So I'm here for the Pokemon World Championships and Pokemon XP, which are here in San Francisco. For what reason, I'm not sure, but I'll be there. This is where the world's biggest Pokemon fan lives, Greg Miller. I'm the new voice of a generation.

3:02So they were like, we got to come here and do this. It's been great so far. What Pokemon in the national decks is 149? That's all Lucha, baby. Oh, yeah. I was so close. only like 600 away so for pokemon worlds i'm excited to go take ben of course last year you and i had a dynamite time with ben and jan of course down in anaheim but for people who don't know what does pokemon worlds look like for you especially as a journalist so for me it's a lot of back-to-back like panels and interviews and just taking the temperature of the room it's a little bit different this year because they have pokemon xp which is their kind of comic-con equivalent it's a bit of a it's a fan convention alongside the serious world championships because these boys and girls that were playing for the world championships playing for real money and i can understand why they would maybe get frustrated why yahoo's like i was running about going oh i need to go and take a picture with it so they've separated that into a more kind of this is a serious thing if you want to go and watch the tcg or the vgc which is confusing the video game championships, go here.

4:08But if you want to meet Pikachu and go to panels with Mr. Ishihara, go to Pokemon XP. But you can't because it's sold out immediately. So this is not an advertisement. There's nothing to say. They have done a lot of merchandise that is very similar to a lot of the stuff you guys have done for kind of funny, like the bridges and all that kind of stuff. So bad scene when I, but yeah, the skate, the skateboards done by bear Walker are fantastic, but are you actually going to use those? Cause those are like very nice and decorative. I think it'll be a decorative one Yeah, you hang that one up But it's like, again, I just roll Remember, I just roll, but I will just hang it But I just roll, but maybe I won't, I will hang it, but it looks awesome I gotta be a part of that, you know what I mean?

5:16I don't take back a skateboard, I don't have room in the old carry-on, but there's a Charizard statue that, I mean, that comes home with me Is Laura gonna complain? It's like you guys go live at like six o 'clock my time. Yeah. It's all good.

11:11Baker's dozen I also want to apologize to Barrett I went into the Patreon producers earlier so we had the rave lights on way too early man I was like oh man I did that I'm like I don't know there's a way to get out of that I could but it was like I don't know where you're going to go over to it so I'm just going to keep it here fair enough man you killed it i thought you guys had a full-ass conversation it was great nobody noticed number one the witcher 4 confirmed for 2028 release an official cd project gamescom 2026 announcement this is the one the only wyp at ign the witcher 4 is targeting a 2028 release window cd project has confirmed the announcement comes after a special video message from the joint executive officer cd project red uh assuming cd project red hit i'm sorry i keep adding they're doing the red to non-red red to non-red assuming cd project hits its 2028 for the witcher four and the company sticks to its ambitious strategy uh release strategy for this new witcher trilogy we could see the witcher 5 in 2031 and the witcher 6 in 2034 those are fake years to be here talking about 2031 and 2034 those are fake fucking years to talk about video games i I wonder what this building will be at that point.

12:27Slaughterhouse, probably. We'll still be here. We'll be sharing the space or whatever. The Joint Chief Executive said CD Projekt will show off the Witcher 3 Wild Hunt expansion songs of the past at Gamescom this week, including, quote, a taste of its dark story and the new content. Elsewhere, he confirmed the Witcher 4 will not be at Gamescom 2026. Quote, our team here at CD Projekt Red HQ is hard at work on a brand new saga, one with Siri at the helm. we have more than 500 incredibly talented developers working to create something truly special for you the witcher 4 features a huge and immersive open world intense and action-packed gameplay and a deep impactful story that we hope will stay with you for a long time simply put this is our biggest boldest and most ambitious game to date now i know you're eager to learn what's coming that's the question we're hearing from you all the time so while we're not showing the Witcher 4 at this event, and we're not ready to share an exact date, I can tell you this.

13:24The Witcher 4 is targeting a 2028 release window. I know it's a bit of a wait, and you'd love to play it sooner, but let the team cook. It will be worth the wait. Until then, there will be plenty more of the Witcher to come, including Songs of the Past when it launches in 2027, and you can be sure Gamescom is also in our plans for the coming years. Go be quiet about this. You can't talk about this game again. for years at this point. I understand why they do this, right? And I understand why they did the thing last June or whatever where they showed the graphics and everyone's like, oh my God, look at these graphics, man.

13:59But they seriously have to be silent about this. And having the Witcher 3 expansion to talk about will fill a lot of that airtime and that's good. I'm glad that they're doing that. But the last time they tried to land this plane, little game you might remember, Cyberpunk. I do. I especially remember the launch of Cyberpunk. It's pretty class to be fair. And I think they're very aware of that. So it surprises me when they stick their toe out here. But maybe this is the excuse. This is the, oh, we told you when The Witcher 4 is coming. We'll talk about the game when we're ready to talk about the game.

14:30It's coming in 2028. It's probably not. But, you know, I hope it's good, man. I think it probably will be. I think that The Witcher 3, obviously, like generational RPG and is still inspiring so much. Like you can tell that after The Witcher 3, all developers that were making RPGs just got into big conference rooms. and we're like, okay, we have to steal this. We have to do this and steal this and steal this. And we're in the back end of that. I think that will quiet down. And then when The Witcher 4 comes back, it'll be like, okay, this is the next step. But I feel like you're on the train of just talk to me when it's like six months away.

15:03Yeah, yeah. But you know how this is. You know how this game goes. You got to be out there. You got to be talking. It is, I mean, the fact that they've, CD Projekt Red in general, CD Projekt in general, God, I hate it, has been, very open lately right in a different way post cyberpunk where i really do think they've talked about all these witcher projects and remakes and what they're doing in the different teams and where they are in development pre-pro yada yada yada so it's like this isn't out of the realm of oh my god i'm so surprised it is getting in front of it saying 2028 okay like do i believe that no and not because they're liars but because video games are constantly slipping and constantly changing where we're actually going to show up and i think like your point is if you're going to come out and show this tech demo yeah you're going to show a siri walking through and getting this vibe of what the game is going to be that does set expectations that you're further along maybe than you are especially because this video will be used as a as a stick to beat them with the first time they show what they are calling the real version of what you're for yeah look at these little fat guys standing there they aren't as fat in the real game um so i fully expect that and also to me 2028 it's like yeah well it's 2027 and like a couple of months time 2020 doesn't sound ridiculous yeah so that's why i had to double take the witcher 5 in 2031 which are 6 in 2034 that's where i think you're fucking crazy yeah that's where you're fucking crazy to start talking about that far out and like giving dates in general to be like we're working on you know this the new trilogy and you'll see which are five surely after that sometime after 2030 i would stop talking there yeah i wouldn't be sitting out here going the witcher 5 is going to drop when my son turns 10 years old which is an insane statement to fucking say right now i wish him well i hope they nail it i hope they're able to do that but again when you say this kind of thing too this is like not the best of both worlds not cake and eat it too situation but we do have that conversation all the time here of like gta 3 vice city yeah san andreas banger after banger after banger year after you know i mean like we were just rolling here whereas now gta gestates for more than a decade multiple consoles what's going on with gta uh gta 6 hasn't come out yet i know the leaks have made you think it's out a lot but what leaks there's a big netflix thing happening this week oh really yeah we'll be fucking running around a pikachu hat you won't even know about it uh but it's that idea of like to sit here then and be like ambitious enough to say which are for 2028 which are 5 2031 which are 6 in 2034 that's when you go that can't be fucking real yeah that can't fucking happen because like especially for the company cd project is of wanting to iterate on what they're doing and learn from mistakes and really i mean dial in i mean the amount of time between witcher 2 and witcher 3 if this was um the glory days and we had a whiteboard here and we put every single game that they're apparently making and presumed sequels to that it would be like one game every two years i am lost yeah so they're remaking is it both of them or they just won they're they've announced they're remaking the first witcher okay um they're also doing new cyberpunk they're doing another game in the cyberpunk world that's also like a triple a kind of thing but also they're doing three witcher games and got this what's your three expansion and i don't know people can connect me in the chat and i will ignore them but i don't know if this is a situation where they are totally siloed when it's like you are johnny witcher you're johnny cyberpunk and never the twain shall meet because surely when when one game's running up to the finish line that has to converge and that will just throw things down the line look, God bless them, I think whoever wrote this script for this PR, and they were putting Witcher 6 in it, they were probably laughing at that but you know, there's a document yeah, there's a bullet point outline of where we think we're going there is as much Witcher 6 as there is Elder Scrolls 6 so I wouldn't worry about it, you'll get it any day but yeah, I think in the run up to Witcher 4 you've got the momentum people are excited to see it it's been long enough where there's been a long time since witcher 3 and cyberpunk has had this like metamorphosis the hearts and minds has changed the comeback story when the game is coming back when witcher 4 is coming out there will be people who didn't see that comeback story and just remember the the first bad impression and they'll have to turn that around some way you think so casuals that because remember how much cyberpunk sold those people don't watch games media or probably don't even know that it got updated see that'd be my thing those people those people who i think are few and far between i don't think they're the same people like oh i bought it on playstation playstation made it like that's right i don't know if that does the brand matter yeah i suppose well if they advertise it's like from the makers of witcher and nothing else um but yeah i i think that i have confidence in cd project i think they'll put out an amazing game i just hope that we can have that celebration of the amazing game sgf well i suppose sgf like 2028 or whatever that's jeff's big closing game they come out here's an hour of it we're going to play it the next couple of days and at that point they go yeah that's a 2029 game but i like it when there's a period of silence where there's no questions because we know what they're making we know when they think about it it's coming out we've got a little bit of graphics which won't be representative but whatever and then it can come back as that's big oh shit this is the witcher this is the time to do it so do you think this would be my next question for you because obviously i love cd project games as well do you think the speed at which they're moving and i'm not talking about five and six but just for four off of cyberpunk off of the witcher 3 are they able to live up to the expectations i think we already are putting on them of like oh well this is going to redefine rpgs again i mean probably not but has has there ever been a company that like set that bar and also hit it the second time around even if the second game i mean we're about to find out in november right that's my thing with gta 6 oh gta 6 comes out november okay okay unless you know something i don't know i'm scottish um it wasn't me by the way for the love god it wasn't me are you leaks i'm the people going to their door going oh excuse me i'm from rockstar games i'm i'm presenting rockstar i hear you've got a discord account it's nothing to do with me um that is the thing that is the i suppose they've done a few times where like red dead two unbelievable game it's still the game that morons on twitter use to compare to every other game it's like oh well the meat cutting in this game isn't quite as good as red dead redemption 2 but i i never really want to put that expectation on a dev because i think it's it's unfair and it immediately makes it um the game has to be transformative when it can just be really really good yeah and like um kind of build upon what they've done rather than be like let's throw everything out that made this original game great and that's a quick way to piss off your audience and it's not an audience.

21:48Well, I mean, you know, to jump in conversations to a degree, right? I think it's one of the reasons Andy came in so hot after his preview of Blood of the Dawnwalker. Got the name right. Right. It was like, oh, this feels like it's from former Witcher devs. It feels like the Witcher. Let's go. It doesn't. And that's why I'm excited. I just want choice consequence and being a vampire. OK, I felt the exact same way. And my feature, I started right like, oh, it's their first game. And then I scrubbed that and I was like, this isn't their first game by any stretch of the imagination. Like this feels like a game from an experienced team because it is a game from an experienced team.

22:17It just happens to be a debut under this label. So that's also an interesting point. How much of that team has left since The Witcher 3? How many people have moved on? The answer is a hell of a lot of them. So obviously there is the kind of teaching culture of all these developers. The juniors move up through the ranks. You look at the people who are making Intergalactic and what they did on Last of Us 1. It's absolutely crazy. So yeah, it's exciting to see. we will run into the usual nonsense as we get closer because Sari is the main character. The Woktcher. I don't know if that's been out yet, but that's a pretty good one.

22:51I like that actually. Yeah, yeah, yeah. The Woktcher. I got to get a really close up of her face and see how many fuzzies she has on her face. That's the make or break for me in any way. Barry, get that up, please. On the screen, please. But yeah, I think to bring it right back around, good on them for getting out here and being like, it's not going to be part of Gamescom. 23:20For the expansion, which we are kind of glossing over, of course, dropping tomorrow in terms of footage for it at Opening Night Live. Of course, we'll be live reacting to it. Like, a DLC this late after The Witcher 3 how expansive do you think it's going to look great i think you know there's always this undercurrent when we talk about the witcher of like man what a defining game the combat wasn't good then and it doesn't hold up now they did to be fair they did a lot to it when it came to ps5 and all that kind of stuff i think it's going to be way bigger than people are expecting and i think it's going to be a real okay now we remember why we love this franchise that's going to be something you can chew on for the next little while we'll tie it into what you're for got it here we go Thank you.

25:01It's also almost certainly a huge thrill for people that joined Siddha Project because of The Witcher to be like, I'm getting to make a Witcher 3 thing right at the end. But yeah, I'm expecting something pretty major. I don't think it will deviate too much because you can only change the tires so much in what is this original game, unless it drops tomorrow and people, and it's like, we've actually been doing this for way longer than we said, and it's hugely different, but it's Geralt's swan song as the protagonist. and i feel like they want to send off with something that's super memorable as we transition into like the city you know where she is the main kind of she's the face of witcher for the next 45 years or whatever ben's son will be playing when ben's 10 will he be allowed to play a witcher game do you think oh yeah i imagine so yeah i don't see why i wouldn't let him do that you know what i mean like i think he's already so advanced in his game playing stuff and in terms of the materials we watched guardians of the galaxy for the first time nice and loved it had a great time there uh yeah i don't see why there'd be an issue you know he curses like a sailor i was giving the middle finger finger you know when we went to disney last year it was like ben this is i have his place on earth he can't be giving it the double birds on the cars right i got a fire in my chest remember that one of my favorite memories he called he went on the cars ride for the first time and he climbed off his first big boy ride and he climbed off and he was just like so energized and jen and me got jen got down on her knees and they were like did you like it he's like there's a fire in my chair like yeah that's the excitement slash fear yeah that's how that happens yeah yeah nerdy papa g says ben doing the sex scenes at 10 is wild we're not gonna hide it from yeah you know what i mean we're not gonna i don't know what you know this this is an american thing i'll fucking give everybody a gun and let them shoot each other nobody cares talk about a fucking sex that's a problem you know what i mean ben's gonna know about sex yeah he's gonna see a lot of sex thank how amazing that internet's gonna be by that point like jesus hopefully it's He's going to eyes roll back in his head.

26:53The entire knowledge of the universe is going to be on his brain, so I wouldn't worry about it. I was playing San Andreas at like nine. My mom didn't love it. She made me just drive around, and any time a cutscene started, I had to mute it because there was a lot of F 'ing and Jeffing, a lot of swear words, a lot of bad stuff. But then I was allowed to drive around and listen to it. Yeah, I'll be, God, I will be fucking so happy if at 10 Ben's interested in The Witcher. You know what I mean? Because it is still that thing like, you know, I'm playing games all the time around him, and often I'm playing big nerdy RPGs.

33:55we aren't just talking about hd collections either as it seems konami is planning to reboot major ips with highlights being metal gear castlevania and suikoden in a recent interview with nikai gaming konami digital entertainment's president spoke about their upcoming pipeline which includes the newly announced castlevania belmont's curse and rev noir slated to release in the coming months but what's catching many eyes is the comment about other franchises Metal Gear, Castlevania, Suikoden, and Silent Hill. Quote, we have a variety of titles in the pipeline, including the soccer game, eFootball, baseball franchises such as eBaseball, Pro Spirits, and Powerful Pro Baseball.

Another key title is Rev Noir, a completely new IP announced in February. it's an RPG game consoles it's an RPG for console it's an RPG for game consoles that we plan to release globally we have high expectations that players around the world will be very excited about it here's the important part interesting quote reboots of existing IPs such as Metal Gear, Silent Hill, Castlevania and Suikoden are important initiatives that serve as pillars for our business at the same time we have a strong desire at Konami to create entirely new genres and works end quotes Whether he's referring to Metal Gear Solid Delta as a reboot is not entirely clear, but at the very least, it reinforces that Konami is not done with Metal Gear, along with other mentioned franchise, Silent Hill, of course, Saw Silent Hill F and soon Townfall, which are pretty much revivals of the series.
