In short

Kind of Funny Games Daily (Nov 18, 2025) covers: (1) first-look images for the live-action Legend of Zelda movie (Link and Zelda), (2) an alleged legal dispute involving Krafton and Subnautica 2 founders over a $250M earnout, (3) Capcom’s confidence that Resident Evil Requiem won’t have Monster Hunter Wilds-like PC performance problems, plus shorter “news” items (Game Informer returning to newsstands, Yoko Taro updates, Concord reverse-engineering paused, Game Pass additions, and MMO/player-count news).

Guests

Paris Lilly (main host/guest). Background: long-time gaming personality (“gaming dad”); discusses Zelda history from early entries (Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time) and has played Resident Evil Requiem at Gamescom.

Key claims

  • Zelda movie images look “Lord of the Rings”-like; Nintendo will “nail it” (Paris predicts 70/30).
  • Link likely must talk; voice could be risky (Tom and Jerry movie example).
  • Krafton allegedly delayed Subnautica 2 to avoid paying an earnout; CEO allegedly used ChatGPT to brainstorm ways to cancel it.
  • Capcom says RE Requiem’s PC performance risk is low because gameplay/architecture/network features differ from Monster Hunter Wilds.

Notable examples

  • Tom and Jerry (talking animals) as a caution about Link speaking.
  • Lord of the Rings as the vibe benchmark for Hyrule/Middle-earth.
  • Monster Hunter Wilds PC issues as the comparison point for Requiem.

2:46Krafton's CEO allegedly used ChatGPT to fire Subnautica devs, and Resident Evil Requiem shouldn't have any issues on PC. Plus, Paris Lilly is here. We'll have all that and more because this is Kind of Funny Games Daily.

3:10What up, doe? Welcome in to today's Kind of Funny Games Daily for Tuesday, November 18th, 2025. I'm one of your show hosts, Snowbike Mike. And today I am joined by one of my favorites, my main man, one of my gaming dads, and the ultimate dude in the video game world, Mr. Paris Lilly. Paris, what up, homie? How are you? What is up, homie? I have to say, whenever we get together, it's a great time. But we need Gary. Where's Gary? We need Gary. Where's Gary on this lovely Tuesday? One can only guess and think about the kind of situations Gary's in right now. I'm sure it's something fun. Paris, how are you doing, man?

3:53Happy soon-to-be holidays. We're kind of almost there. You can pretty much say we're there for the holiday season, but happy holidays to you and the family. How are you feeling? Good, good. Happy holidays to you. I mean, Thanksgiving is next week, right? Am I tripping? It's crazy. Time is flying. You're almost there, Paris. That's right. You and the family hopefully got some time together ready to rock and roll, but most importantly, we get some time together to talk about the video game news, and we got a lot of stories, but parents, you also did miss out yesterday. We did go through the game awards nominees for the big show for the TGA with Jeff Keighley.

4:29Did you have any ones you want to call out? Maybe some snubs, maybe some big wins, some flowers that were deserved. Talk to me. I thought the nominations were pretty spot on across the board. Nothing really stuck out to me except one thing. I do have one snub that I want to publicly address. And Andy touched on this game a little bit yesterday because I know he's been jumping and playing it and loving it. But it's the altars. And, you know, we go back a couple of years, you and I, with the altars, we saw that partner preview. I picked it in the fantasy critic draft. I love the game. The fact that Alex Jordan did not get nominated for playing 11 characters in that game.

5:14I was I was honestly shocked. I was very shocked. And that has nothing against anyone else that was nominated because anyone that wins deserves it. All those performances are great. But I just thought he deserved that public recognition of getting nominated for pulling that off. Because, again, if you play the alters, him playing 11 different versions of Yann, if no one told you that one guy did it, you'd be shocked. Like, really, one guy did this because that was how distinct all those performances were. So that would probably be my only thing that stood out to me when, when I saw it. Other than that, everything seemed pretty spot on.

5:53Like I said, expedition 33 is probably going to win everything, but you will obviously see in December. But yeah, I thought the nominations looked good. I like that Paris. Yeah. Shout out right there. That's a nice little, some flowers deserved a great voice acting one on the altars. I know you've been riding for that one for quite some time. Is there a game out of the big six that you haven't played this year that you might want to give a little time to, over the holidays, Paris? Expedition 33. I've not played it. I know it's great. Like so many people have had such high praise for it that I just know how good it is just hearing various people praise it over and over.

6:29But yeah, I mean, with this year, just being so crazy with all the different games, I have not played it. And I just feel like that's something I'll probably jump into over the holiday as a part of my, you know, my back catalog of games I need to play. But it's on the list for sure. Okay. Of course, to all of our viewers out there live on Twitch and on YouTube, let us know in the comments right now. Let us know in the live chat. What game out of the big six have you missed that you might want to jump into during your break? Paris, we got a lot of things to talk about. So let's jump right into it because, of course, this is the kind of funny games daily each and every weekday.

8:57It's time for some news.

9:03Today we have six stories. A banker's dozen! Shout out to my main man Kevin Coelho for carrying that while I catch my breath. Of course, story number one, Legend of Zelda movie first look reveals Link and Zelda in live action. This coming from Elise Schaefer at Variety. The first look at Sony and Nintendo's live action Legend of Zelda movie is here. Images released on Monday on the Nintendo Today app offer sneak peeks at young actors Bo Bragginson and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, who play the magical princess Zelda and green-clad swordsman Link, respectively, in the film adaptation of the beloved video game.

9:49The photos show Link and Zelda standing in a lush green field. Zelda with her signature bow and arrow. And both actors sporting costumes complete with Hylian ears. Hylian ears. Paris, we saw this yesterday. Of course, now we get to talk about it. How good does this look? Does it give you Lord of the Rings vibes or what? Oh, 100 % Lord of the Rings vibes. It looks like they're out in New Zealand in the Shire somewhere. So it looks good. It looks really good. The character in Zelda looks good. Link looks good. I'm definitely excited to see more of this huge Zelda fan. So the fact that this is now coming to the big screen, yeah, I really look forward to it.

10:29Are you, yeah. Talk to me about the big Zelda fan, right? Paris. Of course, we look at a lot of video games getting adapted to the big screen, getting adapted to these TV series. What is the thoughts, the feelings after this long time franchise now getting a big time live action movie? Yeah. I mean, I'm an OG. I go all the way back. I believe it was 87 was the original Legend of Zelda. One of two of my just favorite games of all time is Link to the Past and then Ocarina of Time. Just like Ocarina of Time for me back in 98. It was just transformative moment. It was probably the first game that was hyped.

11:07There was all this hype for it. And then it exceeded the hype for me when I actually got to play it. And yeah, just since that point, obviously Majora's Mask on down the line, And obviously here to where we now with with Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, Zelda has just been a part of my gaming life pretty much since the beginning. Right. So I know these characters. I know that world. And to see this now become an actual movie, you know, I I take like normally, you know, back in the day with video game movies, like, oh, no, they're going to screw it up. But you saw the love and care that Nintendo was able to give Mario with that movie.

11:42and obviously we're about to get the Galaxy movie now, I think they know the assignment. They know what they need to do to be able to pull this off. So, yeah, it's anticipated. It's really important. What is it, May 27? It's coming out, something like that. Dexter writes in with the Super Chat, and just like I asked you, curious to hear about Paris' thoughts on not just only the movie, but his history with the series. So, nice, you and I, Dexter, were on the same page asking Paris that. Of course, Paris, a lot of people in the live chat right now are talking about link right now will he speak what is going to be the vibe right what is that what's the back and forth between zelda and link how will this go because of course now we got i mean you look at it it's like you sure that guy's not going to talk right in front of me right now so it's funny you bring that up because my son and i were actually talking about this uh yesterday day and I was saying to him he shouldn't like my thought is he shouldn't talk but I think he can't he has to he he has to talk I can't imagine them doing a two hour plus movie and Link doesn't talk but the the warning for this I think is did you ever see the Tom and Jerry movie no even hear of it yeah so they did a Tom and Jerry movie and they talked and it was freaking weird because obviously they never talk talk in the you know the standard cartoon so i think there's that cautionary tale there with that could they screw this up by putting a voice to link because like myself all of us have in our head what links should sound like so when you break that seal on that and now you've basically made it canon this is link talking it's it's either going to be great or it's going to be terrible yeah there's no other way around it uh let's talk a little bit more about the game history and now the film Paris as someone who is not a big Zelda guy myself and hasn't really experienced many of the stories with Link and Zelda can you maybe talk to me what do you want to see out of this movie what are the touchstone characters that have to be in there what's the storyline that you would love to see or that you would make up in your own mind to bring on to the film what is the must-haves here well first first of all you've got to establish Hyrule.

14:00We got to have Hyrule. It's kind of like when we compare it to Lord of the Rings to finally get Middle Earth, and it felt like Middle Earth brought to life, right? So you got to do that with Hyrule. I need a pony. That's Link's horse. I got to have a pony. If you don't have a pony in here, I'll be sad. I would love to see Link have an Ocarina at some point. You've got to have that epic moment when he gets the master sword that has to happen as well definitely doesn't look like they're going to have zelda be this damsel in distress at all it looks like she's an active participant and everything is going on so i want to see how that plays out and i think most importantly you gotta know you gotta know ganon this doesn't work without ganon if if they don't establish ganon as this menacing villain that's just kind of like sauron again with lord of rings that's just ruling over everything that's happening, you know, in this world, it won't work.

14:57And I need an Octorok and all that stuff, too. You know, you gotta have all the other fun classic enemies show up at some point as well, but you gotta know Zelda, obviously. Gotta know Zink or Zink, Link, obviously, and like I said, I think Ganon is just as important. Of course, to the live chat right now on Twitch and on YouTube, chime in with the things that you want to see, any sort of storylines that you want. Paris is nailing a lot of it. I see them getting very excited with some of the things you bring up. Go a little bit deeper, Paris. Some of my favorite things about the, you know, video games to the adaptations on the movies and the TV is, of course, just the little touchstones, the little small Easter eggs, right?

15:36It's not the big storyline. It's not the characters you know. It's those small sounds, those small little moments that you go, mm, they nailed that. What are some small things in the Zelda and Link world that we should know about that you would love to see? I gotta have I gotta have a fairy and I have to have it say to Link hey listen I gotta have that you gotta give me that at some point you know it might go over the head of everyone but it'll bring a smile to my face I mean it was like I just said before I mean I well I guess you're talking just tiny tiny easter eggs but like I said little Octa rock thing I do think I want to see them go to a dark world or mirror world you know shout out to link to the past with something like that um i would love to see and and i'm because i don't want to screw up the canon of this but zelda 2 the sequel to the legend of zelda um they kind of drastically did a different gameplay loop with that i would i would love to see something tiny to acknowledge that the second zelda wasn't that great maybe do that I don't know.

16:45You got to put Link in a boat somewhere, you know, shout out to Sam Blankett. There's so many damn Zelda games, but the one after Majora Majora's Mask on the GameCube, I'm blanking on the name. I apologize. You know what I'm talking about? I would love to see something. A shout out to the Game Boy game Link's Awakening. There's so many Zelda games out there. And then you think about all the Game Boy Zelda games that that showed up. We need the rupees. So you got to got to shout out the rupees in there as well. There's all just these little tiny things, not to mention when Link gets a new item, you got to do that.

17:22Like, I need these things, but you got to do it in a way that where it's not cheesy, I guess. So so it makes sense because I think that they're going to obviously take this movie in a serious tone. So I don't know. There's a lot. There's just so many. Because, I mean, like I said, Zelda's been around, you know, for 30 plus years. So there's a lot of content and just little things that they could put in there. Yeah, the fun part will be riding that line right on this serious tone, making this epic universe that we want to be in and make it kind of feel like Lord of the Rings there, but also kind of touching on those fun sounds that you've grown up with, Paris, that you love and adore, but clearly won't kind of fit what they're kind of going for.

18:00let's talk about the end of it all we arrive at the big premiere we're ready to watch this Paris what is the likelihood of this being a flop and they didn't hit it versus the likelihood of them nailing this I'm gonna put it 70 30 they're gonna nail it I just think they are I just think Nintendo knows how important this IP is not only to the games but bringing this to the big screen and and expanding the audience, the awareness of of Zelda by having a movie. So if the movie flops, that what's the point? Right. So they clearly it worked with Mario and we're getting the sequel. And I think people are going to be highly anticipating that.

18:41And I would I'm not expecting it to have as great a success as Mario, because obviously Mario is the IP for Nintendo. But Zelda's right up there as well. So I'm thinking something. Could this make a billion dollars? maybe who knows i mean i don't think this will be lord of the rings and them taking it that serious but i think it will have a more serious tone but they're going to do it in a way to draw in new newer people to the franchise that doesn't haven't been experienced in zelda like i have you know for the past 30 plus years to get them excited about it and then the next zelda game comes out for switch 2 right after that and people will be excited and want to go pick that up too you went exactly where I wanted to go, Paris.

19:22We always talk about how great it is to capture a new audience, capture the returning fans that love your stuff with these adaptations. We talk about Fallout, Mario, of course. Now, when this hits, what is the follow-up from Nintendo? How do they capture this new audience that wants to experience Zelda and Link? Do you have them go back to what we just saw with Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom with the Switch 2 upgrade that's already out? Do you have older games come to the NSO lineup, or will we be in time for a new game pears i know what i want and we're just in this era of remakes so why not remake ocarina time i i would love to see that come back in a more modern way you know from a graphical standpoint the whole thing um that or like i brought up before i talked about linked to the past i mean hell even the original zelda like just the concept of it retelling that story maybe you just reused the Breath of the Wild engine something like that I don't know again there's so many possibilities they've already done stuff like that when Link's Awakening God I can't even talk this morning I apologize but yeah number one on my list would be Ocarina of Time probably after that would be Link to the Past I would love to see them modernize that and bring that to a new audience.

20:38Very exciting stuff Paris. Let's talk about this before we get out of story number one and move on to the next one because Kebabs writes in and wants to know will will this movie be canon to the game timeline? And then I want to talk about the future pairs of like, what is a Zelda two movie look like to you? How do you continue to tell this story? So question number one, kebabs, will this movie be canon to the video game timeline? I, I don't think so. I mean, and, and I'm getting, I'm using Mario as a reference. It's not like Mario's ever had these, these deep, deep stories or anything like that, But they kind of just did their own thing with the Mario movie.

21:18And I would like to see that where you treat the character like the characters themselves stay faithful to what we've seen over the years. Right. But I do think you can kind of tell a new origin story with them through the movies to kind of bring everyone together. So it it makes sense in that way, because obviously they've retold the Zelda story over the past 30 plus years. So do it with the movie, too. Again, you're the faithfuls like me. We get we know the assignment. We get it. And you're kind of establishing a new canon for new people that are being introduced to Zelda, you know, through the movies as well.

21:53Now, I would piggyback off of that and say, I don't need whatever come whatever game comes after the movie to stay faithful to the canon of what they do in the movies. I don't need that. I think a great example of where you needed to do it was The Witcher. Like we obviously saw the Netflix series where they skewed so far out of the canon of what The Witcher was in the books and held even the game that that turned fans off. But Zelda has never really been that way. So I think it's okay. Okay. I like that, Paris. And then finally, how would you follow up the success of movie number one? Where would you go?

22:32What would you want to see? How do you jump off of number one and make a great number two for this? And I guess it again depends on the story that they're going to tell and what they do with Ganon. Do they defeat Ganon by the end of the first movie? Or is it just a thing of they stop whatever conflict or invasion or whatever Ganon's doing? But Ganon is still out there. I think for me, you got to keep Ganon as as the antagonist throughout the sequel. I assume they were probably a trilogy or something like that. And then by the end of it, that's when Link and Zelda actually defeat Ganon once and for all.

23:14So, yeah, it's tough to say until we get a kind of premise of what the story is going to be about this. but I would just have it that you use the first movie to establish the characters, establish Hyrule, establish the world. Almost, you know, Link starts off wherever they would do with the story. But by the end, he is the quote unquote hero that that we want him to be. And then that leads us into the to the second movie, because now we know that Ganon is this big threat. And now obviously Link has to go off on one adventure to whatever he does. So I don't know. There's so much they can do with this.

23:53And I think that's what gets me excited about it. Of course, to everyone watching out there, we are looking at the first look released on Monday via the Nintendo Today app of both Bo and Benjamin, the stars of the upcoming Zelda movie. So you can go check out the nice photos revealed. They look beautiful, stunning, and your imagination can run wild with what you will see up on the big screen very, very soon. And of course, let us know in the comments below if you're not watching live what you think of the upcoming Legend of Zelda movie and the new set photos. This might be one of my favorite stories of the entire year. Not because it's good.

30:22It's actually really horrible and awful. But because this is the most like, oh, wow, this is an insane story to read. But before we do that, Paris, let's talk about it. You said you had one slip up and then one you want to circle back to. Yeah, when I was having the brain fart about the one Zelda game, like the second we go to ads, I go Wind Waker like it literally just popped in my head right then. But yeah, that was the one where they went cel-shaded and the whole thing and obviously the boats and all that stuff. So I would love to see them have a nod to that in the Zelda movie as well. But the other thing I forgot about the game awards, just, you know, kudos to Obsidian, man.

30:59The fact that they got two RPGs nominated in the same year with the Vald in the Outer Worlds 2 is I'm pretty sure that's never happened before. but it just credit to that studio, man, three games in a calendar year. And then you got two of them nominated is, you know, just, just a testament to what everyone over there is doing. So congrats to them. Congrats to them. And I know it's early access, but honestly, Paris, if we had a survival sim category, I would put grounded to up there alongside Dune. There's been some other great ones, but like, Oh, that, that, uh, runescape one was really fun too.

31:38but yeah you know shout out to grounded 2 was fantastic as well super early access but i can't wait to play more of that they did a great job yeah yeah i honestly if it wasn't early access they would probably have three games nominated this year which is which is crazy to think but that just goes to show you quality of what obsidian has been doing so again just kudos to them man i love that paris um let's jump into story number two because i do want to circle back to some paris outside of work life stuff and your son talking about the steam box. I need to know all about it. Let's jump into story number two.

32:13Fired Subnautica 2 leads alleged that Kraft and CEO asked ChatGPT how to get out of paying their$250 million bonus. This coming from Chris Scullion at VGC. Strap in because we got a good one. The co-founders of Subnautica 2 studio Unknown Worlds have alleged that publisher Krafton's CEO asked ChatGPT for advice on how to get out of giving them a$250 million payout before firing them. CEO Ted Gill, co-founder and creative director Charlie Cleveland, and co-founder and technical director Max McGuire were fired by Krafton earlier this year, with the publisher accusing the trio of, quote, an absence of core leadership, end quote, and claiming it felt a profound sense of betrayal by their failure to honor the trust placed in them by our fans.

33:10The three claimed, however, that Crafton had betrayed them by firing them right before delaying Subnautica 2, a move they alleged was designed to deliberately prevent its early access release and avoid its selling well enough to trigger a$250 million bonus for the development team. Now, a pretrial brief filed by the trio's legal team, as reported by a game developer, claims explicitly that Crafton, quote, fired the founders and delayed the launch of Subnautica 2 to avoid paying the earnout, end quote. Quote, suggesting that after Crafton's finance department in May 2025 forecast a base case earnout of$191 million, Crafton needed a way to cancel the earnout.

34:01The brief, which demands the founders be restored to their positions at the studio, alleges, quote, already concerned that Crafton had paid too much to acquire Unknown Worlds. Chang Han Kim, Krafton's CEO, feared that making any earn-out payment to the founders would earn him a reputation as a pushover and endanger his position as CEO. It adds, since Krafton could not convince the founders to delay the game, Kim searched for another way to cancel the earn-outs. This includes potentially firing the founders so the bonuses didn't have to be paid. However, the brief alleges that Krafton's global head of corporate development, Maria Park, told Kim that it seems to be highly likely that the earnout will still be paid if the sales goal is achieved, regardless of the dismissal with the case or with cause.

35:02It also claims Kim turned to artificial intelligence to help him brainstorm ways to avoid paying the earnout. But that chat GPT likewise advised that it would be difficult to cancel the earnout. Paris, we got company CEOs turning to AI to ask how to wiggle out of this payout. Let's talk about it right now. A lot to break down here. Where do you want to start? I'm just going to say this. When Skynet becomes self-aware, this is why. This is why. This is when Grog and Chat, GPKT and Copilot, when they all just merged into one and realized, and someone in the chat said it, so I'm going to give him credit for this.

35:50Ultron was right. He was right. This is why. This is why humanity is going to go away because of insane stuff like this and the fact that you're trying to leverage AI. to give you tips on how to screw people out of money is just insane, dude. It is absolutely insane that this is where we are now with this. And sadly, it's only going to get worse. This is. Paris, this has been a wild story since we started it back in the day with these three getting booted out of the company and going back and forth on what is happening. than the idea of, well, they weren't doing their duties. They were off doing other things and them saying, well, that's not true.

36:35We were ready to rock and roll. Like, let's put this game out. Our fans are ready. And then, of course, we hear they were trying to avoid the big payout there because it was on track to probably do well, sell well, and be good for the fans. And they're holding that back. And then, of course, now we hear that the CEO is turning to chat GPT on how to get out of this. We've seen these stories before. We've heard it just a couple weeks ago, me and Blessing laughing about, you know, how do we turn to chat GPT to fire employees and lay people off? It is wild. It's what I mean, it's this is a scummy part of this business that and it goes beyond gaming.

37:15Obviously, it's just just corporate regardless. But it's a scummy part of what we love that, you know, it takes away like like this year's just been an amazing year for games, right? Like if you just focus on the games themselves, it's been an amazing time. But then you keep having this stuff come up and it just takes away from it. Just you're just disgusted hearing this kind of stuff and just where the economy is, just the workforces, just where everything is to see people constantly trying to screw other people out of their livelihoods and out of things that they've earned, you know, with these bonuses and all that.

37:53And then now you're using AI to try and leverage it even more. Yeah, I just hate it, man. It's scummy. Yeah, hard to side with you or really want to feel any compression when you hear about this. And, of course, most importantly,$250 million payout is big. That was going to go to, of course, the three founders and a lot of the development team. That was going to be a nice split for them. Probably well-earned, well-deserved after the hard work of the game. But, yeah, to see you try to weasel out of that one is tough to want to hear your side and believe in your side. the overpaying for the unknown world's team is a tough one because I mean, this is a talented team.

38:33This is sub Nautica too. They're following up sub Nautica. And, uh, you know, I think a lot of people definitely were believing in this project on the fan side of things. So of course, I think you got a gem in the rough there for sure. No matter how much you paid, but yeah, we'll see more about this as it now we'll go to trial Paris and we will continue to see the back and forth between these two. Yeah, I mean, we'll see. And like I said, it's only going to get worse from here. We know this won't be the last story that we hear like this and where it ends, who knows. Let's go to story number three.

39:08Capcom says it's confident that Resident Evil Requiem won't suffer from Monster Hunter Wild style PC performance issues. This coming from Andy Robinson at VGC. Capcom says it foresees little risk of its next big game Resident Evil Requiem experiencing performance issues on PC like Monster Hunter Wilds. Wilds has notably struggled with performance issues on PC since it launched in February, which has attracted criticism for some players and led to a promise of technical improvements from Capcom. During its latest financial results Q &A, Capcom was asked if there was any risk of Resident Evil Requiem suffering from similar issues since it shares the same RE engine technology.

40:03The company responded by claiming that since Requiem differs in gameplay and architecture, it does not anticipate any risk of similar performance issues. Quote, Resident Evil differs from Monster Hunter Wilds in terms of gameplay, system architecture, and network features, it said. At present, we do not anticipate similar risks. We are developing the game to provide a smooth gaming experience across a wide range of PC specifications. on bringing RE Engine 2 Nintendo Switch 2 director the director suggested that the job of bringing Requiem to the platform went more smoothly than expected Paris let's rewind were you expecting PC issues with Resident Evil after Monster Hunter Wilds I mean well I'm taking this angle on it you obviously had it with the other one it's a similar engine so you would assume that they take that to heart.

41:04Sounds like QA is involved and you take lessons learned from that so it doesn't happen again. So maybe this is why they're coming out with this confidence that, no, we've identified what the issues are. This game obviously doesn't even necessarily wouldn't even necessarily have the same gameplay loops in it or whatever, whatever word I'm searching for right here that was causing that issue or performance issues. So we're confident with our QA team with the lessons learned we got from that that will have that resolve for the PC release on that moving forward so I mean it sounds good we won't know until it actually comes out and in practice how that looks because you know when you do think about PC gaming there are variables that come to it sure it starts with the engine then you got to think about driver support AMD Nvidia right what operating system are you are you playing on Windows are you are you doing it on Steam OS and, you know, using Proton to translate it, stuff like that.

42:01So there's other variables that go into any PC game that comes out. But if they think they identified the core issues to resolve it and they're QAing the hell out of it so that when it does come out, you know, they feel disconfident that it won't suffer from that, that's a good thing. But if it does have issues, this is going to age like milk. yeah it's interesting Paris because my mind did not go to this at all during whenever I think about Resident Evil right I think about Monster Hunter Wilds an open world shared multiplayer experience and I don't think of that with my Resident Evil games right unless all of a sudden Raccoon City is this giant open world GTA sprawling experience then maybe I might think twice about it but I actually never thought that uh we would be talking about this but I'm glad to hear that the team is feeling confident with what they're doing uh you know of course pc players have a lot of different specs they want the very best out of their machines and clearly monster hunter wilds didn't hit that so they're asking the team if they have that better than lockdown for sure well i look at it this way because i i do think this conversation goes beyond just this game and and what they're talking about if you look at obviously what valve announced last week we We know what Microsoft and Xbox is attempting to do.

43:18You heard what the Take Two CEO said yesterday. More and more people are starting to shift towards PC and development is starting to shift towards PC being the priority first. If that's the case, you can't have these issues because PC is such a wide range of different levels of performance, depending on the processor. You have the GPU that you have memory like they have to. account for so many different things on the PC side that you can't release broken games. We've already seen the result of this right across console and even PC. What happens when you release a buggy broken game? So QA is going to be even more important as we tend to skew towards towards this this side of gaming hardware with PC versus what they're able to do on console where you know all right it's a playstation it's an xbox here are the specs of it we can make the game for this and it is what it is whereas pc like i said you're going to have so many more variables to account for so um we'll see because this will continue to be a thing moving forward not just for this game but for multiple games and clearly you know when just bringing xbox into this all their games are going to be day and date on pc so even on their side they absolutely have to account for this because like I said you can't have these broken PC games.

44:45Paris you've seen it. Are you excited for this game? Yes I played it. I played it and I'm very excited for it. I'm not a Resident Evil guy and I loved what I got to play when I was at Gamescom so yeah I'm absolutely looking forward to this. Here's another one to be excited for. Story number four. Game Informer is coming to newsstands. This comes from Matt Miller at Game Informer. You'll soon find Game Informer available at newsstands across the U.S. as well as in select locations internationally. Beginning with our December issue featuring Dragon Quest VII reimagined on the cover, readers will be able to visit local stores where magazines are sold and snag a new copy off the shelf.

45:28Even as the list continues to expand, the first issue will be available in the United States at Barnes & Noble's, Books A Million, GameStop, and Gelson's, among other local markets. We are excited to be appearing for the first time in several other international locations as well. We'll be expanding the scope of where you can find the Game Informer magazine over the coming months across new stands, game stores, and more. You can expect to see the first issue arrive in stores this December. If you enjoy what we do, we'd invite you to consider picking up an issue for a friend or family member for the holiday gifting season.

46:06The word of mouth and support you can share about Game Informer's return is deeply appreciated. A little clap going right there, Paris. That's nice. That's a big win. I'll tell you what, because Paris, you know, growing up, You had the Xbox magazine You had Nintendo Power And nothing cooler than walking out Maybe you're catching a flight with the family You walk into the bookstore You know what I'm grabbing, Paris You know I'm looking for that video game magazine And it's sorely missed Every time we go on a flight That's all I want It's just a video game magazine to page through Read a couple articles And then land on that flight and get out And it hurts every time I walk in Not seeing those anymore I completely agree.

46:52Like, you know, bring this full circle. We're talking about Zelda earlier. Like I mentioned 98. I want to say it was Nintendo power that had to been 96, like early 97. The first time they showed Ocarina of Time. That was it. It was the magazine that got me excited about it. Right. And then you think about the EGMs of the world and just on down the line. I mean, that was such a big part of my early gaming life were those gaming magazines and just how important they were. because that's how we got information about upcoming games. And you would show it off, and then you would add it to your anticipated list, stuff like that.

47:28So, yeah, I'm, yeah, 100 % really looking forward to that. I've been buying some old Xbox magazines. That's been my latest craze there, Paris. I've been spending a lot of money on those, which is just a bad idea, but I love it. And I've been bringing them on flights. And my last flight, Ryan McCaffrey was on it, and I had the Halo 3 edition of the Xbox magazine. And I showed Ryan, he goes, I bet you I wrote that article and of course I paged open it and there's Ryan McCaffrey right on the front of it with a full spread of Halo 3. It was the coolest, man. Oh, heck yeah. I mean, speaking of OXM, that was how I played Splinter Cell.

48:03It was that demo that came in the magazine back when discs were still a thing. So, yeah, so many core memories from that stuff, man. Paris, as we start to get out of the way, it is fun and big news to see that Game Informer is back of course yes everyone out there word of mouth is big a share is big maybe for the holiday gifting season you buy a magazine and share with somebody you love that would be great for them but if i wanted something smaller paris where would i go you would go to the we news channel where we cover all the small news items you need to know about paris we got some fun we news to talk about.

48:47Yoko Taro, creator of Nier, is still working on games. They just keep getting canceled. According to him, quote, I've actually been working on some stuff. It's just that it never ended up seeing the light of day. I got paid for it, so I personally have no issue with that, but people seem to think that I haven't been doing anything just because none of the work I've done is being released, end quote. Keep getting those checks, and hopefully your work gets out there, right? I'm glad that you're getting paid that's the big one right there from this week in video games discontinued shooter Concord has been reverse engineered by a group of developers but work has since been paused dude due to worry legal action Paris I saw that story pretty fun that people are jumping back into Concord it reminds me of City of Heroes I've been jumping back into City of Heroes thanks to that now of course legal action you think sony would stop this let them play let them have some fun i think they kind of i get it look it sucks that they did but i understand why they did it you know what i mean that's an ip that they still own they obviously have completely canceled and refunded people money all these things so no they don't want people going rogue just using their ip you know at will i get it from nintendo statues of friendly faces from donkey kong 64 are yours for the taking in the Donkey Kong Bonanza Emerald Rush show.

50:19So stay strong. It's funny. So strong. It's funny event starting November 25th. There's a fun tweet with that. Of course, if you love Donkey Kong 64, you'll instantly know who these statues and friendly faces are. Coming to Game Pass, November 19th, Moonlighter 2, The Endless Vault. Parrish, are you excited about this one? Oh, heck yeah. I know you guys did the review yesterday and I've played it as well. I love that game. I think it's great. It's fantastic. And the fact that it's on Game Pass, go check it out. I think you'll really like it. November 20th, Monsters Are Coming, Rock and Road, The Crew Motor Fest.

50:57On November 25th, you have Banisher's Ghost of New Eden and Kill It With Fire 2. Andy Cortez is a voice actor, I believe, and Kill It With Fire 2. So go check him out in that. Give him some love. On December 1st, a big one coming to Game Pass. Marvel Cosmic Invasion. Yeah, I didn't know that either. And heck yeah, I got to play that at Summer Game Fest. I can't wait for that game. It's going to be awesome. December 2nd, Lost Records Bloom and Rage. And then for Premium on November 19th. Premium, Paris. Uh-oh. We got to have a whole X-Cast topic. Now we're separating Game Pass with Premium and this.

51:42Oh, Paris, we've lost our way. We've lost our way. We had it so good. And now we got separate lines on this. Premium will have Revenge of the Savage Planet.

51:58And Calubra and the Souls of Limbo. I've never heard of that one. That's tough, Paris. That's too bad. Yeah. Let's go to the next one. Where Winds Meet surpassed 2 million players in 24 hours. Have you heard about this one? I have not. Okay, okay. New MMO coming your way. Oh, thank you for that. Very excited about that one. And Guild Wars Reforged launches December 3rd on PC. I love Guild Wars. I'll jump into that any day of the week. Now, Paris, let's end the show with Super Chats. you're wrong and we'll get out of here but before we do that your son was talking about the steam machine laying on me so i'm gonna turn this into a mini x cast shout out to gary we miss you so yesterday i'm just chilling on the couch watching youtube scrolling and i was watching some people talk about the steam machine you know because of various media people went and got hands on with So I'm just randomly sitting there watching the videos and my son's sitting there and he goes, so what's the steam machine?

53:08So I explained it to him and then I pulled up the official valve video. We watched it together. So he saw the steam machine. He saw the steam frame, saw the steam controller. And then he was like, wait, so you're telling me this is a PC that will just sit under the TV and I can play all my games on that? And I was like, yeah, I go. Anything you got on steam? I go. It's just like, you know, I had the steam deck. I'd show him the steam deck. I go, it's essentially the Steam Deck, but now it's on TV. He was like, oh, really? He was like, how much do you think it's going to cost? And obviously we all got our opinions on that.

53:39I just told him probably anywhere between five to 600 bucks is going to wind up costing, right? And he was like, oh, really? And he was like, in all the Steam games that I could play on the Steam Deck, I'm going to be able to play this on the TV. I was like, yep, all of them are going to be there. He goes, I think that's really cool. I think I want that. So then I extended the conversation and I go, and this is pretty much because then we were talking about the Xbox ally. I go, so the Xbox ally is essentially what Xbox is going to do, but it's going to be Windows. But I go, but the difference is they'll have the anti cheat so you can play for it because then I brought a Fortnite in his eyes really there.

54:15But you play, play Fortnite and Call of Duty and all that. And you can bring the Xbox store and you can bring the Steam store and all the PC digital stores. You can play all your games on that. I go, that's what Xbox is aiming to do in the next couple of years. And his eyes really lit up and he goes, that's what Xbox is doing. So the next Xbox is going to be what the steam machine is, plus more more stores. And I have every game that I own on there. I was like, yeah, that's what they're doing. He was like, I want that. That's what I want. I think I want that device because I think that is how I'm going to just have to have one device.

54:49I don't have to have an Xbox, a PlayStation, a PC like he's just naming all of them. I can have one device on my TV and play all my games. So I was like, huh, interesting. So this is someone that, you know, he's somewhat informed because obviously I'm his dad, but he pretty much was representing what the average person is thinking about that device, that it's cool that I'm going to be able to have all my games available on one device. So I just thought it was interesting. I like that, Paris. Yeah, I mean, I think that's what everybody in a perfect world wants, right? I do have the interesting one of like, what is the pushback that I'm not just getting a PC right at this point?

55:27The PC almost has everything as well. Is it just the ease of access of? Well, it's in the entertainment center. It's on the TV in the living room. And we'll go from there because what you're describing is just a PC at this point now. Exactly. And I understand we talk about all that. But it was the fact that they're giving you a device that's just easy to use. that it is a PC under the hood, but it's just easy to use. Whereas I plug it in on the TV. I got the control. And then I was explaining, you don't have to use a Steam controller. You can use your Xbox controller or the PlayStation controller, anything with Bluetooth.

56:01He was like, oh, really? You know, you really got excited about that. If you had a PC game where you just absolutely had to use a mouse and keyboard, you could do that, too. So he just liked the flexibility of it and that he can basically condense everything that he owns on the one device versus having to have three or four different devices sitting under his TV. So I just thought that was cool. I mean, you know, we've talked about it, obviously, a million different times from the Xbox angle. They still got work to do on Windows to get to what Valve has done with SteamOS. But if they can nail that, I think that possibility of being able to do that is a pretty cool concept.

56:37They obviously got to deliver on it. But, you know, I like it in concept, but we got to see them deliver it. I like that. Paris, you do have a little bit of pushback coming from the chat right now. Nightlife writes in with the$2 super chat and says, $5 to$600. Paris, I want to smoke whatever you're smoking. Do you think that's crazy to ask that price? Let's talk about it. Is he saying it's too much or too little? I think he's saying it's too little. I think they say you're riding high and you're believing it's too little. And I even said this when we initially had that conversation last week when I called in.

57:10because I you know my first thought was 500 that's what I initially said that was my gut feeling you know and blessing and Tim kind of talked me out of it a little bit so I'm like oh okay maybe it's more six and I'm talking to 512 version I'm not talking to two terabyte man if you go above 600 bucks we're creeping into Xbox Series X two terabyte PlayStation 5 Pro territory now is it really like is this really something someone just will just buy as a no-brainer and then when you think about the specs of it the specs of it is essentially a ps5 series x but really performance wise it's a little bit less but it is more than a series s i mean you got to start weighing that from a price point and obviously i get tariffs are involved all that i just think six hundreds to me seems to be the ceiling for this thing.

58:04Anything more than that, I don't know who this is for because I might as well just go build my own PC at that point, right? I don't know. I'm going to stick with six until I'm proven wrong. Five would be no-brainer. Six, I think, is the ceiling. Lucid Dream writes on the$2 Super Chat and says$500 to$600 based on the digital foundry analysis is what they're guessing right there. I agree, Paris. once you start creeping in why are we not just building pcs why are we not going to nzxt and just buying the pre-built pc and saying here you go son you have a pc now it does everything and more right like we can stay up at the college dorm you'll be set up there your first house will get you a little desk you're set up you'll be fine right and so now now i want to be clear one now i want to be clear i'm a sucker for for new stuff so i'm getting it all anyways so valve just Bundle it all up.

58:58Mike, me and you, we can together, we can just swipe the cards. Give me the frame, the machine, the controller. I'm getting it all day one because I want it. But I just think realistically, cost-wise, if it's going to have any kind of impact, I mean, you go over$600. I just don't know. I just don't know then at that point how many other than the diehard enthusiasts are really going to want to go pick that thing up. Just so we're very clear, we will be buying this day one, Paris. That's right. I will be swiping. the card on this because it's crazy i don't know when it happened but we could probably track back maybe during covid but there was a time where i started to buy everything on steam i started to play everything via steam right that became the main central hub plus discord with everybody gaming via discord using party chats on discord right cross play being so prevalent now it's like I moved my entire life essentially to Steam.

59:55So yeah, the idea of bringing all of that onto the, you know, entertainment center in the living room and having all my games there. Yeah, I think I'm jumping in no matter what here. Yeah, you know, it was funny. I think that was last week. You know, I got someone had hit me to that new Steam grid DB for Xbox. So when you go into the Xbox full screen experience, your Steam games don't necessarily have the right cover art for it. this allows you to go in and fix it. So I was kind of showing that off like, oh, hey, look, I fixed it in there. And then I was looking at comments on social media like, why do you have so many Steam games?

1:00:31And I guess it's not something I consciously even thought about. But to what you're saying, Mike, I realize I just get a lot of games on Steam. You know, I mean, obviously an Xbox game game pass. Of course, I get it. But if I'm just buying a game, I typically just buy it on steam. That just is the default digital store that I go to. And I think a lot of what we're seeing right now with the industry is how consumer friendly and how, how, how, how valve has earned the trust of the consumer that we're the store for you. This is where you get the game. This is where you get the deals. Obviously this is the steam winter sales and all that other stuff that they have.

1:01:12Obviously they'll have, look, I'm pretty sure Half-Life 3 is coming, right? That's another reason that you would want to just stick with Steam. And I think that's what Microsoft and Xbox is. Competing is probably the wrong word because obviously Xbox games are on Steam, but that is their competition as they build out this next Xbox and probably why they're saying, yeah, we're just going to include every digital store because go back to the interview we did a few years back with Phil. He said it himself. You're not getting people off their digital stores. once they've entrenched in a digital store they're going to stay there so you might as well include it in there and let the consumer choose where they want to purchase their games because I'm deep into that I'm so deep on Steam that you could present me with Playstation, Xbox, Steam I'm most likely going right over there that's where everything is now for me I feel that.

1:02:03Paris let's end the show with a couple of fun ones coming out really quick right now we have a cool one here from Nigel Martin who writes in and says Mike and Paris on your channels can you please do a Halo Infinite stream to celebrate the last big update Paris can you believe the last big update oh Paris so I have a conspiracy theory about that and I don't disagree I actually love Halo Infinite multiplayer I think it has come a very long way since it's debut as far as being as far as content goes modes obviously forge everything like that so here's my conspiracy on why they're ending it now. So we know Campaign Evolved is going to be on PlayStation 5 next year, probably the 25th anniversary.

1:02:49You cannot tell me they won't have something multiplayer on PlayStation day one with that. They have to. I can't imagine that they won't. You're not porting over Infinite. You're not porting over the Master Chief Collection. They've already told you Campaign Evolved won't have multiplayer attached to it. I think there's a standalone multiplayer coming. I just do. That's just me. It just would baffle me for them to not have something. You're introducing Master Chiefs to the PlayStation audience and the number one thing that makes Halo Halo is not there. I agree. Look, I love Chief and Cortana as much as the next person and I love those campaigns but the multiplayer is what made Halo.

1:03:37I can't imagine they don't have something I can't wait to see what they do Paris because I totally agree I was blown away I looked at Tim we've talked about it on the podcast you know Halo to me is two things the campaign but it's really heavily to the side of multiplayer there right and so the idea of no multiplayer is baffling to me especially when you think of Halo campaign evolved combat evolved just give me the Halo 1 multiplayer suite in there put it as one big package and let's roll that at least buys you time into the next one but the idea of just giving me 13 campaign missions and calling it good that's not enough that that won't be enough i just i i refuse to believe it until i am proven wrong yeah like my my gut tells me june showcase next year you reveal it and then 25th anniversary all of it comes out What do you think it is?

1:04:35Really quick, because we got to go. But what do you think it is? The multiplayer suite. Is it Halo Master Chief Collection? Is it Infinite? Is it just Halo 1? Because here's the thing. That's on Slip Space, and we're not Slip Space anymore. It's UE5. It's got to be UE5. It has to be. But what is it? I can't imagine them. I'm sure they'll have some classic maps from Halo 1 and all that stuff, but it's again i'm probably way off so people will throw this back in my face a year from now but i just think it's on ue5 it's multiplayer you bring in some some classic maps you have some new ones on there i don't know if they do a battle royale or some something unique to get it to stand out but i can't imagine them not having something on playstation excuse me day one.

1:05:26I just can't imagine it. Pick the seven fan favorite maps from the whole Halo franchise. Put them in on Unreal Engine 5. Just say, hey, here's Halo Online from the chat right there on YouTube. Here's Halo Online. That's just a little sweet we're giving you. Couple of game modes. Hit me with it. Or just do Halo 1. I'm fine with Halo 1 maps. It's Halo 1. Just do Halo 1 multiplayer. Call it good. Then we'll get to the next ones later on. it's exciting Paris I want to be in the room Paris I want to talk all things Halo with you all the time oh my gosh let's say this before I get out of here because this might be my last appearance for the rest of the year but who knows 2026 I've not been to the studio since March of this year I have to change that in 2026 I gotta come see you guys more I have to come up more I gotta do more stuff next year we gotta go catch a basketball game Steph Curry you know it's like near the end of the career we got to get a couple games in you and i as well we'll have some fun all right absolutely let's move into you're wrong before we get out of here kebabs right in kebabs writes in and says missed we news the analog 3d reviews and impressions are out so something to check out right there the headline is that it doesn't render n64 games in 4k it upscales the original 240p graphics to 4k so go check that out that's wild right there i love the n64 for.

1:06:52And then Delta says Valve has partnered with Epic to make easy anti-cheat compatibility since 2021, but it's an opt-in option for developers. Fortnite has this disabled and therefore is not playable on SteamOS as of now, but since it's a PC, you can just install Windows 11 on it alongside SteamOS. So there's some workarounds for your anti-cheat. I'll just say super quick on that. The more widely adopted Steam OS becomes, you're going to start seeing anti-cheat be adopted as well. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Paris, let's get out of here. Of course, this has been Kind of Funny Games Daily.
