In short

This Kinda Funny Games Daily episode covers three main gaming stories. Topic 1: Metal Gear Solid movie. Sony has signed Final Destination: Bloodlines directors Zach Lepofsky and Adam B. Stein to a first-look deal; they’ll direct Sony/Columbia’s Metal Gear Solid adaptation, produced by Avi and Ari Arad. Hosts debate whether the duo’s jump from indie horror to a major game adaptation is too risky, and whether a film will lose “Kojima sauce” (e.g., weird mechanics like Psycho Mantis). They suggest horror-leaning directors (Zach Craig) or visionary, medium-playful filmmakers (Edgar Wright-esque) as better fits, and mention Alex Garland as an ideal candidate. Topic 2: Amazon Luna changes. Luna stops selling individual games and third-party subscriptions via EA/Ubisoft/GOG; existing purchases remain playable until June 10, then must be redeemed on those stores. Topic 3: Bungie’s Marathon budget. Reports claim $200M+ (possibly $250M) development spend; player counts dropped from ~88k peak to ~25k daily peak, with sales estimates around 1.2M copies and ~$55M gross on Steam/PC.

1:16Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Today's gaming news stories include Metal Gear Solid's movie is finally in the works, big changes come to Amazon's gaming service, and Pokemon Champions developer apologizes we'll have all this and more because this is kind of funny games daily

1:36yo what's up welcome to kind of funny games daily for friday april 10th 2026 i'm one of your hosts blessing adio jr joining me is the tastemaker roger bicorni you're a pro come on you're a pro come on come on come on bro that's a good one that's a good one i feel usually between me and

1:53Tim Gettys:It's not bad. It's just, you know, Mike was in between us. Mike was in between us. That's true. And Mike is always in between us. Our friendship. Don't get me started about Mike. We could be best friends. It's always Mike in the middle of us. It's always fucking Mike. Always Mike in the middle of us. Every now and then, Mike looks at me like he wants to ask me to hang out. And then he turns to you where Andy is. Yeah, exactly. And then we both say, no, I don't want to hang out. And I'm like, if you'd ask me, I'd probably say yes. There's a good chance I'd say yes. No, that's not true. I'd say yes every now and then.

2:19Because me and him, we play magic together sometimes.

2:22Tim Gettys:Every month he looks up to you and says, hey, man, why don't we go do this, this, this, this on Sunday? And then you're like, hey, I'm ready to go. And then you look at him and say, eh, maybe. I'll let you know. It's usually like a maybe. I'll let you know. Because here's the thing about him. Have you ever done it with him? Yeah. Okay. About twice. Two or three times I've done it with him. He's definitely asked you like 15 times. The problem, he asked me all the time. And like, I'm excited that he asked me because I want to do it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. The problem with these magic pre-release events is that they last forever.

2:47And so you go and it's like, I'm dedicated. an in and out. No. Oh, absolutely not. You go in and you're dedicated for like four hours in there. And I wish they just cut them in half. You know? Can you just leave? No, because it's rude because basically it's like tournament style. Like they match you up with other people. So if you leave, that means somebody else is slaying.

3:04Tim Gettys:Just fake a phone call. Oh, my grandma again. Oh, grandma. Oh, it's late. He's talking about my grandma's dying. It's the fourth time his grandma's dying. Oh, my grandma keeps dying. I don't know what to tell you. Oh, I can't believe magic. They resuscitated her. She's fine now. Oh, she's back. Okay, cool. Sick. She'll die again in a few weeks I can joke about that because my grandma's already dead R.I.P. But yeah, I'll do it every now and then with Mike I had to decide the week of I can't tell you four weeks ahead No, no, no, that's too far ahead How are you doing, Blessing? How are we feeling?

3:32Tim Gettys:It's Friday It's raining as shit, looks like garbage outside I like the rain though I really like rain Is it the Seattle in you? Is Seattle in me? I think it's the Midwest in me as well There's something that's very cozy about rain for me where when it's, and I think it's the inside, like I like to stay inside. I'm an indoors person. And so when it rains, the vibe gets cozier. You can't go to Oakland. Yeah, I can't go to Oakland. Usually if I'm in Oakland, I'm playing magic at a friend's house. Sure. Okay, so you're already inside. So we're inside, you know, put on some lo-fi hip hop. Yeah. Come on, that's a rainy vibe.

4:04What about you? How are you doing?

4:05Tim Gettys:I'm good, man. I don't like the rain. I hate the rain. I feel bad in my heart. You know what I mean? I walk outside, I'm like, today sucks. Feeling your joints. Yeah, I feel my joints and shit. A lot of games, a lot of redacteds, a lot of things to play. I'm excited. I'm excited about that because I don't have much planned this weekend, and so I'm going to spend time finishing up a redacted. I actually have... We'll see if I can finish it up before the workday's over today. I don't know if I'll be able to, but I have a free afternoon, so I'm hoping one of the redacteds, maybe I can get done on the workday.

4:36If not, it'll become a weekend game. But I was also thinking, I'm like, do I boot up Life is Strange? Does that become a weekend game

4:43Tim Gettys:for me maybe that is an easy weekend game it's not too long not too long we're almost we're at the ending i think what do we have to do because i see i see the streets talking sometimes and they're like where's the life of strange content i think it's gonna have to be a great way three people that's the sad part about the sorry chat but like what can we ask them for you know like

5:00Blessing Adeoye Jr.:because i get x amount of we do a fundraiser like how do we raise like how many subscribers do we have on our youtube we're at 307 000 there's no way that a life of strange reunion

5:13Tim Gettys:review is going to drive our sub count on youtube if you do if you give us a 315k no that's not how this works get us to 310 ,000 subs on youtube and i'll put it on a gamescast okay yeah we will review that's like me on airbud in review say if we get 12 ,000 views i'll do airbud too i got like 7 ,000 views you don't understand roger i'm the draw all right i'm the one that's gonna make it happen i'm the draw violets archive says in the chat i'm gonna say 312 because i don't think you guys can hit 312. If you can get to 312 ,000 subscribers, we'll do a full gamescast. Full gamescast. A full game.

5:47Hour and a half. I don't give a fuck if Greg Miller says no. I will make it happen. We were doing it. We are moving.

5:52Tim Gettys:I don't care if the state of play next week. I don't give a shit. I don't care. We're doing it. 312 ,000 subscribers. I'll do, I'll play through Life Strange Reunion. Okay. And we'll do a full. We might have to ban somebody in the chat. What'd they say? Lucid Dre 4M in the chat says the sub count has gone up like 10k in a decade okay let's talk no let's not okay maybe 20k because we don't ask enough that's the problem we ask for certain things we ask for super chats they give us super chats how often do we ask for subs that's so true but i do think that every single human being that watches on youtube is subscribed well then share it with a friend share it with a buddy or do the thing that i do or i say people do go to a local sprint store boost mobile just sign in use all the accounts that they have and just subscribe.

6:34Tim Gettys:Someone, some idiot has signed in there. Just fucking press subscribe on our channel. I'll be honest. I'm not tapped in enough to my church upbringing because you're looking at me crazy. Let me land it. Let me lay the plate. All right. You go into a church every single week and pastors are such great marketers because they make you feel a divine feeling of I need to bring my friends here. I need to bring as many people here as possible. I need to show them the word of God. We got to tap into that. Invite your friends to kind of funny chat. If you're listening, if you have a friend that's nerdy and likes video games, send them a link.

7:08Tim Gettys:Convert your friend to become a best friend. Damn. Put it on a shirt. Put it on a poster. Let's talk about it. Turn your friend into a best friend. Put them into the church of kind of funny. Put$10 into the offering bucket. The kind of funny membership. Patreon.com is kind of funny.

7:23Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Enough about that. Let's get into the show. Remember, if you're watching live, you can be a part of the show by super chatting in over on YouTube.com slash kind of funny games. I remember we couldn't do this without our producers over on patreon.com slash kind of funny. So thank you to Carl Jacobs, Omega Buster, and Delaney the Psalm Twining. For now, let's begin with what is and forever will be the Roper Report. It's time for some news. We have six stories today. A Baker's Dozer!

7:56Oh, I like the hard cut right there. A possible 6.5, because as we're going live, Roger asked me, hey, have we talked about this on the show? And I was like, oh, shit. I thought for some reason, it was one of those things, one of those stories that was like weird enough that it kind of got lost in the ether.

8:10Tim Gettys:And it probably got like, maybe got broke like right after Games Daily. I think it broke right after Games Daily. Also, as I was looking through, I wasn't finding official sources talking about it. Nah, we got IGN one though, so we're good.

8:20Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Yeah, I might sneak it in there somewhere. We'll figure it out. Let's start off with story number one. Metal Gear Solid Movies in the works from Final Destination Duo. as they ink Sony First Look. This is an exclusive from Hollywood Reporter, written by Boris Kitt. What a difference a Hollywood year can make. Just a year ago, Zach Lepofsky and Adam B. Stein were a filmmaking duo with humble indie horror roots, prepping to release their first sizable feature, Final Destination Bloodlines from New Line Cinema. Now, thanks to that movie's critical and box office success, Lepofsky and Stein have become one of the busiest movie makers around.

8:55Blessing Adeoye Jr.:They are so in demand that Sony Pictures has snared them signing signing the duo to a sweeping and expansive first look deal, which covers all the studio's film labels. Under the deal, Lepofsky and Stein's newly launched company, Wonder Lab will develop the films for the duo to direct in original projects that they will produce for other directors. The focus is creating wildly fun, commercial, character-driven, genre-bending films. They're currently meeting potential executives to help lead the company. and as part of the deal the duo will direct sony's company or sony's columbia pictures adaptation of metal gear solid the pioneering video game created by kojima it would mark the first time the blockbuster title a stealth combat game with sci-fi and spy features would be brought to the screen father and son team aviar aviarad and aviarad are producing the feature well no is that it's like a junior you gotta add a junior to one gotta do it you can't do that at hollywood right don't you have to have like an entirely unique name or is that just yeah i think it's

9:56Tim Gettys:like something to do with like a sag or something like that right and that oh yeah you do have to have maybe he just maybe in the back end you know what i mean it's like the second i think that's like i'm technically a junior you know what i mean so but i don't say anything yeah like michael jordan or michael b jordan had to put the b in there yeah exactly because it's like well what does it stand for we don't know the original jordan was already in sag he's already in sag

10:14Blessing Adeoye Jr.:yeah of course yeah quote zach and adam are thrilling storytellers Zach and Adam are thrilling storytellers, masters of visuals in suspense, and two of the most impressive director-producers working today, said Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group President Sanford Panitch. That's a crazy title in a statement. Quote, with projects across all the company's film labels, we are so happy to create a home for them and proud to have them as part of the Sony family. End quote.

10:48Tim Gettys:roger does this news surprise and delight you no not really i mean it's there was an adaptation of metal gear solid that has been in the works for years that we talked about on kfg day i think it's as when i first joined the company we were talking about it for the first time uh that was the director of kong skull island or whatever he was working on that for a minute wasn't that like jordan vote roberts yes yeah yeah yeah yeah the guy with the long beard so he was working on that for a while remember i was talking about that and i recently ish there was the oscar isaac news of like oh he's attached to lead that and now this seems like this is probably a reset point for them of like hey i don't know if oscar isaac is still attached it didn't say anything in the article i'm hella skeptical about this for like so many reasons one and like the main thing if you read like the entire article like these motherfuckers are making a lot of shit and like i am never confident in the studio system being like hey guys this is our new this is our new duo and we're going to put them in charge of everything they're making a gremlins movie they're making a movie with steven spielberg on top of that they're doing this they're doing that they're making a venom animated project for sony they're now doing a metal gear something i'm not saying that they're unable to work on all these things of course it's various degrees of working on these things i think they're writing the gremlins movie they're not directing it but still that's a lot of work to put on a table of two people who just made their first feature film like big feature you know big deal film which is a sequel to uh final destination right so yeah to me it's like I've not seen the new Final Destination.

12:14Tim Gettys:I don't know how good it is. I know people really liked it. I am kind of a little bit skeptical to be like, hey guys, we have this sequel that worked really well and made a lot of money. Okay, well now they're the guys to make Metal Gear Solid. Are you fucking kidding me? That's a huge jump. And maybe their Freaks movie, which I haven't seen either, is really amazing. But that's a massive jump right there to be like, hey, you guys made a sequel to a legacy franchise. Now you're going to make one of the hardest film adaptations of all time. Yeah, that's the thing. Because when we get into the actual content of Metal Gear Solid That's where I get like I don't even know if I want this movie Metal Gear Solid Is when we get into the conversation of Video game adaptations versus other mediums When you get into the comics, when you get into the books I think a lot you can do there as far as Interpretation and fully realizing What this looks like in a cinematic sense Books aren't necessarily Cinematic, well in your brain they are But when you're reading, it's not cinematic Inherently, right?

13:07Same with comic books Video games, and this is where I land with why i think the last of us season two especially didn't work and why i worry about god of war why i worry about things like horizon right when you are adapting something even though horizon i think is has been rumored to be a prequel even though that got rebooted so who knows what that's going to be um but when you're adapting something based off of an already existing uh video game story when you're going beat for beat i have a cinematic version of the story already it's called metal gear solid yep you know what i mean that game and that series has been developed to present like a movie i know when you do a live action movie there are things you can do there of course there's codec calls and all these things and so much story that you can recontextualize in ways that make more sense for a film but i don't look at metal gear solid and go oh i wish this had performance i wish this had voice acting i wish this had visuals because it has those things already

14:03Tim Gettys:and also it's it is very cinematic of course kojima is a very cinematic video game director but it is especially metal gear solid one like i just recently played that for the first time maybe six months ago it is such a video game at its core like there is like a lot of mechanics that you you know changing the fucking you know the the the player one to player two thing with the psycho mantis battle like there's a lot of very video gamey things that are weird and unique and are definitely not gonna be able to translate to film right you have to be very very creative to do that of course you know do you want that translated to film it's going to be maybe a little kitschy and weird yeah but at the at the end of the day like i do see a world where you can make a metal gear solid movie that's going to be pretty great i mean i think you see you see what that game is you see how you can adapt that it's just i think i would need directors that i am sold on being visionaries who would be your i mean honestly the craziest one it would be the people that directed everything everywhere all at once i know that's like not necessarily like i need somebody that is like willing to think outside the box see that's so funny to break it all because like this isn't my pick but i almost want somebody who's like edgar wright-esque you know somebody who understands the tongue-in-cheek nature if you're going to lean into the video gamey aspects of it right of like put the controller you need you got to have somebody that is willing to play around with the medium in interesting ways yes and i i do think a horror is actually an interesting side to go about it so the more i'm talking about the more i'm like thinking about like okay horror is like a great avenue to kind of adapt especially like the uh the whole uh not sniper wolf what's the guy with the one eye i was the great mantis uh gray wolf oh yeah wait sniper wait the guy with the one fucking eye the cyborg guy cyborg ninja cyborg ninja i don't know why no well he's no great great fox great fox there it is yeah uh that it's that's a horror segment right like there's there's harder elements in this game and there's that element that's that feeling of dread throughout it when you're going through it honestly a great one for me is zach craig that craig the director of weapons and he's doing the res and uh barbarian and now he's doing the resident evil movie and he is interesting i'm very excited for his resident evil movie because it is not an adaptation of the games it is a it's in the universe it's going to have umbrella corp but it's not going to be we're not going for the lore we're just going to make something that's in the vein of it and i think that's really interesting and to have a director that gets the source material and is able to kind of add on top of it that's the best case scenario in my opinion who directs the mission impossible movies a bunch of people uh the latest guy is mcquery i forget his

16:33Blessing Adeoye Jr.:first name um my thing who directed maybe fallout because that fallout is probably my the latest christopher mcquery favorite one that i have um yeah you're right christopher mcquery i and maybe it's not maybe it doesn't come down to director i don't know but i would if you were going to go i guess the more serious route say it's like less of the edgar wright we're tongue in cheek we're doing all this crazy shit if you were gonna go we're making a grounded like real metal gear solid movie that takes itself fully seriously i think you would have to go that route i think you would have to be like this you would have to take the mission impossible team maybe even take tom cruise and go hey i'm not saying tom cruise stars as snake because i don't think that works but like maybe he he is overseeing it to some extent of like what this looks like but you would have to go full all in this is the next mission impossible that we're doing is metal gear solid but i think

17:22Tim Gettys:that like mission impossible mission impossible is less interesting than a metal gear like metal gear is so much more political and weird and scary like honestly as we're talking about it it's the answer that i've given for multiple video game um adaptations and he's doing a video game adaptation right now and filming right now and that's alex garland who's directing the oh i like that and that's like a perfect that's the perfect guy right he did ex machima he did civil war 28 years later annihilation like annihilation has that vibe of course it's very different alien right have you seen annihilation i've seen that that movie has that cool dread of like that feeling of like what is happening i'm going deeper and deeper and deeper something i don't understand yeah and like alex garland would kill it and he's a gamer he gets video games like he's my guy for i he's doing the elden ring thing i wanted him to do gears of war i think he would kill it with Gears of War.

18:13Tim Gettys:He recently did Warfare, which is, you know, a war movie and adding that with the alien stuff. He is the guy to do that stuff. But horror is not a bad way to go about it. I'm just a little skeptical of these two people specifically who have just gotten into the, you know, Hollywood sphere of making these big budget movies. I think that's always a tricky situation. Marvel does that a lot. They're like, hey, here's an indie director. Now here's 300 million dollars to make everything. Oh, it didn't work. Oh, fuck. Okay. You're dead now. You're gone. It's a director jail. Like that's what happens a lot of the time.

18:41Tim Gettys:And that's very scary. in a precarious situation. I'm trying to think of a... There's a movie... The word narcos keeps coming in mind, and that's not a movie, that's a TV show. There's a movie that's like a... Almost like a militaristic drug crime film that came out in the mid-2010s. Oh, Sicario. Sicario. That's Denis Villeneuve. Villeneuve. That would be crazy. Something about that, I feel like. I mean, that... If you take some of that... He wouldn't be able to do it because he's doing the James Bond movies, but that would be crazy. That would be... Something about that, oh that would be that would be really no that would actually be nuts so now we're talking about a bunch of things that are not happening right now i'm just getting excited yeah i love that because i think there's something yeah this announcement doesn't inherently excite me i think for all the reasons you're talking about where i look at these names i'm like all right whatever i don't really these aren't the directors or these aren't the people that i would look at and go oh hell yeah metal gear that's the perfect fit or whatever but i also on the other side of it i think i just don't really even want a metal gear solid movie yeah i don't i'm just not craving it I'm, it's not that I, I don't know, I go back and forth where it's like, I can see it being a very good movie.

19:43Tim Gettys:And if, if done well, it would hit and would be a massive, massive smash hit. Like I see no issue with that. And I don't think it's one of those games that I see it like, oh, you can't adapt this. Like you can't adapt it. It just is probably going to lose the sauce, the Kojima sauce and the weirdness. Oh, for sure. It's just going to be a pretty straightforward political crime spy thriller, which is that really what you want? You want the weirdness. You want the funny tongue in cheek. Like, here's my thing is, I love those kind of movies. Like, when you say political spy thriller, I love that shit.

20:13It doesn't have to be Metal Gear, though. Like, if it's not Metal Gear, then just don't make it Metal Gear. No, but that's... And I know we're talking about IP and business. Yeah, that's Hollywood, right? That's Hollywood.

20:21Tim Gettys:Everything is IP now. But people, we're going to shit on it. Like, that's the thing is they're going to make it, and it's not going to feel Metal Gear, and gamers are going to go, well, this fucking sucks, and it's going to blow back on you. And this is also where a few things I want to bring up. One, this is Sony, who is, they're producing and making this movie. They're also doing the Fizzant movie, which is also funny. Oh, yeah. So that's also pretty funny. They're doing the Kojima version of a Metal Gear game and movie also at Sony. So that's, I don't know how. I think in Fermil's a movie. I still am like.

20:51Tim Gettys:He said he was doing multiple things, right? Yeah. I believe he said he's doing a movie. It is like a cross-media thing. Yeah, with Sony Pictures specifically. Gotcha. That's weird. I have questions about that. I'm sure Kojima's looking at this and being like, the fuck is going on here? Like, I wonder if he got the heads up, if he got like the, hey, bro. me i i took it as like do you do you remember defiance yeah yeah yeah defiance like a sci-fi it was a sci-fi game that had television like integration like crossover to it and they try to create it as a multimedia thing i almost viewed fizzit as that we're like all right you're talking about doing cross-media shit we might have to like re-watch i don't know if we have a link to the kojima uh fizzit announcement that we can revisit but yeah i wonder what that really looks like that's a great call maybe it is like more of a defiance situation yeah you know use the movie or use the other media to expand the world.

21:38Tim Gettys:Because they did the thing in the video where it zooms out and it's like Sony pictures or whatever, right? Yeah, I'm going to look through it as we talk here. But they do that. But also Sony in general has been talking about for a while now. They don't have IP. They don't know what the fuck they're doing. They have Karate Kid. They have Final Destination, which is one of the things that, yeah, if we can skip towards the ending when they do the zoom out. Yeah, they zoom out. They do the whole thing. God, this is so cool. This is so random and cool. I like how they fist bump. that's pretty dope and it goes out and they're on a production lot look how cool this looks yeah it's on the sony pictures wait can you can we can we like just turn on the volume columbia picture and watch the second half of this well doesn't that doesn't the water tower say sony yeah so i it's columbia the same company okay gosh oh you're not too much

22:29Blessing Adeoye Jr.:we hope to transcend the barriers between video this project and we will fully support you with The latest innovation Sony has to offer. More details to come. Okay, so pause that. So, yeah, he doesn't say it's going to be a... He says they're hoping to transcend... Wait, go back to the sub-time. I need to see the exact wording. We hope to transcend the barriers between film and video games.

22:53Tim Gettys:What does that mean? What does that mean? Clearly a collaboration with Columbia and Sony. So, there is some connective tissue there. All I'm saying is it is interesting that Sony's publishing a Metal Gear movie and also working on Fizzin which has some film element in it and then on top of that Sony is now over here trying to figure out video game movies and trying to jump on that trend so this is just the beginning right? Everybody jumping on the trend Everybody jumping way too late We've been saying this for years that this was going to happen Now Metal Gear Great call, sure, go forward Fucking Astro Bot, Astro Bot's the next one No it's not I think you get You have Sony Animated Yeah, but I feel like there's IP that works better for a TV.

23:37And I think they're doing it. Because, like, they're doing Gravity Rush, dude. Like, they're just doing whatever. That's not happening.

23:41Tim Gettys:There's no way. I mean. There's no way they're making it. It has been a very long time since they announced it. They did that and Patapon, which is the worst. Did they say Patapon also? Yeah, they said Patapon as well. What are they doing? Like, that was an insane situation. What are you guys doing? Everything has to be IP now. But why are you choosing those IPs? You have your PlayStation. If it exists, we're making it. Why are you shooting yourself on the foot? You have one all. we can't make an original thing that would do great everything's crashing everything we can't put money into an original idea so as long as an IP that has sold at least five units in the past we'll make something out of it yeah I mean we'll sell a Patapon movie they've been talking about Ghost of Tsushima they've been talking about you know Horizon right but like I think this is just the beginning well yeah Uncharted I forgot about that are they even making an Uncharted 2 movie yes apparently allegedly also Avi Arad but also Avi Arad is a part of good movies too so it doesn't really matter yeah um but yeah i don't know this is the beginning of something and i would say in the next within this year you're gonna get like two to three more playstation video game sony announcements for movie adaptations like hooper no it's not like hooper i if i were to get honestly i think ashore bot i think ashore bot is a is a slam dunk of like if you do an animated version of it it gets the kids it gets it in front of the kids of all these playstation characters it's easy it's a fun little robot that's saving the day he comes out of a place in you they go they show the trailer shows a playstation kids playing places animated kids and it goes inside my problem with this boom is that we here's i we should be in an alternate universe where the mario movies were made by like a different studio and illumination makes astrobot because illumination and astrobot astrobot would be such the perfect marriage yeah they're just minions yeah but also it's like it's all the references without the substance which is what astrobot is in terms of story not in terms of gameplay a lot of substance in the gameplay but you get what i mean like yeah that's minions right there sure but then you also have the sony animated studio which isn't killing it like absolutely destroying it like their that their team over there is doing some amazing stuff and that's who should be making the mario movie i mean yes we should switch spots if we can switch spots like hey we'll give you give us mario i think that's an easy trade that makes sense right five million dollars for one billion dollars looking at me like what the fuck are you talking about no we're not giving you mario yeah yeah Yeah, we're going to see a lot more of this, and I'm, I don't know, lukewarm on this announcement.

26:01Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Well, let's move on to story number two. Amazon Luna has stopped offering individual games and subscriptions from third-party stores. This is Chris Skolian at Video Games Chronicle. Amazon has announced that it has stopped offering individual game and subscription purchases through its Luna streaming service. At the moment, Luna, formerly known as Amazon Prime Gaming, offers two subscription services, Luna Standard and Luna Premium. Until today, players could also link their Luna account to their accounts on the EA, Ubisoft, or GOG stores and buy games on those stores. These games would then also be playable on Luna's cloud streaming service, allowing players to play them without installing them to their PC.

26:41Blessing Adeoye Jr.:However, in an email being sent to some subscribers, Amazon has announced that this feature has been stopped as of today as it focuses on the Luna standard and Luna premium services. Starting today, April 10th, Amazon Luna no longer offers, quote, game stores, individual game purchases, or third-party subscriptions, and has removed the EA, Ubisoft, and GOG stores. Players who previously purchased titles through Luna can continue to play them until June 10th, at which point Luna will no longer support them. They'll be playable through EA, Ubisoft, and GOG stores they were redeemed on. Games that were also carried over through the Bring Your Own Library feature, where purchases made directly from EA, Ubisoft, or GOG, could be brought to Luna for streaming will also no longer be supported from June 10th.

27:24Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Luna is also no longer selling subs to Ubisoft Plus and Jackbox Games. Players who subbed to these through Luna will have their active subscriptions canceled at their next billing cycle, meaning they'll have to resubscribe elsewhere. Some players will be eligible for a free membership to Luna Premium. Amazon will be contacting these players on or after June 10th with details on how to claim the offer. Quote, What's staying and getting even better? We're doubling down on a broad range of gaming experiences, including strong third-party titles delivered in ways that make great games more accessible, as well as new and unique gaming experiences like Game Night, Amazon wrote.

28:02Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Quote, we appreciate you being a part of our journey, and we're excited to continue delivering great games and gaming experiences through Luna Standard and Luna Premium, like Judge Snoop Dogg. End quote.

28:13Tim Gettys:No, I didn't say the Judge Snoop Dogg part. I added that part. Come on. I have insight into this blessing I have a lot of insight into this Because last weekend I booted up Luna And I played it with a group of friends For Leanne's birthday I needed some type of Game night situation So I was like okay maybe Jackbox Maybe I want one of these fucking board games What are the digital board games you set up on your phone And I was like Oh Amazon Luna exists And oh I have Amazon Prime So let's look into this and it was kind of impressive when it comes to like the game night offerings that they had it was exactly what i wanted it is a disaster when it comes to the way that they've structured this because you have no idea what you it's part of the prime subscription and what's not so honestly this is probably the smartest thing for them to do because when you go on the service it works very well for the most part there's one one of us uh couldn't like use the fucking we would connect and would disconnect our phone all the time for some reason but other than that it was a pretty like seamless experience but when you go to the actual service itself it has all of these games you click on them and like oh this is not included in the thing oh i thought this game was included no you have to pay six dollars for the jackbox membership oh one of the jack jackbox games are included in the luna standard and it just got very confusing very fast so it makes a lot of sense that they're like hey we're cutting all the third-party stuff because unlike i think that they were trying to make this like their uh amazon prime video subscription where they have prime and then they have the store where people can buy things and then they can you know basically use it as a rental subscription place uh or just a rental uh video platform but video games are so much more expensive you know i mean like the the server cost of it all it doesn't make sense for the amount of people clearly the chat is looking at it they're the people that would be using this they're like we're not using this no one's using this so cutting it all makes sense sorry to the 16 users that are playing it and actively playing control on there or whatever but when it comes to the actual what this is and what luna is supposed to be it is for my purposes of hey i have a bunch of people over we want a game night we don't want to buy the jackbox games or we want just the the basic offerings of you know we want to draw something on the tv and guess what we each draw that's what this is and it worked really well and also i will say i did try out the stoop dog game yeah what's the verdict the verdict ding ding ding it's pretty funny it was it was very like complex of course it's ai it that sucks oh i forgot about that part that side of it sucks right but wait what's ai about it a lot so you go in there you have you have ai voice right but then you talk just new deal double g literally a robot yeah exactly and then the whole idea is that one person's a defendant one person's a plaintiff right so then i want the defendant has to say into the microphone on your phone what is like they're suing the other person for so you just say like a general thing like i my thing was like i was going up against lianza and i said oh lianza gave it said that this weed was going to be mid but it was fucking really loud and it was you know it made me really paranoid and i was just fucked up from it i was trying to do a weed based thing right i wanted to see the limit really loud it's crazy uh so i said all that and then it figured it out it knew exactly what i was saying and it like rephrases like okay so you're selling, you're suing Leanza for a hundred million dollars because you wanted some fucking mid ass weed.

31:34Tim Gettys:And she gave you that shit that got you paranoid. And it's like, and then when she lands, it has to go then and then rebuttal. And then it's just literally, you're just talking to Snoop Dogg. It's like, Hey, you're deflecting right now. I'm no, I'm not going to go with that niece. And then he goes over to me and then gives me thing. It's stupid. It's like not worth the fucking, you know, leaders of water. That might be like the first good argument for Jenna. I'm not going to lie. That sounds pretty hilarious. It was awful, but it was also very, it was also very funny but other than that we played you know the drawing games we played with some of the jackbox stuff the jackbox stuff was actually a pretty good deal it was like six bucks for all the jackbox games for like really like once a month yeah exactly like it's like a subscription service so that was actually a pretty good value of like hey if you have a bunch of friends how many times you're actually playing jackbox you know i mean spend the six bucks rent it essentially play all the jackbox games you want then just let it lapse but so that sucks that that's going other than that i think this is probably a good move to kind of streamline what this platform is so when judge snoop dog talks back to you is he does he sound like snoop dog yes wow yeah does he curse no he gets pretty close to him he's talking about weed he's talking about like explicit stuff but he was not cursing and everything he called lands a niece a lot he would say niece oh yeah because he calls everybody yeah yeah nephew and niece i thought they were his real nephews for a while like he was on an episode a while now and i think i think he called nick cannon his nephew like wow and i was like i didn't know nick cannon and snoop dog were like really related but nick the crazy thing is that snoop dog does have actual family because sasha banks is like related to snoop dog actually right and when somebody told me that i was like oh but like in the snoop dog niece nephew way right no they're like no that's actually his cousin or whatever i was like oh oh wow yeah it's not just the niece and nephew situation yeah shout out

33:13Blessing Adeoye Jr.:everybody we got more stuff to talk about roger actually before we talk about anything else let you bring in a couple of super chats here because i've been not looking at them like i should um marco's writes in and says late to the party any kind of funny friends make it to the takanaka concert last night awesome stuff i didn't know that was happening no that's cool um alvaro says never forget the guy who lost 6 000 hours in red dead redemption 2 because stadia closed tough it's real you should have known that yeah you should know that was gonna happen i feel like when if you're closing a service i feel like we should have the technology where you can take your save file and convert it to a different platform yeah i know that's probably like there's probably weird hurdles isn't that just cross save yeah i guess so yeah yeah you're right it should be a law we should make it happen more um miles says kojima and george miller should co-direct the mgs film kojima no kojima's too busy man and also i don't know

34:12Tim Gettys:he couldn't be uh sequestered to two and a half hours of a film that movie would be way too long it would be a disaster i know i'm i don't want to sound like the guy who just watched lord of the first time but because you are because i am but let me tell you the kojima extended cut of the milling your solid movie i'd be there for it you'd be there just sitting there for 30 minutes during a codec call did you watch the extended version of lord of the ring absolutely not no i mean now i might go back and watch it oh wow really that was a good movie hell yeah have you heard this lord of the rings guy pretty good walking the hobbit pretty good it's pretty good this guy frodo baggins real short real short real short uh silver j hawkins says sony is just wasting

34:49Blessing Adeoye Jr.:money until they make knack 3 uh multi steven says bless uh denis velneuve also did the recent well i know he did dune and blade runner oh blade runner would have actually been a good touchstone but i said sicario because sicario in my mind is kind of what i'd want the metal gear solid to like almost feel like in a way but yeah i know he did do it i love the dune movies um demon hacker says metal gear one would be a better movie than metal gear solid i could see it i feel like there's more that you can pull from there i don't know nothing about that i'm going to be honest when i say more you can pull from i guess i mean more you can be inspired from without having to make it one for one yeah because there's so much content in metal gear solid that i think a movie would feel lesser than whereas if you make a metal gear movie i think then it's like okay we take what's here and we turn it into something that feels cinematic.

35:38Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Not Calvin Perez says Jordan Peele, Alex Garland, or the Wachowskis would be my picks. The Wachowskis would be crazy. Wachowskis. Wachowskis, sorry. JBC says, that's why I prefer games be adapted into TV shows rather than movies. TV shows have the time to fully adapt stories. Ooh, and Apple TV. Those are solid. See, Apple would be the ones I would trust with it because they've been on such a good run lately. They've got so much money.

36:01Tim Gettys:They'll spend it all. They don't give a shit.

36:02Blessing Adeoye Jr.:For sure. peaceful warhead says someone said psycho mantis is going to start reading off your letterbox reviews that's pretty sick actually that's really funny uh aaron line says wild that kojima gave i i feel like i mispronounced his name you said avi arid is that how you pronounce yeah that's what i said yeah avi arid the rights to the movie way back don't like don't like arid but we got keifer and meliga solid 5 from it so it's a bit of a trade oh okay that makes sense i mean avi

36:30Tim Gettys:Aaron, again, has a lot of stinkers, but his name is attached to so many good movies. It's like, we can really pick and choose. I mean, he did his number on a lot of the Spider-Man stuff, so I understand why people don't like him for a lot of reasons.

36:42Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Miles says, friends are good, but best friends can be better. Put it on the shirt, everybody. Put it on the shirt. The podcast you're listening to, I know you got someone you like that likes, mail you're solid. Send them this episode. Hey, I got two of the funniest guys in the world.

36:54Tim Gettys:I got two of the funniest guys. They're going to make you laugh.

36:57Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Might make you cry later in the show. You don't know. and then uh zero writes in and says i did a i did invite a friend recently what's up lyle what up lyle come on come on lucid dream says money to teach roger elite speak from 2001 do you know about elite speak i mean a little bit what's your favorite elite word i don't know

37:15Tim Gettys:let's give me an example i don't know i don't think about this i don't it's been a while since i was like on the elite speak side of the internet i used to i used to read a web comic called mega Tokyo and they'll do a lot of Elite Speak in that. Pretty sick. But I haven't even thought about Elite Speak in a decade. That's crazy. Money to teach. I was taught it. I don't remember it anymore. Don't be a noob. See, Elite Speak strikes me as one of those things that's probably been co-opted by bad people on the internet by now. Pwned, pwned, pwned. I was saying pwned a lot, yeah. Noob. Oh, of course I know Mega.

37:48Yeah, Neo Aoshi. Is that really? And everyone's acting like, oh, this is the, Roger gotta know pwned? You don't know pwned? I know pwned. I was in Modern Warfare 2 lobbies getting called slurs. 41:53Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Participate in McDonald's while supplies last. And we're back with story number three. Marathon reportedly had a budget of over$200 million. This is Wesley Yenpool at IGN. A new report has claimed Marathon's budget is over$200 million, and while player numbers have fallen significantly since launch, Bungie's extraction shooter is allegedly not facing an imminent shutdown. Forbes reported that the Marathon budget is likely more than$250 million. It's worth noting that this spend allegedly does not include ongoing costs for the live service game, nor the development of post-launch content. last month one analyst said quote marathon hasn't exactly made the splash sony and bungee wanted estimating sales at around 1.2 million copies that alinea analytics said amounted to gross revenues of around 55 million dollars across pc via steam ps5 and xbox on steam marathon hit a peak concurrent player count of 88 337 at launch but that number has fallen steadily over the past month with the latest 24-hour peak hitting 25 ,392 players.

43:04Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Of course, Marathon is also out on PS5 and Xbox, but neither Sony nor Microsoft make player numbers available for public. Still, PC is clearly the dominant platform for Marathon with an estimated 70 % of the sales, so those Steam concurrence give us a decent idea of how it's tracking. Bungie is under pressure to deliver for Sony after recent and very public financial failings. In November, Sony said Bungie had failed to meet its sales and user engagement expectations, recording a 31.5 billion yen, that's approximately$204 million, impairment charge as a result of Destiny 2's underperformance. That was significantly enough to drag down profits at Sony's Game and Network Services segment, which includes Sony Interactive Entertainment.

43:49Blessing Adeoye Jr.:According to Forbes, Bungie developers are working hard on new content and there is no danger of an imminent shutdown but after what happened to sony's own concord and more recently high guard everything surrounding marathon feels a little on edge roger does that number astound

44:06Tim Gettys:you 200 million dollars you get the sticker shock at first and then you start doing the math and you start thinking about it i mean i i think if i was pitched from the people that made destiny and destiny 2 and halo and said hey we got a brand new franchise or we're bringing back an old franchise that's a new franchise now uh that's gonna be our next big thing we really care about it's a new emerging genre you know we want to put our team on it make something that's visually cool and interesting i'd be like yeah here's 200 million dollars because destiny one looking at it sold 500 million dollars worth of units in the first you know month right like of course you're going to give them the money and also the how big that team is and what they're working towards and how big triple a is like everything's 200 million dollars everything that's the thing we're talking about what was it the square enix game not square enix uh the crystal dynamic no it was oh oh it was montreal montreal yeah that's like you know over a hundred million dollars that's a random you know what i mean like this is how triple eight game development is it is extraordinarily expensive so to me seeing the new game from the creators of destiny you know that's 200 million dollars that doesn't really shock me i mean should this game have been way cheaper probably with the amount of with how big the audience is right it's such a it's such a weird one because to your point this is kind of where in the last few years with leaks and internal documents coming to light and all this shit it feels like this is becoming more of the standard at that high as a top level of triple a you know what i mean if you say sony first party is putting out a game it's probably gonna be around this range which is a crazy number but we're talking we've been saying for years video video games are becoming more expensive to make what do we think that means when we say that sentence they're getting like yeah this is what we mean the games are getting uh more expensive to make they're taking longer to make which in turn makes them more expensive you know what i mean like this i think is par for the course but also this lines up with everything that we're

46:00Blessing Adeoye Jr.:we've been talking about as far as the precarious place that video games industry is yes where we're talking about a matured medium that is struggling to continue to grow in the way that shareholders the people that invest money want to see that line go up it's like no the line is has evened out and so when you're putting in more and more money and the line isn't going up up up yeah like disaster is disaster is going to happen so i'm looking at this and i'm like damn dude i'm scared for bungie you know and i like i like marathon i'm i surprisingly like marathon but to your point as far as should that much money have gone into marathon i think about it from the from the idea of the kind of game that marathon is and what bungie is doing with it and the price of trying to do something fresh because i think marathon works on a lot of really cool levels but not on any of the levels that would make it a mainstream video game yeah you know what i mean like if you wanted to make something the arc raiders way not in the not in the arc raiders way or even like not in the destiny way i guess is what i'm thinking right i think there are genres of games or types of video games that are proven and that are safe you know and so like for bungie if you wanted to make something that was going to be a sales hit you would just make like a destiny

47:23Tim Gettys:three you know what i mean you would make a make another halo make another halo or something that's like a halo like obviously because they couldn't make a halo but you're making an a an extraction shooter that takes place in the marathon universe i know it's like a reboot or whatever but you have a lot of weird cool sci-fi shit going on and as i'm playing this i'm like damn this is really fresh this is working for me this is doing a lot of really cool things and no at no point do i look at marathon as i'm playing it and go this is gonna be the most popular game everybody i know to play this yeah there's a lot of friction in that game and there's a lot of unfriendliness to new players that i think is just inherent to what they're trying to do here i admire the game but i guess what i'm saying is that of course it's not it yeah and like i don't know what that means as far as bungie working on a brand new triple a 200 million dollar product yeah was it the wrong move to make marathon i guess probably on the financial sense but on the same i guess for me is like the passionate video game player right part of me is also like dude the fact that they're doing something this weird and different and it has a 200 million dollar budget and it has a 20 million it reminds me of death straining yeah where i'm like death straining is such a weird fucking game and i can't believe it was made on triple a scale and i fuck with it for that yeah and i i guess i feel the same way about marathon but death straining has a lot of shit that marathon doesn't as far as ways to get in front of people and ways to sell that to the audience again like we were split between two sides of it right as the commentators talking about the business side of it right should they have done this should they not and then also just the people that enjoy cool weird video games right so then you have to kind of look at this and be like oh i don't give a fuck like i don't give a fuck about the business side of it i hope it stays around because it is a multiplayer game right so it's not like one of those of like death straining where yeah if nobody buys death straining at least i can still play it exactly there's a chance where you can never play marathon again or in a way that is official like this time next year yeah yeah i might not be able to play marathon anymore but we have to look at this and be like oh like i'm happy that this happened i'm happy that somehow the the you know all of the administration changes and all the weirdness that happened with playstation 200 million dollar marathon slipped through right but yeah i mean i'm sure they're looking back and playstation looking back at this and saying hindsight 2020 this would have been a smaller project this would have been a quarter of the budget but with ballooning we would have we would have went hey let's incubate like a part of bungie to be the marathon team and then now the rest of you go work on destiny 3 is that what they're not doing i assume marathon is a is their is their game yeah yeah that's tough yeah yeah i kind of always thought about it maybe just not looking at the news just literally looking at what marathon was i always assumed it was the smaller project in the team and then everyone else is working on something else so yeah this that's that's that's the surprise i mean chat correct me if i'm wrong about that i assume marathon is yeah the all hands on deck this is destiny's or not destiny sorry this is bungie's big game yeah and then who knows what they're going to work on next that's tough yeah good game though hey marathon's pretty sick marathon's pretty good um but i'm looking in chat to see if anybody's giving nobody's really giving me anything according to leaks yeah this is the big one it looks like there's some disagreement in

50:35Blessing Adeoye Jr.:chat but i guess this might all just be speculation from chat so let's move on to story number four pokemon champions developer sincerely apologizes for launch issues details list of bugs to be fixed This is Tom Phillips at IGN. Following a rocky launch, the maker of Pokemon Champions has apologized for the game's various technical issues and released a list of bugs it's currently planning to fix. Champions, billed as the Pokemon franchise's new competitive battle platform, launched this week on Switch and Switch 2, but has received a mixed reaction from fans. There have been complaints of technical issues, some of which are now in the process of being fixed, but also wider criticism of the game's lack of features, limited graphical polish, and reduced Pokemon roster.

51:17Blessing Adeoye Jr.:I'm going to jump forward to the article where they quote a note from the developer saying, Thank you for enjoying Pokemon Champions. We have confirmed that the following issues are currently occurring. They then list a bunch of bullet points, which I saw when I logged into the game last night. Basically, they're fixing the there's a lot of errors in the games. Like some of them that they list, the description of leech seed state is incorrect. Under certain conditions, when both Pokemon mega evolve simultaneously, the order may be unintended. The gender of some Pokemon in the tutorial is incorrect.

51:47Blessing Adeoye Jr.:The gender of some Pokemon in the release coordinated teams is incorrect. When in the encore state, the ability lightning rod may not activate correctly. There's more. They then go on to say, quote, the above bugs are scheduled to be fixed and feature data updates or maintenance. The note continues, we'll continue to investigate other issues not mentioned above. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Thank you for your continued support of Pokemon Champions, end quote. An earlier issue surrounding the transfer of Pokemon from the cloud-based Pokemon home service has already been fixed.

52:18Blessing Adeoye Jr.:It's reported. This is such an interesting, weird one. Yeah. As far as what Pokemon Champions is, how bad this launch is, how much I'm still enjoying the game.

52:30Tim Gettys:Yeah, that's all that matters. that's all that matters yeah which so you've been playing it i've been playing it i was playing more last night i'm pretty much playing it like if i put on a show or whatever i might do a battle in the background yeah i'm like are you getting your ass beat you're learning um i was killing it at first yeah and then now i'm starting to run into people where it's like oh okay you know what you're doing and the more i run into these people the more i'm realizing how sick the pokemon vgc people are. Yeah. Where it's like, why do y 'all know? A lot of Jake Deckers out there.

53:00A lot of Jake Deckers out there. A lot of Jake Deckers. Where, why do y 'all know all these hidden numbers and mechanics? Like, why do y 'all... There's four buttons here. How do you know what's going on here? How are you figuring this out? Pokemon is a kid's game. Why are y 'all so sweaty in this thing?

53:15Tim Gettys:They're freaking out. Y 'all are sickos, man. Are you learning, though? Are you figuring out, like... Barely. Okay. It's crazy. You're just getting mollywopped. I'm getting mollywopped in ways where I'm like, I didn't know that move did that. Yeah. I didn't know that you're not even learning anything because you're so fucking flustered yeah it's like I'm not learning anything because it's also just the thing of like it's when it's over it's over yeah I don't know it's over until I get hit with a move and it takes out 100 % my HP and I'm like okay oh okay so you lowered my okay oh I didn't realize that that's what that did well I'm stuck yeah I'm stuck yeah and so um I say let's say that I don't know how long I'm gonna play Pokemon champions I'm enjoying it on the casual level but man tough man they're pwning me they're pwning you bro shout out to Price in Chat who said they're pwning you I'm glad they're changing things we'll see I hope this game gets to a place where enough people are happy with it everybody's not that's very nice though I want to sit down by most games I hope that this game gets to a place where most people are happy with it there will never be a place where everybody's happy with it there's not one game where everybody's happy but can we get enough people happy enough people enough people i mean i think after enough updates hopefully right you'll get the you know non-evolution versions of a lot of these characters you start to have that goodwill they just need to have the roadmap did they release a roadmap do they have one of these going on there to say hey we're gonna be next month doing this next month i think they're i think they're drawing the map as they go that's tough i think they're kind of this needs a roadmap i think we can't give the slack to pokemon company of like you guys need to figure your shit out and have a roadmap but you can't be acting like you're better than anybody else figure it out tell us what's going on it genuinely feels like they i think the biggest problem this game it feels like they released it way too early yeah it feels like this needed way more time it seems like after our conversation it feels like they're beta testing this so then by august they have a solid base for the actual competitive yeah for pokemon yes that's what this is this is the beta right now and then eventually they're gonna by august probably have the you know mobile version or

55:11Blessing Adeoye Jr.:whatever going on there and can make it happen yeah we'll see hopefully they get there story number five gunzilla ceo says haters are building the narrative that it doesn't pay his contractors

55:22Tim Gettys:and apologizes anyway this is chris scullion at video i love i love when ceos say haters bro like it's like my favorite shit in the world that and what was it the the mind's eye people right yeah he was a haters bro i loved it the mind's eye one we gotta start talking about haters bro there's so many haters can i tell you because the mind's eye story is probably my favorite story in the last week. This feels like part two to the Monzi story. Yes, it does. It's a different story, but the energy of it is such a similar thing. We gotta stop the haters. Did you get the part one to this yesterday? Yes, the guy was saying that, hey, I haven't been paid for a while.

55:58Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Let's read the story. The CEO of blockchain game development studio Godzilla Games has posted a lengthy and defiant response to claims that the studio doesn't pay its contractors. I'm going to pause there and remind y 'all that But, Gunzilla, that's the company that, I believe, owns Game Informer as well. Yes, they do.

56:16Tim Gettys:They're the reason Game Informer's back.

56:18Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Yeah. So, not that that has relevance here, but kind of scary. Something else, yeah. Another detail to think about. Gunzilla Games is the creator of NFT Battle Royale game Off the Grid and blockchain platform Guns. With a Z. With a Z. The studio has the backing of Hollywood director Blomkamp of District 9 and Chappie, who is credited as co-founder and chief creative officer on the company's website earlier this week paul creamer a vfx cinematic and gameplay animator who worked for gunzilla for a year posted a message on his linkedin page claiming that he hadn't been paid by the company for months and that he wasn't the only one this had happened to vgc contacted gunzilla for comment on the accusations but instead gunzilla ceo vlad korolev has taken to x aka twitter to address the situation claiming that haters are trying to paint a narrative to make the studio look bad sick korolev conceded that the company's payments were made at a time that suited the company and not those being paid then stated a quote full-time full-time official employees were paid on time many of the claims were made by contractors not employees yeah the real employees were paid even

57:34Tim Gettys:though all these people did work on it no we cared about the real one don't worry about them they're just contractors like this is they don't have lie they don't need to get paid i feel like this is the third story we've had in the last couple of weeks where it very much is people calling people out on their shitty behavior and going all the haters coming after us we did do those shitty things but it's the haters that are not coming after us haters is it a or is it these haters can't pay their rent they're broke boys is it what like what is it what are we doing

58:02Blessing Adeoye Jr.:quote off the grid today is not just part of web 3 gaming it defines it whether some people like it or not he claimed quote being named web 3 game of the year two years in a row

58:19are you game of the year two years in a row that's not how that works it's only one game it's only one year it's a year what year did you come out um being named web 3

58:30Blessing Adeoye Jr.:game of the year two years in a row today there's a new narrative from haters that gunzilla incorrectly laid off contractors or paid them with delays yes we are optimizing costs like every company in gaming crypto and tech is doing right now we've been doing this for over a year and yes to not disrupt company operations some paychecks may be scheduled in a way that works for the company's cash flow not always for everyone individually that's the reality of the world we live in.

58:58Tim Gettys:What?

58:59Blessing Adeoye Jr.:But to protect the interests of our players and our full-time official employees whose salaries over six years have never been delayed by more than a week. Okay. That's crazy.

59:10Tim Gettys:There's a lot of admitting going on. Yeah, exactly. We have never missed a payment. More than a week. More than a week. More than a week. Brother, a lot of this is going to be brought in court. Some people are late on their rent. Don't worry about it. It's only a week. God. Just talk to the landlord.

59:23Blessing Adeoye Jr.:He continues, we operate at a pace that ensures the company continues moving forward and of course we honor every obligation end quote despite seemingly defending the company's payment setup koralev then added quote we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused may have caused it's also worth noting that one of the loudest voices a contractor who finished working with us just a week ago was repaid immediately he said off the grid has been live for over 1.5 years and we're still here despite how much some people would love to see otherwise sorry sorry we won't be giving you that privilege okay end quote well

1:00:01Tim Gettys:yeah there's you know the way my bank account works i gotta check in i gotta check in savings yeah i gotta look out for me first yeah kevin harpit right yeah you're a contractor hey my main employees my full-time employees i pay them on time half the time yeah exactly you know i pay them 100 of the time my main shakes they get paid they get paid you know sometimes it might be a week late but they get paid don't worry about it incredible stuff what and people someone said in the chat there's an ai response it is not this is this is it's too dumb to be an ai response so fucking dumb they do have a lot of those dashes a lot of the end they do have the dashes so someone wrote a very unhinged thing into chat gpt and then chat gpt went and then just formatted it with like correct spelling and like didn't even change like this is just such a bad pr message for so many reasons right yeah he again did not need to say that he's basically admitting that he is uh skipped payment for a week uh occasionally for some of their full-time employees didn't need to say any of that could have just said hey we're figuring out some things in the back end well you know yada yada yada we apologize for any inconvenience that's what this could have been but no just completely just told on himself because he's so mad about everything incredible stuff damn i didn't realize there was it web three game of the year for two years in a row that's impressive though That's really impressive.

1:01:18I don't even think Elden Ring can manage that.

1:01:19Tim Gettys:No, it can't. That's crazy. Because that's not Web3. Yeah. Damn. That's awesome. Off the grid. That's incredible. Where do you think it was the Web3 Game of the Year awards? IGN. Probably not IGN. Probably not IGN. Jeff Keighley is doing a whole different thing. Yeah, pray for all the employees because they're bragging about being open for 1.5 years. That's not too long. It's long in the industry, but it's clearly with the way things are going on right now, if they're moving around, they're not paying certain people. that's that's not a great sign and also of course pray for game that's the thing i care about the

1:01:50Blessing Adeoye Jr.:most is game informer you know game informer is a company that we all love here and that has it just came back just came back has a storied legacy does great work um i you know my heart goes out to employees that work for the studio for the game studio as well yes but i don't really care about your web 3 games you know even if it was game of the year nfp game of the year Web 3.

1:02:10Tim Gettys:Web 3. Web 3. Web 3.

1:02:12Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Two years in a row, huh? That's really big. That's huge. But, Roger, if I wanted something smaller, say the tiniest news I needed to know about. Where would I go?

1:02:20Tim Gettys:You go to our last story. The Wii News channel will recover all the small news items you need to know about.

1:02:24Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Story number six is Wii News. Crimson Dev-er. Crimson Dev-er? Crimson Desert Dev. Crimson Desert Dev confirms boss rematches, hard difficulty, enemy territory recapture, and a whole lot more is coming to the game soon. if you want to read about that go over to Wesley and Poole at IGN who has a whole article breaking it down they also have a dev diary or press release actually is what it is if you want to look into that as well more Wii news for you from Wario64 Serenity Forge has posted a notice that Doki Doki Literature Club on Google Play was removed due to content that violates their terms and services in its depiction of sensitive themes.

1:03:02Blessing Adeoye Jr.:The game is still available on other platforms. The team will try to reinstate on Google Play and explore other options valor mortis is launching this fall that's really exciting that's the game from i believe they did ghost runner oh shit yeah these guys yes and he's pretty high for this one um it looks really cool looks really really cool speaking of really really cool dead is disco launches may 5th

1:08:41Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Destiny 2 was supposed to get a roadmap and an update earlier this year, but both got delayed.

1:08:50Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Kebabs writes in with the missed Wii news. The Ghostly Yotei Legends raid is now live. I'm not ready. Dude, I'm not.

1:08:57Tim Gettys:I haven't played it since the one time we played it on GameSkos plays. I know, it saddens me. We need to look at Roger. Or not Roger, sorry. We need to look at Mike, because I look at you guys as the same person. You guys are two abs of the same brain. That's fair. and go, let's just schedule a full week. We're playing Yotei Legends every single day.

1:09:12Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Go see Yotei Legends. We're grinding Yotei Legends. Riding that legend. That is it. Perfect show. Yeah, that is it for Wii News. Perfect show. Roger, it's been good doing the show with you. Great way to end the week, Blessing. Yeah. But not our content day. Not our content day. We got a lot of stuff. Because right after this, you guys asked for it, and we're going to deliver. Mike is going to review the Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time. for the first time. The Macarena of time.

1:09:40Tim Gettys:I'm sure that's a thing, right? Yeah, he calls it the Macarena. Oh, he calls it that? And then afterwards, we got a party mode. With Lego Party. And the one and only Joey Noel. It's going to be a really fun time. We're going to torture Joey. I'm not going to be there. You're not going to be there.
