0:00You're listening to Newsweek Radio. Irreverent news talk and opinion without agenda. From the 72nd floor of One World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan. This is Newsweek Radio with your host, Jesse Edwards. Today's top trending headlines at Newsweek.com. Links are in the descriptions depending on where you're listening. Snoop Dogg criticizes LGBTQ plus plots in kids' movies, putting it everywhere. The rapper spoke of how an LGBTQ plus theme left his grandson asking questions he couldn't quite answer. Lightyear, released in 2022, was Disney's first animated feature to depict a same-sex kiss and portray a couple of the same gender raising a child.

0:39These scenes sparked backlash among conservative commentators and led to the film actually being banned in several countries. Speaking on the It's Giving podcast, Snoop recounted taking his grandson to see Disney's light year and being caught off guard by the child's questions about same-sex couples in the storyline. They're putting it everywhere. So we're watching it, and the lady, which is Kiki's mama, they move on into the space years. They move down the line. They're like, man, she had a baby with a woman. My grandson, in the middle of the movie, like, Papa Snoop, how'd she have a baby with a woman?

1:09She a woman. Oh, shit. I didn't come in for this shit. I just came and watched the goddamn movie. Hey, man, watch the movie. Uh-uh. They just said she and she had a baby. They both women's. How does she have a baby? Shh. So it's like, fuck me. I'm scared to go to the movies now. Like, y 'all throwing me in the middle of shit that I don't have an answer for. What part of the movie was this? These are kids that we have to show that at this age. Like, they're going to ask questions. Yeah. They're gonna ask, I don't have the answer. Well, Snoop D-O-double-G has stepped in it now. Yes, he's crossed that invisible woke line, and he's upset the far left by daring to push back against their radical sexual agenda, which is what this is to a lot of us.

1:53Now, give me a minute, I'll explain. But I'm sure that Snoop is being uninvited to all sorts of Hollywood parties and acting gigs as we speak, all because he had an honest human reaction to something that doesn't align with his worldview. view. And now, the very people who claim tolerance at all costs will try to crucify him in a court of public opinion and toss him into the ash heap of history for daring to be offended by a hypersexual agenda. Look, here's the truth. The LGBTQIA plus crowd already got everything they could possibly want from Western civilization. Because most of us could care less about who you choose to sleep with.

2:26And we're not offended if a man decides to become a woman, or if a woman decides to become a man, or if Dave in accounting suddenly finds it irresistible to wear a dress with pants on his head. We just don't care. As long as you can do the job without being an asshole or hurting anybody, you do you and I'll do me. And in that sense, I think America is fundamentally a libertarian nation, even though it identifies as polarized and extremely partisan. But it just wasn't enough because it couldn't just be about celebrating your sexuality. It had to be about forcing everybody else to celebrate it too, didn't it?

2:57And that is the line that most of us are not willing to cross. You want to center your entire life around your sexual preferences? That's fine. Live your life, have your parade. But when you start to demand that all of society cheer for you, you're mistaking personal freedom for main character syndrome. And that goes for companies like Disney too, because they know damn well that their base audience is just parents who want to have something safe and fun that doesn't turn into an unexpected indoctrination about the most complex aspects of human sexuality known to mankind. Sorry, it's person kind, right?

3:27Most of us just don't want our kids exposed to that in a cartoon. Disney insists on doing it anyway because they think representation is more important than representing the parents, I guess. But that's totally fine. Disney can do however Disney sees fit. But by the same standard, Snoop Dogg, myself, and every other human being has the right to say, no thank you. Now let's skip down to the comments section of this Newsweek article. One user writes, quote, Why is it okay to show heterosexual relationships in all kids' movies? Should there be no relationships shown? There are both LGBTQ and straight people in the world.

3:58Seeing a gay character in a movie is not going to make you gay just as all the straight indoctrination society puts on us does not make gay people straight. And that's totally fine. This person has a completely valid point, but they're missing half of the argument. It's totally normal to push for normalization of your cause. But if you don't respect the nuance and boundaries this country still has for modesty and tradition, then you really don't understand the dynamics well enough to call yourself an activist. And you're shooting yourself on the foot for being intolerant of otherwise tolerant people who no longer want to see your movie because you wanted to prove a point instead of just being entertaining.

4:31The writer in the comments section here continues, quote, An irony I can't help but think of is how black people were excluded from all films or relegated to the role of servant for many years, dot dot dot. I'm guessing the same sort of people who now don't want to see LGBTQ didn't want to see them, dot dot dot, snoop, unquote. Well, wait a minute, that seems like a very problematic statement coming from such an empathetic progressive. I mean, comparing the generational pain and suffering of African Americans to audiences not embracing an on-screen kiss between two members of the same sex is rather ignorant, I must say.

5:03I know I'm offended by it. So let's not compare centuries of violence and oppression with audiences who don't want their six-year-old asking questions about sexuality in the middle of a Toy Story spinoff. Look, the first erotic kiss between people of the same sex was Cecil B. DeMille's Manslaughter in 1922. What you're doing isn't new and it's not revolutionary. And it's not about you, it's about us. And we've told you plainly that we don't want sexual agendas pushed into films made for kids. But you keep doing it anyway. And then you stand back and wonder why regular folks turn to horrible people like Donald Trump, even when they don't particularly like him.

5:39The sad part is, this is exactly how liberalism has been lost in America. Liberalism used to mean finding common ground and creating space for different ways of life and letting everybody co-exist in relative peace. But the far left has abandoned that tradition. As they escalate the culture war, instead of trying to defuse it, they keep choosing to provoke rather than persuade. And now instead of building bridges, they're burning them all down and calling it progress. Your agenda is less popular than Donald effing Trump, and if that doesn't tell you something, then nothing ever will. You might just be too far gone for any reasonable or balanced discourse, and I blame you for the division in this country because you were supposed to be the educated grown-ups.

6:19But instead, the left stooped to the level of the right, and the right stooped to the level of the left, and we keep trading blows and knocking each other down a notch so often that we've hit rock bottom and we don't know where to go from here. Case in point, the next headline in Newsweek, Gavin Newsom is being embraced by some on the far right. How is that possible? The slick Hollywood hair governor of California suddenly has cheerleaders among Nick Fuentes and his merry band of groipers? Never heard of that. Yes, Nick Fuentes, our favorite Mexican white supremacist. Look, I'm all for colorblind race relations, but when a guy builds his whole identity around race and it's not even the race for his own narrative, I think that makes him fair game for open ridicule.

7:02The groipers, of course, are Fuentes' crew of alt-right trolls and white nationalists, built on a foundation of anti-Semitism, misogyny, and internet age grievance. Look, as a never-Trump conservative myself, even I see the appeal of Gavin Newsom. First of all, he seems like a relatively normal person, albeit kind of a preppy, but a bit of a fast-talking, slick-hair car salesman. Not necessarily always a bad thing, especially when compared to Agent Orange. Politicians are always lying to us, so I think the least we could expect is somebody who can lie to us well enough to convince us that he's telling the truth.

7:34Yes, Gavin Newsom could easily become the next commander-in-chief, assuming he doesn't screw the pooch between now and then. Figuratively speaking, of course. You know, that's assuming Donald Trump doesn't go to war with Venezuela just to extend the expiration date of his administration. What are the Democrats really going to do at that point? Take to the streets and bark at people who aren't listening? Let's hope that's not the case, but this is the Democrats' war to lose. Go ahead and double down on woke and see what happens. You'll wake up to J.D. Vance being the next president, God forbid.

8:00At this point, it's anybody but Trump. Let's get this over with already. Next headline in Newsweek, MAGA reacts to Ghislaine Maxwell's Trump comments. Trump supporters have cheered the comments made by Jeffrey Epstein's imprisoned former girlfriend, Ghislaine Maxwell, in interviews with the Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche. They shared sections from Maxwell's testimony, where she says that she never saw Trump engaged in any form of sexual behavior. Maxwell is serving a 20-year sentence after being convicted of luring girls to be abused by Epstein and is wanting a pardon from Trump. Look, I've decided I'm not going to play any of her audio here.

8:33One, because the audio quality itself sucks. 2. Because it's boring as hell. 3. Because you can go find it yourself. 4. Because a lot of other people have gone through it and there's not a lot of there there. 5. Because I don't want to give a platform to this convicted sex offender and child trafficker. 6. Because she's not a credible witness. 7. Because of the quid pro quo implications and conflict of interest surrounding the incentive for Trump to give her special treatment based on her testimony. 8. Because she was absolutely all over the place and changes her statements so often that I'm convinced she was intentionally contradicting herself just to muddy the water.

9:05and nine, that any brothel madam worth her salt wouldn't give up her clients no matter what. So there's that. She says there's no client list. Well, then why the hell are you in prison, Ghislaine? I'm not even disturbed that she doesn't implicate Trump. I'm creeped the hell out that she doesn't implicate anyone in this, what, six hour plus testimony. That tells me everything I need to know. And if you're dense enough to believe that this interview she gave was anything short of absolute horse crap, then you should probably go to the emergency room right now for being absolutely full of horse crap yourself, I can't for the life of me think of who Trump and company think this stunt would have worked for.

9:43I mean, I can only assume that Joe Rogan isn't buying it, and I can only guess that Alex Jones isn't buying it either. Do you think this was enough to satisfy guys like Representative Thomas Massey? I mean, I highly doubt it. I doubt it so much that I'm not even going to check. The one thing I will comment on from the tapes themselves is how Ghislaine and her interrogators conveniently took breaks from recording just before they talked about anything the public was interested in, like Donald Trump or Bill Clinton. She sounded coached, and she sounded like she was protecting very powerful men at any cost.

10:13She could have thrown us a bone and given up at least somebody. And the fact that she gave up nobody should be enough for anyone who's paying attention to shudder in disgust at just how far somebody's willing to take this. A network of pedophiles so strong and connected that not even one name has yet to be confirmed by the person who would know better than anyone other than Jeffrey Epstein himself. That should scare the hell out of you. It scares the hell out of me, because apparently this is big enough to transcend politics. If it's protecting people like Bill Clinton and Donald Trump and Prince Andrew and who knows who else.

10:44I'm really starting to doubt if we're ever going to know the truth about this, because whomever is behind this is doing a pretty damn good job at keeping the details on ice. And I don't mean immigration and customs enforcement. And until we can do it again, it's Newsweek Radio. I'm Jesse Edwards. Catch you next time. Bye. And we say bye-bye.
