In short
The hosts discuss being scammed while on tour in America (Alcatraz ticket scam; overpriced “value” offers), plus everyday cultural differences (plastic/cardboard food items, recycling/stray plastic), and then pivot to a listener email about “Cheat GPT” validating a husband’s emotional/sexual fantasies. They argue emotional affairs can be as bad or worse than physical ones, especially when a partner uses AI to rationalize behavior.
Guests
No named guests appear; it’s a two-host episode (Joe and Jo) with a listener letter read by the hosts.
Key claims
ChatGPT can normalize wrongdoing; deleting AI chats is advised. Emotional betrayal (e.g., fantasizing and emotional intimacy) is often more insulting than physical cheating.
Notable examples
Alcatraz booking via fake website; Sacramento show attendance; husband’s ChatGPT chats about a colleague’s “future together” and sexual fantasies; advice to leave and not trust.

0:18Joanne McNally:I will disappear briefly because I'm busting for a piss because I went to the pub at lunchtime.
0:22Vogue Williams:Okay then, start chatting.
0:24Joanne McNally:Are we leaving that bit in, Jo?
0:26Vogue Williams:Yeah, I think we should. No, that is unacceptable Start talking
0:32Joanne McNally:Joe's just told us something bold
0:34Vogue Williams:Joe is doing bold things Joe always does bold things I know about them I feel like I'd be a good investigator Because I always know when someone's up to something You know?
0:45Joanne McNally:Yeah
0:46Vogue Williams:I can see, I can sense it off him
0:49Joanne McNally:Yeah, when he came on the podcast
0:51Vogue Williams:It's like he is up to something And that hair is unusually high today
0:56Joanne McNally:Joe would melt. It is. And it does. Not like, I don't mean, I don't mean he's like doing drugs. I just mean, he's gone now. We can say it every once.
1:07Vogue Williams:He's selling crack to kids. Joe's not on the pod right now because he went and did loads of drugs at lunchtime.
1:15Joanne McNally:Yeah. He's selling crack to children. That's what he's doing.
1:19Vogue Williams:That's what I heard. I'm not, allegedly. Chuck in and allegedly. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
1:23Joanne McNally:Now you can leave the angel. I know, sure. I tried to buy drugs off him. I tried to buy drugs often he said I only sell to kids
1:29Vogue Williams:he actually I have tried to buy them often before to an adult I had only met him after he'd done the school run and he'd run out completely right he'd run out of two schools and then I met him and he was out and he was drink driving yeah oh yeah I forgot about that yeah yeah yeah totally and he paid off the cops though
1:48Joanne McNally:the cops
1:49Vogue Williams:the cops excuse me are the cops coming after you I can
1:53Joanne McNally:I still speak your language you don't need to learn any language just because I'm in America
1:58Vogue Williams:Is your trash can full? I still speak Well what is that word that you say in America? It's diaper changed No you say almonds
2:10Joanne McNally:Is that not an American way of saying it? No they say herbs They're not arsed with a H They say herbs And I've started saying chips now instead of crisps I'm bilingual, I'm on the Duolingo they're very appreciative of us she's turned very American I'm very American I was doing so obviously I'm in America unless I'm sure that was clear but there was a man so I'm in Sacramento and can I just say Sacramento had a bit of a Winnipeg vibe and if anyone is a long term listener they'll know Winnipeg was very slow to sell and then they ended up having to paper it which means they give free tickets to people and then they came in they didn't know who I was they didn't give a shit and it wasn't it wasn't a great experience right whatever it happens it's the business so I was like I love knowing little
3:01Vogue Williams:insider bits like this because you'd never know that like you're not supposed I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to tell people that you're meant to just be like oh look I sold out
3:11Joanne McNally:yeah I don't know I like the transparency of it all and so anyway Sacramento the sales weren't great like I mean I'm not being bad but like of course they're not great.
3:23Vogue Williams:Sacramento, is that over the bridge from California, from San Francisco? Yes. Yeah, okay. That's a bit random. Yes, exactly.
3:30Joanne McNally:So I'm like on the West Coast. It is a bit random. And like the club that I was in, it's the punchline, like I was getting a taxi to it last night and it's literally in the middle of an hour. It's beside basically the Californian equivalent of Mattress Mick. It's like an industrial apartment beside a mattress shop, right? Mattress Mick. So I went in. He's written a book.
3:49Vogue Williams:Do you know that?
3:49Joanne McNally:No.
3:50Vogue Williams:Yeah. I'm pretty sure I've seen that book. No! I think he gave it to Amber. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm sure he's written a book. Did you give him a quote? Did you give him a quote? The best mattresses in town. Here's the drug lord. He's back. You can't cut it out, Joe. It was too long.
4:07Joanne McNally:Joe, you can't cut anything. And we said allegedly. You can't cut anything what we've said about you. I didn't. I got my pass. I got locked out of the studio so I had to go and find my pass from security. well we said you were off selling drugs to kids and you have to leave it in we said allegedly so sorry go on Sacramento sorry Sacramento right so anyway I go out and I was like this is this could be a shit show it was one of my favourite shows I've ever done in my life they were so nice there was about 100 there was about 100 people now I was like even 100 at this stage like it's an honour and a privilege in Sacramento do you know what I mean
4:46Vogue Williams:Was that not even through flyering? That was like general genuine tickets
4:52Joanne McNally:Actual purchases They actually said Yeah they said we didn't even need to flyer And I was like Because I was like 100 I was like oh god And they were like That's actually quite good for a Sunday In Sacramento Yeah We're basically in the middle of an hour So 100 people It was Joyful Right They were like It was just lovely Anyway I was chatting to them after I went out after And Just was like Chatting to them and stuff And one guy came up And he's like I love your podcast He's like I learn absolutely nothing. Excuse me? Yeah, I said, that's kind of our angle. Like, we keep it light. He said, I know nothing at the end.
5:26Joanne McNally:I know less, I know nothing about anything. I learn nothing.
5:30Vogue Williams:I would just like to say, at one point, I tried to bring in scientific facts and stuff like that. Neither of you were interested. None of you wanted to expand your brains.
5:39Joanne McNally:It's Joe won't let us. I could do 20 minutes on Trump's tariffs and he'd just fucking cut it all. That's why I'm like, you can't cut the drugs, chat Joe.
5:45Vogue Williams:because the FBI will break your door down you're still there you can't say that there I love it here I do like it there I like that they have so much there's so much stuff everything is just like you've got too much shit it would really like work for me over there like I know the DHL man's name here he's never not at my house and the FedEx guy
6:08Joanne McNally:yeah yeah yeah
6:09Vogue Williams:he's like hiya Vogue
6:10Joanne McNally:I'm like how are you today
Read the full transcript
6:11Vogue Williams:now in fairness I'm basing that off a few TikTok people that I've seen you know you're one in particular who has like 7 ,000 things for her daughter's lunchbox and then she replenishes her daughter's like her daughter's like table of makeup of just full of shite that you're like Jesus Christ the world is burning because of you so yeah I would like it there because of that
6:30Joanne McNally:I was so I'm staying in like average like normal hotels because obviously the way the tour works it's like I'm not doing big rooms over here so you kind of you adjust your wallet accordingly so I'm staying in like you know there's nothing nothing plush happening over here however they're not like motels they're like they're normal hotels and I ran ran down the other day in San Francisco and I was like can I get some like cutlery and a plate because I've ordered take out it's American
7:03Vogue Williams:sorry takeaway for our UK and Irish listeners takeaway takeaway
7:07Joanne McNally:just yeah you might have to put subtitles on me Jo because I'm in America now and I'm very absolutely
7:11Vogue Williams:Absolutely. No, sidewalk, sidewalk, sidewalk.
7:13Joanne McNally:I'm speaking the lingo, you know. Tomato. Anyway. Tomato. Sorry, that's tomato, yeah.
7:19Vogue Williams:Oh, yeah. Tomato.
7:23Joanne McNally:So anyway, they sent up a cardboard, like a paper plate, like for a child's party and some plastic cutlery. So obviously I'm a grown woman, so I rang down. I was like, hello, can I get the adult bits, please? And they're like, that's all we have. And I was like, what? So I put it on Insta and I was like, this is so grim. I'm eating off a cardboard plate in a hotel room. It's kind of depressing. I hate those wooden cutlery as well. Not even wooden, proper plastic. Now, meanwhile, obviously, I'm washing out my yogurt cartons to get these bin men who are gaslighting me to take my recycling. And over here, they're literally setting fire to straws morning, noon and night.
7:57Joanne McNally:So I put it up on Insta and I was like, about the cardboard plate. And the amount of DMs I got from people saying, oh, yeah, like I've gone to weddings where they buy really expensive champagne and put them in plastic glasses. They're like, the Americans love a bit of plastic paper situation, which I was quite shocked at.
8:16Vogue Williams:Well, do you know what I always happen to think, and this is going to sound terrible as well, I'm having Christmas in my house and I'm hosting it, but I'm getting somebody to help me prep the food the day before. And when I say help me, I'm not doing it. Someone else is doing it. Oh, yeah. Because I've loads of people and they drop it up and then you cook it and then it's all in tinfoil. Yeah. I will be sous-chefing.
8:38Joanne McNally:They're helping you not do it, which is literally their job. Great. I'm sous-cheffing. I'm just not in the same place as them.
8:45Vogue Williams:Yeah. Well, I'm not even supervising, to be honest with you. That's my Christmas present. You'll zoom in. I'm like, you're welcome. This is your Christmas present. So they're putting it all in this tinfoil that then you throw out at the end. Like, you know that you put your turkey in and stuff like that, because I'm like, there's less washing. And then I was even like, I wonder now, would it be too far to have a paper plate? that's how lazy I am I was going to get paper plates and then I thought I can't do that what? for Christmas lunch? it was a fleeting you thought it was a fleeting I am a mother of four children I don't have time to clean people's plates anymore
9:22Joanne McNally:I knew this would start she chose to do this and I knew I knew I'm a mother of four it was going to start it's come quicker than I thought the days are long but the years no the years are long but the days are short
9:36Joanne McNally:no one held you down and impregnated you is it the other way around you made these decisions yourself it is the other way the days are long but the years are short
9:44Vogue Williams:the days are long but the years are short I saw my good friend Kim Kardashian posted that the other day and I went straight to the comments and everyone's like yeah right you've got 11 nannies do you know
9:57Joanne McNally:the guy's thing about the whole nanny situation is like nanny is a very fancy term for childcare care and most people have child care don't they?
10:06Vogue Williams:Didn't Tommy Fury go on about Kim Kardashian having like I think she does have a lot of nannies which is fine it's her it's whatever she wants to do and we actually don't know what she has but he went on about it and then but he has a nanny as well and everyone's like but you have a nanny
10:22Joanne McNally:A very triggering term for people because I think people like really don't like raising their kids on their own really stress it seems to be really stressful so i think they understandably resent when they look online and see someone kind of glowing with their kids in the park and they're like fuck you you've you've helped you know that they don't have i guess i get it i'd love a nanny i'd love
10:50Vogue Williams:a nanny for myself personally people i still get that all the time they're like she probably has an a chef and a night nanny. I don't have any of those things. I know. I'm very honest about what I do have. Jesus. And like, what would they prefer that I leave the kids at home on their own? Then I'll get in more trouble. Which is less hassle? Leaving them here on their own or having a nanny? I'd like to know. What will I get less shit for?
11:13Joanne McNally:Sometimes I get messages about you having nannies.
11:16Vogue Williams:I know. Nanny. Nanny.
11:18Joanne McNally:And I work. Jesus. Yeah, she's got... Exactly. That's what I mean. It's not like she's just putting the kid... You know, it's not like, I remember James Blunt telling me when we were doing Traders that he was like, I think he was five and he was dropped off a boarding scale. They do. Some of them go at seven. Well, he went at five, which is younger than seven. Are you sure they can go five?
11:39Vogue Williams:No, he went at seven. That is, that. He went at seven. Okay.
11:44Joanne McNally:It's so young. Like, imagine I shipped tea off. Seven years of age. Now, his parents were in the military, so they traveled around a lot. he went at seven years of age and he said that like he's a really interesting guy I was going to say actually I don't have to say actually like he's a really interesting guy but he's really funny as well he's really funny yeah and his wife is great and they have a lovely life and great kids but he was saying he went up to the teacher and he was like when are my parents they didn't explain to him what was happening and he was like when are my parents coming back for me and she said Christmas oh my god
12:17Vogue Williams:he didn't even go home at weekends now would you mind asking him would you mind asking him the name of that boarding school I just was wondering about he's eight now so
12:30Joanne McNally:Joe you can go and sell your drugs there
12:38Joanne McNally:I tried to go to Alcatraz the other day I want I really wanted to go to Alcatraz I was doing a nice little walk in San Francisco and I saw some like kind of building on an island and I was like is that fucking is that Alcatraz? Chachi B.T. It was. I fucking booked a ticket to go and see Alcatraz but it was a fake website.
12:58Vogue Williams:Ah. Only you. Alcatraz scammed.
13:03Joanne McNally:I know. Oh my God. I know. Did you see the walruses? I did think it was great value. They only charged me they only charged me$8. And I was like that's great value. Because the other websites it was$50. And then I got up in the morning and I put my shoes on and I was ready to go to Alcatraz and then I looked at my emails and I was like oh this doesn't make any sense and then I tried to rebook myself in and the slots were slots were full yeah well I have been to Alcatraz I was trying to come up with I was trying to have interesting stuff to tell you about I went because I lived in San Francisco
13:34Vogue Williams:now I only lived there for about six weeks remember I worked in the Nodpil Cafe I told you what was your crime? it's real depressing but I heard that they were thinking of opening up again tax evasion excuse me if anyone's into tax evasion it'd be you writing everything off. Don't you dare! Hi, girlos. I adore you both and I've listened for years to the chat about shite men's behaviour and blissful ignorance. More feel me because today's the day I have a reason to write in. This little tale covers the dangers of men in chat GBT, especially when combined. So strap in. For context, I'm 30 and have been with my husband for 10 years, married for five.
14:14Vogue Williams:I'm an anxious girlie and have abandonment issues for a whole host of reasons that could be another email. I feel like we all have a touch of that. Over the years, I've had concerns about my husband's behaviour, especially his relationship with colleagues, but I've always thought it's just my anxiety. Ooh, a 10-year marriage. He has a high-pressure job in a female-dominated industry and he very quickly gets close to people. Throughout the years, he's reassured me that nothing's going on. Meanwhile, he's preached about how much he hates cheating. In the last month or so, I made a comment about him always being glued to his phone.
14:48Vogue Williams:It goes everywhere with them, which made me feel uncomfortable. I also noticed he'd added face ID to his WhatsApp. Ooh, gobshite. Sus. One evening he made a show of saying he was leaving his phone in the room with me while he went to the toilet. Now, ladies, I didn't want to look. I wanted to be better than that, but I'm not. I'm a suspicious snoop, so it only took about 30 seconds for me to cave and get stuck in. I didn't go to WhatsApp, Instagrams. oh my god sorry hang on I didn't go to WhatsApp Instagram text or any of the usual places I went to chat GBT that's interesting I still don't know why I can't make sense of why other than the universe and feminine intuition led the way his most recently chats started please delete this once we're finished discussing my blood ran cold I read about how in 2022 a year after we married he started getting close to a woman in work.
15:48Vogue Williams:They would talk about a future together and he'd have sexual fantasies about her. They had a conversation about how if they were single they'd be together. He wrote about how she made him feel and the connection they had. She came to her house. He found any excuse for long drives and lunches with her. Apparently she had sex with her partner every morning and he'd think about that a lot. She eventually left work after a year and they didn't stay in contact. He then saw her recently and the sexual fantasies and imagining a life together had started back up again. He doesn't mention me or our marriage once in this chat, only that they both had partners, but since they wouldn't be together if they didn't, they would be together if they didn't.
16:26Vogue Williams:As you both discussed your chats about AI, ChatGPT completely validated this behaviour as being A-OK, basically said it's totally normal and understandable and to just crack on and not feel bad about himself as he's not cheating. when he came downstairs I immediately confronted him I'd read out what he'd written including fantasizing about life and sex with this woman he denied it all and said he couldn't control his dreams and much later admitted that these dreams happen when he's awake and that talking about a life together was a joke like when he joked with a male colleague about going to America oh my god now I'm finding out that my husband is a compulsive liar and doesn't recognize an emotional affair as cheating as I had opportunities to have sex but he said he felt proud of himself.
17:13Vogue Williams:He does recognise it. Look at this. He felt proud of himself for not having sex with her. I'm left with more questions than answers. Are emotional affairs as bad as physical ones? Proud of yourself. My thoughts are yes. You're not Obama. Yeah, fuck off. Is going straight back to imagining your life and sex with someone normal after three years of no contact? My thoughts are no. And why did I marry someone so stupid that they think writing to AI? Please delete this when we're done. We'll erase the chat. and doesn't have the sense to check after. So here's a public service. If you're using ChatGPT to validate your bad behavior, make sure you have the due diligence to delete the chat after.
17:51Vogue Williams:And if you're on the Snoop, don't forget AI is the noob. Oh, that's interesting. If you have any tips for overcoming heartbreak, becoming a 30-year-old divorcee, and starting over, or embracing my villain era, please let me know. All the best girls stay safe out there. Oh, no. first of all
18:10Joanne McNally:like I don't know I I wouldn't survive that you will survive it I'd leave no she's left oh yeah brilliant yeah I don't mean survive in life I mean I wouldn't the relationship I would be gone it's just so insulting it's just so insulting it's the same thing as cheating you're hooked on the fantasy of something that hasn't happened yeah you're hooked on the it's actually worse just ride her sorry I'm not sure
18:35Vogue Williams:I don't think she has left she said divorce A no she said divorce A if you have any tips for becoming a 30 year old divorcee it's very long to get divorced by the way, don't just say you're divorced it takes a while and if anyone can give you a tip on being a 30 year old divorce A it is this 30 year old divorce A well I'm not 30 anymore, but I was a 30 year old divorce A and I'll tell you something I was so embarrassed when the whole thing had happened and I just was like this is the worst and then I was like I decided I made myself come to terms with the fact that I was never going to have kids and that I was never going to be married again and I was just going to have to live a life of being single and I was like I'm going to enjoy being single for once in my life and I did enjoy being single and it took about three months because I was so used to being in relationships and then I enjoyed being single and then I met somebody and now I'm sitting on this podcast breastfeeding my fourth child.
19:40Vogue Williams:So this could be you at 40.
19:44Joanne McNally:The emotional affair thing, like it's a real point of difference, I think, between men and women because men are like congratulating themselves for not crossing a line. But actually for women, I remember there was some study done before and they were saying men are more hurt when women have sex with other men. Women are more hurt when men hold hands with other women. So there's like an emotional betrayal for us that feels worse than the actual physical side of it. So that's why emotional affairs are actually, for me, I can only speak for myself because I've been on the receiving end of both emotional affairs and physical affairs.
20:17Joanne McNally:And the emotional thing pissed me off more because I was like, just ride her and then realise there's nothing in it. Or like you're building, you're having like, it's more insulting because it's like the fantasy of the unknown. it's like a guarantee if you if you hooked up with her and he's moved in together you'd be doing the same thing to her that you're doing to me because you're obsessed with what's new what's fresh the chase pathetic I would say exactly sorry it's the chase it's just the chase just the chase
20:44Vogue Williams:I think I'd be equally hurt by both but I think that like the additional thing about the emotional affair for me would be like you think I'm stupid as well like you think that I'm so stupid that I'm going to fall for this bullshit of you saying that there's nothing wrong with it Fair play to you for leaving him. It's not easy, but you're going to be grand. You'll be grand. Which we're not sure that you have, if you have.
21:06Joanne McNally:Yeah, we don't know if you have, but I mean, how do you come back from that? I just wouldn't trust. I'm just like, nah, you're more than that. Fuck that. Out. Yeah, good luck. And I guarantee if he did, like, make a go of it with this woman, it would run out of steam in a month. Guaranteed. Agreed. It's all about, it's just the fantasy of it all. Yeah. Getting into the nitty gritty of it. Suddenly you're taking the bins out together. You're paying a mortgage together. All that shit then. The fantasy of it all comes away. And it's just a reality of two people trying to live a life together. And they'd be done in a month.
21:45Joanne McNally:Guaranteed. Okay. Lovely. Thanks everybody. Bye. I'm on the way back to London.
21:53Vogue Williams:Yay! I want you back. I decided today. I was like, oh no, I miss her. When's she back?
21:59Joanne McNally:Oh, you never say anything nice. I know.
22:03Vogue Williams:Well, I don't like getting all like deep and stuff unless I've had a drink, but I do.
22:07Joanne McNally:I really miss you. I can't wait for you to come back. No, Sandra has made you very absent emotionally. But I know that and I'm aware of it. No hugs at home. No, I think she begrudgingly told you she loved you when you turned 40. That's what I heard.
22:25Vogue Williams:She does this. Love you.
22:27Joanne McNally:Love you. Yeah. but in the same tone as go fuck yourself. That's an Irish mother.
22:38Vogue Williams:This has been a global production.
