more music artists have posted online their involvement with rockstar games country singer morgan wallen has posted similar to travis scott their image being the side of a swimming pool and sun loungers and then future has also teased their involvement yes this is how you get me excited yeah i mean yeah GTA radio is a big deal.

38:42It is the music. It is the culture. It is a time piece of the world of where we're all at, right? And you and I have discussed how important music is in video games and how important it is. I'm just like kind of taking a timestamp of where we are, right? From Madden's and all those FIFA's, all of the sports games and GTA in particular. It's like these are important stuff right now. And this also carries the game, right? When I get in every single car, you're tuning into the station that you love. You're tuning on or you're tuning into talk radio to see what kind of crazy jokes they put in there.

39:14You're going to the country songs to hear all my exes live in Texas. Right. You're going to the hip hop West Coast. Listening to K-Rose. Yeah. Come on. This is very important. Right. And I have no doubt they'll nail it because music right now is absolutely red hot. And there's a billion songs to choose from. It's just now who do they choose? Who do they got? I mean, so far they're choosing the biggest names. Yeah. Like, I wonder if this is going to be limited to their songs or in the soundtrack. Or, as we've seen in GTA 5 and updates added over time in a GTA 5, they have radio stations that are themed around artists and their curation.

39:50Yeah. And so they have Blonded Radio, which is Frank Ocean. They have, I forget the name of the Flying Lotus radio station, but Flying Lotus has a radio station. They did that over time. And so I wonder if we're going to get future radio. I wonder if we're going to get Morgan Wallen radio. I wonder if we're going to get, who's it? Travis Scott. You know what I mean? Travis Scott is in there DJing, saying straight up every two seconds. Straight up. Straight up. I mean, it's exciting, right? I cannot wait. Will they have K-pop in this, right? Now on the rise of K-pop, will they have some sort of K-pop radio station?

40:21We know there will be a big Latin influence down in Miami, right? Like, there will be multiple radio stations dedicated to that. Because here's the thing. We've been saying Pitbull for the longest time. I think, and maybe it's both but if you choose between Pitbull or Bad Boonie Pitbull I feel like is kind of about the past I feel like both can have who? Bad Bunny Bad Bunny You said it weird I feel like that's how you say it Bad Bunny I think it's just Bad Bunny right? I tried I like what you did I mean Bad Bunny would be choice number one choice would be have both of them i'm more interested in like will we have fun interstitials with them like the regular radio that'd be fun could you pay all these celebrities and have them do this is travis god you're listening to radio los santos yeah i mean that'd be pretty fun it's gonna be pretty dope that's actually pretty sick when do we see more of this so like here we are in the rollout previews have now come out we had the big netflix 20 minutes we are what two full months away now what's next what do we when do we get more do we get more we better get more we i want i want to ramp up that marketing machine brother it starts right now they go to instagram which songs from travis scottie putting in there because you read those big four and those are massive songs i mean okay do we want to sickle mode for sure if you want to do the easy answer sickle mode and if you're gta and you're rockstar and you're wanting to spend money just because you got it it's sicko mode i feel like fiends in that fiend would be a good one all the kids love fiend i don't love fiend but they love fiend my i'm trying to think well here's the thing okay

42:05Blessing Adeoye Jr.:because i like the last two travis scott albums a lot okay utopia and um astroworld oh if you want to go with my my favorite song from utopia is my eyes okay now that doesn't scream gta my eyes is a bit more mellow of a song um modern jam by tzo touch or featuring tzo touchdown would be great during a car chase okay that would be fantastic during a car chase meltdown featuring drake i think would be a it'd be hype but like maybe not for gta i don't know that one's tough now if i look at astroworld like i mentioned sicko world makes the most sense skeletons i feel like could be a decent one my favorite song off of there uh they're not putting on the soundtrack coffee bean coffee bean is a good song by travis and here's the fun part is there's a room full of dedicated employees right now yeah bringing down all the songs and making killer playlists for each radio station yeah and that's got to be so much fun no bystanders is such a good poll chat no bystanders would be a great one give me a title of the creator radio let's get real how many radio stations i mean i don't think you need to overdo it no no patches no nothing day one how many radio stations when you go to the spin dial i think it's the standard however many you typically get what like 10 i would say 10 to 12 i think i'm trying to think like three kind of feels like it's rounding out another three i would say 10 to 12 radio stations yeah and then you add more over time yeah yeah i don't think you need to go overboard i think now i think those stations have a lot of songs okay i think you maybe get more song per station than you typically get i think we're reaching in the bag it's exciting i think you get a lot of dj stuff i can't what i'm excited about who are the radio personalities is laszlo's not connected to this anymore right didn't laszlo leave i think lasso from what i remember i thought lasso left after five right yeah he went to go to the other team do something else right yes and so who are the radio person do you find somebody in real life you get charlamagne the god oh my god i'm not mad at it i'm not mad at it wild right like that's the exciting stuff i don't but i don't think charlamagne's funny enough he's a great radio host but i don't think he's i think you gotta get something really fun you gotta get a comedian and they're just playing a role they're not themselves they play a fun you gotta get a comedian who can do that radio thing but also eat in some just nasty jokes this is some hilarious shit you get nick scarpino i mean they get what a radio host per station pretty much they'll have one radio host per station you think they'll do the uh like the smooth jazz and the orchestra radio station again has that been missing everyone i feel like it's in every game that's that's what my mind comes to it comes to every game yeah why not yeah yeah i think you get that i don't know who's fucking with that though everybody's saying bad booty and chat listen don't get mad at me for trying to have a little swag with the way i say it i'm just trying to you know what i mean like i like that you tried i like i'm trying it i'm just made up a bunch of sounds at the end no no that's how that's how it sounds i don't know man you guys I speak Spanish.

45:03That's not how it sounds. You can't be like, hey, that's how they pronounce it. I didn't say that. You said that. I mean, yeah, but you know. I'm just saying, I've heard people say it like that. Give it to them. Give them a clean one right now. Give it to them.

45:18Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Bad Booney. Come on. Story number four. Injustice 3 is seemingly the mysterious unannounced fighting game that's been hosting playtests in California. This is from Sheriff Saeed at Eurogamer. NetherRealm's next project has yet to be officially announced, but many believe it to be the third entry in the studio's superhero fighting game series, Injustice. Now, there are new signs that a select few outside the studio are playing Injustice 3. This all started with a post on Good Gamer Group, a company that provides NDA-protected testing services for game publishers. The post, since been deleted, was spotted by Event Hubs via Kotaku, which highlighted a number of curious pieces of evidence that all pointed to being a NetherRealm project.

46:01Blessing Adeoye Jr.:I'll point to it being a Netherrealm project. For starters, the listing includes two descriptors for the mysterious game. It calls it a AAA fighting game in one instance and a major 2D fighting game in another. Neither is specifically limited to Netherrealm projects, of course, but as Event Hubs points out, all the fighting games we know to be in the works are either smaller games or 3D fighters. The location of the playtest is what gives us another clue. The playtest is held in Culver City, California, meaning the game is from an American studio. What's more, NetherRealm's parent company, Warner Brothers Games, also happens to be headquartered in the same city.

46:41Blessing Adeoye Jr.:NetherRealm hasn't been shy about confirming it's working on a new project. Studio boss Ed Boone said in May, the team is, quote, actively pursuing another Mortal Kombat game while, quote, definitely doing more as well. as event hubs also points out the studio has been hiring qa testers and designers at various points this year even beyond the studio itself two voice actors who are who are part of the first two injustice games let slip in 2025 they're returning to voice their respective characters in injustice 3 though they later walked it back which is common when actors accidentally confirm the existence of unannounced projects indeed injustice 3 art popped up on a warner brothers games artist's online resume back in April.

47:22Blessing Adeoye Jr.:The timing of this playtest is another element pointing it to be another NetherRealm game. Since the release of MK1 in 2023, the studio has seemingly shifted to a four-year development cycle, seeing as that game came out four years after its predecessor, Mortal Kombat 11. As Injustice 3 in 2027 would make sense and reveal at Game Awards in December would also line up with the studio's reveal-to-release schedule. Mortal Kombat 11 was announced at the game awards though the studio didn't do the same with mortal combat one whatever plans nether realm has for this one works clearly closer than ever now to some sort of reveal you're fighting game poppy does this make sense bless it all makes sense seems like a little bit of sense it feels like we're stretching like when it comes down to like it's a little mr fantastic it's just it's a Very excited about that.

48:19This post, of course, seems like a little bit of stretching, but probably is maybe what it is. You know what I mean? It seems to be down on the lots. It is a, what was the post here? A triple A fighting game. Yeah. 2D fighting game. That's my like a little bit of stretching of like, okay, that can be pointed to anything. But yeah. Them saying like, oh yeah, we know everything else. It's like, no, we don't know everything. We know what's announced. Yeah. There are plenty of games that are unannounced. So there might be a triple A 2D fighting game. DC KO. And all of a sudden they hand you a phone down there.

48:47Yeah. I mean, you're 100 % right. Are we calling that AAA? No. Maybe on the site. I don't know. But I hope it happens. I'd be down for injustice. I want a break from Mortal Kombat from NetherRealm. Give me one game in between this and the next Mortal Kombat. It feels like that would be the right move, especially with DC right now having a nice pop with lanterns. People really riding for the Rob Pat Batman, of course. We'll see James Gunn, of course, Superman, Supergirl. He's building that up. We'll see how that lines up in the timeline of movies. Is there anything going around there? Clayface, of course, as well.

49:21So it's like DC having a moment. DC's having their moment. And like, yeah, if you would launch a Injustice 3 alongside this kind of moment, probably a lot better than just another Mortal Kombat, right? Like Mortal Kombat I ride for, you know that. But I think the general audience might jump on an Injustice a little bit more on that.

49:39Blessing Adeoye Jr.:I agree. Story number five, 007 First Light for Switch 2 has been delayed. this was announced by 007 First Light's Twitter account. The post reads, Today we would like to provide an update on the Switch 2 release of 007 First Light. We know many of you have been looking forward to experiencing Bond's reimagined origin story on Switch 2, and we greatly appreciate your enthusiasm. To ensure we deliver the quality of experience players expect, we have made the decision to delay the release to March 2027, with the exact date to be communicated later. This additional time will go toward polishing the Switch 2 performance of the game.

50:12Blessing Adeoye Jr.:we were thrilled by the positive feedback on double seven first light at gamescom and it's a great sign of the progress being made across the whole game as we head towards launch the same demo will be playable at tokyo game show this week so please join us there if you'll like a hands-on experience we'll make well we will share further updates as soon as we are ready thank you for your patience understanding and continued support here's what i'll say did you were either during the last nintendo direct thanks plus i was just gonna say last week we were just riding for this that gameplay did look a bit uh a little a little off oh yeah and i'm sure they've also gotten feedback from their demos at uh the events that they've gone to get gamescom and they'll get some at tokyo it clearly seems like maybe they have received some feedback and they're like okay you know what some extra time to polish i'm trying to polish i worry about this game actually getting to the place it needs to be on switch 2 it's a it's a really high fidelity game like playing it on my playstation i had i when i reviewed it right i was going back and forth between my base ps5 and my ps5 pro and like i could tell the difference ps5 pro was the way to play that game um obviously it runs fine on ps5 but i making the jump down to switch 2 in terms of power i think will be tough to make it come out in a version that people are generally happy with.

51:34Okay, I mean, that's step one. Yeah. Because in my mind, when I think about the Switch, I'm not about the bells and the whistles that I would get from the high-end PC or the PS5 Pro. I am just looking for this to be kind of the baseline of it all, running well, looking decent. I don't think we need to go super past that in my mind, but step one is to make it run well and if you don't think we're there yet then it's going to

51:59Blessing Adeoye Jr.:be some polished time now in similar news aliens fireteam elite 2 has been delayed for switch 2 this comes to repress release after careful consideration we now plan to release it natively on switch 2 in early 2027 this extra time will help the team deliver the best possible version for the hardware thank you for your patience and understanding in the meantime the team at coal iron remains aggressively focused on tuning aliens fireteam elite 2 to the best possible experience for every player that one just got added to the doc i don't know who what magical person yeah but that's another one for you i mean put it down as another mike and blessing let's keep an eye on this 007 one what are the sales on switch right even to me to this day i don't think the sales on switch are massive right who is the audience that is like i gotta have james bond on my switch like i know there's a large audience over there on switch i just don't see them riding for James Bond when I think of the Nintendo audience that's like pretty low down the line for me but it's the seven on the top 10 chart it's the it's the idea that switch two players um or not even switch two players I guess like I think there's an audience that is rooting for third party games to come out on switch to and be able to be viable and um be able to I guess make the platform a platform that you can only own a switch to and be okay yeah and we're on that like first step on that first it's like name me three of the big ones right resident evil the ones that have already come out yeah that have come out giving you that love of like i believe this is gonna work i mean final fantasy 7 requiem or not requiem sorry final fantasy 7 revelation i think it's probably gonna run well okay well enough that's the thing is i a lot of his future looking but we've been getting a lot of announcements for these third-party games on switch 2 and i don't worry about it that much i think 007 first light is kind of a specific example of a game that did not look good in the trailer that i'm like oh i don't know about this one but i don't i think that might be more of a 007 problem okay but i also think that i think long term the second half of the switch 2 i don't think those third parties are keeping up once we get to the Xbox Helix PlayStation 6 and devs are making games for those I don't know if those games are going to be able to make the jump to Switch 2 I don't know if we're ever going to live in a reality where Nintendo has that parity consistently with the other platforms as far as those third party games coming out and being good enough you got plenty of time there's a lot of games already coming to the Switch we saw the Nintendo Direct last week there's a bunch of games happening right now so if you are IO Interactive you have some grace here to hold off give it the best possible product and re-release later on right that is the right to do polish it and like here's my thing if you can't get it to work cancel it like if if the game's gonna come out and it's gonna be fucking butt get it out of here it's gonna be like the mortal combat game was it 11 that came out and ran like trash then just don't it's okay we don't have to release a broken product if it's if it's not working i hope it i hope they get it there They got the time and the space, though.

55:05They have a hit on their hand with First Light. So it's not like this is make or break. Yeah. They're doing well. They're doing pretty well. Yeah. Mike, if Double 7 First Light can run well on the Switch 2, that would be huge. I would be impressed. That would be a big win. But if I wanted something smaller, say the tiniest news I need to know about, where would I go? Bless that. Take you to our last story, the We News channel, where we cover all the small news items you need to know about.

55:28Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Story number six, We News. From Virginia Glaze at IGN. street fighter is coming to apex legends on september 22nd bringing its high kicking action to the first person battle royale with special skins a decked out poi a wild card takeover and more kev there's a trailer in here if we can show the people because what are we doing here i like it but i'm also like who's this for i like both of these things and i'm not really running to play the street fighter apex class just money and collaborations big dog yeah this deal comes in you say hell yeah let's go street fighter is capcom right yeah capcom's capcom's hot right now i mean they are hot right now capcom is hot right now he says what's up with blessings about today first of all don't you worry about my mouth oh second of all i think it's just dry i don't know oh i don't know it's tough for me to speak today i don't know what's going on i thought you've been doing great i thought i was doing all right also but fucking joe doyle and chad had something to say about my mouth do any of these skins say i gotta buy this bless you you like apex I know you probably haven't played Apex in a while, but like, would you come back to buy any of these skins?

56:33No. Okay. But I'm also not the kind of person that's out here buying cosmetics like that. I have self-control. Yeah, but you saw Sora. Fortnite. Yeah, but like, I don't know, that's fine. He looks good. I mean, he looks great. He looks good. I'm happy for the people that are super excited about that. Sora holding an M4, though? I'm not ready for that, but I'll see it. I think I'm just past the skins thing. I think crossover cosmetics just don't, like, they don't excite me to that level where I'm like, oh i want to spend money i think we've gotten so much of it over the last 10 years yeah that i'm kind of over it is that crazy i don't know yeah blessings video game therapy yeah he's over the crossover i'm over the crossovers it's been too many crossovers i'm numb to it now from andy chalk

57:15Blessing Adeoye Jr.:at pc gamer bungie is changing how it updates marathon going forward saying it is quote moving away from a strict seasonal schedule to give the team more flexibility to build test and improve features before release. As a result, the content plan to launch as part of this month's seasonal refresh has been delayed into December and will be preceded by a small update in October that resets progression and the in-game economy refreshes rewards and improves the live game. I'm really interested in this. I want to say I like this because we're seeing a number of development teams now that have been on the live service grind try to stretch that out a little bit instead of just the three-month seasonal content have to have it have to have it they're trying to push the walls out and say hey like that timeline is a little tight for us to nail what we want to do or what we need to do we need to start pulling that back we've seen that with a couple of developers now in their games i'm thinking of halo did that of course these are also games that are like kind of towards the end of it where the end of content yeah i was gonna say when you say halo infinite and that that's the scary part that's why that's why i'm interested i don't like it but i'm interested because can you make this work right can you get off the very rigid three month cycle and be able to prove to your audience that like hey we need more time we respect you and you being a consumer and we want to deliver the best or are we in the world now where gamers are like mike right with a simple small mind going no i need content now and i expect content to keep me interested in your game your world to keep me buying or else i'm going to fall off and go somewhere else, right?

58:51Because that's going to be the game they play. There are games that are going to deliver the content, keep the constant updates, and I'm going to go over there and play because I feel like I have something fresh, something new when they're doing that. Or is it the game that I'm dedicated to and love and I can give the grace, the blessing, the developer and go, take your time, deliver me something awesome, I'll be there, right? Because we know the start of the game, here's your peak, and then we're just slowly dipping down the player base every single day, month, week, whatever. I don't know what this means for, I mean, Bungie and Marathon and Destiny.

59:25I think we all know where that's at, right? But I am interested more on the live service side with developers. And does that work? Yeah.

59:33Blessing Adeoye Jr.:We shall see. We shall see. From Gamatsu, FutureLab has announced Powerwatch Simulator 2 downloadable content pack, the Barbie pack. It'll launch in late 2026 for$8. I love this. That's great. Yeah. I love the amount of variety they have in their content packs for Power Watch Simulator. Because you never know if they're going to do SpongeBob. Or Barbie. Or Barbie. That's crazy. Or Final Fantasy VII. Or Star Wars. Yeah, yeah. They're doing it all. It's like, I love how whoever they have on their team that is responsible for partnerships and licenses, good on you. You're really good at this. Good on you.

1:00:11And also shout out the game being so good, having such a dedicated audience that they can show up to these large corporations and say, hey, let's have a partnership or them coming to them and saying, hey, I want to partner up with your game. We like what you're doing. Yeah, it's awesome. And Barbie, I think it's such a good pull because, like, again, we're talking about a gaming audience that is so diverse and has so much of a variety of people playing. I feel like Barbie being a big collab here can bring in somebody that goes, oh, wait, that looks cool. Like, I've not been paying attention to Power Wash Simulator, but I grew up with Barbie or whatever.

1:00:44Like, let me check this out. I mean, I'll say it again. It's got to be the number one simulator game. The 9 to 5 simulator game. I think it's Power Wash. Yeah. It goes number one. Oh, for sure. Yeah. There's a couple afterwards, but I don't think anyone's coming for the throne here against Power Wash. And then last one. Put it back on the meta. You know? Put Power Wash 2 on the meta. On the meta? Oh, on the meta. He's talking about the headset. Oh, they took it off? no they never did power watch simulator 2 on that gotcha oh yeah do that i'm sure all 10 of y 'all are playing it there uh and then war dogs hits 2 million sales in five days and that is it for we need a lot of energy around that game man i was doing a stream the other day uh this is when i was playing hobby was infinite rush and people were like bless you know about war dogs and i'm like no and they're like it's the biggest game of the month and i'm like have you seen this month and now I'm looking at it and I'm like, it might be the biggest game of the month.

1:01:39One of the biggest games of the month. One of the biggest games of the month. There's, we talk about it all the time, there's the dedicated shooter audience that is excited and wants more gameplay. They want something fresh and something new and something like this comes around where like it's got the motion, people are going to jump on it. So like what do they got that Battlefield doesn't? They have this weird in-game economy that kind of makes it fun and interesting where you're selling supplies slash buying supplies And also Battlefield is just old now Like I love Battlefield People want that new new Yeah people always want the new new It's a short term memory It is what we live in today with the I don't know hyper online society Where everything is at your fingertips Battlefield had it's moment Battlefield is still very very good don't get me wrong But in this kind of market I'll speak from experience It will always be a 3 to 6 months Give me something new now On to the next one On to the next one.

1:02:35Blessing Adeoye Jr.:That is it for Wii News. Let's hop into Super Chats before we get out of here. Aaron Lime says, I see devs hitting Switch 2 more than jumping to higher-end consoles like PS6 and Helix because Switch 2 is cheaper, so more people are buying it for the third parties and Nintendo first parties. And I'm not mad at that perspective. I could see that as well. I think the tough thing is when we get there, what is the demand, right? Like when you have a game like 007 First Light that is trying to hit that high bar as far as fidelity and you know making something that feels very triple a and it comes out on ps5 and xbox series x or in the case of the future right a game that comes out on ps6 and xbox helix i think those games are going to be really tough to port down like over time yeah like that i think you're going you're going to experience that power gap somewhere and it is tough to create a game that looks incredible on that highest end on what maybe they want this with the uh xbox helix to be versus what you're able to do with the switch too like i just think there's going to be a gap that exists there and that's not an easy thing to cater to both of those at the same time the same game it'll be a tough dance i think gameplay will always be king right of like the gameplay of james bond is fun if you were looking for that help hitman stealth espionage there are moments in james i'm gonna be like wow this looks freaking beautiful they killed it on that that you might not get on the switch but if the game is fun to play it'll always be good yeah like that's going to be the catch there i think the tough thing is that part of what what makes that game i think fun to play is when you're in an environment that has a million npcs and they're all like walking around party and you're in the club level and all the lights are flashing and all that stuff and you're sneaking around into these big crowds i the tech I think is has more to do with generating all of that as opposed to just generating the visuals like I think you can make a slightly uglier game put it on the switch too and make it pop off in some cases in this case I'm like can the game still be fun if you're not able to do all that and I hope they are like I hope that I hope they they're able to pull it off I think part of it might just also just be the manpower of making a port that works as best as possible um let's see here yuki writes in and says one of those people who wants third party on um switch two not in the market for the other consoles so it's my only chance to play some of these games yep and i totally i totally feel that like i know there's a large market of people that only have a switch two i remember talking to somebody in there and this is like years ago they were like oh yeah i'm a big harry potter fan i came for hogwarts legacy and i'm like oh do you have a console because i didn't view them as gamer really and they're like no i have a switch too that i play like two games on i'm like oh snap yes like there's definitely an audience out there that wants third-party games and i think there's a big market for that and they'll get a good marketing push if things hold true who knows a lot of great games out there but let's say if 007 is able to get into the top six of jeff keely's game awards that's a great way of like december hey game of the game of the year nominated come to you in march 100 aaron lime says get marrow on the gta 6 radio that'd be a fun one yeah either deezus or marrow um darth anslow says i'm gonna read this because he super chatted it in uh blesses for the latinas shout out bad boonie is what yeah dude fuck yeah jbc says new weekend song for gta 6 when i could see it weekend weekend yeah oh yeah weekends on it original song oh he makes his he makes an original gta 6 song bruno mars in there yeah yeah bruno mars might be a character rick ross ricky rose no you don't think rick ross music will be in this i mean what what has rick ross done for me lately i feel like that dates the game you got every damn hustling yeah but what year was that mike yeah but it's still good i mean it's still good it is still good there's a lot of great artists out there yeah but like i mean might they put every day i'm hustling in the game yes because they got pop bottles in the game so yes but like new rick ross or rick ross radio no no ella langley we're talking country music i don't know anything about country music i don't know anything about ella langley you don't know but no i barely know anything about morgan wallen i don't like saying the name though i'm scared i feel like when i say i feel like there's something about saying that name out loud that evokes a dark, evil energy, and I don't know why.

1:07:04I don't know anything about him. He's not the best of jabronis. He's got killer country music for people who like country music. He's not the best of jabronis. Is it like the kind of country music that's like you know, don't come into my small town? No, it's the modern country music. Don't come to my small town. It's the same thing. Don't they all do that?

1:07:27Yeah, I don't know. I want this is what I want because there's something that hit different about all my exes live in Texas I'm telling you if we can get an old school country radio I'm in well they're gonna have a mix of both there will be new school and old school I hope I want I want some of that old school country it felt old school back in JTA San Andreas now it's gonna be real it's gonna be vintage by the time it gets man the mamas don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys I mean they

1:07:54Blessing Adeoye Jr.:were singing um link legend says sounds like rockstar prepping for a radio reveal 100 yeah i think i think that's something that'll be a great marketing rollout it's like the progressive reveals on of what what's on the soundtrack what do you do you put out the whole soundtrack on a spotify playlist do you have all you have six spotify playlists for each radio station before the release do we get to see every song in the game before really i don't think you do i don't you reveal a lot of the hits i don't know how you do it though if you do it as a spotify playlist you have to actually partner with spotify like in a bigger way you have to be on the spotify home page you do what you did with netflix in fact now i'm saying it out loud 100 six minute youtube video yeah of just driving and exploring the cities but every time they step into a car new radio station every time you cut new radio station with a new song that could be two and a half minutes i don't want to show six minutes of like just driving around be too much there's something here to collaborating with spotify and also yeah doing that thing spotify also is their video now maybe you get the gta six pod official podcast and it's like you click into it it's something that you could listen to but it's also a video that you can podcast in this um i think it's like talk radio wctr yeah okay but maybe i don't know our casts are big now maybe it's like a button that you hit in the in the car that's like all right turn off radio turn on podcast you have like three different podcasts that you listen to they recorded seven minute podcasts like just yeah long enough where it feels very long by the same time you look at it's not long it's not that long yeah tv and movies similar what we saw on high on life yeah yeah but like somewhere you sit down and like really see oh yeah i think you're gonna have stand-up specials you might get john marco up in there you might probably not john marco you're probably gonna get like what's his name bill burr a bill burr special okay yeah oh but i don't know about that but really i don't know man i don't think they had cap williams in gta 4 yeah bill burr might not even be big enough you might get dave chapelle in there but i think of gta 5 it was like just images on the screen there wasn't much they had the the theater i'm looking for like a high on life situation where it's like you know you could just sit down there and they just have tv playing for nine hours straight like that's what i'm looking for i mean you might not get nine hours worth but i think i think you'll have watchable tv that's gonna be wild yeah um okay we got a few more super chats i'll throw in here slightly sausage says wonderful to meet greg and mike at blizzcon i'm the guy whose son is an overwatch coach i have been a fan since game scoop and i'm heartbroken about altano he and greg were a special combo shout out to that guy shout out Shout out to Slausage and his son, Overwatch coach.

1:10:41Congratulations to him. Wow. Very cool stuff. That's really cool. Yeah, we're seeing a lot of local high schools and colleges get into the e-sports scenes. And, of course, that means there are different kind of jobs and new entryways for people to be involved. And, yeah, his son is an Overwatch coach, which I think is pretty wicked awesome. That's really cool. Could you coach an e-sports team? No. No. I was going to say maybe like a Tekken thing, but I shouldn't be coaching Tekken. I'm not good enough to be coaching Tekken. I feel like you can throw me in. Any game. Yeah? I'll go in there blinders.

1:11:14And you'll coach it? I'll coach them. Put me in the Nexus. Put me in the Rift. And I'll coach a legal agency. This is like when we said we can land planes without any training. No, you're not coaching them. Could my coach an Overwatch team? I could coach an Overwatch team. Put me on there. You know what? Maybe you could. Because I think you do have a level of like. I'm just going to hype them up. I might not know what I can do. You bring a level of hype and energy, and you're just going to yell at them to work with each other. I'm a motivator. I think you'd be a great assistant coach. Thank you.

1:11:41Okay. Or maybe you could use an assistant coach who actually knows the game. You need to be paired up with somebody who knows tactics. That's my— You and Andy together. I'm Lasso. Yeah. That's Beard. Yes. Beard is the one who knows the game. I'm just there giving them the one-liners. I think Andy is your beard. Andy.
