0:38Ross Halls:hello everybody it's me roscoe and welcome to another kway live and we're here today joined by good old alex jones to react to the itchristown 2026 2027 home and away kits of course town returning to the premier league under a new era with a gary o 'neill and the kits are out and there was leaks but the club have done very well because those leaks were wrong and these kits are very nice indeed get involved in the comments down below if you listen to this after the live show i hope you're doing well and hope you've enjoyed the kits as well aj coming my friends um we were had the privilege we can't speak the privilege of seeing them yesterday and we've got some video reaction that's out there that you guys can watch very shortly um so we've seen them already but now we're here to react to them where they're out there in the pilot domain your thoughts on them my friend just how are you i'm really good thanks yeah we we were uh invited to go and see them as you said yesterday uh there was a little clip that we put up about well we're recording minutes after the launch we put this up about half an hour ago where um well we thought we were about to discover the kits and maybe we weren't quite about to get that with a nice bit with Mark and Stu, so go and check that out.
1:58And in a few minutes' time, round about quarter past, we'll have a little video looking in-depth at the shirts that we got to have a look at. Of course, the Away one, very similar, based off the one that you are currently wearing, Ross, the 1996 Away shirt, isn't it? I really like that one. I really like the Away one, as you'll get to hear when I talk about that one. And I love everything about the kits and what we've seen so far and the story behind them. But, yeah, we can talk through both of them and what we like and maybe what we maybe don't like and things like that. But I'm a big fan of these.
2:33Ross Halls:Yes, my friend. Yeah, the away kit has sort of grown on me. When I first saw it, I was very much like, yeah, it was fine. But, yeah, that was a very good trick the club put on definitely Stu and Hefe because they're obviously preparing to open it up and stuff. And then out of nowhere, it was basically one of the darts shirts that were selling in the club shop. But let's bring up the kits then. And we're going to do this here. We're going to do this picture. Maria Boswell, Cedric Kippuray, Leith Davis and Paige Peake, obviously the women's team. But here it is, my friend, in all its glory. Of course, I'm going to get the comments.
3:09Ross Halls:Oh, the set looked beautiful, innit? To be fair, all the players look good, innit? I think, once again, when you see it, you know, on the players who are going to be wearing it week in, week out on the football pitch, it just pops out more. Let's start, though, my friend, with the home kit. This is the one that's going to be used more than all of them because it's home and blue and stuff like that. But let's get this picture up here of Leif Davis, Cedric Kiprae, and it's for Meti. It's got a nice little diamond effect. And this is just beautiful and clean. Once again, you can't do too much with blue, can you?
3:40Ross Halls:There's not many times you can sort of change it up. But in the last few years, it's been a bit like, they've been fine. Last year's was fine, but this one really stands out for me. your thoughts on this my friend I love this, I really really like it I think that when I think of the perfect way of approaching kits I'd like a very sharp and simple home kit, you can push the boat out a little bit more with the away and then sometimes with these third kits you can have the weird and wonderful wacky designs and I like that idea and I feel that, obviously we don't know what the third kit will look like at this point but I feel like the way that Ipswich are approaching it will follow that pattern this blue kit i really like it i i love the uh design on the pattern as you see uh with that photo you put up there the pattern of it the kind of diamond shape is based off the white parts at the top of the stands which looks really really nice there's a little close-up there just to get a proper picture of that um that's what it's inspired by which i think is fantastic i love the kind of the trims the collar it's a really slick design as we've said it's not like the uh leaks i think it's much better than any of the leaks the well quote unquote leaks that we've seen um it's so smart i love the little white white dash down the side i think it pairs really well with the shorts and as well we i think that when when you see it on players as well i mean we got to see it and as i said that video will be up uh in a few minutes to go and see uh kind of our thoughts of holding the shirts getting to see them unboxing the shirts when you see them on people and on the players.
5:19Even when I got to see the shirts on you and Mark yesterday, you get a proper feel for it. I really like it. It's really slick. And there's only so much you can do with blue and white. It's hard. Unless you're going to really tear things up and go from scratch, and that can upset a lot of people as well, then it's really difficult to find the right balance of how to take on these kits. I think the club have done it really well. I know from speaking to people yesterday, how important that was to kind of do that. Yeah, it's great. It's obviously got a great story behind the launch as well. And this is certainly for the Home Kits, one of the strongest showings in the last few years.
6:01Ross Halls:Yeah, for me, it's beautiful. And Heathie said in the video we've done stunning. I think the Gary O 'Neill behind the scenes of his first day, I think it's Paul Macro, who's sort of the main man behind the kits and he sort of said it's stunning because it is very stunning i'm very big fan of the home kit um i'm just gonna bring up a few comments aj um as we uh then move on to the away kit um good old jake who will play seven aside with hello boys wasn't too sure on either kit on the video but the store photos make them look lovely once again that's the first view when you see them first you're like they're fine and then once again when you see them in person and you sort of look over them and you see them in proper light black and white they look very nice indeed Hannah's gone love them both Samuel away kit is great which we'll get onto very shortly Jake also went said looks delighted once again you know sometimes when pitches they just that's what they've been told to do no smiling it is often that is often a thing I mean I don't know if any of you guys have seen the West Ham kit launches for example I don't like that kit at all they've got poor Jared Bowen in that who genuinely looks like he's in a hostage situation so I can appreciate that don't look like players' reactions.
7:15It's often how they have to be. And it might even look a little bit weirder if you've got someone with a beaming smile wearing the kits, because it's got to have that kind of serious feel to it with the launch. And I think it works quite well, yeah.
7:27Ross Halls:Got another picture of Big Set actually here. And yeah, he's a model though, isn't he? He's a beautiful man, Cedric, and he just looks good in this away shirt, which will segue us. He'd look good in anything. To be fair. Sean went, very nice home kit. away one will grow i think which on on the same i think once again i'm wearing the 1996 away shirt the year i was born someone also mentioned um adrian went ross on the kit you're wearing has always been my least favorite but i think this new one close second really not my cup of tea which is gonna i think once again i think it will cross the divide with some people some people will love it straight away i think it'll just grow um let's bring up though aj a picture of it um with this is maria boswell on the with the home kit and then page peak is wearing um the away kit and you've got the black um shorts as well um you love it my friend you went 9.5 i really like it yeah um i i went high on the rating why um i didn't really know what to expect with this because there were there were no leaks of this but let's be honest there were talks about uh the away kit for this year matching the the 19 or being inspired by the 1996 kit so i kind of got to familiarize myself with it and i didn't really know how to expect it and it looked again a lot kind of cleaner than i thought it might have done it is really slick it's really well designed really well balanced i think that again it can be difficult to find the right pattern of colors that don't look too kind of overwhelming don't look like a bit like a bus seat or something like that um and i just think it looks like i love the badge i love the balance of the color i love the navy um that kind of goes really well on the cream and then the fact that the red allows things to stand out so much within that i think that the lines work really well uh obviously it's different to to the actual 1996 kind of pinstripe look uh with these being horizontal lines but i just think it's got such a nice pattern to it again when you then see it on players it just works so well it is one of my favourites I really think that and I think that a lot of the kits especially since the time I've covered Town when I think back to we had the orange kit didn't we we had what we had from the last couple of seasons obviously last year's was red that was quite strong vibrant what was the Premier League season one remind me what was the colour pink was it the third one that was pink was the third oh burgundy it was burgundy oh the burgundy one which was okay I liked it that's my colour yeah that's fair And I like that it's different, and to me, it just looks a little bit more slick.
10:08I think the balance of the colours, as I've said, works really, really well on this shirt, and I'm a big fan of that. So, again, credit, as you mentioned as well, to Paul Macro for what I believe has been a really big input into these kit designs. He's kind of, I think, been right at the heart of this. We got to meet him yesterday and hear about the story behind the kits and the actual kits, see all of those. And he spoke to us as well about how difficult it can be to do these things because you see them in the CAD, the computer-aided design software. And until you actually see it on someone, it's really difficult.
10:42It's almost like you're working blindfolded in a way. So, yeah, really, really like this shirt, I think. And I mean, look at the reactions that we're getting in the comments, to be fair. I know there are some people, and you don't have to love it. You might not like the original kit. You might not like the balance of the colors. but I think that more than anything, the response to these kits has been really, really positive.
11:04Ross Halls:Yeah, very much. Once again, I think they're always going to be a grow, and I think people will like it when they see it in person and when they buy it and stuff like that. I'm going to bring up some more comments, and we'll discuss a bit more. Actually, before we get into that, I want to bring up sort of the close-ups and talk about Halo, who, of course, are a local Suffolk company based in Stone Market, a sort of tech giant. And once again, I think kits can be ruined because of the sponsor. But this is just perfect on both the home and the away. I think it really stands out. Once again, as well on the away kit, the punch on the Itchwich badge, I think that looks beautiful as well.
11:41Ross Halls:It really pops out. We're very lucky, aren't we, really, with the badge we've got and then the sponsor. It does really pop out. And yeah, the Umbro. Another year with Umbro. Of course, we've been with them since that League One promotion season. and I'm just trying to go back now and think the away kit, is this the best one of the Umbro deal so far? I think it's probably up there. I did like the red and black. Wow, yeah, that was a nice one. They were a strong set of kits those weren't they? Yeah, the orange one in the promotion to the Premier League first time around. I think that's we've obviously always had orange.
12:17Ross Halls:We've had success with orange kits but this probably is up there and of course it's been inspired by this kit here and it's once again you can sort of see the badge it's the same um good old punch was there there of course you haven't got the buttons on this one and the collar um but yeah i think well as i said when i first saw it i was like yeah that's nice and it is growing on me every time i see it and i think when i see it in the flesh take my snappy snaps i think i'll probably yeah fall in love with it and i'll probably get it i don't get many kits these days it's difficult change from yesterday or us yeah honestly it changes it can easily change like that so um let's bring up a few more comments aj um peter michael here both kits are nice prefer the home shirt out of the two which is fair enough 80 uh i need convincing on the home kit looks like last season when you first see it i like the away kit the thing is with the home kit it's blue and yeah some people jokingly say even my missus she goes what's the point why do you get new kits it's like it's going to be the same blue.
13:18Ross Halls:It's just going to be, what's the point? But yeah, I like it. And yes, I love that the club is supporting Brats Root in Suffolk, which is very good to call on that. Should we, I think that might be worth touching on as well, just talking through that, which I think is a really important part. So what the club have done with this kit launch has been obviously a lot of the budget will go into the kit launch and trying to promote that. And what you'll see with what Ipswich have done is it is a lot more low key this year. and that is because they've looked at the local community and put a lot of, I think, the marketing budget into helping out the local community as part of this kind of us and our people launch.
13:58Of course, the famous quotes from Dara Shea ahead of the Norwich game, the 3-1 win against the Canaries at Portman Road back in October, that would have been. And yeah, the tweet from the club, us and our people. The club has worked with the Suffolk FA to offer all 115 registered grassroots youth football clubs in the county a grant to cover the cost of a full kit for one of their teams for the 2026-27 season. At the time of launch, more than 70 have accepted this offer, with the process still open and more expected to follow. This represents a significant commitment from the club in support of the rich grassroots football scene in the county and embodies the meaning behind the us and our people mantra, which has become important to the club and signifies the connection between the players on the pitch and the community of Ipswich and Suffolk.
14:48And I think that's so important. When you look at what Ipswich means, you heard about Gary O 'Neill talking about the fact that you can't just be kind of a football manager. You've got to really represent the club and these players represent the club. And O'Shea, who obviously said those comments, represents the club. and now getting that reflection within the kit launch, within the support for the community and for grassroots, I think is really nice. I think it's a fantastic touch on the launch. Obviously a bonus that the kits are so nice as well, but I think that kind of the story behind how they wanted to approach these has been excellent.
15:25Ross Halls:Definitely, my friend. And I've just been seeing a lot of comments about the goalie kits, so I'm going to get those pitches very shortly and we can talk about those, AJ, because goalies, you can't forget about them. they've also got kits that are right up there but i'm just going to bring up a few more comments because some really nice ones out there let me just quickly get rid of some that i've already put out so um do not worry we have gone through them as steve good old steve um it said i feel sorry for my wallet yeah uh today's a day where you're like yeah i'm probably going to buy the kit um which is good matt went looks great steve got a nice little story here actually the away kit is at 97 96 steve i think we had it for two years um you're wearing ross i got gifted to buy the club in hospital when I was recovering from neck surgery to wear a John Walks testimonial.
16:10Ross Halls:Big man came and saw me. Love that story. And George, when the weight kit is too good to wear it down at goals. Yes, George, I Lancaster play five-a-side with and sometimes seven-a-side as well. And yeah, I don't know. Once again, this is difficult to play in because even now I'm sweating because it's just the material of it a little bit. But I think the one I wore yesterday felt really nice and comfortable. so um yeah definitely up there um but yeah aj you've really done sort of your you did 9.5 rating for the away kit i don't know if you did your home kit did you do a rating i didn't i so my my i went really high on the away kit and i really like seeing it uh as again you can go through and see me kind of unbox the away kit hold it up look through it um i was really a big fan of it it was also helped by the fact that stew went quite high on on the blue kit and i liked I like the away more than the home, to be honest.
17:04So that's kind of why I went really big on it. I certainly think it's in that bracket. I think it's a lovely shirt. With the home shirt, as I've said, I definitely have it in the kind of eight and a half. I know as someone who does player ratings, essentially for a living, giving 0.5s is probably a sackable offense, but it's shirts, so I don't care. But yeah, I think that they definitely fall into that bracket of real top-end, top-quality shirts, when you go through, and I'm sure ahead of the season you'll have these websites that will rank all the Premier League kits. I think the Ipswich ones will be really highly ranked.
17:40I think they're brilliant. I'd have them right up there. Worth as well touching on the fact that you can go get these shirts now. Of course, the shop, I think, has been open since quarter past three, so I think you can go down there, try them on, see them in person. They're also on sale on the club shop. I think they're doing next day delivery at the moment. So the shirts, you can get the short-sleeve shirt to 65. Long-sleeve shirt is 69. and the shorts are 29 socks if you want them just to go full kit uh 15 and i believe that's the same yeah for home and away um i really like the black shorts actually the more i look at them the black shorts on the away kit really nice uh yeah if you go on there you can see uh leaf davis modeling the home kit and um i don't know if we have a photo of marcelino nunez modeling the away kit as well on there looks very slick um and uh i've had a little look at the goalkeeper ones as well goalkeeper home and the web and actually get both uploaded.
18:32Let's have a look.
18:33Ross Halls:They're very jazzy. Maybe too jazzy. You can't have a goalkeeper kit that's too jazzy. No, but that is very jazzy, my friend. Unfortunately, for me, that looks like a bus stop. A bus sort of old back in the day. Yeah, a little bit. Have you seen the Bristol City ones that they've released in the last few years? No. They look like kaleidoscopes. I think Wickham have had the same pattern. Go for it. You know what as well with the goalkeeper kits, in the same way that I spoke about home kit, be slick, away kit, you can push the boat out more. With your goalkeeper kits, you can go a little bit insane.
19:08So, yeah, you flashed up a poo there. So the first one's kind of a light bluey turquoise with this kind of – I'm not really sure how you'd describe the pattern, but it's got a bit of kind of yellowy outlining, like a yellowy green outlining. I think when I look at it there, it's more yellow, but when you zoom in, it's not really. It's closer to a green. and then the purple one, if you can take that one on. There you go, Ross. Yeah, I really like that one, actually, with the same pattern and the kind of – they have got this kind of – it's a bit of a mix there, so it's not a main black outlining, but it's also got what looks like, again, that kind of highlighter yellow that goes over the top of it.
19:47You can't see it as strongly in that photo, but when you go into the club shop, for example, you can see it quite a bit stronger. So I really like the colors. I love the, I mean, I love both of them, to be honest, in terms of that. I see what you mean on it being quite a strong design, but I like it. I like it.
20:07Ross Halls:Once again, I need to see it in person. And yeah, from that first viewing, I'm like, too jazzy. But I think they'll still be, you know, people will still want to buy them because, you know, goalkeeping kits are the rage these days. To be fair, my niece, even my mum wanted the last year's purple goalkeeping kit. I think that was really good. club. Don't know about these ones straight away. Once again, I think in person I'm looking forward to seeing Christian Walton wearing it and potentially new goalkeepers. Funny enough, there was a comment. Let me bring it up. If I can find it. Andy went, I bet these shirts look even better with new signings in them.
20:47Ross Halls:Yes, hopefully they will be soon. I think, yeah, obviously Itchwich Town women's team, they've been announcing a lot of signings and they've just been in just the Itchwich Town range from the club shot but now you can actually have the new signings for the men's teams in the new kit so um i like that uh a few more comments i'm just gonna bring up here um eric here away long sleeve looks super must buy for me steve again i love that this year's awake it's such a throwback to that era that exactly the early days when i was following the town as i was born the year this came out in 1996 so i'm big free this year so um that'll be my i think my birthday present please somebody if you fancy.
21:27Ross Halls:If my family don't buy it for me, then someone else can do it. James here. I think the Orange and Burgundy away kits were my favourite of the last year's. This year's away is lovely though. As I said, I think, yeah, this is definitely, sorry, this season's coming up. I think he's definitely up there as our best away kit in the Umbrough era in recent times. So, yeah, it's going to be, I don't know if it's going to be, it's not going to be as big a seller as the pink away kit. I think that was really massive, wasn't it? The blackout kit as well. But I think there still will be a... There are both third kits, right?
22:02Ross Halls:Yes. So we've still got... I think... I'd imagine the plan is that there will be a third kit to come. We'll have to wait and see on how things go. But obviously the last few years, Ipswich have released third kits around October time. I think maybe the pink Premier League one came a little bit earlier than that. But yeah, I'd imagine that we'll get those ones. We obviously had the grey one last year. So I'm interested to see what patterns they go down. Again, one of the things we were told yesterday when we went to go see these kits is that they have to be, especially I think in the Premier League, the restrictions are much tighter.
22:34So you have to create three kits that could all play against each other, which I thought was an interesting little bit to learn about. So it's going to have to be something quite strongly different from the home kit and the away kit this year, the cream kind of colour and the blue, obviously, for the home. Interesting to see what colours on the palette are left to differentiate there. But yeah, I'm sure we'll find that one out later this year. But definitely a nice variation between the two shirts here.
23:02Ross Halls:I may have missed it when you said it because I was going through the comments and images. Have we said about the Ed Sheeran? No, we haven't. That's a good point. Was it Tingley Ted? Yeah, that was last year's, but now it's his play, his new tour. So that looks good as well, actually. Let me bring up a picture if it shows in one of these. I think it looks better. You can kind of see it on Anis there. I think it looks better, and I don't want to come in and disrespect Tingly Ted's at all. I wasn't a massive fan of that shoulder patch. It looked a little bit weird. It looked a little bit dodgy, almost, in a way, with the shape of it.
23:42I think this looks a lot, again, it looks a lot cleaner. I don't want a kit that looks very slick. I feel like I've used that word to death in this live, but I think that just works so nicely, doesn't it? And it's great, obviously, still to have that edge here and involvement on the shirt, even if it's on the sleeve, because having his kind of connection and his support with the club, I think is really important. So delighted to see that too.
24:05Ross Halls:Definitely, my friend. I'm going to put you on the spot here, but I'm going to give you some time to think about it as I bring up the last few comments. What is your one word to describe the home and the away kit? So have a little think as I just go through the comments here. J &D, shut up and take my money which I'm sure a lot of people are saying but I know there was actually apparently queues at Planet Blue prior to them opening up the store and I'm sure right now some people already got that kit and they already have taken pictures in it and they're really enjoying the kits and let me bring up the other one Colin went, Ross Everett's Town kit is beautiful mate Colin, there's been some bad ones I fought last year's away kit Magical Vegas In the 2010s, we had some really bad ones.
24:49Ross Halls:And we've had a few bad ones. But I get your point of view. It's an issue with Township. You love it because it's your team. But we've had some bad ones. All right, my friend. Home kit. How to describe it in one word.
25:07One word. I've gone with the home one. I've used slip too many times. Clean. Clean is the way I go about it. 100 % away kit and I just want to point out as well so I on the video I said 9.5 and that video will be live now so you can go check that out I said 9.5 there's my rating on there Ross Ross laughed Ross was shocked yet however Aidy Croucher from Stowmarket I believe from Stowmarket has said 9.5 for me for the away kit and Colin Colin said 10 for the away kit but he likes every
25:41Ross Halls:kit though he likes every kit he's just he's just saying it all right all right yeah every kit's 10 you know what after you said that yesterday i went back and i was like oh my god have i kind of been brainwashed by the fact that i was like so we did this video and i was holding up the kit and i was reviewing it we had obviously everyone from the club who was watching us record these videos i was thinking have i been kind of like subconsciously pushed to go big on a kit that people aren't going to like people really like it so i feel a lot better for that because i was worried last night that people would watch this video and go what the hell is aj on about yeah really happy and that's why ross my one word review for the away kit is gorgeous i love it i think it's really good so yeah clean for the home and gorgeous the away kit yeah as i said i think it'll be a grower the away kit um as it's grown on me it's grown on me even more and that's why i've wore this right now because i'm inspired by that kit and um yeah i'm looking forward to as I said, looking to see them in person again on the players in pre-season, which is going to be good fun.
26:47Ross Halls:Of course, the first open game is against Asasuna. We're going to have to get some practice in before that one. That's funny, it's always there all over again, isn't it? And you just nailed that. I know, because I've said it so many times. It's only taken a year. Yeah, true, true. That's probably my favourite video we put out with my blooper. Oh, the blooper. That was so funny. That was up there. Yeah, definitely a man. But no, thank you so much, everyone, for joining us on our live reaction. I was going to bring up a picture of it once again. If you're listening on podcast audio, you won't have a clue what it looks like.
27:21Ross Halls:You know what it looks like, but we're just going to bring up them in all its glory. I'm deleting the picture. Don't delete the picture. There it is. Looking very sharp. The women's team and the men's team wearing it. And yeah, of course. Go and buy it if you like it. I'm sure a lot of people's wallets have a bit of a dent today because when a new kit's out, it's like Christmas. You want to buy it. You want to wear it. You want to show it off. And of course, AJ, we're a Premier League club once again. So yeah, thank you very much for joining me, my friend. Any other business? Anything else you want to mention?

27:55No, no other business. I think we've covered everything there. The two kits, the story behind them, the patterns on the home shirt with linking to the stadium, the investment that's gone into local grassroots football clubs and their shirts. And yeah, hopefully you've enjoyed being able to talk through your thoughts and feelings on the kits. Really, really like them. Now we need some new signings to go in them. And then pre-season and the big kickoff. So follow it all with us, pardon me, as we take it all on in the next few weeks. Plenty to get our teeth stuck into.
28:31Ross Halls:Definitely, my friend. As AJ has really alluded to in the video so far, there is a video of us reacting to it live, doing a bit of an unboxing style. And you'll also see me and Heathie wearing the home and the awake as well. So check out that video if you haven't already. But thank you very much for watching and listening. And we'll be bringing you loads of different lives and other video content throughout the summer because it's going to be busy. Of course, the Gary O 'Neill era has begun. And I'm looking forward to it. AJ, you've got a nice week off. So enjoy your week off in the sun. And yeah, I'll be still here.
