1:41Chris Kerr:yo what's up welcome to kind of funny games daily for tuesday february 17th 2026 i'm one of your

1:47Tim Gettys:hosts blessing addio jr joining me is the master of hype snow bike mike bless good morning homie

1:53Greg Miller:Thanks for having me on the show. Always good talking video games with you. How are you?

1:58Tim Gettys:I'm doing good. Woke up at the appropriate time. Went to the gym. Didn't do as much as I wanted to at the gym. Got after the gym even in the rain. Even in the rain. Oh, the rain's not going to stop me. No, the rain's not going to stop me. Ain't going to stop him. No, no, no, no. Made a protein smoothie this morning. Okay. So I'm like, I'm following my routine. That doesn't always happen where I do all the things that I want to do. One day after another, you got to keep it going.

2:19Greg Miller:That's good. How are you doing? I'm a little pooped. I stayed up late last night. I got on the treadmill myself late last night. Yeah. I'm trying to find my time. Back in the day with you, it was in the morning. Now it's about the window from 11 to about 1 o 'clock is my time. 11 p.m.? Yeah. To 1 a.m.? That's my time where I can give you an hour to get on it.

2:41Tim Gettys:Then how much sleep are you getting? Because if I go to the gym in the evening, I get home and I'm awake. I can't just go to sleep after the gym.

2:49Greg Miller:I mean, this is what wears me out, which is good, because I don't get any motion all day. So I need this to wear me out. You know what I mean? But no, it's all good for me. Okay. It's just like I'm going to stay up until 2 o 'clock in the morning anyways, Bless.

3:00Tim Gettys:I mean, Bless, man. I mean, I guess you're usually in here by games cast of the stream. So I guess you're not always here for KFG like I am.

3:08Greg Miller:I'm a 10 o 'clock guy. Oh, okay. So that actually kind of lines up.

3:11Tim Gettys:I can see that.

3:12Greg Miller:I can see that. That's my time. But I'm feeling good, Bless. It's a little rainy outside. Yeah. I got a trip. I'm going to Oregon on Thursday. So if you're looking for me out there, Portland, Kevin, A little heads up for you. Looking for pizza. And I'm going to the Rose Garden. Oh. The Rose Garden. Now, it will be raining and snowing, but I'm still going to try to go. You're going to go to the Rose Garden in the snow. I mean, you have to, right? It's like, what are the top ten things to do in Oregon and Portland? I don't know, but the Rose Garden's on it. Fair enough.

3:40Tim Gettys:Fair enough. I played a game last night. Tell me. I played a couple games. I played Mario Tennis.

3:44Greg Miller:Tell me, how's the Mario Tennis grind going? I got to A - rank.

3:47Tim Gettys:You go right to rank.

3:48Greg Miller:Did you play? Yes. Do you warm up or do you just say, I don't need a warm up?

3:51Tim Gettys:I don't need a warm up. You're ready to warm up. Mario Tennis is second nature to me. I played so much 64. It's just in my veins. It's in my genes. Locked in character and racket. What do you do? Mario Shadow Racket. That's the one that clones me. Perfect. Yeah. Not adjusting at all. Not adjusting. Locked in.

4:06Greg Miller:I'm locked in until I hit a wall. Okay. And I've not hit a wall yet. What is the goal? Similar to your fighting games when you were doing that. Is it like three wins and outs, two losses and outs? How long do you play for?

4:16Tim Gettys:If I start on a win, like if i'm on a win streak to start off then i'll go until i lose get it rolling yeah if i if i'm just winning after winning then like you know maybe i never stop maybe i'm still playing to right now i like that i like that and then what else did you play because i know you played a cool one yes last night i played reloaded which is the new african heist 2d puzzle platformer yes that continues to impress me it also kind of breaks my heart that i feel like this game came out at such a crowded time where there are so many games coming out and i feel like it's getting lost in the flood i'm not seeing as many people talk about it but it is scratching the itch of like mirror's edge a little bit you know when you get into that like flow state mirror's edge where it is i jumped i did the the roll i'm swinging off the thing and i'm doing like you're kind of into this flow it kind of replicates that in 2d of course it's not 3d but it does that in such a fun way and kind of brings that to the 2d puzzle platforming thing where i know i've talked about

5:09Chris Kerr:this a little bit before when they had the they i think it was a steam next fest demo but basically you are playing as uh this heist team that is going back and repatriating african artifacts from museums so you're going to these museums you're stealing the artifacts to take them back um the way you go about it is that you essentially plan out a heist you can like place where your teammates are at or like you look to see what the right route is to escape in a timely manner so

5:37Tim Gettys:you're not getting caught by robots or whatever thing you're not getting trapped in a room type stuff you do that and then you have to carry out and execute it and when i tell you this game does such a good job at all those things i like that i i usually i feel like when like indie games are trying to be like oh we got story got this we got xyz thing usually something tumbles and i've been very impressed so far playing this game where the gameplay is fun the platforming is fast and satisfying the cinematics are actually very impressive nice i've actually been very impressed by like one i like how the character models look i liken it a little bit to almost like a claymation art style even though it's not claymation but something about the character models kind of gives that a little bit in a good way and then also the levels i like i just like how everything looks how everything pops and then in cut scenes they have like camera angles that feel like i'm watching a tv show or movie like the types of choices they make cinematography wise in this game are fairly impressive for what i what i'm pretty sure is a first time indie game so i just want to shout out that game reluted also while i was playing this game was learning things about actual african history because i believe the bulk if not all the artifacts in this game that you can come across in these museums are based off of real life artifacts that's awesome yeah and so like

6:51Chris Kerr:there was one where they were like hey this is the gold medal that uh this olympian one i think their name was like a baby or something like that but like this this olympian a baby bequila it was a gold medal from a baby bequila who was essentially like a an ethiopian um olympian

7:08Tim Gettys:that like had this legendary run or whatever and i was reading about it i was like this is real and i looked it up and i was like oh this is real and then yeah okay came to learn that all the artifacts are based off of real stuff so really cool game 14 bucks 15 bucks yeah amazon game pass

7:21Greg Miller:as well and it's on game pass as well hey that's awesome yeah you play anything interesting uh you know what on the flip side i played a white woman that's stealing all of these artifacts oh I played Tomb Raider. I played the OG Tomb Raider. And man, that's hilarious.

7:40Tim Gettys:That's hilarious. What do you put it like that? Prof Manor could be a level in Relooted if you think about it.

7:47Greg Miller:Exactly, exactly. I played the OG Tomb Raider. I jumped back into the OG remaster of 1 through 3 and started playing that. Really fun. That's a game I grew up on on the PS1 where we would call in the Helpful Hints line to be like, how do we get past these tigers and find the you know the amulet and man jumping back into it bless the controls awful very cool they do the master chief collection thing we go to old school graphics and new school graphics to see it looks good just a fun little trip down memory lane you didn't want to wait till tomb raider legacy or whatever the new one's called you know what i wanted to jog my memory so i was ready i believe it's uh atlantis right i don't think it's that way in this i think it's is it catalyst the newest one no no the remake of the first remake tim gettys has it on his

8:31Tim Gettys:fantasy critic oh yeah that's a good call look that up that's a very good call i'm betting on catalyst i'm pretty sure it's too many catalyst i'm going i'm saying catalyst i don't think that's it let's see let's see right now he's looking at you're not gonna beat me here chad come on now

8:47Greg Miller:tim gettys it is tomb raider legacy of atlantis oh wait where did i get tomb raider is that the new one i think you're thinking of the new is the okay the new one's catalyst legacy of atlantis Yes. And so I wanted to jog my memory of what was the story and play through it because I don't remember any of it. I don't even think I beat the game as a kid because it was so gosh darn difficult. And so, yeah, this is just like a run back. And then when they put out the new remake, I'll be able to have a little touchstone to it. I like that, which will be fun. Look at that.

9:16Chris Kerr:But enough about that. Let's talk about today's news stories, because remember, you're watching KHD. If you're watching live, you can be a part of the show by super chatting in over on YouTube dot com slash kind of funny games. Also, shout out to our Patreon producers, Carl Jacobs, Omega Buster, and Delaney, the Psalm, Twining. For now, let's begin with what is and forever will be the Roper Report. It's time for some news. We have five stories today.

9:42Greg Miller:A baker's toss-out!

9:45Tim Gettys:And this is what I'll say. All right, Mike, me and you were talking about it before the show. Talk about it. Pull the curtain back. Let them know. Let's pull the curtain back. Like, chat, what I don't want to hear from you is, oh, slow news day, huh? Because let me tell you, this might be, like, there's stuff to talk about for sure. But, you know, we don't make the news. You know what the hell is going on. We just talk about it. So is story number one a story that I was like, ah, maybe this is a Wii news? And I looked at the scope of this and was like, all right, I guess we're just going to start off with this one.

10:15Tim Gettys:Maybe. But we're going to have fun with it. We're going to have conversation. Let's roll. I almost see this as more of a Gamescast topic, more than anything, with story number one.

10:23Chris Kerr:The High Guard website is down. Its players brace for the worst. I'm pulling from Zach's Wizen at Kotaku. Just a few weeks after launch, and less than three months after it was first announced at the Game Awards, High Guard is still alive. But its official website is suddenly down, sparking online rumors that the game is not long for this world. As spotted by Rebs Gaming and others earlier today, the official PlayHighuard.com website was replaced with a simple static page featuring the game's logo and a message that says, This site is currently unavailable. Below that is a support email to ping about the down site.

11:02Chris Kerr:Kotaku has contacted Wildlife Entertainment for more information. It seems the site has been down since at least 7.50 a.m. Eastern Standard Time. so that would have been about 4 a.m our time yeah about 4 50 our time um and yeah it's been about

11:20Tim Gettys:five hours six hours now i mean 450 to 10 to five hours okay yeah okay yeah mike does what does this say to you is this something to worry about or do you think this is just a website hiccup

11:32Greg Miller:i mean it's not a good sign it's not a good after the big layoffs after the rocky launch that now we are, you know, not having the website turn on. Now, of course, as a gamer, this means nothing to me, Bless. The game is still on. The game is still functioning. Blessing, I can't tell you how many times, probably less than 10 times, I've ever gone to a video games website page in my life. I'm not a big, hey, I got to go to playhighguard.com right now. I go to halo.com. What happens? And so, you know, I'm not a big website guy, But I will say it's probably not a good sign. No, this is, hey, we laid off such and such.

12:14Greg Miller:We forgot that Brad was in charge of the websites.

12:17Tim Gettys:And now we had Brad and he was working on the use.

Read the full transcript

12:20Greg Miller:Brad was the website guy.

12:22Tim Gettys:Every day, every Monday, Brad would come in and press the J button, which meant keep going on the website, update this thing. And we laid him off. And now he didn't come in to press J on the thing. And now Tuesday, everything.

12:33Greg Miller:So yeah, you know, it's not a good situation there because we probably just laid off the guy who was running this. It's not good.

12:39Tim Gettys:Now, shout out to Bayner in chat who says Mike wasn't a Smash Dojo guy. You don't know about Smash Dojo. I have no idea what Smash Dojo is. Smash Dojo gave you all the updates of what was happening in Smash. You went in there. Oh, my God. I was on SmashDojo.com all the time. Like a live service game? I mean, practically. Yeah. I was like Smash at a point had an announcement every single day. Yeah. And they would update the website with an announcement every single, it kind of was kind of like a live service, except it was a live service pre-launch. And so by the time the game comes out, it's like, all right, we got no more to talk about.

13:11Tim Gettys:Just have fun with the game now.

13:12Greg Miller:I am currently on the High Guard Twitter page, which I thought, let's go to that next, because they promote that in their Discord. Yeah. They have not sent off a tweet in four days. They laid off John. John, who was in charge of that. John and Allison now were in charge of social. That's not a good sign either. I don't know, Bless. I mean, when I go to SteamDB, right, there's 1 ,000 players playing right now. 1 ,600 was the 24-hour max player count. We talked about this during the layoffs just earlier last week or whatever day it was, right? And so, like, it's not a good sign. We do have the conversation now that we can kind of play armchair quarterback, Bless, of like, how much longer do you go, right?

13:56Greg Miller:We talked about them having the plan of, we got a content roadmap of a whole year. We're ahead of schedule. We're ready to rock. That's great to hear. But if there's no players playing the game, are you really just going to rock for a whole year and roll out a roadmap to those thousand people on Steam?

14:13Tim Gettys:That's the thing is, you know, we went to the preview event and so many of the words that are coming out of their mouth were very promising as far as what you want to hear out of a live service game. Yeah, we have a year-long roadmap. We have these updates, episode one or two, whatever. it was coming out two weeks after the launch you know you're gonna get xyz thing we have people on deck for fixes and live updates and all that stuff that but i feel like all that stuff plus even more of what they said which was you know we don't need this to be your main game you know we want this to be in the rotation that can only be true to a certain extent right hey if this thing doesn't launch with a hundred thousand concurrence that's fine we can make it work with fifty thousand we can make it work with 20 000 i don't know if you can make it work with 1078 on steam of course i think that's where it gets so low that it is oh no like this is not something that we can work with that'll allow us to pay this 100 person studio i don't know how many people work at the high guard studio but allow us to pay all these people for the next year we talked about that i mean we talked

15:15Greg Miller:about that at the beginning of the launch then with the layoffs now we get past the layoffs and whoever is that core team that is still there, money is still coming in and money is definitely in the red right now. And so you're going to start looking at what are we running? What do we need to start cutting? And yeah, I mean, eventually will be the websites. There will be no more social media. There'll be no more YouTube uploads. We haven't had a YouTube upload since nine days ago, which was episode two of the cinematics. This team probably has, you would think a year's worth of cinematic and storytelling under their belt here.

15:49Greg Miller:so we'll see but eventually things will start coming of like everything is in the red and what

15:54Tim Gettys:will be cut and when you think about like when you say in the red think about how in the red because we're talking about a free-to-play game it's not a like a thousand concurrence for a big single-player game coming out already it's especially in the first month or so of the game coming out it's like oh man we're talking about a game that you can play for free so when you look at that 1078 people that are playing right now on steam how many of those are buying the cosmetics of course especially when they were pretty generous about the cosmetics right hey we're not charging for the wardens you can buy the care you don't have to buy the characters we're giving them out you're only really paying for cosmetics here i believe the cosmetic bundles

16:31Greg Miller:were on par with a fortnight everything else which is like the normal 10 to 20 dollars yeah and we talked about this as well great job with the uh cosmetic bring up is right blessing of like there can only be so many people that are playing your games that will continue to buy and buy right If they know the game is going down and not going to be long for this life, why would I buy all these things, right? On top of that, you can only sell them in the same 20 bundles so many times before either one, I have them all, or two, I've seen them all, and I'm clearly not buying them, right? And so how long does that last?

17:03Greg Miller:Usually teams, when this happens, from what I've seen, usually it's like, hey, the boat is sinking. We're going to shut down in three to six months. You know what? Take all the bundles. It's over now. because either we're going to have to refund you or we're going to have a big problem you're going to be yelling at us as the boat is sinking so it's like just take it I don't care anymore

17:25Tim Gettys:so there's not really much to show on here I guess as far as what happens to high guard from here I guess the question I'll ask is is there any way to turn this around

17:34Greg Miller:no there will be nothing to turn this around unfortunately they had a moment there week one when they did the five on five and I think that was a very quick and smart move from that team to adjust accordingly. But unfortunately, the player mentality and sentiment towards this game has already been dug in deep. The player base has already played and seen the game. They've already made their judgment. I think people have already rejected the idea. They've either liked it, they loved it, they hated it, or they're in the middle. You've already judged it. There's no way that this game can come out unless it has a totally fresh, different game mode for you to go try and go hands-on with to impress you.

18:11Greg Miller:right even if they did hey it's four teams at once even if they did 10 on 10 none of this will

18:16Tim Gettys:change you've already seen it i think the tough thing is i just don't think the idea of a raid shooter resonated with people enough right like i enjoyed it i've had fun playing it at the event right but i think when you're talking about the majority of players that you want to bring in and i guess when you're talking about the multiplayer audience that you want to speak to i think there's too much in the game that doesn't i guess speak to people immediately there's something about the flow of the game i think the the core of how these systems work that maybe make people fall off early in the game because it is kind of a weird thing of you jump in you reinforce you loot and then action doesn't happen until a bit further into the match yes which worked for me because i'm like all right cool like i'm i think i've played all of the inspirations of high guard so when you bring all that together it clicks in my brain but i don't i don't know if there was much that you could have done i think this was just a swing and i think it was honestly when i look at high guard i'm like decent swing but i think you're just in a space that is too competitive and like it just didn't it just does not have the resonance that you wanted it doesn't have the

19:23Greg Miller:stickiness for people it was a good attempt at trying something new and fresh by blending all of the kind of key attributes of video games that you know and love together right and i think what's the saying bless master of many but master of none something like that way back of all trades master of none yes they they had everything good but they weren't the master of anything yeah the best selling part of that game was the raid the search and destroy that moment where we are at your base we're knocking on the door and we're going to plant the bomb that was clearly the selling point of the whole raid thing, right?

19:55Greg Miller:Everything was leading to that, and that wasn't enough to be like, this is so much fun that I can't wait to play more of it, right? Everything that led up to it was just fair to good to fine, okay. And it's like, none of it was great enough to be like, oh, I want to stay on this hamster wheel because I get to this part, which is the most fun part, right? The most fun part of that game was, hey, we've now got the sword, we've unlocked your base, we're going to have the fun battle here at your base running from point to point everything before that i don't think was good

20:25Tim Gettys:enough and i think you're just at a place where there's too many distractions for people overwatch i was gonna say overwatch too but overwatch remove the two you know it's cleaner that having its big update stole a lot of energy stole a lot of energy other games coming out right us being on the road to marathon plus arc raiders coming out a couple months ago and arc raiders still

20:46Chris Kerr:going strong right i think you have so much surrounding um high guard as far as other

20:52Tim Gettys:competition i mean way bigger competition that i think it just got suffocated out as well like it didn't even have a chance to be like but but wait hold on like we know you guys you know you guys don't believe in this but like at least give us give us the space you know we'll cook we'll cook they didn't even have the time to cook no overwatch came through slapped the pan off the fucking stove and said we're done cooking we're cooking now and they took over the kitchen now

21:14Greg Miller:you did say like, what is next? Right. And there's nothing next. There is something next. And it will be the announcement of how much longer does this game have? Right. Like this game will float on for eternity, but there is a definitive like next moment, which is the team coming out on social media, on a YouTube video, somewhere out there that says, Hey, everyone, we took a swing. We missed. It didn't resonate with the player base. Unfortunately, that has led us to this moment where we will be shutting down the game servers on this date. Until then, you can play it, and then it's done forever.

21:50Greg Miller:If you've made purchases past this, we're doing a refund, and after that, you know, we'll see what we do, right? They don't have to announce they're shutting the studio down, they don't have to announce the next game, but they will have to announce hey, this is over with, right? And so, this game will just kind of linger around and be in the ethos until it's finally time to say something about it. And I feel like with the website going down as little as that is no updates on a lot of the social media platforms a thousand people playing on steam i do think that message will be coming sooner than we think

22:23Tim Gettys:i think the thing that makes me really think that message is going to come very soon is that i feel like with the website being down you'd at least want to communicate on socials hey the website is down we're working on a fix yeah if you're working on a fix if this is like another step toward yeah we're cutting off the lights one at a time. I think this is how you handle it.

22:42Greg Miller:If you were working on a fix, a true fix to try to bring this game back, you wouldn't have laid off all that team. Oh, because you're going to need them. You know what I mean? Like they're, they're working on a fix of how do we save as much money as we can before we go really into the red and like, it's over here. Right. And so, yeah, unfortunate situation. We watched that. I don't, how long did Concord last? Is this going to outlast Concord? So this outlast Concord.

23:06Tim Gettys:Yeah. To be fair, though, Concord was a$40 video game. That is true. So, I think, being published by PlayStation. And so, there's a lot more, I think, expectation as far as the money you're making back there that they weren't able to fulfill.

23:18Chris Kerr:I want to bring in some Super Chats. I don't know what this means from Clawmaster.

23:23Tim Gettys:So, Bless, sounds like you like raw dogging is what Clawmaster said. Wow. I don't know where that happened. I mean, did it have to do with, like, my routine, my wake-up routine? Wake up, go to the gym. I don't know if I said it raw dogging anywhere in there.

23:34Greg Miller:No, I didn't get any of that. No, no.

23:37Tim Gettys:But hey, you know me, Clawmaster. You know what I mean? Listen, stop it. You caught me red-handed. Clawmaster. You caught me red-handed.

23:43Chris Kerr:What are you doing? PortlandKevin597 writes in and says, hope you love our city, Mike. International Rose Test Garden is a beautiful spot. There are excellent coffee shops, pizza, and food trucks everywhere.

23:52Greg Miller:I reached out to PortlandKevin. Maybe I'll be able to find them. Yeah. It's a tight window of like, you either find me Thursday night or you're going to have to come with me on Friday morning. Go get a coffee and a bagel with me. There you go. Will it be a Washington, D.C. situation? Probably. Well, explain the Washington, D.C. situation. Yeah, I went out to D.C. for Cotton X, and I thought, you know what? I'd like to meet some kind of funny best friends. And so instead of, like, preparing for it two weeks, a week in advance, I was on the plane to D.C., and I decided, you know what? I'll send out a tweet.

24:21Greg Miller:And it simply said, I'm going to have a meet and greet. Meet me at the Capitol building. You can't do that. You cannot do that. What year was this? That was the year, I think. Oh, no. It wasn't my best thought. But people found me. But people found me. We had a blast. You can't organize a group of people. Oh, God.

24:44Chris Kerr:Motorworld Hype writes in with the Super Chat and says, Bless, thanks for shouting out Relooted. I was trying to look up reviews on YouTube, and the results were 90 % racist rage baiters. This game needs loud positivity to counteract that bullshit. Hell, yeah.

24:55Tim Gettys:That's crazy. I'm not seeing as much of that stuff because my time, thankfully, my timeline doesn't have as many racists on it. But I've seen a little bit of, like, people associating it with, like, oh, the game's woke or whatever. And I'm like, brother, I was talking about this on my stream last night, right? Of how it warms my heart to see a game that takes place in Africa and pulls from, like, African culture. Because I'm Nigerian and I never see that shit, right? And so, like, for people to be like, oh, like, you know, fuck this game. It has woke shit. It's whatever. Like, brother, we can't have one?

25:28Tim Gettys:We can't have one video game? One indie game? fucking shut the fuck up if you're a racist out here especially if you're going after Reloaded because that's a good video game as well it's not even a bad video game that like oh man it's woke shit oh they just made this be the video game is fucking good and so like yeah shut the fuck up we don't care about what you have to say

25:49Chris Kerr:thank you so much Motorworld hype Wildlight was 10 cent funded initially I've heard they declined a second round and that led to layoffs they just have no revenue coming beyond that

26:01Greg Miller:I don't recall that story. I don't know if I knew that. Yeah, I don't know if we, I don't remember him talking about that. When we asked about like publisher and support, they said it's all on us. So that was pretty interesting.

26:12Chris Kerr:Yeah. Bringing in one from Brain69BB who says, it's not a slow news day. Everyone is just out here celebrating Mardi Gras.

26:20Greg Miller:Mike, you ever been to Mardi Gras in New Orleans? I've never been to Mardi Gras in New Orleans. It seems like a really fun time.

26:25Tim Gettys:I went one time. It was a blast. Okay. It was a fucking blast.

26:28Greg Miller:It looks a little too chaotic for my taste.

26:30Tim Gettys:Uh-huh.

26:31Greg Miller:but i also like i would thrive in that oh you for sure would thrive in that environment yeah

26:35Chris Kerr:uh let's see here pofodikis uh seven says mike go to kopi coffee in portland best coffee k-o-p-i coffee okay shasalai 909 says were they given this feedback or people or people were

26:52Greg Miller:glazing i don't know what that means for the video game i guess for i think they got plenty of feedback, my friend. I'm sure they got a solid mix of media feedback when we were there, influencer feedback the next day when they had influencers there, and then, of course, gamer feedback the moment it launched a week later. I'm 99 % sure that team got plenty of feedback, and it's just unfortunately that the course of the game, that game and what they had, it's not easy to steer the ship and all of a sudden make a massive pivot. It's not a battle royale that's like, okay, making a team arena shooter real quick yeah this was a very special game that's like you can't get

27:32Tim Gettys:off the rails on that and i think it's tough when you're trying to make something that feels fresh and different but also make it in secrecy you know what i mean like of course they had play tests and if they're doing game development rice right yeah they fucking had feedback because that's how all this stuff works right when you're talking about play tests and making something new but you know they had a vision for something of we don't want to make another arena game we don't want to make another battle royale we want to try and make a brand new mode that mixes these things and has something that's totally unique that's able to kind of like live on its own or whatever and you know i think there's only so much feedback that you can take for something that is trying to be different and i think so much of it is like good enough in some regards like mike you hit the nail on the head of like none of it is like super duper great on its own but i think a lot of the game is good i think the the gunplay feels good i think the uh like the i keep wanting to call them legends because the apex legends but like i think the wardens and abilities and all this stuff like a lot of it feels good enough but again like when you're jack of all trades master of none in a in a sphere of games that are masters of what they're doing again i say in overwatch or even if you want to say apex or like there are so many other multiplayer games that are stating their case of this is why you need to play this and the case for high guard of this is why you need to play this needed to be oh this raid shooter mode is so fun and so sick you can only get it here and unfortunately that just wasn't enough the raid shooter mode wasn't it wasn't the greatest thing since sliced bread and that's the that's the space that we're in that's the competition that you're in when you're putting out a shooter nowadays yeah um scorpion brew writes in and says

29:15Chris Kerr:I still play high guard every day. I honestly love it and a hole will be left once again. I also loved Concord.

29:21Greg Miller:There are many people out there that are just like you that find they enjoy the play style. They like these games. They find a little home there. They find their community and they enjoy every moment until it's either gone or it keeps going. So like, hey, people like you are supporting the game. That's why it's still on right now. That game is still going because there's still people playing it.

29:42Tim Gettys:And that's why I'm I'm an advocate for multiplayer games that don't necessarily need to be live service of course there's certain game types that like kind of do need to be like a battle royale or whatever but I look at a rematch for example and that's an online game multiplayer game but guess what they charged for it and it's good enough and it's still around and I can play rematch today and I can't say that same thing about certain other games my heart yearns for a Knockout City return and Knockout City is gone and that breaks my heart because that game was too good to be done so dirty but that's what happens when you have to like rely on uh like your audience to stick around and for continual funds to come in or to continue making this game and it it sucks whenever something that you like just goes away like i feel you on concord i feel you on high guard like when high guard's gone honestly like when concord was gone low-key i was kind of like oh damn i like playing that thing like i know everybody hates it but i like playing that thing i feel somewhat same about high guard even though I played less high guard than I did a Concord.

30:43Tim Gettys:But like high guard to be honest, like, damn, that was the only place I could get my raid shooter.

30:46Greg Miller:I mean, you talk about rematch, right? A perfect example of rematch and like charging up front, right? Right now rematch has a peak 24 hour player base on steam. Of course, we always talk about that 4 ,100 people. Currently right now there's 3 ,000 people playing that. They took a massive nosedive just like this high guard game from a peak of 91 ,000 players, so now they are operating at about 4 ,000 people a day, right? And now other consoles add into that, but like you said, Upfront Charge, Cosmetics, getting them through that. This team said this is, we're not banking our whole claim on this, right?

31:22Greg Miller:This is like us making a game, well, we're probably going to be making Sifu 2, right? So it's like, this team has enough to get by, but at 3 ,000 people, if this was a free-to-play live service game, we'd probably be having a

31:34Chris Kerr:different conversation about yeah rematch hit 1 million sales uh i believe after its first week if i'm looking if i'm reading this correctly um yes because this was june 24th from sal romano ekamatsu yeah they hit over 2.5 million players because i believe they're on game pass but yeah

31:51Tim Gettys:hitting uh 1 million sales that first week for a game that cost what 30 dollars 40 dollars i forget the exact price they got they got the money and guess what like the game continues to like exist and they don't have to worry. I imagine they don't have to worry as much on cosmetics and selling things and, ah, shit, our player base is down to 3K. It's like, well, we sold the game.

32:11Greg Miller:I hope he gets a second life with FIFA World Cup this summer. I hope that the marketing push, they can remarket somehow and get the excitement and energy going again because, man, oh, man, that first week of rematch was so much fun and it would be crazy if you could get the love and energy going again. are we going to talk about are we talking about fc ea sports fc what about it you see they they're announcing like some sort of crazy open world thing it's like that no i missed this i'll try to find it find it for me we'll see if it's real or not but like they're they're if it's real then whatever this rumor is it's like a wwe island or 2k neighborhood type vibe yuck oh see i'm on the

32:53Tim Gettys:opposite side lit no oh i don't want that i'll see if i can find that um oh i did see that i think netflix or somebody i need to double check this but somebody's making a new fifa game like

33:04Chris Kerr:fifa proper really yeah i mean it's gonna be it's probably not gonna be good hold on i'm gonna google fifa game okay well it just brought up soccer games that are happening people reveals first licensed game since ea sports split this is from espn oh no no this is from last year never mind this is a different thing this is a game called fifa heroes okay that was real last

33:28Greg Miller:year now take this with a grain of salt but this has been making the rounds this morning from a bunch of different sites or a bunch of different twitter accounts probably it's fake but you never know says breaking EAFC 27 the grounds is a reportedly reportedly an open world experience players could explore free roam city visit barber shops buy outfits train at gyms play on local pitches to build reputation level up their custom character oh my god so yeah it's basically just I

33:57Tim Gettys:mean it's the neighborhood yes the city the 2k city who so wait hold on let me so 2k is the one that always does this yes so you're telling me that ea is trying to get in on that yeah it seems logical do you think ea would do it better than 2k no it'll all be bad it's all bad i'm trying to

34:17Greg Miller:like find any any sort of hope here it's it's a fun concept and the when you first initially do it it's really cool when you do it year after year it does just become nonsense but like it is a fun concept of i create my character i run around this giant city i see you playing soccer over there i come join you on that pitch we go to the indoor soccer area we go over to the ranked area like you could make it fun but like yeah it's just going to be the normal you know whenever they

34:43Tim Gettys:release it put it on the stream schedule i'll stream that with you if it's real we'll do that

34:47Chris Kerr:and then yeah i have confirmation i'm pulling from ig and vicky blake this is from december 18th a new fifa video game has been confirmed by netflix developed by a studio that's yet to ship anything is what the headline is so we'll see what's up with that yeah we'll see i don't know man we're in such a weird place now um i'll bring in one more super chat before we move on yeltsin writes in and says are these types of games done too many have failed no they will

35:13Greg Miller:continue to try and try to crack the egg because we always talk about it you constantly the gamers outcry is we are bored of fortnite and battle royales we want something new right we have found that with extraction shooters especially with that team from our graders finding a way to get the casual audience into that there is more out there to explore and they will continue to try that but like you have to try and fail or else like we're just going to live in a world of battle royale shooters yeah so yeah teams are going to keep trying yeah i want to know what you mean by these types of games because if you're talking about multiplayer live service games right like

35:51Tim Gettys:I hope not because I don't want there to be a sentiment of we don't want multiplayer games. We don't want, I guess life service, I kind of understand the sentiment a little bit, but I guess what I want is I want good versions of those. I want the best versions of those, right? Like, you're the multiplayer guy here, right? We love multiplayer games. I love playing with friends. I love playing shooters. I love playing new weird modes, right? what i don't want to be is nickel and dimed what i don't want is for games to waste my time and also like i want i guess like the amount of games that we have out right now i want to live in a world that makes those things make sense to all coexist together but realistically there is so much there are so many games and not and so many players just don't have time to play of course everything many players don't have time to play multiple things and it's a tough nut to

36:48Greg Miller:crack because you say all that and it's like a lot of these teams need time to create that perfect space right like yeah it's a rollout it's a launch it's a hey we got something here but it takes time to continue to build off that and make it great right and right now we don't have enough we're not giving enough time right it's like a very much like you either catch fire day one or we're going back to the games that are already on fire right and it's very difficult to be like all right well then like we'll be here we're gonna build we're gonna make it great by a year from now it's like we won't be back yeah mike we're gonna move on and talk about what's going on with the steam deck

37:26Chris Kerr:but before we get there i want to tell you about patreon.com slash kind of funny and youtube.com

41:46Chris Kerr:And we're back with story number two. Valve warns of Steam Deck OLED stock issues due to RAM shortage. This is Chris Kerr at Game Developer. We've been talking about this for a little bit over the last week but this is finally Valve stepping in to actually talk about it. Valve has warned it might soon be difficult to purchase the Steam Deck OLED in some regions as a result of memory and storage shortages. The company has added the following note to the Steam Deck page on the Steam store to warn prospective buyers, quote, Steam Deck OLED may be out of stock intermittently in some regions due to memory and storage shortages.

42:20Chris Kerr:Steam Deck LCD 256GB is no longer in production and once sold out will no longer be available, end quote. This is the second time Valve has indicated hardware availability might be impacted by a RAM crisis that is being driven by widespread investment in AI data centers. Earlier this month, the company delayed announcing Steam Machine pricing and shipping details as a result of critical component shortages and price hikes. Valve said the situation forced it to revisit its shipping schedule and pricing strategy, especially with regards to Steam Machine and Steam Frame hardware.

42:55Tim Gettys:We've been talking about this for months and months. Tim was the one the first you know ring the alarm on the back as soon as he saw I think I think it was in video it was some company that was like hey we're gonna go work on this AI shit we're doing these AI data centers and pulling out of the RAM game that when that was when Tim was like shit everything's fucked yeah and so continually everything is going to continue to be fucked

43:19Greg Miller:uh yeah this has been a wild story to see unfold it's a wild world that we currently live in where this is the case for AI data centers. That's a lovely world we live in. One day we'll be our creators where we're pillaging and scavenging for the RAM from these places.

43:34Tim Gettys:Yeah, we just gotta go in. We gotta just go in and just start taking the parts. Just take the fucking RAM out the AI.

43:39Greg Miller:But on the flip side, this is an interesting one of okay, then when will the Steam machine be announced with pricing and dates, right? Then we talk about, you guys just talked about PlayStation and kind of like, hey, they're gonna push back their initial, like, when the PS6 would come out, right? It's like Xbox is the same way. It's like there's this normal cadence that you would think we'd be on the every seven years, right? And of course, that's evolving and changing, but at the same time, now all of these teams, for good and bad, have time, right? They have time to play with it and say, hey, let's hold for a little bit.

44:13Greg Miller:Let's re-evaluate. And for the gamers as well, you now have time, right? You talked about it before, like COVID threw a totally different change into how we look at this generation. A lot of people say this generation, we're fine right now. Give me more out of this. I'm not ready to jump to the next one. It's like, well, because of this, we have time. For good and bad, we all have a lot of time right here. Now it will be interesting to see when do these companies come and finally start the roll out of announcements. Does Xbox do this for the 25th anniversary to show their next big thing? Is PlayStation going to hold until 2027, 28, 29?

44:50Greg Miller:Is this Steam Machine? are we going to see this thing this year is this thing going to come slated and dated this year you know with how things are happening here does the steam machine even come out

45:02Tim Gettys:no it's coming do they say oh shit no we just get when we look at the long-term future of what the ram shortages are doing and like what like is there a such thing as through the storm because if there's not if i'm if i'm valve i'm starting to go well shit do we want to deal with this like our whole strategy here revolves around trying to make a pc console that is affordable to people so they can come through buy it and now like they're playing on steam they're playing on pc like it's a console yeah if the affordability factor is not a factor anymore then what are we

45:35Greg Miller:doing why are we doing this i mean it's well said it's well said bless i mean like there's this weird one for me of like through the storm is clear of like we want to be out there we want to be in your living room with our storefront and our machine because we know that people want to be buying on steam they want a mini pc type vibe everywhere in their home right and it's like there's this moment that one day we'll make the gap i know people think it's crazy but like one day we'll make the gap to like we're just cloud gaming right to a perfect gumdrop world it's like you will be everything will be so strong you will be cloud gaming i hope i mean one day and You won't need this, right?

46:12Greg Miller:And so, like, you want to get out and make this thing a dominant force before we do live in that super tech world where it's like we are just cloud gaming. Everything is Netflix now.

46:22Tim Gettys:I just don't believe in that future that strongly. I don't believe in that future in anywhere in the next 20 years at least. I just don't think— In 20 years? I don't think internet infrastructure is strong enough to support everybody just being on cloud gaming. We'll see. I don't think we're there.

46:36Greg Miller:I don't think we're there now, but, like, that will be the future, right? If the world doesn't go to shit, which it already is to shit, and we could get our shit together, it would be the future, I think. In 20 to 40-year window, it would be everything is just a click of the button. 20 to 40-year window, maybe. I'll give that. I mean, that's what they got to start playing. Jason Ronald at Xbox, the people at PlayStation, Steam, they have to be looking 7, 15, 20 years down the future and preparing for this because that's going to happen faster than we think.

47:05Tim Gettys:I just need the cloud gaming example. i guess maybe i'm just speaking from my own thing right and maybe this is me thinking about like what my internet was like when i lived in the midwest of course right and how i was like man i can't get this shit to work worth shit right now if i go on a trip on a work trip i can barely get my playstation portal to connect my ps5 that's at home that's even connected through ethernet

47:25Chris Kerr:like i think there are so many issues with internet infrastructure and i'm talking about specifically america i can't speak to other parts of the world that might have even better internet than we do um i just find it real tough i think that i think that's a whole thing to figure out

47:38Tim Gettys:and maybe we'll get there faster than i'm assuming yeah i just don't think we're there right now so

47:41Greg Miller:like on the flip side right it's like steam i would i would assume through the storm is we want to get there sooner than that right we want to start to edge in to xbox and playstation and let people know that you can start buying the steam machine right or is it going to be so much money that it is like, hey, this is just a super luxury item. You're still going to buy your PlayStation, which most people will. We know this, right? Phil Spencer came on the podcast and talked about it, right? People are ingrained in the ecosystems that they are in, and they are definitely in the PlayStation ecosystem.

48:14Greg Miller:Xbox has had a massive issue. They're missing that, right? And so Steam can play Xbox games, can play PlayStation games. They're going to fit perfectly into your living room if they can get this out at a price that people are willing to buy.

48:28Chris Kerr:Let's move on to story number three. Hasbro has reportedly shut down G.I. Joe Snake Eyes game makers, Atomic Arcade. This is from David Carcassel at WCCF Tech. Atomic Arcade, the Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast-owned studio that was making a game based on the iconic G.I. Joe character Snake Eyes, has reportedly been shut down. The news broke from one of the former team members, gameplay programmer Dominic Braun, shared on his personal LinkedIn account that he had been laid off following Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast's decision to close Atomic Arcade. At the time of this writing, there's been no official word from Hasbro, Wizards of the Coast, or Atomic Arcade confirming the closure or the fate of the Snake Eyes game.

49:08Chris Kerr:following the publication of the story a representative from hasbro sent the statement to wccf tech quote the snake eyes game is not canceled the team is currently taking time to evaluate the path forward for the game while decisions haven't been finalized we're committed to providing updates as soon as we're able and quote yeah i should actually i should actually clarify because part of the article said there's been no word that's from before they got the update from hasbro so hasbro said the snake eyes game isn't canceled they had no word though on Atomic Arcade.

49:40Tim Gettys:Now, they said nothing about the studio.

49:41Greg Miller:Now, this is a fun one, Blessing. Like, we looked at each other and said, I didn't even know there was a Snake Eyes game going down. I had to do a little research. So I went to YouTube, and I started typing away, Caboose on YouTube. There's a whole nine-minute video running down what this game is all about. Did you watch the video? I watched the video. Oh, okay. So in 2022, there was an article about how it might be real or the rumor that this was kicking on. Then in 2023, they went into pre-production. The studio is a AAA game from former Batman Arkham City developers. Oh, okay. And so Atomic Arcade.

50:17Greg Miller:And it was going to be something similar to a Batman slash Arkham game with Snake Eyes. Website's still up. Website is still up. Which one, Atomic Arcade? Yeah, the website is still up. You can go to the website and see two photos of Snake Eyes. Now, it's not photos of the full suit. It is just like the chest to the belly button with him holding the machine gun and him holding the sword. And that's all you got.

50:43Tim Gettys:Man, how did this slip by? We must have talked about this on an episode of KHD and just wiped it from our brains. Yeah. But also like a Snake Eyes game. That sounds fun. I think that'd be sick, especially from the Batman people. Yeah. But that doesn't sound real. Like it took us this long to get a John Wick video game. How did Snake Eyes get a video game greenlit in 2022?

51:02Greg Miller:it's a very interesting one blast of like i when i when i think of gi joe i kind of chuckle a little bit of like who's buying that yeah you know what i mean but like i mean yeah being snake eyes would be lit yeah like no lie snake eyes in an arkham city type vibe would be very cool the only reason

51:18Tim Gettys:i know snake eyes is because of the gi joe movie that came out the first one that came out like a decade and a half ago and i was like oh man that character is cool that's my frame of reference for Snake Eyes. You're telling me you got a video game greenlit in 2022 and it took until 2026 for us to get a John Wick video game? That game ain't coming out, bro. Well, we will see.

51:38Greg Miller:That game is not coming out. Hasbro has not canceled the game. They're just taking some time to reevaluate. They've only... Bless you, Kevin. They've only...

51:47Chris Kerr:That was a strong-ass speech.

51:49Tim Gettys:They didn't hear it.

51:50Chris Kerr:We heard it through the window. But But yeah, they shut down the studio. Seemingly, allegedly. Allegedly, they shut down Atomic Arcade.

52:01Tim Gettys:So I'm curious on who's going to make it. You think Hasbro looks at another studio and they're like, hey, we're passing this on to you? Does Hasbro do Dungeon and Dragons and Magic the Gathering cards? Oh, cards? Or are you just talking about do they own it?

52:14Greg Miller:Yeah, is Hasbro the parent company? The Wizards of the Coast, Dungeons and Dragons?

52:19Tim Gettys:Dungeons and Dragons, Magic the Gathering, yes. Sell some more Final Fantasy.

52:21Greg Miller:You'll be able to fund it.

52:24Tim Gettys:sell another hobbit set because that's license you'll be fine and so that money then gets split with square enix you know i don't know if that's going to be the thing that gets all the money that they need but like have we ever gotten a gi joe magic set i feel like that's how you fund it

52:38Greg Miller:no they give me a snake eyes commander they're not quite big on like the guns yet and magic you got to remember right like they don't have just assault rifles in that in that world yet

52:49Tim Gettys:I think Transformers There's not been a collaboration with Magic where they've had guns

52:54Greg Miller:I'm pretty sure in Magic I don't think there's like assault rifles and pistols I think they're going to go as like far wacky as Star Trek with phasers I think maybe Transformers might be the closest like guns and missiles you're getting in Magic They must have guns on some of them Some of them Final Fantasy cards Okay Warhammer, yeah Warhammer you're kind of dancing there but I don't think they're like, here's an M40 assault rifle with snake eyes. Are we counting Secret Lair? Because Last of Us had the Secret Lair card. Okay, okay. No, no. I'm talking for four cents. This is a great piece. Exactly.

53:31Greg Miller:I don't think they've gone full tilt on this yet.

53:34Tim Gettys:Kevin brings up a Magic the Gathering card that's literally just a gun, but it's fake. It's a custom-made one. Fallout. Okay, Fallout. So yeah, I guess they're dancing with it. Yeah, yeah. They're there. And they own G.I. The problem, the reason why they wouldn't do G.I. Joe is because I think they know nobody gives a fuck about G.I. Joe. I don't think there's a crossover. I know some of y 'all give a fuck about G.I. Joe because you're 60 years old, but like I don't know if they think the magic audience.

53:57Greg Miller:And Chad, I'm not confidently wrong. I'm a magic purist and I only like swords and magicians and wizards and knights in my magic. Remember that.

54:06Chris Kerr:Story number four. As early copies of Resident Evil Requiem appear in the wild, fans warn that now is the time to log off in order to avoid leaks. This is from Tom Phillips at IGN. This is a nice little PSA for you. Early copies of Resident Evil Requiem have been glimpsed in the wild, meaning it is now time to take action to avoid spoilers fans have warned, such as the ultimate fate of Leon S. Kennedy and Capcom's hugely anticipated game. I don't have to read the whole article. The whole article is just be careful, spoilers. Shit's out there.

54:31Tim Gettys:Shit's out there. Get ready. Yeah, this keeps happening. We're talking about

54:34Greg Miller:this for the every game. I know.

54:36Tim Gettys:Well, listen, it's a slow news day, all right?

54:39Greg Miller:It's just crazy that, like, this happens all the time, Bless. Yeah. There's never been a crackdown on this. I mean, what would the crackdown be? I mean, they try to crack down but like there's no it's always out there someone's got it and they're gonna

54:51Tim Gettys:they're gonna upload it it's it's vin diesel in fast and furious one behind the trucks and they're like yo i know what they got in there it's a resident evil requiem we're gonna get it ta trucks better be careful oh man man i didn't even think about that i know we talked about a little bit with the digital only thing it's gonna be dangerous yeah those like truly and honestly they might actually have to have armored trucks i think they might like you joke but i think that

55:15Greg Miller:I think you might have to go armored for those ones. But yeah, I mean, if you are interested in Resident Evil, you should probably be aware. We are in that window of like copies are getting ready to be sold. We're right around the corner. We're a week away. You probably should start going radio silent on this.

55:30Tim Gettys:We might not get review copies for GTA 6. We talked about that, me and Greg. Yeah, yeah, possibly. Like, I think that might be, I think the crackdown might be that strong. We'll see. We'll see. But Mike, if we do get review codes for GTA 6, that's going to be huge. What if they only give us one code? Who do you think gets it? Do we fight for it? Yeah, we have to have a Mario Kart tournament

55:52Greg Miller:I think Andy gets it, right?

55:54Tim Gettys:Well, no, because Andy got the preview He gets the preview You know what?

56:00Greg Miller:I give it to you, Bless You're just saying that Well, because you'd want to stream it

56:05Tim Gettys:You'd want to do the marathon stream That's actually the real thing

56:08Chris Kerr:Let's be real, we got time We got time

56:11Tim Gettys:If I'm to guess, I think number one i'm saying greg miller but then i'm also slashing going i'm going tim gettys and you my number one but i might slash greg because you know greg has a kid yeah he can't be playing gta in front of the kid yeah no yeah no and he's not gonna have time to like i gotta put the kid to bed he's not ready now i have between the hours of 9 p.m and 10 30 when i go to sleep no he's not gonna beat it so then we go to tim yeah i think tim's most likely i think tim then maybe me yeah tim and you and andy andy andy and greg no greg's above andy thanks above andy i think greg will get gta no andy doesn't have much going on he can play it but does any like gta like that he better when have you heard andy say the words gta never exactly never i don't even know if you

57:02Greg Miller:played a gta play lines of p for the 17th time oh yeah because he's always playing lines b that's

57:07Tim Gettys:all he likes to play all right i think barrett roger we should give it the code roger roger would be great yeah i already figured it out you see j cole's going on a tour yeah he's gonna be

57:19Greg Miller:here in august about you yeah he's going to oakland i think he's going to oakland arena yeah

57:24Tim Gettys:that's where kendrick performed is that they're still going to that old arena yeah interesting okay i think it depends on the audience like because oakland i feel like a lot of rap like big rap artists or big hip-hop artists i think are hitting up oakland arena because oakland

57:35Greg Miller:is it is it because chase center would be too expensive probably it's odd because like they're Probably marketable. There's probably very similar in size. I was just thinking summertime. J. Cole. I'm trying to be outside. I want to be in the Raiders stadium next door. Open the top. Let's dance party the night away. I don't want to be inside sweating.

57:57Tim Gettys:I think it's pricing. Probably. But J. Cole coming to San Francisco or Oakland, I guess, is going to be so huge.

58:06Chris Kerr:It's going to be huge. But if I wanted something smaller, say the tiniest news.

58:08Greg Miller:Plus, I take you to our last news story. the we news channel where we cover all the small news items you need to know about and here's the

58:15Tim Gettys:reason why we wouldn't want greg to review gta 6 is that we all heard greg miller's red dead

58:19Greg Miller:redemption 2 review is that what the people are saying yeah we remember that come on okay even

58:24Chris Kerr:though i agree with him 100 okay okay so maybe you don't want me to review it either so number five we news is part of the 1.1.8 update going live today february 17th ubisoft will be adding a manual jump option to assassin's creed shadows wow yeah it's a big news day manual jump option

58:45Greg Miller:yeah like a jump button because normally you just press forward and they auto jump and run and climb i guess i don't know what i'm not you know i play the last assassin's creed that i really played was

58:57Tim Gettys:assassin's creed 2 yeah i just played i forget if that even had a jump okay good to know good to

59:03Greg Miller:know that's i mean more player option is good with me yeah no problem with that but like they

59:07Tim Gettys:took out the jump button out of assassin's creed that that's where i'm like hung out like isn't it wasn't a jump button i guess maybe it's like hold because i feel like i'm jumping sideways

59:15Greg Miller:off that shit all the time i'm playing that and i'm awkwardly jumping the wrong direction and

59:20Tim Gettys:getting frustrated most of the time but that's because you're holding the parkour button and holding the direction i love holding the parkour button dude let me tell you reloaded has a parkour button i saw it yeah you hold it's really fun it looks good game pass games wave 2 have been

59:34Chris Kerr:announced for february on the 17th you're getting ariel knights drop shot out and then avatar frontiers pandora on the 19th you're getting death howl ea sports college football 26 and the witcher

59:45Greg Miller:3 wild hunt ce i was gonna say combat evolved collector's edition collectors get ready maybe DLC is real.

59:53Tim Gettys:Maybe the DLC is real. Smart. On the 24th, you're getting TCG, Card Shop Simulator.

59:59Chris Kerr:One of the best simulator games around. On the 25th, you're getting Dice a Million. On the 26th, you're getting Towerborn. And on March 3rd, you're getting Final Fantasy 3 and Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. How many releases

1:00:11Greg Miller:has Towerborn got? I'm going to need a date check.

1:00:15Tim Gettys:This is the official one, though, because before it was early access.

1:00:18Greg Miller:This is the official one?

1:00:18Tim Gettys:I don't know. I don't know.

1:00:20Greg Miller:Give me the date check on that.

1:00:23Tim Gettys:One day I'm going to go back to Red Dead Redemption 2. Oh, yeah. I think so. Now, that's another big game. That's too many big games. That's a big game, bless. But part of me wonders that I just wasn't in the right time of my life to be playing Red Dead Redemption 2. Yeah. You know? I mean, dude, I'm sure it's going to be a fun time.

1:00:41Greg Miller:My horse died a little bit one too many times. All right, be that horse. I got frustrated. Remember when you go into cinematic mode and you wouldn't know which way the horse was facing? just bang into a tree.

1:00:51Tim Gettys:I think that was one of my big complaints is that like the game would entice me to not play the game where they're like, all right, go to the next mission and I'll go to cinematic mode, put my controller down and be like, all right, take me there. This is the gameplay of this game.

1:01:02Chris Kerr:I can put my controller down. Konami has delisted Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker from the Xbox store after the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Volume 2 was announced last week. I bought that early. I heard similar things about the PlayStation 3 store. Okay. So I don't know how I feel about that.

1:01:19Tim Gettys:I feel like could have just left it up there who cares game preservation you know what I mean that's an interesting one yeah what is that conversation like I'm like well clearly the game is on this now so they're like hey let's take it off here so people don't get confused and buy it here yeah I think people might accidentally turn on the well all of a sudden

1:01:39Greg Miller:I'm buying that game I'm getting uptight I'm buying the collection if you accidentally buy the ps3 version of billy solid 4 that's on you well you know I've downloaded a lot of ps4 versions of the game a lot because of that bad ui system so yeah that happens you know what honestly i feel you yeah you're right about that you're definitely right about that get lost in that one net eve's

1:01:56Chris Kerr:studio anchor point is going independent call of duty warzone mobile servers will shut down on april 17th yeah that's a wild one that's a crazy one digimon story time stranger dlc 3 anti-paradox launches in march 2026 virtual boy is now available on switch online expansion pack and finally this a really cool one big hops has a documentary available right now on youtube titled six years to build big hops uh the youtube description reads in this dev dive documentary tucker hazel and chris wade explore the design and development of the colorful 3d platformer big hops hell yeah

1:02:31Greg Miller:i love when stuff like this happens okay perfect yeah i love that i love a good no clip i love a

1:02:37Tim Gettys:fun video game doc so like i'm in yeah i love that there are more people out there doing stuff like

1:02:42Chris Kerr:yeah hell yeah shout out tucker hazel and the team who worked on this documentary and that is it i like that for we news let's hop into super chats real quick see what y 'all are saying before we get out of here justin mars writes in and says mike how dare you come to portland and not tell me i wanted to show you how to shred on one on a one wheel the nar nar oh on a one wheel they say sad thing is i fly out to disneyland on friday well oh okay well like if you want to rip thursday night get weird with it let me know i'm known to rip yeah yeah but i'm worried about the one wheel

1:03:15Greg Miller:have you ever thought about the one wheel do you think you got it on a one wheel absolutely not so the one wheel is like you have to get on by having the back foot down holding in the stationary position then you got to put that front wheel that front foot forward and kind of lean to get it to start moving and then you eventually have to find a balance where like you're even but also lean a little bit forward to let that thing move forward on it yeah i know that i feel like i would

1:03:39Tim Gettys:fall off and break something yeah and that scares me people get wicked on a one wheel you should look it up i mean i know what a one wheel is i've seen people get i've seen people going crazy i think i've seen people in real life like driving down the road on a one wheel and i'm like damn

1:03:52Chris Kerr:you're on the in the middle of the road like with cars and stuff it's crazy the portland kevin writes in and says lots of portland pizza options demos for thin crust the star for deep dish and sizzle pie for traditional i emailed you to meet up but you can also contact me same name on discord or

1:04:07Greg Miller:blue sky uh check your instagram portland kevin i think i wrote you on instagram let me know jj

1:04:12Chris Kerr:baseball 23 says deadlock also got a big update right before high guard deadlock's nasty right

1:04:17Greg Miller:now one day i'll play it's real difficult though oh yeah okay maybe it's a real good at the game maybe i'll stay away it's becoming a league of legend situation oh no see don't tell me that it's becoming a league of legend situation benny baskin writes in and says why don't these games

1:04:32Chris Kerr:to offer a peer-to-peer option for people that like them i think we saw that with uh knockout

1:04:38Greg Miller:city yeah it just depends on the dev and if they have the time and space and resources to do that

1:04:44Chris Kerr:right you know roberto writes in and says this just reminds me of losing rumble verse that hole in my heart will never close rumble verse was special yeah i liked that ox pope says check out process in portland great warehouse dance music venue huge show happening thursday oh yeah that

1:05:01Greg Miller:I just sent you a huge show. We got a stick show coming to San Francisco. I just sent you third Thursday at the Mint. Oh, I love the Mint. Look it up. It's going to be you. Wait, the Mint like karaoke? I sent it to your Instagram. I don't know. No, I don't think it's that kind of Mint.

1:05:15Chris Kerr:Okay. Jordan Fight says, I wish we had more PVE live services. This is somewhat that gotcha. This is something I see. This is something that gotcha games do very well, but requires the gotcha system to fund and develop.

1:05:28Tim Gettys:and develop i i feel that i feel like we're getting them left and right hell divers yeah i mean we got hell divers i think they're i think they're talking about like the genshins of the world which we got that we got you'll be playing arc knights what was the one that came out in november was it where wins meet or is that a different game oh is that is that the that's the mmo martial arts game though yeah that wasn't i think that was like single player rpg though interesting free to play cool yeah i feel like we're getting a lot of those but i feel like they're also coming out of like like asian territories i'd be curious to see like more western devs explore that space a little bit but i feel like gotcha really is core to how you're able to make that happen and the asian territories have that shit on lock i'm telling you genshin

1:06:12Greg Miller:you getting people oh dude i got god and arc knights oh yeah that six star girl

1:06:19Chris Kerr:that's how they get you joey radstone says any plan for a review of high on life 2 i love it I don't know if anybody's playing Highland Life 2 to completion.

1:06:29Greg Miller:No, I was the only one that was like, hey, I'll review this. And we kind of all was like, no, we're just going to keep moving.

1:06:35Tim Gettys:I think the problem is that they didn't give us the review codes early enough.

1:06:40Chris Kerr:They got us the review codes, I think, two days, three days before the game was out, which is not enough time to review that video game. And so by the time Mike would probably finish the video game that they said was 30 to 40 hours long, you guys would not click on the episode, unfortunately. anthro metal says smartest thing cliffy b ever said was there's only room for three games in a given space so hard to capture and maintain attention only room for three games in a given

1:07:06Greg Miller:space three games what are your three games right now bless you have mario kart or mario tennis the ones that i'm playing yeah like think about your three games mario tennis you have final fantasy and probably a work game and those are just yeah and move like if you really think about it yeah it's not the craziest thing to say three games for sure yeah and i think he's also maybe talking

1:07:27Chris Kerr:about like just there's room for three battle royales there's room for three arena shooters

1:07:32Tim Gettys:there's room for three souls likes right like once we get past that you're not going to like rise to the top or whatever okay okay which i don't know if i fully agree i don't know about

1:07:41Chris Kerr:that one yeah but okay um okay we have time for let's knock out one more well we'll shout out king of all humans writes in with a birthday tax he says hug someone who loves you today oh i love that thank you so much for that we're gonna hug roger real tight and then we'll do one more we'll bring in this one from landes 97 who says i played around 150 hours of high guard whoa genuinely had a great time sad to see it go out like this i'm three trophies away from the

1:09:33Greg Miller:lay it on us

1:09:36Chris Kerr:.hack0 was announced today that's from Roo okay

1:09:43Chris Kerr:Eric Allen says, while Mike did use the popular abbreviation, the full quote actually has a different meaning, which here's the thing. This is the last time I'm taken in this year wrong.

1:09:54Tim Gettys:Okay.

1:09:54Chris Kerr:Because this happens every time we do the master of none. Yeah, but we're using it the opposite way.

1:09:58Tim Gettys:Jack of all trades, master of none.

1:10:00Chris Kerr:A jack of all trades.

1:10:01Tim Gettys:Better than some.

1:10:02Chris Kerr:A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one.

1:10:08Greg Miller:You're right. That is the full quote. That's a crazy. Well, then you know what? High guard doesn't do that. Did I take it all back? High guard doesn't do that. Because that final part, high guard's not that. It's better.

1:10:20Tim Gettys:High guard's better than some. Where do you go? Okay. High guard versus Concord. Who you got? Let's have the conversation. Let's have the conversation.

1:10:28Greg Miller:High guard versus Concord. Who you got? You have to go against the things that it was going against. Valorant. It wasn't going against Valorant. Yes. The raid, the final raid part was search and destroy. it's going against Valorant and Counter-Strike.

1:10:42Tim Gettys:No, no, Dev is like, I'm putting this to go up against Valorant. No, Dev is like. That's the gameplay mechanic. It's not Valorant. You get one bomb, go plant it on a site. The only game that is trying to go against Counter-Strike is Valorant.

1:10:55Chris Kerr:Highguard was trying to carve a space for itself and just couldn't carve. The wall was too strong. Too strong. Everybody was pushing back.

1:11:03Greg Miller:Everybody was like, you can't do it in the back. And they were right. Read me the thing one more time. What does it say? What is it called?

1:11:08Chris Kerr:a jack of all trades is a master of none but oftentimes better than a master of one okay i like that which i don't know if i agree with the full quote okay actually oftentimes of all trades

1:11:22Tim Gettys:actually no i do agree with it actually is better than a master of none but oftentimes better than a master of one this is a fence-sitting ass quote wow it's crazy what is what a quote you know commit one way or that's not the quote that i thought should i be a jack of all trades or a master or a master of one.

1:11:38Zack Zweizen:The quote is saying a jack of all trades is better than someone who is a master of one.

1:11:42Chris Kerr:Oftentimes. Not all the time. That's what I'm saying. Pick a side. But I think it's picking a side. I think it's jack of all trades better than master of one.

1:11:53Tim Gettys:I mean, Highgarden was a jack of all trades. It was a jack of all trades. And that person has T minus 24 hours to get that platinum. But it was a master of none. Which is oftentimes better than a master of one. You got to finish the quote, Mike. Damn.

Because I wanted to play with him all day, and he tried to leave early.

1:13:26Tim Gettys:You keep threatening Andy. that doesn't make him want to hang out with you you can't keep threatening physical violence pretty messed up we had a whole meeting about this also we could have taken him to dinner last night
