Key claims

  1. Xbox “Disk to Digital” lets players digitize supported physical discs by inserting them into Xbox One/Series X, creating a digital entitlement tied to the disc and transferable between accounts.
  2. Microsoft will test with Xbox Insiders starting Aug 31, broader rollout in coming months; publishers control which titles are supported initially (“thousands”).
  3. Rockstar calls the GTA 6 leaks “heartbreaking” and warns spoilers may affect the intended experience while reiterating the Nov 19 launch date.

Notable examples

  • Game sharing/loaning: Paris (CDPR booth) reports disc rights transfer to a friend and revert when returned.
  • Xbox 25th anniversary Series X: translucent green console costs $900, releases Nov 13, includes Halo Campaign Evolved; controller sold separately for $80 (Oct 20).
  • GTA 6 leaks: Rockstar’s statement promises an extended look “tomorrow.”

2:39If it wasn't clear, it was me, Andy. I have Star Wars Zero Company on Fantasy Critic. How many points? I don't know. 87? They seem really good, though. Last I saw was at 87, which gets me 17 points. If you're over 85 Sitting pretty You're sitting real pretty And I snuck in there I forgot I bought it for like what 35 cents or something like that It was like nothing Is that the one that you failed to try to get Retribution It happened Man if only I remembered You said it out loud like I fucked that up Nobody go get it And then I was like I'm going to get it Because how much money do you have left Andy Probably like$90 or something Really?

3:22Nah, I have like 70 or 60, something like that. So you're more than making moves? I think most than us. I gotta make moves. Because... You gotta drop Mariachi. I already did. Ooh, okay. Mariachi Legends. Delayed. Until 2027. Good. And, you know... I got a couple of heaters. Aside from that, I'm fucked. Because Witchbrook is not coming out. I just gotta accept that. Eternal Life of Walter Schmitty not coming out either. So weird. Like... It's just a disaster right now. Like, why'd they say it at that Nintendo Direct that wasn't that long ago? Was GTA already known? Yeah. We've known about GTA since the beginning of the year.

4:02You could create your own Oppenheim. Barbenheimer is a thing. You could be GTA and Walter Smitty. Like, the month of GTA and fucking Goldberg or whatever. Yeah, dude. I like that. That could work. I just hate that. Yeah, I just... It was looking really promising there for a while. Yeah. I think once Mortal Shell got me 85, I was like, wow. All right. Nice. This is really, really. We're on the up and up. I'm still holding out. Since then, it's been a disaster. For Kena 2. You know? There's never, like I said yesterday, there's never been a game more delayed in the history of gaming than Kena 2.

4:38Yeah. Tides of Annihilation. They didn't say anything about Dave, did they? No. They didn't say anything about a year? They didn't say a year either. They didn't say anything, so it could be this year. Okay. Okay, buddy. They're not saying it's not. You're right. We still have Game Awards. You're right. Shadow job. Shadow job. Shadow job Game Awards. And there's going to be so many reviewers to play it. So many. To get it on the score. Oh, man. What's up, everybody? Welcome to Kind of Funny Games Daily for Wednesday, August 26, 2026. Of course, I'm your host, Tim Geddes. I'm joined today by the Nitro Rifle, Andy Cortez, in an incredibly lime green jacket.

5:15Hello. Yes, I wanted to go with the Splatoon color. Oh, I like that. I got a phone call last night from Jeff Grubb. Someone trying to buy a PS5. No. Stop freaking calling, please. No, it was from Jeff Grubb. Him and Minotti were on last in the Nintendogs. And they just, I answered the phone and they go, was it a real neon sign? It's a real neon sign. And I'm just like, what are you talking about? I had no idea what they were talking about. And it hit, I was like, oh, oh, of course, yes. Mike's neon sign. and they didn't they were just catching up on the lore they didn't they just heard about it somebody super chatted informing them about the sign so i had to inform them about like where that was all at i told them about the hernia you know multiple yeah that was the whole thing and then they come in threes unfortunately exactly and i went back and i listened to get the context of like what led into me being called like why me why not just call mike or whatever and of course it's because everyone's talking about me being divorced oh right then i have all them guys what i do appreciate is that both minati and grub are like this isn't real greg's doing something yeah they know what i mean and i just love that like that things that serious are still not serious when is when greg is involved when he is the nexus point of all this well i mean you know the audience will have to look forward to that kind of funny podcast thumbnail that says you know the divorce like I don't even know what it's going to be there's just too much too much going on I did see a funny reddit thread today of somebody saying that this is my excuse to do the Getty's wedding remake oh shit remaster which is like oh shit dude there was some really funny ideas in there just like everything is the same but some things are kind of different I love that You know what I mean?

7:06Little whispers. It's like the rumors of the Endgame Encore movie. Yeah. They're replacing Cassie. Big kid. Big kid? They're replacing her with apparently. We'll see. We'll see. I will say those rumors are like as rumor as you can get. Yeah. Because none of them add up to like what's been officially announced of like there is four minutes of different footage in this movie. I don't think they're going to use up some of that footage for Cassie Lang. Big kid. It's a big cameo. Maybe. Who knows? uh Andy how are you I'm doing I'm doing great man yeah yeah many games out it sucks because there's so many games right now that we're playing we can't talk about but the good news is there's so many games coming out that we can as I started making the thumbnail for the you know every game out in September it only really then occurred to me just how little of other games I'm going to be able to play as i'm going down the list on overworld.vg or on like games calendar and game spot and all that game informers calendar it's like oh my god i've completely forgot orbitals was the same day as don walker yeah i just don't think i'm gonna and orbitals requires two people's time there's just no time for that there there really is there's no availability there yeah so there will be some omissions i would say on the top 10 when we hit the end of the year but see that's the thing is i look at this overall as a good thing the only fear i have is there's there's two problems i see one is i don't want these games to step on each other and hurt each other's sales because i want a vibrant industry i want you know as much as possible for enough money to be made that they're able to continue making games and new IP and the reboots and the sequels and the remakes and all the things that they want to do you know and I hope that we were not seeing Titanfall 2 situations because then guess what we haven't seen Titanfall since right right on the other side of that the only con is of course when you're invested and ingrained in this world you want to play it all quote-unquote some people literally do want to play at all.

9:17Some people just like, even people like me that I'm like, I know that there's a ton of these games that are exciting, but they're just not exciting for me. I'm still like, fuck, there's too many games. Like, there's making these choices, and even if there are games that I'm like, I mean, I'm more interested in The Witcher than I've ever been. Andy, I'll say that. You know? But it's like, oh, there's not a chance in hell I'm playing The Witcher now. You know what I mean? It's just so cool. It's just like, there's just too much stuff, and I think that it's good, though, because When you're in the shower, just watch my playthrough.

9:44Okay. Yeah. Yeah. there's a great moment where you know there's an NPC that you could recruit her or if you piss her off she might say I'm out later right and there's a lot of people that were watching my play they're like I didn't even what she could leave I just assumed she would always just join the squad or whatever well Later on There's a There's a mass Like We're going after All of these Witches Witches get stitches Tim We're going after all of them You better get the fuck out of the city If you're here You're dead We get word about This character She's She got got Tim Oh no And she's like close to a lot of NPCs That I know And like obviously you know maybe her and i had sex who knows who knows tim and they put her body up oh in the center square i don't like that with other witches to show everybody this is what happens to you what happens to you you know which gets stitches and me and my crew they're like we have to go recover this body we we have to give her a proper burial this is so disrespectful like fuck this You know, everybody's disgusted with this.

11:13She may have disagreed with you at one point, but she doesn't deserve this, you know? And we go, I'm in the center square, and like, she's all bloodied up, and it's bad, Tim, it's bad. And Geralt's walking up, and then it starts to rain, and Geralt just looks up, and he goes, hmm, looks like rain. And it's just one of those, where the game didn't really understand the situation. and it's just like that's you know kind of like deep and moving you know what I mean what does the rain represent Andy the darkness coming into his life is he trying to point that out because he's crying but he's trying to look like a big tough man so he's just letting everyone know hey these drops on my face it might be the rain he's just talking to the dead bodies like Full Metal Alchemist where he says it's a terrible day for rain looks like we got a storm on the way huh like he's just talking weather so good man god i loved it the game is just so unbelievably good and i cannot wait for this remaster man yeah but i can't wait to replay it it's just again what a time man because on top of that we got don don blood the blood of the don walker coming the blood of don walker no no triple down on the those the blood of don walker are you fucking with me no the blood of don walker No, fuck you.

12:32There's two thes. The blood of Don Walker. Don Walker. Google it. I just say use both Tims because then you're never wrong. Fuck, really? Donald Walker, yeah. I don't like how much people fuck with me, man. I don't know who it was. It might have been Bless. Bless, if it was you, shame on you. Someone convinced me it was the blood of the Don Walker. Two thes. Don't drop them. Oh, also, fuck Greg. Period. Fuck Greg for acting like it was a wishy-washy, who knows how I felt about this no-law game. I went back and watched that clip, and it is the most clear-as-day him going, that's bad, that's bad, that game looks bad.

13:13It is the most clear-as-day, not even a, I don't know if I was talking about what Mike was talking about. No, no, no, it is so obvious. My laptop had died, I think, around that point. Yeah. When he was, like, trying to, later he brought it up and defended it and stuff. Yeah. But if it wasn't, I was like, the way Greg's talking right now, I don't believe him. Yeah. Like he is totally projected. He did this. Like I'm kind of guilty, but also Mike was talking about stuff. So I don't know if I was talking about what Mike was. No, no. It was very, very obvious. I get the clip for Barrett. Don't worry about it.

13:42We have the proof and it is like, I need to see it. The world needs to see it. It's the most clear cut, like not even, you know, a question of what he was debating. So get out of my face with that. Okay. And out of his freaking face. Get out of my face. And while he does that, everybody, of course, where am I? We still have so much intro to do. If you're watching live, be part of the show by super chatting on YouTube.com slash kind of funny games. We couldn't do this without our producers on Patreon.com slash kind of funny. So shout out to Carl Jacobs, Omega Buster, Delaney the Slam Twining, and Lax Nomad.

14:11But now let's begin with what is and forever will be the Roper Report. It's time for some news. It's time for some news. We have six stories today. Why did you say it twice?

14:28I was in there and I'm like, before we get to the first story, should I start reading some super chats? And then I like darted my eyes. And when I darted it back to try to read how many stories. I became a robot. It was cool. So here we are. Story number one. Xbox announces disc to digital feature that digitizes your physical games. This comes from Tom Warren at The Verge.

14:56there we go there we go i found it sorry okay we found it tim we wonder do you want to get to that now or later um i i think this takes priority okay go for it this feels definitely way more important yep so let's just uh here we go found i i have the copy video url at the current time and i'm sending that over to assets right now and this is just uh i just i knew it i knew what was in my heart. Yeah, I do too. I always believe you over, Greg. And it was just one of those like, if you said, I like the way that looked, and I said, that looked awful, Tim. You'd be like, fuck you. You know what I mean?

15:33So that's what I felt in my heart. Like, fuck you. Here we go. That's the cyberpunk, little Batman. This looks sick. This is like the perfect double-A game. You know what it is? Robocop. That looks bad. That looks bad. It's going to be bad. We got a lot more shows. We played into the PS3 game. We put it on PS5. And he tried passing that off his own. There was cross talk. There was a lot of cross talk. There was a lot of cross talk. There was a lot of cross talk. Sure. They were talking over each other. Just like a little bit, a little bit for a second. It's the most clear-cut shit. It's just, there's a pause.

16:06And then Greg, it's bad. It's bad. It's bad. It's bad. It's bad. It looked bad. It looked bad. It's going to be bad. No one's clear-cut shit ever. Jamie Chappelle says, real fence sitter there. It's just like. That is so funny because I don't think there's ever been something more clear. You show that in court, it's over, you know what I mean? Fucking over, man. Xbox announces disc to digital feature that digitizes your physical games. This comes from Tom Warren at The Verge. Microsoft's officially announcing a new Xbox feature that will allow Xbox owners to digitize their existing physical game collections.

16:41The Disk to Digital feature, which The Verge exclusively revealed last month, is part of work that Microsoft's doing for game preservation and in preparation for the next generation of Xbox consoles. Most Xbox One and Xbox Series X disc-based games support this new feature, explains Jason Ronald, VP of NextGen at Xbox. Players can claim a digital entitlement by inserting a supported disc into an Xbox One or Xbox Series X console and launching the game. This digital entitlement is tied to the specific disc and it will move from account to account if you swap the physical game with a friend or log into a different Xbox profile and try to play a disc-based game.

17:17Microsoft will start testing this new Xbox disc-to-digital feature with Xbox Insider testers on August 31st, followed by a broader rollout to Xbox One and Series X consoles in the coming months. Is there a reason? Series S doesn't have a disc drive. That's why they're not talking about Series S. Correct. There we go. Correct. Once you have a digital version of an Xbox disc game, if supported, you'll also be able to access the game on PC through Xbox Play Anywhere or stream it to multiple devices with Xbox Cloud Gaming. Very, very cool. A leaked memo from earlier this month revealed that publishers would have control over the Xbox disc to digital, so not every game will be supported initially.

17:56Quote, we're starting with thousands of titles, thousands of disc based games, Andy. right when you hear thousands of games and if you think oh just all the digital games that exist sure but no thousands of disc-based games that's a lot um and we'll continue to add more over time says Ronald while not every title will be available at launch this is an important step toward a future where players can have greater confidence that the games they buy remain with them for years to come uh very very interesting this is awesome it's quite an undertaking it's got to be and i think a lot of this started in that sort of phil spencer era of talking about you know wanting to try to preserve at things as much as possible um because so many things get delisted and it really really stinks when they're just gone and that was the initial worry just things getting delisted you know back when the scott pilgrim thing happened or whenever any game would have a soundtrack that would get you know the license would run turtles uh turtles in time remake yeah whenever any of those games would have music license they'll run out they would get delisted and it's like oh shit that that's a possibility and that's i think that's as worse as we thought it could get and you know everybody can say that they're nostradamus but me 15 years ago never thought that they would just have the ability to be like no you don't own that game anymore you don't own that thing that you and it's not even a music licensing thing we just wanted to take it offline so now you cannot i didn't really think that that was a possibility that long ago right and now it's like this is a neat way to kind of help out the consumer to say like i'm gonna i feel secure in this purchase now this thing will be mine and make sure you do the right research and understand which games have this feature going along with it but um yeah this seems like a crazy big undertaking for their engineering team and i'm happy that there's like at least some good news to talk about xbox wise uh there's some more things here too uh paris is at gamescom right now and he actually got to talk to a picture of himself for the cd project red booth do you take a picture with the the helmet yet from uh no i don't think so that's a good point that's a good point uh oh that is that is i'm so sorry for you though yeah and you yeah Yeah, he's a project man.

20:21But Paris got to interview Jason Ronald as well and ask some questions. And so somebody asked Paris on Twitter, did you get an answer about game sharing? If we get all the benefits of digital copies, including game sharing, and we can still use the disc, then this program's fire. Paris says, yes, you can loan your Xbox disc to a friend and the digital rights will transfer to the friend's account. And when the disc is returned, it transfers back to you. So that is awesome. Very interesting. And then why does it know? It's crazy. Well, I mean, it's just like once it's in your. Yeah, so it's like, that just gets inauthenticated but technology is crazy it's fucking crazy it's crazy it's terrifying and like to the point you were making about like oh like you can rest assured you own this i'm like i still don't believe that because it's still at the end of the day it's like if you just put the disc in at their whim they can just decide well you own the disc but like a lot of these other services around it don't exist anymore if you're not you know leave your xbox off i have one that's always offline that's that's when you'll always be able to play those discs on um but then this This is just kind of doubling down on a point that I find very interesting from the initial article here from Wire 64, saying most Xbox One and Xbox Series X disc-based games support this new feature.

21:29Players can claim a digital entitlement by inserting a supported disc into one of the Xboxes, launching the game. Once the entitlement's claimed, you can experience the benefits of digital, including Play Anywhere and cloud gaming where supported, while your physical disc continues to work exactly as it always has. We're starting with thousands of titles. I already talked about all that stuff. but I on one hand it's like no shit Tim duh this is obvious but I am most impressed by the fact that it is literally just turning it into a digital version of the game like that already exists and I am interested are there examples where the games don't exist digitally I guess we don't have the list of games but there must be right because not every game is available digital right that people have discs for and if there's thousands of games I'm interested to see what that looks like but despite that that's the amazing the idea that the discs that you have the thousands of games you were getting the benefits that you expect to get from how xbox digital games have been functioning and incredible features like play anywhere and cloud gaming that have just only strengthened over the last couple years it's like this is all of the ecosystem coming together to work in a very very nice way that i never expected to see this is the type of step forward of the digital physical split that they first talked about in 2013 right like this was they weren't necessarily talking about the physical games but they were talking about the digital ecosystem of xbox and they put their foot in their mouth way more than they needed to when they announced the xbox one and we know how that all netted out right of the the direction and way they talked about all that stuff was just so anti-gamer and specifically anti-gamer at the time we want to be in your living room um but ironically i think a lot of where we're at what they're talking about here is that vision that they had but with the added i think x factor that is very important of the context of 2026 of where physical games are more importantly where physical games were and people's collections of games and what do we do for that collection how do we digitize it when inevitably we are moving towards a generation that is not disc-based right we're already seeing an xbox that has inconsistent at best disc releases i would say and uh we already know officially from playstation that started in 2028 that's they're they're not going to have anything right so this coming in at this time i think is very integral to the entire situation yeah yeah i mean it's very encouraging that you know just some just amidst all of the bad bullshit that happens that there's like at least one decent thing that can happen uh that these companies they don't gotta do that at all like you know there are other companies out there that do not give a shit about what happens you know licensing wise or whatever and it's like hey it's on you you're you're accepting the terms of agreement you know what you're getting into this seems like an a nice way for people who have all those gigantic libraries to at least give you a little bit more of a peace of mind yeah in that whenever that discless future happens in the future i still have those games that i bought digitally and now i own them um and i'd be really fascinated to see you know the amount of indie games and how uh like how etsy game covers get created and things like that like people making their own custom library covers i love that you to so much i am interested in a couple different things here because the fact that they have a solution for well why don't you just digitize your games and then take it to game stop and trade it in and then play it's like well no because then your the license gets revoked from you and it stays with the disc however they figured making that work why didn't we get there earlier yeah like was the technology not there before or like were they just not trying to incentivize that for some reason like i just i don't know like this sounds maybe this is they're just at the point now business-wise that they're like well discs are on the way out so we need we're not fighting to protect anything over there or maybe it's the other way where it's more like they're able to get away with just moving digital because that's just what's happening i think unless we know what sort of an undertaking this whole process has been that we don't really know when the decisions were made because yeah you're right this could just be something that they're like oh we can do this and you know we started this process three months ago or whatever or it could be something they've been trying to work on for years and years since the since the phil spencer regime you know yeah no no idea and then i wanted to put a poll up on uh twitch and i don't know why i can't put up a poll on youtube right now it's annoying me but i wanted to put a pull up of like is xbox cloud gaming good enough now because the last time i tried it was like a year and a half ago and it was still like it's still not it's still almost as bad as it was three years ago or whatever so i'm like i don't know where the people are with xbox cloud gaming yeah i will say xbox cloud gaming is the at this point modern cloud streaming service i have the least up-to-date experience on so i don't really have a take on it myself um i am interested in the like you know now that we have a lot of information we're still lacking things here and there but follow me down this path andy okay i'm a nitty-gritty path and then chad if you if you have an answer can maybe understand what i'm saying here the xbox series s doesn't have a disk drive so if we were to take a disk for a game that so far doesn't have a digital version that is supported you got to imagine that some of those exist right if there's thousands of games yeah you take one of those you put it into an xbox one or series x you do the physical to digital could you then go on to a Series S and download the digital version because it's tied to your account there's Xbox Play Anywhere there's all that stuff but can you get the game on your Series S that doesn't have a disk drive well wouldn't you wouldn't you already be a part of your yeah if it's part of your it's part of your library right as Paris said in a follow up tweet once the game is digital it will act like any other digital game that is in your library so I do wonder though if there's just like um like a every 30 day check or something like you have to put the disc in the console or something like that you know i don't think so though like it sounds like that's what they solved right because it sounds like just like until it's put in until it's digitized somewhere else that's the not check process but that's the like kind of whatever yeah so i i expected that i just wanted to follow that through just because like that's fucking cool man yeah any gamers out there like is it even possible to do an x i don't even know why this probably sounds like a stupid ass question can you plug in a usb external drive to a series s i don't know i've never even thought of that as a possibility right right right yeah it was a stupid question i'm pretty sure as i thought of it i was like that that's a dumb question of course you can but i was like i don't really know if i've seen anybody even do things like that so i don't really know of many people with series s's except for a homie of mine who was like we have hey man do you think gta 6 will run on a series s and i talked to this guy like once every three years so funny i was like i don't know man it should be okay maybe i don't know it should be okay maybe i don't know we have one in our living room that i haven't turned on in like a year and a half oh that's right that's right i have two um xbox one x's in my room that i haven't turned on forever one of them because i remember one of them died on me and then joey lent me hers and then that one also yeah bummer so i'm like what do i do with that hard drive just drilled right through it do i drill through the hard drive tim are you scared of i don't know what's on there i don't know what joey has on there either viva pinata true pokemon snaps i'm out uh parts view says distant digital this is the xbox one launch plan yeah it is it is and joey russle says isn't this the same as the xbox one pitch from 2013 it is comical how similar they are actually are it's just the actual disc two digital that side of it that's what we didn't ever get before um so it's just funny how time works that way really it's a while this feels like such a third party service like all of this feels like such a random company that's like we can do this thing for you you know and we're we're located next to the T-Mobile and the GameStop.

30:27You know what I mean? What up, Barrett? Really quick, Andy, you ran the poll in the Twitch chat. 68 % of people said, yes, cloud gaming is good enough now. I ran the poll in the YouTube chat. 55 % said no. Okay. And that was, I think, way more people voted in YouTube. Now, fuck the poll chat. Just type in some stuff. If you've played NVIDIA GeForce Now and Xbox Cloud Gaming, are you like hey you know xbox is kind of close now to nvidia g4 because i think g4 now is like far and away the the better one in terms of all the streaming things i've done period like g4 now and just uh self-done apollo moonlight all that stuff i don't know if you tinkered with any of that like where it's no i never reading your own uh stream those are by far the best like by far in my experience um tyler wallace says bought heroes of might and magic 3 from my ipad it got removed in 2017 from the app store 10 years since i played it on my ipad digital sucks damn um sg17 says i have over 500 physical games from the nes to ps5 i bought a retro tank 4k pro to play them on my modern tv i won't invest in a system where i don't own what i buy we need real digital rights yeah i'm so interested in in if we ever get to the digital right place i think that like that war might have been lost like at least for our generation i think maybe at some point something might change where it's like there will be one warrior i don't know but i i feel like that is a war that you know that's gotta come from that's gotta come from regulation from uh you know an administration that isn't so subservient to capital we need europe to do something and then dude for real for real yeah that's it like yeah or else like you know you're gonna hear some news about you know uh trump bought this much stock in digital things and then like that day they announced some big yeah like every other day with like palantir and shit but i mean even like taking that stuff out of the way it's like going back all the way to metallica fighting against napster dude lars is so mad everything that turned out like what happened with iTunes and just like looking at digital music and then how the ownership of digital music turned into streaming and like just where we're at it's like I just think that all the technologies and the forks that they provide make me very pessimistic on a uh a future where digital rights are something that we're happy about and I say that as somebody that like that fucking sucks like I hate how not only splintered but just bullshit so much of this stuff is and how inconvenient they even make it to use your own digital stuff because they're pushing you to do the streaming stuff like why is it that when i have my personal amazing library that i've held up for the majority of my life at this point with the highest quality files possible for my digital music library most of which i either ripped myself from cds or bought digitally and like owned a digital version or whatever why is it that when i'm using apple music a fucking service that i do love overall have to pay subscription fee every freaking month to access and uh to to use the streaming side of it but then it's like it when i it won't let me just integrate my library at the quality that they offer on their streaming stuff together it's like no no no no you can only listen to the lossless stuff on apple music i'm like i'm listening to the same fucking album don't convert my shit to some bullshit yeah fuckers yeah it sucks man but that's just what they do and it makes sense because people like me don't matter to them um hey lars how about you learn how to drum jesus christ worry less about kazan napster learn how to drum dude maybe if you learn how to drum they wouldn't have cared you know what i mean street shadow says i think there would have to be a check because it needs to know this has it needs to know this license been activated by another account aka has someone bought the disc in the event a user sold or gave it away i'm interested we'll see how that all shakes out you lost me a little bit there but give me it one more time i think there would have to be a check because it needs to know has this license been activated by another account aka has someone else bought the disc in the event a user sold or gave it away i wonder if it's like if it's just disc could it possibly be like disc centric and not like sucks it off the disc or like like does the disc know like i don't know fucking technology maybe it like a set like when you register it for digital just kind of purely guessing here maybe it registers the like disc as like a specific code or whatever that it pings on one account and then that that account is just free to play that game whenever doesn't need the disk inside what have you but the second that disk with that assigned code gets activated through a different account that code pings the system to be like oh that no longer belongs to this other original account is my understanding yeah that checks out uh young ray charles says i actually love xbox cloud for playing a campaign like call of duty or any other game that i don't care for that says my biggest w from distant digital is revitalizing xbox one games i bought a decade ago and playing them on my modern pc yeah that's the other thing right like that's because of play anywhere yeah where it's like all of a sudden now all these xbox games are on pc and you know with the other initiatives they're doing of the backwards compatibility stuff of like the og xbox games coming and those uh being kind of more heavily focused on for pc versions like that's crazy man like that is very cool that a majority of the entire xbox catalog will be available with these up-to-date features of xbox it'll never be everything but like a majority that's cool do you see yourself doing anything with this just to tinker and my problem eddie is just i'm so out of the xbox ecosystem they do so much that i'm all about that i wish other people were doing but just at the end of the day this isn't fucking console war shit this isn't any of that it's just the things I care about the most personally Tim Gettys I'm just like fuck the PlayStation just gives me it better like I care about the haptics of the controller so much more than I care than I care about some of these other things and it's like it's the immersion and that's because I fucking have a home theater that has shaking chairs and fucking like it adds so much to me and also the PlayStation's 3D audio sound sounds way better than Xbox to me and it's like I have A.B.

37:11tested the hell out of that. And I'm saying this as well on my PlayStation compared to my beast-ass PC. Getting the settings right on PC, sure, it looks a little bit better. It sounds worse, and the sound matters a lot to me. So it's like there's just all these dumb little things that, like, I just wish PlayStation had to play anywhere. Can't believe you do Master Chief like that. That's crazy. Yeah, I did. He's watching this stream and just being like, fucking. Yeah. God damn it. He just played my game the other day. On PlayStation. That's crazy. That's so crazy.

37:42let's get to story number two sticking with xbox here xbox's 25th anniversary limited edition console price and release dates revealed comes with halo campaign evolved this one from kate under at ign uh earlier this summer microsoft revealed that it will be releasing a translucent green xbox series x console inspired by the original xbox for the company's 25th anniversary now microsoft's confirmed that the console will cost a whopping 900 and released on november 13th It will come with the Xbox Series X console, a matching controller, and a free copy of Halo Campaign Evolved. Pre-orders go up tomorrow, August 27th at 7 a.m.

38:16The controller can be purchased separately for$80, and it will release on October 20th. I remember a time when DualShock 2 controllers being$40 upset me. I'm like, that's unacceptable. Yeah,$80 is a lot, and that bitch doesn't even have back buttons, dude. you know what i mean it's crazy dude it's ridiculous even then it's like 80 it's like that i thought this would be more money just because of it being all collectory and special because it's like the pro 2 nintendo switch pro controllers 90 that's true that is but back button it does that back soft is sat very soft soft is satin div but i can't see the insides and also like look 900 for this xbox series x it's obscene is wild work to imagine paying that much money for an Xbox Series X in 2026?

39:08Like, I know we just talked about a lot of this, like, good stuff they're doing, but I'm like, what the you would see? Anybody that is seriously considering buying a$900 Series X that wasn't in at$500? Right. You know what I mean? It's like, when we always say there's never been a better time, it's like, there has been many other times. I don't want to say better. There's never been a worse time to buy an Xbox. There's never been a fucking worse time. Yeah. And sure, they're incentivizing with the fucking cool green and shit, but like, that's insane. This thing's gonna sell out that's just how this shit works like don't take the metrics of it selling that one way or another it's like it is what it is yeah i'm surprised it's not a thousand dollars me me and me and mike were joking around when this thing first got revealed and we're like you know we're gonna buy that shit and we're not gonna we're just gonna put it in you know it behind us in our stream setups or whatever because the the translucent green xbox has always just meant so much to me that was my first xbox and that was my just first halo experience and It's like such a pivotal moment in my gaming history.

40:09And I felt a little bit of that before the price increases. And now it's just like, this is no shot. Like, it'd be like, that's stupid as hell. Now, what I will say is this thing will be worth a lot of money in the future, Andy. So if that matters to you. Will it? Yeah, 100%. I guarantee it. You're silly to think otherwise. Look at any collector's edition console that, especially ones that are doing the thing people want any from the past at what cost him you know oh i'm not saying do it i'm definitely not saying do it i'm just saying like the collection you pay for that bloodborne ps5 well that's different you can't put a price on you can't put a price on 60 frames per second bloodborne all right but like if i were 1200 bucks okay yeah yeah But the thing here too is the PS5, like the 30th anniversary was more than this.

41:03That's right. But it was a pro. Do we know the amounts? Because I remember when the PS5 collected edition was like, hey, we have 20 or some bullshit. It was ridiculous. It was some like obscenely small amount. Do we know the amount of this? I don't think, I mean, they would have said it here, right? I don't know. Yeah, interesting. I just want their standard controller to have back buttons, dude.

41:33Like, we just have to be there now. Where are those other controllers? The one with the pants?

41:44The one with the pants? Is this one of those situations? Like, are you fucking with me? No, the controller that's wearing pants. Farrah, can you bring up the pants controller? Are you talking about where it's like white on the top and then black on the two little holders? Candles? Yeah. Because that was like one of the early leaks. Those are pants. Look at the pants. How would a giraffe wear pants? Like this or like this? That's what it is. It's funny. I wasn't talking about that one. Oh, okay. What were you talking about? I was talking about the one with the weird knobs on the bottom. The dials.

42:22There was so much shit that were like, oh, that's definitely going to be at Gamescom. Then it wasn't at Gamescom. oh really it's definitely going to be at summer game fest and then it wasn't so it's like where is that stuff i don't know well i think i think the regime change changed a lot of shit i think like a lot of hardware stuff was probably but the thing is like like there's just a reality that if hardware is made already and like manufactured they're not just gonna be like let's not put it out it's like there's just there's a lot well we don't know if they were mass-produced yet well it seemed i thought that's what that's where the shit was leaking right was like people were having them i could be wrong like there's a lot of this was going on while i was on my uh pandemic so i like i could be wrong about stuff a pandemic and a divorce in one year i know man it's just been insane yeah it's been such a lot of time for your boy tim gettys uh hey please i'm now a single man all right on the streets alone i need all the support we could use this to our benefit so uh so here we go there's some word from our sponsors the wait is over aliens fire team elite 2 is out now and it's every bit as brutal as you hoped.

43:24Grab three friends, gear up as colonial marines, and drop into the most hostile corners of the alien's universe. There's no rescue, no backup, no way out. Xenomorphs hunt and pack, strike from the dark and swarm faster than you can reload. This sequel hits harder with deeper squad mechanics, more enemies, and a fully customizable specialist class built exactly how you want to fight. And when the campaign's done chewing you up, the new and improved Horde mode throws wave after wave at you until something breaks, you or them. If you've ever wanted to feel what it's like to hold the line against an overwhelming Xenomorph swarm, this is it.

44:45You're allowed to, right? They're giving you the means. I am, but it's going to make other experiences for me way worse when I don't have this. That is the thing. You've got to set yourself up for, like, not lowest common denominator, but a common denominator you're comfortable with knowing that you're not going to get the same experience everywhere. I get annoyed when I go to a preview event and there's just no back buttons at all, or if I'm not allowed to plug in my own controller. Yeah. You know, shout out to, I think it was the Shadow of the Urtree event. yeah I believe it was or I just busted out my controller and started plugging it in and Bandai Namco employee was on stage talking to all of us and they definitely saw me and they were like don't plug anything don't plug anything into the controllers and I just kept on doing it and Lucy was like Andy he's talking to you and I was like I know I know and I played the whole time with the controller it was so bad but like i need it you want me to was this the same preview event where uh lucy also watched you eat goldfish just um like a horse like a horse no that was the don walker one okay that was about a don walker one well you know your hands yeah are nuclear you know they are full of just bacteria i don't want to touch my face to them so i opened a bag of goldfish and i was just going Wow that is worse than I expected Because I infamously Andy I can say with most certainty I've only had Cheeto dust Hot Cheeto dust on my fingers Five times a month I didn't know where that story was going to go I was like man this could go anywhere Because I always just I down it I don't like that Take the bag He's single I'm single everybody i'm not everyone this is such a joke i am very married i'm very happy she is very happy everyone's very happy everything's fine greg's just a fucking asshole okay we're fine um where was i controllers i've hard committed to every time i start up a new game every time from now on i'm gonna stop and after playing for five ten minutes stop go into the options and set the back paddles to be whatever specific thing i want for that game experience always got to be dodge see that's my thing is i that's not true for me there's some i'm learning that there's certain things that like it's the game feel it's like what's the game trying to get me to do damn how focused on running because i've learned click l3 to run works for me for some games other times i I do like it being in that R2.

47:27I do like it being some other button. That really shocked me that you didn't like L3 to run. Yeah. That's like so preferred for me. Yeah. You don't like just tap it at once and it goes. Sometimes you have to hold. Nah. Yeah. Usually in the opposite, it'll say like you could swap. Usually. To toggle. Usually. What games are you playing? I don't know. But I know about story number three. Rockstar Games finally addresses extraordinary and heartbreaking GTA 6 leaks. This comes from Tom Phillips at IGN. Rockstar has addressed the leaks, describing them as heartbreaking for the development team and unfortunate for fans.

48:05In a statement posted to social media, the developer acknowledged that its intended experience for players may now be impacted by some spoilers, but reiterated its previously confirmed launch date of November 19th. Here's the statement in full. Dear all, we know that many of you have been waiting to hear from us regarding the events of the past week. It'd be an understatement to say that having videos of GTA 6 gameplay leak in this way has been heartbreaking for our team. And this is obviously not how we intended for you to see the game after all this time. We're very sorry that everything has taken as long as it has from getting the game finished nearly there to sharing more details and official gameplay and providing the community with everything you want to know.

48:40We're very excited for everyone to see the extended look tomorrow. it's taken longer than we wanted to get it ready but as with everything we do we know we need to exceed your expectations and we are determined to deliver at the level you expect and deserve. While it's unfortunate that the intended game experience may now be impacted by spoilers, we hope that everyone will wait a bit longer to experience the game on November 19th. We want to thank everyone in the community who's reached out with messages of support this past week. Your words have meant more to this team than you can imagine. Ultimately we're making this game for you and without you we would not have the privilege of making games.

49:11We look forward to sharing more with you soon. Sincerely, Rockstar Games. It's just got to stink so much for these people trying to just finish. They're in the last final stretch. About to have this moment of being able to celebrate tomorrow. I'm just thinking about fucking Matilda working on an environment and fucking Joseph working on a lighting. And you're just trying to work on shit. and you're everything on the internet is just happening what a nightmare dude what a fucking it stinks so bad it dies i'm interested they even had a statement this feels very not rockstar to me i don't know that they needed to do this i don't think it's bad that they did i think that we're just at this point right now that it's like everyone has opinions and sometimes it's like i don't know that opinions need to be had you know does that make sense i i think i think if anything it shows hey obviously we think all this stuff sucks but we're still really really stoked for you to see the full thing tomorrow thursday yeah you know right it's like this is this is definitely i'm just being like hey marketing tomorrow's the day you might have seen some stuff you ain't seen the stuff yeah like we're excited to show you the stuff we're excited to see the stuff andy we're excited for you to see the stuff in 4k you know looking beautiful at you with none of the bit rate, you're going to be watching that shit.

50:38Hi, Def. If you have Netflix, and if you don't, you'll be watching it six minutes later on Twitter. It's going to be out there. Go enjoy it. Yeah. I think it's a great opportunity for them just to kind of reiterate, hey, we got some big shit happening. For people paying attention, for anyone following our social accounts that hear that deeply, and you're on the internet, clearly. Yeah. Right? There's so many people that I know, personally that are somewhat interested in gaming that have no idea about all these leaks like yeah oh my god the majority of majority such a twitter thing yeah yeah um let's get story number four star wars zero company review roundup it's currently at a 86 on metacritic and an 87 on open critic yes we use open critic right yeah yeah dude that's awesome dan stapleton at ign gives it a 9 out of 10 star wars zero company is an excellent tactical game that does a fantastic job of slathering on the same cinematic look and feel we saw in response star wars jedi games incorporating strong characters and storyline that's professionally centered on non-force users and a non-traditional villain very cool jade king at pgc says it's a four out of five the biggest achievement of star wars zero company is how much it made me care about a universe that has grown achingly dull and predictable in recent years it rarely innovates with its combatter characters but it doesn't have to when they're both this well executed battles are nuanced games of chess where Every single move matters, and with the personal stories of each companion tugged at my heartstrings in ways I would never have expected from a title like this.

52:08By replacing the light and dark with the demonstrable shade of gray, Zero Company is able to show us exactly what Star Wars is capable of in the right hands. And then, James Galatio from Game Informer gave it an 8 out of 10, saying developer Bit Reactor largely succeeds at what it sets out to do. And if you're a fan of either Star Wars or XCOM, it's an easy recommendation, even if I wish the story had just a bit more juice. If you're looking for sci-fi tactics fix, Zero Company delivers the goods. Damn, this looks so awesome. It does, man. And I talked to death a million times, but I just wish I had time.

52:41Yep, that's what it is. This is a perfect example of that for me. I'm like, this looks cool as shit. This could be a Steam Deck game at night, unaccounted for hours. From what I've heard, it shouldn't be a Steam Deck game. Shit. Yeah. You know, shit. I don't know when this Steam Deck 2 is going to happen. if ever it's not at this point at this point but now i'm looking at i'm looking at that rog xbox ally x oled the oled one 100 less clicky and get what they said and put steam os on it yeah like because otherwise i was wanting to get that legion go to and that fuckers 2000 everything sucks everything sucks dude everything is so bad man i like because it has gotten to that point where the you know i do like playing the the higher end triple a stuff on nvidia geforce now through my steam deck but when we review stuff it's not on there yeah That's why I use the Apollo Moonlight stuff You should look into it, it's not that hard You're throwing all these space terms at me Yeah, it's pretty sick, isn't it?

53:57I'm gonna look it up, Apollo Moonlight They're two separate things One's the receive and the Ah, throw Okay Story number five, Devolver Digital and Doinksoft Announced Side-scroller action platformer Volvi's Adventure Reslimed for PC This comes from Sal Romano at Matsu publisher devolver digital and developer doing soft have announced Volvi's adventure reslimed a spectacular remaster of the second remake of the original monochrome action platformer starring the most famous video game mascot of all time it will launch on PC and via steam on November 19th what else did doing soft work on do you hear that though yeah it's all student when it's coming oh this the same day yeah yeah brilliant it's brilliant fucking brilliant I'm saying dude adventure across four revamping their own barber night full of naughty baddies and menacing boss fights while collecting delicious onions to keep Volvie at extreme levels of awesome.

54:52Whip out your big hand for whatever comes your way from helicoptering over huge chasms and grinding radical rails to dashing through the skies and fisting your way deep underground. And just when you think you've met your match, scarf down a bundle of onions to transform into the muscular Swolvie and rage your way out of any situation. There's some sort of story too. Basically some warlocks release some slime and Volvie stopping them. Also, they kidnapped his friends. Perfect. This is the, I believe, the developers of Gunbrella and Gato Roboto. Yeah. Brilliant. Good for them. This is like the fake mascot, right?

55:26Yeah. From their showcases. It's so good, dude. Yeah. I hope the game's actually good. Look, the thing is, I think Gunbrella was underwhelming, but game feel was so awesome in that. I don't know if you ever checked out Gunbrother, but it felt exactly how you wanted it to feel with movement and floatiness and all that stuff. And I think they know how to make a good platformer. It's just all about, at this point, how do we lean into this bit? How do we lean into the comedy? It's silly as hell. Super awesome. Then, if the game ends up being good, Andy. If it ends up outselling Grand Theft Auto 6, it'd be big news.

56:12Huge news. It would be really big. But if I were to know about something way smaller, where would I look? You'd go to our last story, the Wii News Channel, where we cover all the small news items you need to know about. Here we are, everyone. In Wii News, a Plague Tale Legacy review roundup. A Metacritic said a 79. Open Critic had an 85. Kyle Hilliard, Game Informer, gave it an 8.5, saying Resonance, a Plague Tale Legacy borrows from many games. There are puzzles with Tomb Raider flavors, like Nathan Drake. Sophia has never known the comfort of a stable platform. The combat and ties to Greek mythology were called games like God of War.

56:46That's impressive here. What's impressive here is how well Asobo Studio executes those familiar genre staples and delivers a moving story starring a charismatic pirate on what may be the most impactful and tragic adventure of her life. We'll be talking about it on Gamescast. Oh, who's playing it? Me and Greg probably played around the same amount. Wow. Yeah. Okay. Very cool. And like, it's one of those that as I booted up, I'm like, fuck, this is just, they just made an Uncharted game without guns. And like, it's, you know, melee and parries and stuff. But it is so surprisingly like high quality.

57:23Hell yeah. Well, we'll hear more after this on the Gamescast. Travis Northup at IGN gave it a 6 out of 10, saying Resonance of Plague Tale Legacy is a prequel spinoff that takes a lot of interesting chances with the series. but only some of its experiments pay off. The Wolf Among Us Remastered launches on October 29th. And then for Mario 64, new LEGO Super Mario sets with minifigures have been revealed coming January 1st, 2027. Andy, this is a very big deal. Previously, we've only had goofy-ass Big Mario. Stupid-ass plot. We're now getting minifigs. We're getting minifigs. Having said that, they're doing the like, we're trying too hard thing, in my opinion.

58:03I miss the days of there's rules to minifigs they're fucking minifigs yeah sure you give Anakin some short legs it's adorable they're giving him a real head he's getting a real head a real Mario head in my opinion they're making Mario a little too tall is there any way to enhance this image Barrett if not it's totally okay I see what you're saying you just want this like you're right where I'm at where but again so much of Mario is like that big schnoz and that's so hard to do just to draw that on no it's not you can do it I mean we've seen Mario in 2D before but it's It's the nose and it's the mustache.

58:35And I could see, you know, like trying to translate that in just 2D paint form. I don't know, man. I've read books about Mario. There's that baby Mario book. I read it all the goddamn time now. Never thought I'd be reading this book, Andy, but here I am. Okay. And what about it? He looks perfect in 2D. But not on a brick head. You're making sense. Where you need to, where like you always have to play with the same dimension. Mario makes a distinct silhouette, you know, at a profile angle and stuff. But look at it right there. That's 2D. It does look dumb as fuck. It does look dumb as fuck. But just imagine just that little circle of his face on a brick head.

59:13But like, look at him. He's just a little too tall. Like Luigi being tall, I get. Bowser Jr. is so cute. But I feel like Mario should just be normal. They should have given him the Anakin legs. That's what I'm saying. Well, I think the Anakin legs would have been overcorrected. Yeah. Then he's too short. Then he's just not Super Mario. He's just Mario. But now he's just not, but now he's going to be the same size as Luigi. That just doesn't make sense. But the thing is, at least if they're all minifigs, like standard minifigs, I'm okay. But like, am I wrong? Maybe my eyes are deceiving me because of his overalls.

59:41Maybe he's not long. Because this looks like the Woody Lego to me. Woody from Toy Story? He's not long. That's a standard ass minifig body. It's a standard minifig. With a head. Then I take back a lot of my, I'm fine with it. I just don't like the head. But I'm fine with it otherwise. I take it back. They should have given Luigi longer legs. You're right Give him the woody legs I would have been okay with that I imagine Toad has to have the short legs Right Oh Toad's definitely gonna have small legs Yeah Toad needs the little legs Shout out to the Koopa Unshout out to the Yoshi The Koopa definitely has small legs The Yoshi looks too good It just looks too good It doesn't look like a Lego But you can't make a Yoshi You're gonna fucking figure it out Give me something that Mario can just sit in man Think about those Lego horses Yeah They're treating Yoshi like a person here And I don't respect it I understand that he is in a lot of ways But sometimes he's just a horse And I think that in Lego form Mario needs to ride the Yoshi

1:00:46Thank you Barrett Damn he is a horse huh I Give me a lot to think about Yeah it's just like Cause this version of Yoshi has no interaction with Mario. There's no level of interaction with them. Yeah. He can't be on top of him. Maybe you could take off his shell, but that's stupid because his shell is literally designed to be his, what do they call it? Stirrup? That's not right. What is it? I don't know. Saddle? Yeah. I'm not good about horse accessories. Sorry. There's just some characters weren't meant to be Lego. and you gotta let go and with that everyone that's been Wii News Before we go, we are going to have a bit of a bonus extended episode of Kind of Funny Games Daily.

1:01:37Once again, we've partnered up with NVIDIA GeForce On to talk about their updates from Gamescom this year. They had another one of their 20-minute-ish GeForce On update videos that they put out at a pretty rapid pace, I would say, these days. Right, Andy? We're getting these ones every three or four months. Yeah, I feel like this is the second or third one we've had on DLSS 4.5. yeah i feel like it's we've gotten a few before this is just like more and more updates yeah and this is where they kind of like give all the updates on where the new tech's going for upcoming games that are coming out like partnerships they have but then also a lot of the rtx remix stuff which is more the community mod based um situations that pursue uh present really cool results uh in a lot of ways and also updates for games coming to geforce now and all that so we're gonna go through a bunch of that stuff starting off just with top level headlines here the big thing is dlss 4.5 ray reconstruction is being added uh to the whole whole situation and a lot of the big upcoming games and some recent games are getting the updates that we kind of would expect from uh the the rtx side of things so double seven first light is getting path tracing and uh 4.5 ray reconstruction Andy, what is Ray Reconstruction?

1:02:51Ray Reconstruction is just a, it's a tech to clean up weird little, like, artifacts and noise and things that Ray Tracing produces. And I, you know, I experience it a decent amount when playing games with Ray Tracing. a lot of times whenever you are looking at like maybe kind of a wall that's like made out of like a maybe like a matte metal or something like that you'll see a lot of like noise kind of like movement on the wall and it's like the shadows and the lighting are creating these little things and also sometimes whenever you see trails on your images if you if you're playing a first shooter and you know you turn your gun and you see a little trail of your gun behind it ray reconstruction is an effort to get rid of a lot of those you know those uh visual sort of uh malady is not the right word but it feels right in this situation yeah and so and it it gets me really really excited because um like i think my first time ever tinkering around with like dlss or with ray tracing was cyberpunk 2077 and that was like og early day you know dlss stuff and you would turn on ray tracing you would see all of the visual noise happening everywhere and it's like the overall visual quality is better but it's still noticeable and kind of distracting at times so it's just it's an effort to kind of get rid of those little visual important tendencies and make it a cleaner image overall and it's the stuff that are like oh man this already looks freaking fantastic if we could just get rid of these little small things we'll be golden and that's kind of where we're headed right now so that in addition to path racing uh which is something that uh you're you're a big fan of uh in a lot of instances uh come to yeah double seven first light that update is happening on september 15th so not too far from that game already looked crazy yeah and so it already includes dlss 4.5 super resolution and dynamic multi-frame generation but now they're out in the path tracing and uh yeah it's gonna look absolutely like this yeah this scene my god that scene in particular um i think io knocked it out of the park with this game technically and visually and that wasn't even with path tracing and it's just it's going to take visuals to another level with reflections and with uh light bouncing and just accurate real world you know light behaving the way it does in the real world and very very excited to see it this seems like a game that you're going to pop back into just to play around with the right yeah yeah uh so yeah very cool to see also dude i'm just so happy that they're giving us any excuse to go back to this game but we didn't hear about new stuff at gamescom yeah like yeah I thought that we got Hitman.

1:05:45We got Snoop Dogg and Hitman. But we didn't get any tech sim stuff. We didn't get any news on Bavma. No. They were working on Snoop Dogg. Did they talk about a date? It took all of their artists to try to make Snoop Dogg. Yeah, I get that. He just looked awkward. But when they first talked about the DLC for Bond at, I think it was Summer Game Fest, right? That's the thing I don't remember because I remember you talking to Greg about this, about the car mission or whatever. And I don't really have any recollection of that. The car stuff was just, it's on the menu of the game. No, but like when you were talking about, did that get announced?

1:06:21Like, I don't really remember that ever. You know, not the car stuff, just a future sort of thing that they may be releasing. Yeah, we saw Lenny Kravitz trailer. The Lenny Kravitz standalone thing? Yeah. Oh, shit, that's right. Damn. Damn, that is right. Yeah. We didn't see it again. Where's Bavma? Where's he at? I don't know. um but anyways that's that uh but also in addition to the older not older but i'm gonna guess older at this point but games like first light um a lot of the games they announced yesterday or at least talked about yesterday at a gamescom opening night live uh are also getting a ton of this stuff so like a on two anada anemo beautiful light uh cinder city uh which we were talking about oh the crazy high tech one yeah a lot of those are getting um dlss 4.5 and different iterations of ray reconstruction or whatever but then here the big one i want to talk about of course andy for you control resonance getting new path tracing and dlss 4.5 gameplay video giving us a fresh look at the anticipated title and it's now bundled with select rtx graphics cards laptops and pcs have you seen this yet yes yes what are your thoughts because i know this is like a game that you are super hyped for and a big part of that is the visuals yeah i said it yesterday during the during games con like this shit's gonna look unbelievable on pc and like i played it on ps5 pro and you know it looked really good for what it was an earlier build of control resonant and i am just so stoked to kind of see the final product look on my oled monitor um with how amazing we know remedy makes their stuff look yeah and kind of like this weird you know uh freaky version of manhattan how the hell are they going to put their spin on it and everything they just do visual and lighting wise always looks amazing so this is one that's like that's going to be a key standout in upcoming video games and again we've talked about this but there's been a lot of uh nvidia working directly with the developers to like make sure that like these launches are built using this tag and so it's like actually like a great way to at launch play the game and dating back to the original control right like that was the the first hands on sticks you ever got with this stuff.

1:08:34Yeah, absolutely. Yeah, that was definitely one of the... You know what? I did say Cyberpunk was prior to Control, but Control was definitely probably the first... With the path tracing? Well, ray tracing. Ray tracing, period. Path tracing was... Got that later update later on or whatever. And that was Cyberpunk for you. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, this is going to be an awesome... This shit's going to look like fucking butter on my 4090. I'm very, very stoked to see the actual video because it looks amazing on a compressed YouTube video. Yeah. And just in real life, it's a completely different story.

1:09:12And I mean, just imagining all of the rays being traced with all of the fog that we have going on. You know what I mean? Like Control Residence has just a lot of good, not just wet floors, because I feel like shiny floors. We have James Bond for that. But this just has that like, there's stuff in the sky that light can kind of break through. oh yeah yeah yeah you're talking about how uh light dissipates in the fog yeah yeah a little volumetric fog right there a good word dissipate um and then another big one coming up is gears of war e-day so this is a great one here all right like we already knew that they were adding the um dls s 4.5 and all that but um they're now adding rtx mega geometry which is enhances ray tracing on geforce rtx gpus do you understand that at all or is that just i what i see it i gotta understand i gotta assume that mega geometry is like um because unreal engine which this game is being built on they have their nanite which is i think a similar technology where you just have like the craziest amounts of geometry in replace replacing like textures giving you height in information and data the the their whatever their mega geometry is is like that's the technology i i'm familiar with the least i would say but having said that i gave you a pop quiz and you nailed it andy cortez now we're revealing that nvidia rtx mega geometry will also be available enhancing ray tracing of unreal engine 5's nanite virtualized geometry system nanite enables seamless automatic level of detail scaling for game elements allowing developers to create cities filled with unique geometry environments with unique terrain and mountains and forest full of thick foliage and thousands of trees so yeah there we go yeah i mean the game the section of that gamescom breakdown that i enjoyed the most was probably the gears part because it was a lot of the devs talking about we are so stoked to put this to see this game in pc and whenever we play it every day it just looks amazing and a lot of it has to do with also unreal engines amazing uh and this isn't even like an unreal sponsorship uh but the what they do with their their new tech similar to what lumen and nanite nanite does for like lighting and for um geometry they have another version of tech built into their engine that allows you to put as many lights as you want to a scene without like GPU cost.

1:11:43And I don't really know how that's possible, but that's responsible for like that main scene that we saw inside of that like pawn shop with all the TVs on sale, where all the TVs are like glowing their own and, you know, reflecting their own images all over the place. That was like one of the key showcases for that technology. And so it's, I mean, this is probably the one I'm most excited for, to be honest with you. Like control resident is a given this one. gears 5 looked incredible already when you say you're most excited for the just the nvidia tech side of stuff or yeah the tech side okay okay yeah because yeah game wise where you're at i mean it's like it's way up there though like and i never felt it way controls above oh controls yeah yeah but i i mean i love third person shooters and gears rocks and going through my gears 5 is the only gears game i have yet to play now uh and i'm so pumped to actually see how Gears 5 looks currently like running on a current, you know, on my 4090 and then getting into this is going to look freaking incredible.

1:12:47I love Gears 5, Andy. And like people are going to tell you, I really love Gears 5. Dude, I've loved all the Gears games. Yeah. Gears Judgment, everybody hates and says that's the worst. It's probably the one I enjoyed the most and they gamify the shit out of it where it's like Gears Judgment was made by People Can Fly and not yeah, not or no, oh my god epic yeah um it was made by people can fly and it was a like it performed like any it performed the completely opposite of what every gears game does every room you'd walk into was basically a you know defend put up your turrets here and there and then before every room there would be a little modifier on the wall that you would walk up to and it would say do you want to make this level harder okay and if you do um all enemies have snipers or you only have handguns so there was like this roguelite kind of modifier effect to it and i think maybe people hate judgment the most because it was such a different swing to people you know you weren't having like that gears classic game design stuff where this game was just pretty much always on arena and set up your defenses or whatever and i think that's what i really enjoyed about it was that it was just like a no let's get you to find this and then when you finish every level it tells you here's what you did and your teammate did and you had the most deaths but you had the most you know uh not glory kills that's doom but you know what i mean like the yeah the cut scene sort of uh yeah it was awesome i love gears of war judgment but they've all been amazing so far and i'm so suck to continue that gears journey the thing with gears so we have gears here to eday coming out all the fancy dlss 4.5 and all that we need to figure out who the crew is what are we doing are we playing this game together i'm playing with ray oh that's right that's right you already have a yeah yeah i get it i get it yeah greg was giving ray a lot of shit but i mean he did dominate him in games showdown so yeah like i picked the winner you did you did uh last game I want to talk about here.

1:14:56Tides of Annihilation. Any excuse I get to talk about this game, Andy, I'm going to take it. There's a new RTX story trailer from the Action Adventure game that is going to feature DLSS 4.5 and Path Tracing at launch making it an already very, very pretty cool game. Looking even prettier and cooler. I can't wait, man. I hope this is as good as I really dream it to be. I think it's going to hit for you on a lot of the hype. I don't care about other people. I hope everyone loves it. I really do because that always makes things more fun but if this ends up being a Prince of Persia lost crown for me I'm okay with that.

1:15:29No there will definitely be some moments where you go oh shit like there's going to be a lot of core memories there's going to be not quite you know L3 and R3 to accept the truth. Yeah. Not quite that level but there will be some hype stuff in there. Yeah and that's the thing I keep comparing to Final Fantasy 16 and we always talk about that moment but it's like think about any of the boss fights in that game Oh, any of them. Just tight. Let me just throw that out. Yeah. You know? No, you're going to get a lot of that hype. What you definitely need to do is go back and watch the gameplay footage from IGN and VGC and the ones that put out the big stuff.

1:16:06Because the one at Gamescom was severely lacking in coolness. It was just way too short and weird. Yeah. And I guess maybe that was to just kind of show off character and show off the new voice actress. um but like i do appreciate having an actual news item to like like there's a reason for this trailer yeah uh but i agree i was like i even this trailer i think was stronger than that one yeah because yeah a lot of that footage was from the prior one when that lady is pointing at her at the end i paused and i was like this this looks like concept art this looks so freaking good like it's like that doesn't that look like a magic card like a gathering it's crazy how like high quality this game is going to be and yeah i'm so stoked to actually like get hands on the sticks you know and then the uh the next thing is the rtx remix stuff that we're always like excited to see like what people are doing a a cool morrowin uh yeah elder scrolls 3 morrowin there uh there's a community out there that is uh putting out a mod for it and um barrett there's a video down at the bottom there if you want to bring it up just to check it out but it's just super cool you know it's kind of like remastering but unofficial but it just gives such a different look to yeah to an experience and it's cool because it is the classic game right it's not like they're making changes to the gameplay at all it is just the the look of it all so yeah super cool i love things out there i love shit like and another thing that's cool too is uh that part of this 4.5 um update and they're adding this now to the remix side of things and a lot of these games there's a lot more settings even so your ability to kind of go in and turn on or off the different elements that you may or may not like there's just more settings than there's ever been oh right which is cool for like if you think that oh this is changing the vibe too much or like i want a little darker here i want more contrast to this you can turn off some of those settings i'm like all right cool that i think solves a lot of the issues that i've seen some people have with um remakes and remasters in general it's not just this rtx stuff it's just like anytime you're changing a game you're by definition changing the game yeah what you want that to experience to be i i definitely respect those opinions i'm not the one to ever agree with those opinions i just i love seeing new shit with new coats of paint i will always be a sucker for that i i love the before and afters and it's something that i loved doing when i worked in the industry i loved getting a shitty prop made from the you know unity store and then saying like you know how can i make this look more next gen or whatever i just i always love the before and afters and how much in my opinion better things can look and more enhanced visually you know um and then the last big thing that i want to talk about here is geforce now uh we've been a big fan of geforce now for a long time uh it is an amazing streaming service that uh is great i think specifically for people like me and you for our steam decks that's where we've heavily been using it but they're adding support as well for a ton more devices and like this just this is awesome news because the more places geforce now is the more places you're able to play all the biggest games or not all more and more of a majority of the biggest games coming out on any platform you want uh in very very very high um specs so the cool thing here is dlss 4.5 controls are now being added to this as well so you can get more choice over how supported games look and perform with TLSS Super Resolution, Dynamic Frame Gen, and Reconstruction.

1:19:35But new device support, Steam Machine, and Steam Controller support is coming later this year and later for Windows and Mac OS, building upon the previous edition of Steam Deck support. So big, huge moves when they added it to Steam Deck last year. That was a game changer for me personally. GOG Single Sign-On is now live, enabling you to link your GOG account once and all your supported games from that library there. for people that don't know with GeForce Now you just link all of your different libraries and if you own the game on any library including things, if you have access to the game I guess is the better way to say it.

1:20:07Epic, Ubisoft Game Pass, like all that stuff then it's like boom, you get to play that game using GeForce Now and it's as seamless as you can ask for to a shocking degree and I'm pretty like, I don't like having to do all that stuff and having to log into a bunch of accounts I've been so shocked, I just thought, oh I did it once and never had to do it again it's not like bumping me constantly. It's very cool and then later this year GeForce Now is expanding to more Fire TV sticks including the Fire TV stick 4K Select bringing GeForce RTX powered PC gaming to the biggest screens in your home Fire TV users will be able to purchase GeForce Now memberships directly through Amazon, that stuff's cool the biggest year, the biggest PC releases this year including Control Resonant, Gears of War Ide, Onimusha, Way of the Sword, Blood of Dawnwalker, and Star Wars Zero Company will all be available to stream from day one on GeForce Now, that's huge right like those i that's not really missing any major game that i can off the top of my head think of um just waiting for that apple tv support andy that'll change my life okay please if you're listening in video apple tv make it a priority and apple if you're causing a problem stop just be cool for me okay and valve if you're listening what's up with uh seam deck 2 these are the questions these are the questions in case you have that info out there also uh can i get a steam controller with the offset sticks instead of parallel that'd be cool too that has been your nvidia geforce gamescom 2026 updates let's go to a little thing i like to call you're wrong why is it not loading i don't know while it loads i'm going to look at some super chats here dougman says andy why digivader 4 has additional bumpers on the shoulders thoughts um i i've never used those additional bumpers on the shoulders like the shoulder bumpers they're always like they're just placed kind of awkwardly like razor has them i have a couple razor controllers with those buttons i have a couple of not 8-bit dough but i'm blanking on the brand i have i have way too many controllers and i don't really ever use those additional bumper buttons because like i'm like i'm normally just a back paddle dude that's how i'm rocking these days in addition to what i was telling you earlier about i've just hard committed to uh every game do the custom controls it's worth it you know what i mean don't do it 10 hours in like do it the beginning and like lock in in addition to that and i've said this before but i don't know if i've said it to you my goal is for the next year to hard commit to doing things as god intended to an extent.

1:22:52What does that mean? I'm going to use the controller for each system. I'm going to try to stop my journey to find the one controller to rule them all. Okay. I'm going to use a Switch 2 Pro controller on my Nintendo Switch 2. I'm going to use my DualSense Edge on my PlayStation. I'm going to use the Steam machine or Steam controller on my PC. So you're just using controllers like a normal guy? Exactly. Okay. But they're the fancy versions. admittedly. I'm not using the DualSense. I'm using my Edge. But still, you know, in concept. Yes. Full on. It's gonna be normal. And the reason I'm doing that is just because That 8-bit dual adapter annoying or what?

1:23:36You know, as I say this, I still might use the DualSense on the PC. But when it comes to the console, I'm not gonna use my DualSense on the Nintendo anymore. That's what I'm gonna stop. You'll never learn. This is why the divorce happened. Fuck, man. You know what? he'll never learn you stop saying anything i can't commit to anything guys i'm sorry don't listen to me don't trust me uh you're wrong finally loaded kebab said some added context the digital plan cannot work for og xbox or 360 discs as they do not have unique signatures like xbox one and series discs do so with that being said which i did know but i i'm stupid and this would have answered my question earlier of course there's a digital version of every single game then because there weren't physical games being released on the xbox one or series that don't have digital they were digital since they won that entire generation was digital yeah okay yeah yeah i don't think there's any example of a game that only came physical only came physical yeah yeah right let me know if that's wrong though That's an interesting little thing.

1:24:42And then Footlong Shoe says the Xbox Series S supports external storage, but it does not support the use of external optical drives. No shit. So you can't use a disc with a console in any way. Dissed Digital could be a solution for that for people that own an X and an S. No shit. Damn. Yeah. That's surprising to me. Yotij in the chat says Tim isn't really getting divorced right. No, I'm not. There is no divorce. Don't worry about it. It's dumb joke. Watch Game Showdown. Yeah. Watch Game showed up, but then also got in the context of like, we're fine. I love Gia. Gia loves me. Gia puts up with this shit.

1:25:15She's in on the joke. It's okay. Don't worry about it. Spread the word. If there's people in chat that are just like, is this real? It's not fucking real. Yeah. As we brought up on the showcase yesterday, somebody randomly popped into our subreddit and said, if I'm not mistaken, I thought Nick left the company. How is he still on content Like did he come back or something And it's because we did a kind of funny podcast about three or four months ago That said Nick leaves the company Yeah You know Sometimes we just forget about those things And you know It's been three or four months It's about time to do another one of those I mean that's what I was saying The next kind of funny podcast like Tim's divorce Yeah and Christopher says Tim stop breaking kayfabe I know you're joking or whatever And that's the thing is like there is kayfabe If you don't want kayfabe is, it's like pro wrestling of like the pretending the storylines real and all that stuff.

1:26:09And I'm all about it. I'm all about it. We're here for the bits, dude. Like there is always the levels of, of the characters that we play when we're playing characters, you know, y 'all know. I don't want people to think that you're going through a tough time. I mean, I am, but not because of that. That's just my life is fucking tough. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And like, you know, great. Let me, let me say this. Okay, everybody. this is it's a complicated like tightrope to go on at the end of the day we're all entertainers that's what we do we're trying to be entertaining right but on top of that we are people and people are always like is greg miller really like that is snow bike mike really like that is andy is greg is tim is everybody right and like we all are kind of funny we know when we can say the answer is yes right we are all authentically who we are on and off camera things might be heightened you know greg does sit down his desk and he's quiet when he that doesn't mean he's not scheming that doesn't mean he's not doing something you know he's a menace on slack but he's quiet he might just people might think he's never quiet he might be quiet then you hear just like but it's like but he's still greg you know what i mean it's just like it might be like slightly different motive greg but like greg is greg tim is tim like you get my point like i think that is true of literally every single person here yeah period i agree um but then on top of that we play characters sometimes and sometimes on different shows we have to lean into different sides of all of who we are right and i think oftentimes i become the straight man and that's because in a lot of ways i am straight man you know what i mean like i i'll joke here and there like i consider myself a kind of funny person like the company was named i was a huge part of Navy this company oh man you Crushed it the other day with that With that AI joke thank you Thank you but that's my thing is like I never Claimed to be funny I claim to be kind of funny and I Think I fucking nail that but it's like There are funnier people than me here so you lean Into that and it's like cool then The comedy comes from the back and forth Between two right so When Greg's playing this larger than life Asshole I Can't be a larger than life I just need to play it straight There's a reason why the the odd couple has been recreated in so many TV shows.

1:28:22That dynamic just works in its way. And then having said all of that, I don't want to go too long on this, but I think it's important to at least have a real conversation, given the fact that people think I'm actually going through a divorce. Okay. It's like, given the circumstances, it's just kind of proof that like we do a good job of like leaning in maybe too far sometimes. But I think that that kind of shock value does add the fun and injury to it all. Pro wrestling's at its best when you're watching two guys fight in a fake fight, but you believe that they hate each other. You know what I mean?

1:28:52It's like there's something there. And so for us and where we're at with this, it's like I need y 'all to know that it's not like we're faking things. Certain parts are fake. Certain things are fake. But like I didn't know Greg was going to do that. I didn't know what was real and what was fake. The amount of secrets that people try to keep from each other here, where all I kept hearing was Tim talking to Roger and bless and Tim going, well, cause I want to do this thing. And they're like, okay, well, cause Greg wants to do something too. And we just don't. And like them trying to like, you all not wanting to tell each other what the things are to surprise.

1:29:35Let me just say, like, again, now that we're here, and, like, now I'm doing a fucking shoot interview, and, like, this is, like, I'm doing the thing that everyone hates about wrestling, about getting too far into it, but, like, I will just say, on some real, real, real, real shit, Andy, I saw a Reddit thread last night that made me very sad. It, like, really hurt my feelings. What did I say? I mean, we don't need to get into it too much, but it was just, like, it just made me feel really bad about, damn, I'm playing my role so well, but, like, it starts to make me feel like people don't like me, and it starts to make me feel, like, just, like, wow, like, because of my character, it just puts Tim Geddes the person in a place where it's like in addition to having to take shit from Greg I'm now what do you mean like

1:30:16what I will I don't want to get too far into because again there is like a like a wall that I want to keep up to some extent but I'm just gonna say it's like I had a whole plan I had a whole idea of what to do with stars in the bank a whole fucking thing a Tim Geddes fucking thing but scheduling talking to everybody talking to to bless and Roger and trying to figure stuff out Greg had another idea and it was a really good idea He had a doomsday device and I want it clear It's not like they didn't tell me the idea No They didn't even know Nobody knew Only Greg knew I didn't even know what happened Until I came back God The point is it's like there's Greg's trying to be funny He's trying to be entertaining He's trying to come up with this stuff He knows that I can take it He knows what Gia can take Greg knows us very well he loves us he cares about us he he gets it you know sometimes he might make a mistake sometimes we all might cross the line sometimes you know whatever but i i think that more than anyone here at kind of funny i can take that shit sometimes you go man i wish i had that one back yeah and you know like there is the reality of like it does suck that from here on out no matter what we say no matter how many times i say it like people are going to think that me and g are divorced and this this does come with bad shit in the future of like you know g having to deal with that of like friends being like oh yeah what was up with that or whatever that sucks because like even as a joke is like was it worth the joke you know my answer is yes pretty like i'm the one having to deal with pretty monumentally funny yeah talking and g g just i want everyone to know me and you talk about this stuff you know g was warned that greg was going to do something that was going to quote ruin my life and she knew what that could have meant you know what i mean so anyway i i'm saying a lot here but i just want everyone to know there's a lot going on she's also yeah she's not brand new to this she knows the bullshit and the bits and all that yeah and when it comes to the bits and when it comes to the stuff the hardest thing to do is producing shows and to be entertaining when it is kind of no one knows who's real what's real and what's not and we are at the end of the day real people that are hanging out and working together and trying to make the best product possible sometimes secrets can be scary and sometimes you just gotta trust and you just gotta lean in and with that it means you can't over bit if someone has a bit you commit to that bit let them do their thing don't try to do another bit don't try to like you know it's like at a certain point then it just becomes fucking noise and it's not entertainment anymore and you're making a bad product so just saying that also Nick I hope you listen to everything I just said because you can learn a lot yeah Nick anyways thank you for allowing me to rant on that show today good news I just bought Moonlighter 2 physical on Switch.

1:32:59Very exciting. Hell yeah. Thank you. Love to see that. That's not a game key card. Is it? No. Hell yeah. Hell yeah. If you want more Andy Cortez, don't fret, my friends.
