2:20Nick Scarpino:Exactly. Exactly. Head. Uh-huh. Is it like a Blanca mask? Or like a Blanca head? No. No. Is it Giles' hair? Can we see the picture? Is it Giles' hair? It's Giles' hair! No way. Oh, my God. You can wear it on your head. There's popcorn in it. That's fucking awesome. It's funny because I said it and I couldn't picture how they would make it. For now, let's begin with what is and forever will be the Roper Report. It's time for some news. We have seven stories today. A bigger dozen. doesn't starting with our number one bill scars guard is to star in kojima's fizzant video game from xbox which is a sentence that if you went back in time just a year yeah if you went back in time just three weeks ago our brains would explode oh someone fucked up man this is from jennifer moss at variety bill scars guard will star as the lead in kojima's upcoming action espionage video game Fizzant.
4:07The casting news comes on the heels of last week's announcement that Fizzant would now be published by Xbox after being scrapped at Kojima Productions' longtime partner publisher PlayStation. Kojima was already working with Xbox to publish OD, his next planned release before Fizzant. The title is a horror game made in collaboration with Jordan Peele, which features a cast including Sophia Lewis and Hunter Schaefer. For Fizzant, Skarsgård joins a cast that also includes previously announced stars Charlie fraser don lee and minami hamabe quote i'm delighted to confirm the lead role for phyzent will be bill skarsgard kojima said while announcing the casting news thursday during the xbox tokyo game show 2026 broadcast quote we are both longtime fans of each other's work and we've decided to embark on this new adventure together the costume fittings scans and camera tests we conducted with bill and charlie earlier this year gave me tremendous confidence in the direction of the project and quote now tim i hear the scars guard family name oh yeah all of the time there are many of them there are many of them i see them appear here and there in different projects that i enjoy do you how how much of the scars guard lineage can you break down for me break down not much
5:23Nick Scarpino:okay about him i got you yeah he's one that i know hit me with he's one that i'm like okay he's it he's the guy he's the clown from it oh he's from it yes okay yes i think he's it like he's got it he does he is he does but he's literally it yeah uh he's also the uh antagonist the like final antagonist in john wick for the duel in paris no way yeah wait really yeah oh yeah i forgot about that that was such a long movie a lot happened in that movie so much what a damn movie that was the one with the stair fight right oh yeah so yeah the stair fight leads to him he's kind of sitting there in the middle as the duels happening yeah is that guy okay oh i know him i like him yeah he's great yeah as far as the scars guard family goes plus right you got stelen scars guard who is from guy from thor old guy from thor yes and then also uh more aptly uh what is it um andor as well great in andor also in the pirates of the caribbean trilogy and he was fucking great in those movies.
6:27Nick Scarpino:Who was he in that? He's Will's dad. Oh, man. He's the one who's also serving Davy Jones and starts to lose his mind and shit and forget who he is. He's fucking incredible in those movies. When the hell's kind of funny going to do Pirates and review? Tim, you're going to ask this. You're going to ask this, Tim, of all people. But all you need to know, Blessing, is he has a fuck ton of kids. That guy has a lot of kids. Okay, I super recognize Stellan Skarsgård. Yeah. No, he's in a lot of shit. And he's in the good shit, too. Oh, yeah. They're all in the good shit. He's in Dune, right? I don't think there's...
6:59He's in Dune, yeah. Oh, yeah. I don't think there's a Skarsgård that isn't talented.
7:02Nick Scarpino:Yeah, but this isn't a Wahlberg situation. Wahlberg situation? Wahlberg Brothers. Ah, where there's a talented one? Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Wait, who's the other Wahlberg brother? Donnie?
7:18I love that you don't believe me. He's Mark's brother? Yeah. Marky Mark from the fucking watch? Marky Mark, uh-huh, uh-huh. yeah donnie walberg this is like a like a smith family situation where you have willow and you have jaded and then there's the other one that i feel there's another one there's another one oh that's so sad but he's like pre jada i believe pre yeah and so like he kind of gets lost in the shuffle okay okay wow donnie walberg yeah wow and he's in quite a few things do you know there's a series called wall burgers it's not a series bless no it's a burger shop no it's a series tv series american oh it's about it's a reality tv show i see man what world do we live in this is crazy a bad one by the way there's a lot of walbergs because this show stars paul walberg
8:08Nick Scarpino:as well bless what if i told you that we have multiple kind of funny podcasts that are headlined about how many walbergs there are who is this is a conversation that comes up all the time Alma, McPeck, Wahlberg, Conroy? At some point, you run out of names. Why do you... There's a Bob Wahlberg? There's a lot of Baldwin's. Bob's Wahlbergers? There's a lot of Wahlbergs. There's a lot of Scars cards. Nick's meant summons here in Wahlbergs. Are we speaking Wahlbergs? Just for the record, Nick is never here this early. I just woke up this morning. I woke up this morning, and I was like, I'm going to have a nice calm day, and then I just apparated here.
8:47I don't know what happened. Y 'all just called me in. We talked about the Skarsgård and we talked about the Wahlbergs. And all of a sudden. There's so many of all of them. There's so many of all of them. Can you tell me, what's your impressions of both the Skarsgårds and the Wahlbergs separately? If there's any crossover, give that to us. In what context? In any context. The Skarsgårds, oh boy. They're talented. Yeah? They got words. So have you heard that Bill Skarsgård is starring in the new Kojima game? Like the new Metal Gear Solid style game. Now, are you familiar with Bill Skarsgård? I know him from.
9:16He's the it clown. he's been in a bunch of stuff very good actor what the fuck did i see well you mentioned john wick he's in something else that i know barbarian yeah he's a barbarian he's been a bunch of stuff he's a really good character actor a lot like uh stalin skarsgård which i think is his dad yes um also a great character actor they're from some scandinavian land i'm not quite sure which one uh as opposed to the walbergs yeah who are they're like they're like an american they're like an american treasure like a like a like a building that everyone used to go see a lot when you're a kid and then you grow up you go huh that shit needs to be condemned yeah so if um let's say a genie comes to you and is like you gotta wipe one out one of the families oh the walbergs are gone yeah they're gone dude you're gonna do that to the walbergs not marky mark
10:07Nick Scarpino:stay prayed up that's true tim what does this do for you a lot he's very talented and he's very cool and he's a little off-putting you know what i mean like i think that that's kind of what you want um not the direction i expected you know i do think it's very interesting that kojima clearly was well aware that fizzant was going to happen while he was making death stranding 2 and he was like all right we're going like here comes the feeling all right yeah my favorite game taglines of all time haven't played the game yet but here comes the feeling oh baby okay so with that and it's like all right clearly we get it you're this is a spiritual um reboot of metal gear solid to some extent what that means we'll have to wait and see but if you were gonna do that why did you have the dude that looked exactly like a cool ass solid snake in death stranding 2 what's his name i saw the snake oh you're talking about neil neil yeah i don't know the actor's name but so that's it's interesting right because it's just like imagine death stranding 2 didn't happen and that guy was on this poster right now yeah we'd be like that's gonna be a metal gear solid yeah but then we see the poster for fizzing that came out a couple years ago whenever they first announced it like it was this dude in a trench coat different phase it kind of in shadows or whatever um so we we already knew it wasn't going to literally be solid state you know it's going to be a different take on a more like a dude in a trench coat salt stake wore trench coats every once in a while every now and then every now and then exactly in the london uh chapter but um yeah look how cool that shit looks so cool god yeah maybe it was less trench cody than i remember it here comes the feeling here comes the feeling look at that playstation logo crazy it's crazy man that didn't age well but i i i'm into this there was a lot of rumors about our pats robert pattinson being the guy was it rumors or was it wishful thinking i i mean it's it's because that'd be cool i think it was like educated wishful thinking it's knowing kojima It's knowing statements from Robert Pattinson.
12:05Nick Scarpino:It's doing the connect. I mean, Greg called Jordan Peele collaborating. It's like, there was no rumors about that, but like Greg put things together brilliantly. You know, I want to give him full credit for that. Cause that was crazy. But I will say I'm a little let down that it's not Robert Pattinson just because I'm like, damn, that sounds freaking awesome. He's the villain. I mean, well, I would from my taste of knowing these men's work, I would want it flipped. I would want Skarsgård to be the villain. um oh but see i would say i would say that's a fun role reversal for them to play with yeah for sure coming off of i'm not hitting on this i love this call i love this call it's just uh i i in my head it being robert pattinson i'm like y 'all oh here comes the feeling oh i mean that would be i but i wonder i robert pattinson pattinson right now has to be top tier expensive granted like the last game had norman reedus so might not be a thing i don't know he's not robert pattinson but also a very expensive man to have cast in your very long videos so that's all true but despite what anybody wants to say kojima is it and i don't mean the clown that's good okay like he there are few artists out there that make people foam at the mouth the way kojima does it's on a level of christopher nolan people talk about wanting to work with kojima the way people talk about wanting to work with Nolan.
13:30Nick Scarpino:I'm not putting them on the same level of quality, or I'm not saying the same amount of people, but there aren't, I can't think of many other people like that where you see any actor, and they're like, who would you love to work with? So many bring up Kojima. Oh, yeah. Outside of the conversation of video games, you know? So it's like, I do feel like you get the Kojima discount on that to some extent from Robert Pattinson. because he loves it. We know that. Oh, yeah. I didn't know that part. Yeah. Oh, yeah. He's super into that stuff. Oh, come on. Give him the game. I would love... Coming off of The Odyssey, he played such a good character on The Odyssey, so I kind of like villain Pattinson.
14:08Oh, I mean, I love it too. Oh, I love Pattinson can do it. Seeing Death Stranding to Troy Baker's performance in that, where he is this hammed up, like, very animated villain, like, there's something about Kojima games where the villains have way more to do than the protagonists a lot of the time. You think about Liquid, you think about... I mean, honestly, any of the bosses in the Metal Gear games versus a solid snake. Right. Or you think about Troy Baker's character versus a Norman Reedus. Norman Reedus is quiet the entire time. That's one of my hopes of this is that you give Bill Skarsgård more to do than you have given some of your protagonists in the past, especially Death Stranding.
14:44Because I feel like Norman Reedus didn't get nearly enough to do. I feel like Snake's pretty. He gets a lot of dialogue. Right. Yeah. I think the other characters get animated in a way that Robert Pattinson, I think you allow him to. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
14:57Nick Scarpino:Fair, fair. I think it'll be really fun to watch. But also, though, my boy Billy, you don't get much more. Do you watch it? No. That shit's animated. I imagine he's very animated. That shit's crazy, you know? But hey, either way, these dudes, they got the stuff. Like, I have full confidence in this. And we're just talking about Skarsgård here. There was other cast announcements for visiting as well. Well, these we knew. Did we? Yeah, Charlie Frazier, Don Lee, Mnabi. At least the article says they're producing it. I remember Don Lee being coming. I remember Don Lee. I don't remember, at least the Manami I didn't remember.
15:29Nick Scarpino:She's the woman from Godzilla Minus One. Which I'm like, oh, that's very, very cool. So, into that for sure. Do you know Charlie Frazier? I don't. I Googled it this morning, and I've seen her. She's in movies I've seen. She was in Furiosa, but I don't remember. I don't remember who she was. And she was also in Anyone But You, the rom-com movie with Sidney Sweeney. and uh oh i don't know why you say rom-com movie with sydney sweetie and i immediately i'm like oh yeah i've not seen that um it was on it was like a netflixy thing actually i guess it wasn't the air can you bring up the poster one more time i want to get your thoughts on the poster real quick because i'm i'm hyped the next cold war begins gets me excited i didn't even see that part yeah you see that at the bottom the next cold war begins shit what have i told you as a kid playing Metal Gear Solid 3 that's how I learned about the Cold War me too that's how I learned all about I think a lot of dumb kids yeah yeah and so like for me I'm like this is the next next one is happening this is it he was about to teach me more history yeah yeah um Barrett I also there's a link I put at the bottom of this story too that uh it's just a fun thing like I wonder who took this picture you know this beautiful picture for this yeah this poster for Fizzant because it looks cool it really does look cool it really does it was Kojima that's so fucking awesome the Fizzant poster photo was actually something i casually shot myself during a camera test yes he's smiling yes he's smiling no i think it's just a weird angle because it almost looks like there's teeth i mean here's my thing when you take a picture you smile right i mean when i'm behind the camera yeah sure i'm always smiling i feel pressure when i'm taking a picture it's there's a lot of pressure i get nervous yeah yeah i've learned over time that i'm not great at it yeah the key is you just take at least three and that way it distracts them they look at it they can't focus on the quality of anyone yes they're like which one they're just looking to choose the best one they're not thinking about oh tim fucked up yeah oh 100 % everyone let's move on to story number two this is a report media molecules new game is set to be revealed in 2027 first info leaks this is alex co at mp first four months ago we reported that little big planet developer media molecule was busy toiling away on a new IP with open world content.
17:44For those wondering what happened to the studio, they are still alive and kicking on their new unannounced project. With the studio's last game Dreams having been released in 2020, it's been six years since we've seen anything from the British-based development house. That should be changing in 2027, as that's when Media Molecule will release its next title. According to our sources familiar with the project, Media Molecule's next game is set to be unveiled and released in 2027 as to what kind of game it is it's a social simulation type of game one that's inspired by titles such as animal crossing and harvest moon we're also told it's not a games as a service title though we wouldn't be shocked if it had games as a service elements in it remember game development is dynamic and the goalposts do change while there is a chance media molecules in development project won't get released in 2027 due to how game development is it will be revealed next year at the very least at its core it seems it won't follow the footsteps of dreams while the title inspired various user generated experiences it wasn't enough for sony to keep it afloat just three years in media molecule announced that live service support would end interesting bit shocking how so uh i mean this
18:54Nick Scarpino:is a very negative thing to say just the state of where we're at i thought it would be more likely we hear media molecules closing as opposed to a game is about to be revealed um i'm happy this is the news i hope that this stays true i don't know how off base i am about that but it's just like just kind of reading the tea leaves i feel like that's the vibe when we talk about studios getting shut down or what's going to happen next i see a lot from the audience saying i'll meet a molecules on the chopping block and yeah and i feel like we were having that conversation even before things got as dire as they currently are having said that what they're saying here i do think there's a potential win like if they pull off a social sim game and hit that audience that they're looking for those games are huge like people do love that uh that type of gameplay and that type of experience they're very sticky yeah and playstation i there are so many playstations out there with in homes with people that want to play these type of games and i don't think they're being like very well catered to like think that those games tend to be more obviously animal crossing nintendo but steam i think is a big home to them they end up getting ported over to playstation whatever but a playstation pushed a playstation studios version of that that definitely could work a lot of coulds here you know what i mean i don't think this is like oh man surefire win yeah i think the tough thing is that audience is huge and that audience when you think of in animal crossing or stardew valley they love those games those games are sticky to them i don't know if the playstation audience is that audience i one i correct me if i'm wrong stardew valley is on on playstation so i'm sure that has a pretty good fan base there i'm sure some of these games come over i fear that when i look at what a media molecule life sim game can do it's just not going to match up i think they'll make something neat i think they'll make something charming i think they'll make something great they always make something great honestly um but i'm on more of worried side and then the confident side of how this pans out and granted like i'm waiting for the reveal maybe maybe the reveal turns me around it makes me go oh this is genius this is a fun take on this because media molecule i think always has unique and creative takes on things a fun take i think is important and as dumb as this sounds i feel like a media molecule game is only going to work if it is fun i think that the more they lean into their roots i understand of uh user created content and building within a game like things like dreams i think that uh it has to start with fun and then you could build building on top of that and i think that that's why little big planet worked so well it was like there was fun there inherently and it allowed people to be creative where something like dreams you don't get to have fun unless you're creative first or unless someone else is creative and that's just putting kind of blockers in front of you at a time that is very different than when the little big planet series came out where that novelty was exciting now it's kind of an expectation to some degree and there are just so many more games out there but they've proven like things like uh tear away on vita and um just even with their weird little games within games that they've made oh dude they're fun they have a game called trend that's in uh dreams that when i played that i talked about it all year of like this is a game that'll be maybe not on my top 10 list but it's a game that i'm going to evangelize and go oh y 'all should play this because it's a really clever cute charming puzzle game i think one of the things that makes me worry is that i think these games thrive a lot on handheld specifically like i think there's something about being able to take that thing with you and turn it on easy and turn it off like i don't know how many people really nowadays want to sit down at a desk or sit down on their couch and do the animal crossing style experience that's a really really good point that i totally agree with but in 2027 maybe we get that playstation portable hey i mean i think that i think that would be such a perfect app for that now i don't think we're getting in 2027 i don't either but like i think i think those two things would pair well i don't think that this is coming in 2027 so yeah it's being revealed revealed oh and released unveiled and released in 2027 so yeah but even they're like who knows yeah who knows it comes out who knows so much can change um but again i i think it's it's great that this news is seemingly positive for media molecule they're very talented they make very cool stuff and very unique stuff in a ecosystem that is getting progressively less special as the news go on so they add they add a level of identity and granted a big part of that identity feels like it's a remnant of the playstation 3's identity very much which is the scary thing about it it's like man i love you because i associate little big planet with you but LittleBigPlanet is like such a two generations ago sort of experience.
23:48Not experience. I think a LittleBigPlanet can still do well today, but I guess the hype of LittleBigPlanet happened two generations ago. I think they need something right now that can hit for people, and this could maybe be it. I'm fingers crossed that it is. Yep. Let's move on to story number three, but before we do, I want to tell you about our sponsors. Come one, come all.

25:44Nick Scarpino:The trailer drops. It's a state of play. We see the PlayStation Studios logo come up. Yeah. Boom. The sack is back. The audience goes mild. Here comes the feeling. Here comes the feeling. The sack is back. You think the audience would be mild about the sack coming back? Because the sack has barely left. Like, Sackboy's a big adventure. It came out at the beginning of the generation. I can't get away from the sack, honestly. You can never get away from the sack. God, it's crazy you say that. What spots will come after this? That was, like, about to be seven years ago. Oh, my God. Jesus fucking...
26:24Nick Scarpino:It was six years ago. No, it's still 2024. Right? Right? Right? It really hit me. We were looking at the calendar yesterday in the meeting. It was like, oh, Henry's birthday is coming up. Yeah. Kevin's kid's turning two. I'm like, no. Kevin was just on paternity leave. No. For me, it's thinking that Alan Wake 2, that game came out in fall 2024. It's about to be 2027. I feel like Alan Wake 2 just came out. It did. Alan Wake 2 came out two weeks ago, brother. The homie Ari was just here visiting helping me play Alan Wake 2 because it was too scary. I just beat metaphor re Fantasio like three months ago, right?
27:06I love the hoodie, by the way. Oh, thank you. I love this hoodie too. The hoodie and the necklace are both metaphor re Fantasio. Shout out Insert Coin for sending these over, keeping me fashionable. I love that they are keeping you dripped out.
27:16Nick Scarpino:They really are. I love that every time Greg sends through, they're like, hey, does anyone want this new drop of Instacoin? Bless is there within seconds. Yes, I'm like, Instacoin's doing a drop? I'm there. But now I have a problem where I am literally running out of closet space. Oh, yeah. So I got to figure out which like what clothes do i need to like get out of here goodwill baby man um let's bring up some super chats for you wash post hero says um from wash post hero late birthday tax thank you so much all of you kf has really helped me through the last year ivf and unemployed recently my wife is pregnant and i'm starting to work in a week happy birthday happy birthday man and congrats on the the good news there yeah that's really cool um dexter schwarzler says i have i have a crazy string board theory for connecting xbox and kojima collaborating with christopher nolan how do i share this with y 'all also love you barrett um i would say blue sky it blue sky and tag me yeah yeah because i want to hear that does sound cool i'll open my blue sky um street shadow says if all this is true maybe this could be more in the realm of pacopia than in animal crossing creativity and building but not to dreams level yeah yeah i imagine it will be something like that um i wonder are these gonna is this gonna be an original world with original characters or are you doing an animal crossing with sack boy i i mean i think that's the right answer you know i don't think that no sack boy okay like i i think look i get that people want new things but i also think that we're at a place right now that we got to make real calls and it's like all right sack boy will guarantee us at least this is it worth betting on a new thing and i don't think sack boy is like the hottest thing ever in fact i think sack boy is lukewarm yeah you know but uh i feel like lukewarm is a safer better bet than trying something new like i for where they're at right now i i i don't think the sack has the cachet anymore like i think i think if we're putting out a platformer yeah put put the sack in it it's not just the sack though because it's the sack he has his little puppy sack you know cares about them i forgot those but it's the music it's the look of little big planet it's just it's that it's the aesthetic i think i forgot that like yeah the last one was all about like a lot of pop music and stuff well there's like some pop music levels yeah there's like three or four do you think ed sheeran will be in the next one oh my god let me tell you put macklemore in the next one he went out alone because his band left it is all the everybody do you hear this there are there are opener left every opener one by one and then his band's like oh yeah we're out too so he went up alone he just went up alone and like that makes a lot of sense because you know if you know the history of you know like Ireland and you know how They stand on a lot of shit His stance is insane But the better thing bless The better thing is that there are apparently Like there's like a you can Audition to be an opener and people Are just trolling the shit out of it That's fantastic It's all fantastic And everybody knows I'm a big Malcolm More fan unabashed I don't give a shit what Y 'all have to say but god Damn two of the funniest things I've ever heard in my life one was back in 2013 the first time i heard i wish he would mackle less that's good that's good and the other is this week seeing all the people being like oh man like this is one of those times we got to separate the art from the artist the same thing yeah the other way because i saw somebody like they're playing macklemore but they had him on mute and they're like hey i gotta separate the art from the artist i love the art i love the artist so fucking funny i don't want with art macklemore has some good songs though he's got some good we gotta ease up on macklemore like he has some good stuff he has a song that came out like a couple years ago called heinz hall that is about um like bet on this yeah there's always been on this and so he's he's he's a good egg um let me do one more super chat before you move on i mean science dog official says super chatting to tell bless he has to watch it and welcome to this is what i'll say i don't like clowns and i'm sorry to say it i don't i'm not saying you're a bad person if you're a clown i'm not saying that you're wrong if you do like clowns i'm just saying me personally i i by my own choice and volition i don't want to watch a movie that has a scary clown in it tim correct me if i'm wrong it's been a long time since i watched it chapter one I'm pretty sure Doesn't he turn into a fucking freak ass Spider at some point too Oh that would fuck up That's the OG it The old it Did he turn into a pirate at the very end I don't remember I don't remember if he turned into the 2018 one But Yeah he turned into a fuck ass spider Yeah no fuck that No I'm never watching that Omg LXS, Skarsgård, Wahlbergs and Dobris If there's brothers out there like martial arts forms nick knows about it that's really funny yep um and then i'll do one more from nader who tater who says hey bless did you ever get a new blender after your old one broke a few months back if not here's five dollars toward your new one hashtag bless blender fund i did get a new blender and so i i appreciate you checking in i don't it's crazy the details that y 'all latch on to i don't even remember saying on a show that my blender broke when did i even say that that's so funny why do you know that why do you know why do you know about my blender michael hyam story number three grand theft auto 6 is getting a vinyl cd and streaming soundtrack with 34 original tracks this is chris scolian at video games chronicle gta 6 is getting an official soundtrack rockstar has confirmed gta 6 been listening to rhino non-stop today yeah good track travis scott man does he got it um let's see how do i say this one cat real cat real this is like a six lakh situation i don't know if you know about six lakh his name is black oh yeah yeah yeah but the b is a six yeah catriel uh and paco amoroso pink pantherist fredigan and etienne de cresci uh sexy magic is the song i know pink pantherist i like pink pantherist a lot oh i know fredigan also yeah fredigan is also pretty good uh morgan wallen last thing you need raw alejandro makakoa i was gonna say makoko you might be closer no you're right i mean you're Makakoa somebody which tells us what's right uh 2000 and then Keith Richards Bright Lights Big City the vinyl and CD soundtracks can also be pre-ordered now from the official GTA 6 the album website this includes a 10 pound 99 CD soundtrack or a 45 pound vinyl soundtrack and 109 pound limited edition vinyl soundtrack the limit the limited edition vinyl soundtrack comes with two transparent magenta discs filled with blue liquid as well as exclusive artwork i just had to check that to make sure it's keith richards of the rolling stones it is in fact keith richards remaking bright lights big city in like a new style oh that's cool i might have to check that out this week a number of musical artists posted on keith richards also in pirates of the caribbean isn't he johnny dub's dad i couldn't tell you barrett i was so young when i watched pirates yeah yeah that's crazy that's nuts i thought you were gonna be like wasn't he in saints row four and i was gonna be like uh that's keep david i really thought we were going there oh god this week a number of musical artists started posting instagram photos of gta 6 illustrations but didn't reveal what this entails all the artists who posted the images are featured in the six tracks available to listen today uh revealing that they were promoting the fact that they had contributed new music for the album details on the other 28 tracks in the album which is co-produced by atlantic records have not yet been provided um on top of this there's also like spotify ads uh that it looked like they were in times square um that are going up in collaboration with gta6 as well so it's happening it's happening very cool i i love seeing rockstar like really flex with the marketing stuff going to netflix for the premiere of the trailer stuff like partnering with spotify it's like they're going like where the mass mainstream audiences are for uh different forms of media to kind of be like yo we're here and we're gonna outsell all y 'all motherfuckers right netflix spotify what else is in that realm that you go to i mean there's not much right like those are kind of the the big dogs if i what are the paid things at the very least like we got um youtube but that's free yeah it's like what do you yeah what are you going to do with youtube if i go to my streaming funny netflix and spotify the first two apps that appear on my streaming folder then you got twitch then you got youtube and they're not going to do band camp tiktok yeah yeah doing a thing with tiktok and especially with the integrations in the game yeah or with the what it's got going on that tiktok i think tiktok is the next one no because then they're going to post things and then the grandma's sitting at home on tiktok they're going to scroll through and it's gonna they're gonna think it's real they have a seizure We can't have that.
37:06We can't have that, man. It's, you know, there's already a rotted TikTok brain going on. It's just going to add further to it. It's going to be bad.
37:14Nick Scarpino:This, you know, the partnership with Spotify leads more credence to the idea of a radio station being your own music. Oh, Spotify station. Which is awesome. Like, can they just confirm it? Because that's just great. I like it. I'm going to be a weirdo, though, and say that I actually really don't mind if they don't have it at launch. because there's something about being in the world of gta 6 and being forced to listen to music they have in the game y 'all know me and video game music even with license stuff there's not a chance in hell i use the spotify thing a single time i just want them to have it because i think that it is cool and i knew i know a lot of other people like that would love it would like that and i also just think it's a cool thing for them to do like i think they're like that it's a sleek integration where i know you can use spotify on any game and just have it but like the idea of getting in the car and when you turn on the radio that's the only time that your spotify stations playing i love that that's that's where video games should be i agree i know i'm not touching that thing with a 10-foot pole i need the experience yeah that's my thing is i want to listen to the original songs i want to listen to like the songs he put there i want to be in vice city if i wanted to be in san francisco i'd turn off my screens yeah but guess what i'm on my screens for a reason put me in your world um and honestly like more games i think back in the day had that kind of integration i remember playing fifa on playstation 3 and there was something i could do to where it would pull from the music files that i had saved onto my ps3 and play those like mid-game just randomly even the og xbox if i remember correctly you could you could burn like on like from your disc onto the console itself into the xbox and rip the song yeah like i miss that type of shit man that was great there there was a bit of that forgive me if you guys just mentioned it like you could at least i remember on playstation 4 like have spotify and play Spotify because I remember doing that with like Rocket League of like playing my own shit and then going into Rocket League and still being able to.
39:09Nick Scarpino:Well, yeah, that even now you just play music. But the difference here would be what we're asking for is an actual integration where it's not just constantly playing. It's only playing when music would play. Yeah. Okay. I love that shit. Let's move on to story number four. Hyper Light Studio Heart Machine lays off nearly everyone after publishing deal for unannounced game falls through. This is Andy Chalk at PC Gamer. Heart Machine, the developer of the Hyper Light games and Possessors, has laid off nearly everyone at the studio following the collapse of a deal with an unnamed publisher for funding of its next project.
39:42Quote, I have very difficult news today, studio founder Alex Preston wrote on LinkedIn. We had been working on an unannounced title funded by a publisher. This week, they decided to no longer move forward with it. Without this key income for the studio, any other immediate prospects for other funds, nearly everyone at the studio had to be laid off. It's devastating. Everyone will be provided with as much support as possible, including assisting with placement. If you don't have any roles for extraordinarily talented, kind people, please reach out and we will coordinate. End quote. Heart Machine's debut game, Hyper Light Drifter, launched to critical and commercial success in 2016.
40:22The studio's follow-up, Solar Ash, didn't quite meet the same acclaim when it arrived in 2022, and Heart Machine ran into trouble a few years later, ending development of Hyper Light Breaker while it was still in early access and laying off employees. Released just after those layoffs were imposed, the action platformer Possessors earned mostly positive reviews on Steam, but not very many of them. It's not clear what comes next for Heart Machine. Preston said the studio will keep pushing to find a path but also warned that at this point he's not sure what's next for heart machine to survive very sad news very very sad and man it's tough out there it
40:57Nick Scarpino:really is and you know you work so hard and for so long on these projects and if they come out and just don't hit the way that you need them to especially for small teams it's like this is this is how it goes and then it just makes it more and more difficult to be able to get it right the next time like like looking at possessors as an example of that like i was so hyped for that so cool so cool and it just missed the mark for me like it really did not live up to the expectations that i had going into it um but man this this is tough yeah of course heart goes out to people who are losing their jobs and of course seeing a studio that has a beloved classic game a beloved classic indie game and hyper light drifter to see time move on and them not be able to follow up on it in like a way that continues that legacy and allows them to flourish as a studio it always sucks and it's that thing of video game development being so difficult to keep up with as far as trends changing technology changing things moving budgets getting tougher uh audience demand changing it's such a cutthroat industry to make content for um and i hate to read stories like this because we i mean in this in this office we have somebody who's a super fan of heart machine being andy cortez yeah who like you know he loved hyper light drifter it's probably one of his favorite indie games he loves solar ash i played solar ash i like solar ash he loves solar ash right like he was there for hyper light breaker he was there he played possessors and he gave his review of possessors he didn't really like it that much but he's somebody that played all their titles yeah there are people that really care about the studio's game uh games and so it really really sucks to to read this news more sad news for you story number five the studio behind mind's eye is closing following latest round of layoffs this is lewis parker at kotaku build a rocket boy the leslie benzie's and mark gerhard uh owned studio behind the widely criticized gta like mind's eye is reportedly closing down for good multiple rounds of layoffs a collective grievance led by independent workers union of great britain and accusations of crunch and unlawful employee monitoring, it's fair to say that Build-A-Rocket Boy's journey has been a controversial one.
43:08Well, said journey has now seemingly come to a conclusion. Despite multiple attempts to transform Mind's Eye into a game that people might actually buy, multiple employees at Build-A-Rocket Boy have reported today that the studio is winding down permanently. Build-A-Rocket Boy level designer, Liam Shannon, QA analyst, Elizabeth Tia Neva, release manager, Michaela Emsley, and production QA analyst Cameron Deves have stated over the past 24 hours on LinkedIn that their time at the company is coming to an end. However, this isn't simply a case of further layoffs at the studio that continues to operate.
43:43A LinkedIn post from Dan Hawkins, Build a Rocket Boy's principal talent acquisition partner, straightforwardly stated that along with the rest of his colleagues, he'll be helping, quote, Barb through, Build a Rocket Boy, I see, through till the very end as the studio winds down permanently.
44:01Nick Scarpino:wild playing with people's lives yeah you know we're just fucking getting people to to work for a plan that you know you have no faith in and that you're just gonna fuck up every step of the way it's disgusting stuff this sucks yeah this sucks this is not how this is supposed to be this is one where i don't know if it's jason streyer or somebody else i want the inside scoop because from the outside already you can tell how messy all this shit is when you're talking about putting out a dlc expansion that's going to explain how they were fucked it's like what's going on here what are you doing this is weird behavior coming out of a studio and from the leadership of a studio um and so you know this is one that i think reading the tea leaves you see coming but nonetheless it makes you sad for the people that probably just wanted to show up to the studio to make video games right an amount of developers that are here to continue their work in a games industry that they want so desperately to work in because they love video games.
44:58You have all those people that work there and you have leadership that doesn't give a fuck about them. So hate to see it. Story number six, Valor Mortis will be$39.99. This comes directly from a tweet from Valor Mortis on Twitter. They put up a statement saying, greetings soldiers. We have had many discussions over the past year about the price of Valor Mortis. We believe that the game has the quality fidelity and playtime in its 20-hour story to go toe-to-toe with many full-priced titles still this fall is stacked and there's high demand for your time and money that's why valor mortis is launching on october 13th at 39.99 many of you have also asked us about pre-orders but we want to let the completed version of our game do the talking you'll be able to buy it when you have a full picture of valor mortis's quality creativity and craft at launch We think you'll appreciate how we're breaking new ground for Souls-likes in first-person action games.

45:54The world of Valor Mortis has even more stories to tell. Today we're announcing our Deluxe Edition. It'll include a major story DLC, launching next year, and several cosmetic packs from now till then for$60. We also have multiple free updates planned that will add more ways to enjoy Valor Mortis in the weeks and months ahead. We want to thank you again for helping us build a game we're extremely proud of. We can't wait to share Valor Mortis with you on October 13th.
46:20Nick Scarpino:This is a straight up round of applause worthy. Like they nailed this. The messaging is awesome. The results of it are even better, but I love the confidence here. I love understanding. Like this is like such a direct other side of the conversation compared to the last two stories we read. Granted, anything can happen. Y 'all people still need to show up and support these games, but this is a team that has a vision, has the confidence in the game that they've made. and has a business plan where they're like, we need to figure out ways to make this succeed. And they're talking straight to the people that are having the conversations about the fall being busy with games and what that could look like and what that means for a game like Valor Mortis of how can it find any chance at succeeding to the point it needs to.
47:05Nick Scarpino:And this price point,$40, that is excellent. In a world where games are 70, yeah 40 is so much lower than i would ever imagine a game like this to come out especially when they're talking about we believe in the fidelity and the quality in the 20 hour story it's like they're putting it all out there where they're just like y 'all just played wolverine yeah you know what i mean for 70 dollars this is 40 dollars we believe in this shit i am so impressed yeah i'm i'm i'm impressed by the sentence here we think you'll appreciate how we're breaking new ground for souls likes and first person action games that's a level of confidence that i'm like yo i hope y 'all live up to that that's very cool i i want a game that's going to push those things and you know i hear andy talk about his excitement for it it seems like it's my kind of game even though when i watch trailers there's something about watching it that isn't doing it as strongly for me but i want to give it a shot because i think conceptually it sounds cool the world seems cool and i think andy's played multiple demos and he seems very like he's very into it he's very high on yeah so that makes me think that i'll probably be high on it um and so i'm like yo show me what you got yeah i'm excited absolutely and just talking about the pricing on this 40 dollars being so so incredible here like i love the uh the variable pricing that we're seeing and i think it really does highlight when games are coming out at 70 dollars and it feeling egregious and crazy but uh star wars z-com i was looking at that and uh the last couple days because I've been considering dabbling into it.
48:36Nick Scarpino:I really want to. Get into the grid. It's about the time. The grid calls. But I was looking at it and I was like, I don't know that I want to ask for a code for this one. If I'm going to play it, I'm just going to buy it. And I was like, it's$40 or$50? What the hell? Yeah. That's awesome, man. That's so cool and such a great call for that game. And this is different, but Ocarina of Time,$50 for digital. And Nintendo's been doing that with the$10 more for physical. but like there's a world where nintendo is putting out an ocarina of time remake and it's not the 70 dollars yeah that's really wild i like seeing companies explore the scale of price like if games can go up to 80 for gta 6 like yeah let's see what a 40 game can be what a 30 game can be 20 right we had a couple wins last year when you had uh indie titles i think hollow night silksong was one of the ones that were like yo we're 20 bucks man explore the scale and see what you can do with that and how you can actually create a rally of players that want to support your game valor mortis coming out for 40 i think that's going to create at least a little bit of groundswell people being like oh hell yeah like i don't have the money to be buying these 70 games back to back to back i'll pay for a 40 game 20 hours it's a soul's like first person game with 3d graphics all this yeah let's let's do it yeah tim valor mortis being a great game would be big for this but if i wanted something smaller say the tiniest news i needed to know about where would i go you go to the we news channel story number seven i got distracted by something here i don't know what i said but ocarina of time 60 digital i've been physical okay i don't know what did i say you said i said my bad but yeah well still my point stands the point i was making is it$60?
50:21There's a Nintendo showing out here. You know what I mean? It's still a fair point, though. It is a good point. It's one of those, like, I look at that remake, especially, like, what they're doing to it that seems maybe a step further than Star Fox. And I'm like, yeah, they'll probably sell that. I don't think it is.
50:37Nick Scarpino:I think it's exactly what Star Fox is. We'll see. We'll see. I'm excited for it, either way. I was thinking about this because Nintendo typically gives one code. if we're very lucky it'll give two codes gta 6 i don't think any of us know if we're getting rose the worst case scenario for me personally nobody and for us personally i guess nobody else gives a fuck but if if we don't get zelda codes and we do get gta 6 codes those things are going to line up at the exact same time i know and i don't want that to happen i watched all of the the zelda gameplay again last night and i had this exact same thought this exact same thought yeah and i I was just like, it's going to be a bloodbath of us fighting for who gets to play Zelda Ocarina.
51:22Because, like, usually, you know, Nintendo games, it'll most likely be Tim. I think it defaults to me, but I'm always open.
51:28Nick Scarpino:There's always the conversation. I never assume it's going to be me. Greg Miller is, like, maybe the biggest Ocarina fan here? I think Ocarina is the type of thing that, like, everybody is. Everybody is. But, like, I think it's Greg Zelda. whereas i don't think any of us would say it's our zelda no but we all love we fucking love yeah it'll be interesting to see what happens when we get there i'm almost like yo hold off on the gta 6 codes but then if we don't get i don't know it's a whole who knows uh we news let's start off from one that's like that's not necessarily we because i included a whole statement for this one because this is a big one after 17 years bobby is also leaving ign this is bobby amos bobby 1984 84 yes uh from ign from ign from back in the day watching the call of duty gameplay videos an icon i used to love watching this guy play call of duty um he posted a whole instagram post and i i was gonna only include a few sentences and then i was gonna include half of it and then i read the whole thing i was like i gotta include the whole thing so strap him he posted on instagram man it's been a couple of days now and i'm finally in the acceptance phase of me no longer being an employee at IGN Entertainment.
52:41I was laid off slash terminated this past Monday after 17 plus years of service. That's a long time to work for one company, and I tricked myself into believing that IGN would be the place I call home until I was ready to retire. I now leave with nothing but gratitude, and I appreciate all the experiences and the journey I've been on. I'm going to hold my head high and be proud of all the things I accomplished there. I was a trailblazer, and I feel like I set the bar high when it comes to the evolution of video content for them. If I remember correctly, I was the first to do gameplay commentaries when at the time we only posted one minute long gameplay clips.
53:13Mind you, I wasn't even hired to do that. I did it because I wanted to play video games at work all day, lol. I'm proud that I got to be a voice and image on screen for people that looked and sounded like me. Some of my favorite times were when I recorded my Call of Duty gameplay commentaries. Boy, I loved COD back then. That was such a fun time. I also appreciate all the lifelong bonds and friendships I've created over the years. Hell, I jumped out of a plane not once but twice in the same day with a crazy group of ign folks what black persona does crazy stuff like that black person oh a black person uh does crazy stuff like that lol let me wrap this up because i'm starting i'm starting to break i don't know where i go from here but i have faith that the lord will guide me during these uncertain times one thing that is certain is that i have my wife kids family and friends supporting me and when you have good folks in your corner uh things will be fine so with that this is your boy bobby 1984 signing off and we gone gone gone that's that was for my cod folks dude i just want to say i fucking love this
54:15Nick Scarpino:man he is incredible this is fucking bullshit this is fucking bullshit i don't know there's a lot to talk about with ign layoffs and there's a lot of maybe i don't get it doesn't fucking matter he deserves better Bobby deserves so much better than this 17 plus years not just of work but of incredible work we might know of the Call of Duty gameplay and all that stuff and that stuff was awesome iconic Mike was in here I'm sure he'll come back and talk about it in a sec because he grew up watching that and loving that stuff I was next to Bobby as he was doing that stuff he was trailblazing he was the guy that's like I'm going to do something that IGN is not doing because I want to and people loved that stuff loved it but beyond that beyond my first day at igm as an intern so many years ago bobby was one of the first people if not the first person i talked to just happened to be he was walking in as i was sitting there waiting for fran to come uh like pick me up and fran was so freaking late because he's fran um but bobby says what's up was so cool to me and i ended up sitting right next to him and he was essentially my like onboarding guy he was the guy that taught me what everything was the systems like what IGN like working at IGN actually meant especially on the video team how the systems all worked what I needed to know what mattered what didn't all that stuff and he was so patient he was so cool and as I progressed at IGN and me and Alfredo were being idiots and just having fun and doing all this dumb stuff he supported me every single chance he would any dumb favor I had to ask him he was always right there willing to help I I had him do so much dumb shit he was just so helpful for me the amount of times that he would pick up slack of my dumb shit or pick up slack of me doing work i should be doing so i could do the tim getting's dumb stuff i appreciate him so much and i just really want to give him a shout out because people most people won't know what he did like people know the call of duty stuff but he was the one that would publish things to ign he was though if there of a video was on the website or the youtube or anything it was him and back in the day when the video team was eight people everything went through him the team expanded where like the even the publication uh teams and the media teams that kind of expanded to as you know more and more platforms came up but it was all on his back it was all on the work that he put in and the shit that he would have to deal with on a technical level just to make sure that videos were happening when trailers would come in any trailer he was the first one to get it he was the first one to ingest it and throughout 17 years the amount of different levels of video encoding and uh learning new all this stuff there's just so much shit and it's like i i'm ranting right now i just want to say like bobby worked his ass off and bobby is such an important part of the foundation and core of why ign would even work and without him so much wouldn't that that anything you like about that website and being able to enjoy the videos wouldn't have happened.
57:14Nick Scarpino:So this is fucking bullshit. I love you, Bobby. Very well said. Shout out, Bobby. More we news for you via Jeff Keighley. Mads Mikkelsen will star in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4. 1:00:53Nick Scarpino:Okay. That's going to be the most hype shit ever. Oh, that's really fun. I saw that on the calendar. I was wondering what that was. Because there's, I think, another Sonic thing happening at the same time, possibly. I'll talk to you after this. I don't even know if it's like a public thing. Let's hop into Super Chats. We got a few here. Let's start with Nigel Martin, who says, Playing GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas on Xbox. Having my own radio stations felt like I was the girl from Mixtape. Nas for GTA 3 Daft Punk for Vice City for example I mean yeah dude hell yeah come on I think that was one of the things I remember being very jealous of for people who were playing on PC or Xbox is that they got to make their own radio stations because you couldn't do that on Playstation my friend burned me a CD of the music from GTA 3 like when GTA 3 came out but he also included Scary Movie by Eminem and Royce yes and and it was just in the middle of the album and it was my favorite I loved it I love that song that's so fucking good yeah uh but it it uh made me think that that song was in gta and i would always like wait for it to come on i'm like where is it i've never heard it in the game and it's because my friend just like added an extra song do you know what's funny is that in like 0809 whenever 808 and heartbreak came out i got it on linewire allegedly and in that was a song by connie west called scary movie that was not in that album what the hell It was an unreleased Kanye West song where he's like rapping and including a bunch of scary movie references.
1:02:22But I thought that was part of the album for like a year.
1:02:25Nick Scarpino:That's such a bizarre. So that's a weird coincidence. You were just in the Matrix in a weird way. That's a really weird coincidence. That is very, very weird. Yeah, we got to exchange the scary movie songs. Yeah. Altrio writes in and says, I'd like to shout out a game coming to Switch 1 and 2. It's called Maestro. Originally a VR game. You conduct an orchestra with tons of classic songs. its most recent dlc included attack on titan we watched a trailer for this and it looks awesome yeah i need to try it um zagarians says question for blessing for mtg what collab would you like to see see with them i personally would like dmc that would go hard i i mean i think i've said this multiple times but elden ring or just a from soft collab i think would be very successful and be very good um and then zelda anything that's like a fantasy world is gonna work in mtg i think it works the least when you're doing just non-fantasy shit in mtg but a zelda i think would be i disagree put the office in there i mean i'm sure they probably had a secret later they have the craziest collaboration have i showed you my sonic deck barrett i want to see it i want you to at some point show me your deck i don't want to see your sonic deck because then you're going to show me chows and like my eyes are just going to glaze over and be like okay like what did these guys even i don't think i put the chows in the deck because it didn't fit they weren't a natural oh because you know they aren't higgledies i get it um there ain't no higgledies me me my magic group of friends recently did a deck exchange where it was like a secret santa where you get a random person and you have to create a deck for them and then we play with those that's very cool my friend meg made me a chun lee deck very cool there's a chun lee card in magic the gathering and so i got a chun lee commander deck it's really you guys need to start calling each other magicians i just insist no i come on no gotta do it uh that's what i do i call you a magician that's that belittles actual magicians tim damn wow that's fucked up barrett that comes from a guy who doesn't know what a chow is grow up um silver j hawkins says recommendation for all kf friends widow and find your voice two incredibly cute and fun games that everyone everyone will enjoy note that find your voice is free cool um sasquatch oni says love tim saying bill is slightly off-putting lmao handsome dude great actor but there's something behind those eyes curious to see gameplay and how he looks in action when it comes to a Kojima title.
1:04:47Oh, yeah. Carbs guy says, just glad to hear Barrett is still alive. I made it. We love Barrett being alive here. He's on the battlefield. I discovered a lot about myself the last day. The things I like and don't like. Yeah. Let me tell you. I didn't know. I didn't know. I honestly didn't.
