In short
Ipswich Town’s early summer transfer talk after promotion back to the Premier League—who may leave, who could be signed (especially defenders and strikers), and how many players Ipswich might recruit.
Guests
Roscoe (host) and Alex Jones (“AJ”), a fan/analyst focused on separating reliable transfer reporting from “BS” and mapping Ipswich’s recruitment plan.
Key claims
- Goalkeeper Aro Muric is likely to leave permanently; he says he won’t stay at Sassuolo and is linked with Valencia.
- Ipswich’s defensive recruitment is a priority, possibly for a back-five system.
- Striker additions are needed; Troy Parrott is a key target if reports are reliable.
Notable examples
- Muric: praised for Serie A saves (including vs Juventus), but “bridges burnt” at Ipswich.
- Defender links: Enzo Boyomo (Osasuna), Mustafa Mbao (Paris FC), CJ Egan-Riley (Marseille).
- Attacker links: Troy Parrott (RZ Alkmaar) and Zian Fleming (Burnley; report treated cautiously).
- Wingers: Jack Clark (Sheffield United interest doubted); Cameron Aschier (Huddersfield; many clubs listed).

0:38Ross Halls:Hello everybody, it's me Roscoe and welcome to the first transfer talk of the summer. It's going to be a long summer. Of course, Town are back in the Premier League and there's already rumours and links flying about. I'm joined by Alex Jones, my friend. Yeah, the season just finished. Town, of course, back to the promised land and there's links aplenty. But how are you? yeah i'm all good um this in in some way is my time to shine i feel in that i kind of tend to throw myself head first into a lot of the transfer stuff and i've got the very difficult job a lot of the times of trying to separate what's reliable from what's bs and trying to trying to see what's really going on with ipswich town's transfer plan so we're going to give that a go we're going to look through some of the links we've had early doors so far some of the things that could happen some things that might be a little bit more uh uncertain let's say based on some of the reporting and we're going to try and bring you a bit of everything uh to give you the full picture of where we're at with ipswich town's early summer transfer rumors yes indeed my friend we're going to keep you up to speed with all the stuff that's currently out there um we're going to start off AJ with a departure at town.
1:56Ross Halls:A player that's currently out alone in Italy and that is Aro Muric who, yeah, unfortunately not had a great spell at town, although had a few decent saves last year in the Premier League, but he's currently been doing pretty well actually in Serie A with Sosuolo. Sosuolo? Yeah. I nailed it. But he's come out and said he won't be staying at the Italian side and he's now been linked to Valencia in Spain. I was then looking at their manager, and that is Carlos Colbron, who was the West Brom manager, wasn't he? So a little link there to England. But let us know a little bit more about Aramuric, who, yeah, very much likely not going to be playing for town again.
2:39Ross Halls:And yeah, he's got some interest. Yeah, it's obviously been a very difficult period for Aramuric in terms of his move from Burnley to Ipswich and the expectations that came with that and the fact that his debut against former club band City was what it was, basically. And it wasn't a huge surprise to see him leave last season. I think it was probably even more the biggest surprise, wasn't it? It wasn't on a permanent move. But trying to do that a year on from him signing a decent fee, I believe it was around the£8 million mark, was always going to be difficult, especially without him going and putting in some improved performances elsewhere.
3:19So he goes to Italy to the top flight with newly promoted Sassuolo. And he's had an excellent season. He's been one of the top goalkeepers in the division. He's made some really important saves. He's stopped a really good penalty against Juventus and then denied Ben with a late save in that game as well, away at Juventus, it should be said. And he's had big interest already. There have been reports that Juventus wanted to sign him when he was out in Sassuolo. and it felt that Zasuelu had the option to buy, still do technically have it active and unable to use if they can agree to take Miric on, which isn't going to happen.
3:57But they have inserted that in the deal at the start of the season, which is 10 million euros, we understand, which is around 8.7 million pounds. But it's not what Arrow wants. The quotes that he gave to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio were, where I'm grateful for the season, but I don't intend to play for Sassuolo next season. With the end of my loan, my time here also ends. It was a positive year and I enjoyed it, but I informed the club that I don't want to stay here after this season for personal reasons, whatever that's going to be. So he'll come back to Suffolk, is the way that things are looking at the moment.
4:31And then the expectation, of course, I don't think that these bridges can be rebuilt despite his impressive form. I don't think that the trust from the fans in him is going to be there. So it looks like he'll move on and as you mentioned Valencia is the first link to come out that came from Spanish news outlet Cadena Ser who were discussing the fact that they've got a couple of goalkeepers there Dmitrievsky the first choice who's got the option to extend his contract by a couple of years hasn't been that happy at Valencia recently I think and they've got a lonely Julen Aguirre Zabala nailed it who they can sign on a permanent deal but Mürich might be the more experienced and the more affordable deal.
5:14So we'll have to wait and see what happens there. In the short term, it looks like it's going to be Arrow coming back after Sassuolo's final two games of the Serie A season. In the long term, I think it's quite clear that he will be leaving Portman Road on a permanent deal in the summer.
5:27Ross Halls:Yes, very much so. And the thing with Arrow, he is a decent keeper. Just if you look away from the bad mistakes in a few moments, you know, he wouldn't be going to these top flight clubs and teams like Juventus and Valencia would not be thinking. I know his attitude may be a little bit there. He's had some other issues, but he's still a decent goalkeeper at a decent age. But yeah, his future at town is very much, as you said, those bridges are probably burnt. What's your gut feeling about Miracadio? Where do you think he will end up? You know, Valencia is the current link, but anywhere else you think he'll go?
6:03Ross Halls:He's sort of going to different countries now, isn't he? Yeah, he's had some different experiences. I don't think that it's going to be English football. I'll go early with that. I think that the spotlight and the scrutiny that you can face when making an error in England is quite fierce. And ultimately, I mean, if I was him, he's had a really good spell in Italy. If he likes living in Italy and he can see that as a long-term option for him, then even if it's not at Sassuolo, that would be where I would look to go. but we'll see. There's various options on the table. He could go to Turkey. He could find the Bundesliga club.
6:40He's a unique goalkeeper in the market and the way that ball-playing goalkeepers are seen means he's always going to have that value. Yes, he has really good saves. Yes, on the flip side, he's made errors but he's a good goalkeeper with the ball at his feet and that is what's going to attract top teams from big leagues. and yeah, I know that La Liga, we've got the La Liga interest with Valencia. I still think that there's a good chance that he ends up getting a good offer in the Italian top flight given the performances that he's been putting in over the last few months.
7:16Ross Halls:Okay then, so that is a potential departure for Town this summer. I'm sure there's going to be a few others as Town are back in the top flight. AJ, shall we look at potential incomings and the rumours that are flying about? We're going to start with defenders so let's get right into it. I was going to say we're going to pause and jump in, but we're just going to carry on. I think this is flowing really well. I hope everyone's enjoying so far. Let us know your thoughts in the comments about Muric and we'll discuss some defenders, my friend. Who would you like to start with? There's three in total.
7:46Ross Halls:We can put them all together, but maybe just name the three and then we'll start with the first one you want to mention. Yeah, so first link of the summer, pretty much full stop, was Enzo Boyomo over at Osasuna. We've had Mustafa Mbao at Paris FC over in France. And then the most recent one, Marseille defender CJ Egan Riley, former England under 21 international. Let's kind of do this chronologically, I think is the best way, because Boyomo was the first one who got linked. And it's what a lot of town fans wanted to see. It got reported over in Spain. Again, another local Spanish outlet called Diario de Noticias that the Blues had sent scouts to go and watch him play for Osasuna.
8:33He's been there for a little while now, and he's someone that has attracted a lot of interest. He's 24. He came to the ranks first at Toulouse and then at Blackburn Rovers, interestingly, and then ended up in Spain with Albacete and Real Valladolid. And now he's in Pamplona. He's established himself there, 64 appearances over the last couple of seasons. they've had a they've still got Europa Conference League qualification on the line there nine cap Cameroon International as well and I think always if you're a town fan you hear things like that about player you don't know that's what will get you going so there's a bit of a balance here for me I like height in defenders and maybe that's the thing that then sticks in the back of my head from what I understand I think he's about six foot which obviously, you know, sat here as someone who's five foot six is quite tall.
9:26But it's obviously not huge for a centre-back, especially at Premier League level. But you look at him, he's well built. He's a proper unit. He likes the physical side of the game. He's got a turn of pace on him. I think he'd enjoy playing with the ball at his feet. And especially if Town went down the route, and I'm sure I'll be banging on about this all summer, of going into a back five, he would be an interesting signing to look at. and it shows as well that I think town are really expanding their international recruitment. And it's highlighted as well by Mustafa Mbao, because again, another one that is maybe not as familiar a name.
10:03That one comes from RMC Sport over in France. There's been quite a lot of noise around him already. He's been with Paris for quite a while. He's made 100 appearances there. He's spent quite a lot of time in the capital, really impressing, has built up his career through France. And yeah, interest from the Premier League, Crystal Palace, Fulham, West Ham, reportedly already made offers. Liverpool have apparently inquired as well. He's a six foot four unit. He's the kind of player that you can see adapting to the Premier League very well. And at 26, has a high ceiling. And the last one, just to touch on quickly, CJ Egan Riley was one of the most recent links we've had.
10:46That one came from Futsu 7 over in France. So, yeah, that's an interesting one. He's come through the ranks at Manchester City, then left for Burnley, had a couple of loan spells. He's very versatile in that he's a natural right-footer but can play to the middle of the five, can play right and left. Obviously comes as an English player, which would be attractive to Ipswich Town, 3-cap England under 21 international. again not the tallest only about six foot and despite being 23 and having come through the ranks at city and burnley and played all these minutes he's actually never really played premier league minutes and he's only had i think seven odd premier league minutes in total um but it looks like a fire sale at marseille so maybe there will be a deal to be done there um yeah interesting one with lots of defenders yes indeed i swear we've got loads of just scouts going to
11:42Ross Halls:French games at the moment. We've got loads of different friends, you know, of course we've signed Azor Matasiwa, sent a Kipra, of course, I know he's played in England before, but he's playing, you know, at a French club. And it seems, AJ, defence is going to be a position that Kieran McKenna will want to strengthen in. So you're probably not surprised with these early links? No, I mean, when you look through the team, there's probably one position in the entire team that you'd say isn't going to need to be strengthened, which would be the left wing. It's interesting that centre-back, The rumours seem to be coming quite hard through centre-backs.
12:17So, yeah, is that an indication of what's to come with the priorities? I don't know. Again, if you're going to shift to the back five, which is certainly possible, it could be that they're going to need to hammer down on that recruitment. The biggest thing for me is going to be experience and physicality. Jacob Greaves, big old boy for sure. So is Cedric Kipbrane. Daro Shea has that as well. adding to that unit I think will be important getting someone with a really high ceiling if possible, I like the sound of Boyomo who might not have the height but has the physicality for sure, is really well built those are the kind of things that really intrigue me, so yeah, I think that Ipswich are going to need to go into the Premier League as well, defence first and that's going to be the priority, we know that they can get the ball down and play and we know that's McKenna's ideology, when you're stepping into the Premier League as a newly promoted side.
13:11I think that's what you need. I wouldn't be surprised if these early links have a reflection on that.
13:17Ross Halls:Definitely. But that's not the sexy stuff, is it really, AJ? Strikers, and of course, town fans want to see town sign some strikers this summer. Definitely in the Premier League. There's been a few that have been out there. Let us know. There's one man who's a former town loanee in Troy Parrot who's been scoring for fun in Holland and And also was key for Ireland. Unfortunately, they missed out on the World Cup. But yeah, he's one of the names. And there's also a familiar name to you as well on that list. Yeah, let's start with Troy Parrott then. This came from a report from Sebastian Vidal on Twitter, who had suggested that both Ipswich and newly promoted rivals Coventry are eyeing him.
14:01And it's no wonder why he's obviously been at Portman Road before in 2020-21. and didn't have a great time, I don't think, at Portman Road, scored twice in 18 games. I think it was kind of wrong place at the wrong time for him. I'm sure you'd be able to say a bit more on that. But had gone on, had spells at MK Dons and Preston, then went to the Netherlands, went to Excelsior Rotterdam. I think he was playing in the second tier back then, did really well and then stepped up into the top flight. And now he's at RZ Alkmaier playing in Europe as well, 50 goals to his name in 93 appearances across a couple of seasons.
14:34he is one of if not the best striker in the division at 24 as a senior republic of island international there's going to be a lot of interest in him this summer and it would make sense for Ipswich as well because they know him um they've they've surely watched him develop I wouldn't be surprised that Kieran McKenna with previous Spurs links has an understanding or at least has followed him even if the timelines didn't maybe match up uh regarding when they were both at Spurs, but there will be heavy interest in him. And assuming that there is reliability within the report, and I'm not going huge on the reliability scale in this one, if it is Ipswich and Coventry, I'm sure that there will be a number of other Premier League clubs who are interested in him, given his physical profile and his goal-scoring record.
15:20And you could probably then make a similar case for Zian Fleming, who is the other link that we've seen recently in terms of on an attacker. This one came from Ekrem Konur via Sportsboom. Pinch of salt in terms of the reporting here. I wouldn't be at all convinced and sold in the fact that there have been a lot of other links. Coventry, Everton, Leeds, and then Serie A and Eredivisie interest here. Yeah, that's a lot of teams, and it feels a little bit agent-driven to me. But also, it does feel like it's a link that would make sense for Ipswich Town. He's someone that I've watched very closely, and I've seen him, even over the season that I covered Mill, the way he developed physically was startling in going from quite a wiry, tall Dutch number nine, or an attacker, he played as number 10 actually back then, within months he'd been in the gym, and his bicep was bigger than my head.
16:18And I love that within a Premier League attacker, would be available, said to be between 15 and 20 million euros. It's about 13 and 17 million pounds. And he's delivered in the Premier League. He's scored 10 goals, stepping up into the top flight. He's 27. He's got the experience. He's got the profile to be a McKenna striker. As I said, take the report with a pinch of salt. I wouldn't at all be surprised if he's someone that town are looking at this summer.
16:50Ross Halls:Yeah, I know there's some fans will be going, oh, why are we signing a player who just got relegated from the Premier League? We did that last time. We signed a few players. We actually basically signed a lot of Burnley players, didn't we, who got relocated. But he's proven he can play in the Premier League. You know, 10 goals and he's still young. So I wouldn't want me against that. But I think striker is, of course, going to be a key position. That's how we'll do. Obviously, Liam DeLapp, I'm sure that link will get thrown out there at some point this summer. But, yeah, we shall see on the striker front.
17:21Ross Halls:But I'm sure there will be more and more names getting thrown out, AJ. I think that there's going to be a lot of comments on relegated players and championship players, and I fully agree that Ipswich cannot take the same approach they had two years ago in predominantly basing their recruitment on players that have been relegated from the Premier League or were still in the championship. At the same time, it's not a market that you can ignore because as a newly promoted club, you have to realise where your place is in the food chain it's going to be very difficult to go and rival Bournemouth, Brentford, Brighton, Leeds, Sunderland with what you're trying to do and that's not even necessarily the financials these are now established Premier League teams and Ipswich are not so you have to recognise where you are in the food chain and pick your battles and foreign recruitment is going to be really important for Ipswich Town this summer but there has to be an element of understanding that you have to pick your markets as well and players like Zian Fleming, for example, who's delivered 10 goals in the division, who has led the line really well, been the right physical profile for Burnley, that makes a lot of sense, especially at the right price, in the same way that if you look down at the championship, there's value to be had that.
18:36I'm not saying Hayden Hackney, for example, but even, I don't know, take Hayden Morris, take other players who perform towards the top of the division. Those are Millwall, who haven't been promoted, or other teams. they will be the kind of players that Ipswich will and should have to look at this summer. So it's always about a balance, but don't shut off any markets because of where these teams and these players are playing at the moment. I'm sure that Ipswich will get the right balance this summer. I'm much more confident than two years ago.
19:07Ross Halls:Yes, and I'm sure there'll be another Hayden-Hackney saga potentially this summer. We shall see more thorough courses now, although still very much up in the air, isn't it, with the NFL? playoff final and stuff. So we won't get into that. We're talking about transfers. But AJ, just to sort of round off this video, any other business, any other transfer links that are just out there? But, you know, Jack Clark is one of them. Sheffield United. Yeah. Let's talk about wingers. Why not? Because Ipswich Town love their wingers. Jack Clark is one that came up in January and has been brought back up again now.
19:42Yeah, this one came from the Sheffield Star saying that Sheffield United are keen on reigniting their interest in Jack Clark. So let's wait and see what happens with that. My gut feeling is absolutely no chance. And there are question marks, of course, about Jack Clark stepping into the Premier League, the physicality, how he performed last time. But hopefully off the back of this season with Ipswich, he will be better suited for it and can have a much bigger impact in the division. I can't see Sheffield United spending what would probably have to be£20 million, a championship record fee, possibly more than that, to sign Jack Clark this summer.
20:20Yeah, just not one that I think is going to be feasible for them. Harry Clark might be a slightly more realistic one given his previous loan spell, and I think there could be some cross wires there from previous times. And the other one that's been interesting, it's more of an under-21s view, is Cameron Aschier, who's been playing quite a bit for Huddersfield Town in League One, 21 years old, has been likened to Jeremy Doku, which is a good bit of fun, and he's the nephew of... I'm sold. There you go. He's the nephew of Callum Hudson-Odoi over at Nottingham Forest as well. Wandsworth Bourne joined Derby's Academy, was at the Fox Soccer Academy Showcase event, and then joined Derby from there, then ended up moving to Huddersfield Town, where he's made a really impressive step up into League One football.
21:05And the Daily Mail reporting there is a lengthy list of admirers, including Fulham, Rangers, Celtic, Stuttgart, Hoffenheim, Burnley, Southampton, Sheffield United, and Cardiff. Feels a little agent-driven to me. And Ipswich are part of that list. Interesting one. I imagine that would be if Town were to jump in the queue and get him a deal with a loan-back clause that would see him playing some Premier League 2 football. But a bit of fun, isn't it? Yeah, there's all your transfer rumours. that we've had so far, Sahir, at 10 past 11 on the 15th of May.
21:37Ross Halls:Yes, indeed. And we're hoping to bring you these every Friday, weekly, but it really depends on rumours and other bits and bobs, both of you enjoyed. I'm going to ask AJ one more question as we wrap up. How many signings do you think Town will make? The transfer window hasn't even opened yet, but it's going to be, I'm sure, a busy summer of, you know, incomings and departures. How many signings can Kieran McKenna's men will make as a return to the Premier League?
22:07Ten. I think it's going to be quite heavy. I think that with Town wanting to go into the Premier League, wanting essentially two players for every position, knowing that you can almost strengthen every position apart from the left flank, I think ten is probably around that number, give or take one or two. I would say it will be between 10 and 12 players that will come in through the door this summer and I think they'll be quite high spend
22:36Ross Halls:Okay well strap yourself in ladies and gentlemen it's going to be a busy long long summer but we'll be here to bring you all the latest news when we know it and yeah thanks for watching let us know your thoughts your feelings in the comments down below and we'll see you next time this is Town Transvert Talk bye for now
