In short

The hosts discuss a Newsweek headline about J.D. Vance’s UFO comments, then pivot into a broader, satirical debate on UFOs/aliens and what they might be. The episode also mocks political proposals for $3,000 direct payments funded by a billionaire wealth tax.

Guest backgrounds

No guests appear. The episode references conservative podcaster Benny Johnson (who interviewed Vance) and comedian Bill Maher (quoted), but neither is present as a guest.

Key claims

Vance says he’s “obsessed” with UFO files and will “get to the bottom” of them; he adds, “I don’t think they’re aliens. I think they’re demons.” The host argues UFOs may be real and cites USS Nimitz “gimbal” footage as partial disclosure.

Notable examples

Area 51/New Mexico trips; USS Nimitz gimbal footage; the host’s alleged driveway encounter (orange hot light, low hum); Project Blue Beam; interdimensional/parallel-universe theory.

0:00Irreverent news talk, opinion, satire. It's Newsweek Radio. I'm Jesse Edwards. Top trending headlines at Newsweek.com. Plan for$3 ,000 direct payments to American Gits Boost. Here's a list of sponsors. Well, we're not going to get to the list of sponsors, but we'll talk about the article. Yeah, I think you're missing a few zeros in that number there, buddy. Because the government owes every single one of us who have been fighting on the front lines of the workforce for the last 30 years more like$300 ,000 or$400 ,000. and that's without interest. For the loss of generational wealth by the devaluation of the dollar, rampant inflation, overtaxation, and a military-industrial complex that does whatever it wants, regardless of who our president is.

0:37A proposal that would send$3 ,000 direct payments to millions of Americans is gaining new momentum in Congress as additional lawmakers have formally signed on as co-sponsors in both the House and the Senate. The plan is part of the Make Billionaires Pay Their Fair Share Act, a sweeping progressive package that would fund direct cash payments through a new annual wealth tax on billionaires. At the moment, no Republicans have sponsored the effort. Big surprise there. This is feeling more and more like politicians flat out buying our votes now on both sides of the aisle. I mean, sure, I'll take your check.

1:09As long as it's good to cash, it's just my money anyway, right? $3 ,000 every month for the rest of our lives might be something to raise an eyebrow over. This is how the Democrats plan to lead when and they inevitably take over the White House and likely even more in 2028? If this is what democracy looks like, we're in a lot of trouble, folks. Tell me what democracy looks like! This is what democracy looks like! I know going after the billionaires is a fantasy that many of you like to indulge in frequently, but it doesn't even begin to correct the root of the problems, and we need to upgrade to a new operating system that brings our representative government up to date, not just to the year 2026, but a new system of government that's built by, of, and for the people who no longer need the Pony Express to carry our physical votes to Washington anymore.

1:53We sit around and wonder why representative government keeps falling flat on its face every time we need it to work for us, when the system we're using was designed in the late 1700s. Designed by brilliant men, I'm sure. But that was 250 years ago. And the world has made just a few giant leaps in tech since then that need to be taken into account if they are to have any real meaning for society at all. What good is our modern tech if not for direct democracy? With guardrails, of course. Even an official simulation would be a good start at this point. Imagine a fantasy football type of situation for a new way of running government that cuts out the middleman and allows vetted citizens to call the shots as representatives of themselves.

2:37I know, it's a pipe dream, but if you think that's a doozy, hold on to your seats. Next headline at Newsweek, J.D. Vance reveals what he thinks UFOs are. Oh boy. Of course he did, because nobody cares what J.D. Vance thinks. So I'm guessing we're about to hear a lot more of him chiming in on all sorts of topics as he prepares for his future role as a podcast host once Trump inevitably gives the nomination to Rubio instead because J.D. lacks the courage to directly challenge Trump, which is the one and only thing that would make him interesting enough to vote for. He discussed his views on UFOs in a new interview with conservative podcaster Benny Johnson on Friday.

3:11Take a listen. I was obsessed with the UFO files. and then you start getting really busy worrying about the economy and national security and things like that. But I've still got three more years as vice president. I will get to the bottom of the UFO files. Okay, have you stabbed your peaked? Have you done a peek? What is with that laugh, dude? That's not normal. He just started laughing out of nowhere after he gave a somewhat normal, albeit boring answer. Listen to that again. I will get to the bottom of the UFO files. Okay, have you stabbed your peaked? Have you done a peek? I don't know. Maybe it's just really funny to him.

3:39And why wouldn't it be to a guy like this? He's got a lot of other things on his plate, like kissing Donald Trump's feet. I know, it's disgusting. Continue. Have I what? Have you done a peek? Have you like, you know? So I actually haven't. I have not. The full Independence Day? I have not been able to spend enough time on this to really understand it, but I am going to. Trust me, I'm obsessed with this. I've already had a couple of times where I'm like, all right, we're going to Area 51. We're going out to New Mexico. We're going to sort of get to the bottom of this. And then the timing of the trip just didn't work out.

4:10But trust me, anybody who's curious about this, I'm more curious than anybody. And I've got three years of the very tippy top of the classification. I'm going to get to the bottom of it. I mean, if he's such a UFO buff, I don't know why he finds the need to laugh at this hysterically. I will get to the bottom of the UFO files. Have you peeked? Have you done a peek? I mean, but whatever. He's uncomfortable. It's an uncomfortable topic, especially for a politician, because there's just no good way to talk about the subject without alienating, pardon the pun, yourself from half the population that either believe or the other half of us that thinks we're a bunch of weirdos.

4:43Still, it's a reasonable response, even if it was incredibly cringe and boring as sin. That is until our vice president followed up with this little statement to say about it. Listen. I don't think they're aliens. I think they're demons anyway, but that's a longer discussion. This message is brought to you by ColoGuard. We've all forgotten something important before. Your keys, your phone, maybe even one birthday you definitely meant to remember. Life always has a way of filling up the to-do list. And for many adults, colon cancer screening keeps getting pushed to the bottom. That's why health insurers and systems are working to close the colorectal cancer screening care gap by mailing out Cologuard kits, helping more people stay up to date.

5:23The Cologuard test is a non-invasive option that requires no special prep or time off. It's that simple. The Cologuard test helps remove barriers that keep people from getting screened. If you're 45 or older and at average risk, ask your doctor about the Cologuard test. Available by prescription only. Learn more or request a prescription at Cologuard.com slash Newsweek. Do not use the Cologuard products if you have had adenomas, which are a type of colon polyp that can sometimes become cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, or any other hereditary syndromes, a personal or first-degree family history of colorectal cancer, or a positive result from another colon cancer screening method within that test's recommended screening interval.

6:00Cologuard results should be interpreted with caution. A positive test result does not confirm the presence of cancer. Patients with a positive test result should be referred for colonoscopy. A negative test result does not confirm the absence of cancer. Patients with a negative test result should discuss with their doctor when they need to be tested again. False positives and false negative results can occur. I'm sorry, do you mind repeating that for the audience, Mr. Vice President? I just want to be sure that everybody in the audience heard what you just said. I don't think they're aliens. I think they're demons anyway, but that's a long discussion.

6:28I usually don't talk about these kinds of things on Newsweek Radio, but sometimes it happens. But I'm bored to tears with actual politics today, and this boob just brought it up in conversation that he thinks the alien UFO UAP phenomenon that people have been experiencing since the beginning of recorded history can be logically explained by labeling it as demonic. I don't think they're aliens. I think they're demons anyway, but that's a longer discussion. He's right that this is a much larger discussion to be had, and I'm certainly not the one to have it with our vice president. I just don't think enough of us realize the weight of the absurdity in this moment compared to everything else that's happening in the world today.

7:04Largely thanks to this man's boss, who he wants compared to Hitler. Trump is a really bad candidate, and frankly, I think a really bad person. I mean, maybe J.D. Vance is right for all we know. Is he telling us something he knows that we don't? Not quite. I will try to explain myself here in a minute. Bill Maher was right this past Friday when he said that at this point, if you don't believe that UFOs and aliens, for lack of a better term, are real, then you're actually the conspiracy theorist these days. Given the increasing number in recent years of sightings by serious military personnel of unknown aircraft operating outside our current abilities, if at this point you don't believe aliens are here and observing us, maybe you're the conspiracy theorist.

7:47I've seen more than enough firsthand to know it for myself. I did an entire episode on it a while back. As a Matter of fact, I'll put the link to that episode in the description of today's podcast if you want to hear me tell that story. You know of the time that one of these things came up my driveway like a car with headlights only to fill my room with a low hum that I could feel in my chest, not in my ears, and an orange hot light that filled the room like a fine mist. Now, to be fair, this thing did scare me to the point where you can bet your ass I was saying a prayer. And to this day, I think that's probably what made it go away.

8:17Which you would think might cause me to reconsider the possibility that J.D. Vance is putting forward here that aliens are actually demons. I don't think they're aliens. I think they're demons anyway. Even if you're not on board yet with the reality that UFOs do exist, you should at least know about some of the leading ideas of what these things might actually be. Since we're largely being kept in the dark of what's happening, one could also argue that we've already had basic full disclosure from our own government with the gimbal footage from the USS Nimitz that was released to the public over 10 years ago now.

8:47The same footage being repeatedly repurposed to create the new documentaries out there every year. They're comprised of the same old footage and the same old politicians and the same exact UFO experts every single time, but we take what we can get. The truth, however, is often stranger than fiction, so buckle up your seatbelt and put on your imagination caps for just a minute because we're about to leave the entire planet for just a minute. You still have an imagination, right? You remember that thing we used to play with back in the 80s before the black rectangles of death took over our lives?

9:18Stay with me here. So first, let's get the non-believers out of the way. These are the people who are never going to believe. Even if a UFO lands on the White House lawn, the next group would believe it and become pretty quick converts. Some would think that it was a hologram created by the government to control the masses known as Project Blue Beam. Then you have regular good old-fashioned folks with an open mind who believe that it's aliens from other planets who must be somewhat friendly because they haven't descended from the skies doing slave humanity or mine gold for their ships or anything weird like that.

9:50I mean, at least not since the Anunnaki ruled ancient Samaria some 450 ,000 years ago. That would almost be easy to explain to the common masses compared to where things go next. This is where my belief system has decided to park it for the time being. I'm not married to it, but it's starting to make a lot of sense that UFOs and aliens are not from other planets because that doesn't make any sense when it comes to physics and the confines of how slow the speed of light is compared to the vast emptiness of space. What we're really talking about here are interdimensional beings that live in a parallel universe that has lived alongside us humans since the beginning of time, possibly even longer if you know how to picture time as a Mobius strip, which explains how the pyramids were actually built in the future, not the past.

10:37Yeah, that one always fries people's noodle. Oh, what? I'm sorry, does that sound completely nuts? Well, then take your damn imagination cap off, silly, and go back to your regular scheduled programming where the Vice President of the United States of America just suggested that they're demons. I don't think they're aliens. I think they're demons anyway, but that's a longer discussion. They're not demons because the next world is not heaven or hell. It's a place so much incredibly more than that. And we're halfway there already. And sometimes when we dream, we get even closer. It's far more complicated than space aliens.

11:11Or demons. This has more to do with consciousness itself than anything else, which is what makes it damn near impossible for our government to try to explain to regular people. Can you blame them? You might sound like a crazy person. But hey, look, J.D. Vance was right about one thing. This topic is for a much longer conversation. Not with J.D., of course. I'll get somebody far more interesting to talk to. That's it for today, and until we can do it again, it's Newsweek Radio. I'm Jesse Edwards. Catch you next time. Bye. Are aliens real? They're real, but I haven't seen them. Newsweek Radio is a member of the Trust Project.

11:42Tell me what democracy looks like! I don't think they're aliens. I think they're demons anyway, but that's a longer discussion.

JD Vance says UFOs might be demons while Washington dangles $3K checks like we’ll forget everything else. We get into both and why the real story is way stranger than either side wants to admit.
