In short
The episode argues that Melania Trump’s sudden public press conference is a major new development in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal. Host Jesse Edwards claims Melania “betrayed” Donald Trump by distancing herself from Epstein and Maxwell while not clearing Trump’s name, contradicting Trump’s assertion that the Epstein story is a “Democrat hoax.”
Key claims
Melania said her name never appeared in court documents/FBI interviews; she denied being on Epstein’s plane or visiting his island; she used “I am” language and “Donald” as if filing paperwork; she expanded the “blast radius” by saying Epstein “was not alone.”
Notable examples
references to a new book, Entitled, quoting Epstein allegedly saying he had sex with Melania a year before Trump met her; mentions of political figures reacting (Alex Jones divorce, Tucker Carlson/Megyn Kelly departures).

Donald and I were invited to the same parties as Epstein from time to time, since overlapping in social circles is common in New York City and Palm Beach.
0:46Irreverent news, talk, opinion, satire. It's Newsweek Radio. I'm Jesse Edwards. And this unprompted press conference from Melania Trump out of absolutely nowhere is easily the biggest development in the entirety of the Epstein scandal so far. And a lot of us feel like the biggest bombs have yet to drop in this department. To be clear, I never had a relationship with Epstein or his accomplice, Maxwell. And from my perspective, yes, this was an absolute betrayal of Donald Trump by the First Lady. And I genuinely fear for her safety now, knowing what we know about what powerful people will do to keep this story buried.
1:23Now is the time for Congress to act. Epstein was not alone. This is a Democrat hoax that never ends. She went public without telling Trump or anybody else first. Trump himself saying that he was blindsided is the crack in the foundation here. At this level, nothing sensitive is supposed to be freelanced, but that's what she did. She revived Epstein when nobody was talking about it. And yes, it's funny, the internet is blowing up saying that the Iran war is going so bad that Trump sent Melania out as a distraction. I don't think they're that diabolically stupid. but I don't know, maybe they are.
1:59But the Epstein story had cooled off considerably. Between Iran and the economy and everything else in the spotlight, she pulled it back into the center all by herself. Why? I think the most interesting detail is that she defended herself here. Not the marriage, not Donald Trump, just her. It was wall-to-wall I statements about her, nothing about we, nothing about her and Trump. And that is extremely intentional. I'm not a witness or a name witness. in connection with any of Epstein's crimes. No shared denial, no umbrella, just a tight circle around her name. My name has never appeared in court documents, depositions, victim statements, or FBI interviews surrounding the Epstein matter.
2:47And she used the word Donald like she was filing paperwork. Donald and I were invited to the same parties as Epstein from time to time. No warmth, no unity, no factual placement, just distance, not partnership. And that's incredibly important here. Whoever wrote this speech for Melania deliberately did not clear Donald Trump's name. And that is the knife in the back. I have never had any knowledge of Epstein abuse of his victims. She cleared herself in every possible way. I was never involved in any capacity. But she never extends that clarity to him. I was not a participant, was never on Epstein's plane, and never visited his private island.
3:32Which is probably the biggest news story of the year, in my opinion. She made the separation public, not private. This wasn't a quiet legal move. This was a White House microphone on stage. She blew up the story instead of shrinking it. Saying that Epstein didn't do this alone doesn't calm anything down. It expands the blast radius. Epstein was not alone. She took the moral high ground and left Donald Trump in the fog. I have never been legally accused or convinced of a crime. Clearly, she means convicted here. Convinced of a crime. I don't know, maybe it's English as a 14th language after she said those images were calculating on social media too.
4:10Which she clearly meant circulating, whatever. Fake images and statements about Epstein and me have been calculating on social media. She's clean, she's clear and insulated, but he's not even addressed. And that is the imbalance in this story. What was not said at her impromptu presser. That came out of nowhere that nobody had any idea about, including the commander-in-chief. I have never been legally accused or convinced of a crime in connection with Epstein sex trafficking, abuse of minors, and other repulsive behavior. This is precisely how high-end betrayal actually looks. Not the Hollywood version of yelling or accusations or a big scene.
4:52Just a very clear message that I'm not a part of this, but, you know, my husband might be. The false smears about me from mean-spirited and politically motivated individuals and entities looking to cause damage to my good name to gain financially and climb politically must stop. Just incredible. What does she know that we don't yet? I can't wait to find out. What a week at the White House. Are you still talking about Jeffrey Epstein? This guy's been talked about for years. Are people still talking about this guy, this creep? That is unbelievable. Melani does this bizarro press conference that nobody asked for, directly contradicting Trump's statements that this is all a big Democrat hoax.
5:36This is a Democrat hoax that never ends. So Trump turns around and publicly divorces Alex Jones. Tucker Carlson and Megyn Kelly, and even Tim Poole has announced that he's out, which is pretty funny considering that tool was bad-mouthing me just a couple months back because I said this would happen. I said a lot of this would happen over the past year or two on Newsweek Radio. I predicted that Marjorie Taylor Greene was going to turn. I predicted that Tucker Carlson was going to turn. I even predicted that Melania Trump might even turn. And look, it seems to be coming true. Now is the time for Congress to act.
6:08Epstein was not alone. They want to talk about the Epstein hooks. And the sad part is it's people that are really doing the Democrats' work. They're stupid people. Good enough for me, anyway. This message is brought to you by Cologuard. We've all forgotten something important before. Your keys, your phone, maybe even one birthday you definitely meant to remember. Life always has a way of filling up the to-do list. And for many adults, colon cancer screening keeps getting pushed to the bottom. That's why health insurers and systems are working to close the colorectal cancer screening care gap by mailing out Cologuard kits, helping more people stay up to date.
6:42The Coligard test is a non-invasive option that requires no special prep or time off. It's that simple. The Coligard test helps remove barriers that keep people from getting screened. If you're 45 or older and at average risk, ask your doctor about the Coligard test. Available by prescription only. Learn more or request a prescription at coligard.com slash newsweek. Do not use the Coligard products if you have had adenomas, which are a type of colon polyp that can sometimes become cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, or any other hereditary syndromes. a personal or first-degree family history of colorectal cancer, or a positive result from another colon cancer screening method within that test's recommended screening interval.
7:19Colocard results should be interpreted with caution. A positive test result does not confirm the presence of cancer. Patients with a positive test result should be referred for colonoscopy. A negative test result does not confirm the absence of cancer. Patients with a negative test result should discuss with their doctor when they need to be tested again. False positives and false negative results can occur. But the timing of Melania turning on Trump here is fascinating. A new book was just published the other day called Entitled, The Rise and Fall of the House of York, and it contains a passage in which Epstein is quoted saying that he had sex with Melania a full year before Donald Trump met her.
7:52Is that why she did this? I just can't get over how she made this all about distancing herself from this mess with zero effort to clear Trump's name from it. This wasn't Melania Trump defending Donald Trump. This was Melania Trump salvaging Melania Trump in public without warning him. That's about as close to upper-class political betrayal as you're ever going to get without divorce papers. And don't be surprised if that happens soon. We all know how Donald Trump handles betrayal not well. I think it's time now for the country to maybe get onto something else. By appearing alone from the White House in a rare and highly unusual event, she turned her self-defense into a national spectacle.
8:31She says she wasn't involved. She says she was not his victim. Never on the plane or the island. But she never says that Donald had nothing to do with anything, does she? In elite betrayal language, that is the knife in the back. She just left his name outside of the perimeter on purpose. Not my husband all the way through. Not the warm and united front routine. She toggles to Donald in the factual parts, which reads less like a spouse circling the wagons and more like somebody entering a statement into the record. That's cold. That's calculated distance. Or circulated distance, as Melania would call it.
9:03Fake images have been calculating on social media. If this is what it looks like, then I take back what I said about Melania on yesterday's show by calling her a bembo, because this took a lot of bravery and courage to turn on Trump like this publicly. So props to the First Lady, down with Donald Trump, never Trump for life. I told you this was going to happen, and we're out of time for today. So until we can do it again, it's Newsweek Radio. I'm Jesse Edwards. Catch you next time. Bye. And we say bye-bye. Newsweek Radio is a member of the Trust Project. You're screwed, buddy. Now is the time for Congress to act.
9:35Epstein was not alone. They want to talk about the Epstein hooks. And the sad part is it's people that are really doing the Democrats' work. They're stupid people.
From the publisher
Melania drops a surprise Epstein statement and flips the board. It’s not what she said, it’s what she didn’t say. She clears herself and leaves Trump out of it, and he admits he was blindsided. Not unity. This was a public extraction, and the fallout is just getting started.
