Automatic transcript. May contain errors.0:00Irreverent news, talk and opinion, occasional satire in the mix. It's Newsweek Radio. I'm Jesse Edwards. Mr. President, why is running a country in South America America first? Well, I think it is because we want to surround ourselves with good neighbors. We want to surround ourselves with stability. Well, we all knew this was coming, didn't we? Trump invaded Venezuela to distract the world from the Epstein files, but it's not going to work. And neither will his regime change by kidnapping Maduro. Now Trump is threatening to invade Colombia as well. and there's also rumors of invading Cuba, Mexico, and even Greenland.
0:35I'm not even exaggerating to say that for effect. This is the reality we're in now, and it appears that Donald Trump is trying to kick off World War III in our own hemisphere. Yes, Maduro is a bad guy, just like Donald Trump, which is probably why he's been unceremoniously removed by Donald Trump. That, and the fact that Trump is, and always has been, and always will be, a deep state swamp monster of the lowest order. Thankfully, more and more Republicans are waking up to this fact by the day with Marjorie Taylor Greene leading the way, this being her last day in Congress. I've always said since day one of starting this program in June of 2024 that Marjorie Taylor Greene is our canary in the coal mine of the GOP.
1:19I've also said that she's batshit crazy at least a hundred times here on Newsweek Radio since I began talking politics in June of 2024. She's said a lot of stupid things over the years and is absolutely guilty of supporting, enabling, and downright lying on behalf of Donald Trump multiple times, countless times. She's done nothing but spread conspiracy theories and been completely void of anything that could be mistaken for statesmanship. She's been rude, she's been mean, she's been deceitful, even when she didn't need to be. Marjorie Taylor Greene has been a downright nasty person and a blight on anything that could be considered intellectually sound discourse in American politics, which is why it almost pains me to say that despite all of this, I've come to a point where I'm almost willing to forgive all of it just based on her recent interview on Meet the Press alone.
2:15So my pushback here is on the Trump administration that campaigned on Make America Great Again that we thought was putting America first. I want to see domestic policy be the priority that helps Americans afford life after four disastrous years of the Biden administration. I want to see domestic policies that prioritizes jobs and affordable housing for Americans after four disastrous years of the Biden administration. And I want to see domestic priorities that that put Americans first in regards of health care, health insurance costs too much, car insurance, home insurance. And these are issues that matter to Americans.
2:57We don't consider Venezuela our neighborhood. Our neighborhood is right here in the 50 United States, not in the southern hemisphere. Look, I believe in forgiveness. Maybe it's because I was raised in the church or that I've needed forgiveness myself over a handful of things over the course of my life. I know how important it is. And perhaps I'm being just incredibly naive for being tempted to believe anything that a pit viper of a politician like Marjorie Taylor Greene says. But she's absolutely right. Even if she's being deceitful by just telling us what we want to hear, sometimes the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
3:36And if Donald Trump is calling this woman a traitor, and if she is consistently, clearly, and passionately articulating the truth, I can't help but to ask myself if MTG is on the right path here. You know, America first should mean what was promised on the campaign trail in 2024. So my understanding of America first is strictly for the American people, not for the big donors that donate to big politicians, not for the special interests that constantly roam the halls in Washington and not foreign countries that demand their priorities put first over Americans. America first actually means for the American people.
4:17And the American people have been put last consistently decades and decades by both both political parties for far too long. She's right. I mean, congratulations, universe. Marjorie Taylor Greene is suddenly now one of the most sane voices in American politics. This was the promise to the American people that Trump used as his platform. Then he pulled the rug out from underneath his own base just to line his pockets in the pockets of his big business and big oil buddies so they can cash in on all that heavy Venezuelan crude oil. Pulled the rug out from under is just a nice way of saying that he conned them.
4:56The oil is just flowing at a very low level, much lower than even if it was badly run. It should have more income, more oil than what they do. So we're going to have the big oil companies go in. Trump conned the America First crowd into believing that he wasn't just another slimeball politician. And he's only showing his true colors now because he's got nothing to lose. What does Donald Trump care if Republicans lose the midterms? I mean, assuming they lose a bunch of seats and the Democrats move to impeach Trump again, do you really think that he's afraid of that? I mean, assuming just for a second that's the case, Trump is going to be a vegetable before Democrats can get their act together, and even if they could, impeachments have only been symbolic since Clinton.
5:40And Trump has more to fear from his own kind at this point than anything the Democrats are capable of throwing at him. That might not be the case after 2028, assuming the Democrats take back the White House and assuming that Trump is still alive. Many of us are starting to believe that he won't survive 2026 politically or physically between the Epstein files and Kentucky Fried Chicken. Oh, and speaking of Epstein, Marjorie Taylor Greene also talked about that on Meet the Press. take a listen. The Epstein files is is significant and and demanding transparency for that should not lead to the president who I helped get elected and supported far more than pretty much any Republican in Washington.
6:19It should not have led to him calling me a traitor. That is that is absolutely unacceptable. And the American people reject it. But here's what should be prior to prioritized is is victims and victims of an entire system that protected the rich powerful elites. And that's what Americans are absolutely sick and tired of. That was part of what they voted for in 2024. They voted to tear down the system that protects the rich powerful elites. They voted to tear down the system that consistently goes for foreign wars and regime change. They voted to tear down the system that does nothing for regular hardworking Americans and only consistently props up the big banks, the military industrial complex and the oil executives and major, major industries.
7:13I mean, like her or hate her, she's speaking the truth right now, whether you like it or not. People are sick and tired of being taxed to death only to have that money sent to police the world and reward corrupt politicians and billionaires who run the military industrial real complex. Which is part of why it's interesting that Marjorie Taylor Greene is leaving Congress right now when she could have easily stuck around to cash in on Venezuela like everybody else is. Most of these swamp monsters like to hold onto their positions of power for life, which is why they spend millions of dollars to earn a job that pays six figures.
7:45Just look at all these dinosaurs on Capitol Hill that we've been begging for term limits going on decades now, and suddenly Marjorie Taylor Greene throws in the towel after one term. I mean, only time will tell if she's just using this all as an excuse to run as an independent. I mean, I suspect that's what she's up to here. But even if that's the case, I'd be lying to you if I didn't admit that I suddenly feel like this person is earning some serious street cred to her voice. Maybe she's just doing all this to launch a fancy podcast. Who knows? But I still have a hard time trusting her. But at the same time, I think it's important to leave space open for people to do the right thing.
8:25And her actions remind me that it's not too late to step away from Donald Trump, my fellow conservatives, because this isn't about politics anymore. It's about common human decency of which Donald Trump has absolutely none. And look, as a never Trump libertarian conservative, I truly hope that Somebody can rise to the occasion to define conservatism in the post-Trump era that is rapidly approaching us by the minute. Because even though I do not want to vote for a Democrat, there's no chance in hell that I'd vote for a conservative that doesn't unequivocally denounce Donald Trump for being the con artist that he's always been.
9:05Trump's regime change shenanigans down in Venezuela just gave every America First conservative another knot in their stomach because they know deep down that this is not what Trump led them to believe that they were voting for. And because of that, I say it's more important now than ever for moderates across the political spectrum to unite in casting aside Trumpism. And if America First is truly what you believe in, you now have conclusive evidence beyond a shadow of a doubt that your current commander in chief is no more than a self-centered, opportunistic neocon who sold your entire movement down the river to protect oil companies and pedophiles.
9:46And until we can do it again, it's Newsweek Radio. I'm Jesse Edwards. Catch you next time. Bye. And we say bye bye. Newsweek Radio is a member of the Trust Project. Mr. President, why is running a country in South America America First? Well, I think it is because we want to surround ourselves with good neighbors. We want to surround ourselves with stability.

Donald Trump once sold “America First” as a promise to end endless wars and foreign entanglements. Instead, he is delivering the opposite. After escalating in Venezuela, Trump is now openly threatening military or coercive action in Cuba, Mexico, Colombia, and even Greenland, moves that would have been unthinkable to his own base just a few years ago. In a political moment that should alarm everyone, Marjorie Taylor Greene has recently sounded like one of the sanest voices in the room by openly questioning Trump’s direction and broken promises. This episode cuts through the distraction and asks the uncomfortable question many conservatives are finally whispering out loud: if America First meant restraint, accountability, and putting our country before special interests, then what exactly are we watching now? This is not about party loyalty anymore. It is about recognizing a con before it finishes the job.
