0:00A reverent news talk and opinion without agenda. It's Newsweek Radio. I'm Jesse Edwards. Sometimes just a little bit of satire thrown into the mix for good measure. But today marks a major milestone in my career. Because today we announced that the Josh Hammer Show here at Newsweek is joining the Salem Podcast Network, which is going to bring his voice to more people than ever before. While I realize that might not sound like a lot at first glance to an outsider or a casual listener, I can promise you that it's been my life's work for the past, I don't know, four years now. And it feels incredibly satisfying in a lot of ways.

0:33But if I'm being totally honest, the delayed gratification is somewhat annoying because when you can see something before anybody else can, it takes a lot of work sometimes to share that vision and get people to act on it. But thankfully, I worked with some of the best people in the business and they all quickly started to see the inevitability of the Josh Hammer show quickly rising to the top of conservative talk. And if you haven't listened to his show, I recommend that you do. but be warned, it's not for the faint of heart or sensitive lefties who are easily offended. Now, I see Josh, first and foremost, as an incredible linguist and orator.

1:06Before all the politics, before his opinions, what I'm really looking for in great talkers is the ability to speak with conviction and authority without hesitation. It's the hardest thing to find, even among the most confident and competent people who talk for a living, but Josh definitely has it. So a big thank you to everyone from both Newsweek and Salem who made this happen. So be sure to watch out for the Josh Hammer Show coming to you in video every day on YouTube. But anyway, that's enough inside baseball for today. Here's today's top trending headlines at Newsweek. Republicans have changed their minds on Ukraine.

1:39A recent poll found more Republican voters than Democrats support arming Ukraine and sanctioning Russia as surveys show growing GOP support for Ukraine amid President Donald Trump's stepping up of criticism of Vladimir Putin. On one hand, I do wish to congratulate the conservatives for coming around to the right side of history on this one. It's just unfortunate that the president had to run his own research and development on Putin to realize what the rest of the free world already knew from the beginning, that Putin is a two-bit, third-world, murdering KGB thug who can't be trusted for any reason.

2:09Which might explain why Trump had such a man crush on the dude for so long. It's always sad to witness such unreciprocated love. Trump's everybody's best friend until he's not, because he's just like the kid who steals your favorite baseball card and then gets mad at you about it. Which is only more painful for me, because I'm on the conservative side of the libertarian spectrum, mostly for my blind devotion to the Second Amendment. But, you know, conservatives think I'm a liberal nutjob because I support gay marriage, and liberals think I'm a right-wing nutjob, mostly because I've worked with most of the right-wing nutjobs on talk radio.

2:40As a libertarian, I can say that right-wingers are generally more open to letting me be who I am more so than the left. At least when it comes to the smarter ones, the Walmart variety don't seem to understand no matter what I tell them. Yeah, when they find out that I work at Newsweek, they don't want anything to do with me. But if I tell them that I work with Josh Hammer over at Salem, they're all ears. It's the funniest thing. Yeah, Newsweek is a decidedly liberal organization, but yes, they also produce and promote Josh Hammer, a decidedly proud right winger who knows exactly what to say to get people's attention when he's talking.

3:10And if I haven't scrambled your brain with that information, then congratulations, you're doing better than half the population when it comes to your political maturity level. Because political maturity means not being offended by outrageous opinions. It also means letting people say stupid things and not letting that have any power over you. And it also means supporting voices that you do not agree with, which is perhaps the toughest pill to swallow for folks when it comes to free speech. You say you support free speech. All good red-blooded Americans traditionally do that. But what free speech is today and what it was 20 years ago is completely different, and we have yet to adjust accordingly.

3:46I mean, it's bad enough to censor free thought, but it's virtually meaningless to say that you support free speech without actively supporting your opposition's right to practice it. That means the opposite of deplatforming. That means the opposite of cancel culture. That means the opposite of identity politics. And while I'm not naive enough to believe that any of this is going to change overnight, I do think that it's critical that everyone who understands it needs to talk about it, which is exactly why you're hearing me rattle on about it right now. If Republicans are willing to change their minds on Ukraine, perhaps there is some hope, even though it appears that they're just simply following anything that Trump says or does.

4:21At least this one went in the right direction. Wouldn't it be foolish for the liberals to suddenly switch sides in this debate just to spite Trump? Thankfully, I don't see any signs of that happening. I just wanted to make sure that we're all kind of quietly on the same page now over Ukraine. right? Shouldn't that feel like a small win at least? Well, I know why the conservatives are not celebrating because I know at least half of them are still squirming in their seats over this because they still don't like it. And they don't dare speak out against Agent Orange lest they be cast aside as heretics.

4:51I like to think that they're very uncomfortable right now because they should feel uncomfortable for hiding their true feelings about Trump's globalist swamp monster agenda. It's not going to last forever. And I still believe that most everybody will curse Trump's name by the time he hits the dirt. We're already seeing the beginning of the end on that front as people like Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, the pale horse person of the apocalypse war that's brewing inside of the conservative movement, begins to posture herself for what appears to be more than just her own congressional seat again.

5:21Either she's running for Senate or she thinks she might try to run as an independent for the conspiracy vote. And under that scenario, even she knows that she couldn't win, but she would be able to cash in royally on being a royal pain in the ass for the GOP in both 2026 and 2028 by simply milking the Alex Jones factor of the Republican Party for everything that it's worth. She doesn't get to be president, but she becomes the de facto conspiracy queen of the lizard people. And you know who I'm talking about, the flat earthers, the moon landing deniers, your crazy uncle who blames everything on the Jews.

5:57Why don't you go talk about Jewish space lasers? And really, why don't you f*** off? How about that? Yeah, Marjorie Taylor Greene could make a fortune on the merch alone. And I'm guessing that's what she's up to here. I could be wrong, so let's take a little bit of a deeper look. Next headline in Newsweek, Marjorie Taylor Greene's immigration comments spark MAGA backlash. She said that immigrant deportations have gone too far, breaking with the hardline approach of the Trump administration and angering the MAGA base she was once a leading figure in. And wow, I didn't see this escalating so quickly.

6:26This on the heels of her calling out Trump over the Epstein files and slamming the stupid shutdown, which is apparently related. So this means the honeymoon is over, right? Why don't you f*** off? How about that? And I'd just like to remind people that Trump was looking to replace Marjorie Taylor Greene in Congress, and since then, she's had a bit of an attitude, which is understandable as it is entertaining. Another headline, Whoopi Goldberg calls Marjorie Taylor Greene the voice of reason in the shutdown. Clearly, another sign that we are in fact living in the end times, as prophesied in the book of Daniel and Revelation.

6:58No, I think Marjorie Taylor Greene represents ground zero here, the canary in the coal mine, so to speak. So get ready for Republicans to start dropping like flies and distancing themselves from Trump over the next year specifically. Yeah, keep your eye on Ted Cruz. He already flinched over the Kimmel topic. Everybody up until now has been incredibly careful of going against Trump. But it's soon about to be seen as the next new cool thing as Trump mentally and physically collapses in on himself like a dying star before our eyes, just like Joe Biden did. Yeah, stop electing people to the White House over the age of 62.

7:29That way we'll never have anybody over the age of 70 at the wheel when they should be taking a nap or hitting the golf course, enjoying the twilight years as they should be. Next headline, Trump flies to Israel and states that the war is over. No, no, no, no, no, no. The battle is over, Donald, not the war. This is the historic dawn of a new Middle East. This is no different than President George W. Bush standing on the deck of the USS Abraham Lincoln declaring mission accomplished in Iraq when it dragged on for another eight and a half years.

8:02Apples and oranges, I know, I know. It's the same fruit stand, though. Let's get away from Trump for a second. Next headline at Newsweek. Hedge fund billionaire warns U.S. entering civil war.

8:15Hedge fund manager and billionaire Ray Dalio has warned the U.S. may be entering a new kind of civil war amid rising inequality and debt, as well as a breakdown in the global geopolitical order. heck yeah. You might as well celebrate the collapse of society. What else are we going to do about it? You know, there's a reason the band kept playing when the Titanic sank. In an interview with Bloomberg TV, which aired this week, the founder of Bridgewater Associates said that the forces which shape the world are all now being disrupted and that America served as a prime example of this. Of course he can say that.

8:45He's one of them. Quote, we're in wars. There's a financial money war. There's a technology war. There's geopolitical wars and there are military wars. And so we have a civil war of some sort which is developing in the US and elsewhere where there are irreconcilable differences." Well, I'll just go ahead and add to that list and suggest that we are in a spiritual war also, but perhaps that's a bit redundant at this stage, because the differences do feel more irreconcilable than ever. What a shame it is that the very tech that was supposed to open the doors of communication and opportunity have been slammed shut seemingly by design.

9:18How are we supposed to take the power back if nobody can agree on exactly what taking the power back looks like to begin with. I've heard it said many times that the only way out of tough situations like this is to go through them. But I'm starting to believe in another approach of going over it, in a complete reset of what it means to be politically awake without the woke identity politics mind virus that has infected all sides across the political spectrum. It's time to become conscientious objectors in this culture war by opting out of the rage bait that people like Donald Trump require just to breathe the same air as the rest of us.

9:55Don't forget that he's on his way out, and every day that passes is another day closer to the end of Trumpism. And let's make sure that when he's finally gone, we don't keep treating each other like he's still around. Don't forget to check us out over on YouTube. It's at Newsweek Radio. And until we can do it again, it's Newsweek Radio. I'm Jesse Edwards. Catch you next time. Bye. And we say bye bye. Newsweek Radio is a member of the Trust Project.
