In short

Kind of Funny Games Daily discusses data showing PlayStation first-party game sales declining for five straight years (with a small 2025 uptick), and connects it to fewer releases, longer development times, canceled live-service projects, and changing consumer habits. They also cover early Summer Game Fest announcements: a new open-world racing game called Clutch, and a Super Lucky’s Tale kart racer appearing on Steam DB.

Guests

Blessing (host) and Snowback Mike (co-host). No other guests are interviewed in this transcript.

Guest backgrounds

Blessing is positioned as the PlayStation-focused host; Snowback Mike is a PC-focused co-host. (No further professional bios are provided.)

Key claims

2020 had a strong PlayStation first-party output (e.g., The Last of Us Part II, Ghost of Tsushima, Astro Playroom, Demons Souls, Spider-Man: Miles Morales). After that, output thinned and major studios (Naughty Dog, Haven Studios, Media Molecule) have fewer/no releases in the PS5 generation. Revenue remains strong via subscriptions and third-party cuts despite weaker first-party sales.

Notable examples

Ghost of Tsushima, Astro Bot, Concord, Helldivers 2, Death Stranding 2, Marvel’s Wolverine; canceled live-service efforts like “Last of Us Online” and Concord-related projects. Clutch: story of sibling racing prodigies in the R1K series; Super Lucky’s Tale kart racer rumored for Summer Game Fest 2026.

0:13Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Today's gaming news stories include PlayStation first party game sales declined for five straight years, some summer game fest announcements arrive early, and Crimson Desert's biggest update yet. We'll have all this and more because this is Kind of Funny Games Daily.

0:34Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Yo, what's up? Welcome to Kind of Funny Games Daily for Tuesday, June 2nd, 2026. I'm your host, Blessing, Addy A.J. Jr. Joining me is the master of hype, Snowback Mike. Bless, good morning. Thanks for having me on today. A big day. Yeah. Big Tuesday for you and I. We are on all day long. We got a Kind of Funny podcast into a gameplay stream, but building up to the big one. Yes. PlayStation State of Play today, Blessing. That's a really good thing to call out, of course. Yes. Right now, if you're watching live, Kind of Funny Games Daily is happening right here at 10 a.m. as usual. After that, we got Kind of Funny Podcast, not the Gamescast because it's a special day today.

1:07Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Right after that, like you mentioned, Mike, is the gameplay stream. Y 'all are playing some Sonatica 2. And then it is our PlayStation State of Play live reactions, which is then going to lead into our Gamescast impressions of that. So, yeah, huge day. What's the hype level at? I know we talk about, you know, tempering expectations, but where are we at right now? Give me your first. What is your expectation? 60 minutes of playstation they're at the alamo draft house wolverine we don't know what else what's your expectation yeah then what's your hype level hearing um it's the same as every summer playstation state of play i think they've started to hit these consistently i used to be a hater of state of plays earlier on like in the early in the early 2020s i feel like state of plays were consistently not that great i think in the last few years we started to hit a stride I think post the PlayStation showcase where it was fair game and marathon.

1:59Blessing Adeoye Jr.:And I think there was like one other games in the service game there. That one was kind of whack, right? After that, I feel like they're like, fuck it. Let's not even call it a showcase anymore. We're doing state of plays and we're making these solid. And I'm expecting this state of play to be just as good as last year's June state of play. Assuming that one was good. I actually don't remember what was there. Mike, what about you? How excited are you? Yeah. My excitement level is through the roof for the week. Of course, I get excited just like you for Summer Game Fest E3 week of old. Right. Like, so I am pumped up that we get multiple presentations.

2:33That's going to show a bunch of new games coming our way. So I'm through the roof.

2:37Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Is it ever bum you out that we never got proper E3, me and you? Oh, yeah. We never got to cover proper E3. Go there. See the show floor. See you like random rappers. The old guard and all their complaints of, oh, E3 needed to die. I didn't want to do E3 anymore. We were working so hard back then. It's like we wanted to go to E3. We had to stay up late night and drink. I want my friends to come to L.A. and celebrate a full weekend of gaming. That's my dream. They were abusing us. It's like, well, y 'all got to go to E3. Guys, guys, guys. What's up? As someone who experienced it a couple of times, it was fucking awesome.

3:09Blessing Adeoye Jr.:That's what I'm saying. It was awesome. God, I miss it every year. It was worth the mistreatment. Absolutely. Mistreatment or working hard. You know what I mean? No one forced us to stay. Then on the flip side, expectations, right? When I think of PlayStation, I think of Wolverine, of course, the heretic prophecy. Like, there's a lot going on of like, hey, I'm excited to see what Sony has next, especially after this new story. We're going to get it at the top of the show. I expect big things then from Sony of like, hey, we have now righted the ship away from live service games. We're getting back to the bangers that you want.

3:43We know it takes long for Neil Druckmann and his team to make a game and all of our other first party studios that make you the high class blockbuster games that you want. Let's show those. Let's get you excited again, especially for the end of the generation and into the new generation. Right. I put air quotes on that. I'm like, because we don't know how long this generation is going to go out here with prices and, you know, chip shortages. But let's let's see what they got. My expectations are a little bit higher than normal for PlayStation. I would put them more at like an 8, an 8.5 of like, I'm expecting them to show me something.

4:16Okay. I hope they meet that for you.

4:17Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Yeah. Yeah. I agree with everything you just said. Remember, if you're watching live, you can be a part of the show by Super Chatting in over on YouTube.com slash kindoffunnygames. Let us know what are your level of expectations. Super Chatting, let us know what are your predictions for today's state of play. You can probably do that throughout the day, honestly, since we're going to be live all day leading up to that. And I'm sure at any moment, we're ready to talk about what are we going to see today. Your super chats, leave them with your expectations, your hopes, your dreams. We're happy to talk about them all throughout the day.

4:43Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Yeah. We couldn't do this without our producers over on Patreon.com slash kind of funny. So thank you to Carl Jacobs, Omega Buster, Delaney, the Psalm Twining, and Lax Nomad. For now, let's begin with what is and forever will be the Roper Report. It's time for some news. We have six stories today. That was like a remix version of that. Good job, Kevin. Mix, mix, mix, mix, mix, mix. story number one playstation first party game sales declined for five straight years this is andy robinson at video games chronicle sony's first party game sales have declined for five straight years until a small uptick in 2025 helped by ghost of yote that's according to data collated by game file which suggests that playstation sold less than half the number of first party games in 2024 when it released astrobot and concord compared to 2020 when it released the last part 2 and ghost of tsushima as well as ps5 the decline can be seen in sony's annual financial results which have reported first-party game sales titles that published or developed itself since 2020 the figures highlighted uh the figures highlight what a prolific year 2020 was for playstation with marvel spider-man miles morales demon souls and other titles also arriving that year but also the slowdown of releases from its biggest studios since ps5's launch notably naughty dog still hasn't released a game this console generation nor has haven studios which you know yeah that was a wild studio neither of them released the game so where are you supposed to get profit of haven studios uh which sony opened in 2022 both studios announced games intergalactic the heretic profit and fair games don't have release dates announced similarly dreams and little big planet studio media molecule hasn't released a game since 2020 while sie's acquisition of studios so far hasn't resulted in an increase in hits with the platform holder canceling multiple live service projects and closing studios like Bluepoint.

6:40Blessing Adeoye Jr.:The figures also highlight the industry-wide issue that blockbuster games are taking longer to make and require huge investment. Consumer habits have also changed in the last six years with the pandemic years boosting sales due to stay-at-home restrictions. Regardless of first-party game sales momentum, PlayStation has enjoyed a record-breaking console generation in terms of revenue with PS5 console sales not far behind its predecessor, despite a much higher price point. Most of PlayStation's revenue comes from subscriptions and a cut of third-party game purchases. Mike, I want to give a shout-out and a recommendation to the one and only Jason Schreier, who started a YouTube channel not too long ago.

7:20Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Yesterday, he uploaded a video about why games take so long to make now. And y 'all should watch that video, because Jason Schreier, one of the most informed people on this side of the industry, on the media side of the industry, one of the best journalists in the game when it comes to video games. And he talks a lot about, I think, stuff that we've talked about a lot because we're talking about this stuff every single day. And so we kind of get into the weeds, I think, further than a lot of people. But I think Jason takes the stuff that he knows, the stuff that he's heard, and puts it into one video and delivers it in a way that is so like, damn that is informative he really knocks out of the park i'm really excited for jason schreier's youtuber era i would really encourage you to go check it out as well blesses right so why why video games cost so much to make so much that was four days ago go check that one out uh 22 day 22 hours ago why games now take six plus years to make very informative stuff if you want to look back behind the curtain you want someone to guide you and educate you who has years upon years of industry knowledge this is the guy for sure and like a lot of his answer boils down to bullet points right of course things like the pandemic you know i know where it feels like we're past it right but when you think about the impact that the pandemic had on video game development huge impact we talk about things like scope jason goes into that right of like games are uh games look way better than they did back in the day he gives an example of there was a dev that he was talking to that was describing a scene in like one of the classic final fantasies and like this climactic scene that is was probably made by less than five people jason is like yo if you want to do that today think about the amount of levels of the amount of people involved the amount of budget to make just one immaculate cut scene right one immaculate climactic sequence of the game that was one of the bullet points he talks about but he goes into it he gets into all the different things um i bring that up because that kind of conversation very relevant to what I think we're talking about here with PlayStation first party game sales declining.

9:24Of course, Blessing, when you talk about blockbuster hit titles, right? We do turn towards PlayStation and the amount of time it takes, the money it costs. Now you're seeing it as well, right? When we talk about revenue and finances, right? When Naughty Dog, one of your hit makers, when it comes to the third person narrative driven action adventure blockbuster titles, right? Hasn't released a game in the entire console lifespan of the PlayStation 5. Yeah. Yeah. The sales are going to look a little bit off here, Bless. And so I'm really interested to have this conversation with you because you are our PlayStation guy.

9:57You're our games guy. I'm a PC guy nowadays. My most played time right now

10:02Blessing Adeoye Jr.:is on PC. Isn't it amazing? Yeah. I love my Steam Deck, man. But for real, Bless, you, of course, were in the know with PlayStation with PSIWXOXO. When you look at this, right, five years straight, where are we at with the sales decline? What do you think about that? Um, I'm of two minds. Firstly, duh. Like, you look at this console generation and the game's output, and if you're telling me the games have sold less year by year, I'd be like, yeah, because the games have gotten thinned year by year. When we're starting at 2020, the article gets into it, but 2020 was an immaculate year of game releases for PlayStation.

10:38Can I hit you with a couple? Yeah. I looked back on it. You have Last of Us Part II, June 19th, 2020. Yep. Ghost of Tsushima, July 2020. Astro Playroom, November 2020. Now you get to the launch of PS5. Demon's Souls 2020, Sackboy's Big Adventure, Marvel's Spider-Man, Miles Morales. Those are all 2020 titles right there.

10:58Blessing Adeoye Jr.:And so, like, yeah, 2020, of course, you're going to see decline after that. But then you go further, right, and you get into 2021, which it's hard for me to spit all the stuff off the top of my head. But I believe 2021 is when we're getting games like Returnal. I believe we're getting Ratchet and Clank. Was there another big PlayStation game? You'll have Ghost of Legends, Ghost of Tsushima Legends, and Destruction All-Stars. Tsushima Legends was 2019, or 2020, excuse me. Oh, okay. I have September 2021, but maybe you're right on that. That might have been like an update or something. Yeah. You're right.

11:28Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Destruction All-Stars was also 2021. Destruction All-Stars, don't forget. Ooh. People are saying technically Final Fantasy VII. That's not being included in these numbers. We're talking about PlayStation First Party. But that was also 2020. You get into 2022, right? And I think you also get some big games there. Remind me. I should I'm trying to look this up as I'm talking right now but like you know charted collection forbid our horizon comes out like a few years ago as well Gran Turismo last of us part one uh god of war Ragnarok horizon call of the mountain marvel spider-man 2 helldivers concord astrobot lego horizon death stranding and ghosts of yote yeah how to take us through that bless and I yeah I think for me where I start off is like yeah I think games game sales are going to first party games sales for playstation going to decline because i just think things just haven't lined up in that way we're talking about video game development which has become a bigger and bigger and bigger ship to steer when it comes to all right what are all of our studios doing how do we line that up in a way that makes sense for us i think when video games take two to three years to develop that's a way easier thing when games take five plus years to develop and you're canceling these games because you had this whole live service push that you're going for and it turns out oh man no we don't want last of us online no we don't want um the blue point god of war live service game oh we're gonna cancel concord two weeks after this thing comes out that takes a big bite out of output from you right we're then sitting here like wow we could have had a blue point original game or a remake or something we could have had maybe if um fire sprite wasn't making concord we could have had fire walk fire sprite aloy walks up the mountain fire sprite could have done something else right like i think that's a big part of it we're seeing the less of that output and then even like the partnered stuff because this this generation they did have games like stellar blade and they had rise of the ronin as well stellar blade i think most people like stellar blade i don't know if i look at that as like premiere playstation first party stuff and then you hop to rise the ronin i feel like that kind of came and went it was okay it wasn't a bad game it was an okay game in my opinion came and went lost soul aside what was that like it's just been a weird a weird messy generation and so that's kind of where i start with him, Mike.

13:40Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Where do you stand on that? Yeah, I mean, blessing, I echo everything you say there, especially when you talk about cutting certain games and the idea of having those launch, right? You go from five games in the year to now two games, three games, right? You're missing out on those extra titles that you would have had to bolster it. But also, right, we're coming off of COVID, which we all know everybody was inside. Everybody was looking to play games. We're now back outside. We're returning to work. People aren't playing games as much. Now the global economy has completely ruptured and changed over the past of the couple of years.

14:13And so now people are getting their wallets are tighter. We continue to see the reports. Oh, people are playing games from eight years ago, right? They're playing games from 10 years ago. They're not buying as many new games anymore, right? And so we see all that. And then it goes down to the final part of like, yeah, well, the console sales were great and they make most of their money off of subscriptions and third-party games. It's like, yeah, that sounds exactly right.

14:35Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Yeah. I want to shout out two things. one i got it wrong firewalk so aloy drinks sprite is that the it's been so long since me barrett janet and greg came up with this that i forgot what the mnemonic device was i think aloy drinks sprite but i thought she walked off the mountain that doesn't matter um to what you're talking about yeah wallets are tight uh those big games are taking in so much uh of people's time let alone other forms of entertainment whether you want to talk about short form media tiktok tv all this stuff, right? There's so much, and also post-pandemic, people want to go outside.

15:07Blessing Adeoye Jr.:People aren't buying video games as rapidly as they were during those few years. And you're not hitting me with the hits, right? We've talked about this. There was a moment there where a lot of gamers and PlayStation fans in particular were getting frustrated with a lot of remakes, right? There was a lot of remakes down the pipe, and I could see why, right? We're matching up with The Last of Us TV show on HBO. Maybe we want to get new eyes and new players into that stuff, but there was a lot of sentiment of like, hey, we're getting a lot of remakes and remasters let's get to the new stuff here right and when you bring up naughty dog who hasn't released a new title this whole playstation generation yeah it's like oh well yeah i got last of us part one and last of us part two on that i got an uncharted collection there right and so that's hopefully for new gamers or people who want to rebuy those titles but for me who's played all of them i'm going well do i need this i want new stuff and it's hard when those games are now taking five to seven years to complete one i want to shout out is god of war ragnarok as well that was one that came out i'm sure you read it on your list but 2022 for that we're talking about how the early part of this generation felt compared to this later part of this generation i'm of course somebody who loves a death straining and so death straining 2 for me hit hard i love that game probably one of my favorite games of this generation but death straining is not for everybody when you're wanting when you're talking about these playstation first party games are you looking for revenue out of i look at a game like sorrows we've talked about recently like sorrows doesn't seem like it's hitting those same sales numbers as returnal did and i think there's a conversation about catalog what you're putting out where your audience is nowadays because sorrows i think is the definition of the kind of game that playstation audience members tend to be asking for right oh i want something fresh i want something that's a fun big budget third person action game you know maybe something that's not exactly a naughty dog game because we got we get those all the time but sorrows seems like it's trying to do that i think there's a i think there's something interesting when i look at playstation versus when i look at a nintendo and nintendo i i compare every every publisher to this as far as what that catalog looks like because they do something that people probably dog on them for but works for them which is we're going to replay the hits every generation and we're going to give you one of those hits every generation you're going to get a mario kart like one mario kart this generation you're going to get one 3d mario probably right you're going to get i know this last generation we got two 3d zeldas right but like typically you're getting like one of those big entries and like the bigger nintendo franchises with some exceptions um and i believe it was reggie when he was on our show during the pandemic on a gamescast where he was talking about like yeah that's the strategy we try to give you one every generation one of the things i believe they advised ubisoft about when it came to mario and rabbits the second mario rabbits game they put out was to be like hey maybe hold this maybe you don't put this out this generation because you already put out a mario plus rabbits and guess what the second rabbits game came out and it didn't do as good as the first one i look at sorrows and returnal and go man did the people did returnal hit at a time where it was like damn we don't have this we want this like we're early in the generation and this is something new and fresh cut to years and years later and it is we have so much volume of games that we can choose from and sorrows is another version of a something of a thing that i already played what does that do for the audience's appetite for it their hunger for it so now you read all of this and you're in the boardroom now we look at the second half of the generation really towards the end of the generation here yeah is there a flip right we talk about marvel's wolverine that is a big title a big name right there does that start to turn the tide in sony's favor the cancellation of so many live service titles now i think this playstation state of play could be i'm not saying it will be but could be a reaction to this right as far as you know we got to give the goods we we want our playstation first party revenue to get back up and you know tim talks about the unicorn games tim talks about those games that are far off we don't know the release date for but there's something to look forward to and be excited about you know intergalactic the heretic prophet i think kind of works as one of those maybe you get a few more of those announced maybe playstation is like yo we got to bring out the big guns to let people know like you got to look out for these first party games so i wouldn't be surprised if in the next few years you see enough of those announced especially now that we're a little bit past the whole like work from home pandemic era of it um Maybe that stuff starts to even out a little bit.

19:43Blessing Adeoye Jr.:And then, yeah, like Wolverine is coming out later this year. You expect that to sell well. If Intergalactic, the Heritage Profit hits next year, you expect that to sell well. What are you putting out between those around those to also uplift those first-party revenue sales? We'll see. Maybe a Cory Barlog. Maybe a Cory Barlog game. Yeah, that's a big deal right there, right? Yeah. It will be very interesting to see what else is in the catalog. And, yeah, those unicorn games that are the, hey, we got something cooking and we know you love it. but it's far away. Like, what are those, right? We kind of, I think, all in our minds, close our eyes and go, here's the top five that we want.

20:17But it is interesting of, like, where we're at. Am I announcing another Uncharted game? Am I announcing a Horizon game? Yes. Like, wild. The answer is yes to both of those. Yeah, of course.

20:29Blessing Adeoye Jr.:The answer is, and, like, I mean, I would love to be in the PlayStation boardroom meetings for, like, the higher-ups when they're talking about this. Because are they self-aware enough to go, damn, we fucked up with the live service? because i think when i when i'm looking at all the reasons that me and you are throwing out here of course live service is so high up on the list there was an obvious leaning into that from playstation they talked about it we're going to do 10 of these we're allocating 60 of our first party budget towards this to be where we're at now where i'll i'll give you held iris 2 even though i don't think held iris 2 was greenlit because of the live service thing i think that was just a we liked held iris 1 shu hasty's potential in held iris 2 let's do this yeah Even if I give you Helldivers 2, all right, what are the other successes we're talking about for PlayStation Live service?

21:14Blessing Adeoye Jr.:And how much money did you sink into that? Of course. That's where I look at this and go. Well, we talk about chasing trends, right? And if we want to circle back to the story one final time, right? Like we are looking at a gaming landscape that has drastically changed over the years, right? As much as we say it stayed true and people still want the single player blockbuster hits, we have seen over the past five to 10 years now with Fortnite becoming such a dominant force that there is a huge market now for this live service, free to play, or just, hey, here's a price point of microtransaction game that people are flocking to.

21:47Roblox is getting an unbelievable amount of player engagement. Fortnite is getting an unbelievable player engagement. And people go, well, we want to make sure we get that as well. And it's hard to create that as we've seen. It's almost near impossible to create that. And so when you double down like PlayStation did and many others did, and you have misses, you are now very farther behind the eight ball than you wanted to yeah playstation doubled down

22:12Blessing Adeoye Jr.:to the extent where they they bought the studio that was pioneering this shit they bought bungie and bungie's not they've not seen that return from bungie right they're struggling now we're just in a weird place where it's like damn in the in the other timeline on earth 2 mike where they were like fuck it we're not that that's not us let that's not us fortnite be them let fortnite Let's Roblox be them. Let's stay us. Oh, man. This generation, we're eating, Mike. Let's make money off of subscriptions and third-party purchases. We're making money off of Fortnite anyway. We make 30 % or whatever, like the sales percentages.

22:47We want that, Bless. I want that. Man. But, yeah. I think we summed it up pretty well there. Yeah. I think it's a very interesting conversation to see it on paper and go, oh, wow, really? That's where it's at? Because when I wrote out this giant list, Bless, yeah like that's a lot of games right but then when i think of playstation whatever i expect when they blockbuster first party titles and how big they are a lot of these titles aren't that right yeah some of them are but like a lot of them when i read that off it's like oh from 2020 onward we kind of started to change and we went from what four to five big games in 2020 to maybe three

23:24Blessing Adeoye Jr.:to two on over the past couple years when i think playstation circa 2017 to 2020 is like prime lebron james mike yes i don't know if you were there mike playstation from 2017 to 2020 that was game six michael jordan mike there was nothing like it we're eating you know what i mean fucking horizon zero dawn fucking um i was gonna say days gone maybe not for some people days gone not for days gone but like their god of war 2018 spider-man 2018 right we're talking about just a generational run the positive here bless that in my mind jumps to is shout out to sony for being so far in the lead over xbox nintendo they do their own thing we never bring in nintendo this because they do their own yeah xbox is so far behind that playstation can have such a huge stumble here and not even worry about xbox ever catching up right there's no way that that somehow changes they're still firmly in the driver's seats i i always push that like people are going to switch over to pc right but like we've seen prices skyrocket we haven't seen the whole shift over to that yet and now with playstation not putting games out on pc it is harder to be like man i should jump over there my library's been there but like playstation continues to just kind of be right in control with no major worries and hopefully they'll shift that and be even better next you know in this next generation as you put it but yeah i don't know you just got to get people give people things to look forward to the next generation yeah i think if and they wouldn't they wouldn't do this right but if we get to an announcement of playstation 6 and it's like we got no games then you're in trouble they're not going to do that because i do think they're they're smart people over there obviously they know they have to have games for the next generation console but i think right now a lot of the people are like oh man it feels like i'm getting this doesn't feel like a it just doesn't it doesn't feel like that run it doesn't feel like damn you guys are on fire right now it feels like all right we're getting we're getting games we're getting games here and there we got yote last year and death straining 2 which are two great games but sometimes when you're on the tippity top you get a little complacent sometimes i dream you slow down a little bit you give your teams more time in hopes that they'll make even better games right so like yeah i mean they're firmly in the driver's seat compared to their opposition xbox and they were able to slow down this generation and not have a killer oh wow this is like groundbreaking stuff and still firmly be in first place still be selling consoles way faster than the opposition like they're on top right now still um let's bring in some super chats jbc says four hours before astrobot kart racer i mean there's another kart racer we're going to talk about later in the show that's a crazy announcement i woke up opened up twitter saw that i said what is this let me tell you i can't wait to talk about that uh let's see brandon brandon medlock writes in and says it's been 27 years since ape escape remaster please i mean will ape escape you know what i mean like will will ape escape well is it worth doing an ape escape escape remaster no no of course not just like a little one for the streets yeah i mean like just a little one there's one to be like hey here's a little bit of like some love that we're gonna give you and there's a small one yeah and then it's like oh redoing anything like no we wouldn't do no um 40 vid says with 25th anniversary of kingdom hearts next year could it could it be we see the rumored kh1 remake at state of play drinking that hopium whoa i for one would love a kingdom hearts one remake that would be pretty awesome kingdom hearts one was my kingdom hearts like i didn't i didn't play two until i was an adult and that was a mistake i should have played it when i was a kid but kingdom hearts one oh man memories that would be cool um vivian toga writes or vivian toga i see writes in and says off work for constipation tax who's on the giant bomb couch i don't know if we're allowed to reveal that uh yeah and also like i'm not going down there so i can say i'm not on it yeah what i'll say is me and greg are going down there and i'm very busy i don't really have any free time when i'm down there's all we had so much fun on that giant bomb couch and we all got to go i missed that we had so much i'm gonna go back it was always it was my dream for the longest time to be on the giant bomb couch oh we did it that's cool we did it and it was my dream that all of us went together right that's one thing we don't travel a lot as the team like that and so that was pretty special to have a a large chunk of us actually go and do something together and like be split up but still be together andy hearing me talk to that one guy in the bathroom laughing was awesome yeah like us seeing miyazaki from 30 feet away and teasing andy that he didn't get to see him like this is a good time man come on uh let's see hr strikes out says b and m oh that's me and you oh nice favorite way to track mtg card counters i so if we're talking about counters like plus one counters i i typically use dice i always got his dice ready but i think i got to transition off the dice oh because at magic on i saw this and one of one of i was playing magic last night at a bar okay uh because that's my life now and one guy brought out these little like what are they called dry erase counters like where it's like these small dry erase circles that you just write the number on yeah i need to buy those because i have a i have a plus one counter deck yeah it's an interesting one of like there's just now i'm trying to figure out how much i'm really bringing to the table and i don't like bringing a bunch i'm usually not bringing a giant bag i'm very much like here's my deck here's my dice that's it right like so like for me i'm trying to bring as little as possible to like extra stuff but i will say it's fun going to magic con it's fun going to the local game store and like seeing what everybody else uses from dice to the whiteboard i think might be the best way is right bless like having that uh my numbers are getting up there i love doing the punch out counters from the pre-release boxes i'm like punching you can't do that i got these little pieces of paper flying all you can't do that you can't do that you can't do that yeah if you got a good idea let me let me know i'm always down to see it and hear it i love that people are excited today we got a lot of super chats and volk dash writes and it says 2022 was god of war ragnarok horizon forbidden west gt7 from 2024 to Now we get Astro Bot, Spidey 2, DS2, I mean Death Stranding 2, Yote, Saros, Wolverine.

29:35Blessing Adeoye Jr.:In 2027, we get a new Sony Santa Monica and a new Naughty Dog game, hopefully. Looking back, this will be fire. Output is not the main issue. Okay. All right. I like that perspective. I mean, like I said, there's a lot of games here, right? And you can take those good or bad, depending on your play style and what games you identify with. There is still a lot of games here, though. Oh, yeah. And when they say they didn't hit the revenue things, that means they didn't hit the mark, though, you know? That means they didn't hit the mark. there's either high expectations of course yeah which we do know we give a lot of lofty expectations that might not be like reality uh but at the same time you look at games like destruction all-stars and you go well that didn't hit the mark at all right that's the thing is like i there's the conversation right is to volk dasher we're talking about facts the headline here is that the sales have declined over the past five years that's that you can't dispute that's data right that's not an opinion now does that how much does that matter what expectations do they set for themselves like what are all these things we look at that and we also look at the amount of canceled games that we've talked about and seen with the live service stuff and how it feels like a lot of that hasn't worked and like sure we can say output is not the main issue i think output is not the main issue if you're in my opinion if you're just a fan looking to play games because i stand by if me and you didn't come on the show every single day to talk about video games if we weren't like many of you in the audience super locked in into what all these headlines were i would look at this generation be like well what are we talking about i never not have games to play if we were talking numbers all the time yeah we were just talking games and us having fun yeah i would have looked at you in this list and be like this is too many games for me to play exactly i can never keep up with this stuff you know yeah we're in a different world here when we're just talking brass tacks and numbers we're talking games in just moments yeah they there's a lot of output here is right a lot of output and like not even to get it into third party because i think that's the thing when you're talking about oh the revenue is up anyway it's like they're talking about subscriptions but then you look at the amount of great third party games as well i know those are everywhere but who gives a shit if i can play clear obscure you know i mean who gives a shit if i can play balder's gate 3 and all these cool games and so really at the end of the day for me and you shouldn't really matter that much no i'm playing a lot of video games having a blast that's right you know how else you can have a blast mike patreon.com slash kind of funny and youtube.com slash kind of funny games where you can go and get the kind of funny membership which allows you to get shows ad-free.

33:54Blessing Adeoye Jr.:100%. Because there's new games being announced. New games being announced. Also, new shows started because Game Showdown Season 5 started yesterday in case you missed it. I want to bring in one super chat from TheWan who writes in and says, Blessing, I got to know, in yesterday's messy mashup, would you have accepted Creme Brew Eternal Darkness instead of the answer? No. Oh, that's good. i would not have that's pretty funny i was on a walk at work and i was listening and i was trying to blurt out some of the answers on the walk laughing and giggling it was very blessed story number two x forza horizon devs reveal clutch their own open world racing game here's the thing i was gonna just read an article about it and then have kev play the thing in the background because it's basically like a a dev diary it's the um studio head kind of walking through what clutch is but then before the show tim leans over to me and he's like yo you see this trailer for clutch and i'm like no i'm not getting around to it and he's like it's pretty cool and so what i want to do is kevin you can fast forward to around a minute and a half into this video i want to watch it live with mike and and have me and him talk over it and really quick just a heads up this is some maverick games the former forza horizon creative director mike brown mike brown left that team about three plus years ago started his own studio maverick game so this is like the big announcement of hey this is our game which is a big i want to shout out it is this game is set for spring 2027 and we're going to see another trailer at summer game fest for this game and so okay so you want to talk over it you want no audio you want oh give us audio give us audio

35:29Blessing Adeoye Jr.:this racing game is called clutch

35:41for audio listeners a car is driving a car in a big open world a car in a big open world

Read the full transcript

35:47Nick Scarpino:so clutch is the story of a pair of sibling racing prodigies competing in the r1k racing series the r1k is a prestigious and historic series that's been the proving ground of the world's best drivers for a hundred years. Already I'm getting F1 movie vibes. Yes, that's good, Les.

36:09Nick Scarpino:But away from the pomp and the pageantry and commercialism of the R1K is the Midnight Collective, a group of car enthusiasts who don't care about the money and the fame of the R1K. They care about the love of driving and the raw thrill of speed. Okay. So it's a bit like Forza meets Speed for Speed. Yes, yes, yes. That's cool. So on this project, we've really had the benefit of time. It's actually the longest development of any game I've ever worked on. And that's allowed us to make some big investments that I know you're going to really appreciate. I think that's a big one. Using our custom version of Unreal Engine 5, we've been able to achieve a level of detail and accuracy never before seen in in-game car models.

36:51There's some fun stuff here with the detail of your car that I really appreciate.

36:55Nick Scarpino:exterior curve, every fleck of paint, every interior stitch, every groove of tire wear recreated perfectly.

37:04Nick Scarpino:And on older cars, there'll be signs of wear, signs of love, signs that the cars have actually been driven, been on an adventure. Licensed cars, that's cool. Oh yeah. It's a Porsche. Yeah. For some reason, I didn't expect licensed cars. Yeah, yeah, it's tough. It's not just a static presentation. A part of the joy of car ownership is that sense of connection between the car and the driver. And that's why we've pushed to set a new benchmark in car customization. A lot of sick customization on the exterior. From the options to like, you're speculating out a brand new car, to those aftermarket parts that allow it to become that true one-of-one.

37:41But what I appreciate coming up right now, we go inside the car.

37:46Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Oh, look at the lights on the under it. What do they call those? Underglow?

37:52Nick Scarpino:really feel like it's your car things like the coffee cup you and me to throw away this is oh that's fine strewn across the redwood redwood with the t-shirt on the back that's crazy whole wardrobe in the back i'm a fluffy dice okay all right well we haven't made fluffy dice but we will make fluffy dice and anything else you want to see just let us know and we can have that as well i love that

38:16Nick Scarpino:now we talked about the r1k and the midnight collective but in the early part of our game our hero gets himself into a spot of trouble a spot of trouble that leads into the services of a fixer and in doing so we smash open the doors to the underworld beneath the glitz and the glamour look at we got actual cut scenes in this thing i've seen some car some police chases high speed getaway or if you're just out exploring this beautiful open world wow so they're really mods have new ways to move through the world This is a need for speed. I like a good need for speed. Hit the grappling hook. If you want to see some more of Clutch, check out our channel for the Clutch trailer, which reveals the location the game is set in, as well as the stars of our cast.

38:58Nick Scarpino:But for now, check out our channels. Follow us everywhere. I love you all. See you next time. Goodbye.

39:02Blessing Adeoye Jr.:We can cut it there. I'm sure he goes on, but that's it. Oh, no, that's it. Yeah, yeah. Damn, I went by fast, actually. We're going to be sitting here for a second. Damn. I'm impressed, Mike. We are coming hot off the heels of Forza Horizon right now. Of course, Mike Brown, former creative director of Forza Horizon with that team over there. You're getting a lot of Forza vibes here, right? From, of course, all the cars. You see the world and the detail, right? Hearing the team has the most time he's ever had to work on the game gets me excited. But I think what everybody gets at, especially from Tim, is the push of the story.

39:37That is going to be the difference maker here compared to a Forza. I think they're going to be very similar in what you're looking at gameplay wise and size and scope. But the story, I think, is what they're trying to be like, hey, we're going to really put an effort into this.

39:52Blessing Adeoye Jr.:What if I told you about this game called Screamer? What if I could tell y 'all if you want to play a very great racing game story right now, play some Screamer. I love that we're here. This is something I wanted for the longest time. Just give me a realistic racing game with a dope ass story. That's why Screamer up until 007 First Light was my game of the year so far. right like screamer is a special game so seeing another developer somebody who led forza horizon be like i make my own studio and i'm making a story led racing game that's super cool and yeah as much as we're talking about forza i'm surprised by how much need for speed we're seeing whether it's the midnight collective stuff driving at the nighttime with the underglow or yeah police chases i police chase is big need for speed hot pursuit 2 i think was like my first like i guess realistic or arcade racing game that like my not first non-cart racing game i'll say that i was like yo i love this i'm into this like give me more of this and so i'm all i'm all about that really interesting because of course i think it is fun and fresh to have more uh choice inside of this giant open world arcade erasing sim that we have right now because we talk about forza horizon and there's not many like it's right so it's like yeah it's just forza horizon and we wait the four years we play the next one the conversation now is getting kind of samey right it's like hey just forts are rising and that's great but it's setting a new spot right and i'm doing all the same things let's see what this team can bring right because like as of right now the conversation is it's just it's more forts horizon is a story enough to pull you along or are we going to be like ah they just do all the same things that we already all do the same things the story actually isn't that interesting anyway like it will be fun and interesting to see where we get but super exciting to see more innovation in the space new competition hey show me what you got them i'm into it 100 let's talk about another game that seemingly is supposed to get revealed during one of the showcases this week story number three super yukulele cart page appears on steam db this is sal romano at gamatsu a page for a super yukulele cart play test has appeared on steam app activity tracker steam db ukulele developer platonic games recently teased quote something big happening soon asking fans to quote keep your eyes peeled end quote another teaser hinted at cart racing reading quote collecting quills is far too slow there may be faster ways to go dot dot dot end quote the game is likely meant to be announced at one of the several several showcases happening around summer game fest 2026 this week mike this is another one that speaks directly to oh snap really oh yeah because mike what if let me tell you about this game called diddy kong racing racing is my shit of course platonic came from people who worked out rare that's why they went on to make ukulele banjo kazooie inspired game diddy kong racing it's like that's your cousin you know what i mean that's your that's family right there follow the follow the map just follow the gameplay do the exact same stuff just give me diddy kong racing man and that's all i asked for i woke up to this and i could not believe it bless i was like i cannot believe we're going with a ukulele kart racer do you think you know what bless when you say it like that it makes total sense this is one of the things i wonder though right tell me because you're right a super ukulele kart racer kind of weird like how wells is going to do do you think they get other indie game characters involved okay what are some other indie games super lucky's tale i was gonna say the character from a hat in time i feel like that's that's what they always fall back to i guess more my mind is like, what's the level of quality here?

43:26Is this above a Garfield racing? Is this below a Sonic X cross road? That's where it gets weird racing. Cause like there's Mario cart, which is the tippity top. And then the next tier below, I put like the Sonics crossword, which like, Oh, these games are good. Right. Like they're not bad in any way, shape or form. They're not the top, but they're there. Are we expecting it to be up high here?

43:52Blessing Adeoye Jr.:To that question, I'd say if you can get to Sonic level, you're golden. That's honestly, you're kind of surpassing my expectations. I think for sure it's gonna be better than a Garfield kart. Yeah. I, but yeah, it's a tough thing because it's, I think for me, it is, what are you doing unique? Can you do something that separates you out from a Mario Kart or Sonic enough to where I look at it as a fun alternative to where I'm like, oh, I don't need to directly compare these because I'm playing this for this. And like you said, what is the draw, Bless? The gameplay is king here. Gameplay is king.

44:26What is the draw where I look at it and go, oh my God, they got Banjo? How'd they do that? It's a car racer, right?

44:33Blessing Adeoye Jr.:What sets it apart? You know, you can drive your car or you get into your little mini plane and you can fly through the courses. Or you have a third option, a hovercraft. I get you a boat hovercraft. If you have a boat hovercraft, you have watercourses now. Just make Diddy Kong Racing again. Okay. I like that. I know you want to. Now, they come to you. They're like, no, we do want to put in other indie characters. Yeah. Yeah. Who's the roster? Who's the five? Because I'm putting in there Mina the Hollower. Yeah. Okay. Hit me. Mina the Hollower. Shovel Knight. I get both of them. Get both of them.

45:04I get both of them. The Silksong character. Okay. The little Hornet. Hornet. And maybe the character from Hollow Knight. I like that. I like that. You know what else I get? The snake from Snake Pass. No, you don't get the snake from Snake Pass. I get the snake from Snake Pass. There's got to be better snakes out there. Calm down, bro. The snake from Snake Pass is a great... But nobody knows the snake from Snake Pass. I know him. We know the snake from Snake Pass. You won't try to say Bubsy. Schedule 1 high guy is a great...

45:30Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Oh, Madeline from Celeste. Celeste is in there. The tough thing is these are all 2D characters that are going to look jank in 3D. Well, you know, we're trying... We're stringing for the fact... Because there has to be something that catches people's eye. I don't think ukulele is that beloved. I appreciate you. But I don't know if the kids are messing with ukulele. They didn't play. I remember that. They didn't play ukulele in the impossible lair is the problem. Because if y 'all played ukulele in the impossible lair, you would understand greatness. That shit is fucking fire, which is why I'm excited for this.

46:04So we expect this will happen this week then. Yeah. We'll see that probably summer game fest. I mean, the fact that this steam tracker thing went up today.

46:13Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Yeah. could be at the state of play i guess i think it's more likely summer game fest yeah i guess i put like the super lucky's tail and ukuleles more on the xbox side of things i'm like oh sure but i guess yeah they're everywhere it's right they're everywhere yeah i legitimately can end up anywhere yeah i i yes xbox or summer game fest is where i expect to see this people are saying meat boy meat boy for sure yeah it's an interesting one now you have freedom of casted characters how weird will you get yeah because I granted I say I I clap back at you yeah I couldn't name you one character from ukulele there's a bee I think there's an evil bee in that one I remember in the I remember the cover art there's an evil bee guy in one of them I mean they love bees because like yeah there's evil bees in all their games but like yeah I think that's the catch is like I don't know who messes with this game I know it's good right but like I don't know if like kids are going to be like yo that's the one right as opposed to garfield at least you know garfield yeah sonic you know all of his friends this this is for this is for nerdy adults because yeah no kid knows ukulele okay but me you know ukulele i can't wait to see what this looks like i think this is neat i hope it's good let's move on to story number four crimson desert's upcoming content updates have been revealed including quote meaningful dlc this is chris scullion at video games chronicle crimson desert studio pearl abyss has shared its upcoming content plans for the game including confirmation that dlc is coming in the future a series of content and feature updates are planned to be coming to the game between june and september based in part on player feedback this includes new combat focused content giving players the chance to prove their true strength as a gray main and a revamp to re-blockade designed to make the flow before and after a blockade feel more natural along with new ways to defend certain strongholds from invasion Pearl Abyss will also be tweaking the game's narrative saying it will be quote refining the coherence of key scenes to strengthen the narrative flow of Cliff's journey and making it more engaging end quote playable characters Damien and Unka will also get an improved gameplay experience to ensure that all three playable characters share the spotlight other quality of life updates planned for the game include cross-save, allowing the same, you guys know what cross-save is, and improvements to trading and farming.

48:31Blessing Adeoye Jr.:While most of these updates will be added as free patches over the course of the next few months, Pearl Abyss has also confirmed that Crimson Desert will be getting more substantial DLC at a later date. Quote, beyond the good, beyond the good, beyond the content and features above, the team is hard at work on an upcoming DLC for Crimson Desert. A statement on behalf of Pearl Abyss read, quote, while details cannot be shared just yet, it is being prepared as a meaningful addition to the player's journey with more information to follow. And, well, Mike, you got to experience the greatness of Crimson Desert the other day.

49:04I'm going to promote a piece of our content right now because there is one person we should turn our attention to when we talk about this article, and it is Big Dog Kevin Coelho because if you watched last week's Gamescast plays number two on the week, you saw Kevin Coelho save 300-plus hours into the game. We talked about his time with the game. his experience, what he's really liked with these dev updates, what he's noticed through the updates, right? Like Kevin isn't a guy who's reading every single spreadsheet and every update, but he is someone that's like clearly seeing it and living it and experiencing it.

49:38And he had a lot of really good things to say. And so, yeah, I'm excited to kick it over to Kevin. I think this is another one we always talk about. Pearl Abyss is on it, right? But their history with Black Desert is a MMORPG, a live service game, right? And then putting it into this single player game of like, we're constantly updating, tweaking, changing, refining, listening to your feedback and putting it into this game, which is very impressive, right? I think a big one here, cross save to me is special, right? A cross save between PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. When you talk about a game that's like 300 plus hours, I know I'm probably very, one of the few that usually buys games on like different consoles.

50:17And I love the idea of like my save in a game that's 300 plus hours with kevin bouncing around and not being tied to just my xbox right sometimes i want to be in the pc room playing on pc or maybe i want to be out there on my playstation portal like kevin so i do like and appreciate the cross save in this but yeah kevin you're our guy what do you think about this i'm so excited as dumb as it sounds like the cross save is really cool like the idea of being able to play on the playstation and have it look nice for once because i'm playing majority of it on the portal. That's super exciting. Not hint, but like the, hey, there's going to be DLC is cool because like I'm getting a lot of like, you know, content about this in my social media apps where like people are exploring areas that are outside of the realm of like the map.

51:08So if you leave the map area, you have like 30 seconds before you get like teleported back in. and people have been exploring and finding like areas that are like oh man are they gonna add to the map and it's like i can't wait to see what comes from that uh story improvements a little bummer just finished the story yesterday no idea what happened no clue yeah can't tell you at the end i fought like a giant angel thing great like a seraphim it was wild i would say spoilers but i don't think anybody cares i don't think anybody cares there's no shot no shot i i I think a special one as well. We didn't talk about it yesterday or last week, right?

51:46No one has any Crimson Desert DLC predictions, right? I know they kind of say, hey, we have some time for upcoming DLC before we start talking about it. But, like, do we see anything Crimson Desert at a summer game fest? I think there's a big shot. It's one of the hottest games of the year right here. I mean, this is a team that's clearly on it. Do we get some sort of tease at Jeff Keighley's show? On the over-under, I'll take the over. I think, yeah. I think so, too. I'm surprised we didn't talk about it for our predictions, but I do think there's a high chance of seeing something Crimson Desert related here by the end of the week.

52:18Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Yeah. I think video games are hilarious because, yeah, them talking about refining the coherence of key scenes to strengthen the narrative flow of Cliff's journey and make it more engaging. Only in video games. Can you imagine a movie comes out and people are like, the story sucks, and then they're like, oh, we're going to fix it. We're going to rewrite that. We're going to rewrite that and then send it back to theaters. Give it another watch. That's our second take on that. yeah I mean that's just that's an interesting one as well because yeah we talked about as Kevin just said right I don't know what the hell's happening here he said right it's like I think a lot of people probably didn't follow the journey of Cliff or weren't that invested and so how do you maybe fix that story beautify that story up a little bit yeah to get people more engaged with it right and it's a huge game I would like the narrative to kind of bring me along but this one it is gameplay up in the that's the thing is yeah I think there's kind of an acceptance of yeah the story sucks the gameplay is good enough that like the people that are into it don't care you know people who like this game know that they don't like the story and so that's fine just have fun with the video game people are saying people are listening movies that did do that by the way they're saying oh the snyder cut director's cut yeah yeah i mean i i view that i guess i view it as a similar thing i think you should just have confidence in the story you're telling i guess these director cuts though the director's cuts usually have content that just was left on the cutting room floor and And so usually it's, this was my dream, but the studio wouldn't let me put out four hours of a movie.

53:38Blessing Adeoye Jr.:But now that it's successful, I can let y 'all see the four hour cut now because you guys are sickos. Langley M. Neely writes in and says, does meaningful DLC mean story? And Langley, in my mind, when I think of Crimson Desert DLC, after seeing Kevin and of course, just the game itself, I think, yes, you get more story, but meaningful DLC means to me a big package. You're going to get a large expansion. I would almost put it as like when I talk, when we talk about the Witcher and CD project red, or we talk about a live MMO game, I would put it more of expansion type. Think about that. That's what I, my mind goes to think about that.

54:17Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Story number five, Sega's streets of rage movies now being written by the duo behind the Sonic, the hedgehog films. This is Chris Skolian at video games Chronicle. The upcoming live action streets of rage movie has a new director and new writers as reported by variety and early dreamers. The screenplay had been written by Derek Kolstad of John Wick in 2022 when Lionsgate acquired the rights to the film. Kolstad has now left the project and Streets of Rage now has two new writers, Pat Casey and Josh Miller. Casey and Miller are best known as the co-writers of all three Sonic the Hedgehog movies, as well as the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 4, so their relationship with the Sega IP is already established.

54:55Blessing Adeoye Jr.:as well as its new writers streets of rage also now has confirmed a new director with james samuel helming the project i don't really have much to say here aside from cool forgot there was a streets of rage movie happening forgot there was a streets of rage movie my mind goes to i guess we're just greenlighting anything i mean yeah that's where we've been i'm like i i jumped on in streets of rage 4 right so i'm a pretty new player to all of this i really love streets of rage 4 but like I don't see a movie in this but like sure let's see what happens everything has to be IP is what it comes down to now we gotta be able to base something off of something else for people to have enough confidence to fund it because why make something new but I'm sure it'll be fun good who knows fun I think a Streets of Rage movie just sounds inherently fun to me Freak Out Bob says after Rampage anything goes and you know what Freak Out Bob you're so right after we did Dwayne the Rock Johnson Rampage you're right any movie is allowed Well, Mike, if Streets of Rage 4 releases and hits it big in theaters, that'll be huge.

56:00Blessing Adeoye Jr.:So huge. But if I wanted something small, say the tiniest news I need to know about. Where did I go? Yeah, bless. I take you to our last story, the Wii News channel, where we cover all the small news items you need to know about. Number six, Wii News. Fallout 76, Xbox Series, and PS5 versions are going to launch this summer. Nice, okay. That's big for Mr. Hawks. Mario Kart World OST is now available on the Nintendo Music app. Here's the thing. So many good songs. So many good songs, and I got excited. I got so excited when I saw this news. I dropped into KTD. I tagged him. Like, Tim has finally happened. 58:44Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Nintendo, why would you do this to me? What the fuck? Why? You're on their time now. I just want to listen to Peach's Castle, the jazz version. And you do this to me. This next one's from Noble. Speaking of Nintendo music, the app got an update. You can listen in the car with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You can create and share playlists. My Mix generates a playlist via Play History, and you can peek at the library even without Nintendo Switch online. Wow, look at them. But you can only do that on the website. Oh, okay. Yeah. Well, we're tuning things. We're getting closer. I love Nintendo.

59:19Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Okay. Wild Blue Skies launches August 13th on Xbox Series, PS5, and PC. That's the Star Fox indie looking game. Oh, okay. Indie Star Fox looking game, I should say. Another one from Gamatsu. 2XKO adds Senna on June 9th. That's one of my favorite streamers. And then... No, I think that's... I thought it was Senna. my bad my bad my bad scarlet nexus shipments and digital sales top two million and that is it for we news got out mike let's look at super chats before we get out of here and hope that we do there we go i was like one day it'll end um let's see mad rock's super chats and says new 2x ko trailer for senna with a tease for trish um i don't know who trish is thresh they write trish i if thresh is a character they probably mean that okay i think they mean thresh uh oh eight bit louise with a great one just a reminder today is election day here in california if you're voting by mail it's too late to mail out your ballot so you should drop it off in person on any polling location and for the love of god vote thank you so much for that eight great reminder i got my ballot filled out um and then let's see here i mean another one and a lot of people talking about voting shark 89 says california best friends don't forget to vote or get your ballot in today lots of races lots of races important to the state today less did you vote yes on d or no on d because i'm i'm confused yes on d or no on d and you got to remind me what d is we can talk about it afterwards yeah you need a little detail on that yeah snow 13 says not gonna lie that looks sick i got a racing wheel just in time this year's cooking with racing games shout out we're having yeah racing games and like who knows when um when ukulele cart is coming out but like if that's next year it's going to continue to be a great like get that and um yeah clutch in the same year let's see milk no mike like music writes in and says sony is losing money from investing than canceling live service games yet days gone 2's pitch was a co-op slash live service mmo and got rejected in 2021 do we see days gone 2 trailer now that's now a classic single player campaign mike where do you live on days gone yeah i don't i've never asked oh i want to throw a question back at you okay if if the head of ben studio came to you in 2021 and was like yo i want a green light i want you to green light uh a days gone mmo live service game what do you say to that i'd probably say no to that yeah i'd probably be like that's not really what we're our portfolio is looking for right yeah it's like i know i know we said we want live service yeah yeah ah not from that one though no um i don't i think days gone is dead i think we gotta give up the dream is that one super loved i i know i have chrisanka who's played that you know all the way some people love it but like yeah it's like is that the one let's look up the metacritic days gone metacritic is sitting at a 71 oh okay but you know yeah yeah let's see sales let's look up sales days gone days sales

1:02:41Blessing Adeoye Jr.:hold on hold on hold on hold on hold on okay actually hold on this is better than i thought hold on this is better than i thought and this is from ben studios he's gone sold nine million copies but that's only part of the story director says this is from 2022 let me see if i can find a more accurate number or like a more up-to-date number i should say because these are all coming from the director did like was there what were the official reporting and they're known for siphon filter series and days gone i don't want to believe the ai overview or i don't want to use that as the source because that is sourcing reddit i'm not pulling that okay i mean according to what i'm seeing it might have sold all right according to wikipedia the game has sold 7.32 million units by february 2022 okay i would view that and again we're talking about late ps4 era yeah and so you have a lot of consoles out there and so that does scale as far as what you view as as a sales unit success but 7.32 million is pretty good yeah if you'd ask me so when i go to the bend website days gone is so them it's ridiculous like their website is just nothing but like bend organ scenery shots yeah through the mountains they're ripping on a motorcycle and it's like yeah this is days gone team is right i think i don't know man i i think i think it comes down to multiple things i think the critical aspect of it does matter to playstation playstation wants critical hits they want monetary hits as well they want you to sell units playstation also does care about making a thing that is quality across the board and also i think they care a lot about the variety in their portfolio i'm so shocked that days gone came out in the first place because of it being a post-apocalyptic zombie story because that was in yeah last of us time you know what i mean like last is part two came out the year after um and so that feels like a weird like i think it fits weird in the portfolio days gone like personally i'm not somebody who really cares about days gone like that i tried days gone there was a whole playstation or ps i love you bit where i was like i'm gonna play days gone because i'm trying to play all the playstation first party games and then i started it and i was like i don't want to play this so i'm not i'm not the market for it i'd be like let's try something else okay okay um z johnson writes in and says don't tell anyone but sci-fi will be at the state of play source i saw it in a dream there you go there you go um casper j87 says hashtag justice for tim who knows what that could be about um let's see here david marchenko writes in and says i feel like this gen is on par with last gen question mark just got a just a lot of great stuff front loaded in 2021 through 2023 because the development cadence last gen was slow to start i don't disagree that last gen was really slow to start this gen started off with a bang on your ps4 ps4 generation i remember 2014 my game of the year 2014 was south park the stick truth yeah and shadow of mordor great games don't get me wrong love those games but like yeah that was like dragon age inquisition and stuff it wasn't until 2015 where we really started cooking and got games like bloodborne we got metal your solid had fought the clan and pain and got rocket league and undertale i'm just naming games okay yeah but 2015 was a great year i mean the it was the end of the ps3 life cycle when they started turning it on though and then into ps4 that's what you and i always discuss right like that was the shift yeah um ziggy tour says every state of play i wish for something persona i agree with that ziggy tour i have been thinking about persona and metaphor re fantasia lately yeah i've been getting the itch of like man it'd be nice to be playing metaphor right now persona atlas have been kind of tight with xbox lately yeah we see anything over at xbox this weekend with them maybe some more gameplay at persona 4 revival okay i wouldn't be surprised at a 2027 announcement for that i think that'd be neat yeah mike we're gonna call it there for super chats we're gonna hop into you're wrong where you write in let us know what we got wrong as we got it wrong so you can correct for those watching later on youtube listening later on podcast services around the globe um bobs no

1:07:04Blessing Adeoye Jr.:um here's the thing courtly kevin no these are not your wrongs okay you can complain somewhere else but oh yeah they're writing with complaints kebabs writes in with a you're wrong about game showdown i'll bring it in deuterogonist is the second billing character the one who's who's one spot below the protagonist blessing was thinking of dual protagonists you might be right about that i could have sworn i looked up deuteroconist before i put it in the thing but i'll give you that for now um psa that we don't always read all the super chats yeah yeah super chatting in means we're likely to read your super chat like we're going to try and read the super chats but sometimes reading all the super chats will break the flow of show it'll make us go way long because some days we get more super chats than others i i think some people are better at it than I am I'll be honest like I don't always get to all of them but my goal is to not break up the conversation because at the end of the day where I want to try and have a podcast and have a good conversation and so like if Super Chat would change the subject or something I try to keep the flow of it and then at the end of the show I try to get to them but you know we also got a schedule to keep that I'm also very bad at keeping so I try to wrap the show by 11 I never do that I wrap by 11 10 if I read all the Super Chats all the time it'd be 11 20 and I'll get talking to talking to so i appreciate you being open i want to be honest about that i'm sorry that we don't get to all the super chats especially me i'm gonna try to do better but it is what it is okay mike very excited for today blessing huge day man i'm pumped up kind of funny podcast in the gameplay stream and then you know it's this afternoon 2 p.m west coast best coast time 145 we'll turn on the pre-show stay to play stay to play summer game fest kicks off now very excited for it of course all the showcases are gonna be live reacting to and so state of play today summer game fest on friday microsoft xbox showcase plus um what's the game gears gears e day happening sunday we gotta talk about them go noon i'm waking up at 10 a.m right on a sunday come on a sunday come on team of course this has been kind of funny games daily if you love what we do support us the kind of funny membership on patreon or youtube to get our shows ad free and get a daily exclusive show enjoy everything happening next and until next time game daily
