2:05Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Today's gaming news stories include we're getting two State of Plays this Thursday, Ubisoft might have revealed the next Nintendo Direct, and Asha Sharma calls Next Gen a family of devices. We'll have all this and more because this is Kind of Funny Games Daily.

2:24Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Yo, what's up? Welcome to Kind of Funny Games Daily for Tuesday, September 1st, 2026. I'm your host, Blessing, Adio A. Jr. Joining me is the best voice in the business, Paris Lilly. Hey, good morning, Blessing. How you doing? I'm doing good, Paris. Welcome back from Gamescom. Yeah, it was a great week in Germany at Gamescom. I brought the con crud back with me, but I'm just going to be able to power through it. But yeah, it was a fun week. Got to see a lot of games, got to play a lot of games, got to talk to a ton of people. And I had a bucket list moment that came out of nowhere. I got to meet and talk with Doug Cockle, who is the voice of Geralt of Rivia.

3:05Wow. Literally the nicest person on earth. That's so cool. Yeah, yeah. I legitimately told him, I go, this is a fan moment for me. and if I say something dumb right now because I'm such a fan I apologize in advance but yeah he was just the nicest guy in the world being able to talk to him and hang out with him for just a little bit but uh yeah overall great uh great games comment I gotta get props to kind of funny so the night of the GTA reveal um for in Germany it was like nine o 'clock at night and we're at dinner and you know people are pulling out their phones kind of trying to see what was going on and I didn't watch it right away i watched it later like one o 'clock in the morning but that next day so many people were referring back to everything that you guys were talking about during the reveal yeah kind of funny got a lot of love the next day uh for that gta reveal and then i went back and watched everything that you guys were talking about too and yeah just fantastic like i'm gonna say this i'm not the biggest grand theft auto fan in the world i know how big it is and how relevant it is but after seeing that reveal and then hearing, you know, Greg and Andy talking about everything they got to see, I'm like, I think I'm on board.

4:18Really? I think they got me. This game sounds absolutely incredible. So, you know, props to you guys for just doing such a fantastic job, you know, with that preview. And then secondarily again, props to Greg for the blood of Don Walker review that he did yesterday. I was at gamescom, so I was going to be on it, but I was going to be impossible that I was going to complete it in time. And I think his score was pretty spot on pretty much how I felt about it as well. I, it's such a fantastic game. I mean, some jank, you know, that hopefully they'll get patched up here pretty quickly by the time it launches.

4:53But overall, I love it. I, I, it's just a me kind of game. And I'll say this one last thing before we jump into the show. I have to give love to an indie game that I got to see at gamescom called hello sunshine hello it was it came out of nowhere for me um i think they're talking potentially

5:13Blessing Adeoye Jr.:2027 it's coming out and here here let me give the synopsis it's the iron giant survival game and the sun is trying to kill you oh wow okay i'm i'm i'm telling you okay if you see this in action you will absolutely fall in love with it and i just i was just praising the devs the whole time during the demo i was like i cannot wait to get my hands on this game so if you're looking for an indie sleeper hit out of games comp check out hello sunshine kevin if we can possibly get a uh yeah oh he's already on it because i'm i pulled it up on steam i love the art style of this yeah this looks really cool and yeah like i see immediately the iron giant vibes that you're talking about right like being the small character picked up by this huge robot looking creature this looks really cool paris yeah it really just seeing the demo in action because legitimately the sun is trying to kill you so you're constantly looking for shade so the robot um is kind of your your guardian in a way it's kind of helping you get from point to point and then at night you have to do like because and you're constantly uh you know scavenging for supplies and things like that and then at night you're trying to repair the robot you got people trying to attack you you got mystery like there's so much going on in this game that i'm like wow this is such a me kind of game and like you said the art style is fantastic hell yeah yeah i want to hear a little bit more about gamescom we have a jam-packed show because yesterday because there are two review embargoes we did two two games cast missed on and doing kind of funny games daily and so all the weekend's news plus this morning's news has been fed into today's episode so we got a lot to talk about but before we get there i want to ask you because i've never been to gamescom i don't know if kind of funny has ever even been to gamescom before um but that's why i want to hear a little bit more about it like what other games did you did you get to try out like who who else did you get to run into and be a fanboy over yeah yeah i mean god there's just let's put it this way there there were 368 000 people at gamescom over over that that week and i'm pretty sure on day two i ran into all of them at once there's just wow so many human beings that come through those those halls uh during that event it's crazy um as far as games that i got to see did you see during open night live that what was it that one 1001 tales of of misa i believe i believe i'm saying that correctly yes i got the um what they call the arabian knights yes exactly and you're writing on the carpet and the whole thing yeah i got i got to do a demo of that pretty cool concept i mean obviously they still got some some work to do on it before it before it comes out but a lot of potential with that i did go hands-on with fable um doing the combat session with that how's that good um it felt good felt good felt intuitive played on the default difficulty and then i did a second run on the legendary difficulty which was the next to highest difficulty again felt good there's a lot of potential there and i know there's been a little bit of controversy about the the length of the main game being 15 to 20 hours that's always been fable the whole thing about that makes fable fable is the side content is the romances you'll do buying real estate things like that so i'm not too concerned about the length of the game but i looked and played good yeah yeah i played state of decay three as well and i've never played state of decay before so this was my first time but having that co-op survival zombie apocalypse experience you know you're scavenging for supplies things like that and you can essentially have a persistent world between your friends um and you it's invite only so no one can just join you have to invite someone if you want them to be a part of your world a lot of potential there i think with that um played final fan well i wonder what i can say on an embargo i will just simply say i played final fantasy 7 revelation i won't dive into my thoughts i think there's an embargo with that um like i just talked about hello sunshine god there's just there's so much did you get to play or check out the Witcher 3 songs of the past yes I was going to get into that so literally my first appointment was was to go see that and I did the behind closed doors demo for that it was about an hour long um with that along with the Witcher 3 remastered and you got to kind of see those quality of life improvements and you know and play with songs of the past I don't I don't know when I'm gonna have time that's my problem now it's like there's so many games that are coming out and this is dropping on September 29th.

9:39So I got to figure out some way to do a full run of that again, but looks really good. The visual upgrades that they were able to do, and it already was a good looking game for being 11 years old, looks even better now. And on PC, they're going to do path tracing. It's what CD Projekt Red is able to do and to give it to you for free, free upgrade. You're getting the existing expansions for free as well. And then songs of the past in 2027. And again, they're just doing what they always do as far as that stuff goes. Let me give this side note with CD Projekt Red. So something I did to go out of my comfort zone.

10:17They had a community party that was offsite from Gamescom, you know, during during the event. I went by myself, didn't know anybody. I was like, you know what? I'll never get this opportunity again to go to a community event in another country. I'm just going to go. I went, had a fantastic time. I met people. Hell yeah. Obviously, there was a Turner German people there, Dutch. I mean, I was hanging out with these Italian fans that read the thing, and we just had a great time. The cosplay that they had at that community event was just off the charts. Like, being around so many passionate people about a game, it's just, it makes you realize a lot of the nonsense that we've seen on social media is just not real because that's what it's all about.

11:01You know what I mean? So props to CD Projekt Red for doing something. And they did it last year, I guess, as well. But props to them for throwing that. All the fans there. Everyone just had a great time. They were doing live music of all the Witcher songs while we were there. Like I said, the cosplay was fantastic. And, yeah, dude, it was just a great time. One day I want to go to Gamescom.

11:21Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Every time I hear people talk about it, I'm like, this sounds like such a blast. And to be at a gaming convention that big with that many people, you have all these events going on around it, the parties and all that stuff. that sounds like such a blast, Paris. Oh yeah, it is. And look, tell Greg and Tim to let you go just once. And I get it. It happens at a time. You guys are obviously super busy. I understand why you know, kind of funny doesn't go, but it's something you want to experience at least once. I'm fortunate enough. This is the third time I've gone to Gamescom and it feels worth it every time.

11:51I always have a great time.

11:52Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Oh yeah. Well, let's get into the show. Remember, if you're watching live, you can be a part of the show by super chatting in over on YouTube.com slash kind of funny games. If you're super chatting in, what I want to know from y 'all, what are y 'all predictions for what's going to be in this PlayStation state of play? I'm curious on what y 'all have to say because I started jotting down what I want to talk about right before this episode. I'm like, oh, okay, this is going to be an interesting one, I think. So super chatting with those. Remember, we couldn't do this without our producers over on Patreon.com slash kind of funny.

12:17Blessing Adeoye Jr.:So thank you to Carl Jacobs, Omega Buster, Delaney, the Psalm Twining, and Lax Nomad. For now, let's begin with what is and forever will be the Roper Report. It's time for some news. We have eight stories today. A Baker's dozen! Starting with our number one, State of Play and State of Play Japan return on September 3rd. I'm reading directly from the PlayStation blog. State of Play returns Thursday, September 3rd, with two broadcasts airing back-to-back. First, tune in for a new State of Play featuring updates and announcements from PlayStation Studios and our third-party partners, concluding with an extended look at the vast world of Final Fantasy VII Revelation from our friends at Square Enix.

13:02Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Immediately following, stay tuned for a new episode of State of Play Japan, once again hosted by Yuki Kaji. State of Play Japan will offer deep dives into upcoming games from game studios in Japan and Asia, including new gameplay, announcements, and more. Watch both broadcasts live on September 3rd, starting at 6 a.m. Pacific time on YouTube and Twitch. State of Play will air in English with Japanese subtitles also available. State of Play Japan will air in Japanese with English subtitles available. See you there. Of course, Kevin has pulled up the tweet from Final Fantasy 7, where they tweeted out, State of Play concludes with an extended look at the vast world of Final Fantasy 7 Revelation.

13:42Blessing Adeoye Jr.:See you on Thursday. And then they do a little eyes emoji. Paris, what do you think we can expect on Thursday? Yeah, I'm so conflicted on it because... Do you show intergalactic now? Do you? I mean, that's kind of where I'm leaning. I feel like Wolverine is so close. I don't think you're getting anything really in-depth with Wolverine. You're already showing the God of War Le Fay. If there's anything new big to get people aside, it would have to be intergalactic. It would have to be. But I'm just not confident it'll be that. I'm going to lower my expectations and just think it's going to be some smaller content.

14:24Blessing Adeoye Jr.:my thing is final fantasy 7 revelation closing this thing out right because they say state of play concludes with an extended look right if you're gonna show intergalactic again i feel like that's a closer that's the only reason why i don't think we see it this week is like i think you hold that for when it is going to close out a state of play property because that brings the house down no completely agree that that's that's kind of kind of my point I just feel like that's a showstopper. That is the highlight of something. If anything, you might even advertise that ahead of time because you're going to want to make sure everyone tunes in for it.

14:59Blessing Adeoye Jr.:I mean, speaking of things that you'd advertise ahead of time, God of War Lave. I feel like this would be a natural fit for a state of play happening right now because I'm double checking the release date, but this game releases early next year, if I remember correctly. Yeah, February. February 16th. And so that tells me this might be the last state of play before that game comes out. There's always game awards as well. And so you have that as an option. I guess you could also, if you wanted in January, do a God of War specific state of play. That's what I'm thinking. Yeah. That's kind of what I was thinking.

15:31I think you might hold it until January and do it then. And pronounce it again because I think, what did I say? Lafay? How do you pronounce it?

15:40Blessing Adeoye Jr.:I think they pronounce it differently, but I say God of War Lafay. Okay. Alright, Lao Fae. Alright. But yeah, I don't see... I almost feel like that's too early to show because I think you do have an opportunity with the game rewards and in January to show it off then. And then that's very close to launch. So it's top of mind. Yeah, I don't know. Do you think we see anything from it? Because my thing is, can we get maybe a teaser? Maybe there's a character that shows up. Maybe part of a sizzle reel, potentially. Okay. I can see that. And then maybe game awards, you do a bigger trailer that kind of shows off a lot and gets people get people that last second like big hype moment before the game comes out um i imagine some kind of wolverine launch trailer you know i think i think that's an easy layup for something you'd include in the state of play what about until dawn 2 possible that that would make a lot of i could see that i i think i think my thing because what is it 6 a.m our time 6 a.m our time it's coming out yeah so i almost feel like this is going to be more Japanese titles you know oh yeah Asian titles that that's kind of how I'm feeling so that's why I'm like lower expectations don't expect anything too significant out of this but I think until dawn couldn't make a lot of sense and then if we're getting new content for an astro bot or sorrows or something like that I could see that being a part of it as well well you know you talk about the Japanese part of it and this is being divided into two different state of plays you know we got the right traditional state of play and then we got the japan state of play right after which i forget what it was like the last time they did state of play japan because this isn't the first one if i remember correctly we had one of these before i need to go back i might do this as we talk go back and see like the everything announced because i want to know how deep in the bag are we getting there is it going to be japanese titles and like asia continent titles that i've like not heard of before that are very specific to that audience or is it going to be things like a final fantasy um resonance that is still coming out i believe that's coming out on multiple consoles i forget i forget if that's an exclusive or not but are we going to get something like that are we going to get rpgs or action games i might speak to a wider audience we see something about phantom blade zero perhaps see i think they just did a big blowout for phantom blade zero so i don't i don't think so because I thought about that as well.

18:04Again, I'm fascinated. I'm actually very fascinated to see what they will show in this. I just, I'm definitely not expecting Intergalactic, for sure, because I just, like you said, that's a show closer. I don't see them just dropping that out of nowhere.

18:19Blessing Adeoye Jr.:So I have opened the IGN article from the previous State of Play Japan, which went down November, this article is from November 11th, 2025. and as i'm going through we got dragon quest 7 reimagined which i think that could be a nice one to reshow here as well um there's this game that got i believe it got um andy and mike excited me and greg were like or me and tim were like what in the world this game in conbini one store was announced uh there there was coffee talk tokyo uh there was broken lore a lot of these seem like more specific games that might speak to them maybe a bit more of an niche audience fatal frame 2 yeah dynasty warriors there's a grand teresmo 7 update um there was a bunch of bandai namco stuff including like a pac-man world 2 and sonic the hedgehog collaboration monster hunter wilds let's see nothing that's like we got octopath traveler zero and then we got um a marvel tokon fighting souls beta elden ring night rain dlc was there so yeah it seems like a mixture like you're not getting of course you're not they're never gonna get super duper niche but it is in that like if you know you know sort of area of games yeah yeah that i think that makes a lot of sense yeah for sure um a couple more i'll throw out then sorrows do we see any sort of update dlc expansion endless mode co-op i think that's very possible that would make a lot of sense because because we're what are we about four over three or four months since launch so I could see them start talking about update for that what about their games which is seemingly being rebranded as break-in there was a big talk about this during the previous state of play do you think we see it here I don't think so I would be completely transparent and say I don't think that game ever makes it to market yeah I can see that I'm right there with you now do we see any PlayStation VR titles

20:25no i don't think so yeah it seems like they're starting to distance themselves from vr i know they're doing it a little bit but i'm gonna say no now i want to ask you what is your overall

20:38Blessing Adeoye Jr.:temperature on playstation's future slate because we're talking about a lot of things we're like i don't see this happening i don't see that happening i don't see that even coming to market like i as i was prepping this show i was thinking about it was like well i'm looking forward to God of War Lave, you know, Wolverine's about to come out. Like there's some exciting PlayStation games, but it's definitely, it feels like there's sort of a muted like feel to the upcoming PlayStation slate. Do you feel that at all? Yeah. And I'm going to throw it back at you. I know what you mean because I just don't know beyond everything that you've already listed.

21:15there's this void of what else are these studios working on and i'll throw it back to you like i feel like intergalactic that that's got to be next holiday right i mean it's because if not what else do they have that would be the big holiday title for them in 2027 so i'm i'm thinking we we will get some intergalactic news here soon enough which could be the game rewards or obviously early 2027 going into the holiday but then beyond that no idea i i think it's safe to assume we're going to get a spider-man 3 from insomniac at some point at some point but i i just don't know i mean there's big question marks what their internal studios are doing right now so they you would think in 2027 we we should be able to get a bigger picture of what they're doing

22:06Blessing Adeoye Jr.:internally yeah i think i'm 50 50 on intergalactic hitting second half next year i think that'd be great for them because then you can at the end of that year you can look back and be like hey we launched god of war lava in intergalactic and kind of look at 2028 as a sorry 2027 as a banner year part of me thinks that slips anyway like i think probably internally they're talking about end of next year i don't because it's naughty dog i just don't have any faith that it hits that right I think you see it slip into 2028, which I'm also kind of fine with, you know, like God of our Lave is a game that's going to be in the, that hopefully if it lives up is going to be in those end of year conversations, action adventure, game of the year, game of the year, narrative story, performances, all that stuff.

22:49Blessing Adeoye Jr.:If intergalactic comes out the same year, I think those bump up against each other in those conversations so strongly that it does a disservice to each, to the other game. When you're at those end of year awards. Now you then come back to, well, how much do those end-of-year awards matter when you're trying to hit a bottom line and you're trying to make sure that you're selling enough copies for your fiscal year and all that stuff? At a certain point, it's like, well, hey, God of War Lave is coming out this fiscal year. We want Intergalactic to be the game of the next fiscal year, right? Of course, that cutting off in March.

23:21Blessing Adeoye Jr.:It doesn't matter to us. We just need these games out. So if that happens, sure, that's good for them. But I personally, for the awards conversation, I don't know, man. And I think those games coming out in separate periods would be better for them at those end of year award scenarios. Yeah, I'm with you as far as the accolades go, but I think money wise, they probably don't care. They're just, hey, we want to make sure that we got consistent content, you know, to keep our customers happy. So, I mean, to your point, it very well could slip, but I would assume they got to be targeting Holiday next year for Intergalactic.

23:59Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Let's bring in some super chats. Cabal writes in and says Forza Horizon 6 date no physical release like Forza Horizon 5 what do you think of that Paris

24:11hey with this new administration I'm not surprised yeah honestly yeah I'm not I think let's put it this way if the current administration had decision making of where these games would go I don't even think Forza Horizon 6 would have would have a PlayStation version

24:28Blessing Adeoye Jr.:no I don't think so yeah um jbc writes in and says my prediction for state of play it's all about persistence bless bloodborne time and i'll tell you right now you gotta you gotta kill the dream for now i think eventually maybe we could get a bloodborne thing in the future but i don't in the ways in which we've talked about what's the story with bloodborne jason schreier has talked about the idea that um playstation and blue point they kind of wanted to do bloodborne but miyazaki and fromsoft were like no and so they were like hey we're gonna respect that and so they didn't do it i wonder if that sentiment is changing as we've seen layoffs and studio closures and all these things happen at playstation at a certain point you got to go well fuck it we're making blood right no i i'm with you on that but to you to your original point probably just out of respect of of you know of the original creator yeah do you want to burn that bridge let's put it that way and playstation does not that's going on they absolutely do not but it's it's the thing do you want to burn the bridge or do you want to give everybody else what they want right like your bottom line you're odd everybody wants bloodborne too yeah agreed um aaron line writes in and says i want a new ape escape state of play japan gives me that hope we'll see it from team asobi announce that media molecule announce what media molecule is up to surprise me with something out of left field like dynacrisis or zone of the enders.

25:57Blessing Adeoye Jr.:I like a lot of what you're putting down here. I think a return of Ape Escape in like a small, cute way would be fun. I really am so curious about what Media Molecule is up to because that's a studio that I love a lot. I really dug Dreams, even though Dreams was this weird thing that was kind of unsellable in terms of how do you really market that. But I think it's a brilliant studio. I'm so interested to see what comes out from them next. Is it going to be something more traditional? Is it going to be returned to LittleBigPlanet? is it going to be something really weird like dreams i think that can't be the case but i'm i'm just very curious yeah and that goes just goes back to what i was saying before like what are these studios working on and when are they going to start revealing them i would think again going back to the state of play if it's something smaller and maybe you know more niche i could see it being revealed here but if it's something that's a bigger deal i don't think we would see it at the state of play one that i'll throw out as i'm thinking about this kena scars of cosmora yeah yeah yeah what's up with that game you know slated for this year we've not heard anything about it paris we have to see it right yeah to your point it is supposed to come out this year maybe that's a perfect opportunity to announce the release date it's in october or something like that right you do it at that state of play so yeah i totally forgot about that game yeah that one makes a lot of sense to be shown at the state of play i think it gets shown i think i think we get a date but the date is next year i think it's yes and i think it'll be good if it slips because it's such a packed fall right now well yeah this this month or yeah we're in september in september this month is insane going into october so yeah if you just want to get out of the way of all this madness that would make a lot of sense um oh this is an interesting one from Cletus Hamwater odds that we get the final fantasy seven revelations release date yeah you know what that I could totally see that I could totally see that again I can't remember embargo so I'm being careful on what I say but uh yeah I I definitely think we could see a release date I think that'd be dope I also think that could be something that happens at a game awards final fantasy seven revelations is something that you can I don't I don't mean this in like a negative way you can like milk the marketing of that game for a while right that's the kind of game that i could foresee showing up at everything between now and its release and so if you do more extended gameplay deep dives and then uh at game awards have that be the big blowout you can close out of game awards with the final fantasy 7 revelations release date yeah i guess that is true because what was it summer game fest and then obviously it opened your night live so jeff just does the trifecta yeah that's a really good point actually yeah um and then man a lot of people uh rolling with super chats here we're gonna tackle only a couple of them at least we tried gaming also rolling with kena too of course shout out to that epic legend says state of play japan could show the new okami that'd be fun yeah yeah absolutely and i'll do just one more let's do one more from bander sn who says every state of play in the last years has had one first party game reveal laofay cradle trilogy wolverine tokon sorrows yote uh intergalactic or media molecule they say that's a good point like you're always going to get something first party revealed at these state of plays i don't it here's the thing you mentioned tokon bander sn i also wonder what are the third party deals that are happening for first party releases you know i look at games like rise of the ronin for example that was a playstation first party game stellar blade which was published as a playstation first party thing in times like these where playstation first party proper doesn't have as much to fill out the slate of games this is when playstation goes to third party developers and go and go hey we want exclusives we will publish your game and throw money at you and so i i expect my my prediction would be that it would be one of those i don't know if i foresee something that's like first party first party but i could see a first party deal right a second party game oh yeah in my opinion i i fully expect something like that even if it's not a headliner i definitely see them doing some kind of third party second party uh partnership for sure yeah paris let's move on to story number two after a word from our sponsor do you smell it in the air it's review season and it's only going to get crazier.

33:47Blessing Adeoye Jr.:And we're back. There's a chat that asks, what is a second party? Which is a good question because it's an older term that PlayStation at least doesn't use anymore. But it's the idea of a PlayStation published game that's not being developed in-house. So something like A Stuller Blade or Rise of the Ronin, any of those that are from studios that PlayStation didn't own but are exclusive, would be considered second party. They don't use that terminology anymore. But now it's just first party if PlayStation publishes it. But Paris, you're going to say something. Yeah, I was going to say a current example of a second party now with Xbox with all their changes.

34:20Undead Labs is now a second party to Xbox because Xbox is publishing State of Decay 3, but they no longer own Undead Labs. And the same will be for the next Hellblade from Ninja Theory because Xbox will publish it, but they no longer own Ninja Theory.

34:40Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Paris let's talk about story number two Ubisoft may have accidentally revealed the next Nintendo direct date thanks to Just Dance League this is Cade Onder at IGN Nintendo fans believe Ubisoft may have just revealed the date of the next direct and if it's true it's very soon recently a bunch of content from the new Just Dance game Just Dance decades of hits surfaced online prompting response from Ubisoft the studio confirmed the content is real and stated that it would reveal more on September 10th. Fans have started to connect the dots that this may be the date of the next Nintendo Direct. Historically, Ubisoft shows off the dancing franchise during Nintendo Directs in September, and Nintendo tends to hold these Directs around the date mentioned in Ubisoft's post.

35:20Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Of course, this is just speculation, but it would track based on Nintendo's history. The company is overdue for some news on the Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time remake, and Sony is also gearing up for a state of play later this week. It's not uncommon for the two companies to have presentations back to back like this though that is often coincidental paris do you buy it are we getting this next nintendo direct on september 10th with just dance news i could totally see it it wouldn't shock me at all so it tracks it makes a lot of sense and to the point that you made in there we're overdue for some ocarina time news so yeah i i could see it yeah jason there says holy shit somebody brought up the patterns and like here's the thing i bring up the patterns all the time one of the patterns being that playstation and nintendo they're on the same exact schedule like it is it is a february or march um presentation followed by the summer presentation followed by the september presentation and so 100 like i you were getting a nintendo direct in september and probably on this date the only thing that the only thing that does throw me off is that they said it you know what i mean like they said September 10th which in my mind I'm like maybe they're just dropping it maybe like that I feel like to be able to say this is when we're getting news that has to go to somebody that knows whether or not they can say that information and if it is at a direct you'll think that they would know better you would think that they would be like no we can't say that but it's Ubisoft and so I don't know what to believe anymore when it comes to confidence exactly Paris let's shift over and talk about xbox with story number three xbox ceo calls project helix a family of devices this is from jay peters at the verge according to xbox ceo asha sharma project helix which she announced why

37:19Blessing Adeoye Jr.:it's almost like we're running late on kfg and I'm trying to pick up the pace of the show and somebody has to grind it to a halt.

37:33Blessing Adeoye Jr.:I imagine this is going to include some kind of game showdown spoilers. If you're somebody who hasn't watched the episode yet, you might want to mute this for a second. Why rush? Why rush, bless, on a day like today? Because we've got a schedule I'm trying to meet. There's no schedule to worry about. There's no guest today. Hello, Paris. Great to see you. How was Gamescom? It was fantastic, sir. That's what I like. Great job yesterday on the, on the Dawn Walker review. Thank you. Uh, it wasn't my only amazing thing yesterday. If you didn't know, of course we're kind of funny. We're a live talk show network.

38:05I'm sorry, everybody. If you can't keep up with the spoilers, the content, the thing, but it's insulting that we've moved on to story number three. When story number one should have been that Greg Miller is the first ever game showdown

38:23Tim blew an eight, three lead. He did an eight, three lead somehow ending with me in an overcooked category. Oh my God. And don't even get me started on among us, but I'm not here to disparage the two fucking morons I put in the ground yesterday. Great show. Great job. Instead, I'm here to talk to you about story. Number three, your four Pete champion. Greg Miller is going on a world tour and you're all invited to come be a part of the team orange victory parades. Friday, September 4th. That's this Friday blessing. It is this Friday. Yeah, I'll be kicking it. Oh no. With team orange and all the team orange faithful at PAX West.

39:12That's right. Everybody. I'm hosting the keynote story time with Mark Merrill, co-founder and CPO at riot. games. You can come hear him talk about fucking 20 years of riot, or you can come celebrate me, the team orange champion. That's 11 AM in the main theater. Again, Friday, everybody packs West Seattle, not too late to come see your four Pete champion. Remember everybody, this is as close as Jesus walking your streets. You're ever going to see for me. Holy shit. If that wasn't enough, You say, maybe you can't get to Seattle. Can you get to Anaheim? BlizzCon Saturday, September 12th, legend stage five 30 kind of funny live from BlizzCon.

39:57It'll be me washed up loser from team purple snow bike. Mike Diablo podcast is Zanth. We're talking to a whole bunch of Blizzard people about all the cool stuff announced at BlizzCon that I don't even know about. And then as was already said, but if you needed a reminder, October 12th through the 16th here in San Francisco is kind of funny. Top 100. And every day we will end the shenanigans with a parade in my honor. Team orange, the first ever four Pete champion on game showdown history. Kevin hit my music blessing. It's always a pleasure. Of course you did a great job building this season, this show.

40:34I loved how you did the whole thing. You did the thing with Katie G. Katie G shot. You're my homie.

40:40Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Yeah. Shout out. shout out kdg i don't know how this happened by the way because we're in full spoiler territory for yesterday's game showdown i have no idea how greg became the winner of that because like a peek behind the curtain if you re-watch that episode listen to the questions i'm asking i was trying to help team purple like the answer to the first question was Plague Tale Innocence, a game that I know only Andy has played. So how did Greg, how was Greg the one that got the right answer? I have no idea. But here we are. He earned like fucking 18 stars in one episode. Somehow Tim only earned like two.

41:22Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Jesus. Anyway. What were we talking about? I don't even remember anymore. Some Xbox. Yeah, it was Xbox CEO called Project Helix of Family Advices. This is Jay Peters at The Verge with story number three. Why did he say Among Us? chat hey why did he say it why did andy according to xbox ceo asha sharma project helix which she announced in march as a code name for microsoft's next generation console phrasing that seemingly implied a singular device will actually be a family of devices but we've been working hard or so let me say this again we've been hard at work on a great next generation and a great family of devices for helix and we'll share more soon sharma told bbc news she shared the answer after being asked if Helix will be a diskless console.

42:06Blessing Adeoye Jr.:She didn't answer that, but this week, Microsoft announced a program for digitizing your physical games. In 2025, Microsoft and AMD announced a strategic multi-year partnership to work together on a portfolio of devices, including Microsoft's next-generation console. So, it seems likely the two companies are also partnering on this family of Helix devices in some way. It's been rumored that third parties will be able to sell Project helix devices of their own a rumor that xbox's vp of next generation jason ronald didn't exactly deny when he wrote that quote project helix will be available as a first party xbox console end quote it's unclear when project helix which will be able to play pc games might actually launch in february shortly after sharma's surprise appointment to the top job at xbox amd hinted that it would be ready to support a launch of microsoft's next generation xbox in 2027 and at a conference in march ronald said that helix wouldn't reach alpha until 2027 paris lily what does ashishama calling project helix a family of devices mean to you yeah i i thought about this and to me it means four possible things i i do think what jason And Ronald said, yes, they will have a first party console slash PC hybrid device that that is Helix.

43:25I also think they will have their own handheld as well. I would imagine essentially there will be Helix in the cloud. So the current Series X cloud initiative, they'll upgrade that to basically the Helix chipset. That'll be in the cloud. So Fire Stick might have their own dongle. Obviously, you're able to do it through the TV, stuff like that right now. And then I think the fourth one is the third parties. I think you'll see an Asus variant, a Lenovo variant, and you'll see it scale across price points and, you know, power. You know what I'm trying to say? Like, there'll be a more high end one, lower end one, things like that.

44:08So they can kind of have some affordability with that as well. but that's what i think when when i when i hear that family of devices they'll do some first party stuff but you'll also see some third party variants as well yeah affordability i think is

44:21Blessing Adeoye Jr.:the biggest challenge of next generation and i think you need to figure out a way to get consoles into people's hands right like it needs to be affordable relatively to the average joe in some way um and so i think having a family device is where you can have the highest scale thing right or you're gonna have a version that you can actually buy and play is really important do you think 2027 is the date or is the year i should say you know i i push back for the longest that they should just delay it i i don't think they are i think they're just gonna plow ahead and they're just gonna gonna put it out in a holiday 2027 and i think i hate even saying this i think we're in this new normal of console prices so it's probably gonna be super expensive they know it's going to be super expensive and they're just, it's out.

45:10We, they got to move forward. It's kind of like even with this old exclusivity thing with them, they're damned if they do damned if they don't. So you got to start somewhere. So I think that's why they're just going to plow ahead with gears and whatever else they're going to have exclusive. Cause you got to start doing it. If they're committed to selling hardware and the, and you know, it's funny, Asha Sarma herself has said they're doing this at the absolute worst time with the Ram apocalypse, but you got to start. You have to do it. You can't keep putting it off. And I kept thinking, all right, delay it.

45:41Maybe the prices will go down. Clearly, they're not going to go down anytime soon, unfortunately. So to the point, they got to figure out how can they make these things as affordable as possible? Or people just simply not going to buy them because sure, the hardcore is going to run out and spend a thousand plus dollars on a console. but the family that's you know with gas prices and food prices and everything else you know they got to make you know they got to make real life decisions on what they're going to buy and a console is not going to be a part of that so yeah it'll be out i just don't think it'll sell to a lot of people initially because i just think it won't be affordable but we'll see what they do

46:22Blessing Adeoye Jr.:in the next year yeah let's move on to story number four around 80 of star wars zero company Studio Bit Reactor was reportedly furloughed weeks before its release. This is Chris Skolian at Video Games Chronicle. The majority of staff at Star Wars Zero Company Studio Bit Reactor were reportedly furloughed weeks before the game's release. Star Wars Zero Company was released last week to widespread critical acclaim, with a Metacritic score currently sitting at 85. By the time the game had launched, however, most of its developers had reportedly been sidelined without pay as the studio started running out of money.

46:52Blessing Adeoye Jr.:According to a source speaking to GameFile, Around 80 % of the team has been furloughed, meaning they retain their employee status but have been removed from the company's active payroll. Another source told the publication that only a skeleton staff currently remains of BitReactor, ready to respond to bug reports following the game's release on August 27th. A representative from BitReactor confirmed to the publication that it had furloughed many of its workers before the game's release, but didn't specify how many staff had been affected. They also stated that it had been a difficult decision to make, that it had been made before it was known how the game's release would go, and that it was solely BitReactor's decision, and therefore nothing to do with the Star Wars IP owner Disney or the game's publisher EA.

47:33Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Former BitReactor employee Zachariah Scott, who was a cinematic storytelling artist at the studio for three years before saying he was fired from the studio on May 2026, made reference to the furlough on his LinkedIn page. Quote, it is sick and weird to have all these EA and Disney folks as well as BitReactor senior staff making all of these 10 out of 10 posts about Star Wars Zero Company being such a huge success and praising the work of the team while seemingly concealing the fact that the team was furloughed weeks ago, he wrote. Quote, it is a gross but all too common sight to see. Another corporate game hitting the top of steam while the team is left looking for work and cut off from any possible profit sharing.

48:13Blessing Adeoye Jr.:It would be such a different story if they had been upfront about it earlier, and now it feels like they're trying to keep the team in a holding pattern with good vibes and more empty promises, end quote. Scott told Gamefile that he had spoken to nearly a dozen BitReactor staff over the weekend, most of whom confirmed they had been furloughed three weeks ago, and that they weren't confident they would all get their jobs back again, even if at least some employees returned from the furlough. Paris, what a crazy story this is. I mean, going back to Gamescom, this game was the talk of Gamescom. Everybody loves this game.

48:50Game of the Year continued. Like, it was just getting such high praise. I even saw you playing it on stream. It's a fantastic game. And then you see this, and it's just like, what are we doing? So even a game that everybody loves, getting all this critical acclaim, yeah, we can't even pay the staff. You know, hopefully we can figure it out. It sucks. this is unfortunately the new normal of the gaming industry right now this is not the first story that we've heard like this and it won't be the last so it's like just when does it end it's like making a good game is no longer good enough so i i have no answers i don't even know what you can

49:29Blessing Adeoye Jr.:do at this point yeah no it's a sad story right and for those what for those who might not know what a frello is versus what a layoff or what it being fired is right it's a temporary mandatory leave of absence from work during which an employee does receive pay but usually keeps their job um or employee does not receive pay but usually keeps their job and basic benefits right and so like not the same as being laid off but even still it's like brother this game is coming out right now like we can't we can't make it to launch and i we can't see how this game's gonna do before you put me on this temporary leave and now i have to wonder if i'm gonna be able to come back to a job like what a toxic sort of um situation to be put in put into yeah 100 like to me a furlough is almost worse than getting laid off i really like just let me go just let me go in this limbo of do i have a job but i can't pay my bills because you know it's just bro i it's awful it just is yeah and to your point again i've only played now about an hour uh maybe a little bit uh more of star wars zero company seems like a great game i i enjoyed my first hour as somebody who's not a tactical person but wants to get into more tactical games uh it's been really easy to slip into and understand what's going on and then also a lot of cool Star Wars shit going on like the soundtrack sounds great visually it is so um it captures Star Wars so well it's a beautiful looking game and it's one I can't wait to get into it's like it's firing off the the nerdy synapses in my brain when I'm looking at certain stats and I'm like okay do I want to upgrade this thing or do I want to upgrade this thing that's going to help me work with this other party member better um it's a game that I can't wait to get back to uh and play more but really sucks to hear this news story number five double fine says it'll make brutal legend 2 if its kickstarter raises 100 million dollars this is tom phillips at ign psychonauts and costume quest maker double fine has launched its new game development kickstarter project after cutting ties with xbox and says it'll make brutal legend 2 if it raises an impossible sounding 100 million dollars double fine is crowdfunding support for its new game jam on kickstarter the platform it previously used to successfully fund Broken Age long before its recently concluded stint as an Xbox-owned studio and subsequent layoffs affecting 25 % of its team.

51:46Blessing Adeoye Jr.:With the Microsoft money pipe now severed, the maker of recent titles such as Kiln and Keeper must now fund its own experimental indie projects. And so, once again, it is holding a two-week stint of creating a series of bizarre prototypes which fans of the company can choose to vote on and support. At the time of writing, Double Fine's crowdfunding campaign has raised just over$275 ,000 of its current$400 ,000 goal, with 29 days still to go. It remains to be seen what further stretch goals will be added to the project as its progress continues. Though the company has already promised it'll develop a Brutal Legend sequel should it hit$100 million.

52:27Blessing Adeoye Jr.:And this is what I'll say. It only takes one billionaire. You know what I mean? it only takes one person with a lot of money to give uh to get his brutal legend to so never say never no no definitely never say never and it's double fine so they obviously are gonna get a lot of support from a lot of different people so it's hey be ambitious i'm actually glad that they put out that lofty goal because to your point all it takes is one all it takes All it takes is one just crazy person to be like, oh, I got the money to spend because I own a billion tech companies. Let me give you a hundred million dollars.

53:07Blessing Adeoye Jr.:You know, part of why I wanted to bring up the story was just to shout out Amnesia Fortnite 2026. I know Tim Schafer was on the show the other day talking to Greg about how they're doing this. It's really cool to see that they've already made three hundred and eighteen thousand dollars. um they're only about a bit more than eighty thousand dollars off from that four hundred thousand dollar goal and um i was scrolling through some of these game pitches and some of them are really fun and i really want at least one of these to get um get funded because like astro slam which i think is my favorite it's an intergalactic pro wrestling deck builder with tactical elements and story-driven uh branching paths and i love these because you click into the videos it's very basic um looking design documents for what the pitch is going to be um but like i i love seeing how wild and creative and weird these pitches are because it brings you back to why we love double fine it's because they have ideas like this that you're not going to hear anywhere else no absolutely i love that you know the fans can interact with this and and vote on it as well for their favorite.

54:14So yeah, I, I love this, love this concept.

54:17Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Really like it. Let's move on to story. Number six, EA breaks its silence after Iron Man gameplay leak. This is Vicki Blake at Eurogamer. EA has broken its silence on the leaked Iron Man footage that surfaced yesterday, admitting quote, well, that didn't go as planned. End quote. The footage, as we reported yesterday, showed roughly two and a half minutes of gameplay circulating via reset error, apparently taken from an August 26th test build. now acknowledging the leak EA added quote but now you know and we've got a lot more to show you see you when we're ready end quote yesterday's leak as birdie explains gives a real sense of freedom and speed as you fly around what appears to be an open world city space and battlefields quote descending to on foot combat and back into aerial combat in a fraction of a second Paris when do you think they're going to be ready to show us

55:11um sooner rather than later i think maybe possibly i really hope so i want to see this game um yeah yeah i i do too it's again gamescom because it's just funny how you know things happen so you heard a lot of people like oh crap it leaked and like the buzz was so positive and a lot of people were like yes this is how you handle a leak just rip the band-aid off acknowledge it yeah yeah them ripping the band-aid off also makes me think that

55:36Blessing Adeoye Jr.:is going to be sooner rather than later. And now that I'm thinking about it, the fact that we talked about state of play earlier, I wonder if state of play, we could see an Iron Man trailer. I think that'd be a pretty cool thing. Agreed. Let's close out with story number seven, which is going to be some big news that I'm converting into small news. If I wanted the tiniest news pairs, where should I go? You'd go to our last story, the Wii News channel, where we cover all the small news items you need to know about story number seven which is big news that i'm demoting to small news sony reveals live tv on ps5 free with ads starting today um i'm sure y 'all heard about this the other day because this is like a little bit older news remember we skipped a day yesterday so we could review games but if you have a ps5 you can watch tv so that's cool i guess um it reminds me of samsung tv plus which is a thing that i used quite a bit early pandemic and sometimes will bust out every now and then um and so you know this will be i guess neat to have on the living room tv if i want to just put something on more we knew oh sorry i just i was just gonna say i i had to laugh when i saw this yesterday maybe don metric was right all along it was just 13 years too early too early the people yearn for tv i guess yeah it's so funny because i saw everybody groaned at this online when they announced this everybody's like why um and part of me is here's my thing right i'm like it doesn't affect me i can just ignore this if i'm not going to use it and then also if i if i want to just put tv on my tv i guess now i have an option but it is such a random left turn of a feature where it's like what conversations are you have are y 'all having over there to lead us to live tv i want to know what metric what customer data they're looking at to make them go ah this is worth pursuing putting live tv on playstation 5 but go get them i guess um more we news for you this is an exciting one pokemon wild card an all-new animated film featuring a pokemon tcg player and mimic you has gotten its first teaser and poster paris this is one that was premiered during pokemon worlds or revealed during pokemon worlds when i tell you i think this is so neat um for me as somebody who grew up with pokemon anime but then also at the same time grew up with yugioh the idea of a pokemon trading card game like animated thing appeals to the child in me in such a strong way and i this teaser trailer they showed looked really really cool i know it's a big deal because one of my kids texted me about it i was like oh okay so even you're locked in on this so yeah this is a big deal yeah and it's starring mimic you which i i love i i love that you know between all the varieties of pokemon they got over there any any pokemon can be a star of its own thing like Like there's another trailer they showed for Sirfetch'd and chat completed for me.

58:45Blessing Adeoye Jr.:I forget the other Pokemon, but it's a Farfetch'd thing, a Farfetch'd cartoon, which I'm like, man, the fact that Farfetch'd is starring. Is it Pichu? Is it Sirfetch'd and Pichu? Okay, it is. Such a random ass like pairing of Pokemon. But again, it's the power that they have in that IP where you can pluck any Pokemon out of a lineup and go, you're a star now. And people will show up for it. More We News for you. Housemarque co-founder Ilari Koutanen is leaving the company after 31 years. No Rest for the Wicked 1.0 release has been delayed to March 2027. The cinematic shoot for Intergalactic is wrapped.

59:27Blessing Adeoye Jr.:This comes from a post from Naughty Dog on Instagram. They say, see you, Space Cowboy. This is a wrap on the very ambitious Intergalactic cinematic shoot. This cast killed it. cannot wait to show you their incredible work when the time is right so maybe maybe we do see it sooner than yeah and that's kind of what's going in my thinking i could see a year from now the game is out if they're done with all that shooting but we'll obviously see somebody says wait is blessed talking shit about farfetch'd i am not i like farfetch'd i just think it's impressive that pokemon can pick anything like i can say i can list a random pokemon right now fucking metapod i bet you somebody out there has has a genius idea for a metapod cartoon that could work like that's what i'm saying is that the power of pokemon is insane um from polygon fable will officially be 20 hours long xbox confirms in a new interview we talked about that a little bit earlier uh paris i think that sits well with both of us yeah yeah yeah totally metaphor re-fantasio launches november 12th on switch 2 uh we got some games game pass games coming in september On the third, you're getting Speedrunners 2, King of Speed.

1:00:38Blessing Adeoye Jr.:On the fourth, you're getting Dice a Million. On the eighth, Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War. On the 10th, the Royal Rit and Virtual Fighter V Revo World Stage. 1:01:15Blessing Adeoye Jr.:And finally, Milky Delivery, a charming delivery adventure with hand-drawn visuals, is releasing on November 17th for Steam. And that is it for Wii News. Before we get out of here, let me take another look at Super Chats to see what y 'all are talking about. claw master writes in with non we news shout out to kofi and austin creed debuting on aw this past weekend also seeing kenny omega walking out to my hero academia theme with the japanese all my vo his his promo had me marking out oh yeah super congratulations to kofi and austin creed that's really really cool news yeah what next level now is what they're called aw yeah i was so happy to see that i love it um solo andre says god of war ragnarok collector's edition were unveiled four months before the game released hoping for laofay editions at state of play the new level next level it's new level it's a new level yeah which i like that name a lot i think that i think that works for them bam says bless tim should have won because stars in the bank should have been three stars like how greg won when he cashed in well bam i make the rules and stars in the bank was always one star, I got tricked in that season where I had to make it three stars because Carl tricked me.

1:02:32Blessing Adeoye Jr.:And so, no, Tim shouldn't have won because Tim should have done any better in yesterday's episode. If he did even a little bit better in yesterday's episode, Tim would have won the season. I need y 'all to re-watch. I know y 'all watched the episode. Go back and re-watch the episode because there's no reason Greg should have did what Greg did. it's ridiculous. And you get to the end of the episode. The fact that not all Greg wins, nobody's happy about it. Andy's mad because Andy fucked up. Tim's mad because he blew an eight, three lead. I'm mad because how did they get, let that happen? You know what I mean?

1:03:13Blessing Adeoye Jr.:The show is sacred and Greg figured out a way to fuck it all and win. And now we have to deal with another, however long of parades that's going to happen. Tim got divorced. And for what? let's bring in another super chat um the portland kevin says there's a champion among us that's good i like that um a humble psyduck says let's see tabbed out of liza p for greg um cletus handwater says all hail the rightful champion greg you overcame so much adversity to take home the crown for a fourth straight time you dropped this king and he gives a crown emoji science dog official says for the champ Ziggy Tor says give me Okami 2 for the Japanese state of play please I like that and then we'll do I'll give you one more from Dave Bro who says Team Asobi announces next Astro Bot game from the words of a wise man give us our fucking game that is Ben Miller hell yeah let's move over to you're wrong where you write in let us know what we got wrong as we got it wrong so you can correct it for those watching later on YouTube and listening later on podcast services around the globe if it ever loads because this thing is loading slow it might be broken i don't know if i don't know what's going on here now i'm loading it in two different tabs okay we're probably gonna have to skip you're wrong because you're wrong is not loading sorry everybody paris thank you so much for joining me on this episode man no no thank you for having me as always hell yeah oh it loaded okay no we got you're wrong for you we got you're wrong um avatar on it says miss bit of we news the avatar fighting game shadow dropped the xbox version yesterday and still hasn't been announced we've been playing it online with our xbox friends and it's working oh there you go i think that's supposed to come out in a few days and so if you're waiting on xbox boom go play some avatar um and then kebabs that's not you're wrong and that is it for you're wrong um paris do you have anything going on that people should check out uh unfortunately well no nothing i can talk about no i don't i i have real life stuff i'm i'm gonna be in the great state of kentucky all next week so oh the review apocalypse that's happening right now unfortunately i'm gonna miss out on a lot of it because i'm just not gonna be available but uh then i got something after i can't talk about oh something after that you can't talk about i'm really excited to hear about what that is of course right after kind of funny games daily we have a games cast and if i'm correct i believe this is going to be our orbitals review i'm looking at the camera right now and it looks like i'm right it is our orbitals review uh or no it's not it's not our orbitals review it is they went to pokemon worlds they're going to talk about pokemon worlds and then we got the do we even i'm sure eventually we do an overalls review i assume all rules reviews are out they'll do it at some point uh and then you got a gameplay stream with mike um wait no bless i think you have them mixed up right do i have rules review next and then pokemon worlds right is the is the is our is our google calendar different from i'm looking at the google calendar oh i i only look at the content sheet oh okay then we do if it's our if it says that on our content sheet then it is and our thumbnail is that so i hope oh okay then it is our port orbitals review all right yeah I don't know how that happens but there you go orbitals and then at some point they'll talk about Pokemon World I imagine a kind of funny podcast either way until next time Game Daily
