2:10Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Today's gaming news stories include Schreier and Miles' voice actor contradict each other on the Venom game, Valve launches the new Steam controller, and Crimson Desert gives every employee a$3 ,400 bonus. We'll have all this and more because this is Kinda Funny Games Daily.
2:33Blessing Adeoye Jr.:yo what's up welcome to kind of funny games daily for monday april 27th 2026 i'm your host blessing adelaide jr joining me is the master of hype snow bike mike bless what's good good to see you morning how are you today doing well how are you doing i'm feeling good on monday we've had a jam packed day already. Oh, yeah. Soros Gamescast plays. A review of the Steam controller and now you and I. Have you gotten to hold the Steam controller? I have not. They won't let me touch it. I got to touch it for half a second. Tim gave me his. You know how Andy and Tim get. They're very protective over the tech.
3:06I was holding it for two seconds.
3:07Blessing Adeoye Jr.:I was feeling an energy from Tim of like, I should give this back. Let me get a hold of it. You might get this reference, Mike. It was like I was holding the ring from Lord of the Ring. I was like, oh, Tim wants this thing back. He wants this precious. He starts to look at you a little sideways. Yeah. When like we were at home, Andy was like, yo, like you got to check this thing out. And I got to cradle it. I got to, you know, just like feel it all. And, you know, there's the there's a level of trust between us with that. I like that. I like that. He doesn't have that with you, Mike. I'll be in there eventually.
3:36I'll get in that house. Not even the controller. Just I'm gonna get in the house. Blessing. How are you? Are you ready for MagicCon this weekend?
3:44Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Oh, I'm so excited for MagicCon this weekend. I can't wait. That's great. I'm looking for, hey, if y 'all are going to MagicCon, let me know, because I am trying to do some, like, sealed, limited things. I have a bunch of Magic cards, because, of course, Wizards is so kind as to send us new sets of cards whenever there's a new set coming out. And so, like, I have a box full of the Avatar cards, and I have a box full of the Lorwyn cards. And I have enough to do to run limited. so if you're a kind of funny listener if you love this podcast or you want to hang out with me for a little bit at MagicCon blue sky at me, like holler at me because I want to make that happen I want to use these cards and I want to hang out I can't wait for you, but that's going to be a big deal dude, come through I might make bad financial decisions do it me and you haven't been to MagicCon in Vegas yet I know that's what we wanted to do and you're going to go for me for this one and then we'll come back even better the next time but I'm very excited about it Nothing's holding you back.
4:43How are you feeling today, though, Bless? Everything else is all right? I'm tired.
4:46Blessing Adeoye Jr.:I am a little bit hungover. Okay. But I'm trying to hide it. Oh, is this why you brought up Martoonis at Martinis? Yeah, right before this, I brought up Martoonis. I was hanging out at Martoonis last night. Let me tell you, Martoonis might be the spot now. On a Sunday night? On a Sunday night. I like that. Yeah. What were you up to last night? I was playing Lord of the Rings Two Towers, one of the all-time greats on the PSU. You were playing it. Yes, yes, yes, yes. Now, did you ever play this game, Bless? No. This would be a fun one for you because, of course, I, like many other kind of funny best friends, have caught up in the emotion of the new in-review series with you, Joey, of course, Nick and Andy, re-reviewing the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
5:23And that brought me into, well, I should play the game.
5:27Blessing Adeoye Jr.:I got a question. Can you play as Gandalf in the game? Maybe. It's Aragorn, it's Gimli, and it's Legolas. Those are the three main characters. you know what he might be playable in one section of the game but i'll tell you what bless this is the all-time greatest yeah this is one of the all-time greatest movie tie-in video game series okay but like how is it better than shadow of mordor because i love shadow okay well shadow of mordor is 10 years later in a whole nother video game yeah yeah i'm thinking about my top 100 right now okay maybe shadow of mordor is on the list shadow of mordor needs to be on the list Maybe South Park Stick of Truth.
6:03Blessing Adeoye Jr.:You're reminding me of 2014 now. Oh. Because 2014, not a great year overall in video games. Okay. But shout out Mordor and South Park the Stick of Truth held it down that year. I need to revisit that. Let me tell you what. This game holds it down, bless. One day you're going to play this game, you're going to fall in love with it. It's fantastic. So you're playing as Aragorn Gimli and Legolas? Yeah. Are you doing bow and arrows? This is Legolas and you're using the swords. He's got the double swords. Do you get to shoot bow and arrows? Yeah, he shoots bow and arrows as well. He'll shoot some arrows as well.
6:29He's about to pick some up right there. Are you switching in real time between these characters? No, you pick one before every mission. God, Gimli's so short. And so, like, this is those classic beat-em-up games on the PS2 that you always loved. And, yeah, it's just a classic movie time. Has all the Fellowship and Two Towers in this. Fellowship and Two Towers. Oh, really? And then they have a Return of the King video game. That's pretty sick. Get you ready for it in review.
6:53Blessing Adeoye Jr.:This reminds me of The Warriors, actually. Oh, yeah. Even though The Warriors was more of a prequel for the story of the video game, but it was also like you know a beat-em-up style of game that was surprisingly good and so oh yeah there's Gandalf yes Satchao says Mike this was on the PS2 I know I was playing it on my PS2 last night oh you busted the PS2 went old school that's cool that's really exciting Mike but enough about that all right we got a whole lot of video game news to talk about so let's talk about it remember if you're watching live you can be a part of the show by super chatting in over on youtube.com slash kind of funny games remember we couldn't do this without our producers over on patreon.com slash kind of funny so thank you to carl jacobs omega buster and delaney the psalm twining for now let's begin with what is and forever will be the roper report it's time for some news we have seven stories today a baker's dozen you know i'm gonna watch return of the king today i'm very excited about it really really excited about it i'm happy that you went on this journey bless You've seen all the movies?
7:57Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Of course. Man. And all y 'all have seen these movies and none of y 'all told me about Gandalf. That's crazy. Gandalf, man. Gandalf is the coolest. Gandalf, that guy. He's that dude. He was whooping Balrog. Okay, so you saw that. I saw that. When he said, you shall not pass. Well, yeah, that was the first movie. I saw that part. Well, I'm trying to remember. So that means the second movie starts and they're falling in the hole. Okay. Oh. That's what I'll never forget the sound of that fucking monster screaming at the start of the movie. Yeah. you'll never forget that so good that was so good i made a comparison i'm very happy about during the last in review if you've not been watching the in review that we've been doing for lord of the rings like we started with fellowship for nick in review and we're only going to watch fellowship we all enjoyed that in review so much that we've pivoted and we're like we're watching the rest of the trilogy fuck it and so we've shifted plans you know i was supposed to watch eight mile with nick this week but we're doing that later change they always do plans change but uh on the last in review, I made a comparison because Gandalf reminds me of two people that are very important to me in my life.
8:56Blessing Adeoye Jr.:He reminds me of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Okay. And he reminds me of Goku in two different ways. Listen to the in review when you hear me talk about it. Unfortunately, those are two jabronis I don't really know much about.
9:12Blessing Adeoye Jr.:I got Barret in the back. I just started to cackle for Barret from that. I can teach you about both later. Okay, cool, cool, cool. Both pretty cool dudes. I like both of them. Story number one, Spider-Man Miles Morales actor talks about that missing Venom game. I'm reading from Lewis Parker at Kotaku. For years, a standalone Venom game seemed like an obvious play for insomniac games. Spider-Man 2 includes an entire... This is spoilers for Spider-Man 2, by the way. I assume everybody knows this. If you don't know this, then that's kind of crazy. Spoilers for Spider-Man 2. Spider-Man 2 includes an entire level where he's playable, and the studio already established its willingness to ship smaller spinoffs in between tentpole spider-man sequels despite references to the project leaking and hacked insomniac files back in 2023 a venom game has yet to materialize miles morales actor naji jeter addressed the confusion around the project in a new interview well let me give you all an exclusive jeter told content create creators love it film via insider gaming quote we're gonna have a venom game we're gonna to drop a Venom game and a Venom DLC, but we lost Tony Todd, he continued.
10:23Blessing Adeoye Jr.:They showed me how it was going to start. They showed me how everything was going to be. It was going to be a Venom video game. Y 'all played the Venom playthrough. It was just going to be a Venom video game, end quote. Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, however, contradicted Jeter's version of events in a comment on Reset Era, quote, this isn't true, he wrote, regarding the actor's account of the project's cancellation. There's a little confusion as to whether Schreier means the Stay Alone Venom game is still happening, or whether he specifically meant that the reason for its cancellation is incorrect.
10:55Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Although I'd wager it's the former. That's because the Insomniac game hack in late December 2023 revealed that the studio had been working on the Stay Alone Venom game for quite some time before Taz passing. The leak even included one tentative roadmap for the game to release in 2025. there's a whole lot to dig into here mike what do you want to dig in on this one bless because yeah there's some stuff to kind of touch on honestly i think the more i think the most interesting part of the story for me personally is jason schreier saying that's incorrect incorrect about what bless you know i think that's what i'm trying to dig into here i think for sure he's saying the game exists and it's happening that hey this isn't fully canceled this will be yes hitting the finish line at some point.
11:39Yes.
11:40Blessing Adeoye Jr.:That's how I read it. And Jason, I think Jason is smart about the way in the ways in which he interacts and says things. I think he knows what he's saying when he says that isn't true, or he knows how people will read it. If he says that. Okay. I do like that as well. Bless. I think this is one of those. When I look at insomniac and we start to look at the roadmap of what's next, right? We know Wolverine is right around the corner this year, but then what is the followup to that? And I think with the foundation that you have and what we know of, venom the game right and like the goal of that it would seem like that's the next logical step is there will be a venom game out here of course losing the actor is very unfortunate probably puts a massive obstacle in your way to try to figure out how do you honor them how do you finish the game with or without them what do you do next right there's a lot of question marks there but with how much of a foundation you have with spider-man one two miles morales i think the next logical step is yeah you would probably lean on a venom game maybe it's a little bit smaller or easier to make for your next project to be the big one.
12:40But I do think that, yeah, when you read it to Jason Schreier's treat here, it's like, yeah, it's probably not camp.
12:46Blessing Adeoye Jr.:And there's a chance maybe he's not, maybe he's talking about like, oh, no, it didn't happen like that. So my personal impression up until now was that the Venom game was not happening. And that comes from me having a source from years ago, right? And so like when Najee, when this news first broke out, and it was Najee talking about it on that show, I was getting ready to come on here and do like, and I told you so. Like, I've been trying to tell y 'all that this game's not happening and that you can't take leaks as gospel because plans internally change all the time. Like, video games get internally canceled.
13:21Blessing Adeoye Jr.:The amount of video games that have been worked on that you never knew about that didn't come out is endless. Like, that happens all the time. So you can't take leaks as gospel. But yeah, I also just heard that it wasn't, this game isn't happening. And so Jason saying, actually it is, or not saying, Jason saying that's incorrect, which could mean it is happening, which could mean his retelling of it isn't fully true. Maybe you got canceled for a different reason or whatever. Right. Like I just find that truly fascinating because I think it should happen. I'm surprised that when you look at Spider-Man 2 and the gameplay section that you play as Venom, it feels like it would transfer so naturally to a spinoff game.
14:05And a Venom video game coming out, let's say, two years after Spider-Man 2 would be such a slam dunk.
14:14Blessing Adeoye Jr.:I think you put Venom on the box, you just call it that, boom, you're selling copies. You're not worried about burnout? Maybe people saying, hey, I do want something different, right? Do you think that the in-between of Wolverine will give this a bigger boost if Venom does come out? Were you not worried of like Spider-Man 1, Miles Morales, Spider-Man 2, and now into Venom of people going, hey, we've had four in a row now of this. This is a lot to take in. We'd rather have something fresh and new. I don't think so. I think the Venom gameplay would be so different. I think you would make it anything where you just don't involve.
14:46Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Spider-Man might appear in a scene or something, right? But you make it fully about the Venom game gameplay, which is way more brawler, way more heavy of a character. You give it a different flavor. We're also talking about a time where video games take so long between releases. I think I actually go the opposite where I think if they could, they'd release these games back to back to back to back yearly. You know what I mean? Like, I think the fact that video games take so long is more of the struggle as opposed to them coming out too frequently. So I think the dream would have been to have had a Venom game out.
15:16Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Who knows? Tony Todd's passing could have had a thing on that that could have delayed the game that could have really fucked up their roadmap. Maybe it leads to them canceling it. But, yeah, I think the Jason comment is the thing that makes me go, oh, interesting. Yeah. There's still hope. So you said, you know, maybe you have some inside information here and maybe your thoughts are a little bit different now. Why is that? Is it just because of the weight of Jason Schreier? Do you think you still see this canceled? Where do you fall on this? Well, it's a couple things, right? One, I don't have multiple sources.
15:49Blessing Adeoye Jr.:I'm not somebody who comes out and talks about what I know because I'm not a journalist in that way. Don't report on my words. Do not take my word as gospel as well. I only talked to one person who would be in the know that told me, yeah, this isn't happening. Maybe he's wrong. You know what I mean? Maybe plans change. That's why I look at Jason because Jason knows his shit. I look at Jason Schreier as a way more credible, like, okay, well, you probably know five people. If I know one guy, you know five people that might have told you something that has, you probably have a more updated story.
16:20Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Because also what I heard was years ago as well. So now the question is, is it, that isn't true, meaning it's not canceled and maybe we will see this or that isn't true. The reason why they canceled it isn't because they lost Tony Todd. Maybe it is, hey, we didn't like the foundation of the game. Maybe we wanted to go a separate way after Wolverine. It will be interesting. Like you said, Bless, you have, like I brought up, you have the foundation of all the Spider-Mans. You would think that this would be a quicker process of making the game. It would be a slam dunk, right? Hey, here's a large DLC.
16:51Here's a Venom standalone. Maybe it only takes two years, three years to make. We can get this out the gate faster. Like, that is the best business move around, right? But, yeah, are people burnt out on that? Would people not vibe with a tankier Venom game? I like Spider-Man to be a little more agile, right? My worry is I'm going to fight a bunch of goo monsters, right? Like, all of a sudden, now we get into the Venom situation. You would have to keep it tight. It's going to be a lot of Venom goo monsters that you're going to fight. Is that what you want? What's the story? Be very instilled. That was something I was thinking about as well.
17:23That is such a cool set piece moment. But I would be interested to see if after a couple of years of trying to build off of what they built in Spider-Man 2 for Venom, maybe there is a possibility that they looked at it after a couple of years and they're like, it's hard for us to find the fun in designing around this character.
17:42Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Sure. yeah also i apologize i accidentally killed tony hawk tony hawk's alive oh shit my bad it was i misspoke not the man i was hanging out in martuities last night you know give me some space yeah you know give me some grace here um but yeah i think you're to make the venom game it would have to be tight i i would look at it as more of a miles morales type thing where campaign might be five hours with challenges or something right like five hours plus whatever other content you throw you throw in there maybe in trying to figure that out it is the bare thing of realizing oh shit okay well this is actually harder to put into a full game and maybe that's where you get into the burnout of it of like all right the more we make this game the more it might just be spider-man or more it might be like oh okay yeah we have you just mowing down these enemies and maybe there's not enough challenge like you know you're right that making a set piece section is way different from building out a full game but i do think if you can figure out a full venom game it doesn't have to be a 20-hour experience could be a miles morales kind of spinoff kind of thing i think there could be something there that's really fun and i hope we see it i think that'd be fun with the loss of tony todd how do you handle that i mean like that's a tough part right it's like yeah how much did they record with him how much do you have do you have enough how do you now move on if that's not enough right what do you do that's probably a massive roadblock in their way right now but i do agree bless if you're the captain of the insomniac ship it goes wolverine into venom which brings you back into the spider-verse world another time and then what's after that i don't know but that would seem the logical one-two punch here yeah i mean here's the other thing is that i think insomniac is at such a they're they're not hurting for projects you know what i mean wolverine is out this year you're gonna make spider-man 3 the again not taking leaks as gospel but one of the things in the leaks was that they're eventually gonna do x-men you know what i mean and i think that makes sense to do the wolverine game and then eventually get around to doing x-men that could be really really cool um between all these things like you also have ratchet if you want to get back into the well you could also do maybe your own another new original thing like the options are too many right now for insomniac to where i totally understand if they get far enough in a venom game and go ah this isn't working it's probably an easier thing to go all right well let's let's focus on a wolverine then and then let's focus in on spider-man and let's focus in on the things that are working for us and you know maybe sideline venom for now marvel spider-man 2018 marvel spider-man miles morales 2020 uh 2021 ratchet and clank marvel spider-man 2 2023 and than Wolverine 2026.
20:24You're coming at that a great cadence that we don't often see from other developers, right? And there is the worry of like, well, if you cancel Venom, does that put a giant roadblock of like, now we're waiting five years for the next insomniac game. That would be unfortunate. Or they have something in the middle as that stop gap to keep this great cadence up.
20:44Blessing Adeoye Jr.:I would, I would have to believe that Venom is not a big full fledged, like$70,$80 video game, right? Like it would have to be something a bit shorter, but yeah, I would hope not. But also even with that, their cadence is still better than the other PlayStation studios. That's a great case. You know, even if you have like a five years between Wolverine and the next thing, like when was, when was Naughty Dog's last new game? 2019 brother. We're in 2026. That's a long time. Technically 2020. Oh, you're right. Sorry. I said the pandemic, you know, Martoonies last night. Were there any good singers last night?
Read the full transcript
21:25Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Oh, all of them. There's always fantastic singers. Oh, yeah. That's the whole thing. So it's a martini bar that's also a karaoke bar. That's why they call it martini. I would have thought they were dueling pianos. But not. They do have a piano, though. Yeah, that's the thing. It's like you're singing with a live pianist, not like a track or something. A live what now? Pianist. Oh, that's crazy, Barrett. That's crazy. You know what I said? Yeah. Is that how you say it? That's it, Barrett. You nailed it. That's crazy. No, you nailed it. You nailed it. I'm fucking with you. Pianist. See, now you're just fucking with me back.
21:57Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Oh, man. Say it one more time. Pianist. Oh, man. That's crazy. Let's bring in some super chats real quick. Samson XP writes in and says, birthday tax for my cat Misty's 18th birthday. So cool for Greg to share a birthday with her. Happy birthday. 18 years. Good for that cat. Good for that cat. It's a long life. Aaron Lime writes in and says, put out another Miles Morales-sized game. I don't need a Spider-Man 3 or Venom. Just something small. We need more short, tight experiences. You give me Venom that size, we're in. Yeah. And then follow that up with Spider-Man 3. Yeah. Now we're cooking. SpotDog writes in and says, birthday tax, spending my birthday the Greg Miller way, watching KF and playing Persona 4 on my Vita.
22:38Hell yeah. Could you go half and half? Like, say we have that smaller sized Venom. Yeah. And we looked at it and we go, hey, that's good. But, like, maybe we want to make changes. Or, that's so good, let's add it on. let's make it the first or second half of a spider-man game and make it the bigger project
22:55Blessing Adeoye Jr.:because of how spider-man 2 2's story went i wouldn't want more venom in spider-man 3 there's gonna be oh yeah just give me a separate venom thing i thought you would go first half the venom story second half spider-man saves the day i think that venom mark was pretty much done in spider-man 2 right yeah i think we're really done yeah i thought the end had something different going on i forget it's it's one of those like the way they interpret venom and like how they do it in this universe it is very much like okay this specific character in this universe is venom or like what turns into venom yeah i think that character's story is done and so from there it's like i don't to me what they're building up to in spider-man 3 which isn't really a spoiler uh because they've been building up to it since Spider-Man 1, is finally Green Goblin.
23:49We still have not gotten Goblin yet. That is the big story, not Venom.
23:54Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Definitely move on from Venom and Spider-Man 3. Because also, I'm not the biggest fan of how they did Venom and Spider-Man 2. So I'm like, hey, we tried it. Yeah, they were uncommitted. They tried to do two different interpretations and boiled into one, and it wasn't. It was fine. That might be the conversation there. It's like, maybe the team says, we don't like what we did, or we would like to move on. You know, we'll see. um gary the third says bless i'll be there for magic on let's draft hell yeah okay we'll keep that in mind gary the third hit me up on a channel so i don't forget like a blue sky or something so i don't forget you um let's see lilvia 1990 says i'm going to magic on next year can't this year so you guys mike and bless uh better better show up do a meet and greet and sign some cards maybe hell yeah that'd be fun we'd love that uh how do me and you we'll talk about this more but we're Magic influencers.
24:44Blessing Adeoye Jr.:We need to become magic influencers. I want to see the lights. You know what I mean? I want to be on the stages. Me and you. We want to play Commander. Playing Commander with all the cool people. I want to play with Gavin, the creative there. I like that. Yeah, he seems really cool. I want to do all. I want to play with Aaron and Ify. Yeah. Battle them. Play Brian and David Gilbert. What if we become the two-headed giant bros? I like that. Get your homie. We battle. I love that. Me and you, we got to grind for it, though. We got to work for it. We got to make some more magic content. Caesar writes in and says, birthday tax for me and Greg.
25:18Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Keep up the good work, guys. Love y 'all. Happy birthday, Caesar. Happy birthday, Greg Miller. Greg Miller birthday party later this afternoon. He's going to play Starfield for a long time with all of you. There's like rumor he's just going to hang out in the office all day and night. Wow. Got a great opportunity to hang out with Greg. ScienceDogOfficial says, while that you had to be told about Gandalf, TBH, and Harmon. Here's the thing, because I knew of Gandalf, but I just thought he was an old guy. You see Gandalf? off to gray and white yeah radagon who's radagon okay that's yeah that's eldery radagast i'm trying i'm trying not to spoil it for him but isn't there another jabroni out there oh wait oh are you talking about like radagast oh okay i don't i don't know him okay i thought you're talking about we'll learn about him saruman just saruman yeah he's out there yeah he's out there yeah i'm also just i think no matter if anybody told you about gandalf bless you still would have just looked at a picture of him and been like yeah this old white dude like really like you yeah you just you had to see it to believe it i didn't realize he was moving like when he first fights saruman i didn't realize he was moving like that bro he's crazy and then he fucking fist fought balrog oh man i'm glad that you're watching these movies oh gandalf somebody says blessing Gandalf is an MTG give me the card somebody give me the oh bring card to magic on yeah uh but all right we're gonna move on because we have a lot of news left to cover um and so we're gonna get there but before we get there I want to get you to go to patreon.com slash kind of funny uh and youtube.com slash kind of funny games where you can get the kind of funny membership which allows you to get shows ad free and speaking of ads let us tell you about our sponsors

30:36Blessing Adeoye Jr.:and we're back with story number two arguably the biggest news of the day but we also have a whole news of the day day i like day day i mean that's a new segment what is it uh valve confirms steam controller price and release date and promises more news on the machine soon yeah of course we had a full games cast right before this which was the review of the steam controller uh tim got his hands on it roger got his hands on it they let me touch it for like five seconds and then tim gave me the look yeah they let me look at it from across the room they just they held up like this yeah and i looked at it like oh that's cool tim kept calling it as precious as a whole thing it was weird um let's read from wesley yenpool at ign valve has confirmed the steam controller price and release date while promising to announce news on the hotly anticipated steam machine soon steam controller launches on may 4th priced at 99 we also have regional pricing 149 canadian 99 euros 85 pounds 149 australian 449 poland in a note to ign valve said quote pricing varies by region due to distribution costs import duties slash tariffs and market conditions end quote here's the official information on the seam controller direct from valve here's some highlights you got a high performance ergonomic controller next gen magnetic thumbsticks with tmr technology full-size controls trackpads grip buttons grip enabled guy Gyro?
31:59Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Gyro? Gyro. Gyro. Gyro you eat. Hero. There you go. You're nailing it. The grip sense comes with a cool puck. The puck serves as a wireless transmitter for a fast, stable connection, and it's also a charging station, which clicks in magnetically to your controller. Battery life is capable of supporting 35 plus hours of gameplay. Steam controller will be available on Steam in the following regions, US, Canada, UK, EU, and Australia, as well as Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan through an official distributor, Komodo Station, in those regions. Steam Controller officially launches worldwide on May 4th at 10 a.m.
32:35Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Pacific time. While we have a release date and price information for Steam Controller, Valve is yet to date or price the Steam Machine or Steam Frame, which were both announced alongside the Steam Controller last year. In an interview with IGN, a head of the Controller News, Valve programmer Pierre-Louis Grefez promised more Steam Machine news soon quote we don't have exact details about the timeline to share today griffes said and we're hard at work on trying to get them out the door i think we're definitely expecting to roll out some news soon about that but in general i think things are going well end quote but he insisted the steam controller stands out on its own and that while it will of course work well with the steam machine when it finally comes out people who just want a new controller to use on their pc will be the primary audience we want to quote we want to make sure that we can get it get it into their hands as soon as possible as soon as it's ready uh basically without having to wait for any other factors there he said quote but in terms of steam machine yeah it's really just about the logistics of getting it into users hands i think if you use the steam deck docked the experience is pretty much there it's that plus some more gpu horsepower of course there's a ton of polish and other feature work that we can do but at the end of the day the core experience is there and the key thing is that make in the key thing uh that is making it not launched yet is really just about the logistics of finishing it up in terms of supply and getting it into users hands okay it's your little steam machine update for you i'm really excited about the steam machine the steam machine yes bless of course i mean hard new hardware is always exciting especially from such a team as valve right like that is taking it over the top of oh wow what are they going to do next after the steam deck it's like oh okay i'm all in like you showed me what you could do let's see what's going down here what about the controller i'm excited for controller too i want to get the controller um i think a hundred dollars a hundred dollars for all the features that we're talking about here actually seems like a pretty decent price for it um i'm yeah i'm trying to get in get in on those pre-orders.
34:39Blessing Adeoye Jr.:What about you? Are you excited for the controller? Half in, half out. I'm just the person that doesn't need a new controller at this moment. I have a lot of controllers lounging around the house so it's like, I don't really need a new controller in my life, but like, when mine does eventually break down Xbox Elite Series 2 controllers, they break down quite often with me. Then maybe I'll be ready to have a conversation. What are you doing to these controllers? Shoulder buttons break, the rubber grips on the grips, always come loose. It's just the problem my dual sense edge rubber grip is on his last legs and so yeah i'm just not ready at this moment to be like i won't be at pre-orders on may 4th no i won't be ready for that okay um but later on maybe i see it a couple more times on andy's desk maybe i mine breaks and i'm ready for a new one maybe i'll jump to it but as of right now i have a good rotation with the xbox elite controller that i'm kind of happy with where i'm at i just i like new toys a lot yes that's the thing i really like a new piece of hardware so i think i'm in for that what about the new all the performance stuff are you in for this for the controller you need yeah trackpads are cool um especially if i'm gonna be playing these games off my tv i actually think that's essential uh for pc gaming on the couch the trackpads are pretty big um the gyro gyro gyro i'm gonna get that right one day you nailed it the gyro i think is really cool as well um andy talks up gyro all the time because he tried it with splatoon and i think it changed his world i want to be there as well i think there's when i i was watching uh the video of the games cast i wasn't listening because i was prepping kftd but i saw the part where he was showing off the gyro and it looked so precise and so accurate yeah um and so that's big big for me as well the puck being the wireless thing i think is cool as well like all all of this seems neat yeah yeah can you explain a little bit more to the trackpad to me on why it's so important because if we're going into steam pick big picture mode yeah the goal is to replicate what consoles do on the big screen and i never have a trackpad on my console controllers i just slowly type in the letters on any sort of like search bar sure why is the trackpad so important over that for games that don't support controller so you can emulate you're going fake mouse and keyboard on it like that yeah that's what i've done before that's what i've done on the steam deck yeah that's why they have it on the steam deck as well and i i think the way it feels it it does feel natural to like bring your thumb down and to then use that as a mouse uh especially for like maybe not even for games that don't fully support controller but also just like menu stuff as well like yeah um for stuff that has menus that are mainly mouse on pc and all that like i even little things like that i think it could really help with yeah i played inscription on my Steam Deck.
37:20Blessing Adeoye Jr.:I used that full trackpad and it changed my world. It was so nice to just use my thumb. I never used the trackpad on my Steam Deck. Never ever. I like the trackpad a lot. So having that on an actual controller for a PC hardware device I think is actually going to be pretty key. Let's move on to story number three. Crimson Desert has sold so well that developer Pearl Abyss has reportedly given every employee a$3 ,400 bonus. I'm reading from Wesley Yenpool at IGN. Crimson Desert has sold so well that Pearl Abyss has given every employee $3 ,400 as a bonus. South Korean publication, MTN, said Pearl Abyss had awarded staff with a 5 million won special bonus to celebrate Crimson Desert selling over 5 million copies.
38:06Blessing Adeoye Jr.:The CEO, Jin Young, reportedly said in an internal statement, I express my deep respect and gratitude for the hard work of each and every one of you who created a product that the world is enthusiastic about. And I am paying a celebratory bonus for achieving 5 million sales to all employees who have silently fulfilled their roles in their respective positions. Our journey does not end here. The potential we confirmed today will be the most powerful driving force to overcome any challenge we face in the future, end quote. MTN said that latest official figures put Pearl Abyss at 733 employees, which means the total paid out for the bonus is 3.7 billion won which is approximately 2.5 million dollars apparently it doesn't stop here either with another bonus due at the beginning of 2027 based on 2026 financial performance pretty sick it's very pretty cool yeah you don't hear that often there bless huh 2.5 million dollars in payouts fantastic news the game is selling well You celebrate with your employees all their hard work.
39:14They're passionate like crazy.
39:15Blessing Adeoye Jr.:So many of the criticisms that people had at launch, it seems like over time they're fixing it. Still doesn't seem like a game that's going to speak to everybody, but that's okay. Games speak to different people in different ways. But they're supporting it pretty well as far as I can see. Oh, hard work with a lot of updates. I'm in the place where I want to get back. I'm still waiting just because a lot of games coming out. I'm entering back into my fighting game mode. Invisible Versus is coming out later. I picked up Dragon Ball fighters had to rebuy it because i owned it physical i didn't realize that i'm playing strive so yeah i'm in that mode right now but i'm getting i'm gonna get back crimson desert before the end of the year just to try it out i like that just fuck around well i mean just a breath of fresh air a piece of positive news that you don't hear often in the game space yeah like good on them and that's very great this is great for employee retention as well like i think this is gonna make people go oh snap i'm gonna keep working here like i like for you know day after day after day we talk about layoffs we talk about studio closures we talk about conditions in the video games industry not being the best for employees this is how you turn that around this is how you create a uh a base of a base of employees that ride with the company and make you go oh damn all right like i feel cared for at least a little bit here so and excited to see what the future is yeah what's next for them where will they go if if tomorrow we released a video that got like a million like tomorrow's ktd got a million views and greg walked in was like i'm gonna give each of y 'all 3 400 what are you spending it on a new steam controller i don't need this thing i don't want this thing you know what i'm gonna buy that chat i lost my steam controller
41:03Blessing Adeoye Jr.:jesus let's move on to story number four christopher mcquery correct me if i'm saying that wrong um michael b jordan are to tackle an adaptation of battlefield this is from boris kit at the hollywood reporter as the week comes to a close this from the end of last week i should say the groundwork is being laid for what could be the biggest bidding war of the year and it's appropriate enough for Battlefield, the military video game which last year topped the sales charts. And if the title wasn't enticing enough, it comes with some of the biggest names in Hollywood. Christopher McQuarrie, who has spent the last dozen years guiding field operations for Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible movies, and Michael B.
41:46Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Jordan, who last month won an Oscar for his performance in Sinners. McQuarrie is attached to write, direct, and produce a feature adaptation of Battlefield, the military video game from EA while Jordan is attached to produce and possibly star depending on several factors. I'm going to pause there and say, Michael B. Jordan, you better star in this. This is going to be a smash. The only way to say that right now, do you think it's going to be a smash? This is going to do. We're going to talk about this. This is going to be a smash. If you get Michael B. Jordan to star in this. Okay. But you need to, he's in it.
42:18Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Yeah. You need, but also just Christopher, depending on who's, I think plenty of people can do it. Yeah. But it should be Michael B. Jordan. And you need him to go through whatever Tom Cruise training. Strap him to the side of an airplane. Yes. Let him go. I need a Bakuki Jordan to method. Spend a year with Tom Cruise. Have him train you on the Tom Cruise wave. Not the Scientology, though, but the cool action stuff that he does. Okay. Okay. I need it. But to get back into the article, this hot package is currently before studios who are already marshalling their interest. Additional producers include Jesse Stern of EA, Curtis Wan of Eberle Neon, Roy Lee and Mira Yoon of Vertigo, and Elizabeth Raposo of Outlier Society.
43:02Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that McCrary and several other pitched studios and streamers such as Apple and Sony Thursday, um, wait, let me say that again. They pitched studios and streamers such as Apple and Sony on Thursday, I see, with other meetings occurring on Friday. Those involved are prioritizing a theatrical release, so it's unclear if netflix will be on the meeting list it is unclear when bidding will commence but studio business affairs execs better grid their loins for this one it will not be cheap talent costs will be one thing but even getting rights to the game will be pricey yeah mike this is gonna be a smash yeah i guess i'm just a little apprehensive at both this and the call of duty movie right of just being another war movie i guess call of duty to me there is more iconic characters that i can be like oh yeah you'll have soap right you'll have ghosts you'll have these characters that like i can see on the screen and go i get that right battlefield not the biggest story driven game around yeah they've had stories they've had vignettes i think you'd have to lean into like bad company to make it be like hey here's your group we're gonna identify that with them but i don't think the casual audience goes here's the four most iconic characters ever in Battlefield, right?
44:15Sure. So my worry goes like, oh, this is just going to be another generic war movie with Battlefield, Bad Company written as the title.
44:22Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Here's my thing. Two things, right? Yeah. Firstly, gird your loins. I was going to say you said, yeah. I think I said grid. Yeah, you said grid. Because I said it and I confused myself. I was like, what the fuck does that mean? Gird your loins is the phrase. Secondly, I think you say fuck story. I think This needs to be Fucking Top Gun Maverick Whatever the story is Keep it as simple as possible You make it all about the execution Of the action and making people That's why this needs to be a theatrical release You need to put This on the biggest screen and have people in the theater Go wow This is cinema Not because the writing is fucking deep Not because there's a story it's because you're there for the action set pieces get michael jordan in the or michael b jordan in the school of tom cruise and let's make a hit y 'all counterpoint what's up bring my boys back mike knows what i'm talking about bring my boys a company a company like if this is going barrett this is where we lean to right but i do agree with blessing like when i think of 100 when i think of battlefield right it's just big gigantic set pieces where i'm playing with my toys in the sandbox and i'm making awesome epic moments and yeah battlefield the recent game had some of that in some of its campaign story right there was like some really big bombastic moments where you're like wow that would be wicked on the big screen if this was a movie that i could see you turning it into right but yeah it is just normally private military company goes rogue we gotta stop them we just collide all that fuck all that i think the it's actually funny that this is going to be based off of battlefield because i think the final product is probably one of the ones of like what battlefield is this yeah i think you're gonna watch this movie and go what when did this happen in the game i don't think you're gonna get any of that shit maybe you get bad some bad company shit and it ends up being fun in that way but i think when adapting battlefield i'm speaking as somebody who's honestly not that big of a battlefield person i like playing the latest one with you guys right but i didn't play it like that i think you do some revolution you blow up some big buildings and go hey that's battlefield isn't it like that's that's the touch point here but what we're getting down to is big action fucking big set pieces we're blowing shit up and mako b jordan is jumping out of windows and doing crazy stunts that make us go wow i like that cinema i mean i'm with baron on like the bad company side of like make it feel like the a team right these four kind of hooligans yeah in the middle of some gigantic war decide to go a wall to spend gold for themselves and it's fucking awesome so it will be interesting to see So let's say Malcolm B.
47:03Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Jordan stars Which I hope he does He's a star A plus on that If they're doing a team of four Who's alongside him? Who do you cast?
47:16Glenn Powell's in it I like it He's red hot right now I'm trying to think like
47:24Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Give me Damson Is it Damson Idris? The dude from F1 Okay Oh I like him I like Alan Ritson Thad Castle Oh okay We love Thad Castle here Okay Big bulky dude Kind of need a burly guy You need a Draxon the Destroyer For jokes Batista? Yeah Oh Alan Ritson being your big guy I see You need him Okay Yeah I like that I need a badass female Badass Who? That's what I'm trying I'm trying to I'm racking my mind right now My friend just went ScarJo Fucking shit My brain went Zendia. So, like, we're both off. Oh, man. Maybe Ana de Armas. Who played Pharah in the video games? That's Call of Duty now. Pharah?
48:11Oh, in the... Yeah, Call of Duty.
48:14Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Ooh. Somebody says this sounds fucking awful. Listen, we're not... This movie's gonna be awful. No, this movie's not gonna be awful. A Call of Duty movie and a Battlefield movie are not gonna be good movies. They have the man behind Mission Impossible fucking producing, directing, and writing it. It's going to be good. And Michael B. Jordan's attached. This is going to be awesome. This is going to be fun. All right? This is going to be fun. Everybody strap in. Put on your seatbelts. It's going to be a great time. Here's the deal. Y 'all are counting him out. Battlefields at his... This is Christopher McQuarrie, who is his name I didn't know how to pronounce, but he's only made peak.
48:53Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Except for the last couple of Mission Impossible movies. A couple of them. Yeah. The recent one was really good. But the bar was really high, though. The bar has been really high for Mission Impossible. Both of these movies, I'm a Call of Duty kid. I'm a Battlefield dude. I love both of these games to death. I would love to see my favorite games get put up on the silver screen. We've had this conversation before. I watched Master Chief banging Alien. Okay? I'm all in on this stuff. And so I want these both to succeed and be great. I just know they probably won't be. and so i'm a little worried about that that's all i'm on i'm on his imdb oh all right okay so he did mission impossible right pretty much all the all these these latest ones he did uh the screenplay for top gun maverick yeah amazing you know did he do the mummy sure for the you know the 2017 the movie movie the screenplay yeah he did edge of tomorrow i feel like that was a good one right edge of tomorrow solid that was a live die repeat one yeah yeah he did jack the giant slayer never heard the screenplay for that oh he wrote for jack reacher and then we get into a bunch of oh i did usual suspects wrote usual suspects 1995 that's sick that's a great movie let's get real it's a great he has a great resume here do we see this get to the finish line yes yeah well here's the thing because they're talking about how expensive it is going to be it's going to be for the license that's the only thing I can see getting in the way of it may be a should be happy to sign this over yeah yeah right now should be happy to make a movie like EA and try to ride the high for sure is doing a happy dance yeah Chris McQuarrie and not gonna be Jordan this signing should be a pretty easy one for EA they should look at him like man we've been in the fucking dumps lately we have finally got a win let's try to keep some good momentum with battlefield layoffs we try to hide the layoffs and not talk about that yeah like let's just try to ride this win you know michael b jordan's on it you sign that this is gonna be i'm gonna make a pizza bet right now right here right now all right this movie's coming out and we're all fucking with it all right we're gonna all watch this movie and go damn i like that this might be one of the best ones one of the best video game adaptation leslie i love you after a night at martoonies because This is not you.
51:18Blessing Adeoye Jr.:This is not you. I think we're going to watch it and be like, wow. Battlefield. Who would have thought that it would have been a banger movie? I mean, I like Barnell. Are you taking this bet? Yeah, of course. Thanks for the pizza bet. Thanks for the pizza. I just want pizza. I mean, you just want pizza. Let's put it down there. Maybe not one of the best ones. But I think we're going to be like, oh, that was really good. Okay. I like that. I already shook the bliss. I like that. But I'll stand by it. I stand by it. Start number five. Star Wars Galactic Racer release date has been seemingly leaked on Steam.
51:47Blessing Adeoye Jr.:We can just pull up the Wario post here. Yeah. Which, full promo image. This is the most red-handed. They're ready to rock and roll, baby. So, yeah, this went up. Wario 64 spotted it. The leaked release date is October 6th, 2026, according to Steam. And, yeah, everything in the Deluxe Edition has been revealed. This is awesome. I mean, yeah, unfortunately it got leaked and it's out there, but like, this is great. I'm excited for this game. Barrett, if you'll rock with me for a minute, I wish this said May 6th, right? I would rather enjoy May the 4th into, of course, Mandalorian and Grogu this month.
52:26Like, I would rather have a big Star Wars May than wait all the way till October for this game. Like, I am kind of like, oh, I wish this was like sooner rather than later. Because I'm about to be in a Star Wars mood. Yeah, but like, they don't usually, like we've talked about this before whenever we watched the many seasons of Mandalorian and all the other shows. It's rare for them to do something on actually May 5th as a release thing. I don't know. May 4th? Yeah, May 4th, sorry. May the 5th be with you. Yeah, and also if this said May 4th, it'd be like oh shit, this is a Shadow Drop coming next week.
53:06Yeah, you're putting this out next week. That's next week. like yeah um i think october is a fine enough uh spot for it you know uh especially you know granted even though there haven't been movies lately like uh you know something for the holiday kind of season you know going into the end of the year yeah i'm excited for it either way but
53:23Blessing Adeoye Jr.:yeah i don't really care how long do we have before gta 6 to play this gta 6 is november right okay that's enough time that's yeah that's more than enough time for november 19th yeah i can't wait for this allegedly i'm very excited for this game i think i'm gonna get it to say i'm I'm going to get the most out of it that I can. I'm going to enjoy it. I'm going to have some fun. I think it will be the other Star Wars game that was the pilot game that I enjoyed for a couple of days. Star Wars Rogue. No, Squadrons. Squadrons, yeah. This will be a Star Wars Squadrons, Florida. You get out as much as you want out of this game, and that's going to be about it.
53:56Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Sure, but I think this will be way more easier to get into than Squadrons. Squadrons was like a surprise. Like, oh, shit, this is hardcore. This is a sim right here. Hardcore flight sim. Yeah, hardcore flight sim. Whereas I hope this game brings the stuff in terms of fun racing gameplay. This is low key, probably one of the biggest racing video game years in a while. When you look at both like, yeah, Forza horizon six coming out, you got this. And then screamer also came out for like, for the Mies of the world. Pretty good, pretty big year for racing games. And so that's really exciting. Big year for racing games.
54:28Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Yeah. Mario cart was last year though. Oh, sure. I was like, damn, Last year was the kart racing game. Because we got Sonic Racing Crossroads. Don't forget. And Garfield Kart 2. What? Kart racers coming out this year? No. I'm thinking of the Nickelodeon tennis game. That's what I mean. I still hold strong. You will get a mini Watto, a little Watto keychain, or some sort of dance thing on there. You have to. That's what you'll get. Do it for us, John Drake. We'll see. Someone was asking what does this mean for Zero Company which is like the Is that a XCOM type Star Wars game I don't think that will come until Next year We're getting This leaked over the weekend So I'd imagine like the Actual announce for this is probably Coming soon right and we still haven't Heard like really any big update Like we haven't really gotten any big marketing beats For Zero own company and i don't think you put that out this year like in november or december right and if like if it's coming before october i think you would have already started marketing it so that's uh that's my vibe i feel like that's one that may maybe next week uh i don't know okay i don't find out yeah we'll see that feels like small enough of one because i feel like that that game's marketing has been weird to me where i feel like they're treating it is like sliding this thing out.
55:59Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Like a really cool Star Wars XCOM-like game. And it's like, I forget how they announced it, but I feel like the announcement was really low-key. Zero Company did a big preview with PC Gamer last month and still said 2026. Oh, there you go. There you go. But back to the classic Greg Miller thing with Persona 5 all those years ago. I'll believe it when I see it. Let's close out with story number six. We have a new teaser for the Alien Isolation sequel. um do you mind pulling this up we can just scroll through it also i don't know if we need to like sit to do the thing sorry but it's it's a video game 25 seconds yeah oh is it oh then play it 25 seconds it's gonna be lit man this is the alien isolation sequel teaser
56:55You're going outside.
56:57Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Oh, is that what that... You're going outside. Okay. Does this do anything for you? I mean, yeah. The idea that we're getting an Alien Isolation 2 does things for me. That's cool, yeah. Does this, the casual alien fan stomach mic, get anything from that? No. It was a door that unlocked, and then I saw the outside, and we went to a payphone. Why'd you release this? Just let him know. sure let him know but like are we even in like pro like promo season for this game what is this game coming out could this be a jeff keely summer game fest it could be mini trailer trailer because like sure we're only a month away from jeff keely's event man we're a month away from fuck you're right we have all yeah we just have may to get through we're right there y 'all so like could this be a hey we're building this up so in june we show you more but i feel like if that's what this is then maybe just tell us also like see you in june or something no no no no this just let you know we're alive because now i look at this and i'm like this is random you go to your twitter account you're like is this thing still on that's all this is i mean it is nice to hear from a creative assembly yeah like yeah we're we're still doing shit you know yeah it's gonna be lit though oh for sure oh man had the dream you ready for this plus i've been i've been promoting this for a long time okay okay the people who made um tripwire entertainment who made my favorite shark pg man eater yes i wanted them to continue on with that and make cocaine bear okay think about you're in a national park you're the bear high off cocaine mauling animals people anything you see okay you're just okay then thrash came out thrash the shark movie i said man i love deep blue sea what if i got a deep blue sea movie but then the shark is hunting you like alien in isolation.
58:47Blessing Adeoye Jr.:I'm not gonna lie, you lost me somewhere in there. You said a lot. Those are some swerves. This shit could be lit. Okay, alien isolation underwater though. Yeah, alien isolation underwater with the shark chasing you. I could never play that game. I have too big of a fear. You know what? They just had a game very close to that. Remember the one on the oil rig? What was that called? Oh, yeah. The Descent? No. No. Still Wakes the Deep? Still Wakes the Deep. No, wait. Did I nail that? I think you nailed that. Okay. I think you nailed that. Imagine something like that kind of vibe. Boom. Shark is chasing you.
59:17I don't like it.
59:17Blessing Adeoye Jr.:It's too scary. I love it. When I played Mario 64 as a kid, there was the, I think it was called Jolly Roger Bay. It was the water level, the first water level. They got an eel in there. That big eel. Oh my God. I think that changed my brain chemistry when it comes to underwater scary things. I can't do sharks, bro. It was just the dead eyes. You ever played Subnautica? No. No. Don't play Subnautica. I never will. I could barely play it. Like, Outer Wild has a freaky creature in it. That was tough for me. um mike alien isolation that was a big trailer we got quite big that was quite big but if i wanted something smaller yeah say the tiniest news i need to know about where would i go plus i take you to our last story the we news channel where we cover all the small news items you need to know about story number seven we news from games industry.biz benoit richer has left ubisoft to co-found Servo Games, a new independent studio based in Quebec.
1:00:14Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Richard announced the move on LinkedIn, where he also confirmed his new role as game director at the studio. He was previously the game director of the upcoming Assassin's Creed title, Codename Hex. Oh! Hexie. Okay, well, first, congratulations. Best of luck to you over there. Congrats, yeah. The game director of Codename Hexie. Yeah. Yeah, the Assassin's Creed Hex game, yeah. That's not good. The witched one that keeps losing directors. Yeah, don't love the sound of that for me. Black Flag will fix it all, don't worry. What's the vibe on that? Good? Yeah. We're back. Yeah? Yeah. Pirates, man.
1:00:50I know you hate them, but like, pirates are fucking cool.
1:00:53Blessing Adeoye Jr.:You know, I never did play Black Flag because I just don't really like Assassin's Creed. Interesting. This is like Assassin's Creed peak to me. Then it's starting to slowly go downhill, but there's some wins. But like Assassin's Creed, you talk about peak. It was like Black Flag era was like, oh my God. I would try it. I know this is like a fan favorite. So yeah, it was also just one of those. Like we were riding the high off of two and brotherhood and we kind of stumbled a little bit with three. And then we came back with four. It was like, holy shit. Nice. And then we did rogue. It was like, ah, this is fine.
1:01:26Unity. And then it was like, faces were gone. Then they got syndicate. They did syndicate. And then we, and then syndicate came out and nobody played it. And it's legit. Still the best Assassin's Creed game. No one wants to admit that.
1:01:37Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Then they were like, let's make RPGs. And they put out origin. Odyssey. And then we got some of the best performances in Assassin's Creed Origins. Shout out to it. See, that's a video game that they put out too much of. They're putting out so many Assassin's Creed's, but also I applaud the fact that they're able to keep some level of quality aside from that time where they were. They're making a lot of money. They're making a lot of money. There wasn't as many video games back then as well. Yeah, that's true. We were getting thousands of video games a week back then. That's true. Yeah. from IGN Square Enix has announced plans to bring Final Fantasy 14 to Nintendo Switch 2 this August.
1:02:16Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Wow. This is an interesting one The Switch 2 version will require players to purchase an additional separate subscription. Oh, yeah Well, hold up. Isn't the hit MMO Final Fantasy 14 now free to play? I think for up until a point There's a whole meme about it. Yeah, there's a whole meme, but the meme says I think certain expansions or something Put the meme in there give me the meme chat i thought it was free to play and so yeah if it's subscription service free trial free trial yeah i mean it's an mmo yeah you gotta pay for this come on you think michael if this was free not many mmos can do that anymore only wow could do that at a certain point a lot of mmos died because they tried to do that yeah hey good for final fantasy 14 they're making that money uh there's more here quote after discussions with nintendo it was decided that the switch 2 version of ff14 would require a separate subscription yoshi p said via translator again this was decided after many months of discussions with nintendo and i understand that this is different from how we've done things before and quote that made us stressed i mean stressed it is shifting blame like not a good look for us right now yeah however thankfully yoshi p said that they were able to make some concessions a switch online membership for example will not be required to play ff14 on switch 2 additionally those with active subscriptions on other platforms will receive a 50 discount for a sub on switch 2 so there's that so we don't have a price on this um i mean it's whatever the membership is okay yeah as of right now the positive is final fantasy 14 is coming to switch 2 yeah but there will be a separate subscription for this i guess that's true that could be a different price yeah because like i'm just trying to like where we are because they're saying if you have Final Fantasy 14 you're already paying a subscription we'll give you 50 % off this subscription to play on Nintendo as well because it's clearly not being bundled certainly it's the same price as like the existing subscription no I would assume it's less my guess is it's less I think it's coming in less than $10 a month and if you bundle it with your other Final Fantasy 14 subscription or if you pay for Nintendo Switch online no no forget about online I bet you it comes in about$5 Okay So if you're already paying$15 a month for$14 Now you pay$20 You can have your Switch 2 version as well If you don't, you pay$9 Now why do you think it's less?
1:04:45I don't want to call it an inferior version But maybe an inferior version I mean that's fair, okay Also like, you're trying to welcome players in On that platform now I wouldn't want to be hitting them with a$15 to$20 monthly charge when I'm trying to get them in.
1:05:01Blessing Adeoye Jr.:I think it's going to be the same price because I think this is entirely a Nintendo issue. I don't know what Nintendo's deal is, but maybe they're taking a bigger cut. Okay. You know, maybe they have some, maybe it is, maybe a version thing, but it sounds like from Yoshi P, he's shifting blame in a way that makes me think this is entirely discussions with Nintendo. There are some guidelines they have in the fine print that doesn't allow us to share that subscription. Additionally, those with active subscriptions on other platforms will receive a 50 % discount for a subscription on Switch 2. So to play on PS5, PS4, Windows, Mac, and Steam, monthly subscriptions are$12.99 for the entry.
1:05:43Standard is$14.99. So, yeah, that's$15 there. You come in at$10. That's nice. And then as well, if I'm a diehard fan already on whatever and I want a half off, that's five dollars more. That puts me at 17 less than 20. Stay under 20 or I'll have an outrage, you know. Saw that with Xbox. That's true.
1:06:07Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Stay under 20. This one, this next one is from a press release. People Can Fly announced the acquisition of the Cooldown Games brand and its publishing rights and will establish a dedicated publishing vertical within People Can Fly's operating structure. so that's one to keep an eye on okay sony is raising the prices of ps5 ps5 pro in the portal in southeast asia um mean of the hollowware has officially gone gold come on nice let's go nice we're getting that game someday soon have they announced they didn't announce a date no we still don't know anything and it's gold apparently they're ready to rock when is that when are we getting that though summer game fest shadow drop but wait that's a month from why would you tell us it's gold if it's a shadow drop because they gotta announce it's gold yeah you have to you have they don't have to announce it's gold it's a rule even though it means absolutely bat shit nothing yeah that's true i'm excited yeah you ready to jump into that one yeah a lot of i like the preview a lot a lot of good love yeah for that one power watch simulator 2 star wars pack has been announced you see this you can hang out that star this looks sick come on I mean, this is a May of the Fourth drop.
1:07:16Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Hold on. What's Darth Vader doing that he's letting this place go like this, though? He hasn't visited in a while. It's like when Nick Gregg and Tim leave and we're just in charge. But it doesn't get dirtier when they leave. If anything, it might be cleaner. Someone's got to clean it. You think Darth Vader's the one spending the time dusting? But, like, why is it this dirty, though? What happens? Don't worry. If I'm Darth Vader and I walk through the hallway of the Death Star and it looks like this, I'm force choking somebody. I'm force choking everybody. Why did it get this dirty? I'm going Nick Scarpino on you, motherfuckers.
1:07:50Blessing Adeoye Jr.:I don't know why I used Nick as a reference there. I just imagine if there's anybody in this office that would go insane from it being this dirty, it'd probably be Nick. Is this a May the 4th drop? Ooh, yeah. Yeah, I think so. Yeah, next week? Why not? Come on. EA Sports has revealed UFC 6 cover stars Alex Pereira and Max Holloway. those are names i hear in the sport captain majima content for sonic racing cross worlds will be available on april 29th okay and lastly the shadow update for ball x pit is available now and that is it for we news um barrett question how far are we into the show because i realized that i'm not we're an hour and six oh okay uh let's knock out a couple super chats for you kumababam said uh oh it writes in with a candy fund for for me thank you oh that's nice you've been eating a lot of candy lately oh no i'm trying to eat less candy i was gonna say yeah this isn't good is that for the the hangover does candy help hangovers they gave me a candy fund earlier too remember oh just a little candy fairy coming by thank you disgruntled monkey writes in and says would love to see a mild length game with venom building up to the introduction of carnage carnage needs to make an appearance listen i'm not there's there's a conversation around that but i don't want to get into spoilers we're already out of the spider talk okay just so many spider-man villains that everybody wants to see what a balancing act yeah but he has so many too you gotta you gotta identify which is the ones that people want the most who do they want to see who do they want to play as what's the most deep cut spidey villain we can get into one of these games i guess we already have what's the girl that that's the social media obsessed thing in the first game.
1:09:31Oh, shit. With the really annoying side quests. Yes, with the side quests.
1:09:36Blessing Adeoye Jr.:I feel like the fact that we got her. We were already deep in the bag. Screwball. Screwball. I don't know if you're getting deeper than screwball. Who's the doctor who turned himself into a pterodactyl? Vulture? No, that's Vulture, who we saw in the first game. You're right. We saw Vulture already. I'm sorry for the sass but also not at the same time that's fair Dr. Dactyl Dr. Dactyl get the wheel in there there's no way his name is Sauron there's a wheel guy hold on is there really a Spider-Man character named Sauron that's crazy you can't do that big wheel a man in a giant wheel tank where'd you learn about this I typed in most random Spider-Man villains.
1:10:29And then Chris Sanka also wrote it in the chat.
1:10:31Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Can I tell you, I'm looking at this image. This looks like the most annoying boss fight of all time. He could fly through the city and you could have to chase him down. This looks like a boss fight that I would absolutely despise. And I can't tell you why. This looks like a sick armored core fight, though. Oh, for sure. Yeah. Man, we should play armored core. I missed that game. That was a fun one. They need to get on that. Make another one, yeah. Tekkero 2, another armored core. Let's get on that. Maybe Bloodborne. What do you mean maybe Bloodborne? like they're just they just got so many games they gotta get to you yeah we'll get elden ring too i hate that miyazaki's only one man we gotta clone him uh find familiar games writes in with the super chat says great shirt bless you kf are all invited to free no all invited for free oh i see all invited for free to familiar con 2026 we mean it come play magic with us may 29th through the 31st in Mount Vernon.
1:11:22Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Oh, search familiar con to learn more. KFBS also invited, but we'll have to pay. There you go. I have a wedding to go to, but I appreciate the invite. Mount Vernon, Ohio. Might go to Ohio. Hang out. Mount Vernon. It'd be cool to see Ohio once. Their index writes in and says, I wanted to give a huge shout out to all the KFBS who have been checking on me and sending me well wishes while I've been recovering from mono and pneumonia. Love you all. Get better. Get better. um aaron lime says not confident about a battlefield or call of duty movie the guys up top saw that war going on right now and said we got to juice those recruitment numbers oh sure yeah you know that goes propaganda um and then christopher 21 says play still wakes the deep now i didn't i didn't realize we had still wake the deep fans in here oh yeah come on rep your set uh let's hop into kind of fight.com slash you're wrong where you write in let us know what we got wrong as we got it wrong so you can correct it for those watching later on youtube and listening later on podcast services around the globe um jeppo i'm gonna tell somebody to figure out a way that we can blacklist your name on the you're wrong why you're out here misusing it every single time blessing will you be with mike in a danganronpa game don't don't give him the gratification don't give him the gratification he does they do this every single day.
1:12:46Jepo, you got a super chat or something. Just type in the chat. This is for when I mess up and you're trying to keep Snowmike Mike honest and fix the show. That's what your wrongs are for. Kebabs wrote in with like a million. Kebabs got a thousand wrongs. Kebabs is going crazy if you're wrong. Kebabs is on it right now.
1:13:03Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Kebabs says the two towers only lets you play as Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli. Gained off is playable in Return of the King alongside all four hobbits. I don't care about that. Your plan is all four hobbits? I don't. What are we doing? pippin you want to be playing as pippin the only pippin i want to be playing as is scotty pippin in nba street like let's be real come on man come on nba jam scotty pippin with mj i don't know if scotty pippin's in nba street he must be though right i don't know if he is i don't think so somebody you're wrong that let me know scotty pippin's in the nba street i don't think he is um somebody says no way kabob says you can get dragon ball fighters ps5 version by popping in the ps4 disc oh well that wasn't the thing that's not the deal not the thing i had to buy it because i had i was playing on my ps5 pro which doesn't have a disk drive and also i just wanted it digitally so i could play it on everything um and so that's why i bought it and it was on sale too so and they added super saiyan 4 gogeta to the game as a new character i'm still looking for the best fighting game story mode that's not mortal kombat or injustice because i've already played those Tekken has a really fun one this recent Tekken yeah you think I'd really like I think you'd like it it's not like the best thing in the world but it's fine I just want to play a fighting game story mode for a stream or two parents give me a look you're sort of for Rita all to X I mean listen the worst thing to recommend to Mike um well kebabs wrote in with what I just said they also added Super Saiyan 4 Goku from Dragon Ball dima yes yes that's why that's what i just said um let's see kebab says the phrase gird your loins refers to pulling up one's skirt and trying and tying it up so it doesn't get in the way of your legs in combat it is thus equivalent to roll up your sleeves preparing your clothing for hard work i never would have thought that yeah i thought that meant cover your balls yeah same yeah yeah I would have thought it was like, you know, protect your nuts, you know, guard your loins.
1:15:09Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Yep. All right. I think that's it, man. I think that's it. Oh, here we go. Blanket Four says Power Wash Star Wars DLC is coming summer, not a May 4th drop. Okay. So that's actually a really good year wrong. And that is it. We got to do better at dropping stuff on fun dates. I think things are just hard. You got to lock that in. It's also just like, why put so much weight on fun dates? We don't need to. It's fine. Let things come out when they're ready. They keep putting stuff out for N7 Day, Barrett. That's been 20 years. What, a fucking image? An image? It's like a jacket. Last of Us Day. N7 Day?
1:15:47Oh, yeah, another coffee mug for Last of Us Day. Cool. It's fine, man. We don't need to put so much weight on these fucking days. These made up. These made up. It'd be better.
1:15:58Blessing Adeoye Jr.:We're going to shift everything, all of our plans around. Let's get our marketing. He's made up gamer holidays. I'm tired of them. Let's get something better. Mike, that is it for this episode of Kind of Funny Games Daily. What do we have going on after this, Mike? We have more content. Kind of Feudy. Do we? Oh, yeah. It's Monday. Nope. We switched Kind of Funny Podcast and Feudy. So Feudy is tomorrow. Kind of Funny Podcast is today. Well, the buzz is wrong. Is that what the buzz says? No, maybe not. You're going to get the OG4, though, together for the first time in a long time for a kind of funny podcast.
1:16:30I know a lot of people have been asking about that.
1:16:32Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Yeah. And you're going to get your wish. Yeah. Greg Miller doing a birthday stream. Playing Starfield. Playing a lot of Starfield. He loves this game. Yeah. Every now and then you'll look over at his desk and he's just playing Starfield. He really is. And you're like, there's 4.5 billion video games out there. He's playing Starfield. Surely you have an email to reply to. At his desk in space talking to, what's his character's name? Taylor Swift. Andresia. Andresia. Becky Lynch he's talking to Andresa just gazing into her eyes and I'm like I know you have emails bro he loves it that's it for kind of funny games daily I can't talk I'll be playing Guilty Gear if you love what we do support us with the kind of funny membership on Patreon or YouTube to get our shows ad free and get a daily exclusive show enjoy everything after this and until next time game daily
