In short

The Couch Hang episode is about postpartum life updates, colic and treatment, and lighter topics like Disney/children’s movie scariness and kids’ first haircuts.

Guests

Laila and Megan (two mom friends and hosts of The Couch Hang, part of Learning to Mom Podcast). Laila shares a mom-free weekend in Nashville after her sister-in-law watched the kids, and discusses a meal train and postpartum “dark hours.” She describes her baby’s colic-like symptoms: worsening screaming, poor latch, suspected reflux/indigestion, and a tongue/lip tie. She got an appointment with an IBCLC/Interact provider, leading to a frenectomy (laser) and plans for follow-up; she also went dairy-free again.

Key claims

colic vs non-colic creates two distinct postpartum experiences; many doctors dismiss prolonged crying as “normal”; follow your gut.

Notable examples

a $540 procedure cost vs expected thousands; a friend’s stool test showing blood after dairy; her daughter’s first curly haircut with face-framing layers; concerns about Frozen 3 being scary for sensitive kids.

Thanks for hanging on the couch with us. Let's get into this week's episode. Welcome back to another episode of The Couch Hang.

0:37Meghan:Hey, hey, let's couch hang.

0:40Laila:Dude, okay. I like, thank you everyone for listening. I actually, this is, I was like, is the, are people going to want this? What is this? Because it was such a spur of the moment. I absolutely did no like research going into it. It was just like, oh, I want to talk to my best friend, which is so not you.

0:56Meghan:The people are into it. It's so fun. No, I had a good feeling about it. It was funny. I feel like you were kind of like, I don't know. And I was like, this is what I do on my podcast. People seem to like it. So we just kind of chat. It's fun though. It is nice. And I feel like when you're a mom, you just kind of want to talk. It's really easy to talk about mom things and to listen to other people talk about mom things. so I feel like the mom chat that couch hang is relatable to a lot of people especially your

1:27Laila:audience because they're moms and you speaking of being a mom you had a mom free weekend which

1:35Meghan:I'm pretty jealous of uh well I'm sure given you're getting being postpartum I'm sure it's not fun to be like oh fun so happy for you have fun with your husband without your kids sure that's nice that it was nice to sleep all night it's like yeah sorry I know it's too bad that we're not and like I feel like we had our kids in similar times and then I had a miscarriage we would have our kids would have been like super close in age and now we're not on that track anymore so it's like that's too bad but it's okay the lord knows what our plans are supposed to be and we just have to try to follow them yeah yeah layla how are you doing do you have any mom updates or life updates you want to share with

2:28Laila:the class i mean yeah do you want to share your weekend first or what oh yeah i guess i can't

2:32Meghan:yeah sorry my husband and i went on a little mini trip my sister-in-law was like can i have the girls for the weekend i was like say less megan has hit the jackpot with sister like i mean my

2:45Laila:My sister-in-law also rocks, but my sister-in-law lives a plane ride away.

2:49Meghan:Yeah, that is too bad.

2:50Laila:But I mean, like, your sister-in-law literally watches the girls just for fun.

2:54Meghan:No, for fun. Genuinely for fun. I'm always, like, after my sister-in-law, my mother-in-law watch my kids, I'm just like, thank you guys so much. They're like, no, thank you for letting us hang out with your kids. I was like, I was like, do some people, some people don't, I think some people are different. I am very much like come into my house, come hang out. I don't feel bad if you're helping me clean up after dinner. I don't feel bad if you're the one cooking the meal because I'm breastfeeding. Like I've never had that anxiety with my in-laws. I know that's not the case for everyone. Like their relationship with their in-laws can be very different.

3:32Meghan:I really have hit the in-law jackpot so much so that I like really try to convince my sister-in-law to move into my house. Like when I started having kids, I'm like, what do I have to do? Like, I'll pay you to live here. Like, what do we have to do here? So anyway, she watched the kids for the weekend. And I was like, Okay, Jake, my husband, do we stay home? Or do we go on like a little trip and visit some friends? And he's like, let's go on a trip, which is unlike my husband to give that response. I was really like, he's gonna say no, and I'm gonna stay in my hometown this weekend and get my house organized.

4:09Meghan:Like it was good. That's really what I was picturing happening. He's like, no, let's go. I was like, say less. So we booked a hotel in Nashville, Tennessee, and it was so great and relaxing. And here's the thing. And I was telling Laila this, I was like, if I was at home, I wouldn't be able to just lay in this bed and watch TV and not feel guilty for not taking advantage of the time. Yeah, exactly. And I'm like we there are times we just sat we watched architect digest youtube videos of just celebrities homes in the hotel bed and i was like i would never do this i would never do this if my house was kid free like i would be all hands on deck we're getting every project done i don't care how long we stay up we're painting we're doing that like you know what i mean yes and i was like you know what i actually probably needed to relax for a second and i'm glad we did because the projects will get done when they get done it doesn't matter it's fine so that's what we did

5:10Laila:that's what we did and it was great that is so fun yeah what did i do recommend i have no concept of time i'm like okay well the postpartum trenches are so wild i was on the phone with a friend in

5:22Meghan:the postpartum trenches as well and it was friday and i was like oh yeah my husband's like taking some calls or whatever so i'm fine to chat she's like it's saturday tell him to stop working and I'm like it it is Friday but you're on your postpartum timeline so you really don't know what day it is because it doesn't matter it's so real yeah it just it all blurs together

5:45Laila:well we also have lacked structure which is like you know when school is in session and stuff you have days like on this day truly I only have and I mean my husband only got like a week off because

6:00Meghan:he works for himself so you know yeah it's not I don't know like to do that one friend who's working

6:06Laila:or who got Friday confused with Saturday but her husband's home yeah probably every day feels like Saturday yeah I personally don't have that luxury but yeah like I don't really know what day it is unless it's Sunday we're going yeah it resets on Sunday that's all we got going

6:24Meghan:a thousand percent a thousand percent yes but how are you doing at this point in time

6:34triggering question to ask how dare I no this is what's hard too so we're so blessed with this

6:41Laila:meal train that our church like really kind of fronts I have never seen a meal train so filled you guys it is it is my church is like that is every time you know they'll send out the so-and-so family had a baby and then you can sign up and like I go to sign up and the dates are just gone

6:57Meghan:women are just so that is so wonderful it is the best thing ever but you know they're like you know

7:02Laila:how are things going when they drop off the meal and I just want to be like do you want me to trauma dump or like what kind of a little tricky and I of course am an over sharer I'm like let me tell you everything totally as a receiver some lady that's only seen me at church one time like oh oh my gosh no um so because we're doing this bi-weekly to fill you in life was peachy for the first like two weeks two and a half weeks again not really sure pretty blur blurs totally

7:36Meghan:together you really were like thriving they're right in it really thriving yes right yeah yeah

7:42Laila:And then things just went downhill because colic began. Yeah. And it took a couple days for us to realize that's what was happening because it kind of got worse and worse and worse, you know? So what happened was he has a very bad latch. We knew he had, I don't remember if our pediatrician said that he had a tongue tie or a lip tie. It was one of them. So we knew that, but he was gaining weight just fine. quite literally a couple days ago a lady dropped over off our meal and did like a double take on him and she was like how old is he like am i dropping off a meal to a three-month-old what

8:19Meghan:is happening and i was like no your your baby looked big from the start like i whenever i came over like two weeks postpartum i was like you're like he doesn't even do the born scrunch anymore i'm like no he looks like the three-month-old that i saw the other day like action because

8:33Laila:the newborn days are just shortened because he's so big yeah in terms of like yeah you weren't I'm just like, oh, you're so little.

8:40Meghan:I'm so little. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

8:42Laila:So we were like fine, like gaining weight fine. I was in no pain, so I was totally fine. And then this screaming for literally five hours started. And, you know, what is going on? And then I really started looking at his latch. And I was like, his latch really is not great. I just haven't really observed it because it was not causing any issues until now.

9:04Meghan:Right. So then I basically believed that his bad latch was causing air in his stomach and making him have silent reflux. So then I got scheduled.

9:18Laila:Then, okay, my game plan was I'm going to reach out to a pediatric chiropractor and like see what's happening. And then luckily I talked to a friend who's a pediatric PT. and she said all of his symptoms sound exactly like my second you should reach out to so-and-so who's an interact and ibclc and get some help so made an appointment with her praise god i was able to be seen that week at the end of the week but yeah and yeah she the there's four classes and he has a class three so three out of four um for both tongue and lip yeah and so she referred us to have a frenectomy which is like the laser for the tongue and the lip so we just had that yesterday so right now he just kind of like out of sorts but i am so hopeful totally that that's and she was so helpful helpful and hopeful and just validated everything i was saying she said that she doesn't believe he has silent reflex reflux um she he has something else where the milk his tongue can't reach the back of his mouth enough to like make a good suction and force the milk back so milk is cooling but he's not necessarily like spitting it up i guess it's

10:37Meghan:kind of more like indigestion or heartburn is what it sure sure sure i'm not sure um but yeah

10:43Laila:we had that procedure done yesterday and i guess the first 24 to 48 hours are kind of rough but even the lactation consultant was like for those 48 hours after the procedure, it's not going to be any more rough than you're used to.

10:57Meghan:So, okay. Good point. That's such a good point. Actually. You're like, he'll be crying all the time, but he's already been crying all the time. So yeah, it'll just start getting better at some point. Yeah. Okay. Well, there's that.

11:09Laila:So that's been great. But my mental health for the first time, so obviously this is my third kid. And this is the first one where I've struggled because of it. And now I, I have a belief that there's like, there's two postpartum experiences. It's if your baby has colic or if your baby doesn't have colic.

11:27Meghan:Yes. Yes. No, this is, I'm such a, no, I'm such a firm believer. Cause my second had a lot of issues as well that we just didn't really resolve. Cause we just went and I'm just so grateful that you are in place. like you were able to take the steps forward. I feel like my husband and I were just like paralyzed because it's like, and you were told it's normal. We were told it's normal. We're like, we aren't sleeping. We can't really make educated decisions right now because we're so sleep deprived. All we're trying to do is just keep this baby alive. Like it was just really hard. And it's funny, you can tell people who haven't had this experience yet, the way they speak to you about it is like, okay, you don't understand.

12:16Meghan:It's kind of like, well, by the time you're like a third or fourth time mom, it just gets so much easier because you chill out as a mom, like you start to understand what's going on. So then you're way chiller. So even if your kid's having some issues, like you handle it better. So the postpartum experience is just better. And it's like, okay, ma 'am, you clearly haven't had a child who's like got some stuff going on because I'm not talking about myself. I'm talking about is the child having an issue or not? Because that's it. My first was like the easiest classic, just do the taking care of babies stuff and everything.

12:55Meghan:Like literally we took the taking care of babies class and my daughter was like doing everything that she said was going to happen. Like followed it to a T. My baby fell into place and everything was nice and easy and perfect and cute and fun. And I had such a fun first postpartum. And I, the problem with that is like, and then I go into my second, like, Oh, this is gonna be so much fun. I can't wait for my husband to be off work for six weeks. We're going to hang out as a family, get to do this and that and the other. And then it was just like H-E-W hockey sticks because my second had issues and my first did not.

13:28Meghan:And I'm like, yeah, this is not much of, it's less of a like parenting or like decisions you're making parenting style and be like, what is your child actually need? Like what's actually

Read the full transcript

13:37Laila:going on with your kid. And whenever I approach another pregnancy and delivery and parenting those

13:45Meghan:first few weeks, I'll be approaching things much differently this time. Cause I've had both

13:49Laila:experiences now, you know? Yeah. And I was so looking forward to this postpartum to that point. like third time yes I know what I'm doing this is so great and I feel like you talk to every expert too like you're also very well that's how I did know like colic yeah a symptom and not a diagnosis like it is not normal that I cannot place him on his back for five seconds for me to have my put my toddler on the toilet and he's losing his mind like that is not normal where praise God that I knew that because how many women go to their doctors even and it's like my baby's crying for five hours a night and they go oh they'll outgrow it that's normal yeah I'm so sorry raising my hand yes like horrible just horrible and no wonder there's so many women who experience that and they say I can only have one I can only do this one time literally I would I no way would I want to put myself through that again oh my gosh no it it took me obviously like

14:48Meghan:I had my miscarriage with my third, but it took me way longer to desire to want to get pregnant. So I'm like, well, I cannot go through what I just went through. Like that was traumatizing. That's really hard. This is what parenting is not like. If I have another baby like that, I'm not going to be able to do that again kind of thing, you know? Yeah. So I get it. It's hard. It's really hard. It's every, every child. Yeah.

15:11Laila:Hopefully now we're on the upswing. we're all not for sure hopefully so we are gonna go see we got into an appointment for pediatric chiropractor tomorrow I called their office and I was literally like he had the frenectomy yesterday when can I be seen so that's great and she's but she had she knows like myofacial treatment too which yes so that's great and I mean there's so many everyone's like you should see so-and-so and you should see so-and-so and I'm like unfortunately the pocketbook is not unlimited. I do have, I can only see so many people. Like I would love all of the specialists to do them all.

15:45Yeah.

15:46Meghan:And all, and a lot of the best bang for my buck. Why? And even a lot of these people, I feel like are not covered under insurance too. Like with, I mean, even in a normal situation with insurance, it's like, well, if you're going to go see the extra super duper person, they're independent. And so you will be paying out of pocket every time. And it's like, great. But when you go through what you've been through, I'm sure that a desperation, you're like, I will pay anything at this point. You can't do it all. But it's like, I will be going to that chiropractor. I don't care. Like, if he can stop crying, we're going to figure this out.

16:22Meghan:Yeah, it's very. Yeah.

16:24Laila:Okay. On the topic of insurance, this was very interesting to me. His procedure was$540 some dollars. Okay. Okay. I thought it was going to be in the thousands because it's like in what world are you have like like he had

16:40Meghan:local anesthetics or anesthesia whatever it's called yeah and I mean it's a procedure and all

16:47Laila:other procedures in the medical world are thousands like I was expecting probably two thousand dollars this is gonna suck but we're gonna have to do it because of course yeah truly teetering on postpartum depression and I say that but I also want to be a have a caveat they're like I'm fine until 5 p.m rolls around and then he's crying until 10 or 11. Yeah those are my dark hours but then catch me outside of those hours I'm peachy I'm great. The mom club is for those of you who are doing this without a mom friend nearby or who may have one but never gets to actually sit down with her because your guys's kids are always napping at different times.

17:24Laila:If this is your vibe you are gonna love the mom club because you get longer couch hang episodes and we get to be real mom friends inside. So come join me at learning to mom podcast.com slash join the links in the episode show notes below.

17:39Meghan:Yeah. Anywho, I really, I was thinking about it and I think it's 540 some

17:45Laila:dollars only, I believe in comparison to if it was under insurance, because you don't add your kid to the dental plan or to like, they're not typically in your, they're not going to the dentist is actually a fair reasonable price because you're paying out of pocket yes okay very interesting uh because i was truly expecting two grand for it and i know a special dentist or you go to your dentist there's only two in the state that do it and people she said prior to 20 my lactation was said prior to 2014 people had to go to either cincinnati or chicago for it and then he came into town that's insane again why are other people getting on top of this

18:30Meghan:just because people need it like the demand must be high right yeah i mean we're blessed in our area because we do have two pick but i know people drive in from like illinois missouri for him like yeah but to your point moms are told this is normal and so i'm sure a lot of people who are not educated don't realize this procedure they don't even probably know what a tongue or lip tie is like yeah but there's also other things if if this wasn't so extreme for example my second had a tie and we didn't do anything for it yeah and well I can't say that because we did go to a

19:04Laila:craniosacral therapist for it to work out some tension so that he was a little bit okay yeah but I was like I'm not like in a perfect world I would have weeks and weeks of appointments with someone holistic to really like massage it out and untension his body out and stuff. But like, I'm dying. Get me in ASAP, please. I'm not waiting around. So that is a very long winded way of me that. Oh, but another update is I am also dairy free again. The lactation consultant. We don't believe that he's allergic like another one of my children is, but it's just probably adding to the issue which again a lot of pediatricians will say oh dairy doesn't do anything true and it's like talk to any mom who's cut it out and a lot of the time it is the issue or it's cutting out nuts or it's cutting out soy or eggs or something else I had a friend who um

20:03Meghan:she's breastfeeding and she has to cut out dairy and soy and I was like soy is actually so much

20:09Laila:harder. Yeah.

20:11Meghan:That's why it's like in everything. And I was like, how did you figure that out? But they got, she, they did like a stool sample test of the baby. And she's like, he, there is like blood in his stool and that's how they knew. And he's a little bit older now. She's like, I gave him like one shred of cheese just to see. And they did a test and he had blood in his stool just from one shred of cheese. I'm like, that is so crazy that dairy is that crazy for some people. It is that legit. It is that legit people. So doctors out there, what do you mean? Never doubt a mother's

20:48Laila:intuition.

20:50Meghan:That's correct. Preach. And if you're, if you left the doctor feeling like that didn't

20:56Laila:feel right follow your gut 100 follow your gut anyways thanks for the update let's talk about something a little lighter i don't know um this is old news have you seen the updates from i don't even know what it's called because i'm not a disney person but like disney con or ds okay i

21:17Meghan:saw a few reels i didn't even know this was a thing but i definitely did see a few reels about

21:22Laila:it did anything really pushing yes there are some things let's dug out to you first of all the

21:28Meghan:greatest showman is coming to broadway oh my gosh okay you're gonna have layla you're gonna have to go the greatest showman is one of my favorite everybody and in case for all of those listening

21:38Laila:you may should might not be surprised the girl with the podcast was a theater girly yeah okay

21:45Meghan:Yeah. Yes. Queen. No, you love the musical. You love the theater. You have to go. I don't want to hear any if answer, but about it, like you fly your butt to me or can you go see it? I don't want to know. I, yeah, you have to plan a little trip.

22:02Laila:Yeah. Oh, I'll just wait until it's on. It's regional. I didn't actually look to see like how, when, where, when, how I just saw, but no,

22:12Meghan:that's so cool that is so fun which i can't believe it's taken this long because that's just a phenomenal that is crazy that seems like a very easy movie to broadway situation yes i agree that's kind of funny and another thing that i'm really looking forward to that came out is the tangled live action oh yes that looked great the actors they chose looked great

22:36Laila:i agree i did not know that he's apparently no me either and i'm just yeah i've never seen anything that you're in maybe because he's a teeny he's more of a teeny bop i'm kind of missed him

22:46Meghan:right or the shows he's in i don't know yeah but everyone looked great when they just showed the i was like yep that looks perfect for that role and okay yep perfect i'm very pumped so that's

22:57Laila:fun and then they're doing some stuff to like the parks and stuff but i didn't really pay sure but

23:01Meghan:I'm like, yeah, not really relevant. What was exciting to me, hopefully, is Frozen 3. I hope that that is really exciting for my children. I'm really, the problem, I mean, the problem with most movies is that there is something scary in all kids' movies. It is so, it is really one of my gripes with children's movies. I have a, one of mine is very sensitive, very sensitive. and anything that pops up that is a little scary she comes screaming running startling maybe not even scary but even some things they're scared even frozen the monster the snow monster is scary agree they're they're babies they're children but you go through every single disney movie every princess movie every like you it's like okay i can fast forward the beginning of by Nemo when everyone dies like traumatic like oh my gosh yes Bambi don't get me started I didn't

24:05Laila:yeah anyway and I actually Frozen 2 is very scary yes we don't even watch it's very dark it's like I actually don't so I'm a little nervous about Frozen 3 because I don't love Frozen 2 I'm like

24:17Meghan:on the edge I'm like I'm gonna have to proof watch it unfortunately same with my kids are very into pop patrol very like if we're watching something i turn on pop patrol the pop patrol movies are scarier and there's one in the theater right now that has to do about dinosaurs and i'm like oh my gosh my oldest would probably be she loves dinosaurs she loves pop troll i'm like i'm sure there's something that is so scary the whole thing is the whole thing i can tell you right now it has to be no i know and i'm just i'm disappointed that i can't like take my kid to the movies because it's going to be too scary at the point.

24:52Laila:I do agree with this. And I get scared as an adult. Like I have, I get nightmares very, very easily. And this is what I had a sleep consultant on. And she told me, I literally, I don't challenge guests very often. It's their expertise. If I don't agree with something, I'm not going to be, you're not coming on my podcast to debate. I'm like, you know, you share your piece and expertise. We take it with a grain of salt. We apply it whatever sure she said that she doesn't believe kids can have nightmares and i was like what do you mean kids can't have nightmares and she's like they're not being there's nothing scary what would they say and i'm like i literally said frozen 2 is scary literally like i don't i still don't understand how she made that claim truly that's crazy that is crazy and like if

25:37Meghan:they can dream they can have a nightmare also it's like some kids probably are exposed to really traumatizing, scary situations in media, but like in real life, that's what I mean. Or they happen upon something. I'm like, kids are exposed to things very easily these days. That's a crazy claim, right? That's a crazy claim to make. Yeah. No, I know that guess. So I did.

26:03Laila:And I think that might be the first time I ever disagreed with the guest. Although actually i just agreed with the guest so hard we're not on patreon but oh okay he no he was supposed to be episode an episode for everybody and it was yeah i disagreed so hard with some things he said about fcx and like importance of it and like okay basically if you don't if you're my wife and you don't blank with me I'm gonna find it elsewhere horrible whoa there were some other things in this that I was like who the f are you and I'm gonna email your PR person because this is horrible this is outrageous I am still going to be releasing it to patreon because I have to talk about it with someone like we have no for sure for sure can you believe this

26:55Meghan:guy he sucks we just need to wow so anyway that's crazy I did I don't even know if I think I was so caught off guard by that opinion that I thought about it once a week ever since.

27:06Laila:And I'm just like, why didn't I speak up for women?

27:10Meghan:I think I was so caught off guard.

27:12Laila:Like that just came out

27:13Meghan:of your mouth and you're willing to say that to 50 ,000 people.

27:17Laila:What?

27:19Meghan:Especially 50 ,000 women. Like, yeah, you're going to say this to women everywhere.

27:24Laila:Yes. Oh my gosh. I know that is so crazy it is so crazy and i'm like it's one thing to think that it is which i don't even think it of course also don't like you're willing i just i'm so flabbergasted no that's crazy it's like

27:39Meghan:sir is that like are you making that claim about yourself like you're like that's yeah i was like this is not you in a good light no oh my gosh i'm like do we have to go to what the definition of marriage is exactly but also like that's crazy postpartum like what are you gonna do if your wife gets cancer and she can't sleep with you. Are you kidding? Like, yeah. Are you going to have to have an arrangement?

28:02Laila:Like what the F I'm still here. Oh my gosh. No, I'm very upset about that. We need to talk about something a lot. Let's talk about Ellie's first haircut.

28:12Meghan:Okay. Yeah. My daughter's first haircut, you guys. It's so crazy. I, my, my first daughter has the hair of an angel. I am obsessed with her hair. She has curly, dark hair, like dark brown hair. And I have very straight hair. And I, my husband has straight hair. We were just like, where did this curly hair come from? It's not like coily, but it's like wavy, curly. I just love her hair. And I am on like curly hair, YouTube shorts. And there's this one girl who just does curly haircuts and she talks about products and talks about styling and a lot of her things it's like girls with curly hair grow up hating their hair because they don't know how to style it properly and they don't know how to work with their curls well and I've always been like oh my gosh as a mother of a girl with curly hair I need to make sure that she loves it like and isn't ashamed of it or isn't embarrassed by it just because it's you know what I mean or gets like like, well, I was like, I, it's like, I don't know how to style curly hair.

29:20Meghan:I don't have it. So I've been trying different things, but I was like, okay, it's time for her to get a haircut. Her hair is very long for her age too. She just, she's just had great hair. It's very fun, but I'm like, we have to get a haircut, but I've been so afraid. I'm like, what if someone doesn't know how to cut curly hair properly? Like, I don't want to mess. So I ended up probably spending way too much money on the haircut, but I took her to my salon and I was just like, I'm not, I don't want to risk it. And so, but she was so excited. She's such a girl. She's such a girl. I have like the girliest girls and I myself am not a girly girl.

29:55Meghan:Like I'm really not, but do you think your

29:57Laila:second is a girly girl? I feel like your second is more aligned with my girl.

30:02Meghan:Well, here's the thing. My second, the way she feels about accessories and accessorizing it for her whole life. Okay. Very nice to be wearing a hat, wearing her purse. If we're leaving for the day, she goes and grabs a play purse, puts it on her thing, grabs her dog and she, her bracelets. Like if there's high heels around, she's putting them on. She's very like tough and aggressive, but she likes accessorizing. And I'm like, I don't, I don't know where this has come from, but it's very cute and I'm like I will embrace who they are though it's not what I'm used to really but anyways she's such a girl she's so excited to go to the hair salon or she like going to the hair salon they wash her hair too they washed her hair which was a little challenging because she's so little and to like sit all the way up like those things kind of hurt sometimes if the towel is not positioned correct yeah and especially when love that like in pregnancy too

31:01Laila:when you're kind of like in your back and you're just like, can we get this over with?

31:05Meghan:I like kind of can't breathe. The baby is pushing on my lungs. No, it is. That's such a good point. She did not love the hair wash, but we got through it. And then I asked her to do like face framing layers because she had just a lot of hair in the front of her face. And I was like, I think if there's some layers, she'll be able to wear it down more easily because it won't all just be like in her face. So that looks great. She got layers in her hair. So the curls look so much better now because they can layers just do really well with curly hair. So I'm glad I spent the money. I don't regret it.

31:38Meghan:And it was an emotional moment as a mom to like do your kid's first haircut. And I know I did it kind of late, but we did it and she loved it. It was very exciting it was very cute little time that is so fun it was so fun like if I have a boy and we have to like cut that boy's hair early so I'm like I'm gonna die yeah well you know my attempt because I

32:05Laila:did the math and I was like I'd have to pay 50 bucks to get my kid's haircut and I just it is that's that's no i would rather spend elsewhere personally so then i buy some scissors and i make him you buy just scissors you didn't even buy clippers no ma 'am or the i bought the you just yes i'm like i've cut my husband's hair before but i have the well that's what i'm going to do next okay okay okay so i give this i didn't realize that little boy i give him the world's worst haircut he looks amish and it is not even guys though it's lopsided but it's truly it's

32:55Meghan:adorable oh it's adorable he looks adorable you guys and then adorable but like they went to my

33:03Laila:in-laws for the weekend this is something that i didn't update everyone um patreon knows that

33:08Meghan:our bathroom flooded this was when i was like eight days postpartum literally our bathroom flooded it comes coming through our kitchen ceiling fun very fun we've had a whirlwind of

33:20Laila:postpartum this time around that was wild but so my in-laws very graciously took the older two which was so great because like we weren't able to be at the house for while the workers were putting it

33:29Meghan:because the dust and like everything so yeah it was pretty nice because that was before his

33:33Laila:colic started so he and I were just on vacation at my totally totally so anyway my in-laws text me and is like is it okay if we give him a haircut like this wasn't they did not plan it they were just downtown and there's this cute kids cut thing and I was like your money not mine you go for it go for it and now he's the most adorable little boy haircut and it looks like he's off to college

34:02Meghan:and it's so no my gosh that is okay you took that so graciously like that is something i feel like

34:09Laila:i would feel so offended no i knew the haircut was bad but i'm also excited to strengthen my skills in that department and like give my kids haircuts my girl that's gonna be the easiest thing ever she has straight hair yeah just gonna just do inside well that's probably gonna get

34:28Meghan:lopsided too but eventually I will do it that is so funny yeah haircuts kids haircuts it's such thing my dad used to cut my hair wow that's funny I'm like that is so not a dad thing to do he has all daughters and he would just stand us up in the bathroom on the counter and cut our hair

34:52Laila:that's a dad who budgeted and he realized i cannot afford four daughters haircuts on no way

34:59Meghan:that's no my dad is cheap as hd double hockey sits and that's like that is so him especially when we're a little at some point we started going to someone and getting our haircut but at the beginning it was just bowl cut bangs that's basically what i had to give the boy

35:17Laila:was full cut and then it was just a little Amish lopsided it was really so cute so cute no okay I
