In short

Kinda Funny Games Daily covers three major gaming headlines: Microsoft reversing an $80 price plan for The Outer Worlds 2, Splitgate 2’s developer 1047 Games laying off staff and shutting down Splitgate (original) servers while moving Splitgate 2 back to beta, and Nintendo Switch 2 becoming the fastest-selling U.S. gaming hardware platform. The hosts also discuss broader implications for game pricing, studio viability, and console momentum.

Guests

The episode is hosted by Tim Gettys with co-host Blessing Adeoye Jr. No additional guests are interviewed in this segment.

Guest backgrounds

Tim Gettys and Blessing Adeoye Jr. are long-running hosts/commentators for Kinda Funny Games Daily (games media personalities; Blessing is a frequent on-camera host).

Key claims

  • Outer Worlds 2 drops from $80 to $70; hosts speculate it’s driven by weak preorders and broader market resistance to rapid price hikes.
  • 1047 Games says Splitgate 2 launched too early, made “boneheaded mistakes,” and will rebuild with community playtests; Splitgate 1 servers cost “hundreds of thousands” to keep running.
  • Switch 2 launch month: 1.6M units in the U.S.; $978M hardware revenue, surpassing June 2008’s prior record.

Notable examples

  • Mario Kart World cited as an $80 title that still sells well.
  • Splitgate 2 released June 2025; original Splitgate servers shut down.
  • Switch 2 top games: Mario Kart World, Cyberpunk 2077, Rune Factory Guardians of Azuma; Delta Rune mentioned as a digital-only chart leader.

Chronic migraine is 15 or more headache days a month, each lasting four hours or more. Botox, onabotulinum toxin A, prevents headaches in adults with chronic migraine before they start. It's not for those with 14 or fewer headache days a month. It prevents on average 8 to 9 headache days a month versus 6 to 7 for placebo. Prescription Botox is injected by your doctor. Effects of Botox may spread hours to weeks after injection causing serious symptoms.

1:23Allerge your doctor right away as difficulty swallowing, speaking, breathing, eye problems, or muscle weakness can be signs of a life-threatening condition. Patients with these conditions before injection are at highest risk. Side effects may include allergic reactions, neck and injection site pain, fatigue, and headache. Allergic reactions can include rash, welts, asthma symptoms, and dizziness. Don't receive Botox if there's a skin infection. Tell your doctor your medical history, muscle or nerve conditions, including ALS Lou Gehrig's disease, myasthenia gravis or Lambert-Eaton syndrome, and medications, including botulinum toxins, as these may increase the risk of serious side effects.

2:52what's up and welcome to kind of funny games daily for wednesday july 23rd 2025 of course i'm your host tim gettys i'm joined today by blessing at aoye jr bless how are you i'm doing

3:03Blessing Adeoye Jr.:well i love your hair today thank you hair is looking fantastic thank you got a haircut it was the longest i went without a haircut since covid times oh back when it was just you know everything everyone was what happened you just let it go it was just i've been busy i've been so busy and i'd look in the mirror every day be like i hate you i hate this man that's looking back at me but now i'm like yeah what's up yeah look at that look at that sad i don't know if you've watched or listened to content in the last couple of days it's not been kind to you i'm sure it hasn't been kind to me specifically like talking about this oh yeah well no this is reagan nick yeah oh and everybody in the chat just being like what's going on here now here's the thing that i gotta be to be honest with looking at that guy i'm like i don't think he's that bad looking i don't think he's that bad i think there's something going on there it's not my preferred look obviously i think it's just the the hat and hair combo you know but see i think that i like that i feel like it's just because i don't often wear hats that i wear a hat no matter how i wear the hat i'm wearing the hat wrong i get that judgment yeah i'm not saying that they're wrong i do have a big head yeah found out that my that gia's sister's boyfriend has a really small head this weekend i mean we're regia's mom's birthday this weekend so i had to miss all the fun stuff like the pokemon presents and everything yeah um y 'all went to watch fantastic four without me like i am such a sad little boy here yeah and um yeah i found out that he has a very small head like you know how the like you were seeing him in person for the first time well i've seen him a million times but like it's like there's the fitted hats yeah you know and it's like we were always talking about like my brother's off the charts like my brother needs to get like custom hats because his head's too big yeah um because normally it's like the hats go from like seven to eight inches with all the little increments in between.

4:41I'm 7 5 8ths. I'd say 7 1⁄4 and 7 1⁄2 are the most common. Do you know what you are? I have no idea what I am. I'm 7 5 8ths. It's a little uncommon, but it's on the bigger side. It's nothing crazy. My brother's 8 plus. Found out that my homie here, under 7. No. 6 3 4ths. It was hard not to laugh at that. First off, not his fault. Second off, not a problem. Is he an overall small man? or like no i mean yeah well he's he is a a fit normal sized man okay yeah so then like it what's

5:15Blessing Adeoye Jr.:the shape of his head is it like a i would have never thought anything of it you know what i mean he's i guess he's an oval shaped guy base okay dude all right so like you put a head hat on his head you just fucking spin that thing around it's fucking like yeah it's a normal hat yeah but he needs to wear his tiny little hats uh do you know what your size is for fitted no i've never thought about hat sizes who do you i've never also thought about and like i'm the guy who wears hats i just i don't i just buy a hat you wear hats god i'm joking everyone see you joke but that actually was a thing that like was a revelation to you at one point after working with me for like 40 years that is so funny you know me i'm just at my desk i'm just doing my thing just doing his thing i will say i missed out on a lot of content this week and i'm upset about that um did you watch the pokemon present i watched y 'all's reaction to the pokemon presents which was super fun yeah i I rarely get that opportunity to watch a kind of funny games reaction to a game showcase because I'm normally on them.

6:14Y 'all did great. I loved it. It was very, very funny, very informative. But more than anything, I'm so aligned with you. Like everything you said. Yeah. I'm like, oh, I'm right there with Bless. And like specifically seeing champions and being like a little let down. Yeah. Now, the one thing that I did wish I was at the desk to talk to you about, and now I can write those sins, Bless, correct those sins, write those wrongs, is you talking about wanting to just rent the poker. and that this seems overly complicated and stuff. I think you're still going to be able to ride the Pokemon. But the thing that's good about this being complicated is it's just matching the core games.

6:45So now the core games experience that people have been fighting for, training these little fuckers for 30 years, 30 plus years. That's not 30 plus years, 30 years.

6:53Blessing Adeoye Jr.:For Pokemon? Mm-hmm. Next year's 30. Oh, is it really just the 30th? Oh, 1990? Next year's 30. Wow. Yeah, yeah. But this is great. This is them actually giving them the full tool set, do the IV training and all that stuff in one place on mobile as well. I just hope it's good like I hope that aspect is fun right like I'm down for people being able to like mess with stats and like have that true Pokemon experience on one more competitive place but I just look I just looked at what they showed there and I'm like this this looks like it's going to be more basic I'm most let down by the animations and stuff like I feel like if you're going to go harder with the like presentation of this being a arena battle game it's like let's let's have this look good but I also understand that there is now over a thousand into these little shits yeah so but also that's not my problem let me tell you i i last year i'm i know i talked about this right but i booted up pokemon stadium 2 and went through gym leader castle just for the fuck of it and i'm to this day still impressed by the visuals of pokemon stadium 2 great stuff fucking sound the announcer the amount of different animations how good all the pokemon look how good the arenas look like the variety of arenas in that game i pokemon stadium 2 i know pokemon stadium 2 gets love i'm gonna throw way more love on pokemon stadium as much as i can yeah because that shit is fucking fire now i know it's not the core pokemon experience that people want and like they tried that a little bit with the gamecube stuff and i didn't play much of the gamecube stuff right but i don't know man there's something special it was the core experience gold and silver there's the experience was a little different back then because there's a lot more limited when you're not getting the like triple battles you're not getting a lot of i guess they did have the special well i'm thinking of like normal rpg gamecube gave us like gale of darkness i feel what you're saying yeah because the wee one was battle revolution which was just another stadium like i know and like dude i i got battle revolution was excited to play it right and it was like oh man this shit's about to miss pokemon stadium again and then i realized with that one like you really have to have your own pokemon like they don't i don't think they even had they don't i think they had like a very limited amount of rental pokemon it wasn't like stadium where like any pokemon you want you can straight up use that's what i want and put some mini games in there yeah overall though the presents yesterday kind of whatever yeah but uh then we got next year's though february it will be the 30th anniversary i'm expecting gen 10 i'm expecting oh man finally the old games ported you know at some point howl knight has to come out at some point pokemon red and blue has to come back uh but everyone today is not that day today is the day that we're talking about video games because this is kind of funny games daily each and every Psalm Twining Today we're brought to you by Mood and Factor, but we'll tell you about that later.

11:50For now, let's bring in with what is and forever will be the Roper Report. It's time for some news. We have seven stories today.

12:00Blessing Adeoye Jr.:A picker's dozen. Hold on. So there's Mothra. Yes. And then there's Mon Mothma. And then there's Greg. So Mon Mothma is the Star Wars character. Yes. Mothra is the big flying moth from King Kong. Godzilla? both Godzilla cross Kong the new empire. Thank you. Okay. Story number one, Microsoft has reversed plans to charge$80 for the outer worlds too. This comes from Andy Robinson at VGC. Microsoft has reversed his plans for its next big RPG to be priced at$80. When the obsidian sequel releases on October 29th, it'll now cost$70. Microsoft announced on Wednesday, last month, Xbox had said outer worlds too would be its first$80 title as part of a broader increase in game prices an xbox spokesperson said we're focused on bringing players incredible worlds to explore and we'll keep our full priced holiday releases including outer worlds 2 at 70 in line with current market conditions bless i didn't include it uh in this article but there was also a statement from the outer worlds to like social media accounts where they were speaking in like the world of outer worlds 2 of like a um a message from i believe it was like either auntie's choice or like one of the corporate things or maybe it was just like a general corporate statement of like being like you know we have heard your pleas or whatever and like the voice of outer worlds too and it felt very cringe to me i didn't really like it as i was reading it like i get what they're trying to do right they're trying to be fun with it um but like it's a good choice like thank god that this is happening it's i why do you think this is happening that's my thing is i don't know how good this is in the sense of like all they're listening my read is all pre-orders are down down and that's my thing because like this news very much surprises me i thought that this was not going to happen at all because it does seem kind of like you can't put the genie even back in the bottle type situation i my read on it is pre-orders were so bad for them that they're like we gotta do something yeah and like that's not great but it does show that they'll take action when things are looking dire maybe we're wrong there is a chance that there was someone just looking at things and being like hey with where the economy is like we should probably not put games out at 80 i just don't know i just don't believe that i just don't believe i think i think there is the balance of fan outcry and fan um fans being upset right how you balance that bad pr with what might not be what you want out of the pre-orders right like i think both can be true to varying extents i'll probably lean way more on like just the pre-orders not being there as far as why they do this because i think the problem the 80 thing for video games right like i think getting that jump from 60 being the standard to 70 being the standard to now trying to reach to the 80 i think it's happening too quick in a way that is not digestible for the audience to where now it's like oh shit like okay that is a that's a big jump i don't i'm only gonna pay that for like the games that i think you know are either worth it or a game that i'm like oh i gotta have this i think mario kart world can get away with it because it's mario kart world and it's the launch title for the switch and it's one of the best it's coming from one of the best selling franchises in video games and that's i think the bigger problem right now is we don't have any evidence so far that people will not buy games at 80 because so far the 80 game mario kart world has sold very well but i think think outer worlds 2 is an example of a game where i don't think it was you told me that before i mean we i think we we were shocked on our reactions right of like oh 80 dollars like that's kind of crazy right like outer worlds one outer worlds one doesn't feel that vast in terms of scope and all that stuff right and correct me chat that came i assume that came out at 60 i think i played that on game pass um but that strikes me as a game where it's like well i'm gonna pay the 60 dollars because I believe in this type of game.

15:57Blessing Adeoye Jr.:I love obsidian as a studio, right? Like I want a Fallout type of experience and like Outer Worlds looks neat. Cool, I'll show up for it, even though like, guess what? Skyrim is$60, Fallout is$60. These big open world RPGs are$60, but Outer Worlds is something a bit more like focused and a bit more condensed. Yeah, like I'll show up to that for$60. I don't think, even if Outer Worlds 2 is way bigger, I don't think it's a really tough sell for your audience who's already been conditioned by what Outer Worlds 1 is to go, oh I'm going to pay$80 for Outer Worlds 2. It's absolutely wild. The fact that I couldn't tell you right now if for sure Outer Worlds 1 was a$60 game or not.

16:38Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Chat was saying that, or speculating that it was$50 at launch. Oh, was it$50? I have not seen concrete evidence of that yet. Either way, right? The first one launched at$60 chat saying a lot to 60 either way i'm with i'm with that right where it's like the this game is being pushed as a game pass game like then not all games get that kind of like real mega like get it on game pass you could also buy it other ways like you can do that for most or for all xbox first party games but certain games get pushed differently and i feel like outer worlds is one of those ones that we look at that's like oh it's awesome it's on game pass because so many people are going to get to play it and you put the 80 price tag and you're just like no one's buying that for 80 dollars like yeah you just know right and the nintendo side of the conversation is completely irrelevant to this i think because of what we're talking about like new console launch but i'm still hung up on the fact that donkey kong benance is ten dollars cheaper than mario kart world but i think that is relative right like i think if this was if this was the elder scrolls six yeah i think you could get away with charging 80 for it i think people will be mad but people are still buying that for 80 i just think outer worlds 2 just isn't it's not you're just not on that level but they were trying to make it be the standard for all the titles and Now it sounds like they're not doing it for any of their holiday titles.

17:51Yeah. So what is out of the big ones that we even know about? I mean, call of duty would be the one that you're like, Oh yeah, that being$80 wouldn't surprise me whatsoever, but they're saying it's not going to be,

18:00Blessing Adeoye Jr.:which is that surprises me. I think that's the one where I, I think call of duty. We probably could have gotten away with charging$80 for that. But like, I think it's a couple of things. One, maybe reading the tea leaves for outer worlds too, has really informed Xbox, Microsoft as far as like, okay, we can't do this yet. Like we might, not have the stuff to put our subs our games at 80 dollars eight even maybe a call of duty but then also oh man call of duty pre-orders aren't up yet right they're not open yet i can't imagine and so they're not reading those tea leaves so yeah i wonder i wonder if it's a thing of like fuck these pre-orders were so bad for outer roads too that we're just saying no well i mean it is interesting right that right now the and help me out here where where i get anything wrong the only three games officially that were announced at 80 dollars mario kart world borderlands 4 and borderlands 4 wasn't announced at 80 oh well it was just rumored that it was going to be and then yeah ryan renee pishford gave a bad statement which made people think yeah okay gotcha gotcha because yeah i was about to say like so far marcar world's been the only one that's like stuck with it yeah whereas um the others have either pulled back or that wasn't the plan to begin with so yeah i think the other aspect uh that i find interesting in this is uh also the game pass of it all that uh you mentioned earlier because i think with it being 80 dollars originally a lot of people were saying, well, now that makes Game Pass more enticing to get this title.

19:25And if that's another main avenue for them, how do you even measure what the interest of a game is going to be on Game Pass for new people to come in and subscribe and stuff like that? And I do wonder where that calculation was when they originally priced this game at 80 of how they measure that pre-launch you know it's just like an interesting thought i had yeah exactly but again i don't think it has anything to do with this game i think it has to do with this holiday and the timing and i think that this game is just unfortunately the first in line it reminds me a lot of when they first launched game pass and it was like oh man every first party title is going to be available day one and it's like oh man that's going to be crazy for gears and it was like oh here's crackdown three you know what i mean it's like i feel like they they have these initiatives and plans uh and it's kind of just time to go whenever it's time to go regardless of if they have the lineup to support that strategy and i think that right now this is an example like i would be shocked if anybody working on outer worlds 2 is like this game should be 80 that's the right call in the economy right now one thousand percent yeah i think this

20:31Blessing Adeoye Jr.:is like i think it's just ripping the bandit off too early on this right with the wrong title i i I think it's tough to think of what is the right, what is the game that they'll do it with? Because obviously they wanted to do this now. This fall was the time to go, right? But that's just not working. I think that was to the detriment of this game and games that are of a similar scope. You need a big title to do this with. Maybe that could have been Fable. Maybe Fable is that big, highly scoped title. No$80 game, still 2027 then. I mean, maybe. I mean, yeah, considering what the conversation is there.

21:05Blessing Adeoye Jr.:or like maybe a perfect dark a game that got canceled maybe like a wonder woman maybe a wonder woman maybe a again maybe an elder scroll 6 a game that feels like it's still years and years away right like i think this is a band-aid they want to pull pull off but the the wounds just not in a place yet where they can like peel it off and have people go ah shit well i'm gonna buy this thing right like to the game to the game pass conversation i still think even with that there is a balance like there are those those numbers that microsoft looks at and goes all right we expect to do this for game pass but also we still expect to do this many for sales especially when you're releasing things on other platforms exactly and so i'm sure they're looking at those playstation pre-orders as well and going shit well we need this the whole point of going multi-platform is so we can still make these game sales on playstation and subsidize the whole cost of all this shit yeah and so if those aren't looking pretty that's tough it is tough yeah i definitely i mean hey this is good news that the price is uh dropping but i do not think it's necessarily good news for the health and viability of these games being released the way that they are so we'll see how this all shakes out moving on though to story number two split gate developer uh 1047 games announces layoffs shuts down original games comes from edmund tran at this week in video games split gate 2 developer 1047 games has announced that it will lay off an undisclosed number of workers amidst a significant shift in the studio's offerings.

22:31In a lengthy post on Twitter, co-CEOs Ian and Nicholas said they would reduce certain roles and shift our resources as the studio shut down servers for the original Splitgate and pull Splitgate 2 back to a beta state. Released in June 2025, 1047 says it released the free-to-play Splitgate 2 too early. We bit off more than we could chew, reads the statement. We rushed certain features, made some boneheaded mistakes, and most importantly, we didn't give you the polished, portal-filled mayhem you fell in love with. 1047 says the game will remain playable, but it will begin rebuilding major parts of the game while involving its community in more playtests.

23:06Regarding the shutdown of the original Splitgate, 1047 said keeping the title afloat was costing hundreds of thousands of dollars over the past couple years, and he wanted to prioritize on retaining staff. The studio previously laid off developers in June 2025 following the launch of Splitgate 2. So that was last month.

23:21Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Yeah. Goddamn. This is one of those things where it's like, this is why you don't talk shit. this is why you know not that like i don't think the fucking hat wearing on stage is a thing that leads to this but it definitely adds salt when your game when you're presenting your game as something that's going to save the genre as something that's going to like oh man fps games they aren't what they need to be like we're gonna make them great again like we're here to save it do all this shit right like a lot things that people would view as pretentious you do that and then this happens the next month like that's why you don't do that because you're gonna look like an asshole when things are all said and done it's a game of sentiment right and i feel like now more than ever when you're talking about these games that don't have the inherent built-in audience the call of duties fortnites etc etc roblox all that stuff right where it's just like they know that they got it and they're good because they have it and are sustaining it when you were trying to enter the field especially in a old school niche genre to some extent of like arena shooters right you need as much wins as you could possibly get to kind of build the narrative that you're worth a damn that your game is worth playing it's worth investing in it's worth paying for with your money and your time and the more chip damage you get of mistakes that sentiment starts to go down and i feel like when you have blunders like the um summer game fest situation that just gets more eyes on your thing that are critical and wanting to hate on your product right oh yeah and then when your product has things that are worth hating on when you're getting these bad headlines over and over the public sentiment overall is it's never been lower for split gate and that sucks which sucks because split gate great game great game super fun we me andy and mike had a really fun time playing the split gate 2 beta that we did like last fall and even before that like we played so much split gate one right like that was the the like summer before um halo infinite came out and like it was shocking to be playing a game that felt so true or at least like felt fun in trying to do the halo thing with a twist with the with the portals and stuff right and like that was such a fun time like we would we were split gate evangelists and i was ready to like for split gate 2 to you know at least root for it at least be like yo hey this is a game that i want to see win and like not that i don't want to see this game win still right like but everything is tinged with this like uh like you almost always want to make the joke and sure that is us in our bubble the type of games media that we are right and the type of chat that we have we all watch this thing together so we have this shared experience surrounding the game that is easy to dunk on right but i feel like that gets in the way of wanting to support these games wanting to support these like smaller ideas that again need communities to be viable or else you're wasting hundreds of thousands of dollars on servers where people aren't playing yeah uh which brings me back to the split gate one conversation like this is i go back and forth with the whole like games shutting down thing where i think it's objectively bad like i hate that video games shut down that things end up being in a place where it's like cool i can never play this thing again i understand servers i understand costs but also i don't understand servers and i don't understand costs in a way where i like i i have the question of how much money is spent on the split gate one servers you know what i mean like like i know it's there's a question for people hundreds of thousands over the last couple years that seem there's a cost money man shit costs money and i understand there's a balance to it that i totally don't understand but like i don't know it just saddens me to see a thing go away a thing that like we had so much fun with and now like the new thing is kind of struggling right So it's like, okay, cool.

27:10Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Now I just don't really have a split gate. Which sucks. Yeah, man. It's, again, tough times out there. And I feel like you've got to really, really, really make sure that you're making the right steps. Because taking the hat and all that stuff out of the conversation, the money's not coming in to support the game. Even here. Where it's like they need more money coming in to even be able to pay for the servers for people to play on to make more money. That sounds like foundationally there's a crack that needs to be fixed. and that's hard that's the whole challenge of this entire business right is like finding the equation that actually works and it's so rare these days that teams of this size can figure that equation out long term you know um and that that's you know you look at so many similar things like uh iron galaxy with rumbleverse yeah right it's like i think a fairly similar story different game genre different whatever but like i'd imagine similar size teams yeah i mean and like i mean we've had this multiple times in the last few years a few years like i look at a knockout city being an example of like great game and they put they pulled lovers they tried different things they went free to play they went into independent they did all these things and at the end of the day like they just had to call it after a while and be like all right we're moving on to our next thing um well the i forget what the game is called but it was like the shooter that just came out where like it's dark and all that shit chat remind me what that what that game is called but like that looks like it has a lot of potential right because it's a new idea it's capitalizing off of trends that are happening today as far as like the streamer type games and stuff that was like you know um like first person shooter type shit right like stuff that seems like it could have a good audience um yeah like i look back at the stories of studios that couldn't make that dream thing happen or couldn't make a certain type of game happen and like i think to as much of it is that as it is is um okay well you put out a great game the real battle is building your studio as something that can maintain that great game and continue to see it forward for over the course of years and that's where so many people fail yeah and like that's the shift that i want to see many studios figure out and make and like i think it's going to take a handful of small size studios medium size size studios to like figure out what that formula looks like to then help influence all the other ones because i'm tired of seeing these dominoes over and over again of like studio after studio being like okay we launched a great game shut it down pull it back into beta uh shut the studio down like yeah it happens way too much yeah we see the rest of this path yeah um we're gonna get to story number three after a quick word from old tim this episode's brought to you by mood let me tell you about the online cannabis company that's revolutionizing how we deal with life's challenges.

34:28Blessing Adeoye Jr.:and we're back by the way game i was thinking of midnight murder club from velen studios which fun fact published by playstation really yeah as i looked on their on i looked on their steam i looked on the playstation like they're published by playstation yeah fascinating and it's out in early access came out in march in early access i don't think they're they're not in full release yet but yeah there's the context i was looking for interesting story number three the nintendo switch 2 is the fastest selling gaming hardware in u.s history this comes from rebecca valentine at ign the nintendo switch 2 debuted in june to becoming the fastest selling hardware ever in the u.s shooting spending on games to new monthly records according to the monthly report from surkana uh spending on hardware was up a whopping 249 year over year thanks to the console's debut reaching 978 million dollars and greatly surpassing the previous monthly record from June 2008 of$608 million.

35:21Damn, that's crazy. Yeah. From$608 to$978. In total, the Switch 2 sold 1.6 million units in the U.S. during its launch month, beating PS4's previous sales record of 1.1 million in November of 2013. Unshockingly, it was the best-selling console of the month, both in terms of units and dollar sales. Across both Nintendo Switch platforms, Switch 2 exclusive Mario Kart World was the best-selling game of the month, followed by Cyberpunk 2077 and Rune Factory Guardians of Azuma. Hmm. Both of which launched alongside the new console. In fourth and fifth place, respectively, were Tears of the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild, followed by Street Fighter VI, Mario Kart 8.

35:59Blessing Adeoye Jr.:I know, right? Hogwarts Legacy, Bravely Default's Remaster, and Minecraft. Because Nintendo doesn't share digital sales numbers with Serkana, this chart may be missing some big sellers. For instance, we learned today that Delta Rune topped Switch 2 charts in digital sales in June, but with no physical edition and the game only costing$25, dollars it's missing from the dollar sales ranking entirely oh yeah let's go delta rune yeah rune factory huh i didn't realize rune factory had it like that i didn't either but i also think that when you look at this launch lineup like none of this besides that stands out as surprising to me because like obviously mario kart cyberpunk those were the big physical games being pushed right uh people like buying things with the new console um and that that works with digital as well they They just want new things to play.

36:43The fact that both the Zelda titles were also launch titles, I feel like kind of diluted the launch lineup a bit in a way that makes it simultaneously way less interesting than other console launches, but then also giving us exactly what we actually want, which is those games to run better. So yeah, I'm not surprised by any of those things. Mario Kart 8 making the cut, not surprising as well. That game's going to continue to sell and dominate. uh but yeah the rune factory of it all it's like i wonder where the drop-off is there because we're talking about mario kart followed by cyberpunk like is rune uh factory close to cyberpunk or do you think that there's like a pretty big drop i mean i couldn't tell rune factory is such a

37:23Blessing Adeoye Jr.:franchise i have just no understanding yeah i have no understanding of so like rune factory could be one of those games that's just like selling in the ether and because rune factory is always around like that's the thing is rune factory becomes white noise at a certain point because i always see the name rune factory you know what i mean like i'm looking through gaming news i'm watching these showcases and rune factory just pops up and i'm like oh that's a rune factory and then i move on with my life yeah secretly though rune factory is out here just raking in money yeah there's a raking in the cash like yeah maybe it's maybe somebody's in chat says big drop rune factory's niche like i don't know like maybe it's doing great maybe it's maybe it's just that the launch lineup was so thin yeah that is pops up in the top three maybe but yeah they're very interested in that for sure um and yeah i'm interested to see like what the actual nintendo numbers are going to be once they do their financial like quarterly reports um breaking everything down that will include the digital um sales as well as physical and all of that um and also just like continuing to actually put out titles for the switch like now that we are in a definitive post initial launch period and we're now in launch window right and we have that donkey kong bonanza kind of a bump that you know we got early sales numbers for this that were something if i remember correctly it was three times as much as tropical freeze but like half as much as mario odyssey oh i didn't know something like that um i saw that yesterday somewhere um so anyway like kind of like it's doing great but it's also going to be very interesting to see end of year like after word of mouth for the game and understanding of like what this donkey kong game is because it is a kind of not known factor at this point like i feel like it needs to be like a word of mouth of like yo it's the mario team yeah you know it's like the more general consumers this is basically your mario odyssey sequel i think like the positioning of it is the thing i'm even more interested in uh you know with mario car world having such a strong attachment rate yeah like and for nintendo first party sales being all about the attachment rate that nintendo first party titles have yeah when you release your second big original first party like grand game and it's the first single player action adventure platformer that you know people can get lost in or whatever right like i i'm so fascinated by what that how that factors into sales and like if that's enough to make this thing like skyrocket right when we're looking at switch sales being making up a number right like six million is dk bonanza gonna be four million or is it gonna be more like one million you know what i mean i do think the story of bonanza is going to be a more uphill battle than we saw with some of the switch one games just because of how unknown a quantity a 3d donkey kong platformer is but i think that the game of the year awards i think that the multiple 10 out 10 reviews and just the overall high on the game i think is going to over time like that game's going to continue to sell like i think that years from now donkey kong is still going to be a game that we are talking about when nintendo sales reports come up yeah i I think that it and Mario Kart World are going to kind of mature with the system and continue to sell.

40:26And then, yeah, we have Pokemon in just a couple of months as well. Mario Party Jamboree seems to kind of have been kind of a miss. But like that's also just I feel like there's second pillar of games with the Switch 2 editions that they're going to be dropping. Obviously, I'm way more excited for Kirby next month with the expanded for whatever the hell it's called. star-crossed world um compared to the jamboree tv or whatever the fuck they're calling god well

40:51Blessing Adeoye Jr.:to bring in the switch to hardware conversation right there was a quote in the article from matt piscatella that i like where they asked him what this means for switch to sales right he says what the launch of what what the launch sales of switch to primarily tell us is that they made a lot of switch to switch tos to sell at launch uh lifetime sales and launch sales of a console often do not correlate meaning that some consoles with small launches ended up doing incredibly well lifetime ps2 for example only sold 400k in its launch month while others with big launches ended up not doing as well lifetime since launch month demand is rarely satiated by available supply and it is certainly not a great sign when it is historically all we can really get a read on at launch is the confidence of the manufacturer to make so many units available and the ability of the supply chain to to get those units into market but having the biggest launch month sales for any video game hardware platform is a hell of a good start right i mean yeah exactly right i do think that uh it's it's way too early to tell like is if the switch 2 is going to be able to maintain the momentum i believe it's going to i i feel like there's in my opinion a very low likelihood that the switch 2 does not dominate over the next couple years and continue to rise in success and sales and a lot of that is just the sheer fact that we are starting to see the next wave of Nintendo games and they're they're delivering these products now and we're about to get follow-ups and sequels to so many different games and teams that we've cared about from the Switch generation and the timing just adds up having said that it is interesting that it doesn't seem like we're going to get a 3D Mario for a while 2D Mario like Wonder wasn't that long ago um we just got the Donkey Kong Bonanza and Mario Kart World we have a Pokemon not core generational game but like legends i do think they're they're seeing as a core title to an extent um but then it's like what do you follow that up with like we have metroid prime 4 and i'm not complaining at all this is an insane lineup like the fact that we are still due to get metroid prime 4 this year and there's no reason to expect that game's not going to fucking bang right um will it sell hella well probably not will it sell better than any other metroid game in history i would think so just because of sheer marketing excitement of wanting to play on a new system and the fact that it's also on switch one yeah um and that i also don't think there's that many metroid games that it would need to topple to to get those accolades um but how do you keep that momentum going like how do you keep people buying the system for years to come and to me the answer is third-party support and i am incredibly shocked at how dire that seems compared to how bullish i was pre-launch of the switch 2 are you do you agree with that i mean i i think the only part where i don't disagree but i'm just curious about is if the answer is third-party support because that's never been the the the case for nintendo as far as what brings people to the console but i'm with you as far as like how you get there because yeah like the last few years we've seen nintendo like put out releases that like would be the things that would theoretically like i know i don't want to jump too far ahead right but the jamboree tv um review roundup is later in the show and in reading the review specifically logan plans for you from ign it seems like that version of the game feels tacked on in a way where i don't understand why you didn't just hold jamboree and like lump in the jamboree tv stuff if you really wanted to sell the camera shit right and then like have that be a switch to native game like in the way that were that you know we kept talking about the four horsemen of the switch one like you know final year or whatever this year almost feels still horse mini in a weird way right like of course we got mario kart we got dk we got um metroid and stuff but there is the question of like yo how long is it going to be until the next 3d mario like you mentioned like we just got dk mundane like it's hard for me to visualize what year two for the switch two is going to look like but at the same time i think for me i think it's a and this is always the case for nintendo i think the generation is a marathon not a sprint right and so like if you can give me one or two titles a year that are like these are our money-making titles like this year we got mario kart and then we got bonanza which i think they're trying to turn into a money maker and i think that i think that they're probably gonna be successful in that if next year you can give me a either a animal crossing you know or maybe a zelda or like you know i poke like a new gen of pokemon like i think there are plenty of options there for nintendo to over time give us that drip feed of big games over the next seven years that are inevitably going to bring people in because they always bring people in i think on top of that so i i'm saying the third party stuff in terms of like how to in 2025 with this being the second generation of this nintendo console how for them to maintain the pace of the absolutely astronomical success of the switch one yeah i feel like that that would be the difference maker to just peppering even more releases and getting more people playing as i think the popularity of pc handhelds are rising i feel like it all just goes back to people want to put be able to play their games handheld right uh and being able to play it on the console if they want but i do think that like those are all different audiences that nintendo can tap into and serve i do think that the switch to additions is so fascinating because it's functioning in a way that none of us would have expected like none of us could have called this a year ago when we were like predicting how nintendo was going to handle switch one games playing on switch two right uh the fact that they're essentially re-releasing these games with some form of dlc or some form of extra mode is so nintendo uh it makes so much sense but now that we're actually seeing it in practice it's like all right cool they launched with both zeldas i was surprised by that yeah we now are at the point we have mario party which does seem kind of like we'll get to in a second but like a misstep right yeah um i'm excited for kirby i feel like that that's going to be great no matter what it ends up being pokemon za and metroid prime are just launching so i don't think the switch 2 edition needs a different mode it's just you know a different skew of a brand new game but the fact that there are heavy hitters like smash and animal crossing remaining for next year for the next wave it's like they're going to pad things out with that and that is going to be exciting for people they're like i'm not saying it's going to be exciting for every single person but that second round of people that are like i didn't buy a switch too because there wasn't i was waiting for more games to come out and i didn't want mario kart world whatever when they're like hey there's an animal crossing update they're like well now's the time i'm gonna jump in you know and that's going to get a lot of people and i imagine that's next year yeah i mean i'm i think i lean more towards this straight up new animal crossing like i know the theory is that like you know what they didn't do anything for this current one but i do wonder how much of that is hey we got another one around the corner and then also we want our animal crossing team to focus all the way on and on a new animal crossing because like that's going to be the thing like that's going to be something that's going to move units and keep people in i don't think we get through the switch two generation without both like i think that we're going to get another major animal crossing but nintendo would be fucking stupid to not double dip on new horizons like that's just like the sheer numbers man like that's just printing money barrett i feel like to me just i'm more leaning towards uh like a blessing of i think more immediate is a new one just because i feel like that should have been announced by now you know because i i feel like there's a feeling in the year that an animal crossing a new animal crossing is coming either next year uh 2027 and i just i don't know i feel like that's something you would announce at launch to get those people in already you know yeah but i mean to my point though of like they didn't need them because they had mario kart well i'm not launching with it but like uh at least like announcing that it's happening i mean there's still the rumor direct for july and like honestly i i expect to get if the next Nintendo Direct we get I imagine we're gonna uh have some answers of the next lineup of Switch 2 editions right god give me a Smash Ultimate Plus dude I feel like there's I really think that the likelihood of Smash and Animal Crossing it's very high like the fact that those games do not have the if they had the 4k patches or like just the you know the whatever patches yeah it'd be a different story but they don't that's weird yeah uh to not to linger on this conversation too long but to your third party thing i think a thing that's not to be overlooked is them partnering up with um from software uh to do duskbloods um which is huge like i think those are the things that could be very needle moving as far as how they work with the uh with third party because from the fact that as nintendo you're able to get a from software exclusive game like i understand it's multiplayer i understand this is this different thing but post elmring night rain it's like oh wait multiplayer actually does work for from software it turns out like turns out that studio is just like extremely talented and can make anything into magic um i i would be i would love to see nintendo do that more i would love to see nintendo do like a larian rpg you know what i mean like a baldur's gate type situation where it's exclusive to switch like what are the big developers that we can look at to go to help fill in more exclusives but you know yeah be able to up our numbers as far as what we can put out my side it's not even on the exclusive side it's just get the big third-party games them getting final fantasy 7 remakes going to be huge for them like i i predict that that game is going to sell very well on the switch too because that is going to be i'm sure that there is a huge amount of nintendo switch players that don't own the other consoles i know many of them and i know that they would love to play final fantasy but they can't and now they can't there's certain games that just fit in the nintendo ecosystem that they've been deprived of for a very long time and hopefully that'll start to open up and we know what's going to with elden ring and um final fantasy um in the chat it went away but uh hades 2 is another big one that is which i think is a horrible idea but it is yeah and like that's i think that will move units for them right like i think the only part where i split off from you is that like i think for the final fantasy 7 example i think that's going to sell well but i think it's going to be the people that already own switches that are that are going to buy it but i think if you want to move units you have to have the yeah yeah for sure for sure uh tim real quick just a quick question do you think gen 10 is switch to exclusive for Pokemon.

51:20Yes, I do.

51:21Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Oh yeah, they were having this conversation yesterday. I think it is. I also think it is. Yeah, we had two full gens on Switch 1 plus the two legends. That's four core games. And Pokemon Let's Go. Don't forget Let's Go. That's right. Yeah, no, dude, definitely. Yeah, it'll be Switch 2 exclusive. That'll be... I'll be surprised if we get Gen 10. Especially if it's, depending on how far away it is. let's say i'm guessing next year i mean gen 10 i again this is something that i'd bet so much money on just because we have so much history that shows that this would be the pattern february it will be their pokemon presents it'll be the actual day 30th anniversary of pokemon yeah they're gonna announce gen 10 it'll be in later november yeah right like i think that that's gonna be the the ride i'll put i'll put it at 80 that is gonna be exclusive it was like that 20 because it is nintendo it is pokemon they do want to just make money the fact that champions exists and like that's how it looks it is very much in that switch one um art style yeah i don't know that gen 10 is going to be dramatically different although stick with me here everybody i wasn't here yesterday this is getting a little fucking crazy all right yeah and like anytime i start getting crazy about uh pokemon company it's just like why would i do that why would i even put this out into the world but i do think it's a little interesting that after all these years they're finally doing champions which is the core battle hardcore vgc side of it um on mobile and pokemon home you're actually using all the pokemon using your four moves that uh the classic pokemon battles that we've known for 30 years yeah then you see pokemon legends are and the battle system is the same but just a little different there's a little bit more movement and placement that matters more like the anime interesting you look back at legends uh arceus and it's like all right cool they have the fucking strong style and defense style or whatever they're trying different things with the battle system it's the same battle system but little tweaks you know that you wouldn't be able to directly apply to champions which is the core game what if they're moving on for gen 10 like what if champions is coming out at this time because it is kind of like hey this will be the way to play with the old school type of system of combat going uh to the past and gen 10 going forward is going to be something oh i hope not something new i don't want that i don't want something new i don't want it keep it keep it i don't want it just give it make it traditional give me my four moves give it make it fucking turn based i want to use growl i don't want to use growl what the fuck fuck growl quick attack all right i mean tackle all right flamethrower fire blast i won the game i could i don't want that fucking new shit keep that the legends i could see it tim i know no were there any learnings or anything changed from legends arceus that we saw in um scarlet and violet not in the battle system because yeah that was more just the styles that we did everybody's booing me stop booing me i'm right the thing is we've had so many gimmicks right like every gen has some type of gimmick we had mega evolution we're coming back to that now with uh with za but we had um the z moves and we had the the terraforming which like i didn't like but like hardcore people into the actual uh competitive side like are into that stuff yeah i just feel like like we're at a point now that it could be time to put the bow on the 1100 pokemon we have have to function this certain freaking way and like the baggage but i also i know i'm crazy saying that i mean most i think most of the chat look sounds like they agree with you people seem to not be on my side well especially because when we're seeing games like turn-based games pop off in certain ways that are doing something a little bit different like a cleric scare uh like a uh like you're naming these games that are at least hardcore no i know i i know but they're also uh expanding like they're bringing in new people right and i think i think tim's on to something of not doing you know uh active stuff like that where you're parrying in a pokemon game or whatever sure but doing something that feels active in a turn-based kind of formula i could see them playing around with that in a mainline game yeah uh to to possibly bring in new people i think it's my i this is a total taste thing i'm not i'm not saying anybody's wrong in this i just prefer strictly turn-based than any sort of active thing like that's just me for like gRPGs in general right like let me take turns like let me think about it if i'm in a menu i don't want to see like a timer ticker ticking down and having me be like all right cool like i'm gonna fucking do this before they do like even actually no i love final phase 7 remakes that's a bad example but that's like one of the fewer examples that i like it in yeah yeah do we think it runs and looks better if it's switched to exclusive uh i mean this better yes but we're going disappointed we're going too long like on this like unfortunately no no no no i just i i want i wish we had all the time in the world because yeah of course i want to talk about this forever because like the thing with this is like i i'm with you bless like i'm not saying i necessarily want it but i i do want it for the sake of the preservation of pokemon and to get away from the pitfalls of a scarlet and violet like i think that you don't think you don't think pokemon's battle system is timeless well i think that it's based on something that is so old that and they've added so much to it with the amounts of these goddamn Pokemon that we're just at a point now that I think we kind of need a refresh shakeup to be able to have a better foundation so that the games can look better and run because right now it's like I feel like there's a ceiling for how these games have to function and look we're never going to get beautiful animations when we need to worry about animations for 1100 plus Pokemon and we just keep adding and adding and adding wait so what's your sorry i don't know i don't know what the solution are you saying like shave down on the amount or like i'm honestly i could be down with that i think that's the move gen 5 did it black and white we're like hey there's 150 new pokemon you're not seeing pikachus i don't mind that you know and i think that needs to be the move and it's going to rub people the wrong way uh to an extent but i also think that it would provide a new energy like create a new jump on point have it be entirely new pokemon and uh have it be a limited number of them even if it's not entirely new yeah ah man the pokemon fan base was gonna how does home can you bring uh does every game that connects at home can you bring in pokemon into that game or is it just they a hub they all they start to open it up and allow more and more throughout a game's life uh in these modern ones that's the whole dexit thing that happened with sword and shield where you couldn't have all the games on i forgot about dexit yeah it's a whole fucking thing man but it's again because i was i was wondering of like do we just uh move on from pokemon home move on from it no no no see that's the thing is pokemon home needs to just continue as it is i'm just like yeah that is the place that your decades of little partners like it's hang out forever and play this game this way uh and seven savant says i don't need all 1100 pokemon in the game and it's like you say that but many other people very loud people are like we do and that's what i'm saying we're just getting to a point where that's always going to be true do you need i guess what for what you're saying do you need that in the main line or can that just be legends because i do like i do like what you're saying i just i just don't know if it's possible i think the mainline games are unruly i think that we are at a point clearly that the games are breaking at the seams because they can't handle all of the things that they have to do is baseline and when they have to do all those things because of the way that the core game is all at the end of the day it has to work with the same pokemon that you played in the last generation, the generation before, and the generation before.

59:13We need a shake up in the core games. And it needs to be a clean split, but they're not going to do it. Maybe they will. Story number four. New report says Xbox's Fable may not release until 2027. This comes from Paul Tassi at Forbes. Fable may end up getting delayed even longer. The news comes from reputable Xbox insider Shepsel Nick, who said on the Xbox-era podcast that two sources have told him that Fable may not arrive up till 2027. Not that anything's going especially wrong, just that it's taking longer than they thought. You can join this with the statement from head of Xbox game studios, Craig Duncan, back when the original delay was announced.

59:47If you want to look at the delay headspace, which may happen twice quote, I just want to start with really excited, really excited about progress, really excited where playground are. We previously announced the date for fable is 2025. We're actually going to give fable more time and it's going to ship in 2026. Now, well, I know that not may not. Well, I know that's not maybe the news people want to hear, what i want to assure people of is that it's definitely worth the wait and i just have unequivocal confidence in the playground team last we saw fable was a trailer at the xbox game showcase in june of 2024 last year i opened up google sheets to our calendar and i put in a

1:00:24Blessing Adeoye Jr.:gamescast topic how to fix pokemon because we need to have so much more i want to talk about We need to have a conversation. We need to have a conversation about Pokemon. Regarding this, you know, like, it's, I mean, it's the quote from the great Shaquille O 'Neal. Delay your fucking game. And if you need to delay it, delay it. And then I'm going to dunk on you. And then I'm going to dunk on you. And then if you delay it too long and if you work too long on it, maybe it gets canceled. And I'm going to leave the heat. Shaquille O 'Neal. That's the thing, man. like on one hand oh man we're just so fucked dude i don't know and this thing is yeah on the other hand i'm at a place now with xbox where i'm like i don't even believe i'm seeing this game ever after you delayed perfect or not delayed after you canceled perfect dark perfect dark i don't i don't believe i'm gonna see this game i'll believe it when i see it yeah that's that's it for me jokes aside yeah real talk bless yeah what's the likelihood that we see fable release i don't know i genuinely i don't know genuinely genuinely i don't know genuinely right yeah god that's fucking scary isn't it yeah because i'm right there with you like i would say oh no it's gonna come but like why why would i think that like why would i believe that at all it's not being dramatic like really look at the team look at the cadence of how often we've seen this game i don't know yeah i i would love to rationalize and be like well it's playground games they're staple within the Xbox ecosystem they put out so many Forza Horizons and like that's such a big hitter for Xbox and like I don't think they'll close them down or anything like that or cancel their projects I don't know yeah I don't know I'm 70 30 you know I agree I'm there with you Super Mario Jamboree the story number five Switch 2 edition uh gets a TV I messed up every word I put them all in the wrong order first of all that's hilarious but also this I didn't realize this is the title of the game this is a ridiculous jamboree nintendo switch 2 edition plus jamboree tv that's a terrible video game title it's a terrible name uh this is a review roundup on metacritic it's at a 77 open critic it's at a 79 uh logan planton at ign gave it a 7 out of 10 saying super mario party jamboree is still the best entry in the series but the new content of the switch 2 edition re-release adds frustrating limitations and strange design decisions to what was otherwise a polished, customizable experience.

1:02:45Its camera-focused content is pretty forgettable, but there are a few worthwhile additions like the great mouse control minigames and interesting new rule sets. However, it's hard to enjoy them to the fullest due to how this content is divided across two separate versions that don't talk to each other at all. Core features like achievements, unlockables, minigame records, and even rule sets are locked behind the Switch 1 version, which shockingly got zero performance or resolution updates, like the Jamboree TV portion did. If the new stuff had been seamlessly integrated with the old Under One Umbrella, this would be a slam dunk.

1:03:14But as it stands, if you already own Jamboree, I only recommend upgrading if you're really interested in the new content. And if you're looking to buy Jamboree for the first time, it's not like you'll be disappointed by what's here. But the things that Jamboree TV hardly feel worth the price when you could just pick up the cheaper Switch 1 version instead. P.G. O 'Reilly at Nintendo Life gave it a 9 out of 10, saying that the horribly titled video game gives an already fantastic party game a huge shot in the arm with a bunch of brilliant mouse mode and mic-based games that also allow you to see your big silly face as you play.

1:03:41and then Jenny Lada at Silicon Era says it's an 8 out of 10. Super Mario Party Jamboree remains a solid game and I feel like the Nintendo Switch 2 edition plus Jamboree TV is a natural pickup for families.

1:03:51Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Earlier in the episode Tim you asked if Mario Party or sorry Mario Kart World and iWorlds 2 were the only two games announced for$80. This is$80. Man. This is$80 if you want the full package for Switch 2. Yeah. Now granted if you if you can rationalize it in your brain of like well you're getting a base game plus the DLC. And a different one. Yeah. i guess technically kirby as well switch two versions of zelda games as well 80 dollars yeah um i'm not just tears of the kingdom we're in a silly world guys we're in a really silly world oh yeah maybe that's hilarious but you can you can take notes now yeah it's all the notes it's all the notes um the i i was really bummed out uh listening to logan plant's uh i-gen review he does an excellent this logan plant guy he this guy man this guy this fucking guy man i i didn't know his game i love logan is a great reviewer he is a fantastic reviewer and he is very good at his job yes and so i watched his full ijen um you know review for jamboree tv and um just jamboree switch to edition and i was shocked to hear that there wasn't any there's not even a resolution bump for like the base uh jamboree game and everything yeah is in a different menu um have you gotten your hands on this yet i did very limited played around with it a bit and like it's cool i do like the the mouse mini games they're awesome and the the camera stuff it's as fun as it was in mario kart which is to say it's a blast at parties and stuff i was hanging out with my friends and we were just uh messing around jabberi tv not enough to do a full review or anything but like i i definitely was surprised at them being separated and um i i'm kind of with logan um the biggest thing for me is like no performance uh increases what are we doing here yeah that's bizarre what are we doing here again it brings me back to why did you this this was your third mario party game that you released on switch one like why not just hold it you know lump the jamboree tv experience into the core package and just try to get this place or get this game to a place where it feels like an original switch to title like that feels like such a weird if it's sold hella well i mean okay like that's the only thing is it's sold very well so like yeah you're right bless i'm with you that like it'd be a lot more exciting if this was a brand new mario party on a new console and like there's excitement around it but yeah it just kind of feels like all right we're just getting more of the thing that we just got and the new stuff feels i think the new stuff's good it's just not integrated well yeah so classic intent wnds man it's it's it's that one too where um this game comes out last fall and like i i played it with my friends once and i was like yo this game is fucking excellent i wanted to play it a lot more and i feel like it coming out toward the end of the generation post to mario parties like i feel like i would have gotten way more out of this with my friend and this is such a me problem but i feel like it probably translates to some people out there right like if this came out as like the switch to mario party i feel like there would have been a lot more juice we would have squeezed out of it yeah yeah i think you're right for sure for the us's of the world i think you're absolutely correct there um yeah and god we're running late i do want to say though uh-huh that i can't believe that a couple months ago me and you were in new york and we were watching the nintendo direct and we saw 4k 120 frames per second and it was like what for this nintendo yeah really and then here we are a couple months later i'm just like where the numbers at nintendo numbers where the numbers at huh it said it's 720p i ain't noticed many k's on this shit All right, Nintendo?

1:07:20Let's fucking figure this shit out. Story number six. Capcom is once again remaking Resident Evil 2. This comes from Zach at Kotaku. If there's one thing I know about Capcom, it's that the publisher just loves remaking Resident Evil 2. And now it's doing it again. RE2 Deadshot is a new arcade reimagining of the 2019 Resident Evil 2 remake. On July 22nd, IGN reported that an arcade cabinet for RE2 Deadshot had been spotted by fans in Namco's Funscape Arcade in the UK. RE2 Deadshot is an on-rails light gun shooter that splits RE2's story into five different episodes. The arcade cabinet is an early version of the game that's being tested by Capcom.

1:07:55And developers Namkai Bando. What did you say?

1:08:01Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Namkai Bando. That sounds like a Star Wars character. Fucking gunslinger. Hangs out with Han Solo on the weekend. Namco Bandai. Ahead of a wider release. Think of it like beta testing. IGN sent someone to play the arcade port of it and grab some footage of the game in action. You're seeing that right now. No release date's been set, but if they are testing it publicly already, I'd expect a full route to more arcades coming in the near future. I fuck with this. I mean, how can you not fuck with this? I mean, first off, it looks awesome. Second off, I love that arcade games just show up one day and it's like, oh, this is a thing.

1:08:34This is happening. But yeah, RE and its dumbass B-movie-ass plot combined with light gun shooting, what could go wrong? I'm surprised that didn't already exist. It did. Umbrella Chronicles on the Wii. It was awesome. That's what I played. And there was another one, too. But yeah, this looks great. Cool. Get more juice out of RE2. I love it.

1:08:54Blessing Adeoye Jr.:I love going to an arcade and seeing an arcade version of a game that I know that I didn't realize exists. It happens. Like, any single time I go to a new arcade, I'm like, Luigi's Mansion? Yeah. Another Need for Speed? Oh, shit. Let's go. Oh, man. Damn. If RE2 made it to the Dave & Buster's arcade that's near the studio, that'd be huge. That'd be gigantic. We'll have to wait and see, though. But if I wanted to know about something really goddamn tiny, where would I look? You'd go to our last news story, the We News Channel, where we cover all the small news items you need to know about. It's true.

1:09:27I had a dream. Yeah? Not last night, but recently.

1:09:32Blessing Adeoye Jr.:It sounds like you're about to go with the Martin Luther King speech. Similar, but a little different. Duck Hunt. 99. You got the mouse mode. Oh, shit. I woke up in the middle of the night like, How did that even work? I'll be a millionaire. I'll be a millionaire. I had a dream last night that I was reviewing DK Bonanza. And then, like, it was a gamescast. I was going to give my score. But then before I could give my score, you, like, interrupted me. And I never got to give my score. And then it transitioned into a live reaction. And then Sonic Cross World Racing, whatever the fuck that game is, came up on the big, like on our back wall, and we were like watching the reaction.

1:10:12Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Like we're like watching the gameplay on the back wall instead of the monitor that we usually do. And that was the dream. I woke up and I was like, man, I just, I work too much. Too much, everyone. We news for you from Noble. The PS5 system update beta announced, which lets you pay your DualSense across multiple devices. Very cool for people like me. They also announced PowerSaver for games is coming in the future, which is very interesting. Very interesting. You can allow your PS5 to run in a lower power mode and have the settings of the games kind of adjust accordingly. Why would they be doing this?

1:10:43Why would they need this? For a potential portable device, Bless? Oh, I didn't even think like that.

1:10:50Blessing Adeoye Jr.:We should call you the thinker. From VGC, Square Enix confirmed that they lost the code for Fallen Fantasy Tactics PS1 version and that the remake is made from scratch. Wow. Square be doing this shit, man. How did they lose all the code to Kingdom Hearts? How the fuck did they do that? It's a different time. Scottish Silent Hill developer NoCodes changed his name to Screen Burn. Apparently, there was a quote in the story that said we have coders now. Yeah, good for them. According to Alinea Analytics, Forza Horizon 5 is the highest selling game on PS5 this year with over 3 million copies sold.

1:11:23It's fucking cool.

1:11:24Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Hell yeah. Hell yeah. What a game. What a game. What a damn game. From Noble, some Ubisoft rumors. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six. Ubisoft numbers. Numbers. I don't know was wrong with me today. I mean, you're back. You were on vacation. I've been gone. Yeah. I've been in a river for days. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege X underperformed due to technical pricing issues. Hmm. Assassin's Creed Shadows delivered on expectations with over 5 million unique players. Cool. Cool. From Insider Gaming. Nope. First. Borderlands Force coming to Switch 2 on October 3rd. Nice. Okay. That's cool. Yeah. There's some third-party support.

1:11:59There you go. It's happening. Yeah. That actually is very good to see because I don't think that that was a pre-Switch 2 launch, I would have been like, for sure. After Switch 2 launch, I would have been like, I don't know.

1:12:09Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Didn't we see it? We've known Borderlands 4 is coming to Switch, right? I don't know. I don't know. I might just be talking. I could not care less about Borderlands. I mean, that too. From Insider Gaming, Julian LeFay, the father of the Elder Scrolls, has passed away. That sucks. Yeah, sad news. Last week, Julian LeFay stepped away from the industry to be with his family as his battle with cancer came to an end. It was announced earlier today by those close to him that LeFay has passed away, age 59. In 1987, Le Fay started working at Bethesda Softworks, contributing an immense amount to the first Elder Scrolls game.

1:12:39He wrapped up his involvement with the Elder Scrolls with Morrowind before departing Bethesda in 98. His passing is being mourned worldwide by fans of the franchise.

1:12:48Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Rest in peace, Julian Le Fay. Yeah, legend. That's it for Wii News. Also, chat is reminding me that Rainy Pitchfair did show up in the Switch 2 Direct, which I should have remembered. Yeah, you got jump scared. Yeah, it happens every single time. There's a lot going on. uh but cool that's good uh we do have some super chats i'd like to get to real quick billy stefan says story number one is tim's hair there we go uh ed reed fan says first time paying the birthday tax happy birthday mr ed reed uh i don't think that's your name that's a baseball player isn't it yeah he's a fan read fan all right yeah what's up with you today what's going on i would need you to get it together no all right this is the first show of the day i need you to get it together by games it's not my last uh violet says also ed reed is a football player why is he wearing a baseball hat this is a little fucking duck here um i can't stop listening to the fantastic four first steps main theme i can't wait to hear it intertwine with the avengers theme one day dude i'm right there with you i'm watching that movie tonight and i can't freaking wait to hear the music uh violet says tim i'm four moons away from all of them in mario odyssey that is wild oh yeah one day i want to do it yeah go to odyssey because yeah i'm going through uh bonanza and i'm going to 100 the game like i am well on my way to getting all the bananas i'm like i'm having a freaking blast doing this and i'm like i was never compelled to do that in odyssey and i want to i tried and i just i just could yeah there's just so many moons and it's there's not like a way they don't have like a i don't know like a metal detector to tell you where the moons are right like it's not like zelda where you have your shrine detector whenever you get close to one and so mario you just gotta fucking butt pound everything yeah is that the word ground pound yeah i like butt pound i don't like butt pound i take that back i apologize so sander says r.i.p prince of darkness yeah man ozzy osborne wild oh yeah rest in peace uh david devinster says i'm gutted and heartbroken about ozzy's passing i've celebrated his music and have such a strong bond with my dad because of it.

1:14:50Lots of tears over the past 24 hours. Thanks for the distraction, KF.

1:14:53Blessing Adeoye Jr.:Yeah. Between that and Theo, like God. What an upsetting 24 hours of news. Science Dog says Brand It Power. That dude blew it with that hat. Brand It Power. That dude blew it with that hat. Made me not want to check it out. I get what you're saying, but I don't know exactly what you're saying. Brand It Power. That dude blew it with that hat. Well, I know the hat as the the fps had yeah branded power i don't know we get the sentiment uh i'm not gonna lie i thought he was talking about you during the ad read i was trying to figure it out i was like what's he trying to tell us dread he says i just seen fantastic four it's fantastic in s-tier marvel in my opinion best superhero film this year sorry greg excited for the doomsday potential i'm excited uh kumababom says what happened to tim's hair in the ad i pushed real hard he pushed hard uh kabob says is it safe to say that mario kart world is not replacing mario kart 8 deluxe uh no i don't think so i think that mario kart 8 deluxe is going to continue to sell forever i don't think mario kart world's going to sell as much as 8 deluxe but i also i think the dlc could really change the game there hear me out the switch 3 comes out and we get mario kart world deluxe does it outsell then i don't know that the deluxe is the determining factor there probably not but maybe who knows and maybe out of jamboree tv mode uh bgt says if anyone needs to switch to best buy has them now uh tc says does the fastest selling system speak to how great the system is or nintendo's ability to mass produce units the lack of games upon release is why i canceled my reservation it took months to be able to buy a ps5 i mean i think it's for sure Nintendo's like their ability to mass produce but also their confidence in the thing right you don't produce that many numbers if you don't think you're gonna like sell that sell that many so I think it's more of a canary in the coal mine more than anything I also just don't understand how we could be here now a month after the release and be like the lack of games upon release is like a problem it's like clearly they sold this thing out and it's like it's selling it's like this is good yeah for Nintendo put out games when more consoles are out so that you could sell more copies of the software yeah you know this goes back to my conversation of like feeling weird about reviewing the switch to in the first couple of weeks because like really the determining factor is going to be more so like maybe first six months first year first seven years right and like i i understand people being like man it doesn't feel like there's a lot of games on this thing in launch bunch launch launch month because i feel that too but also i think they made the right business decision because yeah like they're selling switch twos like hotcakes and now you're gonna have a drip feed of games come out maybe once a month or so over the course of the next however long and when we're looking back in december it's not going to feel empty we're going to be like oh we got curvy air riders or whatever it's called and we got you know the mario kart world and the legend of zelda um like dynasty warriors game and all this shit right like we're pokemon yeah i think that's going to be beneficial in the long run um all right let's get to your wrong to see what's going on here a lot from yesterday um you know i was thinking about this morning watching the jamboree tv review i was thinking back to our conversation of what we wanted to see from team isobi and i feel like they'd make a party game i feel like they make a really good party game damn that's actually a really good call i feel like it could be different and stand out because of them how they would use the dual sense and everything like that could be really That could be really fun.

1:18:23Blessing Adeoye Jr.:And also, they just have a good mind for mechanics and unique things that you're doing from scenario to scenario. Tundra Boy says three other Resident Evil titles were light gun games that used the PlayStation Gun Con, Resident Evil Survivor, Resident Evil Survivor 2, and Resident Evil Dead Aim. Interesting. Going back to the Dead Aim title here. And also, shout out to the Gun Con. What a cool name for a gun. It's a gun. It's a controller. It's everything you could ever want. And this show has been everything you ever needed. Kind of Funny Games Daily. We hope you liked it. And if you want us talking about more video game stuff, guess what?
