In short

Satirical, irreverent discussion of whether J.D. Vance could help remove Donald Trump via the 25th Amendment (Section 4), arguing it’s extremely unlikely and would still require a two-thirds Congressional vote.

Guest backgrounds

No guests are mentioned; the host speaks throughout.

Key claims

Section 4 would transfer power to the VP immediately after a VP+cabinet majority declaration, but Trump could contest and Congress would decide with a two-thirds vote; Vance lacks “courage/integrity,” though the host fantasizes about a best-case scenario with Marco Rubio turning the cabinet against Trump.

Notable examples

The episode lists Trump campaign promises (Mexico-paid wall, mass deportations, draining the swamp, infrastructure plan, debt elimination, cheaper healthcare, drug price cuts, manufacturing, energy dominance, ending Middle East wars) and claims they failed in his second term.

0:29Irreverent news talk, opinion, satire. regulated prediction platforms, trading volume rose as users bet on whether cabinet-level action to declare the president unfit might occur. All right, look, as much as a lot of us would love to see this happen, it's never going to happen. But with that said, let's talk about the 25th amendment for a minute here and break this down so that you don't have any false hope of this actually taking place. As fun as it would be, Section 4 of the 25th amendment to the Constitution specifically is what we're talking about here, so let's cut to the chase. Now, I'm sure that many of you already know this, but it's good to refresh our memories from time to time so we don't begin subscribing to fairy tales and wishful thinking.

1:06Section 4, dealing with involuntary removal of Trump in this scenario, the vice president and a majority of the cabinet can declare the president unable to serve, transferring power to the vice president immediately. The president can fight it, which we know he would, ultimately leaving the decision to a two-thirds vote of Congress, which is precisely where this great hypothetical plot to unseat our unfit-for-command president falls apart completely, at least in this stage of the game. If Trump does something stupid like nuking Iran, this could all change overnight, but it would still require J.D.

1:40Vance to have the courage to move forward, and it's abundantly clear the one thing J.D. Vance lacks is abundance in courage. But just for fun, let's say that J.D. Vance is somehow capable of summoning the last shred of integrity that might be left inside of his soul and suddenly declares that he's had enough of Trump, that this has all been one giant mistake, and that Trump is unfit for the presidency. Would you go along with it? Because I sure as hell would. And I'm no fan of J.D. Vance by any means. He's sold out his principles the very second Donald Trump dangled a carrot in front of his face.

2:11He's been one of the top, if not the biggest enablers of Trump's chaotic bullshit of this second administration. And he repeats Trump's lies with enthusiasm and a smile. But the enemy of my enemy is my friend, and if removal of Trump via the 25th Amendment ever does happen, I would go all in for supporting J.D. Vance for doing the right thing. Again, it's never going to happen. But even pessimists like myself like to daydream about what-if best-case scenarios. And look, I don't doubt for a second that J.D. Vance would pull that trigger if he thought he could get away with it because he's a slimy, opportunistic, sleazebag of a politician just like the rest of them.

2:45But when and if you decide to come at the king, J.D. Vance, you best not miss. I think the vice president knows this better than anybody else on the planet right now, or on the dark side of the moon for that matter. And the only way that J.D. could pull this off is if he had Marco Rubio on board. Because that, that alone just might be enough to turn the entire cabinet against Trump, which would be so goddamn entertaining to watch, it'd be difficult for me to contain my excitement. And the fallout would be exquisite. The sheer poetic justice of Trump's and people turning on him in the most dramatic ways possible would be enough to give American citizens hope in our constitutional republic again and prove that the system actually works against goons like Donald Trump.

3:28And sure, it would not be enough for the far left or the far right because these people simply are never happy with anything. But, you know, if done properly, it could easily unite the moderates on both sides with the silent middle majority for an unstoppable supermajority of the population to rise up and smash extremist ideology of both kinds under our heels before we kick them into the ash heap of history where extremists belong. I know, I know. Just let me fantasize about this for another minute or two because it's about as close as someone like me ever comes to optimism. This message is brought to you by ColoGuard.

4:00We've all forgotten something important before. Your keys, your phone, maybe even one birthday you definitely meant to remember. Life always has a way of filling up the to-do list. And for many adults, colon cancer screening keeps getting pushed to the bottom. That's why health insurers and systems are working to close the colorectal cancer screening care gap by mailing out Cologuard kits, helping more people stay up to date. The Cologuard test is a non-invasive option that requires no special prep or time off. It's that simple. The Cologuard test helps remove barriers that keep people from getting screened.

4:31If you're 45 or older and at average risk, ask your doctor about the Cologuard test. Available by prescription only. Learn more or request a prescription at Cologuard.com slash Newsweek. Newsweek. Do not use the Cologuard products if you have had adenomas, which are a type of colon polyp that can sometimes become cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, or any other hereditary syndromes, a personal or first-degree family history of colorectal cancer, or a positive result from another colon cancer screening method within that test's recommended screening interval. Cologuard results should be interpreted with caution.

5:00A positive test result does not confirm the presence of cancer. Patients with a positive test result should be referred for colonoscopy. A negative test result does not confirm the absence of cancer. Patients with a negative of test results should discuss with their doctor when they need to be tested again. False positives and false negative results can occur. Now, it wouldn't be enough for J.D. Vance to simply turn on what Trump represents now. If he were to successfully dethrone our idiot president and admit that he was wrong for being blinded by the power and prestige that Trump offered him, it just might be the one single thing that could possibly repair our nation from this disaster in the most efficient way possible.

5:37For the love of God, help us, J.D. Vance. You are our only hope. Make Republicans respectable again. We don't need to agree on the issues. We need to agree that Trump represents everything that real conservatism does not. Because the ends have never justified the means with this ass clown of a president. And the means have never produced any measurable ends in Trump's second go around at the White House. At least not for the people who voted for him. Should we go down the list of everything the Trump voters got scammed on? Sure, why not? Yeah, the kids love that. Trump promised a wall paid for by Mexico.

6:10Trump voters got a partially built wall paid for by U.S. taxpayers. He promised mass deportations and a crackdown on illegals. But what they got is a system overwhelmed with policies that shifted but never solved the problem. He promised to drain the swamp and they got a cabinet filled with insiders and lobbyists and loyalists. He promised America first, but delivered trade wars that hit American farmers and consumers with mixed results at best. He promised a massive infrastructure plan. Well, that lasted about a week. Our roads and bridges are still crumbling as Donald Trump does that idiotic dance of his.

6:43Yeah, you know the one I'm talking about. By the way, my wife hates when I do this. She said, it's so unpresidential. She hates when I dance. I said, everybody wants me to dance. Darling, it's not presidential. She actually said, could you imagine FDR dancing? She said that to me. She said, they don't like it. They're just being nice to you. I said, that's not right. The place goes crazy. They're screaming dance. He promised to eliminate the national debt. Instead, he doubled it. He promised better, cheaper health care for everybody. And instead, we got nothing. Medicaid, Medicare, all these individual things.

7:16They can do it on a state basis. You can't do it on a federal. We have to take care of one thing. Military protection. What happened to those$2 ,000 stimulus checks? That's not happening. What about lower drug prices? That's not happening either. We have to take care of one thing. Military protection. He promised to bring back American manufacturing. Have you seen any of that happening yet? Nope. He promised energy dominance and lower gas prices. Have you been to the pumps lately? Oil prices are going to go down very, very rapidly. So is inflation, so is everything else. Never mind promising to end wars in the Middle East.

7:49Our president will start a war with Iran because he has absolutely no ability to negotiate. He's weak and he's ineffective. This incompetent boob ran on a ticket of law and order. Promises of accountability and transparency. Just to turn around and redact everything out of the Epstein files. This is a Democrat hoax. What happened to locking Hillary up? See, I like Bill Clinton. What about the tax cuts that he said would pay for themselves? Or his promises to take on big tech censorship? Or the mindless mountain of promises that we're going to be winning so much that you're going to get tired of winning?

8:23You may even get tired of winning. And you'll say, please, please, it's too much winning. We can't take it anymore. Mr. President, it's too much. And I'll say no it isn't. We have to keep winning. We have to win more. It's all just a giant crock of shit. And strangely enough, half the conservatives out there are still lapping it up. And the left isn't any better. Because they're incapable of holding anyone accountable, let alone a monster like Trump. Real change always comes from within the movement when people get fed up with the lies and corruption that they were sold as a bill of truth and transparency.

8:58And right now, I think it's time to support those conservative voices who are waking up to the fact that Trump is the worst person in American history, let alone the worst president in American history. No, I do not ultimately believe that J.D. Vance has the courage or integrity to dethrone the man-child in the Oval Office, but, and it's a big but, if he does, I would support him 100 % because it would be the best case scenario for the future of our country, our safety, and our livelihoods. And if J.D. Vance can pull it off somehow, it's the only way he could ever earn my vote in 28. Will it happen?

9:31Probably not. But it sure is fun to daydream, isn't it? And oh, hey, would you look at the time? We're out of it. So until we can do it again, it's Newsweek Radio. I'm Jesse Edwards. Catch you next time. Bye. And we say bye-bye. Newsweek Radio is a member of the Trust Project. The entire country could be taken out in one night, and that night might be tomorrow night.
