The episode discusses two news threads: an alleged wildlife harassment case in Maui and a high-stakes Republican primary fight involving Rep. Thomas Massie.
Guest backgrounds
none are named in the transcript; the episode features a politics professor, Calvin Jilson (Southern Methodist University).
Key claims
Igor Mikhailovich of Covington, Washington was filmed May 5 walking Lahaina shoreline, picking up a large rock, and throwing it toward an endangered Hawaiian monk seal, narrowly missing its nose; he faces up to one year in prison plus ESA and Marine Mammal Protection Act fines. His attorney claims he intended to protect turtles and is devastated by the accusation. The second thread frames Massie’s Kentucky primary as the most expensive in U.S. history and a MAGA proxy war over Trump’s influence.

Wow! Yeah, who's his defense attorney? Donald Trump? This guy's life has been ruined for doing something stupid and intentionally evil. According to a criminal complaint, Igor Mikhailovich, Mr. Unpronounceable, we'll call him, of Covington, Washington was filmed on May 5th of 26, walking along the shoreline in Lahaina on the island of Maui following the movements of a Hawaiian monk seal. Mr. Unpronounceable can be seen picking up a large rock, aimed it at the seal and threw it towards his head, narrowly missing the poor thing's nose,
0:56causing the poor thing to jump out of the water. If convicted, Mr. Unpronounceable could face up to one year in prison, two charges of harassing and attempting to harass an endangered Hawaiian monk seal, along with a term of supervised release. He could also be fined up to$50 ,000 under the Endangered Species Act and up to$20 ,000 under the Marine Mammal Protection Act. Yeah, it sounds like Mr. Unpronounceable here is a solid candidate for deportation as well. I mean, I'm not sure of his immigration status, but maybe that's something that ICE is looking into now. Although based on his behavior, I can see how Trump could possibly empathize with this monster.
1:31and, I don't know, give him money for a legal defense or put him in charge of the Department of Fish and Wildlife Service. This guy's got Interior Department written all over him. I wouldn't be surprised if he's already got a job offer from this administration. Another top trending story of Newsweek. Republican Rep. Thomas Massey's primary in Kentucky has become more than a local race. It is now the most expensive House primary in U.S. history and a high-stakes proxy war over the future of the Republican Party. Few Republicans in Congress have aggravated President Donald Trump as much as Massey, who has often criticized his administration.
2:03The president has made a point of seeking to oust Massey, backing his GOP primary challenger. We're in a fight against the worst congressman in the history of our country. His name is Thomas Massey. He's from Kentucky. I hope you're going to put him out of business tomorrow. He is so bad. Massey's the worst congressman in the history of our country, always voting against Republicans and good values. Grab him by the pussy. But while the president still holds sway in influencing primary outcomes, as was evidenced by recent results in Louisiana and Indiana, several figureheads of the MAGA universe, such as Representative Lauren Boebert of Colorado, have nonetheless openly defied the president, putting in peril their political future, if not existence, and backed the embattled Kentucky congressman highlighting the cracks in the movement.
2:51If Massey goes down, especially following the defeat of Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy and several Indiana state senators in recent days and weeks, Trump's influence will be further highlighted and increasingly feared. But if Massey survives, Trump's firm grip on his party might be seen as loosening, and his sinking approval ratings will be cited as cause. That's Calvin Jilson, a politics professor at Southern Methodist University. Yeah, I'd say that sounds about right, but my only pushback is it doesn't look good for Trump either way, because if Massey loses his seat, and it certainly looks possible, he essentially becomes a martyr for the cause.
3:26And all he has to do is start a podcast and join the growing ranks of prominent conservative political and media figures who have turned on Trump. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Alex Jones, Lauren Boebert, Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly, you know, the people who enabled Trump. The guy who would have never seen re-election if it wasn't for their rabid support. Yeah, play the Tucker Daddy stuff. Do we still have that? You remember how crazy Tucker Carlson was for Donald Trump? There has to be a point at which dad comes home. And he's pissed. Dad is pissed. He's not vengeful. He loves his children. Disobedient as they may be, he loves them.
4:10Because they're his children, they live in his house. But he's very disappointed in their behavior. And he's going to have to let them know. He's going to have to get to your room right now. and think about what you did. And when dad gets home, you know what he says? You've been a bad girl. You've been a bad little girl and you're getting a vigorous spanking right now. And no, it's not going to hurt me more than it hurts you. No, it's not. I'm not going to lie. It's going to hurt you a lot more than it hurts me. And you earned this. You're getting a vigorous spanking because you've been a bad girl.
4:55Yeah, it's that easy to forget how crazy the last election cycle was. Unseat Thomas Massey right now, and it just proves everything that he's ever said about Trump is true, which it is. I do wish Thomas Massey all of the best of luck of holding onto his seat in Kentucky. But either way, he's already done us all a tremendous service by keeping Trump's feet to the fire over the Epstein scandal with bravery and enthusiasm and a tirelessness that we rarely see from politicians these days. So for that alone, we owe him a debt of gratitude. Thank you, Congressman Thomas Massey. But we're never going to see any answers over Jeffrey Epstein, are we?
5:32I mean, just look at how effectively they buried that thing. All those bullshit redacted files that did nothing but muddy the water so people would lose sight of the target. It's like nobody's talking about it anymore because the trail has gone cold. Don't tell me these billionaires can't afford the greatest scams and spins and grifts. Then most people are incapable of even imagining, let alone trying to hold these powerful folks accountable for anything. These people are seasoned experts on knowing how to get away with anything they want by doing evil shit in broad daylight as they deny that it's happening in real time.
6:07Then they gaslight you by saying that you're crazy and or stupid for witnessing the crime. and then they fight you in court with every last dime they own to discredit you, defame you, get you fired, unelected, and probably even unalived on occasion when you really cross the line. What, you don't think it's possible? You don't think that billionaires have people whacked on occasion? Come on! Who else could afford to get the job done right the first time without anybody asking questions? That kind of work doesn't come cheap. Just look what the Saudi prince allegedly did to Jamal Khashoggi. I mean, the only reason we learned what was happening that time was because the Saudi embassy was being bugged by the Turks.
6:43You don't think they'd done this many times over to other journalists or people who spoke poorly about the crown prince, do you? No, no. It was just this one time they got caught and they feel bad about it. A lot of people didn't like that gentleman that you're talking about. Whether you like him or didn't like him, things happen. Just go home and stop asking questions. What makes you think this doesn't happen in every other corner of the world, including the United States? It's because they rarely, if ever, get caught for these sorts of things, and even when they do, they can drag it out in court for as long as they want with a small army of high-paid attorneys who say things like, You know, my client only threw the giant rock at the endangered monk seal, because, you know, he thought he was protecting an endangered sea turtle.
7:28That's all.
