In short
The episode is a chatty, travel-and-pop-culture episode that pivots into a critique of TikTok trad-wife influencer Nara Smith. The hosts discuss Vogue Williams’ Ibiza trip (airport “zombies,” hotel stay, and Brendan Courtney eating an enormous oyster) and then “yesteryear”/internet discourse.
Key claims
Nara Smith is accused of selling an idyllic trad-wife lifestyle while monetizing a facade; the hosts argue her “scratch cooking” content is clickbait/ragebait and that she’s “gaslighting the girlies” by denying she’s performing the aesthetic.
Notable examples
Nara’s “scratch cooking” videos, her Mormon/traditional background (husband Lucky Smith; kids with whimsical names like Whimsy Lou Smith), and the idea she prepares “48 hours a day” worth of food.
Guests
none—only the hosts (Vogue Williams and Joanne McNally) and recurring off-mic references to Imo, Joe/Jew-a-Joe, and Spencer.

0:05Joanne McNally:Sometimes feminism's hard, okay? Sometimes you need to know someone's had a facelift to support them. I'm sorry.
0:11Vogue Williams:That was like when I was Googling Juleepa because she was such a riot, it made me feel bad about myself. And I was like, it's a Juleepa before and after, and they were just the same.
0:20Joanne McNally:Damn! Bumblehutty Smith, Slim Easy Smith, Phony Golden Smith, Whimsy Lou Smith, Scratch Cooking Videos. And I'm sorry, that's what she does.
0:35Joanne McNally:What a stunning pre-pod pep talk from Imo. For our listeners, Imo just said, right, let's record this shite. I get it. I get it. Imo slowly using the will to live. Where's Joe, by the way? Does anyone know where he is?
0:54Vogue Williams:Where's Jew-a-Joe?
0:56Joanne McNally:Jew-a-Joe. Jew-a-Joe is away again. Julie Pattiwell, he's away again.
1:02Vogue Williams:Hello and welcome to My Therapist Ghosted Me with me, Vogue Williams. And Joanne McNally is no longer in Ibiza.
1:10Joanne McNally:I'm recording this shite from... She even did the Irish accent on shite. Yeah, shite. So I have left the island of Ibiza. I have travelled back. People were like, are you still there? I was like, yeah, it's a classic two-week holiday. Two weeks is too long. People don't like two weeks. Two weeks is too long in Ibiza, really. Ibiza is a kind of a grab-and-go of crack. Do you know what I mean? You go in. But because I was actually... You did quite well for two weeks, let's be honest. Well, I genuinely know. I feel tired now today. I'm wearing the sunglasses. I don't know how this... This is one of those days you'd rather not be on camera.
1:52Joanne McNally:But look, I'm a pro and I'm here.
1:53Vogue Williams:I think you look amazing like you're from the Matrix. That's what I think. Yeah, but I think I look like someone from the Fifth Element
1:59Joanne McNally:because the top is quite sci-fi and the glasses, I'm obviously trying to cover my teeny tiny piss-hole eyes. But because I was quite reserved, like it was just a lot of the time, especially when Brendan came, we were just having like, I was having a couple of glasses of wine at lunch and that was kind of, Vogue, you would have loved it. At one point, me and Brendan were on the beach talking shit and he's like, I'm really tired. I was like, I saw my, and I looked at my phone. I said, Brendan, we cannot go to, It's seven o 'clock in the evening. We cannot go to bed at seven.
2:28Vogue Williams:You can go to bed at seven. That's the best time to go to bed.
2:32Joanne McNally:I forced him to wait up until half nine. And then I was like, all right, go on. You can go to bed now.
2:36Vogue Williams:When the sun's still up and you get into bed, oh, I leave the curtain open. And I read that. I don't care.
2:41Joanne McNally:You're supposed to be like flailing around like a wet fish in the car park of Universal, licking the curb. Not just doing your skincare routine and reading your novella. Reading my book with the window open,
2:53Vogue Williams:knowing I'm the first to bed. I'm like, yeah.
2:57Joanne McNally:That's my high. Aroused by the smuggness of it all. Yeah. I know. So it was quite a calm trip, but I do feel a little tired. But the plane home, the airport home from Ibiza, now it's not as bad as it was.
3:13Vogue Williams:Spectacular. It's like Disneyland. I had a great time there.
3:15Joanne McNally:There was a lot of runny noses on the plane home, I would say.
3:19Vogue Williams:I love all the people falling asleep in the airport. Like there was one guy and he was just like flat out on the ground. nothing underneath them, just lying on the ground. And then I threw something at Amber because she was standing beside the bin, which was beside the man. And it landed beside him and he didn't even wake up. We couldn't pick it up just in case. And then just watching everyone falling asleep. I just love that. And I was smug, obviously, because I had been in bed at 11 o 'clock.
3:42Joanne McNally:Yeah, of course. Burger King does a great business.
3:45Vogue Williams:11 o 'clock, 7 o 'clock.
3:46Joanne McNally:2 p.m.
3:49Vogue Williams:The drug dealer I text sends me a list of fucks. These are actually really popular this summer.
3:57Joanne McNally:restaurant recommendations stuff like that yeah I beat the airport it's mostly the departures is mostly just zombies eating Burger King do you know what I was saying Imo you can tell me this as you are a British white person is she?
4:14Vogue Williams:are you Imo? do you know how many years I spent thinking Imo was from Australia our group is called Imo is Australian yeah when she told me she wasn't Australian I was like sorry? This whole time? For years I thought she was Australian.
4:29Joanne McNally:That's how involved folk is with the crew. And the blonde Aussie one, what's her name? Well to be fair actually, you do have a sunny vibe. Not obviously in what you say, but how you look. Thank you. You do. Doesn't she have a sunny look?
4:48Vogue Williams:She does have a sunny vibe and she has got a sunny personality when she's not recording this show. Yes, exactly.
4:54Joanne McNally:When she's free to live her own life. But I would say white British people, I wonder if this is okay to say, well, it's happening. It's coming out of my mouth. English, white British people go a level of brown that I don't see in white Irish people. So when I was in the airport, I was mesmerized by the mahogany skin. Like Irish white, we don't go that dark. there's definitely some genetic thing going on there like there was a girl and I was so jealous I fried myself look at me I'm whiter than when I went look at this look at that
5:38Vogue Williams:there is literally not an ounce of colour
5:41Joanne McNally:I don't even have a tan line and like I went down to the and like look I'm like you know tan responsibly blah blah blah but like I was down on the oils I was really going for it and at one point I was like oh I think I'm burning and I was real happy about it and I was like there's heat in that back there and there's heat in that back and obviously Brendan doesn't want to touch me so I couldn't get him to put any Peter Marnie on my back as a gay man obviously my skin I can't bear
6:06Vogue Williams:touching people's backs and I never it is very intimate I never ask anyone to do my back just in case they ask me to return the favour I'd rather scald I will scald my back Spenny goes that it is intimate
6:20Joanne McNally:Yeah and he's British white He's white Brit
6:23Vogue Williams:He's a white Brit And some people He put up this post And some people were like Oh my god What Fair by Vogue are you using I was like not Fair by Vogue I don't want to be associated with that That's not the colour we use
6:35Joanne McNally:But it is There is something Something different in you Imo It must be your Aussie Your Aussie background
6:44Vogue Williams:Imo's a ghost My father is a genre so I don't I don't tan that well what was that what was that girl who was on a who was doing a call with this woman who talks to ghosts and she talks about the child in the background
7:01Joanne McNally:oh yeah there's a ghost behind you there was a spirit Fiona it's so funny and the daughter's like that's very rude
7:15Vogue Williams:she looks like a ghost
7:17Joanne McNally:I forgot about that so funny

7:27Joanne McNally:the most exciting part of my Ibiza trip was also a very special thank you to the Hyde Hotel
7:34Vogue Williams:for putting up with you yeah
7:36Joanne McNally:did you stick to your own bedroom this time I just brought my business around as you know test all the rooms Duran let herself into a suite
7:46Vogue Williams:oh is this not my room? How did I not know?
7:49Joanne McNally:They were very nice to us. It wasn't a hashtag gifted situation but they were very sad.
7:54Vogue Williams:What I like to make that hotel is it was like the one that I stayed in Ibiza. It's like you can go out and have the crack but you can also like you can sleep and relax. Big time. Yeah.
8:05Joanne McNally:The most interesting thing to happen in Ibiza really was I watched Brendan Courtney eat a oyster the size of a child's leg. we were in a restaurant living our lives and someone a woman comes around to the table she's wearing like a chain mail glove yeah and she's like do you want me to like do you want to shuck an oyster kind of vibes like and she shucks it out so he was like yeah I'm not into I like to chew my food like an adult I don't like this chugging
8:32Vogue Williams:you can give it a little chew a little chew
8:34Joanne McNally:why don't people chew what is this why are people chugging why can't you chew an oyster what happens
8:39Vogue Williams:you do a little chew but you don't like chew it too much because it would get too seafood-y or something. Well, what's the point of them then? Listen, I went through, I took up oysters late in life. Of course. I took up oysters about three years ago and I loved oysters. And for about six months, all I wanted to eat was a bloody oyster. Then I went skiing and they had oysters on the menu and I thought, you know what, I'll have oysters because I love them. Forgetting I was 10 ,000 years away from the sea. I got such bad food poisoning that I could never, ever eat an oyster again.
9:12Joanne McNally:Yeah, that's fair. And they are the food of the posh. Now, that's nothing against you. I know you're salt to the earth. You're a vote from the block. But I... Apparently, they used to be a real working class food and then the posh people got their little paws on them and now they're delivered in this kind of like really fancy ice bowl.
9:31Vogue Williams:I know, I loved being fancy. Now all I eat is caviar, you know? Oh, God.
9:36Joanne McNally:I'm just slumming it.
9:37Vogue Williams:What is caviar?
9:39Joanne McNally:they're eggs aren't they
9:40Vogue Williams:fish fish eggs they just taste like salt I mean honestly
9:44Joanne McNally:the last you know about your food the better Pasha don't come for me
9:46Vogue Williams:who was I looking at and she was talking about Miranda Kerr and now she is absolutely beautiful but like she was talking to somebody oh yeah I'm really sure it was about it was Call Her Daddy and she was like no it was Morgan Stewart was interviewing her and she was like well what do you eat and she was like well I don't eat sushi oh god no sushi parasites I don't eat kale because like it's not good for you I don't eat this spinach because it's not good for you I'm like what do you eat?
10:14Joanne McNally:Yeah I know There's nothing left Well I mean I don't think both I don't think it's one or the other I think a woman can enjoy a dib dab and look good Yeah You know Also if I've got a parasite at this stage I'm 43 I'm far Frankly I enjoy the company If I have one in me I'm not going to get rid of it I love animals I'm an animal lover Stay in there Do you know what I mean? stay in there like what's the you know what I mean I watch these TikTok videos where people pulling worms out of women's arses I'm like I just don't believe it I'm not buying it fake news
10:46Vogue Williams:anyway I think it does it does happen tapeworms and they're very long I've seen them coming out of women's arses yeah
10:53Joanne McNally:so I started I started googling oysters because I was like what's the crock because Brendan didn't feel good okay and there was definitely a bit of a flex he felt the pressure she whipped out an absolutely huge one I was like chug chug so he did and then for the rest of the day He said he could feel it like moving inside him. And then we were trying to figure out, does it have a brain? And then, so there, Isaac, have you just chugged an animal? Like what? A live animal. A live animal. So they are alive, but they're not sentient. But they are alive. Like, I don't know. I'm not suggesting you can keep them as a pet.
11:28Joanne McNally:I just mean. To have it going around.
11:30Vogue Williams:Well, people do eat live things. I once had to eat alive worms on Bear Grylls. You wouldn't be able to do that now. but they were live worms and then I kind of just swallowed them because they tasted so bad and then he was like did you not chew them and I was like no was I meant to chew them or they're just going to wriggle around in my body forever
11:46Joanne McNally:Why can't you eat worms anymore have they unionised I missed all that
11:50Vogue Williams:I don't know I just don't think you're allowed to eat animals on TV anymore Yeah
11:53Joanne McNally:well not live ones probably yeah I mean there's something off about anyway then I kind of went down a whole oyster hole and then Vogue was telling me about Noel Edmonds releasing two lobsters back into the sea and everyone's going mad. But actually, Peter were saying, fair play to you, Nell. They were like, yeah, of course, they're probably going to die immediately, but like they were going to die anyway. And we appreciate the sentiment.
12:17Vogue Williams:And the thought was there. Did you ever see those releasing videos? Somebody was releasing, I can't remember, it was a tiny fish back into the sea that they'd saved and the fish like swam for about four seconds and then it got eaten by a bird.
12:28Joanne McNally:Oh no.
12:31Vogue Williams:They mean well. They mean well. Yeah, the kindness is there. And that's what Noel Edmonds is up to these days. I did wonder, where has he gone? What's he doing? Neil's nemesis. Neil can't bear him. I don't know why. They look the same, but just can't bear Noel Edmonds. I must send him the story. He'll get a great kick out of that now.
12:50Joanne McNally:He said, Noel is enjoying a very, what seems to be, wholesome retirement on the Isle of Man with his wife. They seem to be very happy. They're just knocking around the place, kind of fucking breaking out animals and releasing them into the wild. Do you remember he was always, do you remember he started the radio show for the pets radio station and some sort of psychic phone line for your dogs? So there's always been a touch of that. Touch of that. Touch of that. Touch of that kindness. Touch of that kindness. Yeah. Anyway, we digress. Who are you interviewing?
13:20Vogue Williams:Now hang on, I want to know why you're in Manchester first.
13:22Joanne McNally:Well, I couldn't get a direct flight back from Ibiza to Dublin where I'm going back to do some work. and so I got a connecting flight but it was one of those connecting flights that you have to connect yourself
13:40Joanne McNally:instead of getting like instead of getting kind of meshed you know when they're like connecting and they shimmy you in like one of those little airport trucks and all your bags go with this was a more oh I have to get my own bags and all and of course because I was in charge of it myself I missed the connecting flight oh no sorry also do you know it takes 25 minutes to get from Terminal 1 to Terminal 3 in Manchester Airport I did not
14:06Vogue Williams:well if I do you know what if I was flying through Manchester Airport I probably would have known that yes and I would have I would be in Dublin I'd be in Pat's house now and look at you
14:15Joanne McNally:you will be you will be I was used to do a voiceover there this morning and all of it's it's people aren't pleased with me but I was like where's my emergency truck I was like I'm going to have to get an Uber to the next terminal people aren't pleased with me she's pulled a Joanne I did now do you know what I held my shit together till the very last day and then yeah some stuff started kind of falling to the wayside and you booked your flight
14:38Vogue Williams:with five minutes before and you're like oh it's weird I can't get back to Ireland
14:43Joanne McNally:but they sold it was sold to me as something possible
14:49Vogue Williams:you're someone that wouldn't really care that like that's happened I'd have an like I would have a canary isn't that what they say I'd have a canary you people relying on you
14:59Joanne McNally:no you people rely no one cares if I live or die well you had people relying on you for a voiceover that's professional reliance
15:06Vogue Williams:that's totally different remember we were in Dubai we got to Dubai and like we were we were flying home after we did Ghosted out there and like they were like sorry you're actually not booked on the plane and Joanne was like but like I am booked on the plane they were like yeah we've overbooked it and she was like okay and I was like okay okay I would have I'd die and then only something happened someone didn't show up and she was let on I was like you were really cool about that
15:32Joanne McNally:yeah I didn't care I know it's the it's it's like I say there's a certain there's a certain freedom to being a single person freedom forward slash loneliness forward slash freedom again and my feelings change on it hour to hour but I was halfway through Manchester airport on this pilgrimage to the Terminal 3 and I literally just I just lost the will to live I just sat down and I was like, fuck this. It's too much after Ibiza. It's too much after Ibiza. I have two suitcases, two carry-ons because I was going to do the photo shoot out there.
16:05Vogue Williams:Two suitcases?
16:06Joanne McNally:Yeah. Fucking hell. Anyway, that's why I'm in Manchester. And when I say the accent... I know the accent is delicious, isn't it? Very good. Very good. Had all those lads on the plane back not been 18 and on drugs.
16:21Vogue Williams:Yeah. Was it a Ryanair flight home? I would have been
16:26Joanne McNally:winking mac winking however they were way too young and high so I left it
16:31Vogue Williams:were they still high or not asleep
16:33Joanne McNally:well there was there was definitely there was a mix of the two I'd say oh my god that's what I it's like a death plane it's kind of like it's a plane of two tails it's like Lost
16:44Vogue Williams:the show Lost you're just kind of in this weird vortex yeah
16:54Joanne McNally:Speaking of weird vortex Yeah I want to talk about yesteryear Okay and then we want to talk about Nara Smith
17:06Vogue Williams:Not just Nara Smith the whole trad wife
17:10Joanne McNally:Exactly and her husband Lucky Smith Where do we start?
17:16Vogue Williams:Lucky's a good name Lucky's a ride
17:18Joanne McNally:Apparently they all It's very common For Mormons To give themselves To give their kids Like really whimsical names It's like a whole thing Also I think one of her kids Is called Whimsy Woo Or something Whimsy I think she's One of her kids Has just No has just Gotten the all clear From cancer I think that's whimsical I have her kids names here Rumba Hully Smith Slim Easy Smith Phony Golden Smith Whimsy Lou Smith Scratch Cooking Videos And I'm sorry That's what she does
17:46Vogue Williams:but god poor scratch cooking they didn't do very well out of the name game I love those names all of those names are cool Honey Boo Boo I was going to say these are making your child's potential name look boring by comparison I should write when I announced the birth of our child I should put it in the caption Nara Smith's children are called blah blah blah so I thought about using it as inspiration but then I decided to go with plain old
18:14Joanne McNally:scratch cooking
18:17Vogue Williams:yeah so you finished yesteryear it got a lot towards the end I was about to say
18:23Joanne McNally:trigger warning not trigger warning spoiler alert spoiler alert yeah we are going to talk like yesteryear
18:28Vogue Williams:I'm not going to
18:30Joanne McNally:say the end and I have 30 minutes left in my audio
18:34Vogue Williams:you had 30 minutes left last week no 47 okay
18:38Joanne McNally:I think I had an hour in town but also because I'm doing this audibly I tend to rewind a lot of stuff because I'm obviously I get distracted by just seeing things That's why I can't listen
18:51Vogue Williams:to audio at all I'm like oh god I've done the Christmas shopping in my head and I don't know what's happening in the book Exactly
18:57Joanne McNally:So there has and also because Diestrear gets so insane at the end I'm genuinely going to be like what? And then I'm like scratching back 30 seconds 30 seconds 30 seconds You have read it
19:09Vogue Williams:haven't you? I've read the whole thing and I was it was very confusing and I did I actually even from reading it I did go back a few pages I was like what have I missed here but there's nothing that you missed it is a good book it is worth a read
19:24Joanne McNally:it is actually because remember we both there was one point where we were both a bit disenchanted with it and then I've actually come back around to it now completely and like I do feel like there's a lot to be said if you keep going back to listen or to read something you're obviously enjoying it do you know what I mean like you are like you know I give up on stuff all the time but the end someone messaged me and she was like the end is so insane because I thought I was I felt like I was on fentanyl when I was trying to make sense of the end it hits a point you're like ah here
19:49Vogue Williams:what the hell I know yeah but that's what makes it so you'll never in a million years guess the ending not in a bazillion years but there is a woman there is a trad wife that's like that but anyway Nara Smith went on the Call Her Daddy podcast
20:07Joanne McNally:she did now she's been on a few podcasts for anyone living under a rock will be explaining who Nara Smith is.
20:12Vogue Williams:Yes.
20:13Joanne McNally:Nara Smith is a, she's only 24 years of age.
20:19Vogue Williams:Well, she's 25, but she has four children.
20:23Joanne McNally:Yeah.
20:24Vogue Williams:At 25. Do you know what I was saying to Jamie Thiekson, who I'm doing the radio show with at the moment the other day? I was like, there is no, and this is no shade to anyone who wants to have kids young. But for me, I just, honestly, I just wouldn't have been able for it.
20:39Joanne McNally:Yeah.
20:39Vogue Williams:I think you have to, it's just so full on how she's done all that she really obviously has her shit together
20:44Joanne McNally:yeah well I think she's spoken about this as well so she's a huge TikToker basically she's one of the biggest content creators online she's married to a guy Lucky Smith who is was a giant supermodel like was kind of front page of GQ magazine
20:58Vogue Williams:yeah he still is
20:59Joanne McNally:I don't know if he's as big as he was I think she's now she's the star
21:03Vogue Williams:she's the star I'd say she's the main breadwinner but he is going out and about and do like he models for Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren and he's gorgeous. So he was a Mormon or he is a Mormon.
21:17Joanne McNally:The two of them are freakishly attractive. They're like, especially in Arab. She's like freakishly hot and it seems to be all natural as far as I'm aware.
21:28Vogue Williams:I don't know if it is natural. Emma, you'll have to check me there. Do you know what? I don't care if it is or not. She still looks great but I just, I'm unsure if it is all natural. Yeah. it's always nice to know I'm sure I'm sure
21:42Joanne McNally:I know spoofers in the world
21:45Vogue Williams:that was like when I was googling Juleepa because she was such a riot it made me feel bad about myself and I was like it's a Juleepa before and after and they were just the same I was like damn
21:57Joanne McNally:feminism's not sometimes feminism's hard okay sometimes you need to know someone's had a facelift to support them I'm sorry it's just the way it is makes you feel better about yourself yeah I can't be progressive all the time. There's a special place in hell for women who don't tell other women they've had a facelift. Put that in a tote bag.
22:17Vogue Williams:Yeah, 100%. Well, now, I was like that about the old Botox for a while. So I'm glad that I've... You were.
22:24Joanne McNally:You were.
22:24Vogue Williams:I mean, it was so obvious. You couldn't miss... Look at the state of my name. I've never, ever seen such movements. It's terrifying. I feel like I look like my brother now. Which one?
22:34Joanne McNally:Frederick. You don't look like... Sorry, I shouldn't even ask which one. You don't look like either of them. If you said also, I would be like, yeah, actually, yeah.
22:42Vogue Williams:Emil, anything? Maybe I'm wrong. Google's AI overview says that she has not confirmed any plastic surgery or cosmetic procedures.
22:51Joanne McNally:They're both supermodels. They met at some runway party, fashion, like champagne event, whatever, some Gucci thing years ago. And he is very traditional. So she's basically been, what we're saying is, cosplaying that kind of tradwife culture online where she does these, like I've written down here, scratch cooking videos and it's this kind of ASMR voice. It's like this, like my husband said this morning.
23:15Vogue Williams:And she's wearing like a Schiaparelli gown and like these clothes that are like 15 grand.
23:20Joanne McNally:So I made chewing gum from scratch. It's this, my children said they wanted scones. So I, you know, built a beehive to make honey. Like it's all that shit, right? And so, I mean.
23:31Vogue Williams:I would have saw a girl make paper because she said her kids wanted to draw. That can't be real. I swear to God she made paper and colours and I'm like go to the shop come on this is time wasting here
23:43Joanne McNally:that's ridiculous I mean look a lot of it sometimes it's clickbait and that's ragebait now to be fair to any mother trying to keep her shit together
23:52Vogue Williams:remember that Christmas I was texting you and you were trying to ring me and I was like I actually can't answer I was so deep into watching Nara Smith that I couldn't stop and I didn't want to lose my place on her Instagram it is so it's so engaging to watch
24:05Joanne McNally:That was your annual call from Evogue and you didn't answer it. I can't, Joanne. I'll lose my spot. You won't be getting one again now. Lose my spot. I have to say, and I know people, she's hugely popular. She's got millions of followers. I do find it annoying and I find the voice, I find that affected intentionally. I find the voice irritating. She's more like a Disney princess with a KitchenAid sponsorship.
24:34Vogue Williams:It kind of makes me feel like I'm poisoning my family, if I'm honest, because she goes on about when she's cooking all this stuff from scratch. And I'm like, oh, God, I'm just I'm just nowhere near that. It's a it's a it's a trad wife cosplay. Didn't you tell me she cooks for 12 hours a day? And it's just like, so she's essentially filming for 12 hours a day. But like the thing about it is like I look at the stuff that she's doing and she's on a farm and she's going out like collecting all these veg and stuff. It's idyllic. you kind of forget that behind that she's not really she's just flinging the veg aside and just walking back in someone else is bringing that veg in
25:10Joanne McNally:it's fake news it's kind of yeah and I think that's why women are annoyed now with the whole thing because you're monetising a like a kind of a female oppression really or you're presenting it as kind of this idyllic wholesome lifestyle but really behind the scenes that's not the situation at all anyway the tide has turned I think it's actually also connected to the Esterear thing I'm like why is she suddenly on call her daddy she has done pods in the past but people are saying she's like what do you mean I'm a traffic I never said I was a traffic you projected that on me it's like ah come on now Nara if it looks like a tree and smells like a tree it's a tree you knew what you were doing and now it's falling out of favour
25:48Vogue Williams:and I just think when you're kind of it's like it's selling a life to these women that are following it and actually not being truthful about it because behind the scenes you are making a lot of money and you are working do you know what I saw on the paper at the other day I saw remember I was doing my little trad wife thing where I would pretend to do little recipes but like listen I'm no Nara Smith and so I was just cooking normal things and I saw this thing and it was like
26:11Joanne McNally:it's just like waffles and all like beans on toast
26:15Vogue Williams:the worst celebrity chefs and I it was me and Brooklyn Beckham you're joking me and I was taken down for my cleanliness so they were like she's touching the chicken and then touching other stuff I was like oh god where was this it was in the Daily Mail obviously
26:37Joanne McNally:oh my god of course
26:39Vogue Williams:I'm obsessed with you
26:41Joanne McNally:you should just call it the Daily Vogue and be done with us pregnant Vogue Williams pregnant pregnant Vogue Williams those videos you were clearly like that that wasn't a serious there might have been
26:53Vogue Williams:contamination going on I don't know yeah
26:55Joanne McNally:there might have been a couple of deaths come on come on you know It was a stomach bug. It wasn't me. I like to think I'm, I like to not know if I'm going to survive one of your meals, Vogue. It's thrilling.
27:08Vogue Williams:Like you can talk. I went into Joanne's kitchen, which is downstairs and her room is on the top floor. And I was like, Joanne, there's eggs frying here. And she's like, yeah, they're grand. Just leave them. Did I? I was like, are you sure?
27:23Joanne McNally:That's how I cook omelettes.
27:25Vogue Williams:You just, you just fuck off out of the kitchen and cook it. I can't do it. And they can fend for themselves.
27:30Joanne McNally:They're not going to fry any quicker when I'm watching them.
27:33Vogue Williams:That actually makes sense. I leave them to do their own thing.
27:35Joanne McNally:I give them their own privacy and I go off and I do my bits and I come back and they're ready. And then I spend two years trying to clean the pan. Standard. But the Nara Smith thing, I think what is interesting about it, and I think the reason the internet's having such a strong reaction to it is, you were selling a certain, you were selling tradwifery and now it's fallen out of favour and you're denying and you're kind of gaslighting us a little bit now and I like you. I like you. I prefer your real voice but you're kind of gaslighting the girl else now by saying you're just projecting stuff onto me.
28:08Joanne McNally:Come on now. Like if you did the math and everything she was preparing she would have been 48 hours a day in the kitchen. It's, it's, and yes, I get it. Sometimes I'm like it's kind of just installation art almost because she is wearing these like couture outfits and stuff.
28:20Vogue Williams:Incredible outfits.
28:21Joanne McNally:But I do think you're better off and you go, do you know what? Yeah, it was a bit trad wifey because that was kind of a hot thing at the time. She's in the Mormon community. He's a Mormon. Mormons are traditional and they do cash. That has been proven to me. Someone confirmed that for me. So I am obviously myself, I'm going to be in Salt Lake City on October 8th. Tickets available. Lots of them. I am willing to trad it up if you want me to. I'll bring my air fryer. someone else's baby in a rolling pin
28:55Vogue Williams:she'll put the eggs on in London and fly to Salt Lake City our friend Dan our friend Dan lives in New York and he sent me this thing and it's a sign outside a shop and it's like come in it's like ketamine therapy so in New York you can literally just walk in somewhere and you can do ket therapy so it is a thing
29:16Joanne McNally:over there oh yeah big time like a Mormon so and Nara doesn't do this either that they don't drink coffee.
29:22Vogue Williams:What?
29:23Joanne McNally:Why? So it's, yeah, but Lucky's family are all, they're big, they're heavily involved in the Mormon church and the community and now it's been seen reading the Mormon book and I think that is why they ended up getting married so young with their kids at 18 and they are living a more slightly traditional life. Yeah. I don't know, what I was saying, they are doing things quite speedily and it is, they are, I would call it quite a traditional life but like, whatever, like it's none of my business, they can do what they want but when she denied selling the kind of trad wife aesthetic. I was like, that's just bullshit now, Nara, come on.
29:54Joanne McNally:She's making her money for a place for it.
29:55Vogue Williams:So they're kind of turning their backs on it now, are they?
29:58Joanne McNally:I think so, yeah. I think it's falling out of favour now because... Because it's just... I think we see it as the facade that it is, do you know what I mean? And the problem with trad wifing, the actual trad wifing is women have no power, no money, they can't... They've no autonomy in the marriage and it's kind of, it's incredibly toxic. But like when Nara Smith's selling it as a kind of a couture experience, it becomes more appealing but it's not real it's not real but neither is anything on the internet I guess
30:23Vogue Williams:I think if you're a woman go out there and do what you want have a job or stay at home whatever you choose to do
30:36Vogue Williams:Did you hear the news about Raygun? Well you did because you actually sent it
30:39Joanne McNally:Sorry Raygun has a Netflix documentary about her and Netflix are very lucky they've finally given me a special
30:48Vogue Williams:Yes, I'm sorry. Can we have a moment for that? Joanne McNally has a special on Netflix.
30:55Joanne McNally:Yeah, it's going to Netflix. I know it's very, I'm very excited. I'm not particularly sentimental and I wouldn't be full of feeling about things.
31:04Vogue Williams:Netflix was always one of your things that you really wanted to achieve.
31:08Joanne McNally:Big time. It was kind of the goal. I'm a bit troubled now. I'm like, I don't know. I'll have to go back to the drawing board now. she's going to switch careers up again
31:17Vogue Williams:she's going to go back into PR if anyone needs some public relations
31:21Joanne McNally:I've always wanted to be a nurse go back to nursing now but like I say Netflix they're very lucky they finally cracked I did have to go to LA and doorstep them to get it but anyway it's not the point because if I knew that Ray Gunn had a documentary on Netflix and I was still here with my little fists out like Oliver Twist please sir gotta have some more I would have been absolutely fuming
31:48Vogue Williams:what's Ray Gunn's documentary God love her
31:51Joanne McNally:like I don't know Emma Google it there is she
31:53Vogue Williams:is she
31:55Joanne McNally:it's like the story that won't die it's like do you know the way we've all had kind of embarrassing moments in our lives and there's a lot of talk at the moment about how like everything worth having is on the other side of cringe and how you kind of push through that feeling and I do believe that like I think calling someone cringe it's like it's not really a great slag really you're just kind of saying that you've more, or you're a bit kind of, what would I say? You're maybe a bit envious that they have the balls to do something you don't have the balls to do. Like, I don't think it's a fair criticism.
32:26Joanne McNally:However, we all do it. But this woman, imagine having an experience that humiliating and the story will not die. It just won't die. Like, how do you cope? I think it's,
32:40Vogue Williams:I don't know. Did she definitely not know that she was that bad.
32:45Joanne McNally:The woman has taken breakdancing off the Olympic itinerary. I mean, it's just...
32:54Vogue Williams:And it wasn't her fault at the end of the day. Who else, like, tried to join from Australia? It's a very big country. I think... I was talking about the story that her brother has been done for some kind of crypto crime, hasn't he?
33:05Joanne McNally:Oh, God, I'd say she... I'd say she begged him to do that.
33:09Vogue Williams:Just please take the evil...
33:10Joanne McNally:Please, God, take the fall, will you? Yeah. crypto like no one cares about it do something crypto-ish I want to know is she involved in the documentary or is this kind of is this going to be another kind of like Tyra Banks in America's Next Top Model documentary where they kind of annihilate her or is she in on it are they going to be saying to her what's going to happen because
33:31Vogue Williams:Untold Raygun Breaking Badly takes viewers inside the rise, fall and reinvention of polarising figure Rachel Raygun Gun
33:41Joanne McNally:Raygun Gun
33:42Vogue Williams:it's a double barrel Raygun Gun Raygun in inverted commas Gun
33:47Joanne McNally:what's the set Gun what's the that's good title
33:51Vogue Williams:Rachel Gun Raygun
33:55Vogue Williams:I thought her name was Raygun Rachel Gun Rachel Gun is her name her name is Rachel Gun and therefore they shortened it to Raygun yeah oh I didn't know that so listen I wasn't here to talk about her Netflix documentary I was here to talk about her brother going to prison for 12 months, the crypto crimes.
34:14Joanne McNally:But this is much more interesting. Well, because I did wonder, because like I say, I think for her, if I was her publicist, because I am an ex-publicist, I would be like, this is your time to kind of take back the narrative and explain your situation and get people kind of on your side and stop kind of annihilating you. So I really hope that she is heavily involved in this. and that it's a passion piece rather than another takedown. Do you know what I mean?
34:43Vogue Williams:No, I don't think it would be another takedown because that would just be cruel. It would be. But I heard they were making something on that Willy Wonka thing as well. You know, the thing that they had up in Glasgow, the Willy Wonka experience that never was.
34:55Joanne McNally:Oh, that'd be great. That'd be really good.
34:59Vogue Williams:There's a really good one to watch on Netflix at the moment. I've heard the Concordia. It's about that boat, that crash. Now it killed like 36 people but basically the captain had brought it too close to shore to go and wave at people and he completely grounded the whole boat. It still sits there years later. He was one of the first off the boat. The Concordia is such an amazing story because he literally, the captain of the ship once just show off by waving at people that were on the shore of this island ended up grounding the whole boat. I think about 36 people died but the big thing was he got off the boat as one of the first and as the captain you're meant to make sure that everybody gets off the boat safely there you sit on the shore
35:42Joanne McNally:you gotta go down with the ship you gotta go down with the ship look at the Titanic
35:47Vogue Williams:yeah well we don't have that that was very brave in the Titanic when he just stood at the wheel no choice at the wheel what's it called?
35:58Joanne McNally:I guess it is called a wheel I don't know I never really thought about it before
36:03Vogue Williams:it's very stoic of him not like your mind just waiting on the side to be arrested. He is in prison now. I think he got life imprisonment. The ship driver? The captain, yeah. Well, 36 people died because he wanted to show off.
36:18Joanne McNally:Oh my God. I know. I like a wave as much as the next man, but that's outrageous. Were the 36 people that died, did you just drive into them on the shore or were they on the boat?
36:30Vogue Williams:They were on the boat. They were on the boat and the boat's still there because it's going to cost so much money to try and take the boat away from the site that they've just left it there. It's a huge cruise ship. I'm obsessed with cruise ships. I just, I find everything about them fascinating. I don't know if I'll ever find myself on one, but I just think that they are like, it's such an, have you ever watched this thing on YouTube as well? There's another one to watch of people who miss the tender back to the cruise ship and the cruise ship fucks off without them because there's a certain time and if you miss the time, the cruise is going with all your belongings and it's tough luck.
37:06Joanne McNally:There was a woman died recently. I read it. I was sorry, I listened to an interview. Her daughter was on Oprah or something. I might have to fact check that. There was a woman died. They left her on the island behind and it took them two days to realise she wasn't even there.
37:21Vogue Williams:Yeah, an older woman. An older woman. The Grief Gazette is back here. Yeah, I know.
37:26Joanne McNally:But I mean, it just needs to be said. It's actually quite serious. That captain, that captain, I guarantee that was for Instagram he was doing that.
37:34Vogue Williams:yeah he could have been initially I thought he was waving at a girl but it turns out he was walking I think one of the ship's people had asked the captain oh can we go in close my friends are on that island we want to wave at them and the captain agreed
37:48Joanne McNally:this is content gone wrong this is like the stories where you hear people who are trying to take a selfie with a view in the back and they fall off or a cliff yeah
37:57Vogue Williams:there's loads of ones of them that are terrifying god Right, I have to go. It's Spencer's birthday and we are going for lunch and I'm going to go shopping with him and buy him a gift.
38:10Joanne McNally:Is he 40 yet now? No, he's fucking...
38:12Vogue Williams:You won't believe what age he is. Guess.
38:15Joanne McNally:Well, for legal reasons, I hope he's at least 24. He's 38. Oh, for God. Hurry up, Spencer.
38:23Vogue Williams:Hurry up. I know. How is he 38? And then I'm like, oh my God, you settled down really young. Too young.
38:30Joanne McNally:It's because his family's got money. He somehow figured out how to delay time.
38:34Vogue Williams:He should have been 40 years ago.
38:37Joanne McNally:They're stealing time off of their people.
38:42Vogue Williams:That's what he's doing. I'll give you 500 grand for two years. Okay, so. They're like done. Bye everyone. Thanks for listening.
38:51Joanne McNally:Nara, I mean, if you wouldn't mind a reshare, I'll tag her in the poster. see what she does with that
39:00Vogue Williams:I dare you tag her and see if anything happens I dare you
39:02Joanne McNally:I actually love the voice I think it'd make it lower yeah I think it'd make it more like more kind of whimsical
39:09Vogue Williams:be more narrow
