2:32Who? We will be revisiting the classic film The Replacements that is going to drop this Friday. So tune into that if you are as big of a fan of that film as we are or just like Keanu Reeves. The biggest piece of new news, New Heights might have an official treat. I'm sorry, what? We are now being tagged in video anytime a 92 %er sees a Japanese maple tree. Are we being tagged or is Jason being tagged? Jason is being tagged. Ooh, Lego. Is that a Lego? A Lego Japanese maple. I didn't know those existed. They make Lego trees? Do they make Lego redwoods?
3:15I think they only make Japanese maples. Hey, listen. You're always trying to rope me into your, this is you. I'm fine. Ornamental. Everybody loves a good Japanese maple. I'm going to give Wyatt this Lego set. Other than maybe like an ecologist. All right. What's this link? We got a voicemail from somebody. Can we open this up, Brandon? Let's see what they're talking about. What do we got? Hi. I'm calling on behalf of the larger community of 92 percenters who are wondering whether or not, Big Japanese Maple has reached out to Jason about becoming the face of the industry. Big Japanese. Seems like a no-brainer to me.
3:57Curious to know if he's getting, you know, fielding any offers from them. All right. Love you guys. Bye. Fielding any offers. I have not, I don't know that there is a Big Japanese Maple. I don't think, I mean, maybe there is. I'm not aware of the people really pushing Japanese maple. I feel like that tree is not as pushed upon as some other ones these days. I don't know. It makes Japanese maples so unique, though. That's why Kylie loves them. What? That they're not like a part of the big industry of agriculture. Yeah. It's horticulture, right? Or is it forestry? Arbery. Arbery. I don't know what fucking industry you're talking about.
4:45But no, nobody's reached out. Kylie always loves a good Japanese maple, which is all I need.
4:54It's so good. Please continue to tag us in any and all trees that remind you of Jason. Yep. All right. That wraps up a little new news. Let's get into some bold topics to wrap up this week six in the NFL. Well, Bull Topics is brought to you by Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers. Who doesn't love fucking chicken fingers and that Raising Cane's sauce? I don't even know what it's called, but you know what I'm talking about. All right, Chiefs 30, Lions 17, Sunday Night Football. I got rid of those football. Listen, this was a game that I think the entire country was looking forward to watching. Lions obviously started off the season a little sluggish against the Packers, but they had been really kicking ass and taking names the last few weeks.
5:38facing off against the Chiefs, who had really started to find the rhythm, even though they lost the previous week. That offense was turning it around. Give us your thoughts, Travis. Initial thoughts on the game. Four quarters of great football, man, all three phases. It looked like in the second half they were shutting down the run and getting to the quarterback, and we haven't had, you know, or at least a lot of people have been saying we haven't been able to get to the quarterback. My guy, Charles Amene, who gets in there, Chris Jones is getting after him. Yeah. And it's just the DBs are all, you know, lockdown coverage where they need to be.
6:12And, you know, when the defense is playing like that and Pat Mahomes is out here, Texas gunslinger, just just shooting it all over the field, man. It's the best, man. That's the best. And we were we were rocking and rolling, had a few big plays on special teams that they got us going. And that's a that's a tough Lions team. And I felt like we got we got after him in the run game and in the pass game. and guys were downfield blocking for each other, man. The energy right now in the building is electric, man. And it's one of the most fun teams I've ever been on. Yeah, that was – you know, watching it, you talk about all three phases competing and doing great for all four quarters.
6:52The defense was – Detroit came out running that thing. They were doing a great job. They put together a great first drive. But you're right, the defense adjusted. They kept fighting. They freaking – nothing really came easy. And I think a lot of times the Lions get these big, huge, explosive plays, and the defense tried to make them earn it the entire time. And they had a couple big fourth down stops. The second half, it felt like they neutralized the running game a little bit better than they did in the first half. Nick Bolton mentioned potentially having some tips. Like it felt like they kind of had a little – I don't know if we should mention that.
7:27Should we not mention that? It sounds like they were – yeah, it sounds like they – They had a good idea what was happening. Yeah, that sounds like the – and that's the thing. When you're with Spags and you've got smart players, man, you're going to see these – whatever they are, these little ticks or these certain things that an offense is doing where, you know, if they want to keep doing them, we're going to be able to get ahead of them. Let's talk about the Chiefs offense because that was the thing that I think everybody had wanted to talk about through the first, what, three weeks of the season.
7:58And as of the last three weeks, the Chiefs offense looks back, baby. You guys are doing everything well. And the one thing that I think stood out about this game in particular was the ability to run the football. It wasn't like a Rico Dowdle, like unbelievable running day for the Chiefs, but it was a consistent, efficient threat that you guys imposed your will. I mean, this is a team we talk about. I mean, kneecap biting, like bully, tough-nosed team. They were hitting. And you guys took it right at it with them, man. It was a – that first half, I mean, you guys are both running the ball really efficiently, imposing your will on each other.
8:41It was a physical game. Like I think the first half went by like in a flash. Yeah. Like before I know it, the first quarter was over. Like it was nuts. Yeah. That's got to feel good, right? Yeah. You get rolling in, especially in the run game, man. It's like it just feeds those big guys up front. It just feeds them. It gets them going, it gets them playing a little bit tough. You know what I mean? You start working some double teams, and they don't feel like they're just sitting on an island past Proen. And, you know, you can get these big 300-pounders on the attack and downhill and moving forward and getting after guys, trying to demoralize them mentally and physically.
9:19And it's just like we got our interior three playing so physical and so well together right now with Kingsley. Yeah, Kingsley's coming on, man. Yeah, exactly. And Trey Smith. And then on top of that, Juwan Taylor's playing fucking outstanding. We had a huge. Jalen Moore steps up. Jalen Moore steps up and has a fucking awesome game. That's a big task, baby. And he answered the bell, man. Hell yeah. And I just feel like when those guys up front are rolling like that, man, it just makes everybody play that much more confident. You know, Pat's not thinking as much about the line. You know, he's seeing the field so clear right now and getting the ball out quick.
9:59You stay out of situations that are hard to pick. Like third and long is hard in the league. You know what I mean? Like it was interesting because the previous two weeks, and really three weeks, you guys had started to really hit the big play down the field. And that's one way to stress a defense. In this game, I mean, that really didn't happen. You took a couple shots, but really the way you stressed them was by running right at them. Yeah. Right? And then that got the play action going. That got you in good situations where you could do the quick passes. You got a bunch of them where it was like even before the snap, like Pat knew he was going to catch and deliver it right to you.
10:32Fire it out there. Yeah. And I just. Yeah. And I think I think that's a huge, you know, you got to throw it to Coach Reed and Matt Nagy on the offensive side that are that are calling these plays and put these plays in to give us an opportunity. Just go out there and just play quick. Yeah. Play fast. Play field. Make them feel the the attention to detail and the alertness that we're playing with. And I think we're rolling like that, and Pat's getting it to everybody right now. You know, everybody's getting a chance to have the football in their hands, and everybody's satisfied, and it's going to have to even be more of that now that we're getting Rasheed coming back next week.
11:10But it's just so much fun when everybody's getting a piece of the pie, man. Yeah, man, vibes look like they're pretty darn good for the Chiefs, a hell of a lot better than they were maybe three weeks ago or four weeks ago. We got some stats, I guess, here. The Chiefs are one of just two teams to feature four players with 220-plus receiving yards this year. Travis Kelsey, Hollywood Brown, Tyquan Thornton, and Juju Smith-Schuster all over 220 yards. That's a very specific yardage. Travis, can you explain the edge? It is. Can you explain the edge motto? Everybody got to eat, baby. E-G-E. Everybody got to eat.
11:45Okay. I think Rasheed might have started that one. Nice. And it might have been a little sneak preview on what's going to come. Well, I mean, listen, Pat does it better than everybody. So I'm watching this Atlanta game on Monday night, and it's pretty much Drake London and Bijan Robinson. Like, listen, if you've got those two guys, I'd probably just give them the ball too. Like, I don't know what we're doing anything else for. But you look at a Chiefs stat line, and every week it feels like seven, eight, nine guys are in the reception category. And it's like, man, Pat is spreading that ball around.
12:14Not a lot of tendencies. It's not just check downs. You know what I mean? Guys are getting first downs. guys yeah noah gray had a had a huge first down juju smith schuster's i think had our longest play on a naked hollywood browns running out of touchdown celebrations i mean my guys i'm jumping in the stands you already know i only played it for one oh man it's so good man well let's get the primetime traf we talked about bun or lebron stats traf passed uh a legend Jason Witten in primetime receiving yards. Did you notice you are now second? You are second all-time in primetime receiving yards.
12:55Again, another very specific category. How does it feel to be the second all-time receiving yards for a tight end leader in that category? It means a lot because I feel like I would love to see how many games Jason Witten played on primetime. He needs to play for the Cowboys. the boys are always on prime time. They're getting prime time. Since the beginning of his career. Listen, you've had a lot of prime time games too. You're the fucking Kansas City Chiefs. You played on every day of the week other than Tuesday. That's the only day you haven't played on, right? You're trying to say we're America's team, Jason?
13:30I'm saying you've had some prime time games. So don't act like you guys aren't getting opportunities. You've had some opportunities. Who am I second behind? You've got to be Tony, right? That's the only person that makes sense. But he didn't have a lot of prime time, did he? What are you trying to say? He was on the Chiefs when they weren't very good. The Chiefs, when Tony was there, not the same as Chiefs of recent. I don't know. Them boys was cold in 03. Who are we second behind? Do we got that, Brandon? I want to know who we are. Take a guess. Take a guess. Take a guess. Receiving stats. Who do you think it is?
13:59Oh, it's only receiving. It's not tight end. It's just second. It's not a tight end. Receiving stats. Who do you think it is? Oh, Jerry Rice. There you go. Bang. Sorry. I thought it was just tight ends. That's an easy answer. Thank you, Brandon. I want to know how far behind him. Miles, 49ers. they were in some prime time games you're miles behind you damn it not miles well let's get into the game trav you had a bunch of catches one of the better games you've had this year or actually probably the best game you've had this year six receptions for 78 yards i love a lot of these photos man take a look at this photo where you're being held up by like five different detroit lions four guys just look at your did you look at your face in this there's a age to this face right there in the middle that is just no dude you know what this is you know what this is this is the first catch of the game and you know how you you're you're trying to finish i kind of i get hit by one guy i kind of slide off of him and now i'm just like i'm getting pinballed but i'm keeping the feet moving and then i get held security then i get held up yeah exactly security in a situation like that and then once i get held up the stampede is coming i think i'd locked eyes with Trey Smith about to come and clean the pile.
15:13And I was just like, brace yourself. I'm like, hit me, motherfucker. I love it. No, man, the big boys were finishing downfield, man, and I was just bracing for it. Andy Reid was asked about your performance. He said, we've been giving Travis Kelsey a lot of, what is this, Geritol? Is that like an aging thing? I don't know, man. Coach Reid's the best. He pulled one out from the... This is probably... What is Geritol? Yeah. It's got to be something with old people. I don't know. But it's like from like the 70s or something. What about this? How is your head feeling? You fucking did a headstand in the middle of the game.
15:49He caught me with a charlie horse on my thigh. Caught you in the jump. I got a charlie horse more than I got anything going on with my neck. Listen, landing on your head was interesting. What the fuck were you doing reaching for the pylon afterwards? Did you think you were not down? I was feeling stupid that I didn't get in the end zone. So I'm just like, motherfucker, man. Damn it. You had been down for like four seconds. Boom.
16:20God damn it, Travis. You're on the fucking one-yard line. Get in the goddamn end zone. Stop jumping, man. One of my favorite things of the game was that. I just love the reach of the end. It looks even worse. They did it in a slow motion on the broadcast. It made it look even worse.
16:38You're right there. Just God damn it. Get in the fucking zone, Travis. Holy shit. That was funny. That was too funny, man. Kingsley Sumata took you out after the Hollywood Browns touchdown. Yeah, that was fun. Kings is the man, dude. Everybody was just out there finishing downfield, man. Listen, when you're in the end zone, it doesn't matter what's going on, man. I love the way you fall on this, too. yeah i'm just like fucking let's go you get a little you get a little extra shove on kirby right there can we talk about the hurry up after the catch is this smart football i think it is and i noticed it on the broadcast well it's it's definitely smart football and i kind of looked at pat and i was like so this is what i wanted to talk about because i saw you give like a very subtle just like like something with your finger whereas a lot of teams because when i do like this big old like this huge gesture and that signals right away in the opposing coach like hey they're trying to get this snapped off because he doesn't think he caught it a lot of times you'll see a challenge and get that instance do you guys talk about this do you try to make it subtle or is that something that you just did instinctually i i when i caught the ball i felt the ball hit the ground and i'm not that doesn't mean i didn't have possession of it correct i'm saying Like it's in my hand, ball hits the ground.
17:58You know it's like, okay, this is questionable. I don't know if they're going to try and like at least give this a chance. And now it's out of our hands and it's in the booth. No question. You know what I mean? So I'm like, in my mind, I'm like, it might be smart if we just did a quick, you know what I mean? It's the first down. Might be smart if we just get up here and go. And I think everybody kind of felt the exact same way. I'm not going to say it was like we did it because I was like, hey, yo, let's do it. But I was even thinking what the coaches were thinking on that. Usually the coaching point is if there's any doubt, right?
18:31Like if you have to wonder, like, did I catch that or not? You tell the guy in the booth. Don't even put it in the booth. Yeah, just hurry up, get on the ball, especially if it's a first down big play like that one was. It did make me realize, like, how much the rules of a catch have changed over, like, the last 10 to 15 years. Because I think by the old standards of a catch, this was absolutely not a catch. because it used to not be able to touch the ground. Like the moment it touched the ground, they would call it like, hey, that's trapping, not a catch. But now you really don't lose possession.
19:03Like your right hand slips off of it, but your left hand maintains full contact and the ball doesn't really roll. It was in my grips the entire time. So like in my heart of hearts, do I think you maintain possession the entire way? I don't think so. But based on how we rule a catch these days, I don't think this would have been overturned if it was reviewed anyways. And the official in the booth said the exact same thing. Yeah. I think, by the way, we were determined to catch today's standards. I think that would have been upheld anyways. But smart decision by you regardless. We also got you with the dream shake, as you're calling this.
19:40This was your first catch of the game. It wasn't the other one, right? No, this is the first. This is the first one. Yeah, this one was nice. yeah it's it's it's i'm talking shit on the sideline to to the young guys and i know know nothing about 90s basketball because they weren't born until 2002 right um and i uh i threw it out there this it wasn't as hakeem olajuwon dream shake in the post somebody you look but it was definitely it was definitely the guy behind me and give him a little shimmy for sure i thought it It looked exactly like it. It was like I was watching Elijah want to play football for a second.
20:21Shut the fuck up. Look at that. Shout out to KG. Kevin Garnett also had a little bit of a shake in his post-up game. See, that was just me in high school, man. Give me the ball in the post. That's what I was saying. They don't want to see me in the post with my back turned. I was talking to somebody on Monday night. I can't remember who it was, but they asked me, how does your brother feel that? And I'm like, I think he just takes a picture before he turns around, like where those guys are at in his head. And he knows timing wise that they're going to be on him when he catches the ball. And he just takes that little jab step.
20:54Like, what is your thought process? Like what causes you? Cause you're not, you obviously can't see them. What causes you to be able to do that? Jason, I got eyes on the back of my head. No, you're not cam Scatter. You don't have, you know, you can't see that well fields. What? I know exactly. I look up at the jumbotron right before I catch it. I don't buy it. I'm not buying that. Could you imagine? There are guys that claim that, but I don't buy that. I looked up at the jumbotron one time when I was running in the open field just to get caught. Yeah, I can see that. I can see that. No, you take a mental, like you said, you kind of just feel the game.
21:27I realized that, you know, who are the two closest guys to me, you know? Yeah. One was directly in front of me coming down to play me into the flat, and then there was one guy coming from the inside, inside out, and how am I going to get this ball? how am I going to get more yards? How can I make these guys miss or how can I make one guy over pursuit? You play around with that in practice. Sometimes you get fucking smoked and it doesn't work and you got a five-yard gain. Sometimes you make a guy miss, guys run into each other, and you're getting 10 yards. And it's just playing and feeling the game.
22:09Yeah. Well, it worked in this game. It was a dirty little move right there. Laverie Hakeem Olajuonescu. We got some records with 1 ,032 catches. Travis now has the 12th most receptions in NFL history. We're on the LeBron stats right now. Yeah, what are we doing? Can we name the other top 11 most catches in NFL history? Most catches in NFL history. Let's go tight ends first. So we got Jason Witten and Tony. Is Antonio Gates still above you in receptions or is he not? I would assume he is, yes. So let's say those three, those are the three tight ends above you, right? Yeah. Then we got receivers.
22:48We got Jerry Rice, Randy Moss. I'm thinking Randy, right? It's got to be guys that played forever in the modern era. So Jerry. Larry Fitzgerald. Julio Jones, Larry Fitz. Yeah. Not Julio. It's got to be somebody that played with Peyton. Marvin or, oh my gosh. Reggie. Reggie Wayne. Or both of them. I feel like Marvin was there longer. Reggie had like that was pretty ridiculous, but Marvin was there I feel like a long time. I don't think it's either one. Terrell Owens? T.O.'s got to be up there, right? He's got to be. I'm giving you nothing. You're on this list by yourself at this point. Antonio Brown?
23:33Tim Brown? No, Antonio didn't play long enough, I don't think. I feel like Tim Brown played for a long time, right? Yeah. Megatron didn't play in a long time, but he might be up there. Now I just want to know. Who are we missing, Brandon? Jerry Rice, Larry Fitz, Tony, Merivin Harris. Yeah, Chris Carter is one that we definitely should have got. Tim Brown we got. Terrell Owens. Anquan Bolden. Damn. We said Andre Johnson, right? You said him? I think you did. No. No? No. Fuck. That's one that we definitely should have got. We definitely should have got Andre Johnson. Let's go, man. I got Keenan Allen right there, too, man.
24:09Let's fucking go. Keenan Allen coming up. Man, Julio Jones isn't nowhere near that. I thought he would be up there. I didn't think so, yeah. He played for a long time. He did. He did. Does the plus mean they're a Hall of Famer? What the fuck does this plus mean? Yeah. Yep. All right. The answer is that. Wood stats from Chase Snyder on Twitter. Travis Kelsey before the release of Wood. Four games, 15 catches. 188 yards and a touchdown. Travis Kelsey after release of Wood. Two games, 139 yards and one touchdown. that's hilarious i don't know why that's significant but it's funny is this a lebron stat patrick holmes fastest to 300 combined touchdowns yes whenever you have to put a parameter on like the fastest 2x or like that means you just made up an arbitrary number just to make him have a stat like it's i don't know what the that's the definition of a lebron that like when you have to make up a statistic that no nobody would ever say the fastest the 300 combined tds the only reason this is being made is that for somebody to have a talking point about the greatness of patrick mahomes we don't need this staff but congrats pat um let's go anything else from the game that you want to talk about uh i can't think of anything else especially no i mean nothing happened after the game of note right no i can't think of anything I will, I'll say this and you can tell me if you want to take it out or not.
25:40I think that the game is a heated game. Emotions get flared up. It's a physical game. You never want it to get to that level, especially when the game's already over. But like, you know, at the end of the day, the NFL take care of the fines and suspensions and all that stuff. Like it is a game of emotion. It's a game of physicality. It's a game of passion. And I don't want to I don't really overthink this. I think Dan Campbell handled it well in his press conference. You know, I think everybody has handled it well. I don't think less of anybody. I damn sure don't. And, you know, sometimes these things happen in this sport because of how physical and aggressive it is.
26:20It doesn't make it. Yeah. You know what I mean? So I don't want to overdo any type of statement. I don't even know if we should put that out there. But regardless, next week, the Chiefs have a in-division opponent. We got a little Chiefs Raiders action. Raiders week, baby. Let's go. Fire me up, man. God gone. And it's returned for some of you guys have been long awaiting and anticipating as players and as fans. Rasheed Rice will be back in the lineup officially. I'm just happy to get my guy back out there, man. 27:25And I'm excited for him to get back to what he loves to do the most, and that's play football. Listen, everybody makes mistakes. This was a big one. And he served his punishment for it. Yeah, exactly. And you got to just move on. That's the only way you can approach it. You know what I mean? And we're about to get the most ferocious version of Rasheed Rice, man. I cannot fucking wait. This guy has been sitting in meetings, listening to plays being dialed up. And I just know he's ready to get in on the action with this man. And he's one of the best, like, energy guys on the field. He plays with passion.
28:00He plays with physicality. You can have him, you know, block in the run game. You can have him when he gets the ball in his hands, he's finishing. He's running through arm tackles. And it's just he's such a vital piece to have outside of just being a great receiver, man. And I can't wait to get back out there and rocking with him, man. And it's interesting. He's coming back. You know, I think when I was thinking about him coming back like three weeks ago, I was like, how much, you know, he can't just be back. And I don't think it can just be the Rasheed Rice show. Like, as good as he is, I don't think it can be that.
28:29That's not just going to be the fix. But now with the way you guys are rolling and some of the players that have emerged between Taequann Thornton, you're getting the run game going. You know, Juju Smith-Schuster adds a lot to the game. I really do think, like in the run game and all these little things, man. He is an underrated piece. He really is, man. I love it, Doug. I know there's that picture of my guy going around. But it's – listen, he's an agitator for sure, and he gets after people in a lot of different phases. Rasheed coming in there, he's coming in at the right time, man. It feels like a lot of things are clicking.
29:02Worthy's back. You got the razzle-dazzle plays back in the lineup, and now you're going to have this premier guy brought back into the building. Oh, yeah. It just feels like everything is clicking right now with the Chiefs. I can't wait to watch next week and see what it looks like. So good luck to you, brother. Thank you to our partner, WhatsApp. Let me tell you something. Yeah? These group chats, they can be a little bit overwhelming, can't they? Man, sometimes you get a message at like 6 a.m. And it's like, hey, important update about the team meeting. But you never get it because it's buried under a bunch of other texts.
29:36Or a player's meeting, an update. But yeah. And then someone is like, oh, which meeting? Well, another guy is sending GIFs. and suddenly you've got 47 unread messages. OMG. Yeah, that's why people are loving pinned messages on WhatsApp. That's right. You can pin a message. The most important message then gets pinned to the feed, and that's the one you get to read because that's the important one. Love it. Okay. You can pin the important message right at the top where everyone can see it. That sounds really cool. No more scrolling through a sea of memes and okay messages to find the crucial info.
30:13just pin it and boom meeting details are front and center yeah and it's depending on which like group chat you're in like some of those memes could be really good but when you're just trying to get like the information and the good stuff man this is uh it comes pretty uh pretty in handy and uh what's the most chaotic group chat you're in right now jason probably the one with me you craig and that's the most chaotic man you gotta i'm not a big group chat guy i got a few i got so many. You're better at keeping in touch with people. I'm notorious. It's crazy. Now that I'm using WhatsApp, I'll be better moving forward.
30:45There you go. WhatsApp is the real MVP of group chat, so stop drowning in message overload, organize your teams into different group chats, and pin those crucial updates right at the top. With up to three pinned messages per chat, everyone can stay up to speed. Alrighty. It's time for WhatsApp. Download WhatsApp now and get to pinning. Big thanks to our partner Reese's and everyone's favorite Halloween candy. That's right. Reese's Pumpkins is so much better than regular Reese's. I don't know why. Sorry, Reese's. I said your name wrong. The pumpkins, though, I'm a big fan of the holiday additions.
31:18There's more peanut butter to the ratio, and I like that. The perfect amount of peanut butter makes the Halloween perfect candy pumpkin. And I'm going to let everyone in on this little secret. What's that? You don't even need to be in a costume. You don't even need to dress up to eat Reese's Pumpkins either. Are you just going to go buy them from the store? You know it. I mean, I respect it. But if you do, pro tip, pockets to hold the Reese's. Nice. And keep your mouth uncovered for easy Reese's delivery. Nice. Yeah. I mean, you got to have costumes with pockets for candy specifically. It's the candy season.
31:55If you don't have a costume with a pocket in it or pants with a pocket in it. Yeah, what are we talking about? What are we talking about pockets? You got buckets. This is Halloween. We're not putting candy in pockets. We got buckets. We got knapsacks. We got pillowcases. Fanny packs. Nice. They really are Halloween's perfect candy treat, man. Enjoy Reese's Pumpkins now. Found wherever you can find candy. Thank you to our partner, Raisin Cane's. How about it? You know what's amazing about Raisin Cane's? What's that, Travis? Not just their incredible food, but the guy who started it all. My guy, Todd Graves.
32:30You actually know Todd Graves? Yeah, I know Todd real well. Over the years, he's become such a great supporter of everything we do. My Foundation 87 and Running Pats Foundation, 15 of the Mahomies. Yeah, didn't they just step up and do a bunch of stuff with Kelsey Car Jam? Oh, yeah, they really did. And the Canes food truck was there serving up those perfect chicken fingers with that sauce. And I can't forget that Texas toast. I love that. Come on now. Texas toast. And Todd and Raising Canes donated$125 ,000 to 87 and Running My Foundation. And it's going to help out a lot here in the Kansas City community and up there in Cleveland Heights, baby.
33:04And he also was working with tight end you as well, right? Come on now. It's all of it, baby. He's in on everything we're doing. He's a philanthropic guy. He really is, man. And he's doing an amazing job with Raising Cane's and all the communities that they're in. And Ty came out a few times, actually, to speak to the tight ends, sharing the entrepreneurial journey. He's awesome on sharing his story. And he's got a hell of a story out of Louisiana. And just a genuine guy who built something special, man. Yeah, man. Sounds like this guy likes two things, giving his money away and frying up chickens.
33:35All right now. Speaking of special, how about those chicken fingers? They're always perfectly crispy on the outside and sweet and juicy on the inside. I love them. You have to get extra cane sauce, man. That cane sauce is one of the kind, as you know. That's non-negotiable. Well, the whole meal is perfect. Those crinkle cut fries, the Texas toast, I usually swap out. for some coleslaw sometimes if I'm feeling a little bit frisky. That's a classic move right there. That man's done this before. Add an ice cold sweet tea or lemonade and you're in business. Don't wait another day to try the best chicken fingers in the game.
34:15Raising Cane's is waiting for you. Let's get to the rest of week six. Let's do it, big dog. Some of the other big stories around the league, starting with the Eagles, baby. It's a tough one, man. Do we have to? I'm sorry. I'm just upset that now we have to talk about that Eagles game. listen jason we don't all right we're skipping it no eagles talk yeah they're in fucking time out no get your shit together we'll talk about you on the show god damn it all right here we go you got scatabood we got darted you got darted it is hilarious all right some of the uh other big stories from around the league starting with the eagles man the eagles had a tough one tough in in division game uh giants 34 eagles 17 jason what's uh what's going on with the birds man You know, I think it was a short week.
35:00They obviously came off a tough loss to Denver. And a lot of the narrative had been, you know, the offense needs to get it going and get it fixed. They've been prone to a lot of the three and outs. I think the league-leading percentage of three and outs and the offense is just at some times it's really clicking. And for halves, we're putting together great halves. And then other halves, it just feels like it's either all or nothing, it feels like, you know what I mean? And it's a frustrating thing to watch. You know, you need that consistency. And they know it. And they're out there trying to fix it.
35:33But, yeah, the short week, you know, I'm not going to lie. Going up against New York, you know, they're missing neighbors. Went down a couple weeks ago with an ACL injury. Slayton's out for the game. They're missing their two best, you know, options from a quarterback standpoint. point and I thought the Eagles defense and they would put up a much better performance and I could not be more wrong I didn't think that they were gonna do the Giants were gonna do much offensively I did not think Dart was gonna be able to throw the ball the way he did and I thought being one-dimensional against the Eagles is gonna be hard and they weren't one-dimensional Dart threw the ball very well now the Eagles were missing Jalen Carter yeah you You know, Quinion went down early, and, you know, it's just the coverage wasn't great.
36:23They were good at stopping the run in the first half, but eventually everything just snowballed. And it was a tough game to watch as an Eagles fan and a guy that is, you know, such a big proponent for that team and those players in there. And, you know, they didn't play well. That's the reality of it. They got – not only did they not play well, but one of the things that was frustrating was just like, you know, the energy difference, if I'm being honest. The Giants. It's crazy how much that energy means everything. How are we showing up to the ballpark today, man? Stout says this a lot. Execution fuels emotion.
36:59And I know this as a player, and you know this, like, when it's not going well, it's hard to have that. Find it, man. You got to find it. Exactly. And that's what I think right now with that game, and part of it's the way it unfolded, right? Like the Giants were playing better. the Eagles were not playing well in a lot of phases and they were getting frustrated as the game went. So of course the energy is going to be different, but I just, you know, you know, Jackson Dart and Camp Scadaboo, these guys right now are playing with this, like this young, youthful enthusiasm that's excited to be realizing their dream in the NFL.
37:33They're out there and you can feel the energy and emotion and passion with them. And it's rubbing off on the whole team. I I mean, Jackson Dark goes into the blue tent, and people are going in there to try and get him out. They're like, fuck no, you're not concussed. You can't quit on us. And it's just like, man, it was amazing, honestly, watching that. How many more tests do you got to keep running? Can he count to 10? Yes. Is he seeing double or is he RAA? Is he following the finger? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Does he know we're in New Jersey? How's his balance on his right leg? We don't need the left.
38:08We only need the right. So, I mean, I think – and a lot of it comes down to the expectations, right? Like the Giants, I think they're 1-4 coming into this game. Yeah. They're starting like a rookie. They're playing two rookies at two meaningful positions. Like the expectations for the Giants are not great. As long as they're performing well, it's like, hey, these guys are balling out. The expectations for the Eagles are – I mean, it's Super Bowl or nothing. Like if we don't go back there, it's a letdown as far as like the fan base and people are concerned. I think that's the reality of it. And right now they're falling short.
38:44And that is a frustrating thing as a player. You want it to go well. It's still early, but I hear you. Right now where the team is. Well, right now they're not playing up to what they need to. And there's a lot of season left. And I got a ton of confidence that these guys are going to come now, especially after having a loss like that with a rejuvenated energy. I think that, you know, I think the Eagles have got to get back to playing with that energy, to getting things going. And I know they've been hard at work. They've had the mini-buy now to refocus a lot of this. You're hearing the coaches feel like they are – I feel like the offense, a lot has been made about Kevin Petulo.
39:20I know that Eagles fans are going to like it. I feel like it is getting better. I feel like you're seeing some either more creative things. I think you're seeing them get to Saquon in a better way, even though it's still not being executed perfectly. And I anticipate that to continue to improve as the season keeps going. Defensively, getting Quinlan and Jalen Carter back will be huge. And I got to think Vic Fangio, one of the best coaches in the NFL, is going to get those guys right moving forward. So, yeah, it was a frustrating game to watch. It's a frustrating game to watch as a fan and as a former teammate to a lot of these guys because you know where they've been.
39:59You know what they're going through in these moments. And it's, you know, but at the same time, you know, this is where great players are made, man. It ain't when shit's going right. It isn't when the whole world's telling you how great you are. It's, you know, how do you respond when everything's against you? How do you respond as a teammate when everybody's trying to separate you? That's the biggest thing, man. That's the biggest. You can't let people fucking peel you apart, man. And this is something you know so well. You guys have just been through this earlier in the season, right? You've been through it for a whole offseason.
40:30You guys dealt with a bunch of this through the offseason, with the way the Super Bowl went, through the first couple weeks of the season, and now everybody's back on top of the Chiefs bandwagon, right? This is when great teams, great players, and great leaders are tested, when you're going through stuff like this. And I look forward to seeing how they respond. That's the reality of it. Brandon put a question on here. I'm assuming Brandon did this. Yeah, you never know. Is it easier to play with no expectations? I feel like I've always had the most expectations on myself. That's a great way to put it.
41:06I've always put that Super Bowl or fucking nothing on myself. I've always put that I have to be the best player in the world for my teammate or I need to find a way to get better. In terms of the scrutiny of the expectations from the world, I think when you first get into the league and you're kind of just – what is it? You're living life and you're flying by the seat of your pants, I think is the phrase. Yeah. When you're having fun being in the NFL for the first time, getting wins, being on top of the world, getting recognized for that, I think that is such an easy feel because you don't know what's coming.
41:49Because the NFL is going to catch on to what you're doing, and you're going to have to make adjustments. I think there is a bit of, yeah, it's easy to do it once in a sense. It's not easy to win in the fucking NFL. I'm not saying that. Well, that's the bigger thing. But, yeah, go ahead. In terms of getting those first wins, I think that's the easier task than to continue to stack wins, stack seasons, and meet those expectations than it is to exceed maybe some expectations that you set for yourself when you haven't been in that boat. You touched on two things that I think I really love. One being the best players are internally motivated.
42:34like if you're finding motivation from the exterior fan bases making noise whatever it is you're never going to be one of the best players in the world that's just not the way it works the best players in the world want to be the best players in the world and they can't live without being the best players like that's how they fucking operate mentally that's just the reality of it you're the hardest person on yourself than anybody else can throw it down on top of you but But I also think that is it easier to play with no expectations? I think part of this is a little bit of a fallacy where like it's easy for anybody to put one great season together.
43:10Right. It's not easy to have one great season, but it's easier to do one great season than to continually repeat on that great season, whether it's as a team or as a player. Sustained excellence in the highest level of any profession is incredibly fucking hard. It's incredibly hard to continually find new ways to have success after everybody is trying to beat you in the NFL. And the expectations only come once you've climbed the mountaintop, once you become a great player. So, of course, it's harder once those expectations are out there to repeat because it's harder to have sustained excellence than just have a one-off fluke season or a few games.
43:52Yeah. I don't know that it's a fair question. Yeah, I hear you on that. Like it's easier when there's no expectations because nobody is saying anything. You don't have that on top of yourself. Yes, that's true. But I don't know that it becomes actually harder because of the expectations. I just think, you know, it's harder to keep rolling the dice and fucking hitting sevens every single time. Like eventually you're going to fucking hit a, right? Harder to hit a six. I was about to say. It's harder to roll the dice and continually hit the point, right? Eventually you're going to hit a seven, right?
44:26The sustained excellence aspect of the NFL or any top of your field is extremely hard. And it takes a dedicated work ethic and a great team and great leadership to continually come back to the table and win. And all of you guys out there that just heard Jason give a fucking great speech about don't give up on the craps table. That doesn't mean go out and gamble tonight. No, go gamble. Go have some fun. Just do it responsibly. Yeah, I mean, it's harder from an outside noise thing with the expectations. But I don't know, man. Fuck expectations. I'm just trying to fucking win the day. I'm trying to block outside zone right here and fucking reach this nose guard.
45:12That's my expectation. Yeah. I ain't focused on this other bullshit. Literally. A rough day for Philly last Thursday. Obviously, the Eagles lost to the Giants, but the Phillies got knocked out of the playoffs, man. Extra innings. Cities in history to have their NHL team lose, NFL team lose, and MLB team lose in the playoffs and be eliminated all on the same day. Yeah, only been done twice, and both times it's been done. Oh, no, it's both Philly? Fuck. Philly last Thursday and then Philly also on October 16, 1983. Only two times this happened in history, according to Greg Harvey, which we will take his word as gospel because that's what we do in these days.
46:01what a time to be alive yeah i mean there was something else in here you guys must have deleted it but like was detroit's day of like the lions what was it brandon you had it in there lions lions michigan yeah uh and who else tigers and tigers which tells me you know nothing about detroit because detroit is way more riding with michigan state you fucking dumbass no i'm sorry this is definitely a spartan city that's fine these fucking wine drinkers from ann arbor no fucking detroit is riding with michigan state i'd like to apologize to the city of detroit i'm sorry that's all i'll wear that one that's on me that's my fault sorry guys sorry about your tigers my bad um do we want to keep hitting on this game i mean these this picture is fucking iconic i mean just two fucking lovable idiots i just think it's the best man i fucking love this shit man this is this is fucking god damn it man this shit gives me fucking life man listen man i think these dudes just love some ball man that's what it comes down they just fucking love some football man and they love each other they love the team that they're on they play with high vibes man they're playing their tail off jackson darts doesn't look like the biggest guy but i mean on the field with him he's he's not a small dude but no he's not the style of football that he's playing where he's putting his head down and he's trying to run through grown-ass men in the nfl like this guy just fucking wants to get every single yard for his team you know what i mean and i agree i i think scadabo's doing the exact same thing with every fucking rush that he gets he's he's he's looking for contact on runs and it's like what that does to like your team when you have success man it just it makes you it builds you man it just gives you dude gives you the juice man when this when this whole first thing started happening i was kind of a i don't know if i was being able yeah we'll see where this energy is going like i don't know but i gotta hand it to a man that the can we zoom in on this photo look at this fucking guy you can't deny how the whole team has responded to this energy like they are all playing and like it's infectious and the entire team has been energized look at this fucking the face the face it's so good man this is the type of energy that like football like just guys that love fucking playing ball come on they're excited to do dumb shit like i'm gonna go run through that fucking brick wall who's man enough to do it I don't give a, what front was it?
48:44What, what coverage was it? What did the linebacker do? Coach, I just fucking ran straight as fast as hard, as hard as I could and didn't stop moving my feet. That's a fucking mentality that a lot of the NFL is missing right now. And they, they lost it when they kind of got rid of fullbacks a little bit. And that's the kind of attitude this guy's bringing. There was a great clip of, I think it was Demario Davis, giving this kid flowers and like, kind of like, you know, saying like, dude, this guy's for real. Like he, I fuck with them just because there's no back down. There's no quit. And you need a guy like that.
49:16Every team needs that guy. Like the replacements. We talk about it with Keanu. You know, the fucking middle linebacker, right? Like everybody needs that guy that's like, yeah, you're going to ask me to do something really stupid. I don't give a fuck. I'm willing to go do this dumb ass thing just with relentless energy. And I'm going to fucking attack everything in front of me. Like that's what fullback was. Every team needs a guy like that. And everybody loves that guy, especially when there's an energy. I don't know why, dude. This guy reminds me a little bit of Ezekiel Elliott. There's like an enthusiasm and an energy about him that is just fun to watch.
49:56And I hope they lose every game as an Eagles fan, but I also kind of love watching it. You got to kind of move forward. Yeah, I got to say it. It is what it is. You know what it's going to do? is going to make me, you know, when Sunday at noon or 1 o 'clock Eastern time, like whenever that time comes around, it's like, man, let me see what the Giants got going on today. Like they fucking make me want to watch the Giants because of how fun they – because of the energy they got, man. It's a mentality that is oftentimes missed in today's NFL. It's hard to find high-level talented players that do not give a fuck if they're about to fucking KO themselves.
50:35Yeah. They're going to fucking keep coming at it. mental toughness and... Hey, sports science says it's not smart to run full speed into the middle linebacker with your head down. Yeah? Well, fucking watch this, motherfucker. Take your science. You want to see something cool? Take your science, turn it sideways, bend around and shove it right up your candy of ass. Cam Scandiboo's coming right up that thing, baby. Oh, man. That was gold thank you i love everything about it i really do zero filter man you gotta have a psycho you gotta have a psycho man you gotta have a one or two or three or four you gotta have a few man those meathead just like don't give a fuck what they're doing like no and having fun doing it johnny knoxville with shoulder pads on just willing to fuck himself up for the team yeah quotes from teammates are hysterical he's genuinely an idiot from uh gunner i don't even know how to fucking say this polish ass name gunnar oisuzowski what the fuck am i doing brandon i don't know what this fucking name is i love how brandon got that straight i'll put it in here if we can't he's genuinely an idiot love that uh jackson dart the first time we met we said three words to each other just headbutted each other they're fucking they're just the bash bros this Which is a reincarnation of the Bash Bros and the Mighty Ducks.
52:06And that's why the Bash Bros were so, that's why the Ducks were so fucking good. Zero filter. First time at a special teams meeting, he asked, what's our job? Our job is to play with speed, get off the ball, and then this animal just goes, physicality! And it just made no sense. No, it made all the sense. But it does. That's the thing. It makes all the sense. Don't let all these X's and O's get in the way of the fact that it, what's Marshawn Lins say? That's my favorite interview of all time. Not too many people can take someone to run through their face over and over and over and over and over and over and over.
52:40After he says that, the guy says, is there something more symbolic in that? And he says, run through a motherfucking face. No, motherfucker, there ain't a metaphor. There's no fucking simile happen. There ain't a pun. It's just fucking me and your goddamn chest, and I'm putting a hole in that motherfucker. That's what the fucking science is. Dude, you're getting me fired up. God damn, that shit's gold. All right. Rest of the league. Dolphins suck. God damn it, man. They might be cooked, man. I just, even the, like the Mike McDaniels, like, like press, Mike McDaniels press conference is just like, he knows they're cooked.
53:20Like there's like zero, there's like zero hope happening right now with the Dolphins. I just don't even know what to take of them. and it's you watch the tape and there's still like creative stuff being designed like it just feels like they are they are searching man the line is struggling to block a lot of that stuff uh you know it's i haven't been able to catch them uh playing as much i just see the demeanor after games i'm just like man that's they're in a tough spot the demeanor's bad and like even not even just after games to a tug of low was telling the reporters that dolphins players have been late and or skipping players only meetings in recent weeks what's a players only mean if the players are showing up like it's just the janitor's in there just he's the only one in the players meeting what the fuck are we doing how does that even how does that even happen typically the players only meeting happens after like a team meeting or something hey everybody we're just going to stay in here talk like how many players only meetings are these guys scheduling do you know i'm so confused at like how this is like a thing like well we had the players only meeting Tuesday and everybody showed up and then the one on Wednesday like yeah they should have used WhatsApp they got all on the same page we got an RSVP in there that's the problem what guys were going to come it's all about communication guys they're SMSing and they need to get the WhatsApp you can use that across all your devices no excuse to miss the WhatsApp players missing the players only meetings is fucking hilarious to me damn it man I fucking love to him man he's a good dude man he's a great dude and he's pointing it out like it's like it's just not good football nightmares uh trent williams shared uh he has nightmares about showing up late to games i get one frequently oversleeping a game pulling up at halftime waking up in a sweat i mean it's interesting have you ever had a late uh to a game nightmare nightmare no just like a real life i was living that dream dude reality yeah yeah my reality is fucking being late and sweating on my way to the fucking stadium i can't say i ever had this nightmare i is it bad like i don't remember my dreams i think it's a kelsey thing is that a kelsey thing like i don't i'm right i couldn't tell you the last dream i remember having do you remember waking up dad how funny is it to wake up we need to get that on camera and show the world what it's like to wake up like every time you catch ed kelsey sleeping and you nudge him he wakes up like he is falling out of the sky i just like what the fuck is going on in your dream that you can't just wake up gracefully i just don't understand it like he is a deep sleeper dude we got to catch this on camera because i don't think i've ever caught anybody else waking up like that routinely i used to add to it and like try and like fucking scream or something when I was a kid.
56:13I was just a tortured dad when he was sleeping on the couch, man. Fuck. Like, was he doing it just to try and – it felt like he was, like, trying to scare us. Like, he was like – Like, oh, don't do that. Woo! Like – He might have. That sounds like it. He's a deep sleeper. Jets update, still winless. An amazing stat. Justin Fields, negative 10 yards passing. Fewest in franchise history, fewest in the NFL since the Bears had a minus 20 game against the Lions in 1981. Things got so bad, Kurt Warner started tweeting while he was announcing the game. Oh, no. He's announcing the game, and he's – that's hilarious.
56:52Somebody please explain that last Jets drive. Not really sure what I just watched. I just like – He's watching it like I need some help here, guys. I got to crowdsource this. I don't know what to even say anymore. Damn, Kurt. Jets Jake, can we get some – like we got to bring you on Jets Jake. Jake, our local Jets expert, Jets Jake, also a social media expert extraordinaire. Jake, what's going on with the Jets? From your expert NFL perspective, what do you think is happening? The defense was really bad at first. Then the defense got better. Now the offense can't do anything. It's all really bad.
57:29Garrett Wilson's hurt now. He was like the only bright spot on the offense. They've been running the ball pretty good. Yeah, offense was playing pretty good. they they had i mean running the ball was the only thing that they could do and then people force them to throw the ball and they got negative 10 passing yards so yeah it's there it's not it's not a fun i was so optimistic we cut that out of the episode a few weeks ago but i was like they're gonna be over 500 by the bye and they're zero and six right now are you talking about the uh after the first game where they almost beat the steelers the only good game they've had yeah I was super optimistic.
58:04They've been in all of them just like they've been in that game. They had that one and then the one close game against Arizona. Against Tampa. Tampa. Tampa, yes. They were close. Yes. Yeah. No, it's been a real fun season to watch. I'm glad I have your guys' teams also root for it, but it's not the same. Brandon asked me if I, like, still care, and, like, I can't not care. Like, I've invested so much in. Sure you can. Try it out. It's great. No, he's got a Jets tattoo. He has to. I don't. Someone else does who we will have on the show. Are we having them on the show? We promised somebody they would be on the show.
58:39He keeps getting... He got bumped for Leo, Keanu, The Rock. He'll have his day. That's enough bumping him. This guy got a fucking tattoo. We're not bumping him anymore. I want him on the show. I want his take on this negative 10 yards passing. That's what I want. Are they a Jets fan? Probably not. I think they just want to come on the show. He just got a tattoo of me Sure he is. Riding the Jets logo, which was very humbling and honoring. Anyways. Either way. It's been a fun year. I love football. Football's great. Thanks for joining us. Thanks for jumping in and giving us your take. Appreciate it, Jake.
59:11Hold on. Wait. One thing. One thing. Get back in here, Jake. I want to do one thing. Jake, just because we've wasted time in the Jets now. You've got to give me something. Pick the first win. Oh, boy. Oh, wow. Pick the first win. Call your shot. Babe Ruth, point to Outfield. Call it right now. Do it. Do it. This is going to look really bad really quickly if I'm wrong, but Carolina has been horrible on the road. I do think the 0-6 Jets could get a win. This is why I care every week. Call it. Next week, I do think the Jets win that game, Carolina coming into MetLife. We'll see you next week, Jake.
59:47Lock it in. See you guys next week. We'll get an update next week. Thank you. Truly amazing optimism in the face of such horrid. Jake is a sick man. Evidence. The ability of Jets fans to negate what they're observationally looking at is truly remarkable. Thank you, Jake, for your input. Thank you, Jake. No problem. We are officially a third of the way through the NFL season. So let's take a look at where we're at so far. All right, who's good? Toughest division. Toughest division might be the ASUS. I don't know who else. NFC North, probably. Lions, Packers. Bears got a big win against Washington.
1:00:26There's a lot of bad. What's happening in the NFL? It is a crazy year. I don't know what's going on. There's not really any team that feels like they are like the juggernaut. No. Feels like it's wide open. Bills losing last night. Dude, nobody. Lions look like they were starting to get it done. Then you guys go out there. I mean, the Chiefs kind of feel that way, but they're 3-3. I just, I don't. It's a wild year right now, man. The Colts, the Colts are 5-1, but they haven't played anybody. like i'd like the colts but like i still got to see it yeah yeah i don't know man it's just a weird year it's wide open who do you think the biggest surprise is daniel jones i don't think it's daniel jones man i'm surprised i think everybody who thought that daniel jones was going to go in there and through the first six weeks be the number one quarterback in qbr the colts would be five and one like i thought daniel jones got around and he went into a great opportunity.
1:01:23Yeah, I mean, listen, I thought he got a shit end of the stick over in New York. Great wide receivers, a studded tight end right now. Okay, but you thought it was going to look like this? You thought it was going to look like this? I don't know. Have you... No, I don't know. Nobody thought it was going to be this. I didn't have a thought. Fair enough. But at the same time, it's like it makes sense that he's going out there and he's winning football games. I thought he was a better quarterback in New York than people gave him credit, but I definitely did not expect this. He has far exceeded any of my expectations.
1:01:52And I don't know who else has been the biggest surprise. Like I'm trying to think. I'd say Seattle. I didn't feel. You didn't think Darnold would be able to repeat? It's not even Darnold, man. I just knew the first year coach, Seattle kind of turned. Is it second year? My bad. they traded DK I'm like what does that team look like with the new quarterback and a second year coach and sure enough man they're I mean I saw it firsthand in preseason I'm like man this this team is this team's got juice this team can run the fucking football yeah they got players man they got they got dogs a wide receiver they got my guy AJ Barner from from Cleveland Ohio Ohio football player at tight end baby let's fucking go I mean listen they had a big win this past I think they've definitely been surprising.
1:02:42Trying to think of who else. I thought the Bucs would be great, so that's not a surprise. I guess I'm surprised the 49ers have been able to weather all these injuries and somehow be towards the top of the NFL. They've done a great job with that. Now they just lose Fred Warner. I mean, it's like... They get my guy George Kittle back, but Fred Warner and... Patriots got to be up there. It's tough. Patriots got to be up there. I mean, Vrabel got them right quick. They're playing good ball. Drake May looks legit. Making a lot of plays. Not just he makes on-schedule plays, then he scrambles around, makes off-schedule plays.
1:03:17The poise. That's what it is. The calm and savviness of him. He looks like a fucking eight-year, ten-year veteran. Been doing it for a while. Yeah. It's impressive. Ravens struggling is a surprise, but I think when you go through the injuries, it's not that surprising. I don't know, man. The whole year is a surprise. It's just been wild. All the teams I thought were going to be the competitive teams coming in, it just looks like all of them are, you know, they're losing games. It's so wide open. Coach of the year. Who do we think is the coach of the year through the first quarter? I mean, I'm a little biased.
1:03:52Andy? Come on now, baby. Come on. Don't be a homer for once, Travis. Andy Reid is expected. You guys are expected to go to the Super Bowl and you're 3-3. Do not give me Andy Reid as the coach of the year through the first quarter. I love Andy Reid. I love Andy. He's the coach of my world. I love Andy Reid. Who's exceeded their expectations the most? Vrabes. I think it's Vrabes. I feel like even with the Colts, it felt like there's pieces in place, and Shane's done a phenomenal job this year. I think the Patriots being good is the biggest surprise. I did not think that they would be good this year.
1:04:25I thought it was going to take longer for them to be good. So I'll go with Vrabel, plus another Ohio guy to just give an award to. MVP. Let's go, Northeast Ohio. MVP. I think it's a clear runaway through the first quarter of the season. Pat Mahomes, baby. Baker Mayfield. No question about it. I love Baker, so I'll allow that. He's got a lot of great weapons, but he's also – I mean, this last game, like, everybody's hurt. Mike Evans is down. Chris Godwin's down. Buka's down. Bucky's down. And he's still balling. He's still putting up over 300 yards, basically. He's tearing it up this year. Shake and bake, baby.
1:04:57Bold Topics was brought to you by Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers. How about it, man? That does it for Bold Topics. Specifically, the fingers. All right. Jinx. One of my favorite teammates right now. Guy's fucking awesome to be in the building with. Detroit's finest. And couldn't be happier that he got his opportunity to shine on a little Monday or a little Sunday night football. Make sure to ask Jalen if he's a Michigan or a Michigan State fan. I'm going to say he's a state guy. I hope he is. I could. I don't know. Kind of loser says Michigan fan. Okay, State fans who went tarps off. Did you see this?
1:06:05No. What's this video? Tarps off. Apparently one fan went shirtless in the second half, and it grew to three full sections. I mean, there's nobody at the fucking game. Yeah, they're not very good this year, I don't think. I mean, I can't award. I love the no shirts. and this would be epic if it was packed sections doing this i mean it's packed right there it's fucking back there's nobody at the fucking game travis bro it's packed right there that section is packed though i'm not giving this any love if it would have been bigger i would have been all on board all right rico dowdle i keep giving him the himmy he had i mean again rico dowdle went for more than 230 yards from scrimmage he's fucking what two games in a row he's been fucking unbelievable torched his former team the dallas cowboys um it wasn't even all like big runs either like it was a lot of like seven yard eight yard like just like man mountain dean coming downhill like i love this he warned his former dallas cowboys teammates last week they'd better get ready and buckle up and then after the game they wasn't buckled up wasn't buckled up that's a banger no they weren't Tez Johnson won 45 yard touchdown reception and thought the crowd was chanting MVP for him oh yeah I mean that's a funny one it's a funny one MVP MVP MVP MVP MVP MVP MVP MVP MVP MVP MVP MVP MVP MVP MVP MVP MVP MVP MVP No he's not getting a stand for that Texas A &M Police Twitter account What's this Brandon You haven't heard about this No This is the Texas A &M police Twitter account that you need to follow on Saturdays because they just tweet out the various students being arrested at games.

1:14:16Our guest today is 6 '1", actor from Toronto, Canada. New York Times ranks him as the fourth greatest actor of the 21st century, but he's number one in your heart. You know him from The Matrix, John Wick, Point Break Speed. the replacements and many more and coming soon now his new movie good fortune please welcome keanu reed
1:14:44thank you thank you this is awesome dude keanu you're a legend brother congrats on everything uh as of late and congrats on good fortune man thank you thank you it's a fun film i had a great time making it. Oh, yeah. It's a fun watch, man. It's a fun watch. How about it, my guy? Oh, yeah, of course. You got the screeners? Oh, yeah. I'm in, yeah. You played a hell of an angel, man. Tacos, baby. Who doesn't love tacos? Tell me about what it was like working with Aziz Ansari as a director. He was really lovely. He had a vision. He invited me to the vision and then was really collaborative you know I'd go to his house we'd work on script get some rehearsals some read throughs worked with he and Seth Rogan legends and so then just he just kept working on the script trying to make it better and better get his kind of the tone and what he wanted the film to be about and I really appreciated him inviting me into that process through the character Gabriel do you want to tell us a little bit in your words about the film.
1:15:55I mean, I know obviously you're an angel. There's, it feels like a very, like, the trope has very much been done before of like, you know, does money solve happiness? But I feel like you guys did it in a little bit different way and you shed a more truthful light on it, I guess. Yeah. I mean, it's like an angel comes down trying to do better. He swaps Aziz's character who's kind of having hard times and he's sleeping in his car. and um with seth rogan who's kind of venture capitalist doing pretty well off and um in the typical kind of body swatch switch movie the you know the guy you know kind of see i'm like i i expect gabriel expects him to see how the other half lives and that money doesn't mean anything and it's really about something else and in this film it's like well no actually money can help it's so good dude it actually does make a difference why would i go back he actually says why dude can you make me go back and i'm like technically no and i'm like but you're not that kind of guy you know you're taking someone else's life and he's like yeah yeah well then let me just do it for a couple of weeks yeah um but through that journey because then of course I'm kind of screwing up.
1:17:16I'm not supposed to switch these lives. And then when he doesn't want to go back, then I basically get fired. You do wing, man. I have to become human. And then I go on this journey of kind of seeing how they both are. That's some of my favorite parts of the movie is you having to now be human and realizing what food tastes like. Yeah. Food, spreading, a hamburger, chicken. And that was fun. I found it pretty funny because I feel like of all the celebrities of a list celebrities, when I think of them, you seem the most like down to earth, like figuratively and literally. Like I see you go and taking public transport.
1:17:57You're walking down the street like you are with the people. There's nothing that like you push that like you are not connected to like the human experience. Yeah. Was there something that spoke to you in particular about like what this the message this film was trying to put across? in that regard? Yeah, for sure. I mean, I thought that it handled the kind of allegory or, you know, taking on a kind of tough subject of people, you know, having to work multiple jobs. And he kind of, Aziz kind of takes on the perception of the American dream. And, you know, that can be not funny. And I thought he was really sensitive to representing that struggle at a certain level and and coming to a place that's you know not just about hope but practical things and sent in this in the sense of just it's about friendship it's about connection it's about laughter it's about yeah heart and yes these other things are happening um but take that take the take what we have what we can do you know take each other reach out be connected you know yes really just on a backbone and and the and the riches of being alive beautifully said beautifully said as always beautifully said man well i gotta ask you would would kiana reeves be a good angel or a bad angel in real life how do you think you'd nail that that's my job well if i'm in my mind to it i think i would yes okay i'd be okay my angel Gabriel he's just in charge of like texting and driving so if someone so good I love that I love that it separates like they separate the angel duties like no that's not your business department over here you know I could just pop you on the shoulder and kind of help you know I look up to another angel Azrael who's like you know saving lost souls I don't know could try Well, I'm feeling you'd nail it.
1:20:07You haven't done a comedy in a minute. What sparked you to kind of go back into that genre? Well, I mean, John Wick's got some humor. Oh, yeah. But it's not a comedy. Yes. I mean, I love it. I love it. And I hadn't done it for a while. I had done another sequel with Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. years ago um but really since then uh no i hadn't done any and it was great to work with aziz and seth rogan who's a genius and yep sandra oh and kiki palmer's in and she's amazing um and i just uh you know it's fun hey there we go man just have fun i mean there's a lot of crap to it but It's fun.
1:20:56That group that you just mentioned right there, man, that sounds like one of the funnest hangouts you could put together. It sounds like everybody's having a good old time. For us, like non-professionals in the movie world, in the film world, you were talking about how you and Aziz got together beforehand in terms of the script and to build these characters or build his vision on it. Like how far in advance does that happen before you guys even start to film? Or is it just like a nonstop, like ongoing? I don't know. I got the script a few months before we started filming. And then I would say probably the four weeks leading up to four or five weeks leading up to just meet a couple of times.
1:21:42Nice. Just before filming a little more intensely. You know, because I was going a certain path with the character and he really wanted me to bring back some of the energy and lightness of previous roles. So he wanted a little bit of Bill and Ted in there. Did you ever see a film called Parenthood? Of course. On Howard's film. So he played a character in that and he wanted some of that guy. So he wanted a little bit of, and I liked that. I mean, I liked this old soul with a bit of innocence to him. Yeah. But he really directed that, and he gave me that note about three weeks before we started filming.
1:22:21Wow. And you can just channel it all. I mean, obviously, you're one of the best to ever do it, but you can just channel it all right then and there and really start to get ingrained in it from there. I had to bring a little bit back. There we go. There we go. There we go. I had to knock the cob's webs off a little bit. I'm just 16 years old, man. And I'm like, but it gave me light. It gave me energy, you know, and it gave the character a kind of like presentness, you know, a way to see things that I think the viewer can take on his point of view, which was great. That's awesome. Well, we got one last question related.
1:23:00If you could swap bodies or lives with anyone, who would you swap with? Oh, my gosh. um uh i'm just trying to make it work in this one um that's fair that's a fair one yeah i don't know i mean i okay well you guys are involved in athletics so let's do let's go if i was like what would be a moment like you know we hear about those moments in sports where where they go people go into the zone you know like where you we're almost unconscious and you're just instinctive and you're doing that. And then I always, I love the Olympics. I love that someone, the dedication, and like four years in a lifetime coming up.
1:23:48It's crazy. That one moment, right? And seeing you guys, it's like the whistle, right? Yeah, yeah. You know, and like, and now it's time. You know? Everything you've worked for is going to happen right now. You better fucking get this bobsled moving, brother. You know what I mean? So, like, imagine being like, I don't know, Usain Bolt breaking the world record. The fastest man in the world is – that's amazing. Great Luginus on that fast dive. I mean, he did, like, a perfect dive. Yeah. I mean, like, hockey, I grew up playing hockey. Heck yeah, baby. Hell yes. Grew up on the ice, baby. That's what I'm talking about.
1:24:30Toronto, Canada, you have to. You're not allowed to grow up in Toronto without playing hockey. Exactly. What position did you play? I was a goaltender. Goalie too? What? I played net. Let's go, man. I think being in someone's body, being in an athletic body, achieving that one moment, like whatever that was. Heck yeah. I'm not going to lie. We've talked about it before. For me, winning the Super Bowl was kind of like that. You feel like the people that make these movies, man, they fucking nail it. How did they do this? It's crazy. I still remember Super Bowl 52, the last play of the game. Tom Brady goes back.
1:25:12He throws a Hail Mary to Gronk. We're going to win the game. We know that this is going to get completed. He throws the ball up. And a stadium full of 65 ,000 people, you don't hear a thing. It is completely silent. The ball feels like it's taking forever. Finally, it falls. Somehow, while it's in the air, there's violins playing. I didn't hear that. But I remember running on the field. And I still, I'm like running on the field. Is this game over? And you still don't. Your senses are so in the moment of like what's happening up here that they're blocked out. Until I saw everybody else celebrating, then it almost like the sensation rushes in all at once.
1:25:56It's insane. And Trav talks about being in the zone a lot. He talks about it being blacked out on the field. Yeah, I'm blacked out. It takes me a second to actually have to, like, process, wait, what just even that just happened right there? Like, how did I just get hit that fast? And why are we 10 yards downfield? Do you guys find this too? I mean, I did it. I mean, I went to a pretty high level in hockey as a junior. I mean, I didn't do junior A or anything like that. But to me, it was like even when you were, like, unconscious, it's so interesting. and this happens on stage too how much you can also think yeah oh oh yeah i think you have all those built up it almost like frees up your thinking like you're not like bogged down overthinking it yeah it just feels like you just process it you have all those built up instincts that you just been you just been channeling and fixing and just making it to where when you need to pull out that answer to to whatever's going on that instinct just hits so fast and it's like And the body knows.
1:27:00I'm sure you're looking at people. People are looking at your hips and where you're going to turn and how do you – They don't want to look at the hips, Keanu. They don't want to look at the hips, baby. They don't want to look at the hips, whatever it is. I know. I got to ask you more questions about being a goal. First of all, nine times out of ten, for anybody watching, whoever's the goalie is usually the craziest person on the team. It's almost always that way. It's the best kind of crazy goal. No doubt. What was your style in net? Are we butterfly? Like, were you, did you have a weakness? What was your strength?
1:27:31So I grew up in an era in the, I guess, I mean, I started playing street hockey and ice hockey in the 70s. And then I guess my hockey was like 80, 81, 82, 83, 84, 85. So it was like, and high school hockey. I had a tryout for junior B team and then had a possible tryout for June major junior a. But, um, so I was kind of like a crossover style. So I, my seventies styles were more stand upright. Yeah. No, but I was still like Jerry Chevers from Boston. And she really kind of brought around the butterfly style, but early days. And then there was like, 70s Russian hockey, which was like Tretiak, who kind of did the butterfly a little bit.
1:28:26I was doing Jacques Plante, Bernie Perrant. I was about to say Bernie, rest in peace, just passed away. Legendary flyer. You beat me to it. I was like, I would get told I went down too much. I was like a stand-up goalie with a little... I was a stand-up goalie first. So like, in ice hockey but in a butterfly position you kind of kick out like here yes yeah old stand-up style if you were going to do a skate save you would turn out oh wow that doesn't make any sense man right so if you were exposure right there here no but like if the shot's going low to my glove side right yeah you would go butterfly and stop it here right got it got it you would go out yes anyway i've seen that maneuver now watching all the time old school hockey that's good shit right there man i did some celebrity games and i remember some of the players were playing like i've you know you're in a celebrity game and it's like oh you can play hockey i'm like yeah i'm okay and then they're like wow you're like they would say to me it's like wow playing against you's like when we played like in high school like old time so good i love it i had a good glove hand really fast reflexes and I was positionally sound.
1:29:45Oh, it's at a good angle. I love it, man. We grew up playing hockey. I don't know if you know that, Keanu. We played growing up too. I recently got back out on the ice and just like rented a pair of skates. Haven't been out there in like 10 years. There was like a, I just happened to stumble across this. I was trying to watch football games in Jacksonville. And for some reason, the sports bar was in an ice rink and there were beer leaks happening all around me. And one of the guys like, Hey, do you want to hop out on the ice i'm like hell yeah let's go baby and i mean i was like a deer i i like a baby deer trying to skate i couldn't do it i don't know i blaming it on the skates i'm hoping i still got it but it just made me fall in love with i just love being in an ice rink smell like everything about it yeah it's like stale yeah yeah man i'm telling you i hate playing in the heat in football when it gets to like right now to November and December and January, where it feels like I'm just breathing in a nice rink.
1:30:44Oh man. I could go all day. We do want to ask some more questions. Is there a Mount Rushmore in your opinion of Keanu Reeves quotes? Like what are your favorite quotes that you get thrown at you like routinely from your career? Okay. Well, I'll just say some of that hit come out on the street, like, you know, Gary Busey saying, you know, Utah, give me two. Yeah, okay, okay, there we go. It's not my line, but. Yeah, that's a good one. Give me two. I did a film in the 80s called River's Edge, where my character calls another character, motherfucker, food eater. You just hear it. Mother, eat a food eater.
1:31:24Motherfucker, food eater. I guess I've been known for saying, whoa. Yeah, yeah. um, Bill and Ted's be excellent. Um, dude, that's, that was the one I immediately think of. It's just such a great way to go about life, man. Summed up perfectly. Be excellent to each other and party on baby.
1:31:48So sweet. Be excellent to each other. I don't know. Does John Wick have any, I mean, it's just a dog. It wasn't just a dog. Yeah. I don't know. He, he doesn't, I don't know. He's more of a quiet, calm, centered. throughout the whole thing i think up just this maniacally yeah that was crazy he just came through the screen man that's awesome maybe that's the what it makes you think oh man dude after good fortune you're gonna be having cigarettes and tacos thrown at you man it's so good it's not a bad day there you go yeah it's one of the things we love as humans we'll get to our last segment big dog and uh get you out of here man um our last segment is called we got to ask but you don't have to answer you can tell us to fuck off but we would love that we would love to hear your uh your input on a few of these man um first one famously played neo from the matrix as we were just talking about um are you upset we apparently learned nothing from those movies like ai is how far are we out from just the matrix being real brother do you think about this you got to think about this like a lot right yeah yeah yeah Yeah.
1:33:03Yep. It doesn't seem like we're like moths to the flame. It's like we can't help ourselves. Yeah. You know, if we can do it, we'll do it. Yeah. We're doing it, and we don't know actually what we're doing sometimes. Yeah. That's what it feels like. What are the ramifications? What could go south here? How far does this go? Are we already there? Are we already in a simulation? I get I go back and forth man I choose to believe no I choose to believe no but yeah I don't know maybe I've just watched the matrix too many times there you go yeah the matrix kind of is like gives a lot of especially in the first three films a lot of weight to reality what is real what is real and a lot of um power to that question and i remember a few years ago i was at a dinner and um the host had a couple of kids like 15 12 13 15 and someone and one of them asked me to explain the plot of the matrix and i was like well i play this character and you know basically trying to fight for what's real against you know a simulation and and this young person goes well like who cares if it's real no way man it's and i was like oh okay yeah it's one way to look at it yeah yeah that's where it's headed you know and it's so it's like how we're going to value those that matter and who will care well it's crazy i'm on I'm on the real.
1:34:49I'm on the real side, man. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Lighter note. Okay. In point break, Patrick Swayze does a lot of his own skydiving. Are you known as your own stunts kind of guy? And like John Wick, obviously, we've seen all the action. Like, do you do a lot of your own stunts? Yeah. I like to say, because it's true, that I don't do stunts. Okay. Fair enough. All right. My son, Donald Double Jackson Spidell, got hit by a lot of cars. I didn't get hit by him. John was getting hit by a lot of cars and Jackson was getting hit by cars. So if I'm there, if I'm doing something, like I really learned actually with Point Break and a wonderful stunt coordinator named Glenn Wilder and in a film called Speed with a stunt coordinator named Gary Hines, how can we put the actor into the action?
1:35:41Because then you don't have to cut away from the story and the character. And so you create a really good connection with the audience. And I really liked that and believed in that. And that's something that the Wachowskis on The Matrix believed in and wanted to do as well. So I'll do as much as I can do. But if I'm there, it's not a stunt. And if I'm not there, it's a stunt because it's dangerous. Well, this brings up another thing we wanted to ask you. You've done all these iconic action movies where you're moving and fighting and running. Is it true that you got hurt doing this last film more than you got hurt in all these other ones?
1:36:23Like you're an angel tapping people on the back who are texting driving. All of a sudden you hurt your knee. Is that accurate? Yep. Oh, no. Oh, no. Well, I was chewing a scene and I was going back to the dressing room, which was at a residence. And they had a carpet laid down to protect the owner's carpet. And then there was a little section and I caught my foot and I started to fall. And then I spiked my left knee. Spiked it. And my left went like this. My kneecap. I had a vertical break. It didn't break the top and bottom. A vertical break. I've never heard of this. I've never heard of this.
1:37:08So. Oh my God. It just snapped right in the middle of it. It's better than a horizontal break. Well, that's good. At least it's better than a horizontal, but that still sounds pretty messed up. Did it heal? Do you need surgery for this, or did it all just heal on its own? No, but with the vertical, they just said, you know, I was immobilized and wore a brace for basically 10 weeks. But I filmed while I had that. But until they pulled the blood out of the capsule, the pain was banana cakes. You guys ever had, like, I'm sure your knees aren't in great shape. I have had that exact same fall, but usually it happens on grass or whatever.
1:37:49You don't break your patella. What happens is you rupture your bursa sac. So your knee just fills with insane fluid. Yeah, yeah. Just balloons up. I remember I burst a bursa sac one time, and for some reason, when all the fluid in there was pushing on a nerve, and just, yeah, it's one of the most intense pain I've ever done with. Yeah, exactly. 100 % I didn't want to move it yeah man when he went to drain it it was like oh see that's yeah the drain get the CC's out of there I think I had over 50 CC's it was just like yeah it's like that can't be good oh man yeah it's the worst anyway so comedy is hard you gotta pick those knees up baby You played the voice of one of our favorite TV shows, Severance.
1:38:46You played the voice of the Lumen Building in Severance. What was it like almost losing out on the role to Barack Obama? Oh, I didn't know. Did you hear this? Oh, my gosh. Are we breaking news? We're breaking this news here. I didn't know. Did Ben Stiller tell you that? Ben told us that. Yeah, he said he was thinking about Barack Obama. It was one part. Well, then Barack must have said no, and I was like. I was, oh my God, I was the second choice. That's okay, as long as I got the gig. There you go. There you go. I don't care if I'm not the first. If you weren't an actor, what would Keanu Reeves be doing?
1:39:21I don't know. We could ask that question a lot too. Playing in the NHL or what? Hey. You know, I was, I probably, I mean, I was good, but I probably wasn't good enough. I always, when I, when I thought about professional hockey, I always thought of just doing the Olympic hockey team, Canadian hockey team. That's so cool. Might have been able to book probably not. But anyway, what would I be doing? I don't know. We get asked that same question. And I don't know either. I feel like once you've been going along with something for so long, it's like it's hard to imagine what would have manifested without you doing that.
1:39:57I know it is for us. They're like, what would you do if you weren't a football player? I was like, I don't know. Coach? Yeah, be a teacher. The only thing I can think of is what I wouldn't be. And it wouldn't be a landscaper because my dad always used to look at me when I did the yard work and be like, boy, you better get paid by the hour. You ain't getting shit done. Exactly. Yeah. Taking my good old time.
1:40:26Out of nowhere, the rake is on the floor and the football is being thrown in the air to myself. What is the best piece of life advice that Keanu Reeves has ever got? I haven't had a lot of advice. No? You've just been out here. I like it, though, man. Just living and learning. Lots of living and learning. We're trying to. A lot of living, but trying to learn. And advice, advice, advice. What would be the best advice you would give somebody? Oh, you know, I think, you know, I've been told the best advice was, like, rest. Okay. Hell yeah. It's probably just like before, just get some rest. I'm with you, man.
1:41:11I love it. I'm with you, dude. Listen. There's nothing better than putting your feet up after you've been working your fucking ass off, man. Dude, if you're looking for advice, putting your head down and going to sleep is sometimes some of the best things you can do. I mean, I guess maybe that's not good. It is good advice. I think it's great advice. Yeah. Especially if somebody's looking for advice because then they've been thinking about it, right? It's like, man, how can I solve this? What can I do? And nine times out of ten, once you're in that state, it's like, all right. Let's take a second and rest.
1:41:39Take a rest. Get a clear mind. Get a clear mind. Let's come back to this. Recharge that brain. I didn't get the clear the mind part.
1:41:49All right. Last question. And it can be good, bad, whatever you choose. Do you have a welcome to Hollywood moment? Oh, welcome to Hollywood moment. We ask a lot of our guests who are athletes, welcome to the NFL moment, whatever. Do you have a welcome to the industry? Welcome to Hollywood? Welcome to acting? Like, is there anything that stands out where you're like, man, this is either what I want to do or yeah, go ahead. Sorry. I got paid when I was like 16. So I was a professional actor around 16, 17. Okay. Wow. In Toronto, Canada. And then I got a manager who lived in Los Angeles. And I ended up doing a movie of the week in Canada, Toronto, that got me an agent in LA.
1:42:33Okay. So at 20 years old, I drove in my car to Los Angeles, got out of my car, and my manager said, we want to change your name. And so that's like a welcome to Hollywood. No way. Did they have a name in their back pocket? Or did they say? No. You didn't even let it get to that point. You were like, I'm not going to say it. And I remember I was on the beach. I was walking on the beach and I was just like, my name, what have I changed? My name? Yeah. No. And it ended up, my middle name is Charles. So I was like Chuck. And I grew up on a street called Spadina, Chuck Spadina. And then I was like something Templeton.
1:43:17But then I was just like, so then I became Casey Reeves. Casey Reeves? Casey Reeves? I'm credited as Casey Reeves. In your first film? I think so. Maybe. Wow. Maybe. I think there is. And then I couldn't do it. So then I would be auditions and they'd go Casey Reeves. And I would be like, I wouldn't even answer. Somebody's going to call you and you've got to respond. I think six months later I was like, I'm not doing this. Yeah. There you go. Yeah. But that's a Hollywood moment. Yeah. I was about to say, welcome to Hollywood, baby. Well, Keanu, we cannot thank you enough. Who's going to win the Super Bowl?
1:43:55I think the Kansas City Chiefs are rolling right now, big guy. Yeah, baby. Don't sleep on those Eagles. Jason. Don't sleep on those birds, baby. Forget rolling here. Do you have a squad? Do you have a team you favor? Well, I mean, I've been so enjoying your success. And, like, I never became a Patriots hater. I always kind of was like, okay. I mean, they are what they are. but emotionally I never got Patriots but I still like they had so many great players there was a kid it was a Steelers and then Lin Swan he was so graceful sounds just like it looks just like his name I liked Joe Montana Joe Montana baby he was a chief at one point Heck yeah, in the 90s, baby.
1:44:56I mean, I like that. And so now I guess my childhood heart is with the Steelers and that experiment that's going on. Dude, I mean, they're rolling right now. They're rolling right now. It's the experiment. There's something. Yeah, baby. They're winning. They're leading the North right now, baby. We did like a poll a few years back, and I've been on record as this. I think the Steelers is the best name in football. Oh, yeah. I just, it's like such a football, it's a strong name. It represents the community so well. Like it's an embodiment of the people that built, like literally built the city and a lot of the United States.
1:45:33I just think it's a fantastic like ethos to a city. And then like all the sports teams at Pittsburgh match with the black and yellow. Like it's a very cool sports town. And the team always feels like it's like, that's what it represents. Like the toughness and like this, the steel side of that. And then they go out and get the biggest, strongest, fastest wide receiver in the NFL. It's like, all right, that's a stealer's move right there. I got to say, Keanu, I can't thank you enough for coming on, man. Everyone check out Good Fortune. But I got to say more than that, not only do I love you as an actor and what you've embodied in your films, you're tremendous.
1:46:10I just love your entire ethos, man. I know I don't know you know you, but just observing from afar, I appreciate what you stand for. the way you go about life and everything brother so thank you for hopping on this sports podcast my girlfriend would love to say hello Alexandra nice your journeys that are going on and she's like got big love for all of that we'll send the love right back brother you already know from what everybody says you just knew he was about to be the smoothest cat that we've talked to yet he's such a good dude man And now I really, really want him to come out to a Kansas City Chiefs game so I can hang with him.
1:46:52Yeah. Did not disappoint. Fantastic human being. Unbelievable actor. Unbelievable football player. Shane Falco. You can't tell me he couldn't have won a Super Bowl with that Ravens team. I mean, listen, I got full faith. Full faith. Ex-hockey goalie tough. I mean, just hand it off. Was it Jamal Lewis? Just hand it off to Jamal Lewis? How fascinating was that to hear him talk about the style of goaltending. Stand-up versus butterfly versus from the 70s to the 80s. When he was saying it, I was like, that sounds like Bernie Perron. I feel like he's speaking about Bernie Perron right now. Yeah, that he said it.
1:47:26I wanted to get a Patrick Waugh reference in there. Well, that's a way different style. Yeah. Do you remember, Dad? I remember one time I'm watching the Avalanche because that was the team I liked because we didn't have a team in Cleveland. I was a huge Peter Forsberg fan. And I remember dad kept calling Patrick Waugh, Patrick Roy. Yeah. I was like, dad, it's Waugh. And he's like, nah, I'm American. That's Roy. He's such a prick, man. All righty, that wraps up another episode of New Heights. Reminder, we are dropping The Replacements Film Club presented by Reese's Pumpkins, the best kind of Reese's, if you know, you know, on Friday with Keanu Reeves.

1:49:14Did you take any actual hits or was this mostly like body doubles and things? No. They were like, what? A couple of like when we would run plays at full speed. Yeah. You know, they would come in and basically they were all like, don't hit the guy for the reason that we're all have a job. Yeah, exactly. That's a good reason. I mean, that's very much like the NFL. It's very much like if you touch Pat Mahomes in practice. That's exactly what it is in practice. You are fucking. You're probably talking yourself right out of this fucking, yeah. Don't hit the guy who's helping us get paid. That's right.
1:49:53That's how it works. Golden rule, baby. I think you were one of the most convincing film quarterbacks of all time. And that's one of my favorite movies to watch. Is it true that the Ravens wanted to give you a tryout after this? That's absolutely nonsense.
1:50:10i don't know my release would have obviously been lefty was like a i don't know why but we tend to have a lower release okay and i might my getting that ball was a little slow but i could hit like i mean it wasn't this on a rope but like yeah we do like 50 yard corner i could you know I could hit like all the fruits. Hey, man. Oh, you're an athlete. That's a hell of a throw right there. You said five steps, then long seven and go. But, you know, don't start believing you can really do it. Well, listen, I don't know if you saw those 2 ,000 Ravens, but you didn't need to be that good. I think the opposing teams averaged like 11 points a game or something like that.
1:50:51Not even. I think it was nine. Yeah.
