In short

Kinda Funny Games Daily (July 16, 2025) covers (1) Nintendo/Sony’s live-action The Legend of Zelda film casting, (2) Donkey Kong Bonanza review roundup and early impressions, and (3) rumors about Sony Santa Monica’s next game not being a new IP (and not sci-fi).

Guests (hosts on this episode)

Greg Miller (host); Andy Cortez (host; Twitch.tv “Nitro rifle”); Texas Street (host); plus IGN’s Logan Plant and Tim Gettys appear later for the Donkey Kong Bonanza review segment.

Guest backgrounds

Logan Plant is an IGN writer; Tim Gettys is a Kind of Funny contributor who played the game for review; Rahul Kohli is mentioned as a friend of Benjamin Evan Ainsworth (from Bly Manor), but he is not a guest.

Key claims

Zelda film stars Bo Bragaason as Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link; photos’ authenticity is debated (set/costume tests vs paparazzi). Donkey Kong Bonanza is highly praised (IGN 10/10, OpenCritic 90). Sony Santa Monica’s next project “might feel like” a new IP but isn’t one, and isn’t sci-fi.

Notable examples

Comparisons to Detective Pikachu (CG realism), Mario movie tone debates, and Planet of the Apes director West Ball speculation.

1:55We'll have all this and more because this is kind of funny games daily.

2:06What's up everybody. Welcome to kind of funny games daily for Wednesday, July 16th, 2025. I'm one of your hosts, Greg Miller alongside the Hispanic heartthrob, Texas street, Latino heat, clicking heads and ripping them to shreds. the globe trotting headshot and three-point shooting rootin tootin call of duty champion nitro rifle from twitch.tv andy cortez quick think of something that rhymes with scoping open the b hoping quick scoping nitro rifle dominated yesterday greg it's funny to see roger just take l after l after l man i mean it wasn't even close can't grow hair man you know what i I mean, I know pick a counter pick to save his life and then challenges you.

2:55The nitro rifle. Come on. The world's greatest gamer challenges you to one V one in modern warfare two. And you clean his clock on the stream. I mean, everything against me in this case, Greg, like I had nothing. I had no chance in hell. He said, fuck it. Snipers on Cypress intervention or quick scope. And I was like, I thought we were playing on Russ. He said intervention is the name of the sniper. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So I was learning a lot about Call of Duty yesterday. Sure, yeah, yeah, yeah. It was cool to see the map the way it looked back there. Drop this kid anywhere, though. He's going to pick it up.

3:26And he's going to see the Matrix. Playing on controller. Like, what the fuck am I doing right now, Greg? Three-point shooting, rooting, tooting. No scoping? What is it? Yeah, it's no scoping. No scoping, no groping. Nitro rifle from Twitch.tv. Okay. Because you're good at Call of Duty, and you're a good guy. No scoping, quick scoping. No, no groping, quick scoping. Okay, so you can scope. Well. Because I said no scoping. You can scoping? It was called quick scoping. That's what the Call of Duty kids call it. It's like, you zoom in with the sniper, but before you get all the way, you shoot. So like, you know, like the zoom.

4:02Yeah, yeah, yeah. I gotcha. I feel you. And then fought Mike afterwards. Dominated Mike as well. No surprise there. Shout out to Roger. Roger got a little cocky. He was playing with his food a little bit. And then Daddy learned how to play. Yeah, that's all. A little bit. Once daddy's there. Once daddy's home, that's all you got to worry about. And if we play keyboard mouse, it would have been done. Yesterday would have been a 22-minute stream if we played keyboard mouse. Gotcha. Let me play on my home field. How did you celebrate your win last night? Let's see here. What did I do? I played an embargoed game.

4:37Ah, nice. Yeah. Is it the one that I also did or is the one you're doing? Both. Oh, you played both of the embargoed games last night? I'm playing both, yeah. Yeah, yeah, nice, nice, nice. What's up with this Little Caesars pizza? Did you pre-order? Buddy, it's coming at noon. Whoa! We are on this happy hour, aren't we? Yes. To run you through the order again, of course, if you missed happy hour. Great happy hour. If you're unaware of happy hour, we call it the Patreon call-in show for$25 members where you can call in to us. We answer your questions. We talk to you. You're on the show with us.

5:06In reality, what it is is just a two-hour-long kind of funny podcast where we kind of ignore you. You ask a question, but somehow it devolves into, I ordered two pepperoni pizzas, cheese in the crust, two crazy breads. I'm already mouthwatering. Cheese in the crazy bread. Then two orders of the pizza puffs, the cupcakes that are the pizzas. Because it's like the bread. It's like a cupcake, but a pizza. The bread is the crust, and then they got the sauce, and then they got the cheese on top of it. So it's like a little thing. Wow. Because we got to see. A little pastry. There was a big conversation yesterday of like, we need to chase the highs I had as a child, a little fat boy, when it was pepperoni and cheese in the crust and pepperoni and cheese in the crazy bread.

5:46And I know it won't be that good, but I have to try. Because again, somebody says hot and ready in there. Hadn't ready, hadn't ready. But this is my thing of like, I need to try a little Caesars where they tried. And they're trying. This isn't a hot and ready. This is I ordered ahead via the app. All right. This better be hot, delicious and made. This isn't the B team working on a multiplayer shooter. This is the A team working on the core game. You got the interns out there shitting out these hot and readies, cheeses, pepperonis. Now I need a legitimate one. You got the C team working on Super Mario Sunshine.

6:16Meanwhile, the real team is working on the next big Mario game. You know what, Andy? You know what, Andy? I'm excited for that pizza. Did that entice you? Because you got to go home and watch Superman Returns. And so you were trying to leave right after Games Daily. Did the free pizza entice you to stick around? Unfortunately, the free pizza will be arriving while I'm still in the fast period. I didn't know you were doing intermittent fasting. I apologize. How's that going for you? Oh, it's great. Yeah, it's great. When do you eat that? When do you eat? I feel like I should be more aware of your life.

6:41I mean, it's not really a scheduled thing. It's like whenever I just stop eating the prior... Whenever I could stop myself from eating the prior night. Sure. So usually it's on 8.30 or 9, meaning I won't eat until 1 or 2 or whatever time I stopped eating the prior night. Okay. Just, you know, force feeding myself down the toilet. Sure, sure, sure. Well, that's a weird way to do it. That's how you get foie gras, but that's a conversation for another time. because this is Kind of Funny Games Daily. Today's not the day where we'll do something special for the one birthday person. JBC00L says, FYI, Nintendo SF is opening tomorrow at 9 a.m. for Donkey Kong. Oh, wow. That's interesting. Are they doing something special? Do they usually open at 10? Yeah, they usually open at 10. There better be a full costume Donkey Kong there. Do you think it's Seth Rogen? It better be. No.

8:52Why is Seth Rogen just fat Albert? and then another birth infamous Zach has a belated birthday tax. I turned 39 yesterday. Hey, Greg, what do I have to look forward to when I turn 40? Nothing's different. Don't worry about it. Yeah, people, people get hung up on ages. Like it's a big deal. Don't worry about it. You're fine. I think 50 is like really the date. That's really the year when you go. All right, maybe I should worry about this retirement fund. You know, something like that. Yeah, you could do it. You could do that there. Yeah, I guess. Yeah. 60 sounds like. Honestly, no, like 65, 70 is where it sounds like that's a thing.

9:34To me. Because I'm already 40. Well, I mean, I look at Tom Cruise jumping off airplanes at the ages of 85. And I'm like, damn. Yeah. He could do it forever. He could do it forever. Housekeeping for you. Remember, we're a small business all about live talk shows. Friday game showdown returns with special, a special four episode, Nick Scarpino led mini series. 12:06seven items on the rope report

12:11a baker's dozen

12:16we have breaking news from the super chats Ty Wilkins VO says off topic but I was shocked when Greg mentioned Paw Patrol on the podcast as of the 11th I can say that I'm the voice of Jake in the miniseries spinoff Paw Patrol to the rescue on their YouTube wow i didn't know we had fucking royalty here ty wilkins get ready to get a phone call every hour this is one of those things where we're lucky ben can't answer the phone at preschool because i'd call him right now i would call him and let him know that is humongous news congratulations ty we will be checking that out for sure ben i'm picking you up you have a doctor's appointment We gotta go watch this YouTube show.

13:00That's crazy news. Number one on the Roper Report, Legend of Zelda live action movie casts... Casts? Why no one's cast like that? Bo Bragason and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Zelda and Link. This is Elise Schaefer at Variety. Nintendo and Sony's live action Legend of Zelda movie has unveiled its Zelda and Link. In a social media post on Wednesday, Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto revealed that Bo Bragason will be playing Zelda with Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link. alongside what seems to be the first look photos of the actors in costume. Quote, I am pleased to announce that for the live action film of The Legend of Zelda, Zelda will be played by Bo Braga, oh, Bragasun San, and Link will be played by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth San, reads the post on Nintendo's official account.

13:46I am very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen. I didn't know these were first looks. Hey, Chicago, class it up with Crocs. You know back to school is coming in fast. So why wait to find your new fave footwear? Step into a local croc store and step into your new look. Try it. Style it. Make it yours. Because the right pair doesn't just show up. It shows off. First day fits handled. Walk out ready for whatever's next. Visit your nearest croc store today. Yeah, we're getting a brunette link. I don't know how I feel about that. Yeah, here we go. Here come all the fanboys off the bench to be weird about it.

14:29Well, when he goes Super Saiyan, that's when he goes blonde. Oh, okay. Yeah, I forgot about that part of the lore. Yeah. All right. So, Andy, leave it up there. Clear your mind. Look at these. What are you thinking? How are you feeling?

14:44I think I'm most excited for the fact that our friend Rahul Kohli knows the guy who's playing Link from Bly Manor. Oh, was he one of the kids of Bly Manor? He was in Bly Manor. that's that so rahul posted and he was like holy shit let's fucking go you know super pumped for for his friend i'm like wow that puts us really really close so we can use one degree away yeah rahul will probably want to be on the show with them we'll have to decline him um i look at this and i go cool i i'm i'm excited for whatever this is i'm still really wishing that this were an animated property i still wish that this was given some sort of really cool stylistic 3d interpretation um i can't not look at any ghibli film art wise and go man i really wish i had zelda in this world but also just looking at all the recent sort of interpretations of what 3d animation can look like there are so many ways that could have you could have gotten really creative with this and i'm just i don't know it's uh it it's gonna be an odd one just trying to picture what how goofy the monsters look like in this world you know you talk about something like mass effect you look at the aliens in mass effect and you go these aliens could exist in cg alongside a live action person right like you could see you know these things would translate well but then i think of you know the bokoblins and stuff and i'm like how would they what are they gonna look are they gonna try to look super realistic what's the vibe gonna be we did see a lot of success with how i how i much you know maybe this is just coming from my opinion but um how much the the the pokemon looked in detective pikachu yeah how realistic they made those while still kind of like trying to stay true to the original vision um it's gonna be a fascinating one what are your thoughts greg not much to go off of on here yeah see there's rahul's uh media no effing way congrats bruv bruv that's how he says brother ah a lot of people get confused by that uh can i see the image again of the lincoln zelda here because i'll tell you what i don't so this is apparently as we the article is talking about here right from this is uh the first looks of the characters i don't like that he's wearing a henley but my first i looked at this and i was like oh they're just doing whatever and then i look at him like that that's just a henley from walmart look at the button that doesn't look like something that was made in coroco village or whatever maybe these are hold on maybe maybe these are just proofs of like set images like i don't know i when these just trying to get the vibes you know yeah like kind of like proof you know when james gonna post his cg sort of like tests or whatever yeah do you think we eventually see blonde hair?

17:35Do you think we eventually see a little hat? Do you think they CG his blonde hair? No, you don't CG. We don't have the technology to get it blonde. Now, Lucy Dream says, when does Greg think buttons were invented? There's a difference between a button being invented, some old hag next to the blacksmith, next to the guy who's butchered. Using a fingernail. You know what I mean? Versus this one where this guy went to a target and bought a handily, walked off. You know what I mean? Bander SN in the chat says, these aren't set images. They haven't started filming. I mean, why aren't they saying that then?

18:07Why is the article saying alongside what seems to be first look photos of the actors in costume? Why did they just fucking tweet it out? The first look photos of the actors in costume. I understand everyone wants to get mad at Greg for coming in and saying, yeah, guess what? This thing you all want to give a 10 out of 10 to already doesn't look that great. You know what I mean? But I'm the one saying it. God, he's so somebody has to be here to red team. Somebody has to be here to, you know, bring you all down and let you know what's going on. Now, oh, they're test shoots. They're this to that well we were just talking about this all right yeah we were just talking about is this a fucking costume shoot is it real or is it just a fucking thing nobody knows oh no the only man who could possibly answer is rahul coley rahul started music on my glasses i gotta turn that off uh anyways i hope they give him blonde hair they have to give him blonde hair or you know whatever dirty blonde like tim yeah he can't just be a brunette out there a little bit longer hair as well you would hope again but apparently according to everybody these are shots of them walking to school this is not actually this is this actually isn't this is tmz photos all right the chat over here fucking doing matrix backflips sticking away from this being the first look that doesn't matter that he clearly looks like he's gonna link outfit and she looks like she's in his eld outfit this was they were out strawberry picking this weekend with miyamoto yeah they were they were going back to their cabins at summer camp and the paparazzi got We don't think these are just photo, like, screenshots from other projects that they're in.

19:28I'm just telling you, you know what I mean? They're in similar forests with similar depths of field. Miyamoto revealed Bo Benjamin alongside what seems to be the first look photos of the actors in costume. Variety said that. Variety said seem like. They don't know. They don't fucking know shit. They don't know video games. That seems like a crazy thing to say. They know movies. like I would leave it to myself somebody who you shouldn't trust uh in the media who just says stuff uh you know because I saw a tweet five days ago yeah that I barely remember half of it I you leave that to me variety let me be the one going it seems like it's a set photo variety I need you to be more official than that I and I don't want to throw stones but I am on Elise Schaefer's variety bio here and here's the problem Northwestern University with a BA in journalism not Northeastern Mizzou she went to the second place McGill is that true they're really good at journalism oh that's good dying field yeah no it's not going well you know a lot of people are saying well not a lot of people just one really loud person saying don't trust the media a bunch of these other idiots are like we shouldn't yeah yeah yeah here we go who cares about the MC list you know what I mean hold on we can get in I'm over here on you know it's a weird thing these days right right now I'm on it is a weird thing She's on Elyse Schaefer's Instagram.

20:49I'm going to send her a message. You don't need to. We got to get to the bottom of this. Yeah, that's true. No pointy ears as well. Yeah, no pointy ears. Hello, Elyse. If you look at my thumbnail, that's the most accurate thing you'll get. I already CG'd it, so I think it works. Well, her hair is covering her ears, so we don't know. Oh, shit. That's true. Think about it. But it's really hard to cover your ears. His ears are kind of like, they're not long pointy, but they come up in a way that are kind of pointy. If I existed in the 17th century and I was a doctor that was helping birth this boy, I would look at his ears and go, oh, my God, I think it might be an elf.

21:34I think he may be halfway there. What's the message, Shane? I'm giving it. Okay. Chat, what do you think? let us know in the super chats I like that they're no names or you know like very unknown people early on in their careers I hope whichever direction this movie goes if it's really good or really bad I hope this doesn't define their careers since they're so early on and like the kid that they have is Link he looks like a kid that like I could see him acting his butt off but not having to have a lot of dialogue to carry a movie yeah that's what i want i just like like say things every once in a while i don't mind that all right but i see this kid like not being super talkative it's why i want again i keep on going back to the ghibli thing and everybody else does that it's not like this is a unique take at all but i just those movies are so so you know they let the shots breathe they let the scenes just exist without having to always cram you know uh exposition down your throat or whatever and that's and like i think that vibe just fits so perfectly with the zelda universe sure and i just i want i legitimately want like a maybe a 10 minute sequence of link ruffling through his back trying to see you know got my deodorant got myself sure yeah You know, get an Anipona, maybe ride it somewhere.

23:04You know, maybe like I just need like these shot this movie to just exist. But it will it won't be that because we're going to hear, you know, goddamn Ariana Grande and stuff. Soundtrack. They're going to be throwing all sorts of stuff in this movie, Greg. You think so? They're going to go the same route as as Mario. Oh, no way. No way. No way. No way. If it was like an animated tongue in cheek thing. No, no. If this was Illumination doing a Zelda movie, yes, I could see that. But that's not the case here. We could get what you want or we could get this. Well, excuse me, princess. I see a little, you know, imagine a bunch of Gorons starting a little party.

23:51And party rocking in the house tonight. I could see that being an Illumination movie. Damn. sure fuck illumination man could have been a really awesome movie okay remember like the alternate version of the donkey kong scene where it was like the actual donkey kong country music god as you all know i'm greg miller degree in journalism from the university of missouri uh this is what i've sent to elise m-i-s no m-i-z uh from variety hello elise on your zelda article we were wondering do you think these are quote first look photos of the actors in costume end quote or not. We're concerned about the looks here in terms of the video gameness.

24:34Thank you. Then a follow up. I'm Greg. Oh, good. Then I thought, you know what? Well, you know, at least has this thing that pops up. This can't receive your message because they don't allow new messages from everybody. So then I was like, you know what? I'll go to the actors. Do these kids, any of them follow me because I'm the hotness out there. You know, stuff, crust pizza today. Neither of them followed me, but I did send Benjamin one. I said, hey, Ben, these photos of you and Bo are actually the costumes or just to test so we'll find out i'm rahul's friend don't say i'm great we don't need to bring rahul okay okay that's where it gets like i you know what i mean yeah yeah yeah you know i know but i should say i should say comma i'm live on the internet right now i did see a a comment from the chat that kind of went by but they made a great point they said andy this is the guy who directed planet of the apes and that's the only thing that ever brings me back to the hope and the most recent one right yeah was that good fuck it was so good and it had no reason to be we didn't need a fourth planet of the apes movie and they did it and it's still fucking rocked man yeah oh so good anyways back to all this uh not much to go on here i'll tell you right now if you think they're going to use licensed sounds and you're joking right like you know that's not what this movie's going to be okay but you cast two humans there you put them in the woods here what could be a costume test what could be a sleepover nobody knows you're not going to then go you know what now we're going to put in maroon five you're going to have instrumental orchestral you're going to have the ocarina i well here's what i would like what i need the most is for shigeru Miyamoto to say hey for whatever the tone was for you know if if Mario was our despicable me sure we want this to be our lord of the rings I would fucking I would kill you you know what I mean like I'd be so excited I would murder you like that is don't think you need to go to that level but I understand the excitement for sure I would just be I would need that reassurance right because otherwise, you know, it's not to say that I didn't love the Mario movie.

26:50I just watched the Mario movie and I thought to myself, man, if, you know, this needed the Lego movie treatment. This needed that sort of tone and humor. And it said they were, it was always the, there were a lot of low hanging fruits and they were picking them all day, you know? I just needed like a bit more there. Give me some more substance, some more meat on the bone. Andy did you know West Ball is also set to direct a Ruiner movie shut up wait like for the game no games are big now buddy whoa kill boss whoa that's awesome let's just talk about West Ball I don't know who he is he directed he also directed the Maze Runner movies which weren't great but no I can't help you on that one anyways uh i reserve i here i disagree with you where i think the mario movie was great i've only come to love the mario movie more over time now granted it's because i'm watching with a three-year-old who adores it right but even for me of like what were we going to get out of the mario movie we're not going to get a serious cinematic take nor does it need to be so i'm happy with what the mario movie was i definitely think zelda should not be that and i definitely don't think again whether this be leaked iPhone photography, you know what I mean?

28:12Or whether this be actual costume tests from target, I think putting them outside sets the stage already of what we're going to go for. And I'm, I'm with you. If I hope it is a, we're trying to rival Lord of the Rings. We're trying to take this that seriously. I don't think they'll take it that seriously. I don't think you're going to get a trilogy of really, really long movies that don't need to be that long. I think you're going to get one really good movie here. That's like, Hey, we're crushing it and we're doing it. We're making it real. I don't know if it needed that straight right that little shot you just took I don't know if you need that because there was just facts mizzou journalism degree that was just fact ah that's right okay number one in the school yeah so number one in the school number one in the world uh like okay I feel you about Mario however I think that that's I think you look at your little baby smiling and it makes you smile we don't have we don't all have three-year-olds right and i think ben still we do have what i like to call a 35 year old i don't know how old tim is but tim ate that shit up too okay but i i think tim also agrees that the movie could have been better not that i didn't enjoy the movie yeah still made me smile still made me giggle here and there but it could have been you know imagine if it were the i'm blanking on the most recent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated movie which was fucking awesome like the one where it was like stop motion he kind of likes Spider-Verse right again Spider-Verse style like you know the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie the Lego like those movies are still for kids while still having writing that doesn't feel like it's they're just going after the Minecraft audience like you know they it still had you know very funny jokes that were kind of for all ages where this one felt like, no, we are going for the...

29:57The minions is the word I keep on forgetting. Dispickle minions. You get a DM back? Not yet. Instead, I was getting this one over here from Dark Re says, the Zelda photos are from the Nintendo Today app and say nothing other than the names, photos, and that's the announcement. Damn, I keep on forgetting about the app. How can you forget? I need to get push notifications on the app. While you guys look at the app, I don't even have it I just have fucking Goombas walking It says enjoy your day I know like people are Thinking either like Breath of the Wild Or Ocarina I would really love Link to the Past And have it be a two parter Because then at the end of that first movie When Zelda gets zapped over to the Dark world or whatever That would be a fucking crazy ending Can you fucking imagine The cut to black As like boom as accredited

30:53Link of the Past fucking tracks. God damn, that game rocks, man. Maybe it's really high on my top 100. You'll never know. I hope it's Ocarina. But I wouldn't hate it. I'm excited. I like Zelda. Well, then you would need an old Link. Unless these are the old ones. The baby. The young Link and young Zelda. But even old, I think. You would need a taller. I don't even know how tall this kid is. But you would need an aged. How old is he? Did we even say how old he is? He's 16 or 17 or something. Okay. Apparently six, seven, six, seven. Wow. I would need an eight foot four link.

34:07Yeah, yeah, yeah. Shit. Logan planted IGN.com, who's joining us momentarily, gave it a 10 out of 10 and wrote, the leader of the bunch is finally back to kick some tail in Donkey Kong Bonanza, a brilliant successor to Super Mario Odyssey and a smashing return for a classic Nintendo character. DK's satisfying expressive movement and powerful dynamic abilities create a truly groundbreaking adventure. The ambitious, destructible layers of this underground world are densely packed with satisfying collectibles, abundant charm and clever challenges that never seem to run out of smart ideas even long after the credits have rolled bonanza is a constant crescendo across its 20-hour campaign and beyond beyond with puzzle platforming concepts that only grow richer as dk and pauline dive deeper towards the planet core every element comes together in complete harmony to create nintendo's first switch to masterpiece alex donaldson over at euro gamer gave it four out of five stars writing a brilliant core mechanic and clever design twists make Bonanza a delightfully sticky 3D platform adventure topped off with a sweet central character relationship and then Andy Robinson over at VGC gave it 4 out of 5 stars falling short of Odyssey's genius Donkey Kong Bonanza is still a top tier switch to platformer from the masters of the genre a heartfelt story and pleasing nods to DK's past make this ape's most memorable adventure in many years I would love it if this Mario son of a bitch just finally sat on the bench for a second and let old DK.

35:42I mean, that's what's happening. Let me take the reins, big dog. That's what's happening right now. You are seeing the resurgence and the revitalization of King Kong over here, Donkey Kong. Super exciting. I can't fucking wait. Since they showed this initially, I was like, oh, fuck. And then, of course, everything we've heard since then as a Super Mario Odyssey super fan, I'm so stoked to get this and get into it. let alone the fact that this is the one during the switch to reveal when Ben was at home with Jen watching our reactions. He went freak his way for, and has asked me about almost weekly, if not every other day, when it's done.

36:14Didn't he cry in the car? He did. Yeah. I picked him up from school one day and he was, she, he was like, is donkey Kong out? And she's like, no, it's not. And he bursted to tears. Yeah. So very valid. We have Poe and Jack coming to visit today. So that's going to be big. You know, Jack's basically his big brother. So he's already super stoked about that. I might try to hold off and not tell him this is out till Sunday. That way we get the full weekend in with the boys before he has to just sit there. He doesn't watch the show? No, no. Sadly, they won't show it at preschool. Damn. Unfortunate.

36:41Yeah, yeah. I mean, I'm super stoked for this. I, you know, I wasn't feeling super high on it based on what Tim was telling us. Like, Tim has been... I mean, it's just Tim's review. You know, I don't know Tim's in-depth thoughts at all on this. But yeah, previews, he was like, after what, it was 15 or 20 minutes of it in Nintendo. It's like, I don't know. And real quick, Mellowfellow says, Sonic will never be a 90-plus Metacritic because there's a stigma slash bias against him. And I don't want to know if that was a joke or a real message in the comments. I just wanted to read it before it went away.

37:10Just wanted that out there in the ether so everybody knows. I like that. Just wanted that out there. Do with it what you will, everybody. Yeah, based on, you know, Tim just kind of pulling us aside and telling us some stuff about the game, I was kind of worried about it. Or was I? I'm just hoping people stick around for the review. you know what I mean yeah again we'll see what's up with it I'm you're getting an entire games cast about it so no use for us beating a dead horse can't wait for it I guess for you Andy like what where does this fall I know you're on other reviews I'm on another review but I think I'm going to put my other stuff aside when I get my hands on this and kind of just play as much as I can I'm excited to hop into this it's you know I think based on these 10 out of 10 you know even from IGN saying 10 out of 10 masterpiece and kind of wow this is the first masterpiece on switch 2 that is that's wildly exciting because i look at this game and i to me it looks like a lot of fun don't get me wrong but i just i fail to see and a lot of it is like needing to play it but i'm i fail to see where this sort of like masterpiece moment would happen but if it's doing stuff aside from what we're seeing in the trailers like i know that i'm gonna have a freaking blast with it i want to hop in again i'm playing a lot of other stuff and even the stuff that i'm playing i would also you know i have a couple of other games that i you know i want to get back to rematch and stuff like that so there's always a lot of things to play but i i'm excited for it i think it looks great and i it gives me a reason to use my switch too which has been kind of just sitting there for a while looking forward to it can't wait like i said the review is coming up next right now today gamescast blessing hosting logan plant joining tim to talk all about it so you're shutting everything off and going full in no there's another game i'm reviewing are you yeah i put oh i want to review it's on the calendar for not next week but the week after okay maybe i'll give a gander i don't think it's well it is your cut you know what no but anyways i think i'm gonna play them in neither of them feel like they i'm with you of like am i gonna play this and be so sucked in that every waking moment is can I get another banana can I get another banana or is it going to be I want to do an hour a couple hours of this and do that and then you know and then switch off to the other game and come back and forth and whatever I don't know I'm very open I'm very open my heart is open to this game I want the HD rumble open up your heart my art is my art is open for the art of the art number three Sony Santa Monica's next game is reportedly quote not a new IP end quote but quote it might feel like one end quote this is Ed Nightingale at Eurogamer sony santa monica the studio behind the god of war series is working on a new game but reportedly it won't be a new ip though quote it might feel like one end quote there's been plenty of speculation around what the studio may be working on next in particular game director cory barlog he was responsible for the god of war reboot in 2018 but on its sequel he was a producer now bloomberg journalist jason schreier has addressed the speculation on recent era calling Barlog's game, quote, Sony Santa Monica's next big thing, end quote, and that, quote, it was going well, end quote, at least a couple of months ago.

40:18In a later response, Schreier added, it won't be a new IP, and it certainly won't be a sci-fi game. Quote, I'll put it this way. It's not a new IP, but it might feel like one, end quote, Schreier said. Quote, maybe that's why people are confused. People don't ask me more questions about this. If I wind up reporting more information at any point in the future, it'll be an article not on a forum and that sci-fi stuff parentheses that people have apparently believed for years now question mark is nonsense end quote andy so not connectica too it could be connectica but this is kind of sci-fi not if you put rocks in it fuck you're right damn damn uh i mean even on this even the stuff that he's refuting i'm like well i don't know whether to believe that or not like of course you would lie about whatever possible jason schreier known liar yeah well no i'm talking about barlog the oh cory barlock dirtbag yeah yeah dirtbag yeah absolutely um i just don't really i mean what do we know about in a library or in a past ip that could possibly be rebooted in some way i mean the easy money is on what sclsu dogs h2o atreus game confirmed maybe it's just we're going to get into trey's game yeah and it's obviously would play far different than how kratos plays maybe it's going to feel new are we doing a time jump with kratos where he's older yes i'm going back to andy cortez i'm so sorry uh my mistake i i had i had separated these quotes out as the first part was shrier and then the second part was barlog no this is all shrier all shrier all shrier so not a sci-fi okay guy i thought it was barlog saying i don't know why people have been been believing this uh sci-fi thing for years or whatever so i was like i take that with a grain of salt he still just could be lying about that because he has to for embargo's sake sure sure sure sure um okay well shoot man that really kind of fucks me up you know because right now bless is not going to get any points for this unannounced greek god of war uh or tim and even then is that like something like where it was there smoke on that of like is that related to this because again if it was a greek god of war thing but i know which i know we've already done but is that way there's so many we don't know anything we're just speculating do we know right now i'll i need uh bear to do some googling i don't have a laptop you're you're hosting you're out here you're cooking um there's the sous chef he's over there could this possibly be a little hey did you hold on real quick bear did you think benihana too because that's what i said when i said it and then you just kind of didn't like the benihana yeah god i love benihana um could this possibly be something that is getting you know if we are talking god of war and we know that at one point amazon had a god of war tv show i know that that's been kind of pulled back i or was it the horizon movie i feel like a lot of these maybe sony ip got yeah confirmed things and then maybe nothing ever materialized do you want to know i'll toss it out there i think we're all off base here of course we're looking at sony Santa Monica's IP.

43:25I'm going to toss out and say Uncharted. I'm going to say Naughty Dog is on to other things and they want to go and PlayStation wants more Uncharted and they don't want it to feel like Uncharted that's come before. So go to a seasoned storyteller who knows how to do third person behind the back action games. Corey Barlog. Have him take a shot at Uncharted. Shake it all up. It's got nothing to do with Drake. Nothing to do with his family. Nothing. I just if I'm you know, if my mind is his mind. Corey Barlog's? Yeah. I say, I don't want that. That's not my shit. And I don't know, like, I don't know if that feels like you're stepping on toes or you're messing with other people's babies.

44:08I know this, you know, you mentioning that this wouldn't be, if this is indeed a video game that's set to be coming out, that it wouldn't have anything to do with Nathan Drake. It would be a totally side. I still don't know if Barlog would want that. I don't know. Fascinating. Similar vein, Jack and Dexter.

44:53for whatever's next. Visit your nearest croc store today.

45:01Does the world need another Jack and Daxter? The world needs another Uncharted. Janet bust through the wall. Kool-Aid man. Or, hear me out. Parappa the Rapper. I think that's what's interesting is I just think we shouldn't limit it to Sony Santa Monica IP. I think PlayStation's got enough stuff sitting around. Because the only sony santa monica uh ip is god of war and kinetica so yeah very limited options there damn yeah this is it this is exciting to speculate about and i just genuinely hope that whenever anything of this gets revealed that we don't go ah it's that ip yeah oh man i don't know if we want i don't want parappa the rapper i don't want gabe logan you know i don't want to be gabe I don't want to be a classic line there.

45:49Yeah. I'm okay with Gabe Logan staying on the bench for a little bit. He's been a little bit for a while. A long time. He's been there for a long time. We'll have to wait and see, I guess. But I think all options are on the table. Would an Atreus game do anything for you? Would you be excited for that? I would be excited for anything in that universe, especially Barlog, you know, being at the helm of it. I, I just trust that vision. I trust that the story and gameplay would be as top tier as possible. Would any other character do something for you where you're like, oh, yeah, I would love to be Angra Boda or something like that?

46:32Or what was Thor's daughter? Thor's daughter? Oh, Thor's daughter was cool. I forget her name. Because I know Blessing always brings up Thor's daughter as that possibly being something that could become its own sort of spinoff. Yeah. Okay. That would get me going. for some reason atreus doesn't do it for me and i also don't think atreus fits this it's not a new ip but it might feel like one if i'm atreus it's gonna feel like god of war still yes and of course like the way we leave god of war ragnarok no real spoilers right but like clearly there's more adventures for them single uh on their own but then they're gonna cross back you know what i mean like stuff's going on there if his daughter could be really cool though that would be really cool and if it's atreus the the whole it's not a new ip but it may feel like one yeah kind of goes perfectly with not naming a god of war yeah i think it would be called something but i think that's such a bonehead move too where you don't want to get away from god of war if you're playstation you don't want to lose that branding atreus like son of god of war you know some bullshit like that i i've seen a couple mischief free chats in there but we do have a super chat here from Riley 21 who says infamous maybe no I love infamous I will be honest with all of you you need to understand infamous time in the sun is gone PlayStation is working with Marvel someone's gonna buy WB and make good DC games sometime like we don't need no we don't infamous just doesn't work that's not the PlayStation has seen the success of a Spider-Man video game it's much more likely that hey good job sucker punch you've wrapped up a Ghost of Yote and now we have a partnership with Marvel for X DC for X and we want you to go make that video game there's no money I the best we can hope for is that they do a infamous collection remaster whatever and again that wouldn't be Sony Santa Monica I don't think that wouldn't even I wouldn't even expect like a again I'm talking a remaster not a remake the sad thing for me is the for me it only feels like revisiting old games like that is if there are plans to come out with something new or adapted for television to get the audience excited again and if there are no plans for that then i don't ever see franchises like that coming back in a big meaningful way you might see him in a commercial somewhere i go oh my god that's my thing like pat upon pat upon before this bandai namco version of that had the one and two remaster but that was a different playstation so i'm not even going to use that as an example i think if your playstation right now in your herman hulse the thing you keep looking at is we bet on live service that blew up in our face and now we have this uh valley right of we're waiting till we get to those next big tentpole game those next mountains to climb the next you know big deals Ghost of Yote is one of them, but we lost this Last of Us game.

49:25So we're in the desert without Naughty Dog, right? Sony Ben, Hansel is in this camp, blah, blah, blah. We lost all of London Studio. I think at that point, you have to turn internally and go, and again, I'm saying best case scenario. So I'm not even saying this happening, but you turn in and you go, what are games that we could remaster easily, cheaply, not remake, just up-res the graphics, blah, blah, and put them out to make some money and have hardcore fans support them? I think you do that with infamous and that would not set the world on fire in any, by any stretch of imagination, but maybe fill it.

49:59Number one, fill a gap of, you don't have any game. Please. You don't have any games. Well, here's something fill a gap of, we're taking care of our fans. And then also possibly be a temperature check on, would y 'all want, would you all support a free, another superhero that's licensed free kind of thing? Like, should we, which I don't think they would, but I think that's why you do that. Cause you have to put out games. because you have to make money. Or you say, from the makers of the 26 million plus selling 10 out of 10s all across the board, Elden Ring, Bloodborne. Yeah. That's a thought.

50:36It's a crazy thought. This one makes my head explode as well, but I'll read it. Cozy Bear Live Super Chats. And again, we mentioned Happy Hour from yesterday. Of course, you could go support right now on Patreon 25. You could watch it. Shout out to Cozy Bear who showed up with his own version of Jeopardy yesterday. complete that you can click on it and go amazing work Cozy Bear fantastic work we need to have you do one just as a kind of funny podcast I think with us but I digress for this Cozy Bear goes crazy guess for what Barlog's next game might be a new Metal Gear he's not Kojima but he's the sort of auteur with vision you'd want for a new one I'd fucking lose my goddamn mind you think no I don't think so I don't think so we're just talking we're just having a fun time yeah okay yeah but I mean I'm well okay we're just talking then we're talking then i think you know would konami logistically be like oh yeah we want that or no we want to keep all the playstation like here's a big fat fucking check and here's how much you're gonna get on the back end of it yeah i think konami's like cool because what they're uh silent hill they got a bunch of silent hills going right f yeah what's the one isn't isn't uh that says has a screwed jade no no no sam barlow isn't he doing something like that with it isn't he doing he's got like 900 unannounced games i don't know barlow barlog ah no i'm probably wrong i'm probably confusing something the way that cory barlog is a storyteller i i don't see fitting into what people would want from metal gear honestly and then also just logistically like if you're already a very big director i don't know if you want to touch a franchise that is so closely tied with another huge director that so much of his artistic makeup is integrated into the dna of that franchise i don't know if you want to touch that with a 20-foot pole portland kevin talking about what about castle vanya i just like seeing people team up with crazy ass shit so i'd love to believe in that yeah you love watching Tobey Maguire walk to that portal you know come on but I mean this time developers doing cool shit you know what I mean

52:48oh here's where I'm confused okay what I need Sam so sorry Sam Barlow her story immortality etc etc and then two British Silent Hill games Silent Hill Origins and Silent Hill Shattered Memories and then I'm confusing where he was talking about how it didn't need to be remade on the gamer here. You can see where all my lines got crossed. All my wires are crossed. Sam Barlow, this is an interview with the gamer. Sam Barlow says Silent Hill doesn't need remaking. Oh, talks new spiritual successor. Now I'm getting caught up. Okay. What I need to know is, Corey Barlog, you were a producer on God of War Ragnarok.

53:25Where on God of War 2018, you were the chief. Everybody's going to you. Yeah. We saw you in the documentary. we saw you sleeping five hours over a span of 17 days or whatever like what you were going through it right you kind of stepped back and went to producer for ragnarok i need receipts i need to know what you were doing what what your day-to-day was like sure because obviously it's been what since 2022 that god of war ragnarok came out we were in this studio we're in the studio 2022 to so you know how much time were you even thinking about this new ip how much time has been on there like i just need cory barlock to come through here and you know how like a boss will reprimand you and be like what did you do last week you know yeah what was your nine to five looking like barlock i need to know what your nine to five was looking at a lot of unaccountable hours because if you were if you were still up to you know up to your head and shit dealing with Ragnarok sure then I'm like all right well whatever you're working on is still quite a ways away but if you had time to maybe pre-pro on new stuff while also on Ragnarok yeah then maybe this thing is further along than we thought fair enough I see Wiener says in the super chat now Andy wants to talk about unaccounted for hours everything about that I don't have any kind of for hours Mike just wants to be your friend no he doesn't because then he would have wanted to play Dune Awakening instead of trying like a baby Nick wants to play do an awakening number four on the roper report uh rog xbox ally price leaks seemingly just surfaced online this is phil hayton over games radar whoops looks like rog that's rog xbox ally price information just potentially leaked with the supposed manufacturing suggested retail price a little menacing spotted by spanish games publication uh 3d huegos uh huego the suspected Asus ROG Xbox Ally price actually fed straight through to a Google product box according to the fetched metadata the base Asus ROG Xbox Ally will come in at 599 euros whereas the top end ROG Ally X will come in far higher at 899 that translates to roughly$699 US and$1050 US respectively and just so happens to be how much you'll pay for the og asus rog ally and its ex-sibling in europe effectively it points toward the company using the same retail price structure for its xbox flavored portables as it does its own handheld gaming pcs that's so much more expensive than what i thought it'd be yeah that really bums me out greg what were you hoping they'd come in at uh you know maybe 800 max okay you know i know that tariffs change things i wish everybody went the route of always having the price i was like here's what it would have been with you here's what your price would be if you had you know or whatever here's what your price is with the tariffs or whatever um yeah that's i mean that's a that's a decent amount more expensive than i thought right and especially when we're talking about a piece of hardware that is still largely unproved with whatever this Xbox launcher is going to be sure and whenever we talk about any of these handhelds and people are are you know doing deep dives on the tech and and benchmarks and all sorts of speed tests it always seems like whenever you want the most performance out of your machine you put Steam OS on it and when you have windows you're going to get a little bit less battery life a little bit less here and there and that's the whole point of this thing though is dodging windows and and you're hoping that the raw horsepower of the machine can not only just you know cover up for those losses but also you know gain some in some other cases um i i'm hoping that this windows os is going to be as light as as efficient as possible we've seen windows make a lot of promises in the past based on different os's and things are going to be easier now with like i remember when we all when the ipad was really really coming up and i was working at Best Buy and it's like every tablet is going to have Windows and Windows is making a touch compatible Windows and we're like, whoa, how's that going to work?

57:45And it was a disaster. Nobody liked it or used it. And so Microsoft, very similar to Google in that it's always hard for them to commit to a vision. I think they've had a lot of success recently, but we've still seen a lot of complaints with recent Windows updates and things like that. Certainly a lot more expensive, but You hope that when this thing comes out, the raw horsepower of it all will be like, whoa, this is two and a half times better than what your Steam Deck's doing now. And so that's for me as a, I drank the Kool-Aid. I love my ROG LIX, right? And granted, it was sent to me for review by Republic of Gamers, ROG, ASUS, whatever, right?

58:25But to go to Best Buy right now and see the one I have here for$900, it's$900 already, right, for that version. So to look here and see that the latest greatest is at 1 ,050, like I'm the kind of guy of like, I hate spending money. I hate money. It keeps me up at night legitimately. But once we cross, there's like the levels of money where once you cross$500 for anything, the gap between 500 and 1 ,000, I'm just like, oh, whatever. It's all the fucking. I know what you mean. I'm fucked. I'm fucked any way it goes. So whatever. 500, 650, 750. This all fucking sucks. The gap between 500 and 1 ,000 and a zero and 500 is the same.

59:02I know. No, but 500 in general is where, like, I mean, once we get to, let's be honest, for Greg Miller, once you get to 100, I'm like, oh, I don't like this. That's like, no. I'm doing the Andre the Giant gif, you know what I mean? And then you keep going up. That's why console gaming and that 350, 500, 499, 499 still feels good. I'm like, okay, I can do whatever. Justify it to me or whatever. This is exactly how I used to feel on Sunday nights as a kid in school. As soon as that clock hits six, I'm like, oh, night's over. For me, it was, yeah, when Lois and Clark ended. on Sunday nights, like this sucks.

59:34You got Linda Ellerbee talking about Nick News or whatever. I was like, oh man, this is a Sunday's over. Even though I have three or four hours, but I know what you mean. Once you pass a certain threshold, it's like this all sucks anyway. So yeah, for anyways, my point being the difference between buying one right now for$8.99 versus$1 ,050. I just, I don't, I think people, I think people were thinking it was going to be Steam Deck prices. I think that was the problem is that we were hung up on what it was going to be like a Steam Deck thing. I'm, I'm in a sort of in-between period because I don't go to my Steam Deck and look at it and go, I'm expecting to play the latest and greatest here.

1:00:11I'm more realistic in that way. And plus, when I want to play the latest and greatest, I want it to look and feel and perform the best. So I'll just play on my PC. Sure. With the Steam Deck currently, I'm in a, you know, we're two and a half, almost three years into having my Steam Deck. and it's like do i want to commit to the vision of having nvidia geforce now when i want to play those really really high powered games that are going to look super noisy and messy and are going to run at 26 frames per second on my steam deck yeah yeah natively and if yeah natively and with the steam with nvidia geforce now having that cloud technology that you know you worry about wi-fi connectivity and stuff in our house baron and i have talked a bunch about that already but But do I want to commit to that, to using GeForce now as the high power thing?

1:01:03Or if you showed me how things perform and look on and look natively on these higher powered ROG machines, is that enough to make me go, oh, shit, it runs at like 55 and it looks that way compared to what I've got right now. Damn, maybe this is enough for me to make the jump. Again, speaking as somebody who I don't have a significant other living with me, I don't have a kid, I have a car payment. I know a lot of people look at us and be like, man, they spend on delivery all the time. I have far less expenses than you probably do at home. Sure, sure, sure. You as a responsible adult. And you get delivery for two.

1:01:37You get delivery for yourself and Lulu. And Lulu. Oh, yeah. I give Lulu a little piece of chicken. That's cute. Little baby. Little baby. He loves you so much. The only time she cares about me. So, yeah, I'm sort of in that weird zone where it's like I'm the type of person. I'm the target audience for this. somebody who has this disposable income that wouldn't mind spending that upgrade to get the higher power thing but it's more of a is it worth it for me i need to see these games performing and looking a certain way unlike when i would try to play expedition 33 and i you know even trying to get the most perfect settings with it it looks noisy and it doesn't run as well and you need and again it's not just that like i love higher frame rate because it looks better it's it's response time it's feeling those parries that would have landed if you were running at 160 frames as opposed to 30 something where you have less time to hit that you know you hit the button but it's not you know uh triggering into a certain spot you getting more dms about a no no no benjamin hasn't responded rahul gave me some song on song and dance on why he couldn't answer the phone you know what i mean you hate to see it and yeah the variety reporter will never get those messages so yeah we won't have any information then uh yeah i don't know i'm so into the life we lead last you know again like my rog is my pc like to the point now i'm plugging into the tv at home and doing stuff on it and for sure there's games we review that they're always like oh we prefer then it's not optimized yet and i do end up going to a pc tower to get an actual experience out of it but i love it so much that i'm excited to see what this xbox one is going to be how powerful to be x y and z what i always come down is again as scared of money as i am if tomorrow rog hit me up and we're like hey we need the ally x back it would be i if there wasn't an xbox one coming an instant purchase or i would go drop the 900 immediately or wait to see what this thing is and then drop it on that hopefully you know what i mean hope hoping that this is as good as experience as it seems like it should be no more monster trucks ben exactly sorry ben we can't get you a goddamn monster truck every time we go to target number five on the rope report the last of us season three planned for 2027 and could be the series and the hbo boss says this is tom phillips at ign last of a season three is definitely planned to arrive in 2027 hbo boss casey bloys has confirmed pinning down a launch window for the series next and potentially last run of episodes amid a mixed response to the last of us's recent second season and the subsequent departure of franchise creator neil druckman blois said he was confident in showrunner craig mason's ability to continue on and do so successfully despite the series lead actors changing exactly how long the series will continue remains unclear uh blois uh continues uh continued saying uh there was a possibility last of us could wrap in 2027 as well quote the series is definitely planned for 2027 uh he said uh dodging the specific question on whether the show would return for 2026 2027 TV season or later.

1:04:36Quote, Craig Mazin is still working it out, whether it will be two more seasons or one more long season, he continued. It hasn't been decided yet, and I'm following Craig's lead on that, end quote. That's really good news. I think I, the immediate thing I worry about is do they ever try to Walking Dead, this sort of thing? Do they ever try to spin off and do all sorts of other properties? But when we were getting teases that that season three could be split into two and you know we're thinking about a fourth probably that was already kind of worrying to me because it's like oh how much meat is on that bone unless you all got a lot of meat on the bone that i'm not aware of and you have these other side stories and i always go back to the episode episode three of season one with um ron swanson yeah like the yeah yeah bill i'm blanking on the character's name so unless you got me on the bone like that then of course I don't think people would ever complain when you can explore these side stories that weren't necessarily explored and it's like oh we could fill out a whole hour of this and it's going to be one of the best things you'll ever watch period amazing but you know stretching out into an extra season just felt like whoa that's that seems like you're a bit too far-fetched So I think this is positive news.

1:05:57And I think anybody who watched season two would go, yeah, that makes sense that we're going to get that final section just has one extra season. Hey, Chicago, class it up with Crocs. You know, back to school is coming in fast. So why wait to find your new fave footwear? Step into a local Crocs store and step into your new look. Try it. Style it. Make it yours. Because the right pair doesn't just show up. It shows off. First day fits handled. Walk out ready for whatever's next. Visit your nearest Croc store today. Yeah, I'll be interested to see if they can do it in one, if they break it apart.

1:06:38It's also more of this Neil not being there, I think is concerning to some degree as the person who's been in charge of it. I like the idea of him being able to focus on video games or whatever, but I don't think it going, there must be in the license agreement between HBO and PlayStation the fact that like PlayStation can't, they have to sign off on, are we going to do like a, you know, fear of the walking dead kind of thing, a spinoff or whatever. And I hope they won't, I think do as far as the games have gone. And then if one day you need to, you get the show remastered in a couple of years.

1:07:09Yeah. New visuals. Exactly. How far away from you, are they just Harry Potter it, where they just redo the whole thing again? The image of that kid playing Harry Potter reminded me so much of Rachel Dratch in SNL. That's the first thing. It's the first thing I thought of. That's me. That's the first thing I thought of. Andy, all of this is big, huge, enormous news. Huge. But if I wanted smaller news, say the tiniest news I needed to know about, where would I go? You'd go to our last story, the Wii News channel, where we cover all the small news items you need to know about.

Should we put you both on a stream together playing it? Yeah. When Ben showed us this trailer with Alana and everybody else, they're like, ah man, can't wait to hear about it. From GameSpot, Bethesda Game Studios has teased plan to add more Fallout 76 content based on the Prime Video TV series. Creative director John Rush said in an interview with Variety that the game studio and TV teams are in discussion, quote unquote, all the time.

1:08:58But it's still too soon to say what the specific content may look like. That's exciting. I hope it's not just costumes. I'd like a quest or something like that. 1:09:38And then your final piece of WeNews, Ubisoft names Yves Gilmour's son as the new co-CEO of a Tencent-backed subsidiary. He works hard. This is Andy Robinson at VGC. Ubisoft has named the co-CEOs of its new Tencent-backed subsidiary, including the current Ubisoft CEO, Yves Gilmour's son, Charlie Gilmour. Speaking to Variety, the new leadership team was asked to address concerns of nepotism regarding Charlie's appointment as a co-CEO. Charlie Gilmour responded, quote, I'd like to address this question directly. if I may. I completely understand where it comes from, and I want to be clear about it.

1:10:11Yes, I'm you, son. That's not something I hide from. But my appointment isn't only about my family ties. It's about what Ubisoft needs at the moment. I would love to have you. He was like, look, I barely know the kid. Listen, I've been busy. I haven't been a great father. I've been busy running Ubisoft into the ground for a long time. I do not know my children well. I do not know what's going on. What's part of his resume? A Web3 gaming startup. Aw, nice, dude. He gets it, man. He gets it. Good luck to you, everybody. Remember those Bored Apes NFTs? I don't want to remember the Bored Apes. Also, Greg, you're wondering when Drag Drive comes out.

1:13:29If Corey Barlog came out and said my next game from Sony Santa Monica is Ghostbusters, I would be embarrassed. Second-handedly. I just can't. I'm sure it'd be great probably, but that's not what we should be using Corey for. I can't take you serious, Corey. Corey, you gotta be stopped. That is when he has too much power.
