  • Description: A discussion surrounding the implications of Trump remaining in power, the state of American politics, and the perceived inability of the establishment to challenge him effectively.

Key Themes

  • Political Compromise and Corruption:

  • Edwards argues that Trump's behavior and policies are eroding civil liberties and democratic norms without significant pushback.
  • The idea that Trump's approval ratings won't affect his power is emphasized, suggesting he remains a dominant figure regardless of public opinion.

  • There is speculation about Trump's potential to secure the GOP nomination for 2028 and manipulate political structures to maintain control.
  • Worry is expressed regarding Trump's capacity to sidestep electoral processes entirely.
  • Best Case Scenarios:
  • Despite the grim outlook, the speaker fantasizes about a world where the Epstein list leads to Trump's downfall and accountability.
  • He acknowledges the unrealistic nature of such hopes but insists on the need to contemplate potential outcomes for the sake of political discourse.

0:00So until we get this definitive Epstein list with receipts to back it up, I don't think we have any choice other than to assume that every single politician in Washington is either compromised, complicit or both. Even those who appear to be loud and supportive about getting the information out, if not especially. Because unlike cockroaches, today's media-savvy politician prefers to hide in plain sight and center stage. And after years of sifting through the mud on this issue, and ever since Elon Musk publicly claimed that Trump was on the Epstein list, the public continues to stand here empty-handed, waiting and expectant of answers they don't even understand the questions to.

0:40The list could drop from any direction and for any reason tomorrow, and half of us wouldn't even believe it for one reason or another. A reverent news talk and opinion with a both-sides-kind-of-suck agenda and a touch of satire for good measure. It's Newsweek Radio. I'm Jesse Edwards. And ask yourself this. If Trump himself really was on the Epstein list, as Elon Musk claimed, Do you really think that's going to have any kind of impact on Donald Trump in any way whatsoever? Worst case scenario, what do you really think the end result from all that would be? What, the Secret Service is going to extract him from the White House?

1:18Not going to happen. His own personal lawyer that he appointed to the head of the Department of Justice, Pam Bondi? Don't call me a liar. I didn't call you a liar. Trump is virtually untouchable now, and we all let this happen. He could bulldoze the rest of the entire White House tomorrow, and his own base wouldn't flinch for a second. The liberals would just sit there watching, mouths agape, not saying anything in fear of offending anyone. Because today's Democrat has to check with the DNC and have everything run through a committee before they're allowed to group speak on camera. It's your house and he's destroying it, says Hillary Clinton, yeah.

1:54Thanks, you old corrupt hag. You know, if you would have just stepped aside and let Bernie Sanders get the nomination like everybody wanted back in 2016, we probably wouldn't be in this mess to begin with. But just like Ruth Bitter Ginsburg and Nancy Pelosi, you knew it was time to step aside, but you stayed anyway because you just couldn't resist the temptation of having that kind of power at your fingertips. But you are correct. The White House is our house, and Trump is destroying it. You're not even trying to rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic. You're just reminding us that they exist.

2:25Thank you, Hillary. Thanks for nothing. You know, you and your husband did a lot to tear down the integrity of the office, too, you know. At least in this case, we can see the damage that Trump is causing in plain sight. Your husband lied to the American people on live television under oath. Was it really on live television? I don't remember. That could be wrong. I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Ms. Lewinsky. Indeed, I did have a relationship with Ms. Lewinsky that was not appropriate. Oh yeah, and speaking of Epstein, your husband, Bill Clinton, seems like suspect number one in all of this.

3:03but considering his proclivities for nocturnal emissions with young interns. Indeed, I did have a relationship with Ms. Lewinsky that was not appropriate. It would actually be a stretch to suggest that he was on the up and up while gallivanting around the globe on the Lolita Express. Nobody believes that. Nobody believes that Bill Clinton's bulbous nose is clean in any of this because his name is all over it, second only to Prince Andrew. I actually suspect that Bill Clinton is some sort of missing link in this. Yeah, Trump's old golfing buddy, the one man that Trump rarely, if ever, points out to when he's pointing his stubby cheeto little fingers at everybody else.

3:39Not that it matters, of course, because like I said, there's nothing we can do about Trump anymore, and he is unstoppable, unfortunately. I want you to take a look at this video that I was watching earlier today from political strategist Robert Reich, who is admittedly hopeful about what he sees as an uprising of the silent middle majority who are waking up to finally fighting back against Trump. Watch this. Millions have hit the streets in protest of this regime. Communities are banding together to protect their immigrant neighbors. Americans are voting with their dollars and boycotting corporations that suck up to Trump.

4:16Maybe I'm being too optimistic. Yeah, you are being a bit too optimistic there, Robert Reich. Don't worry. I myself was waxing similarly naive just the other day here on Newsweek Radio about the same topic. Yes, Trump is eating away at civil liberties. Yes, he's blowing up the economy and burying the Epstein files. And his approval ratings are tanking. And yes, even the silent majority does seem to be slowly waking up to the fact that Trump is a walking turd burglar. My point is that none of that matters now because he's got the power and you don't. Do you think low approval ratings really matter to an imbecilic dictator?

4:50These no kings festivals only serve to feed his narcissism. He loves it. And Donald Trump could show up on video with a bunch of teenage girls on Epstein Island tomorrow and his base would just assume that the video was made using AI. I'm starting to believe that a lot of smart folks, even like Robert Reich here, don't really understand the dynamics of this disgusting situation fully. Americans are voting with their dollars and boycotting corporations that suck up to Trump. What the f*** are you talking about, Robert Reich? We all know that every store sells the same crap that comes from the same places, and all just happens to lead back to BlackRock, State Street, and Vanguard one way or another.

5:29You know this better than most, Robert Reich, so why are you spreading such false hope? I guess liberals just can't help themselves with that kind of toxic positivity. Yes, there are toxic negatives from the conservative side too. And I'm clearly speaking in generalities, but leftists I've studied frequently display this toxic level of positivity. Which is one of the many reasons I think that the right doesn't trust them. This idea that we can go back to the old ways is only going to help people like Trump and his butt buddies from keeping control of the White House indefinitely. That's what's causing the right to double down and support Trump no matter what he does.

6:03And it's what causes MAGA people to distrust you even more than they distrust him, which says more about you than it does them in many ways. Why haven't we heard any Democrat calling for this ballroom monstrosity of Trump's to be torn down as soon as they get into office? Because that is precisely the message that needs to be heard right now. If you vote for me, I'm going to tear down Trump's ballroom and restore the White House immediately along with the Rose Garden. And that goes for every other thing that we're going to reverse and rebuild that Trump has done on his two terms to tear this country apart.

6:36We're going to set aside the politics of personal identity markers that only serve to divide us like skin color and gender studies and DEI, CRT, and ESG indoctrination so we can focus on cutting the cost of living in half for all Americans. And we're also going to make sure that illegitimate tools like Donald Trump never set foot in the White House again. But that's not what I hear from Democratic leadership. And yes, I'm being a bit hyperbolic just to prove my point that Democrats are limp, ineffective, lifeless, and without a clear leader who can pull the country out of this mess and fight for it cage match style.

7:10The only way we're going to see that kind of pushback from the left is if they get as many Democrats elected in 2026 as possible. But if Republicans refuse to swear them in like what's happening with this Congresswoman down in Arizona, then I'm not too sure what we can do at that point. Because clearly Trump is going to try to stop the steal again given the chance and there's no Mike Pence this time around to save us. Is Trump going to get the 2028 presidential nomination from the GOP? Short answer, absolutely. I think so. If the man hasn't died or otherwise become incapacitated due to old age or by cheeseburgers by then, because my forecast is calling for an embarrassing weekend at Bernie's type situation.

7:49I mean, if he's still alive, there is nobody on the right that's going to tell him know? You think he's going to step aside for who? J.D. Vance? That's never going to happen. Vance would actually turn on Donald Trump before that ever happened. And if you don't think that could happen, just look at how reasonable Marjorie Taylor Greene starts to behave when she inches closer to those midterms. First one out of the gate, peacocking around like one of the disciples who denied the GOP Christ. Expect to see a few other prominent Republicans do the same, but Trump will somewhat keep an inner circle.

8:18But again, not that any of that matters because Trump believes now that he can do whatever he wants, and the Supreme Court has largely backed that up. All he has to do is declare a bullshit half-ass war somewhere, fire off a few tomahawk missiles like they did over Interstate 5 last week, declare martial law, postpone the elections indefinitely, sit back, watch the country do absolutely nothing about it, just like they are now as they watch you demolish the East Wing of the White House on television. What are we going to do about Trump? Nothing. That ship has already sailed and we have no choice but to live with the consequences.

8:50The only thing we can really do at this point is to hope and pray that he doesn't try to keep his Republicans in control forever by launching a phony war on some third world country like Venezuela or Iran. I wouldn't even put it past him to get us into a pretend to standoff with his old pal Putin just to pull this off. Thankfully, I do believe that time is on our side. And even if Trump does have the orange balls to try to do this, I do not believe it's something else that anybody else on this planet besides himself can maintain. So yes, in that sense, Trumpism will likely and hopefully die with Trump.

9:24But what if he lives another 10 or 20 years? Can you imagine? Because holy crap, that could absolutely happen. Then what? What options do the people really have if Trump declares war and suspends elections for the rest of his time on the planet? I don't see him getting a lot of pushback from his base. And what is the left going to do about it at that point? Send a strongly worded letter? Stand outside of the White House holding hands, burning incense, and singing songs of kumbaya, love and understanding? If Trump is truly planning on seizing control forever, what the hell is to stop him? Absolutely nothing.

9:56A million man march in Washington? He could just hop on Air Force One and come back once everybody's left town. It doesn't matter. He's got nothing to lose. And there's nothing we can do about it except to start making plans for a world without him. Dude is 79 years old. What if he lives to 100? Stranger things have happened. That gives us another 21 years of this in theory. That happens. I am definitely leaving the country. Uruguay sounds nice. Now look, the way the world has been going lately, and based on everything that I happen to know and believe about Trump's increasingly twisted mindset, no, I wouldn't be surprised in the least if this is how it goes down.

10:30And I'm well aware that I'm not the only one who's afraid of this. But it is worst case scenario. I don't think it's going to get this bad, but I do believe it could easily get this bad because there's virtually nothing to stop it from happening if he wanted things to go that way. Breaking the rules? Absolutely. That's what this guy does better than anybody else without getting caught. Teflon Don is goddamned right. Because who the hell is going to enforce the rules otherwise? The people? He's not beholden to the people. He's only beholden to himself. Leadership in Washington. Absolutely out to lunch.

11:00The cops are on his side. The military's on his side. How could anybody not be worried about this worst case scenario at this point in the game? But look, I realize that it's a grim picture to paint. And I'm sorry. I know. I wish I could paint some happy little trees in this dark landscape like Bob Ross before we go. I guess I could try. Why shouldn't we be able to take a glimpse at least at the best case scenario for a change before we leave for the day? The best case scenario right now is that the Epstein list comes out today. And it's clear beyond a shadow of a doubt that he's on the list. So much to the point where every knee in the GOP bows and every tongue confess that Donald Trump is a Trumpster fire.

11:37We get some actual leverage for a real impeachment this time. and when it sticks, he's physically extracted from the Oval Office on live television, before being tossed into a prison cell for the rest of his life for any one of the 34 felonies that he's already racked up. Not exactly the way things work this day and age, I know, but this best-case scenario has turned into my daydream fantasy, and you're along for the ride, and I thank you for it. Thankfully, it shouldn't be too much longer now, but hope is not a strategy. And until we can do it again, it's Newsweek Radio. I'm Jesse Edwards. Catch you next time.
